Rating KNY characters on how well they can play rhythm games!: Upper Moon Edition!

This came to me in a vision and I must share!

Kokushibo 0/10

Kokushibo can kill. He can slay hordes of demon hunters without breaking a sweat. Put a tablet in front of him? He's done.

In battle, he's quick on his feet and a fast thinker. But something about the bright shapes flying across the screen got him pressing them three years after they pass, even with six eyes.

It's a challenge to get him to even play. Saying that human games are trivial to him and does not wish to partake. Will probably get a few seconds into the song before quitting.

"This is pointless. Goodbye."

Douma 9/10

Scarily good. After the initial "shock" of seeing a tablet, Douma is clearing songs with ease.

He's got a good sense of rhythm and can keep up with the notes. He prefers games with female casts as well. They're just nicer to look at in his words.

Scratches the screen of your tablet with those nails of his. Be cautious when using it after he's done with it, you might cut yourself on the glass.

That is if you can get it out of Douma's grasp. This screen is so interesting, you can't just take it away!

"Hey, I'm still using it... Come on, just one more song!"

Akaza 2/10

He can keep up well enough, but his sense of rhythm outside of fighting is awful. He's too focused on trying to hit the buttons that he can't keep up with the beat.

Akaza will get frustrated very quickly. He'll keep trying as he keeps getting mad. Saying he'll beat the next one. He's not stopping until he beats a song, or until your tablet is in pieces. Whichever comes first.

You can offer to put the game on an easier setting, but he wants to play on an even harder setting, just to prove he's better than a scrap of metal. It's a never ending cycle of frustration.

"No! I don't need it to be easier! You know what? Make it harder. I'll show you!"

Hantengu 0/10

(Might include clones in a different post)

Bad all around. No sense of rhythm and can't keep up with the notes. Hantengu gets angry to the point of tears, which makes it even harder for him to play. Didn't even want to try at first.

While he's quick in battle, he's still an old man from the Taisho Era. The bright, flashing graphics of the game overwhelm him and he just can't focus on one thing.

Another one to scratch the screen with his nails. He'd press down hard too, leaving pretty deep scratches.

Gets too frustrated and rage quits, not even finishing a song.

"I-I don't want to do this anymore!"

Nakime 9/10

Amazing sense of rhythm and can keep up with the notes like a seasoned player. Not a fan of most of the song choices. She's a fan of traditional sounds. Modern day pop, electronic, etc. is not for her.

It's a challenge to get her to play as well. She doesn't acknowledge your asking for a while. You really gotta pester her if you want her to play.

Nakime is skilled with her biwa even with her nails. She gets a bonus point for not scratching the life out of your tablet.

"Fine...I will try your music game."

Gyokko 5/10

Thinks he's above anything you'd have to offer, even if it was from modern times. You'll have to really butter him up for him to even think about playing.

With multiple hands comes quick reflexes and the abilities to do multiple things at once. He's able to keep up with the rhythm and notes with ease.

Gyokko is docked points because he'd just be bitching the whole time. Saying how ugly the art and graphics are or how he finds the music/vocals grating against his ears. Overall allergic to fun.

"How childish! Makes sense that someone like you could be so distracted with flashing colors."

Daki 3/10

She would actually be good at the game if she didn't throw a tantrum every time she lost her combo. She has a good eye and sense of rhythm, but gets too in her head about playing. Takes forever to pick a song.

Daki would throw your tablet across the room or slam it into the floor in a fit of rage, don't expect to get it back in one piece.

There's two reactions depending on how well you play. If she doesn't like you all that much, she blow up on you in an act of jealousy. If she does like you, she begging you to tell her how to get better.

"Wah! This is stupid! I clicked that note! I hate this!"

Gyutaro 0/10

Gyutaro doesn't even want to entertain the thought of him playing such a stupid game. He says that he has much better things to do. In the small chance you do get him to play, he sucks.

His lack of skills brings an onslaught of self deprecation. Groaning about he can't even play some dumb human game.

Doesn't scratch the screen too bad but he does scratch himself, leaving bloody stains all over the tablet.

"Nehhh, I can't even keep up. How pitiful..."

Kaigaku 2/10

Proudly boasts about how well he could play and how he could beat any score you could manage to get. Is promptly humbled the second the song starts.

Kaigaku would want to play on the hardest difficulty, but gets mad when he misses a note.

His stubbornness doesn't allow him to quit. He's going to keep playing until he can get a full combo. Don't tell him that all perfect combos exist, you'll never see him again.

"Stop trying to take it from me! I'm not done yet!"

๋࣭⭑ Devlog 37 | 1.29.24 ๋࣭⭑

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hope the holiday season and the new year have been treating you all well <3 I've been hard at work this past month to get the revamped demo out to you all soon, so let's jump right into things ^^

This past month, most of my writing has been focused on the revamped demo, finishing Etza's first draft, and Druk's developmental edits.

The revamped demo is FINISHED w writing edits!!!! That honestly took way more time than I thought, but because I wrote the demo basically two years ago at this point, a lot of my writing style has changed. So while some people might think it is an unnecessary time sink, it was important for me to rewrite the scenes I could so that it felt like it accurately portrayed how the routes are looking. And, because my writing skills are better than basically 0, which is where I was starting when I first wrote the demo, I can better write a script that's closer to my vision of the game.

