Our Padawan
Pairing: Anakin Skywalker x fem!Jedi!reader
A/N: this has been in the back of my mind for so long, I'm so glad I'm finally writing this down 😃😃 I love you all and hope you're happy and healthy
Warnings: fluff, family dynamic, platonic!Ahsoka x reader, Anakin being the best boyfriend ever
Summary: Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano takes a big risk during a mission: fighting General Grievous on her own. Her Masters, Anakin and Y/N, are ready to protect her from every and any danger; when they get her to safety, Anakin is relieved, but Y/N's fear of losing the young girl gets in the way of being glad that Ahsoka didn't get hurt.
Our Padawan II // Our Padawan III

☆☆☆
"They sent the child to destroy my station? The Republic must be running out of Jedi!"
Ahsoka shifted her stance to defensive as she prepared her lightsaber.
To be truthful, this wasn't supposed to be a mission, but Anakin's "do as I say, not as I do" teaching strategy didn't seem to have the best results, and more often than not it ended up in the young Padawan doing exactly as he did.
And now she was facing Grievous nearly on her own, only accompanied by her fellow soldiers.
"You must be General Grievous."
The cyborg cackled exaggerately.
"He's just another tinny, boys. Let's scrap him like the rest." She sassed, lunging forward with her green lightsaber.
Grievous quickly blocked the blow and managed to shove her off. She hit the ground with a pained groan and looked up as the Clones shot at him. He deflected all the blaster shots, killing one of them and slashing two others with his lightsaber. He towered over Rex, who was sprawled out on the ground, and raised his weapon over his head. Ahsoka's eyes widened and she leapt in front of her friend, blocking the General's weapon with her own.
"Sorry to interrupt your playtime, grumpy, but wouldn't you prefer a challenge?"
"That wouldn't be you." As Grievous ignited a second lightsaber, she cringed internally.
Maybe she shouldn't have said that.
...
"Where is the fight you promised me, youngling?"
She was definitely getting in trouble for this.
Y/N and Anakin would kill her. She knew they'd be furious with her for doing this, but there was no turning back now.
She hid behind one of the metal shelves in the storage room, looking out for a way to escape. She used the Force to knock an item down on the other side of the room to distract Grievous, then made for sneaking out.
As if on cue, her commlink beeped. Damn it. She cupped her hand over it to silence the noise before answering. "Ahsoka, it's me, Rex. There are only two of us left. Should we abort the mission?"
"No, complete the mission. Set the charges and rendezvous at the landing bay." She replied as quietly as she could.
Ahsoka cut him off as he tried to protest. "That's an order, Rex. I'll keep the General busy. Ahsoka, out."
She turned off her commlink and silently crawled through the shelves as Grievous' gruff voice rang out again.
"Come here, child, I'm looking for you. So far you have failed to impress me."
The R3 unit found her as she backed up against the wall, flattening her body over the cold metal. "Goldie, over here." To her surprise, the droid shone a light on her, revealing her location. "Goldie, no!"
She gasped as the cyborg pulled the commlink off her wrist and destroyed it, making her miss the message Rex was about to send. "Your friends won't help you. You're stuck with me." His figure towering over her was certainly intimidating, but she slipped through a shelf and away from the General as fast as she could.
She climbed up one of the shelves and watched as Grievous asked Goldie for the report. "That stubby little backstabber." She whispered, feeling betrayed.
"Skywalker has come for his R2 unit?" He chortled. "Go and make sure they do not escape."
A sting of fear pierced Ahsoka's heart. Oh, no.
...
Y/N's brows knitted together as her commlink beeped. Anakin turned to give her a look of confusion, wordlessly asking her a question. "It's Rex."
Anakin frowned, wondering what was going on.
She immediately answered the call. "Rex? What's wrong?"
"We ran into Grievous."
"Are you all right?"
"Yes. Fives and I survived."
"Only you two? Where are the others?"
"Three of us were shot down... and Grievous is going after Ahsoka."
"Ahsoka?!" The two said at the same time, worry lacing their voices.
"Y/N, out." She said and ended the call, beginning to walk away.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Anakin hollered, running to block her way. "Where you going, tiger?"
"Where do you think? To save our Padawan's ass!" She snapped, then regretted it as she looked at his face. "I'm sorry, Ani. But we need to move now."
"Come on." He said, trying to give her a comforting smile.
...
Ahsoka climbed down and used her lightsaber to illuminate her surroundings as she peeked around the corner. She then turned it off and relaxed her tense posture slightly, but it didn't last long as Grievous grabbed her by the throat in a second, casting her lightsaber aside.
Her eyes widened in fear as Grievous towered over her, grabbing his weapon.
"Another lightsaber to add to my collection." He said as he ignited it and held it up near her face. "My R3 unit has dropped your precious Masters. When I'm finished with you, they're next." She strained her arm out to try to pry the lightsaber from his grip with the Force, failing. She was tired and her breath was running out.
"That was it?" He cackled. "Do it again. Come on." Ahsoka closed her eyes, reaching out to the Force. The weapon was grabbed from his hand successfully, but not by her. Grievous made a confused noise as he dropped the girl to the ground.
Y/N gripped the weapon tightly as she shoved Grievous away from Ahsoka: she blocked all his blows before successfully tripping the cyborg and hovering over him, her lightsaber at his neck. Ahsoka's eyes widened in shock and surprise as she watched her Master fight, with Anakin standing in front of the Padawan to protect her as she handled the fight, glaring daggers at Grievous while shielding Ahsoka with his body.
"If you ever come near our Padawan again, I swear to the Maker I will rip your teeny face off your teeny skull." Y/N growled, leaning the lightsaber closer to his throat.
"Oh, she's-she's under both of your training..? I didn't know that!" He excused himself meekly, stumbling over his words.
"Leave!" Anakin snapped. That was all it took to send him running away. "Snips, thank the stars you're all right!"
He knelt down in front of her to hug her tightly. He could feel the relief flooding him like a tidal wave as the young girl nestled into his embrace. "Are you hurt?"
She shook her head in response, raising her head to look at Y/N. "Masters, I-"
She silenced her with a glare. "You nearly got yourself killed."
"I... I'm sorry..." she said quietly, looking at her feet in guilt.
"Let's go back to the ship."
Y/N walked on ahead as Anakin looked down at his Padawan with a pout, knowing the impact the scare had on his lover.
Her mind was running a thousand miles an hour. If they had gotten there a few seconds later, Ahsoka would have been killed. The mental image was crystal clear: her limp body in her arms, her blood staining her fingers, Anakin's bloodstained hands and arms wrapping around her to comfort her as sobs racked her body-
"Stardust? You all right?" As if he knew whenever she was getting into her own head too much, Anakin's soft voice pulled her from her thoughts. When she clutched onto him for dear life, he swept an arm under her legs and picked her up bridal style, kissing her head before walking away. "Wait here, Snips."
He carried her into another room and set her down on the ground, pulling her onto his lap as she broke down in tears, hyperventilating as she sobbed in his shoulder. "I'm sorry, Ani..."
"Hey, you have nothing to apologise for, love," he soothed, massaging her scalp gently. "Tell me, what are you afraid of?"
She took a moment to regain her breath before speaking. "What if one day we don't get there in time? Just the thought of finding her makes me tremble..." her voice shook. "I love that girl, all right? I love her like a daughter and I can't lose her, Ani... not to this..."
Anakin's heart broke at the words: he already crumbled whenever he saw her cry, but hearing her speak those words in a desperate, scared tone made him want to take her in his arms and kiss all her pain away.
"I know, my love, I know," he hushed, nuzzling his nose into her hair. "Listen, I love her, too, and I certainly don't want to lose her... but she's not a child anymore. She's making her own decisions and learning from them. I know you feel like you need to yell at her until she promises to never do it again, but we need to stop babying her."
"Fine."
...
As they landed on Naboo, Y/N walked out the door first, not looking back as Ahsoka looked at Anakin in guilt. He responded with a sympathetic look, then walked up behind his lover to give her a back hug. She relaxed slightly as she melted into his arms, letting a few tears slide down her face again. He seemed to notice because she felt him kiss her shoulder and then lean closer to kiss the tears off her cheeks.
"It's alright now, my love. She's safe." Anakin whispered in her ear.
She shook her head, trying to push the lingering fear away. "Ahsoka."
The girl took slow, sad steps towards them, looking down at her feet to avoid catching their angry looks. She didn't know whether her Masters had a fight or not, but she was sure they were going to be mad.
"Ahsoka, what were you thinking?" Anakin asked when she stopped in front of them.
"You could have been killed! And what's worse, you put Rex and Fives in danger!" She continued, trying to keep her composure. "Why did you do that?"
"I... I was just trying to be brave like you guys..." she whimpered.
"Anakin and I are only brave when we have to be." Y/N said, her face softening as she looked at her.
"Snips, being brave doesn't mean you go looking for trouble." He added.
"But you guys aren't scared of anything." She said, looking up at us.
"We're scared of lots of things. And we also were today." Anakin spoke.
"You were?"
She hummed in response, tipping her chin upwards to look her in the eyes. "We thought we were going to lose you. We care about you very much, Ahsoka. And if something were to happen to you, I..." She trailed off, her eyes glossing over with tears. "I honestly don't know what I'd do with myself."
Ahsoka walked closer to her and wrapped her arms tightly around her waist, and Y/N sighed as she hugged her back. "I'm sorry I made you feel this way, and I care about you guys, too. I won't do it again."
Her heart swelled at the words and Anakin walked closer to hug both of then, squishing Ahsoka between them. She was surprised to see how calm they were, and honestly she was glad. "Thank you. That's very mature of you."
"Now go back inside, Snips. It's getting cold." He said, chuckling.
"Okay. Good night." She said as she pulled away and walked back inside.
"Eat something before you go to bed!" Y/N called out.
Anakin smiled at her caring attitude and wrapped his arms around his girlfriend once again. She finally smiled in content and leaned into his embrace with a sigh. "You handled that really well. I'm proud of you, my love."
"Thanks." She chuckled and turned around to kiss his lips softly. "I just- I didn't know I loved her that much..."
"Neither did I. But now we have her promise. That only leaves overcoming your fears, doesn't it?" He asked, smiling softly as his blue eyes looked deeply into hers.
"You're right." She replied and pressed their foreheads together, enjoying the moment of intimacy. Because of the Jedi Code, they were forced to avoid public displays of affection, so whenever they could get a minute to just be together, basking in each other's presence in a way they were forbidden to otherwise, they left all cares behind.
"Anakin?"
"Hmm?"
She looked up at him with her big doe eyes, flooding with love and admiration for him. "Thank you for being so supportive."
He smiled, then leaned down to kiss her shoulder. "Don't thank me, my love." Then he pressed his lips with hers in a slow and passionate French kiss. It was when Y/N let out a low moan that he decided to pull away.
"My love, we can't do this right now."
"I know." She mumbled grumpily, making him giggle.
"I promise that'll be the first thing we do when we get home." He whispered sultrily in her ear, sending a shiver down her spine.
"I love you, Ani."
"I love you too, stardust."

