“You have got to be kidding me,” The Shadow Singer grumbled as the High Lord told him we’ve been partnered for his next mission.
“Unfortunately, he’s not,” I huff to the tall male, just as annoyed as him. “Rhys with all due respect, I work alone,” Azriel contended and I scoff. “Does that apply to your love life too?” I quip but they both ignore me. “I know Az, but Eris likes her, he’s more likely to play by our rules if we use her as bait,” Rhys says. “It’s just a meeting, the both of you only have to get along for a few hours,” He hums and I roll my eyes, I couldn’t refuse the offer, he was paying me double for this. “Fine,” Azriel uttered, the fool agreed for free.
“Good, you leave at sunset,” The half-fae instructs then quickly dismisses the both of us when his mate comes into his office, a babbling Nyx in her arms. “Hi sweetie,” I coo at the two-year-old as I pass Feyre on the way out. “Auntie!” He exclaims with a bright smile. The High Lady waved at me and I returned it. “Be careful on your mission tonight,” She advises and I brush her off. “It’s just a meeting, nothing to be worried about.” I smile. “Oh, I wasn’t referring to your assignment,” Her eyes flick to Azriel and my lips form an ‘o’ shape in realization. She chuckled then gave me a wink as the Shadow Singer passed by me, muttering a curse under his breath. I return her smile then nod in a farewell and go the opposite direction down the hall.
The Spring Court was a lot duller than I had expected. Sure the flowers were in bloom and the sun still seeped through the trees but, there was no vibrancy to the colors. “Feyre really did a number on this place,” I hum, looking out at the deserted Court. It still held some beauty, the crystal clear lakes with lily pads floating heedlessly, the rolling hills, and flower fields.
“I kind of feel bad for him,” I mutter, bending down and plucking a daisy from a patch sprouting out the trunk of a maple tree. “Don’t,” Azriel huffed. We were on the border between Spring and Autumn so there was a weird merging between wildlife, the magnolia trees slowly shifting into maples, bunnies sectioned from foxes, and lush forests morphing into rustic woods.
“Are we early or is he just trying to make an entrance?” I sigh, already bored. “Early,” He replies and my shoulders sag. “Can you only respond with one-word answers?” I narrow my eyes on the Shadow Singer. He smirks. “No,” He says and I grit my teeth, looking down at the daisy in my hands.
We go silent for a moment. I stare out at the dusky sky, the last of the sun slipping below the hills. He seems content to continue staring at me, much to my dismay. I didn’t know what for, it’s not like he had to keep an eye on me, and there was nothing I could do that his shadows wouldn’t report back to him, they were often all over me, seemingly out of his control when I was around.
“What?” I snap my head back to him after only a minute, his stare becoming too physical, like I could feel the way his eyes traced my features. “Why are you dressed like that?” He tilts his head. I look down at my gown with creased brows. It was a silk slip, a rich mocha color. I look at what he’s wearing, his usual leathers. “It’s a meeting Azriel, we’re not battling warriors,” I remark. “Is it because we’re meeting with Eris?” He tilts his head. I cross my arms. “What’s that supposed to mean?” I bite back. “That you’re trying to impress him,” He surmises.
“Nuh-uh!”
“Nuh uh?” He mocks. “That’s your defense?” The brunette scoffs and my frown deepens, leaning against the tree at my back. “I wore the dress ‘cause I didn’t wanna change, okay?” I explain with narrowed brows. “And it’s not my fault he admires me,” I add. “Not that you know the feeling,” I murmur under my breath but of course, he heard it.
He takes a menacing step forward, shadows turning sporadic around him and I roll my eyes on the dramatics of it— anyone else would’ve been begging for forgiveness just by looking into the darkness of his eyes. “What was that?” His hand comes to my chin, forcing my head toward him. I jerk out of his hold with a grimace.
“I said you don’t know what it’s like to be admired, or do you need a reminder that you’ve been chasing the same girl for five hundred years?” This time I was the one to take a step forward, my chest nearly pressed to his. “Because newsflash Az, she doesn’t want you—” I start but his hands come to my wrists and pull them up above my head, pinning me to the tree, his other hand on my hip so I can’t thrash.
His nostrils flared, eyes ablaze and I nearly laughed. “You’re constantly teetering on that edge huh? Can’t ever keep your temper in check?” I arch a brow up at him, my smirk only widens as I watch him grit his teeth. He knew what I meant. Knew that he pounced on anyone who damaged his fragile ego, and talked down on his precious family, gods forbid I mention Morrigan. His hold moves from my waist to my neck, wrapping his large hand entirely around my throat, softly squeezing.
“You’re choking me,” I whisper out and the sadistic fuck has a smile on his face. “You seem like the type to be into that,” He presumes and he wouldn’t be far off if this was a different situation. I flush pink at the idea, it’d be a lie if I said I hadn’t imagined the Spymaster on top of me more than once. My cheeks were burning hot, I was beyond embarrassed, and slightly turned on.
“Not so talkative now, are we?” He was so close, so close his body was pressed to my own, our breath shared as his face hovered above mine, cauldron damn his height.
“Let me go,” I pull at my wrists but his grip is iron, and maybe my attempts were halfhearted because, in all honesty, I didn’t want to leave this position one bit. “You learn your lesson yet? Or are you gonna keep being a brat?” He hums and arousal pools in my panties. I quickly glamour the scent, praying he didn’t recognize it before I got the chance. “Fuck you,” I seethe, continuing my futile attempts to escape. “Such a filthy mouth, you wanna put it to better use?” He asks and if I wasn’t red before I definitely was now. “In your dreams,” I hiss. “Oh love, it is,” He smirks, and my brain stutters. What’d he just say?
My pointed ears perk before I can reply, noticing an unfamiliar pair of footsteps. Not Eris.
“Someone’s coming, kiss me,” I say with a rushed tone. “What?” His hand loosened around my neck. “Just—” I don’t finish and interrupt myself by lifting onto my toes and crashing my lips against his.
He seems taken aback for a moment then to my surprise, leans into it. I melt at the feeling. He was tentative at first but once I showed him this was what I asked for he seemed almost, hungry. His hand slips from my throat and cups my jaw instead, calloused thumb pulling at my bottom lip and forcing them open. I can’t help but obey his silent command, parting my lips wider so he can capture me fully. His mouth seals over mine yet again and my stomach ties into knots, the thrumming sensation in my ribcage making me realize this was a point of no return.
His tongue explored my mouth like it was his and his alone, he was devouring me and I savored every moment. An energy buzzed between us, my wrists still pinned up by his hold, but I wasn’t any less greedy with my lips. I wanted him to taste me, to memorize me, and never forget the feel of his lips on mine, I wanted it to hurt when he had to pull away. Languid movements with his tongue turn into messy, impatient strokes, needing all of me right then and there— and I would’ve given it to him if not for that pair of footsteps returning, so much closer this time.
“What’s going on here?” A gruff voice demands answers and Azriel hesitantly detaches, like he was unwilling.
It takes me a moment to even open my eyes, gods if he’s got me this paralyzed over just a kiss who knows how much more I could take? Azriel lets go of my wrists and I regain consciousness.
“I’m sorry Officer,” I put on my most innocent smile. The male in front of me was Autumn Court patrol, lower in rank based on the patches on his arms. “What’s an Illyrian doing so far from home?” He snarled the word like it was a curse. “We’re traveling sir,” I say, intertwining my hand with Azriel’s. He stiffens at the action as if I didn’t just have his lips on mine. “Travelin’?” The officer scoffs. “Out here?” He hums. “Yes sir, it’s our honeymoon,” I grin wildly, trying to capture the excitement of newlyweds as I hold our linked hands up.
The officer raises his brows a fraction, he was buying it. He was visibly older, you had to be ancient as a fae to start having wrinkles and this guy had plenty. “You know, I feel like I recognize you,” He hums and I swallow thickly. It was more likely for Azriel to get recognized out of the two of us, so the Shadow Singer didn’t take his chances and stuffed his face into my neck, lining kisses from my shoulder to my jaw. My hand goes into his hair, weaving my fingers into his soft, dark locks as I continue carrying on the conversation.
“Really? What from?” I tilt my head, resting my luck. “Not quite sure…” He thinks for a moment. “Ah, forget it probably just confusing you with my granddaughter, she’s lovely like you,” He says and I giggle light-heartedly. “That’s sweet to hear,” I smile. “Alright you kids be safe, perhaps find an inn somewhere,” He starts his trek once more. “Thank you, officer!” I call to him and he gives me a wave.
I nearly cackle as Azriel pulls away from my neck, my lipgloss smeared along his lips. I reach up and wipe it away with a teasing smile. “Not much of a spymaster if I’m the one saving you, hm?” I say, hands cupping his cheeks. “You were the one distracting me in the first place,” He defended, crossing his arms and I snicker. “Awh, poor Illyrian baby is pouting 'cause I’m better at his job,” I taunt, his gaze on my lips as I talk.
“Well, that was quite the show,” A familiar, smooth voice intones from a short distance away and I whip my head towards the figure, leaning against a tree with an unmistakable foxlike smirk on his face. “How long have you been standing there?” Azriel questions and it seems like the Heir might laugh. “It’s truly a wonder how your shadows didn’t find me, though I suppose they’re preoccupied at the moment,” He gestures to the ground beneath me where they were pooling at my feet, flicking up and twining at my ankle every now and again, completely forgetting what their job was in my presence.
The meeting went smoothly, Azriel was a bit on edge with the lack of his Shadows but other than that Eris complied easily, he seemed to have something up his sleeve but we’d worry about that at a later date, we were only ensuring his loyalty was still with us.
He updated us on some information including his father, the two males briefing over a plan to take down Beron, and as I stood there I realized I was just for show, a shiny jewel for Eris to look at, keep his attention before he got the idea that he could survive on his own. Not that I minded being looked at by the Heir, he was quite pretty— hel, I’d be lying if I said I haven’t dreamed about both the males in front of me, at once, more than once.
Azriel shadow-walked us back to the House of Wind when we were finished, or rather when he was finished. I probably could’ve stayed a few more minutes just to admire Eris in the pale moonlight, but my plans just had to be foiled by the Shadow Singer.
Az flew me the rest of the way into the house bridal style— since you couldn’t winnow straight in due to the wards. His hold on me felt more familiar than usual, and when he put me down he didn’t step away so neither did I.
“Hey,” Cassian said from the dining table, a mouthful of food muffling his voice. We both swivel towards the male, sat next to Nesta who couldn’t be bothered to look up from her book to greet us. “How’d the mission go?” The brunette at the table said once he swallowed his food. We both stiffen, the memory of that kiss has been replaying in my head over and over since it ended and yet it felt odd for anyone else to bring it up.
“Uh, went nice…” I shrug. Nesta looks up from her page, eyes piercing as they read me like the chapters in her book. “Really?” She intervenes and I nod. “Yup, just, so normal,” Azriel blurts out, and for a Spymaster, he was awfully bad at lying. Cassian creased his brows, clearly concerned for his brother. “Why are you acting so weird, then?” Nesta interrogates and the male and I share a look. “I don’t think he’s acting weird,” I scoff. “Do you think you’re acting weird?” My words are fast like I only have one breath to finish my sentence. “Pshh, never,” He shakes his head, looking down at his feet then back up to Lady Death.
“Right, well, man am I exhausted,” I stretch, feigning a yawn. “Yeah, the mission really wore me out,” He sighs, rolling his shoulders like there’s a weight off of them, following me up the stairs towards the bedrooms.
Nesta looks to her mate, a small smirk on her lips. “What?” The lord of bloodshed says cluelessly. “They’re totally going to fuck,” She hums, sinking into her chair a little and picking her book back up.
Azriel and I split off into our respective bedrooms, just across the hall from each other.
I paced beside my closed door, wondering what the fuck was I thinking when I let him kiss me. Sure I’ve always thought he was pretty but that was always a stupid fantasy, not something I would ever pursue… until now. Fuck, I am so finished. I repeatedly hit my palm against my forehead as I racked my head for any thought that didn’t immediately trace back to him. I couldn’t even look at my own hands without thinking about his hands, how they held my jaw— no. I wasn’t going to let myself romanticize this, it was just a mission. Nothing more. Just a kiss. A yearning, passion-filled kiss that fed all my cravings and somehow created new ones.
I groaned, deciding that this was the finest form of torture. I now stand still in front of my door, hoping that if I stare hard enough at it, he’ll come knocking and kiss me again because, fuck, I do want him.
I can’t sit here and wait for him to come rescue me from my own torment so I do it myself, hand coming to the doorknob and before I can psych myself out, I fling the door open.
To my shock, I’m immediately met with Azriel’s figure, his hand up like he was just about to knock.
“You couldn’t even let me make an entrance?” He tilts his head and I roll my eyes. “Shut up and kiss me already,” I grab him by the collar of his leathers and pull him in, the door closing behind him as his lips crash onto mine yet again.

MASTERLIST
-----------------------
Maybe it wasn't the best idea you've ever had, but it wasn't like you planned this! You didn't plan to fall for one of your brother's best friends, someone that was a groomsman at his wedding, it just happened.
You and Quinn kept sharing looks during the start of the wedding reception. It was a dangerous game and you both knew it. Quinn and Brady were best friends, and both of your families were friends— you were terrified that too much was at risk with this relationship.
There wasn't a fear that your families wouldn't be happy about the relationship, because there was no doubt in your mind that everyone would be thrilled, it was the fear that your relationship would no longer be just yours.
It would be theirs, too. It would belong to your parents, Quinn's parents, Brady, Matthew, Taryn, Jack, Luke, and eventually all of the fans.
Your relationship would be under the scrutiny of the public eye. You'd be subjected to hate from Quinn's "fans," and probably your brothers's as well. You knew that some girls online tended to take every single blink as a chance to over analyze a relationship from a player they obsess over. Many fans were supportive of the various WAGS, but there were a few that would be sobbing over the fact that Quinn is taken. These fans are the hunters, and you're a fox trying not to be caged.
Your relationship was fairly new, only a couple weeks old, and it started back when the Devils were still in the playoffs. There was a gap between one of Matthew's games and one of Jack and Luke's, so you hopped on a plane to go see one of them before Quinn got his wisdom teeth out. Quinn drove you back to your hotel at the end of the night and well... things spiraled from there.
Love was fragile. It could burn out. And in your experience, especially new love.
The more alcohol that you put into your system, the less careful you and Quinn were being. There were cameras everywhere, but it slipped your mind for just a moment. You two had been friends for a long time and an innocent touch surely wouldn't be enough for everyone's heads to turn, so you let it happen.
