Somewhere out there in the Multiverse exist a pair of alternate universes where Ahsoka Tano is raised by Bruce Wayne to become Robin meanwhile Jason Todd becomes Anakin Skywalker's padawan, and the latter universe is starting to terrify me.

THE CHOICES WE MAKE - PART 2 (AZRIEL X READER)
Summary : Things escalate as you hastily try to find a solution.
Warnings : Swearing
PART- 1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Vallahan council chambers)
"I've given you one duty, Y/N. Just ONE." your king seethed at you as you stood in front of him with your head bowed. "How could you be so ...useless?" The words sent a sharp pain through you, but you ignored it. Later, you'd let it hurt you. "The border is nothing more but rot as far as the eye can see. What are you going to tell those who've lost their homes?"
You stood in silence, head hung in shame, taking the verbal blows. Pathetic. That's how you felt.
"Get out. I'll deal with you after I've dealt with this." You left obediently, not letting him see the tears lining your eyes. People had lost their lives because of your inability to do your job. Silence echoed in your mind as you tried to think of something...anything.
There was only one thing left to do.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(The River House, Velaris)
"I don't care about the cost. I need the book, Rhys. PLEASE"." you almost begged. You could see the conflict in his eyes. He was hiding something, you were sure about it.
"Y/N..." taking in a deep breath, he blurted out "it's a trap. Koschei, he...wants the book. He's trying to lure us."
You let the words sink in, understanding dawning upon you. "We're just supposed to watch people die then?" He didn't respond, choosing to look away.
"W-we'll prepare for it. We'll set up a legion to stop---"
"He's too strong. A legion won't be able to stop him. I didn't want to say this Y/N...but the lives of a few over the lives of many is a tough decision I have to make."
A beat of silence passed, the words sinking in. Your vision turned red, the words spewing out of you like wildfire "A TOUGH DECISION YOU HAVE TO MAKE?! I have blood on my fucking hands, Rhysand! I stood and watched as my people were fucking slaughtered. DO THEY NOT DESERVE TO FUCKING LIVE?!?!"
He almost flinched as you raised you tone. You didn't feel guilt though. You felt pure undiluted anger coursing through your veins at the entire situation. "The most powerful high lord cant manage to save a couple of people ?! Fucking pathetic. You sit here in your nice little city watching over your people that aren't fucking aware of anything, those shit---"
"THAT IS ENOUGH." Rhysand roared, a pulse of his power rushing through the room. It washed over you, momentarily stunning you into silence. "Don't you dare bring my people into this. They don't deserve your anger."
The door to Rhysand's office burst open revealing Azriel, Nesta and Cassian.
"What's going on?" Azriel asked, eyes flitting between you and Rhys.
"Your darling brother just told me to stand by and watch my people die." you sneered.
"Y/N, we'll figure out another---" Rhys started.
You raised a hand to silence him. "I know where your loyalties lie Rhysand. If it were the people of Velaris, you wouldn't have thought twice."
"You're right." Nesta spoke up, eyes brimming with a challenge. "Then why are you still here?"
"Ness!" Cassian admonished her, which she ignored.
"Watch your fucking mouth." you said flatly to her turning your gaze back to Rhysand. "You told me you'd always be there no matter what. I see there was a limit to it."
"Y/N, please." Azriel followed you out the door, pushing past Cassian. "Just calm down and listen.."
You whipped towards him , anger flaring again "Calm down?! Do you know what I've been through the past few days Azriel? Everyday I wake up to a list of dead fae. They died because I didn't do anything. They died because I had a solution and I couldn't carry it out because your shithead of a high lord and your fucking sister in law would not let me. So no, Azriel, I will not calm down."
"Hey...hey.." he stepped closer to you cupping your face in his hands. His warmth and scent did nothing to calm you but you let him speak. "I'm sorry. I will never stop asking for your forgiveness for this moment but I need you to keep a clear head. I promise I'll help you out. We'll find another way okay? If not, I'll speak to Rhys again. He'll understand."
"Just...leave me alone. I don't need false promises." you walked away from him not paying attention to the hurt splashed across his face.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Your private chambers, Vallahan)
"It's a bargain." The sting of the bargain across your skin filled with you hope once again. You'd found a solution.
"I hope you won't go back on your word Lady Y/N." the male seated across you spoke, a tinge of suspicion in his voice.
"I couldn't even if I wanted to." you wiped the blood on your palm with a wet cloth and traced a finger along the cut across you palm.
"Very well." he stood up "you have a week to fulfill your side of the bargain."
"You have a day." you say flatly, not wanting to extend the conversation any further.
A dark chuckle echoed through the chambers, the fire casting eerie shadow across the walls. "It shall be done."
Footsteps walked away from you, each one in sync with your thudding heart. It had to be done. You had no choice. You told yourself repeatedly.
"Oh and Y/N...." you turned to face him at the sudden change in his tone. "when you're done breaking the shadowsingers heart, come find me. Your fire is best suited for the Autumn court."
You almost scoffed at his offer but instead chose to stay neutral.
"Goodnight, Eris."
He gave you a mocking bow and left the chambers, his red hair glinting in the firelight.

THE CHOICES WE MAKE (AZRIEL X READER)
Summary : An unexpected turn of events puts Azriel and you to the test.
Warnings: Angst, mentions of kissing, fluff if you squint.
(The River House, Velaris)
"The Book of Breathings sets us a few steps ahead of our enemies. Do you understand the extent of magic the book contains? The power that could be wielded?" Amren says, eyes widening with astonishment and wonder.
"In the wrong hands...it could be the end of everything." Nesta fixes her gaze upon Amren, eyes stalking her like a predator. "It should be locked away."
"I'm sure we can find ways to utilise it and keep it a secret. None of us in this room will ever speak of it." you say firmly, casting a look at everyone in the room. The inner circle had gathered in the River House for a meeting. A meeting which had turned too dark too fast.
"Nesta is right." Rhys spoke up, surprise flickering through you at his agreement. You couldn't remember the last time the both of them had agreed on something. "It's too big of a risk to use it. Even if we do, the magic is so strong, someone will track it to us."
"Someone is always going to be looking for it though. Keeping it within our court is a risk in itself." Feyre adds and you agree with her. Azriel and Cassian had already voiced their opinions earlier. They'd suggested locking it away in the court of nightmares under a ward of spells.
"A show of hands then." Mor sighs. "All for using the book?"
