What are your favorite headcanons you have? I notice you always have asks about specific characters, but I think a post dedicated to miscellaneous headcanons you especially love would be a nice break!

Like out of the ones I've already done? I'd say these ones are my favourites

Yuzuha offered to get a bike and drive Hakkai around (not to mention learn to drive) when she realised he was constantly riding with Mitsuya. Hakkai quickly said no though.

Kazutora likes his hair being played with but is too nervous to ask anyone to do it (luckily baji noticed this a while ago and occasionally when they're just hanging out and lying around Baji will play with it).

Izana anonymously donated to orphans in the bad toman timeline

Ran and Rindou both using Koko as their middle man when they're arguing. "Koko, please tell Ran to get his job done" "Koko, please tell Rindou his outfit sucks today" "YOU TWO ARE STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER"

Baji gets extremely excited for zoo visits, as a kid he actually used to frequently get lost at zoo trips since he'd run off to look at all the animals faster then his mum/ class.

Kakucho used to make Izana crayon birthday cards each year as a kid

If Akane had known Koko had manged to save Inupi then she would've been happy that her little brother got out.

Hanma's the type of person who can fall asleep anywhere, chair, bed, floor, laundry pile. He can sleep on any of them.

South kept accidentally mixing up the Haitani brother's names when he first met them.

The first time Mikey's toman friends heard him say "please" is when he was desperately asking them for some of their food. (After they said no the first time, he sighed then suddenly got serious and just said "please"

Sometimes when it rains, Chifuyu will glance around for anyone without an umbrella. Wondering if he'll get to have a manga moment with them.

While Sanzu was in tenjiku he kept his hands in his pockets a lot. This was to hide the way he'd clench his fists whenever they mentioned taking Mikey down.

One time, after the Kawata twins learnt about the classic trope of twins switching places for a day they decided to try it. Despite their obvious differences they were so sure it was going to work too (it did not work).

Inui once called Shinichiro big brother by accident, Shinichiro was thrilled.

Shion couldn't read the room when it came to South, he thought they were good friends.

Rindou had a teddy bear as a kid that he was super attached to, so attached that he still has it (it's hidden in his room). Ran still teases him about it.

When Benkei's training people in the gym he can seem a bit loud and aggressive but he's actually very supportive, cheering people on and practising them to help with their motivation (he's just very enthusiastic).

In the good timeline Ran thinks signing a few pieces of paper for a few minutes count as a full days work.

Kazutora despises any kind of violence against women, it actually reminds him of the situation with his mother. So because of this he always steps in to beat the guys up stop the situation. (In the good timeline this actually causes problems between him and Senju since he frequently steps into her fights).

Yuzuha can hold her alcohol very well, Hakkai thinks this is unfair (he's more of a lightweight)

Kazutora secretly talks to the animals at the pet shop, telling them about his day.

Baji went to visit Sanzu in the hospital after the incident, he brought him magazines to try and cheer him up.

South doesn't understand the concept of a water fight, will start punching

Kakucho wasn't sure of his birthday so Izana assigned him one

Taiju hates hospitals, they just remind him of his mother and her death.

Hanma has stolen Kisaki's glasses to try on before (and did a Kisaki impression while wearing them)

During the good timeline Sanzu hinted he wanted a pet once. He was thinking like a dog or maybe a cat but Senju got him a hamster. He still ended up loving the little guy

Chifuyu was kicked out of a library once for having such a loud reaction to a twist in a book.

It actually took a long time for Wakasa's friends to figure out what he's scared of. They tried testing him with lots of different things and actually gave up before a house centipede just so happened to crawl by, scaring Wakasa.

Kisaki has yelled at Hanma for eating and leaving crumbs on his bed many times.

Sometimes while sleeping at school, Mikey will talk in his sleep (Draken always glares at the other students and teachers if they dare turn around to look at Mikey)

When Mochi's grocery shopping he normally gets asked by people to reach things on the higher shelves, he always gets them what they need.

Mitsuya has a few burn scars on his hands from where he learnt to cook at a young age and made a few mistakes

The first few times Rindou decided to drive his bike, Ran forced him to wear a helmet. (Ran said he didn't need one though, only Rindou)

Mucho didn't actually give Sanzu his jacket, he just let him borrow it. But then didn't have the heart to ask for it back when he saw how much Sanzu loved it.

Appearance: A 5,8" girl with long curly red hair. Due to Vil being her primary hairdresser growing up her curls are managed very well. If Molly's hair gets wet it becomes very frizzy and tangled. When in public they are the epitome of Vil's daughter. Perfect hair, perfect style, and perfect makeup. In private they are geared up in overalls and rain boots to take care of the cows.

