How has Our Flag Means Death changed your life?

I have to admit I'm quite late to the party - I only found out about OFMD in September this year. Just in time to binge-watch season 1 and 2 and watch the last three episodes of s2 live.

I used to be a big reader and I also watched a lot of TV, but the past years have been tough, and busy with so many things, that my general approach is 'I don't have time for this'. And then I scrolled through Tumblr and saw a picture of Ed and Stede. I have no idea what happened next.

There was something that called me, that told me I had to watch this show, and so I did. 10 mins into the first episode I was already in love with it. The huge message about Kindness and Inclusion that was spread there resonated so deeply within my heart that I just knew I would stick to the end.

I would stay in bed watching OFMD until late at night, I'd wake up at 5 am and dive into Tumblr before work. Did this completely mess up my life? Yes. And it was such a blessing.

I used to be so very insecure about myself. OMFD came and just wiped it all away. The great thing is that it's not something explicit or straightforward - there is a magic in this show that touches a part of your soul that you didn't even know existed, heals a pain you were not even aware of, and it changes you. I came out of it being so much more confident, and most importantly, happier. I used to hate my face, my voice, and I'd always be so hard on myself. Now I genuinely feel that I am who I am, and that is okay. This show has inspired me to be a better person, it gave me something wonderful to fight for, and a found family that I couldn't have dreamed of.

I've been in fandoms before, and I've never seen one so healthy as this. Everyone is trying to help one another, there are not endless arguments or hate being thrown everywhere, we are so united, someone takes the lead and we all immediately follow and make miracles happen... Just as a Crew.

I'm so thankful to y'all crazy people! Cast, producers, fandom... You're genuinely the best! Because of you, because of this show, I finally feel that there is hope to be found that the world can become a better place, that this can be the start of something huge, I honestly believe this is a unique phenomenon and it has made history... We are making history at every step. We are creating a new world of kindness and diversity where we can all just be who we are and have fun and just - be happy!

Season Secrets: July 31st

If you don’t stick to you boundaries , you will suffer - it’s not a warning , it’s a promise.

This has been said and will continue to be said because it needs to be engraved. This isn’t a dating hacks post , telling you to pretend to be busy so as to put up a front, no baby, this is a post to tell you regardless of what you are doing your boundaries come first . Jobless or not ( but do invest in a hobby ,love, you can’t have time boundaries then do nothing with your time)

Small Boundaries

In my opinion, the most significant boundaries are the small ones because If you break those for someone , they will see you for what you are and they won’t respect you in the long run. If you sleep at 10 and that man calls at 10:30 , what are you doing picking up the phone ? You should be asleep with your phone on DND. He knows you sleep early but chooses to call late without even a text- it’s a no from me. If you workout at 5PM but your girl calls at 4:45 telling you to take her out and you drop all your plans for her right there , then I have to break it to you hun, you not prioritizing yourself and your plans (in terms of bettering yourself because disclaimer, you can’t always be too busy for your partner, check yourself there.) is not attractive and they know it. Partners, especially if your messing with a person who’s been ‘around the block’, can sense it when you crave their validation so much that you don’t respect yourself and your time and they will use it to their advantage. So my love , the next time you’re in the middle of a writing an important essay and they call and ask if you’re free, say no and give them a time that works for you. If plans aren't made in advance they should not get in the way of any plans you had made before.

How to respond in such situations.

At the end of the day , communication is always best and I’m about to show you how to use it.

Situation 1 : Calling after your bedtime.

- Tell them that you don’t pick up calls past a certain time and if they want to reach you , they should call before then.

- If it’s about to reach your bedtime and you are still on the call , please you know better , sleep. The only exception here, is if you know you have no obligations the next day or if your partner is crying on the phone about something ( we can’t lose empathy trying not to get played but do be wary. People out here really know how to tug at your heart strings as a means of manipulation). From experience, if you consistently extend the calls, you will always end up extending the calls and they will know you prioritize their presence instead of your discipline and again , it’s not a good look but also you’re letting yourself down. It’s always the little things.

Situation 2: Asking you out when you’re busy.

- Tell them you are busy , you don’t have to tell them with what if you don’t want to , then include a time in which you will be free .

