My boyfriend finally caved and we went to the zoo yesterday! It felt so good to get out of the house and into some nature. I've been working a lot so it was really nice to have a day off to enjoy myself, my partner, and the world around me.
This was a really great reminder for myself that we have lots of nature surrounding my college campus and there's trails everywhere as well. I need to utilize my local resources more often honestly! Hopefully when I move back to my college town next year I'll be able to do things like that more often!
This was a great way to reinvigorate my excitement for the world. That's been a little necessary recently since I've either been inside or working my entire summer so far.
ps, did you know what a fucking mountain chicken is? Look at this guy

Evan Buckley x Eddie Diaz
Warnings: mentions of disagreements and one kiss
Category: fluff/angst
Word Count: 1.9k
Author’s Note: this is part one of my buddie fic :) part 2 will be coming sometime soon. I have the idea, I just need to write it. Also, absolutely no disrespect to Ana, like at all. I love her but I just wrote it this way.
Part 2: Soulmates In This Life & Another
------
The day was quiet but of course no one used the ‘Q word’. They were on hour 16 of a 24 hour shift. The time was 3:56am and only Chimney and Buck were awake. Chim was dozing off on the couch when Buck nudged him to go to bed.
“Man, I'm not tired. I don't know why you think-” his sentence was cut short by a yawn. Buck gave him a pointed look, “still not tired ?” he asked him, his hand resting on his friend’s shoulder as they walked towards the bunks.
Chimney stepped in first, he made himself comfortable on the bed beside Eddie, Buck who followed Chimney in, took a seat on the end of Eddie’s bed. Buck glanced over his shoulder at the sleeping man, a smile on his face. Eddie looked at ease, there was no frown on his face or furrowed brows that were starting to cause little wrinkles on his forehead- he looked relaxed. By the time Buck returned his attention to his sister’s boyfriend, he was fast asleep. Buck let out a little chuckle.
A hand on his shoulder startled him, behind him stood Hen. She gave him a small smile, “I'm gonna make some tea, are you going to bed?” she whispers not wanting to wake any of her sleeping teammates. Buck shook his head, “I'll come with you”
The pair walked to the kitchen, Buck made himself comfortable on one of the stools by the counter while Hen filled the kettle with water. “Eddie seemed a bit on edge earlier, is everything okay with him ?” She stood across from him, Buck’s brows furrowed - he was developing the same little wrinkles Eddie was.
“Yeah, he had promised Chris that he was going to go with him to Abuela’s yesterday but he forgot he had work so Chris was a little bit upset” Buck replied. Hen studied Buck as he spoke, he didn’t hesitate to tell her what was wrong- that was because he trusted him but he instantly knew what's bothering Eddie because Eddie had confided in Buck.
If it were anyone else, Buck would have had to stop and think why they were upset.
If Buck wasn't Buck, Eddie wouldn't have told him what was wrong.
This wasn’t the first time she noticed this either- wherever Buck and Eddie were concerned, you'd go to the other to find out what was wrong. If Eddie was upset, you turned to Buck and if Buck was upset you’d turn to Eddie.
The most recent display she witnessed was when Buck’s parents came to town. They are about to have dinner and Buck hadn’t showed up yet which was strange, considering that he was always first at the table. Bobby asked for Buck and Eddie seemed to be the only one with an answer as to where and what he was doing. Eddie also had gone so far as to give a piece of his mind to the Buckleys while they were at the station about what an amazing man Buck was.
“Buck ?”
“Hen?”
“What’s really going on with you and Eddie ?”
“What do you mean ?” he head cocks to the side. Hen let out a chuckle, of course he was oblivious, he always was. A look of confusion displayed on his face, Hen shook her head and let out a sigh.
“Let me ask you something” She paused for a moment, looking over at her friend, his blue eyes staring back at her brown ones.
“Do you think Eddie loves Ana?”
Hen’s question caught him off guard, he thought it was obvious that he loved her but he paused, thinking about his best friend and his new girlfriend. Sure, they had known each other for a while before when she was Christopher’s teacher but how much can you get to know a person when they’re your kid’s teacher ? They started a relationship rather quickly but Eddie seemed happy and who was he to interfere with his happiness. Nonetheless, he glances back at Hen, “yes, he does. Why are you asking?”
“Okay one more question, you ready?” he hums when she asks.
“Are you an idiot ?”
“What ?” the offence visible on his face, “why would you ask me that ?” he rebutted. Hen laughed, “it was more of a statement to tell you the truth.”
“I’m not an idiot” Buck pouted watching Hen move around the kitchen. She hummed, her back turned to him as he reached for the tea and the mugs. He thought about her first question - what’s really going on with you and Eddie ?
Nothing was going on, they were just friends. They had always been friends. I mean, yeah they didn’t get along when he first arrived by the end of the shift, they were attached at the hip. Buck’s phone chimed, he swiped away the notification to see a picture of him, Christoper and Eddie from a day at the zoo, he had sent it as his wallpaper a while back. His heart skipping a beat at the smile on Eddie’s face in the photo
Nothing was going on, they were just friends.
----
A weekend of rest would do a person a lot of good, unless that person was Eddie Diaz. He entered the station looking worse than he did when he left. His displeasure was no secret as he wore it openly on his face and Buck was the first to notice. Hen followed Buck’s gaze to the man in the locker room and Chimney followed hers. Bobby shouted from the kitchen that breakfast was ready, Hen gave Buck’s shoulder a squeeze as she passed by, her and chimney leaving him by the truck watching Eddie.
Her touch made Buck think back to their conversation a few nights ago.
“What’s really going between you and Eddie ?” her words replayed in his head over and over again, the entire weekend he spent thinking on and off about every single thing that happened between the two of them. Pushing the thoughts aside, he approached the locker room. Buck’s hand knocking on the wall, getting Eddie’s attention.
“Hey, everything okay ?” Buck asked softly, stepping further into the room. He took a seat on the bench in front of Eddie. Eddie was mid changing, his bare back facing Buck as he tumbled through his locker for a shirt. Buck’s eyes raked over Eddie’s skin, soft and tan- a few freckles along his back as his eyes moved lower. Eddie pulled the shirt over his head, Buck’s eyes snapping back up towards his friend’s face.
“Yeah,” the man sighs, “I’m fine.”
“If you’re going to lie to me at least be better at it” scoffing before patting the seat beside him. Eddie turned to Buck when he sat. “What’s really going on?” The blonde man questioned and Eddie paused, taking in his best friend. His blue eyes staring thoughtfully at him. Eddie had always had a liking for Buck’s eyes, they were so beautiful and if he could stare into them forever, he would. His eyes trailed down to  Buck’s lips- pink, soft, full, perfect.
Oh if he could kiss him right now.
“Eds?” Buck’s voice pulled him from his thoughts.
“Hm?”
“What’s going on?” he asked once again, Eddie let out another sigh.
“It’s Ana, man. We got into a fight when I got home on Saturday.”
“About?”
Eddie didn’t mind that Buck pried. If it were anyone else, he’d probably storm out and brood for the rest of the day because someone was poking around in his business but because it was Buck- he didn’t say anything. Buck always listened, didn’t matter what he had to say, he listened.
“She wants me to meet her parents. I told her it was too early to meet them but then she brought up the fact that she’s met abuela and I kind of let it slip that it wasn't intentional that she met her.”
Buck’s heart skipped a beat, something about Eddie saying it wasn’t intentional that Ana met Abuela made him feel a glimmer of hope. Surely if Eddie didn’t want them to meet, it couldn't be serious. “You didn’t want her to meet abuela?”
“I did, but not so soon, you know?” he groaned. Buck’s hand reached for Eddie instinctively, giving it a small squeeze. Buck leaned towards the man sitting in front of him, Eddie had a hold on Buck - something had him gravitating towards him. He wanted to comfort his friend so badly, he hated seeing him sad.
Something urged him to move his hand up to Eddie’s face. His hand seemed so pale in comparison to Eddie’s tan skin. Eddie watched as Buck shifted towards him, his hand on his face. He’d be lying if he said he didn’t like the way it felt. Buck’s hand was much bigger than Ana’s - it held his face just the way he liked- the way he had imagined.
He froze in place as he watched Buck lean towards him, their lips inches away from each other. Eddie’s heart felt like it was beating out of his chest- beating so loudly that everyone in the station could hear it.
Buck’s lips met his and Eddie’s heart decided to skip a beat, the smell of him intoxicating beyond reason. Butterflies fluttered in his stomach and it would a lie to say he hadn’t thought of this exact moment a thousand times over. The warmth Buck radiated was the only thing that filled Eddie’s head, his hands reaching forward to pull Buck closer to him. Just as he did, the alarm blared causing the two of them to abruptly end their kiss.
Lips swollen and faces red, the pair smile at each other. Buck walks out first going to get his turnout gear. Eddie replays what just happened in his head again, fingers coming up to touch his lips- the same place Buck’s lips were only a moment ago. He stepped out and got his gear as well. They all loaded onto the truck, the drive was quiet except for Bobby giving them instructions.
“Hey man, how was your weekend ?” Chim breaks the silence.
Eddie's chest drops as does the smile from his face.
He had forgotten all about Ana during the brief time he spent with Buck. Everyone noticed the drop in conversation, all eyes in the truck burning into Eddie, waiting for his answer. Buck noticed the change in expression, he went from being happy to a state of worry.
“It was fine.” The three words would be the beginning of the downfall of their friendship in the upcoming weeks.

the huntsman - platonic!ot7 x reader (romantic!yoongi focus; namjin)
genre: drabble, crack. warnings: swearing. pairing(s): platonic ot7, min yoongi x reader, namjin.
Australia was a great country.
The weather was amazing and the people were so nice. Plus, there wasn’t really a lot of ARMY there so you supposed that was a good change.
You’d been to the zoo and seen a crocodile, went scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef (even though you were terrified of deep water and nearly drowned), learnt how to surf (and failed), and tried Vegemite (on toast).
Now here you all were, chilling in your cabin.
It wasn’t really a cabin, more of a house. Same thing. The V-Live was ending soon, or so you thought.
“So, yesterday, Jagiya was so scared she nearly sha - what, Hoseok?”
Yoongi stopped halfway through, exasperated, making the rest of you turn to see a very pale-faced rapper.
Jimin turned the camera to show ARMY what he was so scared about, you angled your gaze in the same direction before letting out a horrified squeal, grabbing your boyfriend’s arm.
Jungkook had wide eyes and was staring at the eight-legged thing in horror; Taehyung could barely hold his laughter.
But Seokjin was the most characteristic.
Namjoon looked right about ready to die as his boyfriend climbed up on a chair and began spraying the thing with Glen 20, an Australian disinfectant spray.
“It’s harmless,”
Jimin was cackling, reading out someone’s comment (who a fan had nicely translated for them).
“It’s a Huntsman, a friendly spider.”
“Hear that, Seokjin? It’s a friendly spider. Friendly. It’s harmless.” Namjoon’s voice was so restrained that you could’ve laughed if it weren’t for the fact that you were also wishing death on it, terrified.
“It’s harmless, hyung!” Yoongi moaned, “leave it alone! Leave it alone - Jagiya!”
“Kill it, Seokjin!” you detatched yourself from your boyfriend bravely, “kill it! Kill it! Namjoon needs a man, be a man!”
“I’m trying!” Seokjin roared, the fear quavering in his voice.
Jimin cackled even louder, turning the camera towards you and your boyfriend, Yoongi, who’d been desperately trying to get you away from the eight-legged creature.
Jungkook was sobbing with laughter.
Seokjin started spraying the huntsman violently, making Hoseok scream with snickers.
“Spray - spray disinfectant isn’t going to kill anything except for germs, hyung!”
“Die, monster, die! Leave me and my friends alone!”
“Control your boyfriend!” (That was Taehyung, who looked like he was having a fit).
“I’m trying to!” Namjoon roared back, making fans cackle on the comments.
“Y/N, leave it alone! You sick bastard, Seokjin, it’s harmless! You’re traumatizing it! Be free, mochi, be free!”
“Don’t call him a bastard, you virgin asshole! That’s my boyfri -”
“He’s not a virgin!” you roared back, “and don’t call him a bastard! More like, hero! Kill it, Seokjin! Kill it!”
“Die, bug, die!”
“Be free, mochi, be free! You’re cruel, Y/N, cruel!”
“MIN YOONGI, IF YOU CALL THAT MONSTER ‘CUTE’ AGAIN, I WILL DUMP YOU FOR SEOKJIN, SHUT UP, NAMJOON, NOW HELP US KILL IT!”
“Kill it, Seokjin, kill it!”
“You see, ARMY?” you cheered, Jimin backed up, “the man listens to the woman! He always - OPPA! WHAT IS THAT?! GET IT OFF ME!”
“Kill it, Seokjin, kill it!”
“Oh my god.”

