God only knows the thoughts that you inspire in me, and he will surely condemn me for them.

'Don't call me 'wife' as if that absolves you of the sin you send me. Though I suppose I should thank you for one thing; now that I know I can pleasure myself I have no need for you. You're free to move on to your next plaything and have fun tormenting her. I will welcome the reprieve from your letters."

Soap smiles to himself, he can almost hear your pouting. As if he'd ever want anyone else. Poor thing, who told you you weren't enough for him? It certainly wasn't Soap. Miraculous Movie Review (Rating: 4/10)

I watched the preview of the Awakening movie yesterday and really want to share my honest review. There’s going to be several things that I’ll criticize. So be warned!

Also: Spoilers!! DON’T read it if you haven’t seen it yet. This is my personal opinion. So please stay excited for it!! 🐞🪄

First of all, my overall rating for this movie is a 4/10. Just yesterday I was ready to give it a 5/10, but quickly noticed it had much more things that upset me than I initially realized when walking out of the movie.

I know it’s a pretty low rating coming from such a huge fan like myself, but that’s probably the main issue. I’m a big fan of the show, so changes in lore and characterization will be more apparent to me. For better or for worse, in this case, mostly for worse.

On the first glimpse the movie seems like a retelling - a soft reboot, if you will - of show’s origin story. The plot goes much further than that however, as it also provides a conclusion in form of a final battle with Hawkmoth as well as an identity reveal of our two main heroes.

In order to ensure the entire premise fits into a 90 minute movie, a lot of things regarding the shows lore were simplified. I say that as a neutral statement seeing as a simplification can be either a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your opinion of the source material.

Personally, it left me rather unsatisfied but I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start with the good things!

One of the things I really enjoyed was the animation! Seeing miraculous with such a high production value certainly felt like a cool summer breeze. While I do prefer the original character models style wise, it was still just nice to see them in this cutesie pretty style! The locals were gagging!

Ladybug and Cat Noir were especially gorgeous!

I also really enjoyed the singing. I watched the German dub and it was very neat!

Sad to say that was pretty much how long my enjoyment lasted. Everything apart from what I’ve mentioned above was… interestingly handled… to say the least. Let me elaborate.

1. The dialogue was awful!

Truly not the biggest fan of musicals but I couldn’t wait for them to start singing just in order for them to STOP TALKING 😩!

The dialogue was so awkward and stiff. All of the characters were interacting very weirdly with each other. At times it would sound like several lines of dialogue were cut from the final version, as the characters barely acknowledged each other verbally. They didn’t talk with each other, but past each other.

Moreover, every second phrase was a very cheesy one liner. “Believe in yourself.”, “Listen to your heart.”, “stronger together”. Super overdone.

The movie wanted to be inspirational so bad, it forgot to be genuine.

Some examples that I recall from memory:

“Mom, I don’t have any friends and I’m scared to go I school.”

“Just believe in yourself, Marinette.”

“Okay, thanks.”

Or.

“Tikki, I’m in love with Adrien.”

“Listen to your heart, Marinette.”

“My heart……Adrien.”

2. How did they manage to make Ladynoir banter … weird and uncomfortable to watch?

Don’t let these pretty movie shots fool you because Movie!ladynoir spent their time in a constant roasting competition that they were somehow both losing!

Not once did they manage to establish that flirty and charming atmosphere around them. No, they were draaaagging each other through filth. And maybe it could have been somewhat fun, god knows I love couples that can roast each other. If only the dialogue was better and didn’t reek of “we have no idea how young people interact”.

In a desperate attempt to make jokes, they let Chat call LB a sidekick or watermelon in every. single. scene. To say that it got annoying when the jokes didn’t land the first 10 times they were made is an understatement. No Milady, no Bugginette, no little wink or a kiss on the hand. Only watermelon and sidekick. Them talking in weird cut off phrases. With careless whisper playing in the background.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some beautiful moments. But their beauty can only ever do so much when met with weird pacing, dialogue and characterization. I’ll talk about that last part in a minute.

3. Everything was so on-the-nose.

The characters would constantly say how they feel and what they think aloud. Jeremy didn’t trust us with even an ounce of media literacy. Classic case of always telling, never showing. Not to mention the constant inspirational quoting in a desperate attempt to convey some deep message. Is this a movie script or my moms facebook page? I guess we‘ll never know.

4. Characterization: Marinette

Having Marinette be somewhat scatterbrained but overall still respected by her peers is not inspirational enough! Make her your average teenage outcast and a total loser. Dad, you’re embarrassing me in front of the cool kids!

If you enjoy that kind of characterization that’s okay! Personally, I thought it was very cliche. It just.. didn’t do anything for her as a character. Having her start off at a much „lower” point in life, with almost no support system, only makes her coming of age journey to eventually become a self accepting confident heroine take longer. Seeing as the movie is only 90 minutes, the moment we see her “shine” is when it’s all almost over.

5. Ladybug …?

Did I mention Ladybug doesn’t use her lucky charm? Not. once. No crazy plans to show that she’s smart and creative. Just a pretty girl swinging around.

6. Adrien

I have a bit more to criticize about the characterization of Movie!Adrien.

The longer I think about it, the more it becomes apparent that they really didn’t know how to write Adrien. His personality appears inconsistent, almost like they were trying to fit him in too many roles at once. He is either extremely closed off and mysterious (even towards his friends), a comic relief character, bathing in self pity or just outright cocky. Those hoping to see his politeness and selflessness will be disappointed. This character only is ever shown to be self centered. A perfect example is how he *didn’t do anything* to be called worthy of the Black Cat Miraculous. He was just one of the „chosen ones“. When the Adrien from the series sacrificed his own freedom to help Master Fu.

Another example is how this Adrien doesn’t really see anything in Marinette. He called her strange in their first interaction and never really lost a single thought on her throughout the rest of the series. No common praises, no support, just awkwardness and not the wholesome kind. In fact, I would argue Marinette and Adrien aren’t even friends in the movie, the only interaction to suggest otherwise was slammed as a 5 second scene in a 2 minute montage.

Even if you were to suggest their bond was formed off screen. We don’t really see it ever take root. He even turned down her gift and invitation to go to the ball with her. Yes, you guessed correctly. It was because he was busy bathing in self pity over being rejected by Ladybug. Yikes.

To sum it up, this Adrien really doesn’t care about anyone but himself. Ever. They massacred my boy.

7. Chat Noir

His charming smugness as Chat Noir crossed the fine line that turned to arrogance.

Considering how Adrien was characterized, that comes as no surprise.

As mentioned in my criticism towards the dialogue and the Ladynoir dynamic, this Cat is often seen discrediting LB with unfunny jokes. The moment you see him actually appreciate Ladybug, open up to her and Woo her, it’s all overshadowed by his entitlement to her affection.

Some may argue that we see traces of such attitude in the show as well. However, in a series, Chat Noir has many redeeming qualities as well as time to grow, change and move past these flaws. And boy, move past these flaws he did. In the movie, it’s all you get. Take it or leave it.

In one scene, he even lets her think he was hurt by an Akuma in order to catch her worrying about him. It was just a short scene and most people would look past it, but I think it’s these small details that really show how these movie characters tick in comparison to the series.

8. Akumas/Hawkmoth

Just a small detail that kind of ended up taking away the enjoyment of all action scenes is how the Akumas in the movie do not have a motive. There’s just some random people that you don’t care about before their akumatization and that you won’t care about after.

Hawkmoth doesn’t make a deal with them, ask for ladybug and chat noirs miraculous in exchange for his powers, none of that.

He just makes them evil and they do evil things for shits and giggles. The movies premise doesn’t even suggest he needs the miraculous. He just needs to get close enough to Ladybug and Chat Noir to steal Tikki and Plagg.

9. The Ending

I just wanted to dip into that ending real quick. In the movie, Gabriel is redeemed when he finds out about Chat Noir being Adrien. He apologizes to him and they make up. The scene surely will make people emotional, but from my perspective it was all rather predictable.

Whether or not Gabe was worthy of a redemption in the movie is a topic to discuss on its own. Personally, I was okay with it.

