From 1927. Clara Bow in "IT". This was her standout performance that got her finally recognized by her adoring public. She was Hollywood's First Female Sex Symbol. The silent era of the 1920's was her decade to shine and standout from the crowd. She did make a few memorable sound films in the Pre-Code sound era. "It" refers to sex appeal which was still a taboo subject in polite society of the 1920's. This is a scene with a new improved jazz score.
Weird thought:
"Is American Ultra the only film that is literally a reverse Manic Pixie Dream girl film?"
So most people are aware of the Manic Pixie dream girl trope I'm guessing but in case anyone isn't it's basically ordinary guy who has boring ordinary life has girl come into his life who is super quirky and different and he falls for her and she shows him the fun on life.
It's hard to say much about American Ultra without spoiling it but I can say the two start in a relationship and in love and it's not her who shakes up his life and it's revealed quite the opposite happened....
