Can clever plotting end the Holy War? Sure. But this time the plot’s just, “Meliodas decides to fuck around and find out and drag everyone he can think of into it."
ah yes another drabble that I got too shy to put in the reblogs. this meme format gives me so much joy
from that reblog chain: Yet another reason why the Demon King ducked up by making his preteen son a war commander. The amount of strategy he displays by doing that is… might I say god awful. He consulted ZERO people on the development of children. Probably freaked out when he saw baby Mel for the first time. Like "STOP SCREAMING I COMMAND YOU TO STOP."  *even louder infant screaming* "YOU CANNOT GET AWAY WITH THIS INSOLENCE!” levels of ignorance.
The only thing stopping Ten Commandments Meliodas from getting the audacity to kill him sooner was a lack of a support system. This kid saw the slightest hint of hope and went OH YEAH. PEACE. ALL THE WAY LETS GO. and immediately was such a disaster about it that he sent shockwaves through history. Imagine if he had been allowed to properly communicate with his brother and others even once every several weeks. The hijinks TC Mel would get into.
Prompt:
The traumatized teen leader of the Ten Commandments finds a little hope in his own home. Throwing as much caution to the wind as he can possibly afford, he drags his precious little brother around the Demon Realm and the battlefields of Britannia to find a solution to the war that’s fucked up their lives from the beginning. More and more happless souls are yanked into the rebellion as impulsive kid shenanigans ensue. Then Meliodas and Zeldris accidentally open up a litttle too much to their new friends and news of their (and Elizabeth’s!) home life goes viral, roping in the four archangels and the ten commandments who are not fucking stoked to hear what they’ve been left in the dark about. This is the aftermath. In meme format.
________
Zeldris: I remember last time we got the chance to talk like this you asked me why I always work so hard. And I got too nervous to answer
Meliodas: uh huh
Zeldris: well… the truth is… I have this dream. That one day I’ll be able to make the demon realm a peaceful place. No more reliance on violence to prove our value. Just, just us demons, working to be the best we can be.
Meliodas, feeling a lil bit of his soul revive as his third eye is being pried open with a chainsaw: ‘keep it cool Meliodas don’t be a blubbering weakling in an important moment’    d-damn Zel…that...
Zeldris: I know it’s strange. To imagine a world where we could give up satisfying our vengeance against the goddesses. But it’s doing so, so much more harm than good. I can see it. I know you might not understand why I would be willing to give it up, with what the goddesses have done to us… to you… to mom. You think I haven’t guessed what happened to her, but… unless father killed her… no, that’s not important now. What’s important is how we move forward… if we just… stay stuck like this, then what’s the point of it all?
Meliodas: nah FUCK the war. It’s all pointless BS. Mom knew it too
Zeldris: please don’t - wait what
Meliodas: don’t what?
Zeldris: um. I thought you might be really angry
Meliodas: what, for being stronger than me? Strong enough to hold onto hope even after all this time?? Zel. I’m glad you could share that with me
Zeldris: 🥹
Meliodas: That dream... I would love to make it come true. even if trying to make this place less of a hellhole is a big hassle and doesn’t work out like exactly like we thought, I don’t think I could regret trying. You’ve shown me love can grow here after all... I have a reason to try
Zeldris: Big brother… do you… doyouwanttorulethedemonrealmtogether one day?
Zeldris: I’m the second prince, and I know father expects much less of me. But I’m capable. I’ll be of use right by your side. You’re the heir. The one everyone expects will be king. Fullfilling that... Is that the path you’re dreaming of? Is that what you want to do?
Meliodas: !    Weeelll. Actually. It never meant anything to me, being the heir. Except more pressure from the Demon King. If there’s gonna be a new Demon King, it should be you. That’s what I think.
Zeldris: Ah. So that’s how you feel... in that case, are you still willing to continue on as a prince at all?
Meliodas: like I’d let you shoulder all this BS all by yourself if I could help it. I trust I’ll... “be of use”?
Zeldris: No-no-I-that sounds- use? No- I don’t think like that -!
Meliodas: Aw, Zel, your face is all reddddd. Hehe. Always wanted to turn the tables on you like that! Don’t worry. I know it’s because father makes you so unsure, and I unwittingly helped out with that for a while.
Zeldris: Hmph. You just can’t restrain yourself. Don’t make me so anxious when you know I already am!
Meliodas: I’m sorry, I’m sorry. But you know-
Zeldris: Yes, I know. You love me. When do you think we’ll be capable enough?
Meliodas: hm  *remembers a certain silver haired goddess*
Meliodas: Well, that depends…. How much into the realm of crazy are we willing to let this revolution become?
Zeldris: I’ll do anything I have to for our people.
Meliodas: great. great. How good are you at Public Speaking by the way
*some time later*
The demon king: 👁️👄👁️
Assorted people from all five clans, several Induras, a bucketload of dragons and miscellaneous creatures from all over Britannia, Bloody Ellie and some archangels, all of the vampires under a newly crowned queen, and the demon army, including Gowther who somehow broke out of prison and found Glariza along the way:
. . .  you’ve been staring at us for five minutes. That’s gratifying and all but I hope you don’t expect us to explain. Trust me, you don’t want to ask how we all got here. No time for that anyway. We also have questions. So many questions... Questions we prefer you answer before we all kill you. For starters, why are your sons lolis and how the hell are they talking to those CREATURES in the back. Do you see those? Please tell us we’re hallucinating at least some of them. Is that a pig?
Zeldris: rude. Karen has been dragon queen for eons. She knows more languages than I do and probably understands every word you are saying. I’m just doing my best to translate, that is all.
Meliodas: his name is Wild :D isn’t he cute?
Wild: Meliodas-sama why is your father’s face so red? I think he needs a healer.
Ludociel: a pig that speaks? this truly IS hell. Why the fuck did you summon all these untrustworthy creatures from purgatory. Meliodas, I can’t wait to punish your father for bringing you into this world. I can’t believe his mistake is working in our favor right now. MAEL STOP HUGGING THAT THING
Mael, choking on the fluff: this is the best day of my life for so many reasons
Wild: Good to hear, my friend!
Elizabeth, removing her face from the fluff: AMEM. Thank you for having an audience with us, demon king. We have important news. We are ending the Holy War once and for all. Die or die. I'd give you the option of living, but you'd die anyways. Your people are really pissed that you sent your own kids to war and lied to them about it. Whether you live or die, whatever your punishment for prolonging this war will be, that is their call, not mine.
Demon King: FOOLS. DO YOU REALLY INTEND TO KILL ME? when the dust settles here, you will all be dead, and the Holy War will begin anew!
Elizabeth: when the dust settles, I'll be making love to your son on my golden throne, and you'll be a scorned, forgotten memory.
Meliodas: looking forward to it!
Zeldris: I’m gonna kill you brother
Demon King: you mortals cannot POSSIBLY fathom the thoughts of a God. Why I've done the things I've done is beyond you.
Random demon: could say the same for any other child abuser...
Ludociel, shouting at the demon king with equal ire: YOU could not possibly fathom how MUCH I have had to deal with ever since Lady Elizabeth brought that horrible demon and his gaggle of abominations into our camp! I have seen things. Felt things. Even tasted things. That no goddess should ever have to again. (*Meliodas grins evilly*) I don't even care anymore. What is strategy? What’s logic? We ate rocks made by a 5-year-old to get in here safely
Merlin: I'm 12
(Bloody) Elizabeth to the demon king: touch her and ill torture you to death
Demon King, trying desperately to figure out why there's a small child here and why Bloody Ellie is being weird about her, she LOOKS FAMILIAR, oh god is this her child, HOW LONG HAVE THOSE TWO BEEN A THING, this isn't their weird fucked up love child is it??:
I AM GIVING YOU FIVE MINUTES TO LEAVE THIS REALM
Rou, completely ignoring the 200 ft tall giant: oh my God Mel he fell for it!
Ludociel, also completely ignoring him: WHAT??
Meliodas: that was frozen tree blood. And a prank. Your goddess magic is adequate to protect you that's why we had you all cast Saint's Coat
Merlin: Maple Syrup. It’s called maple syrup. And magic potions don't taste nearly that good. I'm shocked you fell for that Ludo. you really are losing it
Gowther: technically, he isn’t wrong. The potion to combat the miasma is partly made from organic material from purgatory. There were some rocks in it. And also bone.
