My glasses couldn't possibly be ready yesterday when we were there, they have to be ready today. Just prescription readers with each eye a slightly different strength but it's part of the game where if I get regular eye exams started now it'll be easier to get real glasses if I ever need them.
Finished with the rewriting and slightly more organized notes yesterday. Still have a few pages that could be fine tuned but its much better than it was.
Used my reusable notebook yesterday too. It's a kind that uses a Pilot Frixon pen, reviews say don't use the eraser on a reusable notebook because it might effect the special surface, don't get them wet, no fan fic after midnight... Actually it's a wet erase thing but it's a lot heartier than a regular paper notebook if you burn thru a lot for things like shopping lists you might otherwise just throw away.
I got one that fits in my purse so I can write down my ideas as they come, did so while shopping, and feel more free to use up paper space. If I have my notebook paper free writing is no problem but if I only have the tornado of thought book I'll usually put in more concise writing even tho it's an anything goes in thing. Make sense?
Also if I don't have my glasses on I can just scribble in the reusable book and not have to worry if it's readable enough. The tornado book is becoming a nice record of my creative ideas as they form and I'd like to have it readable for myself.
Good old emotional support hellsite that gets me if I say I have to write 300 words on the first time Michael in Grease 2 puts on his Cool Rider outfit. Or that I know there's a blog dedicated to Michael Sheen's bum-bum and you do you.
Now that we have 3 seasons of Picard how is the first one holding up. No offense to the actress herself that plays robot girl, I should see what else she's done, it could be the writing, but poh-tay-toh.
Why are there 3 men with black hair and beards? Any of them could have been a diversity cast. Points for the keyboard player in the one episode. She was dressed to blend in with the other female extras and the only reason she stood out was because she was the keyboard player. Like Doctor Barbie standing out because she's a doctor.

don’t you just hate it when your favorite pen(s) run out of ink when you’re writing something down?

you're picking one pen and one pen only for the rest of your life. which one, what colour, and why.
omg....i'm SUCH a pen enthusiast this is actually the hardest question of my life. i've been having a #Moment with pilot ballpoint frixon 0.7 for annotating physical books but ultimately i know i will always go back to muji 0.38 gel pens it's basic ik but she's never steered me wrong. for colour i feel like this might be hashtag controversial but i just love red ink pens alkfms

What to keep in your bag: University edition
Alright, sit down youngin's and let me tell you what to keep in your bag for university (and why). First things first, get a backpack that's going to hold up. Your bag is going to get abused and you don't want to have to replace it in the middle of the semester.
Reusable water bottle/coffee cup: firstly, it's good for the environment. Secondly, you might get discounts for having it.
Pencils, pens, writing utensils: basically, get a pencil case. Fill it. Never trust a single pencil or pen. I once had to write half a calculus exam in bright pink pilot frixon because my mechanical pencil died. Trust nothing.
Mini stapler: put it in the pencil case. You'll need it, or someone else will need it and you don't really want to have to hunt around the library for one.
Washi/normal tape: have you ever tried making a poster without tape? Keep spare tape with you, the library might charge for it.
Notebook: listen, maybe you're going to take notes on your laptop. That's great unless you forget to plug it in the night before and it dies in the middle of your lecture. Have a back up.
Laptop: you only need to bring this if you're actually going to use it. Don't bring it just in case, we both know whatever you want to do can probably be done on your phone. That thing takes up precious backpack space, and this isn't highschool where you get to put things in a locker.
Wireless mouse: Excel on a laptop scroll pad. Not the worst, but it's not fun either. Bring a mouse. (Only if you're bringing your laptop though)
Earbuds: the bus sucks without them. Mine only break on midterm days
Lab coat/manual/safety glasses: if you're in science, you have labs. You don't want to be the kid who can't get into their lab because they forgot their coat/glasses. You also don't want to be the kid who doesn't know what they're doing because they don't have a manual.
Planner: listen, I don't care how you do this. I have an ongoing to-do list with dates for every course on Google docs, as well as a physical planner. Do whatever works for you, but keep track somehow.
Hand sanitizer: Germs. Germs everywhere. Everyone is sick. You don't want to be sick (writing a physics midterm with strep throat isn't fun guys). Sanitize yourself.
A small hand moisturizer: so you've sanitized your hands 5 times a day for a week and now your hands are dry. Have a small moisturizer with you. I find LUSH samples are really good for this.
Kleenex: you got sick (s a n i t i z e). It's cold. Your nose is running. It's awful. Have Kleenex.
Tylonel/Ibuprofen/antihistamine: headaches, cramps, sore throat, allergies. We both know you're probably going to that lecture anyway. Have the drugs that will help you.
Tea bags: this may sound funny, but campus coffee shops will probably let you have free hot water and milk. This is cheaper than buying tea everytime you want some.
Lunch/snacks: campus food is expensive, need I say more?
Sweater/hoodie/cardigan/jacket: I know it's a summer course, but you know what's freezing? The lecture hall. The lecture hall is freezing.
Gloves: winter. Snow. Rain. Cold. Gloves. Especially if you're bussing.
Plastic bag: line the inside of your big backpack pocket with a plastic bag. It might look funny, but it'll protect your stuff from puddles and spills
Tampons/pads: uterus bearing humans make sure you are equipped at all times.
Those are the main things. Don't bring textbooks unless you're for sure going to use them because those are heavy. I'm not listing things like your keys and wallet here because I hope you have both of those.
Good luck,
@anothercupofstudying