I've said this so many times but I really need to emphasize that Ahsoka is a bitch. She just is. I am actually a huge advocate for her being a bitch. I think she should be bitchier actually.
I am so fucking glad that they aren't trying to make her all calm and proper Jedi master in her own series. Ahsoka has had a hard fucking life. The most stable and supported she'd been since she was fucking 14 has been in the middle of a fucking warzone.
Ahsoka has had next to no one for so long, there's no way she just seamlessly transitions into relying on other people again.
I love her being unable to be emotionally vulnerable with people. Literally turning away from Hera any time she tries to connect with her.
Being totally exasperated with a padawan that's not perfect soldier.
Or her only just now allowing herself to make a home on a ship because that's the most stable living situation she's had for most of her life. Ahsoka who can't make a 'home' on a planet.
Ahsoka who cares deeply for people but only shows it by taking their burdens away from them and leaving them behind.
Ahsoka who's still fighting a war. Whose never stopped even for a moment.
Ahsoka who constantly criticises and critiques those around her but would give anything to protect them.
Ahsoka who fights like ten jedi but doesn't bother to kill the baby sith anymore because it perpetuates a cycle of murder.
Ahsoka who teeters the edge of comforting and insulting but only because she's trying so hard not to be mean.
Ahsoka who was raised by soldiers and Obi-wan's fucking sass, and Anakin that never gave out compliments.

Meeting Obi-Wan and Anakin for the first time, one might think they've got it all figured out.
Anakin Skywalker - Hero with no fear - the youngest Jedi General in the GAR, cocky and arrogant, sure of himself. One of the best pilots in the Order, a brilliant mechanic and a skilled warrior. He sure means trouble for his enemies and friends alike.
Obi-Wan Kenobi - the famed Negotiator - the first to defeat a Sith in a one-on-one battle in a millennium while not even being a Knight, he radiates calmness and quiet confidence, that assures all around him that nothing will go wrong with him in charge.
And obviously, Obi-Wan is the steady anchor to Anakin's wildness.
Most often, this is the impression that this famous pair gives to all who know them for no longer than thirty minutes of some fancy meeting.
And then something inevitably happens.
And a completely different side of them reveals.
Eloquent and suave Master Obi-Wan, who always looks collected and put together, who people think will give a look of disapproval to anyone who as much as implies something impolite, this Jedi Master - swears worse than a Spicer during a streak of bad luck in sabback.
And his shameless apprentice - the one who sasses Sith and Separatists alike, the one who is not afraid to dive head first into the thick of a battle - blushes every time, and scolds Obi-Wan in a high embarrassed voice.
When Cody first witnessed such a scene, he thought he was hallucinating. There is no way his dignified and ever-polite General will ever utter a phrase like 'brainless bantha-kriffing moron' into General Kleeve's face before hitting him square in the jaw.
It can't be that Obi-Wan will toss his lightsaber towards Cody and throw himself into hand-to-hand combat. And be a street fighter to boot! He even bites!
For Rex, he thought it was some convoluted plan to mislead the Separatists.
Because it's impossible for his General to cast a look of such indignation when he hears his Master mutter curses under his breath after their squad got caught up in an ambush.
Rex didn't even know Anakin's ears could flush such a vivid red color. Or that he blushes down his neck.
He also didn't expect him to be such a lightweight. Anakin literally gets drunk just by getting a wiff of something vaguely alcoholic. Rex lost count of how many times he had to drag Anakin back into his quarters after some kind of diplomatic mission. This was not something the Longnecks had trained them for. Rex definitely hadn't been prepared for it.
Or to see General Kenobi drink twelve of his brothers under the table without even batting an eye. While wearing Force blocking cuffs!
It was a little disturbing. But also weirdly soothing.
The Jedi have always been somewhat separated from the rest of the Galaxy. Their powers and abilities were frightening, making all around forget that they were also just people, that they had feelings and fears.
But watching an outraged Anakin chastise Obi-Wan after yet another tough battle helped to remember that.
And also made Cody and Rex's pockets fuller.
After all, there was no way Master Kenobi will ever swear, or Anakin Skywalker will ever proclaim his love to his droid after only one sip of moonshine.
Absolutely no way.

There Under the Surface
Pairing: Anakin x reader
Summary: An assignment sends you to spy on an old friend with Anakin. Though Anakin is quick to see the obvious feelings this friend still harbors for you. Anakin has never been good at controlling his emotions but for the good of the mission he is forced to swallow his jealousy to protect you and get what information from this old friend that he can.
Warnings: Jealousy, some angst, maybe one swear word
Word count: 7.5K (sorry not sorry!)
A/N: Written purely because I wanted a jealous Anakin but let me know what you think! Love you all!!
Tumblr media
Your saber made a satisfying, familiar humming sound in your ears as you raised in threateningly, unable to fight a very unthreatening smirk from your face as you watched Anakin make a goofy grin back at you.
“I mean I don’t know why you even bother” He sassed, bending down into a fighting stance “we both know how this is going to end”
“With your back on the floor” You were quick to respond “mark my words Skywalker”
He only chuckled in response, giving you little time to prepare before charging quickly.
Luckily you needed none.
You effortlessly brought your saber up to meet his, sending your friend a wink as your sabers met between the two of you before raising your leg up to kick him back, Anakin letting you as he staggered backwards. The two of you had done this enough times to know how this would start.
“Always the first to rush in” You teased, swinging your blade effortlessly in a circle as you had seen Anakin’s master Obi-wan do before “so predictable”
“Why mess with what works” He responded with a smirk before once again charging.
Without even thinking about it you spun on the spot, letting Anakin’s saber blade sail past you as you brought yours up to strike.
Anakin, however, saw this coming, bringing his up to block. What you didn’t see coming, however, was Anakin’s foot soon following the blade, making contact with your stomach and pushing you backwards as you had done to him before.
With a surprised grunt you were knocked back several feet, just barely managing to stay standing. Your grip on your lightsaber, however, slipped in response, loosening just enough to allow Anakin to use the force and send it flying from your grasp.
Anakin didn’t bother to pay attention to where your saber was sent, his eyes never leaving your form as he chuckled mockingly “And thus we end our spar as we always do, with you saberless”
You laughed back in response before dropping back into a fighting stance, balling your fists in front of you “bold of you to assume I need a lightsaber to beat you”
Anakin just grinned back, giving you a soft shake of his head before he charged once again.
You did just as Obi-wan had taught you to beat his padawan, waiting until he was close before once again spinning to evade his blade, using your momentum to grab his wrist as he sailed by you and pull it forward, effectively knocking Anakin off balance.
Stumbling forward Anakin sloppily spun around back to face you, giving you just enough time to sweep your leg under his knocking your friend to the ground on his back.
Before he had a chance to catch his breath you had kicked his saber from his grip and squatted down next to him. “I told you to mark my words”
Anakin just laid on his back, chest rising and falling with deep breaths as he seemed to take a moment to process what had just happened “someone’s been taking notes from Obi-wan”
You laughed in response, standing back up and offering Anakin your hand to help him up which he took gladly, neither of you choosing to dwell on the fact that despite him now being on his feet he had yet to let go, or yet to drop your gaze.
That was until you heard a familiar clearing of your masters throat, you and Anakin immediately jumping apart as you stood at attention, greeting your master with a small nod.
“Y/N” She nodded back, greeting both you and Anakin with a similar nod “if you are done embarrassing the skywalker boy we are needed by the Jedi council”
“Of course master” you were quick to respond, making to follow your master as she left the room, spinning just in time to catch Anakin tossing you your saber with a wink.
You caught it easily, sending Anakin a quick grateful look, before completing your spin and wordlessly following your master out of the room, putting a bit of a spring in your step to catch up to her.
The two of you walked side by side in silence for a moment before your master broke it “I needn’t warn you again-“
You cut her off quickly “Anakin and I are just friends master, no more”
She paused briefly with a deep breath, taking a moment to think about what she wanted to say next before continuing “You can see, however, why I worry” she paused again with a sigh “the Jedi code doesn’t allow for attachments and be it a friendship or not I fear what you and padawan Skywalker have veers dangerously close to that line”
Mentally you scolded yourself for letting Anakin’s name slip earlier, straightening your posture subconsciously in response “I am loyal to the Jedi and the Jedi code. I believe what friendship padawan Skywalker and I have does not cross any line and I will make sure to keep it that way”
You saw your master glance at you through the side of her eye before responding “good” though you could tell she wasn’t completely satisfied. Having reached the Jedi council chambers, however, there was little more that could be said on it at the moment.
Instead she paused before the doors and turned towards you, hands coming out and straightening your robes in a calming ritual that had established instils before the two of you entered the chambers. Once satisfied she let her hands rest on your shoulders and allowed her eyes to finally make contact with yours, giving you an encouraging nod and waiting for yours in return before allowing them to drop and the two of you to enter.
As usual the masters all sat in a circle, your master pausing at the outer rim of it prompting you to walk into the center and greet the council with a restrained bow.
“Padawan Y/L/N” master Windu greeted you back with a small nod “we have an assignment for you”
You didn’t respond, instead letting your eyes travel to Obi-wan as he took up speaking next “Do you know a Robb Bolt”
Your eyebrows immediately drew in confusion “I knew a Robb Bolt back on Jakku growing up”
Obi-wan nodded encouragingly letting you know this was the response the council had hoped for before master Yoda spoke up “a member of the banking clan he is now”
You fought the urge to glance back at your master for guidance, unsure of where the council was going with this line of questioning “I have not heard from him since I was a youngling”
“Of course” Obi-wan was quick to respond “we have reason to believe, however, that he may be on the inside of a potential attack on coruscant”
“Robb?” You had forgotten to hide your surprised outburst, forcing yourself to take a moment and recollect before speaking “are you sure?”
“Quite” Master Windu responded curtly, “before we act, however, we want you to make certain”
“You want me to spy on Robb” You asked hesitantly, your eyes naturally drawing to Obi-wan in your confusion.
“We know you haven’t spoken in many years” He was quick to assure you though it did little to that effect “we figured that sending someone he knew, however, would be best.”
You still couldn’t wrap your mind around why they thought Robb would be behind such an attack. Sure you hadn’t seen him since you were young but surely he hadn’t changed that much in those years. “So you’re sending me to Jakku?”
“Under guise as his protection for a coming speech” Master Windu nodded, slightly more at ease now that you had seemed to accept the assignment “Along with padawan Skywalker”
You could only nod in response, not fully trusting your voice as your head swirled with this new information. What had Robb gotten himself mixed up in?
-
You hadn’t even realized your leg was bouncing up and down until Anakin sat next to you on the ship, placing a gentle hand on your knee. “I’m not sure I’ve ever seen you this nervous before”
You let out a breathy chuckle in response, leaning back in your chair trying your best to relax yourself “I haven’t seen Robb since we were kids, what if he doesn’t remember me?”
“Impossible” Anakin’s response came quick and on an exhale, so quiet you weren’t sure you were meant to hear it, before he continued louder “So you and Robb, you were close?”
“Very” you answered with a small smile, remembering your childhood friend fondly “He was the person I discovered I was force sensitive with actually”
Anakin nodded with a small smile, getting himself comfortable, silently asking you to continue.
