Jaune Not from Remnant He's from louisiana usa and somehow wound up there. He now has to pretend he's always been there while being forced to become a huntsman Do not give up his secret. How does he solve the Is the grimm problem Easy redneck Engineering he makes a fucking tank.

I don't think tanks exist in Remnant Which is really weird cause you don't need Huntsman to operate them. And i'm pretty sure they could fuck up any grimm just about Like the main Canon could take out heavily armored opponents. The .50 bmg Takes out smaller ones.

I'm... not sure how to approach this one. Like, the premise is neat, but Jaune being from Louisiana is already a wild concept. By this logic, not only does Jaune not have aura, but likely never will, nor will he have a semblance. Not to mention that Jaune doesn't really strike me as the mechanical engineer type, granted his growing up in LA could change his personality just a tinge. Personally, if I was going to make Jaune from down that way, I'd make him a chef, whipping up some delicious rice and shrimp into a gumbo, though I'm not really an expert on what does on in the southeastern US.

As for the presence of tanks, I will agree that it is odd, but one thing to consider is that RWBY has kind of evolved past tanks. Maybe in the Great War there were tanks, but in the current era with hard-light shields, automaton soldiers, and walking mechs, RWBY has probably gone Metal Gear and evolved their weaponry to an era beyond fuel and low-impact bullets. It kinda makes sense since you've got huge, armored Grimm running around, like Ursa, Beowolves, and Beringels. Heck, the armor might even be too thick for mortar fire.

But yeah, this is a neat AU, though it might need a little tweaking. Jaune being a redneck engineer from Louisiana and building tanks seems just a WEE BIT out of character for him. Now, if it was Ruby, that'd be different, since she's already a gun nut.

Though, I remember a couple stories from this ask. The first one that comes to mind is an OLD RWBY AU idea I had about Jaune being an investigative journalist lost in the bayou with Ruby (Bayou AU). Another was an incorrect quote from Far Cry 6, which led a little bit into Jaune and Ruby making plans for a tank he made a long time ago. I dunno, those are just some ideas I had.

The idea of him talking to team RWBY dolls for years is hilarious.

Everyone is so fluid at the little cafe, the animation is great this volume.

Once again the tree is referred to as a character and a person not a tree.

And yeah jaune has definitely gone nuts, his outburst confirms that.

And neo attacks, and i feel like something was cut there from what Wiess said but oh well, fight scene is awesome.

And then the problem.

That clock of crescent rose was so juxtaposed I love it.

well power upgrade confirmed.

But that fight was great, my favorite this season. Every beat was matched, each character got enough time, we saw some crazy combos, and Wiess got yeeted like team rocket. Not having ruby in the action leaves a lot of room for other stuff, kinda like it from a visual standpoint.

So ruby's PTSD: yeah that's a thing. And 

And jaunes scream and ensuing breakdown. 

Ruby's losing it yeaaaaah.

This outburst into everyone's faces, i think we're seeing what should have happened in apathy way back in V6. But it's a little strange ruby's just been playing off the bees, after her comment earlier. But then jaunes Talkback, like he's not wrong and i think it's okay he's treating her on more his level, like he's obviously way older than them now, but he's not matured at all, he still sees them as his equals deep down, and he still goes for her, even if he does apologize afterwords.

But let's break that down; Lindsay did a great job btw.

So she goes straight to Wiess, with Jaune and home, then the bees, and the rebuttal from jaunes the height difference the framing of the tears.

Ruby yooooo. 

The shut up, the deeper voice,

The look on everyone's face, blakes ears God it's a good scene. 

And then she flipping flies out.

And the sinking paper in the background.

The concept art for this one looks amazing, this was a really cool location and as much as the paper pleasers were short lived, they funny enough filled Their place in the exposition, and the integration of tales of ever-after stuff Is welcomed. 

alright, I've got a theory cooking so stay tuned for that, guys this is a lore dump ep so it's gonna be a long one.