Sariel: when did you go to purgatory???
Mael (muffled by Wild's fur): rock is organic?
Zeldris: 84% of native purgatory rock is!! It’s even been linked biologically to a demon’s darkness. It’s fascinating. I read a whole book about it
Sariel: hello??? who took this man to purgatory without saying shit to anyone??
Tarmiel: I don’t even know who that is. I can’t remember when he got here
Demon King: YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW YOUR ALLIES?! YOU SNIVELING NAIVE FOOLS! STOP THIS.
Mael: not true, we know who he is!  that’s the boyfriend of the demon I found trapped in a magic circle in the woods, remember? And I was like, I’m kinda having an exestential crisis right now so it could just be me, but if a goddess and a demon can really be friends and being a pacifist is okay actually and everyone was just being a bitch to me for no reason, then fuck it, who cares why the demon king put you in here? I’m setting you free. just promise you won’t wreck anything. make a demon contract with me or whatever and let’s end this cursed war. and she went “yea actually i’m directly an enemy of the demon king. he threw my lover in jail :(” and then me and Elizabeth and that guy over there *Doll Gowther throws up a peace sign* did a jailbreak while you lot were arguing over whether you could trust Mel or not? Remember that guys?
Ludociel, who did NOT remember, on the verge of fainting:
Mael: Wait did I not tell you ANY of that?!? BROTHER I’M SO SORRY
Doll Gowther: Don’t be. He would not have let you contribute in a substantial way again.
Ludociel:  I HATE YOU ALL. EVEN YOU ELIZABETH YOUR VIRTUE IS UNSALVAGEABLE
Elizabeth: do I owe you dessert Mel or does him insulting my virtue in this context not count
Meliodas: I’m not actually sure…might have made that bet too vauge
Zeldris (to Merlin): I’m not letting them adopt you. You can be my little sister
Demon King, finally realizing who Merlin is and that he’s not getting out of this unscathed unless he gets serious: THAT’S IT. YOU THINK YOU CAN DEFY ME? BARGE INTO MY REALM UNINVITED TO CHALLENGE ME ONLY TO BANTER AMONGST YOURSELVES? GUESS WHAT. YOU CAN’T. EVEN THE MAGICAL POWER YOU RELY ON SO MUCH COMES FROM ME!
The ground begins to shake violently. Besides the obvious, nothing else happens.
Demon King: MY COMMANDMENTS. HEAR AND OBEY. END THIS NONSENSE REBELLION. RIGHT NOW!
The Ten Commandments, permanently scarred from realizing that Meliodas the Destoryer and Zeldris the Executioner were kids this whole goddamn time, and not just weirdly short: ...loooooook...uh...here’s the thing. we’re gonna kill you now and we don’t need your power to do it. We got rid of it already. We have the power of, uh, *checks smudged writing on hands, dilligently inscribed by Elizabeth* ... teamwork
Wild: AND OUR MIGHTY BODIES!
TC: and what ... what the pig said
Mael, extracting himself from Wild’s fluff, noticably buffer than 5 minutes ago: Plus the power of the gods! It’s almost noon :)
Zeldris: Damn, we timed this wrong. You better not destroy the castle
Yeah this has been sitting in my drafts for weeks because I don’t know how to end it. Anyone who wants a part 2 let me know lol

4KOTA DRABBLE
Just watched Grudge of Edinburgh and once again my desperation to see Kiane's kids is fueled once more.
---
"What are those things?" A girl with long light brown hair asked as she looked at the creatures standing outside of the forest.
"I don't know, just ignore it." A boy with brown hair replied.
"They look pretty harmless, they're just standing there like statues." The girl said, slowly floating closer to the tall creatures, the moment she flew too close it immediately attacked her.
"Whoa!!" The girl shouted. "It's alive!!! Galehaut look it's alive!!"
"Yeah, Yeah... wait what!!" The boy followed where the girl went and saw the creatures blasting black orbs at his sister which she is easily dodging.
"Should we tell dad about this?" She asked.
"Come here a sec." He said which the girl obediently flew back.
As the girl went back inside the forest the creature stopped attacking.
"That's weird," Galehaut said.
"There you are." A voice suddenly popped it.
"Ahhhhh!!!" The two shouted as they hugged each other, their eyes closed shut.
Galehaut opened his right eye and sighed.
"It's just mom." He smiled, flying up to greet his mother.
"What got you two so scared?" She asked.
"I wasn't scared." Galehaut huffed.
"I'm pretty sure you screamed louder than I did." The girl retorted.
"Shut up Hebe!" Galehaut exclaimed.
"But seriously, what do you two so riled up?" One of the Fairies asked.
"There are these weird things outside the forest, they're like statues but when I came closer they started attacking me," Hebe explained, showing the others the tall creatures.
One of the fairies gasped in horror. "I've seen those before, they're the ones that are taking the Giants and Fairies."
Galehaut tilted his head and hummed, he remembered the conversation he had with Lancelot about it a while back.
"It looks like they don't have any intention of even entering the forest, you're father and I will take care of it, but first you two need to take your breakfast." The giant said.
Galehaut and Hebe nodded and they obediently followed their mother.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking," Hebe whispered to her brother?
"Yeah." Galehaut nodded, "We need a bait though."
------
After breakfast, Galehaut went ahead to talk to his father about the situation while Hebe is anxiously waiting for her brother to return.
The moment she sensed his presence she turned around to face him.
"So, what happened?" She asked.
"We got his permission." Galehaut proclaimed with a wide grin.
Hebe twirled and celebrated. "Now we have to find our bait."
"Don't worry, I already have someone in mind," Galehaut smirked.
------
"Rou please be our bait!!" Hebe begged the fairy, giving him her irresistible puppy dog eyes.
"Won't things work on me? I was once a dog." Rous huffed.
"But c'mon, you'll be the perfect bait, we're not gonna let anything happen to you. We'll find the base of where these creatures are taking all the Giants and Fairies and with your magic, we can easily bring them back to their forests." Galehaut reasoned.
The fairy sighed. "You are very persuasive."
"Fine, I'll be your bait."
"Yes." Galehaut and Hebe cheered and gave each other a high five.
------
"So, what's the plan?" You asked.
"We'll just wing it." Hebe chuckled, earning a smack from the older fairy (well not really but technically)
"You need to have a plan before I let myself get captured," Rou spoke.
Galehaut thought for a bit and stated his plan.
"Is that good enough?" Galehaut asked.
"I guess. Just make sure it'll work." Rou nodded and flew his way outside the forest and started catching the attention of the creatures.
------
Once Rou is captured, both Galehaut and Hebe sneakily followed them as they continued to capture more Fairies and Giants.
"Galehaut look," Hebe called the attention of her brother and pointed at the castle they are slowly approaching to.
"That's our cue," Galehaut said and a spear magically popped out of his hand.
"This is is gonna be fun." Hebe chuckled and a war hammer magically popped out of her hand.
The duo wiped out the creatures with ease and set all of the Giants and Fairies free. Just as they are explaining what happened a couple more came in running towards their direction.
"You guys got captured as well?" A small fairy with purple hair asked, frantically turning around.
"You can all go back to your homes now," Rou said, using his magic to direct each one to where portal they should go.
"But the others are still in there, we can help, we're not leaving them behind." One of the Giants said.
"There's no need," Galehaut spoke, flying upwards to face them.
"I swear on the name of the Fairy King and the Queen of Giants, I will take all of them back to safety," Galehaut spoke with great vigor.
"That is my duty."
The Fairies and Giants thanked them before leaving.
"So what now?" Hebe asked.
"We go forward, I can already sense Lancelot is there... and Tristan? What is he doing there?." Galehaut responded.
------
"Lancelot." Tristan breathed out as he finally saw him again. That fairy was Lancelot this entire time. He has his suspicions as the scar on his forehead is something he can't forget. He won't be able to forget that day.
His train of thought was immediately interrupted as he heard a sound in the distance.
"Looks like something has never changed you're still as cocky as ever." A fairy floating in the sky clapped his hand, and two others flew by his side
"What are you doing here?" Lancelot asked.
"So they know each other?" Tristan thought, he looked very familiar but he can't pinpoint who exactly is he.
"So you can do your own thing and we can't. How rude." A girl flew over to them and huffed.
Lancelot sighed. "I guess you're a better help than him." Lancelot pointed at Tristan.