“We thought if we hid it maybe the council wouldn’t come take me away” you obliged with a somber chuckle “then my parents were killed and I guess it didn’t matter.” You paused briefly, giving you a moment to collect yourself “he convinced his family to take me in afterwards”
Anakin’s brows shot up in surprise “so if the council hadn’t come you’d still be with him”
You just shook your head, that very hypothetical having run through your head many times before “Realistically his parents couldn’t have afforded another mouth to feed, no one in that part could’ve. Who knows where I would’ve ended up” You shrugged, eyes fixed at a point on the floor in front of you “What mattered truly was that I needed a friend and in that moment he was a very good one to me”
You felt Anakin’s hand fall to your shoulder soothingly, giving it a comforting squeeze, and it almost scared you how much you desired to curl into his chest. No more words, no more vulnerability, just Anakin wrapping his arms around you and holding you in that moment.
But you knew you couldn’t.
“Anyways it’s a good think the council came when they did” You broke the silence quickly with a much louder tone “otherwise who else would be there to save your ass all the time”
Anakin chuckled in response and as if sensing what you were doing quickly withdrew his hand, pulling his body further away from you with a deep breath.
And with that the two of you resigned to listening to the groan of the ship as the landing gear engaged, the silence that filled the air not quite uncomfortable but still slightly tense.
You felt the ship touch down and the familiar sound of gears filling the air as the dock was lowered. Anakin chose to break the silence then, standing to his feet with ease and offering a hand to you “Well let’s go see if he remembers you” he teased with a wink.
Gratefully you took the hand and allowed him to pull you up, neither of you acknowledging that he held your hand in his for longer than was necessary, neither of you acknowledging that you gladly let him.
Anakin fell into step naturally behind you, thinking nothing of it until you suddenly stopped, him nearly crashing into your back.
But you had to pause as you made eye contact for the first time in years with your very close friend.
His eyes had not changed one bit from what you remember. Bright, wide, slightly mischievous. The face around them had aged, obviously slightly longer, larger, older, and yet the grin that broke out on it was instantly recognizable. There was no doubt that this was the Robb you knew.
With an almost giddy giggle you continued down the ramp towards him, not hesitating to wrap your arms around his neck as his snaked around your waist, laughing loudly as he immediately lifted you, effortlessly spinning you in a circle only causing you to grip tighter.
So caught up in your reunion neither of you noticed the way Anakin’s posture straighter ever so slightly, his chest puffing out almost imperceptibly, his jaw visibly clenching.
After what had seemed like far too long to Anakin, Robb set you down softly, his hands snaking from where they were on your waist to your shoulders and down your arms quickly, capturing your hands in his as he held you close.
You beamed up at him and Anakin noticed for the first time how well the word beamed seemed to fit your expression. He’d seen dozens of smiles from you, grins, smirks, laughs, and yet never one that lit up your face as much as this one. And it felt like a punch to the gut that it wasn’t directed at him.
“You’ve grown up” You remarked with a chuckle, your eyes dancing around his features.
“As have you” He responded in same “You look good Y/N”
You couldn’t have fought the blush from crawling over your cheeks if you had tired.
The trance shared between the two of you broke suddenly as the sound of a throat clearing tore through the air. Quickly you all but jumped away from Robb, eyes darting guiltily to Anakin standing at attention off to the side.
You missed the way Robb briefly tried to hold on to your hands as you tore them from his grasp, the way his hands hung momentarily in that same position before dropping limply to his sides, his fingers tensing slightly before he allowed them to hang comfortably.
Anakin didn’t.
But still he painted on a smile as you introduced him, following Robb’s lead and shaking his hand in greeting, and pretended not to notice the way Robbs eyes immediately returned to you before he had even dropped Anakin’s hand.
It was going to be a long mission.
-
You dropped your fork to the table as you doubled over in laughter, a hand coming to cover your mouth as you tried to stifle it.
“She still doesn’t trust the fruit” Robb laughed as well, eyes never leaving you as he recounted tales from your childhood and where various people were now.
You gave yourself a moment to calm your laughter, picking back up your fork and putting some food in your mouth “she deserved it”
This sent Robb into a fit of laughter and though he didn’t comment you know he didn’t disagree with you.
Anakin watched the two of you swap stories and laughter as if no time had passed at all. The immediate ease that had taken over you the moment the two of you had touched down was unlike anything Anakin had seen in you before, you seemed so carefree here, so happy, so open. It was as if not a moment had passed since you had left Jakku, as if you had talked to him every day for years.
But of course you hadn’t, you had talked to Anakin just about every day for more years than you had known Robb. So then how come you interacted with Robb in such a way and not with-
He hadn’t noticed how tight the grip on his fork had gotten, hadn’t noticed that Robb had asked him a question until you were calling his name.
The fork toppled from his hand as his gaze snapped up to yours, only then noticing the way the indent the forks handle ached on his palm. “Sorry what?”
He watched your brows draw together in concern as you met his gaze and felt his anger melt inside of him, an effect you uniquely had on him. “Anakin are you okay?”
“Yeah” he brushed it off, dropping his hands to his lap, straightening up slightly “sorry I think I’m just a little tired” he lied poorly, pushing his chair back “if you’ll excuse me I think I’ll had back to our rooms”
“Of course” Robb butted in and immediately he was fighting his anger back down inside of him again.
If nothing else Obi-wan would be proud.
-
You lounged on the couch casually next to Robb with a drink in your hand. You hadn’t felt this relaxed in ages and you were eager to enjoy it.
“So the banking clan huh?”
Robb chuckled in response, taking a sip from his glass with a shrug “couldn’t let you have all the fun”
You chuckled hollowly back “sure, fun”
“You don’t enjoy being a Jedi?” He asked you back with a raised bow.
“I wouldn’t exactly call being shot at regularly fun” You quipped back, mentally gearing up for a conversation you weren’t entirely ready to have.
“The Jedi order though” He prodded gently “do you agree with what they’re doing?”
You sighed softly to yourself, trying your best to balance an answer between the truth and what you thought he would want to hear should the council be right about him.
“We were meant to be peacekeepers” You answered finally “It feels as though we have strayed far away from that path, often choosing to play politics rather than actually help people”
Robb nodded in response a soft “I agree completely” escaping his lips before he took another sip.
And you’d be lying if you said that didn’t make your stomach drop. Nothing you had said was a lie, you had to admit the order had its faults, but to hear Robb speaking out against it even if only to agree with you had you worried.
-
You and Anakin met Robb in the dining room for breakfast the next morning, padding lazily to your chair with Anakin dragging himself behind you, neither of you great morning people.
Robb was already sitting at the table, sipping from a mug with a lazy smile as he greeted you.
“Nice to see you haven’t changed too much Y/N” He teased as you sat “still not a morning person”
Anakin barely tried to stifle his scoff, not paying attention to the confused look you shot him as he reached for food before him.
“And I see you still are” you responded instead of giving Anakin’s noise any more attention.
“I have to be” He responded quickly, pushing a plate of food towards you “I have a meeting to get to across town in a few minutes”
You and Anakin shared a quick confused glance “You should have warned us we could’ve been up earlier”
“Oh no” He chuckled softly, his chair scraping against the floor as he stood up “you don’t need to come with me it will be a short meeting”
You shook your head quickly “we’re not letting you go alone?” it came out as more of a question than anything “Your life could be in danger”
“Could be” He emphasized “Look I respect and appreciate the two of you for what you’re doing but I don’t need a guard to go across town and meet with people I’ve known throughout my professional career”
“You’re not going alone. End of discussion” Anakin all but growled from his seated position at the table, not bothering to give Robb any more of his energy than required.
Robb stuttered slightly “No-I-uh” He looked at you with an almost desperate expression as if asking you for help.
Instead you simply crossed your arms and leaned back in your chair, staring him down.
“Alright fine” He reluctantly agreed with a huff “but you can’t go looking like Jedi”
You looked down at your robe, you brought your cloak as well but he had a point no matter what you still looked like Jedi
“We’ll tail you discreetly no one will ever know we were there” Anakin spoke up with a sigh
“No” Robb was immediately shaking his head “No I can’t risk that with these people.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” The question was past your lips before you could stop it, a heavy accusatory tone in your voice that had even Anakin looking back at you in surprise.
Robb looked taken aback for a moment, eyes connecting with yours as he froze briefly “I-uh-I don’t need them thinking I need a Jedi escort over a little threat”
He seemed to stumble into the right answer, the response not coming out quite smooth enough for your liking. Enough, however, for you to momentarily drop it at least.
“Look if you drop the Jedi look Y/N can come to the meeting with me” Robb said, pointedly looking at Anakin instead of you.
Anakin was on his feet instantly “Absolutely not”
Before you could even get a word in Robb was talking again “Look this is a compromise, you want me to have a bodyguard fine I’ll take Y/N with me”
“She’s not going in alone” Anakin all but yelled back standing his ground.
“So what she’s not a capable enough of a jedi to protect me?” Robb baited Anakin, a small slick smile playing on his lips.
“That’s not what I’m saying and you know it-“
You cut in before anything spiraled any further you were on your feet, a hand on Anakin’s chest pushing him back from the table, putting you between him and Robb “Look I will go with Robb to the meeting Anakin can trail behind in plain clothes so not to arouse suspicious”
“If I’m-“ Anakin started but you quickly whirled on him, a warning hand still placed on his chest.
“Anakin, a word?”
He stared back down at you for a moment before nodding reluctantly, sending one last glare at Robb before leaving the room.
You led him back to your room, shutting the door behind you before laying into him “What are you doing”
He recoiled back in disbelief “What am I doing? What are you doing?”
“Trying to accomplish our mission” you shot back, crossing your arms over your chest “he’s letting me in on his meeting I can figure out what he’s actually up to”
“A member of the separatists wants to get you alone and you don’t see what’s wrong with that?”
You scoffed back “He only might be a separatist we don’t know that”
“That’s not good enough for me” Anakin grunted back, sitting at the end of your bed.
“I trust him” You responded “he’s my friend”
“He wishes he were more” It came out under Anakin’s breath but you nonetheless heard it, seizing onto anything that could explain why Anakin was acting this way.
“Is that what this is about?” You asked him almost in disbelief “You’re worried that what? Whatever feelings you think he has for me will get in the way?”
“I worry yours for him will” The words were out of Anakin’s mouth before he could even think about them, his pent up anger, frustration, and jealousy all rising to the surface in one outburst he knew he would live to regret.
You scoffed in response your own anger bubbling up as you squeezed your arms tighter around your chest “Listen here Anakin because I will only say this once” You seethed “I have no feelings for Robb but even if I did I am not a child incapable of controlling her emotions. I am a Jedi knight and I will be treated as such. Now get out of my room so I can change for this meeting I will be attending whether you like it or not”
A mess of emotions hit Anakin all it once. First a wave of shame and regret at his words, at how deeply they seemed to affect you, he truly never meant to imply you were an incapable Jedi. Next a brief moment of relief, official confirmation that you didn’t share in Robb’s obvious feelings. And that was what he was after right? So why did he still feel so guilty for having asked?
