I've seen a lot of people comparing Huskerdust to a healthy version of Stolitz and it's kinda got me thinking... Staticmoth as the evil fucked up version of Fizzmodeus.

THINK ABOUT IT!!!!! The parallels between Val and Ozzie are obvious. Like that man wants to be Ozzie so bad it's insane, from the way he dresses to the way he decorates to straight up OWNING A ROBO FIZZ, Val clearly wishes he was the embodiment of Lust. But are there parallels between Vox and Fizz? Actually, surprisingly yeah. They're both showmen, like aggressively so. They're very public figures, with their face all over every product in Hell(albeit Vox is doing it a lot more purposefully then Fizz). Fizz's antagonism towards Blitzø is actually pretty reminiscent of Vox's towards Alastor(except Fizz and Blitzø have a lot more baggage lmao), and they even share some aesthetic similarities! Specifically the colors of Fizz's robotic limbs matching Vox's overall color scheme. Which speaking of robots, that's probably their biggest similarity overall: they're both partially made of technology. I hesitate to say cyborg because Idk how much that applies to Vox, since object heads aren't typically classified as cyborgs as far as I know, and we don't actually know how much of Vox is organic(also cyborg is just one of those words I have an inexplicable dislike of Idk-), but like. Think cyborg I guess. Like Vox is a LOT more of a dick and probably doesn't have a very tragic backstory? Maybe? Unclear. But the similarities are undeniable.

Okay, now that individual parallels are out of the way, how could their relationship to eachother parallel Fizzmodeus? Starting with baseline aesthetics: they got the height difference. It's not as dramatic as Fizz and Ozzie's but TO BE FAIR, Huskerdust are the same way(their height difference is obvious, but not as massive as Blitzø and Stolas'). Staticmoth is also very buisness-partners-with-benefits and some hints at deeper feelings, which is how we were introduced to Fizzmodeus. I don't think Val and Vox feel the need to hide their romantic feelings? But tbh it could go either way we haven't seen much of their dynamic yet. That's kinda where the similarities I could spot find because see previous sentence, so let's move onto the differences!

I think a good way to breakdown what makes Staticmoth toxic Fizzmodeus is actually by bringing Alastor and Blitzø back in to compare and contrast how Val handles Vox's rivalry with how Ozzie handles Fizz's. In Radio Killed the Video Star, the only reason Val tells Vox that Alastor is at the hotel is to piss him off. He clearly enjoys Vox's reaction, and keeps egging him on. Teasing him about it. Which like, friendly teasing between partners is well and good, but Val is clearly just doing it cause he wants to see a fight and doesn't care about how distressed Vox is about this. Vox goes off on his own and sings a fuckin banger, gets publically humiliated, causes a massive blackout. Val doesn't really do shit to help him out, just kinda sits there and. Idk watches? Unclear what the other Vees are actually doing because most of Stayed Gone takes place in funny TV land where Vox is capable of bending reality to his whim for the sake of visual interest. But what Val is actively doing during the musical number isn't important so who cares. What's important is that he egged Vox on, convinced him that confronting Alastor right then was a good idea, and then just sat back as Vox got so pissed off he had a meltdown. Which I SWEAR I'm not trying to dramatize this scene it just sounds really fucking bad when you write it all down from this perspective. I think it's also worth noting that all of this is DIRECTLY AFTER Vox did the exact opposite for Val, calming him down so he doesn't make a fool of himself in public.

Meanwhile compare that to how Ozzie handles Fizz and Blitzø's relationship. During House of Asmodeus, once Fizz realizes Blitzø is there, he starts publically roasting him about how shitty his love life is. Ozzie encourages him, and even gives him a little congratualtions in the background when Verosika joins in for changing the subject, but the difference here is that House of Asmodeus takes place in a much more controlled environment, so it's less likely either of them will have to face consequences for being assholes. There's also how Ozzie's encouragement is just a lot more genuine. Like "yeah babe, go insult that guy who traumatized and abandoned you whoo!" rather then "hey hey look there's that guy you hate. You should go fight with him lmao show him who's boss." Then there's the ending. At the end of both Stayed Gone and House of Asmodeus, Vox and Fizz eat shit and die. Don't worry they're both fine like immediately after, but while in House of Asmodeus Ozzie immediately rushes over to Fizz to make sure okay, we uh. Do not see Vox interact with anybody but Alastor in the direct aftermath of his eating shit and dying, which is fair because he's in his weird little gamer cave. Then we skip straight to the Vees having a meeting to decide what they're gonna do about Alastor, and we don't really know what any of them were doing in the interim between the end of Stayed Gone and the meeting, so uh this part of the comparison kinda falls flat. But again something worth noting is that Val just straight up. Does not care about Alastor during the meeting scene. He's sitting there bedazzling his fucking gun BY HAND with school glue and rhinestones, not even paying attention to the meeting, despite being the one to get Vox all riled up about Alastor IN THE FIRST PLACE.

In short: Val encourages Vox to fight Alastor without thinking it through, doesn't bother to help out during the actual fight, and then immediately stops caring the moment the fights over. Meanwhile Ozzie, while encouraging Fizz to pick on Blitzø, backs him up the whole time, and while still supportive of his boyfriend, doesn't actively encourage Fizz to do things that would get him hurt. Ozzie also supports Fizz by refusing to let Blitzø have an Asmodean crystal because he knows Fizz wouldn't like it! Which is the exact opposite of pissing your partner off on purpose so you can watch a fight!!! And if that isn't enough evidence for you, then uh. I guess you could compare how Val treats... just everybody around him, really, with how Ozzie does(but that's more individual character analysis than relationship analysis). Or you could talk about how fed up with Val's shit Vox clearly is in comparison to the mutual support of Fizzmodeus. Or how. Val throws a glass at Vox. And breaks his phone. And then Vox has to scream in his face to get him to listen-

The Kansas City Couple Pt 2

TAKES PLACE DURING TRAINING CAMP AND PRESEASON GAMES (JUNE-AUGUST 2023)

Interviewer: We are back. It is training camp time. And we are only here with Y/N. Why isn’t Travis here?

Y/N: So during training camp, Travis stays on the Missouri Western State campus. So I only see him at practice. So I saw him yesterday morning but he stayed there. So I’ll see him again tomorrow morning at practice again.

Interviewer: So why do they stay on campus when they could just come back?

Y/N: So the 9:30-12 practice that community members can see isn’t the full practice. So they actually come back at 1 and practice for another 2 and a half hours. So it is easier for the players to just stay in the dorms on campus than it is to drive all the way home. They also normally do team bonding skills after practice. I know that this year there are 8 PS4s and like 6 X-Boxs. So they are most likely doing a huge madden tournament. Honestly it is good for them to have that time together as a team. I know a couple of years ago there was a lot of separation between the rookies and the vets as training camp. And now they stay at campus. It is really funny cause Pat (Patrick Mahomes) called me the other day and we were talking and he goes “you know that Trav leaves early every night from our Madden tournament to call you right?” and I was confused. He said “every night when he calls you, we are most likely playing Madden, and he just gets up and leaves. He normally comes back 30 minutes to an hour later.” Which is funny cause he is calling me right now, (Answers the phone). Hi Trav! “Hey baby, what are you doing?” I am filming the documentary. Can I call you back after like an hour? “Yeah that's fine I love you!” I love you too. That is normally not how our conversations go. But we need to film so he can wait. He probably wasn’t doing anything important anyway.

Interviewer: Is it hard not having Travis here?

Y/N: It definitely was in the beginning. But it is mostly normal now. I’m sorta used to it. I have been doing this for so long. You know literally since day 1. So since then it has been getting easier. I don’t know if it is 100% easy, but I am pretty much used to him not being here for basically 3 months straight. We call and text and facetime so often it is kind of like he is here. There are evenings when he isn’t playing Madden and I am just walking around the house with him on Facetime. And it is literally like he is at the house.

Interviewer: What do you think about the Podcast?