It’s sounds a little like this: ‘Damn , I’m not really free right now but I will be in the next 30 mins or so . Can I call you back at that time’

In general, it’s okay to be busy but it’s not okay to not put in effort for the person you like hence always give a time in which you’re free or best case scenario, decide a time between you and your partner specifically for the both of you and stick to it.

Big boundaries.

It goes without saying that , these are more than important and the good thing about these, they aren’t hard to miss.

One of my big boundaries is that I would never date someone who’s favourite everyday past time is partying/alcohol/drugs/gambling. I’ve been there and it’s not fun at all.

The issue: They will rarely pick you when it comes down to it. If they do, I’m happy for you but loves , how sure are we that the person you fancy would stop for you. This will lead to more problems along the way because the little money they get ,will be recklessly spent funding the addiction they claim they don’t have or the little time you have with them will be spent with you trying to bond with someone who’s buzzed out of their mind . I don’t know about you but I’m a sucker for attention so that’s definitely a no for me.

This is one of my most significant boundaries, and I used to tell myself that it was fine. I made rules such as "if you don’t do it in front of me it’s okay" or "if you only do it in certain places it’s okay". It wasn’t okay and I’ve learnt that. At the end of the day , they still do it and it will bother you , whether it’s the fact that you can smell it, their decreased attention span, or the anxiety you feel. Compromising to stay with them will lead to resentment and the thought that says "it’s okay" is a liar. So whatever your major boundaries are , honor them.

When talking about boundaries, it is also important to talk about grace. Sometimes people genuinely don’t know (unless of course you directly told them). I was talking to a friend of mine about red flags within both of us and she said , ‘ a big one for us would be to limit our saltiness when we hear what we don’t want to hear or when our partners don’t respond in the way we want them to. Let say , you tell them about how someone told you got bigger but they don’t see anything wrong with it because to them it’s just a story like any other day since they don’t understand or know your insecurities surrounding your size. We might have a right to get mad of course but not when they don’t understand. Obviously it’s great having someone who always knows what to do or say without you voicing it but they can’t read your mind so you have to give them the grace to learn how to treat you well.’

It is so important to give your partner grace because they give you grace as well but don’t let yourself become a door mat in the process.

Things Final Fantasy III does not tell you about Final Fantasy III.

When it comes to RPGs, information that the player has is far from a guarantee. Some games will tell players practically everything about their systems and leave it to the player to use that information. Others will leave some mechanics in the background, quietly applying them without the player's knowledge. The Final Fantasy III remake falls into the latter category, as there are some mechanics that the player may not realize even exist unless they look outside of the game. Here are seven of them.

This is based on the Future Press Official Strategy Guide. As far as SGs go, it seems pretty close to the Japanese SE guide (baring at least one case).

Party Member Levels (Life of the Party)

While temporary party aren't directly controllable, they seem to have their own levels and stats. Interestingly the Future Press strategy guide states that they also have stats. Though I should clarify: At this time, I have yet to find these in the Japanese strategy guide, so I am not entirely sure that these are accurate. However, the FP guide in general is close to the Japanese guide in terms of technical information, so I am willing to accept that risk.

These are:

Sara: Lv 5 (Str/Vit/Agi/Min: 6, Int: 7)

Cid: Lv 3 (Str/Agi: 5, Vit/Int/Min: 8)

Desch: Lv 10 (Str: 15, Vit: 10, Agi: 14, Int: 7, Min: 6

Aria: Lv 25 (All: 25)

Alus: Lv 30 (All: 35)

Doga/Unei: Lv 50 (All: 45)

Some observations:

The guide notes that the characters stats are usually significantly higher than the main characters' at the same levels. This is especially noticeable with Alus (The party's base stats, by compare, will be: Str/Agi: 24, Vit/Min/Int: 20)

Cid is the only party member to be weaker than the character before him (Sara), presumably due to how little time the party spends with him. He does have an impressively strong hammer, though.

Despite being portrayed as a White Mage, Sara's Int (7) is slightly higher than her Min (6).

It seems that after Desch, the devs kinda gave up with making varied stats, so Aria, Alus, Doga and Unei have the same number for all their stats.

Coincidence or otherwise, Aria's stat number also matches her level.

Doga and Unei share the same levels and stats as each other, a distinction no other party member has. For extra fun, Xande is also level 50, although his actual stats are unfortunately but understandably different.

Alus, a 10 year old boy is somehow twice as strong as Desch, a grown man.

