Luci Interacts Pt 2

technically it's the next day so technically I'm allowed to draw so- yeah I'll stop making excuses, I was so sooo bored

So! This is how Luci interacts with the Mad Dogz (there's a lot of reading, so just a heads up)

Luci: sigh "I hate how much you get me." Raph: "Ha ha! Really? Glad we can relate to each other."

When Luci first saw Raph, she thought he was so badass and be cool and spunky. Needless to say that she was immediately disappointed when she learned that he was a more of a softie, and she kind of dismissed any interactions with him. That is until she goes to their lair for the first time and sees his room and her eyes go to his stuffed toy collection. Raph would ramble on and on about them, and Luci would get invested. Luci doesn't fully understand the appeal, but when he gifts her a plush, she finds it oddly comforting and is always somewhere within her reach when she goes to bed. Their relationship expanded from there with Raph's room becoming another one of her safe spaces. Luci and Raph would relate with each other's anger issues (someone clearly having it much worse) and he would be one of the only people she'd talk about some of her issues with. Raph even shows her methods to deal with her short temper, which doesn't really work but the effort is what counts. Their bond is close but they don't do much aside from these small therapeutic talks in Raph's room. They have small talk, but don't have that much in common.

"I find Raph to be kind, and not in the suspicious way like that Beaver, and compassionate. He's a good friend to have and his fiery spirit to fighting makes him even cooler! I gotta have him teach me some moves. Maybe I can kick that trash eater's *** if I do. Speaking of him, the big guy loses some points for being all buddy buddy with the trash eater. Though knowing him.. it can't be helped so.. I don't hold it against him harshly."

Luci: "We're definitely killing this guy, right?" Donnie: "Oh we are going to ANNIHILATE them, my friend."

Luci is the closets with Donnie! She finds his sarcasm very charming and his sass being on the same level as hers. These two would verbally destroy ANYONE if they stood in the way (they're the mean girls). When they first met, Luci wasn't interested in him at all since he kept to himself. It was only when she meets S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N for the first time that she gets interested in what Donnie actually does. Luci is very interested in Donnie's tech, in contrast to Pico, mainly because of the lights. She also finds the sounds that they make to be quite pleasant. Luci zones out at everything Donnie says until she tells him to shut up; but if it's any kind of math, she's immediately invested and will assist in any equations Donnie is working on for projects. Her working in the junkyard, when it came to repossessing cars, she's actually a bit handy with tools. She's no expert but she can get things running, even if only barely, so she helps with what she can with building Donnie's inventions. Aside from them bonding over tinkering, they also watch tv shows together, mostly sci-fi related or specific dramas. Luci likes how Donnie is also straight forward like Repo and appreciates people like this because their simpler to understand. Adding the fact that Donnie is a terrible liar, she can read his ques even easier because she's still trying to understand them since being mutated. He's also the most helpful to her when overwhelmed from the blaring lights and constant noise of New York.

"Dee is pretty cool, ignoring his terrible music tastes. He's a bit talkative on things I don't understand, but his passion has my respect. His lab is the most interesting thing with all those robo things. I like tinkering with things in there, mainly big shelves he neglects to bolt correctly, so I tighten or loosen them so they're actually stable. Who knew a genius like him could forget the damn basics with simple things. I try to stay away from any of his bigger projects though.. the engines can be very loud.. And I hate to say it, but I understand the trash eater's point with robots. They don't gotta be everywhere doin' everythin' but they are handy. I like assembling them more then the end results and functions of 'em."

Leo: "Okay okay, you're gonna love this next joke" Luci: "Pff- please no more! They're so bad!" Luci: "LEOOOOOO YOU MOTHERF-"

Luci and Leo have a weird dynamic. One moment, they could be chill and cool and the next, Luci will want to rip Leo's head off. Luci likes Leo's sass and sharp wits and actually finds some of his jokes funny, though she doesn't do more than snort at them. Luci instantly liked Leo with his charisma, but finds him to be annoying. For a long time they would only be sassy with one another and their relationship wouldn't grow until Leo catches Luci watching tv, specifically a dramatic romance (for a reason I'll elaborate on another time). Leo would instantly be invested and the two of them would watch romances, dramas, and reality tv shows together. This grows them closer, but Leo's mischievous side screws with Luci a bit. Luci doesn't understand the concept of pranks as a way of messing with someone in a lighthearted way and instead sees it as an insult. Everytime Leo pranks her, she will literally hunt him down and attack him. She forgives him at the end of the day, but her lack of understanding and Leo's inability to not mess with someone, leaves their relationship stuck in this wishy-washy state of being good friends to awkward acquaintances.

"I like Leo, I really do but.. I just don't get 'im sometimes. He's the most fun to hang out with, but then he does things that make me angry and it's supposed to be treated as not a big deal. I've seen his brothers act the same way as I do at his antics, but we always seem distant by the end of it.. it's so confusing, honestly. Why are people so confusing? It makes me wonder why I should have friends at all sometimes. But then again, I know they have my back so.. clearly it's not all confusing, right?"

Mikey: "Hey Luci! How've you been? Still trying to fully tame Mrs. Nubbins and stuff..?" Luci: "Hm? Oh, yeah I guess."

Luci is indifferent towards Mikey. At first, Luci was untrusting towards Mikey as his brightness reminded her of Todd's kindness. She avoided him the most out of all the brothers, and their relationship took the longest to develop. But she'd notice all the drawings on the wall or the fridge and get sucked in by the splashes of colors. She finds out it's Mikey by catching him draw at one point. She'd observe from a distance before it became their little activity for Mikey to draw and Luci to just watch. It was a comfortable silence for them, and Mikey would be cheerful that they'd be growing closer. That is until the "Nothing But Truffle" episode when Mikey ditches Todd for Meat Sweats. Luci is aware that Mikey is a major fan of Meat Sweats and understood his desire to be friends with him; she even understood him leaving Todd to hang out with him. The problem was that, despite not liking Todd, she didn't like Mikey's actions. She didn't understand how he could easily cast away someone he considered a friend for a person they didn't even really know, instead idolized. This kind of broke their relationship as Luci started getting confused again. She wondered if Mikey would do the same thing to her, thinking a bit selfishly but its justified in this case. She gains a bit of sympathy for Pico when she sees his clear distaste towards Mikey's actions. As it stands now, they don't hang out unless someone else is present, and even then Luci won't initiate conversations. Luci is stuck on whether she can trust Mikey and wanting to at the same time. The situation is very confusing to her, so she acts like how she did when they first met, dismissive. (Mikey just cannot win, can he?)

"My thoughts on Mikey..? He's.. he's artistic, very talented in that. He's spunky and bright, I guess. And he's... I don't want to answer this anymore."

Based off of real events, you got me thinking about Lilia leaving some kind of noise machine underneath other's desks playing fart sounds when the office reaches rare moments of quiet in the day. That fart machine will circulate around the office for a few days.

Lilia ABSOLUTELY leaves all kinds of noise machines and whoopee cushions around, you can also never shake hands with him because he has that ring that shocks you, all kinds of classic pranks he’ll absolutely do. And as time goes, they’ll get more and more elaborate.

And if Lilia gets closer to Idia in any way shape of form, it’s over for everyone, because if they join forces… With Idia’s genius mind and skills, he could enhance that noise machine in a way that’ll make the whole office shudder…

Do you have any designs for Ace's brother? I've always thought of his brother as Jack Hearts from Disney recruiters if you don't, but I've slapped so much angst onto those boys it's hard to imagine they wouldn't want to "support" each other whenever Ace comes home for the holidays.

