country/city boy javid for @the-woild-is-y-erster :3
i took some creative liberties and made it a college au bc i can. i think it still works. plus for some reason i was imagining uksies javid but u can imagine whatever ver u want
anyhoo i’m also still in high school so just assume i barely know shit abt how college actually works
so. yeah enjoy
david sat on his bed, staring at the wall and picking at his nails nervously. his roommate was supposed to be here around twenty minutes ago, and his phone battery had run out waiting. he glanced around the room, looking for something to do. he could explore the dorm building, but he wanted to be here when his randomly selected roommate came in.
almost all of his books were downloaded on his phone, which at the moment was in the middle of the room, charging painstakingly slowly.
david sighed and stood up, cracking his back with his palms. fine, you know what, i’m just going to walk around a little bit, it can’t hurt. right when he was about to open the door, it slammed open, and a flustered-looking boy stood in its place.
the newcomer jumped backwards, shocked, before sighing and relaxing a little. “damn, you scared the crap outta me,” he chuckled, shaking his head.
“…sorry,” david managed after a pause, stepping aside so the other boy could get inside.
“s’alright. i’m jack, by the way.” the boy- jack- edged his way into the dorm, bringing his suitcase along with him.
“david.” david was a little overwhelmed by all this- not completely because of how rushed his new roommate seemed- and somehow, was still twenty minutes late- but because of how downright gorgeous he was. dark hair, brown eyes, shorter than david by a decently large amount-
“nice ta meetcha, davey.” jack’s voice interrupted david’s thoughts, and in turn reminded him to stop being so gay for once.
wait- ‘davey?’ where’d he get that from?
there was a few minutes of silence as jack started unpacking.
“where ya from, then? ‘round here?” jack asked finally from over his shoulder.
“manhattan,” david hummed, barely paying attention. “so- i mean- yeah, around here.”
jack whistled, starting to fill the drawers on his side of the room.
“is that news?” david asked, flopping down on his bed.
“is to me. i’m from new mexico.”
“long flight,” david replied, his voice betraying his surprise. then again, he had assumed jack lived far away- his voice had a hint of a southern accent, and david didn’t think he would’ve been so late if he lived right down the road.
“yeah. s’alright, jus’ a little jetlagged. i drove, actually.” jack turned and shot a bright smile over at david, whose face flushed at just the small gesture. he hoped to god jack didn’t notice.
“this is my first time ever leavin’ the south. what’s it like in new york?” jack turned back to his suitcase and finished up filling the drawers, turning instead to his bed.
“uh. loud,” david answered weakly. “busy. can you see the stars in the south?” he asked, flipping over to face jack and hanging his head off the side of the mattress so he was upside down.
jack nodded. “all the time. millions of ‘em, pretty much anywhere there’s sky- ‘cept for the small city here an’ there.” he sat down on his newly made bed and snorted at david’s new position. “why’re you layin’ like that?” he asked, snickering.
a light blush crept onto david’s cheeks, his brow furrowing, “is it bothering you somehow?” he mumbled.
“naw, it’s fine, just funny.” jack laughed, laying back on his bed. “you’re turnin’ so red-all the blood rushin’ to ya head.”
that’s not why, david thought, but bit his tongue and tried to change the subject. “what’re you majoring in?” he settled on asking.
     “art,” jack said simply, “you?”
“computer science,” david answered, sitting up on the bed- his head actually was starting to hurt now.
“huh. what’s that involve?” jack asked, his voice curious.
“uh- coding, design, little bit of engineering, a pretty good bit of math…”
jack groaned. “i hate math. that was the only class i failed in high school.” his tone made david think it wasn’t the only class.
“how old are you?” he wanted to slap himself for asking. but per his overly nosy nature, he had to know.
“‘re you suggestin’ i got held back?” jack lifted his head and glared daggers in david’s general direction. “because i did,” he finished after a moment of david stressing and trying desperately to figure out what to say. jack burst out laughing, david staring at him, dumbfounded. “i’m 19,” he added when he finally pulled himself together.
“an old man, i see.” david fought a smile.
“what are you, 11?” jack let out another beautiful laugh- not that david thought he was beautiful or anything. “c’mon, you gotta be at least 18.”
“i am. you’re gonna be 20 this year though, right? so, you’re old.” david shot jack a shit-eating grin as he finished.
“shut up,” jack grumbled, waving david off. “he crack i heard goin’ down the hallway was probably your back or somethin’.”
david’s eyes widened. “you heard that??” he near shouted.
jack doubled over laughing, grabbing the headboard of his bed to keep from falling off. “that- that was your back, wasn’t it!?”
“of course it was my back!” david’s jaw was on the floor, and his face was turning a darker red by the second.
jack wiped tears from his eyes, still laughing.
a smile crept onto david’s face as he stared gazed civilly and heterosexually at the other boy, his face beginning to get red for an entirely different reason. with a roomate this gorgeou- enthusiastic, maybe this year is looking up.
I HOPE U ENJOYED 🙏🙏🙏 just know i will almost always accept writing requests so ,,, yk if ya want,,,
it kinda ended weirdly but. yeah

Hello can i request a scenarios for Kuroo, Oikawa, Bokuto who is dating with top volleyball player and when they tell it to the team, they just laugh or called him delulu but one day his fem!s/o shows up and the rest of team are like *shocked pikachu face*
Yessss bb!! This is a really cute request :)
Kuroo
With Kuroo I think he’s going to mention you so much that his team thinks he’s making you up to sound cool
He’s always bailing on hangouts bc “I’m hanging out with my girlfriend today.”
“Sorry, can't come to the study group because im studying with my girlfriend.”
“Me and my girlfriend went to this really good place the other day-”
Until finally his team decides to call him on it
“Oh let me guess,” Yaku says. “She goes to a different school?”
“Yeah, how’d you know?” Kuroo blinks
Even Kenma’s laughing now. “What’s her name then?”
“Y/n Y/ln, she plays volleyball too,” Kuroo grins.
“THE Y/N Y/L/N?!” Yamamoto yells. “Now I really don't believe you.”
“Who’s that?” Lev asks, looking around.
“She’s the top ace in the women’s division,” Yaku answers, squinting at Kuroo.
“And, super hot,” Yamamoto sighs. “I want her to spike a ball directly into my face.”
“I am never bringing her here,” Kuroo decides, watching Yamamoto practically drool.
“That’s convenient,” Kenma mutters under his breath, running away before Kuroo can make him practice more serves.
“Ah, Tetsu-chan!” You wave energetically from across the gym. “Did you just finish your game?”
Kuroo catches you easily when you jump at him to hug him, hefting you up so you can wrap your legs around his waist. He sets you down after a moment, taking in your flushed appearance and uniform.
“Yeah, did you?”
“Yes!” You’re practically bouncing. “We won! We’re going to semi-finals!”
“That’s my girl,” Kuroo grins, accepting your high five. “Us too.”
You wrap him up in another excited hug, rambling about your spikes from your game until someone clears their throat.
“Uh, Kuroo?” Lev asks, poking his shoulder.
“Oh, Lev,” Kuroo steps to the side. “This is my girlfriend, Y/n Y/ln.”
“Hi, nice to meet you,” you beam, shaking his hand eagerly.
Lev stammers out some sort of greeting before backing off and running to get Yaku.
“That was weird,” you blink. “Is he always like that?”
Kuroo is smirking mischievously. “Just about.”
“Kuroo! You were being serious?” Yaku stomps over. “Why didn’t you say?”
“I did. Repeatedly,” Kuroo snickers. “But you all said I was lying because she goes to a different school and is out of my league.”
“I mean, she is,” Yamamoto scoffs honestly, stepping forward to shake your hand. “Hi Y/ln-san, I’m a big fan.”
“Back off, you pervert,” Kuroo growls good-naturedly.
After meeting the rest of his dumbstruck team Kuroo drags you down the street to a small cafe for some postgame food.
“So, I’m out of your league, hm?” You ask, nudging Kuroo’s foot under the table.
“Uh, yeah,” Kuroo says. “Was that not obvious?”
Oikawa
After his last less than pleasant relationship he decides to keep you on the DL for a little longer than he usually would
So when he tells Iwaizumi who he’s dating, the guy can’t help his loud laughter
“Yeah, right Oikawa. I get you’re a hit with the ladies but I don’t believe that for second!”
He’s laughing so hard the rest of the team is starting to notice and wander over
“What’d Oikawa say that’s so funny?” Mattsun asks
Iwaizumi straightens up, wiping his eyes while still chuckling
“That he’s dating Y/n Y/ln,” he manages to get out before he doubles over again “And has been for the last few months.”
“Y/n Y/ln as in the number one libero in the women’s division?”
“Yes” Oikawa crosses his arms.
Oikawa glares at Iwaizumi, his expression growing increasingly offended when the rest of his team joins in with Iwa-Chan’s boisterous laughter
“Why would I lie about this? You guys are being mean!”
“I guess we have to start calling you Lyingkawa instead of Stupidkawa,” Iwaizumi wheezes,
Oikawa huffs, “Get back to practicing your spikes before I make you all run a mile.”
Is this the right gym? You look at Oikawa’s text again. He’d sent you his address just in case his practice ran a little late and this did seem like the right place. You peak through the window, grinning when you spot him.
Deciding it’s best not to distract him, you slide into the gym quietly and settle in a chair next to the door.
“Oh, are you looking someone?” One of the players asks.
“I’m okay, just waiting for Oikawa to finish up,” you replyr.
The spiky-haired man nods and then freezes, eyes growing wide. “Oikawa- hold on. Y/ln?”
“Erm, yes,” you smile. “Iwaizumi, right? Oikawa talks about you constantly. It’s always ‘mean Iwa-chan did this’ or “Iwa-chan hit me with a volleyball!” Iwaizumi flushes. “I’m sorry, I didn't think he was being serious when he said you were his girlfriend.”
“Y/n-chan!” Oikawa runs across the gym. “You’re early!”
“No, Tooru, you're running late,” you correct him with a knowing smile, standing up to kiss his cheek.
Oikawa blinks and checks the time, face falling when he sees the time. “I didn't realize.”
“Don’t worry, love, I was expecting it,” you laugh softly.
The rest of his team has walked over during the exchange and were currently exchanging varying expressions of shock and confusion.
“Oh, I’ll introduce you,” Oikawa beams, taking your hand. “Team, this is Y/n Y/ln. My lovely girlfriend!”
You wave, an easy-going smile on your face. After all, Oikawa talked about them so much it felt like you already knew them. “Nice to meet you guys.”
“You’re actually his girlfriend?” A light haired boy asks.
“Makki,” Oikawa scolds. “Don’t be rude.”
“I take it Tooru hasn't mentioned me,” you laugh, shouldering your boyfriend with feigned offense.
“No he has, we just didn't believe him.” Mattsun admits, rubbing the back of his neck.
Oikawa shoos them away after that, insisting he has places to be.
“So,” you hum, now at the ramen shop. “Care to tell me why no one believed I was your girlfriend.”
Oikawa snorts. “Because they think, and I’m dead serious, that you're too cool for me. Being the number one libero and all that.”
“Well, at least they were right about that,” you sigh.
“Not you too!” Oikawa pouts.
Bokuto
Now like Kuroo he talks about you to the team except even more. He is constantly gushing about you and how you both play volleyball and how talented you are
The only reason his team doesn’t believe him is because they can't imagine someone other than Akaashi being able to handle Bokuto
So they think you probably consider him as just a friend and he’s definitely overthinking the friendship y'all have
“So, Bokuto-san, do you have plans?”Akaashi asks as they clean up after practice.
“Yeah! I’’m going to Y/n’s house and we’re watching movies.” He says excitedly
“Y/n, your girlfriend,” Akaashi says slowly. He knows how excitable Bokuto is and doesn’t want the guy getting his feelings hurt bc he misunderstood the situation
“Yes, my girlfriend,” Bokuto replies. “Have I not mentioned that?”
“No, no, you have.” Akaashi hums. “Are we ever going to meet her?”
“Her schedules pretty busy considering she also plays volleyball.”
“Are we talking about Bokuto’s ‘girlfriend’ again?” Konoha walks over with a shit-eating grin. “What position does she play?”
Bokuto perks up, happy to brag about you. “She’s a setter! She’s super good, like one of the best in the women’s division.”
Akaashi pauses, quickly connecting the dots. “Y/n Y/ln?”
“Yeah! You’ve heard of her?” Bokuto tilts his head.
“Uh, yeah, Bokuto-san. She’s the number one setter in the prefecture.” Akaashi says, looking back at Konoha. Akaashi actually enjoyed watching her matches to get ideas for his own setting.
“She’s your girlfriend?” Konoha asks incredulously. “Like, girlfriend girlfriend.”
“Yes, I’ve said that,” Bokuto smiles, walking away oblivious to the doubtful look shared between Akaashi and Konoha.
The entire team knows Bokuto’s got another date after practice because he keeps mentioning it every chance he gets. Akaashi and Konoha share a look every time Bokuto talks about you, 15 times and counting. They’re still convinced Bokuto has completely misread the situation and are tense at the prospect of meeting you.
“Hey, hey, hey! Y/n!” Bokuto yells excitedly, immediately dropping the ball he was going to put away.
He rushes across the gym and sweeps you up in a hug that pulls you off your feet. “I already know where we’re getting food, okay? And I found this milkshake place that looks super yummy.”
“Kou, please put me down,” you giggle, tapping his shoulder. “I'd like to meet your teammates.”
“Oh, right! Of course,” he sets you down, still grinning excitedly. “Guys, this is Y/n. The girlfriend I’ve talked about so much.”
So, he’s actually got a girlfriend, Akaashi thinks with a small smile. He’s relieved that Bokuto hadn't been confused.
“Y/ln-san, its really nice to meet you,” he says. “You’re an excellent server, I enjoy watching your games.”
“Oh, wow,” you flush. “That’s super flattering, thank you, Akaashi.”
Bokuto beams, glad to see you and his best friend getting along. The other teammates file through with their greetings until Bokuto is bouncing with impatience.
“Okay, okay let’s go eat! I’m starving,” he complains, grabbing your hand and dragging you out of the gym.
“Bye, it was nice meeting you all!” You manage to wave goodbye as Bokuto pulls you away.
“So, he’s actually got a girlfriend.” Konoha comes up beside Akaashi. “I’m kinda jealous. She’s a catch.”
“She seems good for Bokuto-san,” Akaashi says thoughtfully. “I’m happy for him.”