Personality: Hotheaded and petty, inherited from both parents. Molly is a sweet girl who is a celebrity darling. She loves relaxing by getting muddy and being in the elements. Molly loves playing guitar and singing. Molly struggles to choose which parent to spend time with. She's always been attached to her mother's hip since birth but as she's gotten older she spends more time with Vil. Her brother Hans is the same. Her cute straight-faced brother is fun to tease.

Backstory: The eldest child of two. Molly has had her parents and the public's attention longer. As a child, she was a wild child who ran and played in the dirt. That's why her parents call her Wildflower.

Molly owns two fluffy mini-cows named Cashmere and Velvet. They are treated like goddesses and are dressed in designer clothes.

Molly discovered the joys of fame that she got from having a famous dad and chose to take part. After taking the world by storm as a child actor she joined an idol group. Her group exploded in popularity but there was one problem.

Neve LeBlanche was placed front and center with her. Neve and Molly inherently their fathers' rivalry and the fans love it. Neve the Ice Princess and Molly the Wildfire have created a fanbase constantly battling for their favorite. Molly hates Neve's cold personality and hates it more that they were put in the same school and class.

When Hans was born Molly was instantly attached. Hans was exactly what she asked for. Molly believed that Hans was left by fairies when he was born.

Molly has a large friend group with Jade's son, Epel's daughter, and Leona's son sometimes. She is closest to Rook's son because they are family friends. Unfortunately she and Regent have a "complicated relationship" because he's a fan boy pretending to be a playboy.

sure, I’ve been hoarding these for too long anyway so here:

he refuses to buy a touch screen phone and prefers to stick w a flip phone which he decorated w dumb stickers and a crab charm that was a souvenir from ranpo

occasionally steals chuuyas card to buy random things just to b a menace, he bought a tablet w it and mainly uses it to play rhythm games and lets kyouka and kenji borrow it sometimes so they can play too

enjoys going on walks alone especially in the morning or after it rains

listens to jazz music at home when he’s feeling nostalgic and eventually decided to indulge in getting a record player (which was also bought w chuuyas card)

knows a lot of random facts about the sea and likes to tell atsushi abt them sometimes but he usually plays it off like he’s super casual abt them (he’s not, the hyperfixation had been running deep for years and he has yet to shake it off fully)

idc if he was an emo murderer at fifteen, I think he liked to watch disney princess movies and enjoyed reading fairy tales cuz he’s silly like that

low key wants a cat but doesn’t think he has it in him to take care of one (but if he did he’d name it koko which is short for who knows what he’d nvr tell)

gen prefers to dress more modestly cuz he finds it comforting and he’s always cold so layers r a must for him anyway

im in kakariko and WAH koko and cottla still pray to their mom every day and their dad joins them...but they can't get to the actual cemetery bc of the ruins >:( and "rpincess zelda" said not to go near them. it is driving me crazy that i cant so this quest!!

i googled and apparently this quest involves the business with the Fifth Sage so i have to hold off for now :/ SUUUUCKS gonna collect some korok seeds and then find something else to do

oh wow that interactive map got a BIG upgrade. i can just ask it where certain items are now lol

I FOUND? THEIR MOMS? JOURNAL??? oh my god in the kakariko well.......

she had a garden down here 😭 she lists all their favorite foods......

theres a korok seed at the cemetery, so i went the long way around and left a silent princess for her. i'm gonna come back and get the rest later when the main quest takes me here

i knew there'd have to be a fifth sage, but a whole quest AND dungeon...that's pretty amazing!! i wonder if we get a 5th companion...zelda as a ghost companion would be SICK but i know nintendo would Never

Bruv rauru is dangerouly, his arm is jus ta fraction. Sonia mother figure to zelda? Im glad. Im still thinking about the 10.000 years ago figure on the sheikah war against the calamity ganon. Green tunic as i wear now, but the red...

Their ears were really big in the past. It mustve been really long ago since we've got much smaller ears nowadays. And referencing Sonia in this case

Its the second time ive arrived in kakariko. This time the knowledge of this puppet zelda has been figured out and so the research can go on. I myself am pretty fond of these rylics. Though as i am the only one to be able to get them... it provides pressure.. im glad some of the sky islands in which i thought nothing of note was to be found. Still had some use.wortsworth and i had a good conversation about this matter and i gave him two. Now im on to research the rings. After that i should go get the last dragon tear geogliphe. What is it that really just happend to zelda, time travel can have her be really anywhere.

Tauro is the reason i came headfirst to kakariko the first time. I had no particular reason to get to kakariko at that time. But it was a nice detour as it was southward towards the gerudo's. I still wonder why his cloth is such a small size and yet he still wears it. Funny seeing him next to all others. Despite that him being a genius was an amazing discovery. Im truly surrounded by geniuses, may zelda return again.

