My cat has come very far in 4 years (almost 5)

Pumpkin has always been very skittish. Since the day we got him, a little (compared to now. He was 8 lbs when we got him, he’s 25 lbs. now) 5 month old kitten, terrified and not even walking up to us, terrified of the other two cats, couldn’t be around walking. He hid for the first 3 months. Then he started venturing further from the upstairs. He started going into the living room on his own and found his favorite spot on the dog’s cage. He made best friends with my late German Shepherd. I truly think Max helped bring him out of his shell.

He’s become more attached to me since Max died. Tonight, he laid on me. He’s never really willingly laid down like that before. He stayed for a good 7 or 8 minutes. He was purring and head butting me. He walks up to us (the people in the house with him) when we walk by (his previous owner walked very little in her house, it freaked him out for a long time) . He warmed up to strangers. He’s still skittish, sudden noises make him jump. He gets freaked out easily, but there are things he warms up to quickly. He’s a bit of a weird boy, but I love my pumpkin.