would you consider writing me some precanon jongeorgie angst. bc i imagine they probably bonded over their interest in the supernatural but never. you know. actually talked about their personal experiences/trauma. just give me a little of both of them handling that trauma very badly while never admitting their closest brush with the supernatural. or something. idk.
Hello anon! I haven’t written Jon/Georgie yet, but this prompt was too good to pass up. Hope you like!
Being with Georgie was easy. It shouldn’t have been, not for him.
But it was.
She carried herself with the utmost surety: of her opinions, of her feelings, of her place in the world. It wasn’t arrogance, more like confidence and something else Jon couldn’t quite put his finger on. There was a blankness in her eyes sometimes. Not an absence of feeling but an absence of...understanding, maybe. Of empathy. Georgie saw the world in black and white; she knew exactly what was right and what was wrong. She was blunt. She bulldozed over others in conversations, pointed out flaws that polite society knew to overlook and not name. Jon admired it, as much as it made him cringe.
But it was complemented by her fierce capacity for loving, her clever, teasing words, the way her fingers ran through his hair when he was stressed. That black and white view could quiet his mind like no other- ‘yes, Jon’, ‘no, Jon.’  She listened to his incessant rambling, nodding in the right places and adding her own commentary. She filled out the crosswords in the morning, her brow furrowed in concentration, colorful nails tapping at the table. She never wanted help, stubborn to a fault. Her dark skin ethereal in the morning light, the way her voice was low and croaky before her coffee. The ease with which she said ‘I love you.’
He remembered the day she first approached him, all ripped-tights and smudged, smoky eyeshadow. Just leaned against the wall on that chilly fall night and snatched the cigarette right from his hand, an eyebrow flicked upward as she took a drag. He couldn’t get a word out, just silently took her phone when she offered it and typed in a number with shaking hands. A year later and she was still that same girl, though he’d seen her stash of manga and her weird cat memorabilia. She was whole, real. It was comfortable.
“I’m not really sure if I should go.” They’re curled up on the couch, Jon leaning into the warm bulk of her. “All of the others are going, though.”
“It’s not like you’re close, right?” Jon’s petting the Admiral, the new addition to the household fitting in seamlessly. “I’m sure she won’t take it as an insult. You can always say you’re busy. Who was it, again? Her father?”
“Yeah.” Georgie’s shifting against him, clearly uncomfortable with the topic. It’s odd- she’s not usually so awkward about these things. If there’s something she doesn’t want to talk about, she shuts it down right away. This seems...different. “And no, not close. But everyone else is going- they want to show their support, I guess. It would be awkward if I didn’t.”
Perhaps Georgie didn’t like funerals. You’re not supposed to, of course. Maybe it was a phobia, a perfectly valid one. Plenty of people don’t like to see the reminder of death laid out before them. Jon’s been to a few in his lifetime- for his Gran’s friend, for a distant cousin.
For his parents.
He doesn’t remember his father’s, he might not have even gone. He was only two at the time. He distantly remembers his mother’s; it wasn’t well attended, he sat in the front row with his Gran. He doesn’t even remember crying, if he even realized the thing in the box was his mother, dead and gone.
Needless to say, he understands Georgie’s sentiments. “You don’t have to go, not if...not if you don’t like it. Plenty of people are uncomfortable with death-” This was the wrong thing to say, for Georgie tensed instantly, leaning away from him.
“That’s not it at all,” she says, snatching her legs out from where Jon’s leaning comfortable against them. “It’s- it’s the performance of it all. All those people standing around a body, sniffling and moaning-”
Jon tried for levity, bristling at her tone. “People grieve, they need closure-”
Georgie snorted, this time shoving him away on the couch, the Admiral jumping from Jon’s lap at the movement. Her words became impassioned, as if Jon needed to know, needed to understand. “Cremate them, then! Say a few words, scatter the ashes, whatever. But having the body on display like that?” She gets up, starts to pace. Jon’s never seen her like this. “Paint the corpse, dress it up, pretend it’s a person still but it’s not, and everyone’s just standing there around it, praying over it and watching it like it’s not just rotting meat you put lipstick on-”
“Georgie!”
“I can’t stand it.” She stops in front of him, chest heaving and eyes aflame. “What’s so monumental about it? We live, we die- and her father was old, it was bound to happen sometime. No need to make such a to-do. It’s- it’s just disgusting, is what it is.” She didn’t continue, and an awkward silence permeated the room.
Georgie got worked up about things on occasion. But the wild look in her eye, the total sense of incomprehension was...disconcerting. He agreed with her on certain points, of course, but the vehemence behind them- something wasn’t right. But it didn’t feel right to pry, either, and Georgie surely wouldn’t appreciate it.
“You could just say you’re busy, you don’t have to go,” he tries tentatively. She seems to deflate where she stands, looking uncharacteristically vulnerable. So he stands up, taking her hand in his. She lets him, but doesn’t meet his eyes. “But if you do, I can come with you. If you’d like.”
They stand in the very back row of the church after awkwardly greeting her grieving coworker. Georgie’s nails dig painfully into his arm, but he says nothing. They leave after ten minutes and stop at an Indian buffet on the way home. He silently watches her dig into a curry, his own untouched.
___________
When she first met Jon, she thought he was utterly out of her league.
It was her first semester back at school, she was an absolute fucking mess- drinking at all hours, barely present in her classes. She was out at the bar with a few new friends, most of whom she’d already forgotten the names of, and saw him standing there under a single flickering lamp, a cigarette dangling from long, slender fingers, raven hair back in a messy bun. Not many people could pull that off but he looked almost effortlessly cool (a thing she’d later find laughable for ever thinking) in his dingy leather jacket, his eyes far away and shadowed. She wondered what made him lose sleep. He had an odd, crooked little smile on his face and she was filled with liquid courage. The look he gave her when she took that cigarette out of his hand made her knees weak, and he took the proffered phone like he was only a little impressed. She sent a text to his phone and left, so embarrassed she went straight home.
He never did text her. To be fair, she never expected him to.
But she found him not two days later, hunched over a table in the campus library. She did a double take- surely this couldn’t be him, her impossibly handsome, silent figure who she surely dreamed up. But there was no mistaking that hair, those eyes. He was smaller, somehow diminished in his baggy jumper and wire-rimmed glasses, tapping a pencil against his textbook in irritation. Before she knew it she found herself picking up her phone, sending a text to the number with no name. And sure enough, his phone buzzed.
They went out on their first date a day later.
Jon was a ball of nerves, awkward and not at all like the man she thought she met that night. Somehow, the real Jon was better. She liked the way he blushed and stammered, the way a touch of her hand left him flustered and unable to speak. The way he could talk for hours about nothing at all, making even the most dull of subjects seem interesting with that voice of his- a voice surely meant for radio or T.V., something Jon himself endlessly scoffed at whenever she brought it up. They would sit in front of the telly for hours, marathoning ridiculous ghost hunting shows and pointing out the obvious fakes. Jon had a weakness for ghost stories, just like she did. “Most of them are absolute drivel, of course,” he said.
Most of them.
They found comfort in each other, their small island of two, had no need for other company. Georgie had never been able to relate to someone so well, not since Alex, and Jon was never fond of crowds. Three months in he tried to break up with her, saying he could never give her what ‘she needed’ but she stopped that in its tracks- Georgie would be the one who decided what she did and didn’t need, thank you very much. She liked the way he leaned into her on movie nights, like her touch was the only thing that mattered. The sincerity in his eyes whenever he complimented her in that earnest, awkward way of his. He challenged her when he thought she was wrong, sometimes their fights lasted days. But they always came back to one another, each knowing they had no one else who understood them. Was it healthy? Georgie couldn’t answer that, she didn’t know herself. Jon probably didn’t either. But she loved him, in her way.
That night they have a few glasses of wine, and Jon’s regaling her with some ridiculous story from his youth- apparently he was somewhat of a delinquent, wandering about at all hours. She laughs in delight, imagining a small, serious Jon climbing fences and evading the law. But suddenly Jon stops, his eyes going wide and his face growing ashen as he stares unblinking at the table.
It’s a spider- a tiny thing, really. Georgie’s been seeing a lot of them lately, and she really should be better about dusting the place. But Jon- Jon looks absolutely terrified, like the thing’s bound to leap out and kill him. She opens her mouth to tease, an instinctive reaction, but is instead startled by the loud smack of a hand against the table. Jon had smashed it certainly, but he lifts his hand and stares at it in wide-eyed horror, as if whatever he sees is nine times worse than the original thing.
“Jon-”
The chair hits the ground as he stumbles to her bathroom with heavy, labored breathing. She gets up slowly, approaching as quietly as possible to find him hyperventilating against the sink, the faucet on full blast as he washes his hand- scratches it, really. He’s mumbling frantically under his breath.
“...so many legs, get off, get off-”
She makes her presence known as not to startle him, approaching from the side and gently wrapping a hand around his arm once she sees him drawing blood. He starts anyway, his movements jerky and frenzied as he rips his arm away like her touch burns.
“It’s just a spider Jon,” she says softly, lifting her hands to show she means no harm. “It’s okay, you got it, it’s dead now-”
“But what if it isn’t!” He spits, slamming his hands on the marble rim of the sink and leaving bloody prints in his wake. He’s breathing so fast she thinks he might pass out. “What if it isn’t?”
She has no answer to that.
It takes about two hours, a hot shower and a stiff drink for him to calm down. They lay on the couch, watching something stupid, mind-numbing. She runs her fingers through his hair. He always liked that. She doesn’t say a word, he’s exhausted, and she knows from experience that pushing him will just lead to another fit like before. The next day, he brings her Hungarian by way of apology. They eat in a more comfortable silence, Jon gradually warming up as the evening goes on. Still, she doesn’t ask.
She spends the weekend cleaning her flat, standing on a chair and vacuuming at the cobwebs.