....So THAT ended up taking a while!!! BUT I finished that this month, which was a huge accomplishment to me and I feel much happier with the Alaris script than before, where I kinda... well, hated it. LOL

In-Game Sneak Peek: New Choices HEHEHE

Etza's draft is making good progress. I'm JUST ABOUT done with their first draft YAY!!! As I mentioned before, writing for the full game routes will be a bit slower for now since I'm now balancing more game stages than before (like coding, sprites, etc.). But I was pretty happy with Etza's progress this month since it does feel like the finish line is pretty close for their first draft ^^

And then Druk's edits are just about wrapping up!! Wudgey and I have been having lots of fun with Druk's route, and it's shaped up to be a personal favorite just because of how enjoyable the editing process has been, so I hope you all are excited for it!

For art, I've gotten some more backgrounds commissioned from Vui for the full game. I also decided to update the prologue art for the demo and commissioned dear friend @saffein-e for some prologue art and..... WELL..... SHE'S STUNNING. I'll let the prologue preview speak for itself HEH

In-Game Preview: New Prologue feat. New Art and Fade-in Text Effect

I'm so happy with it, and in general seeing the demo come together with all the new assets has been RRRRGGGHHH!!!!! I've coded most of the screens by now, but I don't want to show them all quite yet. I'll show one preview of the new communicator screens.

First is the texting screen, and then I also updated the phone call screen! The sprites now not only emote (kinda like video call vibes), but they also auto-highlight based on who is talking!

Most of my miscellaneous stuff has to do with coding the demo. I've been doing a LOT of backend coding to make the game more polished. First is the example above with the communicator phone call feature. Without getting too into coding jargon, it basically is like a new version of the normal sprites so that it feels more interactive, with seeing the characters emote while talking to you, and has the auto-highlight function so that it is clear who is talking during a phone call!

I'm adding more camera work to the demo, more vfx/sfx to make things more immersive, and overall just adding a lot of polish to the game. It's been a lot of work, since it's involved adding alternative textboxes, cleaning up old code, revamping things (like sprites and other images), etc. But it's been worth it to see everything come together!

For market research, I didn't do anything this past month. I DID play Date with Death in December and had massive brainrot from it. In fact, I made two fanarts of little Grimmy LMFAOOOO.

World of Tanks: Wenclair Edition. I.E Enid fat shames a Tank.

Enid: Hi Wends! (Waving at her with a controller in her hands) Wednesday: What are you doing? Enid: I'm playing World of Tanks, Yoko got me into it, i'm not really good but it's fun! I know this week has been stressful do you wanna sit and chill with me? (Giving Wednesday puppy dog eyes.)

Wednesday: Hmm i will admit this week has been stressful, but in an hour it will be my writing time. I will stay until then. Enid: Yay!

(Spongebob French accent announcer dude) Two hours later...

Wednesday: (Gripping the back of Enid's chair tightly, braids askew with stress) Enid you know you cannot penetrate an 0-I with a KV-1's 85mm, are you insane? Retreat damn it.

Enid: I know i'm sorry! But this tank is so damn big and slow!

Wednesday: (With narrowed eyes) Oh so you're fat shaming the tank now? Enid: Well it is!

Wednesday: (Leaning in and pointing) Flank him, flank him! The O-I's armour is weaker on the side! Enid: I know but his tank is too frigging big! Wednesday: So you're fat shaming HIS tank now?

Enid: (Growling) I'll do more than fat shame it!

Wednesday: (Growing hot) (Muttering) Oh mi amore... (Enid's bright purple and blue camo KV-1 blows up after another shot failed to penetrate it's armour.)

Wednesday: Wednesday: Give me that infernal control device. Enid: (Growling possessively) Get your own Addams!

Wednesday: (Narrowed eyes) I'll show you Sinclair...

(Spongebob French accent announcer dude) One week later...

(Yoko and Divina's dorm)

Yoko: Uh you're not gonna be break my Xbox are you?

Wednesday: Of course not, I learned everything about programming this past week.

Yoko: Oh okay, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.

Wednesday: (Muttering) I'm gonna show that stupid blonde pink and blue wolf... (Slaps plug into the wall with more force that needed)

Yoko: Wait what do i even get out of this?

Wednesday: A hacked version of the game with every tank. Now both of you be quiet I need to concentrate. I have hacked this console so that when i am logged into the game on this new account i will be dragged into every lobby that Enid enters.

(A loading screen appears showing the map, objective and finally loads in showing Wednesday's tank. A jet black O-I)

Wednesday: Oh and wherever she is on the map.

(Enid's bright blue and purple KV-1 pop's into view as she comes into range)

Wednesday: (Smirking) Ah there you are Sinclair...

(Enid fires a shot from her tank, the shot bounces off harmlessly.)

Wednesday: Oh my sweet Enid, you never learn.

(Enid starts to retreat as Wednesday advances)

Yoko: (Look at Divina with shock) (Mouthing incredulously) My sweet Enid...? (Divina merely shrugs but her smile is beaming)

Wednesday: (Smirk growing wider) And so the wolf has become the prey.

(Wednesday proceeds to fire a shell roughly every thirty seconds at Enid's KV-1 with absolute glee vs every four seconds from Enid's KV-1, every shot bouncing off. Until Enid's tank is nothing but a smouldering wreck and out of the match.) Yoko: (Whispering conspiratorially to Divina although Wednesday can hear it too) Do you think Enid knows?

OH FUCK YOU WEDNESDAY ADDAMS!!!

Divina: (Snorting) Oh she knows.

(Wednesday's username? HowdySinclair)

(The door bangs open, it swings all the way round before banging into the wall. Standing in the doorway is one Enid Sinclair, her hair is ruffled and hanging down in her face, her chest is heaving with anger.

Enid: (Growling) I'm going to kill you! (Pointing a clawed hand at her)

Wednesday: (Smugly and Smirking) Funny, my tank seems to be perfectly intact and undamaged.

