Ordinary Godly
Apollo x Male Reader
Fandom -> Percy Jackson Series
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Percy Jackson, who has fought a variety of Monsters and argued—even battled at some point—with the Godly deities of the mighty Olympus, had expected everything—when stepping into the home of Jason and Will, with the rest of his little friends troop—but nothing like this.
Seeing you, the deity of tranquility and slumber—another brother of Hypnos—for the very first time in actuality—was a weird experience of meeting for Percy.
»THERE YOU ARE! MY TWO PRECIOUS SUMMER BOYS! OH, NICO! I GREET YOU TOO, COME HERE!«
You had emerged from the Kitchen, baggy clothes—consisted of a large tee with the print of some band name and lyrics quote and pyjama pants—covered in what seemed to be flour and cocoa powder.
Your voice was loud, filled with thrilling excitement of joyfulness. Taking Jason and Will into your arms, hugging them tightly against you and giving each of them more than just a few kisses to the cheeks and head. Nico had been pulled into this as well, suffering through much affection as well.
You're radiating more hyperactivity energy and child like behaviour off, than the emotions you're meant to send out.
Walking into a home, in which Jason and Will had grown up with their two godly parents, which looked so damn mundane humane—that Percy had to take a double check on that Cookie Tin-can, filled with sewing stuff.
It confused him. If they all had learned one thing of being Demigods—half children of godly blessings, which sometimes could be seen as a curse though—that none of the gods and goddesses—their other parentally half—live like a ordinary human.
Always exotic enormously flashy, expensive, but never dare to boring and dull—than a god whose dull and pathetic unnoticeable, could not be worthy for eternity of mighty existence.
Yet, Percy thought, both the house and you are a stark contrast to what they have been told. Simple and ordinary.
»Are we sure this is really a deity?« asked Percy in a hushed whisper, leaning down to Annabeths ear and elbowing her in the side.
»I haven't seen Demosonos personally, but I highly doubt Jason and Will wouldn't recognised their parent.« she whispered back, keeping wary glances at them—some Gods can't be trusted.
Nico who had managed to free himself from the suffocating hug of love, stepped back to them and hissed in the same hushing voice of whispers;
»Do you two have any death wishes? Don't upset them.«
I mean, Percy thought—letting his gaze wander back to you—if we do so, what would happen? Ares, Zeus, Hades, Athena and his own father—Poseidon—are much more scarily and worthy of being called merciless fighters.
You on the other hand, looked—truthfully—weak. Percy could for sure, probably, take you down in seconds.
After all, from what he could gather, you're more than just a minor god—even less than minor, a subcategory inside a subcategory—unworthy to be mention with the same breath of saying Nxy, Hypnos and all the way to Morpheus.
Still, Percy is after all confused to why their Prophecy and Quest is, to seek you out and ask for your help.
Lesser Gods aren't helpful, they're more a nuisance.
~~~
»And this must be your other friends? Right? Perseus and Annabeth?« the question was more towards your sons.
You stepped towards the two teens, Will had already pulled Nico away to the Sofa and Jason had gone to the Kitchen, greeting loudly his other dad.
Percy and Annabeth felt both a bit uncomfortable with your vacant stare and the friendly smile on your lips.
»Uhh, It's Percy actually, I don't liked to be called Perseus« Percy didn't know, why of all the things he could say, decided to say this—but he did, mouth being faster than his brain again—and Annabeth elbowed him hard in the rips, a tiny gaps of breath intake left her lips.
The friendly smile never wavered from your lips, nodding at them—they couldn't tell if you had even listen properly, vacant glint still in your eyes—head dropping a bit to the side.
»Aah! You want some tea and Sweets? C'mon, c'mon, now don't be shy you two, take a seat. Will be a dear and help me« clapping your hands, you ushered the two teens to the Sofa, skipping already to the Kitchen.
»I will explain later a bit,« with that being said, Will stood up as well.
Neither of the three said anything, looking around the living room with more interest than addressing the current situation—or more issues perhaps?
»I thought you knew what he is like Nico....I mean with you being Wills boyfriend, you are prone to meet his parents«
»Hey hey, don't come at me now Chase. I only have met Mr. [Surname] like three times and that was in the city.«
»Small tip of advice, don't be so stiff. Relax a little or Pa's gonna worry again« they hadn't noticed Jason, who have come back from the kitchen with a tray of Tea cups and Kettle.
Will following soon after with a Tray of sweets and pastries, setting it down on the coffee table. They both getting comfortable on the sofas—Jason on the main big one, while Will had sat with Nico on the right mini sofa and Percy and Annabeth on the left—again.
Nico instantly following Jasons advice, relaxing his body and sliding just a bit down.
When Apollo had entered the living room, Annabeth and Percy gasped loudly in surprise. Standing up they bow their head or more like, Annabeth forced Percy to do as well.
»Lord Apollo!«
»Since when did you become a Lord? Aren't you a God?« you asked in amused surprise, taking a seat as well.
»Apparently just now, love« Apollo shrugged, Will started to laugh and Jason sighed in disappointment, shaking his head—so much for giving advice to his friend, to not be so formally stiff and causing tension.
~~~
The hours passed and Percy and Annabeth had relaxed over the times. Coming to the conclusion that you aren't one of the tricky gods—like Ares—who likes to use them as soldiers.
You asked them various questions, be it about the quest or some daily things; like what's your favourite TV-Show.
It wasn't long till you slumped, actually passing out from something akin to exhaustion and sleep, body leaning against Apollo—who had long wrapped an arm around you in a protective manner.
Jason stood up, taking your legs and moving them onto the couch. Getting a blanket from the footstool—where are tower of them was stacked—and covering you a bit to the hips with it.
Percy couldn't help himself but to stare at the marks—he first took notice of them when you handing him a gummy-bear—which covers your arms, starting from your wrist and ending somewhere at your neck or collarbone.
He had seen these types of Marks before. Racking his brain for the information he had read about or being told from.
Oh.
Percy jumped up, snapping his fingers and pointing—accusingly—at you. Head turning to Annabeth and again his mouth had been faster than his brain.
»That's THE DEMON OF OLYMPUS!« he had shouted it so loud, that your body jerked up—stirring awake is what you begun, already mumbling something sleepily out of context.
Apollo moved you quickly into his arms, shushing you gently back to the dreamlands and humming a little tune of it.
A mess had started to erupt between them all.
»I know! It's still highly disrespectful to point that out, seaweed brain!« Annabeth slapped him hard against the shoulder.
»Do you have a death wish, Jackson? Do you want us get killed?« hissed Nico, giving a glare, sitting uptight again and body going absolutely rigid stiff.
The worst part for Percy was probably the disbelieving disappointment frown on both, Jasons and Apollos—though his frown looked more like concealed bubbling anger—face.
Apollon stood up with you in his arms, ready to walk out. Will was about to stand up as well, wanting to go with his father.
»I'll take it from here boys. I expect from you two to inform your friends properly now, to ensure that such outrageous behaviour won't happen again.«
»Wow, way to go Percy. Upsetting one of the kinder gods in just one go.« Will wanted to laugh, to make it seem that it wasn't that bad, but his laugh came more like a strangled cry out.
»How many times did we, did I, told you to keep your mouth shut in more than just one occasion?!« chastised Annabeth, giving him another shoulder slap.
»No, honestly Percy, be fucking glad Pa had another slumber episode of his or you would....I don't know, but it wouldn't be nice.«
»But he's the Demon of Olympus! Isn't he not? The marks of Zeus's banning are a clear sign of it. I don't get why we need help from an evil deity who also deceives everyone to believe he's being known as a lesser god«
»Even for you Perseus, that's a new personal low! How dare you to say such horrible things about my Pa.« Jason stomped off, the anger radiating off and his face slightly red from it.
Will had decided to inform Percy properly about his dad's complete and historical story. He didn't want his parents to be offended—or feel upset and angered—after all they need their help and support for the upcoming—already starting—quest.
You're the brother, a child from Nyx, of Hypnos. It is true, your actual deity personality, form and power is akin to one of chaos—you're a personification of weather—raging storms to be exact—and a sneer of demonic vileness petty violence.
During a darker time in history, Zeus had strikes you with lightning—sealing your actuality, banning them for a balance—and splitting you into what you are now; god of tranquility and slumber.
The splitting had also caused a turn in personality itself. Making you more childish, airhead and forgetful. Kindness from you, comes not completely naturally—feeling more forced without meaning to, though you do love and this was a genuine one.
»Yeah okay, but why is Demosonos—uh, [Name], with your father, Will?«
»They're married?«
»Why?«
»You're officially demoted from Seaweed brain to dumbweed brain.« muttered Nico, pinching the bridge of his nose.
»They married for like years and that's because out of actual love and I'm not gonna tell you their sappy love story.«
»Still I don't get how like Lord Apollo, who blends like the sun, is being married freely to someone like him, a actual demonic person«
»I–oh my fucking god, Percy. My dads are married because they love one another, completely smitten they are, how hard is that to understand?!« Will groaned in desperation, taking a handful of biscuits again—had he almost eaten the whole bowl.
And Nico thought, how a great way to upset a God and already dooming their quest in the very beginning.
~~~
Jason felt hesitant, as if he were five again and didn't wanted to disrupt his parents sleeps because he had a nightmare, to step into the bedroom.
Respectfully he knocked a few times on the door, before opening it and stepping inside.
The bedroom was almost shrouded in complete darkness, except for the dimmed nightshade next to the bed.
Apollo had acknowledged his son, didn't say anything though—to occupied to lay in bed next to you, hand supporting his head as he drove his fingers through your hair.
A cooled washcloth was placed over your face. You hadn't started to sweat, sign of upcoming fever, but Apollon didn't wanted to risk it—doing a prevention beforehand.
What most, be it his own kind or humans, didn't know is that Zeus lightning strike to you has caused more than just a split personality—created a rift in your health, leaving you vulnerable and weak and prone to sickness.
Apollo couldn't do much about it. Not even with his powers of healing, leaving him a pit of despair and self-hatred whenever you got sick.
»Do you know the actual, not that stupidly outrageous idea of us gods being unfaithful, I mean some truly are, reason, why we have decided to let you and Will and all your other siblings been born from Humans?«
»No,« Jason shook his head, debating with himself if he should sit or lay down next to you, in the end he chose a mix of both.
Jason had sometimes wonders why it always had been that way—being born from humans and a deity—even though gods and goddesses could bear children just as well.
When he had been younger, wasn't all that long ago in his early teen years—memory still fresh in mind and sometimes upsetting him—he had accused his father, they had another argument that day, he never had loved dad in the beginning and being unfaithful to him—cheating with woman's and only seeing you as some kind of trophy.
That day was the only day and time where Jason had seen Apollo with actual anger on his face. The kind of anger which bubbles in you till it turns into hatred and pettiness.
»It's because your dad wouldn't survive the procedure of giving birth and I mind you, the whole explanatory of the aspect itself of how we gods and goddesses giving birth and the many various ways to do so, is chaotic complexing on its own.«
»You mean, dad would die? But you are immortals and immortals aren't meant to die«
»Yes and no. Even though we're immortals of eternity, there are still ways—ancient barbaric ones—to kills us or at least in a sense of us being dead. No, no, Jay, the reason isn't death, he just wouldn't survive.«
Jason furrowed his brows, not understanding what his father meant or trying to tell him.
»You well aware of what happened to your dad, his history. Zeus had strike him down, leaving him in the few hours of unconsciousness—which had caused a spurt of utterly violent storms throughout the land—vulnerable and unable to defend himself against any sort of danger and hostile.«
»Are you trying to tell me that, Zeus had, you know—with dad?«
»Dear lord! Jason! Absolutely not! Don't ever think of such disgusting scenarios and manners again.«
Apollo sighed deeply, not having expected his Son to come to such conclusions. You stirred again, your hand coming up to your face and taking the washcloth off.
Bleary you opened your eyes, trying to make out where you are and who you are.
Apollo, praying silent apologies already, leaning down to you—pressing a soft kiss onto your lips and with a quick whisper of humming lullaby, brought you back into the grips of slumber. Unconscious you rolled onto your side, over to him and into his arms.
»You put him into force sleep! Didn't you told us to never use our powers of sleep in such forceful ways? It's a rule number one!«
Apollo raised a brow at his son, who looked absolutely mortified for a good minute and turned into distasteful disappointment.
»Now now, my son, don't give me such gaze. I too am not proud of what I did, but it had to be done. It's still a sensitive topic and I don't want to cause a distress, disturbance or even distrust perhaps. Now, where was I? Aah yes—«
»So like I said, during the hours of unconsciousness, a wave of sickness rolled over—custody of Pandora's box being opened—and infected painfully your dad. Leaving him, once he had woke up, in a whimpering withering anxiety filled mess.«
»And that's how you meet Dad then, right?«
»That's a story for another, but yes. Anyways, to what I'm trying to say is, your dad is still too vulnerable and weak—sickness prone, to be able to handle the whole procedure of giving birth. I mean we tried it once and only, but.....let's just say, dad still has scars from it. And thus the reason why we and perhaps most of us gods, decided to let our children been born from humans.«
Jason gulped, trying to not choke on his tighten up throat. He hadn't been aware of it, how the true story had happened, but it all makes so much sense now.
The times you got so bedridden, unable to do anything but sleep, that Will cried for days and nights thinking you're about to die from incurable illness.
Or when Will had been still a child, having gotten a nasty flu and you had to take care of Will and him—Jason himself had been in some bad mood the whole week to even consider to help you out as he was the older brother after all—all on your own, because his father had been away for business trips—and you looked so exhausted and ready to pass out any minute, that Jason hadn't even question back then why you took pills after pills and chugged cups of coffee.
