almost done with house s5 here are my little thoughts that i need to share:

expected to just feel generally ambivalent towards house/cuddy but i think i actually care more abt them more than the writers did lmao.

speaking of: not a fan of the way their dynamic has shifted! do not like seeing cuddy put herself out there over and over again just for house to make a joke out of it or insult/objectify her bc he's too scared to love her to her face...personally like them best when it feels like they're equally matched and sparring as a form of flirting. like i know house being an emotionally unavailable asshole is the whole thing but this isn't even a fun kind of toxic i just feel bad for her 😭

the mosquito episode is good though. house standing outside her door and watching her just to go home makes me insane. more of house quietly pining over his boss who's too good for him and torturing himself about it THANKS

roadtrip dad funeral episode AMAZING. no notes .

this show does not get enough credit for how ominous it is. there is so much foreshadowing at literally any given moment. lord.

wilson and cuddy's relationship is so FUN i love my co-haters in chief. my schemers. it's really cute how wilson looks out for her and takes care of her and clearly has a lil crush on her but they aren't making a big deal out of it rn. very sweet!

i know it was 2009, like i was there, but i am so mad at the intersex episode for setting thirteen up like that. it would have been so cool if the episode was actually about her queer identity and she got to connect with this intersex kid on that level without the big twist that She Was Wrong, Actually.

feel like wilson/house/cuddy ot3 would be so funny and interesting in theory but tbh i just want better for cuddy at this point. world's goofiest love triangle tho like at that point you might as well.

i knew kutner killed himself from when i watched as a kid but i did not remember that it happened off screen or that there was literally NO explaination. I kind of love it? it felt very true to like. how that stuff happens a lot of the time and how the aftermath feels and idk. i know it was more about kal going to work for obama but the fact that kutner felt underdeveloped kind of lent itself well to the episode. we know very little about the guy beyond that he's Kind of Like House and had a sad life, and then before we even get to know who he actually is he's gone, and that's haunting! kind of nailed what must have been a tough exit to write for.

i wish i cared more about cameron and chase but they're cute...miss them

genuinely had a lot of contradicting feelings about amber and her death altho the implications are. implicating. so it's nice to see her Literally haunting the narrative...we'll see. i'm just glad they took her out of the fridge :)

shoot forgot to ask earlier, but what does despair kaito do? and what do maki and him do together? (honestly just fishing for more maki info, but thought i'd ask about kaito too)

Huzzah someone finally asked about Kaito! I designed him the same night I did Maki, but it didn’t feel right to just shove him into her bit, and no one’s asked about him since lol.

Kaitos personality would stay largely the same, he’d be upbeat, encouraging, and happy, but some of the pregame personality would bleed through in him wanting to just kill as many people as he possibly could, thus spreading despair to others and himself!

A lot of his relationships with the other v3 kiddos would likely stay the same too, he’d still consider Suichi and Maki his sidekicks (Maki likely closer to a partner, they spend the most time together), him and Kaede are like despair cheerleaders for the rest of the remnants lol, and he’d definitely still butt heads with Kokichi.

Those two have a little bit different of a dynamic, because thanks to the despair they’re both equally invested in irritating and being a dick to the other, so it’s less just ‘Kokichi annoys Kaito for shits and giggles’ and more ‘Kaito and Kokichi are in a constant back and forth game of trading insults and pranks between one another’. Miu helped facilitate one time they had a giant robot battle that leveled a large metropolitan area. The collateral damage was insane (and the main point of the activity) and both boys had a great time.

I’m trying so desperately to pin down what Kaito and Maki’s relationship would be like lol, I know they’re dating as much as anyone in despair can be. But the actual dynamic is alluding me. I think something fairly Bonnie and Clyde like? They’d probably be kinda mean to each other, despair and all that, but I don’t think there’d be too much physical violence between the two of them. Neither of them likes seeing the other upset or in pain, but because of the despair I think they’d constantly be egging each other on to do worse and worse things.

Kaito! He’s a hero right? Well all good heroes need a suit! And maybe if the suit he’s parading around in is the goofiest thing I could think of, well that embarrassment will turn to despair really quickly lol.

It’s clear from the everything about Kaito that he wants to be seen as this super cool and brave leader, so having to wear an outfit that just makes him seem ridiculous (the underwear on the outside really seals the deal) would give him a lot of despair from being the butt of the joke.