What I found more interesting however was…

10. The reveal

This is the moment most people have been waiting and yearning for. And I may sound a bit smug when I say that the movie served a good purpose to show us that a fast reveal would have never ever been satisfying!

It was super underwhelming because - of course it was!

Marinette and Adrien barely had a connection! For all we know they could have been total strangers and their reaction to each other’s identity wouldn’t have been any different than what we saw in the movie.

We never saw Marichat or Ladrien interact either. So that certainly lead to a less explored dynamics. Cue unsatisfying reveal.

They really tried to make it this big emotional final moment, but really? We just saw Ladybug and Chat Noir lean in for a kiss without their masks. Like in a new fit. Nothing really groundbreaking came out of it.

Any fake reveal in the show was better than that and I mean it with every fiber of my being.

And don’t even get me started on how Adrien only ever noticed Marinette when she revealed to be Ladybug. It’s just not it.

Final thoughts.

There’s sooo many more things that I could elaborate on but I think for now I’ve said enough to support my rather poor rating of the movie.

In my opinion, the movie relies too much on people enjoying the source material while trying to be its own thing. It risks leaving everyone unsatisfied.

Those who watch the movie as a stand-alone are met with weird dialogue as well as plot, characters and dynamics that aren’t at all fleshed out.

Meanwhile those who watch the movie because they like the show will be inevitably comparing the movie to its far superior source material.

I do see you managing your finances/material life/academics/work/business etc efficiently. Finally resting, recharging and looking after your well being too.

At some point you'll encounter someone unlikely who will feel like a guiding star to you and might end up being a friend, a muse, a mentor or lover and if you're lucky, all of them in one person.

You have courage but you also have Intuition and foresight, trust it, use it. So that the joy you feel and what you celebrate next, fills your soul not just your glass.

HELLO I am very excited for this project! I wanted to express a concern though…it’s rather hard to find the any info on the project aside from what’s on the blog (which isn’t…very much information wise) I’m not sure if that’s an intentional decision…

I know when I first found the info I….kind of didn’t believe this?? That sounds odd. I suppose what I mean is, it didn’t seem the most legit. I did digging through the blog, read all the links, searched for a Twitter and YouTube accounts and had a hard time doing that as well…Simply because there is very little information on it. Which there’s nothing wrong with…I was wanting to suggest (as an outsider) that you and your team put more announcements/ marketing into this…?

I REALLY hope to see this project grow, it’s absolutely deserved, and very few people seem to know about it. I’d hate that to be something people miss out on. I don’t really expect an answer on this but I thought I should share the concern as an outside perspective. 💛

I really hope this project is going well for you and that it gets the deserved recognition as it’s coming out!!! So excited!!!

I'm so happy that people share the same excitement and concern for the series. Also, the fact that you guys think it's worthy of success Is truly inspiring! I think it's time I SAY something though about my current situation.

TL;DR - Our team basically went inactive after the summer; everyone returned to their lives and I'm the only one who can keep up with the project unconditionally. I didn't mean to dishearten you guys! It's a pain in the ass to work alone - excluding voice actors and SFX producers. The OUTBREAK blog will change entirely, it will be used for info and marketing. This blog will just be general art created by me (&no-namestuff). I will continue to work on the series independently, but I'll definitely give out more info as requested and make things more legit whenever I can!

Over the summer, a group of us began working on the project together, but as most of my friends returned to school and their regular lives, it became almost impossible to keep going. Currently, only a few are available to help, but they're too busy.

I didn't want to worry anyone by saying that it's basically just me working on the project; it's tough to balance animating, scripting, marketing, planning, publishing, AND funding by myself. Over time it (advertising and insightful communication) just became indifferent to me, I even considered going silent for a while until I had a mother-load of progress, but that's really not fair.

The project was a bit of a mess when we started. We didn't plan on making it a big deal, my animations were half-assed and incomprehensible; I barely knew how to work Adobe and could barely even pay it off, the sound was going to be recorded via iPhone, the script wasn't even halfway done, and voice actors weren't thought of until the Prologue. After more than six months of work, Verse 1-4 (or 6?) was deleted because of issues with the file.. this really drew the line for everyone.

So here I am, despite everything; I revised the script, which is barely halfway done, redesigned the characters, read more into the multiversal conundrums of AUs and UNDERTALE, built a portfolio, studied poses for the action scenes — and there’s still a lot that I have to learn. I'm working on Q&As, asks, and the teaser / test / project animations. I don't want people to be confused or hesitant, so I appreciate you a lot for reminding me of this. As requested, I will provide additional details about the project too :) !

No-Name's theme is in progress (thanks to Synth Mints), I've invested heavily in software for good quality animations, talented voice actors from this fandom (some you might even know) have agreed to voice for me - I'm extremely grateful for their help. Even if it takes years to release an episode or pilot, I'm still excited about the outcome. Who knows, I might even have a genuine team by then! :D

aw geez sorry for the whole bit-life story, I'm just trying to shed some light on the situation for you all. I do care, I want everyone to know that, it's just hard work.

Best Underrated Shows

Saving Me

Saving Me is about a lonely old guy who invents a time machine so he can go back to his child self and fix all his past mistakes. I learned about this show from this video titled Watch THIS instead of Hailey's On It by M!n!mal M!ss Art. Despite this video, I was still very excited to watch Hailey's On It. It seemed like a story with a cool premise and cute art style (and ultimately I do really like the show) But Hailey's On It wasn't gonna be out for weeks when I came across this video and this video really sold me on giving Saving Me a try. I never would have even heard of this show without that youtube video which would have been a real shame because Saving Me is fantastic! I hope this show reaches more people and I'm dying for a season 3!!!!!

House of Anubis

Mystery is my favorite genre and House of Anubis is chuck full of it. I used to be obsessed with this show back in high school. I had so much fun coming up with theories and live-blogging my thoughts and opinions about each new episode. Some of the acting & dialogue could be a little cringe sometimes but the story is just so good that it doesn't matter. I've heard that Het Huis Anubis (the Dutch version of the show that House of Anubis is based on) is even better, though I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Over the Garden Wall

Those of us who have seen Over the Garden Wall seem to agree that this show is amazing! Which makes it feel a little weird to call it underrated. But it seems like so few people have actually seen it. Maybe because it was a mini series, it couldn't reach the same level of popularity as other shows of similar quality. If you like Gravity Falls, you'll likely enjoy Over the Garden Wall as well. (Wirt is even voiced by the same guy who voiced Dipper!) I would highly recommend anyone that hasn't seen it already.

Dead End: Paranormal Park

I feel like it's pretty rare for animated series to exist in the horror genre for some reason. It truly is an untapped market. But if you love horror and animation, Dead End is the show for you! (Of course it's kid friendly horror since the target audience is children) The two main characters, Barney and Norma get jobs at a haunted park and work together to fight ghosts and demons. Dead End has a super cute animation style, in my opinion, and a very diverse set of characters. I encourage everyone to watch it!

Just Add Magic

Just Add Magic is based on a children's book by the same name. It's a show about three girls who love to cook and basically discover that they can use cooking to do magic. It's a pretty interesting take on how magic works in their universe. It's very fun to watch. All of the actors are also so talented! And one of those actors is Zach Callison (the voice of Steven Universe)!

The friendship between the trio is awe-inspiring! They have so much chemistry. It's a pretty fun watch.

The Last Kids On Earth

Based on a comic of the same name, this show is about a group of kids who have to survive on their own when a zombie apocalypse breaks out. And other various creatures start to threaten them (or even become their allies) It's basically a cute found family story. The premise is pretty simplistic but that's what I love about it. The animation style of The Last Kids On Earth is so beautiful as well!

I'm still waiting for a season 3!!!!!

Code Lyoko

I remember as a kid being aware of this show and thinking it looked kind of interesting (and I always loved the theme song!!) but I never ended up watching it back then because I let peer pressure get the better of me. I remember I met someone who brought up how much they loved the show. When I heard them express that interest, I was at first excited to ask them more but before I had the chance, everyone else started making fun of him for liking Code Lyoko.