I'm still in kaariko, i think the researches are looking at me crazy. But im really not that in a hurry for researching. The fact is i havent been here in so long even koko grew so much more. I went around town and found the sunflowers. Then i heard in the shop of nana being sick. The sisters running the shop seemed sleep deprived. It made me sick to my stomache so i hurried to see them. And indeed its because of miasma. I just dont have the milk to create some ricepap. I hope ill find it soon so i can help. But ill need to go to hateno then. I guess ill do the rings research before i go then..

All these people from lurelin all intergrated in central hyrule and around. Im scared to see what happend to the people. I will never forget the first time i learned how to make paella from them. It was delicious. And it was with

Instead of this time i didint hear zelda nor did i see her ib my hallinucion. Itscared me more then when i saw her alone standing there. Where is she. Is she wiped aroind from this eart in this tiem line. She is written in all stoen tablets. Its daunting now. Im headed out, towards hateno since its close by the research center tauro is headed to. Now i build a car, and it was raining and it drove away without me. Drastically i ran after it. It fell into the water iand i fell along. It became a boat :D. I got fish! So it had something positive. Next to that i found a ruin at the end of the river.

Korok, i thoyght lemme do it this once before i go in the under cave. Boom the korok talke dfor the first time not taunting me. It said there was skemthign koing on in kork woods. I went there once and i xouldnt get past the purple fog at all. I found hestu a few days later in the main place. And then this? Saying its weird is true. Il be going there when its on the route. Or just go to hestu bcs i would like to have a plan. Now i went back to the route towards hateno and i ahevnt been here so lonh while it was the plac ei went 103i2o29292x times. Its so good so tsee it agajn. It wad the first stable i went to too! Tho im very mad at the spirit of the goron it broke my car.

I spend my day towards kakariko, ofcourse i helped my dear korok i found along the way. As they once more warned me for the strangeness in the korok woods. It made me think as i continued my journey to hateno. Last time i found korok's they never spoke to me of issues, they only teased. Yet this time there is actually soemthing wrong! Could the korok tree be in danger.. or did malicious zelda puppet have been of influence. At least hestu is safe. I should go by still. Oh well i arrived in hateno.

Its my first night in the hotel, and i have seen alot of hateno's change. Loose of the known school which is great. I even went by my previous house which is TO MY SURPRISE zelda's. I say in a perspecfive from outside. But then i found a surprise in the well. My old... elastic... thing. Anyway. Went trough alot. Brother i wen ttrough that thing with them 100 years ago shit and and the thing from a few years ago man. I foudn a note, my clothing is left in the throne room. Yet i dont really dare going back.. especcialy after that last encounter with the ghost of ganondorf. I have never eaten so much. Although i just needed 3 times to understand his strategy. The first time he made the miasma spread was very scary... well at least i survived. Esp when them champions arrived. Now to hateno. I found the legend of cece ive been hearing all over. Her clothings are very nice, i helped her out with the mayor voting selection. I even helped them out getting some cheese. The moemnt i had that cheese i made the most beuaitufl pizza. Well, further than that i helped the kakariko grannie, havent seen the sister come by hateno tho. I finished by helping out in hsitroy and cooocking class.. it was a nice few days hideout. Now on to the last dragontear, and finding out where zelda truly is.. ill go to the rings with tauro after. Ill also try to free lurelin, the afterhought off all these people from lurelin in hateno even reminding me of it. Its been long enough.

Mikey walked in to your apartment to find you asleep on the couch, he was supposed to come over earlier but completely lost track of the time. You woke up to the sound of the door closing and met Mikey’s eyes. “Hi.” You mumble sleepily. “Hey baby, I’m sorry I’m late.”

You shake your head, “don’t worry about it.” You stand up and walk towards Mikey to greet him, softly pressing a kiss to his lips.

Mikey takes a closer look at you now that you stand in front of him, only now realizing that you are wearing his shirt. You walk towards your kitchen. “I made us food, come on.”.

You look behind you to see Mikey staring at you. “What’s wrong?” Mikey breaks out of his trance by hearing your voice. “You’re wearing my shirt.” You look down, a blush spreading on your cheeks. “Yeah, sorry. You left it here the other day and it’s comfy so I put it on.” He stands in front of you now, “Don’t say sorry. I like it on you, it’s cute.”

You and Draken decided to go on a small vacation while he was actually free. The two of you were currently sitting on the balcony of your hotel room, watching the sun set and enjoying your last evening there.

The air was getting colder and you shivered. “I’m gonna grab something to put on, I’m getting cold.”

Draken nodded and you disappeared inside. A few moments later you walked back on the balcony.