I've actually already gotten a start on the Mafia one and it's the one I have the most planned out already (ask me about it it's getting hard keeping quiet the shit is wild), but other ideas for WIPs keep popping up and bothering me and I would just ignore them and read something with a similar idea, but the problem is that the ideas are super specific and only a fic with all X, Y, and Z will scratch the itch.

I don't know what I'm doing with the Fallout AU tbh. I think it's going to be Yang-centric because that's who I have the most ideas for what I want to do with, but everyone else is a mystery. Besides a few scenes, I don't really have much of a plot with this one yet, but I don't want to give up on it because it sounds fun.

The Twisted Metal AU - On the otherhand I'm having a blast coming up with ideas for it. I have a solid idea on who would drive what and what their motivations would be and what they'd want. My only concern is that it might be a little too niche, even though Twisted Metal does the whole "It's also a gun" thing too, but with the cars instead of handheld weapons, and people just wouldn't be interested I'm afraid.

The Royalty/Assassin - I've started on and scrapped this one half a dozen times. I have so many ideas, but I might need more planning and sorting before I can commit to it. I think I know what I want the end game to be, but not sure how to get it to come out right.

Supernatural Creatures AU - This is the remnant (Ha, get it?) of an old fic in which Jaune is learning how to hunt supernatural monsters. I wrote this years ago, but never published or even finished. I didn't like how it came out and scrapped it, but I want to salvage some of the ideas from it and give it another go. I was in a bad place when I initially wrote it and life has changed a lot since then. It's going to end up a lot different this time and that's a good thing since the original was no where near my best.

So, uh... here’s an interesting trend I’ve noticed over Volumes 6, 7 and 8:

Volume 6: Ruby uses a big heroic speech to bait Cordovin into taking a shot at here, thus revealing her cannon’s weak-spot for Ruby to take out.

Volume 7: Ruby needles Harriet’s competitive streak in order to bait her into chasing her around for the entire RWBY vs. Ace-Ops fight, thereby keeping Harriet distracted and unable to help her teammates.

One of my favorite things about Control is just how completely and utterly nuts/bonkers/GONE the FBC is as one of these ‘secret government blackops’ groups.

Like this is a trope we’re all fairly familiar with at this point; some secret government organization formed to monitor, contain and research all kinds of weird shit and keep it secret from the public. Also they may or may not have kinda gone totally rogue somewhere along the way and might now answer only to themselves at this point in a ‘who watches the watchers?’ commentary on the need for oversight.

But the more you find out about the Federal Bureau of Control, the more it becomes clear they just so utterly past ANY of that by the time the game begins. And have been for basically the last fifty some odd years.

Like here is a basic overview of the FBC that you learn within the first thirty or so minutes of the game: They are a secret government organization dedicated to the containment, cataloguing and research of supernatural artifacts and events. They are headquartered in what they call ‘The Oldest House’, a tall, imposing yet utterly nondescript building in the middle of New York City that is literally impossible for anyone to enter or even notice unless they already know about it. And the interior of the building is actually a twisting extradimensional labyrinth that also opens up to other dimensions/realities and might actually be the World Tree Yggdrasil. It also kind of hates any technology made in the last twenty years. And apparently Number 2 Pencils.

Oh, and the FBC doesn’t really report to the US Government. They report to a floating, inverted black pyramid that exists in a space outside of known reality that might also be the collective human subconscious. The pyramid is colloquially referred to as ‘The Board’ and they are an extradimensional entity/group of entities that appoints the Director of the FBC via the use of a physics-defying geometric gun called ‘The Service Weapon’ that is probably Excalibur/Mjolnir/every other legendary weapon in human myth. They also speak in word-salads and probably know they are in a video game.

See, back in 1964 when the FBC first discovered The Oldest House, they basically decided ‘WOW, this place is cool! Let’s make it our new headquarters!’ and promptly moved in. This was also when the current Director at the time found the Service Weapon within The Oldest House, made contact with/was chosen by The Board and from the point on the FBC really hasn’t answered to the US Government anymore.