(Enid lets out a ferocious roar and charges the Addams heir, tackling her onto the bed, there was a moment of shocked silence, eyes moving rapidly between both girls before Wednesday closes the gap between them with a blurring speed and pressing need, capturing the angry werewolf's lips with her own. The werewolf is growling as she deepens the kiss, sliding effortlessly into Wednesday's lap, arms wrapping around her possessively and biting down on Wednesday's lip)

Yoko:

Divina:

Yoko: I can't even with these two anymore.

Divina: It's sweet.

Yoko: It's disgusting and it's on my bed!

Wednesday: (Breaking away, even more smugly) Still want to kill me? Enid: (With a snarl and growl) Shut up!

Wednesday: (Smirking) Make me Sinclair.

(Enid is the one this time to aggressively kiss the seer. Effectively shutting her up.)

Graphics tutorial requested by anonymous

All made with adobe photoshop 2023 (you can find free downloads of cracked versions on here occasionally, photopea.com is also good I've heard) I'm assuming basic knowledge of photoshop/similar editing platforms and their tools, but you can always message me or comment if you are confused about anything!

Also, I used keyboard shortcuts sometimes to change the size of a brush or toggle the brush options, I'm not going to annotate this because it's a lot but here is a resource for basic photoshop keyboard shortcuts

Firstly, the sizing of your edit matters! Max sizing for best quality on Tumblr is 1280 x 1920. If you want to put to put two images next to each other sizing should be 640 x 960.

Next, always try to find the highest quality picture of whatever you're using. Good resources include taylorpictures.net, 4k Taylor Swift, and if I can't find them here I do a google image search of my photo to see if any other websites have a bigger/hq file.

This video is a couple clips I screen recorded for you to see my process and demonstrate a few different tools I use regularly. I added timestamps for you to follow along as you read the rest of this.

Here's a photo of my workspace I am working with and what I will do first is cut out Taylor from this photo and move her to my correctly sized canvas. There are multiple ways to cut out an image in photoshop, the easiest I've found is the select subject function and using the quick selection tool (see toolbar beneath the photo). Other tools include the magic wand tool, lasso tool, and quick selection tool which I will show later.

Now you will see that my selection isn't perfect, so I will use the quick selection tool to fix a few areas that I'd like to manually select/correct. This isn't totally necessary at this stage as you can always perfect your cutout in the next few steps, but it does help save some time.

This is where I'll use the quick selection tool to either subtract or add to my selection. There are keyboard shortcuts to toggle between + and - to make this quicker.

Now that we have our image selected and cut out, I copy and paste it to my canvas I want to work with (size 1280 x 1920) and this is what I've got:

As you can see there's a few spots that need cleaning up in order to make our cutout perfect. You can do this with the eraser tool, magic wand, quick selection, or lasso tool.

Now that we're happy with our cutout, we can play around with it in any ways we want! Typically you're gonna do things like change the background color/texture, add elements with the square/circle tool to create what you're looking for, overlay elements and/or textures, and finally recolor it to your preferences.

This part is where you can try new techniques and play around to find what you like. I recorded some of my process of playing with different ideas and elements until I got to something I was happy with! The video explains the tools I was using as well

I hope this helps you with creating graphics in the future! The fun thing about photoshop is there are multiple ways to get what you want done. I showed you my way but there's plenty of other techniques and methods out there to try if you're unable to achieve what you want!

Basic Adjustment Layers For Dummies <3

— as written by a dummy.

welcome to photopea for dummies, eos’ series on the website we all know and… “love”… photopea! if you don’t know what photopea is, it’s a free alternative to photoshop that can be used in your browser!

in any case, today we’re going to be discussing the average editor’s lifeblood: adjustment layers.

we’re not going to discuss all of the adjustment layers, as there’s about seventeen and some are much more complicated than others. for the sake of time, i’ll just be talking about some of the basic adjustment layers.

brightness/contrast

brightness/contrast is the first of the adjustment layers found in the drop-down menu (layers > new adjustment layer > brightness/contrast) and is fairly easy to use and understand.

as the name implies, brightness/contrast gives you two sliders—one that controls brightness, one for contrast. the contrast slider goes from -100 (low contrast) to 100 (high contrast.) the brightness slider goes from -150 (low brightness) to 150 (high brightness.)

this layer may seem fairly rudimentary, but makes a good foundation for all edits and can help set the tone of your entire psd.

— author’s note: if you need a quick way to make an image very bright, make a brightness/contrast layer and, without touching the sliders, set the blending mode to screen. then adjust the opacity as needed. it works well for a quick lighting fix, when you need one.

vibrance

vibrance is the fifth layer down in the drop-down menu, and marks the beginning of the category i like to call the color adjusters. i have no idea what the actual name is, so don’t ask.

similar to brightness/contrast, vibrance has two sliders: vibrance and saturation. vibrance is a lighter version of saturation—while saturation affects all the pixels of an image, vibrance tends to be much more targeted.

the vibrance and saturation sliders both range from -100 (least colorful) to 100 (most colorful.) it’s important to note that you should only knock saturation down to -100 if you want a grayscale image. i usually only push the saturation slider between the -30 to 30 range, but that’s just personal preference—mess around and see what works for you.

