I can't say if Imogen is representative of how the exaltant Ruidusborn are with regards to how her powers have changed her conception of hypocrisy, but if she is, that puts the Vanguard in an interesting light. That's been the ongoing problem with the ongoing debates about the gods within the party - ultimately, every argument for unleashing Predathos has been a purely ideological one without a strong basis in reality. It's either been a straight up "well, I didn't like how the hospital is run so we should let a horse into it," or a lot of baseless wank about the gods and free will that can be twisted to always back up what you were going to do anyway (which in turn is a really strong point towards free will, but that's besides the point).
Imogen is so focused about whether thoughts and inclinations are good or bad that she neglects the reality of situations. It's in interesting contrast to the conversation we have this episode, in which Bells Hells (once again, but you know, with feeling) comes down on the side of "the gods are really besides the point to what's going on vis-a-vis denying people free will and causing harm to them". And I wonder if the exaltants, at least, among the Vanguard, struggled with that argument in the the same way Imogen does - if they've spent so long thinking of people as a collection of their worst thoughts that they ignore all the actions. It would be a happy accident, but it would explain a lot about how Ludinus got in such a foothold with them.

Thoughts on Gojo Satoru
Gojo Satoru is a character with nuance.
With the release of JJK chapter 236, many people are shocked, confused and outraged at his characterisation at the end of his run in the manga. There are claims of character assassination, of blatant disregard for everything he has done so far, of telling instead of showing. The portrayal of Gojo as someone whose primary motivation was strength has left multitudes of fans reeling.
Nanami states that Gojo’s reason for wielding jujutsu was not his own survival, nor the protection of others, but rather in pursuit of wanton satisfaction. Gojo does not deny this and neither can we. After all, in chapter 233 it was stated by the narrator that as the possibility of defeat crossed Gojo’s mind, an intense feeling of satisfaction bubbled up in him as well. The truth is, Gojo loves jujutsu. He loves his own strength. He loves to use it, to show it off, to flex. He revels in his own power.
Gojo enjoys being The Strongest.
However, he doesn’t enjoy being The Strongest, alone.
The contradiction in Gojo is that, much like Sukuna, he sees himself as More Than. They are beyond humans, beyond curses, beyond anything of this world. They exist in a realm of their own. Make no mistake, Gojo harbours great affection for those around him. He says as much in 236 (みんな大好きさ寂しくはなかった - I really liked everyone and I wasn’t lonely). But he also admits that there was a separation between himself and other other living creatures. This phrasing is crucial. Gojo is effectively admitting here that from his perspective, other humans are as different from him as any other creature of this world. He doesn’t even really consider them to be the same species. This is further reinforced through his analogy of flowers. He states that you can admire a flower and make it bloom, but you don’t wish to be understood by it. Gojo cares for those around him and he cultivated his students to help them blossom, to achieve their potential, but they were flowers to him. They were inferior beings, incapable of understanding his superior existence, and so why should he open himself up to them? Shoko mentally chastises him for this in chapter 220, pointing out that she was right there alongside him even with the loss of Geto, that all his talk of being alone was idiotic because she was there and he could’ve relied on her. But he didn’t because in his mind, Shoko, like everyone else, is inferior and incapable of understanding him. To him, it is pointless to try.
But where Gojo differs significantly from Sukuna, is that Gojo desperately wants to be understood.
Gojo is so painfully human in that way. Perhaps he wouldn’t be, had he never known Geto. But he did know him, and for those 3 years, Gojo knew companionship. He felt understood by Geto because Geto, being equally The Strongest, was capable of understanding Gojo, in Gojo’s own mind. When Geto defected, he called Gojo arrogant in his own strength for saying killing all non-sorcerers would be impossible for Geto and attempting the impossible was pointless, when such a task would not be impossible for Gojo himself. He asks of Gojo, “are you the strongest because you’re Gojo Satoru, or are you Gojo Satoru because you’re the strongest?”. This exchange, unfortunately causes Gojo to misunderstand Geto’s reason for defecting, or at least to oversimplify it. Gojo’s takeaway is that the issue was in Geto’s inability to keep pace with him. This would further solidify his belief that he exists apart from all of humanity. Yet he could not make peace with that. He mourned Geto’s departure and disliked his newfound loneliness (which, mind you, was only the case because of that very belief that only an equal in strength can understand him).
This would drive Gojo to seek out Megumi, something he could have done at any point in the year since Toji’s death but had no motivation to do. The words he says to Megumi are crucial - “強くなってよ。僕に置いていかれないくらい” or “Get strong. Enough to not be left behind by me.” From this, two things are clear. First, that Gojo has no intention of slowing down. Second, that Gojo wants Megumi to be on his level. He’s essentially seeking out another Geto, one that he won’t lose to their own inability to keep up with him. He’s not willing to come down from his superhuman level to connect with the average - as previously said, Gojo revels in his own strength - but rather he wants others to ascend to his level. Gege stated in the fanbook that the reason Gojo went to find Megumi was because he’s seeking talented people, and the reason he helps problem children like Yuta and Yuji is because they’re strong so he doesn’t care about the other details. There is no mention of righteousness or kindness in his actions here. Now, the fanbook is secondary material so I will always err on the side of the main text taking precedence. But since the main text does not give us any explanation from Gojo as to his true reason for saving Yuta and Yuji, and Gege’s explanation in the fanbook on Gojo’s recruit of Megumi aligns with what we see in the manga, it’s likely that his interest in Yuta and Yuji is indeed purely due to their strength potential, at least at first. He does grow fond of them as people, and he wants them to enjoy their youth. But ultimately, his reason for raising them remains that, selfishly, he doesn’t want to be alone at the top.
His idea of “resetting the crappy jujutsu world” is making it so that life as a jujutsu sorcerer is as fun for everyone as it is for him, or at least as he imagines it would be if his youth hadn’t been interrupted by Geto’s spiral. Being a jujutsu sorcerer is Gojo’s job, but he doesn’t resent it at all. Because unlike all the other sorcerers who are here because they have no choice, or because they feel a sense of responsibility to protect the defenceless, or because they fear being killed by curses and using jujutsu as a retired sorcerer is illegal (looking at you, Kusakabe), Gojo is here because jujutsu is fun. He doesn’t feel that inherent drive to protect the defenceless (he actually finds that part of it kind of exhausting) and he doesn’t feel that fear because no curse could remotely threaten him, so he just gets to enjoy jujutsu for what it is. Gojo wants the same for his students. He wants them to enjoy the experience of life as a jujutsu sorcerer, without fear, and without suffering and being forced to question what the hell they’re even doing this for. If they can be as strong as him, there is nothing to worry about - nobody dies, nobody gets left alone, nobody falls behind. It’s an idyllic picture for Gojo.
There seems to be a misconception that 326 suggests that Gojo’s only reason for training the students was to eventually fight them at their best. That is not the case. Gojo’s love of fighting and Gojo’s desire for an equal are two separate things that only got amalgamated in Sukuna. After all, Gojo never sought to fight Geto. We know they scuffled sometimes, but it’s not like Gojo was constantly trying to instigate a death match. His desire for an equal is, on its own, simply a desire to be understood, something he does not believe is possible by a weaker being. He longs for companionship but won’t let himself find it in people he views as inferior. Regardless of having an equal, Gojo still loves his own strength. He loves toying with opponents, and showing off, and brutal violence. The more challenging the opponent/situation, the further he gets to stretch his limbs.
Fighting Sukuna presented Gojo with an opportunity to satisfy both of these things.
Does Gojo have anything against Sukuna or the way he lives his life? Not really. There isn’t an ideological opposition at play here like there is between Yuji and Sukuna, they just happen to be allied with parties who are in conflict. And, with them both being the jujutsu-loving, strength merchants that they are, they’re genuinely excited at the prospect of fighting each other. Gojo does want and plan to save Megumi, sure, but in any case that requires defeating Sukuna. He wasn’t bluffing when he said he’d worry about that later - fighting Sukuna genuinely takes priority, both strategically and selfishly.
In terms of the fight, Gojo has a blast. He gets to go all out like he’s never gone all out before. He’s pushed to invent things on the spot or legitimately just die. He doesn’t even have to toy with his opponent to keep the fight going, he’s sprinting from start to finish and is giddy with it. This is possibly the most fun he’s ever had.
In terms of the emotion, Gojo has been desperately trying to find someone as strong as him because (he believes) only they can understand him. It’s to the point that he has spent the past decade trying to basically build-a-bear some equals. Suddenly, he’s presented with one, fully formed, requiring no additional shaping on his part. It’s believable that he would be excited to take that chance of being understood, being seen wholly, by the only person alive in the world at this moment that he believes capable of wrapping their mind around him, since they’re both so far above every other living being.
And so Gojo fights Sukuna and pours everything he is into it. He pushes his body to its physical limits, he uses every jujutsu ability he’s ever learned, he comes up with new ideas on the spot, he throws out multiple max output attacks. Everything we have ever been told that Gojo is capable of doing gets put on show in this fight. He does all this because he wants Sukuna to see him in his entirety, because nobody else ever has. If he tried to unleash all of this on anybody else, it would kill them before he could even get a quarter of the way through.
See, on the one hand, Gojo’s self imposed isolation is born of his own arrogance but on the other hand, he’s also right in a way; because jujutsu is a part of the makeup of Gojo Satoru - its something he enjoys and it will always be a part of him. Yet he does not fight with allies because in doing so, he would be forced to limit himself. Like Yuta acknowledges in 235, if they were on the battlefield Gojo would have been unable to perform that AoE purple blast without harming them too. He must choose between being alone when doing jujutsu, or restricting himself in this thing that he loves. This feeds into the notion that they can’t understand him - he literally has to contain himself so as not to be too much for them.
He’s not too much for Sukuna, though.
Against Sukuna, Gojo gets to exist in his entirety, unrestrained, and for that he is appreciative. But we also see Gojo’s kindness, or rather empathy. He personally was satisfied by the fight - he was able to be seen wholly. He could simply have a “fuck you, got mine” mentality about it, but we see that he actually feels sorry to Sukuna for not being able to take everything Sukuna is the way Sukuna was for him. Sukuna could not afford to go all out if it meant dying to the other sorcerers as soon as the fight with Gojo ended. I believe this is why he looked less impressive throughout the whole fight - a Gojo giving it his all puts on more of a display than a Sukuna sticking to a pre-determined plan and doing minimal improvisation. But even though Sukuna didn’t let himself go all out, he still won. This would lead Gojo to believe (and it’s not an illogical conclusion) that if Sukuna had been going all out, Gojo wouldn’t be able to take it all. Gojo feels bad about it because he was unable to be for Sukuna what Sukuna was for him, he feels bad that Sukuna will seemingly never experience that same satisfaction (because, of course, if it’s not Gojo himself giving him that, he thinks nobody else can). This isn’t Gojo feeling bad about himself for being weaker, it is genuine empathy for Sukuna because Sukuna is someone that Gojo does actually perceive as the same species as him, not someone he necessarily considers evil or an enemy.
It’s not as bad as he thinks, though, because Sukuna did take immense enjoyment in this fight. It’s true that he wasn’t pushed to the point of having to give everything here, but he was still pushed further than ever before. Many people have confused “he wasn’t going all out” for “he wasn’t even trying” and that’s such a dichotomous way of looking at things - zero or one hundred. Sukuna was absolutely trying in this fight. For the first time in a thousand years, he actually felt the nervousness of possibly losing, because Gojo’s final purple could have killed him. It’s only because it was an AoE attack and not directly aimed at Sukuna that he survived, and visibly in the worst condition of his life. And after slicing Gojo, he praises him (“you were magnificent” is crazy levels of acknowledgment from Sukuna!) and admits that he will never forget him for as long as he lives. This is coming from the guy that called Gojo ordinary and unenlightened just 6 chapters prior. Gojo moved him, this much is undeniable. And Gojo’s smile in his final moment suggests that he heard Sukuna. In the end, he knows that he did reach him in some way.
(Brief side note: Gojo never says he would definitely have lost to Sukuna even without the ten shadows. What he actually says is simply that he’s unsure as to if he would’ve won. And that’s because he, unlike much of the fandom, recognises that Sukuna’s skill and genius understanding of CE and jujutsu mean that without the ten shadows, he would’ve approached the fight very differently, especially those domain clashes, during which it’s clearly stated that Sukuna refrained from using his CT or even domain amplification too much so that the ten shadows could continue adapting in the background. Take out that element and of course Sukuna has more resources freed up to put into fighting Gojo actively.)
So this is the nuance of Gojo’s character. He’s selfish, yet capable of true empathy. He cares deeply, despite his unfathomable arrogance. His motivations are questionable, without being malicious. He sees himself as beyond human, yet at his core is painfully so. He’s not a hero, nor even really a “good” person. But he influenced those around him in ways they will carry forever.