Well… it’s kind of awkward, because our view of Ace’s brother is closer to Eddy’s brother from Ed Edd n Eddy lol Ace used to think that his older brother is cool and maybe even idolised him a little when he was a kid, but then got disillusioned and annoyed as he grew older. They bicker a lot because they’re siblings + both of them are kind of mean and quick to throw each other under the bus. His brother isn’t necessarily malicious (although scenarios in which he is a complete jerk could be super fun too), but they often have heated arguments + there is this sense of “I’m older, therefore I win” between them.

Sooo… while this design isn’t something that we’re 100% sure about (if I ever draw him again, he might look COMPLETELY different, so keep that in mind lol), but the overall vibe is kind of like this. A jerk that kind of looks like a slightly older Ace.

That being said, Ace’s brother being supportive of Ace and overcoming complicated stuff is a sweet idea, Anon! I really wonder what their actual relationships are like…

Haven't seen anyone talk about this but it's been on my mind. I loved memory #6 I just genuinely enjoy the Gerudo and adore when they appear. I noticed a couple things about their appearance. Some have shaved hair and Mohawks, they also seem to be wearing war makeup? Also they can control moldugas?! I loved it and it kinda got me thinking... why don't we see Gerudo's with shaved hair? or why does no one mention the fact they can control moldugas. The Gerudo now present more feminine attire; from hair to makeup. Sooo did the Gerudo just phase out of this style? did they forget how to control moldugas? Or did they stop theses traditions because the association with Ganon? or were they forced? idk I just really wanted someone else opinion on this because no one really seems to care. I feel as if it's important to understand tradition and how and why we celebrate it or how or why we stopped celebrating it.

I think it was actually a pretty clever way on the game's part to show (with a bunch of visual shortcuts) that gerudos used to be more warlike under Ganondorf's command, and then phased out of this after the whole Demon King situation --though it is worth notice that the Thunder Sage in the past already looks very much like a modern gerudo, and seems to align with the way they present in the current age.

So this could suggest a split already between the gerudos; either a deep-rooted one that pre-existed the zonai kingdom, or one where gerudos intending to betray Ganondorf perform a more "acceptable" version of femininity to better integrate in hylian society and make themselves less threatening overall. I doubt this version of Ganondorf would value a lot of traits hylians seem to associate with the feminine; it could be either about diplomacy or as an act of rebellion.

But, on a more meta level: I think it still pretty much aligns with every previous discussion about how gerudos softened for the benefit of hylians --or at least, for the player's sake. I don't know if my thoughts diverge enough from the original text to warrant a Gerudo Post 2 post-TotK, beyond moping the puddles of my brazen optimistic approach and meditate on how so much more... on target I was than I ever wanted to be in regards to their developement, but if it doesn't, I want to at least add this: the fact that we get introduced to Gerudo Town from the Bazaar by a bunch of weirdo creeps that want to try the limits of how much they can get away with pushing against the gerudos' boundaries and get inside their spaces because (and I quote, I took the screenshot how could I not) "Keeping us shut out only makes us all the more curious though! I mean, that's just common sense!" (guess who I then left stranded in the desert on purpose by refusing to complete his sidequest :) ), and then... *immediately* forces you, as the player, to act *in the exact same way* by refusing to take no for an answer and busting through the literal floor --like... is Link supposed to be morally different here because he has a better reason than them? Is the parallel meant to be made? I don't know, but it's less about Link than about the player, and I think softening the gerudos so they can be seen in a positive light in contrast to their more warlike ancestors is an interesting conversation to have in parallel of how devoted the BotW/TotK gerudos are to make themselves as palatable as possible to hylian males (= the player).

Again: I loved the scenes involving them, I adored!!! defending the town by their side this was one of the highlights of the game for me. But... Yeah. Yeah.

It's hard not to see the gerudos gradually stripped of their cultural autonomy, presenting their hard boundaries as just a cute thing when you kind of know there was probably a war fought about that at some point (at least in part), and not think to myself that there truly might have been something worth fighting for since devoured and lost.

Do you have tips on how to write Gaara fics for people who know nothing about how politics work?

The wholesome answer is to just write your story, anon! Throw caution to the wind and just let the fic fly. Naruto is a fictional universe and therefore there are no laws, just a void in which fans can fill with theories and head canons!

But if you didn't want to fret about making things up on the fly, here are some tips:

Tip 1: Research

The boring answer is to invest in research and go down some very deep rabbit holes. Personally, when I'm writing fics that center Gaara doing Kage related work, I like to splice together present day politics along with some stuff that was common during the Meiji period (as well as some other eras), since the Naruto universe is a mash up of historical and modern day Japan. You could also pull from current events that are happening in your area...No better inspiration for writing than real life!

Tip 2: Keep explanations broad

Another tip I would suggest, if you really don't want to chase the rabbit of historical Japan and politics, it to simply just be as broad as humanly possible in your explanation, but that depends on the fic you're trying to write. If you want to try world building and offering head canons through writing as a way to explain how things work in Suna, then I'm afraid you will have to do some research - or at least be really good at making up plausible sounding explanations. If you're just trying to use political conflicts as a vessel to get the story rolling, then I would just dance around getting too in depth about any given detail.

Tip 3: Personal conflicts are easier to write than political ones

Try centering personal conflicts under the disguise of "politics." I do this a lot simply because it's much less taxing on me, but it does impact the layer of world building that a fic can offer.

Here's an example, let's say surrounding the price of iron:

It's much harder to write a story about how the price of iron went up because the minors in a fan fictional village went on strike (you would have to answer: "why?"), which then made The Land of Wind source their iron from The Land of Fire instead, but now there's a delay at the boarder because The Land of Wind is refusing to pay tariffs which have become astronomically high due to The Land of Fire having a surplus in minerals being shipped to other countries and thus making their resources more valuable. This affects Gaara's job because he's having a difficult time stocking the Suna Armory with weapons, thus impacting the amount of shinobi he can outsource for missions, as well as national defense.

This is a plausible and heavily political explanation that had many layers and explores many aspects of the world, but it's also sooo...idk...Political.

Instead, it's much easier to write a story about how the The of Wind Daimyo hiked up the price of iron because he personally invested in a new mining company, and he would like to make as much money as possible. Then you could explain how this affects Gaara's job in the very same way as the previous example.

One gives you a better idea of the world stage, while the other speaks to character motives.

Micro tip: Actual politics move at a snails pace, and the more complex the issue, the longer the process is. You can use this to your advantage (especially if you're writing a series) by researching and building up one complex political issue and having that follow you through out the fic. It's much easier to get the ball rolling and to build off something that already has the groundwork prepared, and it would be realistic for one big issue to not be swept away and resolved by Gaara simply signing a paper. It could actually be a secondary plot utilizing the "man vs society" external conflict that happens in the background in contrast to the conflicts you place in the forefront as the main action of the story.

Wait /I'm/ the fedex guy? I mean to me @/kamikothe1and0nly is the fedex guy but sure. Why not? I definitely have a lot of thoughts about them (my one single brain cell is almost constantly microwaving them), I just sometimes forget that people are aware that I exist. I apologize in advance if this gets long.

You might want to scroll through @/askdetz as well, although there's a story on there that's been going on since I want to say March? so reverse chronological might not be your friend but yeah. Good source right there. @/kale-of-the-forbidden-cities also has a fedex mermaid au so that might be another source if this post is insufficient.

For me, I think the reason I first got into it was because I liked the name. Ship it like fedex is just absolutely iconic. And also I project onto Dex. A lot. I used to have an obsession with finding 7-up trucks when I was younger so I think it was meant to be but that's up for debate.