— author’s note: a fun trick to use is to mimic what i did in the image above: set the vibrance very high and the saturation in the negatives. it gives the image a nice pop.

photo filter

one of my personal favorites, photo filter is the eighth layer down in the drop-down menu. photo filter is a good way to collect your colors when they’ve splattered all over the place.

photo filter is a bit different than the layers we’ve looked at so far—it only has one slider, the intensity slider, which goes from 0 to 100, and has a small square above this slider. the square is where you select your color—click it and mess with the slider, or type in a memorized hex code if you’re some kind of color wizard.

most people have a general color palette in mind when making a psd, i’d like to think. photo filter helps to regulate these colors. if your psd is looking warmer than you’d like it to, a low level photo filter in #5b82a7 or #604db5 can help to cool it down. if your psd is looking too green, a low level photo filter in #af65c2 or #4a1a80 can do the trick. forgive me, but you’re going to want your color wheel for this layer. it’s easy to utilize, though!

— author’s note: a cool trick i like to use is to set photo filter’s density at 100 and get a pale grey like #eaeaea. it’s an easy way to desaturate your image without eating all of your colors. you can find this layer—or something very close to it—on virtually all of my psds.

threshold

ah, threshold. the best friend of every tumblr editor. threshold is fourteenth from the top in your drop-down menu, and is fairly simple to use. threshold has one slider, ranging from 1 to 255, and can be a little alarming if you don’t know what you’re looking at.

one of these days i’ll cover blending modes, but for now just know that when you’re trying to get a shadowy effect, it’s best to use darken, multiply, or darker color. threshold is an extreme contrast layer that breaks images into the whites and blacks. it’s commonly used to get a nice shadowy effect—you do this by setting it to multiply or darken.

the slider can be played with at your discretion; i typically have threshold as my first layer, and set it between 40-80, but it depends on the image.

— author’s note: i’ve also seen some people set threshold to soft light for real life images. i don’t typically work with these, and personally i don’t enjoy the look, but remember that nothing is set in stone—feel free to play with blending modes as much as you want!

and there you have it! some of the basic adjustment layers. i hope you have a greater understanding of photopea now, or at the very least a greater understand of my lack of ability to explain things. see you next time!

Today was your birthday and you couldn’t be more excited. You enjoyed your birthdays a lot since it gave you an excuse to let loose and have fun. This year made it a tit more special because you had a "situationship." You’ve been in this situation with none other than Harry. Unfortunately, although you’re developed a crush on him, you knew it couldn’t be more. He was a famous sex magnet for crying out loud. He had beautiful women over him all the time leaving you on the side at his disposal when he wanted. You guys talked almost every day, becoming friends. Unfortunately, you were only able to see him when he came around to this small town. You both had mutual friends which is now you guys met in the first place. You instantly clicked and couldn’t help but talk for hours.it sucked that he travelled a lot which is one of the reasons why you guys were what you were.

You were currently sitting on your couch when your phone started ringing. Your face lit up seeing Harry’s name pop up on the screen. You calmed down a bit and answered the FaceTime call. Soon your screen showed Harry’s face. “There’s the birthday girl”, the says flashing you a smile, his dimples showing. Gosh you loved those dimples. “Hey. How are you?”, you say watching his soft pink lips. Those same lips that trace your body and kissed your skin all over when he came around. You instantly looked at his expression change on the screen. “I have bad news princess", he says making your heart break a bit. You knew what was coming. He wasn’t gonna make it today for your birthday. “You won’t be coming?", you aak him, your face faltering. His silence confirmed your suspicions. “Sorry princess. You know how much I wanted to be there on your special day”, he says sadly. You felt a pang hit your chest, the urge to cry becoming a bit overwhelming. You sucked it up and plastered a fake smile on your face. “It's alright Harry. I understand that you’re busy. I have to go though”, you say, your voice breaking a bit. “Y/N”, he starts to say but you hang up before he could continue.

You let the tears spill down your face as the sadness overtook your body. Of course, he wasn’t going to show. He was busy with his own shit and didn’t have the time to come see you.at the end of the day you were just someone he fucked when he came along.at the time you agreed since you wanted to have fun but now your feelings for him grew stronger and stronger. You took a deep breath and wiped your tears away. You got up and headed to your best friends’ house to meet her and go shopping for your outfit for tonight. “Bitch! Are you ready for tonight?", the exclaims dragging you to the store. “A bit”, you say looking through the racks of dresses. “Uh you don’t sound excited, she says as she sticks her head in between the dresses. “He’s not coming”, you tell her, your voice breaking again. She engulfed you in a tight hug not asking you anymore questions.

After finding the perfect dress, you went back to her house to get ready. You didn’t know what the plans were for tonight. All you knew was that you had to get dolled up and get ready to party. Earlier this month you had mentioned that you didn’t want to go to the club. One, it was because you kind of outgrew the nice. Secondly, you mainly did it because of Harry. He is famous after all and you didn’t want your special day ruined due to paparazzi. Duce to this, you were nervous yet excited for tonight's events. After getting dressed, you looked at yourself in the mirror and you looked hot as fuck. “Okay now its time to go y/n but unfortunately I have to blindfold you”, she says. Before you could say anything she put a scarf over your eyes making everything go dark.

Somehow, we got into her car and Che drove us to our destination. It felt like a short ride because soon we were at the destination. “Were here!”, she says excitedly. She got out and opened your door. She grabbed your hand and led led you inside.it was silent...too silent for it to be a club. “Okay. I’m going to take the blindfold off but keep your eyes closed, okay?”, she says. “Okay”, you reply nervously. You felt her hands untie the blindfold and kept your eyes closed. You still saw darkness through your eyelids. You hear a switch go off and you see brightness through your lids. Your hands were sweaty from the nerves building up. “Okay, open”, she says and you quickly opened your eyes. "Surprise!!", everyone yelled making you smile widely. “Oh, my goodness guys!”, you say as your closest friends gathered around you engulfing you in a group hug.

