Hello. Hope u r feeling good. I was wondering if u could write something again. This one is particularly personal to me. Picture it. Reader is daughter of any one of the bat boys. If cass Or az then single dad. She has been bullied since the day she started school as a child because she has a problem when it comes to studying. As she grows it's her looks. The ic, notices her behavior is starnge. Like, snapping at small things, crying when they correct her or raise their voice. She has never told anyone because she doesn't want them to stress out and the bullies said that she was so worthless because she keeps running to her father for everything. Her dad finds out soon. U can decide the ending.
Oh my love 💜 all three of our boys got you.

You had him wrapped around your finger the second you came into the world.
His beautiful baby girl, wide eyed and filled with curiosity and happiness.
You truly were a stunning little thing, but how couldn't you have been with parents like Rhysand and Feyre? He loved you even more for being the small version of your stunning mother. Her nose, her lips, her hair. The only piece of you that screamed you were his were those star flecked eyes.
Your childhood was filled with love and joy. With you constantly praised for your looks, for your smarts, or your imagination. Rhys and Feyre never thought anything of your wild mind. They loved it. They loved how sporadic you were, how one thing was never enough for you to stay focused on. They loved your random outlook on the world.
To Rhys, Feyre, and your significantly older brother Nyx, you were the world. They sheltered and loved you, thick and thin, protecting you from darkness and meaness at every turn.
It wasn't until you began lessons that you truly saw how unkind fae, especially those your own age could be.
You hated school and struggled to focus during lessons. You were busy, you told yourself in your little mind. Busy day dreaming of far away places, daring sword fights, a knight just like daddy or Uncle Az and Cass, mainly Uncle Az if you were honest with yourself, rescuing you from enemies.
Your grades reflected that. As did how your peers treated you.
"Silly y/n," one girl giggled when she thought you couldn't hear. "It's a good thing she's pretty, 'cause she's dumb."
"Her mommy couldn't read either. Maybe that's why."
In class the jabs were subtle enough that your teacher didn't notice, and when they did, nothing was done.
No one at home noticed either. No one noticed when you began to hide away more, when you stopped playing with your big brother after school. No one noticed when you weren't dreaming about being rescued anymore, but instead dreamed of running away.
Things did not get better when you were sent to Illyria, Uncle Cass and Aunt Nesta in tow, to begin training. You knew comments about your intelligence would be coming. You'd never expected comments about your looks, though.
"Imagine looking like your mom and trying to pass as an Illyrian."
"Her mom isn't even that pretty."
"Never said she was either."
You'd hide behind your wings constantly in public. You'd started eating alone. Stopped talking at home.
Cassian had tried asking what was wrong one night. His large hand running up and down your back as he spoke gently enough to you to shatter your aching heart a little more. "Just leave me alone!" You finally screamed at him. "I just want to be alone."
He wrote it off as homesickness, calling for Rhys and asking the High Lord to come visit you.
Rhys noticed it then.
He noticed the way you tucked behind your wings in shame. He noticed you eating alone. He noticed you never had a training partner.
He noticed your loveliness.
"Darling," a soft knock came at your door. "We need to talk." You curled further into your bed, your father refusing to enter or leave without your permission.
"Little love, please," his voice was pleading with you. "Let me in. Let me help you." You felt the gentle claws on your mind and blocked him out harder.
"Y/n, please. Don't shut me out." You'd never heard his voice break like this. The Crack that indicated he was about to cry. "I know what it's like to feel like you're the outsider here. I know what being this lonely feels like and how it eats away at you."
You heard something soft hit the door. "Babygirl, please. Let me come talk to you. Let me settle any feelings you're having. Let me help you. Please don't make me force myself in."
Shadows appeared in the corner, blue reflecting in them every so often. "I have her, Rhys. I'll come get you in a second." Your father yielded then. Yielded you to the arms of the Shadowsinger. "I've been watching for a little while." He admitted, "we've been worried for a few weeks."
He sat down on the bed next to you. "You stopped writing all of us. I know I violated your privacy and independence, but we all know how being out here can be. We all knew there was a risk of you being targeted the way we all were and the way Nyx was."
Azriel placed a hand on your back, rubbing small circles. "Your dad is the most worried. He did not want to send you here. He wants to bring you home."
You sniffled hard, finally lifting your body and shifting to sit next to him. "It's not any better there. I'm stupid in Velaris. I'm ugly here."
Azriel's jaw tightened. "Let me go get Rhys." Your uncle stood, walking to the doorway and leaving it open as he spoke softly down the hall.
Your dad was a mess when he entered. His hair was sticking different directions from how frequently he was running his hands through it. His face was tear stained. His shoulder slumped in defeat as he practically dragged his feet.
Azriel motioned for him to sit next to you, shutting the door so the three of you were alone and pulling a chair from across the room to sit in front of you. "Tell him what you just told me, little bat."
Your breath hitched as your hands began to shake. You could feel your eyes watering as you looked down to your unkept nails. "Taking me home won't make a difference."
Your dad pulled you close to him. "It would make all the difference, darling. We'd just send you back to regular-" Azriel shook his head at his brother, silencing him.
"Tell him the rest of what you said, y/n."
"I get made fun of in Velaris for being stupid, I get made fun of here for being ugly. It wouldn't make a difference."
Your father's world shattered then and there. Azriel stood, leaving the room to allow you to time alone now that the truth was out. Silence hung in the room. Interrupted every so often by your soft sniffles.
"How long," your father's voice broke again. "How long have you been getting picked on?"
You shrugged. "Since you started sending me to lessons."
He nodded, looking up. "I'm sorry I didn't notice, darling."
You didn't respond, only holding yourself tighter. He started. "I learned around your age, that holding my head high and not letting others see how much their cruelty hurt me tended to lead to it ending, but There is no merit in either of those statements"
He pulled you close to him, resting your head on his shoulder. "Are you easily distracted in school? Yes. Uncle Lucien always pushed us to teach you outdoors in a less formal environment with private help. You would have thrived in that setting. That is on me, y/n. I picked a public lesson setting so you could socialize." He paused. His jaw twitching. "You are not stupid in any sense, though, y/n." He motioned to the countless books stacked on your dresser. "Those are all educational texts or intense world building fantasies that you have taken the time to notate in a color system with separate journals filled with notes. That is not the action of someone who is stupid."
He tilted your face to him. "And you are not ugly. There is not a single court or location in this world where you do not meet or exceed their beauty standards. Anyone who says otherwise is either in denial of their attraction to you or blind. I never want to hear you say you are ugly ever again, darling."
A loud slam interrupted the heartfelt talk as your other brother entered the room followed by your cousins. "This is nice and all pops, really it is. Touching." Nyx walked to you, getting on his knees in front of you. "Their names, sis."
Rhys hid his smirk. "I never said your uncles and I weren't also going to do this, Nyx."
The heir rolled his eyes. "You can have their piece of shit fathers. I get the ones my age." Nyx grabbed your chin forcing you to look into his eyes. "Their names, y/n."
You gave them to him without hesitation. "Be nice," you said softly.
Nyx froze in the doorway. "You have mom's heart, y/n. I have dad's. You handle it with kindness and grace, I'm going to handle it with my fists and intimidation."
Your father pulled you close to him again. "Never change anything about you, little love." He stood moving in front of you and tilting your head up by your chin. "Just hold your head high, y/n. Hold your head high, walk away, and let dad and Nyx take care of the rest." He placed a kiss on your forehead. "Now, if you excuse me, I have a camp leader to beat the shit out of."
He paused at the doorway, turning to you. "I'll be right back. I promise. Maybe you could make us some hot chocolate and we can have a cuddle date like we used to?"
Your eyes lit up for the first time in years, making him smile and laugh. "There you are, darling. My beautiful girl."