Honestly I just went ham giving him the most ridiculous golden age of comics spandex super suit possible. All the stars glow in the dark too so he’s definitely not great on stealth mission (tbh he wouldn’t be good on those anyway this man is Loud)

being in a relationship with akaashi is quite literally the most gratifying thing

he’s 97% of your wise decision making and you’re very much thankful for that

when he first met you he honestly didn’t know what to think

there’s not a single doubt that he was crushing on you H A R D

when you sent that everyone else in the chat was just so frickin ecstatic because now that you’ve confirmed you were going, it’s obvious that akaashi was now too

he arrived like 2 minutes early from the designated time and the way it wasn’t at all shocking when no one else arrived except for you

you: hey at least now we have a list of people to take revenge on when the purge strikes

it’s okay though because the two of you make most of the night anyways !!

you never thought sitting outside of a 7/11 at 7 pm on a friday could be fun but as you sat there with boba tea and a ramen cup with one of your closest friends next to you, you were just !!!! so frickin soft

akaashi on the other hand didn’t feel anything but utter nervousness the whole time

it was so cold under the night sky and you were so close to him, he’s praying that you take the redness on his cheeks from the weather and not from the rapid racing of his heart

he’s so nervous because it actually was an ideal time to tell you how much he liked you

plus he’s pretty sure that you were eventually gonna notice just how often he glanced at you whenever you came to their practices or in general

whenever you go out with him to shop for anything at all, he always has to be the person in front when you walk because he’s the one pushing the cart with his left hand while his right is tightly interlocked with yours

you just stray behind him, pointing out all the things you’d like and he’s the one who decides if it’s worth to buy because you’re absolutely sure that you’d be dead broke if you were left alone

akaashi: this hoodie looks cute, do you wanna try it out

you, recalling the four sweatshirts you haven’t returned to him: nah i have enough

sometimes you’d get in the cart whenever the grocery store you’re in is mega big and he’s just gonna have the most unbothered face as people eye him because he’s pushing a fucking cart with a person in it

you’d get worried though thinking that you’re too heavy for him to push around so you insist to get off but he just doesn’t let you because you were so cute and 😤

akaashi is just so frickin soft when it comes to you like most of the time when someone idly mentions your name a smile immediately comes up to his face and he doesn’t even realize it

he also almost always wake up to numerous snaps of you at 3 in the morning just doing the most random things

he’s a salty little shit who complains 24/7 and that’s about as canon as it gets

BUT but !!! if there’s anything tsukishima is good at and i mean anything !!! it’s being observant and keen on the people around him !!! ESP TO YOU !!!

at first you were always just kinda there ?

like he noticed your presence cause you shared classes with him and you were also at his practices a lot cause you and kiyoko would walk home together

so he knew of you but didn’t really know know you, yk?

but then one day yamaguchi came to him introducing you because apparently he’s the only one left on the team who hasn’t met you and it may or may not be because you were low key scared of him

it’s all good though cause once you two shook hands and talked he became more open to actually including you in his life

you guys made out to be good friends considering that you balanced out his snarky attitude with your even worse comebacks

like they weren’t really all that clever but it’s annoying enough to get him to shut up when you want him to

everyone on the team was super surprised at the fact that you were able to talk to tsukishima like that but also they were like: “please don’t ever stop???”

so you became from someone he barely realized was there to always looking for you first when he enters a room

yamaguchi: you know some people would call that having a crush 😗

and he’s all confused cause he knew that the possibility of him getting through high school without having a crush was very slim but jesus christ a crush on YOU??

tsukki, internally: god has favorites and it is not me 💔

but when he gets over the idea that it’s completely revolting to like you like that he realizes something click and suddenly it wasn’t an annoying idea to see you romantically

so in full tsukishima style he asks you out and was pretty surprised when you said yes but you weren’t cause he wasn’t even mildly subtle at hiding his intentions

you: does this mean you won’t be mean to me anymore 🥺

tsukki: no but that’s a nice try ❤️

even when the two of you started dating, he didn’t really want anything to change cause he liked the dynamic he had with you

he was very relieved that you weren’t easily offended and you didn’t really get on his nerves a lot

you guys were hot heads but you also respected each other 🥺

something you quickly became accustomed to after dating though is being codependent when it came to sleeping

you’re usually always over at each other’s houses and his mom is totally over the moon at the fact that his son found someone like you

so every afternoon after school you two are at either houses and just chilling and vibing because school do be very tiring tho

most of the time naps happen and even if it is super hot outside and you’re on the verge of a heat stroke, you just can’t get comfortable unless you’re touching him yk?

