Forbidden Dream
This is all of my Adventure Time AU in chronological story order. Thanks to my friend for proof-read.
Act I: Prismo and Betty
This takes some time after the events of F&C. Prismo and Scrabby inhabit the TR(TimeRoom) and Golbetty has gotten restless with her time in space. She decides to reach out to other multiversal beings, but no one wants to associate with Golb. She finally finds someone that puts up with her ..that being the Wishmaster.
Prismo is scared of Golbetty at first, especially Scrabby since he has a little bit of history with her. He scurries off or hides behind Prismo when she is in the TR. To Scrabbys surprise, Pris and Betty hit it off and become good friends. They find they have something in common, which is their “human” past. Theyre both mortals turned to immortals.
The duo start off by drinking and making fanfics together, but then Betty proposes the idea of making these fics “real”. Prismo is hesitant at first but lately he doesn’t mind breaking the rules.
Tumblr media
At first they visit universes that Prismo considers safe. They treat them like vacations, and a lot of these worlds do not have the typical AT characters. Theyre peaceful docile places. Prismo gets daring, telling Betty that he wants to feel alive again. The two of them agree to visit a dangerous world, the Vampire Kingdom.
Notes:
- Betty chose her physical form to look like magic Betty because she felt it would be strange to appear as she normally did in the past.
- Prismos physical form is what he looked like as a younger human. He thought it would be more fitting for the “adventure”. Also.. He hates how clothing feels on him, so the see-through garments suffice.
- Scrabby is not happy about their friendship. He feels that Prismo has gotten even lazier, foregoing his Wishmaster responsibilities and even worse, ignoring him. The scarab thought he found someone that was happy to spend time with him for the first time, But feels like he has gone back to being the “forgotten” one.
EP II: Vampire Kingdom
Tumblr media
Once Pris and Betty teleport here, theyre immediately caught off guard by a group of vampires that whisk Prismo away and the two are separated. Betty gets surprised by a starved vampire!Simon, who at first doesnt recognize her until he gets a good look at her face.
He refuses to believe its actually Betty and rather a wizard attempting to play tricks on him. Marcy calls his name and he flys away, leaving Betty stunned.
The vampire world is an AU where Vampires take over, but Simon never died and was able to stay with Marcy. Marcy isnt evil here. Simons crown was stolen before he could make a complete transformation into IceKing, and his sanity was kept in part to Marcy turning him to save him from a group of hungry vampires. One curse was replaced with another.
Marcy was turned at a younger age by the VK, but Simon saved her by scratching at the VKs eye (his face scar). Even though the King is furious at Simon for this, he thinks it is more amusing to keep Simon alive and suffering from vampirism. Vampires are starved in this world just like “The Star” episode, but Simon proposes the idea to wrangle human (and animal) survivors and keep them on a reserve to supply the Vampires with a food source. He inevitably becomes the person in charge of the Blood farms. Keep in mind, Simon did this to save humans, otherwise they would have been hunted to extinction.
Unlike the safe worlds PrisBetty visited, this world has most of the original cast in them. Finn is a survivor of the Blood Farms, swearing to kill Simon who he believes imprisoned him in there (which.. is true). The farm is surrounded by booby traps all around the perimeter, no one can get in or out without some level of flying.
Finn always managed to get close to escaping But eventually gets caught in one of the traps. The last attempt caused him to cut his own arm off to be freed and helped by Huntress Wizard. She is one of the few wizards to help the freedom fighters, a band of humans and candy people led by Commander PB. Wizards are hated by Vampires since theyre the few beings that can overpower them. They try to stay out of each others business But huntress is an exception as she feels that the vampires are disrupting the balance of nature.
The Candy Kingdom is fortress walled with wooden spikes and garlic (I thought it would be silly Lol). PBs armor consists of wooden stakes and reminiscent of Golb who she is a follower of. She has access to the Enchiridion and sees Golb as a being that she should harness the power of if the vampires happen to overwhelm her people someday.
The end of the story would involve PrisBetty helping Simon overthrow the VK after Marcy discovers the vampires ability to “drink red” instead of blood. They team up with the help of PB and Huntress. Simon never truly reconciles with Betty as his defense mechanism is to push any feelings of his past away. But he does have a newfound respect for her and tells her to visit him again. Simon will assume the role of Vampire King and free the humans afterward.
Tumblr media
Notes:
- Simon is the only vampire dressing in traditionally “Dracula” clothes. Because hes a nerd and thinks its fitting.
- Marcy is raised by Simon here instead of VK, so she is a lot kinder and sympathetic to the humans and candy kingdom (even if she doesnt show it for a while).
EP III: Winter Kingdom
Tumblr media
After the Vampire world, Prismo and Betty decide their adventuring is “complete” and attempt to teleport back to the Time Room with Prismos magic. This doesnt work out. Turns out, their human forms have been draining their magic slowly, making it so that they need to find a magical item to recharge. This being the Enchiridion.
This is a totally different world than (Canon) Winter Kings as obviously he is alive here.
Ooo has been mysteriously frozen over and put into an eternal Ice Age. There is hardly any life (apart from immortal beings and those resistant to the temperatures) so hardly anyone lives on the surface. Prismo automatically assumes WK is responsible, but Betty refuses to believe Simon would be the cause of this destruction. WK has a much larger kingdom with a variety of ice people, a lot of them more human-like in appearance. It seems like he is trying to mirror a human society.
Here WK has Bettys skeleton and attempting to use the cloning machine he has in F&C to clone a “real” Betty (which is why he doesnt have an ice clone of her).
The backstory of this WK mirrors my au version of him.
Prismo and Betty are briefly separated and I wont go into too much detail on the story. Betty gets the “safe” tour of the kingdom by WK and Prismo is left to wander in search for the Enchiridion. He starts to see things that point to a darker scene (fire people fighting ice soldiers, lack of any plant life, and ice clones of people who no longer exist). At the same time, Betty is off-put by WKs controlling nature. He reveals to her that he has been in a 100-year war with the Fire Kingdom “who destroy everything” with their flames, while ice “preserves it”. Betty is shocked to see the extent of destruction the Ice Kingdom has caused to Ooo and manages to slip away to do her own investigating. She eventually ends up in the room Bettys corpse is kept, which is the only place that WK allows plant life to grow. The Enchiridion was sitting on skeleton Bettys lap.
Tumblr media
The two of them engage in a fight where he details his plan for her and Ooo.
Prismo manages to save her at the end of it. Up until this point hes been a pacifist in the story. They use the Enchiridion to teleport home and they end up.. not there.
Notes:
- I had a bonus page where Scrabby is reacting to PrisBetty not arriving back in the Time Room. He thinks they didnt teleport back on purpose.
- This page also has WK grabbing Bettys ankle right as she teleports. I was going to have WK teleport with them so there was some kind of threat. I am not sure yet.
- The fight scene was supposed to be a lot longer with Betty having the upperhand at first, But I didnt want to draw all of it.
- Winters appearance slowly turns back into Simon when separated from the magic crown.
EP IV: Back Home
They end up in Ooo where the magic teleported them into the sky, making them fall a great distance. They are a little injured, but Betty is mostly shaken by her experience in the Winter world. She redirects this into frustration at Prismo for not teleporting them to the correct place and that they would need to search another “sucky universe”.
Prismo is frustrated and goes off on his own to find another magical object. Betty stays put in the forest. When looking up, Prismo realizes the universe they teleported to was actually the main Ooo upon seeing the floating human city. He rushes back to where Betty was sitting, telling her to go find her Simon here in Ooo, that he knew that he had the Enchiridion in his closet. Betty refuses, knowing that she already said goodbye to Simon years ago and him seeing her again will only hurt him.
Prismo is annoyed at this but walks off, and Betty wanders around the forest until she encounters one of the transport boats that take people up to the city. In her reluctance, she hitches a ride. Meanwhile Prismo reaches a graveyard on the outskirts of the woods, he hides in the bushes and sees a familiar person, Finn, walking up and leaving a bouquet of flowers at the grave.
When Betty makes it up to the city, she explores for a bit before approaching Simon (who is signing a childs book). Before she could say anything, she covers her face with her hat and speeds off. He is at first confused by this but is immediately distracted by the kid again.
Tumblr media
Betty is in shock and retreats onto the boat leading her back down to land. She eventually catches up to Prismo, who is kneeling over Jakes grave. She attempts to comfort him, but the words fall short. He asks her if she visited Simon, but Betty says she couldnt do it. At this point Prismo feels like he wasted his time in the Time Room when he could have been spending it in his human form visiting Jake. He remained trapped in the TR unable to spend time with the mortals he built connections with. He feels that Betty is going to suffer the same regret he feels after Simon inevitably dies.
In a turn of events, Prismo places his hand on the grave and it teleports them back into the Time Room. They are amazed by this, Jakes grave acted like a magical object would have. They temporarily celebrate before Betty is impaled by an angry Scrabby.
Tumblr media
Bettys human form is heavily injured as Prismo and the Scarab fight in several rooms. Scrabby tells him that he alerted the auditors about their misdeeds. That they will both be locked away for thousands of years or perhaps forever just like he was trapped in the Time Room.
Prismo temporarily subdues Scrabby and goes back to the main room where Betty is. This is where he turns her into a fox to keep her hidden, and promises that her memories are all stored in her body dormant in Golb (Like how Prismos form is dormant in the Time Room).
Tumblr media
Fox!Betty wakes up in Ooo, no memories, a feeling of disconnect from her body, and hungry.
End of Act 1
Act II is all about Bettys life as a fox in Ooo. Its a lot calmer and slow burn in comparison to Act I. Upon landing in Ooo, fox!Betty encounters posters advertising Simons* sci-fi series Casper and Nova. She is convinced he is knowledgeable about space because a talking dog told her he was.
*EDIT: Someone pointed out that C&N was written by Astrid (it is implied heavily). Pretend the posters are the two of them working together, maybe Simon helping Astrid write them since she is just a kid.
Tumblr media
She starts pestering Simon at one of his book signings and he already dislikes foxes because earlier in the week, a band of them stole his draft for an upcoming book. Betty proposes that she will find the notes and return them to him if she can have a place to stay (Even though he says no, she crashes at his place anyway).
I thought about Simon giving Betty a nickname so that she isnt just referred to as “fox”, so she is “Sunny” since she really likes when he makes sunny-side up eggs. She really likes eggs as a fox that is her quirk.
Update 1/21/24: Sunny encounters Simon after breaking into his home and snooping around for clues. Simon ambushes her in the Golb ritual room, assuming she has come to steal the Enchiridion. Sunny explains herself and claims that she can get Simons draft back from the fox thieves. They go on an “adventure”. It is revealed that fox!Betty can transform into Betty only when unconscious/sleeping. Simon wakes up next to her but assumes he is hallucinating..
Post about Simon and fox!Bettys dynamic.
I couldnt fit all images into this post as there is a 10 photo limit. I decided to link additional photos to underlined text. If you want further context, check those out. I love reading others AUs and was inspired to do my own. Any questions can be left in comment. Thanks for read..!

