book 5 part 6 thoughts!!

Ew, we're starting off with another map segment... TWST REALLY WANTS TO TIMEGATE OUR TEARS, HUH

Yuu and gang are going to follow the night fae soldiers to Black Scale Castle beyond the mountains. They can't stay too far from the owner of the dream, Lilia! (If you'll remember, they're now taking Tamago-sama there for safety while Meleanor stays behind to fight the Silver Owls.)

Silver hasn't seen Sebek use his UM??? Sebek tells us he learned his UM when Silver got into NRC and Sebek was training by himself. He wanted to be able to rush to Malleus's side at a moment's notice. He knows it is able to turn his own body into lightning and then can use it to move and to attack. However, the spell will damage his body while using it since he has yet to reach mastery. Sebek can't use his magic to rush to Lilia and the others because he wouldn't be able to fight by the time he does.

... ISN'T HIS UM SIMILAR TO ROLLO'S.... JUST TRADE FIRE FOR LIGHTNING...

AW, SEBEK WASN'T PLANNING ON USING HIS SPELL UNTIL HE MASTERED IT... BUT HE STILL USED IT TO SAVE SILVER 😭

Oh, they finally asked the question we were all having. If Malleus made this dream with the intention of it being a happy ending, then why do only sad things happen in Lilia's dream??? Also, why did OB Malleus not come after them yet or kick them out of the dream??? Maybe there's a reason why Malleus can't supervise or enter Lilia's dream??

BAUL LEFT THEM MAGIC TO GUIDE THEM THE RIGHT WAY... HE TRUSTS US TO HELP THEM NOW

Not both grandpa and grandson volunteering to stay behind to fight and then catch up later... Sebek tells Silver to go ahead and protect Lilia, "You go and protect what is most precious to you. I'm going to protect what is precious to me," (Sebek about Baul) 😭 The night fae are so confused why a human would willingly help them... THI S IS SEBEK'S CHARACTER ARC

SEBEK PROVES HIMSELF A CAPABLE FIGHTER TO HIS GRANDPA!! His hair gets all messy like what's shown in his new SSR. It's raining as well (like in the card art), so this is likely the context for the illustration. The groovy artwork is of Sebek being knighted!!!

Zigvolt family lore!! Baul doesn't get along with his human son-in-law, but never distanced himself from his grandchildren. When Baul's only daughter wanted to marry a human, they argued so much about it. To this day, he still doesn't particularly care for humans. Even so, Baul's house has a lot of storybooks and candy prepared for his mixed grandchildren. He won't open them warmly, but it's clear he loves his family.

Silver saves Lilia!! And then Lilia asks Silver to take the egg to Black Scale Castle in his place. There are too many human soldiers on their trail, and Lilia cannot fight them while holding the egg (plus he's already injured from previously protecting Silver at the easternmost fortress).

Yuu has to hold Tamago-sama...

Silver proceeds to carry Lilia like a baby in spite of Lilia saying he'd stay behind and distract the Silver Owls 🤡 NOT SILVER USING LILIA'S OWN TEACHINGS TO TELL DREAM!LILIA THEY STILL HAVE TO TRY AND SURVIVE

The mountains are called the "Forbidden Mountains" and it is said that this is where Maleficent once lived. If you are not blessed by the dragons, the lightning (according to legend) will strike you down. Beyond the mountain is Briar Country's capital city and Black Scale Castle.

Surprisingly, Silver suggests an ambush method (hide and strike at soldiers from behind when they've let their guard down). I guess NRC really did teach him how to be backhanded after all/j

Silver says maybe Malleus can't follow them since he wasn't born yet in Lilia's dream. Magic relies on imagination, and since Malleus cannot imagine what life was like before he was born... that's probably why he can't monitor these circumstances.

Would you look at that 💀 The first real time the story acknowledges that Yuu is in bodily danger; Silver Owls shoot arrows at Yuu because they're holding the egg. Grimmu protects us!! Baby... Best buddy...

SEBEK ARRIVING TO SAVE SILVER (aksldnbaksdbaydasl lol at Sebek being smug about his knighting and trying to act cool even though the lightning is definitely still hurting him...)

Silver Owls retreat!

Oh wow, so they see creeping black thorns similar to when Malleus OB'd; everyone suspects that maybe Meleanor Overblotted too.

Silver mentions that he lives near the Forbidden Mountains but has never climbed them before. The rocks there are very sharp and dangerously jut out. AW, Lilia gives Silver and Yuu his cloak to protect them from the rain and cold. Lilia says the mountain range is full of magic, so its restorative to fae, who draw power from nature.

The way they came from was sealed off by rocks... but Lilia fully intends to go back and help Meleanor...

THEY MADE IT TO THE CASTLE!! It's called Maleficia's castle; we have an official English spelling for Granny Draconia's name. Something, something, Lilia wants to prepare something called the "Cradle Tower".

WE CUT BACK TO WILD ROSE CASTLE

Like father, like son... The Dawn Knight seems remorseful and wonders where they went wrong, if everyone could have been friends if they had chosen some other way. He wants to dream of a world where all races can live together in peace. "One day, it won't be just a dream, it will be reality." It's phrased very similarly to the wish Lilia made in Wish Upon a Star!

The stormy weather clears up and the dawn makes way... IT'S A SIGN THAT THE DAWN KNIGHT PREVAILED AND MELEANOA'S MAGIC HAS DISAPPEARED... Lilia just lets out the most guttural cries... He says if he were stronger, he would have taken Meleanoa with him against her will, HE WASN'T ABLE TO KEEP HIS PROMISE TO PROTECT MELEANOR FOR HIM

I still want to see Mallemom's on-screen death though.

Side note: they force us to play through a scripted loss battle between the Dawn Knight and Meleanor 💀 Sick fucks on the dev team…

Uhhh okay so there are greenish spirits floating around; they're the senate??? Apparently they've already died but their spirits linger and serve as advisors.

… Idk why doesn’t Mallemom do this too???

NAUR, NOT THE SENATE BLAMING AND SHAMING LILIA, SAYING HE RAN AWAY AND LEFT HER TO DIE IN BATTLE... THEY CALL LILIA A MUTT AND BAT, JUST A DIRTY ORPHAN WHO CAN’T BE TRUSTED… AND THAT HE ISN'T FIT TO SERVE, THAT HE'S USELESS (this must really sting seeing as Lilia has insecurities about not being wanted 😭)

Baul defends Lilia's honor but Lilia still resigns from the Imperial Guard. HE'S TELLING THE SENATE T HEY CAN PUNISH HIM SO THEY FORBID HIM FROM STEPPING INTO THE CAPITAL AGAIN

The senate uses magic to take the egg away from Lilia AND LILIA SAYS GOODBYE TO MALLEUS BY NAME

"I'm not an Imperial Guard anymore, I don't need to follow orders" — Lilia (when Baul tells Lilia he still has a duty to hatch the egg). LILIA HAS GIVEN UP and that seems to have summoned the darkness of the dream to them. Lilia thinks Meleanor and/or Levan are in the darkness so he wants to "go there too".