Similarities and Differences between Lucien and Azriel
Alright...Elriel vs Elucien.  And I am aware that this is a topic: this fanbase has very strong opinions!  I have strong opinions myself ofc.  But I am going to suppress my own personal biases and look at these characters from a logical, unbiased perspective.  And I’m not really going to talk about evidence that proves one ship is canon or anything like that, I actually will barely talk about Elain at all.
I want to point out the similarities and differences between Az and Lucien because I think these will definitely come into play in the next ACOTAR book since it will most likely be Elain’s book and this ship war is probably going to be addressed (at least I hope)
Similarities:
Prominent Scars
Both have scars which is rare for High Fae, and the way they got these scars is very prevalent to their backstory.
2. Knowledgeable spies
They are both intelligent and sly and know a lot about Prythian because they’re both spies, Lucien was considered Tamlin’s spy / emissary.  They both seem to keep a lot of secrets even from the people they’re close to.
3. Childhood
Their history are similar.  Both were tortured by their fathers and brothers.  Their mothers might have been used against them in their youth to control them (Mommy issues for sure)
4. Found Family
They were taken in by their friends after a really traumatic experience—Rhys and Rhys’ mother took Az in, Tamlin took Lucien in.  And they developed a very strong loyalty to Rhys and Tamlin perspectively as their high lords but also their best friends.
5. Loyal but still speak out often against their HL
And both of them still say the issues they have with their High Lords.  Az is more confident with Rhys while Lucien is a lot more cautious with Tamlin especially after UTM and for good reason.
6. Defending their loved ones
And they both have their moments of rash defensiveness, like Az choking Eris at the High Lord’s meeting when he insults Mor, and Lucien telling Amarantha to “go back to the shithole she crawled out of” in the first book.
7. Insecurity
And it’s hard to understand them because we barely got POVs from either but they both seem really insecure with themselves.  Az seems to think of himself as a monster he avoids looking at his scarred hands.  And Lucien blames himself for a lot of stuff, one of the most important things imo, Jesminda’s death.  It seems like they avoid a lot of parts of themselves.
8. Elain
And one of tne of the most important in this shipwar situation that makes them similar imo—that I never see anyone talking about—are the conversations they have with Feyre and Rhys perspectively.  In the Autumn Court Feyre and Lucien have a fight about Elain and the Night Court, and Feyre says that he is only tagging along “just so he can get what he thinks he’s owed,” referring to Elain his mate.  This is very reminiscent of what Rhys asks Az in the bonus chapter, “you believe you deserve to be her mate?”
And both of them don’t directly answer and say they think they’re deserving in fact they both address their mistrust/dislike: Lucien answers, “my mate is in my enemy’s hands” and Az says “I think Lucien will never be good enough for her.”
They are both very conflicted when it comes to Elain. Az is attracted to her to the point of infatuation, and he’s stuck on this idea of having love because both of his brothers found love and a mate but he hasn’t.  But being with Elain is forbidden and he kind of realizes he doesn’t have a plan laid out.  He knows all of this is wrong and kind of seems to think he knows he’s being irrational.
And Lucien has the mating bond and all of the emotions and attractions that come with that but he is sick of getting hurt.
He’s still thinking about Jesminda it seems like and he thought she was his mate so he’s already comparing the two females.
And he also sees that Elain is not into it plus he feels like he’s being forced into it himself.
And I really think the differences between the two will come into play as well, and are probably more important when it comes to Elain and how both of these two males interact with Elain at this current moment in time.
Differences:
`1. Light / dark powers
The most obvious difference is their powers; Lucien has the power of the Day court and Autumn, so light and fire which is the exact opposite of Az’s cold shadow powers. A lot of people use that difference as evidence towards Elucien or Elriel being the next relationship.  But as I said before I just want to point out some other differences that aren’t about each of the two males’ potential with Elain but rather just a character analysis.
2. Honor, heroism, and helplessness
Az is very much a white knight. He is a savior, a rescuer.  He has a reputation for saving females, including Mor, Gwyn, and Elain.  He kind of has a hero complex in a way at least from how I view it, mainly bc the reason for a lot of these complexes is the desire for affirmation, validation and a sense of purpose, which I think has Az written all over it.
Also, a hero complex isn’t all about rescue and “damsels in distress”.  It is all of these other things:
good at saving people, very perceptive and sympathetic
A need for validation
dismissing their own needs and neglecting self-care
difficulty accepting help
feeling overwhelmed and drained
emotional and psychological burnout
low self-esteem
resentment
fear of abandonment and rejection
guilt over perceived mistakes
issues with overstepping boundaries
I'll make another post about it but I think it's an important.
You can try to analyze this from a psychological viewpoint, like Az was abused and suppressed when he was young, he was locked away and could not help his mother until he was empowered by his Illyrian heritage and shadowsinger abilities and got out of his father’s imprisonment.  A lot of these rescues are because of this job but Az seems like the person who is honorable and would help these females anyway, even if his high lord didn’t blatantly order him.
Lucien has a similar history: he also didn’t have power over his father or brothers, he was helpless when it came to helping his mother. But he reacts differently to this trauma.  He is a lot more helpless.
Lucien is a gentlemen and very good hearted, and again, he can be rash and he does defend his loved ones, (helping Feyre UTM, going to find Vassa and get help from the other fae territories) but most of the time he is very careful with the moves he makes.  And I don’t want to say he’s selfish because he has done plenty of very selfless things, but sometimes his trauma really drives his decision making.  You can see this with Tamlin in ACOMAF: he tried to help he tries to stand up to Tamlin a few times, but imo his trauma from Beron and seeing his mother being abused really influenced his actions and made him cautious.
3. Trauma from losing loved ones
There is a key quote from Lucien and Feyre’s conversation in the Autumn Court which really just defines how Lucien interacts with people especially Elain.   Lucien was saying he wants to see Elain “just once.  Just—to know.” And Feyre asks him “to know what” and he says “if she’s worth fighting for.” (Chapter 12 Page 114 ACOWAR)
I remember reading that for the first time as someone who fell in love with Lucien from the moment I met him and being like… “ooh 😐 damn.  That’s a little selfish lulu why aren’t you trying harder.”
And in the bonus chapter, Az says to Rhys that he doesn’t think that Lucian deserves Elain as a mate because he probably just sees Lucien as a coward, he sees how Lucien interacts cautiously around Elain and he’s probably sees him as a coward. He’s frustrated and he doesn’t understand why Lucien is so cautious with his mate because he doesn’t know his history and trauma.
Lucien is sick of losing people.  He has lost so many of his loved ones.  He has lost Jesminda, he technically lost his mother because most likely hasn’t been allowed to speak to her in centuries.  He’s lost Andras, and he just recently lost Tamlin.  He lost his eye which isn’t a person but it’s a loss still.
Jesminda seems to influence a lot of his decisions when it comes to Elain.  He does not talk about her a lot but in a way he does, you can tell he thinks about her constantly, even if it may have been hundreds of years.
Lucien was expecting a mating bond to snap with her.  He thought that his mate was murdered.
And he seems very selfish in this conversation with Feyre but it totally makes sense why he said he wants to see if Elain is worth it.  He is sick of losing people.  He’s just like… “I don’t want to do this anymore.”
4. A supportive network
Azriel has had his own losses but he has a lot of people around him.  He’s got all of the inner circle who have supported him and loved him for centuries.  His mother is also alive and there are hints that he goes and visits her.
I think Lucien has a supportive network now with the Band of Exiles, but he lost so many friends and loved ones and allies along the way. He is constantly moving around, loving his spot and finding another one, while Az got a very stable home.
5. Revenge and serving justice
And another thing is, revenge.  Az has a lot more of a need for revenge it seems like.  He wants justice to be served.
When he got out from his step-brother and father’s imprisonment, Rhys isays that what he did to them was so horrible that he struggled looking at him for a while after.  And Az really wants to kill Eris for what he did to Mor, and the only reasons why he holds back are because he believes Mor is more deserving of that revenge and because of his High Lord and High Lady since Eris is a very important ally to the night court right now.
Lucien doesn’t seem to think about justice being served.  Justice has never been served in his life and he thinks it never will.
He doesn’t seem to have a need for revenge.  He was rude to Feyre in ACOTAR in the beginning which was totally reasonable btw. She murdered and skinned his best friend of course his reaction is bitter hate.  Plus he was losing a lot of hope with the curse.  But he kind of got over it pretty well and Feyre became friends.
And in ACOWAR he encounters his brothers—who tortured him in his youth and held him down and forced him to watch his lover butchered, and also rooted for his torture UTM.  And we don’t really see any need to get his revenge for any of that.  Power came into play in the ACOWAR winter court situation bc him and Feyre were overpowered so they ran instead and that makes sense.
6. Running
Lucien has a habit of avoiding problems.  He and Feyre ran in Winter (I know their powers were low but still), he ran from Autumn to Spring after Jesminda, he ran from Elain in a way to go help find Vassa.  In ACOFAS when he and Feyre fight on the winter solstice, he left instead of staying.  He just doesn’t want to invest because again, he’s sick of getting hurt.
And maybe not all the time but sometimes Az seems like he runs ahead with his eyes closed.  He bottles up his feelings but he explodes sometimes when he gets too invested, like with Mor and Eris and with Elain in the bonus chapter.
Comparing these two characters is pretty important in the future books, since we will get POVs from both, discover more of their story, and see how this whole shipwar thing ends up.

