hi!! could you possibly to a max x reader where the reader is mostly blind ( like the one with charles) because of a major traumatic incident when she was a kid and it starts off with max hating her and vice versa but then they fall in love, if she’s best friends with lando, alex and yuki that would be great too! (maybe max got jealous over something and that’s why he hates her?)
thank you!!💕
Passenger Side
Max Verstappen x reader
Genre: The beginning is a little sad and angsty, but the rest is fluff
Request: yes! I had fun writing this one because the reader is kind of sassy. I'm open for Charles, Max, Daniel, Lando, Oscar, and George.
Summary: Max hated her. Couldn't stand seeing her hanging off the guys in the paddock. Until he finds out the truth and it changes his entire perspective
Warnings: car accident, injury descriptions, Max is oblivious, Jos and his behaviors are mentioned
Notes: Third-person perspective. Please remember that blindness is a spectrum and can happen for many reasons. I am blind myself. If anyone has any questions and would like to know more, my inbox is open :)

If he was truly honest with himself, he couldn't come up with a legitimate reason for hating her.
She's kind, smart, gorgeous, and her smile lights up the room. Yet every time he was around her, he couldn't muster up any sort of courage to talk to her.
She was always hanging around Lando, Charles, Alex, and George. The four had almost dragged him to hang out with her, but he couldn't do it.
She was always hanging off their arms. It seemed to be flirtatious to him. Maybe that's what annoyed him.
She's clumsy, touchy, and never goes anywhere on her own. Was he jealous? Probably. But he wasn't about to admit that to anyone.
She seemed to run into things far too often for it to be a coincidence. Maybe it was her way it flirting. If that's the, he was better of staying away. He'd never been one to find that attractive.
She wears sunglasses almost every time he sees her. Unless they’re inside in a darker space.
He didn't understand her, and yet he constantly felt intrigued to know more.
It was an off day in the summer. Max and Lando were doing some sim racing together when the topic of the girl came up.
"I see you make eyes at her all the time. Would it kill you to say hi?"
Max nearly winced. Grateful this wasn't a stream or his strange infatuation and simultaneous dislike if this girl would be found out. "She's just so strange." Was all he could come up with on the spot.
The Brit laughed at him. "Strange? How so? Explain to me how she is stranger then you."
"She runs into everything constantly."
Lando only laughed harder.
"She's always clinging onto someone's arm."
His laughing was irritating him now.
"and she always wears those stupid sunglasses- Why are you laughing so hard?!" Max shouted into his headset.
Lando could hardly breathe. He was laughing so hard. His mouth is not able to form coherent words.
"Mate!- she's blind!" He finally managed, trying to get air back into his lungs.
"She's what?"
"She can't see. Well, she can a little bit, but barely anything really."
Max's entire facade fell apart right before him. Like a tarp being pulled out from underneath his mental walls.
Every reason he found not to like her is because she's blind.
Lando took pity on Max. Obviously, he's clueless. Now is his chance to be the best wingman Max never asked for.
~
The next GP was too hectic for Max. Mostly because he was finding every reason to avoid Lando. The boy finding it neccecary to make him meet her.
Max felt like a ninja. Marketing though he'd been replaced. Christian was confused at why Max kept hiding behind the cars. His PR manager was convinced he'd contracted a virus. Everyone was confused.
Lando, on the other hand, was not. He knew exactly what was going on.
"I don't understand why we're by the redbull garage." She asked him. The female holding his bicep loosely to let him effectively guide her.
"We're waiting for Max. I have something for him." Little she know it was her.
"And you felt the need to drag me all the way over here for this? Yuki was showing off somthing he cooked." She exaggerated a frown.
"Relax, you'll get to eat his food again."
"I may not be able to see very well, but I can hear your eye roll." Then the two started giggling.
Max had popped around the corner to see the two distracted. He decided to risk getting into his driver room. Darting speedily around the objects.
"Max!" Lando's voice made Max freeze. Grimacing at the thought of having to deal with whatever Lando was planning.
He made his way over to the pair. "What brings you over?" He tried to ask cheerily, but it came out more broken than anything.
He felt nervous. But why?
"I'm delivering a note from Daniel." Lando's cheeky smile did not go unnoticed by the Dutch. His hands dramatically search his pockets. "Damn, I think it fell out while I was changing."
Lando taps the arm of the girl holding onto him. "Are you okay waiting with Max while I go and get it?"
She nodded her head and smiled understandingly at her friend. Lando stands directly in front of Max, removes her hand from his arm, and places it on Max's.
"I'll be right back!" He yells while jogging back the direction of the McLaren paddock.
"Sorry about this. I understand if you're busy. You can point me in the direction of the nearest fence, and I'm sure I'll manage just fine." She smiled again reassuringly. She sensed his unease the moment her hand made sontact with him and his muscles tensed.
"No, it's alright, I was just going to hide somewhere." He confessed.
"Understandable. People tend to be nosy." They were walking now. Max is trying to get her out of the middle of the walkway. Trying and sort of failing.
He could hear her feet tapping the ground at each step. Humming every occasionally to herself.
"I'm Y/N, by the way."
"Max."
"You can ask if you want."
Max was taken off guard by the question. So much so that he almost ran himself into the approaching wall. "Ask you about what."
She laughed and put a hand on the cold metal of the garage. Now facing Max without him having help her. His confusion about her growing g steadily. "About my eyes."
She was still wearing her sunglasses. Despite the overcast weather. He wanted to see her eyes. He read people through their eyes. It's how he could tell what kind of mood his dad was in.
Then it hit him. That's why he'd hated her. He couldn't read her because he couldn't see her eyes. In a way, he was blind to how she was feeling and reacting to things.
"Can I see your eyes?" It was almost a whisper. His tapping his things in anxiousness.
"It's kind gross, but sure." She slowly removed the glassed and lifted her head upwards. His gaze memorizing eyes aspect he could.
One of her eyes was glassed over by a mix of yellow and red. The pupil is a shade of cream white. The other was clear aside from the pupil looking mildly foggy.
She didn't tell him the story that day. Mainly because Lando had come running back, a piece of paper clutched in his hands. "I'm back!" They heard him yell in the distance.
"Let me take you on a date." The words fell out faster than his brain could prosccess what he was saying.
"Sure."
~
Max still laughed at himself for falling for Lando's master plan. Though he kept the blank piece of paper in his pocket as a reminder of what his friend did to get him here.
The two had been on a handfull of now. It was fun exploring different areas with her on his arm.
The boys who had been guiding her for years now made sure he was properly trained. Three of them were getting protective of their visually compromised friend, unlike Lando, who was squealing about how cute they looked every chance he got.
Now it was winter break. Max had invited her to stay with him in Monaco. An invitation she graciously accepted.
She'd yet to tell him about her story. The traumatic and sudden loss of her vision.
Max had only asked once. When she told him it was hard to talk about, he respected that she would tell him in her own time.
That time was coming sooner than she planned.
Max wasn't able to get her from the airport. But Alex had been on his way to spend time with Lando, so he'd offered to be her traveling partner.
It had gone well. The plane ride was smooth. The night traffic made the car ride easy.
When the light turned green at the intersection, the last thing either was expecting was to be t-boned by a drunk driver.
~
Max thought she wasn't coming. He'd tried texting her but received no response. Even Alex wasn't picking up the phone.
She'd texted him that she was safe on the ground and would be there soon. That was three hours ago.
He was starting to worry. Panic even.
So he did the next logical move and called Lando. Praying that his friend had heard something.
It didn't take long for him to answer the phone. "I was just about to call you." Max hadn't heard Lando's voice quite so frantic in a while.
"What going on?"
"There was an accident. They're both at the hospital."
~
Max was driving as fast a caution would let him. He agreed he'd meet Lando there. Both of them hoping to see their friends safe and breathing.
Lando was waiting for him out front. He didn't want to face either of them alone. Unsure the correct way to act in this situation.
The next thing they knew, a nurse was leading them back to where their friends were.
Alex was upright and attentive. Stitches lined a few places on his face. doctors are doing a few tests to make sure there's no internal damage.
Y/N was unconscious, but the moniter tracking her heart was beeping steadily.
Max was at her side instantly. Assessing the damage he could see. The nurse followed him in. Getting a few vitals from the sleeping figure.
"She has a concussion and a few broken ribs, but she'll be fine." The nurse smiled reassuringly at him.
"Why's she unconscious then?" He'd finally gotten to understand her. He didn't want to lose that yet.
"Every time she woke up, she started panicking and hyperventilating. The doctors felt it best to put her under and let her rest." Then the nurse left him alone woth her.
Later, Max, Lando, and Alex were discussing it. Alex had been discharged and could leave whenever he wanted, but the three felt the need to stay until she woke up.
"The truck hit the passenger side of our car. That's probably why she was panicking." Alex pointed at making Lando nod in agreement.
Max's confusion was visible on his face. "Wait, has she not told you?" Asked Lando."
"Told me what?"
"How she lost her vision."
~
The two boys had refused to tell Max the story. Claiming it wasn't their place. Max respected that, but he was growing more and more curious.
Lando and Alex had left him an hour ago. Alex was exhausted and in need of a new shirt. The one he was wearing now stained with the excess blood from his head wounds.
When she woke up, the heart moniter started to beep faster. Alerting Max that something was wrong.
He gently grabbed her hand and placed it on his arm. Leaning over the bed so he could talk quietly.
It was odd how her hand on his arm had become a comfort for him. He wasn't sure if it was for hers, but he was panicking and needed to do something before she could hyperventilate again.
"It's okay, you're safe now." He soothes. His free hand now stroking the top of her head.
Her breathing calmed down at hearing his voice. "Is Alex okay?" She rasped. Her throat dry from her previous panicked shouts.
"Yeah, he went with Lando. He texted, saying he was safe at his apartment."
It was quiet for a moment before he heard her sigh. "I need to tell you what happened."
Max just shook his head to show he was listening. Grimacing at the horrific details she recounted to him.
There had been a massive crash. Six cars were involved. Her family had been innocent. Yet they suffered the most.
Their family car had landed on its side. Two cars landing on top of it. One crushed the front with the impact, killing both her parents. The other landed over the top of her. Oil leaked out from the bottom of the car, finding its way through broken glass of her mirror. The strong, smelling liquid getting in her eyes.
She screamed, trying to wipe it away as it burned her. Only to push it farther in and make it worse. She had been on the passenger side that day. Waiting thirty minutes for them to get her out safely.
She woke up alone in the hospital. Her parents and vision both gone.
Lando and her hand been friends. So she went to stay with their family. His parents let her into their home like she was their own.
When the car crashed into the passenger side, she was transported back into that moment.
Now she's here, with Max, his voice pulling her into a sense of security.
~
It didn't take long for her to be discharged after that. Max sent a quick message they the two were back at his apartment.
Max Verstappen embraced the girl he once hated. His lack of understanding eating away at his pride. But he understood now.
"I'm sorry about everything you've had to go through. I can't change the past, but I can be here for you in the future." He leaned his forehead against hers. The innocent affection communicating everything.
He knew how she was feeling through other signals. When blotchy tears rolled down her cheeks, he could feel every emotion rolling through her body. Finally able to get closure on what had happened so long ago.
"I love you, even if you can hardly see me, I love you."

