Sally named Percy after one of the only heroes to have a happy ending. Percy knows this. Perseus also means to destroy. they both know this. but there are some things Percy will never tell Sally, to let her think he's happy, that his end will be a good one.

Sally will never know that Poseidon regrets Percy's birth. she'll never know how often he's been poisoned. she'll never know he's been forced to fight to the death in arenas. she'll never know he's the one that blew up Mount St. Helens. she'll never know that, at some point, Percy starts to agree with Luke, starts to grow bitter in his dislike of the gods.

she'll never know about Tartarus. Percy will never tell her how he was so quick to ditch morals for survival. she'll never hear about Polybotes, or Akhlys, or facing the Pit itself. she'll never know that Percy's blood woke Gaea.

Percy will tell her that they won. he'll tell her that he's safe. he'll give hints about the least of the danger he was in, and let her think that's the worst of it. Sally will never know everything about Percy, and they both treasure the happy ending she believes he'll be able to have one day.

"Felix? Felix! Where are you...?" Peter yelled. He should be here by now... What the h*ll is taking him so long?!

***Narrator's Pov***

"Shhh! Shhh- Shh! Felix, keep it down! He might hear us!" You whispered-yelled while trying to hold in your giggles.

You and Felix were currently in a small closet. He was on his knees, kissing your stomach as you held onto his hair.

"Felix! Not there! That tickles!" You giggled.

You guys only started dating just about a month ago, and all you've done was kiss. You both wanted to do more, but it was way too risky, with Peter being a constant threat, that is.

No one knew about your relationship... and you both intend on keeping it that way. In the beginning, it was a little rocky.

You two didn't really like each other. You only tolerated each other, but soon enough, you both realized how much you had in common.

You both started hanging out more in secret, of course and well, here you guys are now.

No one even saw it coming. Not even Peter. You guys have been sneaking out for a while now to the point where you both were getting good at it.

Felix became a better liar, and it helped that Peter really trusted him, and you became sneaker. Sneaking away from group chores and workouts...

All so you guys could meet up and hang out.

It was going good for a while until one day, Peter caught you guys...

You heard footsteps, but you weren't sure where they were coming from...

"What the he*l-" Peter screamed, "FELIX, Y/N!" and you woke up.

You were breathing heavily. You were covered in sweat... You looked around and realized you weren't in your room. You turned your head to the side to find Felix sleeping soundly right beside you.

You were both sleeping in the woods... Fuc* you thought.

Your breathing finally normalized as he held on to your head, pushing back your hair. Shi* you thought.

You couldn't help but think about that dream- it wasn't impossible for that dream to be a vision since magic existed there... You took another glance at Felix with a worried face. Then, slowly, you laid back down, praying it would just stay a bad dream as you closed your eyes once again.

Time skip!~

***Y/n's Pov***

It has been months now since you had that dream... And all the dreams after, it was just you running with Felix away from something so dangerous- so angry.

Some showed you both hiding, and others, you both ran... But it all ended the same-

You sat up, breathing heavily once again.

"Another nightmare?" Felix asked groggily.

You breathed- "I'm- s-sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up."

He sat up and rubbed your back. "It's okay, Y/n. It's almost a year, and still, no one has caught us." He grabbed onto your hand. "I promise. No one will find out about us." He smiled. "Now, let's go back to sleep, okay."

You simply nodded and did so.

Time skip!~

You woke up feeling sick to your stomach. You turned to realize Felix wasn't there. You weren't really worried about it since he always wakes up before everyone- to wake everyone up, that is.

He'd usually go to you last too- just to let you have some more sleep than everyone else~

But today felt strange to you... You got up feeling all dizzy as you headed towards your bathroom, getting ready for the day.

Small time skip!~

You finally made it down towards the dining area. It took you a hot second with all the puking, but by now, you felt better.

But when you arrived, you were surprised to see nothing prepared- let alone anyone there...

You walked towards the kitchen- nothing. So, you left.

