(Carmilla Weekly, chapter 2, Sept. 11th)

Spoilery comments under the cut:

We never hear of Bertha becoming a vampire and I assume the General &co. must have killed her? Possibly even before she had time to rise from the grave? I don't know.

Imagine if she hadn't, though. Would Carmilla even have pursued Laura romantically if she had a vampire Bertha as her companion? Or is it her modus operandi to always move on to another human girl anyway? Impossible to know, I suppose.

Another thing that's somewhat spoilery I guess (in that it’s spoilers that this is their only appearance) is the mystery of the "mother" and all the men with her and Carmilla. Who are they? We never hear anything about Carmilla's mother becoming a vampire, do we? Or did she turn her mother? Is the "mother" the vampire who killed her? Is she an entirely unrelated vampire who adopted her? Is she just an accomplice? Does she even exist or is she an illusion? (Okay probably not, she's way too full of personality not to be a character IMO.)

We never hear from any of them ever again and their purpose seems to simply be to give Carmilla an excuse to stay at the castle.