When a general retires, they are gifted a lavish home near Black Scale Castle. Sebek says it now makes sense why Lilia lived humbly in a forest cottage far away from the capital. Silver says it must be why Lilia dislikes the atmosphere of the capital and why he never took Silver there.

In a flashforward, Lilia is asked to come back 10 years later. At this point, Tamago-sama has developed more sentience and is actively rejecting the love magic from everyone, even his grandmother. He has only been receiving magic for the first 5ish years or so. Maleficia had Baul act as a messenger to bring Lilia back for a special mission BECAUSE OTHERWISE MALLEUS WILL DIE WITHOUT IT.

Malleus’s egg is being kept in Cradle Tower! It keeps the egg safe and essential incubates it for the royal family.

Land of Briar becomes Briar Valley? The queen cannot always be with the egg because Briar Valley and its surrounding are lands are left in chaos after the war. Briar Valley fae specifically are not allowed in human territories.

Lilia is sent off on to find a way to fix the situation. He says he will see where dragons live in other continents and research. Omg, this must be how he started his travels and learned more about other races and their cultures 😭

“Don’t you dare die, Malleus” — Lilia (AND THE LOVING DEATH THREAT ACTUALLY MAKES THE EGG GLOW)

We see some of Lilia’s travels AND HE WAS IN THE CITY OF FLOWERS ON TOPSY TURVY DAY... The people there were friendly at first and worrying for his health until they realize he's a fairy, then they chase him out.

During one of his routine reports, Lilia is convinced by Baul to speak with Malleus's egg (which now glows green sometimes). Lilia shares stories of his travels with Malleus, trying to keep it positive for the baby to not make Malleus sad.

NEXT LILIA TRAVELED TO THE SCALDING SANDS, A MERCHANT IS ASKING IF HE WANTS TO BUY A MAGIC LAMP... Lilia learns about the importance of souvenirs as keepsakes from that merchant.

Okay, so it looks like between travels we're getting scenes of Lilia reporting back and telling Malleus about the place he most recently visited. He says that the Scalding Sands used to be such a small civilization but has since grown into a sprawling city. It's amazing what kind of progress humans can make.

Malleus is fussy and some days accepts magic, and other days he doesn't. Meleanor was also a really picky eater. Levan carries himself like an honors student but was the type to hide his veggies.

AW, HE SINGS MELEANOR'S LULLABY TO MALLEUS

Next Lilia visits some ruins...? It looks like a background from the Spectral Realm seen in Endless Halloween Night. Lilia says no one lives here, there is only furniture. No ghosts are mentioned though! He uses his UM for the first time here. Far Cry Cradle is probably going to be very useful for investigating ways to hatch a dragon's egg!

Lilia tells Malleus to come out of the egg, it must be boring just sleeping. He offers to read stories and change his diaper, tells Malleus his dad wants to meet him. Oh, and of course Lilia shares about his UM too! He tells Malleus that he went to the Land of Crimson Long.

Lilia ventures to Harveston!! An old man mistakes Lilia for a kid and takes him in, showing him warmth and kindness. He says he'll leave soon, but the old man and an old woman say he should stay until spring because the weather is harsh.

The lady notices Lilia is fae (but since time has passed, relations between fae and humans have improved a bit). No one is afraid of him here!! They apologize for mistaking him as a kid and want to share stories.

(Not confirmed but it could be interesting if these were Epel’s ancestors Lilia met… Rollo’s ancestors can be the ones running Lilia out of the City of Flowers www)

ABSHDBYOAFVYFAIAEUQRQEOUBFQ LILIA IS 430 AT THIS POINT BUT THAT NUMBER IS SO CLOSE TO 420 IT MAKES ME LAUGH

His feelings are changing... At 450 years old, Lilia tells Malleus that the world has changed so much and he has had the chance to visit many places. ahbyoaybadadB APPARENTLY PEOPLE USED TO THROW STONES AND ROCKS AT HIM.

Lilia says that fae may become things of the past, just creatures of fairy tales. But he doesn't want Malleus to be the main character of a fairy tale, forgotten by time. He wants Malleus to be able to see the world his parents weren’t able to see for themselves 😔

Another time skip, and it's come to a point where the egg is in critical condition. For 3 whole months it has been rejecting Maleficia's magic. The egg has since erected a lightning barrier to protect itself, even though its own heartbeat is growing weaker and weaker. (Malleus throwing another tantrum lol)

Lilia heard weird sounds but no one else could??? Is that a baby crying???? He tries to approach, but almost gets struck down many times.

Lilia realizes Malleus is crying because he's lonely. "Wait for me. I'm coming to you right now!" He gets hit by lightning, but perserves!

Lilia says he will offer his magic, even his lifespan (many fan theorists squealed now that this is confirmed), to Malleus if he needs it, and finally embraces the egg. (Physical contact like holding the egg is said to encourage magic absorption.)

TAMAGO-SAMA??????? 😭 HE SOUNDS LIKE A POKEMON… and he’s already blowing fire even though he’s freshly hatched???

WTF THOUGH BABY MALLEUS IS 1000000000000000000000x CUTER THAN GROWN UP MALLEUS 🫶 (I don’t like modern day Malleus’s looks at all www)

Silver understands why the dream is how it is, because it was all worth it for Lilia to finally meet Malleus. The moment of hatching has to be the happiest moment in Lilia’s life.

The senate shows up and starts praising Lilia as a hero.

OH????? Lilia seems to be waking????

HMMMM? this implies there’s limited suspension of disbelief each dreamer has 🤔 and if pushes past that threshold, then the dreamer is in a confused half awake state. Idia had these little moments of questioning his dream’s reality as well.

The senate’s voices distort, and they start shouting at Lilia for touching the prince, how it will be a scandal if a bat (… is Lilia a bat fae???) “dirties” the Draconias, etc. Mmmm, maybe this is the real reaction and the praising was part of the dream?? Since Lilia seemed to react strangely to being extolled. (I’m still over here wondering why their opinions hold so much weight compared to the queen; surely she would invite her friend Lilia back?? And doesn’t seem to blame him for the death of her daughter?)

Levan has a voice similar to Malleus, but lacks horns.

Okay 😭 Lilia did in fact use his own life span so Malleus could hatch, and then Lilia had Maleficia swear to secrecy because he was concerned Malleus would blame himself. But it also feels like the senate purged or edited the records to hide the fact that Malleus hatched with Lilia’s love??