You walked around camp- nothing... Then you started feeling worried again. This wasn't normal. You checked the time to ensure you didn't miss anything. 7:01... That's normally when everyone has breakfast. Weird...

You decided to head towards the training area. Normal, that's where every would-be once breakfast was over, and as you thought- there they were.

They were all training. You looked around in search for Felix. You then found him holding a clipboard. He was standing next to Peter as they both watched everyone train.

You walked towards them.

"Hey. How come no one told me we started training early?"

-No reply-

"Um... Hello?"

Peter then looked at you and smirked. "Today, you will be training with me." Which isn't normal at all. Usually, you'd train with Felix.

You looked towards him with slight fear. He didn't even look at you, but you could tell he was scared, too...

Then you followed Peter.

And training began.

Small Time Skip!~

You were currently on the floor looking up to Peter, who held a sword towards your neck. You struggled to breathe, and your body wouldn't stop sweating due to the heat.

"Come on, Y/n. That can't be all you got? I mean, seriously, you've been training with MY strongest soldier all this time!"

He was clearly enjoying this. You once again looked towards Felix, and he just looked away from you. You were hurt by this, and then Peter reminded you to never look away from your opponent- he cut your cheek. The kind of cut that would leave a scar.

It burned, and all he said next was, "Tch- how dissatisfying." Then he left, and you just sat up, holding your cheek while everyone continued to stare at you.

It wasn't normal- no, it wasn't normal at all for Peter to participate in training... So, of course, everyone would stop what they were doing just to watch him practically beat someone up.

Time skip!~

"Felix!" You yelled, trying to catch up to him. "FELIX!" You yelled louder, and he finally stopped allowing you to catch up to him.

You took a moment to breath, but before you could even say anything, he interrupted you.

"Stop following me." He said plainly.

"Wha-What?" You softly said out of pure disbelief.

"You heard me." He didn't even bother to turn around and say it in your face.

"What!? Why!? D- Did I do something wrong?!" You asked, feeling more frantic.

"Y/n- I have no time for you. Go home." He said.

You couldn't help but feel hurt by this. You would normally help him finish his tasks so you could have some alone time together, but it seems nothing is acting normal today...

Time skip!~

Lunchtime was now over, and before everyone got up, they waited. Usually this was about the time when Peter would make an announcement. Whether it was chores or new work, it was always something.

"Okay, everyone, listen up! Today, we will be talking about- insubordination."

Your eyes widened. You looked towards Felix, who sat right next to Peter, and all he did was look away. He clearly had pain in his eyes. Then you looked towards Peter; he was smirking as he spoke.

"As you all know- insubordination is punishable by death!" He looked at you. Your heart started pounding...

Oh god- does he know? How?! We were so carful! You thought.

"I'm sure some of you already noticed that today was a little different," Peter said. "Today I realized something... one of us- betrayed us."

Everyone gasps.

"The person who betrayed us was dear to me, too. And for that, I won't kill them." He looked towards Felix. "Instead- I simply told them not to do this again. That's it, dismissed."

Everyone left as they muttered, questioning what that was all about. Peter then looked at you- then left.

Felix just sat there staring at the clipboard.

"Felix..." You walked up to him... "Wha- what was all that about."

"He knows-" He said. "We can't keep doing this, Y/n."

"Wha- what? Wait- that's not fair! Don't tell me you're breaking up with me..."

He looked at you with sad eyes. "We don't have any other choice. Peter made that clear..." He muttered.

My eyes started watering- "So that's it? We're not even gonna fight this? You're done-"

I couldn't believe what I was hearing...

He didn't even bother replying. He just walked away.

I sighed, then took my leave as well. We both walked in opposite directions.

Time Skip!~

It's been weeks since me and Felix really interacted. My life became bland, boring, and very depressing. While Peter seemed happy about it.

Honestly, I didn't really care anymore... There was no point in fighting for someone when that someone had already given up...

