Could you please draw Ace and Yamato getting married with Ace dressed in a suit and Yamato in a Kuromontsuki haori hakama and Marco is the officiant while the Whitebeard Pirates are Ace's groomsmen while The Strawhats are Yamato's (everyone is dressed nicely in their own style) and Otama is a flower girl while Chopper is aring bearer

This was a bit of a hefty ask, so I’m sorry that it doesn’t have everything! Anyways this is canon because I say so.

ONE PIECE SPOILERS!! ⚠️‼️

One thing about me is that I will gaslight myself if I don't like a storyline or am too heartbroken by it. What are you telling me? That law lost everyone close to him? That Corazon couldn't have enough dad-son time? That Luffy sacrificed more than a decade of his life for the only brother who he thought was alive for the brother to die anyway? That the world's greatest pirate crew disbanded to be left with the image of a family that they couldn't talk to for years because they had to go so deep underground and don't even know if all of them are well and alive? That Rayleigh now has to live without his one best friend and the man who was perhaps the dearest person to him who gave him a grand life and a purpose? That Tama will never meet her brother again even though he promised her he would come back? That Yamato’s only friend whom they only met for one night died while he couldn't do anything about it? That brook died while remaining alive and the only person alive after living through the deaths of his captain and his crew and being alone for about half a century he will probably outlive the straw hats as well and be the last living one again when though he hates being alone? That chopper who only wanted to help the only person who cared for him but ended up having a hand in killing him by giving him poison? That Robin ran for two whole decades since the age of eight and was an unwanted child since she was a toddler and being left with the burden of being the sole survivor of an island that simply was innocent? That buggy still hates Shanks even though they promised to sail together and never leave each other yet he still has to see Shanks make a name for himself and sail the seas and make a name for himself when they were supposed to do it together and now his issues are even more. And that Shanks despite not knowing what his fault was lost his friend that was supposed to last and still somehow can't let go? That sabo couldn't get to know the ace who loved Luffy so much more and who became a more gentle puppy rather than the beast with fangs when that was how he wanted Ace to be since the beginning and when he did know him Ace was already dead trying to protect the brother they were both meant to save together and now he blames himself all for it even though he didn't have any fault in it? And so much more…

Because my brain still believes that Law didn't lose anyone and that despite Corazon being alive he is still free of Doffy and Cora still got to raise his son. That Ace is still alive and that Luffy’s sacrifice was worth it in the end. That the Roger crew is still a family that meets up every few months and that somehow it doesn't hurt. That Ace wasn't hurt and that he would feel loved. Ace did come back to Wano with Luffy and made even more straw hats for Tama and now straw hats remind him of two of the dearest people in the world. That Yamato never lost Ace, never felt hopeless and that they met again and will meet again. That somehow Brooks's captain and crew didn't die, that he didn't have to live in constant hallucinations and dreams and that he wouldn't have to hurt all over again. That somehow chopper is okay and so is his father who is still waiting for his son to return after his great journey. That Robin didn't have to suffer, that she was loved. That buggy didn't have to go through it all alone and neither did Shanks. That Sabo wasn't taken away, and he knew and saw the Ace he wished to see for Ace. And that he doesn’t have to let the guilt eat through him because Ace never died and they protected their brother together and they are still brothers, separated by the seas but connected by their promise and the cup of sake they drank.

I knwo it's a great story, it's the grandest story I will ever live through yet my heart shatters every time for them.

So every time I'm too heartbroken i will be like this Luffy.

One Piece SBS Vol 105 Thoughts

The spoilers have been flowing out for SBS 105, and with it a bunch more info to digest. So let's talk about some key points.

Spoilers for the SBS (which also has Wano spoilers)

Starting with the big one:

Zoro's bloodline

I see a lot of people upset or mad that Zoro's family tree was put in an SBS, but honestly I don't think it matters. The Wano chapters were already pretty blatant about the fact that Zoro is a descendant of Ryuma and there's more to his likeness to Ushimaru than the prior SBS confirming that he's not his dad. All you really get from the SBS is the bits in the middle; Ushimaru is his great uncle, his sister Furiko married a swordsman around Shimotsuki village, Roronoa Pinzoro, who bore Zoro's father, Roronoa Arashi. Arashi died fighting pirates, but interestingly married a 'Tera', a Bandit's daughter, who died of illness.

Honestly though, I think there's still more to it. The fact that Zoro didn't initially grow up in Shimotsuki village must mean that his mother resided somewhere else, was Zoro a bandit kid? Is his maternal grandfather still alive? What pirates did Arashi die fighting against? There still feels like there's some stuff less obvious Oda could potentially unpack.

Side Note: Tashigi Reminder to people that this does not confirm that Tashigi is a Shimotsuki either, despite some people's efforts to spin it that way. Yes 25 people left Wano and only 10 founded Shimotsuki village (which was already a village but renamed) but that does not mean they were all Shimotsuki, Miyatomo the craftsman was also a part of that group after all, plus there will be people in service of the clan (like Orochi was to Yasuie, even though he wasn't a Shimotsuki). In addition, it's worth noting that the village was established by defeating bandits, some simply may not have made it out alive. Overall her former likeness to Kuina may be something, but it also may not, nothing about her is confirmed yet.