Some Girl ... Part 12
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: None.
// * // * //
Sunday / July 25th
After talking before bed the night before, Charlotte and Shawn agreed that he would ride with her, Jonah, and Mackenzie to Elisa and Jack’s. It didn’t make sense for them to take two vehicles to the same place. Shawn said he’d walk over and grab coffee on the way. Make a good first impression, he had chuckled, although Charlotte could hear the truth within his words.
Shawn arriving early would give him, Jonah, and Mackenzie a chance to meet and get to know one another a little before they joined everyone else. They would talk over coffee and after Sebastian woke from his morning nap and nursed, they would leave for brunch.
Charlotte nearly swooned when she opened the door for Shawn.
His skin was bronzed and glowing, having spent so much time outside over the past week. His hair had lightened a shade as well, and whatever products he had put in it that morning had his curls and waves behaving beautifully.
He was wearing white jean shorts with a brown belt, a trim-fit, navy blue button-down with the first few buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up, and brown Vans with blue accents.
“Good morning, babe,” she beamed. She hated how only one day away from him had suddenly become too long.
“Good morning,” he grinned back, wrapping the arm of his free hand around her and snuggling her tightly to him. He breathed her in. It had been only one day but he had deeply missed the soft scent of her.
When they eased out of their hug, Charlotte ran the open placket of Shawn’s shirt between her thumb and forefinger. “You look so handsome,” she smiled. “I love you in blue.”
“Thank you, darling. You are as beautiful as always.”
Charlotte was wearing a white, short-sleeve, off the shoulder blouse and white and navy blue striped shorts. She noticed that her outfit complimented his perfectly.
“Are you ready to meet my brother and his fiancée?”
“I hope so,” he chuckled.
She linked her hand with his which wasn’t carrying their coffee and together they walked further into the condo. Jonah and Mackenzie had been sitting at the kitchen island but stood when Charlotte and Shawn entered the room.
Before any introductions could be made, Mackenzie breathed, “Oh my God, you two are adorable.”
“I swear, we did not discuss what we were going to wear today,” Charlotte laughed.
“It’s perfect,” Mackenzie giggled, “I love it.”
Charlotte introduced Shawn to Jonah and Mackenzie.
Jonah gave Shawn a once-over when they shook hands. He was tall, fit, and clean-cut, with a strong jawline and five visible tattoos. He was very attractive. Any man secure enough in who they were could admit when another man was attractive.
Mackenzie, on the other hand, gave Shawn a thorough head to toe.
Charlotte was used to women reacting favorably to Shawn, and she also knew it was something that was always going to happen with him being who he was. Even if the person didn’t know who he was, aside from being a global popstar, he was simply an incredibly attractive man. In any case, Charlotte had no true claim on Shawn. Besides, Mackenzie was happily engaged to Jonah; Charlotte knew she meant no harm or disrespect.
They all sat together at the dining room table with their coffees. Charlotte took a sip of Shawn’s coffee and instead of giving it back to him, she handed him hers.
“Babe,” he chuckled.
“Yours is better.”
“It also has a lot more caffeine,” he tittered.
She took a couple of additional sips and then, somewhat reluctantly, handed it back to him, reclaiming her own.
Charlotte looked at Jonah and Mackenzie’s amused expressions, and explained, “Too much caffeine isn’t good for Bash.”
“I started reading What to Expect: the First Year after I met Charlotte and Bash for the first time,” Shawn admitted, blushing.
“What? I didn’t know that,” Charlotte breathed, astonished. Shawn shrugged nonchalantly. “Why are you so fucking cute?” she smirked, briefly cupping his face, stroking the pad of her thumb along his cheekbone.
Jonah didn’t say so out loud, but that was something truly admirable. Not many male friends of a single mother would bother to take the time to do that. Hell, not many boyfriends would.
“How old are you, Shawn?” Jonah wondered. Shawn was already proving himself to be quite mature, but he still looked relatively young.
“I’ll be 23 in two weeks.”
“August 8th,” Charlotte offered.
“Leo,” Mackenzie tacked on. “And Charlie, you’re an Aquarius?” she asked. “February?”
“The 4th,” Shawn said, with a nod.
Mackenzie simply smiled in an all-knowing sort of way.
“Are you originally from Toronto?” Jonah asked Shawn.
“Born and raised in Pickering. Graduated from Pine Ridge.”
“I have a buddy who went to Pine Ridge. Played varsity hockey.”
“I played hockey. And soccer and basketball, too. I was in drama and the glee club. I also did Leadership Camp every year except my last.”
“Did you go to college?” Mackenzie asked.
“No. I was too busy touring…”
Jonah looked confused. “Excuse me?”
Shawn looked at Charlotte. Jonah and Mackenzie noticed that an entire conversation seemed to pass between them without words.
“I don’t meet very many people who don’t already know who I am,” Shawn said.
“Should we know who you are?” Mackenzie asked.
“Not necessarily. Not by sight anyway. Maybe not at all. You may know some of my music.”
At that moment they all heard Sebastian through the baby monitor. It wasn’t the ideal time for him to have woken up.
Charlotte frowned. “I would say, hold that thought, but...”
“It’s all right. Go,” Shawn smiled reassuringly.
She stood from the table and ran her fingers through the little curls at the nape of his neck. “May as well get it out of the way, babe.” Just before Charlotte entered the nursery, she said, “Alexa, play Shawn Mendes.”
// * // * //
The moment Charlotte returned after nursing, she heard Jonah ask, “Elisa and Jack, and everyone, you’ve met them already? We’re not springing any surprises on them?”
“He met them last weekend,” Charlotte answered.
“Hi buddy!” Shawn beamed at Sebastian.
Sebastian was already reaching for Shawn when Charlotte handed him over. “All except Valerie. And she is very excited to meet him today.”
Jonah could easily see that Shawn and Sebastian had already bonded, and he really liked that Shawn was thoughtful, sweet to, and respectful of his sister. They made a good match, even if they weren’t officially together in any capacity more than friendship.
“How did it go?” Charlotte asked, looking from Shawn to Jonah and Mackenzie. “You’re cool?” she said to her brother and his fiancée.
“We’re cool,” Mackenzie smiled.
“I always expect everyone to immediately recognize him.” Charlotte turned to Mackenzie, “I was anticipating having to have a conversation with you yesterday when you saw the picture of us on the console table.”
“What picture?” Shawn asked.
Charlotte retrieved the photo and brought it back to Shawn.
“Aw babe, I want a copy of this.” Sebastian tried to grasp the frame and bring it to his mouth. “Really, little man? Everything has to go straight into your mouth, eh?”
“I thought you might,” she smiled and pulled from her pocket the coolest flash drive keychain he had ever seen. “All of the photos from the zoo are on it. You can keep whichever ones you want and delete the rest.”
“This is amazing. Thank you, darling,” he said, grinning brightly, wrapping an arm around her waist.
“Should we get going then?”
// * // * //
Charlotte’s family was ecstatic when she and Shawn, with Sebastian in his arms, arrived at brunch with Jonah and Mackenzie.
As Jonah was swept up in hugs and excited chatter, Shawn whispered encouragingly to Mackenzie, “Try not to feel overwhelmed. You’re marrying into an incredible family.”
Mackenzie squeezed Shawn’s forearm. “Thank you, Shawn.”
Jonah introduced Mackenzie, who was eagerly and enthusiastically welcomed.
Everyone was happy to see Shawn as well. They adored him almost as much as Charlotte did, which settled warmly in her chest.
The only one who hadn’t met Shawn yet was Valerie, and with the tiniest nod from Charlotte in her direction, she finally approached, greeting her cousin with a bright smile and a hug.
Charlotte squeezed her back, quick and tight. “I’m happy you’re here.” She then took Sebastian from Shawn and introduced him to Valerie.
She and Shawn could both see how excited Valerie was to meet him, but she did an admirable job keeping her composure, which was good. She needed to get used to Shawn being around.
Elisa swept by and snatched Sebastian from Charlotte’s arms and yelled over her shoulder at the trio, “Go eat!”
// * // * //
Once stomachs were full and minds were mimosa-relaxed, and when Jonah had the chance to step away from the whirlwind of aunts, uncles, and cousins, first making sure Mackenzie felt comfortable enough for him to do so, he went looking for Shawn.
He found him with his sister, of course; they were practically joined at the hip after all. They were cleaning up the kitchen, laughing so hard about God knows what that they were wheezing.
“So this is where the real party is. Clean up. Who knew?” Once Shawn and Charlotte had a chance to catch their breath, Jonah asked, “Do you play pool, Shawn?”
Charlotte gave Shawn a look that said, I warned you this might happen.
Shawn just smirked at Charlotte before turning to Jonah to say, “I’m better at ping pong than pool, but sure.”
“Great.” He then said to Charlotte, “I’ll get him back to you before you know it.” She softly bit her bottom lip and blushed.
The two young men headed downstairs to the rec room.
After the break and when they had each had one turn, Shawn said, “Charlotte told me you would want to talk, man to man.”
“No pretext then, eh?”
“What are my intentions with your sister?”
“We’ll get there,” Jonah chuckled. “How long have you and Charlie known each other?”
“Not long. Less than anyone might expect. We’ve never been outright asked and we’ve always sort of skirted around the specifics.”
“Why?”
Shawn nervously ran his hand though his hair. “Because it’s kind of ridiculous and we’re afraid we’ll be judged for it.”
Jonah was both curious and apprehensive. He waited until after Shawn took his next shot, sinking one ball, but not the next. He was hoping Shawn would offer more on his own, which he did as Jonah took his turn.
“I don’t know how you felt when you met Mackenzie for the first time, but Charlotte and I... It was immediate, the connection we made. She was heaven-sent when I needed someone the most.”
“And when was that? I’m asking outright.”
Shawn’s cheeks reddened. “A week ago.”
“Wait. Hold on.”
Shawn looked at Jonah in a way which said, now you know why we skirt around it.
“Okay. Reserving my judgement. Go on.”
Shawn continued, telling Jonah about where, when, and how he met Charlotte, and how their lives have intertwined since then. He took a deep breath before saying, “You know how you hear about ‘love at first sight’ and ‘when you know, you know?’ It’s like that with us. I mean, not exactly. We’re not in love,” he blushed. “But there’s deep affection and appreciation between us. She’s the most honest and accepting person I know. She’s sweet, and she’s kind, and I know I can place my faith and trust in her.”
“Forgive me for asking, but I have to. I have to watch out for my sister. I’m sure you understand, having a younger sister yourself... You’re not looking for a rebound or taking advantage of her in any way, are you?”
“Wow. Blunt. But I appreciate that. If you know Charlotte at all, she doesn’t let anyone take advantage of her... And with who I am, I have to be careful that I’m not the one being taken advantage of.”
“I didn’t even consider that,” Jonah said, thoughtfully.
“Regardless, no. I care about her too much. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt her.”
“Has Charlie told you much about Booker?”
“I know that she loved him, and she said he was good to her when he was around, but she also used the words 'complicated', 'reckless', and 'dangerous'. I haven’t pressed her for more. We don't really talk about our exes.
“She hasn’t asked me about my ex aside from wondering how I’m doing. I know Charlotte would tell me about Booker if I asked, but I would rather have her offer to tell me when she feels ready to. It doesn’t seem to matter much though because, as far as I understand, he hasn’t even tried to reach out since she left him. Which is a dick move, by the way. If I had a son, I’d do anything to be in his life; never mind what kind of relationship I had with his mother.
“We’ll have those conversations when we’re ready, or when we need to.” Shawn then said, “She misses you a lot, you know. You should really make an effort to come back to Toronto more often. And Bash is going to grow up so fast. You don’t want to miss that.”
“I like your integrity,” Jonah said. “And I like you. I like you for Charlie.”
“We’re-”
“Just friends, I know. Still. You care for her. She cares for you. I like how you treat her and my nephew. I see how you watch out for them. I hope you’re in their lives for a long time, whether you stay only friends or someday it turns into something more.”