Tumblr media
 ─── ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ⋅ ⋅ ───
“What do you think you will do once this is over?” Astarion’s head rested in your lap, your fingers running through silky white hair.
“I suppose I’ll just-” You stopped for a moment hesitantly, “Well, I’ll just follow you. I’ll follow you wherever you go. Whatever that entails.”
The large tub of warm water offered your mishandled skin the slightest inkling of comfort. Your bones ached to jump out of your skin, discomfort settling deep and unforgivingly. Unsure if this was the work of cruel touches or the utter disgust you felt for whatever was puppeteering Astarion around. You stare at the ceiling as if the answer to the problem in your mind is etched into it. Astarion was in there, trapped. You try to imagine what he must be thinking. Feeling.
You can’t help but notice the similarities of where you two have ended up. While Astarion was stuck in darkness in the literal sense, you are trapped in a different type of darkness. Shrouded by the darkness of the other Astarion’s thumb. You were a plaything, a pet, a toy.
-
“Eyes on me.” Astarion grunts out, buried deeply in a twenty-something human’s cunt. The sight turns your stomach viscerally. It’s not him, you try to remind yourself. You watch from the oak chair in the corner of your bed chamber, allowing yourself to dissociate entirely. The woman was beautiful.
Hair of sunshine and eyes of the vast waters, you knew of the woman’s fate. To end up another spawn for Astarion to toy with. Humans in the area who had come to learn of Astarion’s true nature came with the proposition of trades in exchange for immortality. You felt pity for her. If she knew what she was getting into, she would never have come here, indeed. Nobody could want this.
“He would have liked her too.” Astarion taunted as he led the woman to your bed, plans to desecrate the one place in the manor that you were able to find an ounce of comfort in. “Maybe I’ll let the dear old Astarion come out for a bit of fun.” Your heart sinks to your knees. The thought of another using Astarion’s body and soul for their own heinous intentions. You couldn’t bear it.
“Please don’t.” You pleaded with him.
Astarion tuts as he presses you down onto the chair. For whatever reason, he doesn’t follow through with his threat. Was it mercy? No, that can’t be it. Perhaps he simply wanted the enjoyment of watching the pain on your face while he used the body of the man you love to hurt you. Maybe he wanted the fun. You would never be sure.
-
You’re brought back to the present, the events of last night spinning in your mind. Your punishment for entertaining the incident. That’s what he called it, anyway. You longed to free him, to free yourself along with him. To leave this cursed manor and never return with the real Astarion in tow.
How?
The question that had been on your mind since your meeting with Astarion as you prepared for bed. How does one free a soul from a damnation such as this? Out of all the beasts, villains, and monsters you’ve fought, none had prepared you for a feat of this nature. On the precipice of jumping into the unforgiving sun and turning yourself into ash, that was no longer an option. Your beloved needed help. You weren’t going to abandon him.
The opening of the door jolted you from your thoughts, and you let out a sigh of relief upon seeing your chambermaid. “Lady Ancunin, may I be of assistance?” You nod, allowing the woman to approach the tub. You sit up to give her access to your wet hair. There was silence as she worked the knots from your strands, only sounds of meager discomfort when she tugged too hard, always followed by a heartfelt sorry from her. “What was he like?” There was a pause with her words, almost as if she expected to be scolded. Though, you both knew you wouldn’t dare. “I mean before-” She trails cautiously.
“Wonderful. He is wonderful, Alodia.” Your eyes were glued to the bath water that engulfed your body. Lowering your voice as if someone other than her would hear, “Maybe you will have the pleasure of meeting him someday.”
Alodia nods, “I bet he was a real gentleman to have someone such as yourself.” She couldn’t comprehend why you were with him, you could tell. Someone with such a kind soul forever paired with another who may as well be a devil ruling the Nine Hells.
“Careful.” You whisper, eyeing the door. No conversation went too long without Astarion’s knowledge, not even amidst nothing but the bars of soap that clean you. Alodia understood and continued to work through your hair without another word. It was clear you were just as much a prisoner as her.
Once your hair was tied into two careful braids and an obnoxious velvet gown clung to your body, you sat in the manor’s library. With Astarion out for the night, you made yourself comfortable with every piece of literature between the walls of your confinement. The stack of books grew as the night grew darker and darker. How much time had passed, you were unsure. You slammed down the last book and glanced around. A frantic sob erupted from your chest, heaving. You laid your head on the table before you and wallowed into the oak of the desk.
You were defeated. Hopeless. This godsdamn library had every composition, novel, and prose that you could think of, and not one aided you. Trance-like, you stood from the desk and made your way to the entry of the manor. A voice briefly stops you, “Lady Ancunin, I don’t believe Master Ancunin has granted you-”
“Tell Master Ancunin to burn in the Nine Hells.” You spit back, making your exit.
It had been too long. Once you’re out of the manor’s view, you breathe in the fresh air about you. As you get further into the heart of the city, chatter cultivates. Even in the middle of the night, it was lively, bringing you a hope you had not felt for a long time. Even reflecting on what punishment may await you once Astarion learns of your absence, you deemed this worth it. Of course. You would have preferred the warmth of the sun. Given your ailment, the beauty of the moon did just fine.
Strolling to Elfsong Tavern, you hummed an incandescent tune to yourself. My, this must have been the most airy you’ve felt in just shy of a year. The little bit of gold you managed to snag from Astarion’s stash may have just been enough to get you a drink and, if lucky, a room. You knew it was only a matter of time before he came looking for you. Maybe you’ll be banished to the dungeon. You didn’t allow yourself the time to think too hard. You approach the barkeep, looking at the selection behind him. “Wine? Have you got red wine?” You were a tad rusty in the socialization department.
The man behind the counter chuckles, “We do indeed.” He retrieves a bottle from behind the counter, preparing a glass. “What troubles you?” He inquires as you watch the red liquid spout into spotless glass.
“Whatever could you mean?” Your lips are pursed, accepting the drink as he offers it. You dig into your coin purse, “How much do I owe?”
“On the house.” He smiles. Alas, it would be warmer without the pity that lies so evident beneath the surface. You’d forgotten how ill you must have looked. Astarion’s words played over in your head.
“Gods, what has he done to you?”
“Alan Alyth.” The man offers. An introduction? It had been well over a year since you had the pleasure of introducing yourself.
“Tav Carmine.” You return before making your way to an empty table in the corner of the lightly occupied room. You bring the glass to your lips, and the dry liquid soothes your nerves for the time being. I will enjoy this, you thought to yourself.
-
“Gods, you’re beautiful.” Astarion declares, his fingertips gliding across the delicate skin of your hipbone, up to your chest, cupping your exposed breast in his hand. His thumb moves in careful circles around your nipple. He sits upon his knees, watching the way your body reacts to even the smallest of his touch. His other hand moves comfortably onto your cheek, almost as if he’s relishing in the warmth that radiates from your body.
“You’ve only told me fifty times today. Are you feeling alright?” You teased, welcoming his cool touch across your eager body. His head dips, meeting your lips lovingly. One of your hands knots gently into his hair, and you shift so a leg rests on either side of his toned body.
“I suppose I’ll have to work on it tomorrow. Tonight, I’ll be making love to said beautiful woman.” His words are a prayer against your lips, and your heart flutters against your ribcage.
-
“I’ve been expecting you.”
The unknown voice causes your head to snap up in attention. “I’m sorry, have we met?” You try to recall the face, maybe someone you became acquainted with during one of many adventures, but you just cannot place them. You tip the glass to your lips, eyes never leaving the stranger in front of you.
“I don’t believe we have.” They helped themselves to the chair across from you. “I believe I can help you. I know what ails you.” The man is older, with brown hair peppered in grey roots. His eyes radiate a sort of enthusiasm.
“You couldn’t possibly know what ails me.” You chortle, though the sarcasm is evident in your laugh.
“Everything has led you straight to me. Try me.”

