christian worship that isn't just white people justifying their shitty beliefs is a hell of a lot better than whatever catholics got going on

#working a broadcast of an event that a bunch of local (largely black) churches participate in #where they sing songs in praise of god + jesus and it's like they very much Do feel the almighty in the room with them. or something #a difference i largely see culturally between white (and latine) and black worship is #worshiping in fear of punishment/as attonement vs praising a figure because He gave them this life and they're thankful #<- latinos included because at least in mx everything is largely Catholic and catholicism is very attonement-focused #also obv not every church is the same etc etc whatever. my mom's family is boring White lutherans and my dad's is slightly #practicing catholics. so i get boring shit and more boring shit whenever we *have* to do something church related #and as someone not raised religiously i break this kinda stuff up into either 'boring' or 'wow! interesting' based on Vibes and #how much it *really* seems to affect people. seeing people physically moved from a song about jesus means more to me than #some guy standing there reciting bible passages

I think we know what I'm about to say.

Do we think vampyres do their own Eurovision Song Contest? And how popular would it be if they did?

My thoughts are that they do. Being Eurocentric as Western vampyre culture is, It's not necessarily that vampyres aren't permitted from performing in the usual one (they totally can) -- just that they have very different musical tastes to human audiences and (rightly or wrongly) they often don't care to play to what human juries and voters love. They compete by country as well, but only because competing by "region" (in which there can be multiple per country) would turn the semi-finals into its own FA World Cup-length event. This also helps nullify (most of) the political bias.

The impression on vampyres though is mixed. Some love it, some like it just fine but only watch the grand final, and some think, due to the frequent focus of the songs, that it's a tad too sanctimonious and the performers could do with turning it down a skosh.

Imagine if Songs of Praise were an international song contest; I'd give it a miss too.

We always think that is fucked up that mega billionaires like musk or bezos don't use their money for good but celebrity cult is worse IMHO. So often I see people calling angels and gods people who are influential and rich after that at best shared a link or asked/charged you to donate or donated 10 euros to something. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they do and I'm sure some of them are good people(although here there's a saying that goes the good is done not flaunted but I guess publicity is better) but from there to see these people idolised and called heroes etc when the real heroes are unknown and probably do shit for free is always annoying to me.

#i hate celebrity worship bc it blows every little shit out of proportion and then their fans or cult members #say well did YOU donate did YOU do anything to a fucking person who struggle to bring something to eat at home #it's the bare minimum? ! just like they should pay taxes and know the lyrics of their songs it's not special it's their job #and god i wish those people were idiotic teens #oh well don't mind me I'm an idealist so these super normal shit affects me personally a lot more than it should #but i sometimes see the stories of the real heroes and it bugs ms that is celeb x who donated 12 euros to get all the praise yanno