Monster Mash
Werewolf! Steve Harrington x Fem! Blind! Reader
CW: Some small sexual themes (MDI)
For @lesservillain ‘s Strange and Spooky Stories prompts! This finally gave me a chance to write my Werewolf! Steve idea, so thank you so much!
—————
You came to Hawkins for one reason, and one reason alone. You heard about the spooky shit that’s been happening, and as one amateur Paranormal Investigator, you wanted to see what all the hype was about. People didn’t like that idea. Your parents nearly passed out when you told them. “I’ll have Bernard with me!” You’d say, kneeling down and hugging the large Goldie, who barked proudly. Licking your face and tapping his feet against the ground.
Bernard was your trusty partner in crime. Trained from a young puppy, you two had a bond that was unshaken. He was more than just your eyes, he was for all purposes, your best friend. “He’s excited too, aren’t you? You ready to hunt some ghosts? Maybe get into a run-in with some monsters?” You’d gush, your trusty pup woofing in excitement.
Obviously, you were going to be careful. Sure, you joked about battling monsters, but like hell would you actually put yourself or Bernard in danger. It sucked that people didn’t expect that from you, but that’s how it was when you were blind.
You loved proving them wrong, though.
Hawkins was a nice enough town. It was small, from what your research told you. Even smaller than it used to be, after the quakes.
Bernard stayed by your side, dutifully ignoring the coos and pets of strangers as he led you away from the bus station. Guess Hawkins didn’t have a large Blind population, as you had to gently tell people not to distract your faithful companion. It was almost second nature to you, even if it got irritating.
At some point, you managed to stumble into a building for some salvation from the heat. Taking in the vague shapes and colors, it was some kind of store.
“Welcome to Family Video, if you need anything-“
“Oh! You have such a cute dog, oh my god-“
Two voices rung out from in front of you. One masculine and one feminine. You see two human shaped blobs, and one of them was already coming around the counter at record speed.
“Thank you!” You stop her, tucking Bernard behind your legs and keeping your cane in front of you. “He’s working now, though, so please don’t pet him-“
The woman stops, a sharp breath leaving her. “Oh! Oh, I’m sorry. I won’t. He’s really pretty, sorry about that-“
“It’s alright, thank you.” You relax, eased up by the sincerity in her tone. “Could you help me, actually? Do you know where the local Inn is? I’m staying for a few days and the sun is taking a toll on me. I really don’t want to wander around in it.” You giggle and the woman chuckles in sympathy.
“Yeah! Here, let me find a map. We have some water, if you’re thirsty?” You follow after her retreating form, now stationed in front of the solid mass that you assumed was a counter. The other blob, this one taller and wider in the shoulders, offered a wave before quickly thinking better of it. “Hi! Hey, uh, I’m Steve.”
Steve had a really nice voice. Smooth, and just a touch of an accent you can’t quite place. “Hi Steve.” You return, hoping you were smiling at him and not at the wall. That, and you hoped the heat in your cheeks would die down. You were a sucker for nice voices.
“So, the Inn? What brings you to Hawkins?”
“Well, I’m actually here on a mission!” You tease, giggling and leaning on the counter. “Bernard and I are going monster hunting!” Bernard woofs, but he wasn’t right next to you like you were expecting. Instead he was a little off to the side, and it’s then that you hear the tell tale sounds of sniffing.
“Oh, uh, hey big guy-“
“Bernard!” You rush around the counter without thinking, gently leading Bernard away from the confused man. “I’m so sorry, usually he’s really good at staying by my side.” Even in the midst of a distraction, but maybe Bernard was a sucker for a nice voice too. Plus, he could actually see what the man looked like.
“Oh, it’s fine, I just had some food so maybe he just smelled it on me.” He waves off the apologies, chuckling. Bernard woofs again and Steve’s laugh becomes a little wheezy.
“Dingus! Where’s the map??”
“I don't know Robin! Here, let me check, you just grab the water.”
Then, without so much as a goodbye, he was gone.
The woman, Robin, takes his place. “Here you go! I found a bowl, in case you’re both thirsty? Did I hear right, that his name is Bernard?” She chattered away, pressing the cold bottle into your hands along with a paper bowl.
“Thank you, and Mmhmm! Hey, you can pet him for a moment, if you want.” It wasn’t something you usually did, but she seemed sweet and was respectful of your No. Robin let’s out a small squeal of excitement before you hear her baby talking to the wiggling goldie. “Oh, you're so cute, oh my god. Such a good boy, working so hard, yeah??”
Bernard woofs, whining happily and Robin's giggles were just too infectious not to join in on. "Here, do you mind helping me with the water?" You ask, kneeling beside her and offering the bottle.
After the bowl was filled and Bernard was eagerly lapping at it, you take a grateful sip yourself.
"So, Monster Hunting?" Robin prompts after a moment, and you nod.
"Yeah, I heard a lot of stuff happened here. I was due for a vacation and I figured it'd be fun to look into it!" You explain, standing again. Robin snorts, and she's a blur as she shakes her head. "That's one way to spend a vacation."
"Fuck, I think I left it in my car." Steve’s footsteps come back out of the room.
"I can cover out here if you guys wanna go grab it." Robin offers, and you debate the offer. Follow a stranger to his car for a map to your Inn. Not that the map would do much, but it would at least give you something.
"Sure, come on Bern." You direct him with your leash and he falls back into Work Mode with ease. That, or he was eager to follow Steve out of the building. His lead tugged with his urgency.
"Here, uh, I think it's in the glove compartment?" Steve mutters, and you wait as he rustles around in the car. Though, suddenly he swears and there's a thump inside the car. "Whoa there bud-" He ducks out and you realize that Bernard had been inching closer.
"Bernard! Bad Dog!" You guide him away from Steve with a horrified gasp. "I am so, so sorry, he's never done that to someone before-" Bernard was a very friendly dog, but you trained him out of the sniffing thing early on. At least you thought you had.
"Its uh, it's fine! Dogs do that to me. He's just sayin' hello, yeah?" Bernard whines with apology and you try not to wilt at the sound. You rarely had to scold him, but it seems the new environment was a lot. "Still, I am so sorry."
Steve hands you the map and he tries to guide you to the Inn, but the mess of lines and colors was proving difficult.
"Its okay, I can ask for directions along the way." You offer, handing him the map. You've already taken enough of his time and you weren't excited for the next time Bernard decided to get friendly again.
"Are you sure? I mean, I could uh..drive you? It's not that far from the store and you aren't wrong about the heat."
You hesitate. You did need to check in soon and Bernard seemed to like him a lot. If there was anyone's opinion you trusted the most, it was your sweet puppy.
"Sure, yeah, thank you. I hope there's a way I can pay you back?" You asked, hearing the click of the door. You reached out a hand instinctively and he filled that space. The warm skin of his palm was soothing against yours and damn, his hands were big-
You slip into the car, placing your tingling hand in your lap in an effort to ignore it. The back door opened with a click and Bernard jumped into the backseat with a pleased bark. The sounds of him sniffing around were instant.
"You know," you admit with a giggle, "he's a friendly dog but he hasn't warmed up this quickly to someone before."
Steve let out that wheeze laugh again, hand tapping on the wheel. "He's a sweet dog, cares a lot about you." You hum in agreement, leaning your head back against the headrest and letting yourself rest for a moment.
"So…you said you were…monster hunting?"
“Yeah! I just think it’s really interesting. Really, it’s less hunting and just..seeing that they’re real, Y’know?”
“But isn’t that…dangerous?”
“I mean, sure, but I got Bern and…can I be a little honest?” You rub your palms along the fabric of your bottoms. “I don’t really expect to find anything. Part of this was just an excuse to get…away for a while. Work’s been…stressful lately and I dunno, I just wanted to do something different for a while.”
“Can I be honest?” Steve asks, and you nod. “Hawkins is kinda a weird place to run away to. Most people are hoping to get out.” You giggle, and Steve joins you.
“Do you? Want to leave?”
“…Not really? I mean, sure, I don’t want to be here everyday but…it’s my home.”
“So, you wanna stay but most people wanna leave?”
“It’s stupid, I know.”
You shake your head. “No, it’s not stupid. It’s nice. Sounds like you really like it here.”
Steve hums and you want to ask more, but soon the car comes to a stop. You slip out, running your hands along the glossy interior, and locate the handle and let out your rambunctious pup. He jumps out, pressing his body against your leg with a happy bark. You pet the top of his head, grounding yourself in the familiar softness of his fur.
“Here we go! Hey, maybe.. I’ll see you around? Sometimes? Wait, shit, I mean-“
You giggle, shaking your head and turning towards the smooth voice. “I’ll see you around, Steve.” With a smile, you settle your backpack onto your shoulders, grab your cane and Bernard’s leash. “Thanks again, is there anything I can do? I have some cash?”
“Oh- No, hey, it’s fine, honestly this was a nice break for me. Getting to sit down and uh, drive you and this guy around was a highlight. Trust me.” Bernard barks and his tail wags against your leg before leaving your side and woofing even louder. The golden blob suddenly elongates, meshing with Steve and you have to let out another gasp. “Bernard, oh my god-“
But Steve was laughing, and damn, wasn’t that a nice sound? “Yeah, I liked meeting you too, Buddy.” He giggles and it’s not long before he ushers him back over to you. “Stay with your girl though, okay? Gotta protect her from monsters.” He chuckles, and your cheeks heat up again. “But seriously, stay safe, okay?”
With one final goodbye, you walk into the lobby with a sense of relief and maybe a small bit of longing. “Bern, what the fuck?” You mumble, giggling under your breath as you pet him again. “Was he really that handsome?” You tease and Bernard just lets out one of his happy whines, nudging your hand and licking your fingers. “I’d call you a smitten kitten, but I think you’d be offended.” He lets out an indignant woof and you laugh as you head up to the front desk.
-
Hawkins was nice, for the most part. The people were friendly and helped you get around if you got lost. Bernard was definitely popular, with many people eagerly greeting the two of you as you walked around. Beyond that, things unfortunately weren’t as action packed as you hoped. After all, you couldn’t just waltz up to the nearest resident and interview them about all the things they’ve seen. Not that many were that forthcoming in the first place.
So, you resorted to the library. The place didn’t have a lot of braille in the first place, figures, so the papers certainly didn’t. So you had to blow up the text to nearly three times its size, and even then you had to call the librarian over to tell you any words that weren’t clicking. At some point she ended up sitting with you and reading over the entire article, along with adding her own tidbits.
“Oh, that Munson boy. You know, when he was acquitted, I was relieved. He was always a sweet kid, even if he got a little too into his ‘metal music’ that I had to sush him.” She giggles and you tap the mugshot with your finger with interest. “You said he got hurt? From the quakes?”
“That or an animal got him, dear. Poor boy, he was in the hospital for months. The picket line outside the hospital certainly didn’t help either. His uncle had to be let back in through the back door, I heard. Or smuggled in when visiting hours were over.”
“Holy shit- Oh, wait, I’m sorry-“
“No, you’re absolutely right. Holy shit indeed, my dear.”
Looking back at the formless blob on the page, wonder if that’s all this was. Not a monster as in the bogey man, but the worse. A tangible monster, going around and murdering high schoolers and pinning the blame on some guy who sounded like the town was after him.
“You know dear,” The librarian mentions softly, “things haven’t really gotten better after the quakes, why, there’s been some sightings. That’s what you’re after, aren’t you?”
You perk up at this. “Sightings? Wait, like, monster sightings?”
“Mmhmm, but I’d be careful if I were you, pumpkin. This thing…well, it’s not one to be trifled with.”
-
It was one time, during one of these little study sessions, that a familiar voice rang out in the quiet library.
“Fifteen library books, Dustin? Fifteen late library books?”
“Are you really going to scold me for learning? For following where ever my journey of curiosity leads? My thirst for knowledge-“
“Henderson, Herrington, what a surprise! What brings you two here, not the fifty dollar fine, I hope?”
“Fifty Dollars? Oh, you little shit, I’m going to-“
You weren’t fast enough to catch Bernard’s leash. The Goldie barked, and you scrambled after the blonde mass of fur as he came barreling over to Steve and another person, a boy you guess given his voice.
“Bernard!”
“Fuck!”
The books come crashing down, heavy thumps pounding the ground. Steve’s increasingly familiar blob joined them, covered by a wiggling, excited Bernard.
“Steve! Dude, you dropped them-“ The boy cries, and Steve just groans.
Mortified, you firmly grip at Bernard’s lead. “Are you okay? Steve, I am so sorry-“ You reach out for him, gripping his hand and tugging the dazed man to his feet. “Fuck- Yeah, yeah, just startled, hey buddy-“
“Since when were you a dog magnet, oh, hi!” The boy, now placing the stack of books on the counter, greeted you with barely contained amusement. “Is that your dog? I didn’t know they let pets in here, that’s so cool-“
“Oh, no, he’s a service dog.” You were quick to interject, feeling for Bernard’s leash to make sure it was firmly in your hand. “He’s usually very well behaved, I’m so sorry. Are your books okay?” You reach out, wincing as you felt dents in the spines. “Here, let me just pay the fine, you said fifty?”
That caught Steve’s attention, the man quickly coming to your side. “No, no, you do not have to do that-“
“I mean, the books are pretty dented, Steve-“
“Dustin, I swear to god-“
“It’s fine!” You interject, pulling out your card and handing it over to the librarian. God, you were glad you couldn’t see her expression right now. “Fifty, then?” You press and the librarian finally lets out a laugh. “Yes. Usually I’d charge for the dents, but I’m fairly certain that was Mr. Henderson’s doing.”
“Wait, hey, I-“ There was a thump and Dustin let out an annoyed grunt. You pay the fine, silently mourning what could have been. Maybe a nice dinner at that Enzo’s place, or that cute top you felt at the store, or put into another training course for Bernard because apparently he needed a refresher.
With the freshly used card back in your bag, you turn towards the two with a heavy sigh. “God, I’m so sorry Steve, I swear Bernard isn’t like this-“ His warm hand lays heavy on your shoulder, and he squeezes gently. “It’s fine. Trust me, I’ve had worse.” He chuckles and you relax just a bit. Still mortified, but at least you made amends.
“You seriously didn’t need to pay his fine though, that’s his own doing-“
The exasperation makes you giggle. “Trying to teach your brother financial responsibility?” You guess and Dustin lets out a laugh loud enough to be shushed.
“Might I remind you three that this is a library, not a social circle?”
With renewed embarrassment, you run a hand over your face. “I’m so sorry Silvia. I’m done for today. I think I’ll just grab my cane and head out.”
“Here, do you..want some help?” Steve offers, and even though you could get back to your seat on your own, you decide to nod. Offering a hand, you tell him the section you were in and let him lead you back over there.
“He’s not my uh…brother, for the record.” Steve explains as the two of you walk. He smells nice up close, like the woods and a hint of hair spray. “Could have fooled me.” You tease and he chuckles. “He’s lucky he’s not, I’d be more annoyed about that fine if I was.”
“Fifteen late books is a bit excessive.”
“Exactly! Plus, those dents were not from the ground, they weren’t your fault I promise.”
You bite your lip and shake your head, hand reaching out for where you left your cane. “I didn’t…pay it for him. I uh…did it for you.” Was the AC broken all of a sudden or were you just perpetually warm around Steve and his nice voice and warm hands, and pretty laugh?
He clears his throat and let’s out a little laugh himself. “For…me?”
“I mean, I think my dog has basically fallen in love with you, so I think it’s only fair.” You admit, realizing he hasn’t let go of your hand even when you had your cane. You kind of didn’t want him to, either. “Seriously, he does that to no one. Not even me, so I mean, I think fifty dollars is a fair enough apology. Fifty dollars and a firm promise that he’s going back into training as soon as I get back home.”
Bernard whines at that and you roll your eyes. “I know, I’m breaking the biggest code about revealing your crush, but you literally ran over the man-“ You gently scold him and Steve giggles.
“I'm flattered, but it’s fine. Though…do you think you might want to go out sometime? Bernard’s handsome, but I’d like to just be friends.” He teases and you flush under the boldness.
“You sure? He has to come with me everywhere, I’d hate to make him a third wheel.” You joke and Bernard surprises you with his enthusiastic bark. Nudging your legs and inadvertently pressing you closer to the warm man next to you. “Seems like he doesn’t mind..” Steve’s low answer tickles your ears and you fold so quickly, it’s almost embarrassing.
“…Yeah, I’d like to hang out.” You admit and Steve hums, gently patting the small of your back with a hand as he leads you out of the library. “How about Enzo’s? I can pick you up tomorrow night?”
“Sure.”
—-
The date was going really well. Steve was sweet, attentive, but also mindful of your space and autonomy, which was the bare minimum but damn did some people not reach that. He was funny too, and you really liked making him laugh. Honestly, you loved listening to him talk, even if his topics tended to connect in ways you weren’t expecting, sometimes. You learn a few things about him. How he like sports, how he’s basically become the babysitter for Dustin and his group of friends, how he’s lived here his whole life.
“Wait, so were you here…?”
“During the uh..quakes? Yeah. It kinda divided the town, literally. Crazy.” He admits, tapping a spoon against his plate. “Still looking for monsters?” He asks and you chuckle.
“Yeah, but I haven’t seen any. Just a bunch of newspapers and stuff. You guys have been through a lot.”
“Tell me about it.” Steve groans and you let the conversation shift to something else. You really liked Steve, and you figured you could ask him for more information later, if he wanted.
Unfortunately, he doesn’t tell you much during your hang outs after that. Just bits and pieces. The fire at Starcourt, the missing kid, the Lab getting exposed for government corruption. “Things have gotten better now though.” He insists before distracting you with a warm kiss on the temple, or the cheek, or even the mouth.
Yes, you were at that stage now. Honestly, it was easy kissing Steve in between conversations over diner milkshakes or watching a movie on his couch. It was easy to let your little mission go when his lips felt so good on your neck, sharp teeth gently scraping the flesh there to make you gasp.
After all, Steve was far more interesting. He basically lived alone, his parents often away on business. He loved dogs, or rather dogs loved him, which is apparently a new thing. He was dependable, loyal, and sweet. He got excited when you came around, often getting close to you and always keeping a hand on you at all times. He loved his friends, and thrived in social settings. He used to be on the swim team, but often just lets you use his pool whenever you want to swim. He just sort of sits by the edge, almost guarding over you like Bernard used to do as a puppy.
He had a small temper, but was good at controlling it. He was cheesy, and romantic, and maybe just a bit clingy which you honestly didn’t mind.
It was still so early in whatever this was, but it didn’t feel that way with Steve. It was like he just meshed into your life overnight. You didn’t want to think about what would happen when you traveled back home, so you just decided not to for now. After all, everybody deserved a summer fling if they wanted one, right?
So, yeah, Steve was someone to you now. His kisses were becoming familiar, his hands finding a home on your hips. You hadn’t gone that far yet, other than letting him feel along your breasts which pulled the hottest groan out of him. You would have let him take you right then and there on his couch after that, but the phone rang and Bernard whined for dinner. It ended up being a cuddle and make fun of B-horror movies night, which was just as nice.
He was protective too, and maybe it’d be overbearing if it wasn’t him. He keeps you close in new places, often leading you and Bernard around if you let him. Bernard follows him around all the time, barking and whining, and letting out all manner of sounds. Steve responded with interest, carrying the one sided conversation with ease. It was adorable, he was adorable.
——
You got set back onto your mission about a month into your stay at Hawkins. One night, you were awoken by a screech outside your Inn window. You were alone, except for Bernard who was sulking the whole day without Steve.
Steve had canceled your date earlier. His apology was so strained, and quick that you couldn’t even answer him before he hang up.
“I’m sorry Honey, came down with something. I’ll call you tomorrow though, okay? Stay safe.”
It sucked, but at least you were going to talk to him later. Plus, it meant you could research at the library and make some progress on learning about the horrors of Hawkins.
A different noise comes, a howling one. There was something off about it, like a mimic of a howl instead of a real one. Bernard doesn’t care though. He lifts his head, howling along with it and you’re quick to sush him. You were not looking forward to getting kicked out of the only Inn in Hawkins.
Bernard whines and you sigh. “Do you really need to pee right now?” He whines again and you slowly slip out of bed. You pull on some better clothes, gather Bernard’s leash and your cane, before leading him out of the tiny complex.
It’s a chilly evening in Hawkins. The end of summer is whispering on the horizon. You were going to have to go home soon. Away from Steve, away from the mysteries that you hadn’t solved.
There's rustling in the trees ahead of you. A heavy crunch of branches and a sudden screech that has you pulling Bernard close to your body. The forest was the only place you could bring him to pee, the receptionist having made that very clear when he saw your dog.
“Someone let their pet shit in the hallway, ma’m.” He explained and you sighed and went with it.
Bernard whines, and tugs at the leash, but it’s not away from the scary sounds. No, he wants to go towards them. “Bern, no. Look, I know we joked about monster hunting, but-“ He whines again and keeps tugging at the leash. There’s another whine out in the forest, and it’s painful. Like the creature is crying out for someone, anyone.
Bern tugs at the leash again and this time you follow at his side.
The forest was scary for a number of reasons. You tripped on leaves and twigs, branches whacked you in the face. Fuck, you stepped into a puddle and now your shoe was wet. Still, you both persisted. You trudged along the path, Bernard gently whining and barking until an answering whine greeted him.
“What the fuck is that, Bernard?” You gasp, following your puppy until the shadowy world seems to lighten around you. A clearing in the forest. There’s a shape in the middle of it. Chestnut brown against the emerald green and dull mud of the ground beneath your feet. You get closer and Bernard whines again.
The creature whines back, and you're struck with the fact that this was a dog. A very big dog. You approach slowly. “Oh my god.”
You kneel down in front of it, and the creature whines again. It shifts closer to you, soft fur caressing your palms as the big dog all but shifts his body into your arms, hands caressing the thick, brown fur.
“What the fuck-“ You mutter, and the creature tenses. It makes a move to lean away, but you're quick to gather it close again with a soft, “No, no, no, it’s okay. It’s alright-“
You rub your fingers along the top ofl his head. “Where’s your owner, buddy?” You coo and the dog just sighs. Pressing his large head into your chest with a tiny whine. You carefully run a hand along his body, tensing when you reach a leg and he flinches. Something wet and sticky glazes your fingers and you’re suddenly very grateful Bernard brought you out here.
“What happened to you, baby? Oh, you poor boy-“
A snap to your right freezes you. The dog in your arms tenses, and the dog at your side whines fearfully.
Suddenly the dog is on his feet, persistently nudging you to yours. He growls at you, and the rumbling should scare you, but it doesn’t. “Wait, I’m not leaving you here-“
The dog barks again and Bernard barks back. There’s a barking match, and you try to get a word in but they aren’t listening. There’s another crunch of branches, and another howl similar to the one that woke you up.
Suddenly the bigger dog stamps a foot on the ground with a heavy sigh, growling at Bernard before letting out a put upon whine. Bernard yips back, licks your hand amd then takes off down the pathway.
Without you.
What the hell.
“Bernard! Wait-!” You turn to run after your dog, but you aren’t sure where he’s even going.
Chestnut, the name you decided to give the injured dog because this was getting confusing, is quick to run into your hands. Nudging your stomach and pressing his fur into your fingers.
Let me help. You can almost hear him say as he rumbles. His fur bristles as the creature gets closer and closer to your spot. Let me get you out of here.
“Okay.” You grip into his thick fur, and Chestnut nudges you with his cold nose before tugging you along into the dense forest. You try to keep up with him, but your cane isn’t really doing much to help you right now. Chestnut seems to agree because he takes the cane between his teeth and whines apologetically when he takes it out of your hands. He then ducks down, swooping between your legs and lifting you onto his back in a motion so smooth, he must have done it before.
“Chestnut, dude!” You yelp, leaning forward and holding onto him for dear life. The dog tilts his head, whines in confusion, before racing away from the spot when the creature behind you cries out again.
Even with his injured leg, Chestnut is fast. The wind whips against your skin and deafens your ears. You close your eyes to protect them, burying your face in his fur which was a woodsy scent.
Breaking out from the woods, voices suddenly cut through the rushing air.
“Over here!”
“Shit! What happened?!”
“Where is it, is it after you?”
The voices meld into one and you try to answer, but that horrifying screech cuts you off. You bury your face into Chestnut’s fur while the others scream in surprise.
“Jesus H. Christ, I thought you killed all of them?!”
“Doesn’t matter, get out of the way!”
Gun shots rang out over your head and you bury yourself deeper into Chestnut’s fur. He’s quick to run away from the fire, coming to stop a ways away before depositing you against a wall and handing over your cane. Not wanting to be alone, you reach for him but he barks. Ducking away and whining apologetically.
Before you could panic, a new bark sounds beside you. Bernard whines, pressing into your leg and you all but collapse into him. “Bern!” You sob, pulling him close to you while he licks your face and whines apologetically.
War rages just a ways away from you two. Guns shot through the night, growls and screeches made your ears ache. You held Bernard close to your chest, face buried in his matted fur as the battle raged on.
"El, now!"
There was a cry, a human one this time. A grotesque ripping and shredding followed along with a ghastly cry of pain until all grew quiet.
You slowly lift your head from your dog's fur, tears pooling in your eyes while you try not to whimper. Whatever that was, you were grateful you couldn't see it.
Soft, thudding footsteps came closer to you and Bernard. The irony scent of blood hit your nose and you sighed in relief as Chestnut gently woofed. Nuzzling your cheek with a whine, you lean into him.
"Thanks Chestnut, thanks for saving us." You murmur, scratching under his chin. He makes a rumble in his throat, nose brushing your cheek.
"Chestnut? But that's s-" The voice was cut off with a grunt as more footsteps came closer.
“Are you okay?” Another voice asked, this one actually pretty familiar.
“Robin?!”
The woman chuckles nervously as she crouches down beside you. “Hey. Bernard came to my door and led me here, thank god we made it in time.”
“Bernard- Wait, what? Bernard went to come find you?” You sat up, immensely confused as more voices overlapped. In the time between running from the monster and getting out of the forest, your boy had rounded up a collection of Pre-teens, Robin, and…the chief of police?!
“That’s one smart dog of yours.” Hopper’s gruff voice broke out amongst the gaggle of teens. “Wouldn’t stop barking till I got my ass out of bed.”
Bernard barks proudly, tail thumping with glee as he’s flooded with praise. You rub at his back, also just as proud but…confused. Very confused. How did he know? Your dog was smart, but even so, how?
Chestnut nuzzles into your chest and whines, breaking you out of your thoughts. “Oh my god, your leg- We need to get him to a vet!” You shift, but Chestnut makes a discontented noise. Somehow you knew it was a protest as he shook his head against your stomach. “You’re bleeding, you aren’t fine.” You insist, nudging at him despite how big and heavy he was.
There’s a snickering until another voice cuts through. This one is unfamiliar. “She’s right *Chestnut*, that’s one fucked up bite you got there.” He teases and the younger party breaks out in a few giggles, mainly between the boys. Chestnut barks at them and you run your hands along his soft fur.
“I’m sorry! It’s just his hair looks like chestnuts and I didn’t want to keep calling him ‘The dog’ and-“
“Well yeah, that’s a wolf in your hands, Sweetheart.” The voice coos, stepping closer. The figure was wearing a ton of black, and the jingle of chains registers in your ears. Chestnut gives a warning growl at the man, and he chuckles. “Sorry, sorry. Name’s Eddie, and he’s gonna be okay. He’s already starting to heal, see? Touch the wound.”
You brush a hand over the once bitten flesh, gasping as all you felt was a scab forming. “Wait, how, what-“
“You gonna tell her, or do I?” Eddie asks, but his voice is directed to the comfortable dog, no, wolf in your lap. Chestnut sighs, letting out a small huff of an answer before slowly rising from your body. He walks away, and you sit there for a second. “Tell me what, where’s he going?”
“Just give him a minute, he kinda needs to get decent. You almost done over there man?”
“You try putting on pants over a wound, Munson!”
…..
“Steve?!”