Rio! I have a random question about nesta as a girl who grew up overly pushed and forced into "feminine perfection" by her mom, how did she experience the realization that she couldnt fulfill those toxic expectations that her mom forced on her because of her own trauma and the what the cauldron did to her? Not me asking bc of my own mommy issues lmao sorry if you already talked abt this here! Also idk if i made any sense wiith this question in my head i did
euge my darling i could kiss you on the mouth. i've been sitting on this ask for like 2 weeks now because it's just so juicy and i've been wanting to do it (and nesta) justice in how i answer it with regards to my portrayal.
honestly? i don't think nesta HAS come to this realization. and i say this because i don’t think she is in a space mentally or emotionally to understand that those expectations ARE toxic. certainly not in a canon world LMAO but not really in my interpretation either. i think that the rotten roots that her mother dug into her at such a young age are so deep that it will likely take decades for nesta to really even understand just how badly she's been harmed. and the canon treatment she receives at the hands of the IC absolutely does not go far in mending the mindset she's been brainwashed into either.
i mean. people can talk about how prythian doesn't uphold the patriarchal ideals that the human world does because it's an entirely different culture and species but the fact of the matter is that that's just complete bogus. men rule prythian. and you can argue that amarantha was in charge and blah blah blah the human queens blah blah blah but the fact of the matter is, tamlin wasn't putting feyre down when he told her there weren't high ladies among the fae. he was simply stating a fact. viviane of winter court (arguably an incredible leader considering the winter court did not sway under amarantha's rule while kallias was under the mountain) was clearly slighted when rhysand made feyre the first high lady.
and don't even get me started on the treatment of illyrian women. the abuse that those young girls and women are subjected to by illyrian men (rhysand's people!) is very close to the treatment that nesta expects as someone who grew up knowing that her only fate, the only role she would fit into, was that of a submissive wife to ensure her family's care. that those women are being violated so horribly because it's "tradition" just further proves to her that safety is not an option. that freedom is not an option.
all that to say, nesta can't break out of those expectations because she doesn't have the tools or the knowledge to be able to do it. not even when she goes to live in the supposedly amazing world of the fae that her baby sister so dearly loves. she is forced into “fae ideals” which are not far off from what she’s already familiar with. she is “promised” (mated) to a man for the “good of her family” (the IC/rhys/feyre) whether she wants to be or not and “society” (the IC) expects her to stay quiet and accept it and do it beautifully and to stop being in pain so loudly. because that’s feminine perfection of course!
i think that. even if she DID realize this. she would be in deep denial. lune and i are giving nessian the story that they deserve, but trauma is trauma. and like i said it’s going to take a long time for nesta to uncover how badly she’s been hurt for so long. but even just uncovering it won’t “fix” or help her. there are so many layers to the way her mother’s expectations cut away at her (and continue and will continue to do so!).
i believe nesta knows her mother was cruel, but she wouldn’t believe she’s been harmed without reason. which is why, even realizing that the expectations foisted on her were terrible and she couldn’t meet them if she really tried, she would simply be devastated that she could fail so badly. because that’s all she does in her own eyes, you know? she failed her mother, she failed her sisters, she failed her father, she fails cassian, she fails herself. she wouldn't think, "gee i shouldn't have been treated like shit like that", she'd think, "wow i can't believe i became high fae and i still can't manage to take care of my fucking family". i think it would be a setback in her healing and she’d have to climb those stairs too.