Birds Of A Feather [5/7]
Hawks x Fem!Reader
Warnings: kissing, allusions to smut but nothing explicit
Part 5/7
The next day, you wake up early. Not so early that you’re inclined to roll over and go back to sleep, but enough that you’ll have time to make and enjoy breakfast.
Keigo is still snoozing beside you, cuddled tightly in a cocoon of soft blankets. You’re glad. After yesterday, he certainly deserves a good rest. You lean over and press a kiss to his forehead, smiling gently at his peaceful face.
After he’d kissed you last night, you’d been worried, as his piercing gaze stared down at you. Worried he didn’t mean it in the way you wanted, worried your feelings would get rejected. But he’d just looked at you with the softest expression you’d ever seen him wear, and reconnected your lips. You’d stayed on the floor for a good ten minutes, holding each other close and making out like a pair of teenagers.
He insisted you share a bed with him afterwards, in the most innocent way possible. He promised he'd sleep better with you nearby, but you knew it was just a thinly veiled excuse to spoon you. You didn’t mind.
Even now as you prepared breakfast, you felt light and airy and happy. All because of him.
“Mornin’.”
You’re frying some eggs when a sleepy voice sounds in the doorway, and you turn towards him. Keigo is there, barely awake and still rumpled from sleeping, with even his minimal feathers resembling some kind of bedhead.
“Awh, look at you, all drowsy,” you coo.
He grumbles halfheartedly, bumbling over to where you stand to kiss your cheek. He wraps his arms around your waist and sets his chin on your shoulder, peering down at the wide array of food you’re making.
“What’s the occasion?” he asks.
You hum a little and shrug. “I dunno. Figured you’d need a good meal after what happened yesterday? It might help your feathers grow back faster.”
You stay like that for a few minutes, until it comes time to flip the eggs. You shoo him to the breakfast table, and follow shortly after with your arms full of plates.
He starts heaping things onto his dish the moment you sit down, and you hide a laugh. Your mother always said that the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach.
“So what do you wanna do today?” you ask, shoveling a piece of egg into your mouth.
Keigo shrugs, giving your question little consideration. “I thought movies on the couch sounded okay?”
You wonder when the last time he had a day off was, and even more so when he last did something fun. “You said we’d go out and do stuff together, Kei,” you tell him, “that’s why I agreed to take time off. Remember?”
He smiles at your nickname, his cheeks glowing a soft pink. “Fair enough. What did you have in mind?”
“I dunno...what kind of stuff haven’t you done before?”
“A lot, actually,” he chuckles dryly, “you’d think I would have seen more of the country I grew up in.”
Your heart twists a little, silently mourning for his lost childhood. You hoped he’d open up about that to you sometime in the future, even though you already had a pretty good idea of what he went through. You hoped you could be somewhere safe for him to come home to.
“How about we start with the big things you haven’t done,” you suggest around a mouthful of food, “like, things you always wanted to do?”
He thinks for a moment.
“I’ve never been to the zoo,” he says, matter-of-factly. “Or a butterfly sanctuary. I’ve never had a beach day, either, despite the fact that I have a summer home. Uh...movie theatres. Amusement parks. All that stuff.”
He pulls some pancakes onto his plate and douses them thoroughly in syrup. You smile and shake your head.
“Well, we don’t want to get swarmed by fans, as much as I love them. Maybe we could do something like the beach?”
“Yeah?” you can hear the excitement in his voice.
“Yeah. We could spend a few days in that summer house of yours.”
Keigo finishes his food quickly after that, rushing to make a few phonecalls and arrange for a ride. You remind him to also get someone to come in and stock the place with food, so the two of you won’t have to deal with the grocery store. It would be a nice, relaxing weekend. No fans invited.
----
You start packing your suitcase while he makes his calls. You have most of what you’ll need for the trip; clothes, toiletries, the like. You wonder if you should pack a set of sheets, too, but you decide against it. This was Keigo’s house you were talking about, after all. You’d bet your left arm you’d walk into the place and it would be fully furnished.
Said boyfriend wanders into the room while you’re tossing things into a duffel bag, and leans against the wall to watch you.
“What?” you ask, “do I have something on my face?”
He smiles sweetly at you, shaking his head. “Nah, you’re just really pretty. It’s gonna be nice to have some time for just us.”
You fluster slightly, warmth creeping onto your face. “Y-you can’t just say things like that!” you scold, but it’s half hearted.
“Why not? Am I not allowed to compliment my girlfriend?”
The warmth spreads down your neck, and you think for a moment that he is a smug, smug oversized chicken.
“So I’m your girlfriend, huh?” you tease, zipping your bag up and throwing it over your shoulder.
He meanders towards you and takes your face in his hands. “Yeah, you’re my girlfriend, and I plan on keeping you for a long time.” The kiss he then gives you is gentle and sweet, maybe from the syrup on his pancakes, maybe from the affection he pours into it. You sigh happily against his lips and snake your arms around his waist.
He’s warm and solid, pressed against you, lithe body holding an unexpected amount of strength. His hands travel downwards, slowly, fingertips ghosting over your neck, collarbones, stopping and hesitating at the tops of your breasts.
Ah. Ever the gentleman.
You arch against him and bite his bottom lip, and his hands continue. His grip is gentle on your chest, nimble fingers caressing soft flesh through your shirt. He groans, low in the back of his throat, and squeezes a little harder.
His kisses grow sloppier, until he’s mouthing down your neck to nip and suck at your skin.
“Keigo…” you whine, shivering at his touch, “I...I want-”
He slips a thigh between yours, and pulls you against him by the hips. You have no choice but to grind down on him, delicious friction sending pleasant shocks throughout your body.
You continue like that for a couple minutes, hands grabbing and groping at each other, slipping under shirts for better access and more sensation. You’re in heaven, wet and hot on his thigh, and you can feel that he’s in no better a condition.
But it’s not enough. Enough to drive you crazy, sure, but hardly enough to bring you over the edge. You’re about to beg him for more, for as much as he’s willing to give, when suddenly his phone starts chirping in the distance.
Keigo groans in irritation, his head dropping onto your shoulder. He slows him ministrations, touches regretfully receding from your body, and gives you a final apologetic kiss.
“Sorry, chickadee, but that would be our ride.”
You grumble at the loss of contact, mind foggy and nerves buzzing, muttering about how you’d like a different ‘ride’. “S’okay…” you say, though the disappointment is evident in your tone. “We can try again later though, right?”
He lights up like a christmas tree.
----
The drive is uneventful, peaceful even, and it’s late afternoon by the time you arrive at the beach house.
“You know, when you said ‘summer home’, I don’t know why I thought ‘cottage’.” You stare up at the building in front of you, which has to be at least three times the size of your apartment. It’s two, maybe two and a half, storeys tall, with dozens of huge windows, and an enormous front porch. The garden is meticulously maintained, filled with exotic plants, and palm trees you’re pretty sure have been imported.
It’s very over the top, and you know you should have expected it; Keigo worked hard, flew fast, and earned more money than he knew what to do with.
You wander into the front foyer together, kicking your shoes off before proceeding to the rest of the house.
From the main living area, you had a clear view and access to the backyard, and beyond that a private spit of beach and ocean. You weren’t sure how such a huge property could be as secluded as it was, but it certainly made it happen.
“Kei, why is there a pool?”
He wanders over to you, following your gaze to the aforementioned structure.
“Huh,” he says, “I didn’t know that was there.”
You close your eyes and sigh deeply. It’s fine, you’re fine, and it’s none of your business to question why there was a pool on the property when the ocean was a hundred feet from the back deck.
“You really never stayed here, have you?” you’re exasperated. “Like, did you even look at the place before you bought it?”
He at least has the decency to look sheepish. “I never had time? Even when I lose my feathers, I usually have to stay in the office and do paperwork.”
“Do you not have paperwork this time?”
“Oh, no, I do!” he smiles cheekily, “I’d just rather be here with you.”
“Keigo!”
----
You both unpack quickly, setting your clothes up in the wardrobe in your shared room. He’s packed entirely too much for a three day vacation, but you suppose he doesn’t have much experience with that. You’re also fairly certain you did the same…
Despite your overall reservation about the rich and slightly entitled atmosphere of the house, you were excited to be there. It’s been years since you’d last had a vacation, the last time possibly being your senior graduation event, and you could feel that you desperately needed time off.
Keigo sits on the edge of the bed, clad in comfortable shorts and a T-shirt, watching you sort your things out and set them in drawers.
“So...what now?” he asks.
You hang your final sun dress up, and turn to him. “Now we do whatever we want. Lounge on the beach, or the patio -though it looks like it might rain-, go swimming, decide what to make for dinner…speaking of, did you have someone stock the pantry?”
“Yeah. Fridge, too.”
“Perfect! How about you pick what to make, and help me with it?”
----
Keigo, in his chicken-loving fashion, decides on ‘fancy chicken nuggets’. You’re not exactly sure how to make that, or what would go well with it, but you’re giving it your best shot, mixing fresh spices and herbs into the floury breading.
Your boyfriend sits at the island a few feet away, watching you flit between appliances and bowls and chopping boards. He had tried to help you briefly, but proved himself rather inept at preparing food, so you’d kindly banished him out from under your feet.
“You’re a woman after my own heart,” he sighs, resting his cheek in the palm of his hand.
You peek at him over your shoulder and smile. “I swear, you’re such a dude. A nice plate of food in front of you, and you swoon.”
Mischief sparkles in his eyes. “That’s not true! I like a pretty face, too!”
“Then why the heck did you choose me?” you snicker.
Keigo doesn’t laugh. Quite the opposite, in fact. He grows unusually serious, and slides off the barstool to come stand beside you.
“You’re beautiful. You know that, right?” he asks.
You roll your eyes. “It was just a joke, Kei…”
“Self deprecating jokes have an element of personal truth to them.”
“Keigo seriously-”
“Say you’re beautiful.”
“You’re beautiful.”
“Y/N, you know what I mean. Say you’re beautiful.”
You sigh. “I’m...pretty.”
“Beautiful.”
“Beautiful.”
“Good! Now, all together.”
“I’m...I’m…” you hesitate on the word, fidgeting while you try to say it. You don’t know why a single self compliment is proving so tricky. It might be the way he looks at you, so intense and focused. It’s making you nervous.
You avert your gaze and turn away. “I should check the nuggets-”
But he captures you in his arms, pulling you back against his chest. “We’re not done here yet.”
You squirm a little, but your heart isn’t in it. When you finally still, he speaks again.
“Who made you believe you aren’t beautiful?” he wonders softly, resting his chin on your shoulder. You shiver at his warm breaths on your neck, and let yourself lean back into him.
“Why does it matter?”
“I need to know who to punch.”
You laugh at that, but it’s dry and humourless. “I’m afraid it’s no one in particular,” you tell him, “It’s just kind of a behaviour that everyone picks up over the years, y’know? It’s not a big deal, in my case, it’s not like I hate myself.”
Keigo squeezes you a little. “You just don’t think you’re beautiful.”
“The definition of beauty changes from person to person, anyways. I’m sure there are people I find beautiful that don’t see it, too.”
“Doesn’t that make you sad, though?”
Your shoulders sag in defeat. It does make you sad, when the people you love and cherish would choose to change so much about themselves, if they could. When they don’t see the life and personality and kindness behind their smiles and dimples and blemishes.
“I guess,” you mumble.
Keigo lays a kiss against your shoulder, lips lingering against your bare shoulder. He presses another, closer to your neck this time, and another after that. “I’ll say it every day until you believe it, sweetheart,” he tells you, voice low and silken, “you’re beautiful. Your wings are beautiful, too. So strong and graceful. They give away your feelings sometimes, y’know? They get fluffy when you’re excited, or mad, or scared…”
“Keigo…”
He continues his journey across your shoulder, while his hands roam slowly up your sides. “You smile could light up a room, and your laugh? Don’t even get me started. I’ve never heard something so close to perfection, it makes my stomach twist up in knots.”
You tremble in his arms, the familiar warmth of arousal beginning to course through your veins. Still, he doesn’t stop.
“You work so hard, and you take your job seriously, and you’re good at it, too. Yet you’ve never cared about popularity, even though you’re kind to your fans. You just want to help people, and make a difference where you can. It’s admirable, and noble, and the world needs more heroes like you.”
You squirm in place, turning carefully around in his arms. At this distance, you can see all the freckles and scars on his face, and feel his short breaths fan across your cheeks.
“You...really have feelings for me, don’t you?” you whisper, as though you can’t quite believe it.
“Of course I do,” his tone is low, “I wouldn’t have tried so hard to befriend you if I wasn’t at least a little bit interested. And you turned out to be so much better than I expected.”
You lock your fingers behind his neck, the soft hairs there tickling your skin. His eyes flutter ever so slightly, and his next breath is shaky.
“Y/N, I…”
You lean forward and kiss him.
It’s messy, and heated, and he responds to your touches with soft moans and gasps. He pulls you as close as he can, your bodies flush together, and you can feel him hard against your thigh. He’s certainly easy to rile up, but you don’t particularly mind.
His hands roam your form, grabbing and squeezing wherever you let him venture. He breaks your kiss to start sucking a bruise onto your neck, biting down on your skin when his actions earn a gentle whine from you.
“The things you do to me,” he sighs, stilling his hands from a brief second. “I wanted you the moment I laid my eyes on you.”
Your press your foreheads together, staring into his golden eyes.
“Would you let me have you, chickadee?” he asks, begs, “would you let me keep you?”
“Yes,” you whisper without a second thought, reconnecting your lips.

A to Z of LynnCove: E is for Eternity
A quick look at a bright future
This was supposed to be posted yesterday but I had a bit of a panic attack so that did not happen :] Sorry about that!! Here’s a long one to make up for it <3
-------------------------------------------------
Even though it was his day off, Cove still woke up to his alarm in the morning. He wasn’t a natural morning person, and needed the extra push in order to wake up most mornings. The sun filtered in through the semi-opaque curtains of his bedroom, and the 25 year old man groaned softly as he moved to turn his alarm off and grab his glasses. Just as soon as he slipped them on his face, did the sliding barn door to the bedroom open to an eager little Chesapeake Bay Retriever that bounded over to him and licked at the free hand that laid off the side of the bed.
“Well good morning to you too, Fleche.” Cove hummed and petted the not-quite puppy , but not quite an adult dog, her coat was soft yet a little wet, as Fleche was a very messy eater.  At the little girl’s insistence, Cove swung his legs over the edge of the bed and stood up, stretching in the light of the summer sun after he opened the curtains. Just as he stood up, the smell of breakfast cooking reached Cove’s nose. “Ah. So this is what you were sent here to do. Already had your breakfast, little girl?” Fleche pushed against Cove’s legs, not even looking up at him to answer his question.
The house he lived in at age 25 was nothing short of beautiful. A small beach house right close to the water, it was like something out of a dream when he found it. Gorgeous wood floors, an overall hawaiian feeling to it (for being in southern california) and the best view ever…. Well, the beach was good too.
[Rest Under the Cut]
His view, though, came in the form of a person’s back being turned to him as they stood in the kitchen, cooking breakfast. Tall and angular, the years had been very kind to them, and their hair was long and in its natural color, a warm brown. There was a tattoo on their left calf of a crab surrounded by poppies, one that matched his own of a dolphin that resided on his lower back. They didn’t hear him coming, but Cove wasn’t one for pulling pranks, that thankfully, was his spouse’s forte. Cove walked up behind them, gently wrapping large arms around their waist and nuzzling his face in their hair.
“Good Morning sleepyhead.” They spoke, not turning their head to look over at him.
“ Mornin’ Lynn.” Cove returned, pressing a kiss to his spouse’s cheek.
Lynn and Cove had changed a lot over the years in terms of likes and appearances. Lynn, who had once been asked to model thanks to their beautiful and femmine figure, was now a lot more androgynous after some soul searching, and a wonderful support network. Cove fit the more masculine look, and looked a lot more like his father, but that same look betrayed his soft and shy personality.
“What are you making?” Cove asked after Lynn turned to look back at him and to get a kiss. Lynn smiled warmly as they turned back to the pan, and what was cooking inside it.
“Pancakes. I made some separate ones for me, these are your pancakes.” Cove had only been half-listening after they mentioned that they made pancakes, the hungry thoughts of food filling his mind as he let go of his spouse.
“I’ll set the table. What do you want to drink?” Cove asked, rubbing his eyes with a wide yawn. Lynn shrugged as they flipped one of the pancakes.
“Orange juice sounds good.” Lynn said nonchalantly, to which Cove nodded and grabbed the bottle from their fridge, which was decorated with many tourist magnets as well as photos, ads, and sticky notes.
Sooner, breakfast was finished cooking. Lynn served Cove’s plate first, and then their own at their small nook that served as their dining table. Fleche had run off to nap in a sunny spot on the couch, their living area being an open floor plan. The two of them weren’t perfect, as many people seemed to still believe, but they worked well and communicated with each other - which led to such a strong relationship. They had their own things that they did, and own friends, but they still did a lot together as a couple - one thing they loved doing, even now, was going for a surf on their days off. Cove wanted to ask Lynn if they were up to the idea.
“Are you up for surfing today, husband?” Lynn asked, as though they’d read Cove’s mind. A mischievous smile danced on their lips, and Cove wasn’t sure if they could...or if they were just messing with him, but he felt like they knew.
“Yes.”He squeaked out, a blush appearing on his features.
The topic soon, even though it was their day off, developed into talking about work. At age 25, Cove was a chef and organizer for a local charity kitchen. It wasn’t a glamorous job, certainly, but it was one that he enjoyed doing. People loved him, and he was able to talk easier with the vulnerable people he taught to cook. Lynn’s hard work their entire life paid off, and they were a zookeeper, taking care of marine animals at the zoo’s aquarium. Their work and his helped pay for their gorgeous house, and dog.. And the nice set of savings for when they would try for children.
The trip to the beach was as mundane as it always was, but for the two of them - every moment was magical as they ran around the water near their home. Fleche loved to play fetch with them when they went out on their surfboards, she could swim really far and would bring back the frisbee they threw each time. Fleche was also a very good girl as well, when they set her back on land and went at it surfing; the waters near their home were a prime spot for waves but were unknown except for by the locals. There was a kid that always came by to watch them, and the two of them often joked how much it was like they were already parents.
After coming home from the beach and taking a shower, the couple split off and would do their own things on their day off. For Cove it consisted of testing a new muffin recipe that he wanted to surprise Lynn with, as well as getting in a few chapters of his new book, and watering the plants they were growing on their porch. For Lynn, their free time consisted of watching a new soccer match, a few crosswords during lulls in the game, working more on a painting they were doing, and unfortunately answering emails as the newest intern was a complete klutz but Lynn was very very patient.
That night was time though for the two of them to get dressed up for a joint-family dinner. The Holdens and The Chos started it after Lynn went off for college and Cove moved out, though the individual families would still have separate dinners from time to time. It was much better with everyone though. Kyra still lived in Nevada, working ever hard on her writing - she had a boyfriend recently though, last time Cove and Lynn saw her. As for Mr. Holden, he’d gotten married the last summer, to a lovely woman named Aya who owned a flower shop, but Cove was still not sure about her. Mom and Ma were doing really well for themselves, taking it easy but still being the life of their country club. As for Lizzie… well, as much as Lynn’s older sister loved to joke about her lil sibling doing all the big milestones before her, there was one thing that she didn’t count on. Lizzie had a kid, and with her oldest friend no less. Shiloh and Lizzie had met again after that awkward encounter, and he’d apologized to her, with real feelings. They weren’t married yet or anything but things were going well for them, and they’d had a kid. Bertie, who was three. Lynn loved the little guy, and even though Cove and Shiloh were still awkward around each other as ever - the Holden-Cho family was good.
“Do you have the thing you told Ma you’d bring?” Lynn waved their hand over to Cove who laughed as he took a container out of the fridge.
“Of course. I made sure to tell Claude that she liked it so much when she came to visit. And yes, he promised to stop hitting on her.” He responded to his spouse’s question, watching as they slid earrings in while grabbing their keys. Lynn stopped short before doing anything else , feeling their husband’s eyes on their back the entire time.
“Can I help you, Mr. Holden?” Lynn’s face split into a sly, seductive smirk. Cove bit his lip as he went to grab his coat from the counter barstool.
“Why no, Mx.Holden, I was just admiring my ravishing spouse. You never cease to amaze me.” He mumbled as he closed the distance to them, Lynn using their hands to move his to their waist.
“And you never cease to be the cheesiest man alive. You’ve got to stop hanging out with those boys.” Lynn’s words were drawn from their lips as Cove pressed a kiss to them. No makeup, but lip balm this night.  Cove pressed another kiss, and then another to his spouse’s lips, before pressing their foreheads together with a happy, contented sigh.
“Normally I love being home with our families, but..”
“But..?”
“But I’d rather much take you back to our bedroom and show you how much I appreciate you.”
Lynn laughed at that and pulled away, heading to the shoe rack and front door.
“Come on handsome. I’ll let you show me later tonight.” Lynn slid some cute flats on, their slender fingers brushing against the anklet around their … well, ankle. Before heading for the door, Lynn shot a look back at their blushing husband, whose hands were empty.
“Don’t forget the food.”