Quinn stood behind you with his hands on your waistline as you moved your hips to the music. You knew they were his hands before you even turned around, you were familiar with his touch at this point. It wasn't until you heard Luke whisper to Jack, "look!" that you had any concern.
"Let go, Quinn," you whispered to him. "Luke is looking suspicious."
"So let him," Quinn whispered back.
"Quinn," you groaned.
Quinn obliged to your concerns and took his hands off of you. He extended his hand towards you instead and lifted it up when you took it, a subtle motion signaling you to spin under his arm. You laughed as he did this, and to play it off like you were just two friends dancing, he called out to Luke to catch you as he spun you outward.
You fell into Luke laughing before you turned back to face Luke and threw your arms around his neck to dance to the beat with him.
"What was that about?" Luke asked you. You internally panicked, but outwardly remained calm.
"What was what about?" you laughed it off.
"Quinn's hands on you," Luke said, as if it were obvious. In his defense... it was.
"We were just dancing, Luke. I've known him forever! I've known you forever and now we're dancing! Is there something wrong with that?" you turned it all on him.
"No, no, nothing wrong with that," he said calmly. He was too smart for his own good and you knew it, but he was also respectful enough to not call you on your bluff.
Luckily, keeping an eye on you was the last thing on Brady and Matthew's minds with everything that's going on around them. As the night went on, Jack was getting drunker and Luke was on Jack duty, so Quinn's brothers were finally less of a problem.
All you wanted was to be with Quinn. If you two were further along in your relationship and unworried about your families, you two would be attached at the hip and having a good time. But everyone in your family was around. Grandparents and cousins and aunts and uncles. Everyone. Hell, even Josh kept eyeing you and Quinn. But the wine running through your veins was making you crave Quinn's touch even more.
All the happy couples surrounding you certainly weren't helping. Every kiss you caught a glimpse of made you think of Quinn's lips. His soft lips. You felt your face begin to heat up as your mind wandered too deep into memories of your last time with Quinn.
"I know that look," Quinn said as he walked up to stand beside you.
"I don't know what you're talking about," you feigned innocence. Your thoughts were nowhere near innocent.
Quinn stepped in front of you, dangerously close, "Yeah, you do. You've got that look on your face that you have while we're..." He leaned in close to whisper the rest of his sentence in your ear, "...alone."
You closed your eyes and gulped. He has you in the palm of his hand, and right now was not the best time to be feeling such things.
Quinn's hands found your hips and pulled you closer to be pressed up against him, "I don't think anyone's watching."
"Quinn..."
"Just one kiss," he proposed. "To get it out of our system."
You looked around and discovered that your boyfriend was right. Everyone was too wrapped up with the party to pay any mind to you two. You gave into him and wrapped your arms around his neck, kissing him softly.
Quinn brought a hand up to your cheek and cupped your face when you pulled away, "I love how red you get every time I kiss you."
Then it happened.
A flash. A camera flash to be exact.
You began to panic. Once Brady and Emma get all the wedding photos, your secret would be out. There was no chance that you could play off whatever the camera caught as something just between friends!
"Shit!" you said, a little too loudly.
Your big brother was more keen to you than you thought, because you saw Matthew spin around in search of you. Those stupid protective tendencies never shut off for him. He was the oldest. He felt responsible for his siblings. His protectiveness is normally your saving grace, but it was your number one enemy right now.
"I know a place where we won't be found," Quinn hurried out. You grabbed his hand, "Let's go."
You two dashed out of the reception hall, not too fast as to make a scene, but you weren't moving slowly.
You two were practically sprinting through the hotel towards the elevators once you escaped the reception hall.
"Quinn, your hotel room would be too obvious!"
"That's why we're going to Matthew's," he said as if it was obvious.
"What?!"
"He gave me his key to watch because he tends to lose things," Quinn explained. "Your brother's hotel room is the last place people would think to look. I don't even think Matthew knows which room he's in."
Quinn had a point. You were pretty sure if anyone actually saw anything it would be Matty, and his own hotel room was not going to be his first idea of places to look. You immediately pulled Quinn closer to you the second he got the door open. You kissed him hungrily as you walked backwards, only parting when he gently laid you down on the couch.
Quinn climbed on top of you and started to kiss you again. His tongue slipped into your mouth as his hands gripped your hips, wrinkling your bridesmaids dress between his fingers. You moaned into his mouth when he bit your lip, which only made him bite harder before he tugged and pulled away. He then trailed his lips across your jaw and down your neck. You gasped and gripped your hands onto the ends of his hair, feeling the oxytocin flood through your body now that you finally get to feel his touch.
His left hand found its way under your dress. He traveled up your thigh slowly, making you shudder. His fingers lightly grazed across your silk panties, teasing you as he snapped the top edge against your skin.
"Please," you whimpered. It's been so long since he was last able to touch you— really touch you. Long distance is hard, but a secret long distance relationship? It's hell. "I need you."
"We don't plan on going back down to the party, do we?" Quinn asked you low. You hummed a no, pursing your lips as you tried to keep it together. "Good," he smirked.
Your heartbeat quickened when he reached up a hand to caress your cheek, something he does when he wants you to look at him. You opened your eyes to stare into his greens, completely mesmerized by the hold this man has on you. Just with one touch he can get you to do what he wants and he knows it.
"I want you to beg," he instructed. He tilted his head and raised his eyebrows expectantly, and did so subtly.
"Please," you whined.
Quinn tutted in disapproval. He wanted more than that from you. He leaned down close to your ear as he slid his hand up your body to your tit and softly squeezed, "I'm going to need more than that, baby."
"Please, fuck me," you said with more urgency. He was driving you insane.
"Please, fuck me, what?" he smirked.
"Please, fuck me, Daddy."
Quinn gave you a sly smile, "Well... since you asked so nicely.”
– – –
Your naked frame laid atop of Quinn’s, your head against his chest, as the two of you fought to catch your breath. If you were home, at either of your homes, the notion of having to get up and get dressed wouldn’t even have even crossed your minds. And if it did, you would’ve laughed it off. You don’t get that luxury when you decide to sneak off during your brother’s wedding to your other brother’s hotel room.
“Q–”
“Don’t,” Quinn cut you off. He brought a hand up and ran it up and down through your hair, “Not yet. We have time.”
“How do you know?” you whispered.
“Because the world can’t be that cruel to me,” he mumbled, holding you tighter.
Turns out, the world could be that cruel to him. To both of you. Because the loud and rowdy voices of Matthew, Jack, and Luke were coming closer and closer.
You practically dived off of Quinn and started to put your dress back on. Quinn was frantically looking for his jacket before giving up entirely and going without it.
“Act drunk!” Quinn whisper shouted at you.
“What?!”
“Act drunk! Go sit by the toilet and act like you’ve been throwing up!”
You finally caught on to what Quinn was saying. There was no way you two could escape out of Matthew’s hotel room, but you could act like you intended to be in here. Quinn grabbed a hand towel and got it wet. He rubbed it across your face so it seemed like he had cleaned your face off post you throwing up. You then threw open the toilet lid and flushed it, hoping that the boys were close enough to have heard it. Quinn sat down on the bathroom floor with his back against the wall and his legs straight out, and you curled up into a ball and laid your head on his thigh. You weren’t drunk by any means, but you were pretty inebriated, so forcing yourself to cry like you normally do post throwing up wasn’t that hard.
You guess they went to the front desk to get another key to Matthew’s room, because instead of a knock, you heard the door click open. Matthew immediately heard your sniffles and rushed into the bathroom, “What’s wrong?!”
“Y/N got super drunk, and your room was closer than mine, sorry,” Quinn said softly, rubbing your back up and down.
“I didn’t see her drinking a lot,” Luke said suspiciously.
“She can be a lightweight if she doesn’t eat enough,” Matthew said, completely oblivious to what Luke was insinuating. He was crouched down on the ground trying to tend to you. He looked at Quinn, “I got her.”
Quinn helped move you into a position where Matthew could pick you up and carry you to the bed.
“I don’t feel good, Matty,” you fake cried.
“I know, Y/N/N,” Matthew shushed you. “I’m here, it’s okay.”
Matthew told Quinn to unmake the bed so that he could put you in it. Matthew gently laid you down and Quinn covered you up. Matthew left to get you some water and Advil and told Quinn to watch you.
“Next time, I’m picking the place,” you mouthed. Quinn silently chuckled and sent you a wink before leaning down to kiss your forehead.
“You got this?” Jack asked his brother.
“I had it before you got here, so…” Quinn trailed off.
“Alright, alright,” Jack said. “No need for sass!”
Jack left, but before Luke followed him, he stopped to look at you and Quinn. He looked out the door and when Jack was far enough away, he spoke.
“I won’t tell anyone,” Luke started.
“Yes! Oh my god, yes! Happy?” you shouted out, not lifting your head to look at him.
Luke smiled and looked back at Quinn, who sheepishly ran his fingers through his hair and nodded.
“I knew it!”
Quinn came back to you once Luke had left and knelt on the ground to be eye level with you.
“You put on quite the show just to cave and tell Luke,” he said.
“Yeah, well, your little brother is relentless,” you pouted.
“That he is,” Quinn laughed lightly.
“My brothers will make a big deal of it. I want the beginning of this relationship to be us figuring us out, not them telling us what our relationship is,” you told Quinn. Quinn grabbed your hands in his and kissed them, “Just as long as you know better places we can hide.”
“Trust me, Q, I know a lot of better places than my brother’s hotel room.”

Tumblr media
I’ve never considered owning hybrids.
I've always thought that they deserved to be free, and treated like people. Unfortunately in this state of politics it won't happen anytime soon.
Even then, the three hybrids who now live with me, almost seem like they wouldn’t operate on their own.
Tumblr media
San… my pretty panther.
He's always been bad at leaving the apartment. When he does, he wears headphones. One's specialized for hybrids to cancel out noise. He can’t handle crowded places, sounds of screams happiness, or fear, or simple everyday noises like bells. You never notice how common it is until you have a hybrid flinch and grip you so hard it causes skin and clothes to rip.
He’s exotic… and pretty but so so damaged.
He’s never wanted to sit down and talk to me about what it was like nor do I ever expect him to. He wants to forget… he’s cried out how he wishes he could forget.
If only I could grant that wish to him. On his month anniversary, – when it was only me and Wooyoung by his side – he asked if we could go to the park.
He loves watching TV. He also finds the sappy movies where you go to scenic places and just… soak it in. San couldn’t do that. That day a kid approached us and asked to touch San, but he wasn’t good with touch either. He flinches… so Wooyoung distracted the kid after they pull San’s tail. Innocent curiosity… kids don’t understand what no means when they are so young.
After that day he locked himself in his room.
He hates the outside world. Filled with cruel people and reminders of his past.
It's a miracle he trusts me as much as he does. I once wanted to take him to a restaurant… but the door had a bell chime. It made him freeze until I commanded him and we went home.
He will wait for a command and it's necessary to snap him out of it.
Kun wanted him to continue therapy but he’s still not used to it. Shortly maybe? Whether that's in a year or two or maybe never.
Despite how damaged he is, he’s truly an amazing person. He’s sensitive and caring… he’s beautiful.
He cares so much about me, about Wooyoung, even the newest addition of Yeosang.
He always makes sure I'm not overworking with my book when I lose track of the hours. Whilst he makes sure to reassure Wooyoung with praises and sweet nothings everyday. Even Yeosang, he helps him with his traumas… assures him that he has them and that he isn't alone.
Sannie, my first hybrid and I'd do everything to have him in my life – to be in his heart all over again.
“May this be the first life of many I live with you, you’re my reason to continue living”
Tumblr media
Wooyoung… a sweet hyperactive fox.
He could go on for hours and hours doing any activity as long as he was having fun or with any three of us who joined him.
He isn’t good at leaving the apartment either.
As much as he denies it he's still scared of me abandoning him one day. So when he does go out with me he's always glued to my side. Holding my hand or simply looping our arms.
He also feels the need to “make himself useful” since his previous owners had him do chores and cook for them since they were expecting a baby and were busy.
His stress also gets him which is obvious because of how clingy he becomes and even picks at his own fur. His mind was constantly working and overthinking and I had to get used to praising him and reassuring him how much I loved him.
It wasn’t hard but it hurt to know he needed constant reassurance to understand he’s loved by not only me but also to make sure he isn't a burden to San or Yeosang.
He has a very bad mental health… one which will make him experience very long or even very short depressive episodes.
In those days I spend most of my time in his room trying to offer him comfort. Sometimes we stay in silence or we’ll talk about nothing important for hours until we sleep in each other's arms.
I owed Wooyoung a lot… he was there for me when I was in school and when my parents weren’t necessarily present in my life. He was there… he was always there and it's the least I could do for him.
I’d be by his side for as long as he wants me.
“I’ve loved you like it was love at first sight! My dream became a reality and I'm not ready to ever wake up”
Tumblr media
Yeosang… my protective doberman.
I always found it interesting how my friends thought that San was the most protective and even though he is, San was a sweetheart. While Yeosang was intimidating. He hates the socialite life… in return doesn’t trust my friends. He also hates leaving the apartment, claiming it's his safe haven and always with his silly little nickname… angel.
Claiming that's what I was… someone who saved him from his life in hell. Brought him back up, made him smile, and forgave him for his sins. He hates being reminded of his past… it's known that I had him and people will sometimes send me emails and texts to ask him for photoshoots.
He, however, wanted to live a life of peace away from the media and the sins that others committed.
He hates the attention, the photos, the videos, the whispers, and the gossip when he does come out with me. He’s a dog hybrid… he has good sight, good hearing… and good smell. He could tell when they gossiped about his prostitution background and even said horrid things. Not like he’d ever tell me what they said since… he didn’t want to make me sad or angry. He endured a lot… but he didn’t have to do it alone anymore. She was gone… and she’s never had a chance to get close to him again.
If he saw me as his guardian angel, I’d act like it. I’d protect him with my life.
“Why would I ever leave when I’m in paradise? Out there is hell, in here I have an angel looking over me”

Chapter 4 of No Fun in Fungus! The next chapter will be last!
@daboyau
@theawesomeninja-xd
@nights-flying-fox
@phoebepheebsphibs
Donnie can’t help but feel angry at this point.
At who, he isn’t entirely certain.
Himself? The mushrooms?
There’s just anger.
Weight is suddenly in his hand.
It’s his tech bō.
He slams it into the side of the fake Leo’s head as hard as he can.
The hallucination’s head and neck cracks sideways audibly.
It’s gaze moves back to Donnie.