omg i have an idea for the jay series if you have the time 🥺 where you try to escape again and get outside but he catches you and brings you back in, but once inside again you get out of his grasp and hide somewhere in his house and he has to find you cat and mouse style 😶
Ty for saving me u genius bc I was running out of ideas again 🥴💜💜 this is quite a long one tho yikesss
TW / Trigger warning: yandere themes, violence, kidnapping, mentions of a dead body, mentions of stockholm syndrome
Word count: around 2k
Trapped Pt. 3 ~ Yandere Jay series
Cat & mouse 🔪
Tumblr media
After your little morning ordeal with Jay you two went up together, eating breakfast and cuddling. You found that he was in a better mood than usual not even bringing up your escape attempt once. Maybe he was over it by now, being confident that this time you actually wouldn’t try it again or rather if you did, he’d always find you.
When the movie you’d been watching together ended he stopped stroking your hair and it was quiet except for the pouring rain outside. These were your favourite kind of days.
‘‘ Will you take a day off today, we can stay in and watch more movies ‘‘ you said in a small voice still testing the waters.
He bit his lips, sitting up on the sofa now and pushing you away slightly.
‘‘ No I have something important to do, but‘‘ his eyes narrowed ‘‘-you better behave ‘‘
For a moment you caught yourself enamoured with him, ready to follow his orders and stay home waiting for him exactly like he wanted you to. But you caught yourself thinking these things and felt disgusted. Must be Stockholm syndrome, besides this is the perfect opportunity to escape again.
‘‘ y/n? ‘‘ he raised his voice making you flinch and quickly look up at him
He clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction, watching you closely.
‘‘ I said, IF you behave I’ll give you a better treat than the one I gave this morning ‘‘
‘‘ Oh, yes yes okay, I will ‘‘ you said distracted. Your head was buzzing thinking of all the ways to escape and the possibility of him finding you again. The anxiety was hard to keep under control as he got ready to leave the house.
‘‘ I’ll call you every hour ‘‘ he made sure that you were listening as he put on his jacket and headed out, giving you a kiss and locking the door behind him firmly.
An hour. You had one hour to escape, only this time you had to be smarter. You began to frantically go over the different plans over and over again. The anxiety and fear of him finding you again wouldn’t stop bugging you. But you made up your mind, gathering a few things, like a scarf and glasses for a disguise and was out the door in mere minutes after he’d left. You made your way quickly to the village when you were reminded of the incident there last time, so you decided to go past it, keeping your head low as to not make any of them spot you. They seemed to be too busy anyway, chatting to each other while carrying large boxes of various vegetables and fruits. As you passed by them, by now having spotted your destined location, a bus station, you caught a few words.
‘‘ I heard Jay gave the girl a very hard time ‘‘ a woman said
‘‘ A deserved one ‘‘ a man answered snorting
‘‘ Indeed ‘‘ another said
Instinctively you wrapped the scarf around your head a bit tighter and increased your pace. They paid you no attention though and the chatter eventually got more distant as you made your way over to the booth. Well there, you were extremely grateful as you saw that a bus would be coming in under a minute and when you looked up you saw the blue rectangular vehicle approaching. Its sign read the name of the town your friend was living in which earned a sigh of relief from you, growing more anxious the longer you stayed here. The bus got closer and stopped with a squeaky sound flinging the doors open. You practically ran onto it and sat at the back. Bouncing your leg up and down anxiously, you kept your eyes on the door waiting, begging for it to close as if he’d jump on any minute now.
Then, it finally closed and the bus was in motion. You looked behind through the window at the back of the bus as the village, landscape and that damned house swept by. You were free at last. How could he possibly find you now, you didn’t have a GPS or a tracker because you didn’t have a phone and the villagers didn’t see you. Leaning your head back, resting it on the seat you began to relax telling yourself that you were no longer in danger and everything was going to be okay.
A sudden stop that threw you forwards jolted you awake. Confused and newly woken you looked around and to your relief you weren’t back in the house. You were at the final stop, your friend’s town. As you got off the bus you quickly phoned your friend, and when the rain started to pour again you took cover under the station’s roof. She thankfully arrived in a few minutes, rushing to the car as soon as you’d finished explaining your...situation. The familiar blue sedan pulled over to the side right in front of you and you practically ran to it, swinging the door open and checking several times if it was locked.
‘‘ Hellooo? ‘‘ your friend snapped her fingers. You had been too busy being paranoid to even pay attention to her and it made you feel guilty now.
‘‘ I’m sorry, you know I’m just really paranoid. What if he’s here he- ‘‘
Your friend clasped her hand over your mouth muffling your protests.
‘‘ It’s fine y/n, you know I live at sea in a very small fishing town. How would that psycho even find us? ‘‘ she gave you a reassuring smile and playfully hit your shoulder.
Then she pushed the gas pedal down and down the bumpy road you two went, towards the little cottage sitting alone on the top of the hill. Your anxiety came back once again when you saw the fast approaching cottage. It was in the middle of nowhere, quite literally. If he were to find you here, you’d be dead. The nearest neighbour was what...3 miles away? Your friend noticed your breathing increasing slightly and gave you a few pats again as she forced the small car up the hill. She stopped it, stepped out and slammed the car door. She’d taken your stuff inside and left you there probably to cool off a bit. It didn’t take long until you followed her inside because you had made up your mind. She was right. He’d never ever find you or hurt you again. You were safe here and she said that you could stay as long as you wanted to.
You spent the rest of the night talking mostly about lighthearted stuff to not make you scared again but then you explained a bit about him, how he treated you and how he really was. After you chat was over and the sky had turned dark you went to your separate bedrooms. You climbed into bed and turned off the light falling asleep shortly after.
A loud bang awoke you making you open your eyes. It was still dark outside and the fear instinctively came onto you expecting the worst. Listening closer, having gotten out of the bed and laying your head against the door, you thought the noises sounded like muffled screams, whispers and thudding. Was he here? Without thinking you pushed the squeaky door open and as your friend’s cottage was very small you walked right in to the living room where you saw the scene which had been making all the noises.
It was your boyfriend, sitting on top of your friend’s lifeless body with his hands wrapped tightly around her neck.
‘‘ Get away from her! ‘‘ you screamed lunging towards the pair.
But when he stood up you already knew it was too late. You could see that she wasn’t breathing, her eyes looked soulless and she laid there like an empty shell staring into nothingness.
‘‘ Found you ‘‘ he smiled, a smile that broke you. Because looking at him you could see that he hadn’t struggled at all to find you. He wasn’t stressed, worried, surprised, angry or a mess. It made your heart sink. You truly never could escape from him. You didn’t even notice when his guards lifted you up dragging you towards his car, not even when they had strapped you in and started driving had it kicked in. You felt so numb, so helpless.
Through the whole car ride none of you spoke a word but you could sense that he was satisfied. Perhaps he wasn’t that angry because he had killed someone you loved so dearly, your best friend. That’s a greater pain than any hits or cuts could ever do, and he knew that. He leaned back during the ride and really enjoyed the look on your face, replaying your face over and over again as you saw the lifeless body of your friend.
The car ride came to an end way quicker than you would’ve liked it to. The guards were sent off by Jay and he turned to you.
‘‘ So naive. You didn’t learn a thing from last time did you? ‘‘ he said mockingly.
The hate was bubbling up in your chest and all you wanted to do was to punch him, kick him, anything, even kill him the way he brutally killed your best friend. But what you wanted more than anything right now was to get away from his mocking, smirking face that you wanted to punch so bad. But you knew if you did punch him you’d get it back but ten times worse so instead you stepped out of the car. When you did so, the guards stopped and watched you closely.
Suddenly you darted in to the mansion. You had to find a hiding spot. Anywhere away from this monster, even if it was for a minute would be ideal right now. And then, you’d try again and again. This incident wouldn’t stop that..surely. He took his time walking in after you and shouted out.
‘‘ Oh. So you wanna play darling? ‘‘ he sneered and you held you breath as you ran into the library, one of the rooms closest to the entrance which had caught your attention. It was huge and messy which made it the perfect hiding spot. You walked in, trying to walk as silently as humanly possible and crouched behind the first row of bookshelves in case he had gone into this room. When you didn’t hear anything you went to the inner corner of the shelf and sneaked along the walls, looking to your side on every aisle in case he’d be there waiting, ready to pounce on his prey.
When you had reached the end you saw a hiding spot that caught your attention. In one of the corners, in the large bookshelf there was a small space behind the bookshelf where you could squeeze in. Having done so, you pushed the books closer to each other as to give more coverage and waited. A few seconds had passed, then minutes maybe hours? And your hope had started to come back. Listening a bit closer the silence baffled you and left you almost breathless. He must be on the second floor now, now was your chance to escape.
As if on cue, your hopes were crushed when you heard the slow footsteps that you were all so familiar with.
Click, clack, click, clack.
They got closer and closer. Even though your heartbeat started to beat wildly the closer they got you were still hopeful. Your hiding spot was way too good. But when he came to the end of your row, the hope started to fade. They way he slowly walked made him seem confident and amused, something you recognised too well. But, to your surprise he walked right past you continuing slightly down the row closest to the wall where you had been walking along.
‘‘ I know exactly where you are ‘‘
He turned his back to you, stopping in his tracks and you swear he could hear your heart jump out of your chest by now.
‘‘ And, ‘‘ he said threateningly, growling slightly ‘‘ if you don’t come out dear little mouse I will play with your family instead ‘‘ the evil smirk came back.
You made a run for it as soon as he had said these words. The books you knocked down caught his attention and he had you down in just a few meters after you had tried to run. He had expected you to. Your face hit the cold floor causing you to cry out and the pain only increased when he twisted your arms painfully behind your back. You could practically hear the twisted sadistic joy in his voice as he said,
‘‘ I win ‘‘