Y/N: The New Heights podcast. Um, it's fun. I think Travis has so much fun with it. I love that he gets to talk to Jason (Travis’s brother). They are both so busy during the season and this is something that they can do to stay close. Even in past years with having Tuesdays off, there wasn’t a lot of time for them to sit down and talk. And so now with the podcast they have a set time to not be bothered. Which actually rarely happens, they get interrupted a lot, between me and the girls. Something is interrupting them.

Interviewer: So we talked about this during the off season, that you and Travis were off and on throughout high school. And you mentioned that you were in a car accident your senior year. Can we talk about that?

Y/N: yeah for sure. We can talk about that. So yes I was in a car accident my senior year. In January of that year I was driving home from wrestling practice and I hit a very slick patch of the road and slid into the ditch. But the ditch happened to ot be super deep so I actually just rolled over the ditch and rolled my car like 6 times. This is funny but not at the same time. It was actually Travis that found me. So this was back before we had cell phones. But we lived pretty close to each other, and the plan was that after practice I was to go to his house for a family dinner type thing. Well it had gotten way past the time that I should have been at his house. So he told his parents that he was going to drive the normal route to school, which is the same for both of us, and he found my car.

Interviewer: So you said in the previous interview that the accident kind of put a barrier between you and Travis. May we ask why?

Y/N: So being a wrestler and a softball player, I was determined after the accident to get back to 100% health. And I kind of pushed myself harder than I should have and it took me a while to realize that. But during the first like 3 weeks after the accident, there were times that I felt Travis being too protective. He was really just trying to get me to rest and take it easy. And all I wanted to do was to get back to being 100%. So I decided around the beginning of February that it would be best if Travis and I took a break. So we did and in April when I was finally feeling like myself again we ended up getting back together. And we have been together since.

Interviewer: So with that being said we know you wrestled at the college level. Was there ever a time when you felt Travis cared more about football than you or your wrestling?

Y/N: We definitely had arguments about that throughout college. But it was never that I felt he didn’t care about me or my wrestling career. It was more that we had two completely different focuses for a good chunk of the school year that we had a hard time spending time together. There were fights where we said that our individual sport was more important. But at the end of the day we knew that wasn’t true and that the other person came first.

Interviewer: I know fans would love to have multiple episodes with just you but we are going to hopefully get Travis back in for an interview. Hopefully after the first preseason game. We would love to talk about how he is feeling. But we will have to make time to get him to sit down and talk.

hi! sorry i took so long to post anything, been a very chaotic few weeks. no prompt here, just remus tending to sirius!

sirius sulked his way through the castle corridors, trying his hardest to ignore the gasps and giggles as he passed.

he continued his sulking all the way up to his room, he wasn’t exactly excited about james finding out, but he had an attack plan.

walk straight to remus’ bed, ignore james’ inevitable, incessant worrying, have remus fix everything, and the most important step, never ever bring any of this up to anyone ever again.

so he took just a minute to compose himself, deep breath, wince, twist, push, exhale.

‘pads!? what the fuck? are you okay? oh merlin, what happened? who did this? here, here, sit down, stay here, ill get you ice and- where are you going?’

sirius shot a deadly glare at james— bitchy, he knows, but the bruises and black eye fit as an excuse.

though remus has yet to show any interest in anything other than the book he was reading, sirius continued his plan.

he grabbed remus by the ear (‘SIRIUS!’), pulling him off the bed, and dragging him through the room into the bathroom.

remus complied with a muttered, ‘you could have let me mark the page, or you know, just asked,’ and a friendly wave to a still frantic james.

sirius helped lupin stand up and handed him his bag of muggle medicine.

‘i only brought you cause you’re good at healing,’ sirius defended himself; uselessly.

‘i know,’ remus has his wand and his various supplies set up before he spares a glance in sirius’ direction.

the gasp is almost guttural.

sirius’ swollen cheek, probable broken nose, lip swollen and oozing blood, red splotches scattered across most of his visible skin; sirius looked utterly beaten.

‘merlin, is it really that bad?’ sirius tried (unsuccessfully) to laugh it off, but it ended in a wheezing cough.

‘sirius, merlin. who did this to you?’ remus thumbs over the bloodied lip, more blood dripping down as he swipes over it.

sirius barely contains a shiver, with remus analyzing every inch of his face, his thumb still resting on his lip, and the hand still gripping his jaw, turning and adjusting sirius to his liking.

while remus starts on the treatment, sirius sighs out his embarrassment.

‘snape had said some nasty shit about mudbloods, as if he isn’t one himself! but he was calling some first year these awful names, and i obviously said some- ow!- thing to him, and then barty comes out of nowhere ready to fucking kill me,’ with breaks and winces, sirius mutters out his story to an attentive remus.

‘oh baby, too caring for your own good. i appreciate you standing up for that first year, but quit getting yourself involved with snape, it never ends well for anyone.’

‘i can’t just let him go around thinking he’s the shit, he’s gotta learn somehow.’

‘by having his friend beat the shit out of you? im not sure i see your plan here,’ remus is giggling and sirius is smiling despite the pain.

remus pulls sirius up by the collar of his jacket so he’s standing, dusts the jacket off, and wipes the dry blood off.

now that sirius is standing, they’re about the same height, so when remus looks up, hes only an inch away from sirius’ face.

‘well, uh, thank you remus,’ sirius stutters out his appreciation in an attempt to diffuse the tension.

‘ehh, you can thank me later,’ then he pulls sirius in, backing him up to lean against the counter.

Pairing: Gojo Satoru x fem reader

It is an undeniable fact that walking down the hallway during break time was the best moment of the day. Why? Some people say it's because they can finally get their ass out of the classroom, walk to the toilet and finally take the shit they held in for hours. While some say they get to gossip among their cool friends. Well, in your case, you get to watch your crush from afar.

"Haaaah~ Class is finally over." Shoko, who is sitting right next to you spoke and yawned at the same time, making it inaudible.

"..." You were staring at her, but it is obvious your mind is wandering elsewhere.

"What's wrong? Anything on my face?" She grabbed the travel mirror from your bag to inspect her own face, making sure there was nothing weird on it.

"Do you still remember Gojo?"

"Huh? That tall ass guy from our class last year?" She closed the travel mirror, handing it back to you.

"Yeah."

"Yeah, what's with him?" She had her elbow on the table, propping up her chin, looking at you.

"I think I like him." You said with a straight face while arranging your messy desk.

"What???" Her eyes widen, looking at you unbelievably.

"What do you like about him? His looks? His height? His personality? This is so sudden what the hell?"

"Maybe all." Your lips curled up looking at her disgusted face.

"But, didn't you have a crush on him last year already? Why him again this year?"

"Shoko, you know how much I want a boyfriend. Everyone already has their own. Including you." You gave her an eye roll sarcastically.

"And you know what happened. You got rejected." She sarcastically returned the sarcasm.

"..."

"Get your ass up, I wanna see him. He's probably playing badminton with Geto." You stood up while pulling Shoko's right arm together.

"Ugh, I hate you so much."

"I love you too."

We walked to the badminton court, sitting in the resting area. There are a total of 6 badminton courts available, and we chose the seat closest to the court Gojo and Geto are playing.

He has a smile radiant with happiness, sometimes he will show his white and shiny teeth when he grins after hitting a smash. He looked pretty from every angle. His height, his facial features, his body shape, everything about him is ideal. Maybe that's why you were attracted to him once again, after a cruel one-sided heartbreak.

"Oi, stop staring. You're making it super obvious." Shoko is trying to look for the positive points on Gojo that attracted my attention. She can't understand why people like him. He's an asshole, causing trouble in class, loud, and inelegant. She can't find anything better than his looks and height.

"Shoko, do you think I have a chance with him?" I turned to her, hope glimmering in my eyes.

"Umm... Probably no- I mean, 50/50." She looked guilty when she said that. She knows very well what happened last year will repeat, but she doesn't want to hurt your feelings by being too straightforward.

-And this is when your delulu started-

"Shoko! Shoko! I saw him 3 times today in the hallway!!"

"Shoko! I had 0.000000001 millisecond eye contact with him today ahhhhhhhh!!!"

"Shoko he turned to look at me!!"

"..."