“You hate me this much? Why? What….did I ever do to you? Why do you want me to be gone from your life so badly?”
Donnie’s hands steady as he hits again.
“Shut up! I don’t care if some dumb dumb mushrooms keep saying my brothers think I hate them!”
Another whack.
“They know I love them! I know I love them! Just because I made mistakes and can’t express my feelings like other people doesn’t make me a monster!”
An even harder hit.
“I would build, destroy, do anything for them! You can’t take that away from me!”
The bō suddenly gets grabbed as the image turns into Shredder.
“You think you can do anything? A pathetic little mistake, a blight on my bloodline talking so boldly. You believe you can hide your weaknesses with machinery, you forget how easily I destroyed it! How easily I can destroy you!”
Donnie is well aware what happened to his tech on multiple occasions.
Because of his failures, two people he cared a lot about were gone within the same day.
However, it was that same tech he created that gave them time to escape.
It was his invention that helped bring Leo back from somewhere that seemed impossible.
Maybe nothing he made was perfect or would always been 100% successful.
He’d make them over and over again to help his family.
Reminding himself of them also brings back the memory of Raph.
There’s a chance that the other component he had been missing was besides knowing this wasn’t real.
Raph didn’t only allow them to calm him down, he also chose to face his fear completely while thinking it was real.
He ha/ to do the same to have a chance of making sure everyone else was okay.
Donnie let’s go of the stuck tech bō and lunges at Shredder, hoping that the hallucination would just vanish.
It still surprises him that it works.
What surprises him even more is when he realizes that he’s actually going towards Raph and Leo.
The three all let out yelps as they crash into each other.
“Okay, ow.” Donnie complains, draped over Raph’s chest and part of Leo.
“That’s my line.” Leo grumbles, but not making any attempt to move.
Raph grabs and pulls the both of them into a tight hug.
“Raph’s never been so happy to get crashed into. You okay? Leo and I saw some….intense stuff.”
“Luckily I am the pinnacle of mysterious bad boy personas, I have my emotions completely under control.” Donnie says despite clinging to them just as much.
Raph can’t help but smile a little more at his reaction, despite the situation they’re in.
It’s nice to know he’s still considered a safe space after everything that’s happened.
“Don’t worry, Raph’s got ya.”
“….Thank you. There is something I want to say-“
“Hold on! I need to give you this before I forget.” Leo holds up the inhaler.
“You….still have that thing? You know I can just make one with ninpo now.”
“Maybe, but if you’re stressed and can’t breathe how are you going to focus enough to make one?…..Are you crying?”
Donnie hides his face in Leo’s shoulder.
“No. The spore cloud made my eyes burn.”
Leo pats his head.
“Sure it did.”
“I’d give you yours, but they’re in my battle shells.”
“They’re? As in more than one?”
“Obviously I have to have one in each or else it nullifies the purpose of it being handy in an emergency.”
Leo sniffles.
“The dust got in my eyes too.”
Tears fall onto them from above, making the two look up.
“There’s nothing in my eyes, I just love you guys so much.” Raph admits.
“We love you too, big guy. Let’s go get Mikey so he doesn’t get mad we’re group hugging without him.” Leo pats Raph’s face.
Raph nods.
“Let’s go make sure he’s okay.”
He lets go of Donnie and Leo before they all stand up.
Leo wobbles slightly.
Donnie nonchalantly leans closer to him, offering his shoulder.
Leo silently accepts the invitation to help him stay upright.
The three of them make their way further in.
When the spores made everything hard to see, Mikey scrambled to grab onto anyone he could.
When he felt nothing, it scared him pretty badly.
There wasn’t much to go on to find out which way they went so he went a random direction and just called out for all of them.
He felt so relieved when he heard all their voices together after some time of walking.
“Hey! You guys! I’m here! Is everyone okay?”
The relief vanishes very quickly as Mikey realizes the voices were angry ones, his brothers were arguing.
“You’re just selfish, Leo! Even after almost getting us all killed you still can’t stop and think for even a second about how we might feel!” Donnie shouts.
“Since when do you care about how people feel!? You keep building robots just so someone will want to hang out with you! I bet S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. died just so he wouldn’t have to be around you anymore!”
Mikey gasps loudly.
That was an incredibly low blow considering S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. was like their nephew and, by extension, Donnie’s son.
“Leo! How could you say that?”
Donnie slaps Leo across the face, hard enough that Mikey could tell it stung.
Leo recovers from the slap and tackles Donnie, rolling around in a fight with him on the floor.
“What are you doing!? Raph! Help me stop them!” Mikey pleads, looking up at him.
Raph crosses his arms and has a look that makes Mikey freeze.
This was completely different from how he looks when he’s disappointed.
Raph always has that shine in his eyes even at the worst moments. While the saying is that people keep their hearts on their sleeves, Raph keeps it in his eyes.
That was missing at the moment.
“How many times am I going to have to keep cleaning up everyone’s messes? All I ever do is take care of you three and you’ve never appreciated it. Especially not you.”
“O-Of course I appreciate it! I appreciate you! I love you and Leo and Donnie and dad-“
“No, you don’t. Maybe you love Leo and dad and Donnie, but not me. I worked so hard to keep you safe and for what!? All it did was push you away from me! I’m the bad guy because I didn’t let you do dumb and dangerous things! You never care how hard it is for me to have to be responsible! I have fun too! I’m not just a buzzkill like you guys keep saying!”
Mikey feels tears pricking at his eyes at the tone and volume that Raph has been using.
None of his lectures ever sound like this.
“I-I’m….I’m sorry….”
“You know what? I should be glad you don’t want to hang out with me anymore. You’re annoying.”
Mikey’s heart break into little pieces.
Leo and Donnie stand up.
“Finally, something we can agree on. I’m sick and tired of you coming into my lab! I hate having to pretend like your dumb ideas matter.” Donnie crosses his arms.
“N-No….D-Donnie….h-he likes my ideas! Th-This isn’t him….it can’t be….” Mikey whimpers.
“You guys are being too hard on him.” Leo interjects.
Mikey looks up at him hopefully.
“Why even bother saying what’s wrong with him? He can’t change, he won’t change. Dr. Toxic Positivity only cares if someone’s upset so he can make them feel bad about it.”
“T-Toxic….? No! Please! I just want to help! I can do better! I-I can make this better!”
“You can’t cook breakfast, you can’t draw, you can’t skateboard, you can’t do anything that would make you useful enough for us to put up with you.”
“My arms will heal! They’ll-!” Mikey looks down in horror as he sees the golden cracks on his arms.
“No no no! This isn’t happening!”
The other three turn their backs to him.
“This family is a joke. Good luck surviving without me around.” Raph starts walking off.
“No! Wait! Don’t go!”
“Try not to fall into a sewer hole chasing after a pigeon with pizza.” Donnie hisses, going another direction.
“Please! Stay!”
“You can’t keep yourself together, let alone the family. Being in the prison dimension is better than being here.” Leo comments, walking away from the rest as well.
Tears stream down Mikey’s face as he feels something else welling up.
No.
He was not just going to let them go.
If his arms have to suffer again, so be it.
The feeling flows through him, through his arms and throughout the rest of his body.
There’s a weightlessness that comes to him he isn’t fully aware of.
He’s floating.
Ninpo chains appear around him before shooting out in the directions his brothers went.
When he feels one chain gain purchase on something, he pulls it back.
There’s the sound of quite yelling that gets louder as the chain goes back to him.
It becomes loudest when Leo comes into his vision.
“Wha-, Mikey!? You can fly!?”
“Where are they?”
“You mean Raph and Donnie? They’re fine, they were right next to me, but what’s happening with you!?”
Mikey just sends out more chains.
The yelling starts up again and only ends when Raph and Donnie are brought over as well.
“Mikey!?” They question at the same time.
“How are you doing this!?” Raph pulls at the chain around him.
Mikey wraps more chains around his arms, glowing yellow pooling in his eyes and down his face in tears.
“Stop it! You’re not leaving! I don’t care if you want out of this family! W-We’re going to work out our problems and nobody is going anywhere!”
“Mikey, none of us want to leave the family! It’s the hallucinations!” Donnie insists.
“H-How do I know that!? Leo and Raph fought so much just because they couldn’t understand each other! L-Leo was just going to let himself die! None of you can promise me that you won’t leave!”
“Mikey-“
“No! W-We’re all going to apologize! I-I’m sorry for being so annoying…..I-I’m sorry I can’t use my arms a lot yet. I’m sorry you think I hate you Raphie!” He shuts his eyes, making more tears spill out.
Raph’s jaw drops.
Mikey only calls him Raphie nowadays when he wants something especially badly and his puppy dog eyes weren’t working.
When they were younger, that’s all he called him.
“No! You don’t need to apologize, Mikey! I know you don’t hate me, you don’t even hate Draxum!”
Mikey opens his eyes again, sniffling as they stop glowing.
“I was so scared when you put Leo in your escape pod. W-We had no idea what they were doing with you, i-if you’d come back. I never worried about us not surviving before Shredder! Then the Krang happened and…..I realized more we could all just die! E-Especially you.”
“What….what do you mean….?”
“Leo put himself in the prison dimension, but you made him leave you behind in your escape pod! When Shredder attacked Donnie, you put yourself between them and he was stepping on you! H-How many times are we going to have to see you like that!? It hurts! It’s scary!”
Raph desperately struggles against the chains, he wants to hug his poor baby brother so badly.
“I’m sorry! I….I always thought you guys being scared was better than you being hurt or worse. You’re not a burden or a responsibility, you’re my family. I always want to protect you, and….I can’t do that if I’m gone. I get it. I promise I do.”
Mikey hiccups and removes some chains from him, pulling him closer to hug him tightly.
Raph hugs him back just as tight, maybe even tighter.
Leo and Donnie sigh in relief slightly at Mikey calming down.
“If you’re feeling better, you can set us down now Miguel.” Leo smiles.
Mikey stares hard at him and Donnie from behind Raph’s shoulder.
“We’re not done.”

Are you serious! - Y.Jeongin
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Genre: Fluff, semi sick fic. Like I mentioned, he is sick but don't go into detail
Pairing: Yang Jeongin x gn!reader
Warning: mentions of food
a/n: I missed his bday live :( Any who happy birthday to Man bread. He hasn't been a baby for quite some time, lol. Just a cute little thing. Not proofread.
You sighed as you hung up the phone. Of course, this would happen because when have you ever planned something and it didn't end up in flames? All you wanted was to throw a nice little party for Jeongin, but the universe took that personally. You had just gotten off the phone with the bakery. Apparently, their entire batch of frosting was made wrong, so they would have to make a whole new batch. This would mean that you had to push back the dinner you planned so you could have the cake on time.
Then, when you had picked up the balloons earlier, they all had been the wrong ones. Instead of the cute fox themed balloons you wanted, they had made you cat themed ones instead. It wasn't that big of a deal (it was), so you didn't make a huge fuss, but still.
Now you couldn't find his present either. It was a custom-made bracelet with both Jeongin and your birthday plus your anniversary date. A little cringe, but he loved wearing bracelets, and you wanted to give him a special one. You knew you had put the box in your closet. Made sure that it was there all the time. But now, nothing. It was as if it had vanished into thin air.
So here you stood at the jewelers, looking for a sufficient stand-in. Assessing your options and making sure it was perfect. Once you were done looking, you paid and made your way to your car. All that was left was to pick up the cake and meet Jeongin at your place for a nice quiet dinner. No more fuss, no more running around.
“Hey Angel. I think I caught a stomach bug. Can we reschedule that dinner you had planned?” Jeongin’s hoarse voice never sounded more upsetting than it did right now. Of course, you weren't upset with him. You could never be upset with him.
It was just the circumstances you found yourself in. Every single thing you planned today just ended up being a nuisance.
“But, I. Today is the worst!” You exclaimed angrily at the sky. You huffed as you opened your car door and climbed inside.
“Oh? What happened today?” Jeongin asked, curious as to what made you so upset.
“Where do I even start? I had this cute dinner planned for us tonight. I had balloons and a cake planned, but the balloons ended up being the wrong ones. Then the bakery called and said that they had to push my pick up back cause their frosting was botched.” Once you started, you couldn't stop.
“When I went to look for your present, I couldn't find it, which really sucks cause I thought it was so cute and now I can't give it to you. So I went looking for another present. Like, I know you don't care about materialistic stuff like that, but I do. And now, you're sick.” You took a breather.
“I'm not upset at you cause that's something you can't help. But I just wanted to have a nice surprise for dinner tonight.”
Jeongin was silent on his end for a moment. He thought it was cute. Your plans for tonight sounded so sweet, but you went through so much trouble.
“Why don't you come over still. You can bring some balloons and my cake, give me my present and we can watch a movie. Just because I'm sick doesn't mean I can't see you. I need my daily dose of (name).” You could practically hear the smile in Jeongin's voice.
“I was already planning on coming over regardless. I need to baby you when you're sick. It's the only time you let me dote on you.” Your tone was a mix between teasing and pouty. Still a little spur about all the misfortune you had gone through. “Let me go and pick up your cake, grab like 2 or 3 balloons, and I'll be over there, ok?”
When the door opened, you were met with Jeongin's bright smile. He was wrapped head to toe with his biggest blanket. You could still see the hoodie he was wearing poking out, his feet covered by the fluffier socks he could find. His nose and cheeks were pink, and he was sniffling here and there. His hair was all over the place. Despite his suffering, he was just so cute.
“Do I get to peek at the cake now, or do I have to wait?” He laughed as he took the box from you. He placed it on the kitchen counter as you found some bowls for the soup you brought. You ended up tying the balloons down in the living room.
“No. You have to wait.” You shuffled around him, shooing him out of the kitchen. “But you can open your present.”
You handed Jeongin the small bag. Watching carefully as he opened the jewelry box inside. The bracelet wasn't too grand, just a simple little thing with a small charm; your initial.
“It's nothing too special, and I still plan on giving you your other present. I'm going to tear apart my room if I have to.”
“No. I think this is perfect.” Jeongin’s smile was blinding. He wasn't going to deny your other gift, but he wanted you to know that he still loved this one. You walked over to him, bowls of soup in hand. Jeongin placed a sweet kiss to your cheek, taking a bowl from you and following behind.
“The only present I care about is seeing your face at the end of the day.” Jeongin watched in delight as your cheeks flushed. You were so easy to fluster, and he found great joy in showering you in compliments.
“Gross.” You fein disgust as you wipe your cheek. “I don't ever want to hear you being so sappy again.”
“But you love it!”
“Shut up and eat your soup.”

