Fox News has settled a defamation lawsuit from the voting machine company, Dominion, over its reporting of the 2020 presidential election.

In a last-minute settlement before trial, the network agreed to pay $787.5m (£634m) - about half of the $1.6bn initially sought by Dominion. Dominion argued its business was harmed by Fox spreading false claims the vote had been rigged against Donald Trump. The deal spares Fox executives such as Rupert Murdoch from having to testify.

The Fox statement added without elaborating that the network "acknowledges the court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false". Dominion chief executive John Poulos told a press conference the deal included Fox "admitting to telling lies, causing enormous damage to my company".

Justin Nelson, a Dominion attorney, told reporters that "the truth matters". "Lies have consequences," he added. "Over two years ago a torrent of lies swept Dominion and election officials across America into an alternative universe of conspiracy theories, causing grievous harm to Dominion and the country."

I know that the “Buckley Diaz family” has been a term for years in this fandom but I’m going to be brave and tell you one of my pretty controversial headcanons:

If Buck and Eddie ended up together and eventually got married, Buck would change his name and be Evan Diaz.

Considering how awful his parents were to him, I don’t think keeping the name “Buckley”, a name his parents gave him, is a super high priority for him. I think he’d rather have the name of the love of his life and literal son than the name of the people who hurt him so badly. I think at that point in his relationship he’d identify more with the Diaz name.

I also think it would be a little funny when he would introduce himself to someone he’s just met like: “Evan Diaz, but everyone calls me Buck.” And whoever he meets always just looks a little confused like “Why is that his nickname?”

idk my whole stance on the “will they/won’t they” in regards to buddie canon is just. it’s loud, it’s oddly ironic, that these are the only two main’s on the show that are S I N G L E. still! in season sex six! that their relationship statuses have basically run parallel to each other, that they keep trying and failing to find a romantic partner. so let’s look at the other side of the coin. what’s the other option? introducing yet again brand new love interests for both buck and eddie and having these people be their endgame relationships?

eddie? who has always held his cards close to his chest, is extremely protective over his son and who he gets close to, who has already tried dating the seemingly perfect woman for him and his son?

buck? who’s going to be a harder sell than ever now that he knows not to settle? who’s going to be looking for someone that accepts him just as he is, someone that compliments him perfectly, who accepts his relationships with the firefam, with chris and eddie, without complaint?

if this were season 2, 3, or hell, even season 4, i’d say yeah maybe we have time for all that. but we’re nearing the end of season SIX and there have been no new love interests brought in. and i don’t foresee 911 being a show that runs for 20+ seasons. i mean it could i guess but like. we’re in it. the meat of the sandwich. narratively, i don’t see it making sense for them to spend precious time cultivating new endgame relationships for the two of them. they’d likely have to run them at the same time, parallel to each other. yet again. which would be a tell in its own right that they were actively avoiding buddie canon.

i’m not saying they absolutely won’t do that, i have no idea what their actual plans are. i’m just saying they’re boxing themselves into a corner. a great big rainbow-filled flaming gay corner.

I’m about to say something and I want to clarify I’m not hating on hen and totally get the heat of the moment/ emotions high because the other people are probably seriously injured/dead because of that guy but the “why do the drunks always walk away unscathed” (paraphrasing probably) line is just irked me out so much

Like we saw something similar with the drunk driver in season 4 (?) and we already know that Bobby empathises on a DEEP level and recognises that that could’ve easily been him

I think (hope) that this is intentional as this is the episode where bobby is in danger and hen is instrumental in discovering the cruise ship disaster and that they make a point to tie it all in

There are two types of Buddie Shippers;

Type 1 (The Cool One): They ship Buck and Eddie because of character development and story arc. When they look at Buck and Eddie individually, they see the parts they are missing and realize the other is the perfect counterpart.

Type 2 (The Hyper Sexual): They see that Buck and Eddie are hot/attractive and just want to see them make out. Plot doesn’t matter, just the intimacy.

Both types of shippers are valid in their own ways, but one needs more therapy than the other.

Okay this is honestly a really minor thing but it's been bugging me when I read RWRB fics

Prince of Wales is the title given to the male heir apparent of the British monarchy

The children of the heir apparent are Prince/Princess xxx of Wales

These two are different

To use a real-life example real quick, the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton are Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Wales, but the Prince of Wales is William. Before that, the kids were Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis of Cambridge because William's primary title was Duke of Cambridge

So back to RWRB

In the book, Henry is Prince Henry of Wales, but he is not the Prince of Wales. His mother Catherine is the Princess of Wales, and when she is queen Philip will be the Prince of Wales. (Even that's not entirely accurate because there isn't a designated title for a female heir apparent, and Princess of Wales is for the wife of the Prince of Wales, I'm guessing because before 2011 older sisters ranked lower than their younger brothers in the line of succession)

So the movie changing Catherine to Duchess of Edinburgh and Philip to Duke of Cambridge actually is closer to reality, in that case, Movie Henry's full title should be HRH Prince Henry of Edinburgh

Which is kinda nice since Nick's acting career started with him doing a version of Spring Awakening in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

The messages, included in a legal filing as part of Dominion Voting System’s $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News, showed that Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham brutally mocked lies being pushed by former President Donald Trump’s camp asserting that the election was rigged.

In one set of messages revealed in the court filing, Carlson texted Ingraham, saying that Sidney Powell, an attorney who was representing the Trump campaign, was “lying” and that he had “caught her” doing so. Ingraham responded, “Sidney is a complete nut. No one will work with her. Ditto with Rudy [Giuliani].”