You had lost your sight at the very young age of three, the aftermath of a terrible accident. You lost your mother in the process. You remember waking up in the hospital scared. Hearing voices and people shuffling all around you and not being able to see was terrifying. You cried until your throat was dry, the doctors and nurses attempting to ease your shock and fear was appreciated now that you were older. But imagine being three years old waking up and not being able to see? On top of being told “your mommy is in a better place now.”
Your aunt took you in after that. She of course already had a family of her own. It wasn’t easy hearing her kids exclaim “I love you mommy.” every night. You would do the same. You’d snuggle a teddy bear that the doctors said “your mommy angel wanted you to have this.” you would speak lowly so your cousin’s wouldn’t hear “I love you mommy” only you never got a response back.
As you got older her death was easier to deal with. Your aunt filled in the maternal figure that you lost. She’d been there for every doctor appointment, every specialist who swore you’d get your sight back if you paid them, she’d been there to hold your hand once you got anxious in public places. She never once treated you any different than her “real” kids, you were hers no matter what. Of course you both still talked about your mother. She’d tell you stories from when they were teenagers, ones that involved boys, sneaking out and skinny dipping.
Boys.Boys.Boys
That was a sore topic once you reached the age of fifteen. Boys teased and picked on you for simply being blind. The god awful ones would joke and say “we’d be able to cheat on her, she can’t even see!” The bullying never got to you though. Yeah, some of the comments sometimes dug deeper than the others but ultimately you came out stronger than the snobs that tried to be the class clowns. For the first two years of high school you attended a regular public school. That was until your aunt found an amazing school for the blind in California. You remember the summer, where you took a trip to cousins beach to celebrate.
It was a nice experience, you had never been to the beach before. But the sounds of the waves and the feeling of the water as it raced to the shore made you feel at home. The first night in cousins beach, you made a friend, Isabel “belly” Conklin. you were ecstatic it wasn’t every day that you made a friend so easily. That day you spent all your time with her, she’d nudged you every time a cute boy walked by “he’s cute look!” And of course that would be followed by you laughing out loud reminding her that you actually couldn’t see!
“You’re gonna love the boys or hate them either one!” Belly giggled as she held onto your elbow, guiding you to what you guessed was her beach house. “Helloooo” belly called into the house as you both walked in. It smelt fresh maybe citrus? Or was that lavender? “Hey, who’s this?” A voice sounded from around the corner. “This is y/n I met her today on the beach.” Belly explained, leading you over to a couch. “Nice to meet you, I’m Steven.” You smiled, he seemed genuine. “Nice to meet you!” You held your hand out in a nice gesture.
Only it wasn’t the same boys voice you heard that also took hold of your hand. “The names Jeremiah beautiful.” The boy oozed confidence and that made you laugh out loud. “Okay…nice to meet you Jeremiah…I’m y/n I’m not sure if you heard.” You said as he placed a kiss onto the back of your hand.
God you loved them already, they didn’t walk on egg shells with you. Most people when meeting you, they’d be almost scared to approach you. Maybe they were nervous? Maybe they never experienced an encounter with a blind person? You didn’t blame them, though it did make you feel out of place. But with your new friends? You felt good.
That rest of the day was spent in the Conklin’s beach house. You met a few other people like Taylor, Shayla. The Conklin’s and Fisher’s mothers though? they were the sweetest. “Oh look who decided to show up!” You knew that voice belonged to Steven. You were currently sitting on a pool chair besides Taylor and Belly, explaining how blind people pick out clothing. “Hey, who’s this?” The unknown voice had you startled for a second, but you threw on a polite smile. “I’m y/n…” you held out your hand just like you did everyone else.
“Conrad” The name was spoken so softly you almost didn’t catch it. When his palm met yours, it was like fireworks went off in your stomach. “Nice to meet you” you stuttered, god how many hands did you shake today? And when the boy sounded attractive was when you acted like an idiot! “Okay! am I the only one who noticed that?” Taylor piqued up once you heard Conrad’s footsteps get further away from you. “Well you’re gonna have to explain it to me because you know….” You gestured towards your eyes.
Taylor gasped muttering an “I’m sorry” you let her know you didn’t take any offense, you told her that it’s actually funny when people forget that you’re blind for a second. “Conrad totally has the hots for you.” Belly spoke joining the conversation. “What?! we..literally just met?!” You argued, though the smile on your face made it obvious that you liked what she said. “So? and the way you reacted to my observation let’s me know that you have the hots for him too!” Belly declared nudging your shoulder. All you responded with was a shake of your head, Conrad Fisher would never like you right?
You fell for him faster than you intended to. Conrad Fisher, was everything you’ve ever wanted in a male companion. He made you laugh, he complimented you, he didn’t make your blindness a laughing stock. He treated you amazing. It was nearing the end of your first summer at cousins beach, you’ve already told your aunt that your definitely coming back.
“Its fitting that you’re finally teaching me how to swim on my last night.” You said standing awkwardly in the pool.
“I know, though I’ll miss you hanging onto me the whole time” Conrad spoke, slowly coming up behind you. His hands gently grasping your hips. Though you’ve never seen his face, the feel of his touch warms something inside you. “Oh really?” You turn your body towards him, legs coming around his waist, arms around his neck. “Yeah, I like the feel of you in my arms” he whispers softly, his forehead touching yours.
“I like it too” You reply, bringing up one of your hands you trace his face with your fingertips. Starting with his eyebrows you trace everything you can’t see, you know he’s handsome bringing your fingers down to his lips you smile. “You have nice lips I could tell.” Conrad let out a soft laugh, he’s silent for a moment like he’s contemplating something. “You should test them out.” Was he hinting at what you thought? Did he want you to kiss him? You really hoped so. Because you would be embarrassed if it didn’t turn out that way.
The air was tense neither one of you going in for the kiss just yet. “Are you going to kiss me connie? or am i gonna have to..”Your next words died in your throat as Conrad connected his lips with yours. The kiss was full on passion, his lips were soft and warm. Conrad’s lips parted just slightly allowing his tongue to slip inside. The moan that you let out had him feeling on top of the world. He’d finally gotten his girl.
You were the first to pull away, smiling like a fool. Conrad was the first to speak though. “You’re so pretty.” he lands a chaste kiss onto your forehead. You’ve been described your looks multiple times throughout your life. Although right now as Conrad compliments you, the only thing you can wish for is to see yourself through his eyes.
And as you lean in once more and kiss him tenderly, all you can think about is you and Conrad Fisher are forever.
~
TWO SUMMERS LATER..
“I’m so glad we left the party, if one more person came up and asked me ‘what exactly does a blind person see?’ I was gonna flip!” You rambled scrunching up your face, Conrad thought you looked cute when you did that. “I can’t protect you from all the stupid fucks in the world I’m sorry princess.” the kiss that he planted on top of your forehead calmed you.
Late night beach dates were kinda you and Conrad’s thing. The beach at night feels entirely different than the beach during the daytime. Yeah someone might argue and say “a beach is still a beach.” But to you and Conrad at night the whole atmosphere is changed. Their isn’t the crazy crowds of families, children and surfers. It’s peaceful and serene, you like the way Conrad describes the way the moon bounces off the ocean.
Your head lazily rests against Conrad’s broad shoulder, you listen as the ocean meets the shore every couple of seconds. “Where do you think will be in ten years?” The question has been on your mind for awhile now. Conrad clears his throat no doubt he was thrown off by the random question. “Well obviously you’ll already be my wife, we’ll have a beach house of our own hopefully.” His fingertips slowly massage your hip that’s peeking out of your tank top. “And we’ll definitely have babies, maybe like four.” You gasp immediately shocked by the statement.
“Conrad fisher wants to be a baby daddy?” You feel him nod his head immediately “Only if you’re my baby mama.” Damn sighted people, they were so lucky they would be able to see the smug smile you know that’s plastered on his face. “Okay, I’ll be you’re baby mama.” The words are told as a joke, but also a promise of a whole life time together with the love of your life.
And as your boyfriend gently grabs your face pulling you into a soft kiss, once again all you can think about is how you and Conrad Fisher are forever and a lifetime.