Also, the Government basically doesn’t even know the Bureau even EXISTS anymore. Remember how The Oldest House has this kind of ‘Perception Filter’ that prevents almost anyone from entering it or even noticing it, which is how basically nobody can find it despite the fact that it is right in the middle of New York City? Well, after they moved in and became effective ‘residents’ of the house, this filter started applying to the FBC itself. They basically CAN’T be noticed or remembered at this point by anyone who isn’t part of the organization. The reason this secret organization can operate entirely off the grid and can’t be tracked is because they literally have freaky extradimensional reality-warping covering their tracks.

This is what I meant when I said that the FBC is just so far GONE. At this point, the FBC is itself a crazy, supernatural thing in and of itself.

Other fun details about the FBC include:

The Bureau facilities in The Oldest House are not powered by coal, oil or nuclear power. No, instead the lights are kept on by a former director who went a tad power-mad and lost control of his pyrokinesis, so the Bureau locked him up in a giant ‘Sarcophagus Containment’ unit and now use him as a power-generator.  He also sometimes talks through the waste-disposal furnace to try and get people to bring him human sacrifices.

The maintenance sector of the FBC includes an area called the ‘Black Rock Quarry’. The so called ‘black rock’ is an extra-dimensional mineral that, among other things, blocks and dampens supernatural effects and abilities. Needless to say, the Bureau mines the stuff extensively. Now, despite being within The Oldest House, the Black Rock Quarry is an open-top quarry. To space.

One of the ways Bureau personnel get around is via pull-strings that show up all over The Oldest House. Pull a string three times and you are transported to the Oceanview Motel, a quaint little motel that probably exists outside of known reality because no one has ever been able to actually go or see outside the motel. Once you’re there, you just ring the bell on the front desk three times, do some random task and procure a room key. The key opens a door, but only one with an inverted black pyramid. From there, you pull another string and are transported back to somewhere else in The Oldest House. So basically a rather convoluted teleportation system. There are also doors with other symbols that probably go to other realities, but the Bureau hasn’t figured out how to open them. Though one does seem to lead to a void of malevolent darkness that feeds off human creativity and is currently holding one Alan Wake.

Also, the bureau’s janitor is probably a Finnish Sea God.

One particularly interesting detail I haven’t seen many people talking about is the fact that Ironwood has a prosthetic left arm at the start of Volume 8.

I mean, think about the implications here. Ironwood’s arm was badly injured in his fight with Watts, but it’s not like he actually LOST the arm.

It seriously looks like that in the scant few hours between the end of Volume 7 and the start of Volume 8, Ironwood decided that he wasn’t going to wait for his arm to heal and simply amputated it and had it replaced with another prosthetic.

Ironwood didn’t lose his left arm due to battle or self-sacrifice. He lost it due to his own impatience.

Now in the moment of Volume 8, this is a pretty stark indicator of Ironwood’s villainous turn and how much he’s started dehumanizing those around him. He’s flat out dehumanizing himself.

But in the broader context of Ironwood’s character, I really have to wonder: Is this even the FIRST time Ironwood has done this? Replace part of his body with machinery not out of necessity but out of convenience?

I'm having trouble deciding which RWBY villain would make for a better Lex Luthor. Should it be the CEO, Jacques Schnee, or the general, James Ironwood?

Jacques: (Chuckles) Well, I wouldn't bet against me.

Ren: No, that wouldn't be smart. But I want you to understand something, Mr. Schnee. You need to understand that while I despise you as a human being, what I'm about to do isn't personal.

Jacques: What are you babbling about?

Ren: In every universe, there is a constant, a pattern that cannot be broken. A is A. Apples are apples. And no matter what reality he calls home, Jacques Schnee is, was, and always will be Jacques Schnee. (Stands up) If I'm to save all of Remnant, you need to stop existing. Before you take office.

Jacques: You intend to kill me so your leader can't?