JJK is about cooperation.
Tumblr media
There's nothing I disagree with more than "JJK Is individualistic" takes. Other shonens(and shonen protagonists) are a lot more individualistic, because everybody depends on one person and this person is key to literally everything(Bleach, Naruto, OP, AoT are just like that). JJK is different.
Tumblr media
Loneliness is one of the major themes in JJK, especially Hidden Inventory/Premature Death: Geto's descent to madness, Gojo's awakening, Toji's resentment towards the "gifted" ones, Shoko's isolation are all tied to that feeling. It's never a good thing to be lonely in JJK.
Tumblr media
Gojo's "You die alone" view is debunked as of right now(thanks to the airport scene) and when you go back, you understand that Gojo has always taught his student to not waste their individual potential. Gojo's teaching his students to never resort to sacrifice as a mean of achieving something. But he never said anything about cooperation and weakness being equal.
The villains in JJK are also strong individually AND collectively. They never really operated alone too. Kenjaku has always had strong allies. Even Sukuna has always had Uraume by his side. And when JJK villains do operate separately, they fail. Naoya lost thrice: to Choso, where not only their techniques clashed, but their views on family, and Maki, where he underestimated her once, and then repeated his mistake .
The current narrative shows, that you have to have individual strength in order to bring something to the table, when it comes to the final fight. Gojo wouldn't have nurtured weak students. In order to rely on each other his students have to be reliable, Gege explicitly shows us when all individuals are weak, their collective effort is useless, that's why Kyoto High is a total wreck, and that's why Todo's technique works so well with Yuji, who was just a beginner sorcerer when he fought a special grade curse Hanami.
Tumblr media
Yuji's "cog mentality" plays a huge part in this. He has come a long way, so now he's able to fight alone and take on opponents as strong as Choso. We often see him lose, but that's because he is facing opponents objectively more skilled and expirienced than him. He is motivated to get stronger not because everyone counts on him, but because in order to fullfill his duty as a cog in the mechanism, he has to be strong.
There's a pattern in Gege's writing, that miscalculation WILL cost you something, even your life(e.g. Choso's brothers, Yuki, the Zenin clan, Curse Naoya, Miwa and her binding vow). But being reliant on each other has never been seen as a weakness by Gege. If so, Gojo wouldn't have lost and we wouldn't have witnessed how Gojo's effort helped weaken Sukuna. Additionally, Gojo explicitly told us in the very beginning of JJK that he can, in fact, kill the higher-ups, but that wouldn't change much, because he needs strong allies to change the Jujutsu World.
Tumblr media
That's why Shinjuku Showdown arc ending in real collective effort against evil is essentially proving the point that JJK is about comradery, not individualism. We'll see where this will lead us to. P.S. I would say that there is a certain type of collectivism, that Gege is criticising, that's tribalism that is so prominent in the Zenin clan and rural Japan, where there is a strong prejudice against sorcerers(Mimiko and Nanako's story) and anyone who's different(Kugisaki's flashback). Gege praises anyone who recognises that and is able to leave it *all* behind, by maybe not giving them the happy end, but a dignified conclusion.

What are your thoughts on Kenjaku and Yuki Tsukumo? Is there a possiblity they could've come to respect each other's intellect/power, sworn enemies? Friends?
Tumblr media
Well, at least from Kenjaku's side that all seems to already be the case. They definitely respect Yuki's intellect and power. While they seem disappointed that she chose to rely on Tengen and wants to steer the world in a direction they disaprove of, they still respect her thought process and are actually happy that she thinks in similar ways they do. She disagrees with them, but Kenjaku appreciates their discussions and I doubt they get many of that calibre ever since Tengen decided to keep to herself, so that makes Yuki special.
Tumblr media
She might also be somewhat of a friend to them or she fulfils Kenjaku's requirements for friendship. They see her as an equal both in terms of skill/strength and more importantly intellectually and while I think they think her siding with Tengen and risking her own plans for her is boring, besides that, she does excite them.
It's harder to judge their relationship from Yuki's perspective. She clearly doesn't like Kenjaku (as many do) and finds them irritating (as many do), but I think she still likes talking about her plans and how to change the world with them. They can actually give her pushback, even if their plan is insane. Similar to Kenjaku, I think she appreciates the exchange of ideas. Her talking to Geto in Hidden Inventory shows she likes to receive input from other people and discuss theories. She seems quite desperate for it if she's willing to listen to a teenager going through a mental breakdown for it. Similar to Kenjaku, although I think Kenjaku wouldn't have bothered with Geto's "maybe killing all non-sorcerers will get rid of curses", mainly because it's unrealistic, short-sighted and that isn't Kenjaku's goal or a valuable alternative to it. Either way, since Yuki was an outcast from Jujutsu Tech and seen as a lunatic, I don't think she had many people to have deep discussions with and she missed that exchange. So while she might not have enjoyed the talk with Kenjaku as much as them, I still think she took something valuable away from it. And she respects Kenjaku's intellect/power, simply because they are a real threat.
I honestly wish we had gotten more back-and-forth between them, a real discussion of their principles and plans for the future. It would've also given Yuki a chance to go more into depth on how exactly she plans to make the world break away from cursed energy because as it stands it just sounds like a lofty ideal with nothing to back it up. I wanted to see what steps she had taken to bring that world about. We might find out a little bit more through the book she left behind, but is still very flat and could never cover her full plans, if she had any. Her pushing back against Kenjaku's plan and arguing against them for her own standpoint would have been way more interesting and I think was much needed in their fight to put into perspective what they are actually fighting for here. They have also their experiences with Tengen to bond over. Alas, we didn't get much of that.

It's fun to see how your BG3 Tav's/Durge's personality develops over time, they really have minds of their own even if you had a plan when first designing them. These are the ones I've made so far:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cirrus (tiefling sorcerer):
My first Tav, I didn't have any set plans for him beforehand. When designing his looks I made him heterochromatic and when I found a hairstyle that mostly covers one eye I immediately thought "oh, he covers his demonic eye because he doesn't like it when people stare at it" which set the tone for his character.
Now he is by far the most developed of my Tavs, I know his upbringing and how his life progresses after the game setting. Over the course of his playthroughs he developed into a mostly gentle and very kindhearted character, very confident in his magic but with a certain degree of social anxiety from being poorly treated for his looks most of his life.
Cirrus struggles to resist the charms of a strong man, gets a lot more confident and rather flirty when tipsy, can be very reckless (especially if magic is involved) and loves reading/learning new things.
He falls head over heels for Wyll and is as much a hopeless romantic as him; the rest of the camp goodnaturely rolls their eyes at their lovesick antics.
--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eldora (dragonborn paladin)
Regretfully my least fleshed out Tav yet, but I went into creating her with the idea of a 100 % gold character - gold dragonborn with golden armour etc. I guess some of that later transferred to my 5E Gold dragon character Sorrel.
Eldora is righteous, proud, a bit naive as she is mostly familiar with the dragonborn clan way of life. Classic "I'm not mad, just disappointed" mentality. Expects everyone to do their best, can come off as mean but means well.
Fell quickly for Karlach, appreciating how honest and straightforward she is while feeling deeply for her predicament. She's more than willing to get her snout scorched for a few hot kisses.
--
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Castor (half-elf druid)
My first durge, going semi-blind into that storyline. I chose druid because I liked the idea of a durge that turns into a wild animal to quench their bloodthirst. He's far less concerned with the "commune with nature" aspect but will not stand for cruelty towards animals.
Castor is developing into someone who will not willingly submit to anyone else - not even the murderous thoughts that inflict on his mind. He relies a lot on being intimidating and will never back down from a challenge.
He sympathizes with Shadowheart, who like him remembers little of her past; he also enjoys being around her in general and likes her sense of humour. At the time of writing they've just had their first kiss.
As intimidating as he can be towards his opponents, he's shown some tendencies of a softer side among people he trusts, though his attempts at being friendly need some... polishing ("do you like having your belly rubbed?").

Satoru Gojo (q&a official fanbook)
Tumblr media
"Don't worry. I am the strongest!"
Age: 28 years old
Birthday: 7 december
Level: special level sorcerer
Enrolment modalities: family lineage
Technique: spell of the infinite minimum
Ability: reversal of “Red Glow” technique, continuation of “Blue Glow” technique, imaginary expression “Purple Glow”. Domain expansion: Incommensurable Void. Reversal technique, can throw “black lightning”.
Hobby/special skills: none (because he is approximately good at everything)
Favourite food: sweets
Food he does not like: alcohol
Source of stress: interaction with higher-ups
q&a about Gojo Satoru
Q: How did your character come into being?
A: I wanted an ultra-strong person who was easy to understand.
Q: What do you focus on most when you draw him?
A: Around the middle of the story I started to draw him as beautiful way possible.
Q: What was Gojo's first impression when he first met Geto?
A: But what is that quiff?
Q: When he was a student he used to say that it was a real chore to take care of the weak, whereas now what does he think?
A: I suppose he actually still thinks it is a chore.
Q: Once he got into such a state of mind that he said in front of the Religious Sect members, "Why don't we kill them all? In the state I'm in now, I wouldn't even feel anything." However now he no longer has this mentality. Is it because he has matured?
A: At that time Gojo tended to say what was on his mind and rely on Geto's moral judgement as an indicator to decide what was right and what was wrong.
Q: Did he become despondent after Geto became a dark sorcerer?
A: No, he worked even harder as a sorcerer.
Q: Were his grades in normal school subjects good?
A: In science subjects I think so... My school grades were what they were...
Q: Are the Gojo family members alive and well?
A: Maybe.
Q: Can he teach anything other than occult subjects?
A: In a way yes, but I don't think he has any kind of licence to teach. Normal subjects are taken care of by assistant directors and “windows”.
Q: How much does he sleep?
A: Not much.
Q: He seems aware that he is super handsome. Wouldn't he like to have a girlfriend?
A: I can't imagine Gojo being faithful to any particular woman.
Q: He usually wears a blindfold, but can he see?
A: The six eyes are essentially “eyes that see evil energy extremely clearly”. Even covering himself with the blindfold, it is as if he has high-definition infrared vision. He can even detect objects that do not possess evil energy, such as buildings, thanks to the residual energy around them or from the flow of energy around them. So if he doesn't cover his eyes it's a bit tiring for him, even though he constantly uses the inversion technique to keep his mind fresh. If a normal person wore Gojo's sunglasses he would see everything black.
Q: Why did he go to meet Megumi Fushiguro after hearing about him from Toji?
A: To recruit a talented person.
Q: Why did he offer to help troubled boys like Okkotsu and Itadori?
A: Because they are strong, so he doesn't care much about other details.
Q: Why did he teach Itadori how to defeat shikigami users?
A: Because as Sukuna once said, there are many shikigami users.
Q: Why does he address his students by name?
A: He doesn't make such problems. Those who agonise over such details like me wonder what it means when someone calls you by your name, whereas Gojo doesn't think that way.

Hey! So recently found your AU “The next Gen” and I saw that you mention something about Magic babies if I’m not mistaken? Can you give us some input on what exactly they are, I’m imagining they’re well…babies made with magic, but are there any difference between them and well for a lack of a better word regular babies?
Anyways I really enjoy your Au’s have a good day/night!
(@leviathanswingman I am once again tagging in case I miss something or if you want to add in)
Hey Anon!
First off I'm super happy you're enjoying our AU enough to ask about it! It is something I think is fair to say we enjoy brainstorming for!
So, essentially magic babies are another way to conceive and have well... babies (we've decided that demons at the very least can do this). When we say magic babies, I suppose they can also go along the lines of emotion babies, so like similar to how Satan was born. So in short, even in the AU people don't know much about it (hence why Solomon and Asmo had no idea that Lilith was even a possibility). Out of all of the kids (so far) only Solomon and Asmo's kids are magic babies.
But what exactly does this mean?
The differences mainly stem from how they develop. A magic/emotion baby "pregnancy" isn't going to be like a normal one (you ain't gonna find these babies on an ultra sound). They are born from emotion and rely on magic as a huge part of their development from the parental unit they are using to form. During this period they can affect both parents, but especially the one they are using to develop.
Symptoms we have discussed thusfar can include the following:
Nausea stemming from magic use/outside magical influence
Moodiness
Exhaustion
Enhancement of one's sin
Clinginess/Increased attatchement to other parent(s) of child
Seeking out additional comfort from partner and/or surroundings
Additional scents/magic traces that may attract other demons
Aches and Pains (varying in severity)
Occasionally cravings can also occur
Using Solomon and Asmo's relationship as an example, there have been a few times we've tried to hit on this. Asmo clings to Solomon (more than usual), he doesn't like it when Solomon leaves for long periods of time (which also plays into how magic babies are born) and experiences bouts of exhaustion. With Lilith the symtoms were more mild for a multitude of reasons. Asmo was not in a fantastic spot mentally when she was conceived and Solomon did have things to do (wizardy man that he is) and a multitude of other reasons led her to being a bit premature. Now with Ariel symptoms are a bit stronger. We get to see Asmo's lust amplified, in both his sexuality but also via blood lust. He has issues with another demon thinking he uses his charming abilities as well as family members commenting on his perfume, both of which are baby symptoms, not Asmo's doing himself. This also ties in to some of the danger in child rearing in that it is entirely possible that other demons may seek them out to eat them. Magic babies are rare, but they can give a power boost if consumed (especially one born from a demon lord and a powerful sorcerer) (it should be noted that non-magic born babies can also be targeted). With Ariel, Solomon's moods are also more affected. He has a harder time leaving Asmo alone, is (somehow) even more affectionate (somehow) towards his partner, and feeds into and off of whatever emotions Asmo may be emitting.
Once again, there is little known about these types of conceptions even in the Devildom to the point where people know certain conditions must be met, but the rest is a little murkey. Because of this these children are rarely planned and most of the time they are accidents. Even when planned, the best anyone can do is attempt to follow the conditions and hope something works.
In terms of being born... they're just kinda... uh... Athena'ed out? Kind of?
In short, the difference is you can just sex and
BAM!
BABY!
But you also can't just magic and
BAMB!
BABY!
The process is complicated, condeluted, and uncertain and also comes with it's own set of symptoms.