“Let’s get this party started!", your best friend says, an eruption of cheers and claps surrounding you. The DJ started playing and people started dancing. You couldn’t help but look around the unfamiliar home.it was not any one of your friend group’s places, you knew that for a fact. So, who’s place could this be? Before you could question it, your best friend dragged you to bar instantly giving you shots left and right. As the night went by, you let loose and starting dancing. Happy Sunday and thank you @coffeegleek for the tag (how the turns have tabled) and a thanks back to @wellbelesbian.

Do you see this bespoke banner? The title "Sonic Sunday" is by @ivelovedhimthroughworse and while I was looking that up, I realised staff flagged this entire blog as mature content. I literally complain all the time about how I do not know what sexy times are and yet...

Anyway, Tumblr fuckery aside, I claimed a fic for the Caught on Tape Podfic fest. It was a brash decision, because I have zero (0) experiences with the podfic world. I've uhhh never even listened to one so feel free to send recommendations. The things is that, to this day, I still read English text out loud. That's partially how I learnt English. And then I always give characters voices etc. so I thought: "Why not try this?" and also the mods said the fest was open for everyone. I was a bit worried, since I don't own a microphone or anything, but it's all in good fun. I did contribute, like, 5 lines to the Dalton Audiobook, but that's it. (And my chapters haven't been posted yet.) But the list of fics of this fest is absolutely phenomenal and I even had to stop myself from claiming multiple and I told myself to keep it around 1K fics, but damn. I already looked up how to pronounce Telemachus, but how the shit do you pronounce Swithin???

So I decided to try to podfic my own fics, just as some sort of equipment test. I only have a phone, after all. I originally wanted to try my hand at My rose-coloured boy, since that's my shortest CO fic, but again, this is a try out, so I picked my shortest fic on AO3, which happens to be my Klaine fic called The Moon fic, with a whopping 49 words. You'd think that a 16 second podfic would be a fucking cakewalk but I am at my parents' house and I recorded this in secret to avoid telling them that I was reading a fic about fictional homosexuals on the moon so I didn't have a second screen aka I did this whole 49 words fic from memory and even though it's literally only 49 words, I did 10 takes cause I kept messing up the text. I guess I will also have to learn how to edit and shit, since the fic I claimed is just over 1K.

Anyway, don't care too much about the quality of me reading out loud. That's not what this test was for. But how does it sound? I did read some tips in the Discord about maybe recording underneath a blanket or in a closet, so I might redo it from there just to see how it looks.

appreciating the unique quirks of the many PSP models

Someone posted a picture of a PSP ad from back in the day, and it inspired me to crack my brain open and dump a buncha knowledge of mine into this here post!

So, let's talk PSP's!

This here is my PSP, or at least the one that survived long enough to be considered that. It's the vibrant blue PSP 3000, which was the last revision of the PSP that stuck to the original design. Speaking of designs, lets jump right into breaking down the several major PSP redesigns!

First, you've got the PSP 1000, the eldest

This particular one in a very sleek white :0

Now the PSP 1000 is real good. Unlike a lot of launch edition consoles, they pretty much had it down from the get go. All the basic bits and bobs you expect in a PSP are in here, with the only special characteristics of the 1000 being its heft.

That's right, the PSP 1000 is chunky! I do not say this to make fun, however, because the extra weight makes the 1000 really comfortable to hold. Look, without being too crass, the PSP has a massive ass- I mean look at this size comparison!!

I AM ACTUALLY JEALOUS OF A VIDEO GAME DEVICES ASS- WHAT??

ahem- Point is, the PSP's extra heft gave it... I hesitate to use the term love handles but- WHY CAN'T I BE NORMAL ABOUT THIS WE'RE MOVING ON

to the PSP 2000!

In a delightful blue! Similar to mine, but not as pretty :P

The PSP 2000 is notable for a couple reasons. Mainly because it introduced the new skinnier form factor that they pretty much stuck with for the rest of the consoles run (until they radically changed the entire design, but I'm not going there today).

The slim design is alright. While I'm no proponent of unrealistic body goals, I can see why they shed some of the PSP's pounds. The dumpy made it a little less than ideal in the pocket, and the console was also much lighter to boot. I mean it too! The PSP dropped from 280 grams to 189. That's 91 grams lighter!

The real great thing about the PSP 2000 though is that it's around this time that Sony decided to whip out the crayons and start going wild with the colors.

There were simple, yet elegant colors, like Lavender and Mint Green

But more interestingly, we started to see more multicolored themed PSP's, like...

This sleek Gundam one

This beautiful Monster Hunter one

And, last but not least, The Simpsons one!!!

Awww yeah! The wide array of color options was certainly not unique to the PSP as far as handheld consoles go, but I'm such a freakazoid for this design- I can't get over how cute all these different PSP's are.

Whenever I see all the different colored PSP's, I imagine an eclectic group of people riding the Yamanote line, with the one connective link between them being the fact that they're passing the time during their train ride by dinking around with a PSP. You might even be able to tell at a passing glance something about the persons character as you notice the color they chose, or maybe you're just looking too far into it. After all, what would somebody tell about you, rocking your Simpsons PSP. That you like the Simpsons? That you like the Simpsons enough to have committed to staring at a Simpsons themed device every day on the train? Is that something you feel you should base your entire identity around? in Tokyo, Japan circa 2006? ...The answer is sure, why not! The Simpsons rules!

And so does the PSP 3000!

In a silver that reminds me James Bonds car... Oddly specific, that one

Now, I'm putting a lot of faith in you right now to spot any kind of difference between this device, and the last device. To be fair, I was putting a lot of faith in you to spot any kind of difference between the last device and the first device- but I digress.