You, Feyre and Amren are the only ones to raise up your hands. Letting out an irritated sigh, you drop your hand as Mor takes the book to be locked away.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Later in your room)
Strong hands wrap around your waist from behind, a warm body pressed against yours. Letting his scent invade your senses, you relax your tense body allowing yourself to find comfort in his presence.
"Still annoyed?" Azriels voice rumbles through his chest. Not bothering to respond, you let your thoughts drift once more. A defeated exhale slips out his mouth as he drops his head to your shoulder.
"It's for the good Y/N." he mumbles against your skin, lips dropping a soft kiss.
"The good of whom Azriel?" you say calmly, your voice quite flat. "The good of whom, tell me? The good for the people or for us? Us...the people who are meant to protect and help those around."
You turn around in his grasp, placing your hands on his forearms for stability. "We have the power to help people. We have the power to change lives. Yet we choose to lock it away like an artifact?"
Azriel looked down at you warily as a strange look appeared in your eyes. He had never seen you this worked up before, it was quite disconcerting. "Don't we deserve happiness and peace as well, Y/N? Don't we deserve a break? There are other ways to help."
Cupping your face in his hands, he leaned down to touch his forehead to yours. "I want to spend my life with you without having to look over my shoulder for threats. I want to wake up to you by my side. Not in a war camp. In a home. OUR. HOME. Is that too much to ask for?"
Guilt smashed through your irritation, giving you a whiplash. He was right. Of course he was. The hope in his eyes snuffed out the remaining bits of anger that had accumulated over the past few hours. He was standing so still, waiting for a reaction, a reply, anything to indicate your agreement. Placing a peck on his lips, you mumbled "I got carried away, sorry."
"Don't apologize. You weren't wrong either. It shows how much you care and that's what I love about you." Azriel responds, going in for a longer kiss. You wrap your hands around his neck as he takes his time to ravish your lips.
The both of you had gotten together three years ago , a few months after you met at a council meeting in Vallahan. He was everything you had hoped for and more. You weren't mates but you were hoping that the bond would click into place one day.
"I love you..." you breathe onto his lips earning a beautiful grin from him.
"Let me show you how much I love you." you yelp as he lifts you off of your feet and carries you towards the bed, his laughter music to your ears.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Vallahan council chambers)
"The situation at the borders is getting out of hand, my lady. We've sent one unit to monitor, but nothing has been reported so far." councilman Freda states.
A headache starts to set in and you rub your temples to ease the pain. “I’d say it’s progressing too fast , wouldn’t you councilman ?”
“Uh yes …my Lady. I guess we could say that.” He shuffles.
“Then kindly tell me why we haven’t relocated the people. I’ve given the orders last month. Do we have a problem ?” your voice rose in intensity along with you anger.
“N-No my lady we…” he took in a deep breath before explaining “the people of the other towns and cities won’t accept them because they think the border fae are cursed due to the recent …situation.”
“So they’ve decided amongst themselves that it’s a curse then ?” your mind starts sprinting thinking of different solutions and possibilities.
“If I may say so my lady, I do think it’s a curse. A spell of some sorts.” Your attention snapped back to focus upon hearing his words.
“Explain.”
“There have been rumours of a death lord…Koschei living on Prythian. They say that he might have been the one to place the spell.”
“Who is this ‘they’ ?”
“Me and a few other councilmen , my lady.” He has the decency to look a bit apologetic but you knew it was a good possibility.
“Hmm… I’ll go pay a visit tomorrow. The last time I went it was just starting to breach the forest line.”
Councilman Freda steps forward in surprise “ I do not think it is such a wise idea. It’s quite dangerous…”
“There are people living there everyday. I’m sure I’ll be fine for a couple of hours. Thankyou for your time.” Understanding the dismissal , the councilman simply nodded and left .
——————————————————————————
(At the border village of Vallahan)
“I’m glad you asked me to come along.” Azriel said casting a cautious glance at the black rot that had taken root. “I can feel the magic permeating the air. This is dangerous magic Y/N. I don’t want you near it.”
“I need to find a solution in the new two days Az. This is spreading faster than I had expected it to.” You hands trembled at the sight before you , but clenching them into fists you forced yourself to push the fear down. Now was not the time.
“I’ll speak to Rhys. See if there’s anything he can do about this.” Turning to face you, he let you see the nervousness in his eyes “There’s a bog in Prythian ..that dark creatures have made their home. I get the same feeling here…it’s far too sinister.”
The fear in his eyes and the warning in his tone made a shudder rush through you. The shadow singer of the night court was scared. Azriel was never scared and yet here right now, he was almost terrified.
Letting out a shaky exhale, you intertwined your hand with his leading him away from the rot.
——————————————————————————
(Your chambers in Vallahan)
“Azriel wasn’t exaggerating. It is dangerously similar to Koscheis magic.” Rhys stated , running a hand over his face.
“What do you suggest I do ?” You ask twirling the glass of wine in your hands.
“I can ask Helion for a spell that could keep the curse at bay for sometime but it’ll only be a temporary solution.”
“For how long ? I need to fix it before it gets worse Rhys.”
“I know I know. Atleast we can give ourselves more time to think.”
You did think. You’d spent the last two sleepless nights thinking and worrying and planning. You had an idea but weren’t sure if Rhys would be happy with it. Nevertheless , you finally decided to bring it up.
Leaning forward in your chair you blurted out “What about the book of breathings ? Do you think—“
“I know what you’re going to say. Yes I’ve thought about it but I think it should be the last option.” he said firmly , maintaining eye contact with you , challenging you to say something against him.
You held back a scoff and shook your head in disapproval. “It’s getting a bit tiring don’t you think Rhysand? Having the solution and yet not willing to recognise it?”
“Enough.” The high lord of the night court commanded , standing up from his seat. “We’ve had this conversation before. You know why. Get some sleep Y/N. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Alone in your chambers, you let the silence engulf you, the sound of blood rushing through your ears fill your head.
——————————————————————————
(The River House, Velaris)
“It’s Koschei. No doubt.” Nesta stated flatly, her eyes burning in anger. Rhys and Cassian had taken her to the Vallahan village earlier to confirm their suspicions.
“I can feel the darkness and the depth of the magic. It feels cold and…like death.”
Azriel ran a hand through his hair, his shadows moving agitatedly around him. The last few days had been tough on him as well. He couldn’t stop thinking about the fear and the worry in your face. Couldn’t stop the guilt and disgust that enveloped him when he realised how useless he was in the situation.
“It’s a trap for sure.” Nesta continued “he knows we have the Book. I don’t know how , but he knows.”
