Affiliation: Angelic Hierarchy of Yalbdalaoth, Church of Yalbdalaoth

According to Yalbdalite scripture, Ophan is an Archangel, one of the divine generals of Yalbdalaoth. Taking on the appearance of a large, gilded sphere covered in many eyes and two flexible yet durable glowing tendrils, Ophan is said to be the eyes of Yalbdalaoth. From their many eyes, Ophan emits purifying rays of light to decimate the forces of the Thalnyaric Legion and protect Yalbdalaoth's followers, whether they be on the Church's homeworld of Muriga or proselytized offworldes.

According to those outside the Church and Legion, Ophan is not really an angel, but a Forceless construct completely covered in golden armor, and yet another tool for the Church to maintain its iron-fisted rule of Muriga via a staged forever war. What looks like their eyes are actually laser emitters, with their actual eyes being comparatively tiny.

A Less Perfect Union by William Leisner (2008)

Alternate universes is part and parcel for Star Trek, and this series of novellas seems to have arrived at a time when authors were keen to meld those universes and pepper in some “what if...” scenarios. I like that this one gives T’Pol a proper due.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (2020)

The whole thing, just all of it. What a read and especially good timing as I was just in one of those former silver towns that were built on the slave labor from local people. The house is so richly described that I can still walk through it when I close my eyes.

A shockingly good game based on the Goosebumps license. It captured a really mellow, spooky atmosphere and wasn’t interested in rushing the player along. Just the kind of game I’d hope to see and I’m glad we at least got a couple of these meaty adventure games in the series.

Matariel, OPHANs unit for Jupiterra. As part of the 'angels as tools / toys' theme the OPHANs follow (due to being created by Ultimate Cosmic Puppetmaster Sam) she's based on various exercise / sports wheels. She uses her halos as cyr wheels / rhönrad wheels and can generate electricity from them.