I guess it was like the nerd show or something? I don't really know why it was considered cringe to like Code Lyoko but upon seeing my peers act this way, I decided I can't like Code Lyoko if I want to fit in. So, I avoided watching it. But earlier this year, when I was flipping through channels, they were showing old episodes of Code Lyoko! I was intrigued since I remembered it from childhood and thought I'd actually give it a chance this time. And it's actually a pretty good show! It can be slow at times but overall I enjoy it.

If you're like me and avoided watching this back then due to peer pressure, I highly recommend leaving that in the past and just letting yourself enjoy this show!!

Slugterra

Slugterra is honestly pretty similar to Pokemon, except it's slugs! And the entire series takes place underground. Basically, there's a whole underground world called Slugterra, home to slugs, trolls, moles, etc. And all the slugs have cool powers so the people collect & befriend slugs so they can use them as weapons ("slugslinging"). If you like Pokemon, you're sure to like Slugterra!

Detentionaire

I discovered Detentionaire randomly while I was searching through Amazon's library of cartoons. I was looking for a new show to watch and just stumbled upon this one. It looked pretty interesting and I was surprised to see it was a show from 2011. I don't know how I missed this show back then. Idk if maybe it only aired in Canada or something? (cuz it's a Canadian show) But anyways, Detentionaire is such an intriguing show where the main character, Lee, discovers some grand conspiracy and has to try to expose it to prove his innocence so he can get out of detention. It's such an interesting concept. And, as I mentioned earlier, mystery is my favor genre, so I had a lot of fun with this one.

The only problem though is, of course, it ends on a cliffhanger. The show got canceled before they had the chance to conclude the story in a satisfying way (or any type of way) so watch at your own risk.

Catscratch

I honestly don't even remember what this show was about but I do remember enjoying this show and being excited when I saw a new episode was out. I remember thinking it was so funny. I just don't think enough people know about this show.

Description

the most deadly and historically known terror of the sea other than the Kraken. Thought to be extinct. Until you came along. From another world where merfolk exist along with more ancient forms of sea life. Your mer form is a startling 47 feet long, rendering you the size of a whale. Many who saw your mer form believed you to be a whale, until they saw your many rows of gigantic sharp teeth. Your jaws are a bit larger than normal and you have a scary bite force, able to bite through steel if you really tried.

Your human form is an intimidating 8 ft tall. With a shark toosh smile similar to the tweel's smiles, you just have multiple rows of teeth. a rather prominent jaw to house your impressive bite and larger strong limbs to show that you are an apex predator. Anyone who tried to mess with you would come beaten and bruised, maybe a broken bone and a bite mark if they truly pissed you off.

Octavinelle

Azul: Honestly thought you weren't that smart due to how you acted more like a cliche jock. Tried to trick you into working for him as a bouncer and waiter due to your impressive size and strength keeping many in line. Unfortunately for him, you knew of his shady dealings and gave him a piece of your mind. Over time he started to work his way into being a friend of yours. He was also the only one more than happy to serve you so much food, you ate a horrifying amount that would make most buffets struggle after you left. asks to have some of your teeth if you shed/lose any so he can sell them, gives you 40% of the profit. Congratulates you on being a part of Mostro lounge's first official merch, the megalodon tooth necklace!

When he first encountered your mer form he nearly inked himself at your huge size! You're the size of a whale with the abilities and cunningness of a great white shark! you teased him a bit at how bite-sized he and the twins are compared to you, but you've grown soft for them so they can stay around.

Overall he's fairly scared of you for good reason. Eventually gets you to work for mostro lounge as a bouncer and a merch supplier in return for you getting large meals that would make any competitive eater gawk in awe.

Jade: Finds you so fascinating and asks many questions of what other animals are common in your world but extinct in this one. At first, he is rather annoying to you, like a dolphin that wouldn't leave you alone. Of course over time he is able to find and connect with you over interests in the world above the sea. Despite your large size, you enjoy the hikes through the mountains with him and the trivia he shares. You enjoy the texture of wood and like biting large branches in half for the fun of it.

When he first encountered your mer form he was in awe. Carefully circling you and feeling every part you allowed him to. the way he liked to cling to the underside of your right fin reminded you of the large remoras that liked to accompany you back home. you humar his questions and if he tried to vagly threaten you or annoys you enough with questions you easily fling him out of the water.

Overall, he is interested in you and your powerful jaws' abilities. Collects your teeth after experiments for the lounge and tries to find something for you to safely chew on other than old tree branches. asks too many questions for your liking but oh well.

Floyd: Called you "Sharkie" at first because you acted like a big tough shark he knew once. Likes to climb you due to your large stature. laughs when you throw him off. Also likes it when you chase him because he tried to bite you. You're so much fun to play and mess around with! once he is told what you are he calls you either "megalodon" or "mega shark".

When he first saw your merform was one of the few times he was entirely still around you. There are very few things that are larger than him and jade other than some whales and they are harmless compared to you now. When you smirk at him he zooms around you. Asking excitedly if you were a megalodon. you say yes with pride and he immediately tries to steal a tooth. able to get one just before you try to bite him in half. initiates lots of chasing games, usually, you chasing after him. Over time you find it rather fun, sometimes catching him gently in your jaws. Azul fainted one time when he witness you doing this. Jade looked about ready to murder before floyd happily wiggled out from between your jaws.

Overall, you're super fun to play with and he loves the danger adrenaline high you give him when you chase him in either form. also tried to do a biting competition but stoped when he chipped a tooth.

Days had passed since your brother's funeral and the attack of the sky people on your clan, the Tawkami.

Lo’ak had refused to leave your side throughout the entirety of Kelu’s funeral, paying his respects to your brave little brother as he gently wiped away the tears running down your raw cheeks, trying his best to comfort you.

When your parents caught wind of your brother's unfortunate death, they had a much colder reaction than yours. Your Father, the Olo’eyktan, had buried himself in his duties and in aiding others in attempts to salvage the parts that were left of their beloved home. Your Mother, the Tsahìk, had busied herself with healing the wounded and tending to the elderly. So that left you with the funeral preparations for your deceased brother.

You had been distant and cold towards the others in your life, paying them no mind as you scrambled to make your little brother's funeral perfect. You had to give him a perfect sending off to the Great Mother. You’d accept nothing short of it.

Lo’ak had noticed your sunken eyes and paling cerulean skin whenever you appeared out from your family’s tent, which was rarely. He was worried. He felt extremely worried that you were driving yourself to the bone, giving yourself no time to eat or sleep. It was evident what you were doing to yourself and due to that, Lo’ak felt immense guilt. If only the Sully family has gone past the reefs and seeked uturu from the Metkayina clan instead of the Tawkami. Maybe then your precious brother would still be here, alive and breathing instead of six feet underneath the base of your Home Tree. Maybe then you wouldn’t be in the position you were in now, overworking yourself as your parents neglected you at every turn.

Lo’ak had whispered reassuring words to you as your Mother performed your clans funeral ritual, voice shaking as she did so. He wanted to make sure that you knew he was going to be there for you even if you hated him at the moment. That no matter what, he was going to be there to aid you in picking back up the pieces of your broken, grieving heart.

You pretended that Lo’ak didn’t exist. Ignoring him whenever he brought you a warm piece of yerik that he caught and cooked up for dinner, leaving it outside your tent. Switching the direction you were walking in when he just so happened to be walking towards you, smile on his face before you swerved out of his way. Avoiding eye contact during your clans weekly gathering, watching as the others freely danced in front of you in choice of not meeting Lo’ak’s persistent gaze on the side of your head.

All of your actions were purposeful. You truly didn’t want to see him. But not for the reason he thinks.

You felt awful for reacting the way you did when he tried to comfort you that fateful day, but you had lost the other half of your heart and needed something to blame. And Lo’ak was the one you lashed out at.

A part of you did mean your words, believing that Jake Sully should’ve fought back instead of run, unnecessarily dragging you and your clan into his war. He should’ve never asked uturu from the Tawkami and now all of you were paying the price for it. You resented Jake for causing all this pain and suffering to those who didn’t deserve it. Who offered up their home for him and his family. Who protected him and those he loved. And what did you get in return for your kindness? A dead brother and half a home.