Rhys hummed in agreement while Cassians face morphed into that of the General of the Night Court. He was already planning, strategising.
“So if we were to use the book to find a spell, he would track it down immediately.” Cassian confirmed.
“Yes. He knows it’s with us but he wants to lure it out. Somewhere far from us. Somewhere he can overpower us. Somewhere where we don’t have the upper hand.” A flicker of anger lit in Rhysands eyes.
“We should tell Y/N.” Azriel spoke up.
“No.” Rhys and Nesta spoke at the same time, Azriel looking at them in shock.
“What do you mean no? It’s her territory. She deserves to know.”
“Az…she’s been acting strange lately.” Rhys said steadily trying not to anger the shadow singer. “It might be the stress but it’s a huge risk to our court and Prythian.”
“She’s OUR FRIEND. Someone we can TRUST.” The coldness in Azriels voice made Cass step forward in reflex.
“Easy, Az.” Cass muttered softly.
“She wants to save her people.” Az ignored Cassian.
“And we have to save ours.” Nesta said firmly. The words felt like a cold shower to Azriel. He finally realised the position he was in.
Help his court or the woman he loves?

SOON (THEO NOTT X READER)
Summary : Theodore Nott was just another Slytherin asshole to most of Hogwarts. But to you, he was something much much more.
Themes : Mild kissing and swearing.
A/N : This is my first Theo fic AHHH. Just thought I would give it a shot. Let me know how it is!
P.S.- This is strictly a one shot. There will be no part 2.
"He is quite charming isn't he?" Ginny commented sneaking a glance at Theodore Nott. Seated at the Slytherin table between his usual rowdy gang of friends, he smirked at something Lorenzo had said.
"I think the word you're looking for is enigmatic, Gin. For all we know, he could be Voldemort in disguise." you stated flatly, stabbing a piece of potato on your plate. Earning a smack on the arm for using You-know-who's name so boldly, you ignored Ginny's attempts at convincing you to attend the party being thrown tonight.
"Help me understand why you're so bloody against the idea?! Is it because you have to bring a date?" she raised her eyebrows in question.
"That may be a part of the reason." you refused to meet her owl like stare, instead choosing to focus on the copy of the Daily Prophet in front of you.
"Why would that be an issue ? I can name five people off the top of my head who would say yes instantly." she prodded further, thankfully choosing to redirect her gaze towards the mail she'd received. Taking advantage of her momentary distraction, you snuck a glance at Theodore again. The sleeves of his uniform were rolled upto his elbow and you greedily took in the sight of his veiny forearms.
"What are you looking at?" Ginny broke you out of the reverie, your eyes immediately flitting towards the shawl Pansy was wearing.
"Pansy's new shawl. I can't recall which store I've seen it in but it looks very familiar." The lie rolled out smoothly, misleading Ginny. The pang of guilt ,that never lessened in impact, hit you yet again.
"Oh. Yeah, it does look quite familiar now that you mention it." She went off on a tangent about clothes and you let out a relieved sigh.
Ginny couldn't know. Not for now atleast.
The morning went on, your focus elsewhere during most of the classes. Ginny hadn't brought up the party again but you knew it was unavoidable. You were definitely acting quite strange. Not being the one to turn down an invite, your sudden refusal to attend this massive party did come as a surprise to your friends.
You had your reasons. Utterly selfish reasons.
However as the evening rolled by, Ginny had cornered you into agreeing. On bringing up the issue of the date, she'd simply shrugged and said "I took care of it."
That did not sound very reassuring.
It was worse than you had expected.
"CORMAC MC FUCKIN LAGGEN ?!?" you hissed at Ginny , your back to the boy in question.
Ginny looked away sheepishly and said "He told Hermione who told me that he had a thing for you. So I thought you guys could talk? I mean you don't have to really. Just drop him off in a corner."
"Drop him---" pinching the bridge of your nose in frustration, you whipped around to face Laggen and gave him a saccharine smile.
"Nice to meet you Laggen but I'm not interested."
He looked astounded, trying to wrap his head around the rejection. After a few seconds, he managed to sputter out "We haven't talked yet. How can you--"
"Yes. Yes I can. You have my permission to tell everyone I'm your date but please don't approach me again. Bye." you sauntered off into the party, Ginny keeping up behind you.
"Where's Harry anyways?" you asked, straining your neck to see past the crowd.
"Running late. Neville set his pants on fire so Ron and Harry are helping him out."
Shaking your head in amusement, you let your eyes run around the room searching for him.
There.
Theo sat on the couch near the fireplace, one arm thrown around the back , a glass of amber liquid in the other. The smoke from Mattheo's cigarette made his figure hazy.
"I'm gonna go grab a drink." Ginny said her voice floating by. You nodded distractedly , your attention held captive by Theo.
As if sending your presence behind him , he turned his head around and met your eyes. Slight confusion marred his face making his eyebrows furrow. He hadn’t expected you to be here.
Signalling to you with a quick nod of his head, he excused himself from his group of friends and made his way to his dorms. You stayed down for a couple more minutes , getting yourself a drink to throw off suspicion.
“Hey, I didn’t think you’d come tonight. Ginny change your mind?” Pansy popped out of the blue , startling you.
“Uh.. Pansy, hey. Yeah you know how Gin is.” Pansy was a bit of a talker. Aware that this conversation could go on forever , you tried to come up with an excuse. “Hey listen, I’ve got to use the bathroom real quick. I’ll find you again alright?”
Not waiting for a response , you made your way in the direction of the bathrooms and took a sharp turn in the opposite direction once you made sure Pansy had redirected her attention. Sneaking up the stairway to the boys dorm, you took a moment for yourself outside Theo’s dorm room, straightening out your clothes.
“Took you long enough.” His voice drawled as you entered his room, the familiar surroundings providing a sense of comfort.
“Pansy almost started a conversation.” You said laughing lightly at his wide eyed expression.
“Didn’t take you long then.” He corrected his previous statement , prowling towards you.
“No. I guess it didn’t.”
Wrapping an arm around your waist, he pulled you into a searing kiss that had you holding onto his shirt for balance. The words 'I missed you' played at the tip of your tongue struggling to be let out.
He nipped at your lower lip , a breathy sigh leaving you as you tangled your hands in his hair.
"Cormac Mc fuckin Laggen? Seriously?" Theo muttered , lowering his head to place soft kisses across your jaw. Leaning your head back to give him more access, you let out a soft laugh. "That's exactly what I said. Ginny is the real culprit."