To see me
Tumblr media
Summary: A head wound can be fatal for a Mandalorian. To not reveal ones face contrasting strictly with a pain that needs to be treated. Yet Din finds himselfs a savior - and is himself shocked at how much his touch starved soul enjoys each and every caress of soft hands.
Warning: Head trauma, blind reader, a lot of pining and a bit anxiety from Mando's side A/N: Due to request here a little short story about a blind reader/ medic reader tending to Mando.
“It is fine.” “It is not.” The Armorers voice was firm and it still made Din quiver like a boy when she spoke in that tone to him. It also made the throbbing pain on the back of his head worse. Injuries to the head were not usual for Mandalorians. For reasons that need not be explained. Especially because of that reason they were deadly as well. The motivation to never show one's face was deemed to be greater than the one to stop  a slow painful death due to a head wound. This was the Second time Din had ended up with one. The first time he’d thankfully been in the presence of a droid that helped him out. This time however, he hadn’t been as lucky. It was at the back of his head too, he was unable to treat it no matter how often he’d tried. With dizziness and a migraine that drove him mad he’d made it to the others, hoping he’d recover if he’d just rested. Again, he hadn’t been lucky. Days had passed and his state had nothing but  worsened. A fever joined the migraine and the vertigo and it hadn’t been long til the Armorer had caught on to it. “If it’s a head wound it needs treatment. Soon.”, she spoke, her voice still tense and like she was scolding a thick headed child. “And how am i going to get that?”, Mando asked, looking up at her. In his state, sick with fever and his vision blurred even through the sharpening visor he felt like laying straight back down. Grugo sat on his makeshift bed beside him. Cooing worryingly. The little guy had not left his side since it had happened and had that saddened look on his little green face that made Din’s heart melt. The foundling had tried often enough to get under his helmet, use his healing on him but yet again and again Din had carefully sat him down, telling him it was not right.
The Madnalorian before him crossed her arms, armor shining in its golden hue as it caught the light of the setting suns outside the window. It caused Din’s migraine to flare up worse than before. “I would know someone. I have to see if they are still around…”, she said. Her voice lower now, nearly a whisper. Mando frowned, shaking his head, slowly, not to make matters worse. “How would that work out?”, he asked, confused by her statement. Yet again, he wasn’t quite fit to think at all lately. “It does. I’ve sought them out many times before.”, the Armorer explained in a calming tone. “Is it a droid, then? I still don’t love them but i’d surely give it a go…”, he answered. Even he noticed just how weak he sounded. “No droid. But it is right for our kind. You can trust me on this, I will make contact. Rest now.” Din felt her hand on his shoulder. Warm. And reassuring. His head killed him. He closed his eyes. Trusting her.