"Hey!!" Tristan reacted, offended by the statement.
"Who are you anyway?" Tristan asked.
"Let me jog your memory." Both of them transformed into a younger version of themselves.
"Ga-Galehaut!!! Hebe!!" Tristan shouted in disbelief. "But how?!"
Tristan is quite baffled, Galehaut and Hebe has always looked way older for their age when they met when they were kids they looked like they were already a teenager. And now looking at their new form, they look like they're in their early 20s.
"Fairy Puberty, that's what happened." Galehaut chuckled.
"So you two managed to sneak out of the forest without anyone noticing," Lancelot said.
"Nah, I talked to dad about it and he let us go," Hebe responded.
Lancelot chuckled. "Lucky"
"Lucky indeed." Tristan thought.
"So, you guys got any plans on how we sneak in," Galehaut said.
"We barge in there and beat everyone inside!!" Tristan shouted, earning a punch from Lancelot.
"He said, sneak in not barge in you idiot!!" Lancelot shouted.

Love your fics btw 🥺❤️
But 🦈 and 🍬 for the ask game ❤️
Thank you!! 🥺❤️ And thank you for the ask too :)
(Also can I say that I'm impressed that I've gotten 7 emojis for this ask game now, but none have been duplicates)
🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?
Ooh. For nnt I gotta go with daytime Escanor and Diane. I just... don't really know how to handle those two.
I much more prefer writing wimpy night Escanor than arrogant day Escanor. Although both will show up in an upcoming fic of mine (day 21 of my Febuwhump series, whenever I get to that one). So, we'll see how that works out.
As for Diane, I don't know, I just struggle a lot with her character. Which is probably why I have never actually written from her perspective yet.
🍬 Do you write for multiple fandoms? If yes, what is your favorite fic of yours for each fandom?
I mean, technically yes? If we're looking at both my early fanfic days over on FF.net and my current ones on ao3, I've got 60 fics across 12 fandoms. Although, this year I've only posted fics for nnt. Which I don't mind actually, I haven't been this inspired to write since I started writing fanfic (for Lab Rats) back in 2016.
Only 5 of my written fandoms have more than 1 fic posted, so let's look at them, shall we? Going oldest to newest:
Lab Rats - Betrayal
I guess it would be cheating saying my entire A for Always fic, since it's my advent calendar fic and is thereby a collections of 24 fics? (Actually that advent calendar was fun to write, maybe I should do something like that for nnt this year?). So let's go with chapter 2: Betrayal. This one's actually a bit different from my usual stories. It's more of an introspection and deals with Chase's (canon) experiences of betrayal and the emotional impact these had (that was't explored in canon). Over 6 years later I'm still proud of this one.
Lab Rats: Elite Force - Her Baby Brother
This one's a set of three drabbles, showcasing Bree's relationship with her little brother during different stages of their lives. I like this one because writing drabbles is not always that easy, plus at the same time I managed to make them feel like three parts of the same story with a similar structure. (Not a story for people who don't like main character deaths.)
Glee - The Boy with the Christmas Sweaters
Okay, looking back at my Glee fics was actually kinda hard, because the ship I loved back then I can't stand anymore. But I do like this fic! It's a Samcedes fic based on a Christmas prompt. Just some fluff and humor (a rarity for me).
Stranger Things - Trust and Needles
I have a total of 3 ST fics. All of which less than 700 words. All of which Stoncy. This one's just fluffy ot3 shenanigans combined with Steve whump. It might leave a smile on your face (unless you don't like needles or stitching, then you won't like this fic).
The Seven Deadly Sins / Nanatsu no Taizai - Who'll Hug the Prince of Hell?
This one wasn't easy to choose. They're all so new and all so loved. I think I'll have to go with this one though. For starters, it's my first nnt fic, the start of a new era and all that. It also includes a lot of things I love to write about; Meliodas angst, the relationships between the Sins and Meliodas, Meliodas getting the love he deserves, Merlin knowing his whole story, Meliodas and Ban being Meliodas and Ban, King dealing with his feelings and actions towards Meliodas after the reveal. Also, who doesn't love a story where Meliodas gets hugged repeatedly? (I should make Mel get hugged more often)
Anyway. Here's the list for the ask game, if anyone else wanna send me something :)

Elizabeth: Merlin, what did I say to you?
Merlin: Lying is wrong...
Elizabeth: If you know it why do you do it?
Merlin: Becuase I needed a corpse for my experiment!
Elizabeth: More in my favor!
+3000 years later, Camelot
Merlin: Dwyer, what did I say to you yesterday?
Dwyer: Lying is wrong... but it was for a good reason!
Merlin: And it was...
Dwyer: I needed a demon's fang for my experiment!
Merlin: Oh, well, if it's for that it's ok
Elizabeth: Of course not!
Meliodas: Isn't this the same conversation that Elizabeth had with Merlin many years ago?
Akashi: Yes, but this time Merlin is the mother and she loves experiments

Hello!
For the WIP ask game : demon.
🐧
Hello Penguin! Heh, I'm sure that one has cropped up a few times. Alrighty, let's see:
“Besides, he might not even make good bait; those guys were targeting local demons, but Natsu wasn’t a local or a normal demon.” —Demon Tales
“We don’t even know for sure that they’re behind the demon disappearances.” —Demon Tales
“We’ll get old-lady-Eleanor and all of the missing demons back and we’ll beat up anybody who gets in the way.” —Demon Tales
“Then again, how hard was it to accept your demons when you were already dead?” —untitled Umbrella Academy drabble
“Mael didn’t know why the Demon Prince had asked him to come here. The war was over now, finally. With the Demon King dead and the Supreme Goddess still formless, the conflict between demons and goddesses was resolved.” —Brother Talk (title pending)
“No, the Demon Prince wasn’t here to fight.” —Brother Talk (title pending)
“It would have to be handled by his older brother, though he understood why any demon would want to circumvent Ludociel if at all possible.” —Brother Talk (title pending)
“Estarossa was just a demon. Estarossa was just a demon.” —Brother Talk (title pending)
“They were all fooled by the demon Gowther’s illusion.” —Brother Talk (title pending)
“He just assumed that it was because he was… because Estarossa was the son of the Demon King: fighting was all there was.” —Brother Talk (title pending)
“Mael pretended that he didn’t see the tear slip down Meliodas’ cheek; there was no reason that the Demon Prince should be so vulnerable with him.” —Brother Talk (title pending)
“There had been a demon inside of him all this time—a terrible one, at that—and now he was a demon himself.” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“But… He knew how much demons had hurt them.” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“Natsu knew he wanted to be angry at those demons that hurt him and Lisanna and Happy but… Was he mad at the…the demons that… saved them? That saved their lives? Was it…was it because they were demons?” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“He didn’t feel comfortable in his own skin anymore, and he didn’t know whether it was because that black miasma stuff was there and smelled different, or if he didn’t recognize himself with the etherious demon missing.” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“You’ve never met a demon that wasn’t trying to kill you, have you?” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“The demons of the book of Zeref were evil, after all.” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“Only for him to be a demon?” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“She’s half-human, half-demon.” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
“Demon, human…giant, fairy, goddess.” —untitled FT/SDS crossover
---
Whelp I used it a lot, but only concentrated into a few obscure obscure workshop fics, and of course in Demon Tales. Though this did remind me that the Brother Talk oneshot was pretty much done save for editing, but I forgot about it. I should polish that up soon, heheh. Then that crossover is a fun idea and I'm keeping it on the list, but I wrote that before 4KOTA started so that affected my timeline. And my ideas... So unless I kick SDS canon in addition to SDS canon, that's not going anywhere anytime soon. I got enough on my plate anyway XD
Ask about my WIPs

Warnings: None, lmk if I need to add anything!
Notes: “This Love” Collection is a series of one shots that all take place in the same... AU? In this story people have marks which represent the strong bonds people make with others. It’s kinda like a soulmate AU, except it’s not pre-destined love and the marks can fade. Relationships will vary, from both romantic to platonic to familial. Imma attempt to post one of these weekly until I feel I’m happy with how many of these stories I’ve made!
.
.
It was a relatively peaceful day. Everyone was tired from the heat that they couldn’t really escape, even in the Fairy King’s Forest. Fairies and the few giants inhabiting the forest lounged around or had gone in search of lakes or rivers to cool off in.
