Why three-red-horns or 3RH?

Carpe diem (or noctem). Seize the moment. "Seize what you can." Very much relatable, hence I write to my heart and to my dirty mind desires.

My blog name and the picture of 3 Red Horns (3RH) has a carpe diem kind of story attached to it. I saw those red horns in Italy (Naples, methinks) in abundance on every corner, on keychains, necklaces, big, small, you name it. Locals told us the phallic shaped horns are a symbol of virility and fertility, worn for protection and luck. I didn't buy any. Bam! Guess what, in the next city, there were none.

Fast forward few years, saw these earrings in Costa Rica, with three red horns and tiny evil eyes on each, made by a local artist. Bought them on the spot.

3 Red Horns, a daily reminder to seize the moment.

With this photo I start the new series #3RHcameraroll. I have over seven thousand pictures on my phone, some good, some great, some too personal. And I never post any, only reblog.

It's so easy to reblog, it's so hard to post your own content. Content creators, I salute you. Those in the beginning of their journey, with nowhere to hide the miniscule number of likes and reblogs. So brave! Today I join you.

Seize the moment. Life is too short not to do what you like, what you crave, what you want.

“Lord Narcissus,” she said with a curtsy as she got close to him. “You’re looking lovely tonight.”

It wasn’t even a lie. He did look lovely. He had an elaborate red flowery hairpiece made out of real flowers, and he was wearing a tight red cocktail dress that, while definitely scandalous, did admittedly draw attention to his figure. Narcissus was a good-looking man – it was a shame that was his only virtue.

My rewrite:

She curtsied as she got close to him, taking the time to think of something to say. "Lord Narcissus," she said, "you look lovely tonight."

What irritated her was that she wasn't lying: he did look lovely. His dark hair was a stark contrast to the red flowery headpiece--which she was certain was real--that accentuated his eyes. His wavy hair framed his face well, and the choker emphasized his long neck. The scandalously tight cocktail dress matched the headpiece, and the fact that it did well for his figure irritated her to no end. It was a shame his looks were his only good virtue--the loveliness of his appearance couldn't help but be tainted by his repulsive personality.

C's line:

The blood dripped into the awaiting bowl and painted its alabaster walls crimson. Narul watched it trickled down his arm, skirting past the hairs, rolling veins, and moles. Despite these twenty years of blood lettings, he could not shake a creeping feeling of unease as his eyes followed its creeping path down his arm. He gazed back at himself from the scarlet pool, he could not meet his own eye, could not stand to look that creature in the face. He turned away.

My rewrite:

Narul watched as the blood dripped into the alabaster bowl. With each drop, the sides became more and more stained with the sickening yet almost satisfyingly familiar crimson. The blood slowly fell down his arms like rain against glass, past his hairs, moles, veins. Twenty years of bloodlettings could not quench his repulsion, but still he could not look away from it. His eyes followed each drop's path, until he accidentally caught his reflection in the carmine pool growing in the bowl. He looked away as quickly as he could, more disgusted at the creature in his face than the blood.

My line: (shaking it up and doing it from SOTL!!!)

Jack scrutinized the castle before him. It stretched up, up, up into the sky--and as they were already in the clouds, Jack didn’t want to know how high the tallest tower was above the ground--how he wouldn’t like to be the poor bloke who was defenestrated from it. The castle was made of some sort of dark stone, giving it the unsettling feel of a haunted house. There was the cobblestone path, yes, but on either side of it, Jack realized that yes, they were still on clouds, though where the castle was, the clouds were dark and gray, and when Jack listened closely enough, he realized that there was a booming irregular pulse of thunder that shook the ground ever-so-slightly, enough to cause the stone beneath his shoes to rattle.

Words of Encouragement

A few days ago, I saw this TT of a guy talking to an older man who was selling his books at a grocery store. You could tell he was tired and probably a little defeated but after the guy talked to him and promised to purchase some copies, his face lit up. Before the video, the man—Shawn M. Warner—had like 3 reviews for his book. Today, a stitch of the original video popped up and it was the writer of the book just expressing how happy and grateful he is. He now has over 600 reviews on Amazon.

I said all this just to say that it’s never too late. This man spent his life doing all these different jobs and supporting his family, but now he is finally able to chase his dreams and become a writer.

Things aren’t always so clear in life and sometimes the good stuff gets clouded by all the bad and all the “reality”. We force ourselves into grey, dull lives when really, we know what we want, but we’re just scared or "trying to be realistic". We deprive ourselves of the reality that we could be living out of fear and sometimes even distrust of our own selves.

It doesn’t really matter how old you are or where you are in life. If you have a dream, go for it. If it takes you months, years, or decades, go for it. Your dream only dies when you let it die.

Chen's (can I call you that? Idk what to call you) line:

Life can be a bitch. Life can squeeze you in its arms and either make you feel warmth or burn you in its fire. It's not easy for everyone, but I had never considered such a thing because my life was great. There were people who went through life with scars that instead of healing, got deeper. You couldn't get rid of or cover these scars and unfortunately life helped you to never forget them.

My rewrite:

Life is a bitch. It just is. Sure, it makes you feel warm and good sometimes, but just when you think you can finally relax and get comfortable, it burns you with fire. It's not easy for anyone - some more so than most. But my life was so good... I never realized how bad it actually was. My scars healed. Theirs...didn't. They just got deeper until you could no longer rid of them. And unfortunately...life will never let you forget them.

The girls hurried through their dinner, small talk too awkward. “Happy Birthday” was always awkward, but tonight, Ash sensed her friends were not in the mood. What they’d experienced was bizarre and eventful, frankly insane. Lexi found herself uncomfortable. Why couldn’t they just enjoy their evening? Why did there have to be a looming cloud over everyone?

Speaking of awkward, using awkward twice in close succession is a little, well, awkward. Maybe *I* need to rewrite it lol. I should probably just rewrite this myself