Shoko gave up. It's already the second week, she had to bear all your tiny tiny interactions(??) with Gojo, every single day. The way you blushed when he walked past you, the way your eyes followed his back until his silhouette disappeared around the corner. She had enough, she needs to stop this torture. Without you knowing, she went to Geto after school. They are actually childhood friends so they're pretty close together.

"Geto." Gojo was absent on that day, so she turned his chair around to face Geto.

"Hmm? Need anything?" He shifted his sight from the book in his hand to Shoko, who is sitting right in front of him.

"Yeah, very important." She got a deep breath before continuing.

"Do you still remember Y/N?"

"Yeah, I see her almost every day, in the resting area with you."

"I need your help." She looked into his eyes firmly, as if it's a situation between life and death.

"Y/N has a huge crush on Gojo. Again."

"... I think she took 'never give up' too seriously." He chuckles, covering up the book in his hand and put it on his desk.

"Agreed. So are you helping or not? And What is the percentage of succeeding?"

"I'm afraid it's impossible. But I'll try my best."

"Ugh, I also have the same thought, but I don't want to make her sad again. She looks so happy having delusional thoughts."

"I'll see what I can do."

Shoko thanked him and walked back home that day. Although she's prepared you won't be getting your happy ending after what Geto said, but she still has faith in Geto helping you out.

Another normal day, same routine. The bell rang, you and Shoko walked to the resting area. You were expecting Geto and Gojo to play together. Instead, you saw another girl right beside Gojo, playing with him. Both of them were teaming up against Geto. She was pretty. Her straight and black shoulder-length hair. Her facial features. Her body shape. She caught your eyes easily, not because she was standing right beside Gojo, but because of herself. Looking from afar, you can feel Gojo smile more than usual. You thought she was just there for fun, so you dismissed the thought of Gojo having an interest in her. The next day, she's still there. The day after, she's also there. She was there for the whole week. You started to see her walking around with Gojo every time you walk past them. She'd sometimes look for Gojo in his classroom even though she is 1 year older than us. You weren't bothered, she may have feelings for Gojo too, but Gojo wouldn't return his feelings. He rejected so many girls, including you. There's no way he'll out of nowhere have interest in this senior.

Good times always come to an end. The moment you realised Gojo always waited for her to keep her badminton equipment before going back to his classroom, even though he had already packed everything up and was ready to go back before her. It made your heartache. You knew damn well you shouldn't be feeling this. He isn't yours. Your delusional thoughts are corrupting your mind, making you think he wouldn't be in love with someone else. You thought one day you'll be the one staying by his side, admiring his smile not from afar any more, but right beside him. In reality, there he is, waiting for her, walking with her every single day. And that girl isn't you.

Colin Morgan has an exclusive brand new in-depth interview with Radio Times

In brand new thriller Dead Shot – which arrived on Sky Cinema and NOW last week – former Merlin star Colin Morgan stars as Irish paramilitary Michael, who is on the verge of retirement when his pregnant wife is brutally murdered by a British army soldier.

Based on an original screenplay by Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett and directed by brothers Tom and Charles Guard, it's a harrowing film that takes place during the height of the Troubles in 1975, following Michael as he embarks on a revenge mission that sends him to the heart of IRA operations in London.

When Morgan first got his hands on the "page-turning" script, he was struck by a number of things, not least the contradictions inherent in his character, and he was especially won over by a certain ambiguity regarding who the audience should be rooting for.

"As a Northern Irish guy, you think I'd be biased to one side, but it's absolutely seeing both sides of this tale and this drama," he tells RadioTimes.com in an exclusive interview. "And so it says quite a lot that I was kind of on both camps, I think that's quite an achievement.

"Contradictions are the main thing I look for," he adds. "You see somebody in a cause that some men were drawn into in the late '60s and early '70s in Northern Ireland, particularly in the border counties. And I'm wondering, if I was born around that time would I have been any different? Might the times have dictated what I needed to do to survive as a man?

"Those are the things that are compelling to me... he wants to be a dad, he wants to survive his future. At the very beginning of the film it feels like he's just about to begin the rest of his life, he's left the cause behind, and it just gets taken away from him in a second."

In preparing for the film, it helped a great deal that Morgan himself grew up in Armagh, the same town that Michael is from. Despite growing up in a different era, the star was very much able to draw on his own personal experiences when it came to getting a handle on the character.

"One thing I said to the Guard brothers before I started was I'm gonna bring everything I bring to the character from my point of view, but also the stuff of just being someone who grew up in Armagh," he says.

"You get that for free, because that's the complication of living in a place like that, even though I grew up in the tail end of things – it is just part of your culture and in your blood. You see all those things growing up, and they're just in my own kind of memory bank. So while I didn't go through the times, I was certainly surrounded by adults who did."

Dead Shot isn't Morgan's first project in recent years to be set against the backdrop of the Troubles. In 2021, he had a key role in Sir Kenneth Branagh's Oscar-winning coming-of-age film Belfast, and the actor has clearly found it an immensely rewarding experience to see audiences drawn in by these stories. 

"Particularly with Belfast, there's something kind of amazing about seeing something that's such a part of you reach the world and resonate with people in a universal way," he says. "When you see your story, or you hear your accent, there's just something about you that connects with that.

"And then when you hear other people the world over do that as well, you can't help but feel a sense of pride that your identity is being recognised."

In addition to the knowledge of the conflict he had accumulated while growing up in Northern Ireland, Morgan did plenty of research into the Troubles to prepare for his role in Belfast. He says this came in handy once again for the new film, but stresses that Dead Shot itself is not necessarily "concerned about trying to educate people about the times in Northern Ireland".

"Not every film that deals with the Northern Irish issue has to go into all those details," he says. "That's what I thought was refreshing about this. But it's important as an actor just to be familiar with those things, whatever period that – it's always worth doing, and I always do it."

One of the most intriguing aspects of the film is the complexity regarding Michael's adversary Tempest, played by Aml Ameen. Although by no means portrayed in a straight-forwardly sympathetic light, the character is not presented as an out-and-out villain either – but rather a vulnerable person who has been thrown into a horrible circumstance by odious bosses. Meanwhile, the fact that Tempest is a Black man living in a time when racism was commonplace undoubtedly adds to this complexity.

"One of the things I said to the directors right from the start was that there was a lot more that bound these two guys than divided them," Morgan says of the relationship between Michael and Tempest. "They're both in London, which was a place at the time that had [signs saying], 'No dogs, no Blacks, no Irish'.

"So these are actually both very outsider characters who were treated differently – when an Irish man went to London in those times there was complete shunning of them as well. So they're guys who know what it is to be shunned, rejected, and treated as the other. And the fact that they find themselves caught in this tragedy against each other, it's a shame in a way.

"The sad thing about that particular time in Northern Ireland was that so much division between religions and nationality prevented so much integration," he adds. "And it's still unfortunately very present in Northern Ireland to this day – it's getting less so, but it's hard to think it'll ever go away.

"It's terrible to think that people connecting on a human level is prevented by something like a label or identity or nationality, whatever it is. Your best friend could have been the one that was serving in the army except you were just on the other end of the lines."

Although the film is set primarily in London, the shoot itself actually took place in Glasgow – with a number of London buses and other identifying features brought in to help transform the Scottish city into something resembling the UK capital. This was an interesting experience for Morgan, especially considering he has his own history with the city.

"I actually went to drama school in Glasgow, I went to the Royal Scottish [Conservatoire]," he says. "And the odd thing was that I hadn't really been there since I graduated and I found myself staying in an apartment that was right opposite the apartment I stayed in in my second year at drama school.

"It was this weird kind of full circle moment of suddenly there I was, like 15/20 years later. I could practically still see through the window of that apartment and see the 20-year-old me wondering, 'Oh, I wonder if this whole acting thing will ever work?'"

Of course, it wasn't long after graduating before Morgan's acting career very much did work. Following a number of early roles on stage and screen, including the Doctor Who episode Midnight, his big breakthrough came in 2008 when he was cast as the title character of BBC One's fantasy series Merlin – a show that went on to run for five highly successful seasons.

The series has retained a cult following since it ended in 2012, and some fans have long clamoured for some sort of reunion or reboot. But although Morgan thinks back fondly on his time on the show, returning to the role doesn't appear to be something he's considering any time soon.

