Nesta stans love going on about how shitty the IC is to Nesta. But when Nesta is being shitty to them and her sisters (specifically feyre from literally the first book), they say she’s traumatised.

If we look at it from the IC’s perspective , they have no reason to treat Nesta of Elain really nice.(but they still make an effort)( and yes, I’m aware that Rhys’s effort with Nesta isn’t so great because of how she continues to act. And Mor gave up after a while). They knew Feyre first and heard her story and how her life was and they became family. Now would you honestly treat the people who neglected your friend for years in a time of need right, or would you give them the cold shoulder?

Nesta barely even made an attempt at apologising to Feyre, unlike Elain, who did apologise and is treated well by the IC. Nesta also continues throughout her own book to be really mean to these people who are trying to help her and isolate herself from them.

And the trauma excuse is partially bullshit because Nesta was awful from the first book.

None of the characters are perfect(except for Feyre) and they all make mistakes and treat people wrong occasionally. But when you’re constantly not nice to people you can’t expect them to be nice to you.

saw a video on tiktok saying that ''we criticize Nesta and forgive Feyre for having trauma'', but what do we forgive for? I've said it a few times: there are no canon scenes where Feyre is cruel to Nesta. there are no scenes where Feyre is half of what Nesta is to her. the only thing that Nesta stan uses is the fact that Feyre, Nesta's family, along with Elain, decided to intervene in Nesta's destructive behaviors. stop painting Feyre as Nesta's villain, she just isn't.

Hello everyone, starting the year 2024 with another commission 💕

This beautiful art has been in my dreams for a long time and I am immensely grateful to @anamenezes_art (Instagram) for making exactly as I imagined.

I thought of this scene as if it were Nesta and Cassian's first morning after the Mating Ceremony at the River House. Feyre woke up and was passing by Nesta and Cassian's room and saw through the crack in the door that Nyx had crawled into the middle of their bed. This art gives me love, affection and family, which was everything I felt at the end of ACOSF.

Nesta and Parentification

Nesta was not the parent of Feyre. She didn't "let" her youngest sister go out to hunt. That was their father who sat back and quite literally did nothing when their fortune ran out and he had young children he should have provided for.

She also didn't have to "step up" and take their fathers place on providing for and caring for her younger siblings. And before people come at, neither did Feyre, but she's the one who chose to do so because of her mother's promise.

People forget Nesta was still a teenager when Feyre started hunting, not a full grown adult. Nesta also did what she could to help Feyre during those times. She sent letters out, performed domestic tasks like chopping the wood, and was willing to sell her body to find a husband just so Feyre had one less mouth to feed.

And if you want to hold Nesta accountable for Feyre going out to hunt, and not stepping up, you better hold the same stance for Elain since she's older than Feyre to.

always insane to me how everyone is jumping to blame Nesta for her families poverty instead of their father?????? this happens the entire series and then when Papa Archeron shows up last minute for the finale battle everyone is just like “🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹” expect* for Nesta who can only remember how he actually never really cared for her and how she is the one who holds his mantel for not doing anything/providing for them. its okay though he gets a pass bc his knee! its shattered, expect it was miraculously healing before his sudden death! but that’s okay Nesta suffers and becomes violently depressed/traumatized by his death in which no one helps her progress through! it takes Cassian the entire book to finally realize the fire sounds like a snapping neck and that’s why she flinches around it. but he sure noticed her huge boobs on her sickly thin body!! absolute himbo frat boy chad of a man. guys on a serious note when are we going to stop holding Nesta accountable for their father’s actions? im getting sick of having this discussion. 

also i find it hilarious Cassian sticks up for Feyre here when he literally does not care about her, if he did he would’ve done the same when Rhys told him to keep the wings secret. just like if he truly cared about Nesta he’d stick up for her, too. instead he insults her and sets himself up to look like a fool all in one go.

Did you not read the fucking book. She tried multiple times to escape the house and she couldn’t make it hundred steps with falling and nearly killing herself. What don’t you understand about the fact that Nesta had been starving herself for almost a year. You think that she going to be able to just get up and go down ten thousand steps. She could barley walk after two hours of just stretching.

Elain telling Nesta “All you can think about is what my trauma has done to you” was incredibly ignorant and no one can convince me otherwise.

For some reason, Elain thinks the trauma that had resulted from that night belongs solely to her and Nesta is being selfish for trying to take any ownership of it.

Everything in Nesta’s life, has always been about Elain. She came first and she never stopped to think about how it could impact Nesta. Very rarely does Nesta have the time to face her own trauma and learn to heal from it because she was always in environments/situations that put her on guard to protect her sister. And Elain has always been comfortable allowing her to do so while she retreats to the background where it was safe. She has never thought twice about putting Nesta in these positions all her life. 

When the sisters first come to Pythian, Elain completely checks out from the weight of the loss and trauma she has experienced. Which is completely understandable. But she isn’t the only one to have lost so much. So had Nesta. But at a time where Nesta may have needed her support, she wasn’t there. 

All Elain could think about was what their shared trauma has done to her. But Nesta never cared.

Those first few weeks in Pythian? Nesta was there to check on her. To make sure she is eating. To ensure her wellbeing. To see to her needs. To make sure she is comfortable.

In ACOSF, for the first time in Nesta’s life, she isn’t capable of putting Elain first. But Elain is unwilling to confront the possibility that the trauma they both experienced that night may have affected her sister differently than it did her. As a result, she avoids putting herself in a position where she might have to face the full extent of that truth.

I’m not saying that Elain doesn’t have a right to feel greatly impacted by what had happened to her. She went through alot. But she doesn’t get to pick and choose whose trauma that night was greater and warrants more concern.

on my "anti elain/anti elriels are allergic to reading comprehension" tirade; taking the word of nesta (who is literally proven in the same book to be unreliable when it comes to her perspective of elain with her "elain is like a dog" comment that cassian later disproves) on blind faith about how elain would love the spring court or that it was "made for someone like her" simply because it has flowers when, in the first book, we are explicitly told that there is no gardening done in the spring court- which is what elain actually enjoys about flowers, the actual process of gardening and getting her hands dirty. it's like sjm is trying to tell us something about elain and how fundamentally no one in the inner circle (cough, besides azriel, cough) understands her as a person.