Draken looked up at you and raised his eyebrow. “I don’t think that hoodie belongs to you.” You seated yourself next to him again. “it doesn’t, it belongs to my boyfriend who doesn’t mind lending his warm hoodie to his cold girlfriend.” Draken laughed.

“How can I say no to that.” He mumbled before pressing his lips against yours.

You were visiting Mitsuya at his place. Both of you were standing in the kitchen trying to make yourselves and his sisters something to eat.

“Babe, come taste this, please.” You walked over to Mitsuya and grabbed the spoon out of his hand so you could taste the sauce. Before the spoon even touched your lips, it slipped out of your hand, landing on your shirt.

You groan loudly and throw Mitsuya a dirty look when he starts laughing. “This is one of my favorite shirts.” You whine while pouting.

“Don’t worry, let’s get you in one of my shirts so we can wash yours.” You smile and follow Mitsuya in his room. Mitsuya rummages through his closet and throws you a shirt. You quickly put it on and throw him a big smile. “Thank you.”

"You look pretty good" He mumbled before patting your head.

Baji and you are watching a movie on his bed, both enjoying each other’s company. After a while you stand up to use the bathroom but Baji’s voice stops you from exiting the room.

“Are you on your period babe?” you give Baji a confused look. “Yeah, why?”

“You bled through your pants.” “oh.” Your face heats up in embarrassment and quickly look at his bed, you’re happy to see that there is no blood there.

Baji walks to his closet and takes something out before walking to you and handing you a pair of sweatpants. You hide your face in his chest and mumble “I’m so embarrassed.” A soft laugh escapes Baji’s mouth and he wraps his arms around you.

“Don’t be. Now go change so we can watch our movie.” You nod and escape his room. When you walk back into his room after getting cleaned up, you cuddle close to Baji. “Your sweatpants are comfy.” You whisper while looking up at him. “yeah? Then you can keep them.”

You woke up and glanced beside you, seeing Chifuyu still soundly asleep. Quietly you step out of bed, grabbing his shirt from the floor and putting it on.

You walk downstairs to your kitchen and quietly start making pancake batter. Just as your flipping the last pancake you feel two arms wrap around your waist.

Chifuyu buries his face in your neck and mumbles a good morning. You turn the stove off and turn around in his arms. “good morning baby, did you sleep well?” He nods “ I slept amazing, what about you?” “I also slept great.”

You step out of his embrace and start setting the table. It’s only then that Chifuyu notices that you’re wearing something that belongs to him.

“You’re wearing my shirt.” You laugh. “Yes I am, it was the first thing I found and it smells like you so I like it.” “I like it too, it looks good on you.”

When you were getting dressed this morning, you put a shirt from kazutora on, one that he left at your place a while ago.

You and kazutora planned to have lunch together, you were meeting kazutora at his place so you could go there together.

Once you arrived at his place, you knock on the door. Not even a minute later kazutora opens it. He grins when he sees you and gives you a quick kiss. “Hey, Are you ready?” Kazutora nods his head. “yeah, just gotta put my shoes on and then I’m ready.”

Once kazutora’s shoes are on, the two of you are out the door and walking to your destination. Kazutora glances over to you as you’re walking and laughs. “You know that it’s not nice to steal things, right?” You’re confused for a second until you realize you’re wearing his shirt. “I did not steal this, you left it at my place.

And you clearly don’t miss it because I haven’t heard you talking about this missing shirt.” Kazutora laughs at your words. “Well, if it’s so clear that I don’t miss it then you should keep it.”

Koko and you were soundly asleep in his bed, until you woke up because you were cold. You quietly slipped out of bed and took on of his hoodies out of his closet, slipping it on and crawling back in bed with him.

When koko woke up in the morning he turned to look at you. A smile spread on his face when he saw that you’re wearing one of his hoodies.

The hood of his hoodie was covering a bit of your face, and it looked way too big for you but that made it even more cute for koko.

He quietly grabbed his phone and snapped a picture of you sleeping in his hoodie. When he looked at the picture he smiled and mumbled, “She’s so cute.”

You and izana where laying on his bed, both scrolling through your phones. It was quiet between the two of you, every once in a while one of you would laugh about something on your phone and show it the other one but that was it.

After a while you let your phone fall down beside you and sit up. “Can I wear one of your hoodies?” Izana looks your way at the sound of your voice. “Sure, you know where they lay.”

You stand up from Izana's bed and walk over to his closet, scanning the clothes before choosing a hoodie to wear.

Once the hoodie is pulled over your head, you turn back around facing Izana. He’s looking at you with a big smile on his face. “Cute.” You laugh and show him your hands, or more like the sleeves of his hoodie that are hiding your hands.