"I think most actors are more about progression and moving forward and don't often look back," he explains. "Even on stage, sometimes plays I've done have wanted to remount and come back again, and I often found I don't take up those opportunities because I've wrung the towel dry and I've rinsed what I could out of it.

"That's certainly what I've tried to do with every project, it's like I invest every 110% into it so hopefully by the end of it, I feel like I've done all I could. And certainly on projects like Merlin, I felt like yeah, we definitely did that together as a team and it's certainly [something I] look back on and feel very proud of the work that I and everyone did."

On the subject of moving forward, Morgan has a number of other imminent projects in the pipeline. He has a key role alongside Jessica Lange, Ed Harris and Ben Foster in a new film adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's classic play Long Day’s Journey Into Night; he will star opposite Emma Appleton in the upcoming Paramount Plus legal thriller The Killing Kind; and he is currently filming a project which he can't yet disclose. The keys to the roles he's been looking for in recent times, he says, are variety and collaboration.

"I look for things I haven't done before, I look for challenges, I look for versatility, I look for passionate people," he explains. "I think more so than anything, what seems to be top of my list now is collaborators – people who have this kind of notion of bringing you into the fold and wanting to work with you not just to deliver the acting goods, but to know what you feel about the scripts and the story and have your input.

"And that's my background. My first jobs were all new writing in theatre and working with writers and developing and progressing and shaping things together. And that's what I thrive on more than anything in the world.

"That seems to be what people are wanting these days, I think the landscape has changed. People are really wanting multidisciplinary actors, and that's worth knowing for anybody wanting to come into the business: don't just be thinking about the acting, think about 360 degrees of everything."

finally, finally finished the ~definitive~ designs for my main Motley girls :’)

Extensive design notes under the cut (mostly for documentation purposes, but also because i like talking about my ocs lol)

In my last post, I introduced the idea of giving each character multiple colors, rather than being one uniform color throughout the design. The idea is that the characters can earn up to 3 new colors as they age+experience new things.

For each color they earn, they’ll wear a new ‘evolved’ version of their previous outfit.

For comparisons sake, here’s the initial pass I took at trying to give my characters more colors:

Fact: it’s actually incredibly difficult to design monochrome outfits for characters without the designs looking extremely unfinished (to me, anyways lol). In an attempt to break up the monotony of the monochrome outfit designs, I found myself over relying on the outline colors to fill in their outfit pieces (cherrys pants, limes turtleneck, etc). This hypothetically works, but it ended up causing a lot of confusion as to how many colors the characters had actually earned, especially when the outline color was vastly different from the intended color. Basically, the tl;dr is that over relying on the outline colors felt like cheating, looked bad, and caused a lot of issues.

All of this explanation is to set up the 2 design rules I gave myself for the New Definitive Designs:

1. Outline colors MUST NOT be over relied on, and should be used as sparingly as possible

2. Nothing is sacred. If it looks bad, throw it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also decided to shift around their body types slightly, since I realized that practically every character had the same build with a different height (with the exception of Banana). Marshmallow is a bit curvier, Watermelon is slightly more muscular, etc. And, while you cant really tell because of their baggy outfits, Lime is much boxier and Blueberry is lankier and has wider shoulders than the others.

Finally, here’s some specific design notes for each character, how they changed, and why:

Cherry Pit - Cherry may not have had the most drastic changes, but hers were definitely the most important. She’s had the same hairstyle ever since the first time I drew her (back in ....... middle school lol), and as attached as I was to it, it caused a LOT of problems. It gave her an ugly silhouette, the sharp edges kind of ruined her circle motif, etc. So it had to change. I decided to give her a fluffier hair style to incorporate more round edges into her design, and I truly cannot tell you how many hairstyles I cycled through before I landed on that one. It was major development hell. But I think the new style is much much cuter! Due to story reasons, I also decided to give her 2 outfit colors instead of just one, and she seriously looks so much better because of it. Big fan of Cherrys new design lol

Blueberry Cobbler - Ohhhh where to start with this one. Blueberrys design has always been a headache to me. I found it difficult to draw consistently, and even when I got it to look how I wanted, it still didn’t look very good. So, my goal for her redesign was to overhaul her design while keeping the general idea behind it; most importantly, she needed to be Fun To Draw. So, I changed the silhouette of her sweatshirt by giving her a more exaggerated hood, replaced her bulky zipper with the hanging ties (idk what theyre called lol), and Changed Her Ugly Ass Tights into baggier pants. I also crimped her hair to make it more angular. In the context of this universe, cold colors have naturally colder body temperatures, so they have to wear insulated clothing to stay chilly; the overall baggier clothes really just fixed all of my issues with her design honestly. Better for her personality type, prettier silhouette, in-universe reasoning, etc. Scrumptious.

Lime Pie - I decided to swap out her cargo pants for a long skirt, and let her hair down. This was mostly because, with the monochrome outfit she needed to wear, the turtleneck+cargo pants combo just wouldnt work without looking Pretty Bad. It also helps her outfit stand out a bit more, as she’s now the only character in the main cast that is wearing a skirt. She’s meant to be an inversion of the “nerdy girl lets her hair down and puts on a dress and Now She Is Popular” trope, so the idea is that when she earns her 2nd color, she will start wearing her hair up again, and the cargo pants can come back. Maybe.

Marshmallow Fluff - I honestly hit the nail on the head with this one in the initial batch of concepts I did, so I didnt change much lol. The biggest change is that I made her hair light again. This was because shes obviously meant to have a cloud motif, but her sister (who I rarely post about lol) has a thundercloud motif-- basically, I’m just saying that the darker hair is gonna go to her sister instead.

Banana Pudding - Again, she looks almost exactly the same. I just changed the red outline of her original dress to be less contrasting, since I got a lot of people asking if she’d earned two colors or not. Hopefully, its more clear now that she’s only earned one.

Watermelon Sorbet - As much as I liked her original design, many many people told me she looked like a ‘cool yoga instructor’ character. Which, while not terrible, wasn't exactly what I was going for; she’s meant to be more of an ‘edm dancer’ kind of character. So, I decided to change out her pants for bigger legwarmers that I’m hoping make her look a bit more hyper active.

Thats all my notes lol. I have no idea if anyone is gonna read this far, but if you do, thanks :’) I fully realize that making so many notes about this looks silly, considering theyre OCs and not like ..... widely known characters. So Im sure a lot of what Ive said just sounds like gibberish. But its fun to ME!!!!!!!!

I’ve got more character designs to post over the next week or so; namely, the 3 Antagonists (Grape Soda, Orange Custard, and Angel Cake) + the parents (which includes 2 characters Ive never shown before, but Im very excited to share lol). Those posts wont be accompanied with longwinded notes like this one is; Im just the most excited about these designs and wanted to talk about them.

I think the most important think to as qustions about us how we got the first letter and tape to begin with,someone had to have wrote it and sent it in the mail and had have to known the protagonist address,but maybe I'm just overthinking it ,its just a way to start the game, btw I think the only info about the protagonist or the player from the developers is their height 5'10 - 6' idk how canon it is ?

Do you think poppy is "evil" ?

Hmm...no, I don't think Poppy is evil.

I think Poppy is traumatized and misguided, with quite a naive outlook on morality, and her actions are guided by that and her limited experience of the world and humanity for the past like, fifty years.

Ultimately, both Poppy and the Prototype want the same thing - to put a stop to the atrocities committed by Playtime Co. They agree on that. But they're implied to have had vastly different experiences with Playtime, and that is very relevant to how they approach their shared cause.

It's worth noting here that these two have, potentially, been trapped in that facility for half a century or more. The word prototype suggests that he was the very first test subject to survive having his brain and nervous system grafted to a constructed, partially organic body. If his name is correct, he should predate Poppy. He is the template they used to create and refine the process to make her. She is the "perfect" version of him, the finished product. He is a rougher, less polished first draft.

And Poppy was created in 1950. Since you can't have a living doll walking around and living her life in the outside world, that means she's been inside the factory for 55 years, 10 years of which she spent locked in a case. And if the Prototype is rightly-named, he's been there even longer.