Malleus tries to convince Lilia to go back to sleep, to not feel pain. He says he can give Lilia a dream where the Draconias are still alive, a dream where Lilia can live peacefully, just take Malleus’s hand—

SILVER COMING IN CLUTCH, he and Sebek vow to break Malleus’s “blessing”. It’s this word that allows Lilia to fully awaken!!! ⏰ He’s so proud of Silver and Sebek…

They fight (well, Lilia distracts Malleus), then Silver uses his UM to hop into another dream.

They run into Ortho?! And then everyone is dropped off in front of Ignihyde.

FINALLY, SHROUD BROTHERS RETURN RIGHT AT THE VERY END!! I was wondering what they were doing while all this shit went down in Lilia's dream... It sounds like the next book 7 update will start off with Idia and Ortho, most likely told via flashback. I assume Ortho was able to help Idia wake up somehow?

This update felt like we got a lot of new lore!! But many of the events that played out were things we already had an inkling about prior to all of this (Meleanor dying, Lilia going on his travels eventually, Lilia helping Malleus hatch, etc.). It's nice to get the confirmation and to have the gaps of time inbetween filled in.

I really appreciate the story showing us just how hard Lilia's life was and then showing us just how important a nugget of happiness after all of that was so worth it for that moment. His VA did a stellar job with the voice acting this update, particularly the sobbing once Malleus hatched. I loved seeing Lilia's travels and how they gradually affected his own mindset over time... how he learned many different things from the people he encountered, and how he passed on that knowledge onto Malleus.

I liked seeing the origins of Lilia’s UM (he’s on a journey to find an answer)! Hearing about Sebek’s was also interesting; seeing as he’s a late bloomer with his magic and how he’s always competing with Silver, his UM manifested when Silver had been admitted to NRC and Sebek was training alone. I wonder if the UM also (in part) rose out of a feeling of inadequacy or feeling like he has to “catch up” to where Silver, Malleus, and Lilia are. No matter how hard it may be, he wants to push past his limits and serve as a knight. Maybe that, too, is why his UM prioritizes power and speed at his own body’s expense. It’s great seeing Sebek open up a little more and insist on fighting alongside fae; in modern day, Sebek has had to fight alongside humans. This is bridging the two sides of himself and helping him to reconcile with his own prejudices 😭

THE WHOLE DRAMA WITH THE SENATE MAKES ME UNDERSTAND WHY LILIA DROPPED THAT LINE ABOUT HISTORY BEING ALTERED OR REWRITTEN. It all makes so much sense now... Lilia himself (at least him hatching Malleus) was written out of history even though he did so much to help his country. He was so disliked, shunned, and shown animosity from the powers that be, and now he doesn't wish for that to happen to others, especially not to Malleus, the one good thing in his life and all that remained of the friends he lost along the way. You really see his teachings coming through in Silver and Sebek when they face off against OB Malleus towards the end. And the way I screeched when Lilia finally woke up after that...

The more I see OB Malleus, the more I get this skin-crawling feeling around him. I know the other OB boys have done arguably worse things (attempted murder, for example) but there's something so awful and insidious about the way Malleus speaks. He's intentionally gaslighting and manipulating others to just give in to his control, taking advantage of even Lilia at his lowest moments to dominate his thoughts. That's scary to think about... especially the dark inversion of Malleus urging Lilia to take his hand, when the game started off with a much more light-hearted and inviting "take my hand" offer.

Anyway!! I've been wondering for a long time what the Shrouds have been up to, and I'm so excited to see their story next update!!

Hades and Maleficent Child!Yuu At NRC (first year)

!English is not my first language, so sorry for my bad english!

Male!Yuu

The first time Yuu arrived at the NRC, it didn't bother him.

He knew he was going to have to go, but he didn't expect to leave the underground so soon ! He didn't even have time to say goodbye to his family ! Aurora must be so worried at this time, and Maleficent must be angry and worried and Hades must have probably tried to explain everything to both of them... Yuu will have to give Hades a big hug when he sees him again for the reward of taking care of a Maleficent and Aurora worried.

The Black Mirror was a surprised for him.

Why the Mirror of the Queen is here ? And why it say that Yuu have no power ?? And why it say that his home is not in this world ???

The Mirror have forget his dragon form, or..?

The third question was the quickest to answer. The underground was technically a separate world that was connected to Twisted Wonderland, where only the dead (+gods and the Faery family) can go.

The second question, well the answer is simple, the Mirror love, like, LOVE the chaos.

Only a few know it, but the Mirror is a chaotic thing. It was create for the chao and only the chao.

And what's better for create the chaos than the son of two old friends ? Especially when the son is a good actor ?

And the first had no answer for now, Yuu will have to ask to the Queen for the answer.

Well, that doesn't matter for now.

Yuu have to play the without magic student.

▪︎Yuu was often looked down upon at the NRC for being "magicless", but that was nothing he couldn't change with a good kick in the ass.

▪︎What ? It's not because he can't use magic that he can't fight people. And win.

▪︎Yuu had become very close to some people in his class, like Kalim, aka the Secret Love Child of the Sun, Silver, aka Aurora 2.0, Jamil, aka "You are not my friend, stop FOLLOWING ME", and Ruggie, aka the only poor person in all the NRC.

▪︎He is also closed of a robot named Ortho, the brother of the robot that is not a robot, Idia, an old general fae named Lilia, and Malleus.

▪︎Well, Malleus wasn't really his friend, he was a member of his family. But Malleus don't know they are technically cousins, so Yuu will act like if they were friends and not family.

▪︎Yuu is now the prefect of Ramshakle, or, by it's real name, Oboro-bog. The dorm of Chernabog.

▪︎Funfact : Yuu tried to bring Chernabog back to the NRC to make him stand next to the other NRC statues. He wanted to see how people would react to this, but unfortunately Chernabog refused.

▪︎His first year was calm, no problem, maybe he had some ennemies (*cough* Riddle, Azul, Vil *cough*)

▪︎Oh, and he was a lot observed. Most of the time it was Rook and the Leech Brothers.

▪︎And when he come back in the Underground, he was greeted with a big hug from the whole family. He had missed it.

Just did a practise picture and drabble with my last idea with malleus and little Silver, since I wanted to try my hand at some fluff and comedy.