A strangled moan left your lips as he sucked at your neck, immediately soothing it with a sloppy kiss. "T-Theo..you idiot. That's gonna leave a mark." He just hummed in response seemingly lost in the pleasure. Tugging his head back, you made him meet your gaze head on.
"If we stay up here for any longer, they'll suspect." A shiver passed through you as his hands trailed lower and cupped you arse, pulling your hips to his. "Let them." he said dropping his head to capture your lips once more.
"THEO, YOU IN THERE ??" Blaise Zabini's voice boomed through the door making you jump. A string of Italian curses left Theo's mouth as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Yeah give me a minute!"
Cupping your face in his hands, he leaned down to your face placing you at eye level. "It'll all be over soon alright? We won't have to hide anymore. We can be free." The promise in his eyes lit a spark of hope within you, a rush of adrenaline coursing through your veins.
"Soon." you whispered , your eyes fluttering shut as you placed a kiss on his Dark Mark.

SHATTERED (AZRIEL X READER)
Summary : You finally scraped up enough courage to tell Azriel how you felt. Unfortunately, not everything is meant to be.
Warnings : ANGSTTTTT, ANGSTTT.
Joy rushed through you as you took a moment to pause and look around. Your closest friends and family were gathered in your house taking a break from all the chaos plaguing your world.
Laughter poured out uninhibited, memories were shared and a cocoon of comfort and love was created. This was all you had ever wanted. This was everything you fought for. This was everything you had sacrificed the innocent part of yourself for.
Sighing in contentment, you let a memory from a couple of years back wash over you.
"I-I don't want you to go." you sobbed holding onto Azriel's hand. "P-Please Az. What if you---" you couldn't finish the sentence, just the thought of it sending more tears running down your sweaty and blood stained face.
"Y/N, I have to help them. I can't stand by and watch the others get slaughtered. I can't live with that regret Y/N, it's a slow death. At least this way, death might find me faster." Azriel pulled you to him, holding the back of your head close to his chest as you sobbed harder.
You couldn't be selfish. You knew your chance of winning would increase drastically if Azriel went out there. Even if it was at the cost of his own life. Yet, you couldn't help but regret all the moments you didn't have because you couldn't confess to him your true feelings.
You had been close friends for so long, you couldn't recall your life before him. The days felt brighter and happier, the nights were filled with drinks and laughter. He knew everything about you.
Almost everything.
You didn't know exactly when your feelings blossomed into something more but it was all you could think about most days. The colour of his eyes, the way he laughed with his head thrown back, the warm hugs he gave when he greeted you , the comforting touches on your arm when you were anxious about something.
Soon enough, you had started to notice the more...physical aspects. The way his tanned skin glistened with sweat after a training session, the curl of his biceps as he lifted his sword, the way his powerful back muscles stretched and defined the lines of his back and his tattoos. For the love of the Cauldron, his tattoos. Once, after a particularly intense training session, he'd taken off his shirt to cool off. A bead of sweat had trailed down his shoulders over the lines of his tattoos. You had wondered what it would feel like to chase it with your tongue and lick it off. A cold soak was how you had spent the rest of your afternoon.
You'd been so conflicted with your own emotions, you didn't have the nerve to tell him how you'd felt.
But now ? When this might be the last moment the both of you would ever share together ?
No. No. You couldn't do that to him. He needed to be focused out there. You wouldn't do that to him. Instead, you drew away from his chest and placed your hand on the back of his neck pulling his forehead to yours.
"You come back to me. Okay? You come back to me and I will tell you something I've never had the courage to tell you before okay?"
His eyebrows furrowed in confusion and yet he nodded in agreement, his eyes hardening with resolve. Good. Placing a chaste kiss on your forehead in farewell , he left you alone in the dark confines of the room.
"Where did you go ?" a voice broke you out of your memory, bringing you back to reality. The stark contrast between the both made a rush of gratefulness encompass you.
"Was thinking about something." you said, shooting a smile at Cassian. His eyes darted across your face, understanding dawning upon him. "It's real." he said softly, gently squeezing your hand. "The war is over. We're all here and alive."
Emotions welled up inside you filling you to the brim and lining your eyes with tears. Sniffling lightly, you turned your head to discreetly wipe away a tear that had escaped.
Cassian's arm wrapped around you, tugging you closer to him. "Bask in the moment, Y/N. Everyone here loves you, let it heal you."
The both of you made your way to the seating area where everyone was sprawled. Your eyes met Azriel's, who was already looking at you with a slightly concerned look on his face. You gave him a reassuring smile gesturing to him that everything was alright. Satisfied with your answer, he continued his conversation with Feyre.
You needed to tell him tonight. It didn't matter if he reciprocated it or not. You needed to get it off of your chest so you could move on with your life. Your mind pulled you back into another memory reminding you of what had happened the last time you tried telling him.
It was over. They were alive. He was alive. You waited at the entrance to the healers tent where he was being treated with your hands trembling and heart pounding. You had to see him with your own eyes. Drink your fill. You thanked the Cauldron and the Mother and every other entity that the people of Prythian believed in for keeping him alive.
The healer stepped out of the tent and got startled when she almost ran into you. "Sorry." you said sheepishly, trying to peer around her into the area within. Following your line of sight, the healer let a small smile come onto her face. "He's fine. He'll be out in a moment."
Bowing your head in thanks, feet tapping to expel the nervous energy, you continued your vigil for a few more minutes.
Your felt him before you saw him. His scent enveloped you in a warm embrace dispelling your nervous energy and replacing it with relief. A grin broke out on your face, hands reaching out to him to tug him into an embrace.
You buried your face in his neck, making sure not to put pressure on his wounds.
"It's over Y/N. It's all over." Azriel's voice cracked as he held you close.
Tell him. Your mind screamed at you trying to overcome the barriers you had kept up. Pulling back , you stared up at his face your mouth opening and closing as you tried to gather your thoughts and form a coherent sentence.
Steeling your resolve, you pushed yourself over the line you'd drawn.
"Az...I---"
You paused as you watched his eyes widen at something behind you. Relief and something else..something you couldn't decipher but spoke volumes morphed his face.
"Mor..." he breathed out before letting go of you, the loss of touch feeling like a punch to the gut.
He rushed towards Mor who had been standing behind you at a distance nursing her own wounds. The cold air slammed into you at the loss of his body heat as if reminding you of your place in his life. Temporary.