I have thrown a book across a room exactly once.

a paperback.

it was the final book of a trilogy, even passages would be blacked out, pages printed to look burned, torn out, water damaged beyondmmediately readability. but every chapter read revealed more of what had been illegible.

the characters fight against their written fates, but every move only advances the inevitable.

inexorably, the end comes and everything burns.

im full on sobbing, ugly crying like you wouldn't believe. I chuck the book.

my name is called from downstairs. my parents. what did they want?

for me to get them a chocolate bar from the kitchen.

I still can't bring myself to read the last 100 pages of that book. maybe someday.

Has anyone wondered about how people love Happy Endings?

So, I found that both Great Expectations and Return of The Native's original ending weren't supposed to end with Pip and Estella/ Venn and Thomasin married. Pip and Venn were supposed to remain single while Estella and Thomasin were supposed to remain widowed. But the changed endings have become canon and are more revered.

And I couldn't help but wonder- would the original endings be acceptable for current audiences? And when I look at how people react to the way Midge and Lenny ended up in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel (no spoilers here) or any couple which still yearn for (Jess and Rory, Dan and Blair, Clarke and Bellamy), I don't think so. There's a reason why fanfiction exists (of which I'm guilty myself).

I think Happy Endings give hope. But it's pivotal to realize that Sad Endings are important too- it's for the lovelorn people who look at a screen wishing for an OTP, to let them know they're not alone, that some couples no matter how much they're right for each other, it's their choices just as much as it is fate.

So, what I'm trying to say is...

It's okay if couples don't work out- they are still remembered for what they gave the partners involved. Think La La Land.

Pentiment Spoilers!

Spoilers for the full game (specifically Mathieu and Rüdeger and alternate endings) under the cut with an important question.

So today I learned that if Andreas threatens to tell on Mathieu and Rüdeger in the library at night, Rüdeger will run away (there is a bug I and a couple others on reddit encountered where when you talk to Mathieu before you ever even go to the library, he asks where Rüdeger is, saying that Andreas threatening them made Rüdeger panic and flee). Anyway, has anyone done this? From what I gather Rüdeger simply never comes back and Mathieu is forever sad and bitter about it, but I’ve never seen it in game (or any let’s plays). In my own game I obviously was nice to them in my first playthrough and now that I’ve started my second and played up to the library, I have chosen the “Let me go or I’ll tell the abbot everything” option and Rüdeger freaks out and is like “No, you can’t do that! Mathieu will be defrocked! We could be excommunicated!” and Mathieu is like “Shhh, obviously Andreas won’t do that.” and to Andreas basically “you’re such a piece of shit!” but I haven’t had it in me to go through with that playthrough because I love them. I am honestly so sad to think that Rüdeger is so scared that he’ll leave Mathieu forever (but his dialogue does suggest that he is scared FOR Mathieu because the church is Mathieu’s entire career). So does anyone know what the outcome is? Do we actually never see Rüdeger again? Do we learn his fate?

Step by step guide:

• Cry: let yourself feel all the emotions and let your soul be wrecked (it’s part of the experience). • Reread the sad scenes: yeah, that’s right, you have to assimilate everything again so that you can analyse the drama without the surprise effect. • Reread the fun scenes: you’ve grieved enough, you won’t feel guilty if you have a laugh. • Open TikTok: now you can watch those videos without the spoilers, and feel a bit nostalgic. • Find fanart: same thing, spoiler free and happy. • Open tumblr: that’s when the real fun begins. You’ll find memes, theories, people who are in your same situation, so that you can stop being sad and start being obsessive (it takes a lot of effort to go crazy so you’ll be too busy to cry). • Open ao3: I swear you won’t be disappointed. You’ll find fanfic, sad and happy ones, so that you won’t have to say goodbye to those characters even if the book has ended, and if the ending was bad you’ll probably find better ones anyway. Fanfic writers always know what people need. • Build your new personality around that book: (final step, self explanatory).