Canonically, we see Dex and Fitz going from--I don't like to call them enemies because it was certainly one-sided on Dex's side. He was sooo mad. For reasons. Probably gay ones but he isn't aware of that. but sort of enemies--to friends. These scenes are just about the only things in the books I remember some days and we don't even get to see the one in neverseen where they agree to be friends. Nevertheless, a "enemies" to friends to lovers arc definitely is something that Is fun to play with in fics. Also this might be the aromanticism talking, but that kind of arc does require a certain amount of slowburn and I need that to believe anything.

Dex and Fitz are also foils of each other, especially in the first few books. While Fitz is perfect, Dex is the imperfect son of a bad match, and that contrast is just so, so fun.

But it's not just a case of opposites attract. Just like how kam works, they've got a whole bunch in common. We know that Fitz is the top of his class, so he is more than likely a giant nerd. We also know that Dex is a technopath (and I project onto him) so he's also more than likely a giant nerd. While they have different skill sets--I assign Dex all the stem stuff and Fitz the history and english stuff--they're absolutely going to be listening to each other infodumping about the new thing they learned this week and the listening one doesn't understand any of it. Adore that for them.

They're also angry little assholes in canon despite what fanon wants to do to Dex. Anger (especially at society) is a trait that I enjoy in my blorbos.

It's also very easy to write them to be extraordinarily oblivious to everything. And that's always fun. Fitz is going to be oblivious (even to his own feelings) as a requirement to participate in society and Dex isn't going to believe that Fitzroy Vacker knows that he exists.

And then as the brant guy I'm sure you understand how society making a relationship difficult is a fun concept and Fedex has that too. Them dating would be an automatic bad match and the fact that Fitz has to carry around his family's legacy is something I think about. A lot. Probably too much.

If you have any more specific questions just let me know. I may be forced to paint today so it might be a couple of hours before I see anything but I will answer any questions. Eventually.

appearance: im 5’7”. im a light blonde, occasionally I’ll whack some brown or hot pink through the underneath when I’m bored of the plain one colour. im v into fashion and what not but my style varies day to day. i like to experiment with it. that being said, im usually here for anything that fits in the boxes of emo or hyper feminine though, as much as they contrast one another. 🤧 i wear a lot of makeup, and i do that purely for myself lol. I hate when people say they can’t even tell I’m wearing it considering it takes me sooo long haha. i have glasses but most of the time when i go out i wear contacts.

personality: to sum it up nicely, i never ever shut up. im very loud and extroverted. (the only exception to this is if I’m tired, then i go dead quiet.) humour is a big thing for me to be able to get on with someone. i have a very very strong moral code. i have a tendency to jump straight to people’s rescue if i see something wrong and I’m told that sometimes that gets me into more trouble than it’s worth. i try to be optimistic but i can be a massively emotional drama queen so it occasionally does fail tbh. i don’t exactly like bothering people with my problems either. im a creative person first and foremost. however, i have some “theoretical” intelligence yet completely, totally lack common sense. if you believe anything to do with star signs you will not be surprised to know im a sagittarius ‘:D

i don’t think i have a specific type. im not physically affectionate with friends but definitely would be with a partner. i like someone who knows how to flirt a little, maybe? and just like someone caring because kindness is such a huge thing for me.

i draw a ton, i make ocs and stories, i’ll throw myself headfirst into any artistic hobbies at least once to try it really. also, massively into music. listening to it anyway, i can’t play any instruments or anything. i love rock / pop punk bands, i love pop & kpop, i just… love music. a lot. i do everything with my headphones.

Okay sooo I’m fully aware the answer to this might just be ‘my brain just works that way’ lol buttt: you post as you write, but surely this must have kicked you in the arse at some point. Like have you ever written anything and then later on realised it’s put you in a sticky situation plot wise but can’t change it bc it’s already posted? Or do you like extensively plan before you start to avoid that? And do you keep notes as you write to make sure you remember key details? My brain cannot comprehend how you can write a story without knowing for sure how it’s gonna end without having the flexibility of changing a few things that happen earlier in the story lol your brain is so impressive.

Lol thank you. So the answer for this actually depends on the project. Usually I know like 3/4th of the story's overall structure and what an end goal would look like it by the time I finish the first chapter. I say the first chapter because a lot of changes or ideas can come from actually stepping into a story/world for the first time. That said, sometimes I just have a few scenes (The Scene™️s) and I fill in between them as I go. It's very common for the end to be a little hazy because I need to write the scenes that will effect it first to truly understand what it needs to be.

As far as writing myself into a corner goes: yeah, GUTT lol. Still don't know what to do about that one. But usually it's only in small ways. In CotC I figured out a scene that would have made the 13th fic work better, but said scene needed to be in the 11th fic and I had already posted up through the 12th, so I just had to let that better idea go. I also added the entire visit home/Winter Fest storyline to AMLAIT after I was like 3-4 chapters in (my initial plan for that fic ended up being 20% of what its total was, with a bunch of ideas coming in the middle), so I realized that hey, Catra's birthday should have been Right at the start of the fic, and then had to condense the timeline in one or two places to make it so her birthday had Just Passed, and then I edited in a single line referencing it into the beginning to make the timeline seem more cohesive to future rereads.

I honestly prefer writing this way because it makes you get more creative (and I hate redrafting lmao), but I do typically have some kind of outline (even if it's just in my head) going into the story. If you look at the fic notes for Superzero, I put the entirety of the written outline for that fic in the Original Outline section at the bottom and it... wasn't much lol.

By contrast, Roses & Thorns I outlined extensively because I was really excited about the idea and basically infodumped it all on my friend in Discord lmao. I will say, though, from the four chapters posted so far that outline included: like three sentences describing Catra's arrival, Adora hyperfocusing on her, and Catra being catty (every single scene up until the confrontation was written off-the-cuff when I sat down to do the fic). Then I had the confrontation with Catra and the discussion in the garden heavily outlined, and then... oh yeah nothing until like chapter six lmao. All that I filled in once I started working on the fic, and in fact I wrote a couple chapters and then went back and filled in scenes to give more depth to the story and world. If I had been posting from the start I would have been really screwed when it came to adding those scenes to chapter 2 (I added stuff to 2, 4, and 5 because I had just reached five when I went back), but I kind of knew I needed that extra time with it so I held off on posting.

As far as notes: also really varies! This is my notes for R&T

the main Roses & Thorns document is a copy-pasted version of the outline I wrote for my friend with a few additional notes added in where later ideas came. The Fic Notes doc contains... the fic notes I'll post later, which I write as I go (the sub-documents there are just blank stubs for fic references or extras since this is from a template), and then this fic has a "special" notes file to keep track of all the girls on the show. It's normal for a fic to have some kind of special notes file like that, like in CotC I had one comparing different endings I could do since I had a lot of ideas. For 'the long way down' I had a special note including how I had described Eternia in previous fics so it wouldn't contradict (even though it didn't matter since none of those fics were canon). Often there will also be a separate file for some kind of detailed outline in a specific scene up ahead, but in this one it's all just in the main one. And then the cut scenes document eeeeeeeevverrryyy fic ends up with. If I decide I want to rewrite a scene, I'll save the original version there so I can go back to it if I decide it's better than my rewrite - or sometimes scenes I think might be better off going completely but aren't sure go there temporarily. I always delete those stubs at the end of a fic (or during, like after I post the chapter said scene was from or am certain the new version is better).

In general, another thing that keeps me from "needing" more notes is the fact I reread a Lot. Like right now I'm working on chapter 9, and when I sit down in the morning it's not uncommon for my to skim from the chapter before, or all the way back to the first thing I haven't posted yet (in this case, chapter five). And when I do edit something to post it (say, chapter four two days ago), I usually then read/skim through what's between there and where I need to continue writing (in that case, chapter 8) before setting off again. It helps with the flow.