Humans are so fragile, Malleus thinks brushing a knuckle over the soft cheek of Lilia’s slumbering child. It had only been a mere eight years since his guardian had introduced Malleus to the sweet little bundle nestled in his arms, and to the old general’s delight, the prince was enraptured at first sight, feeling those tiny fingers, delicate as they were, gripping his own one with such considerable strength. Malleus had decided then and there that with Lilia’s permission he would also take part in caring for this adorable creature. Which brings them to now as little Silver slept, curling into the thickest blanket Malleus could find. It was the middle of winter and Lilia had to go run some errands so Malleus was left to babysit the little human. He frowned as he felt Silver’s cheek and forehead, the child was far too cold for his liking! So with the elegant grace of someone who had to endure torturous hours of royal etiquette lessons, Malleus swept up the child onto his lap in a firm hold, thankfully Silver didn’t stir and instead snuggled closer to the prince’s chest.

This is still too cold for human children! It would be terrible if Silver caught a cold, Malleus had read all about the dangers of human illnesses, first it could be just a slight fever and runny nose then all of a sudden it could turn into something called pneumonia! The books said that it's fatal to humans and if the adults die from it, of course their offspring will have higher chances!

Subconsciously Malleus’s arms tightened around the child oblivious to his spiralling thoughts. No, he thinks, no way was this child falling sick on his watch, but instead of lighting the fireplace like any rational person the prince picked up Silver once more in his arms and disappeared in a display of little green lights.

‘Malleus Draconia!’ Lilia stormed into the prince’s chambers with a flurry of rage and exasperation. When the castle guards and servants caught sight of the angry general they knew better than to block his path, some of the older guards winced in sympathy for the young prince. They recalled the past incidents when the princess and her husband recently had their egg, and knew very well what was about to happen.

Right now Lilia is hushed by the giant dragon who points down to the little human child nestled into his scaly arm, Silver stirs slightly then settles and nuzzles closer to the warmth, the dragon rumbles and snuffles the child until satisfied that he is settled.

The older fae glared up at the dragon with all the confidence of someone who had seen centuries worth of horrors and the irritation of a parent, ‘Malleus, why did you nab my child. Again?’ the dragon hissed angrily, arching his neck back like a broody chicken. This was not the first time Lilia has had to deal with something like this, sometimes he almost regrets presenting his son to Malleus as the prince has immediately taken to stealing the child whenever it was slightly colder than usual, and it takes Lilia forever to get him back so he could have dinner, not to mention he almost never leaves unscathed.

He’s just like his father. He begrudgingly recalls. Back when his friends were alive, Lilia would sometimes be sent to retrieve something from the egg’s nursery and it was an absolute nightmare whenever it was Leven’s “turn” to have the egg. It would be just like now, the big oaf would be in his dragon form, curling around the egg and snapping at anyone who dared go near, really Lilia and Mallenoa would always compare him to a brooding chicken, the princess; with affection, Lilia; seven’s damn it, just let him do his job!

Thankfully this just means he knew just the thing for a situation like this.

‘Malleus give me back Silver, oooorrrr I get the broom’ he says moving closer. The prince hissed again and puffed smoke from his nostrils, his three pointed tail suddenly sweeps up and batted at Lilia until he backed away ‘alright that was just plain rude’ with a flick of his fingers a broom flew into his hand, the dragon snaps at him and he smacks the narrow snout with the end of it ‘I did say I’d get the broom out didn’t I?’ the dragon hisses once again.

Lilia sighed, so this was going to be one of those days wasn’t it.

After a few hours of scrappy cat fights, and a certain dragon getting a broom shoved up his nose, a roughed up Lilia had his son burying his sleepy face in his face and a dejected prince following behind, occasionally blowing his nose.

Well, this is just ~delightful~

Maleficent is known for inciting fear whereever she goes, but she much prefers the stunned silence variety vs the blubbering messes, unless she's in a particularly foul mood.

It's...rare that she encounters someone silent, but not entirely out of fear, if that blush is anything to go by...

How cute. A new little thing to play with.

She makes a note of where you will be in order to turn up unexpectedly on multiple occasions. She will never approach you first, but you'll always feel her eyes on you until she 'coincidentally' comes close enough to warrant an interaction.

If you cannot meet her eyes after you curtsey, she will extend one elegant hand under your chin and tilt your head back to make you do so. She loves the contrast of her green skin against yours, and the fact you blush even harder only adds to her enjoyment of it.

On the occasions that you catch sight of her and she hasn't seen you yet, and you attempt to slip away before she notices, somehow Diablo will always find you in the crowd and circle your head smugly, calling for his mistress no matter how frustratedly you hiss at him to stop or go away.

"Now now my pet, no need for such a ruckus~". You can't tell if she's speaking to you or the bird and it doesn't matter becuase she's right behind you again gods damnit.

If she finds you alone outside instead of at a formal gathering, things are a little different.

Maleficent's confidence is unshakable, but where she keeps a slightly tighter reign on herself in front of a crowd, here she can loom, beautiful and terrible as the wilds that surround you both, perfectly in her element.

It only emphasises the feeling of being a bug under a magnifying glass for you, and oh how she loves to watch you squirm.

Once you are a couple however, that love of your shyness becomes something akin to a proctective streak as sharp as broken glass in an ice bucket.

VERY much 'she asked for no pickles' energy but taken to 11.

Now you're shy not because she's looking at you, but becuase everyone else is looking at you with her, and you don't want to ruin her image but the you can feel yourself getting hot and crowd is starting to look hostile and-

i know you're probably not into maleficent/aurora anymore, but since you were like THE malora writer, i'm curious in what do you think would happen to maleficent when aurora dies? either from natural causes like old age or somethiing terrible happened

My friend, this is so kind of you to say!! This is also, unfortunately, MY JAM LOL

So in my personal interpretation, I think once Aurora became more sure of herself and the relationship, she would learn (passively, not even really thinking of it as such) to de-fuse Maleficent a lot of the time. Maleficent is naturally temperamental and always about 3 bad steps away from starting a fight. Once Aurora learns that this is just sort of how she is and she isn't actually mad, and doesn't even usually mean anything by it, Aurora learns to just kind of skillfully sidestep like 99% of Maleficent's bad moods. As a result, because she isn't being fought at every turn, Maleficent (also without realizing it) calms down a LOT, and tends to stop seeing everything as a challenge or threat, even from ppl who are not Aurora. This mostly just freaks ppl out, because you know she always seems super calm until she is suddenly Not LOL, and the average person does not know how to tell Maleficent's "actually calm" from her "quietly seething."

Additionally, while I believe that Maleficent operates on her own code of ethics and doesn't just do whatever, I also think her ethics and what she considers "wrong" differ significantly from where the average human would draw the line. As she grows more comfortable in her relationship with Aurora, I think she would be surprisingly willing to draw lines where Aurora wants her to, at least most of the time, because in her mind, e.g. not harassing someone who mildly annoyed her is important to Aurora, while it's not that important to Maleficent.