Hello friends! I saw this gif and immediately my brain began working up scenarios so I’m going to try something new. Just some fun short fics that come to mind when I see an image. If it goes well I might keep it up! I also think I’m going to stick with the Mandalorian theme but use Y/N. Oh one more thing…we are assuming all the boys lived because I love the whole 501st…Happy reading!
One shot - Captain Rex
Tumblr media
First Date
Warnings: None just some fluff because I need it, Oh I will be using Mando’a but I will provide a translation.
Summary:
As a Mandalorian on Coruscant things have been interesting to say the least…You were recruited to help train the Clone Battalions on some alternative fighting methods. The Good Captain Rex has become one of your personal favorites and was always very professional with you but secretly harbored feelings for you. He was drawn in by how you treated each of his men as though they were your own vode (brothers). Which brings us here…Fives has noticed you stealing glances at the Captain, flushing whenever he is mentions, are giddy when he’s in the room, and has been trying to convince you to talk to him about it but you won’t budge. Fives has no problem taking matters into his own hands with the help of a few friends….
I know that scene was during the Umbara arc but we need some positivity in that department…
“Fives you are my best friend but for the love of Maker leave it alone…” He has that signature Osik (shit) eating grin on his face. “Aw come on y/n, it would do you both some good trust me!” I glare at him “Copaani mirshmure’cye, vod? (Are you looking for a smack in the face mate?)” He puts his hands up in defense “Hey I was just trying be a good friend.” Just then Jesse and Tup come over. “What’re ya talking ‘bout?” Jesse teases. I glare at him and Tup smiles “You’re being ridiculous y/n…I thought Mandalorians were supposed to be brave.” “Alright look here you mir’sheb (smart asses), I can make sure your next lesson with me is miserable” I wag my finger at the trio. Fives stands up and nods to the other two “Alright, we better let her eat her lunch in peace.” I get suspicious - he never gives up that easy… - “Pare (Wait one), Fives what are you up to?” He turns around “Nothing, like you said…you can make our next lesson miserable. I know you keep your word.” I give the group a suspicious look and watch as they walk away. Just then Rex enters the room and I pretend not to notice. Fives looks back at me and smirks, I can feel the heat creeping up my face. He, Tup, and Jesse take the opportunity to head over and chat with Rex - Maker I want to know what he’s saying…or do I?
A sudden presence at the table surprises me. “Udesii! (Take it easy!), bad time?” Cody asks giving me a strange look. “Nope, I’m fine. What can I do for you?” He takes a seat across from me and eyes me. I look past him at the conversation being had on the other side of the room and just then Rex glances over his shoulder my direction. Cody turns around to look and in that moment, the brave Mandalorian wants more than anything to become part of the durasteel wall. Cody turns back around, facing me with a grin “Oh…I see, Rex got you all worked up again?” My eyes grow wide “Again?” He lets out a deep laugh “I swear to Maker you two are the only ones who don’t notice…Fox, Bly, Bacara, Neyo, and even sometimes Wolffe and myself take guesses at how many times a day you steal glances.” As if on que Fox joins the table. “Just in time for the show” Cody tells him while teasing me. “Ha Ha, you’re hilarious….” I roll my eyes. “Y/n, you still haven’t talked to him?” Fox asks pretending to be shocked. A string of curses in Mando’a leave my mouth. “You guys are as bad as Fives….and that’s saying something.” They both just laugh at my expense. “You two di’kutla (fools) are lucky I don’t have your groups today for training…” and with that I get up and take care of my tray, having had enough of the shenanigans.
————
Later that evening I was in my office - the GAR was oh so kind enough to give me - and theres a knock at my door. With out looking up from my datapad I holler “Come in!” The door slides open and a rather sheepish Rex enters - he’s typically quite a confident, without being arrogant, man… - I stand “What can I do for you Captain?” “Please just call me Rex.” “I thought it was Captain or Sir?” I tease becoming rather nervous. He rubs the back of his neck and laughs nervously “I- uh- I came to see if you would be interested in going with us—with me to 79’s sometime.” - is this really happening? Fives you mesh’la di’kut (beautiful idiot) - “Yeah Rex, I’d love that” I can feel my face flush. He straightens, standing tall and confident “Really? How about tomorrow night?” A smile dances across my face “That sounds great, I’ll see you then”. He nods and excuses himself closing the door behind him.
I spin around smiling like di'kut (idiot), clutching my datapad to my chest - maybe Fives was right? Oh Maker don't ever let him know that...the last thing he needs is a more inflated ego.... I head back to my desk and finish up my report for the day before heading to my apartment for the night.
————
Thankfully I only had one training session the next morning which went without a hitch and I actually had time to catch up on my reports. The day over all went by rather quickly and I headed to my apartment to put on something other than my typical attire - as much I love my beskar and everything it stands for but unfortunately it's not gunna work. I open my closet and stand there for a moment before pulling out a pair of black jeans, combat boots, my bantha leather jacket, and nicer fitted tank top. Quickly I shower, put on light makeup, and quickly curl my hair a little before heading out to the street and hailing a cab. "79's please." "You got it." I look out the window as the driver lifts us into the lanes of traffic.
It only takes a matter of minutes to get to 79's and I find myself standing outside nervous - what if he decides he doesn't like me? An arm around my shoulder pulls my from my thoughts "Jeez y/n, If I knew you'd get cleaned up that nice I would’ve just asked you out myself." I throw at elbow at Fives an hit him square in the stomach. He doubles over and I hear a roar of laugher behind me. Spinning around I see the rest of the 501st Torrent squad - minus Rex. "I should’ve known you all would show up..." Jesse comes over and leans an elbow on Fives - whose still doubled over - "Oh come on we wouldn't miss this for the world! Besides we've got tomorrow off!" Hardcase whoops and hollers. Echo comes over and speaks so only I can hear "you'll be fine...Rex'll love getting to know you. Trust me." He winks and gestures for the group to follow him inside leaving me standing here alone. I suck in a deep breath and head inside. It's not my first time at 79's but its my first time with the intent to be with Rex and only Rex.
When I enter, the music is loud and there's a sea of people as usual. Making my way over to the bar I order a drink. Once the bar tender hands it to me I glance around looking for Rex. In the corner - where they always are - the rest of Torrent squad is looking at me and Fives points over towards the other side where Rex is chatting with the other Commanders. Finding my confidence I head over to say hello. "Su cuy'gar (Hello)" I smile and wave at the group. Rex's eyes wander over my form and Cody is the first to speak up "Who knew you wore anything other than armor" everyone but Rex and Wolffe laugh. "Very funny.” Rex gets up and says his goodbyes to the group "Should we grab a table?" I nod and he offers me his elbow. "Such a gentlemen" A smile tugs at the corner of his lips.
We sit down at a table and chat over some appetizers and drinks. I tell him a little about myself like my childhood on Mandalore, etc…etc…He tells some stories about the things that they accomplish during the war and even some typical shenanigans they’ve pulled while deployed. “Maker they sound like they are just as entertaining out in the field as they are in training!” “You have no idea…but they’re good soldiers…some of the best” I can hear the pride in his voice which brings a smile to my face. Leaning over the table I whisper “Don’t tell the other Commanders but the 501st has always been my favorite.” He quirks a brow “Oh really? Why’s that?” “Let’s just say I have a soft spot for the boys in blue” I say coyly before taking a sip of my drink without breaking eye contact. Rex smirks with his one eye brow still raised. “Careful Captain, you raise that eye brow any higher it might disappear.” He chuckles and shakes his head, “you know, other than the Jedi and a select few people…you’re one of the only ones who treats all of us clones like we matter.” I know this was supposed to be a compliment but I can’t help but feel sad, I sigh “Ni ceta Rex (I’m sorry Rex). It’s not fair…none of you chose the life given to you and yet you all do it with no complaints…I wish more saw you the way I do.” I start picking at my fingernails but a hand comes across the table, covering mine, stopping me. Looking up I met his gaze, those beautiful honey brown eyes have such a warmth to them - He’s never looked at me or anyone that I’ve seen this way before. “I’m just glad we have someone like you looking out for us all” he pauses for a second before continuing “The way you treat my vode (brothers)…my men…it means more to me than you’ll ever know.” The way he says my name and everything that follows does something to me I can’t even fully put into words however, I can feel the heat rising in my face and in my core. “Vor entye (thank you) Rex” I can’t help the smile that plasters my face. “ Ba’gedet’ye (you’re welcome) y/n.”
Glancing around I notice there are quite a few people dancing, even Fives who gives me a wink. I can’t help but shake my head and roll my eyes at him which catches Rex’s attention, he chuckles. Springing up from the table I grab Rex’s hand and drag him out onto the dance floor. The initial shock plastered on his face, “I-uh-I’m not much of a dancer.” I laugh and shrug, recalling a few nights when even Cody would dance…after a few drinks, “I know, just follow my lead.” He nods and at first watches me dance around him for a moment and the joins in. Before I know it his hands are on my hips as we grind our way through Maker knows how many songs.
When the night is about over Rex offers to walk me home. The entire way we laugh and talk about anything and everything - I feel so comfortable around him…it feels like we’ve known each other forever. I stop in front of my apartment building “this is me.” He looks up at the large building “It’s not quite like the GAR barracks.” “No it certainly isn’t. Did you want to come in? If I’m over stepping I completely understand…” I quickly explain. He looks over at me with a smile on his face “only if you want me to.” I nod and he follows me up to my apartment.
The door slides open and I enter, taking off my coat to hang it. Rex enters behind me. “Make yourself at home. Can I get you anything?” I offer. “I’m alright, thank you.” He doesn’t move from where he standing and I honestly find it adorable. “I had fun tonight” I break the silence after a few moments. He rubs the back of his neck like he’s nervous. “Everything okay Captain?” He’s quick to respond “Yeah no everything’s great I had fun tonight too.” I make my way back over to him “but?” I ask feeling uneasy. “Honestly, I’ve felt this way before” After all the war and training he’s even through as a man, in this moment he looks like a boy with his first crush. I put both hands on his plastoid covered chest and look into his beautiful golden brown eyes “I haven’t either but I’m willing to give it a shot if you are?” His hands find their way to my face gently cupping my cheeks. Leaning in he places the softest and most gentle kiss on my lips. When we break he rests his forehead against mine “How’s that for an answer?”

uHHHH if ur still doing requests about tails teaching knuckles how to play a video game
(ps -love ur writing, keep it up)
sonic makes a cameo btw, hope you don't mind
word count-1081
-------------------
“I don’t understand the point of this, Tails.” Knuckles mumbled, watching as the fox powered on the tablet he was holding. He doesn’t think it’s the younger’s main tablet, as this one is red and a lot bigger.
“It’s fun!” Tails smiled as he swiped through the gallery of games downloaded, “We just gotta find something you’d like,” He hummed as continued looking.
The echidna sighed and placed a hand on the kit’s shoulder, guiding him to sit on the top stair of the shrine.
“Here,” The kid smiled, handing the tablet over to the older once he sat down, “let’s try this one out!”
Knowing he couldn’t say no to the fox, Knuckles took the tablet carefully and squinted at the screen. It had gone from the bright white to more colorful scenery, showcasing an island, “Animal Crossing?”
“It’s a more relaxed game,” Tails explained as he crossed his legs underneath one another, “I think it’s a good one to try out first.”
“If you say so,” The teen shrugged, tapping the button that read ‘new game’, raising a brow when it did nothing.
He heard the fox giggling beside him, “You have to use the buttons on the controller.” He said before reaching over and pressing the ‘A’ button.
“That seems pointless.” Knuckles grumbled, eyes staying focused on the screen.
“You have to use the buttons for everything in this game,” Tails said with a shrug, “thinking about it, it wouldn’t work all too well if you just tapped the screen for everything.”
Choosing to ignore what the fox had said, the teen squinted at the screen when he saw a character come up and start talking to him.
“Tom Nook?” He questioned, shaking his head, “an odd name.”
“The names aren’t all that important.” Tails said, leaning against the older.
“What is the objective of this, Tails?” Knuckles asked, looking at his brother.
“Your goal is to build up your island,” The kit explained, “y’know, making it livable for the villagers.”
“The island is inhabited?” The echidna asked as he continuously pressed the ‘A’ button, not caring to read any of the dialog.
“Well, it is now.” Tails shrugged, pointing at the avatars on screen, “by you, Tom, Timmy, Tommy, and two other randomized villagers.”
“Why?” Knuckles turned to look at the younger, “There are plenty of other places they could’ve lived, why take over an island?”
“Uhh,” Tails probably should’ve thought this through a bit more, “well, the island needs someone to take care of it, right? Make sure it isn’t overgrown, trees are able to grow healthily, etc.”
Knuckles hummed, looking back at the screen, “I suppose you’re right.”
The kit just smiled up at him, wrapping his tails around the two of them. He turned back to the screen, reading as much of the next he could before the teen skipped past.
When they were through all of the text, Knuckles turned to the younger to ask what the next step was, but the fox was already speaking.
“Now you get to see which villagers you’re starting with,” Tails said, pointing to the left joystick, “use that to go up to them, then press A to talk to ‘em.”
With a sigh, the echidna did as he was told and ran up to the lion wearing a bright green shirt.
“Oh, that’s Bud!” Tails said with a smile before adding, “I think you’ll like him.”
“Hmm.. I trust your judgment.” Knuckles mumbled before pressing ‘A’ to talk to Bud.
Noticing the older was taking the time to read the dialog because of him, the fox gave a smile as he leaned against the other. He stayed quiet, unless Knuckles specifically asked for his help with something.
——
“I still can’t believe you actually taught Knux how to play a video game.” Sonic said, shaking his head. He and Tails were at Angel Island for a visit, which the oldest had paused for a minute so he could check on his virtual island.
It had been a few weeks since Tails showed the echidna how to play Animal Crossing and, from what he could tell, Knuckles really enjoyed it!
“Anyone can learn how to play a game,” Tails shrugged his shoulders, glancing over at the echidna, “you just gotta find the right game for them.”
“And you figured a calm game was the right one?” The hedgehog raised his brow at his brother, “Do we know the same Knuckles?”
The kit rolled his eyes, using his elbow to nudge the older, “Knuckles is calm! You just always push his patience!”
“Whatever you say, l’il bro.” Sonic laughed when he received a punch in his arm in place over the gentle nudge, looking over at Knuckles as he rejoined the group.
“Hey!” Tails greeted, a bright, innocent smile on his face as if he didn’t just punch the hedgehog, “Everyone alright?”
Knuckles gave a curt nod, “They are good. They seem happy with the decorations I’ve added.”