another nyx hc: he gets angry when someone other than rhys or himself hugs feyre because is so jealous of him. then cassian keeps hugging feyre and nyx is like "let go my mommy 😡😡"
haha! dude. i love this. he learns it from rhys obvs. I could totally see it happening and nyx just headbutts whoever tries to hug his mom that's not rhys. sometimes even his aunts. i can definitely see nyx as a momma's boy. just absolutely adores her. late nights and he can't sleep? mom. early morning and he's full of energy? gotta go see what mom's doing? has a bit of a temper tantrum and anger issue? gotta paint it out like mom taught me to.
and with his father's side coming out too combined with feyre's tenacity and strength--he works hard and is skilled in combat and his abilities. i think it'd be interesting to see how nyx's powers come out. like...at first they don't think that he's gonna have everything that his parent's do, maybe here and there. so they tend to only focus on what nyx is showing here and now. and then latent abilities pop up.
especially when/if his mom is in trouble. then poof. there;s nyx winnow master and shadows at his back a spitting image of his father. boom. he's got intense sword training and some of the best flight dynamics anyone's seen in a while. but when mom says to put the magic away he's gotta listen because hey--you don't tell the defender of the rainbow no. he's smart enough to know that.
anyways. yes. nyx is a protective child. and i'd like to think that with his dramatic entrance into the world, it gives him a bit of a stronger link to his parents--ie a greater bond kinda like the daemati (i think??) but his ability to sense them, pop into their minds/convos, and know different things...idk, i like that extra connection to this kinda miracle baby that they have. because i only see feysand as having nyx and maybe one other baby.
but yeah. there's my rant. i was gonna do a fic for this an nothing came, so you get my rambles instead.

ACOTAR rewriting exercise
Awhile ago I did a kind of rewrite ideas for Celaena and I decided I’d do one for Feyre but decided to include Rhys in this as well since the two are tied up together anyway. I’m putting this into the anti tags just to play it safe since I’m not exactly that positive about the ACOTAR series (mind you I’m a negative person anyway, even for things I love). This is mostly a writing exercise to come up with something I would’ve preferred to read about.
Feyre
1. This idea is that Feyre is an orphan instead, I believe it would’ve made the theme about finding love more stronger. Maybe the Archerons adopted her instead, would’ve given a better reason why Feyre is uneducated and why the family isn’t very fond of her. Also would’ve given Feyre more of an underdog type of story.
2. Another one is that there's a High Queen power that Amarantha has and when she’s defeated Feyre finds out that she has inherited the High Queen power. It would be a cliche but we’re already dealing with cliches in this series anyway. It would lead to the next book where there’s a lot of pressure happening to Feyre and Tamlin’s relationship which causes them to break-up (I don’t mind the idea of them breaking up, I like the drama I just wish it was written better). Maybe Feyre is descendant from Fae, maybe there’s a prophecy. Also the power is what brings her back to life, not the High Lords.
Rhys
1. In the 2nd book he should’ve had a harder time in the Night Court and now has to work to gain their favor again because he was gone for 50 years. I would’ve had an easier time rooting for him if he had a lot more struggles because when he was out from UTM everything got handed to him too easily and I hate it. Like instead of there only being the Inner Circle there are other political players that had taken over during his absence and he’s weaker and has to contend with them (and would be the reason why he’s trying to use Feyre as a pawn but ends up for real being in love with her). The war would be cut out from this.
2. Something that would never happen but I love the idea and would’ve read it, Rhys actually is evil and had been manipulating Feyre the whole time and brainwashed her into thinking he loved her, and the story messes with your head on what’s real or not. It would’ve made this dark fantasy but I love stories that messes with you (I love horror stories).
Themes +more
1. I’m not changing the themes of the series under this but I wanted things to be more clarified better. One of the obvious themes is finding love, I think Feyre should’ve had Daddy issues instead of Mommy issues, would’ve been the reason why she thinks she’s not worthy of love (because with the Mommy issues Feyre’s journey should’ve been about female friendship as it would’ve made the connection stronger, at least that’s what I think). Could’ve also worked with Feyre being an orphan too.
2. Masks. The 2nd book brings it up a lot but in the 1st book it’s literal masks and not really used as a theme. I think “putting on a mask” should’ve been tied to just the Fae, where they hide they’re true selves and Feyre has to get through them to find the truth (she only looks for the truth once with the Suriel but it should’ve been something she discovers on her own). They’re should’ve been more characters in Spring besides Tamlin, Lucien, and Alis (why were there so few named characters?)
3. This one's more about the relationship between Feyre and Rhys, there wasn’t much of a connection they had besides trauma (they had very different trauma so it’s not really the same). Feyre should be more observant, her time as a hunter could’ve given her the skill to see weaknesses in people and maybe given her the upper hand in politics that it impresses Rhys, who’s also politically savvy, and they bond over this.
I might come up with some more later but we’ll see.