Diane and King were among them, having found a large lake earlier in the day and they made plans to stay there until the sun set.
The giant sunk deeper into the water with a content sigh, the water extremely deep for just a lake. The cool water lapped at her skin as she shifted to get a bit more comfortable. In the water beside her, leaning against her shoulder was the king of fairies himself, eyes closed and a small smile on his face.
If Diane hadn’t known better, she would have assumed King was asleep.
But she did know better.
King was the protector of the forest, always alert and ready to spring into battle if the need arose. Sure, they were safe, safer than most in these times, and the forest was difficult to find normally. But with the Ten Commandments still at large, one being the very first fairy king, their safety wasn’t completely guaranteed. So King picked up the defenses, making sure there were patrols and always staying in tune with the forest, always prepared to grab Chastiefol and race off to protect those he held dear, even if it cost him proper sleep or well-deserved and very needed relaxation.
She appreciated that he went to such lengths to protect them.
Diane glanced at the fairy resting almost calmly beside her, and her heart filled with a sense of nostalgia she was still trying to figure out. Her memories of their time in the sins together had finally returned, slowly, but they were back at least. However, that wasn’t why Diane felt nostalgic anytime she looked at King, this she knew.
Her eyes fell to her reflection in the water, and she saw the mark on her chest. Diane smiled to herself. The giant had many marks on her chest, representing her dear friends and comrades, her family, but one mark stood out to her the most.
The butterfly wings enveloped in shadows- King’s bond mark.
“King…?” Diane called softly, still looking at the mark in the water. She felt him shift against her shoulder, turning to look at her.
“Yeah?”
She smiled softly, moving her gaze back to him. Diane was hit with that overwhelming feeling of being home when she looked at him. “I know I say this a lot, but… thank you, for everything you do.”
King’s shoulders slumped, the tension leaving from them as he smiled and his cheeks tinged pink. It reminded Diane of someone she knew long ago, a shadow in her mind that had always been a comforting presence when she was younger. She couldn’t remember their face, or anything about them, really. But looking at King, he made her feel the same way that person had.
Safe. And happy.

Giving in to her own Sin
I wrote, what was supposed to be a drabble of a longer piece. I eventually need to write. It’s too long to be a drabble now. But, it’s about my OC Sibendole or Sybil as she’s usally called. She’s the sin of Despair and well enjoy. (I edited a little bit. it probally needs more.)
oh fun fact. I was listening to Ama Lee’s version of Again by Yuuei. It inspired me to write this. I think you;ll be able to see where it’s refernced if your familar with it.
let me know if your curious about my oc, I’d be happy to answer any questions :)
start
“Arrrggghhhh”
The young woman collapsed onto the stone floor in front of the full-length mirror. Dark blue waves falling in front of her face, blurring her vision even more than the tears that welled up in her baby blues. Her nightgown had fallen around her shoulders revealing a scadoloud chunk of her bare flesh, while her fingers scratched and clawed into it.
“Every sin carved is truly everlasting. What’s the point?!” Her sobs, shaking her body. The crimson bat, marring her tawny skin, once her pride and joy,  soon became inflamed as the knight scratched further into it.
A shaking hand reached across the floor, near the bearskin rug where her equipment had carelessly fallen earlier. She grabbed ahold of the jade edged dagger, pricking herself upon the blade. The pain hardly registered in her brain. As she brought the dagger to her collar bone, holding the point precariously above the mark of the beast.
As she brought the wicked edge down, she closed her eyes, only two feel a strong grip on her arm and another around her waist.
“No.” A soft voice commanded. The familiarity of it, along with the scent of fresh-picked herbs and metal.
“Hendy?” the woman croaked out. Glancing up into the mirror, she saw her bedroom. Usually pristinely organized, everything was strewn about, with the glass broken here and there. And most importantly, the tall, white-haired man, holding her disheveled figure into his arms. His own icy blue eyes glimmering with sadness.
“I passed the church! The one where I…A man outside through rocks. I deserve worse... N-no matter what I’ve done. It can’t be made up for. 20 people..” Sybil sobbed.  Then raised the dagged toward herself again, angrily, tears still streaming down her heart-shaped face. “And here I am crying like a baby.”
“Shh… It’s okay. Let it all out.” Hendrickson whispered, kissing the top of her head. She dropped the blade on the ground with a clang. The druid moved the blade away from her, as his grip tightened on her waist.
“I should get clean--”
“Not now. We can do it later.” Hendrickson interrupted her. Sybil blinked surprised at him.  “Just rest for now. We can discuss it, in a little bit please rest now for me.”  Isn’t that what you once told me… The words were left unsaid on the holy knight’s lips, but she felt she understood as her body went slack against him as she cried. And cried. Staining his white sweater, not that he minded. He began rocking her back and forth until she fell asleep.  Hendrickson gingerly picked up her small frame and carried her to his bedroom so she could rest safely.
In the morning they would discuss her sin again. Why she feels she hasn’t done enough to give back to the people. And how it;’s important to always keep moving forward. Right now. This evening he will just stroke her hair, as they sleep through the darkness of the night.

Distracted
Parchment is scattered haphazardly across the smooth wooden floor. Usually this type of disarray would happen by accident as she tends to misplace things often. But this time is different. Meliodas sits on the floor with his back to the bed surrounded by the papers. She tried to see what he was up to before, but one look at some of the information scrawled in neat writing bored her considerably.
Instead she chooses to lie on the bed behind him, her head propped up in her palm. "What're you doing?" She asks, kicking her feet lightly in the air behind her.
Meliodas gives a lengthy sigh not meanly, but definitely fond as he leans his head back onto the bed right under hers. She can see the weariness in his eyes clearly this close up. "It's just a bunch of papers that need to be organized. Stuff like sales, orders, damage costs... I'm usually more on top of this, but lately I've been..." His eyes sharpen as his mind is catches up to his mouth. "distracted."
Elizabeth smiles serenely and runs a finger up the warm skin of his cheek. "Thank you for explaining..." She tells him and drops a lingering kiss to his forehead. His caught breath is loud in the quiet room and the look of pure wonder that washes over his features erupts tingles in her belly.
He nods wordlessly then sits straight once again. She has to sigh at that. She knows he likes the affection as much as she does. She's felt it in the way his hearts race away beneath her palms when she hugs him from behind, and the way his body goes pliant as if to say do with me what you will. So she figures he must be just shy. The idea sends a buzz of possibilities through her mind as she dawns a wide smile. If that's the case, I can be bold enough for the both of us!
The shifting of papers and the November wind knocking against the window spur her into motion. Her expression smooths with concentration as she extends her hands forward like carefully approaching a skittish animal. Her hand makes contact. His hair is wonderfully soft.
Her gaze hones in on the way his shoulders tense. She already knows what he's going to say before he does. "Uh, what are you doing?"
She lets her fingers trail the length of blond hair, feeling a warmth span her lungs at the way he shivers. "Nothing," she pops the word out sweetly as if that'll make him believe it.
"Really?" He says in that way she knows he's smiling. His shoulders sag a little.
She nods even though he can't see, her hand now traveling in bold caresses. She hadn't noticed before but the candlelight makes his hair look darker. "Yep."
He seems to take her word for it and slowly picks up where he left off. Internally bouncing at her success, she edges closer, applying more pressure to her touch. She's never had the chance to do this before, to just be with him in an intimate space, just feeling him near and breathing him in. Her heart creeps louder in her ears as she presses her cheek to the side of his head and simply lets her hands roam.
Her palm goes flat across his clavicle, the other gliding on fingertips down his bare arm. A quiet noise fills his throat as goosebumps raise under her touch. A needy thrum awakens down below. Her hand, so greedy, crawls under the low collar of his black shirt, finding warm skin and thumping hearts. The pad of her finger glances off a nipple.
He jolts and the papers flutter from his hands. "El... Elizabeth, you shouldn't be... doing this."
That raspy tone does funny things to that place wound tight deep within. She finds her control lost to wind and her lips trailing hungrily over skin. Any that she can find. The shell of his ear, the swell of his cheek, and the strong bend of his shoulder. She feels pretty naughty swirling her tongue right there, but when she scrapes her nails over defined abs, Meliodas moans.
Oh my, he moaned.