Another part of you knew that your words were just that, words. No true meaning behind the insults you spat. Again, you needed someone to be mad at and Lo’ak was the first person you saw. This part was mad at you, at yourself. Mad that you took your eyes off of Kelu while trying to gather all the children you could to safety. Angry that you didn’t think to take him with you first. Angry that you didn’t find him faster. Angry that he was dead and you weren’t. You should be in his place. In the soil of your home as your clanspeople chanted your song chord and guided you into the hands of Eywa. Maybe then, if you had been the one to die instead of Kelu, your parents wouldn’t mind as much. Wouldn’t sulk as much or wouldn’t ignore your brother in hopes of burying away the pain.

You knew that some part of your parents had wished that it was you instead of Kelu. That you were six feet under instead of their only son. They had always preferred him over you, not that you minded much. You preferred Kelu over you too. But that didn’t mean that it didn’t hurt any less. That your suffering wasn’t as much as theirs. Kelu was of your blood. You both had the same metallic substance coursing through your veins. He was your brother first before he was theirs.

You had visited him many nights via the Tree of Souls of your clan. You never missed one, often skipping dinner to see him even if it was for a brief moment.

“(Y/N), look! I did it!” A familiar voice screeched out in excitement, jumping up and down from their feat.

Most of the memories you saw consisted of Kelu when he was younger, them often being of you teaching him something or him coming to you whenever he couldn’t sleep and begged you to sing him to his slumber. This night wasn’t an exception.

Kelu spent weeks trying to convince you to teach him how to use a bow way before both of your parents deemed him old enough to start training with you. Obviously, you couldn’t say no when he approached you one night crying about it, pleading for you to teach him. You gave in once he looked up into your eyes with his wide, amber puppy dog orbs. He was only nine then.

“Good job, tsmukan,” you exclaimed, ruffling his hair in a teasing manner.

He had hit some part of the makeshift target you made, his previous attempts unsuccessful and landing in various places amongst the grass and bushes. The arrow wasn’t embedded into the bright red dot in the middle of the circular target, lodged nearly into the edge. It was his first successful attempt at shooting the arrow at the target and making it. Albeit that fact, he was over the moon about what he did. Excitement shook through his body.

Kelu wrapped his arms around your waist, head barely coming to the middle of your ribcage, burying his face into the flat of your stomach with a wide grin on his face. “Thank you so much, tsmuke. You’re the best teacher ever!” He giddily yelled out, practically shaking with excitement.

Your heart dropped to your stomach, tears pricking at your waterline as you brought younger Kelu into your abdomen. You dearly missed your brother. The warmth of his hug from the memory felt so real. You often found yourself questioning what was real and what wasn’t during your visits with Kelu, struggling to decipher if it was reality.

“What’s wrong, oeyä tsmuke?” Kelu asked, now up to your clavicle, his nine-year-old form no longer as it was replaced with his most recent thirteen-year-old body.

He always rubbed it in your face that he was most likely going to be taller than you once he reached of age, proud that he at least surpassed you in something. Kelu thought the highest of you. Viewing you as the golden child of the family. You naturally excelled at everything you did, being the top warrior of your age group. He wanted to be just like you. Shine in the same light that your parents bestowed upon you from your birth. To be honest, he lacked a lot of skills that was expected of a Tawkami warrior, struggling to keep up with the other children his age. So to be so close to being better, or in this case, taller than you, he took pride in it as he flaunted it to you every chance he got. This was the only thing that he ‘beat’ you at.

“Nothing my dear tsmukan,” you whispered, putting your hand on Kelu’s cheek and softly stroked the patch of skin with the pad of your thumb, “There’s no need to worry.”.

You were almost certain that Kelu was ignorant to the fact that he was dead. You didn’t want to voice your thoughts and ruin the experience your brother was experiencing within Eywa. He deserved to continue on blissfully in his afterlife and not worry over how you coped after his death. He deserved peace.

He didn’t seem too convinced at your words, brow bones pulling together in a furrow. But he quickly let it go, burrowing himself back into your arms, face resting in the crook of your neck. You didn’t know if he did it to comfort you or just because he wanted to be in the warm embrace of your arms but you didn’t complain, wrapping your arms around his shoulders and pulled him further into your figure. You missed hugging Kelu. Missed his healing hugs and comforting words. You missed him with your whole being that every bone in your body longed to be within the consciousness of the Great Mother twenty-four-seven.

You pulled yourself out of the memory when you heard your name being distantly called, knowing who it was.

“Yes, Lo’ak?” You numbly asked, robotically pulling your queue away from the glowing tendril of your clans Tree of Souls. You really didn’t want to interact with the Omatikaya boy, but you knew you should. A part of you called out to be comforted by him. To be pulled into his arms and be gently reassured that everything was going to be okay and that he will never leave your side for as long as he breathed.

Lo’ak stopped in his tracks upon hearing your response to his calling, surprised that you knew it was him. But you’d always know. You practically memorized everything about the boy. You could tell how he felt by the twitch of his eyebrows to what he was thinking by the way he shifted from foot to foot as his tail softly twitched from side to side. The tone of his voice was something you dedicated to memory very early on in befriending him.

“Have you eaten yet, tiyawn?” He asked, kneeling by your side as he placed his five fingered hand onto the side of your head that was closest to him, gently scratching your braids and scalp.

He hadn’t seen you since this morning. You brushed past him without a second glance, making your way deep into the deep forest that was untouched by the sky peoples fire. He knew that you were frequently visiting your brother at the tree, often ignoring the need for water and food, spending hours upon hours at the glowing Spirit Tree. He was worried that you didn’t eat yet. Worried that you were indirectly killing yourself as punishment for your brother's death.

Your silence is his answer, making him deeply inhale as he moved closer to your figure, fingers still moving against your scalp.

“You should eat, baby,” he mumbled, trying to get you to look back at him as he lowered his face to meet your gaze, “Don’t have to eat everything, can be just one bite.”.

You knew he was right but you couldn’t bring yourself to stomach the thought of eating anything. Your appetite had greatly diminished following Kelu’s funeral. Your body was too consumed with grief to hold anything down or barely even chew for that matter. But you would be willing to try. Try for Lo’ak.

You nodded your head in response to Lo’ak’s words, leaning into the boys side. Your head gently laid on his shoulder and his arm wrapped around your waist, hand resting against your hip bone.

Everything was quiet for a couple of beats, the sounds of the forest echoing throughout the area. Until Lo’ak spoke up.

“I’m sorry, yawne,” he whispers, voice slightly cracking at the truthfulness behind his words, “I’m so sorry that you had to experience that. That your home was destroyed. That the sky demons hurt you. I should’ve done better at protecting you from my Fathers sins.”.

His words made your heart stop, causing you to pull your head from his shoulder to turn towards him, an unreadable expression painted across your face.

Your heart sunk at his confession. You knew that your prior words to him days before may have had something to do with it. You may have meant it in the moment but you no longer believed them to be true. Lo’ak shouldn’t protect you from his Fathers sins no more than you could protect him from your own Fathers. It shouldn’t be his responsibility.

“It is not your fault, Ma Lo’ak,” you mumbled, bringing your left hand up to rest on his cheek, “It is not your responsibility to protect me from your Fathers past. It is him who should protect you from it, fight it,” you finish, him melting at finally feeling your touch after being deprived from it for days.

“I am sorry that my words had affected you as much as they did, my yawntutsyip,” you added, kissing the tip of his nose in reassurance, “I was…so angry and needed to blame something. I know it doesn’t excuse what I said to you. I’m glad you came into my life when you did, even with the consequences that followed.”.

Tears fell from Lo’ak eyes. This was the most you had talked to him since you dismissed him the night of your brother's death. He desperately missed the sound of your voice.

“There’s no need to apologize, my txe’lan,” he replied, bringing your face into his hands as his lips met yours in a gentle kiss. Your lips moved in tandem together, hands going up to grasp whatever body part was closest. He was the first one to pull away from the kiss, not wanting to leave the warmth of your lips against his, “I understand. I just wished that I could’ve protected you from that kind of hurt. You do not deserve that kind of pain,” he continued, resting his forehead against yours.