“it’s too big.” He laughs “Come here.” You walk back over to him and sit in front of him. Izana takes your arm in his hands and rolls up your sleeves. “ Now they’re not too big anymore.” You smile brightly at him and press a kiss to his cheek. “Thanks baby.”

Ran and you arrive at his place soaking wet. The two of you decided to take a walk but once you arrived at the park it started raining.

You glance over at Ran and laugh loudly. “Well, that was a fun little walk, wasn’t it?” Ran joins your laughter, “it sure was.”

You take you shoes and jacket off and follow Ran to his room. “Let me grab you some dry clothes so that you can take a shower.”

You nod and once he has given you some of his clothes you disappear into the bathroom. After a twenty minute shower you’re standing in Ran’s room again, Ran’s already lying on his bed and looks up when you enter the room.

“You look cute.” You laugh and cuddle next to him on the bed. “your clothes are warm. I’m keeping these.” Ran raises his eyebrow at you, “I don’t think so, they are mine. You gotta give them back to me once your clothes are dry.”

You shake your head. “nope, I’m not giving them back.” “Are you sure about that?” You nod and before you know it Ran starts tickling you, only stopping when you promise him to give his clothes back later. But little did he know,he's gonna end up giving you his clothes more often now.

Let's Talk About NatsuMikan: Natsume (pt. 20)

PART TWENTY! I've written thousands and thousands of words about this particular character's love. That's really crazy. And you guys read thousands and thousands of words! And we're not even done yet!

We will talk about the second half of this "gap arc", including one of my favorite chapters, and then the school will turn upside down, as we will see in the next part.

Chapter Ninety-Three

Mikan was so exhausted saving Narumi from Persona’s alice that she ended up hospitalized. Nobody else seems to know much of what really happened except Natsume, who spends so much time in the hospital these days that it would have been more surprising if he didn’t know she was there too.

Besides, Natsume knows so much about Mikan. He knows about her mom and that the ESP is interested in Mikan possibly possessing the stealing alice. He knows that she’s in danger. He’s vigilant, as I’ve said, and this vigilance means absorbing all possible information. He overhears Narumi warning Mikan to keep her new alice a secret, and Natsume gets confirmation that Mikan does indeed have the stealing alice, that Narumi knows and wants to protect Mikan too, and that this information could possibly get to the ESP if they’re not careful.

Dead man walking. Or rather... dead boy walking.

He walks away from her room, unseen, coughing. He walks down a hall of doctors and patients and nurses and he doesn’t stand out at all. Natsume’s presence in the hospital is so normal that nobody bats an eye anymore. Kaname is hospitalized for long stretches of time, as we shall continue to see, but Natsume merely goes to the hospital for limited periods of bed rest and for getting huge bags of medicine to take before bed so he doesn’t accidentally pass away in his sleep. Natsume might be in just as much need as Kaname for long periods of hospitalization, but he can’t for two reasons.

One, the school absolutely does not want that. They want their favorite child soldier to be always at the ready. He can’t be at their beck and call at all times if he’s cooped up in a hospital bed. He needs to be where they can grab him easily, and pumping him full of medicine and pretending that’s enough for him is the most they will do.

Two, Natsume absolutely does not want that. Mikan is in more danger than ever, and being sequestered in a hospital without seeing anyone leaves her alone and unprotected. How is he supposed to spy on the ESP and Persona for information on Mikan if he’s hospitalized? He needs to be free as a bird, just like they want him to be, so that he can be at Mikan’s beck and call. At the slightest threat, he will be there for her.

Later, when Bear follows Mikan around while Kaname is sicker than ever, Koko can discern that Bear wants Mikan to steal Kaname’s alice from inside of him. Many people are onlooking, and Natsume has a shocked expression, not because he didn’t know that Mikan has the stealing alice, but because he’s concerned for what consequences may come if more people find out. If the ESP comes to hear any of this, serious issues will arise. Things are already dangerous enough, but if the ESP finds out, then turmoil will come sooner than later.

This is an "Oh, shit" moment! How terrible.

Things get worse when the rumors about Mikan’s alice spread through the upper divisions. Mikan gets chased by upperclassmen who want her to steal their alices because they think their star rank will go up if they can catch her in the act. The ESP seems to have purposefully spread such a rumor in order to speed things along. He wants to push Mikan into a corner, perhaps force her into using her alice and exposing herself, so that he has an excuse to swoop in and take her into his custody.

We see a panel of Natsume hearing the news of the middle schoolers’ pursuit of Mikan and he’s just as shocked as before. Her life is endlessly hectic in the worst way. She is always under attack from rumors and speculation and being honest about her alice will only end poorly for her. This is the last glimpse we get of him this chapter, but his reactions, despite the fact that he says nothing this whole time, is enough to give hints to where his mind is right now. His priorities and concerns are all made clear, building up to when he will eventually be quite needed.

