Yesterday was my birthday!
In the past I typically love celebrating my birthday! That normally involves either game nights with friends or a fun trip. Last year and now this year due to health issues those things have been difficult to do.. Last year I was fresh out of surgery and this year I'm just a few days away from a major surgery. Because I can't do much to celebrate I figured I would share my wishlist for surgery recovery items. Since I have fibromyalgia I need all the recovery help I can get! I'm so ready for the surgery but I also know that recovery is going to be rough!
The wishlist link is here
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/21DWNBKK7SDHD?ref_=wl_share
And if you don't want to use Amazon, my PayPal and Venmo are both @SelinaMariaA and CashApp is $SelinaMAngotti
The reason for the surgery is that after having reoccurring blood clots we discovered that I have Venous Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (vTOS). So to allow my veins to work properly I'm having decompression surgery, which will be removing my first rib on the problem side and possibly removing muscle, and I will probably need vein repair too. It's been hard dealing with this, my arm and shoulder has been just getting worse and worse. I'm so thankful that my hematologist recognized it for what it is!

I’m here and I’m still going!
Week 2 of the challenge is nearly done and I have to say the last 24 hours have been a challenge. I got my period last night and I’m bloated, heavy, and in pain. This happens every month on my period so it’s not a shock, but it’s hard to have done this work, weigh-in, and have the scale give me a number higher than on my starting day.
I’m able to reframe it and see it logically, but it still frustrates me because at this moment in time there don’t feel like there have been any benefits. That in itself isn’t true either though. My sleep time is becoming more routine. I’m 17 days sober today. My daily step count is the highest it’s been in about twelve months. I also feel less heavy. I have less inflammation and less anxiety about my health because of the amount of fruits and vegetables I’m getting. I haven’t purchased takeaway food in 16 days either and I’m saving money. I know these are all good things. I guess what I really wanted was to see that scale move though.
I’m not giving up. I just needed to vent my frustrations, acknowledge it’s shit timing, and now keep going. I can do this. And I know that because I had to do it once in my 20s and then again in my 30s. It might be more challenging this time, but I can still do it.

Meds!
I drew a picture just to make a post about medications. 😅 I am on so many meds now. Keeping me awake, replacing hormones, regulating my moods...
Tumblr media
I DON'T want judgements, or advice. I just want to be allowed to be open about the fact that I DO have mixed feelings. I have worries, trauma, anger, and relief. I'm happy to be doing better. I wish I could do more. I'm still working towards a lot of health goals. But sometimes I just look at all my meds and think... "Oh damn. That's a lot!"
Since I used to work with community service, I've met a lot of people who got in legal trouble for carrying unprescribed medications. I had to take all my meds through the airport recently, and I kept thinking, "They can't stop me for this... they can't ask me about my medical history... I have proof I'm allowed to have these!"
(Please note that my treatments are not up for debate, and I don't need any medical advice in this format. Thank you!)

When I look back at 2020 and 2021 I cringe and become so emotional, those were the worst years of my life. And yet somehow I survived them and came out so much stronger. I can't believe I'm still here. I will survive this and anything that comes my way this year too.

HOW TO HEAL AFTER A BAD DAY ৎ୭ ॱ ₊ . *
Tumblr media
“ It doesn't matter what anyone says. If there's something you want to do, don't mind what others think and just trust yourself.” -Lalisa manoban
Tumblr media
Healing after a bad day is essential to maintain your well-being and resilience. Here are some strategies to help you recover and find peace after a challenging day:
by: ★﹕byeolgιrᥣ﹒
1.Acknowledge Your Feelings:
Allow yourself to feel your emotions without judgment. Acknowledge what you're feeling, whether it's frustration, sadness, anger, or disappointment.
Journaling: Write down your thoughts and emotions to process and release them. Writing can help you gain clarity and perspective on what happened.
2.Self-Compassion:
Be kind to yourself: Practice self-compassion by treating yourself with the same kindness and understanding you would offer to a friend in a similar situation.
Positive affirmations: Repeat positive affirmations or self-compassionate statements to counter negative self-talk and boost your self-esteem.
3.Physical Relaxation:
Deep breathing: Practice deep breathing exercises to calm your nervous system and reduce stress. Focus on slow, deep breaths to bring relaxation to your body and mind.
Progressive muscle relaxation: Tense and release each muscle group in your body to release physical tension and promote relaxation.
4.Engage in Self-Care:
Take a warm bath: Soak in a warm bath with Epsom salts or essential oils to relax your muscles and soothe your mind.
Engage in a hobby: Do something you enjoy, whether it's reading a book, listening to music, painting, or going for a walk in nature.
Healthy meal: Nourish your body with a balanced and nutritious meal to support your physical and emotional well-being.
5.Connect with Others:
Reach out to a friend or loved one: Share your feelings with someone you trust and feel supported by. Talking to others can provide comfort and perspective.
Social support: Surround yourself with positive and supportive people who uplift you and make you feel understood.
6.Mindfulness and Meditation:
Mindfulness practice: Practice mindfulness by focusing on the present moment without judgment. Mindfulness can help you calm your mind and reduce stress.
Guided meditation: Listen to a guided meditation or visualization to relax your mind, release tension, and promote inner peace.
7.Reflect and Release:
Reflect on the day: Take some time to reflect on what happened during the day, what you learned from the experience, and how you can move forward positively.
Let go: Release any lingering negative emotions or thoughts through activities like meditation, visualization, or simply taking a few deep breaths and letting go of what no longer serves you.
You are capable of overcoming any challenge that comes your way. Remember that setbacks are just temporary roadblocks on the path to success. Stay focused on your goals, believe in yourself, and trust in your ability to rise above any obstacle. You have the strength, resilience, and determination to achieve great things. Keep pushing forward, stay positive, and never underestimate the power of your own potential. <143

I have a bookshelf next to my nightstand that I use to hold all the things associated with the ideas, wants and needs running through my brain and body currently. I gave it a clean out today so now the piles of things to do, to read and to start have changed height 🙃
I did throw a lot of things out, and rearranged the books into order of importance to read my 10 pages from
The order of importance always changes, and this is just the top shelf of the bookcase

After more than two years of total silence, here I'm again.
It has been a very tough time for my mental health and I almost completely stopped drawing. This is one of the few pieces I was able to do in the last years and... it's quite indicative of the state of mind I was in xD
Thankfully it's so much better now and I'm starting to enjoy drawing again <3
(Pss… If you want to follow me also on patreon you will find many - happier and spicy - new drawings!)

The level of muscle fatigue I have today is telling me that I’ve been working hard and earned a day off. Everything hurts in that good way. Two big days of weights and hill climbs in a row.
No weight loss this week and I’m bloated, but it’s okay. I know my energy output has exceeded what I’ve been eating and I’ve made sure to stick to my target calories every step of the way.
It’s only Friday so I may see a drop before Sunday (the end of the program week) and I’d be so happy if that was the case. If I don’t, it’s okay. I know I’ll keep going anyway. My focus is slowly switching from being thin to being strong and athletic.