Mognet Details (Stampin' N Stompin')

Most of Mognet's discussion usually begins and ends with it being connected to the sidequests. Because of this, there are a few features of Mognet that go undernoticed.

One particular aspect is the cards: For meeting the Legendary Smith with a mastered job and defeating the Iron Giant, the party can get cards signifying their mastery.

(I have yet to defeat the Iron Giant. I apologize for being a fraud).

In the PSP and Steam versions, these cards are mostly just rewards. In the DS version, however, they can be used as stamps for Mognet. And while the Iron Giant is purely to flaunt your superiority over the beast, the job mastery cards actually allow players to help out other players: If a player holding a signed letter runs into the Legendary Smith, she will give the player the respective job mastery item without having a level 99 job. While it doesn't break the game, due to how late it is before you can encounter the Smith, it does cut down on the grind you'd need if you wanted those items.

Encounter Frequency (Fights in the A.M. P.M. F.M.)

In Octopath Traveler, a later game by Team Asano, entering a new location will usually show you a danger level, giving you a general idea of how strong the enemies in that area are. While the mechanic is visible in OT, it was actually deployed discreetly in Final Fantasy III: Each area has a level that the guides recommend the player be at. However, the game itself uses a more subtle method: If your party is below the recommended level, the encounter rate will be higher than usual. By contrast, the further above the recommended level that the party is (up to six levels), the lower the encounter rate will be.

For example: The Nepto Shrine has a Danger Level of 10. If the party made it to the Shrine at level 7, then they will likely encounter more enemies than they would at level 10. By contrast, at level 16, they will have a chance at encountering the least amount of enemies.

Attack Types (SMASH! SLASH! STAB!)

In Final Fantasy III, elemental weaknesses are clear and easily implied by the fact that Mages have themed spells. However, the game also has a second, subtle weakness system: Attack Types, the physical counterpart.

The four attack types are

Unhanded: Despite the name, Claws are also included

Blow: Weapons that focus on slamming or bludgeoning the foe

Cut: Weapons that actually cut the foe, like Swords

Stab: Weapons that stab or have a stab-like effect, like Arrows

Interestingly, some weapons aren't mutually exclusive: Axes count for both blows and cuts, Knives count for both stabs and cuts and Unarmed counts for both Unhanded and Blow.

Hands (The Hands of Fate)

The Hand stat is a secret stat that the game silently keeps track of for each character. The hand stat represents how many times a physical attack has been made with a particular hand, the hand getting 3 XP for each use. Much like job levels only one hand level can be gained per battle, regardless of how many points are racked up. Theoretically, if you can have hands of different levels, although given how much III encourages dual-wielding, it's unlikely.

The FP guide recommends using the Ranger's barrage if you want to build up the hand stat, as that is a multi-hit attack that nonetheless counts each hit for the hand.

Weight (The Weight of the World)

Weight is not a new mechanic to Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy V, in particular has the stat help to determine who quickly a character acts (i.e. how fast the ATB bar fills up). However, V is the rare game where the game will actively inform the player of its existence. Other games in the series have it, including III (at least, in the remake).

Weight, along with Agility, determines how soon a character will act during the turn, as well as how many hits a character does (alongside the aforementioned Hand stat). This is why a Warrior with an axe will generally hit less than a Warrior with a sword, despite having higher attack. Interestingly magic also has weight to it with spells having a specific weight/cast time to it.

Boss Scripts (Script Write)

Bosses changing strategy mid-fight has been a Final Fantasy staple since at least Final Fantasy IV (Zeromus, for example, only starts to spam Meteo when he's close to dying), so the FF3 remake isn't particularly new or original for using this. Still, it's something to be aware of in case you make a particular fight harder than it needs to be.

A likely candidate for this is actually the final boss: While the Cloud of Darkness uses Particle Beam (and spams it during the last phase), it actually doesn't use the move until it's down to 80% of its HP, using the less threatening standard attack instead. This means that a player willing to take some turns to lower the danger can focus on the tentacles, which are the more immediate threat.