You didn’t reply to his reassuring words, pulling your lover into a searing kiss, pouring all of your love and affection you held for Lo’ak into the action. You felt guilty for avoiding him for days and that you possibly caused him immense hurt from your words. You wanted him to know that you felt regretful for how you acted.

A soft chuckle fell from Lo’ak lips as they slotted against yours, bringing you even closer by pulling you in by his hands on your face. He knew to take what you had said and how you acted with a grain of salt. He knew that you truly didn’t mean what you said. That you were too overcome with grief to properly think. He was sympathetic towards your situation and tried to understand what you were going through. He would’ve acted the same way if he lost one of his siblings the way you did. He thought you were strong for continuing on even after the traumatic death of your brother. He couldn’t imagine him doing the same if he were in your shoes.

You were the one to pull away from the kiss this time, breathing deeply and heavily as you did so.

“We’ll get through this together. Yeah?” Lo’ak muttered, stroking your jaw with his thumb as he gazed at you through heavy lidded eyes. He wanted to help you in your healing journey and he’d help in any way he could.

You only nodded in response to his words, eyes closing at the repetitive soothing motion of Lo’ak’s thumb on your skin.

You knew that with time, you’d heal and the pain would be easier to deal with, especially if you had Lo’ak by your side. Nothing is ever too broken to be fixed or mended back together and Lo’ak would be there to pick up the pieces if you ever fell back into this state again.

Seeing your latest fairy tale post and some misconceptions about fairy tales, I’m interested to see your perspective on how they portray love cause lots of people believe it to be not of much substance

Not much substance? The love that sends a woman east o' the sun and west o' the moon in search of her beloved? The love that wears through seven pairs of iron shoes? The love that makes seven nettle-shirts while keeping silent for seven years? The love that sends a prince through brambles that that have killed dozens of men before him? Fairy tales contain some of the most awe-inspiring examples of true, substantial love--romantic, platonic, and familial--that one can imagine, and anyone who thinks otherwise has not read far enough into the genre.

Perhaps these people are referring to commonly-known Cinderella types of tales, where a prince falls madly in love with a woman after one night of dancing, and we are meant to believe that this is a solid-enough foundation for a lifetime of happiness. How could he truly love her? Isn't it more likely he's been blinded by her beauty? No, because these too-literal takes forget that Cinderella's appearance in a dazzling gown is a revelation of her true self; the interior beauty that has been hidden by her stepmother's efforts to keep her enslaved as a soot-covered, rag-wearing servant is now put on full display, clad in silk and jewels as such beauty deserves to be. Often in fairy tales, beauty equates with goodness, not because beauty is good, but because goodness is beautiful. It is this beauty, exterior and interior, that the prince can now recognize and fall in love with, and a love built upon a foundation that clearly sees the interior self can be as lasting and true as love built upon years of acquaintance.

Or maybe these skeptics are talking about the many tales in which a husband or wife is merely a reward for success in the hero's endeavors, just another piece of the happily-ever-after, a love that we're supposed to believe in just because we're told it exists. But how is this different from any of the other unbelievable things in the story? In fairy tales, we don't expect things to happen like they do in the real world. Animals talk, monsters eat children, strangers hand out magical gifts that work upon arbitrary rules. We don't question these things, merely marvel at them. Things happen because they happen, and we don't need to understand more than that. It's a very childlike approach that doesn't wonder why or how, but just plain wonders at the marvelous news that it happened at all. If the story tells us that the couple lived happily-ever-after, who are we to doubt the truth of the tale? Why can we believe that the ogre can turn into a mouse, that the cloak can make a man invisible, or that the boots can travel seven leagues in one stride, but doubt that the love between husband and wife can last through a lifetime? Why is human fidelity the one miracle that we doubt? Fairy tales are a genre that asks for innocence--for child-like trust that the story happened the way they said it did. As marvelous and unbelievable as it sounds to the skeptical ears of adults, love can last a lifetime, whether a couple has known each other for a few hours or a few decades, if they choose to keep loving each other every day of their lives. If the story tells me it happened, I am more than happy to believe it was so.

Preparing for the special occasion, I started thinking up of what I could draw for him and Ron this year...🤔And then I thought, ‘I know! I could draw an AU where I am a well-loved pop idol, just like BroZone and I am performing specially for Cooper on his birthday, whilst he totally yet adorably fanboys over me!’ 💡😀 I did just that and...WOW!!😲It turned out even more amazing and eye-catching as I hoped and planned~!💖🤩💖I am so pleased of how I got me and Cooper's poses spot on from what I had in mind~💗😍And yep! Before anyone asks...that IS a BroZone-inspired jacket I've got on!😆(Peach colour~✨🍑) I just had to add that for my Pop Idol AU look, along with singing the Spice Girls' 'Spice Up Your Life'~ (a late 90's hit from my childhood)🎶🎤😚 I feel my style here was a cute combination of the Trolls movies and TrollsTopia, whilst I aimed to combine the background of my performance on stage with Cooper's dreamy vision as he's truly awe(love)struck over me, bless him~💗🥰Hehe~!🤭And of course, I gave our darling birthday prince a 'Cupcake King' theme to his party hat, because he is one - my Cupcake King~🩷♛🧁😉 Hope you all like too, dears!💕✨😊👍🏻I really enjoyed making this piece, especially for Ron and my beloved sweet jellybean, Cooper~💗🫶🏻U//w//U💘

Bucchigiri Finale Thoughts

So I watched Episode 12 earlier today and had some time to think things over. And unfortunately, I realized that I didn't like this episode very much. Granted there are a good amount of moments that I did enjoy and contributed well to the main themes of the series. But there were too many moments that I felt undercut my enjoyment of the show. So fair warning, a lot of what I have to say is fairly critical and kinda negative. If you agree or disagree with anything I've said here, feel free to reblog this with your own comments. And if you're not into negativity, feel free to ignore this.

But I will start by mentioning the things I did like.

Just like everyone and their gyoza-making mothers, I loved the final fight scenes. The choreography was well executed and I thought the animation was top notch, both when it came to Senya vs Ichiya and Arajin vs Matakara. I really liked how in depth they went with the fighting sequences and the dark colors fit really well with the tone of the drama of the scene. The emotional range between the fighters felt incredible; the actors truly gave it their all when going about their fights.

And the part with Arajin mustering the power to save Matakara was beautifully done. I was in awe when Arajin brought up how Matakara became the very monster he tried desperately to destroy which really got a crack on his defenses. The sequence of Arajin reaching out to Matakara's inner child to help him out of his despair was gorgeous. Especially since Ara-chan used the Friendship Stone both to help the inner child and later when telling his old friend that he's not alone anymore. That was really great and genuine character growth, especially since Arajin accepted that he was in the wrong for leaving him all the time.

And as I mentioned in an earlier post, I did love the first scene with Arajin meeting Matakara for the first time. But as a twist, it was Arajin who was inspired by Matakara's dedication to being a Honki Person and volunteered himself to train alongside his new friend. That was a great twist and it adds new depths to how Arajin was actually inspiried by his old friend and not the other way around like we believed for so long.

So those were the parts that I genuinely enjoyed. Now for the parts I didn't really like..

On one hand, while it is nice that Zabu wasn't brutally beaten to subconsciousness, I do kiinda wish that he did have to be hospitalized. It just feels so off-putting how he's relatively okay despite being brutally mauled by Matakara only a few hours ago. Especially since Marito and Kenichirou wound up in the hospital after losing to Matakara. Plus I feel like it undercuts the drama and severity of the situation by having Zabu be fine enough to look for Matakara. It doesn't help that he and Komao don't really do much apart from running around trying to find their friend.

Also, I hope I'm not the only one but did anyone else feel uncomfortable with this scene?

I understand that Mahoro did it in a desperate bid to bring her brother back but the way she described Kenichirou here was just... gross.

Not insane, not weird, not quirky, not even ridiculous.