I think the majority of people would agree that the 3000 is the best PSP. It's basically the 2000, only with a WAY better screen. The contrast between light and dark is much better, the colors are more vibrant and vivid, the awful ghosting effect from previous models is all but gone- it's wonderful!

And no, I didn't mention the ghosting effect in talking about the previous models, and that's mostly because well- have you seen what the competitions screens were like at the time?

It's like I'm playing a video game in a Zach Snyder movie...

Yeah- the standards were low as heck, which makes the PSP 3000 that much more impressive! It really is a nice looking screen even still, and I speak on good authority because, well, this was the model PSP I owned and used for years!

As previously established, I owned the Vibrant Blue 3000, but there were tons of other fun colors too!

You had, as before, simple but elegant colors like Blossum Pink and White Blue

but also the SUPER fun themed ones, which started to get cool as heck with the 3000!

You've got the Hatsune Miku one, of course

ok this one is sorta underwhelming, tbh

don't know who I was quoting- but the gold highlights- AAAAA

And there was even a One Piece themed PSP!

Which also happens to look quite similar to the MonHun one! Just with less class (sorry luffy)

At the end of the whole PSP lifecycle we wound up with so many unique colors and variants that just collecting the different colors of all the different PSP's could be entire decade long endeavors in it of themselves! I'd like to say that one day I could own them all but likeeeee-

I think student loans will probably prohibit me from ever being so frivolous, though it's fun to dream!

or is it depressing...

In any case, that wraps up my PSP worship appreciation post for now!

Keen PSP appreciators may have noticed my failure to mention the PSP GO or the PSP Street. I am aware of those 2 revisions, but I chose not to include them because:

1. I've never seen either of them in the flesh before, so I have no personal experience with them and thus couldn't confidently speak on their ergonomics or screen quality

2. They only had 2 colors each, which is lame and not fun!

and 3. It's 3 AM and I have to get up early tomorrow- I kinda wrote this all on a whim because I saw someone post a picture of a PSP and it put my brain in hyperdrive

slashed extras

Vlad's so sneaky he phases right through furniture.

I had a lot of fun working on the slashed challenge. I was going through some old edits today and found these and I kinda wanted to show how those renders looked before I put them together - I didn't use cutouts for the vampires, but instead imported their models into blender, set their base color to black, specularity to 0, and I made sure to attach an emission map for the eyes. Almost all of them were completely posed in blender before rendering, except for Lily, Lou, and Aubrey. This made it possible to have the shadows physically interacting with the scene (such as Vlad playing guitar with Jacob). Using matte black models meant that when the images rendered, they did look like flat shadows. They blend in completely with a black background, so I was able to decide which parts of the shadows to show by adjusting the red background rectangles.

Sidenote - I really need to color balance my monitors. I've been using my boyfriend's 3-monitor setup for blender and photo editing, and each screen looks completely different from the others and none of them looks like what I see on my iphone/macbook. This makes overlays really hard to get right - the texture on Rory's edit is almost completely invisible on the main monitor and prominent enough to obscure details on the second monitor. I think the best I can do is try to match my laptop, or else just go back to doing all of my photo editing there.

today, i watched 'saw V', and i actually REALLY LIKED IT IT WAS GREAT ‼️‼️

firstly, the story here is actually quite simple once you cross the hurdles of not being able to tell hoffman and strahm apart (had to look down at the neck area to check for the bandage whenever a black haired white man appeared on screen), and piece together the timeline yourself - though after a good few flashbacks i was able to make sense of what was going on. the plot revolving around the 5 stuck in the trap was reminiscent of saw II but still very unique and interesting - their hostility towards each other which subsequently led to their deaths was also pretty cool, and i like how if they had worked together, they would've survived.

while the ending twist was something that was kinda obvious about 10 minutes before it was revealed, i still :0'd when the theme started playing because the ending coffin/walls closing in trap was super cool! in fact all the traps here are solid - my favorites being of course the final hoffman/strahm doomed yaoi trap and the murderer guy's trap from the beginning. the gore here is also great - i really like the look of the intestines practical effect (at least i think it's practical effects) that they've been using. the aftermath of the blood box trap with the split apart arms was also gross and cool. the editing also holds up now - still silly and overdramatic as ever, but the sound effects that they've been using (like the pig squeal when kramer and hoffman attack the barbed wire trap guy/phil) are really fun. the colors in this movie are also genuinely gorgeous and set the tone and atmosphere of the scenes amazingly.

the saw series of course is still suffering from its convolutedness which is worsening with each chapter. sometimes i really have no clue what's going on - that being said, sometimes they'll express the obvious (like with strahm stating everything he found out which we just saw) which feels a little patronising. even so, this movie was a lot more enjoyable and engaging than IV. i can't believe it took a recession for saw to git gud again. 3.7/5, toxic yaoi not as good as the classic bathroom boys but still an admirable attempt. saw VI, pretty please show us what was in jill's box and also where gordon is. thx ��🏿

taking a .5 picture of the brothers

a/n: idea stemmed from my oc ship and was too funny not to write about also I promise my next body of work will be an event post I just need to write what my brain thinks of first <3

warnings: not proofread all the way

who doesn't like a little fun? As you were cleaning your room you stumbled upon your human world phone. Forgetting the task at hand you mindlessly scrolled through every app and photo you had and remembered a .5 picture you took and laughed at the memory. You didn't have data down here to do a lot of things on your phone but who was gonna stop you from taking pictures of the brothers????

