Encanto Headcannons because this movie has a chokehold on me

- Antonio has one-sided beef with Isabella. Since her flowers attract annoying bugs, she would grow Venus fly traps, pitcher plants, sundew, etc. I don’t think I need to explain why Antonio doesn’t like this. He uproots any that he finds

- Isabella is aroace imo, in the movie we see her grow hydrangeas before Markiplier Mariano comes for dinner. Columbia has a superstition that if you have hydrangeas in a house with single women, they will never marry. 👀 (of course this is just me projecting a bit, I’m aware that it was actually just cuz she didn’t want to marry Mariano, pls don’t take this too seriously)

- Dolores’s room is not sound proof like other people say. Since her superhuman hearing ability is used to protect the Encanto, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was the only one without a soundproof room. Poor girl 😔.

- Antonio, Dolores, and Bruno gossip with each other, they have so much dirt on EVERYONE

- If you shake Bruno’s head, his eyes respond like a magic 8-ball /hj

- Dolores is normally fine with all the noises she hears all day, but the second dinner time is over, she’s done, straight to her room, don’t talk to her.

- Abuela is NOT-I repeat-NOT homophobic, IDC if it doesn’t make sense for their time period, I will forever stand by my opinion that she truly couldn’t care less if anyone in the family was lgbt+

- Bruno tugs on his rauna when stressed and that’s part of the reason why it has some rips in the fabric

- Bruno is the flavor of autism where he doesn’t know when his eye contact is too much “❇️_❇️”

- Luisa, Dolores, and Pepa love romance novels, they have a book club together

- Mirabel and Alma like to paint with each other, I’d also like to think that Alma made the family tree in the kitchen

- Alma taught Mirabel how to sew when she was younger, so she had something to do when everyone else is busy

- Camilo mimicks people’s mannerisms without realizing, but it’s often mistaken for mocking

Encanto Headcanons!!

So I saw Encanto a few days ago and I literally have not stopped thinking about it so... HEADCANONS!

Some of these are specific to post-canon, some aren't.

One of the things being done to lighten Luisa's workload is Antonio just telling the donkeys to go back in the barn

Dolores didn't high-key snitch on Bruno living in the walls because she relates to knowing things other people don't want to know/don't want you to know

Camilo has a stash of tea somewhere for when Pepa gets stressed

Dolores' room has a bunch of things in it that muffle sound, but also a bunch of things that make interesting sounds

Pepa and Julieta's rooms have aspects of them which also cater to their respective husbands because of how important they are to them

Bruno's favorite game is chess, but he never follows the rules, he just starts making up ridiculous plotlines and derails everything like four moves in. Everyone learns to just go along with it.

Mirabel's glasses are magically reinforced (how else do you explain them not getting disastrously scratched up when she falls face first into a ton of sand?)

Isabela gets commissioned to dye clothing after she realizes she can

A good half of the village just calls Alma "abuela"

Luisa likes to do things like woodworking. The more delicate things don't always turn out the best, but she enjoys it anyway.

Dolores headcanon;

Because of her gift (and the fact she canonical can her something as a eye twitch) Dolores is really in tune with the human body she more the once probably heard someone having a panic attack or anxiety attack and hear the physical symptoms (fast heartbeat, slowly breathing ect)

So being curious she decided to look into why people have anxiety attack, which leads her to reading and study human anatomy and psychology (maybe sociology too)

She spend a lot of time with Julieta, being like “Tia this guy is having a panic attack he needs your food” or like “Tia the neighbor is having a bad depression episode can you check up on her?”

Dolores Madrigal

- Her favorite kind of date is a picnic far away from the heart of encanto. Far away from all the hustle, bustle and noise, and in the flower fields that grow all on their own. Next to a small pond of water with a naturally occurring waterfall, that trickles just enough to cover the noise or the city.

- Pepa showed her these fields not long after she received her powers, it's where Pepa would go when she was younger to try and relieve stress from controlling her powers constantly.

- Dolores goes there about once a week at this point, and since getting more serious with her partner(s), has trusted them to keep it hidden from others. The only reason it's been a place for her and her mother to hide is because everyone forgot about it.

- Dolores frequently urging for "just a little swim", being underwater muffles everything so much more. And she thinks her partner (s) look beautiful in the blue tinted light.

MORE Encanto Headcannons because they’re fun

- Bruno is super quiet when walking around, he’s the kinda guy to walk on his toes, he often jumpscares his sisters by accidentally sneaking up on them

- Casita has an umbrella in every room for whenever Pepa is unhappy, and emergency food kits for Julieta

- While he usually avoids touch, Bruno occasionally needs a tight hug from Luisa or Felix… and then Julieta’s food to heal his broken ribs❤️

- The rebuilt Casita kept the walls, but they are more of a quiet hangout spot rather than a dungeon of self-isolation

- Isabella decided to grow a corpse plant in her room, so now her room smells like shit, also there’s so much cacti, it would be impossible to go through her room without getting pricked.

- FINE 🙄 Dolores gets a sound-proof room, BUT ONLY AFTER the events of the movie, since Abuela is being more considerate of the others’ gifts

- Before she did tho, she would hang out in her parents’ room if things got too loud for her

- Isabella has a really ugly laugh, she snorts, and keels over, and it’s awfully contagious

- Dolores and Mirabel used to give makeovers to Camilo, they stopped when they got older, and Cami misses them 😔

- The rats taught Antonio swear words, and the entire family went into a frenzy when he dropped his first f-bomb

- Since Bruno sleeps in a hammock, it’s not too uncommon for him to have a vision while he sleeps, only to be abruptly woken up to a vision tablet shattering on the floor

- Luisa is not allowed to have stress balls anymore. No explanation needed.

