Hey TZ, what’s your opinion on the claim that “Bumblby is being rushed/forced Bc it’s the most popular ship in the FNDM”?
As someone who’s been watching RWBY since Vol 3, I can’t help but feel like RTs original intent was for Blacksun, but around Vol6 they realized that BB was more popular and ditched BS in favor of the bees. I know it’s probably more complicated than that, I just wanted your opinion.
(Forgive me if this sounds like I’m trying to start shipping drama, that’s not my intention. I do love the Bees, they are very cute)
I'd have to disagree with that I think.
In my opinion, even if the bees weren't planned from the start, the very latest I'd say it was decided on was volume 3. Adam's lines were just too blatant given later context.
And honestly I've always thought that it doesn't really matter if they knew day 1 that BB would be a thing. vol 1-2 weren't exactly the most polished, and I can pick out plenty of things that were in them that just felt like the writers throwing ideas at the wall and seeing what stuck. If they had put Sun in with the vague intention of him being a love interest, but then realized BB would be more interesting to explore, then that sounds plausible and perfectly reasonable to me. If they knew all along that Sun was just a red herring, then that's fine too.
Because in the end this is where we're at. And I'm sorry to say to BS fans, but what we have with Blake and Yang is infinitely more interesting to me than whatever we could have gotten with BS. There's just a lot more complex stuff going on with BB that BS wasn't really set up to fulfill. Even if they did change it because it was popular (which I heavily doubt), it's a change I fucking support. Good, I'm glad they realized most of their fan base liked BB and decided to do it. It was for the better in almost every way.
As for the first part of the ask, it's not rushed. The only people who call it rushed are the ones who spent the past 10 years denying any romance between Blake and Yang and calling every single canon romantic interaction platonic. It's their own fault if they see this coming out of the blue. You can't ignore the dozens of "road closed ahead" signs along the route and then act all surprised when you get to the road and it's closed. BB may have started as sudden blushes and flirting for them, but for literally everyone else it started with Burning the Candle and "starting with her."
It's also not forced. If Sun is allowed to wink, once, and then do fingerguns, once, and have people say he was robbed of a relationship because of it, then Blake and Yang are allowed to have an incredibly slowburn romance that involves some blushing and some flirting. BB has basically double the number of volumes that BS had to develop, and some of those volumes have done it so subtly that nobody fucking believed it was real. But yeah, sure, Sun being an overt flirt and everyone just assuming they'd end up together because of it is somehow less forced.

I really think Ruby and Weiss supposed to have big change as partner in volume 9
In Atlas era we rarely seen Ruby and Weiss get any interaction or conversation as equal parter they were more act like...leader and her teammate
In volume 8 Ruby get cheer by Blake and confort by Yang. With Blake as a leader, with Yang as a Sister. And No, there was no such thing "as a Partner" conversation...it was left out.
First i thought crwby only care about romance between partners so thats why they wouldn't show any RW moments but more i think about it...it wasn't like that.
When Team RWBY+Qrow,Maria, Oscar was in farm...they ware still like partners. They share their fear, anger...they comfort each other. but it changed.
Ruby has burden as a leader. Since vol6, especially since argus. And everyone expects her to be a leader. To Weiss...it was supposed to be both, leader and partner.
WBY defend on Ruby as leader before to...but it start to get heavy and Ruby didn't show any problems with it. She just let everyone depend on her.
because of that Ruby and Weiss relationship become more unbalanced. they were supposed to be partners too. but Ruby doesn't show any her persnal feeling to Weiss and Weiss expect Ruby to be her leader and rather forgot about being partner...
I know they support each other and have some found family moments time to time but i'm talking about intimacy moment between partners. Like in vol7 how Blake tell Yang she doesn't want to hunt Robyn only because she try to help Mentle and how she wish they don't have to kill anyone along way(anymore then Adam). Romance or Not. Ruby and Weiss need does moments, especially Ruby.
volume 9 trailer it showed us Ruby will question about herself and...for that I really think there should be profer moments for Ruby and Weiss. She need this. She need Weiss. She need partners who she can share their worry, burden...anything.
I really look forward for that happen.

the music in rwby
i feel like i could talk about rwby's ost for HOURS. not even like, how the lyrics represent a character and/or their situation (thats a whole other post) but how everyone composing them NEVER MISSES!! every song is just absolute banger after banger ranging from full on songs with vocals by casey lee williams to just scores that are used on the episodes of every volume (that you can just listen to!! and i think that rules.) every song in every volume hits the soft spot in my brain that makes me smile (bmblb from vol4), makes me cry (forever fall from vol6) and gets super fuckin hyped n pumped up (die from vol2, especially the part with casey just full on screaming the lyrics) and to be honest theres a lot of songs in the albums that fit those 3 criterias but those are the ones i could remember as of late i also love how much the casey has evolved as a singer (i've heard that she's been singing for RvB since she was like,6) from vol1 where she was, i think, 12 and her voice was plenty AWESOME to listen to already, then came vol8 and shit went DOWN. the opening kicking off with "we said GOOODBYYEEE" goes so goddamn hard its unreal. every opening in this series goes incredibly CRAZY and its not even funny like every second of the songs in the series are so damn well composed with the catchiest beats and best lyrics ever (specifically lamar hall, he raps so damn fast in big metal shoe, vol6) by the way, jeff HOWLING in some songs he is wonderful, like caffeine (vol2) or the vol3 opening. hell, songs where its just him doing the vocals are incredible too even if there arent that many, like bad luck charm in vol4 orr not fall in love with you in vol3! ill be honest, i dunno who composed what and who did this n that but im ASSUMING most of the guitar parts were just jeff, like the swell and heavy guitar in touch the sky, vol7, that ones gives me summer (not the character) vibes and it slaps. i love the solos sprinkled around the songs as well and im glad to see them still present and incredible as always in the vol9. (RED LIKE ROSES PART 3!! absolute PEAK. i listened to it for like 3 seconds on borrowed earbuds and it felt like heaven on my ears) the whole of volume 9 was incredible too, checkmate is incredible with the flow of the lyrics and the doots and the BASS, oh my god the bass. its really cool knowing martin de lima, from ok goodnight (the band casey sings in!! check them out, i need to listen to more of their songs aswell, awake sounds HEAVY and im all for it) composed some of the scores for vol9 and i hope there'll be more of ok goodnight in future volumes (greenlight vol10) didnt expect to have written so damn much but thats ok. what im saying is : music goes hard, goes cool and makes me happy. hope it makes you happy too :)