It was just gross for me to see her dehumanize one of the few dark skinned characters on the show. Even if he's not black/black coded, it still rubs me the wrong way that she would say those things so casually. Especially since Japan can be really casual when it comes to making racist/offensive remarks to brown skinned people in it's media. Plus there are tons of other ways she could have referred to him without calling him a gorilla. Like meathead, blockhead, oaf, ogre. Any other insult could have worked and been more acceptable than the ape insult. And it's unfortunately consistent since she did call him a gorilla during the Gang War Arc.

And then there's this part...

I don't know if it was Mahoro's doing or if that's what the original nurses did, but it was just uncalled for. Both for the unspoken racism and for how it doesn't even apply to Kenichirou's character. Out of the three banchos, he's always been the least violent and was always shown to be tranquil and easy to work with, unlike Marito and Akutaro who were more unhinged, wild and violent in comparison. There shouldn't be any reason for him to behave so violently that the staff would resort to shackling him like an animal. Especially given how defeated he looked when Matakara beat him in a fight.

Another reason why I dislike this scene is because the characters involved (Mahoro, Marito, Kenichirou) do nothing to contribute to the final duel between Arajin and Matakara. None of these characters actually show up until the end when Matakara apologizes to everyone. You could have made it so that during the apology scenes, the two gang leaders could have shown up while covered in bandages or crutches. There really isn't a need to show us Marito waking up since we could get that later on in the end with Matakara apologizing to Siguma Squad.

The same can be argued for Zabu, Komao, Outa, Jabashiri and Hagure. Even though they spend most of their time hunting down Matakara and Arajin, they don't exactly contribute to the final duel or offer any words to the main heroes. They just show up and the duo resolve their problem like nothing.

Regarding Ichiya's secret of him dying, while it's not the worst reason for him to be so insistent on fighting Senya, I do wish there was more build up or at least some hints to it. It just feels like a random reason for why Ichiya developed his grudge against Senya. It's not the worst reason and it does make sense for why he wanted to die like a Honki Person instead of to a random illness, it just leaves a bad taste to how it happened to him out of randomness.

And wow, Arajin is never going to overcome the internet hating him for being a perverted simp mc.

In a way, it makes some sense since Arajin's character arc was never about respecting women or learning that there's other ways to be a man apart from stealing a girl's virginity. That was never the focus as the story wanted him to confront his mistake of abandoning his old friend and not running away from his problems. That said, this still won't look good for him since fans are going to be turned off of Bucchigiri because of his perversions and how the show doesn't encourage him to change.

And as I've come to realize, the show itself doesn't seem to mind with the characters not growing out of their negative vices. A critique I have is that the show doesn't go out of it's way to challenge the beliefs of these characters or push them to grow into better people. Arajin is perfectly okay with being rude to everyone while pursuing a girl just so he can lose his virginity to her, Mahoro continues to lust over her older brother and has no interest in anything else, Marito is still a bloodthirsty bad boy who lives and breathes fighting, Kenichirou doesn't mind repeating high school as long as he gets to run Minato Kai, even Yayako prefers to act like a bubbly airhead rather then act like a responsible and respectful adult. And even with Matakara's corruption arc, he doesn't really recognize how harmful his idolization of Arajin was since the focus was more on his loneliness and trauma of being alone. Maybe because I'm spoiled by Mob Psycho 100, but it saddens me to see how these characters don't grow into better people or make an effort to change themselves. Especially since there can be potential for all of them.

And while I'm glad that Arajin and Matakara were able to become friends again, it feels like a letdown that there's no build up to it. It just rushes straight to them becoming friends again without acknowledging their negative attributes. Th same with puppy boy getting everyone to just accept him with no repercussions or consequences. It feels like letdown as there were no serious consequences for his actions. Like he could just go on a despair-induced rampage again and they'll just keep accepting him. On paper it's rather wholesome, but it does feel contrived if everything just works out without problems or how Matakara doesn't need to work hard to earn their forgiveness. That would have been for a greater character moment and to show Matakara taking responsibility for his actions. But we never see Matakara doing that and him being accepted by the gang feels rather hollow. It's technically nice that he has his friends back and that SS won't have his heart on a stick, but it feels hollow.

Speaking of taking non-responsibilities and being accepted by the gangs, Akutaro is now back with the NG Boys and they're accepting of him?

I really do wish we could have had a scene that explains how the heck he was able to win back his old gang despite them professing that they weren't going to let him beat them around like before. It just feels offputting that Akutaro is back in charge and has their respect with zero explanation or even any build up to it. He spent all his time trying out different jobs and activities but nothing to suggest that he wants to go back to his old club again.

Not to mention that this is still bad news for Minato Kai since Akutaro still has his hatred for Kenichirou and still longs to destroy him. And given how he also hasn't grown out of his negative vices, it's more than likely he'll come up with a new plan to destroy them albeit a different approach. Though the other gangs will be aware of him trying to wreak havoc on them again, I sincerely doubt that that'll stop Akutaro from having his revenge. And with the NG Boys and Girls behind his back, he definitely has a shot at it.

Then there's the resolution with the Nyan Nyaight Love segment. While it was endearing with the Receptionist wanting to help out the Customer, I'm just trying to wrap around the logic behind the Receptionist accepting him again.

It doesn't make sense to me how he'd be accepting of the guy who abducted one of your prized cats, lose her, and then just welcome him back with another cat. It's setting up a cycle for the Customer to fall in love with a new cat only for him to become obsessed with her and then try to steal the cat out of "love". And while the show focuses on him learning to lose his shame of visiting NNL, it doesn't try to challenge his dependency on cats for company along with his hostile jealousy.

Is the Receptionist aware of this potential problem and how it can happen again to another cat? Is the manager of NNL willing to accept the Customer again along with the risk of jeopardizing his business? I can't imagine how difficult it must be to promote a cat only to lose it because of a depressed nutjob.

Also, to the anon who was grossed out by Arajin's mom, I'd like to give a complete apology to you for refuting your claims. Because this...

This was not necessary.

I mean, it is interesting to know that Marito shows attraction to girls/women which gives more depth to his character. And while it is weird for him to hit on an older women, it's still technically okay since it is normal for teens/youth to show attraction to adults that catch their interest.

But what isn't okay is Yayako's reaction to his attention.

Again, she is a grown woman getting over excited because a teenage boy is trying to hit on her. And she's okay with this? Like ma'am, not only is that concerning because of the blatant age differences but you're also a married woman (according to the additional info). How are you so lenient with being hit on by a guy who could pass for your son? Like really? I used to think of Yayako as a quirky, wholesome woman who needed to not let her son treat her like trash. But now I'm seriously questioning her values and how she treats everything in her life like a soap opera.

In regards to Mitsukuni being in a coma and waking up, it was... okay. Like I'm happy that Matakara will get his big brother back and they'll be able to move into an apartment like they wanted to. But I feel that the reveal of him being in a coma undercut alot of the emotional turmoil Matakara went through. I don't know, it just feels rather hollow knowing that Mitsukuni was always there and was going to make it out alive while his little brother was running around like a war machine. It's conflicting in all honesty.

But what isn't conflicting was how much I really didn't care much for Senya returning in the last shot. I wasn't moved by Senya showing up in the last scene or how Arajin secretly missed him. Maybe it's because of how Arajin constantly yelled at him or acted like he didn't care. And while he does care in his own way, I just felt disinterested in the reunion and I had no strong emotions of Senya returning. It doesn't help that the part with Senya and Ichiya "leaving" didn't really have alot of emotional depth to make the reunion more impactful. Senya not coming back would not have me upset.

Wish Rewrite: The Somewhat Organized Version

Terrible insomnia that leaves him perpetually sleep deprived

Thus, he wishes for the strength to be able to protect the people he cares for

Due to his insomnia giving him an awful sleep schedule, he never bothered to ask his captain of the royal guard father to train him (the royal guard thing is inspired by @annymation who has a full-on written Wish Reimagined fic that yall should check out!)

Big Gentle Giant Vibes

Gabo

Still grumpy af but more in the "I love you so I will bully you affectionately, but I do have lines I will not cross"

Simple wish, to be able his friends, only once, that he's happy to have them and that he loves and cherishes them

Only once though because he knows they're going to be insufferable about it (not that he minds but y'know, he has a reputation lol)

A bit of a Mr. Captain Obvious, but his blunt nature makes it so that someone says what might need to be said

Safi

Parents are librarians (maybe the royal librarians?)