“Anakin out”
You snapped him out of his thoughts, jumping to his feet instinctively “Y/N I-“
You cut him off “No I’m not doing this with you now. I have to get ready now”
Reluctantly Anakin walked out of the door in a stupor, pausing again on the other side of the door “Y/N really I just want to-“
Instead of letting him finish you shut the door in his face.
-
You strolled ahead of Anakin side by side with Robb, Anakin left behind to sulk.
He had messed up. He knew that, he could feel it in every part of him. But somehow still seeing you looking as gorgeous as you did in that flowy dress, strolling calmly on Robb’s arm, it hurt worse.
He was more than likely a separatist, plotting the destruction of the republic and the jedi order as a whole, and you weren’t stupid. You could handle yourself should anything bad happen in this meeting and regardless he was right behind you.
And that was how he was going to get through this, he was going to focus on the mission at hand, just get you through this alive then he could focus on apologizing profusely.
Though he couldn’t pretend watching you walk into the building without so much as a look back at him didn’t hurt.
He paced nervously back and forth down the street from the building, his eyes never leaving the door. Robb had said short meeting but right now to Anakin this was feeling anything but short.
A loud sigh of relief escaped him when he finally saw the door open and you walk out first, Robb and a third man following shortly behind you. The relief, however, was short lived as you immediately started searching for him, your wide panicked eyes not taking long to find and connect with his.
His hand was to his saber immediately, his legs reflexively going into a crouch as he prepared to sprint after you though you quickly called him off with a small shake of your head. He cocked his head to the side in response though you just responded with a quick thumbs up before being led away by Robb with a soft hand on the small of your back.
At the very least you seemed okay and were talking to him and for now that was enough.
-
Anakin met back up with you and Robb back at Robbs house, Robb talking away cheerily clearly not noticing that you had stopped listening long ago, choosing instead to stare blankly at a spot in the corner.
Anakin came up behind you and softly squeezed your shoulder knocking you out of whatever trance you were in. You jumped slightly but calmed once you noticed it was Anakin “Hey you made it back” You interrupted whatever story Robb was telling.
“Yeah” He nodded with a small smile “how was the meeting?”
You looked over to Robb, nodding to him as if the two of you were in on some secret “Meeting went fine, no problems whatsoever”
Anakin eyed you suspiciously though nodded back “Good, looks like we were worried for nothing”
“Yeah well I’d prefer to be worried over nothing rather than the alternative” You sighed “but anyway I’m going to go change back into my clothes” You excused yourself from the two of them, sending Anakin a pointed look before making your way towards the rooms.
Anakin was ready to excuse himself as well to follow you though Robb beat him to it “I have some work to do on my speech” He sighed “I’ll be in my study should you need anything”
Anakin simply nodded appreciatively before making a break towards you as soon as he could, not making It far down the hallway before a hand shot out and pulled him into the nearest room.
You pulled Anakin into the room with wide eyes and his hands were immediately on your shoulders, eyes roaming all over looking for any injuries “what happened are you okay?”
“Yeah yeah I’m fine” you brushed him off with a whisper “Ani…I think the council was right”
Anakin deflated slightly with a sigh, feeling the hurt and betrayal coming off of you in waves “so that is what the meeting was about”
“Not exactly” you shook your head, running an anxious hand through your hair “it was odd in a ‘don’t let the outsider know what we’re really talking about’ sort of way. Like they were trying desperately to talk about the issue while pointedly no talking about it”
Anakin rested his hand briefly on his chin in thought “I don’t think we can go back without any proof”
“Robb got a datapad from the other guy, made a big show of handing it over, my guess is the plans are on it”
Anakin nodded in response “okay we grab the datapad and get out of here. Any idea where it is now?”
You shook your head, starting to pace back and forth “He put it in his pocket when we left but I doubt he’ll keep it there all day”
“He was heading to his study to prep his speech” Anakin supplied “maybe he’ll store it there”
“Okay okay” You seemed to be almost assuring yourself “I’ll distract him after dinner you sneak into the study and search for it”
Anakin’s immediate instinct was to object, and in his mind rightfully so. It wasn’t ridiculous to not want to leave you alone with a separatist bomber, but he pushed it down choosing instead to step forward and grab your nervous fumbling hands. “Y/N are you okay?”
You shook your head, avoiding eye contact “yeah I’m fine”
Anakin instead said nothing, giving your hands a light squeeze, staring down at you until you couldn’t stay quiet any longer “Yeah it’s just-“ you sighed, extracting your hands and sitting on the end of the bed “Robb was like the last good thing from home you know? He was my best friend, he took my in when I had nothing and now he stands for a group trying to kill me” You had quickly started to ramble, the panic and pain building inside you.
Anakin sat wordlessly next to you, wrapping a comforting arm around your shoulder and pulling you into his side. You crashed your head against his chest, finding solace and comfort in his scent as it enveloped you, in the calm steady rise of his chest with each breath. “I’m sorry” you breathed out.
“You have no reason to be” his answer was immediate and silently you thanked him for that moment, for not saying anything but rather just holding you close while you needed it.
And as it turned out in this moment where you thought you had no one else you had Anakin.
-
It wasn’t exactly hard to get Robb alone. The night going similarly to the previous one with Anakin excusing himself after dinner and Robb suggesting drinks on the couch again.
What was difficult was trying to get him to pick any room other than the sitting room. It shared an entrace with Robb’s study, Anakin would be in plain view trying to get in.
Robb, however, wouldn’t be swayed. Insisting the couches were comfortable, the fire warming, the ambiance unmatched. And so you sat with your backs to the door at least and you did your best to keep his eyes on you while Anakin snuck by.
It didn’t take much to accomplish that.
You watched Anakin enter the room silently from the corner of your eye before speaking “So the meeting today-“ you prompted him, taking a cautious sip of your drink logically knowing it was best at the moment to avoid the topic though still feeling the need to push it “it went okay?”
Robb chuckled hollowly in response “You were always too smart for your own good Y/N. So you know that what we discussed wasn’t what we actually met for?”
“I got that impression” You responded with a nod, gaining some confidence in how little he tried to hide it.
Robb stayed silent for a moment, twirling his drink in the cup for a bit before setting it on the table in front of you before turning his whole body towards you “Y/N, if I asked you to go away with me would you?”
You were physically taken aback, expecting just about anything to come out of his mouth but that. “I-what?”
“Think about it” he pushed on, reaching forward to grab your hands “we could go far beyond the republics reach, just the two of us”
You were too stunned to have even tried to pull back “Robb what are you saying?”
“Oh surely you see it” he was getting louder with each word, growing more passionate the more he spoke “the jedi are holding the republic hostage with their war but you and I can escape”
You tried to pull your hand back from him though his clutch only tightened, his desperate gaze never leaving yours as he waited for your answer “We can’t leave” you tried with a nervous chuckle “you’re a part of the banking clan, I’m to be a Jedi master we can’t-“
“I have a ship” he cut you off “right now you and me we get on it and we’re untraceable. I can help you be free from the Jedi order”
“Be free of the Jedi order?” You repeated in disbelief, standing to your feet to try and put distance between the two of you though he simply stood up as well, towering over you.
“Yes you don’t need to stay with them anymore” He continued without pause, his grip on your wrists only tightening.
“Robb please let go” You tried to pull back from him though he just continued talking as if you had said nothing “Robb please you’re hurting me”
“Y/N I have a plan-“ he couldn’t get another word out before a clear gruff voice sounded out from across the room.
“She said to let her go”
The relief that flooded through you was intense as you heard Anakin’s voice, a look more of shock crossing Robb’s face as his gaze snapped to Anakin, finally letting go of your wrists. You stepped back immediately, letting Anakin take control of the situation as he glared at Robb from across the room, from the doorstep of Robb’s study who’s door was now open.
Robb seemed to make the realization just as you did, “My study?”
Anakin didn’t even get a chance to answer before he had turned back to you, his shoulders slumping “you aren’t here just as my protection”
You didn’t bother to answer, his sentence coming out as a statement rather than a question. Though Robb took your silence as answer enough.
A bitter laugh rang through the air as he ran a hand through his hair, looking between you and Anakin in disbelief “You’re here to stop me”
“Robb” You called to him, Anakin taking the opportunity to slowly start making his way around the room towards you “we can’t let you hurt anyone”
“Hurt anyone?” His voice came out loud and angry startling you slightly making Anakin pull his saber off his belt “Y/N we’re at war, people get hurt, that is how this works”
“Bombing the senate?” You asked back, your own anger starting to spark within you “that doesn’t feel like crossing a line to you”
“I do what I must” he answered solemnly “I do what I do for you”
At this you recoiled slightly in surprise “for me?”
“You forget that I know you” he started to approach you again though Anakin was instantly in front of you, saber fully drawn and pointed threateningly in front of him.
“You take one step closer to her and you lose a hand”
All this got Anakin was a glare from Robb before he stepped back dramatically, hands raised slightly in the air in defense, before he addressed you again “I’ve known you since we were kids” he continued “you never wanted to be a Jedi”
“I was a kid” you shot back defensively “what I needed was someone to take care of me”
“I was taking care of you!”
You just shook your head, dropping your voice lower, trying desperately to get Robb to see reason “You were just a kid too. Your family couldn’t afford to keep me too. The Jedi did what was right”
“But I’m not a kid now” He tried, his voice dropping to a more pleading tone “Y/N I can take care of you now”
“I don’t need you to take care of me” You sighed “Robb I’m not going to leave the Jedi order”
“They’ve brainwashed you” he said in an astonished voice, as if this were the only logical conclusion “fine you want to stay among murderers go right ahead but I will still be getting my revenge”
“Yeah not going to happen” Anakin piped up in front of you, still keeping his saber drawn.
“The republic will pay for the lives they have taken” Robb said almost triumpently “the jedi order will pay for their corruption”
“Not sure how you’re going to accomplish that from a jail cell” Anakin’s threat came from an eerily calm voice.
Though in response Robb simply pulled a blaster from within his intricate robes, pointing it directly at Anakin “Oh I will not be going with you”
You could see all of Anakin’s muscles tense as he prepped for a fight, a fight between a lightsaber and a blaster pistol in a room much too small to contain the collateral damage. “Robb don’t be stupid, you don’t have to do this”
“And you don’t have to do this” Robb responded, his expression softening as his gaze switched from Anakin to you “please just come with me”
And you had to admit a part of you then wanted to. Not because you wanted to abandon the jedi order but rather to avoid any shootout, because despite all that he has done Robb was still that kid on Jakku who was there when no one else was and you didn’t want to see him hurt.
Anakin, however, seemed to sense your hesitation and knew exactly what you were thinking “She’s not going with you”
You saw Robb take a moment, his jaw clenching and his knuckles whitening as his grip on the blaster tightened. You could all but see his rage building as his breaths grew deeper and shorter until it all came to the surface, the blaster raising and pointing directly at Anakin as Robb screamed “I wasn’t talking to you!”
Every nerve in your body screamed to reach for your saber but you ignored them, time seeming to almost slow as Robb’s blaster erupted, a red beam rapidly crossing the room headed for Anakin just in front of you. Anakin in turn squared up, ready to deflect the beam no doubt directly back to Robb who didn’t stand a chance.