Chapter Ninety-Four

Class B is getting ready for swimming lessons in P.E. Most of the class, especially Mikan, are excited for this.

There’s not much Natsume in this chapter either, but we can see him on the poolside, obviously not well enough to swim. Swimming is one of the most physically taxing exercises because of how much it requires you to use your full body. Natsume can’t waste what little energy he has on P.E. when he has missions to do. Those are much more important.

Mikan may get occasionally down or sad about her alice and the uncomfortable state of things, but Ruka is there to cheer her up and play water polo with her. Natsume simply looks on.

Tsubasa spots him, and instantly looks troubled. He and Natsume are not just both in the DA class now, they’re also going on many of the same missions. He’s also the only one who knows the truth about Natsume’s alice shape, and how much the taxing missions affect his body. Seeing Natsume sit on the side and not join in with the others is not a good sign. He’s not doing well.

Fun and games are over! It was never gonna last long anyway!

The panel of everyone having fun while Natsume coughs by himself, isolated from everyone, brings to mind the page from Chapter Nine, so long ago. The last page of that chapter has Natsume being sent on a mission, in stark contrast to the final panel of the rest of the class having fun and bonding over dodgeball.

He could never join in for long was the message we got then, and it’s not any less true now. Natsume let himself get attached to Class B and to Mikan in particular but his fun happy times of joining in on the fun were never meant to last. He can’t play the sax anymore. He can’t run around with the rest of them. Luna was a warning to him as much as she was to Mikan. His time is running out and his life will always be too different from the rest of theirs. He will always be shrouded in darkness and an imminent death. They can take occasional breaks from the stress and worry of their lives, but he can’t. Not anymore. Not in any real way. Not without it taking a serious toll on his body.

The last page features two groups of best friends: Natsume and Ruka looking out the window at Hotaru and Mikan as they walk through the rain.

Bad things are going to happen. And that right soon.

There’s a feeling of foreboding in this arc. The last page carries some threat with it while also trying to stay on the side of hope. One should not take things for granted is the main take-away, a harsh lesson for these kids to learn, especially in this way.

These few chapters between the Sports Fest and the next arc are almost similar to the gap chapters between the Hana Hime den chapters and the Sports Fest. They are a much needed respite from the heavy chapters before and after. The difference is that these gap chapters are heavier and there’s a threat looming over Mikan and the others in each one. The happiness and lightness of the Valentine’s day chapter are not present, even in this sweet chapter about swimming. Everyone is unsettled and disturbed, aware that something horrible is to come.

Chapter Ninety-Five

And nothing good ever lasts, as this chapter reveals. The tension that has been building for so long is starting to reach a boiling point.

A lot will happen here. Hotaru gets called to the headquarters. Yuka returns to the Alice Academy campus to find Mikan. Tsubasa goes missing.

God, could they stop sending children to get blown up for FIVE MINUTES?!

Natsume and Tsubasa are separated during a nondescript mission. A warehouse explodes and Natsume screams out for Tsubasa, not knowing where he’s disappeared to, or if he’s even still alive.

Tsubasa is missing, his location unknown. Natsume has returned to campus from the mission, but he hasn’t been seen by anybody yet either. He’s busy trying to locate Tsubasa, trying to find information.

Natsume goes on missions all the time. He goes with other DA types and is frequently in life or death situations with them. That being said, he hates most of his classmates, Youichi being one exception. But Tsubasa is different. They have an unspoken respect for each other, and might even be considered friends. They spent a lot of time in the DA class on missions that we haven’t seen in the manga and their work to find--or rather not find--Yuka and protect Mikan has probably brought them closer.

Natsume wants to find Tsubasa because he’s so important to Mikan, because she loves him like a big brother and losing him would break her. He wants to find Tsubasa because Tsubasa is his friend too. If something happened to him on a mission they went on together, then it’s his responsibility to bring him back, and he might even feel guilty for his disappearance as well. Knowing what we do about Natsume’s self-esteem, martyr complex, and tendency to blame himself for everything, he is probably not taking this very well.

It’s exciting and nerve-wracking to see so many people involved in this chapter, but seeing as everything’s coming to a head, many of the characters narratively have to be involved.

Nobara, who discovers that Narumi plans to run away with Mikan to keep her safe from what’s to come, is soon after made aware that she will be blessed with a friend in the DA class: Mikan. Nobara and Natsume do not get along, but so far she’s been diligent in communicating with him about information she discovers that he would not otherwise find out. There’s no way she wouldn’t try to reach out to him, which explains why he knows about it.