You felt horrible. Mor had been injured as well and instead of helping her out, here you were feeling pitiful as you watched Azriel walk away. You couldn't move. You were frozen to the spot, a few tendrils of your hair whipping around you as the sting of the cold reddened your cheeks and cracked your lips.
You watched unblinking as he made his way to Mor , cradled her face in his hands and crushed her into a hug. You watched unblinking as his posture turned from tensed to relaxed the moment he hugged her. You watched unblinking as he shuffled away with her deeper into the camp.
Leaving you behind.
"You're doing that thing again." a voice broke you out of the memory yet again. This time it was Azriel. He'd switched places with Cassian, settling down on the floor next to you.
"Sorry. Long day." you said scooting closer to him as he draped an arm around you casually. You clinked your glasses and took a sip of your drinks settling into comfortable silence.
You'd noticed over the past few months that he'd stopped giving Mor longing looks and heated glances. The hope and feelings that you'd buried deep inside had come back to life despite your efforts to ignore them. Maybe you were foolish. But you'd never know unless you finally let it out. It was becoming too heavy for you to carry on your own.
"Az.." you said softly.
"Hmm..?" he leaned closer bringing his ear to your lips. Head buzzing at the proximity, you tried not to stammer as you said "I need to speak to you about something. Can you come to my room later?"
"Yeah sure. Everything okay?" he asked pulling back to look into your eyes.
"Y-Yeah."
"Liar." he murmured, eyes darting over your face. "You're nervous."
You gulped instinctively, his eyes taking note of the small action. He didn't miss anything. Except the one thing that mattered the most. He had somehow never figured out that his best friend is in love with him.
"Let's go now." he said bracing his hands on the floor to stand up.
"No...but..." you looked up at him dumbfounded.
"Everyone is going to head to bed soon. They're just waiting for someone to make the first move." he grinned holding out his hand for you to take.
Letting the warmth of his hand ground you, you stood up and dusted off your pants. You didn't notice the set of eyes that trailed you both as you left the room.
You went through all the possible scenarios in you head , braving yourself against the whirlwind of emotions that were about to be exposed. Now or never.
"Y/N." You stopped in your tracks noticing that Azriel wasn't beside you. Turning around, you saw him observing a flower pot that you had purchased from the market recently.
"Since when did you stop and stare at flowers?" you laughed walking back towards him.
A slight blush rose up on his cheeks making your smile broader.
"I got it at the market. Redecorating the whole place because I wanted it to be more lively. Do you like ?"
"Yes." he whispered as your face started giving way to confusion. He was acting very strange.
"It's just a plant Az. If you like it, have it. I'll just get another one." you watched his face closely.
"No..no I won't take it. I was just admiring it." He straightened up, pulling his eyes away from the plant.
"Ooookay, if you say so." you said brushing away the confusion. Yet, a bad feeling had taken root in your stomach. Nerves, you told yourself brushing that away as well.
"Actually..." he cleared his throat. "Can you give me the name of the seller. Maybe I'll get one for...myself." He wouldn't meet your eyes instead choosing to look right past you. He looked embarrassed, maybe shy even.
The bad feeling pushed its roots deeper, curling itself around you and making its way to the heart. You suddenly found it difficult to breathe.
However, you managed to choke out "Yourself? Or...someone, Az?"
He shuffled his feet , scratching the nape of his neck.
The roots reached your heart, slowly squeezing and fracturing the already delicate thing. You didn't need him to say the name. The sweet beautiful girl who had caught his eye. The female who was everything you weren't. The stark opposite.
"E-Elain?" you rasped, willing yourself to not show any reaction.
A faint smile appeared on his face at hearing her name.
Oh.
Oh.
You know the moment in time when you realise that something will impact you so detrimentally , you will never be the same again?
This moment defined it.
You almost heard your heart shatter...all over again.
Unfortunately this time, you didn't know if you had the energy to pick up the pieces and put them back together.
You felt hot and cold at the same time, frozen in time but feeling the burn in your eyes and heart. You'd gone still, oh so still wondering and horrified about how you would deal with this.
You'll never be his first choice. Your mind whispered making your heart clench painfully.
"Y/N?" Azriel stepped forward , concern etched into his face.
You instinctively stepped back, hoping that physical distance could repair something ..... anything within you.
Hurt flashed across his features as he noted the movement. You were exhausted . You were so tired of hiding your emotions behind a shield.
So you let him see.
You let him see the pain, the love, the anger, the regret and the fear behind your eyes.
You let him see the tears that trailed down your face and the tremble of your hands.
You let him see what you could've been and what would never be anymore.
Once the understanding dawned upon him, you turned around and walked away leaving behind the fragments of your heart at his feet.
A/N: That was DRAMATIC SHEEESH.

THE STRINGS OF FATE (AZRIEL X READER)
A/N: I've wanted to write a series based on a dark , mystery themed vibe for so long and I thought this would be a good way to start it off. I get to write about my favourite characters and transform it into something a bit darker and mystery fuelled. So I'm hoping you guys enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed imagining it.
!! The image below does not belong to the author !!
Genre: Suspense thriller, Romance
Tumblr media
Summary : The Prophecy. A band of words that incited terror in people but you had long since learnt that the fear of the unknown strikes deeper.
The prophecy was just the beginning of the end.
Warnings : Mentions of violence
Tumblr media
PROLOGUE
"You would be a fool to not involve your cousin, Rhysand." Amren said coldly for the umpteenth time that night. "There is a reason the prophecy refers to the both of you. Don't try to change the course of fate boy. Not even a Lord of the Night can cross the Mother."
"I would be a fool to lead her into the arms of a certain death. If ignoring a prophecy is what must be done to keep her safe, I will do it." Rhys was growing more agitated as the conversation turned south.
"Saving one girl is worth the lives of millions?"
Silence prevailed at Amren's question. The office in the River House enclosed a dark and gloomy atmosphere as if detecting the undertone of the conversation and the issue at hand. The faelights flickered casting deep shadows across the Fae and Illyrians that had gathered in the room.
Hands clenched on the table, Rhysand took in deep breaths appearing to fight an internal battle. He had too much to lose. Too many to fight for. What was the purpose of being the most powerful high lord the world had ever seen if he couldn't keep his own family safe? He was tired of losing people, tired of fighting, tired of wondering if tomorrow would be someone's last.
"I promised her that no harm would come to her as long as I live." He said softly, seeming to speak to himself. "I made sure she was safe from Amarantha, from Hybern and mostly from myself. If it were to become public knowledge that we are related, they will hunt her down. They will torture her, use her and kill her mercilessly."