The third and last time I️ saw him was the worst. While at the quince, he asked if I️ could pick him up from bourbon street (during Mardi Gras mind you, like that’s crazy) and me being kind, agreed. So I️ was forced to leave the party early to get him. When I️ picked him up, he asked if I️ was staying over that night and I️ was confused and reminded him of our previously agreed upon plans and he had the nerve to flip out on me in MY CAR?? And said that he was tired and didn’t want to stay out till late like a teenager (I️ was freshly turned 23, he was 25 so like???) and then when I️ reached his house he sarcastically told me thank you for the ride and slammed my car doors. I’ve never been treated horribly like that before (I️ always demand princess treatment, my father would’ve killed him if I️ told him all this) so I️ broke down in my car wondering what the fuck just happened 😭?

And you would think this would be the party where I️ just go drink with my friends and forget abt him but NO. Just as I️ finished my 5 min crying session and calling my friends for support, he texts me that he’ll go with me but said he’s not gonna enjoy it 💀? And I️ was like okay…maybe we can just talk abt this? (You know, LIKE ADULTS!) but he got back into my car and was silent the whole time I️ drove to the club. I️ parked in the parking lot, told my friend I️ was on my way but my phone was dying so that was the last she heard from me for a while. I️ go to change in the backseat because I’m still in a gown from the party and change into a shorter dress and he follows trying to feel me and kiss me and I️ let him because truthfully, I️ am 4’11 and he’s like 6’3 and we were alone so I️ was kind scared for my life 😭 when he felt my hesitation, he went off on me again saying I️ wasn’t affectionate and in my head I’m like bro, we just met and you already showing your crazy like u scaring the hoes rn. I️ follow him, feeling…idk what and that’s when he noticed he was the tallest guy there (because duh 6’3 white man). I️ turned around, let him look, he demanded I️ help him, I️ refused at that point, and then he slams my car doors AGAIN and calls me a useless fucking bitch and stuck his middle finger out at me and yes besties that was finally the straw that broke the camel’s back for me!

Once I️ drove off he then continued to insult me on text abt how I️ stole his things and demanded I️ pay him back and me being a Capricorn, that’s where I️ decided to draw the line. First up since I'm talking about the 4 different cases, it will be longer(I just came back from a club activity and it's pretty late for me) But I will also put in this ask my answer to the replies from @anonymousfeh in the other 2 asks. Riddle

First up, this boi finds the watch while he tries to go after Adeuce once he heard these idiots were sent to the mines. At first he thought the 2 got hurt and rushed there only to find the omnitrix and from there it spirals into chaos. This actually prevents Riddle from collaring Ace for the tart slice, as he was just in panic mode all night and was glad that at least Adeuce were alright. He even is the one who gives them some midnight snack(just not the tart as it was for the party), so the 2 pretty much first think of Riddle as just a guy who overthinks way too much. Please give him an ibuprofen. :'3

So Riddle of course it takes a bit for him to process the whole thing, which makes him to become a bit more lenient with the rules, in favor of hiding this (most likely if word got out, Riddle would either be dissected or killed on the spot in his vision). Of course, at first, Riddle decides that if he wants to avoid an accidental transformation, he had to learn how to use the goddamn thing, thing which he does only in his room with everything locked and pulled over. This is how he realises he could have full and half transformations too.

Definitely Pesky Dust was one of Riddle's first full transformations purely by accident. He hated he was so smol, but alas it was only for 10 mins so he couldn't complain too much. :'3

In hindsight Riddle doesn't overBlot because he was busy with hiding and getting used to all of this. Thankfully once the omnitrix recalibers properly, it becomes more of a panja's bracelet, which is slim enough so Riddle could hide it with some leather gloves. Nobody really questions it at all since he wears them almost every time. :'3

For Riddle, he would have other aliens or villains who just want to reek havoc almost every week. He's just trying really hard to keep it together, but uses the omnitrix to a villain attack only when the situation is actually calling for it.(even then, he firstly hides and makes sure he's not seen at all) :'3

Kalim

My man straight up found it before his 2nd year at NRC and Jamil was literally next to him when the omnitrix latched on and Kalim accidentally turned into 4 arms. That day was the day Jamil actually fainted on spot. Doesn't help that Kalim wasn't really that aware of how strong was as 4 arms so chaotic hours.

But because Kalim found it pre NRC return, when he goes in his 2nd year, his omnitrix is fully calibrated as a gold slim watch, which blends perfectly in between his other golden bracelets and shit. So he pretty much got a taste of almost all of his possible transformations and is used to them. In here, Jamil's overBlot is Kalim's turning point, where he actually tries to just go on his own and become self independent. Add to that the responsibility that comes with the omnitrix, he has a lot on his plate.