Your response was so thought provoking.
It’s funny how Rhysand describes his mother as sweet and kind then mentions things that she did that directly contradict that (LOL). Giving her ring to the Weaver and going to the camps knowing that some of them might attempt to clip her and her daughters wings show the strength of her character and the love she had for Rhysand as a mother.
I think she had a lot of freedom and agency, which essentially led to her death, because no one was guarding/protecting her, so Rhysand overcompensates to atone for her death by being very protective of Feyre. It was cute at first but it veered into strange territory when he gave Feyre the handmade dresses of his dead mother. When I read that scene I was genuinely so confused - how did his mother know if the dresses would fit Feyre as she never met her - and it slightly creeped me out - his mother is literally dead. I always knew he had Daddy Issues, but Mommy are definitely also in there. The dresses are good keepsakes, but it strikes me as odd that he would give away the House of Wind if it was specially built for his mother. I had no idea that the House of Wind was built specifically for Rhysand’s mother, do you know the book this was written in? His love for her is clearly apparent as he built her the House and let her make her own choices, so I wonder why this mentality kind of skipped over Rhysand’s character?
His behaviour in ACOSF was not out of character per say, but it showed that he controls Feyre in a way that is slightly concerning. I genuinely wonder how he is going to handle Feyre once she goes to the Illyrian camps. You said you cannot see him letting her walk around and I genuinely agree. She cannot walk in Velaris without the company of Inner Circle members, so there is no way she will be freely moving about Windhaven. I wonder how the fandom at large is going to respond to that, simply because it is very clear that controlling Feyre’s agency (even if she is in the Illyrian camps) goes against everything that the book series represents - feminism and a women’s choice.
Thank you! Yeah- I think it's sort of fundamental, the way all the tragedy and death get both flattened and utilized as justification. We don't even know Rhysand's mother's name- she's a saint and a gesture and device, not a person.
As for the House of Wind, I remember it as a throwaway line in acomaf, but I could easily be misremembering! If so, it still feels important that in Rhysand's memories of his family, their primary home is the House. The center of their domestic life is not the grandeur of any number of other palaces or situations- it's a home whose fundamental comfort is his mother's safety/autonomy. Acosf equates the House to a prison, for faeries who can't fly. It's his mother's domain.
It must be said, Feysand has never been the ship for me.
It had it's moments- a hot bad powerful man on his knees, calling the heroine his salvation? Yes.
Basically everything else? I'm not telling anyone what or who to ship- books don't have to be good or pure or portray good people or model flawless behavior.
The problem is, for me personally, that the books are marketed and lauded for being not just good romances- which, I'm sorry, extremely arguable considering the quality of the smut in acosf- but as hugely, definingly feminist.
I think you're completely right to say that Rhysand's actions in acosf aren't out of character. And that's the whole thing for me- Rhysand is a villain.
The core relationship is based on violating Feyre's agency, and no matter how many titles he gives her or how much he loves her, that never changes.
I'm not even going to argue about the whole SA under the mountain thing people really disagree on (I think my opinion can be uh, very easily inferred) but let's take it all the way back. Very beginning: Feyre is slowly dying in her filthy, freezing, conveniently completely private for Plotting cell.
Again, they're ALONE.
She has this horrifically broken arm, which in moments, Rhysand will magically heal to the point of perfection despite the fact that the bone is visible.
He grabs her arm and twists it, to make her agree.
She has no power in this situation, is almost certainly dying of an infection, and he's throwing around his superior might and sheer shittyness what? to frighten her? for fun?
And yes- the eternal he had to play the part.
In private...where it's safe enough to start this plot that will both get them killed. I have thoughts about Rhysand's insistence on acting that I'll get to, but the primary take way is: he hurts her.
And then he convinces her to agree to a bargain that guarantees him a week of her life, every month, until her death.
HE IS HELPING HER IN SECRET, THE BARGAIN IS NOT A ROLE HE IS PLAYING.
So babes, what the actual fuck.
She is, at this point, a human girl who is 1) at his mercy and 2) that he's attracted to and has decided to kidnap.
COOL COOL COOL
Control is a defining aspect from the start. And we're told it's to piss off Tamlin. Or to defeat Amarantha. Or to protect Feyre. Of course, we later learn they're Mates and Rhysand Would Never Ever kidnap her unless she needed/asked for it....but this? in this moment. He doesn't know that.
(I believe this was further retconned as the books went on- first he Knows on the balcony. But THEN we're told about him dreaming about her? And also, possibly, that he recognized her at Calanmai. The books can't seem to decide.)
The thing with all of Rhysand's acting is that...it's not acting. At a certain point, being shitty to people for hundreds of years isn't a smokescreen it's just...being shitty for hundreds of years. The Amarantha situation takes brief precedent to make his actions False for Reasons, but everything else his court publicly does? not so much.
Is part of all this that he never got over the violent deaths of his family? Yes, probably.
But much like how Rhysand's mother is distilled down in memory to these extremely femme, acceptable, not at all subversive when she was probably a badass, traits, so too, does Rhysand flatten Feyre.
I can't even talk about the pregnancy plot without completely boiling over with rage.
I hate it.
HATE.
But from the perspective of talking about Rhysands let's say, vast maternal guilt, there's even more wild, alarming shit to seen.
Because the way he blames himself for his mother and sister's death is directly textual. He admits it, talks about it, it's clear in both some of his softer and some his just. bonkers terrible actions this is the drive.
He'll do anything, not to lose Feyre like he lost them.
Except, you know, believe for even a second that the POSSIBILITY OF A SON ISN'T WORTH MORE THAN HER IMMORTAL LIFE.
Sidenote: this is so silly in all the other stuff, but I've always thought it was crazy they accidentally conceived and immediately decided it was forgone because an maybe evil? possibly apparently psychic? ancient god/monster showed them a specific kid. they're immortal. even with faery fertility issues there's a whole infinity. what the hell.
But anyway.
So, I think there's a difference, between being willing to sacrifice yourself for someone you love and making a death pact to die with them the second they die. Especially if you plan/ believe a primordial being/ entertain the idea of parenthood. Not to mention just...the fact that they're rulers of a country (well, a ruler and a ceremonial ruler, but still) and have no seeming plan???
Rhysand deciding to die is neither surprising or compelling to me, sorry yall. I think the latent urge is kind of...there? I don't know. Him coming back at the end of acowar always felt wrong and his behavior after feels..off.
The issue is that Rhysand's whole defining justification for EVERYTHING he does is that he's protecting Feyre. He's always been 'protecting' Feyre, from making her dance mostly nude down to this moment, where he finds out that their child will certainly kill her, and lying about it.
And he just lets the situation spiral, on and on (and, you know, threatens to MURDER the person who tells Feyre the truth about what is happening TO HER OWN BODY).
A parent (Rhysand) choosing, full knowing, to die for their child? That's something.
Feyre not knowing right up until the end she's going to die, and her death won't even matter because the baby is also going to die- And Rhysand having chosen that, for them both, is a violation beyond belief.
There's no secondary option until Nesta literally creates one out of impossibility, which no one knew she could do.
But all the while, there's Rhysand, talking about their future son with Feyre. Their child, who'll have his eyes. Feyre's never a full partner, arguably, much less a full person, but the damning second she goes from idealized Perfect Mate Second Chance to incubating an heir, that's what matters.
Rhysand has run out of guilt, into something worse.