And you just reacted, no thoughts just instinct, as you reached out with the force pushing Anakin out of the way.
The laser flew right past Anakin and a look of horror took over both of the men’s faces as they tracked its trajectory, something you should have done before reacting.
The beam made direct contact with your shoulder, and you were thrown back by the force of it, the entire world going dark before you even hit the floor.
-
You came to on a med bed on the ship, a low groan escaping your lips as the deep ache in your shoulder was the first thing you registered upon opening your eyes.
“Yeah getting shot will do that to you” Anakin’s unimpressed voice rang out over you.
The bright lights forced you to squint as you tried to push yourself to a sitting position, Anakin reluctantly coming to your side to help only after it became clear you were really struggling with only the one arm to use.
“Hey aren’t you supposed to be nice to the injured” You tried to joke though the chuckle quickly died in your throat as a deep frown crossed Anakin’s face, his arms coming up to cross over his chest.
“Not when the injured did it to themselves” His disappointment was evident and you had to admit it wasn’t completely unfounded.
You had done this to yourself, not only in pushing Anakin out of the way but in not drawing your own lightsaber. Under the threat of a pointed gun you had stayed completely defenseless by choice. Beyond that you had let a known separatist sympathizer get away. A man who actively planned a terrorist attack on the republic senate. A man you had once happily called a best friend who now stood for everything you were against.
Every emotion seemed to his you at once beneath Anakin’s angry expression. Guilt, shame, fear, pain it all came crashing down on your head and you could do nothing to stop the sob from escaping your lips.
Anakin’s anger and disappointment melted on the spot, his arms dropping limply to his sides, which did nothing to help stop more sobs from escaping.
You drew your knees up to your chest, hiding your face in them as you cried, finally letting every pent up emotion from the past few days escape.
Vaguely you felt the bed dip as Anakin sat next to you, taking no real notice as he pulled your torso from your knees and rested it against his, your head naturally going to his chest as you cried into his robes.
He never spoke a word through this process, hugging you tightly into him, a comforting hand running up and down your back as you sobbed, soft kisses occasionally placed onto the top of your head with no comment.
Eventually you started to calm, started to get control of you breathing again, your sobs softening to small hiccups, though you stayed in place in Anakin’s arms, the man not making a move to expel you from them either.
“Ani” You all but whispered, your voice still wobblily from the tears “I am so sorry”
“You have nothing to be sorry for” His answer was quick and spoken with such conviction that a small part of you even believed him.
Still though you shook your head, finally pushing yourself up to a sitting position, letting your gaze meet his “I let him get away, I let myself get hurt, I just-“ You struggled to say the next part, the words lodging in your throat “I couldn’t let it be true, I know we got proof of who he really is but still I couldn’t let him get hurt”
“He was close to you” Anakin nodded in understanding “it’s hard to process that kind of betrayal so quickly”
“You knew it from the beginning” Your voice was hollow and defeated, leaning back on your pillow and fixing your gaze to an empty point across the room “You couldn’t stand him from the moment we touched down and I couldn’t see it. Why couldn’t I see it?”
Anakin was silent for a moment, debating his next words carefully, before grabbing your hand with a deep breath, giving it a comforting squeeze “I didn’t hate him because I thought he was a separatist”
Your head whipped around to catch his gaze in surprise, sending him a confused look, inviting him to continue.
Anakin hesitated, his eyes dancing back and forth between yours. “I hated him because of how close he was to you”
“wh-“ you didn’t even get the word out before Anakin was continuing, leaning back on the bed slightly as his eyes danced around the room only coming back to yours briefly as he spoke.
“The little touches, the hugs, the reminiscing, the inside jokes. I wanted that kind of connection with you” he forced his gaze to return back to you, his tone growing slightly smaller “I still want that to you”
You felt your chest deflate as it all clicked into place. The jealousy, it explained Anakin’s every action for the past few days perfectly, but you couldn’t deal with these feelings now, you couldn’t deal with them ever. You were both Jedi those feelings were expressly against the code. This is exactly what your master had warned you against “Ani don’t”
You tried to turn away though his hand shot out, fingers lightly coming beneath your chin to hold your head in place. “I can’t keep pretending I don’t feel the way I do”
You shook your head softly though didn’t bother to move back, didn’t put too much effort into objecting because truthfully you were too “We can’t”
“We can” He came back earnestly.
“Anakin don’t” You all but pleaded, noticing for the first time just how close your faces were in this moment “Don’t make me choose between you and the order”
“I choose you” His answer was again quick, completely without hesitation, his eyes bouncing back and forth between your own “I will always choose you”
“This is exactly why the code exists” you sighed still not baking away though you knew you should.
“I refuse to believe choosing you makes me a worse Jedi” Anakin objected with a small laugh, the sound as it always did bringing a small, soft smile to your face “I feel nothing but better for having known you”
You could feel the blush creeping up to your cheeks, feel the smile fighting to rise to the surface, feel the words you so desperately wanted to say tingling on your tongue. “We never were ones for rules were we?”
Anakin broke out into a grin, a warm laugh bubbling up from his chest in response as he brought a hand up to cup your cheek, thumb brushing fondly over your skin “that we aren’t . This is our secret then?”
And instead of directly responding you hesitantly brought your face closer to his, enjoying the soft pull of his hand on your cheek as if you couldn’t get there fast enough, until your lips met, softly at first, nothing more than a brief peck as if asking for permission before his hand went to the back of your head pulling you in deeper.
You came back for air with a wide grin and a bubbly laugh, drawing your lip in between your teeth enjoying the subtle spark in Anakin’s eyes as he looked down at you.
“I love you”

I hear a lot of anti-Jedi and pro-Jedi going back and forth on this platform, but I wonder if we're only dealing in absolutes. That's it, everyone on tumblr is a Sith. Confirmed.
But, seriously (I was serious), are the Jedi good? Are they evil? Are they somewhere inbetween? And what is the system they support? Are they being their 'best selves' by the twilight years of the Republic? Am I a jerk? Are they jerks? Are you a jerk? Well... let's look at both sides and canon as it is, and see where it goes.
Should we ignore the problems and implications?
Tumblr media
Dogma: "No! We have orders! We have to go through with this!"
First things first, let's start with negativity, because that's life possibly. There are a number of criticisms which are levelled against the Jedi in the canon. The Star Wars writers didn't always just put scenes and lines in for fun.
Slick: "It's the Jedi who keep my brothers enslaved. We serve at your whim. We do your bidding. I just wanted something more."
The Jedi are accused of slavery in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was created by George Lucas as Executive Producer, along with Dave Filoni and a whole host of writers working in collaboration. When Slick accuses the Jedi of being his and other clones' slave masters, it is never refuted by any of the characters, even Obi-Wan and Anakin who he is speaking to. It's never refused by the narrative at all.
Canonically, the Jedi as citizens and being military generals act as the clones superiors and also masters by proxy in the command chain. Slick's accusation is that the Jedi "keep [his] brothers" enslaved, not that they even necessarily enslaved them in the first place. He is indicating that the Jedi have power and agency, which they do as natborn citizens, but they don't direct it for justice and meaningful change in regards to clone rights.
Tumblr media
Satine Kryze: "I remember a time when Jedi were not Generals, but peacekeepers."
Now, people have argued that the Jedi do help the clones and they are "in charge of [the clones] care", as Master Shaak Ti says during a continuing arguement where her and Nala Se debated on who Tup, Fives and clones in general belonged to as "property". The Jedi could think themselves better caretakers of the clones troopers than natborn officers like Tarkin, although this verges on character speculation. Canonically, we do see evidence of care, such as Shaak Ti advocating for Domino Squad and calling them "living beings" that didn't deserve to be "cast aside", Mace and Plo Koon and other Jedi do show concern for their men's lives.
But, arguably it doesn't account for much when the Jedi are still working in the framework and structures of slavery instead of protesting it. Being kind to clones doesn't mean much when you prop up the meat-grinder of a system that uses them as cannon fodder.
This is exemplified in the show itself.
Ahsoka: "It's every citizen's duty to challenge their leaders, to keep them honest, and hold them accountable if they're not.”
Unjust actors and systems are to be challenged. The Jedi being nice isn't an absolution for their participation in this system, just as a slave master or a deputy slave master being nice in any context doesn't change the fact that they are still in command of slaves getting thrown into the meat grinder every day. If you support an unjust system, you bear responsibility.
And, moreover, despite moments of compassion from Jedi, for people who value life, the Jedi as an organisation still show a concerning ease with clone death as the war progresses. The Citadel Arc is a great example of this. As Clone Trooper Charger falls to his death and collides with a shock mine, Obi-Wan sasses "Well, they know we're here now" as the other clones still are reaching out in horror. Every time a clone dies on that mission, they leave them behind, even Echo (who turns out to still be alive and is captured by the enemy and tortured). However, despite the urgency of the mission, when Jedi Master Even Piell dies, the Jedi pause the mission to give him a funeral and burial even though the enemy is closing in. If there was ever a message that the Jedi value their slave soldiers' lives less, this is it.
Further evidence includes the fact that Jedi Master Pong Krell's casualty numbers were well-known in the military, to point Torrent Company were openly debating them, and yet no other Jedi General had felt the need to propose a military investigation. Additionally, when the Jedi were fed the cover story the inhibitor chips in their men's brain were just designed to make them less aggressive and more docile, there is no evidence they protested this mental violation. Another neglect in a series of many. Taking this into regard, I think the unfortunate implications are clear.
Perhaps the Jedi should find better use for their mind tricks and lightsabers than cutting up droids and planetary militias all while propping up an unjust regime?
Master enablers
Tumblr media
Jedi Master Dooku: "The Jedi blindly serve a corrupt Senate that fails the Republic it represents."
Canonically, the Jedi are deeply flawed as an organisation. They are politically centrist in a way that does not benefit either themselves or the Republic in end, shown to be enablers that uphold the system and law as it is, regardless of how unjust.
How can the Jedi have the high ground when they appease a Senate that supports slavery regardless of how the writers try to downplay it? How can they be morally righteous when they bow down, without much resistance if at all, to such system that uses slave soldiers? Clones die under Jedi command, they work in the Jedi Temple as both soldiers and technicians. The Jedi claim they just can't get involved in changing the system because it's beyond their mandate when what's on their doorstep, what's in their temple, is slavery, slavery that they even benefit from arguably to even maintain their transports and technical systems.
For any person or group in any system, there's a breaking point where things have gone too far, but how much one tolerates up until that point says a lot about their moral character. The Jedi were drafted by the Chancellor (Oh you) and perhaps they thought being 'kind' to the clones when they interacted with them was enough, but it wasn't. And while the Jedi continue to believe in the Republic far beyond acceptable, victims mount.
During the Wrong Jedi Arc, the Jedi Order also show themselves in bad light. It would have been one thing to believe Ahsoka was guilty and leave it at that, yet they practically threw Ahsoka under the bus for politics in reality. Mace kept talking about the politics, essentially showing Jedi PR was a more important factor than Ahsoka's life.