Natsume has been mainly absent from the chapter, and from school as well. Nobody has seen him, because he’s too busy trying to find Tsubasa. But it’s nighttime now and everyone is going to sleep. The rumors about Tsubasa’s disappearance are all around the school and he knows that Mikan knows by now. And she’s all alone.

So he takes a break from all the work he has to do to go and comfort her. He cannot leave her alone, even if he originally planned on it.

He appears in her window and she rushes to him. She asks him questions, about where he’s been and all those wounds on his body, but he didn’t come here to talk about what happened to him. He’s here for her. He confesses that he hadn’t wanted to see anyone until he’d found Tsubasa safe and sound, but he had to see her, fearing that she was crying on her own.

They're both sad. They're each other's comfort.

Natsume knows Mikan, that she frequently acts fine even if she’s suffering. Her resilience and determination are great traits, and it’s easy to get lost in the illusion that she should always be bubbly and optimistic and smiling, but even a girl like Mikan needs to let it out sometimes. Finding out that someone you love is missing is not easy, and smiling in the face of that is not something that even Mikan can do all the time. She needs comfort, and Natsume wants to be there for her.

He’s wanted this the whole time, deep down, to be someone she could rely on, someone who could comfort her, and now he’s the only one who can. All the things he’s wanted to do for her this whole time: to comfort her, to tell her it’ll be okay, to hug her. He does it all because after all they’ve been together, she knows now that he’s someone she can rely on.

She’s crying, and she admits that she couldn’t stop even if she wanted to, because she has to cry in Natsume’s place.

Natsume came to comfort her, yes, but he’s been through a lot too. He also cares about Tsubasa and has been suffering on his own for even longer. He also needs comfort, and because he won’t let himself cry, she’ll do it for him. Mikan can see that he can’t afford to not be perfectly composed all the time. She’s thinking of him, too, and it must be nice to be seen so clearly by somebody he loves.

She knows that he's close to Tsubasa too, even if he won't admit it. THEY'RE EACH OTHER'S COMFORT.

He tells her he will find Tsubasa, and “about her too”, which means he’s letting her know he’s taking care of her. He will keep an eye out and try to keep her safe. He’s hinting that he knows about her other alice, and that he’s on top of it. He has to go now, but his farewell--his promise--is his final way of comforting her for the night. She doesn’t need to worry too much about Tsubasa or what will happen with the school, because he will fix it all. He will protect her.

Conclusion

There's something looming over the kids at the academy. Something really bad is going to happen, and everyone seems somewhat aware at this point. Natsume is at the ready for the slightest threat to Mikan, and he will finally be able to spring into action in the next edition of this already-too-long essay.

So... This is the twentieth part. If I'm to guess, I'd say there's not going to be another ten parts to make it to thirty, but I might be wrong, depending on how long my analysis gets in the last parts of the manga. As I post this, I'm about fifty chapters ahead (which sounds impressive but actually isn't considering the Time Travel Arc has groups of entire chapters that I had to skip). Maybe it'll get to something like twenty-eight but I'm not sure about thirty. We'll see. Once upon a time I thought it'd be forty, even! No, not Natsume's. Mikan's, maybe, but not Natsume's.

Cold and rainy days were always your favorite, especially when they fell on a weekend. You always pulled a chair to the biggest window in your apartment, wrapped yourself up in a big blanket and watched the dark clouds roll in until Peter woke up. But he was on official Avenger business and had no clue when he was coming home, so instead, you spent your morning curled up on the couch watching a cheesy rom-com and sipping hot chocolate.

It was hours later when you finally woke up, only to immediately realize you must have spilled your hot chocolate on yourself while sleeping. You went to the bathroom and turned on the shower, hoping by the time you were done loading the washer the water would be warm enough.

The bathroom mirror was already foggy by the time you were done, so you turned on your shower playlist and got in. Letting the hot water wash over you, your mind drifted to Peter. Did he cut his hair while he was on a mission again? Was he getting enough sleep? What pop culture references was he using and did any of them piss Tony off?

You were too lost in your thoughts to notice the bathroom door open and shut, and too into the music to hear Peter undress and step into the shower. He then wrapped his arms around you and kissed up your shoulder, “This is why I want a dog, babe.”

If you had been expecting him, you wouldn’t have screamed and almost slipped because you were scared out of your mind. Thankfully, Peter and his quick reflexes caught you before you hit the floor. “Why? Because you can’t announce yourself like a normal human being?”

Peter had been trying to convince you to get a dog for months now. Truth be told, you wanted one, but you couldn’t have pets in your apartment and the lease wasn’t up for another six months. Did that stop him from begging for one though? Of course not.

1. Fic you spent the most time on: Omertà hands down. Wow that fic... I mean, just posting it took 10 months. And I started writing it way before I posted the first chapter so, I think I spent about a year and some change on it.