For him, much like everyone will come around, the weekly villains are more often than not handled by the NRC Students. Jamil insists that Kalim must not let them know he has such a powerful device on him, let alone play superhero with it. So very little actually villains show up because no one has any idea that the omnitrix is actually at Kalim.

Epel

Epel found the omnitrix pre-NRC, but with no chance of actually transforming before NRC. So he tests it out in the spur of the moment, when he has his fight with Vil.

So Vil becomes more like a mentor figure. Rook is just a supporter of any shit Epel gets up to using the omnitrix. Once it does recalibrate, Vil seems pleased with the very delicate design while Epel is a bit salty about it.

And Epel absolutely hates pesky dust. Be it half or full transformation. Way big is probably one he likes mostly cuz ✨tall✨. :'3

Epel is mostly the closest to how Ben deals with villains of the week. But Vil tells him to keep identity hidden so Epel can't flex on it for shits and giggles(and also punt Ace if he continues teasing him). Doesn't mean he can't just chew Vil's carpets as Wildmutt. Kind of revenge for not letting him flex. :'3

Idia

Idia finds it in a similar fashion as Riddle. But that night he didn't go to for the first years, he just happened to go for a delivery in the city a bit late and stumbled upon it when he was coming back. At first he was absolutely down on poking the thing, but his curiosity turns into panic when the omnitrix latches into his arm and accidentally turns into an alien. But when he does calm down, he rushes to his room.

Ortho finds out in aproximatively 0.01 secs once he sees his brother. He is just as curious and the 2 realise very fast how the basics of it works. As such, they discover pretty fast the notion of half and full transformations. Idia tries to opte for halfs most times since at NRC magic is pretty important, including in conflicts. And since the Shrouds have very weak magic overall, complementing it with a half transformation only brings benefits. Idia uses a few times pesky dust to spy around, mostly since it gets easily passed off as just another fairy roaming the halls with some sort of job.

No one figures it out that Idia has something changed. He's still a shut in, he still wears baggy sleeves and he still is absolute shit at PE. Yet his omnitrix does recalibrate and turns into a fingerless glove, which that may gain a few eyebrow raises but nothing to not swipe under the 'he got hyped about some game/anime again' carpet.

For his villains of the week, Idia is very versatile because he actually takes time to think through. Chapter 6 tho, is when emotions get the best of him. He tries to use his power to try and save Ortho from the overBlot, but not only he fails(he doesn't overBlot), his secret got exposed and he is only left with Ortho's memory card and the fact that he failed one of his most important missions up until now. It's just a very important point for Idia as he learns to cope again with his failures and tries to just be better in general.

Stolen Dance (Maeve/Azrael)

Hey everyone! This is the first fic we have for the crew! It is between Maeve and Azrael! You can check out both of their bios on our page if you know nothing about them. When Maeve needs a plus one for a Cabaretti dance, she decides to take one of her oldest friends. 

It was a slow day at the Broker’s main law office. Maeve stretched, her back protesting against the hours of filing contracts. She took a sip of lukewarm coffee, barely flinching at the feel of it sliding down her throat. There were more cases to process. More contracts to go over. More… 

She paused. She looked at the time. 

Ah. Fuck. 

The big ball. The very big, major ball between the Families. The one happening in… Maeve checked the clock. About 3 hours. 

Fuck. 

Maeve hurriedly shoved the papers she was working on into her desk and locked it with the key she kept around her neck. She was going to be late, even more than fashionably late, and she absolutely needed a plus one. At this very late hour. 

She knew she could probably ask Ru. Ru never really set up his plus ones, and mostly just showed up to parties like this, and found his plus one there. However, she would also get teased relentlessly for at least the next month if she asked him. But, thinking of Ru… 

That gave Maeve an idea.

Maeve took a deep breath, and waltzed into the room, putting on her best schmaltzy grin.

“Heyyyyy Az! How’s it going!” Maeve leaned across the desk, getting inches away from him, showing off her elaborate outfit in full.  

Azreal looked up at her. “Hello Maeve. Planning to go to the ball tonight?”

