the way people equate Hades and Hel and every single other underworld to the Christian hell, can we just... STOP

Hades is not the devil, Hel is not the devil, and while we're at it Loki is not the devil either, they're not evil and they don't tempt people into sin, they're just people with jobs, they don't deserve this slander

and actually even worse when Olympus gets portrayed as "heaven" because... if you're just a regular mortal human you're not getting in there, that's where the gods live, you're going down to Hades (unless Zeus takes a fancy to you or something but idk if that's necessarily a step up)

and the only way you're getting into Valhalla is if you die heroically in battle so that Odin or Freyja is impressed, otherwise you're off to Hel

but of course the Christian view of good/evil and heaven/hell and sinning/repenting and god/devil is universal and therefore every other mythology must follow the same pattern, right?

the reason why it's so annoying in fiction is that it leads to this same old boring Christian view of things where we just substitute Hel for hell instead of actually thinking about how morality etc works in this world, where there are different values, where maybe things like honour and bravery are far more important than humility and selflessness, where people only feel guilt if they've actually done something wrong, etc etc

but instead of exploring any of that, people just throw in a "burn in Hel" for Viking Flavour(tm) which doesn't even make sense because there's no fire and brimstone in Hel, and same thing goes for Hades

"damn you to Hades!" dude if that's your belief system then everyone is going to Hades anyway so what even is the point

I keep seeing gif sets and photos of Steve's injuries from fighting the bats and I keep thinking someone should write a fanfic where he successfully defends everyone in that scene and then just *drops.*

He's done. Taken out. Needs serious medical care and cannot be easily moved. Is trying to keep a straight face but keeps hissing through his teeth, voice breaking, whining and wiggling away when people try to touch him.

Cue Robin and Nancy setting out to figure out how the hell to get out (and get Steve help) while Eddie is left behind.

With Steve.

In the Upside Version of Steve's house.

Alone.

For a long ass time.

Then Steve starts admitting things to him and Eddie thinks it's a good distraction at first until he slowly realizes that these are Steve's confessions.

His promises to the kids and Robin that he's now passing on to Eddie, because Steve thinks he's going to die.

And that Eddie cannot, will not, let him.

Even if he has to fight Steve himself on the matter.