Mace Windu: "I understand your sentiment, Obi-Wan. But, if the council does as you suggest. It could be seen as an act of opposition to the Senate. I'm afraid we have little choice."
Meanwhile, Obi-Wan advocated for Ahsoka briefly, expressing doubts at her guilt, but at best casts a vote in her favour when he knows it won't be enough. Give it to Anakin in this instance, at least he did an actual private investigate to prevent a wrongful conviction instead of sitting back. Like Asajj Ventress said when confronted by Anakin, the Order abandoned Ahsoka and appease a Senate that supports authoritarian policies, kangaroo court trials and a slave army. What a state to die for.
Tumblr media
Ahsoka: “This is why the people have lost faith in the Jedi. I had, too, until I was reminded of what the Order means to people who truly need us.”
How can the Jedi believe in the Republic to the point they were surprised when they got inevitably screwed over? Again, the narrative supports the idea the Jedi have lost their way and become enforcers for the Senate, however fascist and dangerous it has clearly become. You kind of have to have in order to become key leaders of a slave army when you were peacekeepers beforehand. The Republic is failing, but so are the Jedi. They fight the war with the tools they are given, from their lightsabers to their slave soldiers, with no solution or appropriate concern for the legislative catastrophe happening at the heart of the Republic until they realise Palpatine's been in a little long with his executive powers. They enforce laws, unjust systems and follow orders.
Fives: "I'm sorry. I cannot just follow orders when I know they're wrong. Especially when lives are at stake."
Captain Rex: "You will if you support the system we fight for."
Fives: "I do support it. I do! But I am not just another number! None of us are!"
TCW shows us that following rules and regulations when they're immoral is the wrong course of action, yet no matter the signs and warning, the Jedi continue to play into Palpatine's hands with their misguided patriotism as the Republic becomes increasing draconian and despotic. The most problematic factor about the Jedi is that they don't acknowledge the problems and the fact the clones' situation is unacceptable on every ground. They don't acknowledge the clones' situation, they don't acknowledge the Republic is bad or try to think of solutions to that even if they don't work. The situation is complicated, but the Jedi went along with bad options when they should have known what the Republic was by this point. How can the Jedi enforce justice when they enforce the corruption of it?
The Jedi continue to believe in the Republic and their part in he hierarchy when it seems more akin to a hostage situation with slaves in the balance. If they're blind, they're fools. If they knew, they're knowing enablers.
A tight spot
Tumblr media
Obi-Wan Kenobi: "For over a thousand generations, the Jedi knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the old Republic... before the dark times... before the empire."
Now, the flaws in the Jedi are clear, but it's all well and good to critique them. What could the Jedi have done effectively instead? If the Jedi were more keyed in on the Republic's unsalvageable system and decided to be proactive in regards to it, what could they do realistically? Aside from the emotional weight of getting people to abandon their home and a multi-generation relationship the stretches back centuries and centuries, the logistics of getting 10,000 people to desert and transporting them without the Republic and GAR noticing and stepping in feels unrealistic. Not only this, but they'd be ditching the clones to slavery yet again, as it's not like the Jedi can all desert and take the clones with them like they're plushie toys. Each clone is a different individual and deprogramming child soldiers is difficult.
People like Dogma, Neyo and Bacara wouldn't canonically desert without the right circumstances, Captain Rex wouldn't just desert with Anakin, nor could Obi-Wan sashay Commander Cody and his troops away like some of the fandom thinks. A lot of clones were indoctrinated to be loyal to the Republic from a young age. If the Jedi had just flat out tried desert, Order 66 would have likely happened earlier and Palpatine would have easily painted the Jedi as traitors.
Of course, there are the inhibitor chips as also a factor, but we can only judge the moral character of the Jedi based on the knowledge they did have and what they chose to do with it.
Tumblr media
Barriss Offee: "An army fighting for the dark side. Fallen from the light we hold so dear. This Republic is failing. It's only a matter of time."
However, this is no excuse for the Jedi Order choosing the worst option out of a bad bunch. The Jedi crossed the moral precipice. They crossed it ever since AOTC when they decided that indoctrinated, slave soldier of dubious origin were just what they needed to throw into the desert meatgrinder that is Geonosis as the war started. There reasons make sense in their way, there's millions of units of droid army marching their way and the Republic and Senate have only a ten-thousand strong Jedi and the Judicial Forces. At the same time, the reasons for that humanitarian crisis aren't justifications. 'Cool motive. Still slavery' applies here.
Ethically, Yoda and Mace shouldn't have just gone along with the draft without any counter-strategy, especially if they cared about the clones as human beings and a people. They could have pretended cooperation and done discreet resistance at least. Of course, the Jedi even if they resisted weren't probably gonna have a happy ending, as generations under Republic thumb had neutered them and taken their passion and power, but they would have taken the moral and right action.
Instead, the Jedi remain the face of the war effort, using a Trojan Horse slave army just given to them with no real protest. If the Star Wars had truly wanted the Jedi to be wholly good, they'd have had them be more begrudging, cynical and weary at being pressured and coerced by the state. There'd be growing Anti-Republic sentiment, which would have been a start. Rebellion, dissent and mutiny would have been even more valuable and expected. Instead, the Jedi Order are loyal to the regime until the very last moments of the war.
In Conclusion
In the twilight years of the Republic, Palpatine really used every weakness of the Jedi against them. As an organisation, the Jedi really can't save themselves. Individuals can, as shown by Ahsoka leaving, but the Republic destroyed the Jedi, it took their soul, it bureaucratised and militarised their culture, and the Jedi just slid down that slope. That's part of why the people felt abandoned by the Jedi, as the Jedi were too melded to the system both functionally and idealistically, trapped in the snake, them and what they stood for slowly digested as they safeguarded and enforced unjust status quos. Even when Dooku was young, as The Tales of the Jedi said, they were already damned. Ahsoka left, every Jedi should have at that point. The Republic definitely would fight an en masse desertion, but it'd have been the right thing to do.
Some Jedi realised and left, others were too committed the belief of a Jedi Order that had become a shadow of what it was. The Jedi are a warning of what happens when governments, hierarchies and religion connect and influence each other for centuries. At the same time, adult Jedi were responsible for their actions, and each could have done more for the clones than they did.
Fives: "We must be trusted to make the right decision, especially when the orders we are given are wrong!"

One of the things I fucking love about Echo is the fact that he has always been a troll.
Can you imagine the chaos if Echo and Obi-Wan teamed up?
Jedi Master troll and ARC Trooper troll pissing off their enemies with dry wit and sarcasm alone.
The Sass Duo.

The Clone Wars 2x13 ‘Voyage of Temptation’ Reaction
Tumblr media
There was so much in that little “Very well.” from Obi-Wan
Anakin is on to you Obi-Wan and you are not helping yourself with all of those defensive and unsubtle reactions.
Why did that clone sound like an Aussie? G’day mate?
Lol of course there’s something in the crates
Satine is making an impassioned argument against war but it is rather undermined by her lying on a pile of plush cushions on top of a giant stepped throne that positions her above her subjects so she is literally looking down on them. The opulent setting, servant droids and champers being passed around doesn’t help either.
“I meant no disrespect.” said with all the underlying sass possible. That “Really” from Satine shows that she saw right through it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Senators, I presume you are acquainted with the collection of half-truths and hyperbole known as Obi-Wan Kenobi.” SCREECHING THE SAVAGERY
“Your highness is too kind.” The Sassery Continues!
I only noticed this while pausing but why the fuck does Orn Free Taa have two Twi’lek girls hanging off him?!
I love the framing here when Obi-Wan is addressing Satine. He’s almost at her eye level even though she’s on top of her throne pedestal. Visual metaphor for how similar they are yet how they are kept apart from eye other due to their duty to their beliefs? So close and yet so far.
Mum and Dad are fighting again.
“I think a multitude makes discord, not good counsel.” Satine absolutely shutting down Orn Free Taa. I love her. She takes absolutely no shit.
“There may be two sides to every dilemma but the Duchess only favours hers.” And you don’t only favour yours Obi-Wan? Side eyeing
Hello Mixer! Oh, they’ve named a clone, and we’re in a dark and spooky environment. He’s not going to last very long is he?
R2 you cheeky little shit
The clones definitely sound Australian. They’re supposed to be Kiwis, not Aussies. Very different accents. Humans are space australians though so maybe we can use that as the loosest of explanations?
“Droids” (derogatory). Is immediately stabbed to death by a droid.
The flirting continues! I mean fighting! The fighting continues. Yes, they’re definitely fighting. Totally not flirting at all.
“Even extremists can be reasoned with.” I love you Satine but I’m gonna have to disagree with you on that one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Ah, the sarcasm of a soldier.” “The delusion of a dreamer.” So that’s where this exchange comes from. That is some serious staring contest going on and neither is backing down.
Tumblr media
“Fine.” ALL THE SASS
Oh rip Redeye, we didn’t even find out his name until after his gruesome death.
The jump from the clone getting stabbed to death by the droid to the opulent surrounds of the upper levels of the ship was jarring. Probably intentionally so.
“You and Satine have a history.” ya don’t say
Tumblr media
CACKLING at Obi-Wan’s side eye at Anakin after he said Obi-Wan’s description of his year protecting Satine sounded romantic. Anakin did have a point though. Obi-Wan’s voice definitely sounded like he was reminiscing about old (romantic) times.
“That would’ve been problematic.” YA DON’T SAY
Anakin finding out his Master had a girlfriend?! Surprised pikachu face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“A jedi must not form attachments” says the little shit with A WIFE
“But he usually leaves out the undercurrent of remorse.” Aw sadge
“Alright men, what’s the problem? I’m missing dinner.” Anakin back to being a shit again I see. Normal service has resumed.
Anakin did you just cut off Cody to talk to your droid?! How Dare.
Giant empty box in an obvious spot in the cargo bay. Yup, that looks pretty obviously out of place.
“That’s not good.” Do I have to say it again?
Anakin talking to R2 like he’s a dog. That is definitely Talking To My Dog Voice. WHOSEAGOODDROIDYESYOUARE
The droid walking out the dead body of Redeye is maximum levels of creepy
Is this a spider droid?
Oof lightsaber right through the droid eye
Oh of course there are babies. Of course it had creepy tiny baby assassin probe droids. More nightmare fuel.
It’s probably cruel but I did laugh at Orn Free Taa screaming and running away from the tiny assassin probe droids.
They’re fighting back to back and protecting each other! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Do you always carry a deactivator?” Obi-Wan is so not impressed
“Just because I’m a pacifist doesn’t mean I won’t defend myself.” “Now you sound like a jedi.” Hmmmm he’s got a point there
I don’t think Rex got the braincell today
“I meant the scar I got after you fell and dropped me.” “Oh. Yes.” CACKLING AND SCREECHING
Satine completely stepping on Obi-Wan’s knight in shining armour moment there.
I think that quote about how people treat those below them rather than those equal to or above them is really relevant to Anakin here, who treated that droid like absolute shit.
A traitor?! The sinister plot thickens!
Dark!Obi-Wan decides to come out and play as he basically threatens the senators with an assassin droid.