so it’s 2 am and neither of you can fall asleep and it’s just an entire frenzy of tiring yourselves out

the two of you end up facetiming and just talking endlessly about random thoughts and perspectives on people

his voice is 100% groggy and every 2 minutes he’s yawning but he really likes it when he’s talking to you because it’s always better when it’s you in the mix

he’s telling you all about how he thinks dinosaurs are super cool and fantastic that when he realizes you’ve fallen asleep he’s just like 🥺

he stares at the screen for a while, suddenly regretting that he wasn’t there to make sure you were comfortable

he’s got the softest smile on and he doesn’t even care that he’s staring at you while you’re asleep cause you just looked so peaceful and warm and sweet

tsukki: that’s my baby 🥺

he feels another yawn come up and he ends the call, hoping that the tone won’t wake you up when he does

at this point he’s also on the verge of falling asleep and he’s very glad that he talked to you because you always knew how to get him out of things like this

Ok so mama bloom didn't fall off the wagon which is good. I do hope Gina makes another appearance this season and the circumstances are on a more positive side.

I enjoy how lauren and Leyla work together, and can have a working relationship where they disagree. Leyla is honestly such a calming presence in Lauren's life and the way she called her out on how she was treating her own mother was a great scene(please gif it).

Lastly, lauren we know you are turned on by everything Leyla does. Lol!

SHE DIDN'T! i liked that too and hope the writers bring her back sooner than later because there's still so much to unpack there between them (like i get that she was in pain but also she coped by becoming an alcholic and making her 7 year old kid clean up after her passed out body for a decade on top of all kinds of neglect). plus leyla helped out her future mother in law when no doctors for the last 30 years believed her so she's already on her good side.

i was sleuthing on twitter a bit while the episode aired and it's interesting to me how many people were focused on the lack of leyla comforting lauren scene. don't get me wrong, my sappy ass would have loved to cry over that too and while i think that would have been a nice cherry on top, the more interesting and important dynamic that that writers have been emphasizing is leyla's confidence to go toe to toe with lauren professionally. i know technically leyla's her resident but they're honestly equals and that's important to establish because as we can see from the story, being a doctor is a very crucial piece to who they are as individuals. it's a job and responsibility they take very seriously. tbh had this been the reverse situation, i think lauren would be right in leyla's shoes. advocating to make sure she, as a doctor, rules out all medical possibilities before assuming the worst.

but she's not just a doctor here. she's a daughter who carries a lot of very real and very valid pain and trauma that her mom put her through and that understandably clouds her judgement. and /that's/ leyla's point. she understands lauren is hurt and as her girlfriend, i'm sure she wanted to comfort her. after all, mama bloom said some insanely hurtful and untrue things that leyla knows first hand is horrendously wrong. but, and i really really liked the wording here, leyla is on /duty/. she has to separate being leyla shinwari, lauren bloom's girlfriend and dr. leyla shinwari right now because she's in this hospital and entrusted with the expectation and responsibility to provide her patients her best care and efforts. every one of them. so when she goes to reason with lauren, her approach is to appeal to lauren as a doctor. about the care she's providing or well, more like actively stopping leyla from providing. had lauren looked at the tests seriously and provided sound reasons as to why she thought there wasn't a medical issue, i think leyla would have been receptive. but the fact is, she didn't. and leyla's point was further proven because when lauren did actually look at the scans, she was able to diagnosis what the problem was. which btw i love that we once again got to see lauren and leyla tag team diagnosing. we love a talented power couple.

personally, i like that we're getting to see the different dynamics and layers of their relationship. of course we know that they can be just the goofiest dorks in love and sweet and comforting emotional supports for each other but they can also work together professionally. cause wasn't that one of the things we were all wondering? how can they balance 'hard out there and soft in here with me'? they're showing it. they showed it in a humorous way in 4x03 and now they're showing it in a more grounded situation, by being truthful and anchoring when the other needs it. even if it's hard to hear sometimes. even when the lines between personal and professional get a little blurred because you were just put through the emotional meat grinder and some comfort from your girlfriend who's within arms reach would be nice. plus it's not like leyla is adverse to comforting lauren when they're at work when it's appropriate. their opening scene was lauren angry at fuentes cutting her ED budget and leyla comforting her there by switching conversation to focus on them. look, as much as lauren respects leyla as a doctor, leyla holds just as much respect for lauren in return. it's how she knows lauren is better than this and can tell her so bluntly. it's why leyla wants to get lauren's eyes, as a doctor, on her mother's scans..... also she knows lauren is as hard headed as a damn wrecking ball going through a building so she needs a couple of knocks to understand a point sometimes.