Chim chimney, Chim Chim Cher-ee [One-Shot]
Summary: Thanksgiving with the Barnes-Roger-Barton Clan. Oh, and Tony.
Warnings:  FLUFFFFFFF. Hinting at the sexy times.
A/N: Everyone says they want to see what family dinners are like and I figured the biggest dinner of the year (for us Americas anyway) would be the perfect one to share. This is their first Thanksgiving together so it takes place 4 months chapter 17 in November. If you have not read the series Astrophile, THERE WLL BE MAJOR SPOILERS.
Catch up on the series here!
***My fics are not to be saved or posted on any other sites without my written permission. Reblogs are my jam, though! Thanks!*
Tumblr media
The morning went by fast. Faster than Y/n expected it to. Maybe it’s just that Y/n isn’t used to all this hustle on Thanksgiving. It’s been a long time since she had a Thanksgiving to celebrate with anyone. After her grandparents passed, she stopped cooking as much on the holidays and usually kept the shop open to pass the day. There isn’t much of a point in making some grand meal when it’s only her.
She does get pie though because it’s pie.
This year is nothing like she's used to. It started in Bucky’s bed, which isn’t anything new as of late, of course. She has a feeling it will become a permanent move here soon. For now, she’s okay bringing a bag over to spend a few days at a time. This morning though started with lazy kisses and slow touches. Quiet confessions of love, wanton whispers and soft panting that could only be heard by them.
The slow air of the morning ended not long after Ori flew through the front door with a flurry of excitement at noon, Steve, Sam  and Ollie in tow behind her. After spending the night with her uncles, she was very excited to see her parents this morning. Ori helped Y/n with desserts because that’s the family dinner rules -- whoever hosts only does sweet treats and the turkey.
About a hundred cookies sit on the counter now because they may have gotten out of control. They do that when they are together. Bucky knows it’s better to stand back and let them do their thing. Meddling never ends well. In hindsight, Y/n probably should have stopped Ori at seventy and skipped the last batch. She looked so cute picking which cutters to use and was so excited to decorate each one Y/n couldn’t tell her to scale her baking back.
Thankfully Uncle Steve saves the day.
Un-iced cookies abandoned for another day in favor of playing. Ori is hanging off Steve’s arm, feet hanging several inches off the ground as she stares at the wall of bookcases that hold everything from movies to books to toys and family pictures. She’s mulling over which movie is best for after dinner because that’s tradition, too.
Everyone eats until they can’t move, and then they can’t move to go home. Clint takes the couch for the night. Sam and Steve bunk in the spare room and Natasha shares Ori’s bed for a night of cuddling.  Which is why Y/n has apple pie and pumpkin cinnamon rolls for the morning and lots of coffee for Clint.
“This one, Uncle Stevie.”
Steve grins at his niece and takes Mary Poppins from her hand before she falls off his arm and scoops her up. He boops her nose with his making her giggle and he sighs dramatically, “Now how did I know you were going to pick this one? What if we pick a holiday one, Bucket?”
Ori thinks for a second, and her eyes light up with an idea.
“The Santa Clause!”
Steve grins and trades Mary Poppins for The Santa Clause.
“That is an excellent choice!”
Y/n sets her attention back to the pie in front of her -- now that the cookie adventure is over. Thankfully she prepped it yesterday, so it only needs a tweak to the streusel topping and placed in the oven. Bucky’s hand flitters along the edges of her dark blue skirt as he walks by, grazing the backs of her thighs and making her shiver. He smirks and shoots her a quick wink. He’s supposed to be tending to the turkey, not her, and she tells him so. There’s a dark chuckle rumbling through the room filled with more than humor, and it has her toes curling in her boots in want. Bucky abandons his flirting long enough to pull the turkey out of the oven.
Someone has to do the carving, or they will never eat.
A knock shuts the chatter down a bit. Someone at the door is strange, the whole family is already there. Bucky looks over just in time to see Tony sauntering inside, three white boxes in his hands that he’s quickly passing to Steve.
Perfect. Just perfect.
“Uh, Beck.”
“Hm?”
“What is Tony doing here?”
Her fingers freeze in the bowl of leftover streusel as Bucky’s arms wrap around her from behind. That deep voice resounds in her ear, and she can’t help but smile.
“Got somethin’ you need to share, sweetheart?”
So, she should have told him sooner, but sometimes surprises are good? Er, most of the time. This time they may not be.
“Okay, I know you guys don’t always get along, but he did throw our daughter a birthday party, and Pepper got stuck at some airport for work, so he was all alone. I couldn’t let him be all alone for Thanksgiving, Buck.”
Bucky smiles and kisses her cheek, letting his lips linger, and his arms tighten around her -- she’s always going out of her way for others, so why is he surprised it happened today?
“It’s fine. He’s not so bad.”
“There is this year’s hosts!” Tony says as he directs Steve where to place the boxes on the dining room table and grins at the couple. It was not that long ago, six months or so, that she was standing next to Tony.  The thought makes her freeze as if Bucky can hear her thoughts. He knows. Everyone knows they dated, but sometimes the reminder is… sobering. The three of them stand in awkward silence. Bucky’s hand still resting on the small of her back.
For an open floor plan, the house feeling very, very small right now.
Y/n clears her throat and wipes her hands on the constellation towel hanging on the sink next to her. “It’s good to see you, Tony. How is Pepper doing? Did she get a hotel, at least?”
“Oh, yeah. I made sure Pep is taken care of. She's all set up with room service.”
The silence returns, and Bucky is about to ask if he can get Tony something to drink because he can’t handle this discomfiture a second longer. He has to do something other than just stand there, and then Tony cuts the tension by being… well, Tony.
“You know,” Tony chuckles softly and looks at Y/n. “I just realized you’ve seen both of us naked. Talk about awkward. Am I right, big guy?"
Bucky stiffens next to her and the hand on her lower back twitches. Yes, he knows they dated, and he assumes they were together in that sense; he doesn't want to think about it, and he definitely doesn't want to hear about it from Tony.
"Tony…"
Y/n leans into Bucky's side and glares at Tony. "I don't think that's really--"
"Who's bigger, you think?" Tony asks, glancing between Y/n and Bucky. "You know what? Nevermind. The look on your face says it all."
Tony grabs two un-iced turkey-shaped cookies off the copper baking sheet still resting on the island and saunters back into the kitchen, leaving the couple alone. Y/n sighs and glances at her boyfriend, who is starting at Tony with a look she’s only seen once or twice, and it’s only ever been directed at Tony.
“I’m going to beat his ass before the night is out.”
“Buck…”
“I’m serious, Y/n. I’m finally going to do it. This is my year.”
She shakes her head, smiling fondly because Bucky is all bark and no bite and places a kiss to his cheek. “Tony is trying to mess with you to get a rise out of you. Besides, weren’t you the one that saw me naked last night?’”
Bucky’s pout fades into a grin, and he pulls her firmly against him, gripping her chin between his thumb and index finger and locking eyes.
“And again, this mornin’.” Bucky reminds her.
“Yeah, this morning. This morning was…” She tugs on his hair gently and continues in a low, raspy whisper. “Good, but next time let’s try to wake the neighbors.”
Bucky leans in, so their noses are bumping, and he whispers, “Why don’t you put the sugary pie stuff down and come upstairs for a minute? There’s somethin’ I gotta show you.”
The exaggerated wink he’s gives her makes her laugh and squirm for a reason she can’t say out loud.
“Right now?”
Y/n’s eyes dart out to the group in the living room that is unaware of what the two are discussing next to gingerbread pumpkins.
“Yeah, right now, Beck.”
Bucky places a kiss to her cheek, followed by a lighter one to the line of her jaw and one on the corner of her mouth.
“Y/n?”
Bucky’s smirk falls at the sound of Ori’s voice, sending the moment to a crashing halt. His head drops onto her shoulder, muffling his groan as Y/n looks down at the little girl. Y/n somehow holds back her chuckle long enough to ask what the she needs.
“Yes, starlight? What’s up?”
“Did you really go on a date with Uncle Tony before daddy?”
Bucky’s head snaps up at Ori’s question. “Uncle Tony? Who the hell--”
Y/n pinches Bucky’s side, effectively shutting him up, at least in front of Ori.
“Where did you hear that?”
“Uncle Tony said that he took you on a date, and it was the best one you’ve ever been on. You had cheeseburger and if it wasn’t for him daddy would have never told you he loved you.”
Bucky starts towards the living room, but Y/n grabs him by the shirt. “Yes, I did, starlight, but I’ll let you in on a secret.”
Ori’s eyes light up at the promise of a secret, and she steps closer to hear it.
“I was so in love with your daddy back then no one else stood a chance. Uncle Tony included, and my best date was our trip to the zoo.” Ori grins and waits for the nod meaning she can spill the secret. The second she gets permission, she runs back into the living room to tell Tony what she learned, and they can hear Tony’s laugh followed by a, “You got me there, kiddo.”
“You were in love with me, huh?”
Y/n turns her attention back to Bucky, and he’s grinning like an idiot in love. She is too. Her cheeks hurt from the size of her smile. She leans into his Bucky’s arm and gives him a chaste kiss. With the look in Bucky’s eyes, if she gives him more than that, the pie will never make it into the oven.
“I thought that was pretty obvious by now. It just took me a while to see it.”
“Pie’s got about 10 minutes after you put it in, right?’
“Mmm, about twenty.”
Bucky hooks his fingers in the belt loops of her skirt walks back towards the half bath next to the laundry. He gently guides her into the tiny bathroom and shuts the door as quietly as he can, so they go unnoticed. Bucky grips her hips and hoists her up onto the sink, swallowing her yelp with a lingering kiss.
“What are we doing, Buck?” Y/n asks between pecks.
“Gonna spend a little time kissin’ you. That okay, Beck?”
“Yeah,” she whimpers when his fingers trail up her inner thigh. “That’s okay.”
Twenty or minutes pass, and no one has seen or heard from Bucky or Y/n. Steve comes into the kitchen, peeks out the back window. No host or hostess. The turkey is uncarved. The pie is cold on the counter, but everyone’s sides are warming nicely on the stove.
“Where the hell is Buck?”
Natasha smirks at Steve’s naivete and nods towards the closed bathroom door where a soft glow pouring out from the crack between the floor.
“I think they are talking.”
Sam snorts and whispers for the adults in the room, “Making out like a couple of horny teenagers, you mean.”
“They always like that?” Tony makes a face, and Sam nods, mirroring his disgust.
“Yeah, it’s gross. All the time, and it’s all I hear about at work.”
“Well, the pie is cold.” Clint pokes the cold crust with his pinky and pouts. “What are we supposed to do for pie!”
“Relax, Barton. I brought three pies.”
“Clint…” Sam tugs the foil off the white casserole dish they brought and bends down to sniff the red, brown, and yellow pile of mush. “What the hell did you make?”
“It’s a cheesy hot dog tater tot casserole!”
Clint’s grinning from ear to ear, giving off that excited puppy face he has when he tries a new recipe. Tony leans up on his toes to peer over Sam’s shoulder and winces at the pile of slop in filling the 12-inch baking dish.
“Good God, that looks… I’m gonna level with you. It looks gross, Clint.”
Natasha pinches the bridge of her nose, takes several deep breaths, and looks at her husband, “I thought we agreed on broccoli casserole? It’s traditional and easy enough for you to make. I deleted Pinterest on your phone for a reason!”
“Yeah, but then peanut and I went out for lunch that day we watched her, and we got chili cheese dogs, and we both agree they are way better than broccoli.”
Natasha looks down at Ori, who is holding her hand beaming brightly, and the little girl nods, confirming Clint’s story. “They are, Aunt Nattie.”
“You’re lucky you’re so cute.”
“Thanks.” Clint beams proudly.
“Not you.” Natasha is quick to correct him. “You’re in trouble when we get home.”
Clint wiggles his brows and wraps his arms around Natasha’s waist, placing a kiss to her cheek and whispers in her ear. “You promise, baby?”
“Your niece is right there.” Steve scolds with the expression of an exhausted dad who just wants his kids to behave long enough that he can take a nap. He’s just grateful his son is far too little to understand what they are saying and fast asleep in the playpen in the living room.
“It’s bad enough we’ve got those two locked in the bathroom when we should be eating dinner.”
Sam marches to the bathroom and pounds on the door with his fist, quietly shouting through the thin wood frame, “You’ve got two minutes to get your butts out here, or we are eating without you.”
It takes a few thumps, and lots of giggles, but Bucky and Y/n emerge from the bathroom, clothes rumbled and grinning like teenagers caught getting handsy. Bucky clears his throat and slips his arm around her waist, resting his hand on her stomach.
“Sorry. There’s a light bulb out, and I need help the screws.”
“Right,” Y/n nods, fighting off a smile. “The screws are a pain to get off.”
“I bet those screws can be hard to get off sometimes, huh?” Sam asks, grinning smugly.
“Maybe everyone should mind their own damn business?” Bucky shoves Sam away without any real force. “Ever think about that?”
“Daddy?” Bucky looks down at Ori standing next to Natasha, brow raised, waiting for her to continue. “Why are you wearing Y/n’s lipstick?”
Y/n giggles at the dumbstruck look on his face. She reaches over and swipes her thumb along Bucky’s lip, wiping away bright red lipstick. His cheeks pink when he catches everyone staring their way and the smirk on Natasha’s face. Tony goes to open his mouth, and Beck holds her hand up.
“Let’s go eat, hm? We can deal with the cold pie later.”
“I told you, the pie is always the one thing that gets ruined. That’s why I come with pie.”
Plates are grabbed, turkey is being cut as everyone moves about the kitchen in a hustle to grab their favorites; stuffing and rolls and turkey. All taking their respective seats -- the ones that Ori assigned with colorful turkeys she hand-painted with Uncle Stevie. Ori sits between Steve and Tony with Oliver sleeping close by. Sam heading up the table with Natasha and Clint across from Bucky and Y/n. Somehow Clint’s casserole made it to the center of the table for everyone to try despite the attempt to keep it hidden.
Something about sitting down around the table quiets everyone down. No one cares about hot dogs or lipstick stains. Ori’s giggling as Tony tries to get Steve to put a mini marshmallow in his nose. Steve sets Tony with a flat look and a resigned sigh, mumbling, don’t teach my niece to put food in her nose, Tony. Clint is pushing his hot dog mess on Natasha, who takes a scoop hiding a grimace behind her smile. Sam stares at the lump Clint sets on his plate, and Tony asks for a second scoop.  Y/n leans back in her chair and takes in the sight in front of her.
Bucky leans over and kisses her cheek. “You okay, babydoll?”
“Yeah,” She sighs happily and leans against his shoulder. “I was just thinking this is a lot different than my last Thanksgiving is all. All the crazy is kind of nice.”
He grins and wraps his arm around her, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
“Yeah, the crazy is good, Beck. It’s all good.”
“Okay,” Tony silences the table with words that will no doubt be remembered till the end of time.
“The chili dog casserole is the winner.”
“Yes! High five peanut!”
Ori and Clint high-five across the table and Natasha hangs in her hand in her hands.
“Oh, vey!”