“I… was actually! And I was wondering… if you wanted to come? As my plus one?” Maeve did her best puppy dog eyes. 

Azreal matched her grin. “Well…” He drawled, dragging out the sentence as long as possible. “I’m not really doing anything tonight… so I guess so.” 

Maeve smirked “Well, at the very least, we’ll probably piss off Ru when he sees us walk in together.” 

Azreal smirks back, and that’s when Maeve knows he’s interested.

The dance is… fantastic. Maeve takes Azreal through a lazy waltz, letting him mostly lead and twirl her around. It’s been awhile since Maeve has just been in Azreal’s space, without any… ahem. Intentions. She’s almost forgotten how nice it is, to have his wings brush against her shoulder, to have him encircle her. He’s so much taller than her, and his eyes are always entrancing. She steps closer into him, and mentally gives herself a point for the excellent decision to put on expensive perfume as he clearly sniffs her neck. His clawed hand wraps around her back, and she drapes her arm across his shoulder as he dips her, and Maeve can feel her heart speed up. She also knows Azreal can probably hear it too. 

He pulls her up, into a close embrace, clearly enjoying this just as much as she is. He whispers into her ear. 

“So, you want to do something… criminal tonight?” he asks, eyes glittering with joy, and all Maeve can think is 

Oh. Oh I’m so fucked. 

-i can’t write a whole heist scene in 10 mins I just want the good character dynamics-

Maeve and Azreal fall out of the tiny closet they were squished in to hide from the security guards, the incredibly expensive painting they just stole tucked under Azreal’s arm, giggling like maniacs. 

“I… I can’t believe that worked. I thought we were so dead. I thought we were so fucked” Maeve snorted, stumbling into Azreal’s arm. Azreal himself is shaking with laughter, and they both have to lean on each other to continue standing up. Maeve attempts to muffle her shaky laughter into Azreal’s shoulder, but that just makes it more difficult to walk. 

They make it outside, just in time to get out before the host notices his missing painting and locks down the house to search for it. Maeve gives a jaunty wave to Ru, still stuck inside. He glares at her. She grins at him. 

Maeve and Azreal make it to the sidewalk and sit down on the curb as the adrenaline starts to wind down. It’s brisk, the wind dropping the temperature just enough that Maeve shivers. The moon is high in the sky, the night clear, and Maeve isn’t looking at any of it, because Azreal breaks out into laughter again, and she can’t help but be caught up in it. Their shoulders brush, and Maeve has a sudden urge to make this moment never end. She snuggles back into his shoulder, and his wing curls around her, and it is perfect.

Part 1: Harry’s Heart tattoo

This post is in three parts:

When Harry got the Heart tattoo

70 Heart Kisses (1D years), and

70 Heart Kisses continued. (Solo career)

The amazing @womanexile and @this-daydream-is-dangerous-13 started this off with finding a good chunk of these. Thank you @cntfightmydemonsthyknowhowtoswim for your amazing timeline help. This is by no means complete, which I think is impossible.

It’s also important to note that only Harry knows what this tattoo is about, why he kisses it or if that is for one person and who that may be. Below is a list of times he has kissed it with other events at that time. To me, many kisses appear to be about personal milestones.

22 June 2012 - Arm kiss - Harry kissed this part of his arm during ‘More than this’ at radio Disney (3:13). Some fans edit this footage, I think watching it in context seems quite different to some edits. 

Many edits of this and other kisses also often cut the song out completely, Harry seems to express something he’s thinking so the song matters. When Harry introduced ‘More than This’ in the Listening Party for Up All Night he said it was his favorite song on the album and ‘a deep one’. The song is about a shy guy being sad his love interest is with someone who loves her less - wondering if it is because he is shy and he gets the courage to ask her. 

Harry and Taylor had been together since 20 May 2012. 15 May Taylor wrote Run with Ed Sheeran with the lyric “there’s a heart on your sleeve, I take it when you leave and hold it for you”

10 June - Taylor wrote in her Journal: "God I've been having such a beautiful life lately. I can't believe it. It's like there's magic in the air". 

15 June - Harry got the Won’t stop till we surrender tattoo, close to here on the underside of his arm, on the anniversary of Taylor having the same song as arm lyrics. 

16 June - Ed had said that Harry ‘was taken’ (21 mins). 

18-21 June - 1D had a week off and Harry and Taylor were in LA and then unseen. Liam and Niall did several twitcams, Louis with Eleanor everyday in LA, Zayn left LA.