Grogu whined. A day had passed and Din found himself in his cockpit, readying the ship for flight. He looked over his shoulder, watching the little guy squeal. “What? I’m fine. I can fly you know.”, he said out loud. Watching Grorgu’s reaction. “I can. Don’t give me that look. I’m fine enough. I won’t kill us.”, he muttered, turned back to face the console again. Sometimes he felt crazy. For talking so much to his foundling, knowing he would get no answer. Maybe all the years of doing missions in solitude had made him mad after all. Nervous, definitely. Nervous to meet someone. Nervous about what would happen. About how this would go. He stared ahead. The ship was ready to go. Grugo cooed. “Fine Fine I’ll put the thing on auto-pilot. Let’s go.”, Din sighted, forcing him to just trust fate on this one. I. A Gaze He held Grogu closely, pressed against him. This was the place. He was sure of it. And yet he had not knocked nor rang for a minute now, simply staring the door down. The planet was nice. Clean. Green - bluish flora bloomed around the place. The street seemed awfully clean. No shady alleys, no run down taverns, no greasy walls. This wall before him was pure white. A house build of strangely white and smooth stone. Strange flying tiny creatures around him, surrounding the flowers in the garden before it that he still stood in. Grogu, once more, brought him back to reality. A soft coo this time. As if he was asking if everything was alright. It caused Mando to take a sharp inhale, his heart still beating fast. He did not know why he was nervous at all. Maybe because he was about to take off his helmet in there. Or maybe because this place seemed all too wrong for him. Too clean, too nice. He sat his Foundling down carefully. His head spun as he did. It reminded him all too well exactly why he found himself here in the first place. He stared ahead again. The display in his visor telling him once more that yes - this was the location he was ought to be. Somehow, even though it was the Armorer herself who’d sent him here, he felt his anxiety act up. He’d messed up already. He’d taken off the helmet before. He’d swore to himself he’d do anything to never have that happen again. And here he was, about to break that promise. Grogu squealed. He seemed happy enough. Raising his little hands to touch the blue leaves and then tried to get to the little creatures that sat on it. “Alright then. Let’s go.” Din took a deep breath, lifted his hand and knocked. Three times. Muscles tight. Expression stern. And then it all changed. Then She opened the door. II. A Whisper
It had taken her a while to get the door. To make her way towards the knocking sound, but as she did, she had surely noticed him standing before it. Mando stared her down. Straight up gazing at her soft features. The shine of her hair. The silken dress that hugged her figure loosely but oh so wonderfully. She was radiant. Dazzling. Mando felt his heart drop into his stomach, his heart picking up. She hadn’t spoken a single word until now. And he hadn’t either. Damn it he hadn’t even moved. This woman was supposed to take care of his head? How was that going to work out? Ignoring the fact that her looks bedazzled him, he still did not know how she was to solve this problem that he had. That he was here for. Mando watched her closely. Taking a deep breath. He was just about to say something when he noticed her soft smile changing into a confused little tilt of her head as she drew her brows together. “Hello?”, she asked, uncertainty tainting her voice. Hello?  Mando was the one frowning in confusion now. Why was she asking as if she didn’t see him standing right in front of her. Grogu squealed on the ground, raising his tiny arms towards the woman and grinning brightly - as if he’d solved the mystery before him. Mando, following the little one's gaze looked up again and then, suddenly it clicked for him as well. She did indeed not see him. It was the certain silver glimmer in her eyes that had given it away. Only visible when he was truly looking for it. She was blind. It rang through his head. And so many questions were answered. Quickly explaining himself, Mando stood up straight. He cleared his throat, then spoke: “I ah…the Mandalorian. The Headwound. The Amorer send me.” Not much of an explanation, he noticed quickly. Feeling a bit shy and nervous and still dizzy before her. The smile returned to the woman's features none the less and she quickly nodded, making a small and elegant side-step to make room for him to enter the door. “Of course! I’ve been waiting for you. Please, come in.”, she chimed, the smile on her lips genuine, Mando did notice now. In the way the focus of her eyes was just off. She moved so naturally though. So beautifully, swayfully elegant. The woman had already made him forget the pain in his head for just a minute there. III. A touch He had entered the small house. Had been told to sit down. Mando did, as usual, exactly as he was told. It gave him time to look around and calm his breathing. He was still nervous as hell, even though this turn of events had indeed calmed him a bit. She could look at him, straight up, no helmet involved, and would not see his face. It was quite the genius concept for a mandalorian medic, really. Yet again, he asked himself just how good of a medic she was if she could not see what the hell she was doing. It frightened him a little. As did the fact that he was still to remove his helmet right in front of the lovely woman. He had asked her where he could sit Grogu down for the time being. She had shown him to a room. A couch in it. A desk. Not much more. Yet the cushions were soft enough and with some loving words of encouragement and explanation the little foundling sat perfectly still on them. Mando bringing his favorite snack along and offering it as a bribe surely had helped as well. That dilemma was taken care of then. Only her remained. Her, the mysterious woman who still sorted things out just behind him. Her, that made him all so nervous in two very different ways. “Are the blinds closed?”, she asked, her voice as soft as he remembered it. He did not need to look at them to know they weren’t. “No. May I close them?”, he asked, a frown on his features. He’d love to get up and just…move to ease the tight muscles and calm his quickly beating heart. “Yes that would be lovely, thank you.”, she smiled softly, turning to him. He watched her again. Not returning the smile. She wouldn’t see it anyway. He asked himself if that was making it better or worse for his conscience. He needed to ask. At least to take the pressure off a little. Yet he felt it was not very nice to do so. He wavered, then turned over his shoulder as he closed the black curtains before the window, darkening the room. “I…I’m sorry to ask. truly I am but…”, he started, soon to be interrupted by her. He was surprised that it turned out to be a chuckle. A sweet and delightful yet soft chuckle. “I see nothing. No worries. You can take the helmet off without restraint, Mandalorian. This isn’t the first time I am doing this.”, she explained. Her tone was reassuring and well meant. It eased him a little. “Huh…Alright then.”, he agreed quietly, taking his seat once more. He looked around. The room was pretty barren, a bit minimalistic but apart from that nice and still cozy in a way. “Anything I can…do?”, he asked, tapping the chair nervously with his gloved fingers. She smiled at that, concentrated on her silver tray before her with all kinds of useful utensils on it. “You may undress.”, she spoke. It made Mando’s skin trickle. “All or…”, he asked, voice deep, trying his best not to stutter. “It’s just the head wound, yes?”, she asked, raising a brow. “Yes, all else iis taken care of.”, he answered dryly. “Just the helmet, the gloves and the shoulder pieces then. Please.” Just. Mando disliked even that quite a lot. Yet got to work quickly. All felt relatively normal but the helmet. He wavered at the helmet. Not quite daring to take it off just yet. She moved over to him then. And then he felt her. Soft hands, caressing over his shoulder, towards his chest.
The man felt blood rushing to his head and his skin tingled. He had been so touch starved for so long that even this felt like the most intimate thing he’s felt in months and just like that, he tensed up underneath her gentle hands. She stood behind him. Her hands on his shoulder, caressing and massaging along the neck. “Helmet is still on, I feel.”, she teased. The woman did not judge nor pressure him. She sounded understanding, if anything. “I..yeah…Sorry it’s…”, he started, stumbling over his words. impossible. horrid. most intimate. near hurtful. “I understand. Completely. We’ll take it slow, no need to remove it just now.”, she spoke. Her tone was so calm and reassuring. So very guiding and careful with him. Mando found himself enjoying that a bit too much for his own liking and just like that he leaned back a little, enjoying the massage of his strained neck. A touch most magical.
“Tell me what exactly the problem is.”, she offered, trying to ease him into teh experience. Mando sighted. Closing his eyes. “Mission gone wrong. I landed head first on stone. Hard. Usually the helmet buffers each fall but I must've landed in a bad way. Hit my head. Just above the right eye.”, he explained. He was still tense. Still nervous. His heart was pacing quickly and his breathing was irregular. She only hummed softly. Urging him to go on. Her hands never stopped caressing him. She felt wonderful.
“I…had a bad headache after that. Noticed blood trickling out from underneath my helmet. Checked myself in the mirror. Was too dazed to do something about it myself. It only got worse after I checked back in with the others.”, he continued. He was easing slightly. Losing himself in her touch and his tale. “I understand.”, she nearly whispered, “What exactly worsened?” This time he answered straight away. Way less restrained. “The pain. Dull and throbbing behind my forehead. Dizziness. Nausea.”, he sighted.
“I am very sorry to hear that. I’ll see what I can do, It might be serious however.”, she warned him, genuine worry and feel in her voice. Mando nodded. “I…trust you. I suppose.”
“You can. Many of your brothers and sisters have come here. There wasn’t one yet whom I could not aid.”, the woman spoke reassuringly, squeezing his shoulders lightly as a little heads up. Mando found himself smiling at that. “Now. Helmet. Want to take it off yourself or do you want me to do it?”
He froze again at that. Damn he’d grown quite comfortable just now. Could’ve stayed like that…but there was the matter at hand. “I…” Mando had never ever thought that he would ever let someone else touch his helmet. Yet again. Many Mandalorians had come here. He was safe with her. It was alright. It was fine. Trauma trickled underneath his skin. To be seen. To remove the helmet himself and… “Would you do it?” He wouldn’t want to repeat that trauma.
She was soft. And respectful. Her slender hands found the right button to release the tight grip of the helmet all too soon and with the uttermost care she grasped underneath the metal, lifting it off his head.
Mando still hated and loathed every second of it, yet again, the extreme pain that flooded through his body like a toxin as soon as the pressure of the helmet was released showed him just how much this action was necessary,
“Are you okay?”
She had asked carefully, still holding his helmet in her hands. “I…Yeah.”, the Mandalorian before her answered. Sweetly, she reached over him, placing the helmet back into his hands, so he could hold tightly onto it during the procedure. She still stood behind him. Still, even in theory could not glance at his features. Din Djarin felt utterly naked nonetheless.
“You have a lovely voice. By the way.”, she then said. Mando frowned, turning his head over his shoulder to look at her without a second thought. “What?”, he asked, not noticing he had just turned his features to her right then. She seemed to look right through him. So sweet, so beautiful she stood before him, a lovely smile on her perfect lips. “Without the modulator. You sound handsome.”, she repeated herself. A blush creeped up her cheeks and Mando felt his heartbeat picking up pace once more.
“I…thank you.” “You are very welcome.” “You”, , he stopped himself there. not daring to tell her just how wonderful she looked, “It’s…nothing. Sorry.” “All good then. Let’s get you sorted out.”, she spoke with that smile of hers, closing in again.
Her soft hands running over his bare skin. He reveled in every last one of her touches. Painful or not. “You’ll be out of here in no time, Mandalorian.”, she promised. He could hear the smile in her soft voice. Hoping she would be wrong.