However, I think both of these changes, no matter how long Aurora lives, are utterly temporary. Once Aurora is gone, Maleficent will go back to the way she was before, if not ultimately worse, because in a sense kindness will remind her of Aurora, and I don't think she will ever reach a place where that is a good thing for her.

I think Maleficent's first reaction would be a kind of desperate fury, sort of like a wounded wild animal but with very powerful magic. She would be absolutely terrorizing the countryside, especially anyone she perceived to be responsible. It's almost worse if Aurora dies of old age, because then the fault in her mind would lie with...everything, the nature of life itself. This phase could last forever, depending on other factors, and I think it would be a very long time before Maleficent is even slightly functional again.

Even in eg. Prisoner-verse where Maleficent has other friends, I can see her getting into terrible fights with almost all of them. Girl can be next-level vicious when she wants to be, and even if her friends have known grief, most of them don't know exactly what she's going through, and therefore from Maleficent's perspective are not in a position to comment. Also I think "Aurora wouldn't want you to live like this" or similar would be like, the worst possible thing you could say to her, and might send her spiraling into a murderous rage all over again, because how DARE you presume to tell her what Aurora would want?

I am really a sucker for these kinds of villain backstories LOL, you can play me the same tune over and over and I will never get tired of it. I think the only kind of person who could reach Maleficent would be someone who's sort of similar to Aurora, at least in unfailing kindness. I'm imagining someone just trying to save her village or w/e from being razed to the ground showing sympathy to Maleficent for her lost love, and Maleficent showing just the smallest amount of mercy in memory of Aurora, even if ultimately she hasn't changed or healed at all. (oh my godddddd don't look at me I want to write this now lol)

So anyway, it was 5:30 in the morning, a very normal time to be awake, and I was thinking, well, would anyone in Prisoner-verse be able to calm her down at all? I think she and Kinsale would absolutely get into a really bad fight, and Zenovia would try to be chill about it but she would also pretty quickly be like okay well talk to me when you've calmed down lol. And then I realized............

“Hey.”

Maleficent doesn’t move. She doesn’t know how long she’s been sitting here. Odd, that she doesn’t feel a fresh wave of fury at Joy’s presence. Then again, perhaps she is simply too tired to feel much of anything.

“I’m not going to say anything.” Joy holds out her hands in a show of defense.

Maleficent inhales, sighs. Her throat is burning. She only distantly remembers the sound of screaming, and realizes now that the memory was of her own voice.

“Good,” says Maleficent. Joy of all people should know that there is nothing to say.

A long silence follows. Joy joins her on the floor some distance away, and pretends to train her gaze upon the fire.

“I do have one question, actually,” says Maleficent.

“Hm?”

Maleficent closes her eyes. She tries to imagine Joy the way she looked in pictures, with long, beautiful hair that she wore in intricate curls, and a radiant smile full of youthful mischief. “How did you…not…”

But words fail her. She holds out her hand, grasping at nothing.

“What,” says Joy, “burn down the world?”

Maleficent sighs again. It is as apt a question as any.

“Well, it was perhaps to my benefit that I am not nearly so powerful as you, Mistress Maleficent,” says Joy, although her characteristic attempt at wryness comes out remarkably strained. “I wouldn’t have gotten very far.”

Maleficent opens her eyes. The flames of the fire flicker and dance, enticing in their destruction. “I’m not sure I would have cared.”

Joy chuckles, dry and mirthless. “Yes, well,” she says. She does not continue.

Outside, a terrible wind howls, desperate and mournful. The windows rattle and the fire flickers low, casting them both in dramatic shadow.

Maleficent inhales. She closes her eyes again. “Does it ever…?”

The words catch in her throat. She already knows the answer.

“No,” says Joy quietly. A long silence follows. The embers from the fire crackle meekly, and the mournful wind falls deadly silent.

“But…I don’t know. You find…other reasons. To, you know…” She waves her hand vaguely at the fire, and stokes it back to life.

Maleficent shakes her head. Reasons? The word feels foreign, meaningless. “I don’t know that I ever had a reason for anything, before…”

Before her, she means to say, but she cannot. There was always a before her, yes, but now there is an after her. Everything from now on is after her, without her, and the mere idea of it is something akin to drowning, or perhaps slowly suffocating, deep underground, with the weight of the earth sinking down upon her chest. What did she do before? How did she live? However is she to live now, knowing what she has lost?

“Yeah,” says Joy simply.

Maleficent doesn’t know how long they sit together in silence after that. It hardly matters.

Caregiver Maleficent Headcanons (Sleeping Beauty)

I’m basically ignoring the live action film; we’re getting full Mistress of All Evil, folks! XD

As the absolute queen of dramatic entrances and exits, she’s happy to teach you the best ways to command attention.

Make sure you invite her to all your tea parties; she doesn’t take being snubbed too well.

On that note, she reminds you constantly that you must “suffer no insults”; if someone’s being a jerk, make them regret ever messing with you.

She’s not always an affectionate person, but she likes to touch your hair and call you “my pet”.

While she’s working she’ll let you curl up in her cloak and doze. It’s really comfy!

Diablo is a little jealous of you at first; he’s used to being Maleficent’s favorite. But after a little time (and some treats) you’ll win him over.

The Goons adjust to your presence much more quickly, and they totally spoil you.

Maleficent mainly uses her magic for negative purposes, but she’s willing to make exceptions for you. She has all the abilities of the good fairies, plus a few tricks they don’t possess.

(For example, she can transform you into a child whenever you ask her.)

She often conjures up interesting things for you to look at when you’re getting ready to sleep - it’s like a magical mobile!

book 7 part 7 thoughts!

***THIS POST CONTAINS MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR BOOK 7, PART 7 OF THE MAIN STORY!!***

There are only 16 new chapters total in this update; with this, we are up to chapter 116 in book 7.

You should check out this livestream if you want a more part-by-part summarized translation of what's going on and/or if you want to hear the voices and watch the characters along with the commentary!

As expected, we start off where we left off last update; Yuu, Grim, Silver, and Sebek have met up with the Shroud brothers. (Lilia is not with them.) According to Idia, they are still in a dream realm since Sebek is still in armor which he cannot bring back into reality. Ortho is present via a projection of some sort.

It's weird seeing Idia, Sebek, and Silver introducing themselves to one another in the main story and acting as though they've NEVER met before; they were all featured in Glorious Masquerade and interacted quite frequently. I'm aware that the main story and events don't share the same timeline, but it's still quite the jarring knowledge gap to witness.