Ren: I may be a crackpot conspiracy nut, but I'm confident my team will long outlive me. (Levels Storm Flower against Jacques' head) And the Atlas Knight will stay the hero.

Jacques: Interesting theory. Unfortunately, though, it's not an option. (Punches Ren)

Ren: (Flies across the room, Hits the wall)

Jacques: (Flexes fist, Walks closer to Ren) Councilman? Foolish, insignificant huntsman. My campaign is a farce. A small part of a much grander scheme.

Ren: (Stands up, Swipes with Storm Flower)

Jacques: (Dodges, Knocks guns away, Chokes him) Councilman? (Slaps Ren twice) Do you realize how much power I'd have to give up to become Councilman? (Tosses him)

Ren: (Crashes into Jacques' desk)

Jacques: (Grabs Ren, Lifts him by his collar) That's right "conspiracy nut". I spent over seventy-five million lien on a fake political campaign. All just to piss the Atlas Knight off. (Smashes Ren into the desk)

Ren: (Groans)

Jacques: (Looms over him, Leans down) Now... About those files you stole from me...

Nuts and Dolts has taken over my brain, so I'm gonna ramble about how I think the RWBY score might be hinting at it being canon

Tldr: I believe that this leitmotif from the score is actually a Nuts and Dolts leitmotif, as it is almost exclusively heard during moments shared by both Ruby and Penny

Ok.

So.

Music in RWBY is something that I don't think I need to explain. Nearly everyone I've met in this fandom loves the music in this show, and I agree! Jeff, Casey, Alex, and everyone else have made some really amazing stuff.

But there's one part of the music I don't really see anyone talk about: the score. The lyricized songs in the soundtrack get the most attention, and understandably so. But the score, the(usually) more orchestral songs that don't have a singer to go with them don't get talked about nearly as much. There's so many cool details hidden in this show's score, and it's honestly a shame.

Now I'm gonna preface the actually important bit of this by saying that I am *very* new to this show. I only started watching a few months after V8 ended, so I haven't had time to actually listen to *every single piece of music* that's come out of this show. I also know absolutely nothing about how to actually *make* music, just that the funny notes give me the happy chemical. But one thing I do know a bit about, from younger me being obsessed with Undertale, is leitmotifs!

So after I had binged through the entire series, I did what I'm pretty sure everyone did: I started listening to the music. And while I was binging through the soundtrack at a possibly unhealthy pace, I stumbled on a Youtuber by the name of Changyuraptor, whose entire channel is dedicated to all the leitmotifs used in the show. They even have a google doc that not only lists all of them, but even keeps track of *when* they play in each episode!

Now Penny is quite possibly my favorite character in the show, and so naturally one the first one of their videos I watched was of Penny's leitmotif, which anyone who's listened to Friend for any extended period of time is familiar with, I'm sure.

And then I saw THIS video. And immediately red flags started going off in my head. Because this clearly was a song that was very clearly associated with Penny, but it was *different* from Penny's leitmotif. Now my very first reaction(mainly because the first scene Changyuraptor chose to show the motif playing in was the Fireflies scene from Chibi, but also that nearly every other scene they showed was one where both Ruby and Penny were together) was that it was a Nuts and Dolts leitmotif and I freaked out a bit, but after a while I calmed down and started disregarding that thought, thinking instead that perhaps this was perhaps just Penny's "old" leitmotif, and they just gave her a new one for her revival.

But then, after a few weeks, and seeing other people list reasons why they thought NnD might actually be canon, those thoughts started to come back and chew away at my sanity. And after a few more weeks I was back to thinking about it actually being a NnD motif, but I also didn't want to jump the gun and say it was. And, because this mystery song played during Penny's reintroduction in V7 before we heard her actual motif for the first time, there was still a part of me that was sceptical. So I decided to do some research.