I am a firm believer in fuel points as a game mechanic. Huge fan, can’t get enough of ‘em. Every character in a tabletop RPG should have them.
Tumblr media
In RAD New World, they’re called Energy Points, but you might also know them in other systems as mana, spell points, ki, fatigue, power, or something even more esoteric. They’re the points your character can spend to do stuff (activate abilities, react to outside action, reroll dice, empower other abilities, or what-have-you) and that come back after a rest or food or simply elasped time.
What’s so great about them, you might ask if you were feeling particularly cooperative with this ramble’s structure? Aren’t they just another resource to monitor, like money or HP, just on a day-by-day scale? On a surface level analysis, sure, but they represent something much more intrinsic to a game’s fun: they are choice. It’ll certainly vary from system to system, but the very best points are the ones that enable abilities that you’ll want to use at least once or twice per encounter but are also sparse enough that you’ll also not want to spend them all at once for fear of not having them in a critical moment before they restore; that quick mental calculation keeps the points present in your decision making process, and friends, that is fun. Making moment to moment decisions in TTRPGs is fun.
And if you really want to harvest happy developer tears from my eyes, make sure the points can be used for more than one function.
Because I’ve got a big enough ego to think my system really is the best, I’ll put RAD New World’s Energy Points as an example of excellent point design. A typical low-level character will have between three and six Energy Points to spend during an adventuring day, with each point either powering a mutation, activating an ability, or allowing you to reroll a failed skill or attack roll. They’re universal to all player characters, creatures, and NPCs, and many, many powers rely on them for fuel, so very few encounters (whether combat, social, or exploration) will conclude without EP being spent... And there are also a sparse few powers that deplete Energy Points from targets. The absolutely most hate-filled, dirty looks players have fired at me have been in response to their character’s EP being attacked instead of HP. They hate it, because they know that whatever hazard is depleting their Energy Points is taking choice away from them and it forces the aforementioned moment-to-moment calculations to change... But even if they hate it when it happens, it’s the sort of hate that gets reserved for everyone’s favorite villains or RPG stories. It’s a special sort of challenge that has to be used in moderation.
My own horn being sufficiently tooted, here are some of the best designed point systems I’ve encountered. 1. Basically everything you do in Cypher System games is about spending your character’s three different point pools to make tasks easier. 2. DnD 5e has Sorcery Points for sorcerers, the battlemaster’s Superiority Die, and monk’s Ki Points, all of which are multi-use and impactful when spent (unless you whiff), but they only get half a tear since they’re basically limited to combat situations. 3. FATE points have a special place in my heart because they not only allow you to increase your odds of success, but also allow you to add or take away elements from the encounter’s narrative as well!

V headcanon #1
POWERS AND ABILITIES, SKILLS
Sorcery, demonology.  As a sorcerer, V has mastered the dark arts, witchcraft, evocation, what have you; “sorcery” is the blanket term for all those forms of magic and specific skills which he practices, including enchanting objects with magic, performing specific rites, and creating spells. In fact, incantations are the primary means through which he casts his spells (and a variety of them, too). They’re phrases which he enchants with his magical/demonic power. A good example of that are the passages he reads from his grimoire when filling up his familiars’ DT gauges; he recites these specific words to imbue his demons with his own natural demonic power. While V has learned to craft spells from objects as well, he much prefers relying on incantations. Demonology here simply refers to his knowledge on the subject and the fact that he will almost exclusively deal with demonic entities, conjuring or binding with them, whatever else. One notable form of magic he can perform is necromancy: conjuring and communing with the deceased, be it human or demon through specific rites. He can bring those deceased to the living plane briefly, and even, as proven by Nightmare's existence, resurrect them and give them form.
Pocket dimension.  With the help of this same innate and inexplicable power, V has learned how to create small “pocket dimensions” that exist parallel to his reality. As such, they exist perpetually in his space. Accessible only by him, and used solely for the storage of his grimoire and a violin he picks up post-game. As he needs instant access to his book in times of combat (and occasionally the violin), this “pocket” is essential. He can "reach” into it through will and psychic force, manifesting his book in the air or in an open palm immediately. Putting the book away works the same. When appearing or disappearing, violet wisps (or, “energy”) fleetingly surround the grimoire; same applies to the violin. These pockets serve only the purpose of portability, because V cannot realistically hold his tools everywhere he goes, or keep a satchel on him and risk that coming off. (And no, he doesn’t keep his book hidden in his pants...?) When comfortably at home, however, he need not make use of astral pockets and instead simply keeps his book and violin among his earthly belongings.
Other magic.  V can tap into a form of magic that is neither sorcery nor demonic power, yet still all innate and all his own. For example, he can influence the color of flame, lighting, water or wind to turn it violet. (His magic has a color, by the way: a “trademark” of sorts, personal to the sorcerer wielding said magic.) He can also conjure images of his familiars within the palms of his hands, to no real practical effect. These are more like parlor tricks to him, and he indeed calls them that as they are harmless and more entertaining than anything. To larger effect, he can use this form of this magic exclusively through his cane to cast an illusion of himself to get out of a hairy situation, such as during his battle with Mirage Cavaliere Angelo. Casting illusions, however, takes a lot of mental effort so V can only really attempt it once before he needs a day or so to recover from it. Additionally, the illusion lasts about five seconds and it is wholly intangible.
Clairvoyance.  A trait passed along throughout his lineage, however tending to skip generations as it had with his mother. V is the latest inheritor, and it's quite keen in him. Thanks to this level of sensitivity, he's receptive to visions and premonitions. He receives these at random; however, a deeply meditative state will facilitate the reception of premonitions, and if he desires strongly to see something in particular he may improve his chances of receiving the premonition sought. However, premonitions are often unclear and vastly infrequent. Different from visions, which are entirely uncontrollable. They represent the past or present and may show completely inconsequential things. These also lack detail, and may occasionally be mistaken for premonitions, but visions are incredibly brief in contrast. Through repeated exposure, V has learned to better distinguish between the two.
Astral projection.  In a meditative or intensely concentrated state, V can leave his body to astrally project to another place. His wandering spirit cannot be seen, but a sensitive individual may well be able to spot his ghostly form. He has little control over where he goes, and the process of projecting is draining. He is not impervious to other supernatural forces, so he is left quite vulnerable to any influence or even attack. He has no real use for this talent, but he may on occasion astrally project in order to define a premonition, or peer beyond the bounds of space to see what is happening elsewhere at the present moment.
Paranormal perception.  Naturally sensitive, V can pick up on paranormal/spiritual impressions left behind. (You could describe him as a “psychic empath.”) Usually effected by strong emotional experiences, the impressions felt are often of tragedy, distress, violence, and bliss. On occasion, these impressions are felt so strongly that they impact and influence his own emotions. He can't see or hear what's happened, only sense it intuitively. He's also able to sense impressions through touching the land or objects that were there during their corresponding event.
Demonic influence.  V's natural demonic essence, however small, allows him to influence his familiars by personally sharing a portion with them to give them a boost in power (what is known in-game as their Devil Trigger). He's also able to expend a portion of his demonic power to restore their vitality when they've been stalemated or injured. He can also use this power to influence Nightmare's size when it's summoned, but this drains a generous amount from his body so he can't keep it up for long. Naturally, expending himself this way leaves him fatigued once all is said and done.

Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Epilogue
Tumblr media
“You’re going to a party?” Doctor Strange crossed his arms over his chest. Your phone screen couldn’t accurately capture the extent of his disapproval, but the video call would just have to do. Although your mentor did threaten to use the sling ring to come talk to you in person, you convinced him that a personal visit wasn’t a wise idea. What if you were being watched? So just like Druig had check in calls with Sersi every morning, you had calls with Doctor Strange every night. Tonight, your phone was propped on the window sill as you got ready for the party.
“Yes, I told you that yesterday. Besides… what could go wrong at a party?” You asked with a sly smile. In truth, Doctor Strange had been sending you mildly worried texts ever since you told him about your meeting with Modredus. It had only been a day and a half since you sat at the cafe with him, but that was plenty of time for your mentor to fret over every possible way this plan could go wrong.
With a sigh, you slipped your sling ring and Merlin ring onto your fingers, the final touches on your evening outfit. You took a step away from your phone to look in the large mirror in your room.
“You look nice,” Doctor Strange said in a tone you hadn't heard before. He quickly added, “but you need to make sure you’re careful. You need to make sure your mental shields are raised. Don’t rely on the Eternal for your safety. If Modredus senses something is wrong, you’ll be the first to get hurt. Remember, you’re going to be with him for a while if everything goes according to plan.” You rolled your eyes and picked up your phone from the window sill. Your mentor was still talking but you were only listening with one ear. You used your free hand to open the window just a little bit. The cool night air felt good. The starry sky was difficult to see with the city lights below, but you enjoyed this city more at night. There was a small part of you that was excited for the evening.
A knock on your bedroom door interrupted Doctor Strange. You called out that it was safe to enter your room. Druig came in slowly, head ducked slightly.
You looked him over as he walked in and hoped that your face remained neutral. He looked good. He looked very good.
“Will you be ready to go soon?” Druig asked after a moment.
“Is that Druig?” Doctor Strange asked from your phone. “He’s up late.” You smiled as Druig hung his head. If you didn’t know any better, you would have thought he was laughing.
In truth, Druig was trying to hide the warm flush in his cheeks. He had expected you to dress up for the evening, but he still hadn’t prepared himself for seeing you in the well fitted dress. He wanted to compliment you but he worried that this wasn't the time. As he listened to you finish your conversation with Doctor Strange, Druig couldn't help but imagine what a night out with you would be like - what a real date would feel like. You laughed at something Doctor Strange said and Druig wondered what he would have to do to make you laugh like that.
“You’ll keep an eye on y/n?” Doctor Strage looked at Druig through the phone. Druig took a few steps closer to you, standing so that his face appeared over your shoulder. He nodded to the doctor and caught a whiff of your- was that perfume? Druig tried not to inhale too deeply as he listened to the doctor speak.
“She’s a trouble maker, though,” Druig said, glancing at you. He was delighted to hear your little cry of disbelief. You muttered something about hypocrites and Druig let out a low chuckle as you pushed him away from you. As you moved, a small pouch of your strange yellow powder fell to the floor. It must have been in a pocket, Druig guessed. He knelt to pick it up but you quickly brushed him away.
“I got it,” you muttered. You held the phone in one hand and picked up the pouch with the other.
“Is everything oaky?” The doctor asked through the phone. He was looking at Druig but you spoke first.
“Yeah, just dropped my ring.” You smiled at your mentor.
Why is she lying to him? Druig wondered. He took another look at the sack of powder in your hand and narrowed his eyes at you.
“Druig will keep a close eye on me,” you said to the doctor, “and I will stick to him like glue. I promise. Besides, my fiance just can’t get enough of me.” Druig rolled his eyes and was pretty sure Doctor Strange gagged a little.
“Hardly,” Druig mumbled. You only smiled at him and continued to talk to your mentor. Druig wondered if you recognized the lie for what it was.
He found himself smiling once more as you prattled on. For him, the past five days had been alarmingly comfortable. You didn’t push him to talk when he wanted to be silent and - despite the banter that the two of you had - you knew how to take a joke. Druig liked that you could take care of yourself, too. Over the past few days, he had noticed that you surveyed the rooms that you entered and discreetly searched every corner for danger. You slept lightly, judging by the ever present dark marks under your eyes. You noticed small details he often missed. He had no doubt that you were a good spy, a clever witch. As long as you weren’t leaving a trail of little green plants in your wake.
“Ready for a night out?” You asked after you ended the call with Doctor Strange. You tucked a small dose of the yellow powder into a discrete pocket and Druig watched you twist the Merlin ring on your finger.
"Don't be nervous," Druig pulled your hand away from your ring. He let his hand drop but he didn't release his grip on your wrist. His arm fell to his side, fingers tangled in yours. Your skin was unexpectedly soft. His eyes watched your face as you looked down at his hand holding yours. He heard the cool night breeze rush in from the open window but he only felt your warm finger tips close around his hand. He heard his breath stop as you took a half step toward him, eyes still on the ground.
"Don't tell me what to do," you finally managed, speaking so softly Druig wondered if he had imagined your voice. He sucked in a breath as your smiling face looked back up at him. The breeze blew a few strands of your hair across your face. He could have watched the tiny lines dance along your cheek all night.
Druig's eyes followed the fingers from your free hand as they tucked the loose hair strands behind your ear.
"Tell me what you want to do then, little witch," Druig dared to say. It was more of a question than a command. What did you want? Could it be the same thing Druig found himself wanting?
"If we dance tonight," you began slowly, "you have to lead. I'm a horrible dancer." Truth be told, Druig wasn't a great dancer either. He once braved a ball in Versailles, but he was no match for the men of the court. Still, Druig suddenly found himself embolden by something. Maybe it was the cold breeze or it could have been the evening lights from the window or perhaps it was the way you were looking at him.
Druig slid one hand around your waist, pulling your body against his. He lifted your hand up as if the two of you were about to begin a waltz.
"Can you sing?" Druig asked but you shook your head. Ah, he could take a hint. He almost let you go but then he found your other hand resting on his upper arm. The two of you stood like that, waiting for music that wasn't going to come.
As if breaking some kind of spell, Druig felt you shiver in his arms. He pulled himself away from you, leaving you to rub your hands along your arms for warmth.
“Should I grab a jacket for you?” Druig took a step toward your suitcase, but you shook your head.
“No, I just skipped my evening drink of something warm. I’ll get one at the party,” you answered. Druig raised a skeptical eyebrow and closed the bedroom window.
"You're drinking tonight?" Druig asked, trying to shake off the strange feeling he couldn't name.
“Don’t worry, mom,” you chided, “I promise not to drink too much, and I’ll just steal my date’s jacket if I get too cold.” You smiled and tucked your hands into your pockets. Your laugh seemed stiff and Druig remembered that you pocketed some of the yellow powder earlier. He assumed you must be taking the yellow powder along so you could slip some into your drink.
“Just promise to behave, my clever witch,” Druig smirked. You rolled your eyes but as you took a graceful step towards him, he silently held his arm out for you. You pulled a fresh clover from your Merlin ring and tucked it into Druig’s lapel. He found himself hoping that you’d stay close to him all night.
*****
When you and Druig arrived at the hotel, he was surprised by how loud everything was. This was no ball in Versaille. The lobby seemed to shake to the beat of a strong base from the biggest speakers Druig had ever seen. The room was crowded with people of all ages who danced and talked in dimly lit corners. If Druig felt a little uncomfortable, you were even less comfortable. Your grip on his arm tightened and you pressed yourself into his side a little more. Druig could feel your sling ring and dragon ring through the fabric of his jacket.
Thankfully, the two of you were saved from looking for Modredus. Almost as soon as you entered the overwhelming hotel lobby, Drug heard a voice from behind him. With the music so loud, Druig didn’t hear what was said, but he recognized Modredus nonetheless. The tall man seemed to only have eyes for you. His hair was styled out of his eyes and his sleeves covered most of the tattoos. Druig tightened his hold on your arm as Modredus smiled at you with all his teeth. Indeed, when he spoke, it was only to you. Again, Druig found himself pulling you even closer to him as Modredus smiled down at you.
Before Druig could convince you otherwise, you began to follow Modredus. You dragged him alongside you by the grip you had on his arm. Druig allowed himself to be pulled through the crowded room, determined not to leave your side. He watched as you subtly looked for the exits while you trailed behind Modredus.
Finally, after descending a set of stairs and taking several turns down a quieter hallway, Modredus lead you and Druig into a conference room. There was a round table in the center of with three large rectangles covered by dark blankets. In every corner of the room was a large, armed guard.
“Before we can work together,” Modredus began, “I have a test for you, gorgeous.” Druig scowled as Modredus folded himself into a plush seat by the table.
“I don’t recall agreeing to work with you, Mr. Modredus.” You replied.
“You’re here, aren’t you?” Modredus waved a casual hand around the room.
“Let’s go,” Druig huffed. For the first time, Modredus deigned to look at Druig.
“And this must be your future ball and chain,” Modredus’ eyes swept over Druig. To Druig’s credit, he didn’t immediately try to mind control Modredus. You could tell that Druig wanted to, though. You needed to get this conversation moving before Druig tried to do something brash. As it were, you and Druig had altered the plan. Now, Druig was just going to try and mind control Modredus. However, the two of you needed to time it well. If Druig tried to control Modredus outright, then he would know by Druig’s eyes that he was an Eternal. Even if Druig could successfully control Modredus, that wasn’t a risk that Druig wanted to take.
“What’s the test?” You asked. Druig looked down at you as you placed a comforting hand againt his chest. Your hand rested over the clover you had previously tucked into his lapel. Modredus turned his gaze back to you and smiled.
“I have three paintings here,” he said and nodded to the covered rectangles, “Two are fakes and one is real. Tell me which is the real one, and we’ll be in business.” As if on cue, three guards uncovered the paintings. The artwork was gorgeous but each one was identical. At least, they seemed that way.
The four guards all turned and stood with their back against the closed door of the conference room. Their movement felt like a threat as if Mordredus was implying the only way out of the room was to pass this test. You were safe, you told yourself. Druig was here and he could just mind control everyone in the room, right?
Gingerly, you released your grip on Druig. The room felt colder without you by his side. He watched as you took a few slow steps toward the paintings and Modredus suddenly rose to stand with you.
You could almost feel Modredus’s breath on your neck as you looked from one painting to the next. While you didn’t know enough about art to tell which painting was real, you were still a sorcerer. You silently willed magic into your Merlin ring. Like a magnet, the ring began to pull you towards a painting.
You were stopped before you could take another step.
In a flurry of motion, you heard movement behind you. You felt Modredus pull you close against his chest. He wrapped an arm around your waist and pressed something cold against your neck. He held you so that your back was pressed against his chest. He turned both of your bodies around to face Druig and the four guards by the door. They were all pointing guns at you and Modredus.
You let out a breath as you saw Druig’s glowing eyes.
“So you’re more than just a ball and chain,” Modredus hissed. His face was so close to yours that you could smell his breath and feel the flecks of angry spittle. His grip around your waist was unbearably tight.
“Let her go,” was all Druig said. He took a step towards you but then you heard something click under your neck. A gun. Modredus had a gun aimed at your throat. Druig froze. You knew that the guards’ minds were under Druig’s control, but you currently had five deadly weapons pointed at you. Your heart was beating too quickly.
"He won't stop them for me," you tried to say. To your immense displeasure, your voice wavered. Druig's eyes flashed to you. His golden eyes soften just a hair as you gave him a gentle smile.
“You can’t get in my head,” Modredus said with a sick sort of glee. “Your finance and I are leaving. If you’re nice, I might return her to you. And let’s be honest, we both know you’re going to want to get her back. She is exquisite.” You realized then that Druig probably tried to mind control Modredus while his back was turned. As you were looking at the art, and Modredus was looking at you, Druig tried to get into Modredus' mind. Unfortunately, he must have realized what Druig was doing as well. Was he surprised that Druig was also an Eternal? Did Modredus even realize that Druig was an Eternal?
“Druig-” you tried to speak but Modredus pressed the gun so hard against your neck that you cried out. Modredus gave you a sharp shake, telling you to be quiet.
"Enough," Druig and Modredus locked eyes.
"Oh," Modredus cooed, lips against your ear, "I think he doesn't like that I have you, gorgeous. My little captive." Modredus wrapped his arm tighter around your middle, purposefully making it difficult to breath. Your ribs would have hand shaped bruises by morning. You tried to shift against Modredus' grip but he only pressed the gun harder against your neck. You let out a yelp before cursing Modredus.
"She's mine," Druig's accented voice was as hard as sharpened stone. Your breath caught as Modredus hummed with glee. Your rings. If only you could focus for a moment and use your Merlin ring to cast a spell. Or even your sling ring to get Druig out of this room.
“Stand back,” Modredus said in a whisper. You looked at Druig, whose every muscle seemed to be straining right now. You gave him the smallest nod, hoping that he would understand that you would be okay. If Druig needed to take the shot, you could heal.
To your surprise, all of the body guards lowered their guns. Druig took a small step to the side, clearing a path to the door. Modredus nodded and pushed you toward the exit.
“Atta girl,” Modredus murmured, “look at how well you both are behaving! I couldn’t have asked for a better pair. We’re almost done with the dangerous part-” as Modredus arrived at the door, he was foolish enough to remove the gun from your neck. He needed to use that hand to open the door. You and Druig recognized it as an opening.
Everything happened too quickly.
Modredus cursed as he realized his mistake; you heard gun fire from the guards; you tasted blood in your mouth; you heard Druig calling your name.
The whole world turned black.

“Don’t you think you’re being a bit too clingy with me?”
Slyly shifting your eyes to the side, you began to gape at the tall sorcerer right beside you, as he continued to move forward to wherever he was going - to be honest, he didn’t even know himself.
“And do you have a problem with that? I don’t see you pushing me away,” you teasingly commented as you let out a little giggle trying to lighten up the sombre atmosphere that was clouding around you and Geto at this current moment in time.
Unbeknownst to your classmate, you could feel the suffocating pressure that he was carrying in his heart, suffocating to the point where you were nearly choking onto the curse energy that you were sensing. However, you couldn’t blame him at all for feeling this way all.
Ever since the assassination of the Star Plasma Vessel, Geto couldn’t help but feel a sense of heavy guilt surrounding him after the killing of Amanai Riko and with the situation of Gojo becoming stronger than he had anticipated, Geto started to feel more isolated than ever.
Well, he would've if it wasn’t for your constant presence.
To be completely honest, Geto was perplexed on what type of sorcerer you were. You never really revealed what your cursed technique was to anyone but knew you were extremely skilled with cursed weapons and tools, to the point where you were able to embed your curse energy and create your own through craftsmanship as a talented armourer. However, he was still intrigued by what you were naturally skilled at.
“Y/N, what type of sorcerer are you?” Geto asked in a curious tone leading you to halt for a quick second, as you began to think about what you could answer to the sorcerer who was now directly in front of you.
How could you answer?
Actually, were you even allowed to answer?
Even though it seemed useless to some sorcerers, your curse technique was the ability to sense the emotions of humans, curses and sorcerers and though it seemed to be simple, your technique was an extremely rare ability due to your whole existence used to help reduce the number of curses being formed - you were fundamentally the possible sole solution of the extinction of curses, especially ones that could develop into special grade curses.
However, you weren’t allowed to inform Geto that let alone anyone else that you known of. You were informed by Yaga sensei as well as the higher-ups to not tell anyone about it.
“I’m just a weapons specialist Suguru, I thought you already knew that,” you answered with a smile on your face, as you walked closer to catch up with him before linking your arm with his to keep him close to you leading to the intense curse energy around you to lighten its hold on you slighty causing a small but noticeable smile to form on your face.
“I’m not as strong as you, but I know how to deal with people, so rely on me a bit more aye?” you rhetorically asked as you began to drag Geto to wherever you wanted, needing to make sure he was going to be alright and nothing was going to happen to him later on.
Surprised, Geto couldn’t help but stare at the back of your head with widened eyes as he continued to let you take him to where you wanted to take him. Geto didn’t know why but he couldn’t help but draw a tiny smile on his face as he also let out a light laugh.
“Yeah, I rely on you a bit more often Y/N”
                                             ꕥ
“Then we should just kill all non-shamans”
Widening your eyes in complete horror, you suddenly became frozen as you stood beside the doorway that would lead you to the very conversation that Geto and special-grade sorcerer Tsukumo Yuki were having right now.
Leaning your body against the wall, you tried to balance yourself as the feeling in your legs slowly began to give away with the intentions of not wanting to make any noise of revealing that you were eavesdropping the horrific statement your friend had suddenly made.
‘Kill all non-shamans, is he crazy?’
“Geto-kun, that’s a decent plan,” Yuki mentioned causing you to turn your head to the side of the entrance with pure shock as her comment was not helping with the situation at all, as well as the intense amount of antagonistic curse energy that was practically choking you at this point leading to the feeling of your throat agonisingly closing up due to the extreme field of negative emotions that was being manifested between the two strong sorcerers.
“However, there is no need for that when we have L/N around,” Yuki suddenly mentioned, causing Geto to look at her with confusion to which lead her to continue with her explanation by saying, “well her curse technique is extremely powerful since she can sense emotions and that lead to the reduction of curses being formed, haven’t you notice the lack of mission you been sent on recently?”.
Thinking about her question, Geto couldn’t help but suddenly realise that Yuki was correct at the fact that he had been on little to no missions recently. Was it because of you? Curse technique that can sense emotions? Was that why you have been by his side for quite some time?
“Even though Gojo is the reason why there is a balance in the world, L/N is the reason why there is peace you know, but that’s a story for another time,” Yuki huffed as she suddenly got up from the seat before placing on her leather jacket. “I gotta thank her though, she is the reason why I get to go aboard so many times, maybe I should take her to Paris as a ‘thank you’ gift?” Yuki questioned herself while pointing her chin with her index finger to emphasise her thoughts before coming to the sudden realisation of something.
“You never told me your answer to my question,” Yuki mentioned with a small pout, leading to Geto looking at the woman with a bewildered expression on his face leading to her to then ask, “what kind of woman is your type?”.
Looking at the special grade sorcerer with a blank expression, he couldn’t suddenly think about the comment you had said to him earlier.
“I’m not as strong as you, but I know how to deal with people, so rely on me a bit more aye?”
‘What a liar,’ Geto thought as he smiled at the small but fond memory, ‘you are strong Y/N’
“My type of woman is someone that I know I can rely on”
                                              ꕥ
Feeling a sense of coldness upon his cheek, Geto couldn’t help but shift his eyes down to see you pressing a cold water bottle to his face as you began to sip on the can of cold coffee that you have brought from one of the vending machines that were nearest to the track field where you and Geto were training at.
“Thanks,” Geto said with gratitude as he took the bottle from your grasp before taking a quick gulp of the refreshing liquid that was smoothing his body from the disgusting heat and sweat that he had produced from fighting with you.
Geto couldn’t lie to himself. He had completely forgotten how masterful you were with your weapons as well as how physically strong you were when not using your curse energy. You were really the ideal sorcerer in some ways even when your curse technique had nothing to do with exorcising curses at all. Geto really admired you for that.
“Are you going to continue staring?” you casually asked, as you tilted your head slightly to take a quick peek at him before cheekily commenting “am I that beautiful~” leading you to laugh at your own comment to which Geto followed suit.
“You’re beginning to act like Satoru,” Geto mentioned, leading you to express a concerned look as you didn’t want to act like your annoying classmate, leading Geto to laugh once again at your grimace expression causing you to turn to him with a soften look.
From what you could sense right now, the curse energy that was swimming around you and Geto was tranquil to the point where it was peaceful. From what you could remember from the beginning, this situation was the complete opposite since the incident and that put nothing but a slight warmth within your heart, the curse energy back then was suffocating which was contrasting to this feeling that could nearly put you to sleep. Geto has made so much progress during the few months that had passed but what surprised you to most was how fast he had made progress, even after the little situation with Yuki.
‘She really had to snake out my technique huh?’
“Are you going to continue staring at me? Am I that handsome~” Geto then teasing asked, leading you to snap out of your thoughts before realising that he was mocking you slightly from your earlier comment. However, before you could either counter him with your annoyance, you suddenly notice the sorcerer lean forward towards you causing you to slightly step back before feeling a light touch on your forehead.
Pulling away, Geto managed to get a glimpse of your surprised expression with a hint of pink hues on your face before letting out a cheeky giggle. “Maybe you’re not like Satoru, he’s not the shy type anyway,” Geto playfully mentioned before grabbing your hand that wasn’t holding the coffee as he began to drag you away from the track field where you both were training at before.
“Thank you for taking care of me,” Geto softly said with a hint of appreciation as he continued with, “rely on me also okay?”
Feeling shy, you looked down to your connecting hands before tightening the hold as the curse energy that surrounded you both was now feeling more gentle and tender than it had ever been before. However, you still had some questions in mind.
“HEY! You can’t just kiss my forehead and grab my hand like I ain’t going to ask questions Suguru?” you exclaimed, as you began to frantically shake your interlocking hands in a slight panic causing Geto to look at you with surprised expression before laughing loudly at your sudden outburst.
Even though Geto knew you since the beginning of his enrolment at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, he had never seemed you once looked so flustered like you did right now. You were always the calm one between him, Gojo and Ieiri, so this was a whole new sight to him.
Tightening the grip of your hand, you crazy shaking came to a slight pause as Geto began to slowly but tenderly pull your hand towards him, only to then land a light kiss on the back of it leading to the once pink hues that were painting on your cheek to become rose red.
“Rely on me to make you blush, okay girlfriend~?”