“You’ll have to show me all your new stuff soon!” The kit said as they sat down on the ground, getting ready for lunch, “That includes your new villagers.”
Sonic snorted from his spot to the right of the fox, “You’re telling me he let’s people stay on the island?”
The echidna rolled his eyes, “I’m fine with people being on my island, hedgehog. Just not you.”
“What?” The teen reeled back, an exaggerated gasp leaving his mouth, “I’ve saved this island so many times, dude!”
“You would ruin the grass with all of your running.” The older pointed out, a small smirk on face proving he didn’t really mean what he was saying. Not entirely, at least.
“You’d just do some ancient echidna spell to fix ‘em.” Sonic joked, shooting a wink at the youngest.
“You know that’s not possible.” The smirk fell from Knuckles’ face. He was starting to get annoyed.
Tails sighed, bringing his knees up to his chest as he continued to watch his hero annoy their older brother until his temper snapped. It didn’t take long for Knuckles to take a swing at Sonic, since he knew all the perfect ways to push the echidna over the edge.
Figuring they’d be at it for a while, the kit got up from his spot and flew to the top of the Master Emerald’s shrine, picking up the red tablet and plopping himself on the top step.
He’ll just have to give himself a tour of Knuckles’ island.

Calamity@Lady Ombre: The florges approached the trio as she looked voer the small giratina "Greetings all mighty," she greeted her politley "I havent seen any gods or goddesses from my universe so im not sure how its suppose to be..." she thought out slightly before looking towards Silas "This prison...." she said lightly in thought patting her chin with hand "Why was he imprisoned? It has something to do with the young zorua...?" her gaze wondered to the collapsed zorua who still haven't moved "Right...?"
Tumblr media
Silas's shouting had quickly melted into silence, I suppose this was a job for Calamity then! She happily approached Lady, ready to answer her question.
Tumblr media
Her reply was interrupted as Calamity seemed to zone off in confusion, that couldn't be right. She didn't say he could use that. There were no spirits of Giratina around beside her. A look of horror began to bleed into her expression. There was only one person who could do that. Someone much more important than a lowly spirit, someone divine.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reality quickly hit the spirit as she began to squirm in a panic, everything was going wrong and so quickly. "W-wait!! No! I-"
Tumblr media
The fox raised his arm, bringing the spirit much higher. Though his face was covered it was clear he was upset, the tone of his voice was harsh and unforgiving. "I am not your Nym." "I gave you no permission to address me as such." He growled, "Call me that again, Next time I'm going to do more than just kill you. I don't want your stupid nicknames. We are not friends and we will never be friends. I don't want to be anyone's stupid fuckin' friend, Okay? So just, fuck off. Alright!" Instead of fighting Silas, Calamity quickly began to accept her fate, she was going to die and there was nothing she could do about it. As much as she wanted to live she didn't have the heart to fight back. Tears quickly began to fill her eyes and as she shook in terror.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The impact was rough, dust-filled but the results were clear. Silas gave a huff, he felt nothing towards that thing's death. No sadness, no guilt, he had no connection with it. Why would he care about the death of a thing that couldn't even feel true emotions or pain? Everything she did was just an act to earn trust, a facade to seem like she was real. Something to make him care about her. He wasn't going to fall for it.
Tumblr media
The silence was eerie, all that could be heard was the occasional small sniffle from Silas as he stared off. It seemed the fox's thoughts were wandering again.
Tumblr media
"I hope you didn't want to talk to that thing, I think you should have asked a little quicker. It's much too late now." His tone was mocking, and demeaning as he leaned towards the Florges.
Tumblr media
"I've taken down much worse than a poor little lost ghost. Just ask anyone~ I'm sure they'll tell you how much I love killing small, little helpless ghosts like you. They always like to squirm and scream." "So, This is what's going to happen. You're going to turn around, you're going to walk away and then you're going to leave this place, alright? How does that sound, hm?" Though he phrased it as a question, it's clear it wasn't. This was a threat, but something in his tone wasn't quite right. Something was off… there was almost a slight tremble to his voice? It was quickly covered as the fox gave a soft hum, "Well, Unless you want to find out why I was stuck in that stupid little prison, and I both think we know you don't." "If not, I'm sure we can arrange otherwise." He grinned, even with his face covered it echoed in his voice. "We can see how quickly you can die if you'd like~" "Maybe you can beat the bug's record? But, I doubt that, you seem like a stubborn one having stuck around this long."

Act 1 Chapter 2 Part 2.1
Tumblr media
Magnolia Promenade – Sunday, January 7th, 2024
Miles away, the Satos also enjoyed their first family dinner. Of course, Mr. Sato was nowhere to be seen, a common occurrence in this family. Instead, two other people joined their meal.
Tumblr media
After a troubling conversation with her husband, Ken, Marlene looked forward to spending this night with her family. She wasn’t ready to start this ‘intensive investigation’ into her family’s past but she understood it was necessary step to uncover who was stalking them. But before that fiasco, Marlene forged a smile and raised her glass.
“Tonight let’s celebrate my handsome nephew, Kion, and his return to Willow Creek. I understand that a redirection in life may be unsettling but Kion returns a new man with a new girlfriend and child. I think the growth of his family and subsequently, the growth of our own, is quite beautiful! Welcome home!” Marlene toasted.
“I can drink to that!” Kion said with glee while the family took a polite sip of the aged red wine.
“Where is that girlfriend of yours?” Ken Jr asked. Out of everyone here, KJ was the most excited to have his favorite (and only) cousin back.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“She’ll be here any moment. She got caught up at work.” Kion answered and chased his answer with another sip of wine. Marlene couldn’t help but to catch her sister’s eye. She heard a few things about the new girlfriend.
“You guys are gonna love her! Right mom?” Kion asked.
Tumblr media
“Right,” Sabrina answered and then quickly washed her lie down with another sip of wine.
Tumblr media
“I’m sure we will. Everyone was so accepting when I starting bringing Natalia around. No worries, champ.” KJ said in an attempt to comfort his cousin. Although that was true, Marlene shared a similar uneasiness about Natalia that Sabrina had for Kion’s new girlfriend.
To Marlene, Natalia was nothing special. Sure, she was cute but that was it. She wasn’t witty, charming, or intelligent. She was just …bland. Eventually, Marlene learned to accept that her son had settled for a dough faced girl who was nothing special. Just a girl.
At the far side of the table sat Evelyn Sato. She was still taking in the presence of everyone gathered together. She had spent years away from her family so the reintroduction of “family dinners” was tough. In the last few weeks of being home, Evelyn had mastered adding meaningless commentary to every conversation to mask her disinterest in whatever her family blabbed about. Weddings, grandchildren, business ideas, vacations… None of it interested her.
Tumblr media
She twirled her nearly full glass of wine. Just one glass tonight should be alright, right?
“Ev,” it was Aunt Sabrina who broke Evelyn out of her thoughts. “What’s it like working with your dad?”
Evelyn released a deep exhale which only made Sabrina laugh. Sabrina was well aware that her brother-in-law was an uptight asshole in and out of the office, but she didn’t think it would only take a few days for the daddy-daughter duo to bump heads.
“If you’re looking for work, you’re always welcome at Fox and Associates.” Sabrina offered.
Being a lawyer was Evelyn’s long lost dream. She always imagined herself in court fighting for innocent people like Aunty Brina did. It wasn’t until Evelyn got to college that she got a taste of being an actual criminal defense lawyer. She definitely couldn’t imagine herself doing this for the rest of her life. But for a couple hours a day, just to get away from her father, she would definitely reconsider.
Tumblr media
“Evelyn wouldn’t hate it that much if she actually cared.” Ken interjected.
For the next few ten minutes, the siblings argued over how boring the makeup of a computer chip actually could be.
Tumblr media
“Baby!” The voice silenced the siblings as a woman walked up to the table and kissed Kion’s cheek.
Tumblr media
“Hi everyone, I’m Cheyenne,” the woman introduced herself as she sat down at the table.
Tumblr media
The family warmly greeted her back. Well, mostly everyone.
Tumblr media
Kion introduced everyone at the table to Cheyenne. Immediately, Cheyenne took a liking to the other outsider, Natalia.
Tumblr media
“How did you two meet?” Cheyenne asked.
Tumblr media
“Oh, the typical way. Social Bunny. He ‘accidentally’ sent me a friend request and then ‘accidentally’ liked all my pictures and posts. Then he sent me a message saying he thought he knew me and we just started talking all the time. How about you guys?” KJ snickered as Natalia retold the story.
Tumblr media
“At a club.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“He saw me first”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“but I approached him first”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“we danced together”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“and the rest is history”

Ok so first of all i love reading your guys' tags always and forever, second of all @chocottang HIII CHOCOO (please do tell me if tagging annoys you!) You turned my braincell on, you asked such a simple and normal question and now you are gonna get lore'd about spring im so sorry- ok ok so answer here and then i start ranting about all the things ive done to this poor man if anyones interested:
He is not on the aro spectrum he just never really thought about romance for the LONGEST time. Rubbing my hands like an evil fly why would that be? Read to find out
Also while spring himself is not on the aroace spectrum i do present cami, owynn, bonnie and puppet to you humbly, the silliests ever
Basically, as you MAY have noticed, the guy has a lot of burn scars (shocking), that's because when he was little his house burnt down and his parents died and he got super fucked up, he's been in the foster system since he was like 10, no family wanted to take him in because his parents had him when they were super young and thus were disowned. So we start off strong with that, and it gets worse!
I wanted to make spring a little more unhinged because wowzers the sprintrap animatronic is evil, however his chill attitude captivated me, so i decided to make the unhinged him be his younger self, children are cruel adults are scary people in the foster system get treated as "a way to give people who cant have bio kids families" or "charity cases" instead of normal children with a lot of unnadressed issues who deserve a change to grow up with a semblance of normalcy. He was alone and scared and angry at life and thus tended to get into a lot of fights and to stealing stuff and such. Problem kid status + visibly scarred led him to never really finding a permanent home, not that he wanted one, because most of the adults in his life scared him and also wanted him to have a "new" life, AKA forget his parents and accept these new strangers as parents, horrible!
This little kid who is very scared and alone and wishes for nothing more than his parents calming him down again meets 2 even smaller kids and just, projects onto them. He started coping with all the stuff in his head through taking care of children and pretending it was also him who was being taken care of so softly and tenderly, the children being meg and fox. He just starts taking care of them and subconciously growing up really fast to get them the support and whatever they need and then out of literally nowhere hes 18. He's like "oh crap wth" Gets send off to the real world having BARELY graduated from highschool and with some money, he cannot bear the thought of losing any more people and just looks into becoming the other 2's legal guardian and gets them out of the system to live with him in the worlds cheapest house he could find
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So what I mean is that he hyperfocused on being a caretaker and getting money and growing up and getting ten thousand things that the thought of romance was not even anywhere near his head, having FRIENDS was nowhere near his head. He had to find a job he had to enroll the other 2 into school he had to find another job he had to make sure their house didn't fall apart by the seams. Also fun fact, the more he grew up the more he realized he is a literal carbon copy of his dad, but visibly scarred! have fun looking in the mirror buddy
In his head, he does not really see himself as a full grown adult even though hes 24, and his weird thought of "adults being scary" still persists even though he himself is one, he doesn't like talking to grown people and that isn't helped by how he spent most of his life with Fox and Meg, he is not used to talking to people his age or older and he was too busy to actually process that romance might be something he wanted when he was just drowning in ten other thousand things already. As he got older and fox and meg also got older and got partime jobs his burden was lessened a lot and he was allowed to CHILL a little
So those 2 idiots in the drawing are vincent and leti,,, they might look like ocs and at this point they kinda are but they ARE based on the bg characters of Camarero and "Novia", they both also have their own can of worms to unpack it's insane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spring met Vincent at work, new coworker new hire and then Leti just stopped by sometimes to talk to vincent and he went thought ten billion crisis because "having a crush as an adult is so embarassing i need to be paying taxes"
So TLDR he had his first crushes ever at 24 because at that age he was actually allowed to chill a little and his brain finally had the room to process that romance was in fact, real. He also had to go through the "i like men???????? Im poly??¿¿" thoughts at 24, he shoulda've been at the club/ref

I noticed your call for hc ideas, so I’ll throw one your way!
Ei x a reader who was born mortal during the Archon War, but somehow became immortal? Maybe something about the reader being there for her after Khaenri’ah?
I’m in love with this idea. I actually have a private idea of mine that is slightly related to the characters becoming immortal maybe I’ll share it at a later date!
Request are still open but the Golden Archipelago event is making me feel a bit inspired for possible Mona content!
Miko’s age is around 500 I think but I added a couple of years so she would be before khaenri’ah
Sorry this has been in my drafts for like at least a month maybe more. This is only part 1 I explain the reading at the end of the story.
Have fun reading!!!
~
You had heard about the Archons fighting
Your family was careful to pick a god named Makoto to go under for safety
You had never seen her fight or even knew what she looked liked
You lived most of your life the war but a minor thought in your head
It wasn’t till the age of 12 when you heard someone yelling at something in the trees that you even bothered to find out more of the archons…
“Miko your being a real bitch!”
You were quite taken aback by the language that was reserved for adults, this girl… She sounded like a child
A girl with purple hair and eyes was looking up at a very proud pink fox
You never saw a fox before but the expression on its face made it look like it was smirking
‘Could foxes even smirk?!’
The fox was on a branch of the tree which was barely holding her up
But the fox seemed calm as ever looking like cat who caught a mouse
“Do you need help getting your fox? I can get one of the elders from the village to help.”
The fox and the girl turned to look at you.
“That won’t be needed. Miko is just doing this to get me worked up. Giving her more attention will only encourage her.”
“You know, your not supposed to use curse words.”
“I’m older than I look.”
“I call bull.”
“Bull?”
“It means I think what your saying is fake.”
“I have no reason not to tell the truth”
“Yeah you do! You don’t want to get in trouble! But don’t worry I won’t say a word!”
The girl blinked a bit and waited for a prolonged second.
“Good.”
“So how do we get your cat down?”
“Miko isn’t a cat she’s a Kitsune.”
“Im going to call her a cat until she stops acting like a cat.”
The fox jumped down from the tree at that moment turning into a girl about 5 years old pink ears and tail she looked at you with a frown
‘Could foxes even frown?’
She walked over to the purple haired girl and grabbed her chest
“Give me the sword.”
‘THE FUCK’
Nothing happened thank the archons but you invited the two to your home for some snacks
They were hesitant but agreed after seeing you silently beg for around 10 minutes.
The fact they enjoyed spending time with you surprised them even more.