ADFIHBADIYFBIOAFBEWQVUQOCAB SILVER AND SEBEK SUDDENLY CLOSE IN ON IDIA TO PROTECT HIM FROM SOMETHING THEY SENSE, HE CAN'T BREATHE... Waaaah, Idia... You're a princess squished between two pretty boy knights wwww

Idia and Ortho tell us that Malleus is expending a lot of energy to monitor Lilia in particular...? Ortho then goes on to explain that his "individuality" has become useful. Even though he cannot have a UM (okay, so confirmed that Ace is the last one to gain it shjdbahsdbasda), he is the only one capable of transferring his consciousness from one body to another. This is how he was able to reach out to Idia and the others!

Ortho tells them about his Cerberus Gear. We get a flashback of what he was up after getting suited up; he's flying over Sage's Island to collect information on Malleus's UM for STYX.

Thorns pierce through the clouds and Ortho battles them! STYX sends reinforcements (not personnel, but like technology/cannons?) to help Ortho. The thorns form a short of shield over Sage's Island, so he breaks through via a weak point. asdbhbaisdbals It's so unsettling to see the port looking so dark and depressing...

Ortho's mom reminds him he can only stay in there safely for 20 minutes. Aw, she cares so much about Or-kun 😭

It's going to take over several minutes (I think 17) just to analyze the complex nature of Malleus's magic and save it. While the analysis anchor does its job, Ortho has to protect it!

OH SHIT IT'S OB MALLEUS

ebfyvoFoaHhahaahahaHHhahaahah ORTHOS STARTS TALKING ABOUT A BUNCH OF TECH STUFF LIKE WIRELESS TO EXPLAIN TO MALLEUS HOW HE CHANGED BODIES, Malleus surprisingly understands???? I half expected him to combust on the spot from confusion... DBHLBSYOFOFYAAFIAFIL MALLEUS IS BEING DUNKED ON BY A CHILD, Ortho says that since magic is powered by imagination, Malleus cannot block Ortho's advances or force his new body under sleep since Malleus does not understand tech.

I can't believe him being shit with tech is actually relevant to the plot 💀

AEFHLBFBYFOVYFEQRUROQ OB MALLEUS PROCEEDS TO RESPOND WITH VIOLENCE, HE'S GOING TO DESTROY THE ANALYTICAL ANCHOR SO ORTHO DECIDES TO FIGHT BACK

RIP Or-kun, he could only resist for so long... his attacks have no effect in this domain where Malleus has complete control.

JUST 30 SECONDS BEFORE THE ANALYSIS ENDS, QUICK ORTHO STALL HIM BY SHIT TALKING MORE!!! I KNOW CHILDREN CAN BE SAVAGE, SO UNLEASH YOUR WRATH

HFBFYOAEOFYEEIAFL MALLEUS.?>??? ?? ? ?? ???? HE IMPLIED HE'S GOING TO KILL OFF ORTHO AND THEN GOES OFF (?) ON ONE OF HIS DOGGIE DRONES...

"Good night, little Shroud." You have to hear it for yourself, it sounds very ominous 💀 He really said he ain't above child murder, eh?

??? For a second Malleus froze and his shot missed? So Ortho decides on a strategic retreat with the second dog drone. NO MALLEUS ENDED 02 TOO, IT TOOK A BLOW FOR ORTHO WHILE HE RETRIEVES THE ANCHOR

We cut back to STYX, which is dedicating its resources to creating an opening in Malleus's barrier for Ortho to escape. He clears the barrier!!

Aaaaaaah, another cute moment for Shroud Mama! She and Shroud Papa collapse onto the floor in relief. He has sustained some damage, but his core is intact!

One line I really like from Malleus is him referring to Ortho and others as "uninvited guests" that he's going to chase off no matter what.

NOOOOO THEY CONFIRMED BOTH DOGGIE DRONES GOT MCMURDERED IN THERE OTL Never forgiving Malleus for this, fr (Shroud Mama says she can fix them though so we're all good!)

They tell Ortho "welcome back" and Ortho says "I'm back" 😭 AND THEY GROUP HUG

Shroud Papa says that Malleus's UM... reminds him of Grim's magic... WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN

STYX has support from Briar Valley, which should help with their analysis. However, the results so far are not looking good. According to Shroud Papa, the barrier is 99% impossible to destroy unless either Malleus dies OR Malleus chooses to lower the barrier himself.

It's not plausible for Mama to make enough Cerberus Gears for a whole army. Besides, if they they destroy the barrier, Shroud Mama theorizes that they may also accidentally destroy the consciousnesses of everyone on Sage's Island... so that's definitely not an option!

FJLDADBIAFSVYOFFEQFA ORTHOS UGGESTED TELLING MALLEUS "Your grandma is so sad" FROM OUTSIDE THE BARRIER TO CONVINCE HIM TO LOWER THE SHIELD........ . . . ....... . . .. .... .. . . . . .. . . ... . . LIKE IN THE OLD MOVIES

They're now looking into Idia's dream on a monitor? Ortho notices Idia's dorm room does not have Ortho's mainenance dock, so... um, he realizes that Idia must be dreaming about an alternate world where his little brother never passed.

Shroud Mama is going to try and "hack" into the dream spaces. AJAFSVOSvfvfefea SHE HAS A CUTE LITTLE GREMLIN GIGGLE??? She's very fired up because Malleus insulted mankind's best technology, saying it cannot stand up to his magic. (aslbhflasbifabfd THIS IS WHERE IDIA GETS IT FROM????????)

"It's rare to see Idia so happy." LDBHbiadib THIS BOY IS MAD DEPRESSED, LET HIM BE

"Isn't it time that everyone got tired of the dream world and want to return to reality?" No, Shroud Mama. I guarantee you that most TWST fans WANT to stay in Twisted Wonderland and don't want new content to stop coming out, this is our escapism :)

WAAAAAH ORTHO HE'S REPEATING THE LINE VIL TOLD HIM, THEY HAVE TO TRY BECAUSE NOT TRYING IS ALWAYS 0% BUT 0.001% HAS THE POSSIBILITY TO BECOME 100%

Shroud Papa warns Ortho that Idia may reject reality, and therefore "this" Ortho. He's concerned that this will put Ortho through a lot of emotional stress. Shroud Papa wants professionals (psychologists) to try and contact Idia instead of Ortho.

Oooh, interesting that RSA!Ortho still appears to be similar in body type to Robo!Ortho? I always assumed Ortho was small because Idia kept him "preserved" in the moment of death. Maybe the dream Ortho is just modelled after Robo!Ortho since that's what Idia's memories are familiar with.