Jason understands so much better now, why you never got angry—like he had been, when founding out—when Apollo had intercourse with yet another woman.
He understood why you're so prone to sudden collapse of exhaustion and slumbering sleep during the day or in the middle of doing something.
And then he felt a rush of rage through his blood.
You didn't deserve to be treated like this, to be frowned upon down or with that false kindness the other deities treated you with.
You didn't deserve to either called a demonic being or naively dumbling of airy forgetfulness.
Jason hated it. Hated them, the ones above and those below. How dare they to make you feel so unwanted and filling you with seeds of self-hatred and anxiety—when you give nothing but pure love to him and his siblings.
Jason wasn't blind, his father neither—though the man chose to completely ignore it, when you once again had puffy red rimmed eyes—when you had cried in the bathroom during nights and mumbling things to yourself, Jason didn't want to repeat.
Jason decided, this prophecy wasn't worth it to bring you once again pain and remind you of the haunting past.
If it meant to sabotage the quest, he would do. After all his loyalty and love belongs to only you and not to the greater ones above, who hadn't even the slightest fuck to give about their children.
Tumblr media
"Are you sure you want to go alone?" asks neteyam holding noah't to his chest. "Yes, don't worry I'll be fine" you say as you continue getting ready to go out to pick some fruits. It wasn't just any fruit, it was a very special fruit that bore its fruits a bit far from the village. This made neteyam a little nervous, but it made you excited. It had been a long time since you had gone adventuring alone and the simple fact of searching for a fruit excited you.
Since you had become a mother, all your time and space was for noah't. It wasn't like neteyam wasn't there. He was always helping you, taking care of you and the baby. But noah't had a very strong attachment to you. Neytiri told you that this was normal, she commented how loak was very attached to her when he was a baby, this was transitory. You knew this was the best time to go out, as noah't was taking his midday nap. "He's already eaten, he's clean…so I'll leave you two alone" you say going over to give neteyam a kiss. You knew he was worried, he still hadn't gotten over the previous events of your loss. And knowing that you were going to be alone in the jungle terrified him.
"What if someone goes with you? Why don't you tell loak" neteyam stops and thinks a little clearly. " No, loak no…but if you tell kiri or spider to accompany you?" neteyam has his hand holding you, gently stroking your fingers, you give him a grumpy look. You hated it when he got like this, nothing was going to happen to you. Everything had gotten better, the altercations with the RDA had lessened, they were in their zone and you were in yours. Also, you weren't going to get too far away. "Neteyam… kiri is busy with mo'at. Spider is eywa know where. I'll be fine" you give her a quick kiss, and run out of your hut.
Neteyam stayed quiet watching you run out of the hut. Yes he was worried, but he knew you were going to be fine. You were a strong woman and you knew how to defend yourself, maybe you were right. He was being a little overprotective. So he decided to lie down for a while with his son, it was one of the few days he didn't have to do anything. He walked over to the bed, this was a large hammock, which you insisted on having and which neteyam was forced to put up. He climbed up carefully, and placed his little baby next to him and close to his chest. He snuggled further into the bed and slowly zeroed his eyes.
Meanwhile, not far away you are walking peacefully through the jungle of Pandora. Enjoying the feel of the grass on your feet, the clean air and the coolness of the forest. Wow, you missed this… to be preoccupied for at least several hours. You knew you had to go back, noah't was going to get up and get hungry. That baby ate too much. And you couldn't stand to be away from him for more than 3 hours. You knew neytiri would calm him down, but you knew you had a curfew anyway. But enjoying your free time, you started running, faster and faster.
You picked up some fruits, and put them in a bag that you had hung on your waist. You also took the opportunity to take some feathers that some animals had left behind, these were perfect for the new outfit you were making for noah't. You were in your little bubble, until your ears heard a strange noise, it was familiar but strange. You crawl along the floor, trying to hide from whatever was making that noise. You took your time to analyze the noise, it was loud breathing and cursing that you could hear softly. Ok, it was something you could recognize, whatever it was was speaking one of your languages.
You got closer, hiding in the branches trying to see what creature was making that noise. As you got closer you could see the figure of a navi, it had military clothes, and it was not similar to the scientist's navis and it was kneeling on the ground… it seemed to be searching for something. You hide more in the bushes. What were the recoms doing near the village. This was worrying you… They weren't supposed to be around, that was the deal. You didn't think long and took your bow and pointed it at the target. You weren't going to risk it, this avatar could be dangerous for you and your family. The only ones who knew where you were was… wait.
You were standing there, with the bow ready to shoot the arrow, when you remembered who you had told about your location. Of course, he had to be the only one. Quaritch?…it couldn't be. The last time you communicated with him was seven months ago. That's when he saw your baby for the first time, after that encounter…you didn't hear from him. Why was he here? Were there more of them in the area? Was he going to betray you?
You lower the bow and start to look at the situation, the man was so into what he was doing that he didn't realize that you were just 6 feet away. "He's a dummy" you think to yourself, as you watch him get up. And you see how one of his hands is stuck to his chest and you can see blood. You could analyze the expression of pain on his face, and you can see how other parts of his body were hurt. They were like burns. You stop in your tracks… you had an inner fight, your instinct was telling you to stay away. But on the other hand you wanted to help him. What's the worst that could happen if you got caught again? He wasn't going to hurt himself just for the fun of it?
So you move a little closer and speak softly, but with worry. "Quaritch? Is that you?" you speak, this makes the man turn around quickly looking for the location of the voice. And there you could confirm that he did not have any kind of weapon, he is very hurt. His eyes were pained, worried, lost. "Y/N?" Quaritch, he spoke with a broken voice… he was about to cry. You slowly came out of your hiding place, and as soon as your figure was in sight. The man took several steps and was on the floor on his knees in front of you. You didn't know what was happening, you had never seen him like this.
"Finally I find you!!!" he let out a gasp. "What is happening to you? Why are you like this?" you ask, lifting his face in your hands. You were analyzing his wounds, how his clothes were full of blood. "They… they got rid of us" he speaks, as you watch his eyes fill with tears. He was scared, harmless and hurt. You could even guess that he was dehydrated. "But who did this? Why are you here?" you want to stay calm, but it was almost impossible. You watch as he collapses completely on the ground, he is sitting with his head down. He groans in pain. "Everyone…Y/N, everyone is dead" Quaritch looks up. You sit down in front of him, you didn't want to touch him too much.
"Hey, why don't we go to a safe area…get you all patched up and drink some water" you invite him, taking his free hand. Making him get up from the ground. Quaritch just looked you in the eyes, and nodded. You couldn't leave him here. He was your friend, he was hurt and you knew that if you left him here in the condition he was in he would die in less than 4 hours. He was in a very bad condition. Of course, you couldn't take him to the village. Neteyam would be furious and so would your father. And your mother…she was going to kill him. So as you slowly walk through the forest holding his hand making sure he was okay. You decide to take him to the beach, it wasn't too far and there you had a little shelter.
It was a refuge that you used from time to time. You used to go there with neteyam and noah't, it was also your space to go and take care of your ilu and spend time with him. No one used to go to your seaside shelter, so it was perfect for Quaritch to take refuge. While you were thinking of a better plan. They were getting closer and you could hear his breathing and how exhausted he was feeling. "We're close…hang in for a little while." As you reached the beach, you pulled him inside the small hut. You could see your ilu, poking his head out to greet you. You signaled with your hands for him to look for a type of sea clam, which was used to heal wounds. This had been taught to you by Tsireya, to train your ilu to follow command and even to know how to search.
Quaritch sat on a kind of bed. You approached him and lifted his face. "Hey…have some water?" you offer him water from a clay jar. He took it in a hurry, you could tell he had been like this for days. "Now…take off that dirty shirt, while I go prepare everything to heal those wounds" you speak, while you see that the man only obeys you. This was a new behavior for you, the Quaritch you knew was a strong, intimidating man, but now he was so vulnerable. You took some herbs that you had nearby. You had them here, in case an accident happened, you would be ready. All that was left was for your ilu, to shred the clams you needed.
"Hi'i will be back soon" you say. "Who is Hi'i?" asks Quaritch, he had finally spoken. "It's my ilu" you say. "And cupcake?" he asks, looking you in the eye. You move closer and wipe some blood from between his eyebrows with a tissue. "He's in the village, with the other ikran. It's okay…but you" there is silence and you can see his eyes fill with tears. Before he speaks, you hear Hi'i's roar. You run out to the coast, and see that Hi'i had several shells in his mouth. "Ahhh thank you precious… thank you very much" you thank him. Running back to prepare the medicinal paste that mo'at had taught you. Quaritch watches you work quietly. And then you stand up and begin to place the paste on her injured skin. "I don't want to clean it too much, because it has already created its own layer…but this will help with the inflammation and remove bacteria," your hands dab at the skin. And you listen as Quaritch moans, but you notice how he is relaxing.
"It hurts…but it feels good" you say, watching as you carefully place more on his arm. You find some cloths and wrap them up. "Now…tell me what happened? Why are you here…you know one of the warriors could have killed you" you speak, as you continue to work on other wounds. "They have decided against us…we are no longer useful to them. They sent us on a routine 'mission'…it was all right, my squad is fine. I got a message from General Ardmore saying that our service was good, but they needed new equipment. Out of nowhere the helicopter exploded" Quaritch speaks, while you are sitting in front of him you couldn't believe what you were hearing. "When I got up… they were all dead. Everything was destroyed" he lowers his head, you can see the tears fall to the floor. "And Lyle?" you ask. You didn't know the others in the group. But you did know Lyle, he was a great friend of yours. "He didn't survive…" Quaritch can see your hand go to your mouth, looking to calm you down. You get up and give him a hug. "I'm so sorry…" you are crying.
"That's why I came looking for you… you are the only person I have left alive, the one I can trust" Quaritch says, you hug him again. You couldn't hold back your tears. Your mother is right, humans can be so cruel, how they can kill living creatures for no reason. "And what are you going to do next?" you look up, you were already picking up some things. "I don't know… if I go near the base they will kill me" he speaks, you can see how confused he is. "Why don't you spend the night here, here…it's some fruit" you take out the fruit you had picked from your bag. "I'll come tomorrow and we'll talk about everything" you explain. "But no one will come here" Quaritch stands up, he is scared and defensive. You take his hand and calm him down a little, making him sit down again. "No, this place is secret…it's mine" you say, looking for some clothes for Quaritch to change and make him more comfortable. "Won't you stay?" he asks. " I can't…neteyam and noah't are waiting for me" you laugh a little, you see how his ears perk up with surprise. "It's true…you have a family. I bet the baby is precious" Quaritch says while playing with his hands. He did that when he was nervous. "Yes…it's gigantic. Literally gigantic" you say.
Before you leave the hut, you give him one last hug. "See you tomorrow…I'll be back" you say, as you leave the hut. You see that the sky is getting dark, how long you have been there. It was very late… it doesn't take you long to get to the village. You run quickly to the hut you shared with neteyam, when you enter you see jake playing with noah't while neteyam is preparing the dinner. "Honey you're finally here" says Jake, he was lying on the floor letting his grandson play on top of him. "H-hello dad…what are you doing here?" you ask nervously. If anyone found out that you were helping one of the clan's greatest enemies, in your hut on the coast, they would kill you. They were going to kill you.
"I came to visit you…I can't?" asks Jake, he noticed how nervous you were. After all…he was your father, he raised you. He knew your every moves. You walk over to neteyam, who is cutting up various foods. He is sitting down, so you hug him from behind. Trying to change the subject. "Of course you can dad, I was just asking," you say, as you continue to hug Neteyam. Neteyam moves his head, to kiss your hand which is hugging his neck. "Love…you smell blood, did you get hurt?" everyone stops what they are doing, even jake holds noah't so he can look at you. "It's nothing…it's a scratch. Look…I didn't get any fruit" you lift your shoulders, while giving neteyam a kiss on the back. "Well… but you're okay, right?" he looks up to study you. You give him a small smile and lean in to kiss him on the lips. "Love, I'm fine…just a little tired. I've been looking for the fruit all day and nothing" you pull away from neteyam, moving closer to take noah't in your arms.
"My baby…you must be very very hungry" you say, settling Noah't on your chest, so that he can feed. Jake watches you, he knows you are hiding something. "Honey, is everything okay?" Jake asks again. "Yes daddy…" you look away quickly. "Well…I'll leave you two alone. Rest kids" jake says as he gets up, gives you a kiss on the forehead and a squeeze on the shoulder to his oldest son. Jake was so proud of you guys, you had grown up so much, you already had a family.
Neteyam gets up and walks a little bit to be in front of you. Your gaze was lost, you had noah't suckling you, while you were rocking from side to side. Neteyam comes closer to kiss you on your forehead. "Y/N do you have something to tell me?" neteyam asks, he knows you were not well. First you didn't come with fruits, second... you smelled like another man.
I hope you guys don't mind me putting you on the taglist, since you were always supporting the first part of 'experiment 56'. I think it's only fair that you know about the sequel, first of all.
Hey hey! from the event could i request 191 with Vox? i don’t know why i just thought of him when i saw it…
Tumblr media
"tell me how it feels."
pairings: vox akuma / male!reader
summary: something this gentle is rare. what's going on?
tw: DADDY KINK / DDLG, drugging, dubcon(?). soft vox, belly bulges, coercion. yandere!vox.
notes: this probably isnt the best, and i would love to write something similar and better in the future. for now, i really wanted to write more daddy kink stuff. enjoy!