Now, I'm unusually ahead on this fic because I was a decent ways into it before I started posting (I took a week off), but one thing that helps with writing into a corner is that my usual rule is still to always be a chapter ahead of what I'm posting. So if I just finished drafting chapter 3, then I'm editing and posting chapter 2. This helps me make sure the flow together, and also just lets me give my writing breathing room. Instead of immediately editing and posting three, I can take a step back from it by working on chapter two instead, go draft chapter four, and then return to chapter three for editing only after that's done so I have fresh eyes on it. I don't have a beta and this is the only way I'm able to catch as many typos as I do with my dyslexia.

That was long a kinda rambly, but hopefully that answers your question! Every fic is a little different, but this is my general idea when it comes to each project.

It’s Okay, That’s Love, 2014 (kdrama) 8.5

A psychiatrist who has issues getting intimate in her relationships meets a flirty famous author who might have a lot more issues than he lets on.

Okay, so, mixed feelings. It's very different from what I've seen before, so that's a good thing. It took me a while to get into it because I didn't like the secondary characters that much. One of them is 28 and is after a high schooler, and the other one has a whole family somewhere but lives with FL, ML, and the dude in love with the teenager-- and like? He's also in a weird relationship with his ex-wife. Maybe I can't take complex characters cause what is this man doing with his life? Or maybe that's part of the theme of this drama. What are we all doing? lmao, anyway. It's more adultish, and it deals with mental health. Zo In Sung and Gong Hyo Jin are great, their acting very natural, and their chemistry is fire. It did take me a while to end it, sooo... I don't know. I'm still not sure how to rate it. Overall good, though.

One Spring Night, 2019 (kdrama) (rewatch!) 9.5 ⭐

A librarian meets a pharmacist. She’s already in a relationship, and he has a kid outside of wedlock.

I guess this is where cultural differences collide. This drama would make absolutely no sense where I'm from. ML is a father whose girlfriend runaway after having the child... ok? Single parents (even young ones) are a common thing where I'm from. FL breaks up with her boyfriend, but he, her father, and his ex's father as well don't seem to get the memo and insist on a wedding... absolutely insane. I do get it, though. I get that in their culture, such things (maybe a little hyperbolic) happen, so I forego the cultural contrast and absolutely adore this drama. It's one of my favorites. And not just because of Jung Hae In (although, yeah, he was the reason I watched it the first time lol). The whole cast is amazing, you hate almost every man in it, but the women... the women are so worth it. Hae Ji Min is such an amazing and realistic FL. And the comfort... It's one of those cozy dramas perfect for watching every once in a while. Even the repetitive songs hit differently.

Because This is My First Life (kdrama) (rewatch!) 9

FL loses her job and on top of that doesn’t have where to live. ML wants monthly rent to keep up with his mortgage. A wedding contract ensues.

This is probably my favorite marriage contract/fake relationship drama. Also, the softest FL and ML ever. Even with their awkwardness, Jung So Min (I loooooove her) and Lee Min Ki manage to grasp you. My only two cons are the ending and one of the secondary couples. The unnecessary, always present separation between FL and ML. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn't. I feel like it might have made sense here, but at the same time it was one of the separations I hated most. Happy ending, though, so yay. I loved the girl with the bra problem and the sentimental boss, they were badass. But yeah, I hated the other secondary couple that broke up and made up over and over again. Extra notes: It was the first drama I saved music from lol.

Boys Over Flowers, 2009 (kdrama) (rewatch!) 7.5

Jan Di gets a scholarship at a rich kids' school and stands up to the F4, a group of popular guys who love to bully the shit out of everyone who they dim as bothersome.

I watched BoF when I was fourteen, and to be honest, I didn't remember much other than the fact that it wouldn't be one of those dramas I'd rewatch again. Well, let's ignore the fact that I'm here watching it again lol. I’m into 00s dramas lately, they’re kind of addictive so I had to re-check this one.

I didn’t remember Joon Pyo being so soft. I mean, still a menace to society, yes, but I think my mind got stuck with the first episodes and I low-key forgot that he actually falls for Jan Di way earlier in the drama and that he's just a caricaturized dumbass. And as for our FL, she could be a pain in the ass, but Jan Di could also be pretty fucking badass. Obviously the drama is way outdated, an adaptation from an even more outdated manga, and has a million red flags. Outside of that, I didn't think I'd be able to rewatch it. It gets extremely annoying at one point, but maybe the nostalgia won me over, and I low-key mostly enjoyed this. Extra notes: One of my favorite secondary couples/ Fuck Ji Hoo I never liked him lol.

Love in Contract, 2022 (kdrama) 8

FL works as a wife for hire. In between various clients, she’s had a consistent one for the past 5 years, a quiet and awkward man who she doesn’t know much about. Now, when she decides to retire, she has doubts about how to approach the end of their business relationship (fake marriage) with her longest and favorite husband/client.

I should stop reading drama reviews before watching them cause, unlike everyone else apparently, I enjoyed this drama a lot. Sure, it’s not perfect, but it’s far from being bad. The chemistry between Park Min Young and Go Kyung Pyo is everything. It also has an openly gay character who is possibly my new favorite character ever. It does drag at the end, but I don't think it diminishes the rating of the drama.

A Piece of Your Mind, 2020 (kdrama) 8.5

ML is trying to capture the personality of the woman he loves (but hasn’t seen in years) inside a device he invented. A classical music recording engineer ends up connecting with that same woman, and they both meet in— spoiler.

I admit I still haven’t finished this one but I’m really into it. Great story, great visuals, great OST. It’s a slow drama, but I feel like it’s meant to immerse you in its little melodrama world. It's both heartbreaking and comforting at the same time. Apparently, it has a low rating, and I can understand why it might be that way because it's a soft drama, but I absolutely adore it. Jung Hae In never disappoints. Also, Chae Soo Bin might be becoming one of my favorite Korean actresses.

Rich Man, Poor Woman, 2012 (jdrama) 8

Poor Woman is restlessly looking for a job and ends up working for the project of Rich Man’s company. Poor woman likes Rich Man. Rich Man is bratty and in serious need of social skills. However, fire chemistry ensues.

This drama was a surprise, for sure. The chemistry between the leads is amazing (old rom-com style), and the storyline itself, though sometimes focusing a little too much on the company and the partners-turned-rivals, is quite capturing. I did wish that it could concentrate a little more on the two leads and their romance since they were great together. I usually hate when dramas have their leads get together in the last episode (jdramas do this so much man) but here... well, I hated it, but it's okay cause they were cute af. (Also there’s a follow up movie apparently).

Haven't finished yet and don't know if I will ⬇️

Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, 2024 (cdrama) 8

ML falls in love at first sight with a girl in Finland. She plays billiard which is coincidentally the sport he gave up.

I have a lot of mixed feelings here because, yes, this is extremely romantic, which is what I always look for. The chemistry absolutely takes the cake, and the actors deal with it incredibly well. But... For me, love at first sight lacks substance. I rarely like it, and here, it felt like she liked him because he was good-looking and attentive (sometimes a bit too much... like back off, she's not a kid), and he liked her because... he just did. She obviously had great qualities but, yeah, I don’t know. I need a little friction to enjoy a good romantic drama. Also, it's not important, but I don't like billiards, so a lot of this was a bit boring for me. The writing felt also a bit off.

I might finish it because the characters and setting are interesting enough. Romance is cute and seems promising as well.

My Boss, 2024 (cdrama) 7

An inexperienced lawyer ends up sharing a flat with her boss after they accidentally rent the same place. Both are complete opposites.