Instinct || Bucky Barnes
FATWS!Bucky x blind!fem!reader
Summary: After trying to stop a mugging before Bucky intervenes as reward is offered and so he tracks you down. Warnings: 18+ only, canon-typical violence, mentions of animal abuse, discussion about disabilities, fluff WC: 2.3k
Tumblr media
The subway seemed busier than usual for such a late hour, but then again this was the city that never sleeps. Thankfully, despite the amount of people on the platform there were still seats available on the train. You took a seat and folded up your cane, tucking it next to you before a New Yorker tripped over it since they never seemed to pay attention where they were walking.
A few shouts sounded down the end of your carriage and you tilted your head towards the sound, listening to the escalating argument, an attempted mugging. Footsteps ran towards you along with an echo of a cry to ‘stop that man’, and the panic of the voice had you rising to your feet. This city had taught you a great deal of lessons between its various alien attacks, terrorist attacks and a Snap, you had learned to protect yourself. You couldn’t wait on a hero to save the day.
You snapped your cane out, the elastic whipping it into shape as you spun and brought it down on the mugger's head. You had broken too many canes to count that you had commissioned a custom light weight alloy one to last a lifetime. Now it came in handy as the man cried out in pain and you ran the cane down his arm, hooping the ball into the strap off the bag he had stolen and snatching it from his grasp.
The click of a gun being cocked froze you. The sound was quieter than the raucous of the train and left you unable to pinpoint the exact direction the sound came from before you felt someone tear you away. You stumbled and fell but the person kept their hold on your tight as gunshots fired, the burst of sound leaving your ears ringing at how close they were and the pings of the bullets ricocheting off metal.
The arms disappeared for a second before you heard the crunch of metal being crushed, a man groaning and then the heavy thump of a body hitting the ground. A round of applause sounded out as the person who had pulled you away from the gun placed his hands on your arms, patting them down as they looked for any injuries.
“Are you alright?” His voice was warm and laced with concern, the baritone range vibrating your recovering eardrums as he leant in close to talk over the noise of the crowd. He froze under your touch as you gently traced his features, a straight nose, dimpled chin and frown lines etched in deep. “What are you doing?”
“Trying to picture your face.”
His head swivelled away and a quiet oh of understanding fell from his lips as he picked up the cane you had dropped in the mele. The owner of the bag was making her way closer and you recognised her voice from the fight so you tapped the man on the shoulder and pointed in her direction.
“Can you make sure the bag gets back to her? This is my stop.”
You pulled the cane away from the bag and slipped away before he could answer, the doors closing moments after you stepped onto the platform.
“Hey, wait!”
Tumblr media
“Girl, your face is all over the news.”
You hadn’t even taken your jacket off when your coworker, and friend, Ana cried excitedly and took your bag, unpacking your lunch before hanging it up next to hers.
“They want to interview you, there’s even talks of a reward,” she continued as she sat back down at her desk. “That Sergeant Barnes is a dream.”
“The Avenger?” You asked as your interest was finally piqued. “What’s he got to do with it?”
“Duh, he was there. Girl, the man had his arms around you, how could you not know?” You quirked an eyebrow at her question and she scoffed. “Don’t give me that look, I meant he has a metal fucking arm.”
“He was wearing a jacket, I couldn’t tell. How did you know he had his arms around me?”
“Oh, they released the security footage from the train. Damn lucky he was there too, what the hell were you thinking?” You were well versed with the lecture that was coming your way, along with the light slap to your arm followed by, “Are you even listening to me? Seriously, you could have been killed if Bucky hadn’t stopped the bullets with his metal hand. He saved your life.”
“How about, if I ever see him I’ll say thank you.” You murmured as you rolled your eyes and began making your way to the door where the crescendo of barking was coming from.
“Ha ha.” Ana drawled sarcastically before the bell rang above the front door and a real laugh bubbled up. “Speak of the devil.”
“You have got to be kidding me.” You sighed, turning back to the reception as the scent of his cologne blew through, the same one you had inhaled the night before on the train.
“‘Fraid not.” He chuckled. “You took off so fast I didn’t get a chance to talk to you.”
“So you stalked me instead?” You challenged as a strangled groan came from Ana beside you.
“Forgive her, she’s always cranky if she doesn’t get her morning coffee and cuddles.” Ana poorly explained. “Do you want a coffee too? Pot’s almost done.”
“Uh, sure.” He said as you heard his leather jacket creak and he scratched the back of his neck nervously.
“If you want to talk you’ll have to come out the back.”
You left the choice up to him as you opened the door and stepped into the chaos that gave you purpose. There were currently 12 dogs in your care, dogs that no shelter would take and were set to be put down because they were put in the ‘too hard basket’ ie: they couldn’t justify the cost. Most were missing a limb, one had been rescued from a fire and two had been forced into fighting rings but all of them were sweet and protective.
“Just because we have a visitor doesn’t mean our manners go out the door.” You tutted as they all swarmed around your legs. “Line up.”
The mass of bodies disappeared and they settled into the line, falling silent while you felt the bags hanging on the wall for the one you were after. You took a seat on the doorstep, feeling Bucky sit beside you and you reached into the bag to grab the first collar, feeling the braille for the name.
“C’mere Charlie.”
The big, stocky bulldog boldered over and fell onto your lap, his belly facing up for a scratch that you happily gave him. You could feel his tongue hanging out of his mouth and warming your leg, a smile growing on your face at how happy and content he was compared to when he arrived. You gently felt around the stump where his back leg used to be, checking his reaction for signs of pain but he was relaxed and soaking up the attention he was receiving.
“What happened to him?” Bucky asked as he reached out and scratched the dog behind the ear.
“He was subjected to violence by vile human beings - he was thrown into the harbour after he lost a dog fight. Managed to swim his way back to shore thankfully.” You uttered quietly as if Charlie could understand you. “The vet was going to put him down because he was a damaged stray but the receptionist called us and Ana got there in time. They amputated his leg and told us that it was a waste of time, that he wouldn’t make it, but we brought him back here anyway. Isn’t that right, Charlie? We proved them all wrong.”
“Is that why you tried to stop that mugging last night? To prove you can?” He asked and you pursed your lips together as you turned to face him. “Sorry, I'm just trying to understand why you would put yourself in that position given you’re…”
“Blind? Disabled?” You offered as he tapered off to an awkward silence. “When you aren’t wearing your prosthesis does it stop you from trying to pick anything up?”
“No, but I have another arm.” He answered hesitantly.
“And I have other senses.” You explained as you grabbed a ball from the bag and threw it along the large enclosed space, the dogs running after it. “Most of them are missing a leg but they still run. Tango, c’mere girl.”
The smallest of the pack, a fox terrier, sprinted back and her small paws caught your top as she excitedly jumped on your lap having brought the ball back.
“I know what point you’re making but she won.” He said, scratching her back and letting her jump onto his lap with her four little legs.
“She always wins.” You smirked. “Do you think she would be brave enough to chase the ball if she could see who she was up against?”
A comfortable silence grew as Bucky sat petting Tango, the girl who lost her eyesight when she was beaten by a group of teenagers as a pup, and you finished roll call with the collars, getting them ready for their morning walk.
“Did you want to join us? If you don’t have any villains pencilled in your diary.” You asked after the bag was emptied and the dogs all sat quietly in their line, the swish of their tails giving away their excitement. “They get a bit angsty if they stay inside too long.”
“My diary is clear of villains today and rescuing princesses too before you ask.”
“Damn, that was my next question.” You laughed, standing up and grabbing the special leashes that had been made for walking so many dogs at once. “Here, you take Victor, Oscar, India, Romeo, Sierra and Charlie. They could do with being around dominant men a bit more, they need to see they can be trusted.”
“Dominant men.” Bucky chuckled. “I’ll take it as a compliment.”
Before you could retort a witty response Ana called out from the reception, a reminder that your coffee was waiting. You finished clipping each dog into the leash and felt up the rope to check for any frays or tears until you reached Bucky’s hand of cool metal.
“May I?”
“Sure.” He said with the creak of his jacket suggesting a casual shrug along with it. “At least you asked this time.”
The light tone brought a smile to your face and you gently traced the thin plates, feeling them move as languidly as real muscle. “I can’t hear them move.”
“It’s vibranium.” He said as if it explained everything. “Wakandan tech.”
“They must like you a lot to let you use it.” You commented as you followed the curve of the plates up his sleeve. “I didn’t think they took too kindly to outsiders.”
“I’m not in their favour at the moment, that's for sure.” He mumbled before clearing his throat. “Where do you normally walk these guys?”
“Down the road to the dog park. It helps get them used to being around unfamiliar dogs and new scents.” You explained, opening the door and leading the way to grab one of the takeaway coffee cups. “It’s one thing for them to be sociable amongst themselves because they live together and have shared trauma but it’s a whole new dynamic out in the real world.”
“I can understand that.” Bucky whispered to his coffee lip.
“I thought you might.” You said with a little nudge of your elbow. “It’s our survival instinct, but it’s often mistaken for being jaded.”
“Maybe it’s both.”
Tumblr media
“You should think about that reward.” Bucky said as he walked beside you, fighting to keep his dogs from crossing over to yours as you headed back to the shelter.
“I think the city is better off keeping its reward and actually putting money into making public transport safer.”
“I completely agree, but the reward was offered by the woman who was attacked.” He corrected you before he pulled you to a stop. “Saving all these animals can’t come cheap, even just doing an interview will help your cause. You’re doing a good thing here and I know there would be plenty of support if more people knew about it.”
“I don’t need charity, Bucky.” You said after whistling for the dogs to stop pulling at the leash. “I’m doing just fine on my own.”
A low growl, that did not come from a dog, had your eyebrow lifting before his phone rang and he sighed. “I have to go. Will you be alright getting back from here? Was that a stupid question?”
“Kind of, but I’ll let you off the hook this time.” You nodded.
“Would it be okay if I maybe stopped by again tomorrow?”
You were acutely aware that his hand was still on your arm and the heat seemed to radiate far beyond just where he touched.
“I’d like that.” You smiled, reluctantly taking the leash from his other hand.
“I’ll bring the coffee though, don’t tell Ana but this tasted like dirt.”
“Your secret is safe with me.” You promised with a laugh as his phone rang again. “Now go.”
“It’s a date.” He said before inhaling sharply and clearing his throat. “I mean, if, um, if you want it to be.”
“Not really.” You admitted, placing your hand on his arm and trailing it down to find his hand. “I’d rather go on a proper date.”
“Yeah?” He said brightly, his fingers squeezing yours gently. “Do you like jazz? There’s a bar that plays like music on Saturday nights.”
“Sounds perfect.” You followed the sound of his breath and placed a soft kiss on the short beard you had felt the night before. “See you tomorrow.”

seeing the world was never something you could do, with your unfortunate impairment, you couldn’t see anything, having to rely on touch to find your way around.
this was something that people easily took advantage of.
especially one person.
feeling for the doorknob, you noticed how you easily were able to turn the knob…it was already unlocked?
hm, silly, you must’ve forgotten to lock the door.
locking the door as you came inside, took off your shoes, and heading inside the kitchen.
getting a cold glass of water sounded nice right about now, feeling your way around the kitchen with your hand on the island of the kitchen, when you felt a cold cup.
you flinched a little, finding it odd how when you wrap your hand around the glass, there was no signs of droplets forming outside of the cup.
like it was just poured…
you suddenly didn’t feel like drinking water anymore, pouring the water into the sink along with the cup.
already having dinner while you were out, you go head upstairs to get ready for bed.
after showering and getting dressed, you heard the slight creak of the floor which made you freeze from brushing your hair.
not moving a muscle you can hear more creaks, maybe because of the house?
no, it can’t be.
no, it was more like footsteps…
you could hear it now, tiny foosteps, as if someone were trying not to get caught.
but your breath hitched when you realized the footsteps were inside of your bedroom.
you were quick to turn around, trying to hear some more, you could now feel a presence in the room with you.
you being scared was an understatement.
you knew someone was in the house, but you couldn’t see them.
feeling around for your phone, which was in your pocket, you were about to leave your room, ready to run down the stairs and out of the front door with the police on the phone.
but you unfortunately were only able to take one step, when you felt someone’s body in front of you.
you were close to screaming, only to hear a gentle “shh.”
you hyperventilate, hands shaking, when you felt hands take yours.
“it’s just me, sweetheart.” a woman’s voice that sounded all too familiar.
“I knew I’d be able to find you, my love. it was only a matter of time. you’re so gorgeous even from before.”
“m-mina?” you stutter.
the girl only shushed you again, “don’t sweetie. i don’t want to hurt you.” you felt the blade of a knife against your neck which made tears sting your eyes.
“no baby, aren’t you happy? we’re back together again? ever since you left Japan, I was devastated, you know? but, seeing you again, is like old times.” mina, your crazed ex-lover, giggles.
you felt pads of her thumbs wipe your tears, “don’t cry my angel. i’m right here, and I’m not letting you go this time. i’m here to stay.”
she engulfs you in a hug, one you hardly reciprocate, while she whispers, “we’re going to be together, forever. like we’ve always planned, my love.”

I just reread Seeing the Horizon again, and it got me all up in my feels – just such a beautiful, powerful work. It’s perfect as it is, don’t get me wrong! But would you ever consider writing an epilogue/timestamp, even if it’s set years or decades later, where he finds her again? And maybe this time he comes to stay, or brings her to the bunker to stay? They’ve both been through so much, I would love to see these two get a happy ending. Anyway, it’s just a thought. Thank you for being such an incredible and emotion-provoking writer!
Thank you for the love for my words ❤️ It's been ages since I've written anything, and seeing people jump back on this story again has given me so much joy today.
As for an epilogue... I have thought about it. My brain has even begun to craft one several times, but I've only ever gotten a few lines in and then hit a wall. I think a large part of me likes that each reader can create a personal epilogue of their own in their mind, knowing that Dean didn't actually forever die like he thought he was going to at the end of Chapter 7 when he told her goodbye. There are quite a few paths it could go, and the open-ended ending lets each person decide what route they'd prefer to take. So even though there is a pretty solid outline of what happens a few years down the road in my head... I think I'll continue to let you guys decide how that journey ends.