if you had to rate the illyrians in the series (bat boys + emerie), how would you rate them and why?
5. Rhysand- abused his pregnant wife in the name of his personal trauma, unclear how exactly he apologized for it (but I suspect it was with his penis which Feyre will learn is not an actual apology). Feminist king actually very okay with women being given no choice under his reign as long as he doesn't personally know them. Brutalized a whole continent for 50 years, never really explains his reasoning before he starts stealing priceless artifacts from them. Cannot forgive him for being mean to Tarquin, but might be willing if I ever got that Helion threesome
4. Azriel- MAJOR mommy AND daddy issues. Pining after his "best friend" for 500 years, won't take a hint? Dude c'mon. Threatens to kill people instead of solving his problems. Rage described as ice you can see. Points for being really hot, broody tall handsome thing working for me a little. Also the scene where he teaches Feyre to fly is comedy gold. The debate on how he carried Lucien in ACOWAR lives rent free in my head
3. Cassian- sorry but he just does it for me. Lord of Bloodshed would literally have been enough for me to start taking off my clothes. Knows what he is- a soldier, doesn't want more than that. Seems to care about the Illyrians beyond using them as meat shields in the endless wars. Helped the priestesses by teaching them mindfulness and yoga. Handsome, dark hair he never cut.
2. Balthazar- 5 pages and has the fandom speculating. Who is he? Illyrias next president I hope. Leading a successionist army in my nessian fic, I'm treating it like canon. Helped Nesta + co when he didn't have to. Big dick energy.
1. Emerie- true friend. Feminist icon Rhys could only dream of being. Middle finger in the air, has never once thought a man said something funny or interesting. Small business owner AND carynthian warrior, looks hot without even trying. She could step on me, I'd thank her.

I can’t imagine Kyara mourning her fathers death like the others sisters will. It will hurt but I think her feelings for him were different from Feyre and Elaine. Honestly I don’t blame her. Nesta we see felt regret but still cared for him deep down. But I’m not so sure about Kyara. I feel she gave up hope in him the same way he gave up on her. When I read the scene of Vassa praising Papa Archeron to Nesta and Feyre I couldn’t help but the think the audacity this mf has, as if he “redeemed” himself. Too little too late in my opinion. I was always surprised that feyre and nesta (the two characters known for speaking their mind) didn’t correct Vassa that in reality their dad was crappy.
Hi:)
She's not going to. While the death of a relative is always somehow painful, she won't be like: Oh my god no, my dad died. Let's go and be absolutely depressed about the death of a person who didn't give two flying fucks about me!"
That just.. won't work. The thing with the ship was petty, ik, but it ties with her daddy issues (because she never really got to know mommy..)
Boy didn't redeem shit. It's nice that he helped, I'm not gonna say it isn't, but that doesn't really make up for years of ignoring/abusing your children, and neither does painting their names on your ships.
To bring this to an end, a little quote:
For the lack of a better word, I may call him this, but the man who sat by the fireplace, carving his little wooden figures, who couldn't care less about his children for the life of him was never a father to me. Not even before we lost our money. Do you know the saying "All good things come in threes"? Well, I was the fourth daughter, so I couldn't be very good now, could I?
-Kyara, probably in the next chapter (I’m still not satisfied with it🥲)

feyre doesn't have JUST mommy issues OR daddy issues, she just has issues in general. all the issues. all of them.

Can certain Nesta stans stop blaming the inner circle for her mental health issues and just her issues in general?
It is not their fault she became fae, literally no body could have predicted that would happen or that the queens would betray them.
The inner circle did not cause the war, and sorry that in the original trilogy they were more concerned with winning a war and preventing the mass murder and enslavement of humans than they were with calculating every possible risk of having their meetings at the Archeron house.
They are not the reason the king of hybern killed Nesta’s father. They are not the reason she has mommy issues. They are not the reason she has trauma from living in poverty.
Did you really expect them to not ask Nesta to play a role in a war that effects the whole world? They didn’t even force her, and Feyre initially didn’t even want to ask.
The inner circle is not the cause for Nesta’s mental health issues. End of story.

So like can you list your top 10 reasons why elriel is endgame?
I can list my top ten reasons why they won't be endgame, Kara!
Elain already has a real mate whom she hasn't rejected
Gwyn wants Az and she gets what she wants
Every time that Az acts like he cares about Elain, what he actually cares about are his mommy issues, his responsibilities to the Night Court, or his chronic need to rescue women (Mor, Feyre, Gwyn, Elain, who know who else!). It's called understanding his character outside of shipping goggles.
At one point Sarah said she sees Elain and Az as siblings
Sarah has never talked about Elain and Az in a romantic sense but she has talked about elucien that way
Sarah loves mates and HEAs
Both his shadows and Rhys have said "ummmm, you sure about that??"
The things Elain and Az know about each other include.... flowers. Azriel's wings mean he can fly. The end. They never have any meaningful interaction or conversation.
Elain keeps returning Azriel's gifts. Ouch, Az, buddy, that must sting.
Azriel's recognition of Elain's powers was not a recognition of what was wrong with her. It was him saying "hey IC, buds, this girl has seer powers and that will be super useful for us!"
They aren't mates. :(
Elain and Azriel's stories diverge - Elain is connected to Vassa and Lucien, while Azriel is connected to the Illyrians and NC.
Azriel puts Elain on a pedestal but doesn't really see her as a person with agency.
When Az and Elain are about to kiss, he doesn't think about her as a person, but body parts. (By contrast, in Wings and Embers Cassian repeats Nesta's name in his head over and over and thinks about her characteristics. "She felt it all—too keenly, too sharply. Hated and cared and loved and dreaded, more than other people, she sometimes thought. Could sift between them all in a matter of moments, like she was trying on different sets of clothes, and no one could tell or care. Except him. He could see it, feel it. That first afternoon, he’d looked at her—not at the face and the body that human men marked, but her—and he had seen it all." Cassian realizes what happened with Tomas, they actually said more than short sentences, he thinks about her scent and not her coochie scent, etc.)
Azriel has nothing good or substantial to say about Elain when confronted by Rhys. The only thing he says about her is that she's sister to Nesta and Feyre. Smort. Romance.
His POV ends with his mood improved and smiling while thinking of Gwyn.
Az + Gwyn + singing
Az and Elain haven't interacted since Solstice, so in the book timeline that's about 3-4 months of nothing. His POV killed it.
Meanwhile Elain and Lucien are still mates.