Thank you for tagging me, @tuliharja! Your responses were absolute pleasure to read <3
01: Do you have a good relationship with your parents?
Ans. I've a brilliant relationship with my mother, and my father wants to kill me, so that's that.
02: Who did you last say “I love you” to?
Ans. My grandmother.
03: Do you regret anything?
Ans. Yes, horribly.
04: Are you insecure?
Ans. Somedays I am, somedays I'm not. Just like everyone else.
05: What is your relationship status?
Ans. I'm single and sometimes sleep deprived.
06: How do you want to die?
Ans. You know, I've experienced a lot of things that should have killed me, but I really said no♥️.
Okay, this one is going to be long, because I feel the need to overshare. In 2018, a person I know and his friends played a ""harmless"" prank on me , and I ended up drowning quite deep. You know those dramatic movies where everything looks slow-mo? Yeah, that's how it felt like. Anyhow, I got out somehow and a kind stranger pulled me up so I was pretty away from water. I always found that prank weird because they took away everyone including life guards, distracted my buddy, barricaded all the shallow areas, but maybe it was simply harmless.
I didn't swim since then, and I was planning to get over my fear this year, but well, 2020 happened.
But having experienced that, when I die of age 2357754367 years, I'd like to die by drowning. I really really do.
If not, an assassination will do. Just make sure it's for a good cause.
07: What did you last eat?
Ans. Gouda.
08: Played any sports?
Ans. Yes, basketball and tennis, mostly. Sometimes, shooting.
09: Do you bite your nails?
Ans. Well no but actually yes.
10: When was your last physical fight?
Ans. I don't remember. I'm more of a pacifist.
11: Do you like someone?
Ans. Do fictional people count?
12: Have you ever stayed up 48 hours?
Ans. Yes, unfortunately. Never again.
13: Do you hate anyone at the moment?
Ans. Hate is a pretty strong word, so I'll pass.
14: Do you miss someone?
Ans. Yes, terribly.
15: Have any pets?
Ans. I used to have two chicks, and my grandmother, till recently, had two Labradors.
16: How exactly are you feeling at the moment?
Ans. Melancholic.
17: Ever made out in the bathroom?
Ans. Yuck. Never have, never will.
18: Are you scared of spiders?
Ans. Absolutely not. I think they're adorable.
19: Would you go back in time if you were given the chance?
Ans. I've been reading too many isekai manga, so yes.
20: Where was the last place you snogged someone?
Ans. I've never kissed anyone in that sense of the word.
21: What are your plans for this weekend?
Ans. Give tests, study, and organize a bit.
22: Do you want to have kids? How many?
Ans. I'm an ace. But when I actually have the financial income for it, I'll like to foster some kids, get them great degrees, and send them an emergency fund. I feel as if not many people are talking about the things foster kids face, especially teens and once they age out of the system. I'll pull an evil scientist and clone myself, if a need for someone young with my gene arises.
23: Do you have piercings? How many?
Ans. My ears were pierced traditionally.
24: What is/are/were your best subject(s)?
Ans. Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Politics, Economics, Geography, Statistics and Languages.
25: Do you miss anyone from your past?
Ans. Yes.
26: What are you craving right now?
Ans. Something I cannot name, for I don't know. Probably water.
27: Have you ever broken someone’s heart?
Ans. No, none that I know of, and definitely not on purpose.
28: Have you ever been cheated on?
Ans. As I said, mich Asexual. I've not been in a romantic relationship.
29: Have you made a boyfriend/girlfriend cry?
Ans. See above.
30: What’s irritating you right now?
Ans. These extremely important exams that are coming in few months.
31: Does somebody love you?
Ans. Yes, and it baffles me so.
32: What is your favourite color?
Ans. Blood Red and Prussian Blue.
33: Do you have trust issues?
Ans. Maybe. Not extremely, but just a bit. Harmless enough to not need intervention.
34: Who/what was your last dream about?
Ans. Well, yesterday I had a dream that my favourite characters were there and I was loved, and day before yesterday (Ereyesterday, if you will) I was getting chased by two murderous, ghostly, serial killing cows. They got me in the end, I think.
35: Who was the last person you cried in front of?
Ans. I don't cry in front of people. I cry alone.
36: Do you give out second chances too easily?
Ans. Unfortunately, yes.
37: Is it easier to forgive or forget?
Ans. Mostly, it is easier to forgive. But that's not an absolute answer or argument.
38: Is this year the best year of your life?
Ans. Well, the fate of this year depends on those super-important exams.
39: How old were you when you had your first kiss?
Ans. I've been kissed before I could even walk, I think. If you are thinking in the other sense of the word: well, I've never been kissed that way.
40: Have you ever walked outside completely naked?
Ans. Once, into the ocean. I was six.
51: Favourite food?
Ans. Tomatoes and Bell peppers. Shakshuka, Kuleybyaka, Thukpa, pickles—you name it. I guess anything traditional/homemade. Anything really, I love food.
52: Do you believe everything happens for a reason?
Ans. Yes, it does.
53: What is the last thing you did before you went to bed last night?
Ans. I prayed.
54: Is cheating ever okay?
Ans. No, it isn't.
55: Are you mean?
Ans. Nope. Not until you hurt people.
56: How many people have you fist fought?
Ans. As in, actually fought and not practiced, yes? Around six, all in self defense.
57: Do you believe in true love?
Ans. Yes, but not in the way it is portrayed.
58: Favourite weather?
Ans. Cold, with loads of sunlight, Snowing or Thunderstorms—I love the rain.
59: Do you like the snow?
Ans. Yes!
60: Do you wanna get married?
Ans. No♥️
61: Is it cute when a boy/girl calls you baby?
Ans. No, it activates my fight-or-flight.
62: What makes you happy?
Ans. Stars, books, people being happy, the way you see a stranger's day getting better, winning/accomplishments/success, stationary, hugs, libraries, zoos—it doesn't take much, really.
63: Would you change your name?
Ans. I might. Not change it, but add more names to it.
64: Would it be hard to kiss the last person you kissed?
Ans. Nope, it was my mother. Not hard at all.
65: Your best friend of the opposite sex likes you, what do you do?
Ans. Tell them, as lovingly and kindly as I can, that I do not like them that way, that I'm not looking for a relationship, and that I'd rather be friends. Also tell them that I'll be the world's coolest winggirl ever, so....
66: Do you have a friend of the opposite sex who you can act your complete self around?
Ans. Yes.
67: Who was the last person of the opposite sex you talked to?
Ans. It was a classmate.
68: Who’s the last person you had a deep conversation with?
Ans. A family member.
69: Do you believe in soulmates?
Ans. Yes, but I don't believe anyone is "perfect" for you. You've got to work on your relationships, no matter what kind they are. Also, soulmates are not necessarily only one, and not necessarily romantic, or so I hope.
70: Is there anyone you would die for?
Ans. Yes, many. Without second thoughts or regrets.

Life Simulators
Tinkering with life simulators are a guilty pleasure for me. The chaos of procedurally generated lives keep me far too interested. My mind fills in the blanks creating the story of these rich lives. It kind of goes against what I was talking about yesterday, but I think I said it was an issue up for debate? Well, if I didn't, you can basically say that about everything. Newtonian Physics was the only way to view the Universe until it wasn't after all.
Anyway, I'm going to drop the life of Alexandra Miller, a character who was able to live most of her life with perfect stats. Is this for posterity or just for me to keep a semi-obsessive record? Also this might be in multiple parts. Hmm, maybe I should turn this into an exercise.
Born in Sydney, Australia, my parents conceived me on a nude beach. Cate Miller, my mother, never knew who my father was, and never cared to find out. She was a 40 year old history teacher. She quickly found and married Samuel Hornsby, a 33 year-old army enlistee with a son, Kobe.
Alexandra (Lex) had trouble getting along with her new family at first. Samuel didn't want to take 3 year old Lex to the zoo when she asked, and she got into a fight with Kobe where she got so mad that she licked him on the forehead.
To help Lex feel welcome, Cate got her daughter a boxer named Baxter! Lex was very serious about taking care of Baxter, giving him baths at the age of 4 and feeding peas for treats. Her family warmed up to her, with Kobe talking to Lex about how scary the toilet was and Samuel discussing Lex's imaginary friend.
When Lex started school, she was anxious about the other kids. Some of them didn't seem to like her. In particular Ariana was always giving Lex the stink eye. Lex tried to be her friend. Ariana responded by telling Lex to jump off and calling her a sausage shark! Lex gave up on trying to make peace with Ariana and instead tried to be nice to everyone in class, showering them with compliments. She became friends with Ayla, the first girl to talk to her, as well as the smart cookie Clive. Lex cared so much about her grades in Kindergarten that she studied until her eyes were sore.
At the age of 6 Lex went to Pompei with her family and starting taking piano lessons. She learned to enjoy reading, finishing Corduroy and Stellaluna by herself.
At age 7, Lex became friends with revolutionary Archie and stylish Eleanor. One of her fondish memories of her father Samuel happened this year, when he took her sky diving! Afterwards, he gave her a compass that had been in his family for three generations. Whenever Lex was lost, she could look at the compass and know where to go.
When I turned 8, Lex's step brother Kobe became a cadet for the Sydney Police Department and moved out of the house. Continuing this theme of people leaving her, Baxter ran away from home. With compass in hand, Lex looking for her dog and found him hiding in a bush! They ate lemons together and hated it. In addition to piano lessons, Lex started taking taekwondo and voice lessons and dreamed of becoming a pop star.
An avid reader and compulsive studier, Lex was having trouble with her eyes at age 9, but the optometrist said she wouldn't need glasses if she just studied in the light. When she got a yellow belt, she learned how to perform the eagle strike in taekwondo.
Lex was content that some people would never like her, but those that showed her kindness, she'd always go out of her way to talk to them. She felt extremely luck to have so many amazing people in her life.
Kobe became a Patrolman, but Lex's 11th year would be anything but safe. Lex fell out of bed and hurt her jugular. She was bed ridden for 5 days. Baxter got in a street fight with another dog and died. Ayla helped Lex get over losing her dog and the two became best friends.
Sixth grade was the year of the great Disney movie debate, where Lex's entire class argued about which was the best Disney movie. Clive wanted to sneak into a neighbor's house to get a box of Reese's Puffs, but Lex stopped him from taking a suspicious risk. Lex was finally old enough to go to the library by herself and she started going there every week.
At the start of secondary school, Lex joined the school's orchestra! She did 26 hours of babysitting for a neighbor. She tried out for water polo but had too much trouble breathing to focus on the ball at the same time. She started going to the local gym and focus on breath control. Lex found that diving helped her get better and ended up joining the diving team instead. She started working with her mother on the garden. Her mother Cate said that the garden always reminded her of Lex.
Lex will always remember the day before her fourteenth birthday, because she met a boy from another school, Chase Edwards. After spending some time together, Chase asked to kiss her and she gave him her first kiss. When she felt him opening his lips she pulled back and decided not to spend any more time with him. A few months later, Lex went to a party with Ayla. Ayla spun the bottle and it landed on Lex. Ayla seemed like she wasn't sure if she was ready to kiss a boy, so Lex went into the closet with her. Once they were inside, Lex realized that she wanted to kiss Ayla, but didn't have the courage to try anything. Their seven minutes in heaven turned into seven minutes that were very much on Earth. Lex vowed to not live life in fear and focused on her taekwondo, earning her blue belt. While at the gym training for dive, she was asked out by Connor Robinson, and agreed to date him. Lex did work as a babysitter and lawn mower, and used that money to pay for her first mani-pedi. She joined instagram just to show off her nails. She was meditating a lot on the nature of the world and joined her school's recycling club. If all of that wasn't enough, she started taking guitar lessons.
Lex and her acne ridden boyfriend, Connor, snuck into Lex's attic, and found her mom's camcorder. There wasn't anything interesting. Lex became her orchestra's section leader and her mom, Cate, gave her a BMW after acing her driving test. Feeling like an adult, 15 year old Lex decided to go on birth control, and her mom had no objections. Ayla joined the art club, and Lex partied with her and her friends. She realized that she still had feelings for Ayla, but Ayla confessed that she was into one of her club mates and so Lex decided not to act on her feelings and stay with Connor. Ayla got a boyfriend and Lex felt like she was ready to commit to Connor.
Her sixteenth birthday was an emotional high point for Lex, and she felt like she was happy for no real reason. She became concertmaster of her school's orchestra. Everything was going great and she decided that she wanted to take things to the next level with Connor. Connor wasn't interested in sex before marriage, so she broke up with him. Her friend, Clive, helped her get over the break up by getting mani-pedis with her and they became best friends. Ayla had recently become single and so against Clive's advice, Lex decided to ask Ayla out on a date. Ayla rejected her, but said that she was willing to still be friends. Lex wasn't over her but gave up after her attempts at flirting continued to go nowhere. Lex's tutoring gig let her work with grown men from college. Clive thought one client was a pimp.
Kobe became a Corporal, Lex became dive team captain, and the family had a big party to celebrate. Lex told all of her friends that she was pansexual and everyone was more interested in going to the movies.
Lex decided to study biology at university. She met Charlie Edgecliff at the gym and asked him out. On their first date Charlie took her yodeling. After going to the movies, Lex gave her virginity to him. Lex joined the university's orchestra and swim team. For Charlie's 20th birthday, Lex took him cliff diving. They had a serious talk about cloning and decided that it would be cheating to hook up with a clone of your partner.
Lex's ex boyfriend Connor went to Lex's 19th birthday party and tried to get back together with her. Lex told him off without needing to use her brown belt in taekwondo. Between swim team, uni, and hooking up with Charlie, Lex was not only busy, but happy.
Lex became the section leader in her orchestra and somehow found time to do tutoring to pay for the many dates she went on with Charlie. She wanted to look her best for him and got Brazilians and laid on the tanning bed. She loved her body and her boyfriend, but one day at the tanning bed, she got out and threw up all over the floor. When she went to the doctor, they told her she had skin cancer. Lex had maybe five years to live. Lex couldn't accept that, she needed to try other options. When Lex talked to Connor about going to see a witch doctor, he laughed at her. She broke up with him and saw a spiritualist from Mexico. The woman told Lex to eat chihuahua hair as part of a ritual. Lex did and her cancer was miraculously gone! The 20 year old Lex had a new lease on life and she wasn't about to spend that life being single. She met the buff Kylie Mills, and dated her. Within a week they were not only girlfriends, but they were talking about moving in together.
At the age of 21, Lex took her girlfriend Kylie to Kobe's marriage. Sergeant Kobe had married a school teacher, Kiara. At the reception, Lex's old friend Archie joked with her about how weird it was that he was dating one of his mom's coworkers, even if she was only 34. Lex liked Archie's dark humor and the two became best friends. Lex kept tutoring, swimming, playing, studying, and dating. She climbed up onto a try with Kylie and school children taunted them to kiss. They made out while the sun set.
The love of Lex's life, Kylie, graduated and became a Pilot Trainee for Salls Air. Kobe and Kiara divorced after having only been together for thirteen months. Six months later, Kobe was a father to a little girl named Kylie. After graduation, 22 year old Lex got a job as a Jr. Environmental Scientist at Pacific Consulting.
Not hindered by his divorce, Kobe got promoted to Inspector. 23 year old Lex, put everything she had into her job, working more and more overtime. She was determined to buy her own place and marry the woman she loved. Things wouldn't be the same as Kobe.
Kobe had another daughter, a girl named Hazel. No one really talked about who the mother was, but they were proud of him for taking her into his family. Lex's research discovered that used condoms were threatening the lives of duck billed platypus, so she engineered a biodegradable condom. This got her a promotion at work. Feeling like she could do anything, the 24 year old Lex read War and Peace. She purchased a ring of alexandrite and proposed to Kylie. She said "yes." They were going to get married!
At Cate's retirement party, Lex realized she'd been with Kylie for 5 years! Thought the two were madly in love, Kylie's financials were in doubt. She had a lot of debt and her job wasn't even covering her student loans. At Lex's mom's retirement part, she learned that Cate was actually independently wealthy, owning some 3 million dollars in stocks and bonds. Lex's brother was the one who brought this up, because he was pretty sure the two of them were going to get a million dollars each. He told Lex to look out for Kylie, because she could divorce her and take hundreds of thousands from her. Lex knew in her heart that she could trust Kylie, but when she saw a male proustite on the street, she found herself tempted. Maybe their relationship wasn't perfect. The still Jr. Engineer, Lex, asked her boss for a promotion, but despite having come up with a new condom, she was denied.
For Lex's 26th birthday, she went to Comic Con with her coworker Bella and her friend Eleanor. Eleanor became her best friend. Lex worked while sick with the common cold and got a raise. She applied for a mortgage and bought a town home on Evans Manor. Her mom had to help her pay for the place, because Kylie's financials were all tied up in her debt.
After celebrating Lex's niece Kylie's birthday, her fiance, Kylie wanted to get married. Lex was still house poor and asked her parents to pay for the wedding. They agreed. They were going to be wed within the year. Lex had a short battle with athlete's foot. She was really starting to think of her own mortality and the mortality of her mother. After going paintballing with her step father, Lex decided that Kylie needed to sign a prenup. When Kylie refused, Lex made her promise to wait to get married until Kylie could stand on her own two feet. Kylie wasn't happy and the two stopped having sex. Lex begged Kylie to go to couples counseling, but Kylie wouldn't try. It was then that Lex knew she needed to end things with her fiance. The 27 year old Lex cut down on her hours at work and decided to focus on herself. She had a one night stand with Archie Irvine and realized that it wasn't for her. She wanted something long term and went online to date Ariana Evans. Their first date was a parkour exercise. And even though things went well, Lex wasn't ready to start getting physical with Ariana. Ariana told Lex that she was willing to take things slow.
After giving her all to a company that didn't seem to appreciate her and a fiance that wanted everything, it was only after Lex stopped caring that things finally started to change. At age 28, Lex was finally promoted to Environmental Scientist. Ariana took Lex for a photoshoot to celebrate and the two finally got physical. It was then that Ariana admitted to Lex that she didn't need to work. She was independently wealthy, being worth nearly 5 million dollars from her family's wealth. Lex threw a party at her house and Ariana was content to live separately.
Lex was falling for Ariana, but she didn't want her to think she was after her fortune. She asked her mother to pay for the wedding, and Cate agreed. Lex bought a $500 platinum ring and proposed to the millionaire, Ariana. Lex took Ariana to a football game and proposed on screen. Ariana said "yes!"
At the age of 30, Lex finally married Ariana. There was only one catch, a prenup. Lex laughed and agreed to the prenup, explaining that her mom was also wealthy. When the time came to go on a honeymoon, the two women realized they'd rather just stay local and be with friends and family. Lex took Ariana's last name, becoming Alexandra Evans.