If you're doing requests, can I get Solomon headcanons, theme "sightseeing in Devildom/Human World", genre is fluff or author's choice if easier.
Hello there, my friend!
Ahhh yes this is definitely fluff. And honestly I think that's the best genre for this prompt! Because imagine what a silly guy Solomon would be, taking you all over the place just to see you smile.
Thank you for participating!
COZY COMFORTS EVENT
Tumblr media
GN!MC x Solomon sightseeing in the Devildom/human world
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
When you tell Solomon that you want to do some sightseeing, you quickly find out that there are a lot of places an immortal sorcerer can take you. Across worlds, he knows all the best places to see and things to do. If you need him to tell you where he's taking you, he will. But left to his own devices, he'll keep every destination a secret. He loves to see the look of surprise on your face when he teleports you somewhere new.
In the human world, he takes you to famous places. He insists on selfies at the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China. But he also takes you to quiet, out of the way places. He shows you a field where he found a rare flower needed for magical potions. He brings you to the hill with a view of what was once his hometown. Solomon shares these pieces of his long life with you, from a time before he knew who you were.
Solomon takes you to some of his favorite restaurants in the human world, too. You're blown away by the delicious food. You're also unsurprised when one spot kicks you both out the minute the chef catches sight of Solomon. Apparently, he once tried to show them how they could improve one of their dishes and ended up making the oven explode. You let out a long suffering sigh while Solomon just takes your hand and runs, laughing the whole time.
He shows you places in the bright sunlight, but he also takes you to locations better experienced at night. Have you ever seen the aurora, MC? He knows the perfect arctic spot to huddle together and watch the bright colors on display in the sky. You may be freezing, but he keeps you warm with his own body and a little bit of magic. He can't resist adding a little magical flare of his own to the aurora's display.
Although he's spent a lot of his life in the human world, Solomon has spent considerable time in the Devildom as well. He will tell you stories about his journey through the rings of the Underworld, though he will insist that you needn't walk through them yourself. He can teleport you to any place of interest. He's more likely to take you to hidden marketplaces and tiny magic shops. You find a plethora of cursed objects and spell books. You try to talk him out of buying you an item that makes your eyes sparkle when you look at it, but it's useless. Nothing you could say will dissuade him.
Solomon shows you places in the Devildom that you never knew existed, but he also takes you to places you may have heard about already. He sneaks you into the Demon Lord's Castle in an attempt to get past Barbatos long enough to show you the rumored torture dungeon. Once again you find yourself laughing as Solomon is promptly kicked out. You're pretty sure Barbatos pretended not to notice you for a short time because you got farther in that you expected.
Although he is no fan of the ocean, Solomon also takes you to a hidden beach within the Devildom. The water is black beneath the moon and starlight. Solomon holds your hand, keeping you close as you stand upon the shore, his eyes out far across the sea. And then, slowly, small lights appear. They begin to pop up more rapidly until the edge of the water is full of bright blue and purple lights. They glimmer gently as they ripple along the waves. Solomon tells you about a Devildom sea creature that only shows up at certain times. You're so entranced, you're barely listening. But Solomon turns you to look at him in the soft light. The way it plays in his silver hair makes your breath catch.
Solomon will take you anywhere you want to go. Just say the word and he'll make it happen, whether in the Devildom or the human world. He loves to see you full of awe and wonder, the way you look at him with delight brightening your features. As long as he can stay beside you, Solomon will go wherever you might lead him.

It's so weird to think about how Hob is one of the few immortals I can think of in fiction that I can imagine having a life when the Major Events of the Story Plot aren't happening.
Like, what does you average dramatic Anne Rice vampire do when not Living Dramatically and dealing with the Anguish of their Cursed Existence? One reason "What We Do In the Shadows" is so funny to me is because it speaks directly to what absolute pillocks these vampires would look like if they weren't brooding under the perfectly toned shadows of their lairs but actually needed to walk into a 7/11 at 2 AM. Because dramatic vampires outside of their dramatic scenes just become immediately ridiculous and their over-the-top personalities kind of begs the question, "What if they're just normal people outside of the immortality and that means, sometimes, they're idiots?"
We only see most immortal characters when something big and important is happening historically, at a royal ball, a terrible battle, or otherwise at the heart of notable events. What do they do when they're just not really feeling it some night and curl up in their pajamas at home with a book?
To Neil Gaiman's credit, two of the other immortals I can picture going about life when the Major Plot Events aren't happening are Aziraphale and Crowley, whose entire emotional journeys in Good Omens are about the fact they want the Major Plot Events they were literally created to facilitate to stop so they can go back to getting takeout together.
(Nicky and Joe from The Old Guard are another exception, for any other fellow connoisseurs out there.)
And to bring it all back to Hob, he has got to be one of the most Major Plot Events-avoiding immortals I've ever seen. The guy is the best friend of an actual supernatural cosmic entity at the center of the events of our story, one who tangles with Lucifer, stops the destruction of the world as we know it, and who has impacted the events of our world for millennia. And Hob has no idea about any of this. He doesn't even know Dream's name.
Hob is just there to meet his friend for a drink in the pub, and then he'll probably go back to his job, like his normal job he needs to live in comfort and otherwise stay busy (since he doesn't need it to survive) and in the meantime, he has friends and even family and he does stuff and stays engaged with the world but, critically, with the normal day to day world. Hob is just out there living his best life, almost completely oblivious to the world-ending catastrophes happening almost under his nose, because he's just a guy living his life with all the little ups and downs and dramas, but also with nights curled up with a book, eating takeout because you can't be bothered to cook and unlike almost every other immortal in fiction, you can just so easily picture having a normal life when the drama spigot of the Plot turns off.