This is actually from January, but I tried seeing if I'd be able to finish it now and still no. Back then I was looking forward to this one cause it seemed like a cute silly rom-com, but it might have been a little bit too much on the silly. The actors are okay, their chemistry is fine. I guess what really made me drop it was the writing. Which was not good... at all.

not sure about you but sometimes i feel all these back and forth arguments from the shipwar is silly. a point made about one ship can easily be applied to another and so forth. people don't like to admit it but a lot of these ships (elriel, vassien, elucien and gywnriel) have a lot in common.

from your perspective what do you think makes elucien more likely than elriel? both couples don't really know each other and all of them have issues to work through. same with gywnriel and vassien. both don't have much onpage interaction but what makes gywnriel more likely than vassien in her eyes?

Yes, that’s kind of life, if we think hard enough we can find a connection to most situations. I do think it depends on what one is arguing about though because these ships aren’t carbon copies of each other. If everyone would just focus on their own fandoms and leave others alone, no one would have to argue🙃 that I do find silly…

I agree that on one level e/riel, elucien and gwynriel are on a pretty even playing field because none of them interact much or truly know each other, disagree that vuci*n should even be factored in because there is no romantic context for them.

When you say “in her eyes”, you mean SJM? No way to know what she thinks, but I sure can tell you some of what makes me unconcerned with the possibility of elucien or gwynriel not being endgame.

SJM is a mates author, this is even more clear since hosab. Nessian being mates was unnecessary to the story yet she made them mates anyway. Until SJM gives us a main couple that breaks the pattern, I’m going assume that mates are still very important in her worlds and a signifier of endgame.

That’s kind of all I need for elucien but a couple others things stood out to me too: the retcon of Lucien being Helion’s son is a big mc/mc adjacent storyline. Him having to deal with Graysen and even his friendship with Vassa(who Elain had visions about) connects him to Elain. Both of their associations with Spring and that there are problems there(ok this one might be wishful thinking). The fact that Elain and Lucien have both been sidelined and have such a strained relationship just screams “we have a book full of development coming”. Sarah said they would have “tension, healing and growth”. If they got along, I’d be worried.

Gwynriel was less obvious but still there in acosf. SJM giving the backstory that Azriel saved Gwyn added nothing to Nesta’s story. Hybern’s soldiers destroyed several places, Azriel didn’t have to be there but he was, gee I wonder why? Gwyn having that brazen sass with the stoic shadowsinger was another thing that made me go “huh”. The little sections referencing Gwyn watching Azriel or Azriel leaving to go over dagger handling, etc: more things that weren’t needed for Nesta’s story or could have been written differently. The way that there was more of a focus on Gwyn than other side characters(we know more about what goes on in Gwyn’s mind than Elain’s right now).

Honestly though the biggest example that shows gwynriel is more likely(and therefore elucien too) is Azriel’s chapter. No, bonus chapters have no effect on the books but Azriel’s chapter was a giant freaking neon sign from Sarah telling us where these relationships are heading. Azriel’s mind told us everything we needed to know. He’s been bottling up his anger and jealousy. He wants a mate, thinks the third sister should be his because of his brothers, he feels unclean and unworthy of Elain. He hasn’t thought about a future, just pleasure with her. Azriel’s not thinking rationally. We get to the Gwyn scene and it’s light and simple, a little funny, Azriel starts feeling better, his head is clearing. He finds himself thinking of making Gwyn happy. It ends with mate language! There is a ginormous contrast between the two halves of Azriel’s chapter and honestly the way SJM went about writing it was some of her best work imo.

Sooo this was my very long way of saying that sure, when it comes down to interactions they’re all equal, but looking beyond that is where people form their opinions.

Paul is a fucked up manchild who berates his mom the second he gets supernatural powers and sees himself as better than everyone. That’s only if you can get past herbert’s awful writing where his villains gotta be fat and gay and he repeats these facts every single time they switch povs as if the audience has somehow forgotten (seriously, highlight every time herbert mentions the villain is fat. It’s so common it’s just boring stale writing). Paul in dune is the worst kinda self insert fanfic. Dune is such a shitty book girl how do you enjoy it

ohh he definetely is a man child; i feel bad for him in like the first half of the first book mainly bc hes a teenager, hes 15, like, a teenager teenager not an almost adult 17-18. he may come from a powerful family but hes just thrust into very messed up circumstances, more or less tortured to prove hes human, has to grapple with being some sort of raised-to-be-exceptional genetic experiment and being used in some weird intergalactic lie and war, and incredible amount of historical pressure and other things. like, at 15, hes more kid than adult dealing w this. but also, while being 15, he is smart, and charming to others, and he quickly rises to great infleunce and is good at manipulation. and yea the moment he gets some more power he turns it even against his own mother, against himself, and against others and the longer they go on the more insufferbale he becomes; what ground of expeptionalism in him existed gets raised tenfold -hes an inherently flaued character by all means who even when he tries he fucked up badly many times. i mean like hell, among all the shit he ends up doing, even just that thing that he himself didnt have the power to put shit in order, so he ends up forcing it on his son, like how he was shoved into a bunch of things when he was younger

and yes lol i am well aware of the villan thing. i do get that in this context the "fat" thing and even the gay pedo thing is moreso an allegory for greed and the keeping of and hoarding of precious things (im Not saying fat ppl are like this mind u, im not saying its good either, but in many cultures fat has or is indeed revered as a sign of wealth; and this is used to contrast to those who dont have, and i reckon this is where it comes from in the story). but yes, i do think thats uhh i hate this word problamatic. the fat thing, the gay thing, the pedo thing. definetely part of an ongoing issue of attaching several of those characteristics to villans, and also of making villans generally ugly, thus associsting the two together. like yup, its definitely not good

idk tho, i think. dune was written in the 1960s by a white dude. like, it doesnt suprise me that that stuff is in there. ive read plenty of things that have parts of them that are problamatic or outdated or offensive and it just,, is what it is. like idk i can enjoy something while also being aware and critical of the parts of it that are fucked up - i think if i wasnt able to, i wouldnt be able to like,,,, explore a lot of the literature that exists out there, especially older literature, no matter from where its from in the world or if its written by men or women. most of it or most authors at least have written some weird shit or held some weird shit. idk just a stupid parallel off the top of my head i love the 1001 nights stories - i grew up with them - but theyre filled to the brim with weird shit and problamatic things and sexism and racism and slavery and whatever else, like absolutely filled - to an extend they reflect the times. i still, however, enjoy reading them tho

i also dont know how much paul is a self insert - maybe. ive never read the dude as sympathetic or a sympathetic anti-hero much. i did find the idea that out of this all-female order theyd have the idea that a male would be the one w the greatest power and some sort of prophesied force of power weird, sooo idk maybe. but idk, if its a self insert i rlyyy dont think its supoosed to be a flattering one much. the dude just gets worse and worse as the books progress, and he ends up after fucking up so much and being too weak to fix it, exiled, alone, spending his last yesrs wondering in loneliness and deep regret. so, i dont think its shown that his superiority complex or anything else brought him something good; it just lead to tragedy

mostly i like the series for the intricacy of its plot and the way its introduced, the messages it tries to send even if it at times fails or does so badly. like yea, its not perfect, but it is trying to ssy something about foreign meddeling and co-opting of religions and cultures and desperste situstions, or colonialism and capitalism, of exploitation, greed, power, etc. and also in very large part its lore, its scifi elements, its weird out there mysticism, and all the parts of it that are very, very weird. i am fascinsted by the world that this dude created. im a really big fan of magical realism and to an extent the books are like this - because they start more normal and over time become more and more mystical and fantastical and weird and less grounded as more concepts, creatures, and affects of the spice are introduced. i also do like that the main character isnt an actual hero. all this talk of prophecy and whatever, but its all bad, and it goes so fucking bad. its to an extent a subversion of classical fantasy tropes, combined with space scifi.... and yes. there are times when the writing isnt great, or when its outdated, or when it hammers things again and again (like the villan thing). i also think in many places the writing is intriguing, careful, and calls for attention and contemplation of what is happening