sunshine in L.A.
Tumblr media
A/N: kind of an original character piece but also not entirely.  i just was having a great time writing! hope you folks enjoy!
word count: 3k
There was something about her twenties that never felt quite right, worn like a sweater a size to large. She watched as her friends floated from relationships and friendships seamlessly, while she felt caught. In what exactly, she wasn’t sure. Part of her hoped with time that feeling would fade, become background static instead of pumping along with her heartbeat. Going with the current, she did exactly what was expected of her. Attended college, albeit a community college, but college none the less. Part time work covered what financial aid wouldn’t, even scraping enough together to buy a beater car.
Time drifted on and the feeling stayed, haunting and hollow. Avoiding the problem didn’t lessen its size but it never grew. In the back of her mind constantly. Social media was the worst part, watching her friends flourish and flower, while it took everything in her to remain sane and present. Two years flew by in the blink of an eye and she were left with a tiny degree she was not sure she really wanted. When the opportunity did present itself, she knew it was one she could not possibly pass up.
She knew that even in L.A these demons could surface but maybe the constant sun could choke them out. Packing her meager belongings into the back of her car, she pointed it in the direction of L.A. Whether she actually ended up in the sunshine state wasn’t the point, but rather, it was to get out. Stop the cycle before it became the only focal point of her life. It took longer than it should’ve, she passed the days slowly. Each spent behind the wheel simply heading west.
L.A. was a zoo. She worked your way through the city with fascination and hopefulness. She was certain of one thing and uncertain of many. She hoped to write but was willing to do just about anything to make money. Well, just about anything, she still harbored some self-respect.
L.A. had of a way of worming its way into your heart, no matter how shitty people made it seem. Each self-respecting L.A citizen hated the city as much as they loved it. She found a decent studio apartment, managed to get a job as a barista quickly, and spent the first month slinging caffeine in the daytime and writing into the wee hours of the morning. Cash was always tight, considering she did live in one of the most expensive cities, but there was semblance of happiness. It was clawing it’s way in on the edges of her life.
The customers were not particularly strange, at least not always. There were a couple of memorable moments, but most days passed by in monotony. She knew customers by their orders, not names. These small moments between the register and picking up their coffee offered she a small window into their world. These hints they dropped left her wondering about their lives outside their order and these four walls. Who were these people who flocked to the shop like cattle to slaughter?
She certainly played favorites, every barista did, with both customers and coworkers. There were those who made the days a little brighter. The first was her coworker James. Somewhere in his twenties like her but an old soul. He came to work in sweaters, cooper rimmed circular glasses, and disheveled hair on the daily. He was welcoming and warm and chased away some of the darkness.
The two of them became instant friends. He would wait after work to hang out, get drinks on the weekend, and spend Sunday brunch complaining about his hangover. At first, she was confronted with the concern that maybe he was worming into her life in hopes of it ending in a relationship, but as soon as she met his boyfriend Scott, that fear was put to rest. In a way, she chose the two of them as family. She spent countless hours with them, at ease with the way things were.
In James, she confided most of her fears and a lot of her guilt. The backstory of her life surprising him but explaining the front she put up. Tragedy often bores the strongest soldiers. In the year she had been in L.A, James helped her pick up the pieces and put herself together, an unrepayable favor. Thanksgiving was right around the corner and she were destined to spend it with James and Scott.
“James, I’m running to the grocery store after work and if you play your cards right there might just be a bottle of Prosecco with your name on it.” she joked over the espresso machine, a sly smile on her lips. James and her always bantered at work, often to the amusement of the customers and other coworkers.
James matches her smile, “Oh honey, you act like I would actually need to play my cards to get it, I’ve got you wrapped around my finger.” He chuckles and turns back to the drawer. The day was getting late, closing time just mere hours away. She was practically counting down the hours till she could curl up on his couch and binge “New Girl”, the new obsession for the two of them.
“I like to pretend it’s the other way around, but I would admit you are right, James. But besides that, anything else?” she asked, hardly looking at him. There was unspoken communication between you two most days, a glance could tell a story. “I was thinking pizza this fine Wednesday night. But I’m certainly open to suggestions.”
“And break the Wednesday night pizza tradition, how absurd!” James feigns hurt, a hand over his heart and concerned expression painting his face. “The table is already set, we can’t go making changes now, silly girl.”
“Then pizza and prosecco it is. Perfect.” She giggled and sent a curt nod in his direction. The entire conversation was an open invitation for him to change the plans, but he never did. Wednesday night was always reserved for the two of them. They devoured pizza and whatever show they were working on. It was sacred to them both.
The rest of the day passed quickly, the sun just barely setting when she and James locked the shop doors. A brief hug and a quick exchange of words and the two of them were off in opposite directions. A pit stop at the grocery store and then to James’ place. He would order the pizza in, as per tradition. Tasked with grabbing the drinks and whatever bits she needed, she would be to his place shortly.
Her car sat tucked in the back lot, warm from sitting in the sun. Cranking the window open once she had climbed inside, turning on the radio, she set off to the grocery store. It was smaller than most that scattered around L.A, which is why it was her favorite. She did not have to fight the yoga obsessed mothers to get through the aisles or hope the hipsters didn’t pick through the all the good stuff before she got a chance to be there. The old man, who she assumed owned it, knew her by name. Often, he would gift products just a day out of date to her. He did save your ass more than once.
“Charles, what’s the good word for today?” She asked, swinging the door open and nabbing a basket.
Smiling, he gushed, “I beat the finalist in Jeopardy today, but I’m here and he’s there,” shrugging he went on, “I put some of those cookies you like in the back, they went out of date yesterday, Dandelion.” Charles had been using the nickname since she had started coming here. She was totally convinced he had to be her guardian angel. When she asked him where it came from, his response surprised her. “Like the weed, you always come back. You are full of fire and strong. I can see it.” She felt partial to this grocery store. She ended up here for a reason.
“Great, I was craving something sweet all day. Remind me, I have got something for you in my bag before I go. Don’t worry, nothing poisonous.” Jokingly she added.
Charles had a love for Jim Harrison. Often when she was browsing at old bookstores or garage sale’s she would stumble across one for him. He probably owned nearly every single book published by Harrison, but always acted thankful and surprised when she presented him with another. She wanted to make sure he knew how much she appreciated him in a way of more than just saying thank you.
She scanned the aisles looking for the familiar packaging of her favorites. She hardly noticed the boy till she had practically run into his back.
“Another one in Charles good graces, a rare species.” He teased.
Chuckling, “That must mean there are people on Charles bad side, which I highly doubt.” He was home strung, as far as she could tell. Clean cut and not looking for a lot of attention, judging by his all black attire. “I’m assuming you’re one of the lucky ones, too.” She implored.
“Thankfully, I have managed to make my way into one of his chosen few. Even without it, I would still come here. This is the only grocery store where I don’t have to cross my fingers and hope all the good stuff isn’t picked over. Charles seems to have a force field to keep this place hidden. Certainly, the best kept secret of L.A.,” he pauses, searching your face, “you work at the coffee shop on Sunset, Eight-Fold Coffee, right?”
“Guiltily is charged, Mr. iced latte with almond milk,” tapping your temple, “steel trap. I only know people’s drinks, not their names, sorry. I was wondering if you looked familiar or if it was just the lighting.”
Extending a hand, cheekily responding, “David. The name’s David Dobrik, or iced latte if you please.”  His smile was easy and charming, you couldn’t help but stare. His entire posture oozed ease, you couldn’t quite decide if he was trying to flirt or simply be friendly. Of course, that wonderful friend called self-doubt started to crawl its way into your chest, so it was time to go.
Flashing him what you hoped was a friendly parting smile, “Y/N. Y/N Y/L/N. It was nice finally meeting in more than just an ‘iced latte with almond milk’ kind of way. I’ll see you around. I have promised the roommate a night in and if I don’t come through, the world might stop turning.” Turning on her heel, tossing David a small wave, she headed for the register. All the things she needed forgotten.
She set the single bottle on the counter and wait for Charles to ring it up. Silence elapses, you lost entirely in your own thoughts.
“Dandelion?”
“Huh, what?” she missed what he asked, cheeks flushing at him catching her in dreamland.
“Lots on your mind today?” Charles inquired, a knowing look on his face.
Smiling and rolling her eyes, “I respect the fishing for a morsel of mind but maybe when inquiring minds aren’t near.” she winks. Digging in your bag, she pulls the book for him, Returning to Earth, out. “I found it at a garage sale this weekend and thought you could add to your collection. But this one, is to expand your horizons.” She pulls The Pleasures of the Damned by Charles Bukowski out. “I’ll need it back but keep it as long as you need, I know where to find you. See you around Charles.” She pays and get ready to go, sneaking one last glance in David’s direction. Grabbing onto her bag with the prosecco and cookies tucked in, she heads for the doors. One last look to the aisles and she can see David still tucked amongst them, scouring for something in the sea. A shake of her head and she is out the doors.
Tossing the bag in the passenger seat, she meanders down the streets towards James. A stampede of thoughts about David comes and goes. It was just mutual acknowledgement that the two of them did in fact kind of know each other. Yet, she found herself wondering if she should tell James about him, see if he had any insight on the guy. The thought felt foolish considering it was just a run in at the grocery store, nothing more.
Charles knew more about her then he let on. He knew her heart was kind but had been through a lot, he knew you were loyal and strong, but he knew also knew when her heart would tell you who to let in. David did not need much from that grocery store, mostly some alone time. His inquiring mind also wanted some more information on the barista who stole his breath away. As he left that day, Charles told him something he would carry with him for a while. “People like her, they guard their hearts, but hers is golden. It won’t always be shut.”
Opening the door to James and Scott’s apartment, she could smell the pizza. Her mouth was already watering. James rounded the corner into view between the small kitchen and living.
“I was beginning to wonder if you bailed.” He poked.
“On you, never.” Rolling her eyes.
“I am almost flattered.” He made for the bag in her hand, noticing the cookies right away. “Charles treats you like your one of his own grand kids. One of the people placed on that golden list.”
“About Charles coveted list, I ran into a guy from the coffee shop. David? Iced latte with almond milk, dresses like an unemployed ninja. Do you know anything about him?” She asked trying to keep the hopeful tone from her voice.
James searches her face before continuing. “A sudden interest in a customer, more like prominent interest. I’ve noticed the favorites you play with him.” He flashes you a joking grin. “I don’t know much about him honestly. I’ve heard whisperings from the other baristas that he has some youtube channel, not much else. He seems nice.” Bumping his shoulder with hers, “It wouldn’t hurt if you tried to be friends with him. It’s not a crime to branch out. I would not be insulted if you did. I worry that maybe you don’t because I take up a lot of your time.”
“Certainly not, you take up a perfect amount of my time. I just, remember how hard it is for me to be friends with people, I guess. I am a lifelong hermit. Plus, if he’s doing that whole ‘social media career’, he might not be the kind of friend I want.” Socializing was never her strong suit and if David’s preferred choice was blasting his life across the platforms, maybe she would take a pass.
The two of you vegged out on the couch way past what was a reasonable time, both scheduled to open tomorrow. He was on her mind all night, the little she knew about him had her mind doing circles. He seemed innocent enough, a good guy if Charles liked him.
The sun shown through the windows all morning, bringing a warming light to the coffee shop. All day you hoped he would pop in, yet, it went unanswered. Clocking out, she nabbed her notebook and a mug of coffee, making her way to the bank of windows along the window. She tried to keep her mind from wandering, yet it seemed impossible. Perhaps she scared him off.
“I figured you were a writer. Nobody suggests poetry books, Bukowski especially, unless they are a writer. Or terribly sad, but judging by the notebook, I’d say the first.” David said, standing next to you bathed in the afternoon sun. He looked as though he just woke up but in a delicious way. His hair was messy and his eyes warm. She could not help but bath in the light emanating from him.
A small smile spread on her lips, “You’re a fan?”
“I saw it on Charles counter on my out yesterday. A simple Google Search did the trick. Guy seems kind of dark for you.” A blush plays on David’s cheeks. “I was hoping to run into you today. Listen, me and my friends are going to this party tonight, would you be interested?”
“Uh,” glancing behind the counter you see James shaking his yes vigorous, “sure, why not?” It seemed in David’s presence, the hole in her chest seemed to lessen some.

