Charcoal sketches from yesterday. Went to a live model drawing event in my local city. These are 30 minutes each on toned paper. I'm thinking of finishing out two of them in ClipStudio.

I got this bug to draw neopets, but also The Locked Tomb fanart. I decided Harrow would be a korbat because small. It's hard to make the little guys look mean. I don't wanna do a darigan version either. Underneath the bones and skull paint is a little Nona after all.
I'm still working out which species works the best for Gideon. And unfortunately I'm thinking about the kau. Uncharitable choice for sure but it's so funny.

Haven't drawn Bella in a bit! If been sitting on this sketch for a while now. I played with the colors and decided to be done with it. Gods, I love the gradient map feature in Clip. (changed her wing species again, to the urania moth)

I went out to my local art fair thing my city does every month, and bought these little guys off of a 14 yr old kid. He made them with pen, marker, and paper, then clear tape and cut them out. I scanned them in and threw them into Clip to give them a fun background! Also did some fanart of one of his OCs:

Their names are Jack and Jake.

Designing some fae based on Bella and her origins. I've cobbled to gether what I call the nopal sprites, who eat the cochineal bugs. The little bugs are also used for body painting. They all have swallowtail wings of some variety, teal-ish spotted skin and cream colored hair. The butterfly photos I've used include: urania leilus, papilio cresphontes, & eurytides epidaus.

A Tifa gift for a friend that I completed early this month. And an Aerith sketch I was working on last night. Thought that I would post them together<3

I don't post selfies on here very often, but today the orchards were blooming and sun was out and took advantage of some very pretty portraits of my dog Pepper. I got a DNA kit as a gift on crimmis and it turns out she's a blend of Cattledog, Pitbull, and Golden Retriever. In two months it'll be her adoption day and she'll be approx. 12 years old. Never know if we'll have another spring together, so I'm appreciating it while I can.

I made some fanart of the Lavender Latte Bat doll that @strangegutz made recently. She's so cute, and I hope whoever buys her off Etsy loves her. Gutz, your art dolls are beautiful!

Redraw of Bella's wing growth cycle. The original drawing was in college, Feb 10th of 2013. I haven't drawn much Bella lately, but I'm pleased to have done her justice. The first time I drew her must have been in 2006. So we're getting to 20 years of Bella very soon!
.
Oh, and she still has the pixie dust glow when floating. I've always loved how Fern Gully faeries were able to zero-gravity float and twist without the use of wings. I have to use underwater photo references for her most of the time.

I thought it would have to be Frazetta too, based on the shadow-welding you do. I have the James Gurney painting books, but I gotta check out Adams and Schmidt!!! Thanks! And thank you for the delicious artwork too<3
I've always loved how you render your paintings! Could you share where you've gotten inspiration from, regarding the way you paint light and shadow?
from soooo many places, but some of the biggest ones are ansel adams, frazetta and other old comic book guys, old photos from the 50s-70s, and just lots of time spent observing nature. technique wise i'd say james gurney (dinotopia guy) and richard schmidt are the biggest inspirations

Etillon the dye-maker. Queen Vonnie always wants to look good, and she has plenty of fae (and possibly humans) on staff to ensure her wardrobe is impeccable. Eti's a master of her craft, and can make colors our eyes cannot even perceive. But she also has perfectly matched every cochineal colored garment in the Queen's wardrobe.
She's aos sidhe, or sylph, a type of full-sized, winged fae. Originally born in Sub-Saharan Africa, she had been taken by fae French colonizers at a young age back to Europe. She speaks with an adorable French accent, and leaves dye stains everywhere she goes.
(Berellinth commissions her for the blue lip color she likes, and acts like she uses it all up so she can go back for more to flirt with Eti. She's got several small pots accumulated in her quarters that haven't even been opened yet.)

Was a drawing in my sketchbook initially. Pastel, colored pencil, watercolor, and pen. Painted over it and changed the colors in ClipStudio. I made her a little hairier since I'd like to think she's half elf, half cait sidhe.

I've made a bit more progress on this faerie house. Filled in the background with matte black paint, the cheap hobby stuff from walm*rt I've had on hand for a year now. I want to do some leaves next.

Okay cool, I found it! I used to be so loose and rhythmic in my sketching.

Tree Home Doodles
So I haven’t explained the tree homes yet, but I’ve been working on this concept for a while. This is mostly inspired by my obsession with solving environmentally responsible ways of living…

Working on a concept for a faerie house. It's been a while but I may have a few drawing of these faerie houses from 2014 on this blog. (I'll dig it up and reblog it if I can find it.)
I want to apply to the Butch Fairy Zine so bad, and I'm thinkin about a carpenter bee themed character.