Amren's eyes softened at the agony in his voice. "The world is a cruel place, Rhysand. We do not have say in the destiny that has been chosen for us. We must simply walk, trudge and crawl along the path."
He let out scornful laugh, running his hands through his hair agitatedly. "It has been especially cruel to us I think."
Feyre's eyes lined with tears at her mate's heartache. She'd known about the things he had done to keep his cousin far away even if it hurt him. To see him unravel now because of a Cauldron damned prophecy was distressing to watch.
"Rhys." Cassian spoke into the silence that had claimed the room yet again. "I promise you, I'll keep her safe. No matter what comes her way."
"So will I." Azriel stepped up, his shadows stirring over his shoulders.
"All of us will." Feyre declared, her hand coming to rest on her mates shoulder and giving it a gentle squeeze. Her touch seemed to relax Rhysand immediately, his shoulders drooping underneath her hand.
Placing his head in his hands, Rhysand took in a deep breath, the battle within his mind coming to a conclusion. Feyre's grip tightened lightly, giving him the energy to push through yet another decision that would haunt his dreams for the rest of his life.
"I'll go visit her myself. Explain the situation. The Prophecy. All of it. Whether she comes or not , is upto her." The others nodded in agreement.
"That is the least I can do for her. Give her a choice..... live or die."

'SOMEONE' (AZRIEL X READER)- PART 2
Summary: You are convinced that Azriel was the one to send the note. Anxious about facing him, you lose yourself in your head but strangely, things are turning out...weird.
Warnings: Mild swearing
Tumblr media
A/N: Thankyou so much for the response on the first part you guys! It was supposed to be a one shot but due to popular demand, I wrote down a second. Not gonna lie, I'm a bit nervous about this because peer pressure haha. Really hope this meets expectations. Did my best to make it fun and playful.
Read Part-1 here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'It's hard not to pry when you're involved.' The words kept flitting through your mind , jumbling your thoughts and stirring up a butterfly party in your stomach.
You knew it was from Azriel. Who else could it be ? Not believing it at first, you tried to think of all other possibilities and came up with zero. No else could possibly know about it.
Except him.
After stewing upon the unexpected turn of events for a good couple of hours, you did something anyone else in your position would've done.
You tried to hide.
From a spymaster.
You were really setting standards in the department of intelligence.
It had all started when you were having lunch with Cass and Mor at the House of Wind. "How was your new book?" Mor asked stuffing herself with the mashed potato in front of her. "It was alright. It just felt a little flat." you stabbed at the piece of chicken on your plate.
"Why the gloomy face? Everything okay?" Cass looked at your face intently. You sat up a little straighter, forcing a small smile onto your face. "I'm great."
"Are you on something?" Your head shot towards Mor, a flabbergasted look on your face.
"What made you say that?"
"You've been acting weird since yesterday and just this morning you stared off into space with a stupid smile on your face. Now, you're gloomy. I've seen this before--"
"Oh for Mother's sake, I'm not on anything Mor." A choked laugh burst out of you at the incredulity of it.
"Is it because of the stable boy thing yesterday? Shit Y/N, we didn't know you still --"
You narrowed your eyes at Cass , daring him to finish that statement. He immediately backed off, putting up his hands in the air.
"Just a concerned friend." He said with a teasing smile.
"You guys are the worst." Soft laughter was shared between the three of you before disaster struck.
Footsteps echoed from the stairwell making your head whip towards it. Eyes widening a fraction, your brain was thrown into a whirlpool of thoughts , each one fighting for dominance over the other. You knew with absolute certainty that it was him. There was no one else in the house. You also knew the sound of his footsteps but that was a fact to be pondered upon on a different day.
Wait, he was a spymaster. Why was he making a sound in the first place?
He wants you to know. Doesn't want to catch you off guard. The still functioning part of your brain helps you out.
"Are you having a seizure?" Mor's voice registered in your head.
"No , but I might." you muttered under your breath, your body reacting before your mind could give it a command. Almost stumbling from your chair all the while trying to look as unbothered as possible, you excused yourself from the table mumbling a reason to your companions.
Exit points available. The stairwell. Your mind supplied. YOU CAN'T PASS BY HIM. DO BETTER.
The plant. - THE PLANT ?! What were you supposed to do ? Photosynthesize yourself ?!
Under the table.- Ah yes. Have a front row view to his crotch. Way to go.
Balcony.- We don't have WINGS! You screamed at yourself.
The door to your right.- Finally. A good option.
Your face must have exhibited a plethora of emotions during the internalized battle with yourself because Mor and Cass were staring at you like you had two heads.
"Y/N. Please sit down. Something is seriously wrong." Cass said rising from his chair.
"No. No. I just forgot to do something very very important. I'm going to be screwed. I just need to---"
"Have lunch. I'll help you out with whatever it is." The voice like night whispered over your skin setting off goosebumps in its wake. His scent enveloped you, taunting and teasing your senses. It almost seemed to whisper- Look at me.
So you did.
You had expected a smirk or a smile or even a twinkle in his eye. Nothing. No hint or trace of what had happened. No clue to suggest that he knew or that he was the one to send the note.
What if you were wrong? What if it wasn't him but someone else playing a joke on you?
"No it's alright. I..." You didn't get to finish the sentence as he pulled your chair back and motioned for you to sit down.
Sighing out loud you returned to your place at the table trying not to look at Azriel as he took the seat across. "What did you forget?" Cass was starting to sound suspicious. Racking your brain for a quick and believable answer, you blurted out "I have to respond to a letter. A very important one."
The double meaning of your reply hit you the moment it left your mouth. Your body betrayed you and turned your gaze towards Azriel.
Nothing. Blank as a slate.
Starting to grow frustrated, you stabbed into your chicken a little too enthusiastically.
"It's already dead." Azriel said dryly, not even bothering to look up from his food.
Mor let out a snort and thankfully started to recall a conversation she had with a friend of hers. You could feel the tension leave your body as the conversation and attention was steered away from you.
Get your shit together.
Fortunately, all of you were done eating not long after and everyone went back to their duties. Azriel hadn't said or done anything for the rest of the afternoon and you were seriously starting to doubt if you were wrong.
You made your way back to your room trying to make sense of your emotions along the way. There was a sense of relief that Azriel didn't know and yet it was tinged with the undertones of disappointment that he didn't know after all.
Did you want him to know or did you not?
You didn't know. UGH. Idiot.