You gave them some fruit and water but you spent most of the time talking and playing with the few mortal games you had.
“Would you like to play cards?”
“Cards?”
“I know a few. But If you don’t like that I have a board game me a the kids in the village made. It’s a game where you have to collect 7 gems that are represented with chest pieces. But there are obstacles to try and stop you that you need to over come by setting up the correct strategy.”
“I’m very smart I’m sure I would win.”
“Like I would lose to a cat!”
You guys had a lot of fun playing.
You and ei teamed up to steal the orange chess piece and the turquoise chess piece.
But Miko ended stealing the purple chess piece without you noticing and ended up tricking one of you and Ei’s most helpful pawns
But it soon came to sun down and they had to go back home before the monsters came out.
“I did not expect Miko to kill the fire moth.”
“Fire moth?”
“Yeah that’s our code name for the pawn you killed.”
“The one that had fire and ice powers?”
“Yeah but her real name was Rose”
“You guys certainly had fun brainstorming you little team.”
“Yeah it was fun. But you were so cool with that manoeuvre you did to get the purple chess piece.”
“Yes stealing our pawn to use for your scheme was a good idea Miko.”
“I think we named that pawn scarlet scara for short.”
You said goodbye and asked them to visit you when they could
You watched them head back into the woods and you went to bed very happy that day
You had so much fun.
Ei visited you first.
She came in the morning waking you up basket in hand.
“Where are we going?”
“It’s not to far you’ll see soon.”
The two of you walked to a mountain. There Ei took the basket she was carrying and took out snacks.
“I thought it would only be right for me to repay you by sharing some of my snacks I have at home.”
“This is your home?”
Ei got a laugh out of that.
“This is better than home. It’s calm. Near my home there is always fighting.”
“Like parent issues?”
“No… I don’t know why but I feel inclined to tell you this. Maybe you have put something in the food.”
“Everything was picked from trees!”
“Haha!! You are different than most humans. I myself am not human though. I’m a god who is supposed to protect humans. But us Gods are fighting and there is little times of peace. Somehow I seem to forget all of when I’m with you.”
“Ei I want to know you. I want to be friends with you really badly… Meet me at my house next week and I can show you a place near the village.”
“I suppose the others will not notice if I’m not gone for too long.”
“I’ll see you next week.”
-
End of part 1
A/N: this has taken me forever and it has been hard because school just started up again for me. Also I got carried away with what was supposed to be head cannons so I’m splitting it in two. The second part will tackle more Archon war stuff but I felt like I needed to have them develop a relationship. I will try to get part 2 done in a timely manor but please be patient.
———
Part 2 is up!!! You can see it on the masterlist!

It’s me again! I loved your thoughts on Jack and Sheena! I always see so little of him and it’s always “he’s a homophobic asshole who is bad at exy and jealous of Neil for getting Kevin’s attention” but I genuinely think there’s so much more to that. I feel like he did want to be a Raven and he wants to see the mighty Kevin and Riko. Now for his personal issues with Neil I think it’s something like he hates how everyone adores Neil because he believes he’s a better player who has worked SO much harder then him. He’s memorized all the Raven exercises and pushed himself harder than anyone. He deserves to be recognized. In my personal opinion (which I can’t wait to hear your ideas on him) I believe that he hasn’t gotten away from his abusers and is still actively in a situation where he has not gotten over his problems and that’s why he’s so angry all the time. He’s an amazing player and one that stuck out to Kevin Day. He is probably so excited to meet his idols and play on a team with them. Only to be disappointed at how different it is from what he pictured. Sorry for the ramble by the way!
No need to apologize I love hearing that! It's funny to see how different people give depth to the background characters. Jack is really more of a concept for fanbase. Can't really blame people for simplifying him like this we haven't really got much to work with and sometimes people just need plot device to be mad at it's nothing personal, jack really is riko just with even less screen time and even less content lul. You will have the most fun when you wont rely on others to portray him the way you enjoy developing him, characters like this are basically fandom co owned oc's so it,s better to not get too hopeful about others creating content exactly the way you like it. But I love reading stuff like that! we have one thing in common then my jack is def disappointed upon meeting the boys , but as i sad Riko was already a success story to keep things interesting Jack will sadly get opposite of that treatment in narrative. Not everyone can or want to be helped, Foxes were not happy to meet jack , dressed red and black and referring to Riko as Raven king to other man's clear discomfort. But hey .. if Riko could go through it and be tolerable then there sure is hope for Jack .. right? Jack is the worst kind of sport fan - the one who often doe snot even attend the games instead favouring meetings few streets away fights under bridges and needles violence in name of beloved teams. I think a lot of blood got spilled in name of ravens over the 39 years the team was around they just attract people like this. Jack was perfect example of it, perfectly brainwashed by nests ideas and had not even set a foot inside, Tetsuji woudl have been proud, Riko and Kevin wan to vomit. For Riko it's first time truly seeing how brainwashed by raven propaganda people could have become. Jack life was not easy, he comes form military family, his home has set of rules written on a wall both for behaviour and for looks, Jack was not allowed to wear red not allowed to paint his eyes black or dye his hair - things many raven fans did to fit in. Jack was supposed to get drafted but due to his health conditions it would never be an option which led to his father treating him like lost cause waste of space, Jack going to military was the only worth and hope the man had for this boy. It's okay Jack never cared, getting thrown out of house meant freedom and lack of attachment no need to look back He headed to Palmetto got involved with social services this way meeting Renee when she was volunteering, and then down the line wymack. yes yes it was all planned Because now he was in foxes (fuck foxes) with Riko Riko who was much shorter than on tv. Riko who was captain of ravens, the strongest and best team, the person who never allowed other to mistreat him, fierce and dangerous, Jack wanted to be just like that<3 Sadly Riko was not all that any more. And instead of breaking it it just fuelled Jacks obsession, because with good few inches over Riko he started fantasizing about overpowering him, wouldn't this put him at the top of food chain? Jack is the reason Arron does not use slurs any more Arron would never want to sound the way this guy did when referring to Arrons brother and his boyfriend. Jack is the reason Nicky profoundly apologized to Neil and ... Matt over the things he done to them in the past and started therapy with new doctor not connected to rest of them because.... because of Jack so yeah anon I will most likely not give jack redemption or even happy end Riko is my boy for that , but it's not because i dislike him or the idea of him but because i just find him more interesting this way , he need to fill the Riko shaped slot in my doll house.

Journal Entry #53 // STORY INDEX
Victor
Hey, everyone.
I wanted to record something tonight to tell you that Yuri and I are okay. My last entry was kind of raw, and both of us were struggling really bad, so I figured it was only right to let you know that we came out the other side of that situation. Yuri fared worse than I did, but he's still here and that is what's important.
I'm gonna be honest, it's been a tough few days. Yuri stopped eating again, and I'm really worried he's going to end up back in the hospital if he doesn't get something more than water and soy milk into him soon. It's been doubly stressful because Fox somehow got the idea that it was his fault, and I've had to deal with that too.
The small bit of good news was that Fox understood when I explained to him that Yuri refusing to eat isn't a new thing, and it had nothing to do with him. He seemed reluctant to come back after that, though, and although I tried to encourage him to stick with us a bit longer, ultimately I told him it was fine if he didn't want to.
With one hand free, I'm able to cook, feed myself and do the majority of my own personal care, so I'm not dependent on someone else now. Yuri can at least get out of bed and take himself to the bathroom, so that's no longer an issue either. Some of the housecleaning is still a bit much for me to manage on my own, but I reasoned that the world wouldn't end if the laundry didn't get folded or the kitchen floor didn't get swept every day.
After talking it over, Fox agreed that he'd still come by every couple of days to help me do household chores, but he said he didn't want to look after Yuri any more. I wasn't happy about it, since I think Yuri still needs help maintaining his full personal care routine, but what could I do? I had to acknowledge what Fox wanted.
That might've been the end of the matter for me if Yuri hadn't acted so obviously relieved when he found out Fox wasn't going to be taking care of him any more. If I hadn’t known better, I might’ve thought something bad happened between them, but I knew Fox had been extremely careful. He never touched Yuri in any way without asking first, and he handled him like glass when he did. Sure, they’d had their disputes over food and eating, but Yuri is just as difficult at mealtimes with me and with his parents, so I didn’t see how that'd be any worse with Fox.
From what I observed, Fox had been giving maximum effort, and Yuri hadn't been making it easy for him. And yeah, I get that Yuri's in physical pain and that he's going through a lot psychologically, and I know that makes him frustrated and irritable, but I didn't think it was okay for him to take it out on Fox. I especially didn't think it was okay for him to play on Fox's insecurities. I mean, that poor guy hasn't had an easy life himself. He deserves to be built up instead of being torn down for a change.
Seriously, you guys have no idea how much I wanted to call Yuri out on that, right then and there. I'll concede that I let him get away with a lot, but I love him, and I've learned that love is just as much about helping your loved one learn and grow as it is about all the warm, fuzzy stuff. Sometimes growth is hard, and it might not feel like progress at all when you're going through it, but the end result is usually worth it.
My Grandpa Michael says love is like growing roses. You might not want to cut them back, but pruning them actually helps them get stronger. He says you've got to be careful, 'cause you also have to know when to prune them and how much to cut. And I mean, Grandpa Michael should know. He was married to my grandmother for over forty years, until she passed away, and you don't get that far without understanding what love is. Also, they grew the most gorgeous roses in Brindleton Bay together, and Grandpa Michael still tends them and refers to them as "Lydia's roses".
I haven't seen my grandfather or any of my relatives in Brindleton Bay for over two years, but I know I'll at least see Grandpa at Mom and Julian's wedding. I think he loves my mom as if she's his own daughter, and he stayed close with her and me after my dad and sister passed. At this point, none of us could imagine him not being a part of our lives and being there for all our major life events.
After the wedding, I might go back to the Bay with him for a visit. It'd be nice to spend some one-on-one time with him. We could geek out about sports, do all kinds of fancy cooking, and probably spend hours at the local fitness center. I'm sure there's a lot of maintenance work I could help him do around his place as well. Really, I just want to hang out with somebody who gets me on a fundamental level, and to take a break from all my regular responsibilities.
Oh, and maybe this is kinda off-topic, but in case you're curious, Grandpa Michael isn't my only surviving grandparent. My other set of grandparents, Isabella and Giancarlo DeLuca, are both alive and doing well. They moved back to Tartosa the summer Leo and I graduated from college, so about four years ago now. According to Nonna Isabella, they wanted to spend their golden years in the place where their lives began, which made a lot of sense to me. They immigrated a long time ago, and all their kids — my mom, Uncle Stephen and Uncle JP — were born in Canada, but although they built a life in Willow Creek and are naturalized Canadians now, I'm sure their hearts will always be Italian.
Ugh...yeah. Sorry for getting off-track there. I'm really tired, and I guess you guys have figured out by now that it's harder for me to concentrate and stay focused when I'm like this.
Anyway, back to what I was originally trying to tell you. You might be impressed to hear that I managed to hold back from lecturing Yuri about how he'd been treating Fox. If I'd confronted him about it right away, we would've ended up in an argument. I didn't think he could spare the energy to fight with me, and I can tell you that I certainly didn't have the wherewithal to argue with him. Since discretion is the better part of valour, as they say, I opted to wait for a more appropriate moment.
As it happened, however, my appropriate moment never came because his mother got to him before I did.
Mrs. Okamoto dropped in unexpectedly yesterday afternoon with some sort of soup she'd made for us, and the first thing she said after greeting me was, "Where's your friend? Is he upstairs with Yuri?"
"Um... no," I said, hesitant to tell her too much, but also not wanting to keep the truth from her. "Fox isn't here. He, um... the arrangement wasn't working out for him."
I should've known better than to hope my mother-in-law would let it go at that. "What do you mean, the arrangement wasn't working out? And didn't any of you think it would have been a good idea to tell me or Kenji that the situation had changed? It's not as if one of us hasn't been here with you every night."
"I thought Yuri was going to tell you," I said.
"Why would you think he'd take responsibility for telling us?"
"Uh... because... Like, I don't think Fox was comfortable, and Yuri wasn't very, um... diplomatic? He was sort of feeling like... uncharitable? But, I mean, if I realized he wasn't going to tell you, I would have. It was just—"
She must've noticed that I was getting flustered, because her demeanour softened a little. "No, it's all right," she said. "You're very responsible, and I know you would've told us if you didn't think we already knew."
"Sorry," I said. "I guess I should've told you anyway."
"Perhaps, but it doesn't matter now. At the moment, I'm less interested in who told me about it than I am in why it happened in the first place. Was there a problem?"
"Not from where I was standing," I said. "Fox was doing amazing, as far as I could see."
"Hmm..." was her response. "Well then, I suppose I'll have to ask Yuri about it, won't I?"
I can't say I was overjoyed when I imagined how that would go, and I questioned whether or not Yuri would even tell her the truth. I had a bad feeling he'd try to blame it on Fox when it was unequivocally not Fox's fault, and let me tell you, I definitely wouldn't have been pleased if he had done.
On the pretext of listening to an audiobook in my room, I followed my mother-in-law upstairs when she went up to talk to Yuri. I put my earbuds in, got my phone out of my pocket and laid down on my bed, but I'm sure you've probably already guessed that I didn't actually open up my audiobook app to play anything. As rude as it is to eavesdrop, I'm not even going to pretend I wasn't intending to do it. I totally was, because I wanted to see if Yuri would admit to his mother why he didn't want Fox here any more.
I eased one earbud out of my ear far enough so that it wasn't blocking sound but so it still looked like I was using it. Sneaky? Yes, but it was effective. I discovered that if I lay with my head facing the open door and didn't move around too much, I could hear most of what Yuri and his mother were saying.
They started with small talk, and I wondered if maybe she wasn't going to bring up the subject after all. But then she must've seen her opportunity when he asked her if she was planning to stay with us for the rest of the day and overnight.
I should explain, she and Mr. Okamoto have been taking turns spending the night with us since Mom and Julian and Uncle Kaz left, and they don't usually come until seven or eight in the evening. Fox would usually leave around five o'clock so he'd have time to help make dinner at home, which meant he rarely crossed paths with Yuri's parents.
"No," Mrs. Okamoto said, in response to Yuri's question. "I need to collect Yuki from school and drop her off at your grandmother's house, and then I've got to go back to the school for a parent-teacher conference. Your father's in Kyoto with Hana for a medical appointment today, but he'll be coming to stay with you when he gets back."