WinterIron fic rec 2021: Part I
Note: this fic rec consists only of Bucky Barnes/Tony Stark fics. the only Stucky & Stony you might see is as past relationships but that’s it. it’s also complete works ONLY. also - no underage stuff 🔪.  if you have any requests for Winteriron fic recs (for e.g non-superpower au, only one shots, series, hardcore smut, post-tws, college au, not team cap friendly fics, bodyguard au etc.) you can send me requests ^^. anyway... enjoy 😉
✨ The Guiding of Death by RayShippouUchiha
“That whole Merchant of Death thing,” someone off to the side faux whispers, “makes a lot more sense now.”
It echoes across the bridge like a gunshot.
Rated M, Hades & Persephone AU, Canon Divergence, always female Tony Stark, not Team Cap friendly. word count: 41391
(note: listen... I know het pairings and/or gender bend is not popular and I never really read those in general BUT this is straight up one of the best fics I have ever read so I NEEDED to share this with y’all...✌️)
✨ Forms of Love by bear_bell
Tony's the bad guy, after all. He's used to it. He's fine with it. He's good at it.
Only now, there's something far worse loitering around the tower - The Winter Soldier. No one notices the guy at first, but when they do, Tony figures that he should have the soldier's back.
Birds of a feather should flock together, and the bad guys should start a book club.
Rated E, Post-CW, Bucky Barnes & Winter Soldier are Different Personalities, Team Iron Man. word count: 33591
✨ Looking at You by NotEvenCloseToStraight
Bucky looks for so long that now all he wants to do is touch and hold and fix everything. But Tony can barely be in the same room as Bucky, cant even look him in the eye. So Bucky doesn't know what to do about Tony, but he is determined to do something. Because all he wants is to look at Tony, and see Tony looking back with a smile.
Rated E, Post-CW, PTSD, team heals, mental healing, forgiveness, angst with a happy ending. word count: 28,168
✨ I'll Be Your Bodyguard (If You'll Be My Security Blanket) by NarutoRox
When one of Loki's pranks gone wrong leaves the team with a young Winter Soldier in their care, they know they're going to have their hands full. Especially since this newer, tinier version of Bucky seems to have a bodyguard complex - and a particular attachment to Tony.
Rated T, kid fic, age regression/de-aging, de-aged Bucky, tiny bodyguard Bucky. word count: 4,993.
(note: finally something CUTE. Im so sorry for being such a slut for angst and heavy stuff 😅)
✨ Fate Strings Not Required by Akira_of_the_Twilight
Tony took the hint.
Tony wrapped his hand around the new guy’s elbow. He kept his touch light and breakable in case he’d misread the cue.
“Just some guy claiming to be my soul mate, babe.”
The new guy’s eyebrows rose to his hairline in surprise. He chuckled and gave the first guy a smirk. “Strange. Last time I checked we were soul mates.”
Rated T, AU - no superpowers, AU - soulmates, Bodyguard Bucky Barnes, age difference. word count: 7,032.
✨ Shameless  by Finely Honed (jaqen_hgar)
Tony isn’t actually sure which of them starts it—he’d like to take credit, but if he’s learned anything it’s that Barnes is by no means a wilting flower. Besides, the start doesn’t matter as much as figuring out who’s going to actually finish it.
rated M, flirting, dirty talk, sexual tension. word count: 2,560
✨ Winter Wooer by salytierra
Winter may not be the most pleasant guy to live or share your body with, but he isn't nearly as destructive as everybody expected him to be either. He likes to brood in the corners, watch British TV, and freak people out. And Tony. He really, really likes Tony Stark. There's just one problem – Bucky's pretty sure he doesn't feel the same way about the guy.
Rated M, Bucky Barnes & Winter Soldier are Different Personalities, team as family. word count: 8,726
✨ Even Darkness Must Pass by Finely Honed (jaqen_hgar)
“Fake it till you make it,” Bucky whispered to himself, swallowing around his panic. Sam had drilled the idea into him, and it had become a mantra of sorts, something to hold onto when all he wanted to do was blend into the shadows and disappear.
“You’ll be fine.”
Steve placed a warm, strong hand on Bucky’s shoulder and squeezed, his super soldier ears having picked up Bucky uttering the now familiar saying.
Bucky nodded, tried to believe his own words, and followed Steve onto the common floor, a wall of sound hitting them as they entered.
rated M (but mild sexual content), parent Tony Stark, Bucky Barnes recovering, team as family, of love and hobbits 🧝🏻‍♂️. word count: 15,289
✨ Paths Are Made by Walking by Potrix
The road to recovery is long, winding and a different one for every person walking it. Bucky chooses to help himself the only way he knows how; by doing what he does best.
Or, alternatively; the one in which Tony is a mess and accidentally kick-starts Bucky’s protective mother hen instincts.
rated T, post-TWS, fluff, humour, getting together, idiots in love. word count: 4,744.
✨ Rise In Perfect Light (Be Not Fearful Of The Night) by RayShippouUchiha
At first, the new element singing in his chest, Tony doesn’t understand what he’s done.
Doesn’t understand the full consequences of his actions.
But, to be fair, there’s no way he really could have.
Not even a futurist like him could have ever seen this coming.
rated G, post-CW, past Stony, angst with a happy ending. word count: 3,589.
(note: this fic is SO BEAUTIFUL. lemme just asjkdjnsjkdm)
✨ and amidst the ruins, there was you by TheKitteh
With everything resolved - post the Berlin conflict, Siberia and the rogue Avengers' return - Tony relishes in the clarity of what the team is now. He can finally see the well-defined lines, he can rely on solid rules and the chain of command. He's settled into his life like never before.
That is, until one day, an unhinged sorcerer with no grasp on his magic shatters that new-found balance.
As a result, half of Tony's soul is now gone, but he's willing to do anything to get it back.
rated T, post-CW, canon divergence, au - Dystopia, Dimension Travel, magical accidents, slow burn, getting together. word count: 36,976
✨ and so we unfold by TheKitteh
Senbazuru. Thousand Cranes.
An ancient Japanese legend that promises anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by the gods. Some stories believe you are granted happiness and eternal good luck, instead of just one wish, such as long life or recovery from illness or injury.
Bucky’s not big on believing in any legends, not after all that has happened. He just wants to create something for a change, not destroy.
He needs to prove himself that he can be trusted to handle something delicate. He doesn’t need a promise of a wish come true. He just,- needs to do this for himself.
He doesn’t need noticing how sad, tired Stark looks. Doesn’t need to want to do something for the man, when he can barely do anything for himself.
rated T, CACW canon divergence, getting together, reconciliation, POV alternating, Bucky Barnes recovering. word count: 14,449
✨ Spilt on the Ground like Water by tisfan
Tony has been black-bagged and illegally held at the Raft. Steve has no intentions of going to rescue him.
But the Winter Soldier isn't going to leave him behind.
rated E, Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes, implied/referenced torture, frottage, dub-con, mention of part non-con (HYDRA trash party), not Steve friendly, suicidal thoughts, touch-starved. word count: 10,853
✨ Norns, Save Us (From Ourselves) by phlintandsteel
It’s been ten years since half the universe was dusted.
rated E, post-IW au, A/B/O verse, Omega Tony, Alpha Bucky, Soulmates, Peter & Harley playing matchmaker, still recovering Bucky Barnes, not Steve Rogers Friendly, angst with a happy ending. word count: 37,324.
✨ Change You Like A Remix by ficlicious
No one ever said Avenging would be easy, but Bucky could have really used a memo about the weeks where the hits just didn’t stop coming. He’d probably still have signed his soul away to the gods of spandex and paperwork, but a heads up woulda been nice before he nodded and smiled and took up residence in the house sanity fled when the Avengers moved in.
---- Soulmates, misunderstandings, snark, genderswap and sleep-deprived Avengers abound. Tony's a woman. Must be Friday.
rated E, AU - soulmates, established relationship, temporary gender swap, jealous Bucky Barnes, misunderstanding, miscommunication. word count: 10,494.
✨ Getting to Know You by orbingarrow
It had been an adventure, navigating the sweetly apologetic Bucky Barnes, who haunted the tower most days, and the the Winter Soldier, who occasionally inhabited Barnes’s body. The Winter Soldier was not apologetic; he was scary. And he was currently chilling out, uninvited, in Tony's lab.
“Leave,” Tony said, because Tony was either a dead man or not, and there wasn’t much he could do about it before coffee.
“Or you could give me permission to be here,” the Winter Soldier suggested.
“I don’t let strangers poke around my stuff,” Tony grumbled, as he walked past the Soldier to take a seat at his workbench.
“Easily solved,” the Soldier deflected. “Get to know me.”
-This is what happens when Tony does.
rated G, Bucky Barnes & Winter Soldier are different personalities, fluff, Clint Barton is a good bro. word count: 9,470
✨ Safe House by ali_aliska
For years, Tony had successfully kept his secret. Neither the world nor his team knew he was Iron Man and as far as he was concerned, everyone was better off that way. On his best days, Tony Stark was not someone people liked and trusted, so the last thing Tony wanted was to tarnish Iron Man’s good reputation by revealing the truth.
But then SHIELD falls, the Avengers face disarray, and a stray Hydra assassin forces Tony to go into hiding—and where better than the safe house he had just crafted for the Avengers and their own ex-assassin ready to come in from the cold?
Tony plans to hide away from everyone in his makeshift workshop until the coast is clear and he’s safe to go home. No one would care to spend any time with the reclusive, arrogant billionaire anyways, right? Iron Man is the one everyone wants around.
Bucky Barnes, on his own journey to reclaim his life and identity, seems to disagree with that sentiment.
rated T, post TWS, canon divergence, au - Secret Identity, mutual pining, team as family, slow burn, misunderstandings. word count: 89,533
✨ Versace on the floor by withered
The modern man’s armor is his clothing, and Bucky wants Tony out of his.