Spending Valentinsday together - Hyung Line
A/N: Hey everyone! So here are the dates for the hyung line. It was more difficult for me to write them than the Maknae Line. But I did my very best and hope you like it. Vanessa :)
genre: fluff word count: 2,2K

“Tickets, please,” the zoo employee asked you. “Oh, wait. I put them in my wallet.” Namjoon said and searched in his jacket pocket for his wallet. After a few seconds he found it but only for searching the tickets. The staff raised one eyebrow. “I know they must be somewhere,” he excused. “It´s okay when you can´t find them, Joonie. We will buy it again. It wasn`t that much.” You cheered him up because you were used to his Scatterbrainedness. People asked you sometimes if it wasn´t exhausting but the truth was: that was one point why you loved him. Things never would be boring with him. “Ah, I found it. I told you I put them in my pocket.” You smiled when he gave the staff your tickets and he let you in. It was a sunny afternoon and for February it felt like spring. After Namjoon had spent the last days working on writing new lyrics he asked you yesterday if you would like to spent the afternoon with him. He needed the distraction from work sometimes especially when he did the same thing the last 72 hours. After he visited a public location and absorbed the environment he felt fit enough to return to work. “How does it goes with the lyrics?” you asked him and curled up in his arm. “We are making good progress. Half of the songs are finished and the next step are our solo songs. Everyone is working on his own now to create something what match with our personalities,” He explained. When it came to producing music you he was clearly the expert. “And do you know what your song should be about?” “Yes I think its gonna be about you,” he simply said. “Em about me? “ “Yeah about what love really means. It is just a little simple word but everyone perceives it in a different way. We usually don´t notice it until it`s happen and realize that someone has become really meaningful and important to you... and that`s what happen to me,” he took your hands and stroked his thumb over your hand. “I really fell for you,” he said a little bit shyly. “I fell for you as well,” you smiled and leaned towards him that you can kiss him softly. After a few minutes you two went on the path and came to the aquarium. Of course he had to go at to the crabs first. He watched them fascinated. “Do you knew that crabs aren`t that stupid as everyone thinks? They have complex learning abilities and a spatial memory. It has been scientifically proven that they can find their way even in a labyrinth.” “Oh really? How have they prove it?” You asked him and watched how his eyes began to shine when he explained you ‪the experiment‬ and you went to the next Aquarium. “Last month I read an article about dolphins memory. It is similar to that of humans.” he chaired his knowledge with you. “I also read something like that. Dolphins can still remember former companions after more than 20 years,” you answered. It wasn`t strange to talk about topics like that. You loved his knowledge and that you learned so much new information. He gave you a soft smile and kissed your fingers softly before he put an arm around your shoulder. It made you realise how happy you were.

“You look so beautiful princess,” he told you when you walked down the stairs and stood in front of him. You wore your new blue dress you bought few days before. The heart cut-out underlined you Décolleté perfectly and your long hair fell over your shoulders in curls. He made you blush with his comment and you smiled shyly. “Thank you, I was scared that you don´t like the dress because one time you said that you prefer light colours.” “Even when I told you this it didn´t mean that you weren´t allowed to wore something dark. Also it match perfectly with you eye colour. I like it a lot,” he pulled you towards him to connect your lips. “I have something for you. I found it in London and it reminded me of you.” He pulled a rectangular box out of his jacket pocket and opened it carefully. The content let you took a sharp breath. It was a necklace with a butterfly which was decorated with little decent sparkling stones. It was really beautiful. Softly you stroke with your fingertips over the pendant. “It is really beautiful Jinnie, but it looks like it cost a fortune. You know that I don´t want you to spend so much money on me.” “Yes I know it, that is a reason why I love you. You are not interested in my money and that doesn't let me hesitate when I want to buy a gift for my princess.” He took the necklace from the box and you turned around that he could put it around your neck. You felt the pleasant coldness of the metal on your Décolleté and his fingertips which stroke gently your hair away from your neck so that he could close the gap. Slowly you turned towards him. “And how do I look?” You asked him with a bright smile. “Handsome as her boyfriend. The prize for the handsomest couple on earth goes to us,” he laughed loud and you playfully punch his arm. “Are we ready to leave?” You asked him. He gave you his arm so you can hook up with him. Together you went to his car. You two wanted to spent the evening at a new restaurant which celebrated his opening today. It was the first evening together after he was back from his tour. Three month you didn´t saw each other so you couldn´t really believe it that he was finally back home now. You often didn´t know for how long it was so you enjoyed every moment together. When you arrived the car he opened the door for you but before you could enter he held you by your arm. You looked at him questioningly and he cupped your face between his hands and his thumb stroke softly above your cheek. You leaned into his touch. “I`m really happy that I`m home now. I really missed you princess.” “I`m also happy that you are by my side again, I love you.”

The sun shined in your face caused you to blink. Tired you pulled the blanket above your head and groaned. It couldn´t be later than half past eight and that was really early for you. You turned around to the other side of your bed, but it was still empty. You sighed and stroke with your finger tips above the sheets. Another night where he didn't came home. It was normal that he spent one or two nights a week in his studio but now it was the third night in a row. You slid to his side and cuddled your face into his pillow inhaled his smell which was still on it. Slowly your eyes closed and you fell back to sleep. The second time this morning you were awakened but this time it was because someone pecked your lips softly. You opened your eyes slowly and looked in the dark eyes of your boyfriend. “Yoongi, you`re home,” you smiled and pulled him closer to you. “I´m sorry I have left you alone the last few days but there was so much to do.” “It is okay, I know how busy you are. You don´t have to explain anything. I´m glad that you are home now,” you kissed him softly and he put his hand on your neck because he knew how much you loved this. Your lips moved tender against each other and you felt how his tongue against your bottom lip which let you sighed. He ended the kiss with another short peck and said: “As much as I want to do things with you now but then the breakfast will get cold.” You smiled because it was a long time ago since you two could ate breakfast together. Often you had to wake up very early, to early for him. You stood up and went with him to the kitchen where he set the table with all things he knew you loved. It was a breakfast like you knew it from your home country. So the table was full with bread rolls, croissants, marmalade, cheese and so on. You eyes grew big. It was really difficult to find these things in Korea because it was really untypical to eat these things for breakfast. It was a lot of work to organized something like this. “Yoongi, where did you got all this?” “Near our studio opened a international supermarket so one part I bought there. Yeah, that was the easiest. For the other things I searched through the net and the croissants I made on my own. I hope they are good.” You hugged him tight. “Thank you so much.” “You know that I love you, right?” he said a little bit shy. It wasn´t often that he said these magical three words. So you knew that it meant a lot for him to say it to you. “Yes, I know it. I love you as well.” The next half an hour you spent together eating and talking about the things you missed. When you started to tidy up the kitchen your gaze felt on the calender and you noticed the date. You looked to Yoongi and watch him cleaning the table. You smiled softly. Valentinsday wasn`t important for you. Anyway it made you happy that even when Yoongi wasn´t the cheesy type of boyfriend he showed you his feelings with these little gesture on a day which stood for everything about love. You went to him and pull him close to you. “Soo now where we are ready, what do you think? Do you wanna go shower with me?” You asked him in a deeper voice. “Good suggestion and I promise you it's not just gonna be about taking a shower.” You smiled and dragged him towards the bathroom.

Hoseok
Thank god it`s Friday! That was a horror week. You loved your job as a teacher but sometimes it was hair-raising. Especially when they plotted against you and there was no other solution then gave them detention. That turned in angry parents which called you late in the evening and told you how incompetent you were. You did well not to spent much thoughts about that but sometimes it caught up with you, like today. You entered the apartment and leaned yourself with your back against the door, fought against the emerging tears. “Jagiya? Everything fine?” You heart your boyfriend called. “I`m fine,” you tried to say but your voice betrayed you. Hobi came with fast steps out of the living room. “Sunshine, what happened? Why do you cry? I don´t want you to be so upset.” “It will be over in a minute, I promised.” He cupped your face between his hands and stroke carefully your tears away. “Whatever it is, it isn't as bad as you thought. You know what? I let you in a hot bath and then you told me everything. Okay? How sounds that?” You tried to smile. “Thank you, that would be great.” He dragged you to the living room and told you to wait until the bath is ready. You loved his caring type. He noticed every time when you are sad or didn´t feel good and he always knew exactly what he could do to make you feel better. After a few minutes he called you. “Jagi, the bath is recessed.” Slowly you entered the bathroom where he waited and helped you to undress. You sighed when you got into the tub because the hot water made your muscles relax. You leaned back and closed your eyes. Hobi took a sponge and let the warm water ran over your shoulders. “Do you wanna tell my what made you so upset?” He asked after a while when he noticed you got calmer and you began to tell about your horrible week. He was a great listener and never gave you the felling that what you were saying was shit. Hobi understood your thoughts. “I know it was right to keep them in detention and I also know that there exist always people which aren´t pleased with me. I don´t know exactly why it made me so upset,” you explained after you told him the whole story. “I know you do a great Job Sunshine and being a teacher isn´t always easy. So sometimes your body needs this time off and he needs to cry so that all pent-up emotions can be released.” He kissed you softly and you sighed. “Thank you for listening. I`m so sorry that I was so upset especially on Valentinsday.” “You don´t have to apologize for you emotions and I´m here for you with pleasure, Jagi,” he gave you a soft kiss and made you smile. How lucky could you be having such a caring and lovely boyfriend like him? “So what do you mean? Wanna put on our pyjamas and cuddle on the bed?” He asked you. “Nothing would make me happier.”