She's up and moving before she can blink, eager to move to her place in his lap, a place she's wanted for weeks. An unseen paper derails her plans though, sending her falling with a yelp. Instead of the cold, hard floor, she collides with a strong, warm body. She opens her eyes to his face so near hers, the pupils in his eyes blown so wide she'd swear they were black. Now she's the one turning into a quivering mess.
Feeling his panting breaths fan across her lips, Elizabeth takes the opportunity to be honest. "This wasn't my plan, you know."
Her eyes trail leisurely over his flushed skin and watches his Adam's apple leap. "What was your plan...?"
She chooses to show him instead, guiding him back to sitting like before. And then with his eyes looking up at her as if she's the thing of wild dreams, she lowers herself into his lap. Her weight makes him jump and shift his waist away, a bridge of beet red spreading across his nose. It's obvious to her why when what she named his poker after nights of its jabs, strains high in his loose pants. She looks to it openly, legs spreading wider over his thighs.
"Can I touch it?" She asks through a saccharine smile, and reaches down.
His hand catches hers before its made gone an inch and she pulls her gaze up. His eyes are closed, and he looks kind of pained. Like he's fighting some war only he can see. She brings a hand up to cradle his cheek and skims her nose over the other before kissing a spot there. She wants to be able to pour into him the sense that it's okay until he feels what she feels: A sense of peace, blankets of warmth, and an unrelenting want.
Her breathing speeds as she reaches the corner of his mouth and she's hovering there, his air tangling rapidly with hers. Her skin prickles all over with dancing sparks at the idea of just kissing him. He must sense it, feel it in the charged air between them because he captures her face tenderly between strong hands. He opens his eyes and he's looking into her, gaze heavy and intense as he sees something she can't imagine. Maybe it's that place that's been blooming in her chest for what seems like ages shining bright in her eyes. Whatever it is, it emboldens him. And suddenly he's kissing her. And...
Oh my...
She's falling, floating, and rooted all at once as she folds into him. One arm hooks around her waist and a hand tangles in her hair, holding her in place as he devours her lips. It's like being submerged in heat, his mouth slanting over hers, drinking her in, gently coaxing her tongue with his. She whimpers, sinking further with no end in sight as her head starts to spin. She never thought it could be like this, hot and secure all at once. She's losing herself in him, but he's careful with her. Showing her a glimpse of a world never imagined, then slowly guiding her back to what's known.
She finds herself gasping, her lips just grazing his as bashfulness settles in for once. Meliodas being the sweetest thing she's ever known just combs his fingers through her hair, waiting for her to open her eyes. When she does those green eyes are kind and sure, but she spots a pinch a regret there too.
"Elizabeth... I know what you want, but I... I can't give it to you."
Her heart freezes and the feeling positively aches. "Why?" It can't be that he's just shy, not after that kiss.
He brushes her hair behind her ear and caresses her cheek with his thumb in electric sweeps. "You're the princess of the kingdom. That would defile your status."
The pressure leaves her chest and she can't help but giggle at his reasoning. Always trying to look out for her wellbeing. "You're so silly. I want you to ruin me for anyone else."
He leans back in unspoken shock, but her center so close to his rigid poker feels his body respond a bit differently. It makes her want him all the more. "I'm not saying this out of gratitude either. I am grateful that you agreed to search for the Sins to save my papa and free the kingdom, but I like you." She curls her arms around his neck and brings her cheek to his in a wondrous nuzzle, earning herself a breathless chuckle as she says, "I really like you. I know in my heart I'll never feel this way with someone else. I won't ever feel like I can soar above the clouds and take on the world unless it's with you, Meliodas. So, please... make it so that no one else can have me but you."
The world blurs and then the bed is cushioning her back as Meliodas hovers over her. Candlelight throws flames in his eyes as he drags a coarse hand up her thigh, under her nightgown... Her head feels fuzzy, but she knows she'll remember this night well.
"Gladly," he breathes against her lips, finally giving in.

Request: Ticklish
Prompt:  Hey! I love this page and I was wondering if you could do a Ban x Reader were he finds out she has really peculiar ticklish spots, like her ears and palms are ticklish and he teases her about it? Really fluffy? Thank you! ( @keithisanedgelord )
Note: This is more like a drabble than a oneshot, but I hope you enjoy it!!
Word Count: ~700
Warnings: Poorly-written fluff, tickling
You loved cooking. It was your favorite thing to do, making new and bold and exciting things from scratch. You found it very rewarding, and very delicious, too. You landed a job as a cook in a tavern called the Boar’s Hat. It was run by a childish-looking man named Meliodas, who was also the Captain of the Seven Deadly Sins. After he was accused of taking over Liones, he went into hiding as a tavern owner, and got you to work for him shortly after.
He had told you stories of the Sins. There was one time that Gowther walked around naked for a day and another time that King got so drunk that he kissed Diane (but nobody had told him about it) and once when Merlin was experiencing the hallucinogenic aftereffects of an anti-aging potion that Escanor cared for her, and she told him she loved him.
Meliodas had even told you about Liz and King’s sister, Elaine, who was also Ban’s lover. Well, was.
You now took that spot happily. You loved being with Ban! He was attentive and caring and reasonable but was still the funniest person you knew. He was your best friend, and you were his. You guys were always cuddling and together. It made life in the Boar’s Hat even better for everyone, especially Hawk, who now had two excellent chefs giving him excellent scraps. Meliodas was happy since people would have the food and leave better tips, meaning everyone else got more money, too.
Meliodas had closed the bar early one night, wanting to give you, the Sins, Elizabeth, Hawk, Howzer, Gilthunder, and Griamore the night off from working. Everyone was outside, laughing and drinking, except for you and Ban. He wanted to spend time with you, laying on your bed and just relaxing. He wasn’t a big fan of crowds, and you enjoyed the peace you had you him.
“You’re my world,” Ban murmured, nuzzling your head. “I don’t know what I’d do without you, love.”
“You’re too good! Stop!” You giggled, trying to hide your face in your hands. You turned away, face-planting into his lap to avoid him being tooth-rottingly sweet. He laughed, his entire body quaking at your reaction.
“Aw, come on, (Y/N). It’s adorable!” He chuckled, turning you around so that your covered face was looking up. He grabbed your hands, thumbs brushing against his palms. You froze, hands spasming as you squeaked.
“(Y/N)? You okay?” Ban froze as well.
“Mmm, yeah.” You had to play it off. If he found out, he would never let you live peacefully again. He could not, absolutely not, find out that you were ticklish on your palms.
“Hmm, I don’t know. Are you feeling well?” Ban asked, concern in his voice but a glint was in his eyes. Your own eyes widened as you knew what was going to happen next.
Ban’s fingers danced along your palm as you stifled something that sounded suspiciously like a giggle. You had to remain calm, but now Ban knew you were ticklish there too!
His heart swelled. Not only were you everything he could ever ask for and still more, he found another thing out about you. He found it endearing how much you blushed and held such innocence in your eyes. He couldn’t stop the smile that formed on his face out of both mischief and pure, unadulterated adoration for you.
“I’m so lucky to have you,” Ban said as he took your wrist in his hand, and with his other, continued to tickle you. Ban watched as you laughed and screamed and shrieked and tried to swat him away. It was so pure, so sweet, so joyful.
He didn’t let you go, in tickling nor in ever letting you go.

making an nnt "god" a concrete thing with lore / biology. substance if you will. because committing to the bit is fun and nakaba missed out
inspired that the idea that not only should Meliodas and Elizabeth have a less human form but Tristan too! I love the different takes on their designs.
chapters cause this is long! and control f is our friend
canon adjacent lore
children of the gods
awakened god designs
the gods' chosen helpers
extra pet theory because I love y'all and I love elizabeth angst
@kalopsiakey @7-ratsinatrenchcoat thank you for helping out with the brainstorming for the tristan and melizabeth 'eldritch forms'! Hope you like the finished product!!
- - - - canon adjacent lore anyone ? - - - - -
In my aus, I usually go with the interpretation that the SD and DK are the latest two in a line of governing deities, with the others dying to various means. And the SD and DK blotted them out from public memory to establish the maximum amount of control for themselves.
In order to govern their realms, I propose it was a long-standing practice that gods would retain only a percentage of their power, and lend out the rest to trusted ones who help them ensure the safety and health of their realm. There might be other groups that the Archangels and Ten Commandments are in charge of!