In your opinion what do you think the best and worst fight in volume 9 was?
Okay so, volume 9 was... definitely a strange one in terms of the way the fights were done. But just for a quick TL:DR:
Best fight, on a technical level: Ruby's lil scythe moment against the Furious Cat. Everyone's been wanting Ruby to use her scythe in an effective manner, we've known they can do it because we've seen Qrow's fights in vol6/7, and they finally let their actual lead character actually use her scythe for the first time since the Red Trailer.
Worst fight: all the rest of the fight against the Furious Cat/NeoCat. It sucked ass. Every bit of it. Bad choreo, bad writing, bad characters, completely undercuts the set-up, just bad.
My personal favourite: Ruby vs the Jabberwalker in episode 7 (not the rest of the fight with WBYJ just Ruby's moment). I liked how it basically foreshadowed Ruby's imminent breakdown and the toll the Ever After was taking on her. Was it subtle? As a speeding train, but. It was decent.
Overall, 99% of the fights in this volume were gif bait spectacle fights instead of anything plot relevant. But that just seems to be the way rwby's wheels are turning now, most of of the vol8 fights are the same, bare minimum of set-up (or actively contradicting earlier set-up), no real pay off, just Cool Moves for people to share screenshots of. And that's not bad, necessarily, but it also could be better.

The fact that Salem has acrylic nails is so fucking funny. It’s so funny. Like, where do you think she got them done? Did she just go to a fucking nail salon? What nail salon did she go to? Did she just pull up to a random nail salon somewhere and be like, “hi i want a set of acrylics.” Did she call ahead? Did she pay? Fuck the plot, fuck the backstory, fuck the “big reveal” crap, I want to know about Salem’s acrylics.

Blake:She’s not protecting me and I’m not protecting her. We’re protecting each other.
My Friend:So…she’s protecting you and you’re protecting her?
Me:…

So, back when the volume started I uploaded gifs of each opening sequence from v1-v7 on my old blog. I was still figuring out gif making at the time, and had my settings all wrong so they ended up coming out pretty low quality. So now I've fixed that issue, and with the end of Volume 7 today, I decided to remake them! (Unfortunately, Tumblr still butchered them a little but they're definitely better)

Headcannon on Qrow`s Backstory/ Semblance
note: this is just something I wrote up after  finishing  volume 6 last spring and never posted, I figured Id do it now since the next Vol. of rwby is premiering soon. its the first time Iv done an analysis on a character so its pretty simple
Since semblances are a manifestation of a person's soul through their personality/ego/ response to trauma we can use them to infer about a character's backstory even if it is only implied to us
for example, Blake's represents disassociation, Ren's is emotional repression, Weiss is defined by her family, Jaune, Thinking his worth is tied to what he can give other even if it destroys him in the process, etc
Since the bandit tribe goes by the mantra of. "The strong live and the weak die" I wouldn't be surprised if the parents/parental figure of Raven and Qrow heavily favored Raven over him, and contently belittling Qrow saying he "was a screw up" "couldn't do anything right" or "brought bad luck everywhere he goes". ( I wouldn't be surprised if this person is also an alcoholic since Qrow is and it's implied raven is as well) with all of the belittling from this person ( and later his sister), he begins to believe it and it becomes his entire identity and eventually his semblance.
while Raven, on the other hand, was embraced by the tribe and therefore took their teachings to heart and explains her patronizing, selfish nature as well as her "survival of the fittest" mentality.  That's why Ozpin was never able to completely get through to her as even though he shared his magic with both of the Branwen siblings and trusted them. Or perhaps she was once as loyal to Ozpin and her family as Qrow was but lost it when she learned the truth about Salem.  That would account for her semblance of being connected to family members, as strong kinship was necessary to the bandit tribe for survival.
When Qrow and Raven are sent to beacon to learn to kill huntsman he changes his ways because of Ozpin's mentorship ( And I like to believe summers love for him and his love for her) and shows him that there are good things he can do for Remnant. That explains the line from after "the lost fable" And his rash actions "No one wanted me" the people that helped Qrow see his own worth are gone, summer is dead and Ozpin was lying and has no idea how to actually defeat Salem, everything he worked for was meaningless now. That's when he starts to hit rock bottom.