Three Days ~ 43
Tumblr media
~*~Emma~*~
I remembered Will from a couple of parties and Kirk and Boone's wedding. Nice guy. Apparently, he and some of his friends thought I was the extra in a three-way with Eli and Angie. Eli didn't see a reason he should correct them. Angie invited Alissa out on one of our girls’ nights and she became one of the group. It had probably been six months since I’d last seen her. I liked her and we got along well. The friendship had never progressed past those nights. I can't remember if I met her before or after Jimmy and I broke up. Either way, I moved, and we only ever saw each other on nights out. Now I find she's married to one of Sebastian's best friends. We have at least three friends in common and our friends' group overlaps. Very cool, but very weird. Almost like we were supposed to meet.
Wednesday I got the photoshoot "before" picture about fifteen minutes before my kids arrived. Looked like Sebastian in the morning. Hair a little messy, a crease on his face from his pillow, and his eyes not quite awake. His beard had grown in more and I ran my fingers over it in the picture, knowing it would be gone in the after. I didn’t dislike either version. I was just used to the way I’d met him.
My aide took the kids to lunch and I went in search of my after. The first thing I noticed was his beard was trimmed super close, where it was long stubble, but it was still there. I guess they'd changed their mind. His hair was styled not that different than he did except every hair was in place and I was betting it was fixed where it wouldn't move. Makeup perfected his skin tone and somehow made his eyes even bluer. Maybe it was the dark blue robe he was wearing. It had been hours since he'd sent, but I still sent a text telling him how handsome he looked.
I grabbed my lunch out of my mini-fridge and headed down to Mallory's room. I'd made some pasta salad loaded with veggies while talking with Sebastian last night and was looking forward to eating. Our secretary was walking toward me with a bouquet of cookies. They were shaped and iced like crayons, rulers, apples, notepads, and glue. Outside of teacher appreciation week that usually signaled a parent had gotten pissed at a grade or consequence and sided with their kid. At least, until they got both sides of the story. Cookies were good apologies and could be shared with the other grade level teachers who were sure to know every word you said and the tone of voice you used.
"Who got yelled at this time, Jamie?"
 She lifted an eyebrow, "You."
"No one’s yelled at me." That meant they were from Sebastian.
"Then your new boyfriend sent cookies instead of flowers."
I laughed, "Good possibility." I took them from her. "Take one for you and Kim."
"I was hoping you'd say that. They smell delicious."
I walked into Mallory's room with my healthy pasta salad and not at all healthy cookies. "I brought dessert." Our lunch group made appreciative noises.
Cindy laughed, "Who's parent did you piss off?"
I shook my head, "No one."
Mallory snatched the card while my hands were full, "I believe these are from the new man." I went ahead and sat down, trusting the card would be G-rated. Mallory read, "Halfway into the last full week. Hope this helps you all make it through. Sebastian." She looked to me, "Sebastian? That's a mouthful."
"Yes, he is."
Before we dug into the cookies, I had everyone take one and gather together. I'd send the picture as a thank you. They'd heard about him Monday after the tournament and I talked more about him today. I wasn't ready to share him yet. I was a little surprised word hadn't traveled from the tournament, but I guess there wasn't enough overlap. Outside of my team, where I worked wasn’t common knowledge. This was an advantage of not working and living in the same school district. If there was gossip it was more than likely identifying me as the setter on that team than a teacher. The moment his last name entered my school it would be a topic of conversation in all three buildings. I don't know exactly what that would mean. I'd been here four years and it was common knowledge where I went over winter break. Ed may eclipse Sebastian, but not when you throw Marvel in the mix. We have superhero day during our anti-drug week. I see the Marvel costumes and t-shirts. There'd be a lot of talk. Once the kids were gone, I’d feel more comfortable sharing who this new man is. The kids could make this a zoo.
Mallory, Cindy, and I were the last left. Cindy asked, "Will we ever meet this Sebastian? See a picture."
"I’m sure." I smiled, "We haven't known each two weeks yet. It's good and I'm protecting the new relationship like you do a new kitten. It needs to grow a little more."
Mallory agreed, "You know the Barbie Bitches at the high school are going to want all the details."
I did know that. "I’m not ready to share."
Cindy took our trash to the cafeteria while Mal and I cleaned up the tables. We sat down to finish our drinks, stretching out our break as long as possible. Her kids coming into the room was my cue to head back to my room as mine would be a few minutes behind them. It wasn’t quite time yet.
My text alert went off with a picture of Sebastian. I reached for my phone, but not so quick that Mallory didn’t see. Her eyes went wide and I held up a finger, “Give me one minute and I'll show you.” He was wearing a dark blue suit, with an unbuttoned white shirt, and an untied bow tie. He looked amazing and about two seconds away from sex. I put my hand over the screen and pushed it toward Mal, "Can I trust you to tell no one. I'm not ready for this to be here."
Mal put her hand over mine, "You know I'm not telling anyone. If that's who I think it is, the kids finding out will make Field Day crazy. Too much unstructured time to gossip and ask you questions." She started lifting her hand, "Let me see."
I moved my hand from the phone to my mouth.
Mallory looked at the picture a long time before she said, "Yep, that’s a Sebastian. Damn, Emma, you met him," she tapped my screen, "in the grocery?"
I nodded.
"Now I really wish I would have come to volleyball. Although, I probably would have just stared."
"No, you wouldn't. A few minutes and you would see he's like anyone else. Nothing special."
She grinned, "Except to you." Her kids started coming into the room.
 I stood, "Except to me."
As I headed to the door she called out, "We're sitting in the back at faculty meeting."
Sebastian had sent another picture by the time recess rolled around. He was in black jeans and a t-shirt a least one size too small.
Emma ~ Might have to cut you out of that shirt. This is not a complaint.
Sebastian ~ It was stretchy.
Emma ~ How is it going?
Sebastian ~ Good. I'm sitting in a chair having my hair changed.
Emma ~ What are they doing to it?
Sebastian ~ Making it look like it did when I got here. Apparently, people sleep in very expensive watches. I' II be done soon. No tommorow.
Emma ~ What will you do with the unexpected free time?
Sebastian ~ Clean my apartment.
Emma ~ I was going to say you don't have to, but you do. Ha Ha, the first time at least.
Sebastian ~ Exactly. I’m pretty neat. Bathroom is a wreck.
Emma ~ Bathrooms always need cleaning. I have to run. Argument on the monkey bars.
Sebastian ~ Talk to you later.
It would be Thursday night before we talked. Real-life set in. I had a volleyball game Wednesday night and Sebastian went out for drinks with the photographer once the shoot was over. I got home and was exhausted. We lost. I don't like to lose.
Thursday during the day there were no texts. My guess is he got home late and drunk. Overslept. Busy at gym. Returns home to sleep off the night before. I was driving home when a call from Sebastian came in.
"Buna ziua, Sebasti-an.” <Good afternoon>
“Ce mai faci?” <How are you?>
Thankfully he kept it simple. “Bine, tu?”  <Good and you?>
Sebastian switched to English. “I broke my phone. I pulled it out to text some woman, got elbowed by a guy on the sidewalk, and threw my phone on the ground. Screen shattered and I held it in my hand watching it slowly die. It just glitched and sputtered away in front of me."
"My poor, baby. Are you mourning the loss?"
"Nope, an hour in an Apple store and I have a shiny new iPhone. They were able to transfer my data over. Good as new. That's why you hadn’t heard from me."
I smiled, "I thought you were sleeping one-off."
"I barely drank. Too much to do today. Sheets changed, bathroom clean, kitchen has some food, and the family room is clean. When are you going to be here?"
"I got permission to leave a little early. I’ll definitely make the three o’clock train, but I’ll try and do the two. If that's ok with you?"
“I'm not going anywhere after the gym. I'll be here waiting."
"I'm excited. Seeing you. You with my friends and your friends. It’s going to be fun."
"It is."
Just to be sure. "Most excited about you."
"I like hearing that."
I set my alarm a little early to give myself time to finish packing. I’m not normally an over-packer, but I couldn't decide on a dress for dinner. Or anything else. Insane. At least today wasn't a theme day I need to wear a costume for. I wore a pair of black capris and a bright pink top with rolled sleeves and a long zipper up the front. Up for school, a little less so for Sebastian.
 First text of the day.
Sebastian ~ Are you here yet?
I had nothing but fun things planned for the day. Yesterday I'd had them vote for their favorite books and we read those at the top of every hour. We played math games, a science and social studies game show, and our top music and movement videos. I ate my lunch getting the STEM Lab cart and prepped everything for my assistant. The kids had been wonderful all day and I didn't feel the least bit guilty when I fled the building when she took them outside for recess.
I waited until I was safely on the train to text Sebastian.
Emma ~ On my way
Sebastian ~ Early!
Emma ~ I’ll beat the worst of the traffic
Sebastian ~ Exactly what I was thinking.
Sebastian ~ I should shower.
I put in my ear pods, clicking shuffle on my "Current Faves" playlist. This one changed all the time. Some never left the list. Recently there'd be an influx of happy love songs and sexy mood music. I think I even dozed off a couple of times. The closer I got the more butterflies were in my stomach. I was excited to see him, but a little nervous. I was going to his place. It would be different than surrounded by my stuff. I’m nervous about stupid stuff like where do I put my toothbrush, is it ok to look through the books in his extra room, what I do with my dirty clothes, and what if I get thirsty in the middle of the night? It's making me think back and wondering if I'd made him welcome... comfortable.
I took a cab from the train station, looking out the window at the city I used to call home. I wasn't familiar with where he lived so I watched the numbers on the buildings. His building from the outside looked like an old converted warehouse. The brick was red with a gray stone line between every floor. Looked about seven floors. He'd texted me the entry code and I hopped on the elevator to the fifth.
Sebastian opened his door so fast it was like he was standing beside it and I almost fell over. He was barefoot in ripped jeans and a Rutgers t-shirt. He held the door open with a hand high on the door. Add in the finger styled hair, bright blue eyes, and a smile that said he was happy to see me and he was the sexiest thing I'd ever laid eyes on. It was the barefoot part that got me.  "I'm here."

Chapter Eight
Harry woke up the next morning drowsy and exhausted, but he grinned when he saw Louis still fast asleep beside him. Yesterday Louis and his friends had been in the pit at the show and after the show, they had hung out in the park then went back to Harry's and hung out. They got to know each other in person without a phone screen in the way. Around 10 they had all retired and not wanting to get made fun of or teased he took up big spoon rope since he was bigger than Louis. He was broader and taller so it meant Harry was the big spoon. Just like he had been with his ex a few years back. Harry looked at Louis, studied his sleeping features, and couldn't believe someone so cute and small had such a big personality. He also could remember his softer more childish features from years ago when they were teenagers.
He could still remember the way his whole body stopped working when he saw Louis. He had been 14, almost 15, and had just come out to his family a few days prior. Then there he was kissing and snogging for the first time with Louis in a closed-off hall after obviously flirting and staring on both sides. It was a perfect kiss too just like yesterday’s, well except it was a lot more awkward since Harry was 14 and never kissed anyone. No wonder Harry felt an instant connection to Louis, they felt an instant connection to each other. They had met so many times prior that Harry would believe in soulmates at this point.
Harry climbed out of bed after kissing Louis' cheek then walked into his closet. He grabbed some clothes for the day then headed to the bathroom to start his morning routine. Afterward, he headed downstairs and started on breakfast hoping he had his heart-shaped waffle iron here and didn't take it somewhere else. Finding it under his many many skillets he plugged it in then got to work on the waffle mix. Minutes later he was flipping the waffle iron to start the cooking when he felt arms wrap around his waist from behind and he grinned.
"Good morning Lou." Louis hummed as Harry turned in his arms and wrapped his arm around Louis' shoulders.
"I feel exhausted even though we slept for like...10 hours."
"That's the jet leg hitting you. You just need a bit of breakfast, some fresh air, and something to do to distract yourself from it. It'll go away in a few hours. Probably around 12."
"Damn and here I thought we missed the jet leg when we took a flight that would let us sleep to get adjusted to the time zone change."
"You beat the worst of it. That's always the best way to travel so you're able to sleep and wake up to the city's morning. I'm surprised you guys thought of it."
"Liam, Niall, and Zayn planned it." Louis told him as he sat on the countertop as Harry went to go get the bacon from the fridge.
"So what do you want to do today? There's Universal, Disney, a zoo, an aquarium, museums, there are a few beaches not far from Orlando. Or we can just stay here, I have an indoor and outdoor pool, a game room, tons of movies with a movie room in the basement. Tampa is only an hour and a half drive as well. How do you want to spend our first Valentine's day together?"
"How about we just explore the town and see what we find to do. You can take me to the places you go to when you're here."
"I actually don't stay in Orlando that much unless I have shows here. I  bought the house when I was 19 and was dating my ex. We went to Universal a lot together so much so that he convinced me it was a good idea to buy a house here. Of course, now I know it was because he needed somewhere to cheat on me that wasn't my LA home. For obvious reasons. If I wasn't in Manchester then I was in LA and he lived in LA so I stayed there a lot. Whenever he came to visit family or cheat I went home to visit my family."
"He made you buy a home in Orlando so he could cheat on you?" Louis asked
"Well, his reasoning was because we went to Universal so much because he liked it but yeah it was also to cheat."
"Did he tell you he cheated when you broke up?"
"No, actually I found out when I came to Orlando and walked inside my room to see him fucking a girl in my bed. I knew he was bisexual, but his reasoning was because I wasn't having sex with him even though we had been together for quite a long time actually. Also since it wasn't a guy he wasn't technically cheating."
"Please tell me you dumped him after that."
"Actually no. I stayed with him for another six months and in those six months I had been guilt tripped each time he was hard into giving him a hand or blow job. I broke up with him when he tried to talk me into having sex with him before I was ready. He had been pushing it for a month and this particular time he just wasn't taking no for an answer. I realized what he was doing. I told him to grab his stuff and leave." Harry told Louis who stared at him
"Who stayed with someone who cheated on you then was manipulated and talked into performing sexual acts because he didn't want to wank in a shower? What a dick head. I am- if someone has ever done that to one of my sisters I'd have murdered him. If he still alive because your sister is scary."
"She doesn't know what happened. Well, she knows it was because I wouldn't have sex with him, but not everything." Louis wrapped his arms and legs around Harry and pulled him in close to his body, Harry's hands falling to his hips smiling at him.
"Well just know that he was an asshole and a selfish prick and I never want you to feel obligated to do anything you don't want to. Because trust me I get hard pretty easily, but that doesn't mean I am going to pressure you in any way. I forced myself my first time, I wanted to get over with and I regretted it minutes later. I wasn't ready but I was 18 and I had convinced myself and forced myself to go through with it when I was drunk at the pub. It was in a dirty dingy bathroom with spit, water, and precum as lube, and never again will I trust a guy who said 'Relax I got this' with his hands down my pants. My dick and ass were sore for days because of the dryness. So trust me when I say if you ever feel ready with me I will be sure to make it very very special and memorable and you will be the most comfortable person ever. No matter what position we take."
"First..ew...that just sounds gross and horrible. If you ever spit on me I will sue you. I don't care what the reason is if you dare spit on me I will sue you. Do you understand." Louis laughed as he nodded, "Good. Secondly, I trust you and am comfortable with you more than I have been with anyone. I, unfortunately, came into fame as a virgin, and also my first boyfriend was a manipulative verbally abusive ass. So it's harder to trust anyone, believe me, there have been times when I've wanted to just get it over with too, but you don't know who to trust anymore. The media offers people money for a story, even if it's not true. I trust you though. I've always felt you to be trustworthy and honest. I'm not worried about you going off to any media outlet that offers you money, which is why I refused to make you sign an NDA when my lawyer and label wanted you to when we started face timing."
"I can sign an NDA-"
"No. I trust you. Besides if you were going to say anything you'd have done it by now. You have enough information to make a few million."
"Really? I don't have that much that isn't exactly common knowledge." Louis said
"You have enough." Harry said with a shrug as he moved to out a skillet on the stove to start the bacon as the waffle maker timer went off.
"Want my help?"
"Please tell him no. We would like it to be edible." Liam said as he and Zayn walked into the room with Niall following only moments later
"I got it. Go sit with your friends then after breakfast we'll leave for town. We'll explore together."
"Sounds good." Louis said, leaning over to press a kiss to Harry's cheek before  jumping down and sitting on a stool, "So what are you lads doing today?" Louis asked his mates
"Us three have a taxi coming in an hour so it can take us to a car rental since it was closed yesterday when we landed." Zayn said
"I have three cars in the garage you can drive. A 2013 Audi S8, a 2011 Mercedes SLK, and a 2011 range rover. Then my car that I'll be taking today is a 2015 Audi A5. My newer car that I bought for my 21st birthday."
"Are you sure you want them to drive? They're not the best-"
"Excuse you. Who has an accident here and who doesn't?" Liam said looking st Louis
"An accident that wasn't my fault. He hit me when I was parked."
"Still an accident." Liam said
"I'll put you guys on my insurance for the week, it's not that big of a deal. If anything happens it's not like I can't afford it. I hardly drive them anyway. I drive my new Audi and my new Range Rover all the time. I've sold most of my other ones and I've been meaning to sell these three. I just keep forgetting about them. The keys are up on the key hanger in the front entrance." Harry said with a shrug
"Are you sure?" Niall asked
"I'm positive. Rental cars are a pain in the ass don't even bother. They require so much and for international travelers like you guys it could take hours before you're approved. So just take one of mine."
~~~
After a wonderful breakfast of heart-shaped waffles and bacon for everyone Louis took a shower and got dressed in black skinnies and one of his graphic tees the boys gave him over the years. It has a graphic of a vanilla cone and on the shirt, it read "vanilla is for ice cream". Louis loved this shirt and didn't think much of it as he pulled it on then headed downstairs. The front door was opened and when Louis stepped outside he saw the garage was opened. He headed inside and saw all four shiny cars well taken care of and all of his mates in one of the three cars mentioned while Harry leaned against an Audi.
"Niall is going out on his own so he isn't third-wheeling anyone so I'm letting him pick the car first much to Zayn's disappointment."
"Niall can come with us."
"I offered, but I think he just wants to explore on his own. Is he ever away from you three?"
"Not really. Zayn and Liam have monthly date nights and they've been busy planning their wedding. So it's been very coupley at the house."
"The wedding is what..three months away now?"
"Yeah. May 14 to be exact. You're invited by the way, as my plus one if you want to come."
"They told me I was invited, they actually asked if I would sing their first dance song for them then I told them I can ask Ed himself to do it and they got excited. So remind me to call Ed in a few hours, I want to get him before he goes to sleep as it's only 5 in London."
"Sure so about 3?"
"Yeah, about 3 or 4. Around the time we end our exploration and go to the shops to get groceries for our romantic dinner tonight."
"Sounds good."
"Well, are we ready to go? The lad knows to lock up before they leave, they have the codes for the security box outside, and they have a house key. Also, they each have mine and my security team's number should they need anything. As well as copies of insurance cards."
"Already?"
"Paper temporary ones. You have one too in my glove box but figured since I'll be driving for now you won't need it right away."
"Then yeah I'm if you're ready." Harry pushed off from the car and opened the passenger side door letting Louis into the car before closing it once Louis was settled in the seat.
