He stopped by the door as he heard you and your significant other scream at the top of your lungs. Out of nowhere the door swung open and all he could do was step aside, your significant other stomping out of your apartment. He watched them walk away before looking at you, his facial expression not giving anything away.

“Sorry.” You didn’t know why but you felt the urge to apologize.

“Why are you apologizing? You didn’t do anything wrong did you?” He deadpanned, blinking slowly.

“I guess you’re right. Uhm.. have a good night?” You swallowed dryly, slowly closing your front door.

“Wait.” He stops the door from fully closing. “Do you maybe need some company? I rented a movie and got some snacks.” He raised the plastic bag he was holding in his free hand, giving you a lopsided smile.

You stared at him for a moment, dumbfounded. “Sure?” Your face twisted in question.

“Are you asking me or are you saying yes?” He raised an eyebrow at you, nose wrinkling.

“No, yes. Uhm Just. . . Come in.” You give him a polite smile and open the door wide for him to enter.

He walks in and studies your apartment, setting his backpack down on the floor by your door. You walked with him and looked at his features. His eyes flick to yours and you’re forced to look away, a blush painting your cheeks from embarrassment.

“Make yourself comfortable.” You quickly made your way to the living room and patted the couch. “Did you want anything to drink? I think I have some soda cans, juice and water.” You turn your body to look towards the kitchen.

“I’ll take a can of soda please and thank you.” He walked towards the couch and crouched down in front of your television. “You don’t mind if I put the movie in, do you?”

“Oh no it’s fine, go ahead.” You said as you walked to the kitchen to grab two cans of soda..

You walk back with the cans in your hands, watching him turn the tv on and sit on the couch. For some unknown reason, this all felt very normal. It was like you’ve always hung out with him like this, even though you rarely even spoke to the guy.

“You good?” He peered over his shoulder from where he was seated and you nodded.

“Yeah, I’m good. What movie are we watching?” You walked around the couch and handed him the can, setting yours down on the coffee table before sitting down.

“It’s this movie called Eli. A horror film. I hope you don’t mind.” He opens the can and takes a sip.

“Yeah, I don’t mind. You know what it’s about?” You crossed your legs, head turned to the side to look at him.

“It’s about this kid who has this illness where he's allergic to everything and his parents take him to this house to get treated.” His expression changes for the first time since you first met him.

Whenever you saw him, he would always have this blank expressionless look on his face. This made you aware of him, smiling every time you locked eyes. Surprisingly, he would smile back with the same enthusiasm. You felt something stir inside you yet you put it aside for the sake of your, pretty much sucky relationship.

“Earth to thy neighbor?” He waved his hand in front of your face, snapping you out of your thoughts. “I’m starting the movie. Oh, here.” He hands you a bag of your favorite chips.

“Hey, this is my favorite! How did you know?” You smiled brightly at the stoic man and he shrugged.

“Just a wild guess.” He took out another bag of chips and opened it after he put the soda can on the coffee table, pressing play on the remote control.

The intro to the movie plays and he gets settled on the couch, one chip after another going in his mouth. In a matter of seconds, he is completely submerged into the movie. Your eyes dart from his face to the television, hoping to see his expression change again. You continued to do this throughout the movie up until he poked your cheek and made you look at the screen.

“Stop looking at me, you’re missing the movie.” He sounded amused, like he liked that you were looking at him.

“Yeah, yeah.” You shook your head and finally looked back at the screen, trying to focus on the movie when the door bursts open.

“What the fuck?” Your significant other freezes as they stood in the doorway.

He looks over his shoulder but stays seated next to you, a flash of irritation comes across his face. They stormed into the living room and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, pulling him up. Your partner was snarling at him, his other hand balled into a fist so you decided to hold it.

“Get your hands off of me.” They turned their head slightly to look at you, anger apparent in their eyes.

This made you cower and he could tell, now he was getting irritated. You put your hands flat on your lap and stared at them, trying to calm yourself and trying to hold back your tears. Your eyes flick towards his hand and see it curl into a fist, ready to attack. You quickly put your hand on his, shaking your head and his hand relaxes.