Hello to senator Kin Robb
Called it. I thought there was something off about that dude when we met him in the last episode, though I thought he was a slimy advisor rather than a senator. Reminded me of Wormtongue from LotR
Obi-Wan did you just hit the assassin droid away from Satine with a frying pan?!
So Merrick has instantly transformed from smooth talking slimy advisor/senator to OTT scenery chewing villain
Lmao at Cody just randomly shooting into the air when the baby assassin droid leapt onto his bucket
Rex freaking out and smacking into the storage crates as he tries to keep the other baby assassin droid off his bucket
Anakin: Well, we found the little ones. What about the mother? Rex: Haven’t seen it Also Rex: *immediately gets body slammed by the mother assassin droid*
Rex when you see the mother assassin droid, don’t just point at it! Poor Rex, he definitely didn’t get the braincell for this mission
Rex just catching the assassin droids giant stabby legs and then kicking it off him like it’s nothing
Tumblr media
Rex taking it up a notch and leaping on top of the assassin droid, pinning it under his boot and blasting all the tiny assassin droids to bits. Sir did you have to go So Hard?
I didn’t catch this until I replayed this little section over quite a few times but Anakin actually signals to Cody to stop firing at the mother assassin droid so that Anakin can fling his lightsaber at it and chop off some of its legs.
I also didn’t notice this little detail until after multiple replays but the mother assassin droid actually headbuts Rex straight in the bucket. Poor Rex, if he didn’t have the braincell today before that then he definitely doesn’t now.
Also the assassin droid sounds like it screams when Rex steps on it. He can step on me like that any time he likes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“This may not be the time to ask” YA THINK ANAKIN?!
Lol @ Obi-Wan’s defensive reaction. It definitely has a bearing on the situation at hand. Their reactions and expressions after are just as hilarious. Poor little Obi-Wan and his sad little face.
That is one weird looking ship
Well that’s one way of boarding a ship
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Anakin, she’s not my girlfriend!” CACKLING
Merrik has gone full villain stereotype
“Satine…” MYEMOTIONS.GIF
OMG THIS WHOLE LOVE CONFESSION SCENE
Tumblr media
“I’ve loved you from the moment you came to my aid all those years ago.” SOBBING
Also, Merrik’s look of utter disgust in the background and the overly dramatic eyeroll is absolutely sending me
“Satine, this is hardly the time or place for…” DAMMIT MAN LISTEN TO HER
Satine: *puppy dog eyes* Obi-Wan: Alright
Tumblr media
“Had you said the word, I would have left the Jedi order.” SHAKING AND CRYING
Merrik utterly ruining the moment there. Though the absolute over the top scenery chewing villainry that he’s channeling is still deeply amusing me.
Was that a tactical love confession from Satine? I’m not saying it wasn’t genuine or real, just that it seemed a both obvious and clever time to tell the love of your life that you’ve loved him ever since you met. We’ve already seen that Satine is exceptionally smart and shrewd and I wouldn’t put it past her.
“You have the romantic soul of a slug Merrik *stomps* and slugs are so often trod upon.” YASSSS GET HIS ASS SATINE
Merrik getting his villain monologue in. He has got them in a philosophical quandary though and he knows it. I am absolutely loving the over the top sarcastic overly dramatic villain mode. It’s like they’ve got every stereotypical villain trope and shoved it in him.
Merrik: “Who’ll strike first and brand themselves a cold-blooded killer?” Anakin: Me!
Tumblr media
That was definitely a slowed down few notes of the Imperial March playing over the shot of Anakin popping up after stabbing Merrik through the chest with his lightsaber. It’s an interesting juxtaposition because Anakin pops up from the bottom of the screen with this little smile and looking almost sweet and wide-eyed. Yet the music is hinting at what we all know happens in the future. Another thing I didn’t notice until multiple replays of this little section is that the framing of Anakin here is also very dark. The entire background is black or dark grey. Plus his armour and jedi robes are black, very dark grey and red. How did anyone not see this coming? Or rather, they probably did and didn’t know how to handle it or realise it was past the point of no return until it was too late.
“Obi-Wan, I…” DAMMIT CODY. Why did you have to pick now to be your usual hyper competent Marshal Commander self? Talk about a cock block
“I must get back to the business of diplomacy.” Nooooooooo
“As you say Duchess, some other time.” SOBBING
That feels like Obi-Wan’s version of “As you wish.” from The Princess Bride.
That is a lot of fancy words and diplomacy and Great Negotiator-ing for ILOVEYOU
Tumblr media
“I’m still not sure about the beard.” CACKLING
Obi-Wan’s little concerned and flustered reaction. My girlfriend doesn’t like my beard?!
“It hides too much of your handsome face.” Dayum gurl Satine with the smooth talking moves right there.
Tumblr media
Anakin: A very remarkable woman. Obi-Wan: She is indeed. Anakin: Ya know, if you need any tips on how to keep a relationship a secret, I know a guy.
Also, that hand on the shoulder from Anakin spoke volumes

Writing Obi-Wan I got an amazing ask that has prompted your Pal to go on several rants so I’m breaking it into parts for readability.
An anon new to writing fanfic asked about characterizing Obi-Wan. They asked about his most important traits to include to really nail his characterization and most importantly:
"In particular, I'm confused about reconciling the (chaotic, dramatic, 10/10) Clone Wars happenings with the way he appears in some other stories (more, well, civilized)."
Well anon: ask and you shall receive. Find your pal’s beginner's thesis below, keeping in mind that there are many others in the fandom who are way more accomplished authors who are much better about characterization in their own works and are way more qualified to speak to this. I'm going to do my best!
I love this ask! Characterization is so important in fan fic as we take familiar characters in place them into different scenarios that we haven’t seen how they react and respond to, and yet want it to feel authentic. The best is when you read a chapter and think of course that’s how Obi-Wan would deal with this.
The first part to nailing characterization is voice. Not even the motivation aspects behind “he would not fucking say that” but I literally ask myself: can I imagine the character’s voice actually saying these things? If I can’t hear Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan in my mind speaking the lines of dialogue I’ve written, I know it’s not right. This isn’t something specific I could give you a How To on, it’s 100% based on vibe and feel, BUT. Listen to the dialogue in the movies/tcw/kenobi series. The words he uses, his cadence, his tone. Even if he's being written in an alternate universe speaking about something that canon Obi-Wan has never experienced, and never will, it should still *sound* like him. If I had to summarize his voice: civilized yes, and more mature or refined than Anakin’s speech patterns, but with the ever present threat of sass. Underlying almost everything he says is a sense of I can and will destroy you if you piss me off, so tread lightly.
That brings me to your point of reconciling the different parts of Obi-Wan. There’s a line in Stover’s novelization of Revenge of the Sith which (I'm paraphrasing) says: he’s a Jedi Master who deep down still feels like a padawan. To me, this is why he can be the cool, calm logical Jedi Master one moment and then impulsively launching himself out of windows to hang from a speeding droid the next.
He is the expert of Fake it Till You Make It. He was suddenly thrust into all these roles of responsibility before he was prepared for them, but has taken them on and is Doing His Best. He literally went from being a padawan to having a padawan overnight. He had no time to experience being responsible for himself before he was responsible for someone else. He’s the youngest member on the council and despite, you know, not being trained in the military he is like The Highest Ranking Jedi and in command of a frighteningly huge portion of the GAR. He *is* incredibly competent and good at what he does, but he feels like its a role he's acting. He is playing the part of the wise Jedi, modeling himself after everyone he respects and looks up to and thinks is doing a better job than himself, when a lot of times his personal instinct isn't to react with measured patience but rather Yeet! or Read This Bitch!
Always remember: this man contains multitudes. There is no One Right take on his personality. That’s why he’s so fun to write! And also why there’s so many different versions of Obi-Wan in fan fic, and yet most are able to feel right if they hit the voice. Authors lean into the different sides of Obi-Wan they want to bring out. Some are more into his Big Dick Energy, being a BAMF, having the answers, and being in control General Kenobi. Some relate to the more the anxious padawan desperate to prove himself. Some see the man tossing back shots in the Outlander and think to themselves “this ho has slept with half of Coruscant”. Any and all of these can feel true to the character when done from a place of love and understanding for our main man Obi-Wan Kenobi

House Of Memories (18/?)
Obi-Wan Kenobi x Padawan!reader
Warnings: literally takes place in a strip club... so everything that entails, also jealousy
Summary: You've been given your first assignment as the sole padawan of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and to his surprise, you handle it very well.
A/n: alexa, play jealousy by olivia rodrigo pls....
Words: 2.1k
Tumblr media
"A separatist heist-man and murderer escaped custody of the republic before his interrogation and sentencing this afternoon, and we've traced his location to the planet Scarif," Mace Windu spoke, a group of gathered Jedi stood before him and the council, waiting to take their newest assignments. You and your master were among them. "He seems to be hiding out on one of the beaches many pavilions. I've been requested to send two Jedi and a small portion of a clone battalion to find him and anyone he may be working with. It is preferred that he is brought in alive."
None of the other Jedi had even gotten a chance to raise their hand, speak, or even take another breath before Obi-Wan stepped forward.
"My padawan and I will be much obliged to take this one off your hands," he announced, going forward and accepting the holo-pad graciously. Obi-Wan had been made a member of the council shortly after Anakin became a Knight, and since they saw Obi-Wan as an equal now, your troubles with the council seemed to take a break for the time being.
"I will alert your commander to commandeer a ship, as well as a team. You'll leave first thing in the morning." Master Windu replied, nodding him off so you both could take your leave.
"Master, I thought you wanted to take it easy. A heist-man and murderer doesn't comply with the definition of easy."
You may or may not have gotten into the habit of sassing your master from time to time, but that was only because you lacked Anakin's presence, now. Since he became a knight, and the clone wars were risen across the galaxy, you had very few people to be sarcastic and moody to.
"Yes, but I strictly remember promising you I would take you to a beach, and Scarif has many beaches," he made sure there was no one in the hallway before he snuck a hand to the back of your waist, leading you along until you were back at your apartment.
"Yes, but this was not what I had in mind."
-
Commander Cody, along with his handpicked team were the first to mount the ship the next morning, and you were very happy to see Cody again, since you hadn't been around him since you got back from Geonosis.
"General," he nodded to Obi-Wan. stepping aside and giving you a hand up onto the ship. Ever the gentlemen. "Padawan, it is a pleasure to have you with us on the mission."
"I'm happy to be here, commander."
The small group that was on board had taken to calling themselves 'ghost company', which as frightening as it sounded, they were all perfectly normal to you. You'd never been around a clone you didn't like. They always showed you the upmost respect, almost to a fault.
Obi-Wan was sometimes skeptical about you going off on your own, and sometimes he was able to convince a member of the 212th to go with you. It gave him peace of mind and let him know you would be safe whenever he wasn't there to protect you himself. Life with clones had been a stark contrast from what it was like before they were here, but you couldn't help but think they should have always been around.