mammon: this lovable insufferable man was looking for attention from you and thought that's what he was getting, not a camera shoved in his face and at the worst angle imaginable! most likely said something along the lines of “Oi! No free flash photography from The Great Mammon! No photo of me taken like that is gonna sell!!!” “Here let me show you how it’s done.” then proceeds to mansplain how to take a picture AND at the right angle AND his angle none the less AND THEN gives you a run down of how much you need to sell these for and how you’re gonna split the money with him. When you tell him what .5 pictures are and show him some the girl boss in him and demon in him can picture one, how much the brothers fan clubs would go crazy over some new content and two, how if he didn't sell them right away he could always use the pictures as blackmail in the near near near future. So with the idea in motion he left you to find his brothers... completely forgetting you have a .5 picture of him you could use yourself

asmo: you would have to basically be on your hands and knees BEGGING asmo for a .5 . i know for a fact this man micro manages everything especially his pictures, they have to be the best of the best all edited the same way to fit his aesthetic devilgram nothing ugly or silly. BUT because asmo loves you he wouldn’t be opposed to it you would just have to promise NO ONE IN EXISTENCE ever sees that photo!!! so finding him in his room you beg for a picture and he agrees, semi easy to work with but in exchange you have show him how to take them because as much as that angle is hideous, it was very fun and he would love to have pictures like that just for his eyes only…

beel: finding beel wasn’t hard. he was in the kitchen cooking with levi though levi seemed to do all the cooking and beel looked like he combust at any moment. when asking to take a .5 he doesn’t understand and thinks it’s a new trend asmo taught you but nonchalantly agrees, what you didn't plan for is how you’re gonna take the picture because beel’s like 6′0 so prepare to stand on some chairs or a countertop or you can kiss that photo goodbye. he thinks it’s weird but as long as your happy and giggling he’s content to do anything for you

levi: he was recreating some food he saw in an anime hence beel watching him like a hawk so he wasn't really focused on you. not until he turns around to get something and sees you on the counter taking a odd picture of his brother and laughing does his curiosity get the better of him. two ways this could go 1, he sees how much you and beel are having and gets jealous enough to join in or 2, seeing as you were taking pictures and laughing he could get insecure real quick and won’t want a phone near him. but for the sake of the headcanon we’re using one. he completely forgets cooking and shyly asks what you’re doing, when you tell him your taking .5 pictures of everyone and show him ones he starts laughing and comments on everyones especially mammons but is timid to get his own picture taken. why you may ask well that forehead of his will take up the entire screen!!! I feel like he'd be way more comfortable if you included others into the picture just as a warmup and then when he sees how fun it is he’ll allow you to take one of him alone. he enjoys it so much that he asks his mutuals to take .5s and send them in there group chat YES LEVI HAS MUTALS CLAIMING THAT NOW

satan: reading outside in the garden as always so it wasn't that hard to find him though you saw some random cats purring and walking around him definitely putting him in good mood. good mood plus cats? you know your getting that picture but before you come any closer with that camera you absolutely must take some pictures of satan and the cats so he can remember this moment for life priority’s mc priority’s… anyways satan would ask so many questions before like “why would you wanna take a photo like this? what’s it’s purpose?” or “by any chance mc could you take a picture of lucifer like this??… no i’m not gonna put it on a billboard and humiliate him” just like lucifer you can’t show this to anyone he’s not embarrassed by it but if lucifer were to see the HoL wouldn’t be standing anymore. while you’re taking pictures he does understand the fun in it and takes some .5 of the cats but instead of laughing his heart just melted by the cuteness rip satan…

belphie: this could go either two ways, one you find him and get the photo quick because he doesn't care and sees you’re happy with whatever you just did or, two its gonna take centuries because he's sleeping in the weirdest position so you can’t take the photo. If he's walking around thank the devil because nows your only chance to get it and with everyone else he's so confused why you’re taking a picture of him that close but when your laughing and smiling he's not gonna argue with you just take your weird picture with no context and go about your guys day, catch him sleeping? rip he's not getting up anytime soon he's curled up with every blanket in the HoL and pillows surround him like a barrier for whatever reason. if you wake him up when he's drowsy and confused with the angle right? you just hit the jackpot, that photo will be shown by everyone and I mean everyone it was too funny not to keep it hidden away!!! don’t wake him up and you won’t get a good picture there's too much stuff around him and with him laying down you’re gonna have to sit on him and do a lot of moving around. i suggest its not worth it tbh...

lucifer: three words, good freaking luck. lucifer would never let you take a .5 . you’re too nice to all his brothers you could send that picture to any one of them and he’d have you killed and everyone who’s seen it. satan and belphie could easily have that picture and do who knows what but it would be pure humiliation on lucifer’s part and the more he thinks about it the more he needs a drink in one hand and mammons head to squeeze in the other. you knew he would be in his office doing paperwork, heading towards the man in question you slyly asked him and as you expected he declined saying nonsense like “you know how I don't like others taking pictures of me.” or “did one of my brothers put you up to this? You know what I'm going to say...” come on this is lucifer but you know he loves you from the celestial realm and back so as long as you beg enough and cutely big eyes and all you will definitely get your picture, as long as you follow his rules and DONT SEND THAT PICTURE TO ANYONE MC!!! or if he's drunk you know that photo is gonna be a piece of cake.

So, I watched the RED Movie yesterday. I have very mixed feelings. I'll explain everything under cut since I want to talk about scenes & plot & involved characters.

So far, a short non-spoiler review:

-> if you're not 100% sure you DON'T want to see the movie, don't hesitate and get yourself a ticket, this is one of those made to be enjoyed in cinema, the experience won't be the same at home

-> if you want to see this only to see your blorbo in action...you most likely will be disappointed, unless your blorbo is Koby, Barto or Usopp

-> if Uta's design & everything told about her in promo materials didn't convince you to like her...you most likely will be disappointed too

-> ...actually, you will have much more fun, if you stop treating it as a movie and start to think about it as high budget music video with Ado's pirate-sona. a big animated fanfic with a quirky OC

-> if you can wait, do yourself a favor and watch it AFTER you read this week's chapter, you will thank me 🤭

And now to the juicy meat.

