Re-Animator (1985) and Bride of Re-Animator (1990) v.s The Curse of Frankenstein (1957)
I love these films so much !!! After seeing The Curse of Frankenstein I immediately saw the similarity between their dynamic and the the one between Herbert West and Daniel Cain
i love how excited everyone is about princess carol but no one seems to acknowledge that she had a LITERAL DISNEY PRINCESS DRESS CHANGE??? LIKE WITH SPARKLES AND FANCY MUSIC AND A PRINCE WAITING FOR HER??
Do you guys know how embarrassing it was telling my English professor about Re-Animator. This is why I should never get asked what I like unless you are prepared for a conversation as long as the Fitness Gram Pacer Test Audio. I was literally jumping up and down and waving my arms. This is fr why no one takes me seriously. Bro acting like a kid who just got ice cream. I was giggling so much too. Embarrassing. At least she’s a fan now!!
I have so many thoughts about Tim Burton and his filmmaking (like he got REAL lucky he got to work with Henry Selick and Laika Studios), but this filter made me laugh.
A video essay which analyzes Herbert West in specific as an example of a queer character in horror. As well as how the Re-Animator films are queer coded overall.
Made to be Monsters ; 'Re-Animator' - Logan Ashley Kisner. An Injustice!
Another piece by Kisner, this work is longer and goes into more detail about the queer coding of both the first and second films. Specifically they again talk about trans coding and symbolism that can be found in the movies, though this time more through the lens of Herbert being a trans man rather than relating it to the Bride.