“I leave for a little bit and you’re here with this fucker? My friends were right. You totally are banging this guy.” Your lover's voice drops, not even looking at you. “We’re done.” They let your neighbor go and leave out the front door again.

You watch them leave and for some reason, you didn’t know exactly what to feel. Should you have been sad because now you’re single or should you be happy?

“I guess they just weren’t for you.” He straightened his shirt and sighed. “You ok?”

You got taken aback by the question. “I should be asking you that. You two almost got into it.” Looking down at your hands and still feeling shaky.

“I’m only asking because you looked terrified. It was like you were waiting for them to do something.” He says this seriously and you could hear the concern in his voice.

You stared at your hands longer before shaking them. You feel the bruise on back throb, remembering that fight you two had the other night. How his fist felt on your back and it stung. You tilt your head up and your eyes meet his.

“Am I right?” His eyes bore into yours, searching your eyes deeply.

You couldn’t look at anymore. His hand quickly goes up to your cheek, caressing it gently. You feel your heart twist, the tears you so strongly held back flowed freely down your cheek. He continues to glide his thumb over your cheek, wiping your tears.

“They were but I don’t know how to feel.” Your voice was more shaky than you thought. “We’ve been together for so long that even when they hurt me I didn’t want to leave. I didn’t want to be alone. Now we’re over, I don’t even know how to feel.” You clenched on the hem of your shirt, feeling frustrated.

“You don’t have to be alone.” He says this calmly and you look back up at him again.

“What?” Of course you’d be confused.

He puts his other hand on your other cheek. “I’m saying, you don’t have to be alone.” He makes you keep your gaze at him. “I’m right here and I’ll definitely treat you better.”

The confusion immediately dissipates from your face. You just stared at him, not knowing what to do or how to answer. Yes, you already knew that you did in fact like him but isn’t it too soon?

“We don’t have to rush into it. I’m just letting you know, I’m here. Take your time, I’ll wait.” He puts his hands down and smiles at you.

You feel your heart flutter. “Oh, it’s like you read my mind.” Your lips pressed together as if you didn’t mean to say what you said.

“It was written all over your face and besides, you literally just got out of your relationship. I know you’re going to need time and I’ll be here to help you heal every step of the way.” The smile on his face gets softer and you could tell he was sincere with his word.

You return the smile and nod at him, wiping the rest of your tears away. “I trust you then. And until I give you my answer, I hope that you’ll still feel the way you do now.”

“Of course I will. I know I will.” He flicks your forehead and sits back down, patting the space next to him. “Can we continue the movie? It was getting interesting there but we got interrupted so. .”

You giggled at this and sat down next to him. You got comfy on the couch and looked back at the screen, his concentration goes to the movie. Your thoughts linger on him and the future ahead.

You knew that your first mission was to take care of yourself and if he was serious about his declaration then you knew he’d stay. Nowhere in your mind had doubt on his words and you didn’t know why it was like that. All you knew now was that you weren’t alone and that you had someone who you knew would be with you and stay by your side.

okay so uhm it was soft hours in the yujibee server and me and some friends got rlly soft over nohebi so :D hope ya enjoy (and kinda self-indulge bc there aren't a lot nohebi content and they deserve more love so :(() some of these are some ideas that were contributed idk which ones, but theyre there somewhere!!

▸ as much as i love him, he probably wont hold hands in public ▸ like it’s RARE for y’all to hold hands ▸ and if you really want to and asked, he’d be more than glad to hold hands in public ▸ best bet he won’t let go of your hand,, idk why ▸ “suguru, let go” ▸ “no, i like it where it is” ▸ “but i need to get something” ▸ depending on the mood, he’d be playful about it ▸ i mean like swinging your hands back and forth, you get me? ▸ he would unconsciously rub his thumb over that part of your hand howdoyoudescribeit ▸ 100/10 would hold hands with him