Tumblr media
"you sound even prettier than i imagined you would." you felt your face heat up from the compliment, unable to meet his eyes.
vox spoke so tenderly, looking at you with complete adoration and love. it had taken a while for him to get you in his grasp, but fuck, the wait was worth it. he was a patient demon. the fruits of his labor were delicious, eyes watching you squirm and moan his name like a mantra.
you couldn’t tell what confused you more: how gentle vox was acting towards you, or how good your body felt. sex with vox was usually more kinky - more filthy, loud, risky. however, today he held you like the smallest gust of wind would cause you to fall apart, his arms caging you in as you laid beneath him. it felt different. your mind relished in the comfort and ecstasy you felt when you gave into him.
“tell me how it feels, baby boy.” the demon mumbled, groaning from the warm pleasurable feeling of thrusting into your tight ass. you couldn’t help but gasp too, keeping your legs spread like he instructed you to. “feels really good, daddy.” you rarely spoke up when he fucked you. you were so obedient today, vox’s heart was nearly going to implode. you were too adorable for your own good sometimes. “good boy, you’re doing so well!”
the stomach bulge from his big cock inside of you was something he’d never get tired of - ever. vox adored being bigger, more powerful than you. you were his little plaything, his sweet boy he wanted to look after. you were finally seeing things his way. who knew all he needed to do was praise you a bit to make you comply? the voice demon chuckled to himself. sometimes, he could be a bit stupid. the answer was obvious from the start.
“daddy, go faster..”
“you’re so big, daddy.”
“i can feel you in my tummy, daddy!”
were you trying to kill him? you rarely indulged in this sort of play with him. he could only nod and mutter praises and comply with every order you had. tell him everything you want, and he’d give it to you. when vox was feeling more softer than usual, he just wanted someone to take care of.
a meek little human like you shouldn't have this affect on him. the demon moaned, the wet plap of his hips against your own filling the room. the day vox had saw you, he knew he couldn't let you just walk away. he remembered how turned off you were at the idea of addressing him this way. but now, from the looks of it, you were drunk on the feeling of being stretched out to care.
"does my little boy want to cum for me, hm?" the demon grinned as he looked down at you, nodding furiously with tears in your eyes. a string of pleads left your lips, whining like a dog in heat as his thick cock stirred up your insides. "dont worry, daddy's gonna make you cum, pretty thing. ill fill you up nice and full." if slipping some pills into your drink was the key to unlocking his fantasies with you, he made a note to do it much more often.
A 3AM Encounter
My first fic for Phic Phight!
The prompts were: "an encounter between valarie and sam on a patrol" by @allulily and "Sam is rescued by the Red Huntress and accidentally lets Valerie’s real name slip during the heat of the moment. Valerie has never shared her secret with anyone but her father. Does she threaten Sam or will her loneliness convince her to accept Sam's help?" by @dreamwraith
Valerie stared at the furious girl below her in shock. Her hoverboard was stuck in one of the branches slightly above her as she clung to the trunk of an old oak tree in her huntress uniform. “You shot me,” she blurted, too shocked to yell.
Below her, Sam Manson huffed, a still steaming ectogun in her hands, “Yeah, well you shot me first.”
“I thought you were a ghost.” Valerie started to inch her way up the tree towards her hoverboard.
“How the hell did you mistake me for a ghost?” Sam asked, her nostrils flaring, “Do I look like I’m glowing?”
Valerie swallowed nervously. “Well, yeah, a little bit,” she said, just a little defensively, “the vest does make it look like you're glowing in the right light.” She straightened herself up as much as she could while still clinging to the tree. “You should be a more careful, citizen.”
And wasn’t that a twist. Sam Manson was wearing a reflective vest in the middle of the night in a ghost infested park on a Tuesday. What on Earth was that about? It really wasn’t Valerie's fault that she mistook the bright, reflective figure in the night for a ghost.
Sam didn’t seem to agree.
“I should be more careful?” she asked, her voice rising in a way Valerie instinctively associated with an overloud rant about the evils of the world. “Me? The one wearing the reflective vest? The vest specifically made so that people don’t get, I don’t know, hit by cars?”
“Uh…” Valerie started climbing towards her hoverboard faster. Sam was getting a little wild with the ectogun while she was gesturing.
“I really should have expected this from you, you know?” Sam continued ranting, “I really fucking should have!”
“‘Oh, she’s getting better, Sam,’” Sam said, in a mockingly deep voice, “‘She’s really started to think before she shoots.’”
 Valerie was beyond confused. Was she talking about Phantom? They had been on better terms lately. But, how did Samantha Manson, best friend of the son of two ghost hunters, know Phantom?
“Well, guess what? I’m not really feeling it. I just got shot as a completely benign human.”
“You, uh, did have a ghost weapon on you,” Valerie pointed out, somewhat more defensively, “That kind of thing can trigger sensors.” She was almost to her hoverboard.
Valerie stilled as she felt the full force of Sam’s glare. “Please, maybe the GIW’s stuff is that janky, but I know you have better equipment than that.”
Valerie narrowed her eyes. This situation was just not adding up. “How do you know that? What are you even doing out here?”
The air shifted. Sam cleared her throat.
“Oh, well,” she started, voice slightly wobbly, “I couldn’t sleep, so I went for a walk.”
 It was 3 am, but this was Sam, who had a tendency to do what she wanted when she wanted, so it was possible she was telling the truth, if unlikely.
“And I know your equipment is better than the GIW because, uh, it looks so much nicer…” She trailed off before rebounding. “And you’ve never shot at random humans carrying weapons.” Her eyes darkened. “At least not before today.”
That was weird. Something really was off about this whole situation. “Fine, you’re right, it is better than the Guys in White. It didn’t register you as a ghost. That was all me.” She started wiggling the hoverboard to see just how stuck it was or if anything was broken. That would suck.
“Yeah, that's what I thought,” Sam said, still standing there, arms crossed, but seemingly out of things to say.
Actually, that was part of the weirdness of everything. Usually civilians got away fast. If she was there, a ghost was almost certainly nearby. They definitely didn’t stick around after being shot (not that she really had any other experience with that). They especially didn’t stick around to shoot back.
 “Why are you still here?” Valerie asked as she checked the rockets on the back of her board for debris.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Sam shift on her heels. “I, uh, kinda shot you, too,” Sam said, awkwardly, “I figured I should stick around to make sure you were okay. You went kinda far.”
Valerie fiddled with the controller on her wrist to make sure the system was operational. “You shot me with an ectogun,” she said, mostly focused on the controls, “I’m human. I’m fine.”
“You went kinda far for just a human,” Sam said, tone noticeably neutral.
Valerie was distracted trying to piece together what that meant when one of the rockets on the hoverboard suddenly flared. Valerie tried to correct and balance the board back onto the branch, but it was too late. It careened towards the ground… and towards Sam.
“Look out!” Valerie shouted as she launched herself out of the tree, attempting to force the hoverboard to turn using her wrist controller all the while. Sam was trying to jump out of the way, but her split second decision had her going into the hoverboard's path.
It was only luck that Valerie hit Sam before the hurtling slab of metal did, slamming her into the grass as the hoverboard crashed directly to their right. Valerie started to right herself, only to smell the distinct tang of ectoplasm hitting the air and hear the hissing of gas. She pressed herself down onto Sam again.
There was a loud boom and then the feeling of hot metal hitting her shoulder . Valerie hissed, laying there on top of Sam in the grass, thoughts of what almost happened ringing through her head.
There was a nudge to her shoulder, but Valerie ignored it. Her hoverboard was destroyed. That was going to be hell to replace.
Another nudge, accompanied by words Valerie didn’t really hear.
Her hoverboard was destroyed and it had almost taken someone out in the process. A human being.
More words that Valerie's brain wasn’t quite comprehending.
Her hoverboard had almost killed Sam. She had almost killed Sam. First she’d shot at her, beacause hse couldn’t even correctly identify a ghost, then her hoverboard almost took her head off. What kind of hero was she? Could she even–
“Valerie!”
Valerie snapped back to reality at the sound of her name. She stared at the girl under her. Right, she was on top of Sam. That had to be getting uncomfortable.
She rolled off onto the grass next to Sam. Then she froze. Sam had called her “Valerie.” She was in her hunting suit. The helmet was on. She turned her head towards Sam, who was starting to sit up on her elbows.
“You just called me Valerie,” she said, keeping her voice as even as possible. How the hell did Samantha Manson of all people know who she was?
Sam scrambled to her feet. Confessing through her actions that, yes, Valerie had heard right, even as her mouth insisted. “Valerie? What are you talking about? I called you the Red Huntress.”
Valerie narrowed her eyes. “No, you didn’t,” she nearly whispered, as she managed to get herself back into a standing position. “How did you know?” She clutched a hand over her left shoulder. She wasn’t sure if the shrapnel had pierced her suit.
Sam glanced over her shoulder, looking like she was about to bolt. “What are you talking about?” she said, laughing somewhat hysterically, “Did you hit your head?” She shifted again, briefly meeting Valerie’s eyes. “Besides, even if I did know something, it's not like I would tell anyone. I’m not an asshole.”
Valerie took a deep breath. Freaking out wouldn’t do any good. All it would do was scare Sam off. She wasn’t too hurt and she could probably catch her if she needed to, but that would set the wrong tone for the whole conversation.
“Hey,” Valerie said, with just a touch of sarcasm, “I’m not mad at you. I just want to know how you found out.” And who else knew. Did Danny know? Sam was one of his best friends.
“I…” Sam started, “I mean, I —”
The way Sam was shifting, Valerie was positive she was about to pull some excuse out of her ass. Valerie was ready though. She was positive that she could get to the bottom of this tonight.
“Sam!” an echoing voice called from above them.
Valerie looked up, bewildered, to see Phantom. What the hell? Did Sam actually know Phantom?
“Are you okay?” he asked, as he flew down to their level, “I heard a lot of shouting and then an explosion. Is anyone hurt?”
“Da– I mean, Phantom,” she stumbled, “I’m fine!” She motioned to Valerie, “I think Valerie hurt her arm though.”
Valerie froze as all the pieces fell into place. This was it. This was why Sam knew.
“You!” Valerie yelled at Phantom. He looked at her as if startled by her anger. He should know better.
“It was you, you life-ruining ghost. You were the one who told her.”
Phantom blinked. “I – What?”
Valerie took advantage of his supposed confusion. Her arm might be sore, but it wasn’t hurt enough to affect her aim. She switched out her gun and lined up the shot.
“Ow!” Phantom yelled, rubbing his chest, “What was that for? I thought we were doing better.”
“That’s what I thought, too,” Valerie growled, “But apparently, you’ve been going around telling people my secret identity.”
“What?” Phantom asked, sounding thoroughly panicked, “No,I haven’t!”
Valerie lined up another shot. She had no reason to trust a ghost.
Her shot went wide as Sam yanked on the gun.
“Hey,” she yelled, “D– Phantom didn’t tell me anything. You can’t just accuse him of things ‘cause you’re scared.”
Valerie's eyes narrowed at Sam. It was a mistake. As soon as she took her eyes off Phantom she felt his presence leave.
She cursed, immediately looking to the sky. He was already flying over the trees.
She turned back to Sam, nostrils flaring inside her helmet. “I have to take care of this,” she said, keeping her voice both low and hard, “But, tomorrow, you and I are going to have a long talk.”
With that, she sprinted off in the direction she had last seen Phantom. Her board may have been broken, but her suit made her faster than any average human. Sam wouldn’t be able to follow.
And on top of that, the little “ectoblast” she’d hit him with had a tracker hidden inside of it. It might not have done any damage and she might not be able to keep up with him, but she would know where he kept himself hidden by the end of the night.
First she would deal with Phantom, the snitch, then, tomorrow, she would deal with Sam. One thing at a time.
Part Two - You are here
Part Three
Part Two
We’d been walking for near on two days now, thankfully Ryder hadn’t questioned my height again and I’d managed to keep that part more or less under control. We also hadn’t come across any more giant arachnids, but we were approaching the last village before reaching Lightning Ridge, or at least that’s what Ryder had said near on two hours ago!
“Are we there yet?” I asked for the hundredth time, my legs were killing me, it wasn’t often that I had to cover this much ground while holding my human form.
“You’re like a whining child, I told you we were nearly there didn’t I?” He growled.
I sighed, falling behind him and stretching my aching muscles, I’d never stayed in my human form for longer than a day and I was starting to feel…cramped.
“It’s hard to believe you’ve travelled all around the county on foot with all this complaining, honestly.” He scoffed and I glared at his back.
‘Yeah well, you’re not the one trapped inside a body too small for you’ I hissed in my head. Normally this sort of walking would be fine, I’d usually be ten times this size, covering more ground faster than he could ever imagine and I’d be able to stretch out whenever I needed to. The concentration and energy it took for me to remain this size was becoming increasingly more difficult and exhausting.
The sooner we got to the village, the sooner I could make an excuse to explore on my own without his watchful eye and stretch myself out for a few hours.
“I don’t normally cover so much ground in a day.” I admit. “I take my time and rest when I feel like it.” I explained, he just scoffed again.
“When we get to town, we’ll find a smithy and see if we can’t get you a new sword seeing as you lost your old one.” He turned his head and gave me a calculating look, I looked away nervously.
“I hadn’t expected to need one so soon.” I said defensively.
We got to a rise in the trail and I noticed the forest around us start to become less dense and more spread out, as we got to the peak we were looking down onto a town.
“Thank the Gods.” I sighed, Ryder merely grunted in response and kept on going at his usual pace, I wanted to sprint down the incline.
From atop the rise the village had looked like a fairly large one, with many houses and streets, a few larger buildings made for holding many people but when we entered city limits there was scarcely a soul around.
“Not good.” Ryder muttered, he headed down a street, following a sign that read ‘Armarand Smithy’ and pushed the door open, ignoring the ‘closed’ notice plastered onto the window.