Due to his parents he is the most intellectual of the group, but emphasis on book smart

Is allergic to mainly dust

Has a deep fondness and love for animals, and the animals are the same with him in turn

If he were to ask for a wish, it would be a cure or medication for his allergies

But the wish in his heart is to be able to tell his parents that he doesn't want to follow in their footsteps. That, despite loving them so and being ever grateful for them for giving him this life in Rosas with so many opportunities, he just wants to be a simple farmer surrounded by animals

Most emotionally intelligent of the group (again, shout out to AnnyMation), but struggles with school-smarts

Doesn't desire much in life because he is happy with what he has

But he does wish to be able to articulate what he wants to say better, because he knows what his friends need to hear but he doesn't know how to say it in a way that'll truly reach them at times

Extrovert-Incarnate

Bubbly, cheery, energetic, and social

The textbook definition of an extrovert

Despite that struggles to really gauge on what others are feeling if it's not on a more positive scale

Has a crush on Bazeema (taking the idea of the two of them being an item from RaisorBlade on youtube)

Her wish is something along the lines of wanting to be able to confess to her crush and that if it goes south, their friendship doesn't change because of it

As people who read the Unorganized Version, I didn't really write much on Dahlia because I was struggling to think of something for her at the time of that wave on inspiration

Interested in potions, but is not a potion maker

Love baking and cooking as a hobby, Simon helps her when making bigger batches for events or if they both just want to surprise their friends with something nice

Most well adjusted and well-rounded of the group

Does wish that she didn't have to use a crutch because it makes doing some parts of her hobbies a bit harder

Asha

Leader of her group of friends

Level-headed and serious (was once a bubbly, starry-eyed girl who wished to make people happy)

There is not much of a shine in her eyes

Sorcerer's apprentice to Magnifico

Her father died when she was 12 (concept art notes)

She became Magnifico's apprentice a year and a day after her father passed

Her mother was never the same after her father died, like a lot of the light in her eyes was gone

Magnifico and Amaya, as guilty as she is to admit it, are sort of like parents to her after her father died and her mother changed

She could always... sense that something was just wrong with people who got their wishes taken away, something that no one could see or if they did they didn't say

But she could always tell, she sees how there's this lost look in their eyes, or the energy they once had is lost, or any passion they once had for things they loved is gone (especially if its something that could've been their wish, but that's speculation on her part)

Not too fond of the wishing system as a result, but she knows better than to disagree with the King and Queen

As Magnifico's apprentice, she's gotten to observe the wishes granted a lot more closely than others outside of Queen Amaya. She has a few notes: 1. Materialist wishes are much more likely to get granted Examples: A man once wished for the head of a magnificent beast to be mounted on his wall as a sign of his many accomplishments as the greatest hunter A woman wished for purple glass slippers that never break nor hurt her feet 2. If the wish was already in progress of being granted by the person's own merit it's also "granted" Examples: as a young girl, Asha knew a talented and hardworking chef wished to own a successful restaurant that everyone from all over the world would come to. Magnifico only "granted" the wish by magically doing the complicated process of the paper work of opening said restaurant a young couple wished for kids, as their dogs just had some pups. Magnifico "granted" their wish but the truth is that they had already conceived by then

Asha's loyalty lies with her Kingdom

Made a fake-tragic backstory about how his kingdom was ravaged by thieves as a child and destroyed and how he built Rosas so it would never happen again

His parents are the two stars in the sky, with his mom being the second star to the right!

His parents' names are Ray and Evangeline

The form that saves him the most magical energy is the little plush star form

Was summoned down from a wish in Asha's heart and a wish from her late father

Can see the wish in someone's heart, even after it's gone

Can see the void in someone's heart from where their wish would be (from the "broken wish" animatic by sarah's work)

Seeing the voids makes him so sad because he's a being made of and for wishing

A bit of stardust from him gives them the same life back as to what they were before their wish was taken

Is a firm believer in that people can grant their own wishes, and rarely do humans ever need the aid of a star in granting many of their wishes

Due to his age his magic is severely limited, as a regular star in the sky he's pretty old by human standards, but as a wishing star he's around Asha's age

He can't be on Earth forever because his time there slowly drains his powers, and while he can sort of recharge at night, it's not enough to sustain him forever, it just buys him time

He can also sort of feed off of magical energy Asha gives him

Wishing stars get their power from wishes fulfilled and wishes granted

But due to the wishes of the people of Rosas being taken away, granting them doesn't restore his energy unless it's a wish they still possess, which few do

Brothers with an MC who's a total noob at cooking. Their food isn't as bad as Solomon's but there's room for improvement. Like sometimes it's too bland or too salty. How would the brothers help MC and how would they react to seeing Solomon offer to give cooking advise to MC?

MC who is a noob at cooking

You were never that great of a cook and honestly, you made peace with that fact. You had a lot of time to improve yourself and it's not like you had to cook for other people.

Or at least that was the case until you were dragged to literal Hell, where you would have to cook for 7 other people from time to time, when you were on dinner duty.

At least you could blame your bad cooking on the fact that Devildom had an entire new list of foods and cooking styles, no one has to know that you are a noob at cooking human world food too...

Lucifer

He was aware you'll need help to get accustomed to Devildom's food, so he assigned someone to help you each time it was your time to cook.

If you want to get better he would be more than glad to tell you where you could improve with your cooking.

He catches on pretty early that you lack experience with cooking in general, not just with Devildom cooking...

No matter if you put too much seasoing or to little, he will always keep his expression neutral so you wouldn't get discourage from getting better

The only time he would comment, is if Belphegor or Satan took advatange of your lack of experience with cooking to put stuff in his food. But at that point it's beyond whay you can do.

If there is something truly awful that you made, he may or may not feed it to Cerberus. Will never let you know that tho.

He considered letting you cook without any help at some point...until he overheard Solomon giving you cooking advice. You were not allowed in the kitchen for a whole week and he would not tell you anything beyond "It's for this household's safety'

Mammon

Since he was supposed to look after you, more often than not he has to help you with cooking. Which he complains a lot at first, at least until he falls for you.

He will fight off his other brothers so he can be the one that helps you get better at cooking. He will take pride in teaching you how to make certain dishes and brag about it to his brothers.

If any of the brothers show any signs that they might not like the food(no one does that cause they are fucking simps) he will take full offense on your behalf.

Another one that figures you can't cook human foods either. He is the brother with the most practical knowledge of the human world. He got you figured out in that aspect as fast as Lucifer.

When he overheard you and Solomon talking about how you could make your cooking better he literally picked you up and ran away. Was it jealousy? Fear of the old man's food? No one knows but he is not letting you near that sorcerer for a while

Leviathan

He is not that much help...he will be too focused on his games to really help you. That is unless you make something inspired by one of his animes, then he will become really strict out of nowhere.

He suggests that you cook different stuff from his anime/video games so you could get better. It's a win-win situation for the both of you. He gets his food from anime and you gain experience.

Doesn't dare to tell you if your food is bland or if you used too much salt. He thinks you will hate him if he starts commenting on it. Unless you swear you won't get mad he will keep everything to himself.

Doesn't realize that you are a noob at cooking human food. He just thinks you're not the best at cooking because you are in a different world.

He doesn't actually see Solomon give you cooking advice at RAD because his ass is doing online school. Only when you serve him a literal murder attempt that you dare to call food and tell him you got some advice from Solomon does he realize his fate...

Satan

The best cook in the house. He is well aware that Devildom cusine will be new to you so he planned out some special cooking classes just for you.

He takes this occasion to more or less study how a human would interact with Devildom food when they first see it.

He may also take advantage of these cooking lessons to put poisons and potions in the food ment for Lucifer. Unless you're in the Anti Lucifer League, you are none the wiser about the whole affair.

He will actually tell you when you put too much or too little seasoning into the food. He won't do it in front of others and is always ment in a good way so you could get better at cooking. One of the best people to get advice from when it comes to cooking ngl.