Bone x Blind!Reader Pt 2
Thank you." Y/n said as Bone walked her to her home.
"Y/n!" Her neighbor came running out of his own house. He came to a halt when he saw the large demon. Red eyes glowing in the dark and pale build towering over Y/n.
"A-are you okay?" He asked, eyeing the cannibal warily. Bone smiled, his wolfish nature showing in full light.
Smith grabbed the woman's hand and yanked her away from the demon. Bone rolled his eyes and stepped closer.
"Y/n. I was wondering if you'd be willing to meet me somewhere, maybe for a coffee or whatever it is you like?"
"Sure Bone. That sounds great. What time?"
Bone gave her a time and also gave Smith a dangerous glare before leaving.
"You know I've never been on such a good date before. And not just because of being blind, I mean this was really nice." She told him. Her arm was looped around his. She could feel the muscle underneath his flesh.
"I never asked you what you did to those men."
"Nothing, sweetheart. Pulled out my knife and they ran scared." He lied. In truth, he had already started to eat one, while the others he had dragged into the sewers and chained to keep for later. Nothing like staring at their friend's ripped open carcass to teach them about their fate.
"You have a knife?"
"Yeah. You wanna see it… er, feel it, I guess? Fuck! Sorry." His brief moment of rage was quickly calmed down when her arm tightened against his quickly. "Did I scare you? I'm sorry. You know most people are afraid of my appearance, I mean the personality and diet certainly scare people too, but it's mainly-"
"It's okay, Bone. I won't judge your eating habits. I eat weird stuff too. Everyone does."
Not human flesh, you don't.
"Can I see the knife?" She asked. Bone passed it over to her, careful to keep his hand over the sharp edge of the blade, so she wouldn't cut herself. She ran her hands over the textured handle, then further up to the metal blade. Her fingers skimmed over the steel and brushed against Bone's knuckles.
"There's a hole in it." She commented when her fingers fell into the hollow part of his knife.
"Yeah. Makes it lighter, easier to use." He said, all his focus on her fingers that were brushing against his. He never knew humans could be so soft. Fragile? Yes, he knew that very well. But soft? Nothing could compare to her. Not the silk he used lay in when he fucked rich aristocrats. Her skin was too soft for him to even think about eating. It would be like biting into a live lamb.
"Are you okay?" Y/n asked. Bone looked back into her glazed over eyes.
"I'm perfect, sweet lamb. Don't worry about me." Bone smiled, a genuine happy smile, not the Chester cat like one he normally wore.
"Lamb?" She questioned.
"You're so soft and small, like a baby lamb."
"Well, that's creepy."
"Sorry. Flirting isn't my strong suit." He smiled sheepishly. He would've been embarrassed if he had any ounce of shame, but he did wonder if this was how Zachary felt with Maxenne. All giddy with his stomach in a whirl, but he wasn't sick. Or, maybe he was? Could one get sick off of affection? Is that what happened to Zachary, did Max get him sick with her love?
"Sorry about Smith. He can get overprotective."
"I get it. He's just jealous; wants you to be helpless so he can save you, but now I'm here." Bone didn't miss the frown that crossed her face when he said that.
"No. He's not like that."
"No offense but you don't see the way he looks at you. When I walked you home, he wanted to kill me. Not that he could by any means, even if I wasn't cursed."
"You're not cursed. I don't know what happened to you to make you think that, but you're not cursed."
Bone smiled at her genuine tone. If she could see, things would be different, he might have called her naive.
"Sure. Whatever you say, Lamb."
"Stop it with the lambs!"
"No. Little Lamb." He smiled at her mock offended face. Lamb was definitely her new name.

Blind Tumblr users: don’t get the latest iOS app update!
I just updated my tablet to the newest version of the tumblr app for iOS and it completely broke screen reader access for both VoiceOver and Spoken Content. This has happened in the past already, so I will file a support ticket and copy-paste my text from last time, but this really sucks. I sincerely hope this doesn’t affect all screen reader users, but I’m unsure how they could program this bug in a way it only affects me. If you rely on a screen reader to use the tumblr app, I’d advice to not get the latest update to be on the safe side.
When I say “completely broke access”, what I mean is that no posts on my dash or on individual blogs get read or recognized at all. No plain text, alt text, tags, etc. Note count and buttons still work though.
If you also run into this bug, here’s my advice. If anyone has something more useful, please tell me
File a support ticket and report this bug
Use the browser web version, which still works for me
Interestingly, if you save a post to your drafts and click on “edit” the post text seems to get read correctly. This might be a work-around for some people.
If you have the latest version but your screen reader didn’t break, also please tell me! I would be fascinated to know if this bug is only affecting some people
TL;DR: The latest tumblr app update for iOS made it so screen readers no longer work in the app
Please boost!

October is on the horizon and I’ve been literally dying to talk about this Werewolf! Steve idea that’s been bouncing around in my brain. I’d like to write a fic about it, but hey, if anyone else wants to use this concept, feel free!
But okay, here’s the concept:
Werewolf! Steve x Blind! Reader, where Steve accidentally finds himself becoming her seeing eye dog by accident. Like, he’s full transformation. Just running through the woods like a happy, fluffy boi until he comes upon her. Maybe she got lost, maybe someone led her out there and left her, but either way, she can’t find her way home. Usually she has her seeing eye dog with her, but they aren’t here. (Maybe they got separate or the dog got spooked and ran away, but don’t worry the dog is perfectly safe regardless. They just aren’t there right at that moment)
Anyway, Steve decides that he might as well help her out of the place. He guides her through the woods, warding off any potential dangers that threaten her life. (Like, upside down creatures or just regular animals)
Maybe they even know each other! Maybe they used to be childhood friends, or maybe their families run in the same circles, or maybe it’s just a random meet up of fate.
I kinda wanna have Eddie join in too. Like, you just have Bat! Eddie scouting far ahead to make sure things are safe before coming back to Steve, like how ravens help wolves find prey. Though you know, this time it’s helping someone come back home XD
Or OH! Eddie knows you first, but obviously he can’t just randomly show up to guide you out, so he asks Steve to guide you out of the forest in his Wolf form.
Regardless, I just love the idea of a Werewolf boyfriend that also moonlights as your seeing eye dog. Hell, maybe Steve and Eddie are both werewolves. As much as I love Bat!Eddie, they did introduce him in the show with I Was A Teenage Werewolf by the Cramps. So, you get two fluffy wolf boyfriends!

OPEN LETTER TO FANFICTION WRITERS ON ACCESSIBILITY; PLEASE READ.
first of all, thank you for spending your time, seldom acknowledged and definitely deserving of a compensation you are not receiving, to entertain us. i’m speaking on behalf of more than just blind readers, but everyone. you’re sick as hell.
i’ve summoned you to provide some information you may not already know. i know a lot of you like fonts. especially those who cross post their work on wattpad. i admire any and all acts of aestheticism to a degree, and can understand the desire to use them. (blind folk, sorry y’all. momma’s making a point.) 𝔰𝔱𝔲𝔣𝔣 𝔩𝔦𝔨𝔢 𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔰, it’s cute. 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐟𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 is a little cuter to me, if i had to choose. or maybe 𝓈𝑜𝓂𝑒𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓁𝒾𝓀𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈?
now, sighted folk: if you’re on mobile, i implore you to participate in a little exercise for me. select this text and scroll through all the copy/paste/define/‘search the web’ options until you get to the speak portion. if you need to change a setting for your phone to do so, would you mind? i’d really appreciate it.
please make your phone read aloud part of my post, and be sure to include any bits with those super cute fonts. 𝕚’𝕝𝕝 𝕥𝕒𝕔𝕜 𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕖𝕟𝕕 𝕠𝕗 𝕞𝕪 𝕡𝕝𝕖𝕒, 𝕣𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥 𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕖. 𝕚 𝕙𝕠𝕡𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕣𝕒𝕟𝕤𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕔𝕠𝕣𝕣𝕖𝕔𝕥𝕝𝕪, 𝕚 𝕕𝕠𝕟’𝕥 𝕨𝕒𝕟𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕝𝕖𝕤𝕤𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕠 𝕓𝕖 𝕤𝕢𝕦𝕒𝕟𝕕𝕣𝕖𝕕 𝕓𝕪 𝕥𝕪𝕡𝕠𝕤 𝕚 𝕔𝕒𝕟’𝕥 𝕤𝕖𝕖.
whether you participated and discovered it for yourself or you thought this was a crock of shit you’d rather not sniff, i’ll tell you! screen readers cannot dictate words using those fonts. at least, on a majority of devices. not mine, or any of my mutuals elsewhere.
you do not have to change your behavior on my behalf, but please be aware that fonts limit access to your work.
blind readers do exist, i exist, and i am bound by the same feelings of dogged longing that make other sad horny bitches read angsty, smutty, father-wounded nonsense.
thanks for making it this far. i really hope my sincerity is being conveyed, reading makes me so happy and i’m not the only person on this app who relies on accessibility settings more often than not. do with this information what you will, and have the day you deserve!