The Hidden Name
Remus Lupin x reader
Request:  can i request a soulmate au with remus crushing on a slytherin reader? everyone (especially james + sirius bc her and regulus are best friends) thinks y/n has the dark mark bc she keeps hiding her arm but its a soulmate mark and the boys eventually corner her until she cries but only for them to recognize the mark on their friend. AH IM SORRY IF IT'S TOO SPECIFIC! THANK U 💖 (anon)
Words: 2900
Warnings: none
A/N: this is my first ever request! I hope it did justice to your ask!
-------------
Everyone got their mark on their seventeenth birthday and you were not excluded, no matter how much you feared the name that would appear on your wrist. It had happened to some of your friends already, but the names they had gotten were strange to them. It were the names of people who they had yet to meet. They had no fear of embarrassing themselves at school because no one knew the person belonging to the name.
For you, the case was different. You had stayed up all night for your birthday and had watched as the name appeared on your wrist. It was carved slowly into your skin and your eyes had teared up from the pain. But the pain that the name had made had been nothing to the pain that had been filling you ever since the moment you had read the name.
Remus
There was no way that Remus Lupin could be your soulmate. Not a chance. Something must have gone wrong. Maybe there was another Remus somewhere.
The first days after your birthday you had tried to convince yourself that the Remus that was walking around in the same school as you, was not the person that belonged to the name on your wrist. But you knew that it wasn’t true. Though you tried to ignore Remus as much as you could, you often found yourself in the same room as him. You were drawn to him like a bee to a flower.
There was no way of getting close to him though. It was obvious that he and his friends didn’t like you. Despite being in the same year as him, you had never really talked to him. Maybe you had exchanged a few words if you were in the same class, but you had never had a full conversation with him.
Maybe that was why you liked him, why you were drawn to him; he was mysterious. There was so little you knew about him and so much to explore.
However, not a single part of you believed that you would ever get to chance to explore. Remus was a Gryffindor, friends with Sirius and James, who had no problem showing that they didn’t like you. Even if it was just because you were friends with Regulus. You were a Slytherin, their destined enemy.
So, the morning the name had appeared on your you had hidden your wrists in your sleeves and even now a few weeks later your wrists had not seen anything but the inside of your shirts and sweaters.
The only person who knew about the name was Regulus. There was no way to hide something this big from your best friend. He would have found out anyway.
Regulus was your best friend, despite being a year younger than you. You had gotten to know him better during a detention in his second week. You were not exactly best friends with the Slytherins from your own year and Regulus had been different from them. You knew about his past, about his parents and his family, but you had gotten to know Regulus, not a Black. He had become your best friend and you could have not wished for a better one.
‘No, you go ahead,’ you said to Regulus waving with your book. ‘I’ll get my books. Meet you at the library in ten?’
Regulus nodded and walked away to the library, while you made your way to the dungeons. You had promised to help him with his Transfiguration essay, that he had been struggling on the entire week. You had wanted to help him sooner, but your week had been busy and you had barely had any time. So that was why you were hurrying to the common room on a Saturday morning, hoping that the essay wouldn’t be so difficult and you wouldn’t have to spend the whole day in the cramped, stuffy library.
You spun around the corner, but quickly stepped back as you saw who were standing in the corridor. There was no need to take a second look to be sure. James and Sirius were talking to each other, way too loud if they didn’t want anyone to hear.
‘I’m telling you, she has been hiding her left forearm!’ Sirius whisper-yelled.
‘She has been acting weird,’ James said. ‘She didn’t even respond to our comments last Potions class.’
That was true; James and Sirius always made comments to or about you and during the Potions classes was the only time that you were close enough to them to respond. It was now almost like a game to James and Sirius. Who could make you the most upset?
But lately both Sirius and James had noticed you barely even reacted at their insults. And the last class you had not even turned around to them when they had whispered your name. However, neither of the two Gryffindors had found a problem with that. They wanted you as far away from them as possible, especially after what had happened on Remus’ seventeenth birthday.
Remus hadn’t even noticed the name until his friends had pointed it out. James had laughed, saying that there was no way you could be his soulmate, Sirius had sneered something mean about you and Peter had only stared at Remus’ wrist. Remus had brushed it off, saying that he didn’t believe in soulmates. But none of his friends knew the excitement he had felt the moment he had read your name. The butterflies in his stomach were not unusual for him to get if he thought about you. He knew that you probably found him boring and dull or even worse, that you hated him. He had never talked to you, but there was something about you that intrigued him.
He never spoke to his friends about you and whenever your name was mentioned in their conversation Remus would pretend he was busy with something else. He hated how his friends didn’t like you. Maybe he could accept it if they had a good reason for it, but they only hated you because you were friends with Regulus and because you were in Slytherin.
James and Sirius walked on, still talking about how weird you had been acting and left the corridor, unaware that you had heard most of their conversation. They only stopped talking to say the password to the Fat Lady and when they stepped into the red common room and plopped down on the sofa next to Remus, their conversation was already continuing.
‘I think she has the dark mark,’ Sirius blurted out.
‘Who?’ Remus asked, squeezing his eyes at Sirius and closing his book.
‘Your soulmate,’ James answered and he pointed at Remus’ wrist where your name stood proudly in black ink.
‘She has been hiding her left arm for weeks now. I noticed at Transfiguration last week,’ Sirius said and he sat up a little more straight. ‘Her sleeve slid down her arm and I saw something black before she quickly put her sleeve back. She’s a death eater, for sure.’
James nodded to Sirius’ words. ‘What else you’d expect from a Slytherin?’
‘Just because someone has something on their arm, doesn’t mean they’re a death eater, Pads,’ Remus pointed out, feeling real uncomfortable about the conversation. You couldn’t be a death eater. You just couldn’t. ‘I have something on my left arm and I am not a death eater. Maybe she has a soulmate-mark there too…’
Remus’ heart started to beat faster at the thought of you having the same place for your mark. Everyone knew that soulmates would get each other’s name inked on the same place. Girls often tried to undress boys to see if they might have any names on their chest. There were even some sad cases, where the name of the soulmate had appeared on people’s forehead.
‘Come on!’ James said. ‘How big is the chance that she has your name on the same place?’
‘I don’t even think you are her soulmate, Moony,’ Sirius said, trying to be comforting but only hurting his friend. ‘You’ve never even talked, y’know?’
‘Yeah!’ Peter chimed in from his place on the floor. ‘Maybe she fits with you, but you not with her! Wouldn’t that be a relieve?’
Remus stared at his closed book and nodded. Maybe that was better.
- -- -
Another week went by and you started to get tired from hiding your wrist all the time. The conversation of James and Sirius was still in your mind. Had they really noticed you had been hiding your forearms?  What would they do if they would find out that you had their friend’s name there? What if they had already found out?
It was getting hotter and you would rather wear a T-shirt, but the thought of anyone seeing the name scared you enough to wear a long-sleeve. You had classes outside anyway and it was a bit breezy outside, maybe the shirt wouldn’t be so bad.
You sat down next to Regulus in the Great Hall. He looked at your shirt and then shook his head.
‘They’re at the other side of the hall. There is no way they can see you now,’ he pointed out and you looked at the four Gryffindors you had learned to avoid in the last month. Remus looked up and he caught your gaze. His hand reached up but halfway through the movement he apparently changed his mind, because his hand stopped. You quickly averted your eyes and turned to Regulus, who was chuckling at your blushing face.
‘You know he is seventeen too?’ he asked and poured you a cup of coffee. ‘Why don’t you just ask for his mark?’
You snorted and two third-years next to you looked up scared. You ignored them and rolled your eyes at Regulus. ‘Just ask him? Have you lost your mind?! I can’t just go up to someone I have never talked to and ask him to see his soulmate-mark!’
‘Alright, alright! Don’t stress! I just think you should at least talk to him. He deserves to know he is your soulmate,’ Regulus said and he shrugged.
You finished your breakfast in silence as you thought of your friend’s words. Maybe he was right and you should talk to Remus. Maybe, a little sparkle of hope in your chest said, there was a chance he had your name on his wrist.
That was the thought that was in your mind as you got up from the table, said goodbye to Regulus and walked to your first class. For the first time since your birthday, you let the thought of actually being soulmates with Remus enter your mind. There was a strange, bubbly feeling in your stomach as you thought of it.
The thought was quickly interrupted, however, by the appearance of four boys. The four boys you had avoided the whole month. You hadn’t even responded to the mean comments James and Sirius had thrown to you during your shared classes. Usually you said something back, but now you just couldn’t bring it to yourself to even come up with something. You had completely distanced yourself from them, but now there was no escaping.
‘Well, look who it is,’ Sirius said as he approached you.
‘Our beloved Slytherin friend,’ James said. ‘You know, you have been awfully quiet for the past weeks.’
Your eyes left James’ face for a second and slid over Remus’. There was no expression in his eyes and nothing on his face. You scolded yourself for even thinking of him as your soulmate and your right hand subconsciously grabbed your left wrist, where you could almost feel the letters of his name burning on your skin.
‘We don’t even have to bring up the subject ourselves, James,’ Sirius said to his friend as an evil smirk formed on his face.
In his hand you saw his wand and you were scared. You couldn’t think of anything you had done, but you knew that that was no excuse for Sirius and James.
‘You’re making it really easy for us,’ James said with a nefarious glint in his eyes.
You took a step back and felt your back against the cold stones of the wall. You could not escape, not even if you tried. The time it would take you to get your wand would be enough for them to hurt you. You tried to stay calm, but the tears were threatening to fall.
‘What do you have to say for yourself?’ James spat at you as he stepped closer to you, playing with his wand in his fingers.
‘What do you mean?’ you asked, unable to keep your voice steady.
‘Don’t hide it, it’s obvious,’ Sirius said. ‘Are you trying to get my brother into it as well? Haven’t you ruined him enough?’
‘I don’t know what you are talking about,’ you said with a trembling voice and a tear slid down your cheek as Sirius stepped closer to you and grabbed your arm.
You tried to pull your arm back, but Sirius was stronger than you. Your hand was stuck in his and there was nothing you could do. You dared not to look at Remus. Though you still didn’t know what Sirius and James were talking about, you did know that it would just take a second to lift up your sleeve and reveal what you had tried to hide for the past month.
‘James, the honour is yours,’ Sirius said, while he smirked at you.
The tears were streaming down your face and you didn’t even try to stop them. You had lost. They would see Remus’ name and laugh at you. Laugh at the name of someone who hated you on your skin.
James’ fingers brushed your skin as he reached for your sleeve. With one rough pull, your sleeve was up to your elbow and the name was exposed to the bright light in the corridor and the eyes of the four Gryffindors.
You had expected laughter and pestering, but instead the eyes of the boys turned into saucers. Sirius’ grip on you weakened and you managed to snatch yourself loose. Without even looking at them you ran away.
You didn’t know where you were going and you didn’t know how you ended up in the forest, but that was where your feet stopped. You dropped on your knees and hid your face in your hands. The tears still fell, but it was not because you were scared anymore. You were embarrassed; embarrassed that this had to happen to you. It could have been anyone else, why did it have to be you?
The sounds that surrounded you didn’t reach you. To you, it felt like there was no wind, like there were no other creatures in the forest, like there was absolute silence that was only interrupted by your sobs and unsteady breaths.
It wasn’t until you felt a hand on your shoulder that you were reminded that there were other people around you. You were not alone on the world, no matter how much you would like to be now.
‘I’m sorry for that,’ the person belonging to the hand said and they sat down next to you.
You looked to your side and saw the person who you most and least wanted to see right now.
Remus was watching you with his golden eyes, his hand still on your shoulder. You wanted to say something, do something. But you could not think of anything. Everything felt lost.
‘I know this is probably not how you wanted that to come out,’ Remus said with a light chuckle.
‘I wanted to tell you, I really did,’ you started with a hoarse voice. ‘But I was afraid. I’m sorry.’
‘You have nothing to be sorry about. I should be sorry, I am sorry.’
You looked at Remus and watched him struggle for his words. Now you were so close to him, you noticed things you had never seen before, like the light freckles on his nose and the scars that walked over his cheek. You saw how his hair was just long enough to hide his ears and you saw that he had very long eyelashes. How was it that you had never noticed how beautiful he was?
‘Maybe I should have showed you this the day I got it, but I was afraid too. We never really talked and I know my friends don’t like you. I feel awful for not stopping them this morning, but if I am being honest, I was curious. I was convinced that they were wrong, but I wanted to see what you were hiding instead.’
‘What do you need to show me?’ you asked.
‘This,’ Remus said and he put out his left arm.
Your eyes walked over his skin and stopped at your name. That was your name, on the same place where his name was on your arm. You were Remus’ soulmate. And he was yours.
From your name you looked at Remus. He was watching you with a nervous smile, that only widened when you smiled back at him. He dropped his arm and leaned closer to you, until your lips were almost touching.
‘Never thought that I would find my soulmate,’ he whispered as he brought his hand closer to your face.
‘Tell me about it,’ you chuckled back softly and leaned in to kiss him.
You found your soulmate.

staking your claim | j.h.
Summary: Natalie has problems with Nina and you’re helping out, like the good future sister (in-law??) you are
Pairing: Jay Halstead x Doctor!Reader / Natalie Manning x Will Halstead / Nina Shore x Will Halstead
Song I listened to while writing: Bust Your Windows by Glee (cuz it’s a fucking bop)
Author’s Note: I literally wrote this in one sitting bc I got inspired lmao. This is very heavily centered around Natalie and Reader’s friendship, because I feel like Nat needs someone in her corner. This takes place in Season 2, Ep. 19 of Chicago Med and I know Jay and Reader’s relationship doesn’t make sense canon-wise, but this is a fanfic after all, so let’s just pretend that Jay and Reader have been in a commited relationship with each other for a while. Happy reading!