And look at how different their situations are:

Attitude Towards Procedure

In Poppy's cut dialogue from the end of Chapter 2, she explains to the Player that:

"Terrible things have happened, and I am the cause. Being able to exist as a doll, it has killed so many people."

Her choice of words here is interesting, because it implies that there's a fundamental difference between Poppy and the other Bigger Bodies experiments. Specifically, it implies that Poppy was a willing test subject. She uses positive phrasing to describe her experience. Being able to is a phrase that suggests that existing as a doll is a desirable state. She could have said existing as a doll. She could have said making me a doll. She could have said turning me into a doll. All of those are negative phrases I'd expect from one of the unwilling test subjects. But Poppy uses being able to, and I think that's significant. I think what we have here is someone who has a more positive, favourable view of her current existence than the others - someone who sees toyhood as either a second chance at life, or a second chance at childhood.

The Prototype, on the other hand, is strongly implied to not be a willing volunteer - quite the opposite. He's highly aggressive towards Playtime staff. He's uncooperative with Playtime scientists. He's actively trying to escape the facility in the backstory. That is not the behaviour of someone who consented to his procedure.

Containment & Care

When we first find Poppy, we see that her living situation is actually pretty good.

Like. Yes. She's locked in a case, ripping off Annabelle like her little heart depends on it, but we know that's not where the Playtime staff kept her - she explicitly attributes that to the Prototype:

"He's the reason I was trapped in that god-awful case for so long."

(We can even make an educated guess as to when this happened and why. Poppy was in the case during the Hour of Joy - she remembers hearing it all happen, but not participating. Given that she was firmly opposed to the idea, it's likely that Prototype sealed her away ahead of time to make sure she wasn't able to interfere. It was a tactical manoeuvre, so it would've happened shortly before the Hour began, so that no staff had time to discover her and remove her from the case.)

So anyway. Ignore the case. Look at everything else.

We find Poppy in a section of the factory that's been refitted to look like a house, in what looks like a child's playroom, full of toys, cushions and furniture. If this is where Poppy has been living all those years, that suggests she's well-cared for, well-treated, and kept mostly happy by the company - we know, of course, that she wasn't entirely spared from the trauma; her maintenance tape is pretty horrific. But she's definitely been treated more kindly - or at least kept more comfortable - than some of the other experiments, and that's reflected in her feelings on the Hour of Joy: she's seen humanity in the Playtime employees who've interacted with her, so she sympathises with the terrified workers.

(Which? Actually makes me wonder if there was a reason none of the other experiments ever came to let her out in the ten years between then and the beginning of the game. Poppy's perspective is very different to that of most of the toys who were created from frightened, imprisoned children, experimented on against their will, and it would make sense for them to feel resentful or angry about it. Mommy Long Legs is mocking and lowkey aggressive towards her, and her avoidance of CatNap suggests he would be, too. Maybe her opposition to the idea of the Hour of Joy made her unpopular with them. Though she seems to have made up/never fallen out with Kissy Missy, at least.)

This is a huge contrast with the Prototype, whose entire experience with Playtime is one big human rights violation. He's kept in a prison cell in the labs under 24/7 surveillance, in almost complete isolation - CatNap, who's allowed to socialise with him, isn't created until the 90s, and the only other time we see or hear of anyone interacting with Prototype is in his regular sessions with Harley Sawyer, who spends that time coldly torturing him in the name of science. And that's given him a very different perspective - that nothing will change at Playtime without drastic and violent rebellion on the part of the experiments. Playtime doesn't care about their experiments' quality of life. They don't care about their feelings. They know that the toys have no rights, that they can't safely leave the factory, and that post-transformation, they have very little recourse against their tormentors. He knows that he'll spend the rest of his life a slave unless he's willing to kill.

(The other experiments also seem to have fallen closer to Prototype's end of the containment spectrum than Poppy's. There's a literal dungeon beneath the playhouse, with enough cells for each of the Bigger Bodies Smiling Critters. We know CatNap was locked away in what is explicitly described by a Playtime worker as a prison, when he's not doing his duties in Playcare, and also segregated from the other Critters - his cell is outside their dungeon. Playtime's idea of "protective custody" for Thomas Clark - now in the body of a Bron toy - was an empty padded cell with no company or stimulation, and he was a loyal employee who'd dedicated like 40 years of his life to the company. When Thomas was placed in with the other experiments, it appeared that they were all thrown into a "genpop" situation together in a big room. Like, Poppy is the only toy getting special treatment, accommodation and enrichment here. It's no wonder almost nobody stood with her against Prototype - he's "one of us", and she would've seemed like "one of them".)

The vibe I get is that like. Both of them are activists, of a sort. But Poppy, before the Hour of Joy, is the "middle-class white woman" moderate sort of activist. She will write a strongly-worded letter of protest to her local Head of Innovation. She will wave a colourful poster at a peaceful rally. She thinks that compromise, diplomacy and patience are the ways to solve her chosen cause. And she can afford to wait for compromise, diplomacy and patience to work, because while she is affected by the oppression she's protesting, it's a bearable situation for her. She has parts of life she enjoys. She has reasons to keep living. Whereas Prototype is a "frontline" kind of activist who's willing to lock horns with riot police in the street armed with only a brick and a smashed bottle, because he's part of the group whose lives have become so unbearable under the oppression that they have nothing left to lose.

Neither is evil. Neither is undeserving of empathy or understanding. Neither is morally beyond reproach. Both their viewpoints have been shaped by experience - Poppy's by her "privilege" (in comparison to the other experiments), Prototype's by his abuse. They're not even truly on opposing sides. The difference between them is simply a matter of degrees on spectrums. Patience/desperation. Optimism/cynicism. Idealism/realism. Hopefulness/hopelessness.

And that's what's most tragic tbh. Poppy believes Prototype is just as evil as Playtime, not realising just how easily she could have been him, or become him, had she been treated the same way he was.

(As to how we got the letter...honestly, I'm not sure. The childish writing suggests Poppy wrote it, but she couldn't possibly have walked it to a post box. Maybe Prototype's mind control reaches far enough to have a postperson collect it from outside the factory's front door? For that to be the case, Prototype and Poppy would need to be working together, but I do have a few disjointed thoughts about how that could turn out to be the case.)

and the answer is - yes, pretty much.

how the body is understood, how illness and disability are thought about, how the medical system works etc. are all questions that i am primed to obsess over in any piece of media - even when they're not actually significant parts of the story.

which is to say, i completely understand the reason why the harry potter series treats these topics in the way it does. magical medicine isn't one of the themes the story is designed to focus on - which means that its purpose is as incidental worldbuilding detail which reinforces the whimsical vibe of the earlier books and the darker vibe of the later ones, and which means that its treatment in the text makes sense within the setting and genre conventions of canon. harry being able to take a bludger - a cast-iron cannonball moving at speed - to the head and living to tell the tale is the same as john wick being able to fall from a great height, land on his back, and then get up and walk around: he's an action hero in a fantasy.

and so wizards being more physically durable than muggles - and also wizards having their own magical diseases, and being immune to muggle ones - all makes sense within the context of the books as literature. kids don't want to read about harry having a cold. they want to read about him being a wizard.

but when i'm deciding to enjoy myself by taking the question of just how fucked-up wizarding society is much more seriously than canon does... the implication that wizards are immune to muggle diseases and that they are broadly unaffected by physical trauma unless that trauma has a magical cause really bothers me. entirely - as you say - because it directly undermines the series' thesis that the purity of magical blood is irrelevant and that the wizarding world's dehumanisation of muggles and muggleborns by treating them as, essentially, separate, lower species is wrong.

the main canon example of this which i detest is dumbledore's suggestion in half-blood prince that merope gaunt could have survived childbirth if she'd simply "raised her wand to save her own life". after all, if a little bit of magic makes one immune to experiencing complications during childbirth [unlike thousands upon thousands of muggles throughout history, who would probably have very much liked to have lived to see their children grow up]... then voldemort is completely justified in thinking merope's death was a selfish, shameful, deliberate choice.

