you know... you're allowed to say that you like twilight. you're allowed to enjoy twilight. you don't have to constantly undercut something you're interested in just because you think it makes you more palatable to random people online who do not know or care about you outside of one singular interest. you are allowed to be a fan of these books or movies independent from what the ~contrary and edgy~ mainstream fandom opinion is.

this has always been a trend in the twilight tumblr fandom; it was certainly more prevalent during the height of the renaissance (~2018-20) but I've been seeing it make a come back recently. this trend where if you express any sort of positive emotion towards the twilight canon you better make sure you, in the same breath, also remind whoever is reading your post that "of COURSE I don't think twilight is good or interesting or that stephenie meyer can write at ALL... I might be a twilight fan but I'm a GOOD one and I'm #different!"

listen. you don't need to impress people who are so unhappy with their own interests that they feel the need to declare that fandom-wide self deprecation is the only way toward acceptance in fandom spaces. you don't need to internalize that idea. you also don't need to feel guilty about enjoying parts of the twilight canon. without it you don't even have the basis for your fun little fanon adventures/headcanons y'all love to post and daydream about so like, c'mon man

I finally get to try a different medication for ADHD via my NP primary care because I explained to her that I’m weeks behind on work, but also I literally have an autoimmune disease that causes open wounds that need frequent care and guess what executive dysfunction and memory problems make really hard to do?

I love having to beg for help using the most extreme versions of my problems via ADHD because my regular day comfort and being able to function just don’t matter.

something that's been weighing on my mind ever since learning about the situation with ezra / toonimal is seeing how these predators will take the active hostility that is frequently directed towards minors in online spaces to their advantage and use it to prey on vulnerable children. i think that we as adults in online fandom should probably come together and maybe rethink the language / manner we go about interacting with kids bc clearly the way things are rn is causing active harm.

like obviously, if you're an adult and aren't comfortable with minors interacting with you or your content, you should be allowed to set that boundary and should be vocal about it, ( especially if the content you create isn't safe for them to consume. ) but i don't think talking to them like they're a blight on all that is good and holy is the way to go about it. maybe just saying you're an 18 plus account will suffice, you don't have to tell them to fuck off.

QWQ is a 15+ discord server made for community. We have an emphasis, of course, on connecting queer writers of every stripe, but allies are welcome as well. All kinds of writers are encouraged to join us, from novelists to poets to screenwriters to fanfic authors.

These days, there's a taboo in a lot of writing communities around sharing work, for fear of theft or spoilers. We believe art is meant to be shared and celebrated, and we're aiming to find new friends to do that with. No one is required to share their work in QWQ if they don't want to, but if you do, we hope to foster a thriving community to support you.