Stepping into your room, you almost missed the note that caught under your foot.
Fuck. Another one.
Heart thudding painfully, you picked it up with trembling hands. It read:
Anyone is capable of falling in love with your heart. Me? I want to be the someone you give it to. -'Someone'
A/N: I did not intend to end it this way at all but here we areeee. Hope you guys enjoyed it !

A 'TEA' PARTY (AZRIEL X READER)
Summary : The prince of Montesere was a heartthrob with his exceptionally good looks and charismatic words. You were raving about him to the girls but Azriel was having none of it.
Warnings : Nooone
A/N: You guys have no idea how EXCITED I was to write this. This is definitely one of my favourites. Enjoy !
"And he said 'I'll make time for you. Always.' I DIED. LITERALLY DEAD DIED." You said waving your hands animatedly.
The girls oohed and aahed while clutching their drinks. Feyre pretended to swoon, Mor was holding a hand to her heart and Elain went starry eyed. Nesta remained stoic but you could see the hint of a smile gathering at the corner of her lips. You would bet a 100 marks that it was straight out of one of her romance books.
"What's going on ?" heads whipped to the door where Gwyn and Emerie stood holding more snacks.
"Just in time! Get over here. You guys are missing out on top secret information." Mor helped them out with the snacks, sharing a shy look with Emerie.
"The Prince of Montesere is what is going on." Nesta said, a sly smirk on her face.
"Ooo..I've heard he's quite the charmer." Gwyn piped in and everyone nodded their heads enthusiastically.
"We think he has a crush on Y/N." Elaine said making a stupid grin crawl onto your face.
"What the fuck? Details PLEASE." Emerie grabbed the bowl of popcorn placing it on her lap to share with Mor.
A rush of joy consumed you as you looked around the room. All the girls were finally taking some well deserved time off and you were glad that you could spend it with each other.
"Okay." leaning forward as you channeled your inner storyteller. "Sooo...let me just start off by saying he looks DIVINE. Dark hair, dark eyes and don't even get me started on his voice...UGH. I think my ovaries might have exploded."
"Wait hold on." Feyre carried a confused look on her face. "Are we talking about the Prince or our shadowsinger?"
Silence engulfed the room.
Someone snorted and the entire room descended into laughter. Your face heated up. From embarrassment or from laughing you weren't sure of.
"She definitely has a type alright." Nesta said setting off a new round of laughter.
"OKAY LISTEN IN MY DEFENSE---" you shouted over the chaos.
"Don't even try." Mor was clutching her stomach, slightly wincing at the pain.
"OKAY SHUSH. Y/N CONTINUE !" Gwyn came to the rescue and you shot her a grateful smile.
"Anyways as I was saying.." you shot a pointed look at the girls daring them to say something. All of them had shit eating grins on their face.
Emerie and Mor had already finished half the popcorn.
"He showed me around the city and took me to all his favorite spots. It was very---"
"Did you make out?" Emerie interrupted and the girls leaned forward their eyes twinkling in anticipation.
You were about to respond but your face had already betrayed you , turning a scarlet red. Elaine and Mor squealed , almost falling off their seats. Feyre had a wide eyed expression on her face, her drink long forgotten.
"You should have STARTED with that, you idiot !" Emerie shouted, an incredulous look on her face.
"OKAY SHUSH. The most important question. How was it?" Gwyn made everyone settle down again as she awaited your answer.
You'd just opened your mouth to respond when Nesta asked "How big?"
Spluttering in shock, you smacked Nesta's arm. "I didn't sleep with him!" You hissed in a whisper. "We just made out. He is a really good kisser. I'll give him that."
"Tell me what this male is bad at. Why aren't you with him already?" Elain asked taking a sip of her tea.
"Honestly, he's too good to be true but.."
"He isn't a certain someone." Feyre finished for you, eyes softening in understanding. You'd never told the girls about your infatuation with Azriel but they knew. Somehow, they just knew.
You didn't bother denying it and just shrugged nonchalantly. A wave of understanding passed through the room. Almost everyone had been in a similar position before. Sometimes your soul craved another's so violently, it made you blind to anyone else.
"Well..it was fun while it lasted." you said breaking the silence.
"For two days." Emerie laughed softly.
"You should tell Az---" Mor was interrupted by the opening of the door. Seven pairs of eyes focused on Azriel as he stood at the door , looking sheepish.
"Look who's hereeee." Feyre said playfully, a blush rising on Azriels cheeks as he bowed his head.
"Rhys wanted me to grab a book." he muttered softly, edging towards the wall and trying to ignore the six pairs of eyes with a mischievous twinkle in their eyes.
You were just utterly mortified. Did he hear everything?
I put up a sound barrier. Wouldn't want the Illyrian babies snooping around. Feyre's voice echoed in your mind.
You shot her a grateful smile which immediately fell as she shot you a wink. Oh no. She was upto something.
"Az, tell Rhys I'll be there as soon as Y/N finishes telling us about her Prince."
Both you and Azriel stiffened, his back still facing you. Emerie dissolved into a fit of laughter that she was trying to hide behind her palm. Nesta's eyes twinkled at the prospect of messing with Azriel.
"I can't believe you're going to be a princess, Y/N !" Elain played along. You swiped a hand across your throat repeatedly, indicating at them to cut it off.
"He basically professed his love to you already. I don't know what you're waiting for." Nesta said looking like she was ready to plan the imaginary wedding if she had to.
Azriels shadows were growing a little agitated, rapidly bouncing off bookshelves trying to find the damned book.
"If he had wings, I'm sure he would have the biggest---" Mor cut off , finishing her sentence by widening her eyes and looking down.
Emerie choked on her tea, making it go up her nose. Mor rapidly hit her on the back trying to help and stop laughing at the same time. In her urgency to move, she'd knocked over the tea pot spilling hot tea over Gwyn's leggings.
Gwyn stumbled out of her seat fanning her hands at her legs like it would help. Elain grabbed the jug of water and threw it on Gwyn's leggings soaking the carpet beneath her. Feyre who had been about to fill a glass with water for Emerie stared at her empty hand where the jug had been.
Nesta watched the entire scene unfold before her eyes with mild interest , sipping on her tea.
You just stared, absolutely and completely horrified by the turn of events.
A tendril of shadow made its way over to you and tucked a strand of hair that had fallen in front of your eyes behind your ear. You shivered from the sudden coolness and turned your head towards Azriel.
Wearing a cool mask of indifference, he walked out of the room pretending like nothing ever happened.