That was news. I didn't realize Hana was on speaking terms with her father, much less that she'd want him to accompany her to a doctor's appointment. Then again, Hana's getting really close to her due date, and maybe he insisted on going with her because he didn't want her driving. Whatever it was, I filed that bit of information away in my brain on the chance that it became relevant later.
"Oh. I was hoping it'd be you," Yuri was saying. "I wanted you to help me wash my hair. Papa always makes such a mess. He's not very good at cleaning up, and I don't want Victor to have to mop the floor. That's still too hard for him."
"I would've thought washing your hair was something your friend Fox could help you with," Mrs. Okamoto said, and the words rolled off her tongue as innocently as if she knew nothing whatsoever about Fox's sudden departure. "I'm surprised he's not here today."
"He's not coming back," Yuri said. "And he's not my friend."
"Oh?" Mrs. Okamoto contrived to sound suitably curious. "Why isn't he coming back?"
"Because Victor told him I didn't want him to."
That was a twist I hadn't seen coming. It was Fox's decision not to come back, and although It was fairly clear Yuri hadn't wanted him here and was glad to be rid of him, I hadn't expected him to tell his mother I’d said or done anything to facilitate it. He sounded so proud of it too, like he was boasting about how I'd saved him from some horrible fate. Not that I wouldn't have protected him if there really had been any risk, but that's not how it happened at all.
The way Yuri was recounting it to his mother was such a gross misrepresentation of the situation that it was all I could do to make myself stay in place and not run across the hall to interrupt. But then I remembered I'd already mentioned to Mrs. Okamoto that Fox hadn't been comfortable staying. She's a smart lady, and I admonished myself that I should trust her. She'd draw the correct inferences.
She didn't disappoint me. “Yuri, are you certain it was Victor who told him?”
“I wasn’t there when they talked," Yuri replied.
"So, you don't know that Victor asked him to leave."
"Yes I do, because Victor always makes sure I'm safe."
"I see," Mrs. Okamoto said. "So, am I to assume you were unsafe with that young man here?"
"Yes," he said.
"Did he physically hurt you, or touch you inappropriately?" she asked. "Was he unkind to you?"
There was a long silence, and it was killing me that I couldn’t see what was going on over there. Unless there was something Yuri hadn't revealed to me, the answer I was expecting to hear was 'no'.
After a minute, I caught a weak and tearful-sounding, "No, but..."
"But what?" Mrs. Okamoto prompted.
"He made me feel so awful," Yuri said. He sniffled loudly enough for me to hear it from my room, and I imagined him scrubbing tears away from his eyes with the heels of his palms, just like a toddler would do. Sometimes I find it cute when he does that, but in these circumstances? Not cute at all. "He said I need to try harder, and he wouldn't listen to me when I said I couldn't do things, and... and he was treating me like a child."
"Were you behaving like a child?"
"I don't do that."
"No stubbornness, then? No pouting or temper outbursts?"
"I don't—"
Mrs. Okamoto's next words weren't spoken in a mean way, but there was also no mistaking that she wasn't impressed with her son's attitude. "A little self-awareness wouldn't go amiss here, I think."
"Excuse me? Are you... are you implying I'm immature?" I could already hear the outrage starting to build in Yuri's voice, even though his tears. "You don't even—"
"Yuri," his mother cut him off. In the two simple syllables of his name, her tone conveyed everything; she wanted the truth and she was not having any of his nonsense today. I could easily picture her wielding that same authority in a business meeting when somebody was about to go off on a baseless rant about something. "Mature people don't throw tantrums or manipulate others as a means to an end. They communicate their needs and concerns clearly and honestly. Do you think you can do that?"
"So, you're going to treat me like a child too?"
"If you insist on behaving in that manner, yes," she said mildly. "You know what Papa says. People tend to address others according to the level of maturity they display."
Yuri made a sound of frustration. "If you aren't going to at least try to have some empathy, can you please leave? I don't need any more stress. Is that clear and honest enough?"
There was another pause, and then Mrs. Okamoto said, "I love you. From the moment I found out I was having you, I loved you more than I've ever loved anyone or anything else, and every time I think about you hurting in any way, it hurts me as well. But, I'm your mother. My purpose isn't only to love you. It's also to teach you."
"Teach me what? That I'm dishonest and immature and not self-aware enough?" "
"Yuri—"
"You might as well just say it. Is you goal to teach me I'm a terrible son and a useless failure as an adult? Then congratulations, I suppose, because you've absolutely done that."
"Okamoto Yuri, I did not come here to be disrespected by you," Mrs. Okamoto said, and no joke, I felt a little scared despite the fact that she wasn't talking to me and that I couldn't even see her.
Like, you know you've crossed a line when your mom starts using your whole name. Usually, my mom would be screaming it, often loud enough to be heard at Leo's house, four doors down the street from ours. Victor Thomas Edward Nelson, if you don't get your butt back here in five minutes, you're in big trouble!
It was the same with Aunt Millie. Leo said he knew he was gonna be toast when his mom started busting out "Leonardo Stephen DeLuca!" with enough volume to be heard from my backyard. We used to tell Ellie she didn't know how good she had it. None of us has ever heard Julian raise his voice for anything, let alone to shout Ellie's full name over half of Willow Creek.
But as much as I dislike it when my mom yells, I think if I had to pick, I'd rather have the yelling than the calm, firm voice Mrs. Okamoto was using on Yuri. It was like steel wrapped in velvet, and I'm pretty sure me and Leo would've been terrified if Mom or Aunt Millie had spoken to us like that when we were in trouble.
I half expected Yuri to apologize immediately. It's what I would've done. I probably would've been on the floor, bowing to her and addressing her as Okamoto-sama, and begging her to forgive me. We've been getting to know each other lately, and I feel like we’ve been warming to each other a lot, but that doesn't mean I'm not still afraid of her.
Yuri, apparently, did not share my sentiment.
I could tell he was still crying, but that didn't stop him from sounding as if he believed he had the stronger position. "Interesting, because I wouldn't have thought you'd come here to disrespect me in my own house."
I physically cringed at that, not just because Mrs. Okamoto's reaction was likely to be unpleasant, but also because I had no problem imagining a response with the exact same delivery coming out of Mr. Okamoto's mouth. For all Yuri's insistence that he's nothing like his dad, he kinda is, which maybe proves the theory of nature over nurture.
Part of me wanted to stop listening at that point, and I almost turned on my audiobook for real, but another part of me was drawn to the drama across the hallway.
"If you think honesty is disrespect," Mrs. Okamoto said, "then I'm afraid you've still got some things to learn."
"There's a difference between being honest and being hurtful."
"Yes, there is," she agreed. "The difference is in how you react. If someone else's honesty hurts you, then you ought to ask yourself why that is. If the truth hurts, it's usually because we don't want to admit something about ourselves."
"I don't want to have this conversation," Yuri said.
"Well, I certainly can't force you to," said his mother. "But, if you don't want to talk to me, perhaps you can discuss it with your father instead. He had to learn that lesson too, and it took nearly losing the people he loves most before he accepted it. Maybe his perspective would be more convincing."
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean is that I might've stayed in America with your uncle if it hadn't been for Victor's accident."
He sounded incredulous. "You came back for Victor?"
"I came back for you," she said. "Because I thought you might need me. But, what I'm saying is that when I left last autumn, I had absolutely no intention of returning. Or at least not until your father came to his senses."
"Came to his senses about what, exactly?"
"Came to his senses and realized that he was harming himself and everyone around him," she said. "He was trying to build a wall around himself because he seemed to think it was a way of protecting everyone, but he was still getting hurt and all he really accomplished was to push everyone else away."
"What's that got to do with me?" Yuri said.
"It has everything to do with you."
"How?" Yuri asked.
"Papa was scared and angry and frustrated about things in his life, but instead of talking about it, he was behaving like a child and taking it out on the people he should've trusted to help him get through it," she answered. "He was upset because he felt isolated, as if no one cared about him, but the way he was dealing with it was isolating him even more." Her voice was quieter as she added, "Does that sound familiar?"
There was an even longer silence than the previous ones, and then I thought I heard Yuri say, "I'm sorry."
The next thing I knew, he was pouring out the whole thing to his mother, telling her stuff that he’d never said anything to me about. Although I probably could've inferred some of it, other parts of it were a revelation, and not necessarily in a good way.
He told her how he hadn't really wanted Fox to come here, but he agreed to it for my sake because he knew I was worried about not being able to take care of him myself and because I thought it was an acceptable alternative to the home healthcare program. He endured it as long as he could, he said, and he'd tried not to complain too much because he didn't want to seem ungrateful. But he'd been struggling because Fox was encouraging him to do more and more things for himself and didn't seem to understand when he explained why he couldn't do them.
"I cried every day," he said pitifully. "I didn't want Victor to know, because he doesn't like to see me crying and I didn't want to upset him.”
"You didn’t think he’d want to know you were unhappy?” Mrs. Okamoto asked.
“It wasn’t just being unhappy,” Yuri said. “It’s a lot more than that. It’s… everything. My whole existence. It’s just… all pain, all the time, and sometimes adding one more thing is too much. But, how was I supposed to tell Victor that?”
“You’ve told me,” she said.
“You don’t look at me the way Victor does.” The words came out low and strained, as if he was trying to suppress a sob. “He… he wants to fix it, but he can’t, and he gets this helpless look. It breaks my heart, Mama. I hate being responsible for that.”
“You aren’t responsible for Victor’s feelings,” Mrs. Okamoto said. “It may seem that way, but he’s the only one in control of how he responds. Perhaps I don’t look at you the way he does because I’ve learned to accept your illness and everything that comes along with it."
"Victor knows all about it too."
"Knowing and accepting are different," she said.
I had to think about that for a minute. Did she have a point? Do I really not accept Yuri's illness?
Yes, I do know practically every unpleasant detail of it, and I know how to take care of him. I recognize that he'll always be chronically ill, and that there'll be times when he's well and times when he's really sick. But, is that really acceptance?
Maybe it isn't.
Knowing all the facts is one thing, but being okay with them is another, and I can't say I'm not resentful and angry about Yuri being ill. You have to understand, though, I'm not directing any of that toward Yuri. He can't help being the way he is. It's more like I'm resentful toward the powers of fate or whatever for causing him to suffer this much, and I'm angry because I can't do anything to change it. It's not fair, and it hurts so damn much that I can't even find words to describe how agonizing it is. Just as Yuri said, I want to fix it, but I can't, and that makes me feel defeated, powerless and so overwhelmingly sad that it's as if my heart is being crushed.
I guess it's kinda like what I went through after losing my dad and sister. I experienced all the emotions; denial, sadness, rage, guilt. I did everything I could to find a place in my mind for my grief, to make sense of something utterly senseless.
With Dad and Caroline, I was stuck on sadness for the longest time. Years, in fact, and it's only been since this past summer that I've finally come to terms with it, learning that I can coexist with it without it taking control over the trajectory of my life. It's okay to still feel lost or sad or angry sometimes, but I also understand that wishing for the events of the past to be different is futile and only causes me more pain in the end.
I'm not there yet when it comes to Yuri's illness, and I'm not sure what to do to get there. All I know is, I want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem, but I definitely can't do it on my own. So, I guess the best course of action would be to talk to my therapist about it, right? We've already discussed my challenges as a caregiver, so this likely won't be unexpected for him, and maybe he'll have some good insights to help me move forward.
It's weird, me wanting to involve my therapist. It's super weird to me that I even have a therapist, 'cause that would've been so far off my proverbial radar in the past, I probably would've laughed at anyone who suggested it. But now, I like to call it the silver lining that came out of my accident. If it hadn't been for that, I still wouldn't be seeing him, and maybe I wouldn't be making as much progress on self-improvement.
I realized I'd missed part of the conversation between Yuri and his mom when the sound of him sobbing pulled me out of my musings and back to reality. Evidently, Yuri was determined to say whatever was on his mind regardless of his emotional state, because he was getting choppy bits of sentences out between gasps for breath.
He was crying so hard that I could barely make out what he was saying, and the first thing I was able to catch was, "I hate eating. You know I hate it!"
"You need to eat, Yuri," his mother said gently.
"I know, but I don't want to."
"Why don't you want to?"
"Because it's too difficult," he said. "Fox kept making me do it by myself, but it made me feel worse, and he talked down to me as if I were a little child and I was acting out and being difficult on purpose. But... I really can't do it. I tried so hard to endure it, but I couldn't any more, and I just... I want... I want it to be... be over."
His words got almost completely lost in tears after that, but I thought I heard something about wanting to sleep forever, and about respecting his wishes, and about his whole life feeling out of control.
His mother let him cry for a bit, and then she said, "Did you tell any of this to Victor?"
"N-not really."
"Then, how did you expect him to help you or to respect your wishes?" she asked. "He loves you unconditionally and he's a wonderful caregiver, but he can't read your mind. Neither can I, nor your father, nor anyone else."
"I... I know. But..."
"You need to let us know how you feel and what you need."
"I'm tired of being weak," he said. "I'm tired of being a failure and a disappointment and... and a burden to everyone. Maybe it'd be better if I wasn't even here, because then I wouldn't be hurting everyone I love."
"Darling, look at me," Mrs. Okamoto said, and I envisioned her sitting down on the bed and cradling the side of his face in her hand. "No one would be better of without you. We love you, and we want you to be here. Do you understand?"
"You don't understand. I... I'd be better off," he said. "Mama, please... I've suffered long enough, and it's not fair that everyone else has to suffer because of me."
"We can get help for you,"she said.
"I don't want any more help. I'm trying to tell you, that's the problem. Everyone always has to do everything for me, and I don't want that. I'd rather live an independent life, or... not at all."
"Being ill and needing help are things that are entirely beyond your control," she told him. "You're not disappointing anyone, and you aren't burdening us by asking for help. What hurts us is watching you pretend things aren't as bad as they are and seeing you try to fight all alone, and finally reaching a breaking point like this."
"But, don't you want me to be independent?"
"I think you misunderstand what independence is," she said. "It has very little to do with how much you rely on others and everything to do with how you handle your responsibilities. If you can't do something on your own, the responsible thing to do is to ask someone to help you. Your independence is in your ability to make your own choices and to do what you need to do to reach your goals."
"I don't have any goals," he said. "They seem kind of pointless."
"Do they?"
"They do when I know I'll never achieve them anyway."
"What do you think you can't achieve?"
"What can I achieve when I'm like this?" he countered.
"Tell me something," Mrs. Okamoto said. "If you could make one wish come true right now, what would it be? Anything at all."
I was surprised at his answer. "Papa asked me that too. I told him I'd like to go to Sulani with Victor."