and idk apart from something like 1001 nights..... to an extend, i feel abt dune as i feel about game of thrones. i rly love those books. yes theyre writing by an old white man. yes there are parts of them (less than the show id say) which are problamatic and outdated and i could go on a whole list about that. but, i still enjoy them. i think the world grrm martin created is insanely insanelyyy complex, beautiful, fascinating, the lore is some of the deepest and most intriguing ive ever seen, and the character writing - the sheer complexity of the characters, the willingness to show how fucked up humans are and how often things are so stupidly complicated, the way he can get us to love even insufferable characters, the way there are no perfect good heros, the broader anti-war and even climate change message, the harsh and grounded realism of much of the series,,, the way theyre also kinda like magic realism, bc over the books magic keeps coming back more and more, the world becomes more full of mystic and mystery and prophecies which arent 100% true, the way the books are largely a subversion of fantasy tropes. like, yea. theyve got issues, grrm martins writings got issues. but i think theyre brilliant in many ways at the same time 🤷‍♀️

so i guess. yea. im definitely not saying the books dont have issues or theyre perfect or theyre the peak of literature. but im still able to enjoy parts of them

Okay, time for the serious talk about the character - there are commonalities between minami and sogo, where they have backgrounds that result in them being in the public eye since young. I don't doubt they come from well-to-do families. And they have resulting issues about it... :'( Here, in part 6 Zool shares a moment of vulnerability with their new manager. Minami confesses that the past him felt he could only follow the advice and bidding of the adults around him

I had so much brainrot about him. Are his parents also people in the acting industry, or maybe there's a possibility that they are also involved in music. It seems that minami travelled abroad to North Maea to obtain musical training, and it is implied that it is a decision he himself wished for. Is it because of his passion, or because he wanted to get away from his parents' sphere of influence in Japan? And from his bday card in 2022, the portrayal is that he had musical exposure since he was a child. Was it also a parental decision to coach him in music? Since he finds freedom in music, my headcanon is that either his parents are not overly passionate about it (they are in the film industry) or they are not fans of the rebellious genre that minami likes (lol)

And even more brainrot about his student years in North Maea. What kind of person was he, and what was his social life like!! omg!! In the MV for <Never Lose My Rule>, minami was depicted as a socialite :O was he like this during schooling years too? I could imagine him going to an uppity private school. Lowkey I think he's quite misanthropic, before he met Zool

He has very mixed feelings about Haruki. He says he does not want Haruki to be seen as a virtuous man through Ryuu's stage portrayal of Haruki. He may not dislike Nagi as an individual, though I think he struggles with the perception that he was being compared to Nagi in Haruki's eyes 😟 Minami struggles with feelings of abandonment as well, and it stems from buried insecurity regarding his bond with Haruki. so I can see why he coddles for Haruka :') I would love to unravel his trauma 😍 see more of his side stories or character arc, even after the North Maea main story arc

I really like how Zool consist of imperfect individuals. They are characters with more room to grow

i dont know if you know anything about homelander, but he is a fucking nightmare!!!! probably my most problematic fave. i'm glad i haven't gotten flamed for liking him (yet), but i just find the insane atrocities he commits just... genuinely compelling. he's so fucked up but insanely complex. it's really interesting to see how he is literally just a product of society, not to get all joker on you. he was "bred" and raised to be an icon, a symbol, but he grew up trained to be a weapon rather than a caring hero... his mommy/daddy issues are funny and all what with the milk, but it HURTS sometimes. he just wants to be loved!! he wants NOTHING MORE than to be loved. he tries to convince himself over and over he doesn't need people, but fuck he just wants them all to like him but he doesn't know HOW TO PEOPLE or be LIKABLE without a script to read from or without someone holding his hang along the way. he did not ask to be like this but it's all he knows how to do............ still doesn't excuse the murder, intimidation, manipulation, or anything else he's done throughout the series. he's godawful. homelander doesn't give a fuck about the atrocities he commits either because someone will just clean it up for him. he's a raging manbaby who wouldn't know responsibility if it punched him in the face. and i love him for it. he's BEYOND fixing but honestly whatever's wrong with him is so much funnier.

funny thing is about morryear is that i really don't have a lot actually plotted for them. I JUST think they're a cute couple... mo is a lot more extroverted and a people person while buzz is more reserved. it's the adhd/autism ship of the century. mo thinks buzz's vibes are chill and likes to hang out with him, tease him a little and laugh it off, meanwhile buzz just kinda gets into his head about it like 'ahh what did he mean by that...😳' i think any real advancements made towards romance or anything beyond that would have to be done by buzz, who has a lot more confidence than mo. the tables turn when mo's laughing and being bubbly when buzz leans in for a kiss or holds his hand, INSTANTLY shy and puppydog eyed (something that also makes buzz insanely weak for mo... he's got those sad eyes so hard but they're sooo cuteee). mo's stupidity makes buzz so baffled that someone could lack so much common sense, but he finds it endearing. correcting him and watching mo get all defensive or embarrassed makes him chuckle. neither of them really think to call their relationship anything for a while... obviously insanely in love, but they're a little scared to ask each other out.. they just kinda run around being head over heels so much that it makes izzy and darby roll their eyes. buzz cares so hard for his man... mo can be irresponsible as hell and so buzz makes it his mission to make sure he's eating properly (something mo fails at) and is taken care of, as well as getting his fuckin work done. in contrast, mo likes to see buzz relax. he likes it when he gives up on that super formal attitude and demasks and can be vulnerable in front of him, be a little silly and show mo a side of himself that he hardly lets see the light of day. he's clearly just.. so yearnful for tenderness and softness since his life is usually so hectic and military, mo likes being able to be there and help him relax. especially when buzz is an extra cuddly mood!! you know mo is so touchy.

Who has watched/reviews: 

@avawatson: okay, so upon first watch, I absolutely loved the main character/actor but didn’t love the second male lead, Kurosawa, and wasn't sure if it was a chemistry thing or the actor’s just not my type. But I’d definitely say watch it for very rich fic fodder, and prepare for it being a bit slow; imagine Adachi as ace and the story makes more sense and feels more fulfilling imo. And on second watch, I liked Kurosawa sooo much more, thankfully! And it was so fun to watch with others. Very sweet and slow; consent and intimacy is incremental and back and forth, which feels really common in Japanese media but might be a new experience for some.

E: it was okay! Pretty slow and tame, disappointingly G rated

T: loved this, I didn’t have a problem with seeing chemistry. The G rating is a little disappointing but I found the story charming and delightfully angst-free, which is a refreshing change.

Becca: This is my favorite Japanese BL series! It’s fanciful, low-conflict, full of likeable characters. The characters are kind to each other, improve their communication, and grow as people. For a show that is literally about having--or NOT having sex-- there is only the tenderest of handholding and a tantalizing glimpse of a chaste kiss. Somehow, that makes it all the sweeter. In contrast to many other Japanese BL shows, there’s no weird power dynamic or troubling non-con. 

TD: very cute. I could have done without the entire b-side relationship about the one guy's best friend and the delivery boy, but those scenes are easily skipped. The main couple is absolutely wonderful. I really liked Kurosawa, personally. Lots of fun moments-- I decided to watch the show after seeing a gif of Adachi getting hit by an elevator door lol. I wasn't expecting much in terms of kissing going in, so I didn't mind the G rating. It was just really refreshing to see two adults being respectful and caring and willing to take things as slow as needed, which seems like a low bar but that's the BL genre in general. I liked that Adachi tried not to invade privacy as much as possible with his power. And happy ending, yay! 