I decided that I was gonna go back and listen to the score of some of scenes where Penny wasn't with Ruby in Volumes 1-3, and see if I could find this "old" leitmotif in any of them. Now I *could* have gone over *every single scene she's in*, but I instead just chose to go over what I felt were the most emotional scenes where Penny was involved, both because I didn't want to spend too much of my time researching how of two fictional characters are gay for each other, and also because, if this was actually her "old" leitmotif, then it would play during the scenes where she is being important.

So I decided on three scenes in particular. Her introduction in The Stray, her part in the fight against Roman and The White Fang in Black and White, and her fight with Pyrrha in PvP. I decided not to do any of her scenes in V2, since Changyuraptor covered pretty much all the important ones(and also because Penny was pretty much always with Ruby in V2).

In Penny's introduction, we hear... Nothing, actually. Because there's literally no music when we meet Penny for the first time, which is odd since this is literally our first time meeting her.

In the fight with Roman in Black and White, we also don't seem to hear anything matching that song(unless I just didn't catch it, of course), which is also odd since almost always in these fight scenes you'll hear the leitmotif of whatever character is the focus at that time.

In PvP, we also do not hear anything that seems to match with that "old" motif, which is odd both for the above reason of "fight scene", but also because this is where Penny literally DIES! If any leitmotif is meant to represent a particular character, it's practically a REQUIREMENT that that motif should be used when that character meets their end!

So now I feel pretty confident in saying that this is, at the very least, a "Penny and Ruby" leitmotif. It plays in nearly every scene where these two are together, and having some sort of meaningful interaction with each other, including the pretty much explicitly romantic Fireflies scene in RWBY Chibi.

And this is REALLY SIGNIFICANT because, from my admittedly brief time with this show and it's score, it is EXTREMELY RARE for two characters in this show to have a wholly unique leitmotif SPECIFICALLY for their relationship. It's quite common for two characters to *share* a leitmotif (both Blake and Adam's motifs are based off From Shadows), or to have leitmotifs that sound very similar to one another (Raven's leitmotif is nearly identical to Yang's, and Pietro's has the exact same notes as Penny's, just rearranged slightly), but to have a completely separate motif is much less common.

AND, not only is it rare for this to happen, it's also(as far as I know) ONLY been done for characters who either canonically have(or had) romantic feelings for each other, or are family. And on top of that, they actually don't get used very often! These are usually just feel less like a regular part of the score, and more like a reference to the more popular lyrical songs by Jeff and Casey about those relationships (songs like Boop, or All That Matters, for example, have been used so little that Changyuraptor's videos about them are less than two minutes long).

There are really only two other instances(That I know of) where two characters have a unique leitmotif specifically for their relationship that gets used regularly throughout the show. One of which being Blacksun, which, even though they decided to just be friends in the end, was still absolutely a romantic pairing for a while...

And Arkos. The very first canonically confirmed romance we ever saw in this show. A romance that is still important to the story of RWBY, despite the fact that one of them's been dead for years.

So, yeah. Not only do I think that Nuts and Dolts is canon, and that the show has been hinting at them being more than "just friends" for years, but I also think that even the *music* is trying to tell us that there's more going on between these two.

RWBY x Destiny

So I’ve recently been playing all the Destiny 1 expansions, reading the lore, as well as watching Destiny 2 cutscenes and gameplay. And I got addicted to it.

Similar with RWBY, whose world I’ve always had an interest in even if I have disagreements with the Post-Vol 3 content.

So I decided to put together a crossover fanfic of those two. I mean, they both got super warriors that wield magical abilities against forces of Darkness and wield cool guns. It will be my first fanfic with any of those two fandoms so likely there’ll be flaws.

Premise is similar to a few Destiny x RWBY fanfics out there, with the Guardian ending up on Remnant. It takes place post-Beyond Light but pre-Witch Queen, and first chapter will be set in RWBY pre-Volume 1. Guardian’s an EXO Titan who’s a bit of a gun nut and weapon collector.

Will be adding my own twist to Grimm, and minor bits on how Remnant works. You might notice some small changes there and there.