I teased this in a previous post and people asked me to expand so...here’s my controversial take that Rhysand and Nesta are actually parallel characters in many ways and that they both hate each other so much because they ultimately hate themselves.
Alright ladies and gentleman, anti’s and stans, buckle your fucking seatbelts or hope off the roller coaster here because I’m about to learn you a thing or two about the most divisive characters in the ACOTAR world.
Starting out very broadly- both characters are introduced as sort of confusing villains (Rhys is “evil” but he’s also helping Feyre. Nesta is an “awful sister”, but she also is protective of Elain and tells Feyre essentially to go and be happy), both have faced significant trauma and grapple with self-loathing and feelings of not being good enough, and both ultimately find redemption and healing with their mates who love them. They also both currently exist in a strange parallel coming out of ACOSF where Rhys is supposedly “chosen by the Cauldron” and Nesta is “blessed by the Mother”- the two sacred entities of Prythian.
Intrigued? More specifics and text analysis under the cut
Mommy (and Daddy) Issues:
Both characters were basically raised by their mother’s alone and then lost them at a young age and that had a deep impact on them. Rhysand had a far more positive experience of being raised by his mother HOWEVER I would argue that it was still “grooming” of a type since she took him away to train in Illyria specifically so that he wouldn’t be influenced by his father.
Tumblr media
Rhys’ mother did this out of love and Nesta’s mother groomed her out of a social climbing agenda, but it had the same effect- they both lost the parent who was their primary caregiver at a young age and they were both not close with their father’s because of their mother’s actions  (again this was a good thing for Rhys, not as much for Nesta).
Parents Death: Rhys and Nesta both blame themselves for one of their parent’s death and are deeply affected by feeling like they failed someone important to them.
Rhys thinks that he is responsible for his mother and sister’s death because he gave Tamlin info
Tumblr media
Rhys even says after this “It should have been me.”
Nesta feels that she was unable to save her father and she hates herself for it.
Tumblr media
Rocky sibling relationship and Separation:
Rhysand and Cassian are obviously a lot further along in their sibling journey, but it’s stated that he and Cassian HATED each other and fought constantly essentially until Azriel arrived and then they decided to be “allies”.
Tumblr media
Nesta and Feyre are also at each others throats but seem to put their differences aside in order to not upset Elain. (Even when Feyre first goes back to the human lands Nesta says NOPE NO FAE! But as soon as Elain asks her to do as Feyre says she agrees) and then Nesta states in ACOSF that she and Feyre were brought together by Elain to be allies in the war.
Tumblr media
Rhysand and Cassian obviously grew into true brothers despite their adversarial, insulting, bitter beginning... and Nesta and Feyre after ACOSF have done the same. Obviously there’s still a lot of work to be done in that relationship, but the parallel stands (and is just strengthened by the fact that in both cases it’s the character with more power in the relationship- Nesta for being the oldest and Rhys for being the one whose family took Cassian in is then mated to the opposite sibling!)
Both have a parent who essentially separated them from their ‘siblings’ for their own benefit. Nesta’s mom isolated her as a child so that she could groom her and tell her how to maneuver her sisters when the time was right while Rhys’ father- afraid of his, Cassian, and Azriel’s combined power- separated them for 7 years through the first war to ensure they wouldn’t ally against him. Nesta was also separated from Feyre by Tamlin and tried to go to the wall to get her back but couldn’t get through- which is very reminiscent to me of the scene at the beginning of ACOWAR from the first war where Rhys is searching desperately but without hope for Cassian.
Shared Trauma and Learning to be “Evil” to protect their family:
both characters are sexual assault survivors who spend a chunk of their book (I’m counting ACOMAF as essentially Rhys’ book since that’s when we learn more about him as a character) grappling with that, coming to terms with it, and moving forward with a general attitude of “Never Again.” I would also argue that even their abusers are parallels as Rhysand was only ‘with’ Amarantha because he was trying to protect his family and Nesta was only ‘with’ Tomas because she thought his family might be able to take in and feed Elain (she says in ACOSF that she would give him whatever he wanted- her body meant nothing to her and Elain meant everything, which is essentially Rhys’ UTM mindset). In addition, both characters are able to escape their abusers out of love for Feyre. Rhys does so when Amarantha is about to kill Feyre, and Nesta does so because she realizes that Tomas would never go to the wall with her to save Feyre.
Beyond this, both characters express that it is the lack of control over their own lives that truly haunts them. Rhys when he felt like he had no choice but to be Amarantha’s puppet and Nesta with a lot of her life, but especially when she is forced into the cauldron. Both of these are things that make them feel like failures for not protecting others. Rhys is haunted that he couldn’t protect Feyre under the mountain and Nesta is haunted that she couldn’t protect Elain from the cauldron.
This leads both characters to have a terrifying power-surge nightmare brought on by their trauma (Rhys from Amarantha; Nesta from the Cauldron) that terrifies those around them and can only be stopped by their mate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In addition to this, they both have a “persona” that they put on and sometimes feel like they can’t shake off, a face that they made to protect themselves and their family. Rhys with his “Court of Nightmares” persona that he uses UTM, in the Hewn City, and with the other High Lords until the war. Part of his growth is letting people see beyond that ‘most powerful high lord of darkness’ mask.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For Nesta this is expressed by her “wolves” that she uses to put up a wall between her and the people who mocked her and her family, and especially Elain. And her learning to open up with Cassian and her found family was really important for her growth
Tumblr media
HOWEVER, they both also keep that persona. Rhys has his mask polished for when anyone might threaten the people he loves and so does Nesta. Neither of them truly gave up that side of themselves, the darkness, they simply learned to stop it from consuming them.
Tumblr media
They also both LIKE doing this to their enemies. Rhys likes to toy with his enemies and torture those who would harm his family or betray him and so does Nesta- she revels in cutting down anyone who insults Elain and says in ACOSF that she’s felt the urge to do the same for Cassian. They both wield words like weapons and use their intelligence to ensure they are always one quip ahead of their enemies. Something that both Feyre and Cassian admire in their mates and try to emulate to a degree.
(Bonus points for the fact that in both cases their families did not ASK to be protected/sacrificed for.)
Found family and sacrifice:
Rhys calls Cassian and Azriel his “brothers” after becoming close while training and they conquer the blood rite together. Nesta calls Emerie and Gwyn her “sisters” after becoming close while training and they conquer the blood rite together. Rhys sacrifices himself to Amarantha in order to protect Cassian and Azriel (and Velaris). Nesta sacrifices herself to hold the path of Enalius to protect Emerie and Gwyn. There’s also a line in ACOMAF and a parallel line in ACOSF essentially about Nesta being willing to do anything- including “whore” herself- to protect Elain, and in order to protect his brother’s that’s exactly what Rhys did- “whore” himself to Amarantha.
Both are ‘saved by’ and feel not good enough for their mate:
I hesitate to use the word “saved by” because ultimately both characters have more agency than that, HOWEVER, both characters rely on their mate to a degree to pull them out of a very dark time and place. Feyre helps Rhys remember who he is and forgive himself for under the mountain and he even specifically calls her his “salvation.”
I don’t think I need to even say the Nesta part here, all of ACOSF is essentially Cassian helping Nesta climb out of a dark period so that they can heal together.
(Both also start connecting with their mates on a “just sex” situation.)
Both characters think that because of the things they’ve done and the darkness inside of them that they don’t deserve the people they have been mated to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously there are many differences, but the characters are similar in a lot of ways and what I think this really highlights is just how true that line is in ACOSF about Nesta being a wolf that was never allowed to learn how to be a wolf. Meanwhile Rhys is 500 years older and has always had power and agency of some kind even at his lowest point. Nesta didn’t have that power and wasn’t allowed to really unleash herself so she armed herself with a steel exterior to make up for that lack of power and control. Which is very similar to what Rhysand did when he felt he didn’t have power under the mountain- put on a cold face, not let anyone in, and act cruel in order to get through it.
Overall it’s an interesting character study because in a lot of ways these are very similar characters, but there is such a MASSIVE divide among the fandom of liking and hating one or both of them. Ultimately, I do think that a lot of the hate Nesta gets is because she’s a woman and female characters simply aren’t allowed to have the same flaws as male ones- which is kind of Nesta’s whole life story. BUT I think that Rhysand actually gets unintentionally screwed over by the narrative in one big way. Becuase my final paralell is that I think a lot of people came around on Nesta when they saw in her perspective that she knows she has problems and how much she was struggling… and I also think that Rhysand is so hated by those who dislike him because of Feyre’s ‘he can do no wrong’ perspective. I think if we saw more of Rhysand internally struggling and knowing that he made the wrong call sometimes and second guessing himself he’d be a lot more likeable character. We know he’s capable of this because when Cassian calls him out on the training roof for always thinking the worst of Nesta he just says “you’re right. I’m sorry” and he even *kinda* admits some wrong when he’s so shocked by how deep Nesta’s trauma is. Feyre and the rest of the IC constantly exalting Rhys as perfect when he so clearly isn’t and in fact has a lot of the same “flaws” as Nesta is probably the most frustrating thing about the character, which ultimately I think is kind of unfair because we know from his few perspectives that he doesn’t see himself that way.