Tricky: I found it cute! I enjoyed it but I didn't need it to be any longer than it was. It felt very cartoony at times, like they translated the manga directly to the live action. I would recommend watching it just for the pure soul-nourishing medicine of Kurosawa's domestic fantasies. And for Kurosawa in shirtsleeves and a vest, can't complain about that! Also the concept is just so good for AUs for any other fandom/pairing you will ever encounter, so it's good to have it under your belt. :-)

@porcupine-girl This was almost painfully cute! I had to stop now and then because it was just overwhelming how adorable they are. I agree with TDKeh that I don't love the side pairing, but Adachi and Kurosawa 😍 And I love how it skirts close to some tiresome tropes but then sidesteps them entirely, like it's saying out loud "nope, don't need to go there, thanks." A quick watch, too. I hope the movie is available internationally soon.

NCT Dream Birth Charts x Hexaco Results Analysis pt. 1

recently NCT Dream were on a new reality show called Mental Training Camp where they are doing a variety of activities and all of their behavior and interactions are being analyzed by professional psychologists.

ofc my virgo sun mercury ass was thrilled and I had their birth charts pulled up the whole time to cross reference.

I wanted to share some of my personal thoughts on how the 2 might connect!

Mark - “Workaholic Leader”

✨leo sun // aries moon // cancer mercury // virgo venus // scorpio mars✨

they described him as a workaholic leader but quickly added that if he’s not now, he has potential to be in the future, although it seemed they all agreed he has workaholic spirit now 

this immediately made sense to me when you look at his chart i mean he’s being driven by a fire sun and moon and a scorpio mars (used to be ruled by mars) and virgo venus both of which are signs that have strong work ethics

the reason I like that they mentioned he could grow into it is because he’s still young and I agree that his placements could become more serious about work and life as he gets older, I think his leo sun/aries moon combo gives him very youthful energy but they’re still very driven signs

mark agreed that even throughout his trainee years when he was still very young, he was always practicing and was always called a workaholic. I see this in the intense drive, work ethic and perfectionism of virgo and scorpio but shining through with the warmth of his sun and moon

lets talk about this hexaco chart, what sticks out the most is Mark’s level of conscientiousness! (its so high like what even-) Conscientious people are careful, precise, detail oriented and in general care about doing their tasks well. I think this is directly connected to his scorpio mars! I always say that no matter what is in a chart, having a scorpio in big 6 will always have a strong influence and with a virgo venus, even though venus is considered a love planet it is also our value system, how we discern what is worthy and unworthy for us, and having virgo there makes him very practical. (as I mentioned though I think all of his placements together reflect a very driven person) (I also think mark is lucky to have a fire moon because if he had a water or earth I think his obsession and perfectionism of scorpio and virgo would make him d*pressed or too hard on himself) 

his virgo venus could even be why when they did the bag check they saw he’s quite “frugal” or practical and minimalist in the things he carries around. When you think about Venus, I mentioned it’s our values it’s also our aesthetics and it rules Taurus a materialistic sign, having virgo there gives me the impression of someone who is practical with their belongings, as we saw. 

We’ll see later in the post that there are a few Hexaco charts that I felt were a little unexpected but Marks imo was sooo spot on with his placements. With a fire sun and moon he’s very warm and open and has firey emotions. he’s not afraid to show them or be reactive and responsive (emotionality)! I think his honesty-humility reflects this too, he’s not too overly or underly honest, he’s just straightforward what you see is what you get and he answers in such a way too. His emotionality reflects the cancer mercury, the rashness of aries moon, and sensitivity of scorpio mars. 

tdlr; the human embodiment of driven, focused and hard working when it comes to his craft, but he loves to have fun in his outside life, and is practical in his inside life <3 his hexaco and birth chart align nicely

Jeno - “A scholar who gets hurt easily”

so right off the bat I’m very curious where the scholar part comes in ?? They didn’t really reference it again in that way but I’m assuming they mean he’s very diplomatic? Defcon rephrased it as “you get miffed but well-mannered” 

a recurring comment was that he gets annoyed easily but doesn’t show it, I thought that was really funny because I feel like it reflects his aries influence well; being a little hot-headed but he has the patience of his taurus sun and mars to filter it :’) 

they talked a lot about how he gets hurt easily and mark even shared a cute lil story that practically had me on the floor because i just think it shows his taurus sooooo much I’d really love to have his house placements one day I’m really curious where his taurus is

if you didn’t see the episode basically mark said one time Jeno was passing some seniors in a building and said hi but they didn’t say hi back ): and just ignored him. Mark said Jeno was really hurt by that and went on about it for a long time saying stuff like “I’m sure they saw me” )): but he never expressed/acted on that hurt. taurus is represented by the bull so they do have a fierce side to them but imo i think taurus can be a really gentle/relaxed sign too; taurus mars is a slow to be angry slow to react placement, and one of the things taurus is well-known for is being fixed, stubborn, holding grudges which explains why that moment hurt and he held on to it. Jeno even agreed he tends to hold in a lot of his feelings and remembers little things that hurt him for a long time!

speaking of his taurus... they had a whole baseball analogy for the group saying that Jeno is a strong catcher, you can have a good pitcher but without a strong catcher the team would fall apart. They also mentioned a lot about Jeno not being in the spotlight, he doesn’t stand out, but he silently strengthens the team. And if that isn’t the most taurus description you’ve ever heard.,,,

I’ve been talking about his taurus a lot but at one point they said Jeno has a strong perfectionist side but he’s also very flexible and it’s difficult to have both. I personally see this a lot in his Sag moon (mutable) in contrast to his taurus placements (fixed). Sag moon to me always seem happy go lucky, if emotions come they go quickly too, mutable gives him that flexibility because they just like when things can change freely. It’s ruled by jupiter and I feel a common theme with sag in big 6 is it’s easy for people to be drawn to their jupiter qualities. They give the same freedom they crave, they can be very easy going and positive. Similar to mark, I also think it helps Jeno to have this moon sign over another! 

as for the hexaco, I’ll be honest the level of introvertness/shyness was a little surprising from an astrology stand point. When we see Jeno in all the NCT content I feel like it’s obvious he is on the shy side but if I was looking at only his chart, I don’t think I was expect it to be to the extent of the hexaco chart! (plss i need his birth time) in the same thread, his emotionality is really low and I can’t say I’m surprised from an astrology view😅 it’s not that he’s not compassionate or anything because he does care a lot about not upsetting people, but as we saw he is not very reactive and receptive emotionally ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  his openness is low too which fits what we’ve talked about above about his lack of reaction/expression of emotions, I feel like sag moons also don’t dwell especially with no water placements. 

The honesty and humility makes a lot of sense to me because i feel like taurus, aries and sag(!) are very righteous signs too! They care about integrity, they certainly might have their own idea of what is truth,.. but whatever it is, they believe in it! 

last note I want to make is on the whole “jeno isn’t funny” bit since they mentioned it. He said it hurt his ego when they first started the joke but it’s been going on for so long that I think he adapted to being able to take it as just that, a joke! It’s also funny to me that it started in the first place because earth signs are often called boring (it’s okay I’m an earth sign too lol) and I also have sag influence and I know people find me quite funny but I never try to be funny and it usually comes after my earth walls are down with close friends. 

tdlr; doesn’t ask or need spot light, gets annoyed easily but it doesn’t last, when something does hurt he remembers, slow or unlikely to be reactive and responsive, positive, comfort creature, loyal🥺

Chenle - “Friendly Guardian”

✨Sagittarius sun // Aquarius moon // scorpio mercury // scorpio venus // aquarius mars✨

there is something about chenle’s personality that I’ve always loved, he comes off as very warm, care-free, curious, friendly, caring. I like the personality title they gave him because I think it sums him up well. The members had all laughed when they saw it and enthusiastically agreed.  I also love his hexaco chart and think it reflects him really well, with most of it being just outside of the average :’) as far as how it reflects his birth chart, let’s get into it