Idia loops back around again to the start of his dream, where he is in ceremonial robes and Malleus approaches him. HERE COMES MALLEUS TO GASLIGHT HIS CLASSMATES AGAIN

After all the summary, Idia first comments on how shocked he is that their mom hacked into his computer 🤡 Yeah, Idia... she saw everything... Ortho tells him it's okay, she didn't comment! BUT THAT MAKES IDIA EVEN MORE UPSET, "it's the worst thing for a male high school student!" It just might make him Overblot a THIRD time www

I can't believe THIS of all things is what makes Idia seek revenge on Malleus... (HE SAYS HE WANTS MALLEUS TO CRY AND BEG FOR FORGIVENESS)

I honestly was not expecting to cry this update (since I was thinking it would just be a flashback about how Ortho "woke up" Idia) but NOPE, I just guess every update now is going to elicit tears... I've always been highly invested in the Shroud brothers' storyline, so I'm really happy they touched on it again here and enhanced it by giving us more Shroud Mama and Papa, as well as Phantom!Ortho. It was sweet to see Idia recognize Phantom!Ortho as his brother too instead of completely renouncing him or "replacing" him with Robo!Ortho. ihbdiladqeofqbeafnasi The updates are making me like Idia more, but in the same way you'd like a character for being pathetic... Man made SO many dog chew toy nosies this time 😭

I did not expect Malleus to be so... pro-child murder/j He will stop at nothing to keep everyone under his thumb, and that's so awful. There was so much gaslighting in this part as well, even if Malleus is not directly doing it himself. The fact that his magic can just... do that on its own is... It sort of gives me the vibes of trying to enforce a toxic kind of positivity on everyone, which in of itself has its roots in his own insecurities and inability to cope with loss. He's projecting that onto everyone else, and that has very scary results as we see here.

There were a lot of memes pre-book 7 about how Malleus's inability to understand technology would come to bite him in the ass later, and all of those fans can now feel vindicated because WELL, IT CAME TRUE.

And last, but not least, I'm shocked at Idia's reason for wanting to fistfight Malleus 🤡 BRO'S MAD FR FR... WHAT MUST HIS MOM HAVE SEEN ON HIS COMPUTER TO MAKE HIM SO AGGRO... WAS IT LEWDS OR SOMETHING???????? ?? ? ??? ?????? ?? Glad that Idia is on our side now, this is an excellent place to leave off on for next time!!

I just need somewhere to just write that and people need to hear me out on this : A MALE!Y/N BEING DIAVAL. THE REAL DIAVAL.

Like, yk Diaval in the movie ? That's him, but with a different apparence. He rename himself Y/N for people not recognized him as Diaval.

And one day, Aurora or Maleficent come and say something like "Oh ! Hey Diaval !" (If it's Aurora) or "Long time no see, Diaval." (If it's Maleficent). And I can just see everyone confused because Reader hide the fact he was Diaval and a crow (like he was in a human form, and people had only think he was a human in Diasomnia that know too much).

Also, I can see Crowley that is the real crow of the Evil Queen. And Y/N know he's the crow of the evil queen, and Crowley know he is Diaval. And it would just be akward in public between them, but in private ? I CALL THEM GOSSIPY BITCH-

And just imagine Crowley when he was the evil queen crow with no name, so Diaval found him the name Crowley, and for thanking him, Crowley give him the name Y/N. And years after, Diaval rename himself Y/N before going to the NRC and the evil queen crow rename himself Crowley before being the headmage of the NRC... THEY ARE BROTHERS OUR HONOR.

I also can see Diaval!Y/N scolding Crowley for making Yuu do all his work.

And in the theory Overblot!Crowley, I can just imagine Diaval!Y/N knowing something is wrong with Crowley and finding pretty quickly that Crowley is an overblotter, and (for the phantom!Grim theory) Grim being his phantom. I just know Diaval!Y/N will do all for protecting the children and the staff, he won't fight Crowley because he wasn't a threat (for now) and because he was his friend. And I know Diaval!Y/N will blame himself for Crowley overblot. I just know it.

And for Grim, even if he is a phantom, Diaval!Y/N will just act like if he was a normal child. He'll just watch him a little more closely than the others.

*Ahem*, yeah, just hear me out on crow of the queen!crowley and Diaval!Y/N and the NRC staff and students just being confused.

Evie likes to count her ribs. It’s soothing. She’ll run her fingers down her left side first, feeling carefully from top to bottom before moving on to her right. She’ll dig her fingers into each divot, hook them underneath her rib cage as she sucks in a breath. It’s her morning ritual. Before taking a shower but after her first weigh in of the day. And at night, in the quiet moonlight that sneaks its way through their room's tiny bathroom window, Evie measures herself. She hides the tape measure with her skincare, which she keeps neatly organized in a bin that Mal never touches. She begins with her arms, then her waist, then her hips, and always ends with her thighs. It’s something her mother taught her how to do. They used to do it together, her mom standing by her side as they measured themselves in tandem. They would stand in front of their bathroom mirror, which had a crack in it that split it into two. Sometimes, Evie would line herself up with the fissure, watch as it made her face go wonky. She was uneven and disassembled, just like her insides.

Doing the nightly ritual without her mother is lonely. Evie is almost tempted to invite Mal to join her. She thinks that Mal could keep her on track - the way her mother did - make sure that Evie stays slim and perfectly princess-esque. She thinks that Mal would be kind about it. Unlike her mother, swinging like a pendulum, simultaneously angry when Evie was fatter than her and then even more angry when Evie was thinner than her. But Evie knows that Mal would disapprove. Mal would narrow her eyes, grab her by her wrist and show Evie just how easily her thumb and pinkie wraps around it. Unbearably tiny. She’s done it before. Like back when they were on the Isle and Evie would refuse to eat her share of the rations. Mal does it here too. She'll hold Evie's wrist underneath the cafeteria table whenever Evie is merely moving her food around and not actually eating it. Mal is kind like that. And even if others might think of Mal's grip as too tight, Evie knows better. Mal's touch is the only thing preventing the rot.

Could you try and do one for the Maleficent AU where Maleficent herself shows up somehow. Maybe Gilgamesh is like hello there beautiful and Thena gets all jealous and protective and then they have a fluffy comfort at the end.

Stunning.

She was elder than Thena, not that one could tell a fae's age based upon appearance. But something about her...she was a faerie of old magic. Black horns coiled from her head, her wings were black in some light and brown in some. They were huge, long and silken, practically dragging on the ground behind her.

Her lips were red like a fresh pomegranate.

"Thank you for escorting me, captain," she thanked in a silken voice. She smiled, the colour of her lips making it clear when they tugged upward gently.

Gilgamesh blushed.

Thena pursed her lips to herself, observing from a respectful distance.

The fae was from the Moors, word had it. She belonged to another mothernest entirely, one more inland and to the north. She had a great control of magic that most fae didn't even possess anymore, much less know or teach. But her relationship with the humans was good, and thus she was acting as an ambassador of sorts.