- Mirabel does sewing commissions for the town, and Isa makes bouquet arrangements

- Bruno doesn’t dislike Mariano by any means, but he thinks he’s corny asf and his poetry is boring

- Aro/ace Bruno because I said so sorry!! :/ (fun fact, the flags in my pfp are made from his color palette)

guys im imagining stupid but funny stuff again

so when i first watched encanto and it got to the scene where bruno has a vision with mirabel, it hit me that he has the same voice actor as sid the sloth from the ice age series....... so of course im gonna accidentally imagine the madrigals in random scenes from the ice age movies instead of doing normal life stuff

(not the entire movies, just these scenes alone)

(its absolutely ridiculous but its honestly really funny to imagine the madrigals in these scenes). these are the main scenes i can imagine:

1. food glorious food from ice age 2 = antonio listening to king vultures sing while the other grandkids panic

i flipping love this musical number in ice age 2. literally all i can see is luisa, isabela, dolores, mirabel and camilo panicking when a flock of king vultures are surrounding them while antonio is off at the side dancing to the vultures singing as he is the only one that can understand what they are saying

2. meeting crash and eddie from ice age 2 = dealing with 5 year old mirabel and camilo

i honestly love the headcannon that mirabel and camilo are best friends that cause mischief. in this one i can imagine bruno trying to catch the 2 of them, pepa or felix jumping in the help, only for both of them to be outsmarted by the 2 kids

3. runaway eggs from ice age 3 = alma trying to get her kids under control/babysitting with bruno

its hard looking after 3 kids at once, especially when theyre running away from you down a hill. (i can imagine bruno babysitting dolores, isabela and luisa)

4. ice slide from ice age = either the triples, the tio’s, or the grandkids

i LOVE picturing this scene with the madrigals, i flipping love it. i can imagine 3 scenarios with this one as well. the first one being the triplets with baby luisa with julieta being manny, pepa being diego, and bruno of course being sid. the second one being the tio’s with baby camilo with felix as manny, and agustin being diego. and third is with the grandkids, with antonio flying down a slide, dolores tightly clinging onto isabela (diego), camilo and mirabel managing to catch antonio only for both of them to fall down a hole (sid), and luisa being the one to catch anotnio (manny). once again, stupid but funny

5. sid vs the dodo’s = jorge/hernando rescuing the candle

this has to be one of the best sid the sloth moments in the ice age series... so of course im gonna imagine bruno in this scene, well hernando or jorge anyway. i was picturing a bunch of people trying to steal the candle for themselves for some reason when bruno manages to get his hands on it first, hes surrounded but hernando/jorge come to the rescue and he ends up bulldozing through everyone to safety

i honestly had no idea who was better to imagine in this scene because you’ve got “i can do parkour and im scared of nothing” hernando but then you also have “i can charge through walls” jorge, i dunno, its funny either way

6. i believe i can fly from ice age 2 = camilo getting launched out of a tree

thats literally it, all i can see is camilo convincing luisa to pull back a tree branch so he can land in a pond, only for camilo to fly through the air and slam into a tree instead

i dunno what the hell is up with my imagination but these are the scenes i keep picturing the madrigals in these scenes and it honestly makes me laugh

Lusia~

Luisa Wears glasses while reading

She also loves to read Romantic novels, just like Dolores she loves brunos Novellas

Once mirabel walked into Luisa reading, when Luisa saw Mira she struggled to put her glasses away so she couldn't see.

Luisa always has to work hard but when she comes back her cousins welcome her and do girly things, like face masks

Luisa plays the piano and guitar, mostly in her room playing music and singing

Very much like her father, you can see the resemblance, the eyebrows and eyes, luisas is much smaller tho

Some may not see it but I do.

Isabella<3

Loves cactus, and exotic plants, mostly the one with powder.

Plays the violin, her and Dolores just sing and Dance into their spare time.

Speaking of Dolores, she is Isabellas fav cousin, don't tell Camilo, although he probably knows.

Absolutely inlove with Mariano, not for his looks. Since she hears everything she listens to Mariano as she trys to sleep, only hearing his voice making her fall inlove with him.

When her hair is out she looks like she has camilos hair but much longer.

She gossips to Isabella,Pepa, and Julietta alot when she has no duty's.

Quiet but when she sings she goes all out!once all the women came into her room without her noticing since she was singing loudly but beautifully.

Loves Nature, calming and gentle.

Plays piano and violin.

Knows everyone's secrets. Like how Camilo replaced Isabellas shampoo with something that dyes her hair pink.

Loves, Drama, romantic things, watches Brunos Novellas with Antonio and Luisa

Dolores Madrigal

Super hearing is never an easy power to have, and after the magic came back she wishes hers didn't. Or at least that she could control it more. She doesn't think it's impossible, but Abuela wanted her to always have ears on everything that may be going on. After all, what if there was an emergency?

So she never tried. She could focus on some noises, amplifying them above everything else, but never just stop listening to everything else. And yet somehow when you first came around your quiet voice, out of respect for her ears, drowned everything out instantly.