Am I the "asshole" for wanting to have a body again?
Context: I was once a powerful demon, but an attempt was made to seal that demon's soul inside a cursed object. The sealing didn't completely succeed, and the demon's soul was torn to pieces, with only the part currently known as "me" ending up inside. I don't remember much about this part of my life, but as far as I can recall, I almost certainly didn't do anything to deserve it.
I (immortal, pick one) have been trapped in this object as an incorporeal spirit for so long I've lost track of time. My prison has changed hands many times, but was most recently acquired by an extremely ambitious student at a nearby magic school (13M, we'll refer to him as "K"). K all but demanded I lend my power to him and teach him some of what I knew. As I quite literally have nothing better to do, I agreed, and the arrangement has been mostly tolerable.
Except a short time after we began working together, a new student "S" (also 13M) showed up at K's school. And what did he have with him but the other part of my soul?! I don't know how he came to have it, if he's some sort of reincarnation of my original self or a distant descendant, but all that mattered was that if I could get to him, I could have a body again. It was the best opportunity I'd ever had to get my life back. So I got K to perform a ritual that switched our places and put me in his body (and before I'm called the "asshole" for that, it was supposed to be a TEMPORARY arrangement, and besides, he's the one who wants to mess with dark magic. I taught him a very valuable lesson about dealing with demons! Not that he actually learned anything from it…)
S came straight to me, but someone must've realized what was going on and put a protection charm on him. Then he beat me in a duel, and after that he just…walked away. Like he didn't have a care in the world! He hadn't come to deal with me, or even to save his classmate, no, he just wanted to steal one of my ritual components because some stranger had asked him to, otherwise I don't know if he'd have bothered showing up. I don't think he even listened to a word I said.
Needless to say, that plan didn't work out. I'm still working with K, but now both his teacher and the most powerful warlock on this side of the planet are watching me like I'm some sort of criminal. And what's worse, no one involved took me seriously, and aren't willing to so much as mention the incident. It's like it didn't even matter! I'm pretty sure even S has forgotten the whole thing, he's got a memory like a sieve for anything that isn't the scientific name for a stag beetle.
It hasn't been all that long, but it feels as if it's been decades since I've gotten to do anything. Is it so wrong for me to try and escape this pitiful existence I've been unjustly forced into? Am I going to spend the rest of eternity in here being the butt of some kind of massive cosmic joke? I really don't think I deserve to be either treated like a reprobate or outright ignored.
EDIT: THIS IS FAKE NONE OF THIS HAPPENED my device must have been stolen moderators please delete!!
EDIT 2: To everyone saying K should get rid of the demon, if any of these events had hypothetically actually happened (WHICH THEY DIDN'T), I would definitely have the situation COMPLETELY under control by now!!

Just with the same three characters, Neuvillette, Zhongli and Pierro if it's alright and thank you <3
dying by the hand of an artful man
Tumblr media
𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓 𝐓𝐖𝐎 of red flags in your relationship
feat. neuvillette, zhongli, pierro ( separately )
notes. gn reader, click on summary above for part one, honestly unsure if knowledge and context of part one will be needed ;; these are really not the best :’) i wasn’t sure how to continue the first part…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
NEUVILLETTE, always too serious, was one to continue carrying on.
Perhaps it was foolish of you to marry a man whom you knew had little to no basic understanding of human emotions—but maybe you were just too kind for even trying. Foolish for even thinking that he would attempt to learn for you, because you believed he was a man that was understanding enough.
But the cold distance felt further to you than ever, especially after you acknowledged such a displacement between his position as a husband and as a judge. In the eyes of the public, he is fierce and firm, like an unwavering flag of justice that stands his ground to bring the guilty to their downfall.
In the eyes of little ones like the Melusines, he is a good leader, one that says hello every morning like a caring father. And yet, this is the side you feel you’ve never met once in this marriage. It was as if you fell in love with Neuvillette, but married only the Chief Justice—a difference you realized too late.
“I’ll be going.” His voice was cold just the same as it was emotionless. You watched as his unwavering gaze never met yours whilst he headed out the door, wondering if it has always been this way.
“Stay safe, Monsieur.” A title that held no meaning, no love. The first time you stopped calling him names of endearment, you had hoped he noticed it. And maybe, you were a little too naive to pray for any kind of reaction. But alas, he still just nodded like it was nothing. You wondered if he loved you at all.
The Chief Justice of Fontaine, in all his stern seriousness, loving someone so emotionally deprived like you. He claimed to, at least; and at the time, you believed him. But now is when the thought crosses you like an arrow to the heart, like the Gods truly cursed you with the reminder of just how inhuman this man you called your husband truly is.
He might’ve misunderstood what love was in the first place.
Tumblr media
ZHONGLI, even more overly protective, kept you locked tight nowadays.
It wasn’t often you could stare out the open window without him being there anymore.
Since your last escape to Lantern Rite, you’ve found the front door locked with something that seemed like adepti magic, and event the windows were shut with no route of escape anymore. Too dangerous, he said. Another Osial could rise again, he always warned.
Maybe it was the fact you were human, and he lives the life of immortality. And, maybe it was the fact he was so particular in the way you aged, and your birthday being today made no exception.
“Another year older,” he smiled so gently at you. You think it made you feel sick. “Age only brings fragility,” he muttered so close to your face, “Like stone that ages with the world, until it’s ground into nothing but sand.”
And there goes his comparisons again—comparison to something more fragile than you were.
“I only wish you’d allow me to protect you more.” And then he inches closer until his lips are on yours, tasting a bitter tea you once found so lovingly sweet. But now the flavor turns to mud on your tongue, and you’re seconds away from spitting him out. He still has the touch of a dignified, refined man. Yet his demand for control over your “safety” showed you less of a husband and more of a parent.
Tomorrow night marks the next Lantern Rite; And you plan on seeing it again. If he wants to keep you locked up here, he’ll have to drag you by the ankles from the Harbor.
You did not consider that was exactly what he’d do.
Tumblr media
PIERRO, who asked if you would die for him, continued his pampering.
With what sanity you had left, you could sense it. Something big would be happening soon, and the death of The Fair Lady only amplified your fear.
“Shh, don’t cry now,” the leader of the Harbingers whispered sweetly into your ear. His voice was a low rumble, one that made you shiver more than reassured. “Look, she’s still with us,” he pointed, little fire moth resting atop his finger. You only continued to shake amidst your tears as you sat curled up on his lap. You were scared, yet your head rest on the chest of the most dangerous man, your husband.
“She died for a noble cause,” he told you. You might’ve been too shaken to realize where he was leading this to go. “For the Tsaritsa,” he continued, “and her everlasting glory and goals.”
Your tears slightly slowed down from your focus on his words; but you fear you may lay awake haunted by his voice again.
“This is how you should plan your death, too.” You tensed. “It should be meaningful, show-stopping…” When he trailed off, his large hand came up to rest against the side of your head, pulling you off his chest so he could see you. The pads of his thumbs swiped at your tear-stained cheeks in such a gentle manner that you were completely fooled by his manufactured love all over again. “…Sacrificial.”
Your face might’ve contorted to fear, because his hand shifted and tightened to clasp sharply at your jaw. “I love you, you know that?” he asked so kindly.
Yes.
Theres a low chuckle in his throat. “Then tonight, there’ll be a feast. And tomorrow, there’ll be a war.” He smiles at you now with a different kind of love. “And that’s when you can show me that you love me, too, through your glorious self sacrifice on the battlefield.”