tldr; leyla knows, loves, lauren so much she knows when to say what lauren needs to hear, not what she wants and they're stronger for it.

Capricorn : Alright my dear fellows, time to give the Goat some appreciation time. Of course one of my best friends is a Cap, because between goats, we understand each other. While it would be difficult to find the good parts of my Cap personality, it is so much easier with this friend. Caps are reliable and loyal, the friendships we offer is made of iron, and we rarely break them, unless we feel truly betrayed or used. ANA YOU’RE THE TRUE MVP!!! You’re spoiling me tbh (not that I mind tho). This got super long so I’ll put it under a read more

What universe is this set in? I have no idea, all I care about is that everyone is happy and alive

They go to an amusement park (because Dazai insisted until everyone else relented)

This is Atsushi first time hanging out with Oda and Ango, and the first time he’s talking to them after he and Dazai started dating. Boy is NERVOUS

Dazai greets Ango and Oda by saying “Hey, you two, meet my cute boyfriend!” and Atsushi blushes up to the tip of his ears

Oda has to tell Dazai to not tease Atsushi too much at least 15 times

Also Oda innocently comments that Atsushi, who overdressed in his desperation to look presentable to the other two, “looks like a pop star”. Dazai keeps laughing at the face Atsushi makes at that

Ango has always liked Atsushi because he’s often the only sane one in the room, and he actually scolds Dazai for his shenanigans, unlike some people

And Oda, well, he gets along with basically everyone. Despite how nervous Atsushi was to hold a conversation with him, he rapidly finds himself relaxing bc Odasaku is just that easy to talk to

Atsushi can definitely see why Dazai is so fond of Oda

(Basically all four of them get along really nicely or else I’ll die)

They go to the haunted house, and the reactions between the couples is VERY different

Ango is extremely unimpressed. Oda seems interested, but not all that scared either. Ango: “Are you using this as an excuse to be closer?” Oda, who has a hand on Ango’s waist: “No.”

Meanwhile Atsushi is about to climb into Dazai’s arm in one single leap from how he keeps jumping and clutching Dazai tighter every single time he’s scared. Dazai thinks it’s super endearing.

“Atsushi-kun, what’s that in the shadows?” “OHGOD” cue Atsushi using Dazai as a shield and hiding his face on his back. Dazai has a very smug smile on his face

Ango is rolling his eyes at them, but Oda thinks it’s sweet.

Then they decide to go to a roller coaster and now Ango is the one about to die. He hates it, but he goes anyways for Odasaku’s sake. He keeps his eyes closed the entire time.

Oda has to touch his arm and tell him they stopped already at the end, and Ango hides his irritation (and embarrassment) as Dazai keeps teasing him over it.

Ango and Oda sit out the next attraction because Ango is nauseous. When Atsushi and Dazai come back, they find Ango with his head on Oda’s shoulder, talking in hushed voices. Atsushi tries to hold him back, but nothing can stop Dazai from throwing himself at the both of them

On the topic of physical closeness, their dynamic is quite different. Dazatsu are still new to their relationship, and they’re still at the giddy, honeymoon stage of it; every touch is charged and Atsushi will blush a lot, while Dazai tests what’s okay and what isn’t for him to do.

But for odango, they have been together for over a year now, so they’re more mellow about it. They have a very casual closeness to them, shoulders brushing, leaning into each other’s space with ease, guiding each other somewhere with a hand on the hip or by gently holding pinkies or middle and index fingers

Atsushi sees Oda join arms with Ango and asks Dazai if they can do the same (they end up holing hands instead)

Also, at the end they all take a picture together in a photo booth, and it’s the goofiest thing ever, but they’re all smiling and having a good time :’))

They end up going home earlier than initially thought tho bc Dazai was feeling sick from all the cotton candy he ate