[i do understand that the idea merope chose to die is primarily included in the text so dumbledore can segue into saying that lily "had a choice too", contributing to the gradual reveal in half-blood prince and deathly hallows that she's the key to the whole mystery. but i still think that jkr could maybe have though a little bit harder about what she was suggesting with this than she evidently did...]

and so i think in fandom it's both fun and important not to accept the idea that wizards are automatically resistant to anything which might kill, injure, or disable a muggle - especially because it lets us really play with some of the big worldbuilding questions surrounding the conventions and institutions of wizarding society.

what do disability rights look like in a world which is so rabidly intolerant of difference, and which appears not to have any sort of welfare state? the nhs is a recent invention, created in a muggle britain which is culturally and institutionally separate from the wizarding one: so is treatment at st mungo's free - and, if not, what happens to those who can't pay? how is queerness understood in a society which appears to have views on sexual expression which are fairly conservative - and how does this mean the wizarding state responded to the aids crisis? what do reproductive rights look like in this kind of society? if the dementor's kiss results in - essentially - a vegetative state, what is done with the people the kiss has been performed on? what might it be like for your relative to develop dementia at 100... when you know they might live to 250? what impact do biases about blood status have on how muggleborn patients are treated?

i just think it's interesting!

I wanted to address this comment i saw yesterday but I had to organize my thoughts first as best as i could. I also knew GRA events are gonna take up a lot of my time so i had push it back. However, i want to post about it here even if the topic associated to this didn’t blow up that much (thankfully) cause it irritated me. I’m very used to certain fans having a skewed view of bxgs. I understand that no matter what we say, the prejudice is too heavy to even see reason.

So this is more of to explain to bxgs how this statement is completely wrong and why it shouldn’t even be said in the first place.

Let’s start with the context.

On 11/2, when there was supposed to be an entertainment ban, a few hot search tags popped up. The boys’ name or even BXG was not on it but it sort of involved the fandom. The gist is this person is a former big name BXG account back in 2019 who is now a yxh. They earned a lot from that work and was able to buy “ 8 houses”. That was actually what got on HS, the idea that someone who is working as a yxh can be that rich.

I guess people missed the fact that this person earned the money from yxh “work” and not being a BXG account. Some just saw “bxg” so they made a connection and so the comment i posted above was a common statement. The fact that XZ and WYB are top stars too added to the conversation.

First of all, being a big name account that posts about XZ and WYB back in 2019 isn’t that hard. Untamed was at it’s peak that time and so were the active fans. The drama was airing. They had appearances and were practically everywhere. It would not take that much to get the likes, follows and engagement for 2 people that had a lot of content going on. After that, when 2020 rolled in, I understand how some people on the c-side of things will fall off. They probably had new interests and I think the same goes for that account. They were there at the height of it and learned how being a profitable blog works. So I wanna say that this fan was seasonal. To say that they “represent” all big name bxg blogs is totally unfair.

Next i wanna address the concept of profit and “cpfs giving money to big name accounts”.

The easiest way is engagement to a blogger’s post. It may not be me giving the money in my pocket to them literally but they get earnings from engagement & through ads/ affiliate links. This concept is not new to BXGs. It’s the same as any other influencers out there. So the accusation of spending money to big name accounts instead of supporting the boys — in this case is misleading.

You can argue that a regular person, even so/os fall in this trap when they engage with blatant anti accounts. When they comment and share those posts, they give them the engagement.

Now there are two other ways that bxgs give their actual money to these big name accounts.

1. Fansites. Those that share HQ photos and videos of them during events. How they make money aside from engagement is selling photo-books. What’s important to remember tho is there is an unspoken rule among these sites ( not just bxg ones ) that a huge part of the earnings will be spent on charity and buying endorsements by the boys. they post receipts. Not everyone of them is perfect and some have their own issues and closed down but that’s just how it goes.

2. Fan artists. The concept of fan art & merch have long been alive and is honestly one of the best things about fandom. It gives a chance to artists to make something and earn from it. I have to say that this is the more lucrative one cause the really popular ones have their products ( usually the dolls ) sell out so fast and have months of waiting list. The same fan sites, there is a rule for them to use the money for charity.

Here is a post I made before about some of those charities but that’s a very small list compared to the actual initiatives that were done for years.

As for supporting the boys, these accounts buy endorsements, magazines of them in the cover ( in bulk ), organize LED ads for their birthdays or fandom anniversaries, sponsor peripherals for bxg gatherings, host block screenings for movies etc.

Lastly, however someone spends the money they earned is none of anyone’s business. These people on the internet thinking it’s okay to gloat about how they are the “best fan” out there because of how much they spend on a celebrity is so crass. It’s like giving Yibo a gift and leaving all the tags on cause you want him to know exactly how much you spent on him.

I appreciate fans that do spend. I really do. It helps alot with their brand value and career. I personally buy merch and watch content on paid platforms. However it should not be a way to measure someone’s worth as a fan. There is no need to shame people who want to spend their money elsewhere and not XZ or WYB. This kind of toxic mindset is largely prevalent in c-ent fandoms that some international fans are adapting. If there is something that the CCP and I agree on, it’s that this practice shouldn’t be demanded of fans. The idea of “how dare you spend on something you like” ( whether it’s a product from a big name fan or whatever ) exposes whoever is saying it as that kind of brainwashed fan.

So anyway, participate in the fandom in a way that you are comfortable with. We all have different approaches on how we take part in it and there is really no need to keep receipts. ✌🏼

Uhh random Ripple Star Fairy headcanons because I have a lot of these. The fairies are barely known about and I love Kirby 64, so that leaves plenty of room for me to speculate and headcanon

- There are two types of fairies- royal fairies and normal fairies. Royal fairies are about the height of your average human when full grown, and are almost always female. Fairies also only have queens, so male royals often go to live in far off parts of the planet because of how matriarchal fairy society is. Royal fairies always have black hair and violet eyes. Normal fairies are the ones you see all over the place! They make up for 99% of the fairy population. Normal fairies can have hair in any color but black, and it’s usually a vibrant color, and blue eyes

- Baby fairies are very, very little. So small. They fit in the palm of your hand. They only grow to about 3 feet tall after all. They are also quite fragile, especially their wings. Their wings are like that of a butterfly when they’re first born, being wet and so sensitive that any wrong touch to them will permanently affect that fairy. Artificial attempts at drying the wings of a newborn fairy can cause the wings to crystalize, so they’re often just taken close care of by their mothers until they dry on their own

- Fairies love rocks. Mostly gemstones, but still. Because crystals are so important to them, they hold all rocks in a high regard

- Speaking of, the Crystal. It’s the most important part of fairy society because of what it can do. The Crystal is capable of taking the form of any weapon depending on the wielder and is able to truly destroy Dark Matter. It also produces a very special kind of water when moisture collects on it and falls off. This water, kept in a bowl below the Crystal, can heal any wound or other ailment

- Fairies have weird diets. They need sugar to survive, both natural and artificial. They eat fruits and baked goods and pastries, meaning that most fairies are either farmers or bakers. They can eat other things, but often don’t

- Some fairies will form a very strong, super close platonic bond with a non-fairy. This is more than best friends but not quite romantic. This relationship is what Adeleine and Ribbon have

- Fairies tend to sleep in piles. They will sleep in their own beds, but also like to cuddle a lot. They love touch and reassurance. In the palace, this fairy cuddle pile usually happens on top of Adeleine, who doesn’t mind being crushed

- Fairies and Dark Matter are natural enemies. They fight a lot. Dark Matter are more scared of fairies than fairies are of them because of the Crystal

- Fairies can purr. They just can

- Despite not having any form of scales on their wings, fairies still shed. This “shedding” is actually shiny light particles that fall off their wings during springtime due to the change in season

- Ripple Star doesn’t get very cold at all and always has warm temperatures and no crazy weather, so fairies aren’t used to different weather. Ribbon didn’t have a very fun time on Shiver Star

- Fairies almost always have four wings- two sets of two- that are shiny and iridescent. Royal fairies also have four wings, but their wings have a distinct heart and diamond shaped pattern in them, denoting their royalty

- Queen Ripple, the current Queen of the Fairies, is quite young for a fairy. She is the same size as a younger human, after all

- Fairies love sunning themselves. They’ll often lay in fields and just let the light reflect off of their wings and absorb the light

- Adeleine is treated as an honorary fairy

My ass fell down the Sherlock Holmes tree A G A I N and I am currently hitting every branch on the way down so literally anything you know about sending telegrams is useful information to me. Do they need stamps. How long do they take. Do I have to say Stop after every sentence or is that just a comprehension convention. IS IT A MORSE CODE THING

I AM REVVING MY ENGINES ABOUT THIS ASK AHHH LET'S GO

Telegrams did not need stamps. They were usually sent from one telegram office to another and were distributed outward by dedicated telegram couriers from that company. Most of the time, this system was faster than the mail.