Theoretically, this would also allow them to retain a form suitable to walk among their people. None of this taller than a castle shtick. Perhaps the DK and SD are physically magnified with their power. Part of their appearance is morphed by their will - the DK's armor, and the veil across the Supreme Diety's face seem to be symbols of their power. They can also be representative of how the DK was seen as an invincible opponent, and how now one knew the SD's true intentions but thought she's "too holy to look upon and find fault in."
To a god, sacrificing and dividing up your power (especially) in a time of peace is symbolic of trust and humility. In war, it could be neccessary to maintain one's prestige and honor as a monarch., Could mean that you value the ability to live as one of your people as one of them rather than as someone they worship.
- - - - children of the gods - - - -
What's the difference between something like the Supreme Diety and her daughter? Biologically, nothing, I'd assume. In nnt, "god" seems to be a state of being, asserted not simply by having power but by coming into your own and claiming it as you.
I propose that the gods are a conduit for that portion of their realm's magic that would otherwise roam freely, and that the other life in that realm has already absorbed, at birth, the limit each individual can handle. Biologically, that is.
For a goddess or demon to maintain that state in Britannia without cracking holes in the fabric of reality, there'd need to be some way to both reign in that power and dilute it down to a level that's manageable for that individual. And there probably are ways. Let's see what happened to Mel. His 'original powers,' when he accepted them, were raw and undivided; additionally, he had no clue how to manage a power influx of that extent and his mind was NOT in a good place to try and manage an extra extreme stressor. And uh. He has priors with letting his demon powers run amock in a destructive manner. If there's also a psychological component to how your godly powers act, that's the first uh-oh. Second uh - oh: he'd maintained complete certainty that unlocking them would have that kind of disastrous consequences for 3,000 years. self-fulfilling prophecies are a thing. especially if you believe that a demon's powers, specifically, their darkness, is deeply involved with their subconscious. Being 'a god' doesn't seem to logically coincide with being helpless. I think the real reason the DK and SD were trapped in their "bubbles" in their respective realms is their refusal to set aside that power, and walk as a simple demon or goddess even temporarily. A lack of will (in the gods' place) or a lack of control (Mel), rather than a lack of possibility. It makes it more interesting, I think!
In that case, the natural disasters we saw after Mel stepped into that power would be a result of the vast amount of demon realm magic accompanying him running completely amock in the wrong realm, interfering with the other magics present and the balance.
- - - - For "awakened god" designs! - - - -
I think Meliodas would want to keep his appearance mostly the same . . . just with more pizazz. Same with Zeldris, he seems to have it down pretty well already judging by his dramatic entrance in 4kota. If they're able to channel their powers well enough for this, I think they'd leave most 'monstrous' features toggled off while using this form except for their aura, and other associated demonic features such as wings, horns, and claws. They'd use the extra power boost to help their darkness roam with more versatility. Perhaps it'd form a tail behind them and coil about their horns and nearby loved ones like decorative, protective wreaths. It might lend a dragonlike flair to Meliodas, with several sets of horns about his face and dragonlike spines; and likewise, for Zeldris, some regal feathers and a simple, elegant floating crown - irremovable but loved - floating like a halo above his head.
I think Elizabeth would gain another pair of wings (if not more), and a dress of light in the same theme as Meliodas's assault mode outfit. She would have a magnificent crown of light, and she would hate it, she would complain that she didn't even wear a crown at her wedding, why does her magic think she'd want one? and she'd tear it off. every time. Maybe one day she'll accept it. Her brother-in-law tells her it's a symbol of how she'd given her heart, blood and breath to her realm, and to protecting the peace in Britannia, and that it's something she earned. But all she can see is this form is more grandiose than her mother's ever was, regardless of how much more like herself it looks than like some plain, no-faced worship-demanding statue. (That's how Meli describes her mother). Maybe one day! In the meantime, she released most of her original magic back to the Celestial Realm to assist in its revival. And covers up the crown with ribbons her husband sewed for her whenever she's prepping for a serious battle.
The special feature I came up with for what I'm calling Tristan's "awakened god form" is based on a biblical angel's wheels of eyes. That, except Twinkle stars, bright as a goddess's magic but as maneuverable as darkness, and they point in whichever direction he's focused on.
Wings would be feather-based, with darkness that weaves around them like the tounges of flames.
I think even the most high-level demons and goddesses would have less humanlike teeth in the back of their mouths accompanying their molars. Maybe just a little sharper, and much more durable. Maybe a second or third row of teeth that gets less prominent or even more retractable as it nears the lips. sharks come to mind. I'm jealous of their teeth. Why are ours so flimsy. Anyway. 7 rats proposed a demon / goddess child's noticably inhuman teeth might be like that of an anglerfish. Interesting idea.
Like. Uh- puts on a poetic narrator voice Like a wide smile, almost uncannily wide but almost like the way you walk with your feet pointed outward and not an emotion. And when he moves his mouth to speak or frown you can see little gleaming edges along his jaw like a set of jewels in a necklace. You're not sure what they are. Like spikes or horns but… from within. That ought to be decorative, you think, but you've thought the same about the demons’ sets of horns and their fangs and now that you think about it, the shapes surrounding the powered-up goddesses'… is they really magic or something supernatural beyond your mind’s comprehension. . . ?
As for the eyes - dark, demon-colored with swirling golden triskeles in the center. Since in normal form he already has the duality - and it makes sense considering how goddess and demon powers present themselves in their eyes - I think hiding the heterochromia in his eldritch form would make it more horrifying. Like, now we are stepping away from physics into what a “god” is in this universe. The darkness spills out of his eyes like the whisps of dry ice ofc!
- - - the gods' chosen helpers: examinating the the SD's blessings and the DK's curses - - - -
3/4 Archangels' Graces channel a certain element of nature: wind (Tornado), water (Ocean), light (Sunshine), with Ludociel's Flash being the odd one out. I propose this is because Ludociel has such a tainted mindset the only Grace that would take him is the one representing swift, determined action (because hehe). The Ten Commandments, unlike the Graces, have a further element of control - their double-edged nature - suggesting the DK isn't as thorough of a manipulatior (deadbeat hehe) as the SD and cannot rely on his command alone to gain 100% of the TC's focus. There's been clear tampering with the power it gives them, and less trust; they're artificial compared to the Graces, one of which was said to have chosen Escanor of its own free will. As for what they can do - they represent values that are considered virtues. Except for purity. what the hell does Derieri's purity do again? Not that she NEEDS that extra power, for the love of god the brute force trauma of this woman's second blow would probably cause permanent damage. Anyway, love forces those with hatred in their hearts to stand down from a fight (objectively not a bad thing), truth does the truth thing, etc.
These are not neccessarily combat-focused powers, though they are used and intended as such. It's not a stretch to say they could be utlized in a different manner in times of peace. The Demon Realm has probably countless small villages and intellegent species for the King to oversee and keep the peace between. It makes sense for him to have more vassals from that standpoint. Meanwile, the Celestial Realm from what we can tell has fallen into disrepair without the routine care of its people. I'm gonna go ahead and headcanon that the natural phenomenon here is at least as 'extreme' in human terms as the demon realm's, and that effectively managing a system of islands in the sky with probably dozens of intellegent migratory creatures like sky fish, etc. does take some supernatural effort. And that most of the goddess population here is centralized in one main area. Pretty much all nakaba has given us is an implied lack of diversity in the celestial realm (why everyone look like that except for Tarmiel) (it's fine we can make the creatures ourselves). Anyway. A not-double-edged-sword version of the Commandments and the current Graces could be repurposed to aid in civil relations (people), and enviornmental mangement (nature) respectively.
-- - - - - extra! pet theory as to why Elizabeth is an only child - - - -
I have a pet theory for my holy war au that Elizabeth wasn't made like a human child and is, rather, a genetic clone the SD shaped of herself (think shaping a living being out of clay) as well as just one in a succession of rebellious (and very dead) attempts at the perfect daughter. This is why there's only one of her, while Meliodas has a sibling, and why she's older than Meliodas. Until Elizabeth, there was no proof that what the SD and DK wanted could be managed without serious consequences. The SD learned that just having the one is important for the amount of control she wants over her daughter. She only has so much patience, and the sisters tended to back each other over her. Thank - well, herself - that they were so young. . . all those times. This is why the DK insisted on totally eliminating his children's emotions; he thinks so long as they don't care for one another, and don't even think to, he can manage as many as he wishes. Otherwise, he thinks the SD is a loon who failed like four times in succession, and refuses to acknowledge that he specifically waited for her to succeed, "learning" from her mistakes, before having his own children.