A short thread I found about Gojo's character that helps shine a light to how caring he is:
https://twitter.com/musikawu/status/1376984416485007363?s=19
Also, I actually just realized this recently after rewatching JJK that Gojo got super attached to Yuji really quickly. Gojo not only got very angry on his behalf but went out of his way to ask Nanami for help in caring for Yuji when he's supposed to be the strongest sorcerer. And at that time, Gojo made it clear to Nanami that he didn't ask him to do so due to Yuji's potential as a vessel. Gojo asked Nanami for this favor as an adult who wants to see the growth of a young man. Gojo was very precise in telling Nanami that he was looking not at Sukuna and Yuji's power, but at Yuji himself as not only an individual, but a child that needed nurturing and care. Before Yuji's death, Gojo had already even made preparations to have Yuta take care of Yuji cause he knew something might happen to him- even more development is that despite what Gojo says about himself, he's aware of his own flaws. What he appears to be on the outside is nothing like what he truly feels on the inside. He doesn't delude himself into narcissistic behavior that makes him unable to ask for help. He asks for help willingly and of his own accord- Yuta couldn't even fathom how the strongest sorcerer would face a problem he couldn't solve on his own, but Gojo does. Gojo is smart enough to know he needs to rely on others to move forward, and relying on someone means putting a certain amount of trust there. Gojo puts just as much faith in other people as he does himself, and the interesting part is that while it's more admirable to go out of your way to protect someone else, Gojo never brags about that. He only "brags" about things that will annoy the other person, but really he is only saying a commonly known "truth" in order to rile people up. It may sound like bragging- which it sort of is- but Gojo saying he's the strongest is not a lie. Him saying "I alone am the honoured one" is not necessarily a lie either. People don't call him the Strongest for nothing.
In fact, even more interestingly enough, besides Gojo, who includes Geto when people talk about the "strongest?" Despite being the definite "strongest," Gojo is the one who constantly says "We are the Strongest," not the other way around. He's also mature enough to recognize and point out other people's strengths, such as Mei Mei's, saying she is too strong to cry.
If Gojo truly was a narcissist, he would have mentioned everything else he's done for people, like stopping Megumi's sale to the Zenin clan and getting the Fushiguros financial aid. He could brag about being persuasive enough to save Yuji from execution or even saving Yuta from execution- Yuta becoming a special grade sorcerer soon after Gojo saved him is something you can easily brag about- but Gojo doesn't brag about his personal achievements at all- not in the way that demands respect from others, at least. Gojo only "brags" to tease others lightheartedly and to tick them off a little- and I don't think the demeaning things Gojo says to the higher ups can be used to show he's a narc because *many* people in Gojo's position would have said (and done) much, much worse things.
Also, when Yuji died, Gojo had become so emotional that even Shoko, who had been there since Gojo's youth, had commented on how unlike him it was. People irl really thought it was because Gojo couldn't use him as a weapon against the higher ups anymore, but reading how Gojo had told Nanami that he saw their relationship as an adult and a child makes me think differently. Something very important in the Light Novel is when Gojo tells Nanami that his students, because they are sorcerers, will soon have to "face the evil intentions of sh*tty humans." Not only sorcerers, but "every person has to bite into that bitterness, know what it means to give up, and pile up despairs to become an adult." People like Gojo and Nanami, Gojo had said, are capable of withstanding and releasing the "poison" that runs through the heart. However, the youngsters are more sensitive in that age, and "one poison could destroy their hearts" (I'm sure Gojo was thinking of Geto as he said this). That's why he wants to leave Yuji in the care of Nanami, "an adult who understands other people pain." Not that Gojo is unable to understand pain, but in the earlier events of the Light Novel as context, Gojo is faced with a mother who is mourning the loss of her child. While Nanami tries to gently comfort her and secretly find information on the cursed spirit at the same time using vague words, Gojo's words are straight forward and to the point, which startles the mother. It's not necessarily a bad things, however- Gojo's words had ended up allowing the mother to see her situation as it was without delusions, a tough love situation, so to speak, and the two were able to confirm their intel to be correct. It was Gojo who helped her to heal quicker by allowing her to realize her problem through his cutting words, but I'm sure Gojo realizes his "bad personality,"- which isn't really so bad in some cases- isn't for everyone. Gojo is very aware that people react negatively to his behavior, even if he is unable to understand just how deeply they despise him (*cough* Utahime) In that way, Gojo shows he cares very much for Yuji's mental growth, even in that short period of time, by entrusting his care to Nanami, who he comments would do a much better job than be could.
Therefore, I think Gojo might actually get attached to people more quickly than it might seem like. He also thinks very deeply and no matter how he acts, he's able to recognize others' strengths and acknowledge his own flaws- this is a key part of his character because he doesn't delude himself in his position as the Strongest. To those who think Gojo sees himself as a God, he is far from that behavior, and he is self aware enough to know that people need more to grow than just power and strength. Unfortunately, it seems most people either despise Gojo or are too enamoured by his looks to see past the surface of the more boisterous and childish part of his personality. That's likely the main reason he finds it hard to commit, too.
(More ranting 😭. There was this reddit post saying Gojo's narcissistic enough to be a more evil villain than Sukuna, that he would actually end up becoming the villain- like really??? And so many people really agreed that he's incapable of feeling true emotions that it's absurd. I really can't believe they even think Gojo has a God complex. Someone with a God complex, like most of the other disorders, wouldn't be able to admit their own flaws, let alone ask for help! The fact that Gojo even admits to having a "bad personality" is another tell against that. Sometimes I wonder if people are just projecting, but I also realize it's hard to differentiate between being an ENTP and being a sociopath because of how- on the surface- they seem so similar! But if you just dig a little deeper to look at their roots, they are so completely different it's a wonder how you'd get confused in the first place)
- 🤔
OH I COULDN'T AGREE MORE 🤔 anon here spitting FACTS. Yeah alot of people think gojo's a narcissist with huge ego but that ain't the case at all as explained above. I mean he was put on a pedestal since birth he gotta have some ego in that but that fact doesnt blind him. yeah sure he's the strongest but just one line "I'm the strongest" doesn't mean he's bragging it may sound like it but he's just stating facts he is indeed in fact the strongest in the jujutsu society. He knows he can't do everything on his own I mean why did he even become a teacher in the first place? Becuz he wants to make the next generation of jujutsu sorcerers stronger! No one asked him to do it he himself wanted to be a teacher even though at time he sucks at it.
He genuinely wants to do good not just for himself but for others as well. As interesting as the concept of Gojo becoming a villain it will never happen. Don't judge a damn book by it's cover even if it's a very attractive one hes just such an interesting character its shame most people don't see that.

There is one thing that you mention a lot and it is Bi-Han's lack of social skills and well I do not agree at all, that is, Bi-Han as with Sektor is quite introverted but I do believe that the Lin kuei taught them social skills to be able to infiltrate them among the people during missions. Bi-Han I think he has manners and social skills but he doesn't hide when he doesn't like someone. He was sarcastic with Quan chi but at no time did he insult him or refuse to do his job
I do not have any doubt that Bi-Han’s speech patterns depend on whom he is interacting (x) but as much as honesty and straightforwardness are in itself valuable traits, frankness is not always an acceptable choice to rely on. Having social skills helps to navigate how to behave and talk to different people to not overstep or break generally accepted norms and in result, to build a healthy relationship, or in case of living in a strict warrior society, to not get in trouble. Bi-Han for me lacks in this department, especially in mentioned interaction with Quan Chi, because he was not on equal ground with the sorcerer yet had this borderline challenging attitude. And most likely yes, some of the rudeness came from not liking nor respecting the suspicious guy that already proved to be some insidious bastard for hiring another man for the same job. But the thing is, he wasn’t there to question a lucrative customer that was personally approved by the Grandmaster and he should keep his accusations and rude remarks to himself, not throw it into the sorcerer's face just like that.
I mean, as much as dark and evil Lin Kuei are, customer service is a vital part of the earning money process. Bi-Han wasn’t there as equal to Grandmaster (the superior whom he swore to obey) nor Quan Chi (approved client). Between these three characters, Sub-Zero was just a tool to finish an already made transaction, no one was interested in what he thought or felt at that moment. As much as the accusation to some degree may be forgiven, since Quan Chi openly antagonized Sub-Zero by calling Lin Kuei the ninja (an intended insult) and admitted to hiring Shiray Ryu (the enemy of Lin Kuei), he shouldn’t be so aggressive nor so open. It toned down once Grandmaster stopped their argument. Even then, Bi-Han could - should - ask about the mission in a more polite or at least neutral way, instead of “If it's so precious, why don't you get it yourself?”, since his superior made it clear Sub-Zero is gonna do another job for the client (“Now you will use the map on your next mission. Quan Chi has once again retained your services”).
The whole situation feel to me like Grandmaster promised Quan Chi the best man for the job but said man had this “fuck you” attitude from the start. Sub-Zero represented Lin Kuei but instead of the professional and obedient subordinate of Grandmaster there was an abrasive warrior who called Quan Chi on his lies and backed down only because his boss had enough of his attitude and the pointless argument. Not the best social awareness if you ask me.
Bi-Han wasn’t any more polite to Raiden (“That's it? Not even a thank you?”) and either deliberately provoked Scorpion during the Tournament or he was simply brutally honest about not caring about Shirai Ryu’s fate. Which, considering what he knew about the massacre, Scorpion’s obsession about him and just heard Hanzo’s promise to not kill him, he was stubbornly arrogant or really lacked empathy or good understanding of emotional impact his words may have on his sworn enemy. Considering how Bi-Han is described as “the most cunning” above all, we know he is pretty intelligent. But his harsh, abrasive, often confrontational behaviour makes me think he is good with cold logic, not exactly with empathy and because of that, he is not always reading the situation well and may “forget his place” when dealing with people he does not respect or care about or outright provoke them in the worst way. The whole argument with Quan Chi in the first place shouldn’t even happen because really, it wouldn’t be the first time an outsider (client) didn't care about the assassin's life and saw him as just a tool. Grandmaster himself wasn’t bothered nor surprised by Quan Chi’s deal with Shirai Ryu and so Bi-Han’s outburst is even more out of place in my opinion.
How much of this is Bi-Han’s intention to be a rude bastard and how much came from limited social skills (and maybe from introverted nature?) is of course up to debate. But to be fair, all cryomancers have this cheeky and passive-aggressive attitude in common (Frost for example seems like being constantly angry at everyone and doesn’t hold her sharp tongue, younger Kuai Liang literally disturbed Mortal Kombat last Tournament and told Shao Kahn to give him murderer of brother, Conquest!Sub-Zero was no less stubborn and asocial). I do see cryomancers in general as the asocial, aromantic & asexual (maybe even autistic to some degree?) people whose natural coldness may have handicapped sense of social norms and the fact that they are trained killers (thus have empathy dulled even more) don’t help at all.
At the same time, I strongly believe that not every warrior was constantly or even often working undercover and Lin Kuei used its members adequately to their skills. Some are better at spying (thus are better at interacting with people to get the needed information), some are better killers (whose interaction with people doesn't matter as long as the job is finished). There is not enough source material to say for sure what was Bi-Han’s specialization but Mythologies: Sub-Zero strongly suggest is was actually assassination and theft, as we were told by Grandmaster (“Once again, our most cunning assassin and thief is successful.”). The known jobs he did involved breaking into heavily guarded places (Shaolin Temple, Temple of Elements) to steal artifacts and killing people on the way. There was no need for Bi-Han to have any social skills nor during the Mortal Kombat Tournament, when he was hired exactly to eliminate (kill) Earthrealm’s Champions. Of course, this is barely the tip of the iceberg, more or less the last year of Bi-Han’s life, but if he truly was one of the clan's best, sending him on long-term undercover missions could be a waste of an opportunity for profitable earnings. I mean, stealing and killing are usually short-termed jobs, the “go in and get out” as fast as possible to not leave any trace behind. Those jobs of course also take time for proper preparation but because of its specific nature, a warrior can be sent from one place to another almost immediately, especially if the lucrative customer (like Shang Tsung or Quan Chi) needs to solve an urgent problems quickly. The game and movies are separated sources, but Mortal Kombat (2021) seems too put Bi-Han mainly on the assassination jobs or staying at Shang Tsung’s side than anything truly involding good understanding of social ettiquete; beside the sorcerer, Bi-Han did not interact much with other people, even with his own allies. Then there is the possibility that Bi-Han could work ultimately more in lawless, wild Outworld than modern Earthrealm which also would affect his behaviour and sense of social norms.
I believe Bi-Han took some undercover missions, but I see him more like operating in the city to do some quick dirty jobs and moving to another target than staying in one place for months while playing “normal” human being. That way he was more useful to clan by earning good money in short period of time and maybe correcting faults of other warriors (supervising them) or killing Shirai Ruy / enemy’s agents along the way. He probably could fit into society for a specified period of time if that was absolutely necessary but I don’t think it happened often. And even then, he most likely kept to himself because Bi-Han is introverted by nature.
At the end of day, the coldness and social detachment was a useful trait for a killer and murdering was most likely Sub-Zero’s expertise so forcing him to spend months on anything else seems to me like wasting both his potential and good job offers. So the Grandmaster (Lin Kuei) could tolerate Sub-Zero’s natural frankness because his social skills weren’t ever the priority.
Bi-Han’s abrasive ways to communicate with others, lack of empathy, the visible isolating himself leads me to think he lacks social skills (and maybe even could fit somewhere on autistic spectrum). At this point of time, I think cryomancers in general are dense when it comes to social norms and interacting with people and I don’t mean it as they are stupid or unable to learn. They just have different (mental?) mindset about such things than other people, even other Lin Kuei warriors. Of course, it is just my take on the matter so anyone can disagree : )
(Ironically, I have the impression that Sektor would do better in long-term undercover work than Bi-Han but he is hardly better at pretending to be a normal human being. The difference is that he is the quiet type easy to overlook while anyone not familiar with Bi-Han's specific behaviour will see him as the rude bastard.)