Which is to say--THEY ARE SPEED. At telegraphy's height in the early 20th century, you could easily send a message across an entire country in a day. Telegram messages would get relayed up and down lines from office to office, sometimes passing through places like railroad stations, before arriving at the office closest to the recipient. Transatlantic messages shot across undersea cables in record time! It was bonkers! It's probably Samuel Morse's first message in his code (he didn't invent the telegraph, but the code's important) was: "WHAT HATH GOD WROUGHT"

So the STOP thing is funky. There's a myth that people used it because telegraph companies provided the word for free in place of paying for punctuation, but that's probably not true. What is true is that the STOP really started showing up in telegrams during World War I. In this case, the STOP separated sentences clearly so messages wouldn't get misinterpreted and potentially cause things like horrible war disasters if someone read something incorrectly. Supposedly, the public caught onto using STOP and continued using it long after it was no longer necessary. It became a style of convention! It was en vogue!

(An aside is that one of the alternatives to STOP was using the numeral 30 in place of a period. This practice, as far as I'm aware, comes from newspapers using 30 to signal to the typesetter that they were at the end of a column. You can still find clippings of old newspapers that use this method! And sometimes you find telegrams using the same system!)

You, as the sender, would also pay by letter. This is why telegrams sound to us like these choppy, informal messages that are very easy to make fun of. If I remember correctly, the average length of an American telegram was about 11-12 letters. Very few people had the means to send long, flowery telegrams to each other or observe strict grammar rules. It was a whole lot easier to send the word NO than to say "I cannot come to your party, Geraldine, for I have a strong disdain for you as a person". It's also fun to look at some telegrams to see an early form of our text messaging acronyms. Some of them are so short that they're nonsensical to us.

So why send a telegram that says NO, anyway? Why not send a letter or, better yet, call the person? Because at the peak of telegraphy, both of those latter things are expensive and not always reliable. A rural farmer might not have the funds to make a long distance call, or straight-up doesn't have a telephone line! And what if their letter gets lost in the mail? What if the message is urgent? This is partially why a critical announcement of something like thee Armistice herself is delivered via telegram rather than someone calling and saying, "Yippee! The war's over!" Say it in tiny words and say it faster!

To date (and what I love to say to the kids I teach at the museum), sending a telegram is faster than sending a text message. If I sent the word NO through a telegraph line, it's already at its next stop the second I send it. If you texted the same word, you'd have to open the message prompt, type out the letters, send it, encode it, bounce it from a tower to a satellite and back down to another tower, have it go to the recipient's phone, decode it, and wait for them to open the prompt to read it. My NO is already there. :) (Now, I grant, it's going to take longer to get it on paper and sent through a courier to someone else, but if I work at a place like a railroad station and I'm sending a message to another station, then it's faster!)

Depending on the year you're looking for, there are a few different ways to send the telegram itself. There are telegraphic typewriters! Punch cards! Punch ribbons! Some guy wearing headphones and using a pencil! Someone else standing on a post and wildly waving flags around! A thing called a wigwag! Endless options!

Twilight has a ranch and a horse. Good with animals, works at home kinda, can become a fluffy dog (rebuttal me personally I’m mildly allergic to dogs, and also ranches take up a lot of time. As a country person I know, I know it all too well)

Wild has long hair the kids could braid. Has horses, can cook a good meal, doesn’t get tired of cooking, has a thing he can take pictures on, well travelled. (Rebuttal he does some stupid ass shit bro, and also he isn’t always considering what his actions do. What if he does something stupid and gets seriously injured and the kids and reader are like fending for themselves for a bit)

Time. He’s responsible, a good leader, the oldest, has cool markings. (Rebuttal. What the fuck happened with the moon. Also FD mask, what if the kids got their hands on this super dangerous mask that has a god inside of it. Assuming that FD isn’t unleashed alr)

Hyrule. HES SUCH A CUTIE OMG. He’s half fairy, good with kids, soft, inviting, can literally heal (rebuttal, the blood curse. What if the kids inherit it cause like genetics and stuff)

Four. Works at home kinda, he’s also a cutie. Could make little toys, is good under pressure, is around their height, good playmate (rebuttal. If the smithing area is inside the house easy access to burns. Also the four sword is a thing)

Sage. Has nice hair as well. Protective, has two houses technically, can fuse things together, can make cool little things to ride around on with reader and children (rebuttal. He can make literal torture machines, and he’s a little unhinged. Also Wth is up with his world. That place is not safe at all)

Fierce Diety. A literal god. (Rebuttal. A literal god. Does godliness get passed down, idk but he’s also like really tall and that’d hurt a lot. Like procreation and having fucking this dude who’s built like an actual monster’s kids pop outta yah)

I don’t have a good read and cal but pretty much the same stuff abt Sage and wild. Just a different font.

Time. He's so calm and patient. So anytime the baby gets to be too much for Reader, he's easily stepping in and swooping them up, settling them within seconds. (Rebuttal: Fought the fucking moon- Also, has farts that are comparable to an actual try on your life. Idk what this man eats, but someone has got to find what crawled up his butt and died)

Hyrule. Loml. I love him. Gibe him smooch- He has babysitters out the freaking door. His sisters absolutely adore you and your baby and bring the best presents. Hi! I was looking through Magica De Spell’s Wikipedia page today and it says that Magica has a sister named the Wicked Witch of the West, who has children named Witch Child and Warlock. I couldn’t find any information of them online so I was wondering if you knew anything about them, if they exist at all.

If they don’t, do you think you could instead do a character post on Magica’s cousin Matilda? Your old family tree posts helped me a lot in understanding Duck lore.

Aw I'm glad those posts help!! I'm still down for making them 'cause it's a lot of fun for me to find old comics and do some research.

So before I talk about Witch Child, I wanna clarify some things that are relevant to the character.

This is another case where Americans can't stop themselves from taking "sister" and "aunt" literally. Aunt can be used to refer to any older woman in someone's life. Sister is frequently used in stories about witches (because a coven is like a sisterhood/sorority, it's a whole thing). Neither imply blood relation! Even "cousin" is often used to refer to friends/neighbors. Different cultures and languages treat words like that very differently than Americans do.

Witch Child, Warlock, & Witch of the West are all from a very specific time period of Brazilian duck comics where Magica and Madam Mim (from The Sword and the Stone) were living together/dating/???? and interacted with other Disney movie characters. In this specific timeline, the ducks live amongst regular humans which is very strange but you just gotta accept it. Magica also lives in Duckburg I think? It seems like she and Scrooge just run into each other randomly so I believe she and Mim have a house in Duckburg for whatever reason

"Witch Child" is not her name and I don't know why she's referred to like that on InDucks/other wikias. Her name in Brazil (where she was created) is Magali, in Italian she's Maghetta/Maghina/Streghella (inconsistent names in translations are very common), and in French she's Seraphine. None of her comics have an official English publication so again idk where "Witch Child" comes from! But I'll probably refer to her as Streghella for the remainder of this post 'cause it's easier that way.

OKAY now for details:

In Streghella's first comic, Magica gets a letter from a friend asking her and Madam Mim to babysit her friend's daughter. Streghella is whiny and rude and a troublemaker. She ruins a magical career opportunity for Magica and it's pretty funny

Then there's a whole bunch of comics where she just appears for no reason, making trouble. She's a surprisingly powerful witch but she just loves to piss everyone off, especially Mim.

Another important note about Streghella - she was only really drawn by two comic artists during the height of her appearances (in the 70s, pretty much). The above drawings were all done by an artist named Jim Fletcher. But she had a lot of appearances drawn by an artist named Glenn Schmitz, who drew her completely differently.