I’m super interested in the relationship between Merlin and Elizabeth, and how Meliodas fit into it all as well. I had some dialogue playing around in my head that wouldn’t leave me be, so wrote this drabble. I’m not sure what to do with it, I don’t even have a title to publish it anywhere, so I figured I’d post it here and get some feedback. Maybe I’ll turn it into something longer.
Anyway, this takes place three years after Meliodas and Elizabeth came to Liones. Baltra has just had his vision regarding the Ten Commandments and Merlin has arrived with her plans for the Seven Deadly Sins. I have messed with the canon timeline a bit to be able to squeeze this scene in, and then proceeded to drop unasked-for head canons regarding the Sins. Little Ellie fluff ahead, along with an uncomfortable Merlin.
Meliodas watched as Merlin read from the parchment in her hand, a beautifully carved pen taking even more notes on their meeting on another scroll on the table. The pen made a faint scratching sound as it travelled across the parchment completely on its own, and once in a while he would stretch up a bit on his elbows to see what exactly was being recorded of the conversation.
Yellow eyes met his when he glanced up, shrugging a bit sheepishly when he took his seat again. The mage he knew better than probably anyone and yet was still such a mystery sat across from the little table that had been brought in for the king to take his tea when their meeting went longer than anticipated. Of course, the king had called him and Zaratras to the throne room to describe his latest vision, and had probably expected that to be that. None of them expected Merlin to stroll in with the mystery already solved.
“In order for the Seven Deadly Sins to have the most effective power, they must be bound with magic that rivals that of the Commandments. Meliodas, can you give us your thoughts?”
His name snapped his attention back to the conversation, and he looked around at the others as he cleared his throat. “What sort of thoughts?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.
Her smile irked him as much as it always had. How many times had she smirked at him like that, after asking a question she already had the answer to?
“The Ten Commandments,” she replied. “What can you tell us?”
Meliodas looked over at Zaratras and Baltra, whose eyes were trained on him. What is she playing at? he wondered. Casually he leaned back in his chair and put his hands behind his head. “Not much. They sounded pretty nasty. The Ten Commandments were the worst of them.” He peeked over at Merlin under his bangs. “Why, what do you know about them?”
Instead of answering, she raised her cup to her lips and took a sip. Meliodas could feel Zaratras shift in his seat, but the blonde only rolled his eyes. It had been about two hundred years since they had seen one another, give or take, and the differences were nowhere near as startling as the similarities. This isn’t the first time he had seen this game of hers.
Merlin smiled at the king. “If my information is correct, and I’m sure it is, the Ten Commandments were bound to one another through the Demon King’s own magic. That magic sealed them as a group, compelling them to work with one another, balancing their power to keep from fighting or from disobeying.”
“It makes sense,” the Grand Master agreed. “It follows what the Druids know. They say there was a mark that tethered them to the Demon King.”
Nodding, the mage continued, “Yes, the mark of the demon is a well-documented phenomenon. Those who are born of the demon race have the mark of their lineage; for others, who join the ranks through other means, they can be gifted a mark with great power.” Her eyes traveled to Meliodas, who quickly busied himself in scooping sugar into his cup. “The Ten Commandments were held to their binding through these physical marks.”
“Too bad we don’t have something like that now!” Meliodas laughed. His cup now halfway filled with sugar, he tipped the teapot to pour the steaming liquid inside. “This is sure to be a rowdy bunch, so some marks would sure come in useful!”
The small laugh she gave made him freeze. He knew what that laugh meant. “Actually, that’s exactly what I had in mind.”
Damn. As he listened to the others talk, he could feel a bit of heat on his neck. Another mark, binding him to another force? He knew that the king’s power was unmistakable, and that if he said the Ten Commandments would come to Liones, then that’s exactly what would happen. He also knew that forming this group was their best and only shot to stop them. But this ritual sat a little too close to home for his taste.
“You’re not suggesting demon magic?” Baltra inquired suspiciously.
“Of course not!” she laughed in response. “No, quite the opposite. We will get to choose our marks, and agree to the rules instead of being compelled. They will serve as reminders, not shackles. Our actions and our hearts will remain our own.”
Zaratras and Baltra murmured their agreement, leaning in to speak with one another. Meliodas did not say a word, simply sipping his drink and feeling the yellow eyes on him again. “What?” he finally asked, unable to take the waiting any longer.
“You haven’t said much,” she remarked.
“Wouldn’t want to interrupt,” he replied.
Merlin leaned a bit closer, trying to catch his eye. “This will work,” she said quietly.
He opened his mouth to respond, but a squeal interrupted them. All four heads turned as a small one covered in silver hair hurried to the table. Baltra leaned down and picked up the girl, who gave a cheer as he planted a kiss on her cheek. Meliodas could not help but grin to see the little princess, his princess, dressed in a simple but elegant frock and her hair in a long braid down her back.
“I’m sorry, Your Grace, I didn’t realize you had company.” The nurse stood awkwardly at the doorway, holding on tightly to the two older girls’ hands. But Baltra just grinned and waved them over. “Anytime, anytime! I told you that before. Girls, come say hello to the Grand Master.”
Margaret and Veronica walked over and gave practiced curtseys to the Great Holy Knight, who stood and gave a bow of his own; however, Meliodas did not see any of that, because little Elizabeth had spotted him at the table. With another yelp she shimmied down from the king’s lap and flew into his, her small arms going around his neck as he lifted the girl up. “Sir Mel! Sir Mel!” she cried.
He chuckled and gave her a squeeze in return, patting her back. “Hey there, bug. You being good?”
“Did you come to see me?” the girl asked, leaning back to study his expression.
“Of course I did,” he answered.
“Look! I have Sir Bear!” Elizabeth held up her stuffed bear, that he had given her nearly two years ago and she was rarely without these days. Positioning the toy in front of her face, she wiggled the bear and said in a low, gravelly voice, “Quack! Quack!”
Meliodas could not help the laugh that popped out. “Sir Bear, what are you doing? Bears don’t quack! That’s ducks, I think.”
“But I want to be a duck,” the bear answered in the same deep voice, punctuated by a giggle.
“Well as long as you aren’t kissing the princess then that’s okay,” he replied, shaking the bear’s paw, and Elizabeth squealed. “No kissing!” she cried, flopping over to the side. Meliodas held onto her easily, but then the princess suddenly righted herself. “Who’s that?” she blurted out, pointing across the table.
Meliodas looked at Merlin and was hit with a bolt of surprise. He swallowed nervously to see her expression, one he was unfamiliar with on her features. Of all the years he had known her, known her before, the things they had done and shared and gone through together and in spite of each other, never had he seen such abject horror on her face.
Merlin seemed to realize they were both looking at her, and cleared her throat nervously. “That’s my friend,” Meliodas answered. “Her name is Lady Merlin.”
“Lady Merlin?” Elizabeth repeated, making him snort. The girl always repeated what he said.
The mage cleared her throat again, leaning over the table a bit. But Meliodas saw that while she was able to set her expression back to its normal passivity, she was unable to hide the shock that still lingered in her eyes. “Your Highness,” she stammered out. “It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
“Highneess!” Elizabeth exclaimed, pronouncing it like high-knees. “I’m not Highnees, I’m Elizabeth!”
Then, the girl grabbed Meliodas by the face and pulled him closer. “Sir Mel,” she whispered loudly in his ear.
“Yes?” he whispered back.
“She said hiney.”
Meliodas turned sharply to look at the girl, whose blue eyes were wide in surprise and a smile on her lips. She looked about as surprised as he felt, and he burst into laughter. “Not hiney. She said Highness, you ding dong.”
“I’m not a ding dong!” she laughed, kicking her legs a bit. “I’m Elizabeth!”
“Nuh uh,” he teased. “You’re Her Royal Hiney, Princess Ding Dong.”
“Noooooo!” Elizabeth squealed, throwing her body backwards in a dramatic fashion. Meliodas caught her easily, and a moment later the nanny was there, collecting the top half of her.
“No! I want Sir Mel!” the princess insisted, hugging him tightly again and all seriousness now.
He gave her a kiss on the forehead. “Count to twenty and I’ll come find you,” he said. “Can you count to twenty?”