Lesson 45 Summary
MC continues to study sorcery with Solomon’s help, and begins the process of acquiring their “Sorcerer’s License.”
***SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT***
Tumblr media
The day begins with MC helping the brothers learn their way around human world appliances and food. Asmo points out that it’s been a long time since he’s been in the human world, and that it’s progressed considerably since then. Beel agrees, stating that they make progress very quickly. Asmo wonders if it’s perhaps because they haven’t changed all that much themselves, so it only seems that way.
Lucifer reminds MC that they have a meeting with Solomon. MC is initially confused, but then Lucifer remembers that they had passed out because of Solomon’s food in Lesson 42, so they likely didn’t hear when Solomon was making those plans. He then explains that MC is meeting up with Solomon and he and Beel are coming along. The brothers, predictably, complain. But Belphie seems to have some idea as to why Lucifer and Beel were chosen, though he doesn’t explain further.
Tumblr media
After breakfast, MC, Lucifer, and Beel meet up with Solomon in front of the Sorcerers’ Society Headquarters. The society is tasked with providing assistance to sorcerers living in the human realm. The way Solomon speaks about them, indicates that he doesn’t exactly have a lot of respect for the organization. (Some of this is explained later)
Solomon explains that to become an official sorcerer, the Society issues you a license. Much like learning to drive, you are first granted a provisional license before you are able to apply for your full license.
Lucifer attempts to ask Solomon why he and Beel are needed in order for MC to apply for their license, and Solomon deflects, saying it will all make sense once they are inside. Lucifer is of course suspicious of Solomon’s intentions, but nevertheless, follows him inside the building.
Once inside the building, the group is noticed by other sorcerers immediately who recognize both Beel and Lucifer as powerful, well known demons. It seems that some did not believe that Solomon’s apprentice had actually “tamed” the seven rulers of the Devildom. With Beel and Lucifer accompanying them, this proves that they had, and makes Solomon be taken more seriously.
Solomon goes on to explain he’s actually on bad terms with the Society (why is this not surprising?). This apparently has a negative effect on MC’s ability to be issued a license. And it turns out that Solomon actually founded the society back in ye olden days, with the help of his talented apprentice, and eventually left the Society after a difference of opinion.
He then tasks Lucifer and Beel with protecting MC, to make sure they aren’t harassed during their visit.
Tumblr media
Without answering any further questions from the brothers, Solomon leads the way to the reception area where MC starts the registration process. The receptionist does not seem at all pleased to see Solomon, but he smiles and continues on like he doesn’t notice.
Solomon instructs MC to hold out their hand, and the receptionist presses their staff to the back of their hand, causing a seal to appear. The magical seal takes on the shape of 3 staves and 7 stars - the crest of the Sorcerers’ Society, Lucifer explains, having recognized the symbols.
The 3 staves are to represent the “Three Magi” who are responsible for “inventing the magical arts”. And the 7 stars represent the “seven virtues” - temperance, chastity, generosity, patience, diligence, gratitude, and humility.
(In other words, the opposites of the Sins the brothers represent - gluttony, lust, greed, wrath, sloth, envy, pride (in order))
Solomon then explains that in order to be granted a license, MC must complete seven trials, and will be awarded 1 star for each. According to tradition, Solomon will give MC their first trial as their master.
Tumblr media
Solomon then casts a spell on Lucifer, temporarily restraining him. Lucifer and Beel are understandably angry, and MC has the option of yelling at Solomon for what he is doing. Lucifer is quick to shift into his demon form, as is Beel, but he stops Beel from intervening - insisting that a simple spell like that was not enough to stop him.
Not wanting to anger Lucifer further, he then explains that this is all part of the test for MC. Wanting to do what he can to help MC, Lucifer stops resisting and let’s Solomon continue. Solomon then casts the next part of his spell, and shrinks Lucifer down so that he can fit in the palm of MC’s hand (omg this sounds so cute 😭 someone draw this please).
Lucifer is completely embarrassed, and MC is able to ask Solomon to turn them back, but he refuses, explaining that it’s part of MC’s test. They are to “protect Lucifer for one full day” (24 hrs).
Beel thinks that will be easy, saying they just have to hide out at home. But Lucifer then points out that his brothers are in fact the ones most likely to cause trouble for him, so home is probably the last place he’ll be safe. Solomon goes on to explain that MC cannot command the brothers and restrain them. They instead must rely on Beel’s powers to keep Lucifer safe. Beel is also forbidden from acting on his own to protect Lucifer.
Solomon states he’s going to be staying with them to oversee the test, apparently amused by the situation which only annoys Lucifer more (angy mini Luci is an adorable mental image 😂).
Tumblr media
The first place they head to is Simeon’s cafe. Both Simeon and Luke are shocked to see mini Lucifer, and find him absolutely adorable. Simeon teases Lucifer about how cute he is, poking his cheeks and making Lucifer blush. When Luke tries to poke his cheeks too, Lucifer still manages to intimidate him and scares Luke away. MC is then given the option of poking his cheeks or petting him, making Luke and Beel jealous that they can’t do the same.
Beel points out that even though Lucifer has only shrank, he actually smells like a human now. Luke is surprised to learn that Beel can tell the difference, and Beel explains that everyone smells different - even Luke, who he says smells like an angel. Simeon continues to tease Lucifer about his current condition and how it must be because he cares so much for MC. Lucifer ignores Simeon’s taunts, reminding the group they need a plan to keep him safe before they can go home.
Solomon explains that in order to harness Beel’s powers, they must first learn how to draw out his “true power”. He goes on to say that simply saying the same incantation that MC used in Season 1 to harness Asmo’s power won’t work - MC needs to understand Beel “true nature.” It’s decided that MC should spend as much time with Beel as possible (including sleeping with him, which makes mini Luci super jelly) in order to learn more about him and what makes Beel, Beel.
Lucifer states that he will be sleeping in the same room as Beel and MC, since he has to stay close so they can protect him. And Solomon chimes in that he’ll be sleeping with them too so that he can keep an eye on things. He gets excited about the idea of a “pajama party” with the group, and Luke and Simeon are obviously jealous that they can’t join them.
Tumblr media
At home, Lucifer and Beel go over the plan once again, reminding MC to stay on their guard and to protect Lucifer. Solomon thinks they are being over dramatic, but Lucifer assured him that he’s underestimating what his brothers are capable of and the lengths they’d go through to harass him. Solomon asks why his brothers hate him so much, and Beel explains they don’t really hate him and MC is able to agree with him, encouraging and comforting Lucifer.
They finally head inside, and the first thing they hear is a voice chanting a spell. Soon, they all are falling through the darkness. Everyone then realized that they aren’t actually falling, that it’s just an illusion. When the illusion clears they find themselves in an odd building. Lucifer identifies the voice that he heard earlier as Satan’s and wonders if he perhaps created a world to trap them in. But Beel recognizes the location as a building from one of Levi’s video games. (And Lucifer immediately calls Levi a bastard for trapping him in another game. 😂)
Tumblr media
Levi then makes a dramatic entrance, completely in character as the Lord of Shadow. Beel, Lucifer, and Solomon are not impressed with Levi’s performance, exasperated at being trapped in another video game.
Levi doesn’t let them discourage him for long though, quickly turning to MC to explain what it is they are doing there. MC must defeat the “Demon Lord Satan” in order to save the world (and thus win the game). Lucifer ignores Levi, demanding that Solomon returns them home immediately, but Solomon insists he is unable to do so since he doesn’t even know where they are right now (which I think is total bullshit, but I digress).
Beel then explains to Levi what the situation is - that MC has to protect Lucifer as part of their test, and that they can’t do anything that would put either of them in danger (and I’m assuming that Levi already knows this because he didn’t say a thing when he saw Lucifer). He then says that they absolutely cannot go find Satan, since that would be the worst possible thing to do with Lucifer.
But Levi is a step ahead, and already knew that they wouldn’t want to seek out Satan. He summons up a projection of sorts of Satan, allowing him to speak to the group. It appears that Diavolo snuck off to the human world for a surprise visit (without informing Barbatos, but come on, we all know the butler knew this was going to happen), and Satan has now taken him hostage as an incentive to get Lucifer to participate.
Staying in character, Levi gives MC some money (100 Grimm to be exact, which yes, shows up in your in game mailbox lol) so they can purchase some armor and supplies. (And please play along with Levi 🥺) Levi then gives MC a special “Lord of Shadow” talisman, wishing them luck on their journey. Lucifer, now thoroughly annoyed, reminds Levi that there will be consequences for doing this to them. And Levi, the super cute otaku that he is, explains he just wanted to play a new game with his brothers. 🥺
(NOTE - Based on an in game chat between Barbatos and Simeon, I believe it was Simeon that alerted Levi and his brothers of Lucifer’s...condition. Which is just another point in the “Simeon is an asshole” column.)
Tumblr media
The group then heads into the nearby town to start their journey. The first thing they decide to look for is armor and weapons. MC is given the option of breaking nearby barrels (just like in an RPG), which Solomon finds extremely amusing, so he joins MC in smashing things before Lucifer yells at them to stop screwing around and find a weapons shop. 😂
After finally locating the weapons shop, they realize that Little D Number 2 is actually in charge. Solomon remarks that the equipment doesn’t look that great, but Beel is quick to point out that it’s the first town in the game, so that’s usually how it works (and I find it super cute that Beel probably has experience with RPG games like this because he plays with Levi 🥺❤️). When Beel tries to ask Number 2 if he sells food, he soon grows frustrated when he learns that, just like a video game character, Number 2 can only respond using certain phrases.
Solomon eventually is able to buy gear for himself and MC (and thank god his sprite is now wearing his sorcerer outfit and not his hideous human world outfit 😂), and Beel says the only thing that would have fit Lucifer was a small outfit for a fairy, which Lucifer absolutely refuses to wear. Beel was really hoping for armor for himself, so MC is given the option of attempting to haggle with Number 2. Number 2 then offers them a quest - seek out the Greedy monster that is hanging out at the local casino (whom everyone immediately recognizes as Mammon), cheating people out of their money, and get back the money he stole from Number 2. Then Number 2 will gladly give them a great discount on a full armor set for the Lord of Flies.
Tumblr media
Everyone decides it’s best to head to an inn for now to get some food and rest, and that they’ll go look for Mammon the following morning. While eating dinner, Lucifer has trouble since he’s so tiny, and MC is able to offer to cut it up for him. He then takes it a step further and asks to be fed (guess you have to enjoy what you can when you’re forced to be pocket size? Lol), making Solomon and Beel jealous.
When they are done eating, they head up to their room and Solomon explains that they will need to share beds since Levi didn’t give them enough Grimm for a bigger room. Solomon and Lucifer will be in one bed, with Beel and MC in the other.
Sometime after laying down, Beel attempts to talk to Lucifer about Satan, but he doesn’t answer. MC then is able to talk to Beel and reassure him that Satan likes Lucifer, he just has trouble admitting it. Beel then tells MC the story of how he came to respect Lucifer -
As a young angel, Beel’s only gift was his strength, and he struggled to control his powers. Often making a mess of things, with Raphael giving him a hard time. One day, Lucifer comes to check on Beel and offers him some words of encouragement. He tells him that being a Celestial Realm soldier isn’t about attacking, but protecting. And that Beel’s powers mean he can protect everyone. He then goes on to say that once Beel learns to control his powers, he’ll recommend him as a cherubim and get him a position as a Celestial Realm Gatekeeper. This was a huge boost to Beel’s self esteem, and he’s been grateful to Lucifer ever since - swearing to do everything in his power to protect Lucifer.
Tumblr media
Beel then explains to MC that he knows his brothers all love Lucifer too. Because they wouldn’t have fallen with him otherwise. He acknowledges that Satan’s situation was different, but since MC became part of their lives, he was an entirely different demon. In fact, Beel believes the same could be said for the rest of his brothers too, and he likes who his brothers are now with MC around more as well.
He then says this is why he likes MC so much, and MC is given the opportunity to kiss him. After sharing a sweet kiss, Beel corrects himself, stating he doesn’t like MC, but actually loves them.