I don't know if I would've realized these were even the same character if it wasn't documented lol but y'know they didn't have the same resources in the 70s that we have now so they did what they could.

Anyway, from what I can tell her personality stayed mostly in tact through most of these comics. Whiny, stuck-up, nosy, but also very funny and magically powerful. She would occasionally interact with Scrooge or HDL but mostly her appearances were in Magica and Mim comics.

Oh there's one comic where she looks like this for some reason?

BUT THEN what's interesting is Streghella making a few appearances years after her comics all came out. First there was one comic in 1995, then twice in 2011 and once more in 2016. There's also apparently a 2020 appearance but I couldn't get my hands on it :(

In her 1995 appearance she looks really cute but her personality is, well. Personality-wise she's completely unrecognizable. Now Magica makes comments about Streghella always trying to be good and getting in trouble for being good all the time.

(Ignore the bad english translation I was just popping pages into google translate lol)

She's still a troublemaker in the sense that she tries to trick Magica and Mim into consuming a potion that will make them good, kind people. But then the comic ends with Magica doing something nice by choice and it's cute but yeah the character is nothing like her original self.

Her first 2011 comic is where she...wants to go to a Jonas Brothers concert and chats with April May & June online to try and make it happen. Something like that. It follows along with "Streghella is too kind and Magica tries to teach her to be evil" from the '95 comic, but for some reason the colorist made Streghella a brunette. Idk! They also forgot her iconic hat!

Next 2011 comic has Huey Dewey and Louie accidentally traveling to a magic academy. It's very Harry Potter-y? I guess? Streghella is friendly and does some magic. You can tell it's her 'cause of the pigtails and bows. But still no hat :(

In her 2016 appearance, she's been reading April May and June's blog and wants to help them with some problem. Magica is like no be mean and Streghella's like no I want to help! You get it.

This comic is pretty fun. Magica turns herself into Grandma Duck and puts a truth potion into some cake Streghella bakes for the Duck Family and gets a bunch of secrets out of them.

There's also a joke at the end where Daisy accidentally reveals Brigitta's age to everyone (we don't get to see it) but according to this comic, Brigitta is much older than she looks lol Not that we didn't already know that.

Anyway so that's all there is to know about Witch Child/Streghella. She's cute!

Warlock time!

Warlock is Streghella's brother. He's only in four comics total and they're mostly very early comics - his real name is just whatever Streghella's name was at the time but with an -o at the end. If she's Maghetta, he's Maghetto. If she's Maghina, he's Maghino. You get it. He'd probably be Streghello if he had a named appearance more recently.

His personality is not very distinct from Streghella's. He's also magical and a troublemaker. In his first comic he arrives in the mail, in a, like...little jail cell? Crate? Idk? And then Magica and Mim eventually box both kids up into the crate and ship them away.

(Yes that's supposed to be him, apparently.)

He appears in the magic school comic as well...

And that's it! There's not really anything else to know about him.

Last but not least...the Witch of the West! Actually, that's a lie. Least. She appears just the one time. And I'm gonna be honest. I don't think she's the biological mother of these bird children.

'Cause yeah she's a human witch. Idk if she's from another Disney property or if she's supposed to be the witch from the Wizard of Oz. Idk man. But Streghella calls her "mama" and she refers to Streghella as her daughter so I'll take those ones literally.

There's nothing much to say about her - she doesn't have a name and all she does is drop her kid off with Magica and then reappear when Mim and Magica threaten to lock Streghella inside a bottle.

NOW if you're wondering...how do these characters connect to the previously known characters that are related to Magica De Spell?

They do not! The fact that Streghella has made a few recent appearances means you can decide how you want her to fit in, but trying to blend these different canons will not be seamless. You just gotta take what you like. Streghella frequently refers to herself as Magica's apprentice so you can always take that route, too.

Aaaaaaaaaand since you asked, I'm happy to talk about Matilda! God there are too many Matildas in duck comics. I have never met a woman named Matilda in my life. It's fine.

Matilda De Spell (not an official name but I call her that anyway) - Magica's teenage cousin! Is she actually, biologically, Magica's cousin? Probably not. But it's fiiiiiiine.

I did actually scanlate all three comics that Matilda appears in, so you can read them if you'd like:

There's not really anything to know about her outside of these comics. She's tomboyish, spunky, fun. Really looks up to Magica. I think their dynamic is fun and I always like to see more teen characters lol I think I've portrayed Matilda as Amelia De Spell's younger sister but that's definitely not canon, just me trying to stick the blondes together.

Anyway sorry this ended up being such a long response. I haven't had the opportunity to research random duck characters in a while. I hope this has the answers you wanted :)

It's LU Update time!!!!!

Dawn 6 was fun, I enjoyed this update.

Wild has fear, four is a gremlin and SKY MY BELOVED RETURNS

Now this post is LONG so grab some popcorn and some water!

So let's get into it! - Spoilers abound, obviously

From the top!

First off im gonna talk about a parallel, I've pulled up the conversation between Wild and Four from Sunset 7 - 9 Cause I've noticed something.

I'll be bringing up Sunset 7 - 9 more so keep an eye out!

Here is the scene from sunset 7, where we see four near the stable

He could be using the house as a metaphor. Wild going to Twilight was out of the question at the time. He was not in his right mind. It was not up for debate.

He was closed off.

And here is the one from the new update

He's more open to discussion. But he is still not entirely open. His body acts as the barrier rather than the house. I like this top down view, it really opens up the area.

And opens up the floor for discussion. But he's still on guard.

Especially facing the stable.

He's going through his bag here, but he looks guarded. Which I assume is him still thinking about how they last spoke. He knows Wild is coming, assuming he asked Hyrule to tell him.

Now wild

I like that he thinks of Zelda as he's approaching Four. It's really quite sweet, and shows that he probably doesn't see himself as a diplomat after everything. Makes me think what's happening back in Wild's world?

Is Zelda bringing the people together back home? Is she trying to put together some form of government? Who knows?

Another parallel which got me excited

We see Four and wild standing in the same frame facing each other twice in Sunset 7

In both frames Wild is slouched, getting down to Four's level, or close enough to it.

But in dawn 6 there's only one. And it's this.

Wild is stood to his full height and just Takes responsibility. He even appears to be standing to attention here. It shows just how much he's had to change in such a short period. Wild is a knight after all. He's got that ingrained in him.

I wonder how Warriors would react if he saw this conversation, Wild is acting like he's talking to a superior. Maybe he sees the Chain as superior to him?

Im so proud of the Wild child. He's a good man.

Moving on...

We know Four asked Wild here to give him the new Sword. (Which I'll talk about later cause I love it)

So his confusion here is understandable.

Now we get the shock and the crossed arms. Four is still understandably angry at Wild for the last time they spoke. As they don't interact again after Sunset 9. Not really. We get the passing comments from Wild. But Four says nothing.

Now we get to Wild's apology

These two panels especially. Wild was scared. Really scared. We know from prior comic chapters that Wild and Twilight have a history and that they are a set. The way Wilds face screws up here.

He was worried. As they all were. But with his connection to Twilight being that much deeper he would have been feeling the pressure.

Four is also super expressive. I love how he looks here. As the fight they had. Now that clearer heads have prevailed. Was caused by both parties. They were stressed. And stressed people especially heroes are more prone to anger.

I love these panels.

Wilds face is just, so sweet. Fours is just adorable.

And the hand shake! I love them

Now this must be said

Gremlin four! Gremlin four!

I love Wilds expression here as he twists. He was clearly very side lined by the whole. There's four of you thing.

Quadruplets - Oh i love that

Now we get to the sword!

Wild's panel has me screaming I love him

He's all proud oh himself for apologising then four pulls out the sword. and he's like.

You can see on wilds face just how much this means to him

Which is a big change from the last few days for him. It's nice to see him happy for once. :D

He looks at the sword like an old friend. Which, to be honest. Is fair. In fact, a lot of the links look at their swords like this.

You know i cant go one update without mentioning the background faces. Look at this little gremlin stance.