A small bell announced our arrival, and though the notice had said the place was closed, the workstations were hot and fresh working materials and metal projects lay littering the benches.
“Sorry folks, we’re closed.” Came a gruff voice, I glanced around and spotted a burly man sitting at a forge, spinning a large rod of iron within it.
“We’re hoping to purchase a sword, preferably a longsword made of silver.” Ryder said ignoring the man and looking around the blacksmiths wears to see if he could spot what he was looking for.
I shivered, silver was a weakness to shifters, and I wondered if I’d even be able to wield a sword made of the wretched stuff. Perhaps if the hilt was made of leather it would work, but I’ve never tested the theory.
“Fresh out of silver, I do have a few iron long swords…you looking to take down the beast?” He glanced up from his workstation, eyeing us carefully.
I tried not to sigh in relief too obviously, iron would be fine, I’d face the dilemma of not actually knowing how to wield a sword later. Ryder nodded and the man shook his head in disbelief.
“You’ll need more than a sword, good luck gentlemen.” He stood, his large body towering half a foot taller than us, he picked up a long sword off of the bench next to us and held it out. “Take it, you need it more than I do.”
Ryder took the sword giving it a thorough inspection before nodding in approval and digging for his coin purse.
“Not necessary, many have tried and failed to do what you set out to do, take this and I’ll pray for your souls.” He turned away, sitting back at the forge, getting on with his projects as though no exchange had been made at all. I shared a look with Ryder and after expressing our gratitude we headed back out into the street.
“You think the… Giant, has cleared out this town?” I asked, Ryder only grunted in response, he seemed to be deep in thought as he headed toward the Inn.
We secured two rooms for the night, the Innkeeper told us, that many men had tried to slay the beast, but none had returned thus far, with frequent raids on the village, the other townsfolk had all fled town or moved away, leaving a desolate shell of a village behind. He also wished us luck and told us he’d pray for our souls upon hearing our intentions.
“Well, I’m gonna go for a walk, don’t wait up, we’ll need a good night’s rest before we head into Lightning Ridge tomorrow.” I said offhandedly, hoping Ryder was planning on staying in his room for the evening and getting an early night’s sleep, while I could take the opportunity to stretch out. I’d need to regain my strength if we were to take down Blade.
“Excellent idea, let’s head out back and see how well you do with a sword.” Ryder smiled, pulling out the iron sword and handing it to me, I couldn’t hide my deflation, a training session with Ryder sounded exhausting and the Giant within me cried wishing to be let go.
Following Ryder, we found a clearing in the nearby forest, right on the edge of town to the west.
“Is this really safe to do, when we are so close to the Giant’s dwelling?” I asked holding my sword with both hands and mimicking Ryder’s fighting stance, a nervous sweat building on my forehead.
“If the brute chooses to attack us now then so be it, better to get it over with, besides I need to know what sort of fighter you are, now, show me what you’ve got.” He took on a defensive stance and I had no choice but to swing my sword, aiming for his chest, he easily deflected my attack and with an embarrassing amount of ease, he disarmed me, my sword clattering to the forest floor uselessly and his sword nicking my shoulder.
Where his silver sword had cut along my skin it burned and I covered the wound with my hand, hiding the obvious reaction I was having to the silver. Bad idea, this was a very bad idea, my body shook with the effort to remain human, I closed my eyes taking a breath and reaching for my sword again.
“Your stance is all wrong, and your eyes are stuck on my sword where they should be looking at my feet and at my eyes, you can always see you opponents next move that way.” He explained.
“Actually, I’m uh not feeling great, I might just turn in for the night, big day tomorrow and all.” I fumbled for an excuse to leave now before my identity was revealed, one more slash of his sword and I was sure to be discovered.
He blocked my path. “No.”
“We need to get this down now if you want to have any chance of surviving against the Giant.” He took on a fighting stance again, and I steeled myself, there would be no getting out of this.
This time with my life at stake, my swings were heavier, though Ryder continued to block my attacks, he didn’t disarm me this time and I kept a firm hold of my sword. My eyes darted between his feet and his eyes and I was able to predict a few of his movements but as he switched from defense to offensive maneuvers I found it increasingly difficult to predict his swings and defend myself accordingly, but I did, at least for a little while.
Feeling proud of lasting longer than thirty seconds this time, I used that confidence to counterattack. His body moved with the gracefulness of a cat as he avoided my strike to his ribs and thrust his sword at my neck, using a boot to knock me to the ground and knocking the air from my lungs.
My heart rate skyrocketed, looking into his fierce eyes, the sharpness of the many different hues of green and brown reflective and flashing in the evening sun, his sword dug into my neck. The wound sizzling and his gaze remained stern watching with suspicion.
“What are you?” He growled, I put my hands above my head in surrender and dropped my sword, but it was too late. My heart rate increased, and that cramped feeling in my bones only became worse until I could no longer hold it back anymore.
My body began to expand underneath him, knocking him off his feet as he scrambled off of my chest and backed further away into the forest, watching on in horror. I got to my feet, not wanting my neck to be anywhere near him as I continued to stretch up into the sky, my shoulders just reaching the tops of the immense pine trees surrounding us when I reached my full height of about sixty feet.
It felt amazing, like a really good back crack after a rough nights sleep, only ten times more relieving and the feeling spread all over me. I suppressed the urge to stretch my arms out completely and instead braced myself for the onslaught that was bound to come from the hunter at my feet.
Looking down at him felt strange, having spent the last few days seeing him from my human height, it felt wrong to see him so small, I kept my hands above my head in a sign of surrender as I crouched before him. “I can explain.” I said, keeping my voice low and being aware of how much louder I could be at this size.
“Y-you… you’re a-“ He stuttered unable to finish his sentence, I filled in the blanks for him.
“I’m a shifter.” I said carefully. “And I mean you no harm, my intention is as it always has been, to slay the monster in these woods.”
His breathing became heavy as rage consumed him.
“You are the monster!” He shouted. “You are the one I’ve been tracking all along! And you’ve been hiding right under my nose!” I flinched at his words, I should have been expecting that, of course he’d think I was the shifter he was after; it’d make sense to hide in plain sight.
He gave a war cry and lunged for my ankles. “Ooop!” I shuffled my feet away and then wrapped my fingers around his body, I pinched his sword between my finger and thumb wincing as the silver burned my flesh before flinging it into the nearby shrubbery.
With his hands free of a weapon, I held him before my face, his legs kicked at my fingers and his hands scratched furiously at my skin, but I didn’t relent my grip, it hurt my heart not to trust him enough to let him go.
He needed to cool off first.
“Ryder please listen to me, I am not the one you’re after, I swear to you I’ve never harmed a human soul in my life…at least not intentionally.” I added as an afterthought.
“Bullshit!” He fumed. “You’ve been lying to me this whole time, what makes you think I should believe anything you have to say!”
I sighed heavily, sitting myself down on the forest floor, deciding whether or not to wait out his anger or to let him go and make a run for it myself. I landed on the idea that perhaps he would see reason if he heard my story, my real story, it was worth a try at any rate.
“I was ten years old when I turned.” I said quietly.
“What?”
“I didn’t have a choice, I was born this way, as all shifters are.” I explained patiently, ignoring his confusion.
“I was deemed too dangerous to be around my family or my village anymore and I was cast away.” I continued, watching him carefully as he began to lose the gusto in which he was scratching at me.
“I became a nomad, spending a lot of my time in hiding and gaining control over my ability to shift. Once I’d gained that control I re-entered society, living among humans for the most part.” He glared at me then.
“However, I began to hear stories of a Giant who would raid villages, killing innocent people.” I loosened my grip on Ryder somewhat, wanting to appear as less of a monster in his eyes and praying to whatever Gods there might be, for him to listen to what I was saying.
“It was rare for me to come across other shifters, and the ones I did find, preferred to remain on their own and in hiding, like I had been doing. Staying out of trouble and living their lives in peace. But Blade…” I shook my head, still astounded to this day.
“When I found him, he was consumed with a hunger I’d never seen before and told me fantastical stories about how wonderful it felt to crush a living soul in his hands.” I flinched inwardly, realizing I wasn’t making the man currently in my grasp feel any more comfortable than he had felt before, I continued on anyway.
“When I expressed my disgust in his way of life, he attacked me, he left me there within an inch of my life, it took me weeks to recover but when I did, I vowed to myself that I would put a stop to him. That no more innocents would die at his hands.”
I met his eyes then, holding them in my gaze. “Please believe me Ryder, please help me to kill him.”
He remained quiet for some time, his face void of all emotion and stony as he thought over everything I had said.
“Will you release me?” He asked so quietly I almost didn’t hear him. “Of course.” I said and probably a little too quickly I lowered him to the ground and released my grip from him, watching him clumsily regain his footing.
“I suppose it all makes sense now” He mumbled.
“Why you travelled with only a dagger, why you seemed a little taller occasionally and why you had the strength to move the spider’s body off of me.” He began to pace the forest floor in front of me, one time almost running into my boot before he stared at it in disbelief and gave it a wide berth.
I remained quiet, letting him take in all the information I had just dumped on him, all the while keeping my hands firmly in my lap and trying to appear as un-intimidating as I could at this size.
“How do I know you’re not just trying to lure me into a false sense of security?” He mumbled, more to himself than to me, but I answered anyway.
“If I had wanted to kill you, don’t you think I would have done it by now? Why would I have saved you from the spider when I very well could have squished the spider and been done with you.” My answer came out harsher than intended, he looked up at me calculating whether or not I was telling the truth.
“Is your name even Hendrix?” He asked accusing.
“It is actually yeah, normally I give a fake name though I don’t know why I didn’t with you.” I petered off in thought, I had never in my life given my real name to anyone, even when crossing paths with other shifters.
“Can you like shrink back down or something, I can’t talk to you when you’re the size of a fucking building.” He growled, rubbing his sore neck from craning to look up at me.
I chuckled nervously. “Not for a little while I’m sorry.”
“I thought you said you had control of this…’ability’.” He said gesturing to my form up and down.
“Well, I do.” I insisted. “It’s difficult to explain but this is my natural form, holding my human size is actually quite exhausting, especially when I have to hold it in for a long time, two days is my new record.” I said smiling, when he didn’t match my elation, I deflated again. “So um it will take a little bit for me to regain enough energy to uh ‘shrink’ back down again.” I mumbled.
“I see.” He said thoughtfully.
As slowly as I could manage, I maneuvered my body so that I was laying on my stomach with my head resting on my arms in front of me, that way we could talk on a more equal level, and he wouldn’t have to strain himself.
He watched me the entire time I was moving, backing up a few steps to give me space and keeping his balance as my body vibrated the floor beneath him. It was an uncomfortable feeling, knowing a small movement on my part had such a huge impact on humans.
“Thank you.” He said slowly, almost as though it were a question, he still seemed awfully wary of me, but the murderous rage seemed to have left him for now.
“So ah, now that the cats out of the bag, we should talk game plan on how to take Blade down, yeah?” I suggested hopefully.
He crossed his arms over his chest. His shaggy dark brown hair moved with the breeze my breaths caused and I couldn’t help but find him somewhat adorable at this size, though I’d never say that out loud to him, that was a sure-fire way of getting my head chopped off.
“Does everything that you have on your person grow with you?” He asked.
“Oh, um yeah, my bag, clothes, everything that I have on my person at the time of the change, it’s kind of a package deal, and one I’m grateful for otherwise I’d go through a hell of a lot of clothes.” I rambled with a nervous chuckle.
“Shut up.” He said sternly and then met my eyes with a mischievous smile that finally reached his eyes as something seemed to click within his mind.
“I have an idea.”
‼️BORROWERS‼️
Thats right, I still post stuff about G/T!!!! Just a little less often. So here's my take on borrowers
They're very rodent like, legs of a rat, rodent tails, mouse ears, wiskers, they can hiss and make chittering sounds
They can walk on two legs and walk on all fours, walking up right being more efficient but all fours being faster
They sleep curled up
They have night vision and amazing hearing
Outside borrowers and Inside borrowers have very few physical differences but many cultural differences
Outside borrowers have clawed hands and are herbivores, Inside borrowers only have claws on their feet and are omnivores
Inside borrowers do not live in colonies as it increases their chance of being found while Outside borrowers have to live in colonies to decrease the chance of being killed by predators
Technically, all borrowers can climb up most surfaces with little assistance but inside borrowers have more trouble due to only having claws on their feet so they prefere to use a grapple
Most Inside borrowers can speak human languages due to growing up around them but Outside borrowers usually cannot
Extension of that, most Inside borrowers do communicate to eachother with human languages because if a human did hear it, they usually just blame naibours, their own mind or some sort of paranormal creature
Outside borrowers, however, communicate with their own chittery language as they have no reason to use or understand human words
Inside borrowers are usually much smaller than Outside borrowers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe thats all, I can't think of anything else
(If anyone would be interested in a fnaf borrower fic, movie or games, I might be interested in writing one 👁👁 [sfw of course])
Oncoming Storm
Chapter 18 of Be My Guest now up on AO3
Old Friends House of Hope Sanctuary
The calm of war settles over the House of Hope. Tav takes up regular fighting exercises again since they don't want to be helpless if another attack happens. They take to bringing a knife everywhere. It is a small thing but with a great boost for their confidence.
They also double down on their studies of infernal. Tav is invisible to most devils and they may drop useful information. Their lewd vocabulary is still growing faster than the rest since Haarlep insists on teaching.
Tav seeks refuge in the library. Raphael is antsy. Alliances with two hells and preparing to conquer another, one that is ruled by Asmodeus own daughter. Things can go dicey every moment.