“Hey Y/N,” Nina greeted you and you barely glanced up to greet her back, your focus entirely on your notes. Nina then turned to Natalie, who was standing right next to you.
“Hey Natalie. Can I ask you a favor?”
Natalie, held a finger up. “Uhm, one second,” she said, turning back to April. “Hey April, can you try and track down Connor for me?”
“Alright.”
“Thank you!” Natalie turned back to Nina, the stress written all over her face. “Sorry. What’s up?”
“I was going to give this to Will, but he’s busy. Can I leave it with you?”
That suddenly got your attention. Why would Nina ever ask Natalie for a favor regarding Will?
Natalie paused as well. “Sure,” she then replied, reaching a hand out for the jersey.
“He’s going to watch the game with his brother tonight. I slept in it last night and when he left this morning I was still in bed,” Nina added with a laugh and you furrowed your brows, while you kept your head down.
“I’d leave it in his locker but I wanted to make sure he gets it.”
You rolled your eyes, but put on a smile when Nina looked at you. She wasn’t the best actress and you could see right through her act, even if Natalie didn’t.
Natalie seemed a bit lost as she held the jersey, glancing at you briefly. “... Okay?”
“Thanks. You’re the best. Bye Y/N, see you later!” Nina called over to you before leaving the ED.
You forced a smile and waved at her, before turning to Natalie. She was still staring at the jersey in her hands and you nudged her gently.
“Hey you okay?”
Natalie nodded quickly, putting the jersey away. “Yeah, I am fine… But Nina was acting weird, right?”
Chuckling, you shrugged with your shoulders. You didn’t really like Nina with Will, if you were honest. She seemed nice enough, but you never clicked with her, despite her constant efforts to spend time with you. In your eyes, Natalie was the perfect one for Will. Especially because you knew of Will’s feelings for Natalie, you know, before the thing with Nina started.
“Duh. She’s trying to mark her territory, it was so obvious.”
“What?”
“I am pretty sure that she sees you as a threat, Nat. And the other day-”
“Doctor Manning, Doctor Y/L/N! Incoming, vehicular accident, two girls and their mother!”
Natalie gave you a look, which meant she was in no way done with this conversation. But for the meantime, you took care of the two hurt girls. Unfortunately, the day didn’t progress as you had expected it to go. The hospital’s server got hacked and you had to resort to old-fashioned blackboards, without knowing patients’ medical history.
At the end of the day, you were completely exhausted and just wanted to fall in bed. You threw your jacket on and grabbed your purse, when Natalie came into the lounge.
“Hey Y/N, are you going home?”
You gave her a tired smile and nodded. “Yeah, I am beat.”
“I wanted to talk about the thing you mentioned this morning…?”
Frowning, you thought back to earlier until you finally remembered. “Oh yeah, uhm. Do you maybe want to come over? Jay’s watching the game at a bar with Will so I’ll be alone tonight.”
“Yeah, sure. That sounds nice. I’ll just swing by Helen real quick to check on Owen, and then I’ll come over, yeah?”
Nodding, you gave her a thumbs up, rubbing her shoulder. “See you later, Nat.” With that, you left the ED and drove home to an empty apartment. The moment you stepped into your home, you let out a loud sigh at the sight of Jay’s shoes being all over the place. Moving in together was Jay’s idea. Your jobs ate up a lot of your time and when Jay was on a hard case, you often had gone days without seeing each other. Living together had a lot of pros, but that was before you knew Jay loved leaving his shoes where he took them off, which could be basically anywhere in the apartment.
But you loved that man, so you’d put them away for now and kick his ass later.
Dropping off your purse on its designated place, you headed to the shower straight away. After a refreshing shower, you ordered pizza for you and Natalie, when a text from Jay came in.
Jay: hey babe, you home yet?
You: yeah, just got out of the shower
Jay: Without me?😜
You: First of all, ew You: second of all, you’re too old to be using emojis
Jay: 😭
You: nat’s coming over now and I just ordered some pizza
Jay: okay, have fun, love you Jay: save me some slices!
You: Love you too. And no!
At that moment, the doorbell rang and you put the phone away to open the door, expecting either Natalie or the delivery guy. But instead, it was Natalie, the delivery girl.
“I bumped into the delivery boy on my way up and paid him,” Natalie said and you beamed at her, ushering her in.
“You didn’t have to do that. Come in!”
You grabbed a bottle of wine and two wine glasses, then situated yourself on the couch with Natalie. The two of you devoured a couple of slices before Natalie spoke up.
“So. About what you said this morning… Why would Nina see me as a threat? I don’t see Will that way.”
Pouring yourself another glass of wine, you gave Natalie a look. “Really? I see the way you look at him, Nat. The two of you have always been dancing around each other. Nina has eyes, she can see that.”
Natalie opened her mouth, frowning, before she closed it again.
“I never did anything while they were dating, I swear,” she insisted and you gave her a smile.
“I know, Natalie. No one thinks that, I promise.”
“It’s just…” She sighed. “At first, I didn’t want to rush into a relationship, because I haven’t worked through my grief yet. And then Will wanted to move on, which I totally understood. And with Jeff, I thought he was the right one, considering his history with my Jeff. But then he turned out to be the complete opposite. And now… Will’s with Nina and there’s nothing I can do about it.”
“At this point, I think you should just let their relationship run its course. I know it sounds kind of mean to say that, but I don’t think that they’re a good fit. You and Will are. You challenge each other, but also make each other better. I can see how you look at him when you think no one is watching; Will looks at you the same way, Nat.”
You could see the hope glimmer in her eyes and while you didn’t want your friend to get hurt, since Will and Nina are in fact still dating and even living together, you knew how right you were. You spent endless hours talking to Will about Natalie and you knew that feelings like that didn’t disappear overnight.
“I just don’t want Nina to think I am trying to step on her toes and ruin their relationship, you know,” Natalie added. “The way she acted today kind of intimidated me.”
“Yeah I totally get that. She was acting a bit crazy,” you laughed and Natalie grinned at you, nudging you with her shoulder.
“Enough about me and my problems. How are things with Jay?”
“Oh, things are good.”
The rest of the night passed in a blur while you and Natalie talked about everything and everyone. Nights like these were much too rare and you enjoyed spending time with your friends outside of work. It was nearing one am when you heard keys jangling at the front door, you and Natalie instinctively turning to the door.
As the door opened, Jay stilled in the doorway, like a deer caught in headlights.
“Hey Jay.”
“Hey babe.”
Jay waved, slightly abashed as he took his shoes off. “Hey guys, thought you were already in bed,” he mumbled, walking over to the couch to press a kiss on your head and high five Natalie. “I am just going to go to the bathroom real quick,” Jay told you and disappeared into the bathroom.
“I think that’s my cue to leave,” Natalie said, yawning loudly. “Don’t want to be too tired for work tomorrow.”
You walked her to the door and leaned against the doorway while she collected her things.
“Thanks for today, Y/N. I really needed that.”
Smiling, you pulled her in a tight hug. “Anytime, Nat. That’s what friends are for. Get home safely, okay?”
“I will. Say bye to Jay for me,” Natalie answered and you nodded, waving before you closed the door. With a yawn, you locked it and trudged over to the coffee table to clean it up, throwing the pizza cartons in the trash and putting the wine glasses in the dishwasher. You looked up when Jay came out of the bathroom, looking around.
“Nat already left?”
You nodded and wrapped your arms around his neck. “Yeah. It’s late and we have work tomorrow. You okay?”
“Mhm,” Jay nodded, leaning in to kiss you. The kiss was short and sweet, which made you smile against his lips. You pulled away after a while, observing him. His cheeks were flushed and it was obvious he’s had a few beers.
“What did you guys talk about?”
You snorted out a laugh. “Uh, about Will.”
“What about Will?” Jay raised a confused eyebrow.
“You know. Will and Nat. Nina came up to her today, trying to stake her claim. Waving around Will’s jersey like it was a prize. It was ridiculous.”
Jay laughed, shaking his head. “She did? Nina’s crazy.”
Shrugging with your shoulders, you pursed your lips. “I kinda get her. I mean, if anyone would even think about getting with my man, I’d whack them.”
“Yeah?” Jay asked, smirking at you in amusement. “You’d be willing to go to prison for me?”
“As if you’d let me go to prison,” you snorted and he chuckled, leaning his forehead against yours.
“Yeah you’re right. Can’t let anyone hurt my girl.”
You felt warmth spreading in your chest, just like it did everytime Jay called you his girl, even after all this time.
“You wanna go to bed?” Jay asked softly and you nodded, looking up at him.
“Carry me?”
He groaned out, but complied anyway, hooking his arms under your thighs to hoist you up, carrying you into the bedroom. The two of you quickly got changed and slipped under the sheets, cuddling up.
“You know,” Jay murmured, nosing along your neck. “I think you’re right about Will and Natalie. He’s still got that look in his eyes when he talks about her.”
“Yeah? I thought so. He should stop leading Nina on, then. It’s not really fair.”
“Tell him. He listens to you more.”
You rolled your eyes and swatted Jay’s hands away, reaching for your phone to text Will.
You: Get your head in the game, Will. If you still have feelings for Natalie, you should end things with Nina. It’s not fair for either of them.
Unsurprisingly, ellipses popped up a minute later.
Will is typing…
Will: You’re right. Thanks.

[a/n: anon 🥺 you’re so sweet ily !! Thank you for requesting, this prompt also made me spill all my uwus, enjoy! -yours truly, bunnyy -`ღ´- ps. (y/n) is bête noire the illusion hero: nicknamed Noir™ pls don’t take the quirk or hero name as your own without permission 😣 it took me a hot minute to think of it and I want to use it in future fics]
Dating a fellow teacher had many, many perks. One mainly being that you get to see them everyday and on those rare occasions, teach a joint class together.
You were the teacher of Class 1-A’s Special training class. You had a quirk called ‘nightmare awakening,’ on a base level it allows you to be able to get into someone’s head and make them hallucinate but at your advanced level, you were able to temporarily eliminate someone’s quirk. This allowed you to create a type of simulation for the students to experience a situation where they can’t use their quirk and make the most of the situation. Even though they absolutely HATED that class, they loved you. You were probably one of the most laid back and kind hearted among the teachers. No one had really known about your relationship with Shota. Just a few of the teachers and Shinsou. The only reason he knew was because Shota wanted him to train with someone with a similar working quirk and he had accidentally caught you and his mentor mid-smooch. That was...that was an awkward time for everyone.
The class had their suspicions. They had noticed the lingering touches that would’ve seemed normal if they weren’t so nosy. The way that he would subtly compliment your combat style and they had definitely seen the blush that would color your cheeks when he had stayed to watch their training, the way that you glanced in his direction every so often. They had narrowed it down to the possibility that the both of you were mutually pining for each other. Strangely enough, everyone was intrigued. Yes, even Bakugou and Todoroki. Deep down they just wanted their teacher to be happy, especially after everything that he’s sacrificed for them. They were in for a very shocking discovery.
Once the bell rang for your class, they all made their way to the training grounds. Heading to the locker rooms, Mina was trying to get the other girls on board with a plan to get their two teachers together.
A sudden warmth on the small of your back made you jump a bit. “So what’s on the lesson plan today, bête noire?” The way he basically purred your hero name in your ear made you turn a bright red, butterflies fluttering around in your stomach.
“O-Oh uhm well I was planning on doing a hostage situation.” You motioned to the trio of dummies tied to some chairs. “I’d be playing the villain, I’m still not sure about the exact simulation so I might just wing it.” You shrugged.
“Hmm well you always do amazing so, I’m not too worried. Just know that Bakugou, Denki, and Mineta have the lowest scores with hostage negotiation.” There was a slight teasing undertone to his statement.
“Well maybe that’s not their fault.” His eyebrow rose at your accusatory tone.
“And what are you implying? That I’m not a good teacher?” He played along.
“All I’m saying is that, a little more kind reassurance instead of constant discipline goes a long way.” You laid your hand on his shoulder.
“Is that so?” His voice seemed to get impossibly deeper, capture weapon moving to wrap around your wrist and hold it taut against your lower back. “That’s awfully rich coming from someone who loves being disciplined...kitten.” You could hear the smirk in his voice, breath hitching in your throat before realizing where you were.
“Shota! Don’t say things like that, the students could walk in at any second.” You scolded quietly, playfully smacking his chest as he let go of your wrist. A soft chuckle made it past his lips. This was a little out of the ordinary for your boyfriend. “What is going on with you today? You’re never this playful, especially in public.” you couldn’t help but smile up at him.
“Well, you haven’t been coming around to my place lately...I just missed you.” He stuck his hands in his pockets.
You basically swooned at his words. “Oh honey, I’m sorry. I’ve just been so busy grading, along with a couple of other things but I missed you too.”
“Considering it’s Friday and you don’t have patrol duties tonight, come get dinner with me.” He wasn’t asking.
“That sounds like a wonderful plan, Eraserhead.”
“I’ll pick you up at 7 sharp, Bête Noire.” He then made his way to the exit just as everyone started to pile into the room. Going to keep the door open, his phone had fallen out of his pocket when pulling out his hands but being someone who doesn’t care much for the device, he hadn’t noticed. Once he walked off, Denki, Hagakure and Mina made their way to the door but stopping once Mina saw the black device on the ground.
“Oh, someone dropped their phone.” Denki picked it and examined it for any damage.
“Who even brings their phone to training?” Mina frowned, turning the phone on to see the wallpaper.
“Wha- hey that looks like Noir-sensei? What’s she doing as someone’s lock screen?” Kaminari tilted his head in confusion.
“Look, it must’ve been when she went here! That’s a UA uniform.” Hagakure pointed out enthusiastically.
All three of them looked at the picture, then at their teacher. “Wow...hopefully I age that well.” Mina pouted.
“What are you three doing over there? You’re already late for class.” You weren’t chastising them but you made your disapproval clear.
“Well we found someone’s phone and you’re their lock screen!” At Denki’s words, your face scrunched up in confusion. They ran over to you and handed you the device. You turned it on and your eyes widened.
“You guys, I’m flattered but that’s a little strange to have a picture of high school me on your phone...so who’s phone is it?” Everyone looked at each other, shrugging. “Hmm strange.” You looked down at the phone and brushed your finger over the home button, realization filling your body when it unlocked. “Well anyways!” You cleared your throat. “Today’s simulation is hostage negotiation.” Some students, mainly Bakugou, groaned as you slipped the phone into your pocket for safe keeping.
...
After everyone left for their next class, you took your scoring sheets to the teacher’s lounge to have some coffee and do some grading.
Letting out a heavy sigh, you plopped down onto the couch and placed the stack of papers and mug down onto the coffee table.
“Rough day?” All Might asked as he sat on the couch opposite couch.
“Mmm not really, just tiring.” You answered while rolling your shoulders back. “After today, I now only have a student failing at hostage negotiation.”
“Ahh! I see. That young Bakugou can be a bit difficult.” He nodded sympathetically.
You snorted a laugh, almost spitting out your coffee. “Yes he can be but I’m talking about that boy Mineta...he tried to flirt with one of the hostage dummies. It was s-strange.” A shudder ran through your body at the memory.
“Oh...I-well I don’t really know what to say to that.” He chuckled awkwardly.
“Neither do I...” You pulled the phone out of your pocket and looked at the lock screen. You couldn’t believe he still had the photo.
It was during your guys’ last year at UA. This was before either of you had worked up the nerve to confess your feelings. The two of you had been going to a cafe a little ways from the school, it was a pretty solemn day because the two of you would be graduating in three days and heading to different agencies. Shota was staying in Musutafu and you were heading a few cities down. This would be the last time the two of you would really have quality time together until a few years later when you opened your own agency and moved back to Musutafu and quickly rose in the ranks. Once at the cafe, you couldn’t help the delighted squeak that left your mouth. It was filled with adorable cats.
“We’ve been here before, (y/n).” Shota shook his head fondly as to both of you went to sit. Almost instantly, a bunch of cats made their way towards you. He watched in amusement as a calico kitty climbed onto your shoulder, you had gasped and gently gathered it into your hands.
“Well hello there~ What are you doing up there you silly kitty~” You cooed as you started to pepper its little face with kisses. He had taken advantage of your distraction and took a picture of you. He caught the moment the kitten placed its paw on your cheek and gave your nose a lick. He blushed. You looked so adorable...ethereal even.
Your eyes began to water at the memory. You were so grateful for this man. You had been bullied by other students because you had, what they saw as, a villain’s quirk. You had absolutely no friends. Until he mustered up the courage to talk to you, since he too had been bullied for his “villainous quirk.’ The two of you had instantly clicked and became good friends, your friendship expanding during your second year when the both of you met the resident loud mouth, Hizashi.
Caught up in the moment, you took notice that it was lunch time already and made your way to the Class 1-A classroom. Sliding the door open, you were met with the sight of Shota writing on the black board. His features quickly changed from confused to worried when he saw the tears in your eyes.
“Sweetheart? Is everything alright?” He put the book he was holding onto the desk. He opened his mouth but closed it when you held his face in your hands, thumb gently running over the scar under his eye.
“I love you so much...you know that right?” You whispered, voice thick with emotion.
“Of course I know that darling, I love you too.” The way he said those words back with absolutely no hesitation made the tears fall and he pulled you close, hands on your hips. He leaned down, meeting your lips in a soft kiss. Your mouths fitting together like they were meant to never be apart, lips moving to convey all the things you wanted to say out loud but didn’t have the patience to confess. Your tears had intermingled with your lips but neither of you seemed to care.
When the both of you pulled away, you rested your forehead against his, wanting to stay as close as possible in the moment. Lashes still wet with tears as you looked at him. “I never believed in soulmates, but I do believe that it was by fate that I met you. You were there for me when others called me a villain. You still made an effort when I went away...I don’t deserve you.”
“If anything, it’s me that doesn’t deserve you.” There was a silent pause. “I plan on marrying you one day, you know?”
A grin split your lips at his words. “I hope you know that I plan on saying yes when you do.”
He kissed the teas from your cheeks and brushed your hair back. “What brought on this sudden love confession, kitten?”
You pulled his phone from your pocket and showed him the picture. “Ahh...so that’s where it went...” He muttered as he took it from your hand. “This is the day I decided that I was gonna marry you one day.”
“I’m glad. This was the day that I realized I wanted you by my side forever.” You pulled out your own phone and unlocked it, the homescreen was a photo of Shota on that same day with a cat nuzzling into his hand.
The two of you were just a pair of lovesick idiots.
“Oh my goodness...that was absolutely adorable!” Mina quietly fawned at the sight of their two teachers.
“That’s how a man truly shows his love.” Kirishima and Mina were both teary eyed at the sight.
“Whatever idiots, let them have their gross love fest alone...” Bakugou growled as he pulled the two away from the door.
The entirety of Class 1-A knew by the end of the day and definitely teased Aizawa about it on Monday.