Wild Theories About Rafayel
Spoilers under the cut.
So, I've been contemplating how the various deceptions Rafayel has experienced occured and how that connects in his story over all. He or his story references being deceived at least 3 times: in Anecdote 3, in the Myth, and in Your Fragrance.
Anecdote 3:
"The young boy sits alone in the middle of the coral reef, softly humming “Siren's Ballad.” Waves lap the shores, staining it dark red. The color blends almost seamlessly with the bloody setting sun in the distance. Those who deceived him have long since sailed away on their massive ships, laughing all the while. “Siren's Ballad” isn't a song of revenge. It's an elegy sung for Lemuria.”
Myth:
Amund: “I believe in Your Quintessence. Her method of acquiring the heart wasn’t forgotten, was it? If that island sparked the beginning of our demise, then everything should end there. The Lemurians cannot be deceived again!”
MC: “The Lemurian tales I’ve read said the God of the Sea died long ago… I’m sorry, you must refer to it as a “slumber.” How can there still be a God of the Sea?” Rafayel: “Does Your Highness know why he perished? His heart was stolen by humans.”
Your Fragrance:
“It must be an allergic reaction. This isn’t perfume. How dare they use such underhanded methods to trap me…” “Who gave you the perfume?” “Are you trying to run away again?” “I’m not going anywhere. You’re gonna lock me up again… You’re with them, I just know it. Don’t think I’m unaware of what you’re about to do. (MC name), I won’t fall for it again. Not this time.”
They all seem to be connected to you somehow, but not enough so to make him hate you or lose trust in you, as he is still willing to be incredibly vulnerable with you (Ebb and Flow), give up his life for you (Myth chapter 8-9), deeply love you, and want to be with you for the rest of his life.
So my thoughts are that MC has been used as bait against Rafayel in at least 2 lives. There seem to be events that reoccur in their different reincarnations, such as Rafayel meeting MC when they are young/children and vowing to find MC again. He gives her the blue fish, the Emissary of the Ocean, in both current and Myth lives as well.
So going with this idea of reoccurring events, I think on their first life, which I believe was the Island of Songs life, there was likely a vow made as children. But then as adults, I think there were a group of humans (or perhaps just one in particular) who decided to use her as bait to trap the God of the Sea and plunder Lemuria's riches while he was weak. She is unaware of any of this. She is offered to him as a sacrifice (think Bride of Habaek (manhwa)), essentially becomes something like a temple maiden trapped on an island. What she doesn't know is that those who sent her there are using her as a honey trap.
And it works. She and Rafayel fall in love and bind themselves to each other. Now, I haven't decided yet whether I think the humans knew he would go so far as to give her his heart or whether they just got lucky there. But the end result is, Rafayel is trapped when he is weak, Lemuria is plundered, and I believe they then go into hiding in the deep, becoming the stuff of myth and legend.
MC, meanwhile, is seen as the betrayer by the Lemurians, though not necessarily Rafayel, not completely at least. They curse her and turn her into a Sea Witch (Fragrant Dream). But eventually Rafayel finds her and saves her at the cost of his own life.
Now fast-forward to current day Rafayel. He has once again made a vow with her when they were children. And I think he is deceived by the same person/people as before, be they gods, reincarnations or some other immortal. And I think now that they are behind Ever Corp, Onychinus and related organizations. (I also like the idea that Astra from Zayne's Myth is somehow a part of all this.) So, they use MC as a lure, to draw him away from Lemuria, since even as a child, he is their protector. They once again plunder Lemuria, this time nearly wiping it out.
Meanwhile, I think they know MC has a Sea God’s heart, and were experimenting on her to find a way to use it. Hence the Aether core and what not.
Sometime in the far future, they will use what they learn from it to remake Earth into Philos, with a fake core that keeps all humanity immortal, except those sacrificed to it. Eventually, MC's immortal heart is essentially connected to the core like a battery, to drain, die, recharge the core, then be reborn to do it again. Essentially making all human life on Philos leaches off of Rafayel's immortality, draining him as well and eventually condemning him to eternal slumber if he does not reclaim it from her.

I like Rose, and I think they should have done more with the Bad Wolf event. So here's a small list of related AUs that have been rattling around in my head.
Feel free to use them for whatever, I'd love to see if you write something tho!
Becoming Bad Wolf, absorbing the Time Vortex and using its powers effects Rose beyond that one moment. Merely absorbing it long enough to expel the power was enough to cause Nine to regenerate, and Rose used its power for an extended period. Time travelling on its own is enough to change the body, the cells, the aging process. Being around enough Time Lords effects the aging process. So when you absorb the vortex into yourself, become it for an extended moment, make someone else immortal in a way no one else is, who's to say it doesn't effect you too? And when you leave with Tentoo, the human Doctor, the mortal Doctor, and you think--we're going to live together, we're going to die together. And the original Doctor thinks--this is for the best. I won't get more attached, I will lose her on my terms, they'll live what I can't have. But the Doctor ages. And Rose doesn't, whether she can regenerate, or lives in a single timeless body. Not like Jack, she can die, but her Doctor dies first. The Doctor lives the life of the Companion, and Rose lives the tragedy of the Doctor. There's no evidence of Time Lords in Pete's World. Rose and Tentoo have a child in the comics. Does her child die before her too, or does she inherit her "gift"? Does she find her way back home? Is she angry? Is she scared? Is she alone?
Or maybe she's still immortal, but she doesn't leave--either she makes it out of Doomsday in her home dimension, or she refuses to make a choice in Journey's End and insists the original Doctor keep her and Tentoo. What matters is, she's there when Ten regenerates into Eleven. She's there when the TARDIS malfunctions, and decides to crash. And through some happenstance, whether separation while the TARDIS was crashing, splitting up for one reason or another, Prisoner Zero plot devices, or simply breaking the age old rule of "don't wander off", they get separated. And the Doctor leaves for "five minutes". Rose returns to the TARDIS, or thinks she's found the TARDIS, and its not there. At best she sees it leave, or it leaves some signature behind she can track with a device from Pete's World. She knows it was there. So she waits, as Amy waits, because if a universe apart wasn't enough to break her spirit then time travel isn't either. Learns the year, gets a job, maybe goes and does her A levels like she said she wanted to do that one time. Years pass. Does she keep in touch with Amelia, the only lead she has to the Doctor? Rose says she doesn't really like children in Fear Her, but she's tolerated them before. Another strange figure in Amy's life. A connection to her "Raggedy Doctor". And almost as strange, too. Because as the years pass, the five between Doomsday and The Eleventh Hour, and the 12-14 years Amy waits, she doesn't age a day over 19/20. Did she ever get an explanation from the Doctor about Jack, in this vague extra time she's been with him? About how he left him without warning or explanation? Does Jack tell her? Does she worry he left her too? As the days pass, does she worry that he could sense what she was becoming, and abandoned her like he abandoned him? Or did she never know, not even have that context, left hoping that the doctor would one day come back until she has to accept that this time, this might be it. Left to deal with this curse on her own. She was worried Ten would leave her when he got that face. Maybe Eleven did. ...and of course, Eleven returns, none the wiser, and Rose's face only "confirms" he'd barely been gone at all! Nothing to worry about! Right?

One thing I don't think is mentioned enough is the fact that during the journey, a lot of Celestials took the opportunity to just... outright FUCK around with Wukong. Like, they'd send all sorts of demons their way intentionally just to intervene and say "Oh hey! You found my favorite pet!" Even Guanyin hadn't been innocent of this considering she had this huge fit over her pet goldfish. And if they weren't using their pets they were finding other methods to delay or otherwise force the Pilgrims off the beaten path and into danger out of some sort of test, spite, or pettiness.
Now, think about how in the both JTTW and Slow Boiled au Wukond actually was pregnant or not during the journey, and in Century au, the Heavenly Court BELIEVE he was pregnant. So imagine how those guys feel after they decided to fuck with Wukong put of spite and found out they unknowingly were stressing a pregnant monkey out!?
Yeah! Characters like Gold Star hide their identities to aid the main characters, while some are just... doing it for fun? Are they LARP-ing? And Monkey has Gold-Vision; why does he always not recognise these people even from his Celestial days?
Guanyin set up a whole honey trap knowing that half the squad ain't into it, and dropped the gang on their way home cus they missed 1 story event. The abbey with the Ginseng tree were pretty rude af. The Buddha's own servants tried to fleece the gang of the scriptures. Multiple kingdoms suffered cus King Who-Care shot somebody's bird-cousin, or knocked over a table of offerings. And the 28 Lunar Mansions took almost 13 years to realise that the Wood Wolf was missing.
Lao Tzu's lab assisants literally run off with his stuff and become demon lords for lulz (or they were the assisants that let the Rhino King/Buffalo out and were scared that they'd get in trouble). And lets not forget RHINO KING. Bruh, you somehow lost track of a gotdang celestial Bull-Rhino!?
Guanyin's not immune from this; TWO of her pets became horrific demons (Goldfish and Sai Taisui) and are arguably the most irredeemable of all the villains faced.
Lady Earth Flow/Albino Rat/Bat spirit is even described as Li Jing's adoptive daughter - how the f that happen?? How did he lose track of a whole kid so bad that she became a vampire-esque demon?
Manjusri let their cat (Azure Lion) out TWICE. And they cursed the Wuji kingdom for tossing them in a sewer for preeching.
After a point, I'd imagine Wukong in the stone egg aus would just throw his hands up and start yelling at the gods directly. He's even bolder in the Jttw Stone Egged au given that he has Macaque as back-up.
You know that chapter where Rhino King steals all of the Heavenly Army's powers and weapons, and the immortals are all infighting so hard that Wukong has to be the voice of reason?
Imagine a tiny hormonal monkey just going nuts at these gods. He's screaming in their faces. He's demanding Nezha lift him up so he can look General Li Jing in the eye. He's telling them what good are they as fighters if they only feel safe with their weapons and powers? Wukong has a *damn* good reason he ain't taking on Rhino King in a 1-v-1 rn, whats all these gods excuse?!
The gods are too surprised and intimidated to argue back. And you better believe a certain alchemist is getting a smack for letting a whole animal loose from his lab.