When he visits Tav in his human form, they raise their brows in surprise. “Now that is a face I haven’t seen in quite a while.”
“You prefer another other one?”
“No.” Tav runs a hand over his cheek, the slight stubble scratching their palm. “I like them all. I just haven’t seen it for some time. What’s the occasion?”
“A visitor will arrive momentarily who will react better to this.” He smiles as he catches their hand and presses a kiss into Tav’s palm.
“So soft,” Tav murmurs and snuggle up against him. As human, Raphael is shorter and they could easily just-
Raphael places his finger over their mouth. “Later. We don’t want to let our visitor waiting.”
Tav stays glued to him, and slowly sucks the tip of his finger into their mouth. It is almost new to caress a fingertip that doesn’t sport sharp, pointed nails.
“Impossible.” Raphael ends Tav’s interlude with a kiss. When he pulls back, the devil is smiling, though.
Tav yields and threads an arm through his as they walk the short way from the library to the foyer. The portal is already dimming down again, leaving a lone human standing in the room. When he turns to face the new arrivals, Tav rips free of their devil and jumps at new arrival.
“Gale!”
“Tav?” The wizard replies, closing his rams around Tav who hugs him with the determination of a constrictor.
“I’m so happy to see you.” Tav relents but stays stuck to his side, both arms around the wizard’s waist. “Raphael didn’t tell me it was you. Naughty.” They send their devil a mock reproachful glance.
“I imagined you like surprises.” Raphael saunters over. “I seem to be quite correct.”
“You said you are looking to secure an important asset,” Gale says carefully. “I am here to – consider. Depending on what it is we are talking about.”
“Of course.” Raphael turns on the charm. “All business, like your good friend here used to be. Very professional.”
“You plan to deal with Raphael?” Tav can’t believe it. “What in the hells are you thinking?”
“Hypocrite much?” Gale asks back. “And Raphael has offered a solution to my magical consumption problem.”
“He did?” Tav eyes the devil warily. “And in return you secure his stuff?”
“That is how I understood it. But,” he looks at Tav solemnly, “you remember Hope? I am not agreeing to anything unless I know what that asset is and what I am supposed to do to secure it.
“You are holding on to it already,” Raphael smirks.
The humans jerk apart.
“Me?” Tav asks.
“Them?” Gale wants to know at the same time.
“How very quaint of you.” Raphael laughs. “Yes, I am talking about Tav. I want to make sure they cannot be harmed in this place. The fiends are – heedless and I do not want an incident. Especially not one that may look like an accident.”
“Tav?” Gale asks. “Why not just leave? Come with me.”
“Um.” Tav takes a moment to stare at their toes.
“I see you need some time.” Raphael puts a hand on a shoulder of each human. “Take your time, eat, drink, the Feast Hall and the library are yours.” With a smile at Tav he adds: “You know where to find me.”
“Are you alright?” Gale asks as soon as Raphael is out of earshot.
Tav nods and takes his arm. “I can explain. Mostly. But not here. You hungry? Food has improved in the mouldless department. And I can get my hands on some excellent tea.”
Gale follows reluctantly and offers no input on the choice of nibbles. Tav falls back on their times together and hopes for the best. When they open the door to the library, Gale whistles.
“This is new.” He takes in the three levels of books. “Last time we were here, I am certain it was a balcony.”
“Yep.” Tav puts down the tray on a table and pulls up another chair. “I was totally getting on Raphael’s nerves. It keeps me busy.”
“I assume there is a reason you do not return to Baldur’s Gate?” Gale settles in a chair, looking none too comfortable.
“I-“ Tav hesitates. “I was stupid. And now I cannot leave. I mean I could if I want to end up dead and then my soul goes, well, it goes to a place I don’t want it in. And it is not the House of Hope. I’m here for my own safety.”
“How long?”
“Not sure, but it isn’t forever. I am looking forward to being able to leave again. I don’t know when, but it will happen.”
“And Raphael..?”
“Is good to me, no deal necessary. Which, I admit, surprising, but I won’t question it.”
“Playing the long game for your soul?” Gale doesn’t sound convinced.
“Maybe.” Tav shrugs. “Not sure my soul is worth that much though.”
“You know what?” Gale reaches for a biscuit. “If he’s not after your soul, I don’t think I wanna know. Truly. Oh my. You realise there are bite marks all over your throat, yes?”
Tav blushes violently. Subconsciously, they know. After all they are very present when the biting happens and may have returned the favour, though they are less prone to drawing blood. Unlike the very sharp teeth of a certain devil. It just never comes up.
Burying their head in their hands Tav groans. They are a walking advertisement of their own doom. Of course the other devils don’t consider them worth a second glance – plaything of their master. Out of bounds even if obviously delicious enough to bite pieces off.
“I take that as a no.” Gale sighs. “At least I can be sure it is you. Nobody else is that oblivious.”
“That is the consensus in this house, yes,” Tav agrees. “But enough of me, tell me everything. About you. About the others. Everything I missed!”
“Do we have time for that? Devils aren’t known for their patience.”
“If Raphael was in a hurry, he wouldn’t have let me alone with you,” Tav laughs. “He knows me.”
Gale doesn’t grace that with a reply. Instead he launches into a detailed report of his doings before branching out to the others. Tav sits happy to listen and sip on their tea.
In the middle of Wyll and Karlach’s most recent endeavours in Avernus, Gale stops with his mouth open and eyes glued to the door.
When Tav follows his glance, they find Haarlep sauntering towards them, their predatory lust in full swing.
“What have we here?” Haarlep asks, devouring the wizard with their eyes. “Oh, I wondered where you were, dear,” they add curtly at Tav.
“Having a visitor, as you can see. My friend Gale, who is not a treat, Haarps. Gale, you may remember Haarlep from our last visit.”
“Darkly,” the wizard says but still offer his hand. “It doesn’t feel like a memory I am supposed to have.”
“Oh, let me help you with that,” the incubus purrs, taking Gale’s hand with both of their own.
“Haarps!” Tav cuts in sharply. “If Gale doesn’t want to remember me fucking nasty with an incubus that is his good right. Unlike others in this room, he does have decency.”
“What a shame he’s all alone with that.”
Tav huffs. "Still not over the fact that I don't want to sleep with you?"
"Maybe." Haarlep grins mischievously. "Something I am certain you can help me get over." They lean towards Gale and Tav can feel the magic roll off the incubus.
"Not for you, Haarps," they repeat.
"You absolute spoilsport." The incubus sighs theatrical. But they relent on the wizard. "Alright. I'll just be going then, playing lanceboard against myself."
"Lanceboard?" Gale perks up.
"Gale, don't."
"Oh, but please, Gale do." Haarlep leans back in. "Tav can use any help they can get. They lose every single time."
"You didn't tell me you play lanceboard now." He sounds offended. "You know I would love a game. We can talk as we play."
"I cannot play, Gale," Tav tries. "I was roped into losing against Haarlep because-" they shut up. How to explain that lanceboard was easier to interrupt for a quick fuck than a song and dance number. "Alright. I'll get the board. I can see that this is the price I will have to pay for my information."
They follow Haarlep and give a complete lecture on how Gale is not a snack and isn't to be seduced.
"I would be easier to mollify if you'd send somebody my way," the incubus pouts. "You said you might and then you didn't in a while."
"Alright, alright. I'll do my best to send you somebody. Something juicy, okay? Complacent cunt with a hubris. How's that sound?"
"Exactly like the type that would arrive here in service of Mephistopheles." Haarlep licks their lips. "Be a dove and try not to forget about it again."
"I swear." Tav rises to their toes to give the incubus a peck on the cheek. "And maybe, if you can one day credibly swear you won't eat him up, I may allow you a game of lanceboard with him. But I warn you, Gale can play."
"Finally a challenge." The incubus sweeps up the game and drops it into Tav's arms. "At least in one respect."
Tav carries the board to the library where Gale eagerly helps setting it up. It takes two games for him to finish his updates.
"You're not half bad," he tells Tav. "If you are losing so quickly, Haarlep has to be very good."
"They are certainly full of it." Tav pours some more tea. "Coming back to the reason you're here. What did Raphael ask?"
The wizard hesitates, a smart reaction. "Not much. Just that he needs magical protection for one of his assets and that I needed to come here to secure it. Are you in danger?"
"A little." Tav blushes. "As I said, my soul will go unsavoury place if I die so we try to avoid that. While others try to hasten it to curry favours with the unsavoury in question."
"People come here to kill you?" Gale takes their hand. "I will do what I can to keep you safe, my friend."
"Thank you. I – it's lonely here sometimes and I wish Raphael allowed visitors more often. But I understand. " Tav forces a smile. "Most visitors want to kill either me or him. Often both."
"He should hire a bodyguard." Gale brightens. "I know one, excellent track record, superbly fit for Avernus. Maybe you heard of her? A tiefling with the name of Karlach?"
Tav laughs but it turns wistful quickly. "You know, that is an excellent idea, really. She protects me and in return Raphael gives her an actual heart. Everybody is happy and I am not that lonely."
"You may have your hands full convincing her those bite marks are worth anything though. She's not one to endorse of anything fiendish."
Tav's hand sneaks back to their throat. Turtle necks - they will have to look into that. A good thing Gale can't see how deep the teeth marks wander. "It will keep me in shape," they reply. "Let's go find Raphael. I hope whatever you do will take very, very long so you can stay for a bit."
"That makes one of us." Gale rises as well and follows Tav out of the library. "I am hoping to get out of here at the soonest. It's not a place for humans."
Tav can't object to that. They lead him down the broad stairs and though there is two of them now, they still have to get out of the way of the devils milling around. The door to Raphael’s study is open and they don't have to wait long before the devil notices them lingering and sweeps his current clients out.
"All caught up, I assume." He stands and walks around the huge desk. His fingers trail over the polished surface in a way that wakes many memories. Tav swallows. It's a great desk.
"Yes," Gale replies oblivious of, or acutely ignoring, the tension between Raphael and Tav. "Tav told me a little about how life is here and where danger might come from. But I think you can shed deeper light on the latter part."
"Of course." Raphael leans against the desk. "I need Tav to be untouchable, yet free to move around the house as they wish. No weapon or spell must touch them. No harm can come to them under my roof."
Gale blinks at the ferocity of the words. He looks at Tav who is thinking, eyes shifting between the polished wood of the desk and the devil leaning against it. "Armour is out of the question, I assume."
"I need them protected out of armour," Raphael explains. "When Tav is armoured up, they are fighting and capable to look after themself. I need them safe when the armour comes off."
"Like Sanctuary," Tav brightens. "I can just cast that on myself, can I not?"
"Not when you are sleeping," Gale throws in. "Or unconscious. But the approach is solid.”
He continues to devolve into magic speak with Raphael and Tav is content just watching the two argue back and forth. As one point, Gale draws a crude map of the House of Hope one fresh paper pinned over the map of the hells. With Raphael’s guidance he marks several places and connects some with lines.
Tav is completely lost on the details, but they get that the points are foci for some kind of spell that is supposed to cover the whole house. Their heart beats fast. Tav knows how much energy and money such a thing would cost. The thought that Raphael thinks them worth the expenses-
"That will do," the devil decides and lets a hand descend on Gale's shoulder. "Do it."
"I will need-"
"Give me a list," Raphael interrupts and parchment a quill appear hanging before Gale.
The wizards takes them with a glance at Tav and starts to write. "It's not much but some things are tricky to come by. And I will say you are lucky you have me. No normal wizard can do what you want."
Raphael takes the list, and after looking it over, hands it back to Gale. "Everything you need is in the throne room. Begin at your own discretion. Be quick and if you need helping hands, any devil in this house is at your disposal."
He half guides, half pushes the surprised wizard out of the room. Tav follows in time to hear their friend welp when he finds everything he requested neatly stacked on a trolley.
"Prepare everything in the library. It should be enough for a few extra dummies." Raphael snaps his fingers and the trolley vanishes in a small cloud of dust. "Let me know when you are ready for the last step."
Tav watches their devil retreat and shrugs at Gale. "I hope I can help somehow? You know my level of magic."
"I do but you can." He follows them through the throne room back up the stairs. "A lot is assembling the material components which will go up around the house. I show you how to put them together and the I'll bespell them.”
"How long will it take?" Tav bounces. Finally something to do. Finally a friend to do something with. Old times rise at the back of their mind and they set to work smiling. Soon they are chatting easily with Gale, the severity of the situation blown clean from their mind.
After a snack they move through the house positioning the small items and making them invisible. They take the same care for the dummies and Haarlep offers their help for the right to look without any respect at all.
After stoutly refusing to let them handle a dummy, Tav yields and lets the incubus put up an active spell engine. They are preening horribly while doing so but Gale is oblivious to the display of offered features.
"Anything special I should bring to the grand finale?" Tav asks when they make their way back to Raphael's study.
"Just yourself. After all, you are the main ingredient for the last step."
"I am slightly worried somebody is going to try and stuff an apply in my mouth," Tav, chuckles.
"We can get you an apple if you think it will help." Gale bumps them gently in the side.
They arrive in the throne room where the door to Raphael's study is already open for them.
"He does keep tabs on you," Gale observes. "Doesn't that worry you?"
Tav looks at the devils milling about. "I would be more worried if he didn't."
Gale follows their gaze. "Point taken." He closes the heavy door behind them.
Since Tav cant sit on their devil's lap, they chose the table instead and dangle with their feet. "So, what now?"
"Now Mr Dekarios will cast magic over you and the House," Raphael replies, his eyes fixed on the wizards. "A spell that protects Tav."
"Most certainly." Gale switches into explanation mode. "It will work like a perpetual Sanctuary. As long as you are out of armour, it will take effect."