‘Wake up, lovebirds! It’s Christmas baby!’
The last thing Dick wanted to hear first thing at 7am on Christmas morning was Jason’s obnoxious voice followed by loud thumps at the door. Thankfully however, soon enough his quiet pitter patter of footsteps were disappearing down the hallway. Those early training sessions that accustomed them to early mornings felt like a mistake right then. Especially considering the dull ache that pulsated at his temples; the several ghosts of the beers he’d had the previous night haunting him severely.
He let out disdainful groan, rolling over to his side and was immediately met with Kory’s sleepy smile. The calmness that settled over him was jarring and unsettling as he gazed at her. Even so early in the morning and jostled from unconsciousness, she still affected him like no one else ever had.
‘Good morning.’ Her voice was husky and low with sleep and so, so spellbinding.
But there were a minimum of three teens waiting for them in the living room. So, instead he greeted her with a soft ‘ ‘Mornin’ ’
‘Merry Christmas.’ Her smile widened, lackadaisical and laced with drowsiness.
She looked so content and adorable that he couldn’t help himself and the next thing he knew he had his lips pressed against hers, swallowing the surprised gasp she let out. But then she melted into him, threading her fingers through his hair and sending sparks of warmth all over his skin. But Dick reminded himself that there were people waiting for them and he pulled away from her, lifting his hand to cup her cheek, wanting to keep the contact he craved.
‘Merry Christmas. Are you ready for today?’ He asked, to which Kory let out a humorous snort.
‘It’s only Christmas Day, Dick, it’s not like we’re going to war or anything.’
‘Trust me, after spending the entire day with Jason and Gar together, you’ll feel like you did.’
Kory’s laughter burst out of her in a short, loud chortle prompting a wide smile from Dick. He didn’t think there was a time that he loved her more than when she was carefree and untroubled - just allowed to be herself. He leaned forward to capture her lips yet again but this time kept it short and sweet before he shuffled to the side of the bed and got up to make his way to the shower.
He threw a glance back at Kory to find her scrutinising him with an impish glint in her eye. Again the corners of his mouth lifted as he turned to face her, leaning on the doorframe of the bathroom.
‘Why’re you looking at me like that?’ He questioned, knowing exactly why she was looking at him like that.
‘Oh, just thinking about how much water we would save if we showered together. Save the planet and all that.’ She elaborated, sitting up onto her elbows.
‘Oh right,’ He feigned shock and folded his arms. ‘Well then, I guess for the good of the planet we have to don’t we?’
Kory chuckled loudly as she flew out of bed and past him into the bathroom, getting rid of her button up pyjama top along the way.
-
Dick emerged from his room to find Christmas music blaring from the stereo in the kitchen, Dawn, Rachel and Donna singing along as they prepared what appeared to be a feast of breakfast foods - eggs, bacon, hash browns, sausages, a selection of fruits; anything that was considered acceptable for breakfast was littered across the kitchen island and dining table.
‘Wow, you guys went all out didn’t you.’ He remarked.
‘Hell yeah, it’s Christmas man. When else would we get the chance to go all out.’ The reply didn’t come from either of the women but from Jason who sat next Conner and Gar  who were playing some car game on the tv. Hank, who was also sat next to them rolled his eyes at him before continuing faffing about with something on his mobile.
‘Um excuse me, there’s no we here except for us three. You guys just played video games all morning so I don’t wanna hear about this collective ‘we’ ok?’ Rachel said drably.
‘Hey, I helped!’ Gar protested, dropping his controller to the side.
‘I don’t know if I would call chopping fruit for 10 minutes entirely the same but it’s definitely more than Jason so I’ll thank you for that.’ She retorted, flipping a pancake.
‘Listen, no one here wants me to help with any kind of cooking for all our sakes, alright?’ Jason defended himself sliding down the sofa and throwing his arms behind his head.
‘Where’s Rose?’ Dick asked, glancing around the room for the silver haired girl.
‘She’s still asleep.’ Hank replied, rolling his eyes again.
‘Yeah, well I still need the sleep, I’m a growing girl. Unlike you, old man.’ Rose retorted as she shuffled into the living room to flop herself onto the sofa next to Conner. As much as she protested it when Kory picked it out, she still managed to wear the Home Alone themed Christmas jumper that Kory had picked out and matching fuzzy socks; obviously not wanting to ruin things for everyone else.
‘I’m not old! At most I’m a cool uncle you little brat.’
Dick watched as they continued bickering, a small smile danced on his lips as he felt his heart grow warm with fondness. It was rare to see them just acting like teenagers, arguing over something so trivial and stupid without being plagued with life threatening problems. His smile only broadened when a pair of arms slide across his sides and wrap around his waist, his body coming alive with the action. He spun around and was taken aback immediately, laughter threatening to bubble its way out.
Everyone was wearing some variation of Christmas jumper, by request of Kory herself, who quote unquote wanted to make the day ‘as Christmassy as possible’ but nothing could have prepared Dick for her own Christmas outfit. She wore an oversized green jumper, a shade that complimented her eyes but in the middle of the jumper was a Christmas tree flashing bright with lights and dotted with giant baubles that seemed to have every one of their faces stuck to each of the baubles, paired with a metallic gold mini skirt and stripy red and white tights.
‘Kory, what the hell are you wearing?’ He asked incredulously.
‘D’ya like it?’ She pulled it down and the baubles jingled as she did. ‘I bought it and then Gar helped me modify it.’ She looked up at him with a giant grin that was impossible not to return.
‘Babe, it looks ridiculous.’ He stated, finally letting out a small giggle.
‘I happen to think you look great, Kory.’ Donna called from her place in the kitchen.
‘Thank you, Donna. At least someone appreciates my hard work.’ She huffed, crossing her arms as best she could over the baubles.
‘Yeah, Dick why’re you hating on Kory’s awesome jumper.’ Rachel added, stirring the pot even further.
‘Hey, no ganging up on me on Christmas! I never said it looked bad, just ridiculous.’ He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her to him. ‘Ridiculously adorable.’ He professed before pecking her on the lips.
‘Ughhhh, gross you two. Get a room.’ Jason groaned but was immediately quieted by the orange Dick grabbed from the bowl on the side table and threw at him, inducing a laugh from everyone in the room.
‘What do you guys need help with?’ Kory questioned before detangling herself from Dick’s arm.
Donna began to give her instructions on what to do as she replaced Dawn in the kitchen who came to stand next to Dick, leaning her hip to bump into his.
‘You okay?’ She enquired. ‘I remember how tough Christmas is for you.’
‘Sure, I’m okay. How could I not be?’ He answered.
‘Good, I’m glad. I just wanted to make sure, you know?’
‘No need, I’m good. I’ve got everyone I need in this room; safe and happy. It’s impossible to be miserable.’ He declared honestly. ‘Plus Bruce is coming later after he ties up some business in Gotham, so the whole family will be here.’
He meant it slightly sarcastically but on some fundamental level he knew these people really were his family. Lost souls who floated aimlessly until they gravitated towards each other, who would then on be forever stuck in each other’s orbit. He thought it the thought would terrify him, another family he could potentially lose but no. Instead he was filled with such joy and love that he thought he would combust with it.
They were his family now, no matter what happened.