I do want to disclaim that Chenle was born on the sag/scorpio cusp and to be a sag he would have had to be born after 3pm (!) but I think we would all agree he’s definitely a sagittarius sun anyways

Before this show when I watch nct dream content it always fascinated me how easy going chenle was in chaotic situations, he never seems too demanding or controlling, and sometimes i wondered if he was holding back for the cameras and was actually really frustrated but based off the hexaco it seems like he is actually just that agreeable, from looking at just his chart I don’t know if I would have guessed his agreeableness was that far. I know sag suns can be very easy going and aquarius is a more chilled sign but he has 2 aquarius and 2 scorpio placements they’re both fixed signs and quite like to be in control😅 (can we get a birth time pls) 

One argument could be the combination of sag sun with aquarius moon, since we have to look at all of it together. it does give me the impression of someone more easy-going possibly because there is the comfort of confidence! I feel like sag sun/aqua moon + mars would give someone a high opinion of themself (go chenle). this combination could create someone who is easy going because they don’t dwell and aren’t emotionally fueled nor do they fret over people that are. I’d say easy-going or maybe even just cool headed? He’s always laughing things off too, showing he doesn’t take himself too seriously! 

Speaking of taking things seriously, I think we can see this in the conscientious part of the hexaco, it was the lowest and I think it can be explained by what I mentioned above. It’s not that he isn’t driven or doesn’t work hard, he’s a full time idol they all work hard but I think it represents that work isn’t the focus of his life but rather people, connection, community, and just being happy is? 

they talked about how Chenle is the type of person that you meet and already feel like you’re friends. He could be the youngest in the room and talk down to you and you wouldn’t even think twice. This is huuuuge aquarius energy! I remember one of the first things I learned about aquarius was that they make friends everywhere. They talk to a stranger on the street for directions and next thing you know they’re “friends”

I also want to add that they mention he’s friendly but he gives off “big brother vibes” i feel like we’ve all seen that in other nct content too and would agree. This is interesting to me because sag and aquarius is not the same kind of friendliness as we see with marks leo sun aries moon. Leo and aries are “younger” signs, whereas aquas and sagittarius are towards the end of the signs, they’re considered “mature” signs which I feel contributes to chenle’s “big brother” energy. He has that aqua/sag energy where he seems really sure of himself, and wise and people look up to that.

I want to talk about his scorpio placements real quick because even though I just made a case for how open and easy-going he is, I’m still confused about how the scorpio fits into all of this. scorpio isn’t known to be one to be super open, agreeable or extroverted. I personally see his scorpio come out a lot in his realtionships. you can tell he cares deeply for his members and yes his aqua makes him get along with everyone but I feel like with the dream members we see that scorpio possessiveness and jealousy come out more. Lastly, I do want to add a little mystery to this, although his openness is high and it’s clear he is a very authentic person,,.. I definitely would not call him an open book👀

Chenle wasn’t able to be in the recording of this show unfortunately so all we got was a brief description of his hexaco chart and we won’t get any further analyses ): 

although I do agree that his hexaco chart reflects how he comes off in shows, I don’t think it completely reflects his chart so I’m going to say the house placements would help create a better picture! 

tdlr; fun and realtionships are a priority, he’s comfortable and confident in himself and people are drawn to that, v friendly😌but he has secrets👀

Humor and the influence of Mercury

Hi! In this article,I will talk about some of my notes about humor in the signs of Mercury.My observations are based on the natal charts of friends,relatives,and famous comedians.

1)Many of my favorite stand-up artists have Mercury in Sagittarius.Mercury is responsible for our thinking,communication,and sometimes our voice.Sagittarius is famous for a broad outlook,so their jokes affect every area of life,they never get hung up on one thing,they tend to change topics often and you won't even notice it.Also this sign tends to add jokes to every situation and it's really funny.

2)Mercury in Capricorn makes cruel jokes.Not everyone will understand their humor,but this is their advantage.They tend to make jokes about themselves and other people.A huge amount of sarcasm and banter.Quite harsh statements and the truth.They rarely laugh at their own jokes,they prefer to watch the reactions of others.Very often it has its own unusual style of jokes or communication.

3)Mercury in Cancer is famous for its strange humor.OMG,they have such a sweet and gentle voice that when they swear it's so funny.They usually have a pleasant and quiet laugh.Comedians with this position often paused in jokes or told with a very strange intonation,which is why they are popular,because people remember them.No matter how stereotypical it may sound,but often they start a monologue with the phrase " I've been thinking/Do you know what the most offensive thing is?".They take topics that they care about,it can be social problems or funny stories from life.

4)Mercury in Taurus jokes logically.They have really intelligent jokes,I don't even always understand them.They have such a nice voice...In contrast to Sagittarius their topics smoothly flow from one to the other.They usually end with the sharpest joke.They often choose situations from life for jokes.They don’t have a specific style,so their speech is remembered only by jokes,and not by the manner of speech.

5)In general,Mercury in Leo rarely jokes,usually he laughs a lot.They carefully monitor the reaction of others to their jokes,otherwise they will feel uncomfortable for the rest of their lives.They rarely joke about themselves,but they have a sense of humor.I want to devote special attention to their charisma,people like to listen to them so much, as if they are a magnet.Oh yeah,they also like to joke that they're narcissistic(or they're not kidding ahahaha)In any case,people laugh with their jokes due to their artistry and frankness.

6)I thought about Mercury in Virgo for a long time,because this is the strongest position of Mercury and the weakest(in my opinion)for a humorist.I often notice in my life that people in this position rarely laugh at jokes because they don't understand them.Their humor is much more complex and intelligent than that of Mercury in Taurus.They are good at normal communication,business conferences or discussions,but not in jokes.

7)Mercury in Aries jokes as spontaneously as Mercury in Sagittarius,but from Aries you hear the craziest jokes.They like black humor,they like to send memes to everyone.Aries has charisma,but not as strong as Leo.By the way,they are very funny swear and angry ahaha.They love sarcasm and often joke about themselves.

8)Mercury in Gemini is famous for its funny life stories.Their ass will always find adventure.They rarely use sarcasm,but they like intellectual humor.I noticed that they are very emotional telling all the jokes,which makes people laugh even more.They are very fun and interesting.If you are bored,then call Mercury in Gemini.

9)People love Mercury's emotions in Libra,especially when they are surprised,they are like 0_0 ahahaha.They sooo love to joke about themselves,like Gemini they have a lot of funny stories,but for some reason they rarely tell them.They have no boundaries they joke,they can even joke about death(once my friend with Mercury in Libra joked about the fact that she is late even for her own funeral)They are well gesticulated and have a stylistic intonation.

10)Mercury in Scorpio is the king of black humor.They also like to make vulgar jokes(sorry for the stereotypes,but it's true).Sometimes they even tend to go too far.They parody people well.Their humor is somewhat reminiscent of Capricorn,it is also sharp and sarcastic.I noticed that they often roll their eyes or tell jokes with an emotionless face for effect.They like to laugh with their own jokes.

11)Mercury in Aquarius understands all memes,not even his own country.I have not met a famous comedian with this position,so this sign is not common in humor.Why did I so often see them drop or break something at the most inopportune moment and it was very funny?By the way,in every company this sign has its own jokes.This is one of the friendliest signs,so their humor is rarely sarcastic.They like comedies,stand-ups,but they rarely joke.

12)I can say little about Mercury in Pisces,for they are the least joking of all the signs of the zodiac.They are very insecure jokes, usually laughing only at themselves.They like to listen to others rather than speak for themselves.However,this does not mean that they are boring.They just don't want to joke,that's all.