When he saw that Solomon was trying to give you advice for cooking he let that two of you finish the conversation. Once he was sure that Solomon was gone Satan had a serious talk about how you should do the complete opposite of what Solomon has told you. Funny enough, that makes your cooking 10 times better.

Asmodeus

Not much help to be honest. Just like his older brother, he will bring his phone and do something else while chatting with you. To his credit, he does search for tips and recipes online for begginers.

That starts a small tradition between the two of you where he shows you a dish from Devilgram and you try to recreate it. If he helps you are not depends on your mood but one thing is sure, he will post the finished product on Devilgram and will sing praises about it.

He has had to deal with Solomon's cooking for hundred of years, so he developed a really good poker face when it comes to trying cooking he doesn't like. He will try to gently tell you if the food is missing something. He doesn't want to see you sad after all.

With both you and Solomon being bad cooks, he might just have to start thinking that all humans are bad at cooking...or that would have been the case if he didn't hook up with literally renown chefs from human world.

He doesn't even need to hear your discussion with Solomon to know that the old man is giving you cooking advice. He will literally throw himself at the both of you and start talking about the latest drama to get you both distracted.

Beelzebub

He is literally one of the worst demons to have around if you want to get better at cooking...or if you want to cook at all.

He will keep eating the ingredients before you could even use. And as along as your cooking isn't Solomon levels of bad he will enjoy it. At least he is good at making yourself feel proud about your cooking, even in your bad days.

He won't help you get better at cooking and he feels bad about it but he can be one hell of an emotional support demon, your personal cheerleader if you want. He is there to eat all of your failed attempts with a smile on his face.

Asks you to make him something from the human world pretty often. The good thing is he can't tell you're a total noob at cooking that stuff because he genuinely likes your food.

When he sees you and Solomon talk about ways to get better at cooking he literally picks you up and carries you away. Where exactly? Probably Akudonalds

Belphegor

He can be pretty helpful if he wants to. Unfortunately, he prefers to wrap his hands are you waist, rest his head on your shoulder/against your back and sleep. Which makes it really hard for you to move around. The brat is lucky he is cute.

Just like Satan, he will put poison/potions in the food that is ment for Lucifer as a prank when you are not looking.

Since he often cooks for Beel, he gives pretty good tips about how to cook big portions of food without putting too much energy into it. Probably some of the best advice considering that you have to cook for you and 7 other demons, one who is the personification of gluttony

He sends you different foods he is craving and demands that you make them. He claims that it counts as practice, you call bullshit on it and leave it at that. On the occasions that you do decide to try your hand at cooking whatever he asks, he will get pretty embarrassed cause he didn't expect that you would actually do it.

If he sees Solomon trying to give you tips about cooking he will literally walk in the middle of your conversation and start using you as a body pillow to distract you from your conversation.

Yeah.

That was fantastic.

On the whole, Love Live season 2 isn't really doing anything different from season 1. It's just perfected what was already great and bloomed into its fully realized self. So many incredible jokes, so much positive energy, all but ditching the awful Nozomi groping gags from season 1, a willingness to play most of its drama shockingly subtly to great effect, which only makes its big emotional moments all the more heartwrenching, a pure and unabashed earnestness that bleeds through every single moment... this is, hands down, the first truly great straightforward idol show I've seen. This is the inspirational, soul-uplifting explosion of joy I've been craving from this genre. And while I feel my critic brain trying to nitpick points here and there- A-Rise are completely superfluous, the diet episode still sucks, it's not like it couldn't have explored more complex issues if it wanted- my heart knows this isn't getting anything lower than an 8/10. One of the best feel-good anime I've watched in a long time, and one that justly deserved spawning the franchise empire it's become.

Rishe is truly a wonderful person. I love the scene between her and Tully about their business deal. I read the scene so many times from both the manga and light novel, but the anime makes it all the more beautiful and awe-inspiring. Rishe is a SAINT!!!!

Rishe's business plan was genius, but her kindness and selfless are just so beautiful and heartfelt. She cares so deeply for the people of her new kingdom and wants to help them. I LOVE how she made Tully realize that and left him and everyone else speechless. She made her intentions perfectly clear, bowed her head and asked for Tully's help while revealing herself as a kind, intelligent, compassionate and above all, a truly considerate person. This right here is someone worthy of becoming a Crown Princess.

Everyone was truly and deeply touched by her kind and selfless acts. (If this doesn't prove she isn't a villainess then I don't know what will!) This scene moved my heart so much that I feel like it's about ready to explode!!!!! OMG MY HEART CAN'T TAKE IT!!!! This is going to make her maids and knights love and respect her even more!!!

Not only that, but she still cares and worries for the people she knew from her past lives, Tully's little sister being a prime example since they were so close and treated each other like sisters in her first life. And of course it's not just little Aria, but others like her young mistress, Millia from her life as maid or Prince Kyle from her apothecary life. All in all, Rishe has one of the kindest and biggest hearts I Have EVER Seen! I mean it when I say she is a saint! The title is so misleading. Rishe is one of the kindest anime characters anyone will ever see!

Today's episode makes me want more than ever for 7th Time Loop to get an English Dub. This will make my heart explode and more when it finally comes out in English.

Better late than never, here's a Q&A for @sonic-oc-showdown

✨ How did you come up with the OC’s name?

I wanted to use a word that meant ice that wasn't extremely obvious, and Rime ended up being perfect! To be specific it means hoar frost.

🌼 How old are they? (Or approximate age range)

Same age as Blaze! She was created ~100 years ago, but like Shadow she was frozen and didn't age until she got woken up.

🌺 Do they have any love interest(s)?

She's aro, so no romantic love interest. That said, she and Blaze do definitely end up in a relationship :3

🍕 What is their favorite food?

Surprisingly, anything spicy!

🎹 Do they have any hobbies?

Ice skating! Rime can create her own ice and propell herself pretty easily, but outside of fighting she's discovered she loves the elegance of truly dancing on ice, and challenges herself to learn difficult jumps. She also likes going for long morning walks, especially on a crisp winter morning when the ground is still covered in frost.

❤️ What is one of your OC’s best memories?

Most of their memories as a child with their brother, although a lot of them are bittersweet to look back on now.

✂️ What is one of your OC’s worst memories?

Seeing her brother die before being frozen.

🧊 Is their current design the first one?

Yup! Some of their fur colour has changed ever so slightly (her muzzle and ear/chest fluff are now pure white rather than the same off white as the rest of her fur) but that's it.

🍀 What originally inspired the OC?

@transgendershadowthehedgehog made a post about how Blaze should have an aro cryomancer rival, and I ran with the idea.

🌂 What genre do they belong in?

@mari-madas gave me the idea that the Sol dimension is centered more around fantasy in contrast with Sonic's dimension being more sci fi. Not a hard and fast rule as they both have magic and tech, but it's about the Aesthetic™. So, fantasy!

💚 What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?

Aromantic nonbinary lesbian! Or as she would describe herself, girlthing.

🙌 How many sibling does your OC have?

Just the one, her adopted brother, Gertrude's grandson! Possibly also a Sol version of Biolizard, but I haven't come up with anything for that idea yet

🍎 What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like?

Like Shadow, Rime was made rather than born, so technically doesn't have parents. But her creator, the witch Gertrude, was basically a mother to her... In a way.

Rime was always perfectly happy with Gertrude and never really thinks anything was wrong with how they grew up. But anyone else might think differently, as Rime was treated more like an animal than a person. Not with (much) malice, Gertrude just assumed that Rime didn't have the intelligence of a regular mobian. This allowed Rime to grow up pretty feral, which she considers a good thing! She won't look too deeply into it. She DOESN'T have mommy issues, promise (lying).

✏️ How often do you draw/write about the OC?

Definitely more since this showndown, which I'm glad of! I want to draw her more in the future too, she simply hasn't been around long enough for me to have made a lot of art for her.

💎 Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC?

I mean... gestures to Shadow "dying" at the end of sa2. A similar thing happens to Rime, so while she does die, it's not permanent.

💀 Does your OC have any phobias?

Large open areas, especially at night. Being in space is particularly awful for her (not that she'd show it)

🍩 Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival?

Blaze ;)