"Why not in armour?" Tav wonders.
"When you are armoured, I assume you are abut to partake in violent interactions." Gale grins. "I know you. Do not try to deny it. But the most energy of this magic is consumed when it changes states. A fight will force many changes, one each time you attack. It is easier to trust your prowess and keep the magic for when you armour down again."
Tav tilts their head. "I like it. That's really smart and I don't think it could be done."
"It can't."He swells with pride. "But I can."
"Anyway, instead of all this," Tav gestures vaguely, "we could just have gotten me a bodyguard, you know? I'm sure Karlach is open to it and she has experience."
"Noted," Raphael only says to their surprise. "But a spell doesn't have to sleep."
A valid point and somewhat worrying.
"Ready whenever you are," Gale cuts in.
"We are." Raphael holds out his hand to help Tav from the desk. They take it and lean on him because it feels good. They let him position them before the wizard who straightens in preparation. He starts enunciating and though Tav listens attentively, they can't even make out words. Every now and then, Gale puts a hand onto their body, pressing his palm between their collarbones or neck.
The spell takes hold slowly. It spreads from the base of Tav's neck to the shoulder blades and meets again at the small of their back where it stabs through to their navel and back up to the hollow of their throat. It cuts like wires of gold and starlight as it settles into their skin and flesh.
Tav shakes experimentally when Gale takes a step back to examine his work. But the effect merged into them already, invisible, intangible, nothing more than a layer of silver spiderweb.
"There." Gale decides. "Done."
Tav turns tentatively. They don't feel much different. Everything looks like before, too; even the spots they felt the magic take hold. Tav pulls their collar wide to stare down a their shirt. When an infernal fist surges at them, they blink in disbelief and forget to evade.
Raphael's punch bounces off harmlessly. The devil follows up with a fire ray which doesn't reach Tav either. "Excellent," he pronounces. Then he turns his attention to Gale. "Now, to the matter of your compensation. If you could wait outside for a moment, Tav?"
Tav blinks and glances from their devil to the wizard who nods.
"If I need you I'll call," he says with a smile and Tav doesn't have the heart to tell him every room down here is soundproof. Instead they shrug and leave.
It feels strange to wait outside. Devils walk by checking if the door is open. They rarely spare more than a glance for Tav. Still they feel better knowing that even if they wanted to, they could not hurt them. Not any longer. Of course, the same isn't true for Haarlep. Tav chews on their lip. With luck, Raphael wouldn't try to lure anybody again by letting Haarlep pose as them.
"Did he cure you?" they ask as soon as gale steps out of the room.
"Mostly," the wizard replies. "There is one more thing I have to do that only I can do. But it is doable and well within my abilities."
"And that is okay? In accordance with the deal you made.?"
"Yes, do not worry. I got what I asked for. And I hope that so did he." Gale looks his friend over with a sigh. "I didn't think I'd be so thorough working for that devil. But protecting you, he sure has my full abilities. We worry, Tav. And not much I saw here alleviates my fears any."
"It would be worse for me if I left. And here I am," Tav gesticulates helplessly.
"Appreciated?" Gale suggests. "Are you happy here?" Gale asks, cupping their face with one hand.
Tav thanks before answering. "I'm – it’s not. I'm not unhappy here. But I want more. I want something to do. A purpose. Moving about and seeing my friends again. But it’s not bad here. And Raphael is good to me."
"Maybe." Gale touches a bloody crust on Tav's throat wistfully. "But he won't take well to you leaving him."
"I'm not leaving him," Tav huffs indignant. "Like you didn't leave me when you returned to Waterdeep. And Lae'zel didn't leave me to lead her people in resistance. We are still we. We are still one."
"He's a devil," Gale says softly. "Such nuance may be lost on him."
They embrace and Tav can't help shedding a tear. "I wish I was coming with you."
"So do I." Gale takes a deep breath as the portal hums into life. "Write. Make the devil deliver. We miss you Tav."
Tav keeps the smile forced over their face until their friend vanished. Then they let it fall apart, dribbling to the floor in wet pieces. The House of Hope is suddenly huge and full of strangers. They curl up in themself and rock with their back against a far soul pillar.
Note
hear me out, the quarry characters as actual wolves. I'm talking fluffy twilight wolves that dont maul you to death on sight.
I've been sitting on this for like a month and I finally cracked 😭this prompt is so cute Hacketeers react to: werewolf s/o!
Tumblr media
˖° Abi:
Isn't even phased. She had a Twilight phase when she was little, and you bet your ass she was Team Jacob. She's so fascinated by this new canine side of you, especially the mottling of your coat. If she's feeling bold enough, she shyly asks you to shapeshift for her, so she can use you for a pose reference. She was never interested in drawing canines until you came along, and now half of her portfolio are wolves. Abi isn't keen on the idea of you turning her into a werewolf, but she likes to imagine what she would look like as one. If you notice the black wolf with red highlights in her notebook, you don't need to ask who that's based on. There is one thing that she really likes doing, where she puts her hands on the sides of your face and smooshes it. She says you look like a sleepy old bear whenever she does it.
✧˖° Dylan:
Screams. Dylan does not know what the fuck to think about this new revelation. How long have you?? been able to do that??? It will take him some time to adjust, but he eventually comes to love this side of you just as much as the human one. Starts making dog references every chance he gets; probably gonna call you wolfy or puppy now. One of his favorite things is to curl up and take a nap with you in your wolf form, says something about you being really comfy. When he's certain you're the person he wants to spend forever with, he takes you up on your offer to turn him because "Yolo, right?". Comes out the other end with a pretty gray coat, with four white feet that look like socks. He's VERY pressed that he ended up being smaller than you.
✧˖° Emma:
Another unbothered Queen. She's not sure what to think at first, but she accepts you all the same, so long as you don't get fur all over the house. Honestly, there is nothing more she loves than going on a long hike and watching you run around like the big ol' dog you are. There's one day where you accidentally get caught in the background of her Livestream, and she plays it off, saying that you're a wolfdog she recently rescued. Your internet name is now Gumdrop, and you have your own Instagram, TikTok, and miniature fandom. Emma gets so used to calling you Gumdrop online that she starts calling you by it even when you're walking around on two legs.
✧˖° Jacob:
"You can turn into a dog??" All Jacob knows is that he's excited; you're basically an oversized puppy in his eyes. You really expected him to struggle to keep your secret, but he never once slips up, surprisingly. Jacob wants to do all the cute stuff, racing to see who's faster (you're always faster, but sometimes you just let him win), fetch with an oversized frisbee, etc. He wants to be a werewolf so bad that it almost hurts you to hold off on it, but you want to be certain that this is a good idea before you go through with it. It comes as no surprise that he comes out bigger than you, with this brown and black coat that you've never seen before. It's probably for the best, though, because he's always rolling in mud and the singular white spot on the end of his tail is never visible.
✧˖° Kaitlyn:
Jokes on you; she's had her suspicions this whole time. Kaitlyn is one of the few people privy to the whole werewolf thing; she even knows that there are different types. Apparently, one night your tail popped out whilst you were asleep, and she saw it poking out from under the covers the next morning. She really doesn't treat you any differently; at most, she asks you to come along grocery shopping to help her pick out the ripest produce, and if she's suspicious about the age of something, she'll bring it to you to sniff. Kaitlyn takes care of most of the cooking, so you don't really mind. You've saved the both of you from several run-ins with bad food, particularly the questionably dated Peanut Butter Butter Pops that Jacob found last week. One of Kaitlyn's favorite dates is going to a dog park and listening to all the tea. Who knew dogs had so much drama?
✧˖° Laura:
Wow. Okay...you just did that. Laura's more confused as to how the hell you changed forms, more than she is about the whole wolf thing in general. The shock wears off relatively fast for her, she's just too curious to stay surprised. Are there different species? Are any of the myths true? There's a whole notebook dedicated to all she's learned about you, and she somehow figures out that you have a pressure point that makes you shift forms. When she gets into the veterinary program, she asks to practice a lot of the teachings on you, and how can you tell her no when she's already ordered a stethoscope off Amazon? Laura is always very gentle with you when she tries these bizarre medical things out, always pets the soft spot behind your ears when she's working. Once she dyed your tail rainbow, and you're still seeing remnants of the color to this day.
✧˖° Max:
Hwat :D Max really does not know if that bag of fruit snacks he ate earlier was actually fruit snacks or not. Sort of just...ambles up to you and puts his hand on your head to see if...yep, this is very, very real. Max honestly does not think anything different of you, you're still you at the end of the day, and even if he wasn't aware of it, it's always been a part of you. He has a lot of trust in you and never once considers that you could hurt him whilst in this form. You could hold his hand between your teeth, and he'd just let you. There was one night when you were lying on his chest and shifted in your sleep, and Max just let you stay there. Despite the fact that it was suddenly a lot harder to breathe with all that weight on top of him. He really enjoys taking you on camping dates, where you can 100% be yourself with nobody to impose. He even saves up for a big tent so you can sleep in your wolf form. You haven't let on that you know he only bought it because he loves burying his face in your soft fur and falling asleep like that.
✧˖° Nick:
Thinks that it's the coolest gift ever. He already thought you were special before, but this just solidifies it. After learning of your other half, Nick's tiny gifts begin to have a theme. A wolf trinket, a paw print sticker he found at the dollar store, this really pretty wolf sculpture, etc. He fully embraces the whole wolf thing with open arms, no complaints here. You have him on your phone as "Golden Retriever," and he has you as "Wolf." Your friends think it's some bizarre gag that's gotten out of hand, and nobody ever realizes that Nick is being somewhat serious when he says he can't go to that arcade next Sunday, it's a full moon, and you need the whole day to prep to howl at the moon all night. In reality, he's the only one who's howling at the moon, but you humor him and go with it. Every once in a while, Nick will grab a ball and throw it across the yard because he swears up and down that every canine on Earth has the urge to chase things. He's right, of course, but you're keeping that one a secret.
✧˖° Ryan:
"When you said you had something to show me, I really expected you to have Jacob locked in the back of your trunk again." Ryan isn't sure if he will ever wrap his head around the concept of werewolves being real. Every time he sees your canine frame, it's like the first time all over again. He does, however, take to listening to Werewolf themed podcasts and conspiracy videos with you. He thinks its so nifty to hear people debating the concepts of werewolves, whilst having you, an actual werewolf, right next to him. Once, he read that werewolves don't like silver, and he immediately cleared out all of his silver jewelry. Even if it doesn't affect you, he worries that somehow it may subconsciously make you uncomfortable, and he will NOT let that happen on his watch. Ryan is so attentive when it comes to you, and he wants to make sure that he doesn't make either side of you feel uneasy. Overtime, he picks up this habit of playing with your tail, for no reason other than its soft.
September Sky Chapter One, Part 6
I smiled to myself. I didn't know the bar at all, but I also knew all but jack shit about Walker's Point. Hell, I was still learning things about my own neighborhood. It didn't really matter though. I'd get to hang out with my friend. It'd been about two months since the last time we hung out physically. And it'd be kind of cool to see Alana again too. We use to hang on the edges of the same circles in high school, and I had a massive crush on her for a really long time. But I wasn't a very smart teenager, and resorted to the childish way of telling a girl you liked them. I mocked her relentlessly. I was in the first grade again, pulling the hair of the girl I liked.
ME: Yeah, I should be to get a Saturday night off. I never do, so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll probably have to go in Sunday to do the numbers and stuff but fuck it. It'll be worth it. It'll be a good time. I haven't seen Alana in fucking years.
It was Tuesday, and I always had Tuesday's off. My schedule was pretty routine, and it rarely changed in any way. I really could go in pretty much whenever I wanted, and just because I dressed and thought in that punk rebellion feeling, didn't mean that I didn't take huge pride in my job. I had worked my way up from a dishwasher back in Oconomowoc. And now I was the kitchen manager and lead line in Milwaukee. I liked the work. And the workplace is where I've made the few friends I have in Milwaukee. I couldn't make real friends on the campus because nothing forces me to talk another human being. Work does. Plus, the money was ok. I didn't worry about much. My bills were paid and if I really wanted something, I got it. I was comfortable.
It was 3:35. Time to make my way back across the bridge and up to the campus. I left, and about fifteen minutes later I was sitting on a table in the campus cafeteria. I won't lie, I hurried here. I could have slowly walked and still would have had time, but for once, I wanted to be somewhere. I had my headphones and was listening to Green Day's Kerplunk! album. I sat there, mumbling along to '2000 Light Years Away" and letting my eyes scan the cafeteria. I didn't really expect her to show. So I hoped for the best, and prepared for the worst.
It was running on 4:30 when I decided she had done the sensible thing. It sucked, quite a lot actually, and I was bummed about it. I couldn't really be upset with her though. It was the smarter choice. I sighed heavily, and stood up. Only for my iPod to fall to the floor, yanking my headphones off and under the table. I bent down to pick them up and head back home.
"So, are you always dropping something?" A perfect voice asked from behind me. I grabbed my stuff and jerked back up.
"What can I say? You can find some pretty rad stuff on the floor," I shot back. I was only half joking. My mouth moves faster than my brain a lot of the time, and because of it, I can come off as a horrible insufferable sarcastic smart-ass.
"I bet," she laughed. I could listen to that laugh forever.
"So coffee or?" I asked. Dammit, gain control of your words, stupid.
"Would mind something a little stronger? It's been a rough day, and I could use a drink." She looked at me with her bright shining eyes. It was only then I noticed the tired look. The dead and waiting look of a college student. A college student who actually cares about school.