I went to cinema knowing well this is NOT a movie for me. I'm a manga-only fan, I know anime only in bits and RED is my first OP movie ever. The info revealed in campaign didn't make me enthusiastic, especially given how much they push Uta on the pedestal. Frankly, if not for sis who really wanted to see it, I'd not move my ass to cinema.

But I did. And much to my surprise, I did enjoy it lol Wouldn't call it a good movie (maybe it is for OP standards, no idea), but wouldn't call it a waste of time either. Just a fun thing to watch together with a bunch of nerds, so you can make weird noises when your faves show up.

Uta for me was the weakest point of the movie. Not because I find her a bad-written character (I actually like what they made with her but that's later), but because she has like, 0 chemistry with characters on screen. Her relationship with Shanks and Luffy are limited to very short flashbacks and a few scenes with Shanks at the very end. Luffy and Uta interact with each other but I just...didn't get a feeling they're old friends reuniting after years. I mean, compare it to how Luffy reacted to Ace in Alabasta. Everytime Luffy and Uta met, it felt like a staged scene, and given that a majority of movie is played in alter-reality, controlled by Uta's mind, it gives one whole additional layer of that weird, fake feeling.

Following with the weak points: there's a whole lot of characters who do NOTHING. If we cut all the fight scenes but the finale, a good part of the cast has nothing to do. They just...are. Because they're Strawhats/popular characters. But even with those fight scenes... Zoro, one of the most important characters in the serie, got more or less the same screen time as a fucking chibified fursona of a ship. Even Shanks and Luffy, 2 of 3 main pillars of the movie, don't do that much. Really.

Honestly, fight scenes but the last one disappointed me. I'm a simple One Piece simp: I want to see my blorbos flexing muscles in crazy fights. I know this is not the essence of plot, but it's the flavor. One Piece wouldn't be One Piece if it wasn't boiled in broth made of bloody, sweaty tits, goddammit. In RED majority of fight scenes are edited like AMVs. With insane graphic quality, but with the same chaos and level of cuts and edits. Plus Uta being Uta through majority of screen time. Which is...UGH. The way she fights is really interesting! Whenever she does it, the jaw just drops! I wanna see her fighting with that power! Not look at heavily edited idol performance!

Luckily, at some point movie finally chills down and lets the plot breathe. And once it stops being an AMV on speed, it becomes quite interesting. Especially with the way it flashes out those few characters who got something to do. BIG kudos for choosing less obvious ones for pushing the plot motor: Bartolomeo, Koby, Blueno, Usopp (feat. his daddy issues). Koby was the absolute MVP. Holy fuck. I hope this is just a foretaste of what we're going to see in manga.

Fan theories connoisseurs will be over the moon with the number of symbols and wink winks. Not gonna lie, I focused on lyrics on purpose, to avoid sensory overload from those shaking AMVs and was surpirsed how much info is hidden in them. Like one, big teaser for the upcoming events.

I wonder how many connections will be revealed later. The robots from library? Hell, guess what just happened in chapter 1065 👀 They weren't lying that events aren't canon - but lore definitely is.

The animation & music combo is INSANE. Especially when they let Ado sing instead of pushing her to perform as a candy idol girl (the opening song made my skin crawl jesus christ that was horrible). Gods, the more crazy Uta gets, the better songs get and when the music goes low ohhhhh yes, that's the good shit.

NO FANSERVICE. IN ONE PIECE MOVIE? MORE LIKELY THAN YOU THOUGHT! Except for one very toned panties joke and one not-moving panel from the credits there's literally no fanservice. Null. Zero. Nada. And they let female characters fight to their fullest! Nami, Robin and Brulee do in comparison as much as other background characters.

The final is. IS. I swear, it's one of the best directed fights I've seen in One Piece EVER and hello, forget about the non-anime thig, I watched the famous Katakuri vs Snakeman and the Rooftop. The combo of powerful music, smooth animation, characters cooperating in perfectly-balanced yet unexpected teams, the multi layered attack lead by Usopp and Yasopp, Snakeman-Nika fusion & Shanks finish, fuck, I swear, I was shaking.

I hope this is how final fight in OP will look like. A whole team of our faves from various fractions against Im maybe? 👀

Loved how balanced the humor was. Characteristic for One Piece yet, tamed. Nothing too perverted, nothing too gross, everything chaotic as fuck. Love you, Bepo.

But my favorite part is probably the way they handled the conflict and the case of who's a villain. Don't wanna say too much cause imho this is something everyone should interpret according to their own judgement, but liked how they placed the core in the moral dilemma between bringing relief and utopia for the cost of freedom and remaining free but having to face the reality (oh, someone was inspired by The Matrix). Should I run into lie to comfort myself? Is it a wise idea to try and shield someone from consequences of their actions, even if they were not fully conscious? Does one have a right to decide what's good for others?

If not for the BULLSHIT finish, I'd say the second part saved the movie in my eyes. Sadly, it added to a bad aftertaste. Well, at least I have the OST. And soon-to-come shirtless snake gifs.

Overall, not a tragedy, thing more enjoyable than irritating even if you are easily distracted by things you don't like (like me lol), worth spending money and time even if for just watching an AMV on big screen.

And the obligatory traditional number scale: 4/10 as a stand alone movie, 6/10 as a meat for OP fan, 10/10 of Law's hairy leggies my beloved.