About Goultard's Dissociative Identity Disorder
This post is a collection of thoughts, analysis, wild extrapolating, reading too much into small details, and pure speculation. Please forgive how messy this is, this whole post might be uncomprehensible.
Some things Goultard says about the system
- he created it to make immortality bearable
I truly dont believe he means he consciously created his alters. He can hardly control them. They were a creation of his mind as a means of coping with / surviving the various traumas he faced throughout his life.
- it's a curse given by his father
Either the "curse" he speaks of is immortality itself, or he holds his father and god responsible for what he's had to go through (without him ever protecting or saving him)
The Alters
Goultard : Apparently Normal Part, Host. He's aware of the system. But sometimes partially forgets about it and how it functions.
I assume he has pretty unreliable memory. Sometimes forgets where he is, how he got there, what he was supposed to do, he can forget about things that happened or that he did etc...
Classic dissociation + can enter a kind of hibernation/complete dormancy and sleep for weeks, months, years, when needed or out of boredom.
Vlad : Emotional Part. Formerly unaware of the system, now aware of it (or at least aware of goultard being the host) embodies anger, exteriorizes unresolved rage and resentment by violently lashing out until the body has calmed down.
Somewhat naturally takes a protective role without really meaning to, taking control when certain emotions become too much to bear for the host, redirecting the violence outward instead of inwards.
First fronting triggered by Algathe's death.
Vald : Between Fragment and Apparently Normal Part. Not aware of the system. Too little experience and time fronting to pass as a fully formed individual (but people usually assume he's just stupid). In a way, his role IS to be too stupid to feel sadness, or anything much. But could develop into a real ANP if given the chance.
Born out of a desire for numbness. Possibly related to missing the crimson dofus after it was taken away from the system?? The whole system seems very attached to the crimson dofus, yearning for its warmth, letting its power consume them from the inside out.
How they form
Vlad and Vald didnt suddenly appear because of a single event each triggering them into existence. Rather they formed slowly and over extended periods of time from more or less specific needs, locked away in the confines of the mind before being awakened and forced to front by a triggering event causing a switch.
The underlying cause of the disorder being the hundreds of years spent inhabitated by a symbiotic shushu, manipulating his emotions and sense of self, slowly fracturing it over time.
Other Alters ?
There could potentially be more alters staying in hiding, unbeknownst to Goultard (and the rest of the system)
The differences between the way goultard acts in dofus and in wakfu, specifically emotionally, could imply a split happened between dofus and wakfu. A new identity that hasnt fronted yet would have taken these aspects that the host no longer has.
Most probably caused by losing arty, goultard's love for him was what freed him from the demon after all.
Goultard now hides in order to cry, when he used to feel no shame crying nuzzled in Arty's arms.
This would have been exacerbated by Goultard being put into a role of mentor and caregiver to Tristepin, worsening his emotional repression (that a new emotional part could have formed to embody instead).
Tristepin being the reincarnation of his father, whom he has conflicted feelings about, and having his children brutally murdered in the past, explain why he'd want/need to keep him at a distance, wanting him to not think of him as family, only as his mentor/master.
Edit : I forgot to mention his habit of self-isolation, just imagine I did

Vassien & Swan Lake retelling
Tumblr media
Art by : jemlin_c
_The young Prince Siegfried was informed by his mother that she'll organise a ball to find a princes worthy to be his wife.but he didn't like the idea that his future wife will be imposed on him.
"His mate. She was nothing like Jesminda... She’d seen him not as a High Lord’s seventh son, but as a male. Had loved him without question, without hesitation. She had chosen him. Elain had been … thrown at him."
>Siegfried was forced by his mother to marry a princess from the ball. Elain was chosen for Lucien through the cauldron; they didn't choose each other
_When Siegfried was going to a lake to hunt, he saw a magnificent flock of swans, one of them transformed into a beautiful woman, queen of the swans, her name was odette, Siegfried approached her and promised that he will not harm her, she revealed to him that she and other maidens have been placed under a spell by the sorcerer Von Rothbart. By day, they are transformed into swans, and only at night do they regain their human form.
"Especially not with Lucien on the continent, hunting that enchanted queen. A bird of flame … and a lord of fire. I wondered if they’d found each other yet."
>Siegfried went hunting when he met Odette, Lucien went on a mission to hunt Vassa.
+
"Elain’s throat bobbed. “He keeps them all at the lake.” --“Other women like her?” _“Yes—and no. Their feathers are white as snow. They glide across the water—while she rages through the skies above it."
>In the tale, there were other maidens cursed into swans, and Elain said that there are other women also transformed.
_The spell can only be broken by true love. The prince fell in love with her. He vowed to break the spell and remain faithful to her.The sorcerer tricked Siegfried by disguising his daughter, Odile, as Odette. He promised himself to her, which broke the vow he made to Odette.
_In most versions of the tale, the story has a tragic ending. However, in the happy ending version, Siegfried ripped off Von Rothbart’s wings, stripped him of his power, and broke the curse. Then, he happily married Odette.
"Lucien stared out the window as if he could see the lake across the sea and a continent. As if he were sitting his target."
>Foreshadowing of Lucien facing Koschei 🤷🏻‍♀️
+
Breaking a curse through the power of love, sounds like something Sarah would do.
_Elain and Azriel =Blodeuwedd and sleeping beauty retelling = Elain saving Azriel through the power of Love.
_Vassa and Lucien =Vasilisa, firebird and swan lake retelling =Lucien breaking Vassa's curse through the power of love.
It would be a great parallel 🤷🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In an interview after the publication of ACOWAR, Sarah said that the future couples are based on events before and after ACOWAR, and she mentioned that she likes 'Vasilisa the Beautiful' and the 'Swan Lake' tale.
In ACOWAR,ACOFAS, ACOSF, the building up of Elriel was quite obvious, but there was also a slow burn development for Vassien. We know that Sarah loves slow burns:
"yes—queen by night, firebird by day.” He blew out a breath. “Nasty curse.” --“The human queens are still out there,” I said. Maybe I’d hunt them down. --“Not for long—not if Vassa has anything to do with it.” --“You sound like an acolyte.” Lucien blushed".
"Even with Elain here, he's become close with Jurian and Vassa. He's voluntarily living with them these days, and not just as an emissary. As their friend."
"A twitch of the lips, a spark in that russet eye. “She’s doing well enough. Savoring every second of her temporary freedom.”
"Nesta said, “And Jurian and Vassa?” “At each other’s throats, as they like to be,” he said, a tad sharply. She wondered what that was about—and for the life of her couldn’t read it."
But Vassa is mortal and Lucien is immortal 🗣️
>Feyre, Nesta, and Elain were mortal, and now they're immortal🤷🏻‍♀️
So yes, based on all this I think Vassa and Lucien will get a book after Elain's book.