“Yes!” she exclaimed. Then Elizabeth was off his lap in a flash and running to catch up with her sisters, the grateful nanny giving an abbreviated curtsey before following the girls.
When Meliodas looked back at Merlin, he noted that she looked… paler. “Your daughters are lovely,” Zaratras remarked. “They are a credit to you and the queen.”
“Yes,” Merlin agreed smoothly. “Beautiful girls.”
The king beamed as Meliodas eyed his friend suspiciously, wondering what she was actually thinking. He knew better than to believe her polite words and indifferent demeanor.
The talk returned to the Seven Deadly Sins as Baltra called for a plan. Merlin’s cool exterior was replaced completely now as she spoke of the others. “I can retrieve the prince and the unknown one,” she added. “If the Captain would be so kind as to retrieve the fairy, the giant, and the human.”
“Captain?” he coughed into his teacup. “Are you serious?”
“You are the strongest,” Zaratras agreed. “And the most trusted knight in the kingdom. Not that we don’t trust you, my good lady!” he hurried on. “It’s just that we so recently made your acquaintance.”
Merlin laughed, the sound like a magic charm. “Of course. I would be a terrible leader anyway.” Zaratras sank back in relief as she looked over at Meliodas. “You’re the only one fit for the position.”
He cleared his throat, trying to seem as unfazed by this as they expected him to be. “Fine then,” agreed Meliodas. “But as long as no one is binding themselves to me. And I want to set some rules down as well.”
With that decided, the group dispersed, both the king and the Grand Master having pressing business to attend. Merlin tried to take her leave, but Meliodas caught up with her easily. “Hey,” he called, stepping in front of her to stop her retreat. “What happened to you back there?”
Merlin folded her arms and huffed out a laugh. “I don’t suppose there’s any sense lying to you and saying I don’t know what you mean.”
“Definitely not.”
The mage nodded. “I’ve never seen her like… that.”
Meliodas pressed his mouth into a thin line. “She’s doing well here. Extremely well. She is very loved, she has absolutely everything.”
“Yes, I know.” Merlin looked away then, her eyes travelling along the wall hanging next to them. “You did well to bring her here. Liones will be a safe place.”
“If we can stop the Commandments,” he muttered. Then he cocked his head a bit as the corner of his mouth lifted. “I’ll need to go and find Elizabeth, so I can tell her I’m leaving for a bit. She is very astute to when I’m not around. Would you like to come and—”
“No, no, that’s all right.” Merlin swallowed visibly, her eyes closing briefly. “I know you must find me foolish, but seeing her like that—well, I don’t think I can.”
Meliodas sighed. Merlin had been there for a handful of them, coming in and out of their lives as unexpectedly as this time. But of the dozen or so times that Meliodas had known Elizabeth her entire life, Merlin had never been there. “It’s fine,” he assured her. “Probably for the best, anyway. Even though she is only three, it’s possible that her memories could start to stir. There was one that was… very young.”
“I see. It’s for the best then.” There was an awkward silence for a moment before Merlin looked at him again. “I suppose I should have been there, more often. You’ve shouldered this yourself all these years.”
“It’s my curse,” insisted Meliodas quietly. “You have no blame or role in this.”
“All the same, for Elizabeth, I would…” Merlin shook her head. “No sense in lingering in the past. We have a job to do now. You know more than anyone why we cannot fail.”
With that she turned on her heel and walked away, disappearing from the hall in a small flash a moment later. Meliodas stayed for another minute, looking at the place where Merlin had stood. It was the most emotion he had seen from the mage since the first time they had found one another again. In the years since, their relationship was a favor here or there, some attempts at finding a loophole in the curse, a bit of drinking and reminiscing. She had been present for three of the deaths, and had met about a twenty Elizabeths altogether, even though Meliodas had encountered her more often that that.
He laughed to think of her parting words: No sense in living in the past. It’s all he had been doing for three thousand years. It had never really occurred to him to wonder what Merlin was thinking about all this. He had supposed that the curse was a great curiosity to her, and nothing more. She had never been so shaken by an Elizabeth: sad, yes, or angry, or determined. But he had never seen this reaction, this mix of dismay and uneasiness.
Merlin was right, however: there was work to be done. So he decided to take her suggestion and move forward. But first, he had to get a goodbye from his princess.

Melizabeth number 5
“Areyou drunk?”
Elizabethwas never expecting to ever see Meliodas drunk, at least in person. She’d seena hint of what he’d be like if he got drunk when Zaratras had guided her andHawk through Meliodas’ memories—but nothing she’d seen then really hinted atwhat she was looking at right now.
“Heythere, pretty lady,” Meliodas said with a lazy grin, his eyes lidded and cheeksa little too flushed. He leaned back, one palm on the table behind him and theother hand formed into a finger gun, and winked one green eye. “What’s a womanas fine as you doing in a dump like this?”
Elizabethstared at Meliodas with a blank, round-eyed expression. Then, as Meliodaswinked at her again and clicked his tongue against his teeth, her brows drewdown and made her expression flat.
Shehad to ask. “Sir Meliodas, are you drunk?”
Meliodasblinked round eyes for a beat, and then his expression quickly morphed fromseductive to absolutely offended.
“Madam,h-how even dare you?” He said, placing hand over his chest, like Elizabeth justwrecked his entire life, and began leaning his other arm against the table. “Me,a drunk? In front of a lady? I would never, ever, absolutely ever—motherfucker!”
Elizabeth cringed as she watched his elbowdefinitely not land on the wooden table, causing Meliodas to stumble back andfall on his back, the table tipping onto its side along with him. Meliodas nowlay prone on the floor, clutching his elbow and groaning low in his throat. Shewatched him and then walked slowly over to him, her heart thumping with worryand...well, something else.
Whenshe was close enough, Elizabeth crouched next to him and asked, “U-um, SirMeliodas? Are you alright?”
“...Ow,”he muttered as he sat up. Meliodas opened his eyes and smiled at Elizabeth, still very drunk. “Pretty damn smooth, ain’t I?”
Itwas at this moment that, despite herself, Elizabeth finally snorted. As hermouth spread into a wide grin, giggles bubbling out of her before she couldstop, Elizabeth just shook her head. When she found it in her to speak, shegave Meliodas a shrewd look, an eyebrow quirked.
“Meliodas, you are something right now, and it is definitely not smooth.”
Meliodaspursed his lips into a definite not-pout, his brows drawn down. Then with a huffhe turned away and muttered, “Well, the hell with you too, Ellie.”
Elizabethgiggled again and shook her head. Then she leaned over and gave him a sweetkiss on the cheek. Meliodas melted at the contact, his mouth spreading into adopey grin, his eyes glazing over—a gaze that Elizabeth smiled softly into, while running a hand through his hair.
“I’mgetting you water, and maybe bread,” she said. Then she glanced around thetavern, seeing the rest of her friends (even Merlin and Hawk) passed out fromthat weird, weird mead they’d foundearlier that day, and Elizabeth winced as she added, “And maybe some foreveryone else too...”
Meliodasdidn’t seem to hear her, still leaning into the fingers stroking his scalp ashe said unconsciously, “I love you too.”
Elizabethfaltered, a hot flush rising to her cheeks, and she rolled her eyes up to senda pleading look to the heavens. This was going to be a long night.

Just in case anyone ever wonders what the frick-frack I mean when I say I’m at X point in writing a fic, here’s a sketch of my writing process:
Drafting Phase: I narrate the whole thing, not detailing precisely how something happens unless the inspiration strikes, but setting up a map / game plan for my writing to follow.
First Draft: Word vomit. Usually very ugly, in my opinion, and where most of my funny preview snippets are taken from.
Second Draft: Scrap the entire first draft and rearrange everything in it; use the same ideas, scenes, and often the same dialogue, but reordered and structured better. I tend to skip this step for oneshots and individual chapters.
Revision Draft: Comb through the previous draft and edit heavily, modifying sentences and cropping out all my unnecessary words. I’ll often do this several times over the course of a couple days.
Beta Draft: The revision draft is passed to a beta reader, and I go through it again with their critique and commentary in mind.
Final Draft: I set the piece aside for at least 24 hours, then return to it with fresh eyes and read through once more. After correcting any remaining typos and tweaking punctuation or word choice here and there, it’s ready to publish!