21 June - their first day back at work was the blank arm kiss, both were still in LA. 

23 June - the band left LA and said Harry was the best wing man with the worst luck with girls for himself. Liam called him a lonely old man and Harry looked sad. In the same interview Harry said his favorite 1D song was I Want (about a girl that wants material things) and Kings of Leon’s Use Somebody (about being lonely while touring) as his favorite of other artists. 

26 June - Harry was seen crying outside what is said to be a radio station.

1 July - (a week after Harry and Taylor were last together) Taylor was first seen with Connor Kennedy. Harry then started being pictured on random dates. 

So the arm kiss during a song about a shy guy’s love being with the wrong guy followed the band saying he had had some terrible luck with ladies then Taylor started publicly dating Connor. 

Heart Tattoo

Taylor was last seen with Connor 19 August, Harry got Never Gonna Dance Tattoo 2 days later. By 4 September 1D and Taylor were both in LA for VMA rehearsals, the public saw the first photo of them together. 

24 September - Harry tells Nick Grimshaw they are filming tour screens for 3 days. Neither love banner nor heart tattoo in the tour screens.

25 September- Harry gets the Love Banner Tattoo (covered by the left sparrow in Nov). It is assumed the Heart Tattoo also, because it’s not in the tour screens.

26 September - Niall told Nick Grimshaw they had a press day. Harry's heart tattoo can be seen on Chart Show TV, seems to be not filled or still healing. The band do a lot of interviews that day, at some point Harry gets moved so his arm is away from the camera and in some his arm is cut off the frame. The videos are used by many outlets throughout October and November. 

27 September - Entertainment on demand is first to run where the Tattoo is visible.

30 September - Harry MIA and Taylor in Paris to film Begin Again

1- 15 October - in London together, 1D and Taylor both perform Teen Choice Awards  

17 October - Harry posted pink and blue heart tattoo photo. Taylor also shared a lover journal entry for October 17, 2012, LA where she wrote this Love lyrics.

Tattoo meaning

We don’t know the meaning. To me, having kissed his bare arm in this place hints that it was planned, I think the timing may have been purposeful, as several tattoos seem to be. Perhaps he achieved the goal in “more than this” (Overcome shyness to be with his partner). Harry also seems to have meaning in when he kisses the right arm. I wonder if some of those are about a different partner or because he was not dating Taylor. Harry also kissed ‘Things I can’ after some break ups. The kisses on the anatomical heart seem to have a similar meaning to the first heart, but maybe a more mature love. He had also kissed the anchor. 

Songs 

The next 2 posts are a timeline of 70 times Harry has kissed his arm (actually 77 for a 10% margin of other tattoos/arm and coughs). Harry has kissed his heart in more than 30 songs. In this list, You and I, Sweet Creature and Two Ghosts/Falling have the most kisses. Followed by LOML, Night Changes, and Last First Kiss. The most heart kisses are actually in 2022, followed by 2014, in tie for third is 2015 and 2021. 

The marker heart

A well trodden but poorly referenced story is that on the X-factor Tour (February - April 2011) Harry once had a heart drawn in marker on his arm. 

The earliest I can find this photo posted is here in a group of photos on 7 July 2011. It is taken in a dressing room, you can see Lou Teasdale in the background, her name is on his chest and Lou has the same tattoo. Lou’s then boyfriend Tom Aitken also has this tattoo. 

Tom tattooed Harry’s “Never Gonna Dance” the month before Harry got the heart and said that Lou’s Heart was first and that ‘Harry’s is kind of diff. It’s quite a popular one’. They also drew it on their baby in marker. 

Other members of 1D have heart tattoos in a different place or design, this post is about why matching tattoos ….match. 

I’ve read “when Harry turned 18 he got it tattooed”. Harry got the Star when he turned 18, this was 8 months and 17 tattoos later. He got the tattoo at a time that was meaningful to him.

In the 2011 timeline there’s fair indication Harry and Taylor knew each other then anyway.

Taylor also had a marker heart on her foot on the Debut CD. In this interview she talked about getting it tattooed if Debut went double platinum, (now x7, but she didn’t.) However I don’t think either marker heart has special meaning other than Harry planned this tattoo.