"No, that's cool. Whatever you want to do. Where did you want to go?" I asked. I knew a few bars around Riverwest. I may not like people, but I do like music, and there's a lot of live music in the bars of Riverwest. And I liked a drink, like anyone else. Maybe a little more. It knocked out the anxiety. I preferred to smoke weed though. No hangover. And it makes me eat. Another thing I just never really do.
We all know that Wick has a metal leg and call me stupid but I always forget that because you seem to rarely draw it. And that makes me wonder: how did he even get it in the first place? And just how much of a problem was it to get used to it? Because I can imagine him falling face first in the first week or so before he finally got used to it.
Ah dw you are not stupid for forgetting about something I barely show, even because I have been trying to redesign his leg into something more consistent that can stay for the future instead of confusing people on what is the right leg design for Lampwick, that’s why I have been sticking to halfbodies drawings of him most of the time.
His leg got amputated after heavily passing out at the end of chapter 4 . The one to do the operation was Panacea himself ( Owl doctor ) when he still worked for the alchemist and before witnessing one of the many tragedies of his own experiment to find a cure ( in which Lampwick was one of the guinea pigs ).
Wick’s leg was severely in gangrene and it would have spread across his body, probably ending up a carcass like his roommate, Alexander. So instead of killing him, Paracelsus requested Panacea to spare him because “he could still be useful” even without a limb.
He was pretty knocked out into the surgery, Panacea didn’t even need to administer anesthesia to remove the rotten leg, he simply went with the saw and then attach a legion leg ( very similiar to P’s arm ) powered by legion charges ( yeah, Wick’s leg has a sort of in-battery built in, he needs charges in order to use it since it is basically attached to his body and can’t remove it ) and that’s it.
Of course when you wake up from a surgery table, in Lampwick’s case, the first thing you ask yourself is how you ended up there to then realise “where the fuck has my leg gone?” Lampwick didn’t take it easily psychologically especially for the chronic pain of the missing limb. He was heavily tied up to the bed shouting in pain and crying through a convulsion, until Panacea heard him awake. That was not easy to deal or to elaborate for Wick since everything happened too sudden for him from getting sick >>> losing a limb.
He felt scared and alone.
Panacea was the only one to take care of Wick as his patient but eventually got knocked out by him in attempt to escape. Lampwick truly went into a “fuck this shit I’m out” state after discovering that for the alchemist he was just a mere experiment, leave and basically become what we all know a love today.
He indeed took time to get used to the leg, probably more than normally since his nerves were basically exposed to the point to cause him continuous chronic pain by walking and falling many times because of it. His will to survive was the only thing keeping him alive even though sometimes death could have been tempting.
Also fun fact : I tend to meme a lot about Lampwick’s boobs and stuff but the muscolar body he has build up is not something he went willingly. Since he was a Bastard and a bodyguard and bodyguards need to have big bodies in order to act as human shields, the alchemist involved with the research to a cure used the Bastards themselves as their Guinea pigs. The medicine was hidden in their meals secretly mixed with steroids and since steroids tend to increase blood pressure, the blood flow because of that is increased giving them faster results in those that could be considered “separable” or “failures”. Lampwick was in constant movement and training with the other bodyguards so none of them never questioned why their bodies were changing drastically. They thought it was all “part of the the training process.”
Hope this answers your questions! Took me a while to find the right words to make it make sense haha
I'm definitely with you on the nostalgia for the early pandemic. 2020 felt a lot more hopeful to me in a way - everybody seemed to be on the same page (as you said), and it almost felt like this would be an opportunity to turn some stuff around. Like, actually tackling climate change felt like a real possibility. There was such a feeling of solidarity and banding together in the face of a crisis. And then it all seemed to go downhill even more - I couldn't believe it when they didn't waive the patent for the vaccines, I think that was the final turning point for me. And all the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers... I didn't think I could lose this much faith in humanity, but I've become a lot more cynical and I feel more alienated from everyone else than I did pre-pandemic.
I agree completely with this. And I think you're right about the vaccine patents being a turning point. It was so amazing and inspiring to watch the work that was done to create the vaccines, people waiving all kinds of normal products of capitalism and corporate greed to work together and save the world faster. But as soon as it was in the hands of people who could afford it, all the incentive to do that went away.
Forgive me for taking any excuse to post a Gavin Osborn song again, but I do understand what you’re describing, it’s this specific feeling that I have only once heard explained in such specific detail by someone else:
youtube
The feeling of walking around your own city, or wherever you live, and distrusting every person you pass, because you know that statistically a lot of them are assholes. And every time it happens it’s a bit painful, but if it happens every time you leave the house over a long enough time period, it gets really existentially demoralizing.
The song was originally written about Brexit, it can obviously apply to other major things too, I don’t even live in the States but we’re similar enough to them culturally so I’ve pretty much had at least a low level of that feeling consistently since October 2016. I didn’t realize until recently that it was a low level, which I now know because of how much higher it’s been turned up since the rise of the anti-vax/anti-mask/NO MANDATES movement. I’ve discovered a whole new gear for that feeling, and I agree with you, it’s the most alienated I’ve ever felt.
Didn’t help that for three weeks last year we had a bunch of them take over my city and specifically my neighbourhood, so every time I left the house I really did look at each person and try to work out whether they were a local who deserved the solidarity of a commiserating nod from me that we were making our way through the imposed chaos together, or if they were a protester who’d traveled here to impose the chaos. I mean, sometimes you could tell. The ones holding Canadian flags were always the bad guys, so that symbol’s been utterly ruined, that’s fun. The ones holding Confederate flags – also pretty fucking clear. I haven’t shaken off that sense of everywhere being enemy territory, even though it’s been a year since then.
Anyway, I’ve taken this over and made it about me (“I’ve taken this over and made it about me” could be the tagline for this entire blog), but thanks for the message, I genuinely appreciate knowing that some people understand this and see it the same way. I think you’re absolutely right about how and why it’s happened, and I wish I had a less bleak way to end this post, but I can't really think of one.
It’s genuinely bothering me that I can’t think of anything nice to say to conclude this, so here, have another Gavin Osborn song. Some people are all right.
ARGONUS INFO: a guide on the other flora and fauna
(NOTE: description copy-pasted from DA where i normally post my works. any context that is missing here on tumblr can be found on my DA [linked here and on pinned post] )
[also, this was at a time i used to claim that plants were 4X bigger. i decided later on to make it 3.5X bigger like the rest of the lifeforms because it was way easier. nowadays, the "3.5X scale" is just a rough guide to how large the fauna is.]
Tumblr media
unlike the previous two guides with the elkinets and the aeronoids, this one is a little shorter and more simple.
    planet argonus is a copy-planet, also known as a copycat planet or a parallel planet. these planets copy another planet's features, often right down to lifeforms and geography. however, each copy planet's lifeform tend to have some kind of weird evolutionary quirk going on. the most common of cases is generally manipulating what's already there, such as size, shape and color. and argonus tends to be the prime example of that. not only are the lifeform's bigger in their dimensions (i.e. 3.5x taller/longer), but vertebrates are also got more going on than size.     of course, it's not that they're only just copies of our plants and animals (both extant and extinct). there are a plethora of lifeforms unique to argonus. most of the time these lifeforms aren't too distantly related nor too highly derived from other existing ones on our planet. at the most distantly related, they'll belong to the same taxonomical superorder as their relatives, though it is more common to have them share the same genus or family.
PLANTS & FUNGUS     lets start simple enough; the plants are 3.5x the size of our own. despite the planet and flora being bigger, the amount of oxygen is still comparable to that of earth's (as well a gravity and such).
INVERTABRATES     invertebrates, like bugs, crustaceans and mollusks, are 3.5x bigger than earth's, much like all other animals her on argonus. the invertebrates, apart from their size, don't really have much going for them. they, like the plants, are just regulars-looking invertebrate that are bigger.
VERTABRATES     this is where argonus get's its notoriety as a copy-planet. like the invertebrates, they're also 3.5x bigger, however that's not all that's going on. they also have the following:
-four eyes: their main pair and a second, smaller pair below them. both upper and lower eye sockets are connected to each other. although the pairs can move independently from each other, usually only one pair will move while the other doesn't or follows directly in suit (ie lower pair looks right, upper pair stares strait or also looks right). their sight is only slight better because of the extra eyes.
-four earholes: they share both the same hole and the same eardrum. similar with the eyes, it's only slightly better, if not completely the same as their earth's counterpart
-extra limbs: specifically, they have an extra set of forelimbs. some argonain vertebrates will have a slightly longer spine to accommodated the extra limbs they have. humans, when first encountering the argonian fauna, initially though the extra limbs made them faster than their earth counterpart when in reality it actually because their bigger size allows them to do so. when walking, their forelimbs move in sync so as not not have it a tripping hazard.
extra other stuff: if an animal has any horns, canines, tusks, etc.., then often the argonian version will have double that. some argonian animals will also keep certain ancestral traits (ie whales with vestigial hind limb or modern horses with three-toed hooves like mesohipus). sometimes, one group will share certain traits with eachother (ex. all perissodactyls have a long-ish tail, including short-tailed/tailless taxons)
those are just the really basics of it when talking about the vertebrates as a whole. however, each class has its own unique look to them when looking at what vertebrates on argonus have.
mammals     the mammals are often used as a good example of showing those extra ears. while their four eyes may not be as free-moving, the ears are. if a mammal on earth has independently-moving ears, then there's a good chance their argonian version has all four doing the same. this gives them a slightly better range of hearing, being able to pick up sounds from different direction.
reptiles     all reptiles have a single line of noticeable spikes going down their back. these spikes can appear however they want, but are usual thin and pointy. these spikes are also present in non-mammalian synapsids and most archosaurs as well (the only archosaurs that don't have spikes are birds and pterosaurs). turtles also have spikes on their head and neck, but not on their shells.
birds     an interesting thing about the birds is that their first pair of forelimbs are arm while the second pair are wings. all birds still have a singular finger on their wings, which can be used for sparing or climbing. their arm's usages tend to vary from species to species. one of the more common usages is to simply hold onto items, such as food or nesting material. there arms can also serve similar function as their hind limbs, such as swimming or holding onto branches. in some taxons, the birds are quadrupedal, using their arms as a literal second pair of legs. quadrupedal birds dont gallop, but rather pace when they run. some of the major ones include ratites, gamefowl, waterfowl, flamingos, bustards, and cariamiformes. however, smaller taxon can also be quadrupedal.
amphibians     all amphibians have a tail, however small and mostly useless it is. even frogs and toads have them, though they're not very useful once fully grown. apart from that, there's not a whole lot going on with them apart from what you'd expect with the rest of the argonian vertebrates.
fish     if a fish on earth has pectoral and pelvic fins, the argonian version will have double the amount. some fish species, especially sharks, skates and sawfish will have an extra dorsal fin.
    with the big ones out of the way here are some other tidbits about the argonus fauna:
-rarely, argonus will have an earth animal absent from it's planet. this is very rarely, and usually it's only a singular species or subspecies. however, the only taxon bigger than a single species that are missing are the apes (humans, chimps, gibbons, ect). there's definitely other primates, like lemurs and both old world and new world monkeys, but no apes.
-like alot of copy-planet fauna, the animals here have what's known as the "argonus genes", a copy-planet gene that not only gives the lifeforms their unique look but also keeps it relatively consistent. this gene can be combined with any lifeform with earth-origins to create an argonian version of it (called a sub-argonian). removal of the argonus gene will make the lifeforms evolve into any weird/crazy forms, going outside of what made the argonian fauna consistent with what they're copying. many scifi media take inspiration from this, with the common reason for the removed genes being along the lines of radiation.
anyways, yeah this should be my final post about argonus for today on tumblr...
What about Passion with the prompt ❛ it’s okay. you can let go. ❜ ?
Uhhh so guys, warning, there is death in this.
TW: Death, talk about sex, cursing, blah blah blah.
Love wasn't something that the monsters underground knew much about. Why would they? Love failed them.
Love didn't keep the queen's and king's child alive, love didn't keep them together.
Love didn't stop the monsters from starting to kill each other... It didn't save them.
Passion didn't care about that, why would he? He was fine with just fucking people randomly. Why should he care about them? He got magic, and he got to live...
And then when they got above ground with the help of Frisk, he thought it would keep going. There was no way that all humans were as sweet as Frisk, right?
Even after years of being above ground, Passion still didn't believe that he deserved love. He didn't want it... not... not at all. He didn't care about having to have sex with random people, why would he?
He's been doing it his whole life. It was the only thing he knew.
Laying in the beds of random people, waking up either with them or alone... sometimes getting woken up to leave before their partners came home? Ha, it was JUST like the underground.
Love didn't matter to these people.
It was just an excuse to have sex with people randomly, not caring if they wanted to or not.
Maybe that's what he kept telling himself since he didn't want a chance to be hurt by others. He didn't know how to love, he didn't even really know how to like people!
But then he met Y/n... The kindness that they showed him; he thought that they were trying to get him to, you know, do stuff with them! Why else would they be nice? He flirted but they just laughed and said that that isn't what they were looking for exactly.
He took that as a challenge and kept going but slowly the flirting stopped, they were just... friends. They hung out really often. Slowly, Passion stopped going out looking for people to have sex with in bad places and he started to see that there were people in love.
People were happy, they kissed they hugged... Love was something that people had, he had just been ignoring that to not hurt himself. How ironic...
How God damn ironic.
He and Y/n got closer, until they finally ended up getting together! They were the one to confess to him, and at first, he felt panic. Did they really love him? He kept that thought to himself, and agreed.
It had been years over years since that day, and they still loved each other just as much as they did at the beginning. Passion felt so happy whenever they were around each other, and when he woke up with them hugging him? It was the happiest he thought he could be.
He didn't even notice as the years rushed by.