From the Human Heart - Chapter III
Chapter: 3/4
Wordcount: 2905
Title: The Lamb and the Knife
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen
Pairing: Ryomen Sukuna X reader
Previous chapters
1 . 2
Symbols: ⭕ . ➕ . 💛 . ▶️▶️
Warning (s): Mental breakdown, mental instability (one occurrence in the beginning of the chapter)
N. A.: I confess I was a bit afraid that this chapter ended up too sad or depressing during reader's return to the village, because what she sees there is something that could break anyone's spirit, and with her things are not different. However this story has a happy ending, so I guess I can make up for it 😅 Also, I was planning to finish the story in this chapter, but the text ended up being too long, so I had to add a fourth chapter. I usually avoid establishing a number of chapters in my wips because they always get longer than I plan, but this one should be a short story (guess I failed in this smh)
Tumblr media
A shiver ran all over your body and woke you up in an instant.
You didn’t open your eyes yet, but you knew you were lying on something cold, having your cloak to protect you from the chilling breeze of the morning. Morning? Something was telling you that it was morning already. Well, in that case… when did you fall asleep? What happened to you while you were not awake?
The rustling noise of the leaves was heard when you moved on your spot, your right arm aching after spending a long time in the same position. You opened your eyes at last and found a gray, autumnal day around you, the fainting light barely breaking through the dense top of the trees. All you could see was brown, red and yellow, as expected. Fortunately, winter hasn’t reached you yet.
That was strange, to be honest. Why would you think you’ve spent more than one night in that place, long enough to not see the change of seasons?
You sat on the forest’s ground and checked your own state. Everything was in its place: your dress, with the slit in the cleavage made by the King of Curses; the cut in your cloak’s stripe was still there, but the stripe was tied up again around your neck, a bit tighter; your empty bag was on the ground, serving as a pillow in that wild, improvised bed. Was it you that arranged things this way? Was it him? You didn’t know, and you didn’t think that finding out the truth would bring you any comfort.
In an urge to make sure you were alright, you opened your cleavage and checked your skin in the spot touched by Sukuna to seal the pact. There was no stain, no wound, no mark there; you weren’t feeling pain, burning or ache. Nothing changed in it. Of course not, you old yourself: what he did was an enchantment to change your soul, not your body. Any change that could come from it would not be visible to the eye.
With effort, you took your bag and stood up. You shook the leaves and tugs off your dress and cloak and took a second look at your surroundings. That was the same clearing in which you met Sukuna, and you were lying among the roots of the same tree you stopped at to read the sentences of the ritual.
The clearing didn’t seem so large and mysterious now that you were seeing it under the day light. It was silent, unlike the moment when you found it, full of sounds of night birds and small predators rushing their paws through the leaves, out of your sight. All that life was now gone, as if it has never existed.
A blow of cold wind twirled and passed by you before you could see where it came from, carrying leaves and dust with it. You took it was a sign to leave, as if it was saying to you that there was nothing there but death and oblivion. You protected your eyes and once the column of dust moved away, you ran out of that place.
You didn’t know how you managed to run through the same way that brought you to that cursed forest without ending up breathless, aching and out of your mind. Your feet were carried down through its declined territory, full of traps and roots, not stumbling in a single one of them, nor your clothing were ripped or got stuck while you ran.
To you, you’ve been running forever: the more you moved forward, the more the scenario around you looked the same. Was it part of the enchantment or were you just tired, eager to return to your village and see the results of the treaty?
You relied on this latter and continued to move.
***
The village, seen from the high spot of the hill, was the same since you left it. Not that you should expect something else – you were changed, nor your old home. Besides, you couldn’t have left for so long. But it felt like years in your heart, and the night before landed as a dream in your memory now. You adjusted the hood upon your head and tightened your grip around your cloak: the cold breeze ran free without the trees to obstruct it and you wanted to protect yourself; and, despite your trust in the results of the enchantment, you still had no ways to know exactly who were going to see you or not, so that you didn’t want to expose yourself before you had the chance to explore the territory.
Well, when you were reaching the lowest spot of the hill you were left with minimal choices regarding this.
A commotion was happening at the village’s entry, not so far from the place you where standing: a group of people stared with desperation to two or three men who you recognized as members of the Jujutsu council, the ones your father used to refer as his closest allies among them; these men were trying, with great effort, to contain a man who screamed incomprehensible words in a harsh, animalistic voice and scaring the villagers. The man was dressed in the same traditional clothing of the sorcerers, but all the noble aspect of it was gone, replaced with rips and blood as if its owner was kept locked inside a cage and tried everything in his reach to escape it, fighting with people and weapons.
Your blood ran cold in your veins when you recognized the insane man as your father.
After that, it was like your ears were uncovered and you started to understand what he and the other men were saying. They were arguing under a case of thievery: a treasure has vanished from the Jujutsu collection at your father’s house; the masters were convinced that the responsible for the crime was now far away from the village and must have been a clever Jujutsu sorcerer since they managed to deceive all of them, including your father; however, they were confused by the story your father was telling.
Between one growl and another, this was what you could understand from his speech.
- I know exactly who did this! My daughter did this! My own daughter! And I will hunt her till the end of the world!
His own daughter. You.
Your feet stepped back in an unconscious urge to run, but somehow you stood to listen to the rest. You immediately understood the agitation among the Jujutsu masters: the treasure that disappeared was the flower, without which they could not stand a chance against its true owner. Without the jewel, all the lies told by them and their leader were going to be brought to the surface and the whole village was going to pay for their dishonesty.
But none of this has hit you like the realization that your father was talking about you, that he still remembered about you and was willing to come after you to recover the jewel.
And that the situation was not the same to anyone among the people around him.
- Please, enough with this nonsense, master y/sn! – one of the sorcerers was saying, struggling to hold the furious man by his arm.
- Enough with this! – a second man shouted with less patience – You have no daughter! You’ve never had!
Yes, it wasn’t that surprising that the elders couldn’t see you – they never hid their distaste towards you, the greatest obstacle to their ascension in your Jujutsu society. But you didn’t take too long to notice that they weren’t the only ones who have forgotten about you: the entire village has, or at least all the people who were at your sight, some of them known to you for years. Some of them you yourself used to love and respect, and have trusted with your life in the worst moments of your relationship with your father – people you could swear to love you back.
Could it be that you, known by your connection with the most important sorcerer of the village, was an unpleasant presence to them as much as your father must have been? Could it be that they only tolerated you because of him?
A tear rolled down your left cheek, dried by the cold wind that passed at that moment, strong enough to take off the hood of your head. You still weren’t sure of what was more painful: to realize that your father was the only one who remembered you or to see that not even the people you liked were able to reciprocate you just enough to not forget you after an enchantment.
Something died inside you while you saw that. So you just put your hood back and turned your back on your old home, restarting your way up the hill again and hurrying up before your father noticed your presence.
***
It wouldn’t make a great difference if you decided to stay in that forest if the next night reached you there, for you had nowhere to come back as much as you had no place to go to. You were no longer on a hurry: running up that hill twice in so little time has taken the remaining energy in your body and your spirit, so you started walking; if you were passing by the same paths you’ve crossed before, you didn’t know and didn’t care.
To say you were walking was too much. Your legs were shaking, and your numb feet were stumbling even before reaching the obstacles; your hands were doing their best to hold on to the branches and any other support they were able to find, since you couldn’t count on your eyes to guide you: you hadn’t go blind, but you weren’t seeing anything in your way. Your attention was all in what you just witnessed, not in what you had in front of you.
It was as if you just died and had the opportunity to come back to see how the people you knew were dealing with your absence. If you were honest to yourself, you would have already accepted that what you saw wasn’t unexpected at all; still, it wasn’t something that you could completely understand until it happened to you.
At some dense spot of the grove you stopped, despite not having any hopes of finding some rest. You held tight on a low branch to not fall of exhaustion and concentrated on your breath. It was when you noticed you didn’t sense the expected harshness of wood while touching its surface.
You looked at your hand and screamed – your skin, exposed until your fist, was blue. Blue, but not just as a way to say it was cold: it was indeed blue, as a frozen lake reflecting the winter sky. You stepped back as if that was the hand of a stranger, but it followed you and obeyed all your commands, not letting any space for doubts; it belonged to you. You turned it to see its back and noticed variations in the blue, stains of a darker shade, and saw that your nails were now indigo, all of them in a sharp shape, just like…
Just like Sukuna’s nails. A curse’s nails.
You gasped at the memory of his warning. This was what supposed to happen in case you didn’t accept the result of the enchantment. You looked again at your palms and saw no cut nor wound that the branches could cause to a human’s delicate skin – yours were intact, as expected from a resistant curse’s body part. You rolled up your dress’ sleeves to see if your arms were blue as well and observed in horror as the slow transformation reached them.
You adjusted the sleeves and stopped looking. There was no use in desperation. You adjusted the cloak around you and crossed your arms around yourself, accepting the punishment.
- For someone who was so determined just one day before, you do not seem so happy now… child.
His voice grew from the depths of the forest and reached you as if it vibrated by its own will, shaking every nerve you had in you, waking you up to the darkness of your new reality.
You turned to find the King of Curses in the middle of the clearing, just like the first time you’ve met, but now the day was still there above you, with no sign of the red shadows of the summoning. That could only mean one thing: he hasn’t left after the treaty; instead, he remained in those lands, perhaps observing you while you were unconscious or waiting for the next events in the village to take place.
Having him witnessing your downfall in all its bitter details disgusted you in a way you didn’t think to be possible. Still, you found strength to give him a verbal response.
- Haven’t you had enough fun by now? – and after a gasp – Why are you still here?
Sukuna shrugged, not even a little upset by your hostile reception.
- I was just passing by and happened to meet you again – he raised an eyebrow –I am surprised to see that you are still here, to be honest. I thought you have left these lands yesterday. This is the reason why you wanted the enchantment, is not it?
Before you could formulate an answer, he approached and lowered his four eyes to your hands; you clenched your fists and tried to hide them behind your back as a last attempt to save your dignity, but your move was ignored by him, who passed his hands around you and brought yours to his sight, examining their skin with simulated preoccupation. You gave up on any attempt to pull them back: though there was no harshness in the way he was holding them, you knew he had enough strength to break them in such case, or cut them off with the same easiness he has cut the stripe of your cloak or the lock of your hair.
- So it is happening already? – he frowned while caressing them with his thumbs, speaking more to himself than to you – So soon…
- Soon?! – you spat the word – Are you telling me you deceived me?!
Sukuna’s gaze turned to you in surprise at this accusation.
- What do you mean, brat?
- I gave you back the jewel my father stole from you and didn't ask for anything near its price in return, and yet look at me now!
- You knew that I was going to… that this was going to happen to me anyway… is this what you’re telling me, right?
- Hm?
His carefree manners were making you more and more furious and desperate.
- What did I do for you to deceive me like this?!
- Who said I deceived you? – he sighed – I thought you were smarter than this, dear. I was honest with you in our whole treaty. The seal was established according to the rules and the enchantment worked as well. Otherwise you would not have noticed any difference or, in a worst hypothesis, you would have died in the process. Well, not even I would be here in such case. If I broke the rules, I would be punished. You must know that.
You fell silent. That was true: in the Jujutsu world, if two individuals established a pact, both of them were under the obligation to respect the rules of the said pact, otherwise they would be punished – with death in the case of a human and with exorcism in the case of a curse. Still, you were convinced that something was wrong with your own deal.
- It cannot be…
You felt your eyes burning, full with tears that you weren’t able to contain. The weight of what you have done has reached you at last, and from it you couldn’t escape. But were you capable of carrying it? You doubted that.
You felt his hand wiping the tears of your cheek.
- Shhh… No more whining, dear – he lifted your chin to make you meet his gaze – Now, tell me what is going on... What is it that is upsetting you so much regarding the enchantment?
You were impatient, of course, but didn't offer any resistance. You spoke all at once before your voice could crack in a new burst of desperation.
- I came back to the village and found out that the only person who was able to see me was my father. No one else remembers me. And this situation made him insane… – you sobbed – Tell me, how is this possible?!
He giggled and assumed the tone of a Jujutsu teacher.
- You want me to confirm what you are not willing to tell yourself even in thoughts? Alright. I think I can do this for you. You know the rules as well as I do. If someone does not love you, they will forget about your existence. If they do, they will remember you, whether they are the only one in this case or not – and then, he had nothing for you now besides the logical conclusion of the case – So, if your father is the only one who can see you now… He must be the only one who loves you.