Even now, heading to a planet you'd never been to before, you weren't as nervous as you'd normally be, because you were in the company of Cody's men. They were very witty, and made you laugh, distracting you from the length of the flight to Scarif. It didn't take long before you were stepping out into the sandy grounds, taking a deep breath in to revel in the fresh, salty air by the ocean.
"Is is everything you thought it would be?" Obi-Wan teased, coming up behind you and looking over the vast expanse from your point of view.
"Not yet, but there's time."
After setting up base and connecting with the informants, you and Obi-Wan were shown to a room, one which overlooked the cabana, and all its sketchy evening dwellers.
It was said that the man you were looking for usually frequented several of the establishments before leaving every night. He never booked any rooms in the lovely suites they had to offer, but since he came to visit the area often, Obi-Wan knew he couldn't be staying far.
You flopped back into the mattress upon entry, giggling like a child. This wasn't a vacation, but you were going to treat it like it was, because as far as you knew, this was as close to one as you would ever get.
Obi-Wan's comms started buzzing just before sundown, and he raced across the room, answering it.
"He's been spotted outside the nightclub," Cody informed him, but he wasn't finished. "He hasn't gone in, should we drive him to the entrance?"
"We will be heading down in a moment, keep your position and remain hidden."
You must have dazed off in your thoughts a little, not expecting the tug on your leg when he came to try and get you up. You jumped to your feet, your hyper energy over being on 'vacation' was helping you to stay active. Normally you'd be tired after flying all day, but you were far from tired, or even drowsy for that matter.
"Stay close and follow my lead. This should be an easy grab unless he has managed to find allies here, which, on the off chance that is the case, Cody and his men should be perfectly capable of disarming any threats," he wrapped you in your cloak, pulling the hood over your head and adjusting it just so. He had little OCDs that he would never tell anyone about, but they drove him crazy when they were out of place.
"Yes, master. If you should lag behind, do I have your permission to keep going?"
"Normally, yes, but not tonight. This man is dangerous and would not hesitate to kill you for an escape," he grabbed both sides of your face and made you look up at him when he said his next words. "I know sometimes it's hard to resist the heroic urge, but I beg of you, stay by my side, little one."
It was finished off with a kiss to the top of your head, before you heaved a deep sigh and followed him out the door.
By the time you'd gotten downstairs, your target had gone inside the club, thinking he was in the clear, but really, he only trapped himself.
Obi-Wan ordered the clones to seal off every exit, making it impossible for him to escape either way, of course, you and Obi-Wan were going to try and bring him out without so much brute force. It was preferred that this man was brought in alive for questioning, therefore, blaster shots were not your first case scenario.
You'll never forget the feeling of how flushed you became when you entered the confines of this nightclub. You were surprised they didn't ask for your identification to be let in, but then again, no one ever really asked a Jedi. You weren't sure you were old enough to be walking into the doors, even if you were an adult.
Naked women of many species danced seductively around their male occupants for credits, and though you'd never seen anything like it before, you somehow felt you shouldn't be seeing it at all.
"Avert your eyes, little one. These things are not suitable for your viewing," he said, watching as you dropped your head to the ground and followed in his footsteps up to the bar.
You didn't listen in on what he had asked the bartender, you were too distracted by the loud music and trying to keep your gaze on the floor. The floor, which was also very intriguing, the marbled swirls were a nice pattern to look upon.
You stood for a moment more, trying your best to keep your focus, but you couldn't help your curiosity. You looked up at a new corner of the room, seeing more women, spinning around large poles in the center of raised platforms. They seemed to be very talented, actually, but you hardly figured it was considered as a respected profession. You were about to drop your eyes to the ground again, but a Twi'lek dancer came up to you, looking at you before eyeing Obi-Wan up and down. He was still turned around, conversing with the bartender, but from what she could see, he was exactly what she wanted for her next meal.
"Normally I'm a higher price, but if he's here for some company, I'd drop it to whatever he's willing to pay," she said, looking back to you, as if you were even coherent enough to respond. You knew exactly what she wanted from him, and as twisted as it sounded, you were only jealous because you wanted the same from him.
"We're only here on business, I assure you," you meant to sound more confident than you came across, but she took your answer well, nodding up and down before giving you a once over.
"Well, not that you ever would, but by the looks of you, you could start at a very high price here yourself. In fact, if you'd like me to put in a word for you, we have an opening."
Your cheeks flushed, and you didn't realize that Obi-Wan had been half listening to the conversation the whole time. He could never truly focus when he sensed you were being interacted with. He kept his exchange with the bartender, but also eavesdropped on the Twi'lek woman who had come up beside you. He heard what she said about him, and sensed your jealousy, but couldn't put the pieces together on that one, far too intrigued by the answer you were about to give.
"I'm not sure I understand," you stuttered out. Was she asking you to prostitute yourself? You knew these kinds of occupations existed. Obi-Wan had taught you all about the ways of the galaxy, even the not so innocent ones. He knew it was up to him to give you and Anakin a well-rounded education, and he knew he couldn't leave out such important things. "I'm a Jedi, why would you think I have experience in this arena?"
You weren't rude in asking, just very curious, and it came out with your words and facial expressions.
"You don't know, do you?" She gave you a sideways look, and you raised your brows, shaking your head. You were very innocent, after all, and didn't know how much more desirable that made you. "Your purity would sell to the highest bidder, dearie."
You lost all emotion in your face when you realized the man you were after, the target, had approached you both, having heard the last part of the conversation.
"A pure Jedi? I'd pay a pretty penny for you. Why don't we discuss a price, and I can show you to a room?" he said, reaching out for you as he came closer.
Obi-Wan heard this and turned around immediately, activating his lightsaber, but he was too late. The man was already writhing on the ground beneath you, his hands cut off and lying beside him. You used the force to pick him back up and stand him in front of you. Obi-Wan was very surprised. He didn't even have to do anything or initiate a chase. It was clear the man didn't know he was being hunted, and for that reason, this mission was a success, by your hand.
"I have a room, and it overlooks the cabana. You won't be seeing it though," you quipped, throwing him back to the ground and knocking him out.
"Well done, padawan."
Obi-Wan saw that the Twi from earlier had yet to leave, despite the fact that lightsabers were now involved.
"Handsome frontside, too? Why don't we grab a drink, Master Jedi?" She tried to get nice and cozy by his side but found herself stuck to her spot upon taking another step.
"He will be far too busy accompanying me back to our suite for the evening, but thank you for the offer," you said, blocking her from getting to him, then letting her go. She narrowed her eyes at you, then sauntered off towards the poles.
Obi-Wan smirked, looking at you with surprise. He sensed jealousy in your before, but now it was pure possession, and he didn't know why you were so intense about it. Surely you didn't fancy him in the ways he so lovingly did you, so why did it matter? Perhaps you were just uncomfortable to think about him with anyone at all and wanted to keep her away for that reason.
"What?" you tilted your head quizzically, awaiting his answer.
"Oh nothing, just surprised is all."
You rolled your eyes, lifting a foot of the man on the ground, and dragging him to the front door, not paying anymore mind to the happenings around you until you were outside with the clones.

Follower Recs
~*~
Sending a follower rec for WIP week! It's a star wars au where the author writes each chapter as if it's the next installment in a saga. It's got a lot of angst and worldbuilding and if you like star wars or sci-fi in general I would highly recommend it!
Duel of the Twins
by Theladyofravenclaw
T, WIP, 71k, Wangxian
Summary: A long time ago in a galaxy far far away... After growing up together at the Jedi temple on Coruscant Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng venture out on their own for the adventure of a lifetime. However, when an unknown threat and raging war looms overhead, the paths that they must take to protect those that they love will change the course of the galaxy forever. A tale of two brothers, bound by fate, to discover who they are and what destiny awaits. (or the "Wei Wuxian as a sith lord" fic that I've been craving for a while.)

Hi. I would like to Follower Rec two stories for WIP week. The first is the unfished fourth story in a wonderful series. Glitterbombshell does an incredible job with characterisation and I who doesn't love teacher!WWX? @immoralq
Youth Is Sweet and They Are Growing
by Glitterbombshell
Not rated, WIP, 4k, Wangxian
Summary: It is not the first discussion conference that has been held since Jin Guangyao’s downfall, but it is the largest so far. And the first one since Wei Wuxian officially started teaching the Lan clan’s novices. In an effort to encourage inter-sect alliances and friendships among even the youngest disciples,a series of friendly skill demonstrations and competitions are held, with events for all ages to participate in. To the surprise of literally no one, the Jin sect children seem to come out of the womb puffed up on pride and thinking they’re at least a little bit better than everyone. Their novice disciples are no exception. The Jin novices’ first mistake was underestimating the Lan class because most of them are a few years younger than them. Their worst mistake was making disparaging remarks about their beloved Master Wei where Lan Xin could hear them.

This is the second rec. I love the idea of LWJ being forced into seclustion and then being rescued by A-Yuan, and it's written so well. Thank you! @immoralq
flower of justice
by neoncoin
T, WIP, 18k, Wangxian
Summary: Convinced his brother won't survive the punishment for disobeying the elders after Nightless City, Lan Xichen intervenes, and pleads insanity on Lan Wangji's behalf. A few years later, little A-Yuan makes friends with a strange man who lives in the Gentian House. (And a few years after that, Sizhui helps plot an escape attempt.)
~*~
One of time travel fic that i like. I like the interaction between WWX and other character and how WWX managed to make a new talisman by accident when he is blind
The Darkness Before Dawn
by PsycheStellata707
M, WIP, 113k, Wangxian
Summary: Wei Ying remembers falling and a voice. “The price of seeing the future Is the ability to see the present” ... Or, another time travel-fix it where Wei Ying is given another chance to change destinies; but nothing comes free.
~*~
Also!
Modern Cultivation AU. Wei Ying gets tossed out of the Jiang sect after a night hunt goes bad. Cue Yu Ziyuan's terrible decisions. He lands with the Wen who of course are like ... No wait. Shit. He's a fucking genius!!
It's still in the ramp up but it has so much potential and I love a Meet Ugly. This has some top quality high grade LWJ sass, and classic WY and his absolute inability to see his own value.
The modern AU translation feels very plausible as well. Of course there'd be social channels dedicated to the wild stuff cultivators can do.
Anyway. Highly recommend! [I second this rec! It's a 💙 ~Mod Kay.]
Truth Will Out (when caught on video)
by KizuKatana
E, WIP, 63k, Wangxian
Summary: A night-hunt goes wrong, and Wei Wuxian is scapegoated for the death of the Jiang Sect Leader and the destroyed core of the Jiang Sect Heir. As punishment, his core is taken and given to Jiang Cheng, and he is stripped of his cultivation credentials and expelled from the sect. What everyone forgot was that Wei Wuxian was wearing the standard issue body camera that each cultivator wore on training missions and high-risk night-hunts. Struggling to make ends meet, Wei Wuxian finds his way to Caiyi Town with the doctor who performed the surgery, a partial core still secretly in place. His application to work at Cloud Recesses is summarily rejected by the hard-edged Second Jade of Lan after an unfortunate initial encounter. But things change when someone hacks into the Jiang systems and releases the footage of what happened. [First part of the title is a quote from Shakespeare, but this story is not based on that one!]