Until finally, it hit him in the face pretty much. He saw his datemate one day, going down the stairs. They were struggling... he went to help them down. Their skin wasn't as soft as it used to be, winkles and marks now covering it. They weren't as loud or fast as they used to be.
Humans aged much faster than monsters, didn't they? He still felt young, he still had 100s of years to go before he died of old age.
How much longer did they have?
He got his answer a few years later, they were in the hospital and their family already came to see them. They had no children; it wasn't that they didn't try! They did! He just... couldn't.
They tried over and over again, and he fucked up. They couldn't get the child.
Slowly he walks into the hospital room. The smell was strange, cleaner and it was too... white. It was kinda scary here, wasn't it? Y/n saw him, and smiled "Hey Passion" they say, holding out their hand. He walks over, taking their hand into his own.
They were so cold...
"Hey," he mumbles, rubbing his thumb over their knuckles. "You're uh... Wow" He didn't know what to say.
They let out a weak laugh, shaking their head and rests their head back against the pillows. There were so many wires connected to them. "Old, I know... look at you, still young and sweet" they said the last part in a teasing tone.
"I don't know about sweet" he starts, with a little laugh, "But yeah... young. Y/n, what's gonna happen?"
They don't answer, they seemed to be thinking their eyes glassy. He squeezes their hand softly which seemed to knock them out of their thoughts and they look over at him. They looked confused for a few seconds, before smiling, "I don't know what's going to happen Passion, all I know is that… we're not going to be able to see each other anymore. Promise me you're going to keep going down the right path, okay? I don't want you to go back to thinking you don't deserve love" they reach up, putting their hand against his cheek, "I've loved you almost my whole life… and I know you deserve even more"
He stared at them with big eyes that quickly filled with reddish colored tears. They slowly ran down his cheeks, dripping down to the floor and he nuzzles his skull into their hand. "I promise" he whimpered. "I love you too, Y/n."
They let out a soft happy sigh, resting their head back against the pillows again, shutting their eyes so he squeezes their hand, "It's okay… you can let go" He leans down, kissing the top of their head then slowly pulls back, and walks out of the hospital room. He needed to go to the bathroom so he could break down without anyone seeing.
Immortal Heart (Atsumu x Reader) Part 4
A few days later, you decided it was time for you to start training Atsumu. Once night fell, you drove to a nearby forest. You found a nice, open clearing and turned to face him.
“Alright, the first thing we’re gonna do is practice running.”
“I have to learn how to run?”
“Mhm. You’re a lot faster now.”
“But I walk just fine, so shouldn’t running be the same?”
“Walking is different. When you walk, you’re trying to go slow. Your brain knows what your body needs to be doing and compensates for the changes to your body. However, when you run, your instinct isn’t to be slow. It’s to be as fast as possible. Unlike when you walk, the speed your brain and muscles are used to is much lower than your current speed.” You explained.
“Okay? That, uh, I guess that makes sense?”
You shook your head and crossed the clearing. “Here, I’ll show you.” You turned back to him and smiled. “Run to me.”
Atsumu dug his toes into the ground and took off. In a single blink, he had not only crossed the clearing, but also slammed headfirst into you. You dropped your hips and braced your feet against the ground.
It was like hitting a wall.
You didn’t move an inch while Atsumu was thrown to such a sudden stop that he stumbled and fell backwards from the impact.
“Now, do you get it? Your fastest speed has essentially tripled, so when you run, your speed quickly gets out of control. Couple that with the fact that you don’t know how to stop at such a fast pace, and it’s a recipe for disaster.” You held out your hand and pulled him up with ease.
Atsumu got to his feet, rubbing his head where he had hit it. “So, what now?”
“Give me your hand.”
Atsumu frowned but did as you asked. Your fingers closed around his own, your palm fitting snugly against his. It felt strange. The last person to hold his hand was his brother back when they were kids.
You tugged gently at his hand. “Follow me.”
Atsumu nodded, confused as to where you were going with this. He fell into step beside you.
After a minute, you glanced at him. “Feel the way I move, and try to follow it. Take your time.”
Atsumu looked over at you, quietly observing you. Your movements were relaxed, but they held a certain air of precision. It wasn’t calculated nor meticulous. It was practiced until it became as normal as breathing. Your steps were light, almost soundless on the forest floor.
Atsumu watched your feet, matching his steps to your own. You sped up slightly, watching his eyebrows furrow as he once again fell into step beside you. You repeated that cycle until the two of you had reached a light jog.
“You play volleyball, right?”
Atsumu stumbled slightly, caught off guard by the sudden question. Once he righted himself, he responded. “Yeah. Have since I was a kid.”
You hummed softly. “You’ll have to fill out a registration with your team now that you’re a vampire.”
“Registration?”
“It’s just a form detailing when you were turned and the new limits of your physique, like your fastest speed, highest jump, strongest hit, stuff like that. Then, they’ll give you a specialized bracelet that will dull your powers to a human level again. As long as you remember to wear it when you play, you’ll be allowed to play with your team just like you did before you were turned.” You explained.
Atsumu let out a sigh of relief. For a moment, he was scared you would tell him he had to quit volleyball. “Where do I get that form?”
“You’ll have to speak to your coach, and he’ll request one for you. The bracelet shouldn’t take more than a week to be delivered once the request is processed. On the form, there’ll also be a section where you can fill out a specific design you want for it.”
“It can be anything I want?”
“Mm, for the most part, yes. The only thing they can’t account for is whatever power you end up with.”
“Power?”
You slowed your pace until the two of you were once again walking side by side. “Every vampire has a power unique to them, but only a select few have ever been able to tap into that level of power.”
“Do you have one? A special power, I mean.”
“Mhm.”
“Really?!” He gasped, excitement written across his face. “What is it?!”
“Space manipulation.”
“Space? Like stars and shit?”
“Not quite.” You snorted. “Space just refers to any plane of existence. For example,” You pointed to a nearby tree, “let’s say I wanted that tree to be shorter. All I have to do is imagine it.”
Atsumu watched in shock as the tree shook and began to shrink.
“And it happens.”
Atsumu glanced between the tree and you incredulously. “And you can do that with everything?!”
“I can’t conjure up things that aren’t already there, but I can morph and change anything that already exists around me.”
Your phone dinged from the pocket of your jacket. You grabbed it and unlocked the screen. It was a message from, Yukitara.
I have the info you asked for. The guy’s name was Fujisaki Shin. The list attached includes everyone he’s been in contact with in the last six months. The ones I highlighted are the ones that he’s spoken to a substantial amount.
You tapped on the attachment, and a document full of names and addresses popped up. You scanned through the list, your eyes stopping on one name that had been highlighted and underlined in red ink.
Okarah Singoku
You stared silently at the name, but no matter how many times you read it, it stayed the same.
“Sorry to cut our training short, but it looks like I have a detour to make.”
“Where are we going?”
“You’re going home. I’m going somewhere.”
“What? Why can’t I go?”
“Because it isn’t a place for a fledgling.”
“But-”
You shot him a sharp look that had any protests dying on the tip of his tongue.
He sighed deeply, knowing arguing would get him nowhere. “Can you at least tell me where you’re going?”
You were silent for a long moment, your mind far away from where you were standing.
“To visit an old friend.”
here is ruthie about to bite the corner of this novel because she’s soooooo bored and I’m not paying enough attention to her lol. we got up early and I spent the morning finishing yellowface so I can discuss it with liz later. I’ll be honest: I hated it!!! I thought it was a sharp, engaging metafictional thriller but I found it to be just as grimdark as the poppy war in its own way and I REALLY did not like being immersed in the narrator’s headspace. I remember when I finished the poppy war it took me a week to shake off the mood it sunk me into & then I just wanted the book out of my house, like I needed to physically shove it away from me so it didn’t poison my living space. I love dark themes but damn I have a hard time stomaching works that don’t permit you even the faintest glimmer of light or humanity. everyone in this book sucks so much! everyone is parasitical, paranoid, greedy, grasping, narcissistic, status-obsessed, and incapable of empathy!! I may be dropping this off in a little free library today so as to get it out of my house lol.
okay. ugh. need to stick my brain under running water or something to wash the bad feelings off. let me try to think about the day…
I’d like to run today… probably at the gym because I feel guilty about how little I’ve used my expensive annual pass
I have to take the dogs on our usual long walk
I might talk to Liz at some point today if she can get away from family trip stuff
I am not feeling much of an urge to work on work stuff at the moment so I’m going to let that be… idk this book depressed me lol it’s hard to get back into excited mode. but maybe reading some of my work books would help me shake it off faster?? IDK UGHHH. or maybe I should start reading another novel just to cleanse my palate lol. I do have some holds at the library I could go pick up hmm
my aunt said she’s free today or tomorrow to talk about fostering/adoption… I might call her tomorrow when I’m feeling less bleh
I could write!
OOOH I could put on music or a podcast and deep clean the house. maybe that’s what I’ll do… it’ll feel better than lying around stewing
A random woman runs to skeleton screaming her waters broke and that the baby is coming. Before skeleton can do anything, she's already pushing the baby out. What would be their reaction?
Undertale Sans - Oh woah. That's too much responsibilities in once! Dude, he doesn't know how to do this! But he doesn't really has a choice anymore, so he helps the woman to lie down on a bench and grabs the baby is his blue now ruined jacket. He didn't even have time to realise what just happened. The baby is crying, just as the human, and omg he is so overwhelmed. He teleports the lady and the baby to the hospital, and kinda follows the doctors around for a while, before he feels too stupid and leaves. What even is he doing? The lady comes to visit him by surprise a few weeks later to thank him. Sans is not sure he really was useful, but that's nice to hear.
Undertale Papyrus - He is screaming internally, trying his best to focus on what the hell is going on. He read some thing about human pregnancy, but he never knew he would have to deliver a baby himself one day, and that's all very different than in the book. You're supposed to be at the hospital, not in the middle of the street, and it supposed to take a few hours not a few seconds. In seconds, the baby is in his hands and he doesn't know what he's supposed to do of it??? He kinda throws them in their mother's arms and, uh, waits for instructions because he can't think straight right now. Please help him. The lady guides him after that. Well, at least he'll have something a story to tell to Undyne.
Underswap Sans - Well he's the police, not rescue services, but he has some knowledge about what to do. He stays professional and leads the mother in his car so she can give birth somewhere warm. He calls an ambulance while helping the lady to breathe in and out. He's quite surprised when the baby literally falls in his arms, but that happens sometimes. He covers the baby in his police jacket, and talks with the lady until the ambulance arrives. This was quite intense, but he's happy. That's not something you see everyday!
Underswap Papyrus - He's freaking out as much as the young mother, not knowing what he's doing of his hands and screaming hysterically as a way to cope with his own feelings. He's screaming so loud than soon, a crowd forms around you two with kind souls to help them. They even congratulated him as the new dad even if he doesn't know who is this woman. Though, now he is ready if his S/O ever deliver their baby in the middle of the street. What a day.
Underfell Sans - He tries to walk faster to ignore the woman, but she grabs his arm and crushes it, so he has no choice. He is not happy or comfortable about this, but he's doing it anyway, because the damn lady just poped the baby in front of him, and he's maybe grumpy, but not heartless. However, as soon as other people come to help, he's leaving. He doesn't like when there's too many people around.
Underfell Papyrus - This is the moment he waited for! A lady in distress, and him as the knight in shining armour that can save the day. Welp, until he realises a baby isn't delivered by miracle and that he has to touch the stuff... And passes out because this is too overwhelming for him and omg it's so stressful? What if the baby dies? What if something goes wrong? What if it's because something he did wrong and then he goes in prison? He's helping this time because he can't really stop now that the baby is in his hands, but he promises himself this is the last time he's doing this. Who knew saving the world could be that scary?
Horrortale Sans - He is not helping. Oak is confused because of all the hormones. He's rubbing his head uncontrolably against your stomach and he can't do anything to not do it. The lady is terrified and confused, the baby is coming out, and Oak can't listen a word she's saying. This is so chaotic until some other people step in to save the day and gently push Oak away.
Horrortale Papyrus - He was really eager to help and he feels like it's an honour to witness the birth of a new soul. However, he didn't expect things to get that bloody. And... Uh... Willow can't stand blood. At all. He's trying his best to stay focus but he wants to faint so badly. He is kind enough to faint only once the baby is born and in their mother's arms. He needs a moment. Even lying on the ground, he's congratulating the new mom for being so brave however.
Swapfell Sans - OH NO. He's not doing that. He's calling an ambulance and he's holding the baby in place inside of the belly with blue magic until it comes. There's no way he's touching the stuff. He did his part, good luck with that, he's out.
Swapfell Papyrus - At first he thinks it's some prank some kids are playing on him. But then the lady really delivers a baby. Oh. So this is not a joke. Oh. Oh no. Rus is freaking out. He calls the hospital and will scream on the receptionnist until the rescue comes. He's also not touching the baby. He kinda just grabs them and throws them on their mom when she fully pops them out. He's not ready for this omg why these sorts of things always have to fall on him like this? He just wanted a normal day!
Fellswap Gold Sans - He used to help monsters give birth Underground and thought he was ready. But then the woman pops out the baby from her body and he is so confused??? In the Underground, babies just kinda pops out of fine air with a lot of magic. This is so much more gross. He hates every second of it. And looks at that thing. It looks like a small human sharpei mix. This is ugly. Ew. He never wants a human baby. Why are humans so weird and gross?
Fellswap Gold Papyrus - This is way too much for him. When you pops out the baby, he laughs a second... then faints on the ground. The mother just has the time to grab the baby before. Coffee won't wake up before the ambulance comes, and he's in shock. But at least, eh, the baby is fine!