Favorite Pens:
As a student, I’ve tried a large array of pens in my time. The question is: which are the best?
Well, when I look at pens I really like inky black pens. Here are some of the best! (In my humble opinion)
PAPERMATE INKJOY GEL PENS
These are lovely, smooth, and inky gel pens. They nice enough to hold. But I don’t really care about grips on my pens, if you do, these might not be the pens for you.
For a long time I’ve used these almost everyday. They dry quite quickly, so you are unlikely to smudge while writing, however they don’t stand up well to highlighters! All in all these earn a solid 9/10 because apart from the fact that they smudge when I use my mildliners, they are my perfect pen!
Tumblr media
PILOT FRIXON BALL ERASABLE GEL PEN
These pens are nice. They’re erasable and fairly smooth! However, I do have one big issue with them. The ink is not a very deep black. It tends to look almost a little watered down. I don’t mind trading that setback for the fact that it is erasable, since I like using pen on school work and notes.
All in all, it’s nice to hold, lasts long enough, and is, of course, erasable! A solid 7/10
Tumblr media
BIC GELOCITY ORIGINAL GEL INK PEN
I only just got one of these pens and honestly I really like it! It is very smooth and inky. And it’s a very deep black. All things I love in a pen! Plus the price point isn’t bad, and they’re easy to find!
This pen has a nice grip, although, it’s one drawback is it is very light. I prefer my pens to be slightly heavier. However, that isn’t a deal breaker. It takes a little longer to dry than the ink joy, and it does still smudge. I will definitely by this again though! I’d give it an 8.75/10

The Pilot Frixon Ball Clicker 07 Erasasable pen is a Japanese made pen with turquoise ink. It is not, I repeat is not eraseable. When you try to eRase it with the eraser that is included on the pen it just rips up the paper. At least the cheap recycled American paper that I write my first drafts on. There’s just something tactile about writing your first draft of a paper with paper and pen, isn’t there? This pen has some downsides too. Like.... she didn’t even last a whole semester! Like come one Pilot! I know it’s tough out here for a pimp but come on I expect more from a real life Japanese pen company.

4.27.20 were closing in on the last week of Zoom classes. I’m not sure what I’m going to do to structure my time after this. What I can focus on right now is the two essays, lab report and test all coming in the next week. It’s weird to be on zoom because I can’t actually be a music major.
In other news I bought the Pilot juice pens in .5 and I love them, I prefer .7 because of how smooth it writes but these are pretty good. It’s kind of like a mix between G2 and frixon

setting up my 2019 bullet journal
welcome to my 2019 bullet journal. i’m really excited as it’s my second year doing a bujo and i feel more confident this time around.
the journal
like last year, i’m using a medium leuchtturm 1917 dotted journal but this year it’s the gray hardcover.
key
i stuck with a simple key this year, it has pretty basic symbols.
at-a-glance page
the at-a-glance page is largely inspired by AmandaRachLee. i really like the black/white/gold theme she did.
music/movies/shows
i did this spread last year and i really enjoyed using it. i left the most space for music as this year i had more songs than movies or tv shows.
future log
i’m not a huge fan of future logs. I end up using my monthly or semester overviews more especially because my bullet journal is primarily for recording school stuff but I decided to give this spread another go. I did the months vertically because I know I won’t write a ton and I wanted to use the least amount of pages possible.
year in pixels
I loved this spread for 2018 so I was so excited to recreate it. (I’ll be posting my completed 2018 spreads tomorrow) This year I’m using the erasable pilot frixon markers to fill it out which gives a larger variety in colors compared to the highlighters I used this year.
goals
i essentially used AmandaRachLee’s spread here too. like my future log, the goals page I created for 2018 was unused and I never referred back to it. However, I saw how she divided her goals and I saw myself actually filling this spread out and referring back to it since I could focus on individual categories.
thanks for all of the support this year. I hope everyone has an incredible 2019 ♡

Jessica So Ren Tang
"Chichiro, Take Care. See You Soon. - Risa"
"Starting on the Chihiro piece, I traced the pattern using a pilot frixon pen. The flowers are outlined in DMC # 814, a dark maroon/red and the stems in # 890, a dark green. --------- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected]."
"The next step was outlining the farewell card and filling in some of the text and some stems. ---------- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click the Miyazaki Art Show link."
"Filled in the rest of the card. Next is to start on the petals. ----- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click the Miyazaki Art Show link."
"Starting the petals. I keep each color thread in a labeled bag and stitch one color at a time. I started with the lightest color #3713. I kept track of what colors I used (and they kept changing throughout the process) on the pattern on the left. On the left was also my gum piece that I had to put on hold until the Chihiro piece was finished. ------- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click on the Miyazaki Art Show link."
"Starting to get a feel for the lighting on the flowers. I used the pilot frixon pen as a guide to mark where the shadows fall on each petal. ------- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click the Miyazaki Art Show link."
"Skipped a few days ahead. Stitching the first color helped to separated each flower and make sense of the lighting. ------- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click the Miyazaki Art Show link."
"Another jump. Added a third color, a darker pink for the inside of the flowers. ------ To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click the Miyazaki Art Show link."
"At this stage, it was getting a little close to the deadline. I also traced my name stamp on the bottom right of the flowers before I forget. The bottom flowers are mostly filled in. A few more sessions left. ----- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click on the Miyazaki Art Show link."
"Just one more session left. -------- To inquire about the availability of my piece, please email the gallery at [email protected] or visit spoke-art.com and click the Miyazaki Art Show link."