Mrs. Okamoto didn't seem surprised at all. "Could that be a goal?"
"No," Yuri said. "We're never going to be able to do it."
"Why not?" Mrs. Okamoto asked."
"Because we spent all our money on the down payment for Victor's haunted house, and once we get there, we'll be spending more money on furniture and a car and his university tuition and who knows what else."
"What if money were no object?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I know you told Papa you wanted to go to Sulani," she said.
"He told you that?"
"Yes," she confirmed. "We discussed it, and we also talked about it with your grandparents. You didn't have a honeymoon, and none of us gave you a wedding gift, so we decided that we'd like to pay for your trip, if you really want to go."
"What?" Yuri blurted.
That was more or less my reaction, too. I literally had to put my hand over my mouth to prevent myself from making any noise. I was shocked by the proposition. I'd like nothing more than to go back to Sulani and to take Yuri with me, but like him, I was resigned to the idea that it'd be a very long time before we'd get the chance, due not just to our finances but to his health and everything else going on in our lives.
"We were going to wait until you were feeling better, and Papa and I were planning to tell you and Victor together," Mrs. Okamoto said. "But I think this is the right time."
"Why do you think this is the right time? How is it right?" he demanded and, far from sounding pleased, he still seemed angry. "I can barely leave my bed, never mind leaving the country. I don't know if I'll even be well enough for our move. How can I think about going on a vacation?"
"I don't mean now is the right time to go," she clarified. "I mean, this is the right time to tell you. Clearly, you aren't ready yet, but perhaps you'll find some motivation to set some goals if you have something to look forward to."
"Such as?"
"You tell me," she said. "If you can't think about going on a vacation, then think about your move. What would you need to do to be ready for that?"
"Besides packing, and starting my immigration paperwork, and spending even more money on our flight?" he said. "Get better."
"And what would that look like?"
"You expect me to say eating on my own, don't you?"
"No," she said. "I don't. I expect you to tell me what your definition of getting better is."
"Being able to get up and do things for myself," he said. "Not being a drain on everyone around me and not putting all the responsibility for everything on Victor's shoulders. Not being constantly tired and stressed, and I don't know... Actually feeling there's some reason to be alive."
"What's causing you the most stress?"
"Eating," he replied, likely to the astonishment of no one.
"Is there anything that would make it less stressful?" she asked, and then added, "Something other than someone feeding you."
"Dr. Kasongo suggested tube feeding," he said. "Victor thinks I don't know he was talking to her about it. I think they were trying to keep it from me until the doctor felt like it was absolutely necessary, because they were worried I'd be upset. But, I... I might actually want that. Do you... do you think it's awful for me to want it?"
"If you'd like my personal opinion," she said, "I think that's a bit extreme. There may be something less drastic you can do before resorting to that. if you want to know whether or not it would be a good solution for you, though, I think you should speak to your doctor about it yourself."
"I don't know if I can," Yuri said.
"Of course you can," she said. "I'll come with you, if you like."
"Really? What about Victor?"
"If you'd rather have him with you, then certainly, he should come."
"No. I want you to come," Yuri said. "But—"
"You have to tall him," Mrs. Okamoto said firmly. "No more keeping things from him, all right? I think you know, marriages can't survive too many secrets, even if you believe you're keeping them for the right reasons."
"Even if I want to protect him?"
"Remember what I told you," she said. "You're not protecting him by hiding things from him. I'll come with you to talk to the doctor, but I need you to promise not to keep anything from Victor from now on. Not about this or about anything else that's upsetting you."
"Okay," he said meekly.
"And if you're worried about him keeping things from you, I'll be addressing that with him as well."
That was the moment when I stopped listening. My mind was already spinning from everything I'd overheard, both positive and negative. The prospect of getting lectured by my mother-in-law was one thing too many for my brain to process. I finally opened my audiobook and started listening just to distract myself from panicking.
Up to then, I thought Yuri and I were doing okay with our communication. Yeah, we have our problems, but I believed we were pretty much open with each other. It was jarring to view it from somebody else's perspective and to see we may have been hiding a lot more than either of us realized.
Something else to work on, I thought.
It's okay, though. We're all works in progress, so there'll always be something to do, and I'd rather know what I need to fix and do my best to make changes than to just blithely go about my business and never understand that I could be hurting someone. Like, ignorance may be bliss for the ignorant person, but not for the people around him.
Change is hard, but I think that thing about pruning the roses applies to ourselves as well as our loved ones. If I want to bloom, I may have to cut back a few of my own branches too.

-Just me and you-
High school AU- Ike eveland x gn!short!reader fluff
-Just me and you-pt2-
In where, you make new friends but you find yourself leaning on a certain someone’s shoulder.
(This is just for fun,do not take this seriously and to the included streamers,I am sorry if you see this-totally. I hope you enjoy reading this)
---
You looked at Ike with hope.
“Is this yours?”
Ike looks at you in awe as he saw that you possessed his beloved key that he had lost earlier on that day. His cheeks still tinted with a slight pink colour. You brushed it off, thinking his expression was absolutely adorable.
You looked away as you noticed that you’ve been staring to long at Ike.
“So whose house are we going to?It can’t be mine because my dad wouldn’t allow any boys from school to come over”Mika explained and you were happy that Mika comes during the right times when wished.
Everyone’s attention was to the current topic and the boys finally took a seat.
“we could do the project at the library if we can’t do it in anyone’s house.” Shu suggested to the group and most of us agreed with his idea.
Both Mysta and Shu denied that the group could enter their house for the project because of travel. Their houses were apparently too far away.Ike said nothing ever since he had greeted you. You were going to deny access to your house but there was a lump in your throat. Sadly Ike beat you to it.
“sorry guys,my house is a bit too small for a group of 5 to come” You sighed as everyone else said that ‘it was okay’.
“you guys can come to my house..” Your whispered tone wasn’t loud enough for most of the group. The rest were already agreeing to going to  the library but then Ike spoke up. He looked at you and smiled with a gentle expression.
“Hey guys,y/n said that we can all go to her house”
“I didn’t hear them..”Mysta said with a scruff tone which sounded a bit rude but you didn’t mind at all. Mika flicked the blue eyed fox on the forehead while Ike just groaned out his name in annoyance under his breath. This made you chuckle and Shu just shook his head.
Everyone then agreed to going to your house do work on the project. You found this kind of exciting because you have never had anyone over at your house to do school work or just hang out in general. Your parents have been away for business purposes so they wouldn’t be back for around two weeks or possibly 2 months. No one was taking care of you at home but your parents always made sure that you had enough money to buy food and such.
It was only a 20 minute walk from school to home. Hopefully they wouldn’t mind that.
As you were spacing off in your thoughts, you caught the attention of novelist. He was staring at you and was curious about you. Although there was a huge difference between the both of you, personality wise, in aesthetics and especially height. He couldn’t help but smile at how cute you were. His heart was beating faster but he knew that this couldn’t be love at first sight.
‘That is so cringe’ He thought so,wondering why that he was appearing to act like this when he was with you or though of you. Gripping on the nearest item because of how confused he was about what he was experiencing. He was thinking of every single possible reason why he was but for now he just shook it off.
By the time the class ended, the group had departed. Heading to their next class. Ike was walking with Shu to their next class while Mysta ran off to Luca because they were in different classes. Shu nudged his elbow at Ike’s stomach and sent his signature smirk.
“So, y/n huh?” Shu inquired in a teasing way. Ike looked at his friend with a questionable look.
“What do you mean?”Ike tried to disguise the fact that he acts a bit odd when you were around. Shu still was persistent. Ike cruses as he remembered that his raven like friend had the intuition of a fortune teller.
“I have noticed that you seem interested in ‘em~”He phrased cheekily still nudging his elbow at Ike.
“I really don’t know about that Shu,they’re just really cute..”Admitting his thoughts Ike was trying to hide his face from his friend and the last thing Ike saw from Shu before departing to their assigned seats was Shu’s sly little smirk.
--//after school//--
As agreed, everyone was to meet up at the canteen/cafeteria. You were there first as you had a free period. You patiently waited, sitting down on one of the canteen/cafeteria benches. You were reading a book that you bought with your saved up allowance. The book was about unrequited love. Although you had a mutual feeling about romance novels, you felt like you could relate to the book in some way.
You continued to read the book with curiosity on whether you would ever have feelings for someone as strong as the protagonist of the novel. As you had your headphones plugged in with music, you read with such concentration and interest to know what was going to happen next. You were so focused on the book that you didn’t realize that a certain somebody sat right in front of you.
Fixing his gold framed glasses he grinned, you were reading one of books he had finished quite a while ago.Reading books was one of Ike’s loved hobbies.Your eyes started to strain after reading 42 pages.Looking up to see once again the bi haired male. You were shocked and took off your headphones.
“hi?”Your tone was calm. You were staring at him,his soft expression and comforting. He sent you a welcoming smile and spoke in a similar tone.
“That book is one of my favorite unrequited love stories.”
You return a smile to him and nod.He was staring at you and just looked away in embarrassment. The tension was too much for the both of you.You were silently crying because you have never had an interaction with someone so odd.You have dealt with many awkward interactions but this tension was really different.
Putting aside the novel and your headphones rested on your shoulders. You were about to make conversation with him but then you heard Mika and Mysta approaching the both of you.You could hear their laughter as they entered the cafeteria/canteen.They had seat themselves down and you excused yourself to the restroom.
You looked at yourself in the mirror.Your hair was slightly messy so you decided to fix it.When you were done, you washed your hands and made your way back into the canteen/cafeteria.You saw that Shu had finally made it.
Walking towards them, you felt like you should talk a it more. You felt a bit more comfortable now that Mika was here with you.
“shall we go?” You asked them with a much louder volume than you usually would use. You grabbed your backpack and put it on,brushing off, imaginary dust from your winter coat.
The sun was still out as it was only 4 pm yet it was still freezing to say the least. Everyone agreed on being ready to head off to your house. Mika linked arms with you as the whole group left the school grounds. The boys were joking and talking while Mika and you had a conversation. Mika has came to your house to drop off some homework before so she knows where you live.
Mika and you were in front if the boys while they followed. This reminded you of ‘Dog privileges’. You decided to show them the shortcut to your house. The crunching sound of the dead leaves on the ground as you stepped on them made you satisfied in a way.
Winter was your favorite season of them all because Summer was too hot for you,Spring was always rain and Autumn was alright but still a bit more rain than winter. You loved the feeling of being cold when going out then coming home to make hot chocolate/coffee/tea.
You somehow felt more complete now,for some reason you felt a sense of happiness when you heard that there was more people you knew.
--//your house//--
“Welcome to my house, would you guys like any beverages?”You asked the group with more confidence.Everyone placed their bags in the sitting room. The group looked in awe at how big your house was.You certainly didn’t live in a mansion but it was bigger than the average house.
They told you what they would like, most being water but you truly didn’t mind making them some tea, coffee or hot chocolate so you asked again, giving options this time.
Finally they gave you a more reasonable answer. Two hot chocolates and two teas.
They all set up in the sitting room because it was the biggest room in the house. Mika volunteered to help you make the drinks. The steam coming from the kettle and how the house was warm just made you feel comfortable.
Mixing the hot chocolate and the tea, when done, you and Mika brought it into the sitting room where the boys set out their materials. You both placed each mug to the assigned person.
They all thanked you and Mika for making their beverages. The boys had already set out Mika’s materials and yours as well.
“lets start this project,shall we?”
===
After hours of working on the project, Mika had fell asleep on one of the sofa chairs. Your vision was getting blurred and found yourself leaning on the closes person.
Ike chuckled quietly as he brought your head onto his shoulder. Resting into his warmth, you felt comfortable.
They agreed to staying at your house for the night because it was already 11pm. They contacted their parents before so, they didn't mind this at all because it was for school work.
Ike smiled at you before closing his eyes fully to rest.

Keeps Him Up
Summary: Hiei thought he knew what suffering was. (angst)
***
It's a haunting phrase that keeps Hiei up, now as dawn approaches. Hiei had thought he'd heard and seen it all. Battle, enslavement, the deaths of innocent fools who knew no better. If someone questioned him over the horrors he had seen and endured, Hiei could have made their head spin, if he ever deemed it worthy enough to share the stories.
But what a fool Hiei was. Those horrors had just been life... and they had not caused him suffering, because he had not been attached. Well, he was certainly attached now.
Kurama had often lectured Hiei on the merits of companionship, comradery, and friendship. The fox, who had once been as cold and closed off as Hiei, seemed to have changed his story and spent many days waxing poetics at Hiei. Kurama had changed and opened his heart to friendship and love, and swore to Hiei it was better.
And Hiei had listened, because even when Hiei kept a distance from others, Kurama was his friend. The one friend he would admit to. He didn't know why the fox insisted he needed more. But Hiei considered Kurama's words... even if he wasn't sure as to why.
Like a curse, Kurama's insistence of Hiei needing friendship seemed to come true, for slowly, and with much resistance, Hiei let others in. Yusuke was the first. The useless detective, with amazing strength for a human, that only made sense when it turned out he wasn't a human. The cocksure man had somehow wormed his way in, and Hiei hadn't been able to oust the moron from his heart ever since.
And then Kuwabara... who Hiei had resisted the most. Hiei resisted, and fought so hard against it, that it was a slap in the face when Kuwabara introduced Hiei as a friend to a stranger. Hiei had stared at him, and Kuwabara had the gall to laugh at Hiei's face, and at the stranger, Kuwabara reported, "We fight like a cat and rat, but Hiei's a good friend. I'm pretty sure he hates it."
Hiei had fled, only for Kuwabara to tease him about it later. Infuriatingly, Hiei let him.
Hiei had tried not to let them in, one was bad, and two was worse, but three? Hiei had let three people into his heart?! It could not be so... but it had happened. And because it happened, Hiei cared. And because he cared... Hiei was haunted. Haunted.
A demon, someone under Murkuo's employment came out of a room, carrying a mess of blood-soaked linen. Hiei grunted at them, and the demon froze, waiting for Hiei to speak.
"Does he live?" Hiei demanded, short and sweet. There was no use with preamble at this heightened state of emergency.
"He lives still. We're working on it. A-Aid is coming!" the demon sputtered.
Hiei waves them away.
They leave, and Hiei stands in the hall, battle-worn and exhausted. The words that were keeping him up, stir in his mind now, and he closes his eyes against them as they whisper, "Hiei... I... I'd like to go home."
Hiei thought he knew the meaning of suffering. Bot nothing compared to this dreadful wait of not knowing if his friend would live, and if he'd have to report the other two... what happened.