AO3
The sounds someone should hear in the morning are easy enough to guess...
The muffled sounds of traffic, a few birds chirping, and maybe some dulled footsteps from the sidewalk just outside. All of it together marks the beginning of a new, work filled day, which Kei would rather not think about.
Today is different at least.
What Kei hears is different too, and the sounds automatically make his mornings better than most people's. His alarm has become the distinct crack of Tetsurou's back as he stretches to get up.
It happens so often, Kei can now expect it, count on it. If a morning comes without the three little pops of Tetsurou's spine, then can it really be a new day? Not in his book.
He's happy they've reached the age where Tetsurou has stopped going on business trips so much. Mornings are way less dread filled these days.
"Ah fuckin shit," Tetsurou curses, one of the only few times Kei gets to hear him curse, because the other is far too much of a goody goody for that. Kei cherishes it.
It's a constant now. Like Kei spilling sauce on his shirt at dinner, or Tetsurou stubbing his toe at the end of the bed. Routines are hard to break.
He snorts as Tetsurou touches his lower back out of shock, as if this doesn't happen every damn day.
And, like clockwork, Kei delivers his line: "Quit whining old man."
It's his favorite, because Tetsurou is far from old in his book, and looks about ten years younger than he is. It's unfair. But while Kei may look like an older man, Tetsurou is the one who's beginning to complain like one.
"I don't know if we should order that, it looks sort of spicy doesn't it?"
"Kei, that's way past our bedtime."
"Can you believe the neighbors let their yard look like that?"
And fuck it, Kei laughs harder, especially when Tetsurou finally looks at him.
Tetsurou turns to him, eyes beady from sleep, his brain still working out how to distinguish shapes instead of blobs. Not like he needs much cognitive power to deal with his little shit of a husband, which he'll probably realize in .2 seconds. The raven's hair is as much a mess as it ever was, except now some of the hairs are more of a dull gray than a sleek black. Doesn't really bug Kei much. He still pulls on it, whether they're having sex or when Tetsurou clogs up the DVR with sci-fi movies.
Tetsurou complains about how he's probably going to go bald at sixty because of Kei. Kei pulls harder.
Wigs are a thing.
They have their little staring contest for another few seconds before Kei regrets his decisions. In response to his smug little grin, Tetsurou unleashes a new tactic, one Kei simply cannot overcome.
Tetsurou farts.
Yup like a twelve-year old.
It's loud too, and Kei's not about to stick around for the smell. They'd had a big dinner the night before.
What a fool he'd been.
Tetsurou just lets one rip right into their newly washed bedspread and Kei may not be a big athlete anymore, but the speed at which he jumps out of bed is unrivaled. His knees buckle because Kei never stopped being a baby giraffe in some sense, and he topples over, his brain not awake enough to communicate to his legs that uh hey, you guys can walk you know?
"I want a divorce," Kei mutters, staying on the floor because why not? It's fun down here.
Tetsurou gasps, leaning over the bed cautiously so that his face is peeking down at Kei. The image is almost cute enough for Kei to forgive him. Almost. "On Valentine's Day? That's a bit cruel isn't it babe?"
Kei throws a pillow at him, and since they're not above this kind of retributive justice, a war ensues. Kei always insists on having a shitload of pillows on their bed, though half of them end up on the floor and Tetsurou ends up only using two, but it's for the aesthetic™ okay?
Also, Kei likes having a good supply of weaponry. Some of these are back support pillows. They can kill, and he knows it.
The fun ends when Tetsurou stubs his toe on the edge of the bed again, and Kei doesn't care about counting it as a cease fire. He fuckin' won, bitch.
Tetsurou ends up running ten minutes behind because Kei has to break out the first-aid kit and make sure he didn't break something, and then he's scrambling to get ready, avoiding the bed at all costs.
Meanwhile, Kei plops himself down on their couch and listens to Tetsurou drop nearly every bottle in their bathroom. He clicks on the television, sipping his coffee leisurely and humming because Tetsurou finally remembered to buy his preferred brand from the store.
He hears Tetsurou curse from the kitchen this time, and yeah, that...that was a mug he'd just heard.
Yeah, working from home is a blessing. He'd clean the shards up later.
Kei has more pressing issues at the moment, like the fact Tetsurou fucking clogged up the DVR again.
Defiantly, Kei erases one, but just one. If something seems amiss, then Tetsurou will come for his cooking shows and he cannot miss who goes home this week. They're three episodes away from the finale, it's a crucial time.
He changes the channel to some stereotypical romance flick just to provide background noise, and remembers what Tetsurou had said earlier.
Valentine's Day.
It's not like Kei had forgotten, how could he? It's like the holiday threw up on anything within an infinite mile radius. Pink hearts, red streamers, cute cards and flower bouquets littered every grocery store he passed. There were ads on T.V. too, not to mention the influx of romance films and the public displays of affection he'd been forced to witness on the street ever since February 1st.
Yeah, so it's Valentine's Day. What a shock.
Kei hardly hates the holiday though, and not just for the candy clearance sale the day after.
A few seconds later, Kei is broken from his thoughts by a wet, sloppy kiss hitting his cheek, and he's not proud of it, but he yelps. Tetsurou is smirking at him, and screw it, Kei's revenge meter is all out of juice for now. He leans forward, catching Tetsurou's lips greedily.
He can feel the wetness on his cheek still, and he wipes it off, making Tetsurou laugh against his mouth. Asshole.
But Kei's smiling like an idiot.
Kei's breath still stinks too, he's almost positive, so that's payback enough.
Not like it ever matters.
Soon enough Tetsurou is wetting Kei's dry lips with his tongue, and the innocent kiss develops the potential to get too steamy too fast.
The last thing they need is Tetsurou's office knowing his husband gave him a boner first thing in the morning.
Or maybe they do.
Fuck 'em.
Kei clumsily sets his coffee down on the table, knowing a few drops sloshed out onto the sides but not really caring about the stickiness as he moves into Tetsurou's lap. Large, rough hands take their reserved place on his hips, rubbing circles in the exposed skin lazily. Kei moans, letting his tongue tangle with his husband's, and just because he can't help it, he tugs on his black strands, messaging Tetsurou's scalp.
From the way Tetsurou groans at the treatment, they know it's too much for a goodbye kiss. At least on a work day.
"Save it for tonight stardust," Tetsurou practically purrs, and Kei's so used to the nickname by now he overlooks it altogether. He does plan to save it for tonight actually.
"Don't be too tired when you get home then," Kei whispers, delivering one last peck to Tetsurou's lips before he climbs off of him. Tetsurou is at least twenty minutes late now.
"How dare you, since when do I get tired?" Tetsurou says, getting up to stretch lazily. It's not really a question they have to answer, not when they'd recently started knocking out before eleven. Their college selves would be ashamed.
Kei leans back, admiring shamelessly as Tetsurou fixes his tie. He's allowed okay? Fifteen years gives him permission to do mostly anything. Tetsurou's not as cut and carved as he used to be, but he's still the envy of all their neighbors, not to mention eye candy for plenty of them.
Tetsurou's the ultimate image of someone who aged well and looked happy doing so, walking out of the house in his slacks and button up like he didn't realize how admired he was. Kei's sure he does though, he just doesn't really care unless Kei's the one doing the admiring.
Yup, that's right. Kei married the neighborhood hottie, his mom would be so proud.
Tetsurou preens from the attention Kei gives him, leaning down lift Kei's chin and give it an affectionate squeeze. "Take out for dinner?"
Kei snorts. Duh. "It's Valentine's Day, isn't it?"
Tetsurou grins, and already, Kei can't wait for him to come home.
Their Valentine's Day traditions have changed throughout the years, but the holiday refuses to let go of at least some of its spark. When they were in college, they'd actually gone out, fighting for reservations at nice restaurants, going to new movies, or sometimes even doing the stupidest things imaginable...
Now though, Kei's patience for the crowds and the stress was even more thin, and his expectations for a romantic night out were simpler, more private.
Basically, Valentine's Day had become one of the few nights of the year where they elected to do nothing. Nothing.
No cleaning, no cooking, no worrying about meeting up with friends or scheduling home improvements, just...nothing. They ordered food, the most unhealthy sort Kei could think of, and spent the hours together, watching shitty movies and reminiscing.
It's cheesy, he knows. But he doesn't mind that anymore either. It's so cheesy, and he loves it. He loves Tetsurou.
It's the perfect way to spend a night in his mind.
Over the years, Valentine's Day fills him less with butterflies, and more of a calm nostalgia. A comfort, a warmth.
Kind of like Tetsurou himself. Kei smiles; he knows the feeling is mutual.
That's one thing he does appreciate about getting older. The confidence in his partner, the content which comes with the smallest things. The need to pretend or hide is long gone, chipped away at throughout the years until it ceased to exist.
When he was younger, he'd always wondered if he'd ever get to point like this, how it all would feel...
He guesses this is what it's like. He finally knows the answer, grinning as he watches Tetsurou trip over his own feet as he races out the door to work.
This is fifty.
--
When they're twenty-four, they're not as enlightened.
"Kuroo, please stop," Kei pleads, and yes, he really does plead. As above freaking out as he usually is, this is ridiculous. His voice is a high-pitched whisper, and his shoulders are tense, looking every which way in search of a possible security guard or serial killer (anything could happen alright?) coming for them.
"Relax babe, we can do this no problem," Tetsurou shrugs him off, tying his old sports jacket around his waist and eyeing the chain link fence in front of them. At first glance, it doesn't look so tall, but Kei has his doubts.
In the distance, he can hear the crowd cheering as the opening act of a concert takes to the stage. He really does like this band...maybe--oh my god no!
Kei reaches forward as Tetsurou touches the fence, about to start his climb, grabbing his hands instead. This is a bad idea and they both know it. Tetsurou only blinks at him, torn between pleased and confused that they're touching, and Kei can't help it, he blushes despite his annoyance.
He keeps their hands locked together though.
"We're too old for this, you're not exactly eighteen anymore," Kei scolds, and he winces, the backpack he has on suddenly bothering him. They'd stuffed a good amount of beer in it earlier, hoping to have a romantic night at the concert.
Problem is, they're broke bitches, so actually buying tickets to said concert wasn't a possibility. Tetsurou had been so confident about finding a way in though, Kei had simply rolled with it.
How dumb of an idea could Tetsurou possibly conjure up?
That's what he'd thought. To this day, Kei doesn't know why he keeps testing fate.
Maybe it's because with Tetsurou, he doesn't need much convincing that things will work out. And really, they always have, just not always in the way he anticipates.
Tetsurou grins at him, kissing Kei's knuckles softly as he laughs. "Psh, you make it sound like I've got liver spots already, it's just a fence. We'll be over it no time..."
Tetsurou's voice climbs in pitch, playfully egging Kei on as he scoots closer, but Kei sees through it, and won't let the control slip so easily from his grasp.
Kei huffs, dodging Tetsurou's kiss to his lips. It takes more willpower than he'd like to admit. "Okay, what about this: I'm not eighteen anymore. Are you trying to kill me?"
He's not joking either. Kei wouldn't call himself a complete klutz, but he's not exactly Mr. Elegance. He can't even stand on one foot for too long, and his boyfriend wants him to hop a fucking fence?
If they get caught sneaking in with a crap ton of beer (assuming they make it over the fence without eating shit), they're dead, and Kei would rather not make that call to his parents to bail him out.
Tetsurou just laughs, the sound sudden and downright hideous, but Kei loves it anyways. "Stardust, you look as young and beautiful as the day I first saw you..."
"We're going to end up in the ER again," Kei deadpans, refusing to let the nickname get to him. It causes him to blush up to his ears, and even in the dark, he's sure Tetsurou can tell, but it's fine.
Compliments will get him nowhere.
Tetsurou slumps against Kei, a full body pout, and Kei can't help but laugh, pushing him in vain. Damn, Tetsurou is heavy.
"Hey stop--ah! Stop!" Kei pleads, his voice a whisper in between broken giggles. His legs are giving, and screw it, he just lets Tetsurou fall on top of him. Grass stains be damned, he is not losing this battle.
They end up wrestling for a bit, the grass soft and inviting, before Tetsurou pins him there, always better when it comes to contests of brute strength.
I'll get him back later. Kei never fails to.
Kei's laughter comes in short, fading bursts, his lungs fighting to catch up. Tetsurou's hands frame his face, and looking up, he can see the night sky is serving as the raven's own personal backdrop.
There's a lot of stars out, he notices, and for a moment, he wonders if it's really fair that Tetsurou gives Kei all the celestial nicknames. They seem far better suited to him, especially when those golden eyes are shining as bright as the stars above, focused solely on Kei.
Kei's own, personal galaxy, wrapped up in one person.
Ugh, listen to yourself. Shut up.
Tetsurou's rubbing off on him, and he's not a fan.
Rather than stew in his embarrassment, he meets Tetsurou's lips halfway, and the raven pauses just briefly, as if asking permission. It's almost a tease too, with how Tetsurou's breath tickles Kei's face from how close they are, the hesitation too considerate and too maddening all at once.
Kei grants the wish, and the kiss sends sparks through him, all the way down to his toes as he melts against his boyfriend.
It's short, because they're out in the open and Tetsurou knows how Kei is about their privacy, but that doesn't stop him from quickly rubbing their noses together before he finally pulls back.
Dork.
Tetsurou sighs, staring down at Kei fondly, and the blond thinks maybe now they can just skip all this and go home. After all, it's Valentines' Day, and the concert is probably on T.V. anyhow.
However, when has Tetsurou ever conceded so easily?
"Well, thanks for that, now I feel like I could climb two fences," Tetsurou says triumphantly, and Kei's smile instantly falls as his boyfriend smirks. "Maybe even a whole mountain."
"I'm leaving you." Kei gets up, but he doesn't go anywhere. He's all bark and no bite, sadly.
"Yes yes," Tetsurou says, because goddammit, he knows Kei's ass isn't going anywhere either, and turns back to eye the fence. "Now, back to business."
"Why are you like this?"
"I just like proving you wrong baby," Tetsurou says, putting one of his feet into an opening in the fence. Oh my god you're serious aren't you? Fucking...
"I highly doubt I'll be proved wrong," Kei says, already taking his phone out in case he needs to call someone. That, and part of him really does worry about his boyfriend's safety, and he'd rather not actively watch the climb. On the off chance Tetsurou actually gets over the fence, Kei notes, the raven will never let him forget it, so it's a losing situation all around for him.
Tetsurou turns to him, his hands and feet now locked into his starting position, and gives him one last dazzling grin. "Watch and learn."
And oh, Kei learns.
He learns that damn, he should be a motherfucking psychic with how good he predicted this shit.
They end up in the ER about half an hour later, but Kei's not really as concerned as he'd feared. In fact, he's starting to get bored. He knows it's bad, but the 'hehe I was right' potential behind this whole night has him giddy, and he can only hope he and Tetsurou stay together for the rest of their lives, just so he always has a chance to bring it up.
They hadn't gotten caught by anyone, but Tetsurou had lost his footing on the fence halfway to the top, and ended up with a deep gash on his thigh. After the initial freakout of driving them to the hospital and signing Tetsurou in, only to find the injury was an easy fix, he calmed down.
Three hours of waiting room scrabble and twelve stitches later, Tetsurou is signing out at the front desk about ten feet from him. Kei sits in the overly stiff waiting room chairs, ready to get up and help his boyfriend limp to the car. No excessive activity for a week and a half. Those are the doctor's orders, and Kei plans to enforce them, strictly.
This night has been a stressful one, but at least it was winding down.
Now, Kei only wants to go home and relax, maybe curl up with Tetsurou and watch the missed concert on pay-per-view and nurse his boyfriend's hurt ego.
The night is still young.
Plus, he can see the slight guilt in Tetsurou's eyes, the damn romantic. As if this could possibly ruin Valentine's Day. Hell, this is the best Valentine's Day Kei has had so far.
And the holiday would only get better, if the both of them were involved, no matter how stupid the shenanigans.
Tetsurou smiles sheepishly at him as he turns from the desk, and Kei shakes his head fondly, standing to allow Tetsurou to use him as his own personal crutch.
As heavy as Tetsurou is, Kei doesn't mind the weight.
Tetsurou groans a little from the pain as they walk through the parking lot, and when there's no one in sight, Kei allows himself to reach up and kiss the corner of Tetsurou's mouth.
"You know, maybe next year, we should stay home and order takeout," Kei suggests, his smile smug, and Tetsurou kisses it right off.
The raven sighs, but looks about as happy as Kei feels, despite the stitches in his leg. "You know what stardust, you might just be onto something."
--
Kei smiles at the memory, sipping wine from the mug Tetsurou bought him for his 50th birthday (because he's classy like that, and who needs wine glasses?).
He has his feet in Tetsurou's lap, and he's eating directly from the box of fried rice they ordered, because Tetsurou prefers pan fried noodles anyways, so they just order their own sides.
Kei is laughing so hard he fears he might choke, and with a pout, Tetsurou throws a spring roll at him.
"Hey! If you get crumbs on the couch, you're cleaning it," Kei protests, eating the spring roll because fuck no you're not getting it back now.
"You tell this story every year," Tetsurou groans, but he's laughing just as hard. "When will you give it a rest?"
"When it stops being funny, which will be never," Kei says with a shrug, because it is the most obvious thing in the world at this point. He likes to call that ER episode the most memorable Valentine's Day they've ever had, but he'd rather not have a repeat.
No, he'd been right all those years ago.
Sitting here in pajamas and fighting over what movie to watch, eating foods that'll go straight to his thighs...
This is his kind of Valentine's Day.
Doesn't mean he can't remember their younger ones fondly though, as stupid as they were.
And judging from the way Tetsurou is looking at him, like their back lying in the grass all over again, Kei knows he feels exactly the same.
"Guess I'll have to endure then," the raven says, pulling Kei into his arms, and he doesn't sound the least bit upset about it. "Happy Valentine's Day."
And yeah, Kei thinks, it most definitely is.