"Alright guys, it's been almost a year since the last time we filmed one of these, I think..." Nick began, his body appearing in the camera frame, stopping next to Matt.
"Yeah, and today we have a special guest-" Matt was interrupted by Nick, who swallowed all the rest of his energy drink, stumbling back as he shook his head hard, feeling the burn go down his throat.
"Like she doesn't appear in almost every video." Chris ignored Nick's reaction, momentarily pointing to his girlfriend next to him.
A laugh escaped his throat, followed by a dramatic sound of pain as he received a slap from Y/N as a response, who rolled her eyes at him, crossing her arms and looking at the camera.
"They love me more than they love you guys at this point." She murmured, pointing at the camera with her chin, blowing an air kiss towards it.
"Anyways!" Nick shouted, casting a scolding glance from the corner of his eye at Chris and Y/N, focusing his eyes on the lens. "Today we're going to do the baking blind, deaf and mute challenge, and we have a guest with us, Y/N!" He raised his left hand, pointing it towards the girl momentarily, who smiled big and waved.
"Exactly, and since there will be four of us, instead of three, we will repeat one position. Y/N will be blind with Matt, while I will be mute and Nick will be deaf." Chris explained, wrapping his left arm around his girl's shoulder, pulling her close and massaging her biceps slightly, sealing his lips over her head momentarily.
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
"Okay, today we're going to cook a carrot cake with chocolate frosting since it's our guest's favorite." Nick spoke, his voice coming out louder than normal since his ears were covered by the headphones where music was coming out at full volume.
Y/N nodded, resting her hands on the table, unable to see exactly where she was, her eyes already covered by Chris's red bandana.
"Y/N doesn't eat ready cake mixture, so we're going to make it from scratch!" Matt added, his back resting on the counter next to the stove.
His arms were crossed, and his head was turned in the direction he thought the camera was.
"Let's begin!"
༻﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡﹡༺
"Can someone preheat the oven, please?" Y/N asked, her head turned to the side where she heard footsteps.
A tired sigh escaped her nose when she received no response. The girl moved slowly, using her raised arms for support, feeling wherever she went.
Sudden hands on her waist made her jump in fright, relief coursing through her veins as she quickly recognized Chris's touch. The boy holds her tightly, guiding her slowly through the kitchen, until they reach the stove.
Chris lightly held her wrist, guiding her hand to the button to turn on the oven, waiting for her to do so before letting go of her hand, moving away slightly.
"What is happening? Are you still here?" Matt's voice cut through the air, his figure doing a 360° turn as he tried to understand where the others were.
"In here, Matt." Y/N replied as she walked back to the table, feeling around until she found the ingredients already separated.
The girl reached for the carrots, feeling them to check if they were peeled. They weren't.
"Chris, can you peel it for me, please?" The girl asked loudly, lifting her chin in the air so her voice could echo better.
Footsteps approached, and soon, the carrots were taken from her hands, the sound of a knife hitting the cutting board filling her ears.
The sound of screams filled the kitchen, Nick singing the songs he was listening to as loud as possible, probably dancing around the space, checking every now and then if the others were making the recipe correctly, despite Y/N and Chris knowing it by heart.
"Nick, can you shut up?" Matt asked loudly, turning in the direction where his brother's voice came from.
Nick noticed Matt trying to talk to him, looking back while furrowing his eyebrows in confusion.
"What?" He screamed.
Y/N, who was blindly measuring the correct amount of oil using a measuring cup, jumped in place in fright by the sudden loud sound. Her hand holding the oil shook slightly from the movement, spilling some of the contents onto her other hand and the table.
Her shoulders slumped, but she just kept going, knowing that there was nothing she could do at that moment other than fulfill her task.
After measuring the oil and flour as correctly as possible, the girl felt the table on her right side in search of the cut carrots, no longer feeling Chris' presence there.
Her hands ran across the wooden surface, grabbing the first thing she found in the belief that it was the vegetables, but instead, it was a knife.
A wince escaped her lips, feeling a sharp burning sensation spread from her right index finger to her hand. She had cut herself.
"Can I have a paper towel?" Y/N asked in a low tone, her voice coming out choppy from the pain she felt. "Hey, somebody, a paper towel. Please?"
No one answered her, Matt and Nick's arguing voices only growing louder and louder.
The girl took a deep breath, wiping her finger on her t-shirt, feeling pain and disgust at the same time at the thought of cleaning a wound on a fabric that wasn't as clean as something specific for hygiene.
Her attention returned to the things in front of herself. Y/N replayed her last steps in her mind, making sure she did everything right.
With that, her hand rescued the fuê that she knew was on her left side and began to mix all the ingredients in the ceramic bowl carefully, despite the pain in her hand.
She felt her senses were more heightened than normal, perhaps because her eyes were covered, which made her hear the different steps of each of the triplets, their voices, and in which direction they were going.
But at that moment, her attention was so focused on the mixture that she forgot to pay attention to the three boys.
"Matt, I'm not listening to anything you're saying!" Nick shouted, his tone full of sarcasm.
"I'm just asking you to stop-"
"Don't touch me, Chris!"
"Nick, stop doing that-"
"Stop talking, I can't hear you-"
The impact came suddenly against Y/N's back, causing her to hit her belly on the corner of the table and, consequently, pushing the mixture forward due to the impact. She was certain that everything had been spilled onto the wooden surface when she heard a loud gasp coming from Matt.
Y/N's lips trembled before the tears even came. She felt her eyes burning behind her bandana while her cheeks and chest ached with anguish.
"Y/N?" Chris's voice came out softly, his hands quickly ripping the bandana from his mouth, approaching his girl, ignoring the guilty looks from Nick and Matt as they both removed their respective bandana and headphones.
Y/N didn't respond, resting her hands on the table and lowering her head, feeling the fabric over her eyes getting damp little by little.
"Baby?" Chris whispered, slowly untying the knot on the bandana behind her head, being careful not to pull out any hair. The last thing he wanted was to cause pain on his girlfriend.
He felt his heart sink at the sight of her eyes closed tightly and her eyelashes damp against her pink cheeks. His own eyes quickly caught her chest rising and falling faster than normal in agitation.
Chris moved closer to her, positioning his hands on both of his girl's hips, lightly squeezing the covered skin in an attempt to ground her.
"Hey, hey, pretty girl, it's okay. Deep breaths, hm?" The brunette whispered close to her ear, casting a quick look behind his shoulder at his brothers, silently asking them to move away. "That's right, just like that. You got it, my love."
Y/N sucked in air through her nose, holding it for a few seconds before releasing it through her mouth.
After repeating the process a few times, she could finally feel her heart calm down and the anguish slowly disappear. Y/N opened her eyes slowly, blinking a few times to remove the remnants of tears.
"There's my pretty girl. Are you with me, baby?" Chris smiled kindly, his eyes shining as he looked at Y/N, waiting for her answer.
"Uhum, I am good. Thank you, baby." Her voice came out still a whisper, but in a healthier tone. "Can we continue? I really want to-"
"Wait, is that blood? Baby, are you hurt?" Chris noticed the reddish tone on her right hand, interrupting her sentence and holding her hand delicately with both of his, analyzing the small cut.
"Yeah, with that knife. It was an accident, but it's not hurting anymore." The girl tried to assure him, stroking his hands with her thumb slowly.
"Can we at least clean it? Before we continue." He asked, his tone full of hope while his eyes run through her face, trying to find any trace of pain.
"Okay." Y/N nodded, whispering with a small smile decorating her face.
The boy guided her to the sink, turning on the tap to cold water and slowly bringing her hand closer to the jet, letting the water hit the injured skin slowly, so that it didn't make her feel any more pain.
A wince escaped Y/N's throat when she felt the contact, suppressing the urge to pull her hand back.
"I know, baby. I know, I'm sorry." Chris whispered, his lips pressed against the side of her head. His free hand made small circles on her back, trying to reflect calm to her.
After a few seconds, Chris finally turned off the tap again, drying his own hand before rescuing a few sheets of paper towels. He wiped Y/N's sensitive skin slowly, wrapping her finger around a clean sheet.
"All done, honey."
"Thank you." She smiled, sealing her lips on his jaw slightly. "Can we bake now?" She asked innocently, looking at Matt and Nick, who were still watching them with guilty eyes.
Chris let out a low chuckle at her comment, waving his brothers closer again.
"Are you good, girl?" Nick asked as he approached Y/N, stroking her left shoulder lightly, his eyebrows furrowed.
"I am good, Nick. I promise." She smiled big at her best friend, hugging him sideways and laying her head on his right shoulder for a few seconds before stepping away again.
"Okay then, let's bake a cake!" Matt smiled at the camera, grabbing the nearest roll of paper towels, ready to clean up the mess before they could start baking again.

Question for people who use screen readers or text to speech/audio
When a post on here has lots of emojis, special fonts/text or lots of keysmashes, what is a way to tag those posts so that you guys don't have to sit there listening to nonsense for a minute straight?
Thanks!

hello! could you write johnnie guilbert fluff? maybe a scenario where him and fem!reader are spending a day together (filming a video, doing random stuff) just being two people in love and jake and tara tease them and call them a married couple
deaf, mute and blind | j.g.
pairing: johnnie guilbert x fem!reader
summary: you, johnnie and jake are recording a new challenge video.
warnings: use of y/n, bad writing and grammar(i’m sorry but english isn’t my first language)
an: hi, thank you <33 hope you like it!
pictures are from pinterest :)
Tumblr media
“Hi guys, it’s me, Tara, and today I’m here with Jake, y/n and Johnnie.” Tara introduced you and you all waved to the camera.
“Hi!” you greeted her viewers.
“Today I’m gonna torture my guests… No, but I wish.” she pouted and you all laughed “Today, my guests will be playing into deaf, mute and blind but…they will have many challenges and quests to do throughout the day. But they main goal is to do shopping and bake me cookies! Any words guys?”
“I hope I get deaf, cause I don’t think I can go much longer with them talking.” you rolled your eyes looking at Jake and your boyfriend.
“Hey!” Johnnie gasped pretending to be offended, placing hand on his chest “That hurt love.”
You only rolled your eyes but couldn’t hide the smile that was forcing its way onto your face.
“Alright, so now they will draw sticks and get to know what senses will be taken from them!” Tara showed her viewers three sticks and then she turned to you “Ladies first.”
You took the one in the middle and immediately looked at written words.
“Yeah! I’m deaf today!” You did a little winning dance. Next one choosing stick was Johnnie and he got mute.
“Oh, so I will be blind.” Jake stated “That’s good actually, at least I don’t have to look at your ugly faces.” he smirked and you laughed.
Tara handed you all your things - blindfold for Jake, duck tape for Johnnie and earphones for you.
“Let me also add, that the person who won’t do the most of their mini challenges, has to take a cold shower on the street!” Tara smiled mischievously.
“Is this enough to charge her with domestic abuse?” Jake asked kind of scared.
When everyone was ready Tara started talking to the camera and you could only guess she was explaining to people what you gonna do and not long later Johnnie took your hand to let you know you were going out. You both helped blindfolded Jake to the car and Tara drove you to the nearest store.
She turned on the camera and pointed it at you and Johnnie. You didn’t see anyone talking so you decided to speak “I think Tara already told you guys but we’re making cookies so now we have to find all of the needed ingredients.” you informed and Tara pointed the camera to Johnnie who was gesturing towards some alley. He took your hand and started dragging you there with Tara going behind you but you suddenly stopped, remembering something.
You quickly turned around and jogged to Jake to walk him to Johnnie and Tara. He said something that made Tara laugh and Johnnie’s arms shudder in a silent laugh.
You really started to regret wanting to be deaf one, because not hearing anything yet seeing it, made you frustrated. Also, not hearing Johnnie made you kinda sad. But atleast you listened to your favorite songs.
You all went to grocery alley where Jake gave you his phone so you and Johnnie could find all ingredients for cookies.
Tara was pointing the camera on you all the time and you decided to speak from time to time in case she and Jake weren’t saying anything.
“So we will be doing chocolate chip cookies. Or rather we will be trying to instruct Jake to do it without hurting himself or poisoning us.” you felt a light push on your shoulder and you laughed seeing how Jake was struggling with trying to not miss your form while hitting.
Johnnie swatted Jake’s hand when he tried to hit your shoulder again and side hugged you while looking for flour.
“Johnnie, we need flour for cakes, this one is for bread.” you told him and he gave you a ‘what the hell’ face and you knew that if he could talk and you hear, he would be asking about the difference.
“Alright, I think we got everything.” you stated when you found everything and you all went to cashier’s stands where everyone was looking at you like at idiots, but that wasn’t anything new with Johnnie and Jake.
Tara quickly paid when it was yours turn and you and Johnnie walked Jake to the car.
When you were at home you quickly started to prepare kitchen for your baking.
Suddenly, you felt someone tugging gently at your arm and you saw Johnnie pointing ahead of you. You saw Tara pointing the camera at you all and you took it as a clue to start talking.
“Alright, so now we will be trying to instruct Jake how to make cookie dough, wish us luck!” you smiled sarcastically.
You somehow were cooperating well, Johnnie was showing you the recipe and you were reading it for Jake who then with your and yours boyfriend help were making most of the work.
When cookies were in the oven you didn’t have anything better to do so you sat on the floor in front of the oven and you were just looking at the cookies.
Some time later Johnnie joined you, sitting next to you and placing his head on your shoulder. You hugged him into your side and he gladly snuggled into you, kissing your shoulder.
You sat there for a few minutes, when Tara came to you with a camera and some bowl and told something to Johnnie and then showed you her phone, where she wrote in the notes that now you will be doing random challenges before you could take the cookies out from the oven. It would decide who is the loser of the video.
You all stood in the living room and Tara came to you with the bowl and you took one piece of paper.
“I’ve got ‘activity without your sense’” you read it for them and viewers out loud and then showed the piece of paper to the camera.
Moment later Tara gave you another paper, which turned out to be an instruction what your activity was.
“So I have to call a random contact and try to have normal conversation with that person. That will be hard.” you sighed “Can Johnnie and Jake help me? Like by gesturing?” You looked at Tara and she only nodded.
You looked at the camera and smiled “I’m actually kinda scared that they will gesturing wrong things and I will make a fool of myself.” you laughed and you could see Tara snorting.
Your challenges were done, it wasn’t that bad or at least you were hoping so.
Then you took the cookies out of the oven and tried them when they weren’t hot. They were really good.
“Teamwork makes a dream work, i guess.” you smiled at the camera.
Then you could finally take off the earphones and you were never as grateful for hearing Jake and Johnnie as now.
“God, it’s so good to hear people again. I missed your voice.” you told Johnnie who smiled widely at you and kissed your cheek.
“I’m glad to see again, but I’m scared of how many bruises I’ve got today.” Jake laughed while still trying to get use to the light in the room.
“Alright guys, they made it.” Tara smiled at the camera “I can’t with how cute y/n and Johnnie were today. Literally goals. You were like and old married couple.” she giggled and you smiled.
“So, who’s the loser?” Jake asked after few minutes.
“You Jake.” You laughed “You didn’t do any of your challenges correctly.”
“That’s true.” Tara smirked “You will do your punishment later.”
You stopped recording for some time so Tara could get all of the needed things for Jake’s punishment, so you and Johnnie went to sit on the couch while hugging.
“I really missed your voice today.” you admitted again quietly.
“And I missed talking to you.” he smiled “And kissing you.” he kissed you.