"I will bring word back to the queen and to my own flock. I'm sure the mothernest will welcome any of yours who would like to see our ways."

"I'm sure some of us will take you up on your offer."

Thena tilted her head, trying to get a look at Gil's face as he said it, but his back was facing her. She didn't like how eager he sounded.

"You have done good work to associate with the humans here, it is admirable," she congratulated him, her eyes still catlike and intimidating.

A bird - a crow, or perhaps a raven - cawed on the head of her staff.

Thena tried to at least get a good look at the fae's familiar, but its head tilted too often.

"It hasn't been easy at all turns," Gil admitted freely. "But I think we're making real strides. Some of us here have good history with humans, so we're trying more, I guess."

Thena smiled; he was mentioning her, in not so many words.

"I value a fae who can see past a human's nature," the woman said with a hint of a laugh in her voice. "I have a...complicated history with them, myself."

Gil laughed. "I gotta admit, I wasn't all that fond of 'em. But I guess they're growing on me."

Thanks to her, Thena mused as she waited and waited and Gilgamesh to conclude his conversation. He usually wasn't one for idle chatter with his charges.

"They have 'grown on me' as well."

The fae had an interesting speech pattern, like she wasn't used to conversing with her own--or conversing in general, perhaps.

"You are welcome in the Moors as well, of course."

Thena's wings bristled, her feathers raising in their follicles. Just what kind of invitation was that? An invitation to the mothernest was one thing, but was this fae proposing Gilgamesh come and take a tour of her home?!

The bird cawed again (definitely a raven).

The woman's hand stroked its feathered head, and Thena saw that she even had long claws on the end of graceful fingers. Perhaps it was a trait of northern forest fae. They had trees to scale to make their nests.

Thena pursed her lips, raising her wings into proper posture as she decided that she had waited enough. "Excuse my intrusion."

"Thena?" Gil said aloud, surprised by her interruption.

"Of course," the female observed her with those same predatory eyes.

Thena did her best to keep her wings still behind her as she stopped behind Gil's shoulder. "I was rather fond of the humans who inhabited the Isles a number of decades ago. I understand you have a good rapport with the human kingdom close to your mothernest in the north."

She tilted her head, her bird mirroring the action. "Indeed, the queen of the coastal kingdom and I are quite close."

She said it like there was more to it than that. Thena tilted her head in return, "Gilgamesh does well with the humans. They're fond of him."

She smiled, "I'm sure they are."

Thena's feathers raised again, although she did her best not to seem too ruffled by the technically innocuous statement.

"Thena's the one who's built the best relationship with them," Gil shifted, even putting his hand on her shoulder. "It's thanks to her that we've made any progress."

Thena tried to look at Gil in thanks for his praise, but she had far too much trouble taking her eyes off the woman facing them. She seemed amused; was what Gil said humorous?

"Thank you for your hospitality," she smiled at Gilgamesh again. Then, she turned to Thena, "I hope we will cross paths again. You should meet the humans of Ulstead."

Thena nodded, not entirely sure what to make of the exchange.

"Until then," she nodded, her ruby lips upturning again. Her wings outstretched, and her familiar took to the sky ahead of her, "guard, Thena."

Thena and Gil nodded to the woman as she launched herself into the sky. Her wings were truly strong, letting her climb at an incredible rate. Beautiful too.

"She was nice."

Thena glanced over at him, with his hands on his hips and a dumb grin on his face. She sighed, letting her fangs breathe.

"I figured you'd like her."

Well, since he seemed to like her so much. "Hm."

"You should see the Moors, I bet you'd like them, based on how she described them."

"Would I?" Thena asked him, irked that he was suggesting so openly that she go visit this...stranger. "She told you about them at length, did she?"

"Well sure, she asked about the mothernest here, what the forests are like," he shrugged as they started walking back in the direction of the cliffs. "The Moors sound interesting--magical, she said."

"Did she?"

That came out a little too sharp. Thena felt it as soon as it was off her tongue, and obviously Gilgamesh received its sharpness. She avoided his eyes as he looked at her. "You okay?"

"Of course," she muttered down at the sandals on her feet. "I'm glad you enjoyed your time with her."

That came out even sharper, somehow. Gil tilted his head but Thena even moved somewhat away from him as they walked.

"Hey," he said more gently, pulling her back by the hand, "wait, just look at me."

She didn't want to. She felt flustered by how strongly she had reacted to a strange fae smiling at him. Well, it wasn't just that, it was how he had smiled at her, too. Thena squirmed (as did her wings).

"Thena," he prompted, "did she...bother you?"

She frowned, feeling heat creep up her neck. "You seemed rather impressed with her."

Gil stepped closer to her, his smile turning more gentle. This was more like the Gilgamesh she knew and...knew. "She was nice. She knows a lot about humans. And she's flying back to be with her family."

Thena peeked at him.

"I told her all about you," he said with a grin. "Told her about how you came up from the southern Isles and I've been enchanted by you ever since."

She rolled her eyes. He would not charm him way out of trouble this time.

He leaned closer, though, moving his hands to her cheeks to make her meet his eyes. "Don't believe me?"

Thena's eyes fluttered, his breath hitting her cheeks. "You seemed rather enchanted by her, as well."

He chuckled before leaning in, touching their lips together gently. "Did I?"

He damn well did. Thena kissed him again, rising up on her toes.

"How could I be?" he smiled, moving his lips to her cheek as he slid his hand up her back and between her wings. "When I've already found the most beautiful fae in all the realms."

Thena inhaled as her nose hit the robes over his chest. He smelled of sea air and of pine forests. She nuzzled into him, although she felt something in the folds of his tunic.

He had her feather slipped into his robes, over his heart.

"Am I forgiven?" he asked as she wrapped her arms around him as well. He massaged between her wings with one hand and held her waist with the other. Their heads hovered close, their horns even knocked together slightly in their proximity.

"Just," she offered minimally. She still wasn't happy with how taken he seemed with the beautiful fae, no matter how little she blamed him for it.

"What if we stop by the human farms on our way home, ask for some apples?" he suggested as he grasped her hand in his.

"Hm," Thena sighed, parting with him somewhat reluctantly. Her wings fluffed behind her. "I suppose that would be agreeable."

He could clearly tell her ire wasn't nearly what she made it seem to be. But he played along, bowing to her as he would when they had first met and were coming to know one another.

"Will you carry them home for me?" she asked needlessly. Of course he would, but she was savouring the idea of a feeling like a fae with a perspective mate wrapped around her finger.

"Anything for you," Gilgamesh promised her, bending his head to kiss her shoulder as she passed him to take off first.