2. Fic you spent the least time on: So This is Christmas. I was a pinch hitter for an Irondad Secret Santa. I got this one written in a few hours due to the deadline.

3. Longest Fic: Again, Omertà. The final word count on this bad boy is 154,668. 30 chapters. It was supposed to be 10 chapters and about 50,000 words. That did NOT happen.

4. Shortest Fic: I Like Oatmeal. The word count is 652 and it is easily the shortest thing I’ve ever written so far. This was just a fun little crack fic that broke me into the Merlin fandom.

5. Most hits: In all honesty, this is a very difficult one to answer because as far as I can tell, FFN does not record hits very well. My two highest fics for Ao3 are Omertà with 8008 to date, and You are in Control, I Disappear with 5450 to date (but it’s porn, so surprise, surprise.) On FFN, the fic with the highest hits (if I did my month-by-month math right) is The Trouble with Gossip (using the Ao3 link) with 6102 hits to date .

6. Most kudos: Omertà again. Really, y’all should read it. It’s pretty good. ;-)

7. Most comment threads/ reviews: Want to guess? You got it! It’s Omertà! You all are so smart. :-)

No, seriously, that’s a really hard question. I love them all and for very different reasons. So I’ll pick one that I haven’t mentioned yet. I’ll say Bear the Burden of Responsibility, which was the fic that broke me into the MCU/Spider-Man fandom (I’d been reading for forever, but this was the first one I wrote). It also was my intro to Irondad and Spiderson, which has been SO fun to write, and the community has been fantastic to be part of, in my opinion.

9. Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: Hmm. Well, I’m already expanding on it, just slowly. I have a series called Take My Heart With You which is kind of an alternate reality/alternate universe series for Merlin. It mainly focuses on the gap between seasons 3 and 4, and events in season 4, but there is a relationship between Merlin and Percival that I’m playing around with. I also am touching on the friendship Merlin has with Gwen, so there may be elements from previous seasons added soon. I actually really enjoy that one, but I’ve lacked inspiration for it, so I haven’t been writing much in this universe lately.

Love Runs Deeper than Blood

***SPOILERS! FOR MY READERS WHO WANT TO WAIT UNTIL I POST, SCROLL UNTIL YOU SEE THE NEXT BOLD TEXT!***

“Tarkik.”

“No.”

“Koko.”

“Hmm, maybe.”

“Nanouk?”

Kyra laughed, bouncing the baby boy on her knee. “You have great love for that name,” she said, grinning. Bato shrugged, wiggling his fingers at the boy and making him giggle.

When he brought the child to Kyra, she broke down in tears before immediately thanking the Great Spirits. She fell in love with his soft hair and golden eyes, and she held him like she could never let him go. Bato understood. He was like that with the boy the whole journey back.

“It’s a good, strong, water tribe name,” Bato defended, grinning. “What about Toklo? For your father?”

“My brother was named for my father already,” Kyra replied. “Maybe Tonraq?”

Bato made a face. “No,” he replied, shaking his head.

“Why not?”

“When I went Ice Dodging, the boy manning the main sail was named Tonraq. He’s the reason I have a scar on my boat,” Bato said, darkly. Kyra laughed.

“Well, there’s always Soomool,” she offered. Bato shrugged. They had been going over names for two days now. Even Kya and Hakoda offered input, with baby Sokka in tow. The new boy was fascinated with the chief’s son. Bato hoped they would become good friends. Kyra handed the boy to him and he lifted him up so their noses could touch. The boy went a little cross-eyed, making Bato laugh.

“You know what his eyes remind me of?” he asked Kyra.

“The sun?” she asked, grinning.

Bato shook his head. “No. Well, yes, I suppose. But they look like the sky during a storm, when lightning strikes.”

“You mean when the sky turns to gold for a moment?” Kyra asked, thoughtfully. Bato nodded. Kyra hummed in thought.

“What about Kallik?”

*** OKAY ALL CLEAR***

Story Idea - Spider-Man Villain/Anti-Hero AU:

Plot: What if Peter stopped the convenience store thief instead of letting him run away? Uncle Ben is still alive, and that major guilt he felt that acted as a catalyst for him to become Spider-Man and look out for the little guy isn’t there anymore. Instead Spidey is a wrestler, then a “hero” who asks for donations to his paypal, and then a mercenary. All his bad guys are now neutral contacts, and he frequently teams up with DP, Moon Knight, and Black Cat (among others), working for cold, hard cash. He drives Iron Man crazy, he baffles Captain America, and Black Widow has a soft spot for him (because she gets that double life).

It’ll be fun when I get to writing it. I’ve got some semblance of an outline. ;-)