What if ZA...was a movie. Or a book?? (note: this is just pure indulgent thought lol)
I don't think we will be going all the way in the ancient past (paris redevelopment happens in the 19th century) in Z-A, but hopefully there would be key references to them (i mentioned in a post about the idea of zygarde core and activating memories of certain locations like in TOTK since they are the “eyes” that monitor the land)
I'm really curious about the potential dynamics between AZ and the legends; I hc that Zygarde had kept tabs on AZ without taking action for it knew he had tasted his own medicine and karma - the curse of immortality after firing the ultimate weapon. Or alternatively, it made a deal with AZ that it will do nothing to him and instead, he is to wander the world, observe its events and restore the ecosystem along the way, etc. I think AZ won't be a major player in the story, but will be an important side character nonetheless. Here's also the art without the title:

Gave my unicorn Tav, Iluatria (Lua for short), an update. I'm a The Last Unicorn hoe.
Her lore:
Lua was a unicorn who lived on the coast before an old dying wizard made a deal with a sea hag to capture her so he could force her into healing him and giving him more life.
He went to the local sea hag and had her help him capture and transform Lua (wild unicorns are notoriously difficult to capture otherwise). It worked obviously, but he betrayed the hag and killed her (who cursed him to be killed by his own folly soon enough, aka Lua).
He basically had her captured Calliope style in the Sandman, trying to persuade/intimidate/force her to give him power but she refused because it’s not something that can be taken. He gets drunk one night and tries to take it by force (by sawing her horn off which would kill her) and she instead impales him with her horn.
She then returns to where her sisters and brothers are like “hey, help me turn back” but then they said they can’t and that’s when Selûne is like “actually I’m going to need you to investigate Moonrise/the Absolute cult that’s forming and then I can turn you back”, so then Lua is forced to investigate which is then when she gets captured and tadpoled.
Since the gods were already sending their clerics and agents to check out what’s happening, Selûne would be like “actually this works in our favor for a bit” and is taking advantage of the situation.
I imagine Lua got nerfed a bit when she was transformed, then the tadpole nerfed her the rest of the way.
She knows she’s a unicorn (horn makes it obvious) but her memories of her life as a unicorn are starting to fade and the more connections she makes in her new form, the more she loses her old self. I’m using it as a form of meta too, since Tav is such a blank slate and feels like they didn’t exist before the events of the game, this is my meta of her literally being a new person.
She’s old, like older than Raphael old, but since I’m stealing so much from TLU, to quote Prince Lir, “she has a newness”.
She was a unicorn under the service of Selûne specifically, and she helped guide sailors and lost souls home along the coast. Keeping with the sea and navigation themes.
She’s not only trying to remove the tadpole but also trying to return to form before she “loses herself” forever. But of course she makes connections and once she and Astarion fall for each other, it’s when she has to make a decision. His spawn route is him deciding to try living again with his old self dead and buried, and with her it’ll be deciding to let her old self die as well.
She doesn't get on with Gale at first because she thinks wizards are selfish and power hungry but over time they become friends and they have interesting discussions around magic.
Right now her goal is “yes, I want to go back, this form is unnatural and torture” but she’ll start to develop an independent sense of self that starts to overtake her old self.
She’ll always have natural grace and beauty, but that ethereal otherworldliness will disappear over time.
While she's in this form she can feel her immortality and old self fade and it horrifies her but once she falls in love with Astarion she eventually comes to accept her new life. My end goal is at the end of the game, she chooses to use what's left of her powerful unicorn healing magic to cure Astarion of his vampirism. Her horn disappears and she's made fully mortal (as an elf) and they live their new lives together.
It's a cheesy idea but Selûne takes their souls (since Corellon won’t have him), and then they get reincarnated as unicorns. They’re essentially new people again, the way reborn souls are, but they find each other again and mate for life once more. And now he gets to be a unicorn; wild beauty, grace, and never again tamed too.
It’s super romantic and cheesy but sometimes I be a sucker for that.
And I do like the idea that Astarion, (who he himself and most people see as used, dirty, and corrupted), is actually seen as worthy enough and loved by a being in universe as pure as they come. And there’s an innocence in his passion for life that would attract her.

Even if plot-wise - and logically speaking - the transformation was the only viable option for the group to move forward into the story, it still is an incredibly anguishing moment for the unicorn/Amalthea. She is understandably dreading her new form and her now impending mortality, which she feels and fears. Schmendrick however acts weirdly dismissive, defensive, almost annoyed when Molly and Amalthea express their horror at what he has done. He is boasting about having done true magic, while stating at the same time that he had no control over it. In the book, he tries to offer Amalthea his point of view as a mortal turned immortal, as if he is trying to condone what he has done masking it as a sort of favour.
Tumblr media
Upon my first reading, it flew over my head. Book-Schmendrick is more mean-spirited than his movie counterpart (justifyably so, since keeping the same personality for movie-Schmendrick without book-Schmendrick's backstory would have made him an unapologetic jerk) but his reactions and his excuses did sound a bit off. Further readings and reflecting between the lines made me think that Schmendrick (at least book-Schmendrick) is essentially trying to normalize trauma.
He has done to the unicorn - in reverse - what Nikos has done to him. Schmendrick was a mortal man who had been turned immortal. The unicorn has previously expressed her contempt to the story of Nikos turning another unicorn into a mortal man, stating that he might as well have trapped the creature into a burning building. Still, what Nikos did to Schmendrick, as well-meaning it could have been, was no better at all. Aside from being an incompetent immortal, trying and failing endlessly, Schmendrick has zero chances for connections and relationships. If he is doomed to stay immortal, he is doomed to be alone, to see people around him grow old and die while he remains a bumbling young man forever. Just as the unicorn is not supposed to be mortal, Schmendrick was not supposed to be immortal.
When he tells Amalthea his story, he is curt and to the point, telling Nikos' speech word for word. His dry way of talking contrast with the visceral response of Amalthea. From "Schmendrick Alone", the novellette about Schmendrick leaving Nikos to begin his solo journey, the reader learns that Schmendrick seems to not be right away aware of his curse. Unlike the unicorn, his must have been a slow, painful realization and hell knows what he must have felt when he has fully understood its implications.
Tumblr media
After his self-congratulatory speech, Schmendrick shows signs that he, on an emotional level, has grasped how much he has fucked up. Still he refuses to admit so. Acknowledging it entails acknowledging how Nikos has fucked up, how his master has screwed his life under the pretension of giving Schmendrick the possibility to come into his full power. That is not feasible for Schmendrick, so he comes up with excuses, justifying his act with good intentions. Most interestingly, he shifts responsibility on magic itself, claiming he has not control over it. I don't know how magic exactly works in TLU universe, but it seems to have ties with the subconscious of those who employ it. Schmendrick had no control when Nikos cursed him, now he is in control by lacking control. Sounds weird? Then why, of every creature possible - and Schmendrick himself quips about it in the book - was the unicorn turned into a mortal woman?
Tumblr media
Schmendrick's arc in the story does not end when he comes into his full power, but when he acknowledges what he has done to the unicorn, expressing his regret and taking full accountability. Schmendrick's apology to the unicorn is the moment were the trauma-cycle is broken. He has come to terms with his own traumatic event, has accepted it, and is aware that he cannot do anything about it. He - and the unicorn - can only move forward; they are now again what they were meant to be, with additional awareness and knowledge.