A COURT OF SILVER FLAMES SPOILERS!
My thoughts so far: what i’ve noticed about Nesta and Cassian in the first 94 pages.
Tumblr media
-First thing, Nesta is hella protective of Elain and Cassian no matter what. Elain this, Cassian the bat brute that, it’s shown everywhere in her silent expressions and thoughts.
Tumblr media
- Nesta forced herself to sit in the tub until she got over her fear by making herself realize it was a tub in her home and not the Cauldron.
- Hella repression issues. Nesta mentions she put off the affects of the war until after all those meetings with the Lords and people of the Court.
- Her mother “trained” her while her father picked Feyre and Elain. This still supports my idea that she has heavy mommy issues.
- After Feyre told her she was tearing her building down, that’s when the small warm fire in Nesta sort of died. That was the first decision she could make for herself and her sister just took it away.
- Nesta notices Cassian’s own self degrading comments and it lowkey confuses her on how the rest of the IC goes along with it.
- Cassian is a follower, not a leader. He does as he’s said/does whatever his friends do. He’s not really putting out for his own goals.
- Cassian self degrades a lot, which Nesta also points out when she says the fastest & deepest way to annoy him would be to make him doubt himself and the work he did to get here.
- Cassian remarks on this. He doesn’t believe he’s earned the love even after centuries & even though he’s ready
Tumblr media
- Nesta remarks on the death of thousands of illyrains that she couldn’t save even though she saved Cassian.
- The death of her father. this quote just captures it perfectly.
Tumblr media
- The fact that she saw love in her father’s eyes in his last moments and he saw resentment in hers. She regrets part of it heavily.
- ELAIN. I would rant about her but it’s not the time. Nesta mentions her a lot, as she feels betrayed by her favorite sister. Here are a couple examples.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s that feeling of betrayal because she spent all that time just wanting Elain to say something while no one else cared. And now, instead of trying to help her like she did, Elain picked Feyre.

sometimes i get the impression Nesta fans created another version of her in their minds.
there wasn't any good reason for Nesta to be mean to Feyre, 'cause having daddy issues is not a good reason to let your family starving. and even worst, is not a reason at all to hate and bully your younger sister just because she doesn't wanna die nor let her family die. Nesta had mommy issues too, but that wasn't a hindrance for her to be nice to Elain. so, you see, all of it is not complex, is just stupid.
the things Nesta went through when Feyre wasn't even there aren't relevant in a narrative where we analysis Feyre and Nesta relationship nor for how she behave towards IC, 'cause having a trauma is not a reason to spread your shit in other people who has nothing with it. by the way, she developed depression when her father died, in the end of acowar, so why do you use it to defend everything she did?
y'all came with this narrative where Nesta is so complex when she literally didn't had reasons to be mean. you created this fanfic about her history and acosf came and you hated on it 'cause you saw there's nothing complex about her history.
and it is so stupid, and makes absolutely no sense for you to compare her with a men as if her attitudes wasn't purely shit, and as if it wasn't reason enough to people don't like her. people hate on Nesta not because she is a girl, but because she wasn't a good character. can you imagine a world where you can't criticize any female character without being called a misogynist?

More thoughts that no one asked for....
Sarah said Nesta’s book doesn’t have the same impact without reading the first ACoTaR books. And there are things from her past that really get addressed. I’m thinking...Tomas. I really, really think on top of the poverty, and the overall horrible childhood they had, Tomas did some horrible things to Nesta before he tried to rape her. Because that doesn’t make any sense. There had to be warning signs, I’m pretty sure he hit her or maybe was verbally abusive. In Wings and Embers, Nesta said she knew the engagement wasn’t going to go anywhere, so it hinted to me that she really wanted to break it off bc she knew he was a bad guy.
Also, I really want a backstory on her finding that mercenary she told Feyre to stay away from, when she went to the wall and tried to get Feyre back. DOES NO ONE REMEMBER THE GUTS ON HER TO DO THIS? WHY DO PEOPLE FORGET NESTA DID THAT?
I wanna know all about the psychological damage Nesta has had from losing her mom. ALL OF IT. Because there is so much of it there. And on top of that she’s got her daddy issues. Cassian and his mommy issues can’t even compare, but also, I’m here for when they talk about their parents and if they miss them, their anger maybe.
I want Nesta to tell Cassian that she wanted to starve and die during those years in the cabin, in the hopes that their father would get up and do something. Because I think even Cassian has no idea just how deep this anger, and frankly, a suicidal tendency runs.
Frankly, honestly, truthfully, realistically, I’m very pretty confidently sure, Nesta has been depressed since they went into poverty and began to starve, and literally has not dealt with it since. So when Sarah says, by the beginning of ACOSF Nesta is “beyond imploded,” - IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. It’s been YEARS.