The messages also revealed that Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation, did not believe Trump’s election lies and even floated the idea of having Carlson, Hannity, and Ingraham appear together in prime time to declare Joe Biden as the rightful winner of the election. Such an act, Murdoch said, “Would go a long way to stop the Trump myth that the election stolen.”

After the election, a furious Trump attacked Fox News and encouraged his followers to switch to Newsmax. And, in the days and weeks after the presidential contest had been called, they did just that. Fox News shed a chunk of its audience while Newsmax gained significant viewership.

The court filing also revealed that Fox News executives had criticized some of the network’s top talent behind the scenes. Jay Wallace, the network president, said that “the North Koreans” did a “more nuanced show” than then-host Lou Dobbs. Jerry Andrews, the executive producer of “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” referred to host Jeanine Pirro as “nuts.”

As someone who has bright red hair and lives in a fairly rural area, I’m sure people look at me and assume, and that’s fine. They’d be right I’m bi/pan and gender-fluid. But assuming people’s sexuality/gender never makes you a better person, it doesn’t really change anything about that person.

And for that matter people don’t have to come out for them to be acceptable. It doesn’t matter.

I’ve just been thinking about all the discussion about the rwrb movie and how the actors ‘aren’t out’. Why does it matter. They are playing the character extremely well in my opinion. I don’t think they should be forced, and that’s what it is if you keep saying they need to confirm or deny what their sexuality is, it’s forcing them to be out.

It takes some people years to figure out what they identify as and that’s fine. I don’t think there needs to be a label for everything. I think people get too used to being put in boxes. Some people enjoy the process of being in a category and some people don’t. And in our society when people are put in a category expectations are set unconsciously it sucks but that’s how it is.

And I’m not saying labels are bad in any way. I was extremely comforted by finding out lots of people feel like I do. But I don’t want my sexuality to have me be forced into a box.

And this isn’t me saying joking with your friends so morally wrong or some shit no that’s stupid. Joke all you want with friends I do it all the time. But a stranger who doesn’t even know you exist?? None of your business.

But I’m also a fairly gender-fluid presenting, very white person so I know that my sexuality is very minor in my box compared to other peoples boxes.

To summarize- I’m very excited for the rwrb movie. Give rolls to out actors but don’t force people out if they are given the rolls. And when I get drunk I think about psychology or gay fictional people.

kevin has such a….je ne sais quoi….something about him that makes me want to see him be a final girl in a horror movie. here we are again talking about him getting chased in the woods . anyways.

FORRRRR REALLLLLLL aftg has so little horror fics or even suspense really and its very sad because the foxes are the perfect cast ensemble for a death game scenario or something like bodies bodies bodies… i mentioned this earlier in the week i think but i watched the menu with anya taylor joy and it was like the quintessential dayurno bait re: horror movie tropes so i desperately need to see the foxes surviving a similar situation. either that or maybe an alice in borderland au which i also loved….. sorry but can you imagine? if the infighting wasnt bad enough try being in the shoes of someone who has to go against andrew minyard and his protegees in a death game

i think this kind of horror has great potential to exacerbate and amplify the worst parts of a character’s personality and the foxes would absolutely break under the pressure. i don’t know if they would kill each other per se (besides andrew) but i think there’d be some pretty rough scuffles. anyway i need final girl kevin and horror movie kevin in general because i want to twirl my hair and kick my feet every time someone protects him. i’m a normal well adjusted fan like that

also re: bodies bodies bodies when i was watching it i thought the idea of the trojans murdering each other like that was kind of really fun so i’m tossing the idea of an au where kevin and jean go to meet their boyfriend’s rich friends at someone’s vacation home and people start murdering each other like crazy

Got the urge to do some more 'Game History' artwork!

Basically, I want to draw art for all the games that shaped my childhood, there are 3 Sonic the Hedgehog series games among those, so here is 2 of them!

Sonic Rush, and its sequel, Rush Adventure! My bestie and I grew up always having opposing games, like with Pokemon id have one version and she'd have the other, so our parents got us Rush and Rush Adventure, knowing our love of Sonic, assuming they were similar. That said, I didn't really 'play' Adventure, more like played the game through my bestie lol Rush is a much shorter game than Adventure, so when I finished Rush, I basically watched her play Adventure; we love Marine, she's adorable!

I don't remember much about Sonic Rush, but I know I got more attached to Cream and Blaze from it!

I guess it can irk me when people like to write off the Fox-killed-Fives thing as a blank space of total mind control by Palps because it really removes his agency in that situation in a way that does not serve either the story or the character. Like, yeah, the coruscant guard, out of everyone in the galaxy, probably would’ve been the most likely to put together the pieces about Palpatine being a sith and the war a farce simply due to their nature as background “objects” in countless political meetings and as witnesses to countless phone calls. I don’t think it’s too far fetched to hc that Palpatine probably made an effort to counteract this by overtaxing, under-supplying, and discrediting the Guard at every turn, and maybe even sapping their energy and will through the Force. But. But Fox as a character is interesting to me because, despite all that, he could’ve still chosen to fire that gun. That could be a moment we see the flip side to the Umbara arc, where a soldier who has endured the horrors of slavery and war and psychological conditioning must choose between his masters and his brothers and, unlike Rex, he chooses the former. He’s a FOIL TO REX, his decision is a direct contrast. Clones aren’t a homogenous whole, that’s the entire point, and to remove Fox’s ability to make that decision all on his own is destructive imo