fifteen with mammon! maybe breakup angst with mc breaking things off :))
"please don't go."
please don't do this. please stop saying the things you're saying. mammon can't handle you leaving him. not now. not after everything you'd been through.
same old argument. same sentiment you'd repeated over the years. you'd aged by his side, your youth slipping away from you with each year while he remained untouched by the passage of time. you'd always been verbal about your lifespan, a gain of sand in comparison to the vast desert of his own, and yet he'd always pushed the conversation away as it started.
he was scared. scared to lose you, scared to face the idea that there could be a day when he'd look into the crook of his arm where he held you to find the space empty. maybe this was the fear that lilith felt when facing her own lover's mortality. maybe this was the feeling that started the celestial war. fear. fear of loss. all over a human.
please.
"i can't watch you do this to yourself." your voice cracks as tears begin to take hold. mammon can't bring himself to move to your side.
"we can make it work. i don't-- i don't care about that future stuff. i want to be here, now, with you. nobody else."
"i can't even live to see all of our plans through. that's not fair to you. and i think you know that." you sniffle and dig your fingers into your tearducts to stop yourself from crying. "you deserve better."
"I don't want better," mammon insists. "i want you, damnit! we can-- we can find a way to make ya immortal like solomon, or-- or--"
"we've been over this. mammon, i don't want to be immortal."
silence echoed through his bedroom. your words felt like a knife to the chest, each added argument twisting the knife further until he felt weak. his chest was caving in on him with each panicked breath. he can do nothing but listen while you continue, silent tears blurring his vision until you're nothing but a familiar blob of colors.
"i have a family. friends. other humans i love. and humans aren't supposed to live forever. i can't... i can't handle that. i can't handle watching every human i care about die. i... i want normal."
you wipe your cheeks with the sleeves of your sweatshirt and step toward him. you gather the demon in your arms and he lets you. mammon is weak. he knows this kindness from you will do nothing but paralyze him in this moment-- one of the most painful moments of his life-- but he can't help it. he wraps his arms around your waist and buries his face in your chest.
"i love you." you whisper. "i love you more than anything. but i can't put you through that sort of heartbreak. you deserve a love that will last your whole life. not just something that disappears in the blink of an eye."
mammon had never before cursed the circumstances of his creation. he resented angelhood for a lot of things-- the loss of his sister, mainly-- and demonhood a few less. but never did he think that he would be cursing his very existence in either realm. maybe if he had been born human, he could be with you. maybe if he had been born human, he could have found you somehow, started a life with you, grown old by your side. he couldn't imagine it now, but if he could, in this moment, he'd throw away his whole life for a chance to be what you wanted.
but he can't. so instead, mammon holds you in his arms, and he prays. prays that maybe somehow, someway, you'll find your way back to his side.
until then, all mammon can do is to silently hope you change your mind.

Chapter Ten: Blue Iris
Jason woke up in his apartment and struggled to remember the most recent events of that night. His hands shook so violently he thought he'd died again, but his body didn't hurt. It couldn't have been death. The last thing he could remember was the sunset, but it was pitch black now. He finished cleaning the apartment and scrubbing it of any evidence of his existence before returning to the one place he could never imagine wanting to see. His old apartment. He climbed up the fire escape to the window and peeked inside. The apartment was empty, save a few candles and what appeared to be a vigil. He wondered who it was for. There were no pictures, just a few votive candles, flowers, and old beat-up shoes. It was when Jason noticed the sneakers that he put two-and-two together. They were his shoes. That was his memorial.
His head spun as he fled the area. Tears poured down Jason's face as he remembered how hopeless he felt the last time he was home. He remembered how he lay on the mattress on the floor, talking to Catherine, thinking that he'd join her and the noise of the world and all its sufferings would end. He remembered the dull ache in his chest as he slipped away.
That pain was cardiac arrest. Jason knew that now. Still, physical pain had a foreseeable end. Emotional pain persisted. It found new ways to puncture and bruise. As he ran blindly from the scene of his memorial, he ran into the street. He despised Gotham. The sound of car horns and cursing commuters pulled him back, and he made his way down an alley and up to the roof of one of the buildings in Gotham. He swallowed hard as he sat atop the industrial building, smoke in his eyes, hair, and lungs as he cried. "What do you want?" Jason wept.
"To talk... You okay?" a man's voice asked. Jason shook his head. "You've got good ears if you heard me coming."
Jason pulled his hood up over his head. He didn't want to be seen, but he wanted to look at the face of the man speaking to him. The man had a gymnast's build, and he was masked. A vigilante. "Who are you?" Jason asked.
"Nightwing," the man whispered, "I needed a new start a few years ago." Jason nodded.
"I had a new start too, but it doesn't make it any easier. Returning to Gotham is like returning to the scene of a crime," Jason muttered. Nightwing sat next to Jason on the ledge. "I haven't spoken to anybody since I've been back."
"Visiting?" Nightwing questioned. Jason shook his head.
"Working... Family business," Jason replied.
"Did something happen to you here?" Dick questioned.
"You could say that yeah... Wait. You needed a new start... You're Robin," Jason whispered. He would've been starstruck a few years ago, but he wasn't a child. Or at least he didn't feel like one anymore. "I dreamt about being you when I was a kid..."
"You are a kid," Nightwing whispered.
Jason drove his fist into the stone ledge, bruising his knuckles. "I'm not a child! I haven't been a child in years!" Jason yelled. Nightwing held out his hands to calm Jason.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything by that," Nightwing whispered, "Can I see your hand?"
"It's not broken," Jason muttered, "And I know you didn't mean anything by it... I just-. I want to stop feeling like this, but the more I try to make the pain disappear, the worse it gets."
"Maybe you need to talk about it," Nightwing suggested. Jason shrugged and shook his head.
"No... I need to get away from here. I've gotta tough it out a few more days until I can go home," Jason whispered, "But I don't mind the company." Nightwing smiled.
They sat together until sunrise, and Jason whispered about finishing his work. He watched as Nightwing exited, and he disappeared into the alley. Speaking to another living person soothed him enough to help him collect his things. When he arrived back at the apartment, there were EMTs and police everywhere. A hand slipped off a covered stretcher, and Jason recognized the watch. Garzonas. Jason's lips twitched into a smile, and he went on to the hotel. He carried his gear out of the hotel and tipped the staff for their hospitality.
Once he got back to the apartment, the police and EMTs cleared out, allowing Jason to go back to his apartment. He took his bags and paid off the landlord on his way out. Then Jason went to the store. He'd be on his own in the wilderness outside Gotham for five more days. Jason bought some camping supplies and took a cab halfway to the location, choosing to walk the rest of the way. He hiked up a hill into a wooded area near the pickup site and made camp. There was a nearby stream where he washed up, and as the sunlight bounced off his skin, he remembered his training.
He remembered the feeling of the ocean on his skin back on the island and how he and Damian used to swim in the warm waters. Sometimes they'd lie in the sand, drying off in the sun. That was home. No memorials, no graves, and no smog. He couldn't wait to return there. Thoughts of his home gave him solace after a tumultuous five days, and it proved to be just enough comfort to get him through the next five. The jet arrived at three in the morning, and Jason awoke just in time to meet eyes with Talia. She stood at the bottom of the steps, waiting for him. "Mama," Jason whispered.
They ran toward each other and embraced one another. "Washatiini," Jason whispered. Talia squeezed his face in her palms.
"I missed you too, my darling... Why are you crying?" Talia questioned as she ran her thumbs against his cheeks. "Jason..." He hugged her a second time, but he refused to let go.
"I want to go home," Jason whimpered. Talia kissed the top of his head. "Mama, I'm so tired..."
"Come along," Talia whispered as she led him into the jet, and he took his seat. "I'm glad you kept your promise."
"Thank you for coming to get me, Mama," Jason whispered as he closed his eyes. She felt his forehead with the back of her hand.
"You're warm," Talia whispered. He'd already fallen asleep. Talia had someone bring him a blanket shortly before they took off. She tucked the blanket in around him before buckling his safety belt. When the plane took off, Jason's eyes shot open, and Talia placed a hand on his chest to steady him. "It's going to be alright, sweet boy. We're going home." Jason mouthed the word to himself before sinking back into his seat.
"Mama, how is Di?" Jason asked.
"He asks about you every day... He'll be so surprised to see you," Talia whispered. Jason smiled.
"I missed him so much," Jason whispered, "And Ra's... Is he-."
"Impressed with how quickly you've completed your mission... Jason, he's not upset with you for killing Garzonas's son," Talia whispered. Jason shook his head.
"I didn't-. Did I? How do you know he's dead?" Jason asked.
Talia knit her brows together. "Mama, I-. If I did, I don't remember. I promise I'm not lying-."
"Jason, you told us what you did. You called the other number. You don't remember?" Talia asked. Jason shook his head, and she gently parted his thick curls with her fingers as she looked for any scarring or bruises. She felt the side of his head, and he winced. "Turn toward me, little one." Jason obeyed, and she had him lay his head against the seat. Talia parted his hair to reveal a bruise around slightly broken skin. "Does this hurt?" Talia questioned as she pressed her fingers around the bruise. He grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
"Mama, I-."
"It's alright, shǎ zhū," Talia whispered as she kissed his forehead. "When we get home, we'll have your head looked at." Talia held her palm to his cheek, and he leaned into her hand. It was warm and familiar. Finally, there was light again.