Chopper vs SMILEs

So while many were disappointed to hear that there was nothing Chopper could do to fix the people suffering from the defective SMILEs, it always made sense to me. For one, the after-effect is not a disease or virus, so it doesn't quite undo his goal (people just expect Chopper's goal to be completed in Wano when it's convenient?). Secondly, SMILEs are fake Devil Fruits, so people are really expecting Chopper to undo a Devil Fruit effect? That's a bit much.

I feel like people expected too much from this because of how easily Chopper could counter Queen's Plague Rounds, but even this was beyond his capability.

Kurozumi Tama

I mean, this was obvious right? She has purple hair, how many other characters in Wano have the same hair colour as Orochi? The key thing though was Oda clarifying the also-obvious matter of Hiyori's parting words to Orochi being specifically for Orochi himself. Tama is a Kurozumi, but she isn't going to be subjected to the same harassment, especially since she partook in defeating Orochi and Kaido too, plus she has an army of SMILE users at her disposal and also the only ones who really know she's a Kurozumi would be Hitetsu/Sukiyaki (who was fine about raising her) and herself, and she would have the wherewithal to keep it to herself anyway.

Others

On the less unpackable side of things there was art of Yamato as an Oiran to satiate the thirst traps, of course in this case Yamato probably wouldn't be identifying as Oden if he was an Oiran.

Green Bull and Black Horse (the criminal investigation guy) had their design inspirations revealed, they are indeed very accurate.

And Oda very expertly danced around Sanji's eyebrows changing due to the Raid Suit effects, so there will probably be more to Sanji's biology to look into later.

Post-Reverse Mountain crew know some of what happened during the sagas before they joined, by asking those who were there if they were willing to tell, which makes sense, not too necessary but it also explains why Franky and Robin didn't know about Laboon in Thriller Bark.

Also alongside Sora, Warrior of the Sea, Oda revealed that the other popular picture books are; 'Fire Dog' (A dog on fire), 'Pokeemon' (maybe Pokémon hinted but image is more Doraemon), Monkey Ball (Dragon Ball, has a monkey with an axe flying the nimbus), and 'Marco-San' (which is just a girl, I was half expecting just Marco or a Pineapple, dunno the reference).

Chapter 1049: Finally

Oh, thank goodness. The Luffy/Kaido fight finally seems to be over. I assume we’ll get the victory card in 1050. The victory card coming in the chapter after the final blow landed has been a pattern during the raid.

I like that Luffy’s words with his final blow go back to his promise to Tama:

Red Bean Soup for everyone!

And we get white-eyed Kaido. He’s down.

The art, exemplified by the panels above, was quite difficult for me to follow, though. That’s been happening a lot in Wano. Looking forward to this being animated so I can actually see what happened.

The Joyboy stuff... I’m just not going to touch it.

I do, however, really like the final panels of the chapter. We get the juxtaposition of the wishes of Wano’s citizens for freedom with the fall of Kaido and Momo successfully landing Onigashima before it crashes into the Flower Capital.

I bet this will be gorgeous when animated:

Exhausted Momo! You did good, bud!

I do worry about the side effects we’re going to see from Luffy’s awakening now that the fight seems to be over.

We also get a short Kaido flashback. Honestly, I have not found him a particularly compelling villain (particularly in contrast to Doflamingo and Big Mom in the last two big arcs) and the bursts of flashback we get don’t do much to change my view on that.

Then again, the more I think about it, the more likely it seems that superficiality is intentional. When looking back at the villains I was drawn to, well, who was Doflamingo’s parallel? Law. Both characters are incredibly complex, intelligent, and have lives shaped by childhood trauma. They both turned their anger outward, but Law was saved by Cora while Doffy was groomed by Trebol.

Meanwhile, Kaido’s parallel is Luffy. They’re both straightforward figures with big dreams. One, however, is beaten down by his life and, in response, uses his strength to conquer while Luffy’s experiences push him to use his strength to protect his loved ones. Kaido enslaves while Luffy values freedom above all else.

(As for WCI, something something Big Mom, who was unwanted by her parents and became a monster of consumption, paralleling Sanji, who was also unwanted by Judge but starved and expresses his love through cooking something something.)

Anyway, back to Kaido: living in the Kingdom of Vodka... Kaido never had a chance against the booze, did he? We also get some context for the numerous times Kaido’s been captured: he does it on purpose for the three squares prisoners get, apparently. Also, still no indication of who Yamato’s mother is. Ah well.

Also, we’ve got a whole bunch of Devil Fruit users in trouble from Raizo’s flood:

Kid plus

Robin, Brook, Law, Apoo (not that anyone cares about the last one) plus

Tama, Chopper, and Kin’emon plus the SMILE users among the Beast Pirates. In other words, a good chunk of the cast!

Finally, the Denjiro and Hiyori scene rubs me the wrong way.

I get that he helped raise her and protected her all those years and that is where this moment is coming from, but I’m still bitter about Hiyori not getting to deal the final blow here after declaring that she wanted to in order to let Denjiro do it. My bias just makes this feel condescending, though I know it’s not meant to come across that way.

Oh well. I’m just glad things are finally on the move again!