night terrors and sweet dreams - chp. 1
it’s @adrinino-november and NaNoWriMo, so of course that means i’m going to do a ninoir longfic. buckle in kids (it’s been...... a While since i’ve done anything longer than a oneshot)
on ao3
Words: 1.7k
Adrien and Nino had a policy to tell each other everything. It started after Nino chewed Adrien’s dad out one too many times without telling him first, but it stuck because they agreed it was just good policy to be open with your friends. Secrets aren’t a good foundation for any kind of relationship.
Of course, Adrien hated it, but he did have to keep one secret from his best friend. And he was really regretting it now, because it had landed him in one hell of an awkward conversation.
He and Nino were video chatting, under the guise of helping each other with homework. It was one of those rare Sunday evenings when Adrien had nothing scheduled, though his father was busy downstairs, running around like a madman and breaking the souls of his interns in the rush to plan their spring line. Adrien was quite happy to stay in his room and do nothing for a while.
They actually were working on homework for a few minutes. When Nathalie came in to check on him, Adrien hurried to look busy, but then they stuck to it even after she left, and lapsed into silence, with the rapid tapping of Nino’s pencil on his desk keeping time.
“Hey, dude?” Nino asked after a minute. His voice sounded strained, and Adrien figured he was having trouble with the math problem they were on. He definitely was.
“Yeah?” Adrien asked, not taking his eyes from his paper. Nino didn’t speak for a moment, so Adrien looked up. Though his face was trained towards his phone’s camera, Nino’s eyes were clearly fixed on a spot on the wall above it.  “What’s up?”
Nino wetted his lips nervously. “I, uh, don’t want to be that guy, but is it okay if I ask you about… gay stuff?”
Adrien chuckled. “Yeah, man, I don’t mind.”
“Right. Cool. Thanks.” Nino took a deep breath. “It’s just--I kind of wanted some… advice? Because I-I think I might like guys, too.”
“Really?” Adrien exclaimed. “I mean, dude, that’s great. What did you want help with?”
“I don’t really know, I guess?” Nino scratched the back of his neck. “I’ve kind of been thinking about it for a while, and I just wanted to… talk about it?”
“Sure!”
“I mean,” Nino continued, more confidently. “I feel like I’ve always kind of thought dudes were hot, without realizing that’s what it was, you know? And lately I’ve been just sitting with the thought of, like, dating guys or even just, like, letting myself be into them?”
Adrien nodded, and took a drink of water to try to suppress a smile as Nino gained momentum.
“I mean, for a while, I guess I just thought I was jealous of those dudes?” Nino shrugged. “Like, Kim’s just popular. Chat Noir’s just a superhero. You know what I mean?”
Adrien was glad he’d finished swallowing already, or he would have done a spit-take. “Yea--Wait, what about Chat Noir?”
Nino scoffed. “Yeah, come on, bro. Everyone knows you’re in love with Ladybug. Don’t tell me you’re not a little in love with Chat Noir, too.”
“I’m… not?”
Nino blinked. “Oh. Well, that makes one of us, I guess.”
“I--you, uh…what?” Adrien tried to seem casual, but he couldn’t help gaping.
“Dude, I’ve had some pretty good dreams starring Chat Noir,” Nino grinned.
Adrien rubbed at his eyes, still trying to process. “Wait, what does that mean?”
Nino flushed. “You know, the kind you might need a cold shower to wake up from.” Adrien squinted in confusion, and Nino sighed. “We banged, Adrien. I was trying to be discreet.”
Adrien made a choking sound and had to pretend to drop his pencil to have an excuse to duck down and hide his bright red face. He let his face take its journey through whatever emotions flashed through it while it was hidden from view, which mainly involved various degrees of shock and him silently mouthing, “What the fuck?” a few times.
He took a deep breath, and straightened up. Nino was looking anxiously at him from the other side of his phone screen, and Adrien forced up a smile. “Sorry, dude, I know this is a bad time, but Nathalie needs to see me for something, so I gotta go. Thanks for telling me, really, and I’m totally free to text if you need it.”
Nino’s face cleared, and he beamed. “Thanks, bro. See you tomorrow.”
“See you,” Adrien agreed faintly.
The moment Nino’s face disappeared from his phone screen, Adrien whirled around to face Plagg, who was stifling snickers on the bed. When he met Adrien’s eyes, he let himself be as loud as he wanted, cackling gleefully at Adrien’s conflicted expression.
Adrien’s phone buzzed; it was a text from Nino.

Hey, sorry if I made things weird at the end there

Idk that was a big help in figuring it out bc it was just one of those things where u wake up and ur like “huh. Cool.”
U know?
Adrien had to laugh. He did know. But…
Chat noir? Really?
Why what’s wrong with him
Dude he’s so lame
B
R
O

I’m offended for him
I’m offended for me

LisTen
Every time I see an interview w him

It’s embarrassing

It’s Endearing my dude
My bro
I’ll convert u mark my words……….
One day you’ll accept that chat noir is hot
Adrien snorted. “I doubt it,” he said aloud.
Plagg looked up at him. “You know, he didn’t hear that.”
“Yeah, shut up. I’ll show him how lame I can really be. Plagg, transform me!”
As Chat knocked on Nino’s window, he had the belated realization that he hadn’t thought this through. At all.
But there was no turning back; Nino had already caught a glimpse of his silhouette framed against the streetlights. Chat wiggled his fingers and grinned awkwardly.
He was off to a great start.
Nino’s face flushed as he scrambled off his bed, searching madly for something on his floor. He found a sweatshirt and pulled it on, pulling his headphones off his ears in the process, and they dangled down from the neck of his shirt, bouncing against his chest when he rushed across the room again. He cracked the window and casually tried to sling his headphones to their normal position around his neck.
“Ch-chat Noir! What’s up?”
“Oh, you know.” He stuck his legs through the open window, and sat down on the sill. “Just… chilling?”
Nino bobbed his head. “Yeah, cool. Cool. Uh, so is there anything I can… help you with?”
Chat shrugged. “Not really. I was just out for a walk. Saw your light on. You know how it is.” He kicked a pile of papers and watched them scatter across the floor.
Nino grimaced, but said nothing.
“So, what’s up with you?” Chat continued. “Staying upbeat, and all that? Well, I mean, I guess you’ve gotta.” He grinned and tapped Nino’s headphones with his foot. Nino had backed up pretty far from the window, so it was a bit of a stretch, but he managed to keep his balance by bracing both arms against the top of the window pane.
He was sure it looked ridiculous, but that was the point.
“What?” Nino looked mystified.
“Up beat,” Chat repeated. “You know.” He tried to touch Nino’s headphones again, without stretching this time, but ended up just sticking his leg in the air and wiggling it in Nino’s general direction. “Beats. Your headphones.”
“Oh!” Nino chuckled, but it wasn’t fake or forced, to Chat’s surprise. He had purposely made the worst joke he could think of in the moment. And he was used to Nino’s fake laugh, from the number of times he’d taken pity on Adrien’s horrible sense of humor.
What was he doing?
“Yeah, no, I’m good, man. Uh, h-how are you?” Nino crossed his arms nervously, hugging them against his chest. “What’s going on? Besides, like, shaving the--saving the city all the time. Man, do you even have any free time?”
Chat shrugged. “Sometimes. I do need to eat and sleep and stuff.”
“Oh, cool, you eat!” Nino flushed. “I mean, of course you do. I mean, I was going to ask if you wanted something to eat. You know, while you’re here. Or another time, maybe, if you’re not hungry now?”
“Oh, strange, nameless boy, you read my mind,” Chat said.
“Uh, it’s Nino. We’ve met before. You don’t remember me? I’m friends with Alya, and--”
Chat closed his eyes and held up a finger. “I’m doing a thing.”
“Sorry.”
“See,” Chat continued. “I came by here for one reason tonight, and I haven’t been totally honest. I stopped by tonight, because when I looked in your window, I saw something I want, and I wanted to ask you…” He paused for dramatic effect, and then said. “Can I have some Doritos?”
Nino stumbled back and snatched up the open bag of chips from his desk. “Yeah, sure,” he said breathlessly. “Take the whole thing, if you want.”
Chat stuck his hand through the window and grabbed as many Doritos as he could hold, before stuffing them all in his mouth. “Thanks,” he mumbled. “See you around.”
He left Nino standing dumbfoundedly at the window, his arm still outstretched and holding the Doritos bag out to no one. Chat ran home as fast as he could, and dropped his transformation.
He kicked back on his bed, and Plagg settled down beside him. “I think that went about as badly as it could have,” Adrien said triumphantly.
He had left his phone behind, and it buzzed from its place on his night stand.