A/N: AHHHH, this entire thing made me feel some type of way.
Please take a min to leave a comment and let me know if you liked it as much as I did !!

'HIGH' PRAISE (AZRIEL X READER)
I am on a roll damn. Another idea that I jotted down as quick as I could. Enjoy !!
Summary: Mirthroot and alcohol can work in your favour sometimes. You have a very interesting conversation with Azriel.
Warnings : Mention of substances, mild swearing. MDNI !
"You are a saviour Y/N." Mor said taking a hit from the mirthroot joint. The party was in full swing downstairs but you and Mor had found solace in her balcony.
"Don't thank me. Thank the male who was nice enough to give it up." you said taking your turn.
The lightness in your head was making you giddy and talkative. You could feel the slight tingle at your nerve ends, you body feeling detached from reality.
"He probably wanted to get into your pants."
"I know."
Mor let out a bark of laughter at that statement and leaned back against the wall. Her eyes had taken on a reddish tinge and you were sure that yours were probably worse. Your mouth felt numb and you smacked your lips cringing at the dryness of your mouth.
"I need something to drink. And eat. Chocolate cake sounds good. Chocolate cake with a side of yoghurt sounds even better. Add some good wine to it. What do you think?" your mind was moving too fast for your mouth to catch up to.
"It sounds terrible. Let's do it." You and Mor giggled clutching each others hands. That was some really strong mirthroot.
You made your way back to the party hyper focusing on every step being taken. Being high and face planting did not seem like a good combination. Your brain was a different entity, screaming at you to act normal. It was a party for fucks sake. Who acts normal anyways?
Grabbing Mor's hand , the both of you made your way over to the drinks table dodging your way through familiar faces. You refused to speak to anyone until you got your hands on the wine.
After chugging down half a bottle to quench your thirst, you noticed Azriel sitting with another male chatting about something.
"Mor."
"Yeah?"
"I think Azriel and I would make a fantastic couple."
The shattering of glass snapped you out of your hyper focused state for a beat.
It wasn't Mor.
Oh.
Back to hyper focused state.
"You would." she responded , a completely serious expression gracing her face.
"Should we tell him?" you asked, an illegal amount of bravery shooting through your veins. Not a single cell in your body thought this was a bad idea.
A new wave of idiocy hit you. The effects of the wine and mirthroot combined were doing wonders for your sanity right now.
"We should. Come on." This time, Mor was the one dragging you through the crowd, once again dodging everyone.
"Az!"
He turned to look at Mor, his own slightly glazed from the amount of alcohol he had consumed.
"Y/N thinks---"
The male that was speaking to Azriel stood up and interrupted Mor, asking for a dance. Immediately forgetting why she was there, Mor walked away with him leaving you with Azriel.
"What do you think?" Az asked, his voice husky. Ugh, it was doing strange things to you.
"I think---"
"Are you high?" Az asked, holding in his laugh.
"Az you idiot. You never ask someone who's high if they're high. Way to ruin it!"
"Okay my bad. Sorry. Come here."
He motioned to the space next to him on the couch.
"No. No. I have chocolate cake plans. I just wanted to let you know that I think...and Mor thinks as well...that we would make a fantastic couple. I mean look at you. Look at me. Stunners. Jaw droppingly good looking. What's stopping us?"
Az looked thoroughly amused as you continued defending your statement.
"Y/N." he said stopping you before you went off on a different tangent. "Come here." This time he motioned to his lap.
Yeah chocolate cake could wait.
You went over and sat down sideways on his lap, wrapping you arms around his shoulders while his hands found their place on your hips.
"Tomorrow, I want you to come to me and tell me the same thing. Then we'll see how well this fantastic couple thing works out yeah?"
He touched his forehead to yours , the affectionate gesture bringing a grin to your face.
"Okay."
"Good girl. Now come on let's get you some chocolate cake."
"Fantastic."

STOLEN KISSES (AZRIEL X READER)
Ran here to type this out as fast as I could. Needed to put it into words before the idea slipped from my mind.
Summary: You and Azriel are seeing each other but have decided to keep it a secret. Somehow, it makes it all the more exciting.
Warnings: Mentions of smut. MDNI!
Rainy day cuddles with Az as he runs his fingers down your arm leaving a trail of goosebumps behind. Everyone is occupied elsewhere finally giving the both of you time to relax together and bask in each others presence.
Stolen kisses in dark corridors as the both of you try to make the most out of the limited time you have. The risk of getting caught gives you a heady rush. Something was seriously wrong with you but you didn't care as long as you had him.
Holding in your moans and whimpers as he takes you over and over again in his room leaving you a writhing mess beneath him. He lets out his groans into your mouth, whispering dirty praises in you ear as you come undone around him. (THIS MADE ME FEEL SOME TYPE OF WAY PLEASEEEEE.)
The soft brush of his wings against you, a stroke of fingertips against exposed skin, glances that last longer than necessary and stares so intense, it feels like he's undressing you with his eyes.
The way your eyes flick to his when you enter a room only to find him already looking your way. The soft smile reserved only for you thrown your way that makes your heart flutter and toes curl.
The marks left on your body only in places he can see and touch. The memory of him leaving soft kisses over each and every single one of them.
The way he makes a tendril of shadow run over your skin underneath your dress, teasing and taunting you in front of everyone.
The way he is attuned to your emotions and always gets you your favorite dessert after you had a tough day. You didn't even have to say anything. He just knew.
A/N: That's it. I'm just gonna go daydream about him. You should too ❤️

DISTRACTIONS (AZRIEL X OC)-PART 3
Distractions is a collection of short stories whose main characters are Azriel and Nyra (OC).
It's established that there is some heavy tension between them (everyone suspects lol) and I decided to put into words a few visualizations I've had of the both of them just pining for each other, playing hard to get, flirting, a bit of angst, maybe smut, some fluff and overall just being HELLA CUTE OKAY.
Part 3 of the collections of short stories!! No specific reading order to be followed.
PART 1 / PART 2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary : Nyra and Azriel finally meet after a month. What starts off as a pleasant conversation branches out into something more. Warnings: Angst , mild swearing, bit of smut (i think?) .
Enjoy !
Tumblr media
Nyra was fed up. Everything, everywhere all at once was going wrong. For the past few days, all she had done was wake up, fix shit and have a fitful sleep.
She came back home to Vallahan a month ago and had been served bad news on a silver platter. The nobles were planning an intervention to add a new clause to the tax benefit laws. This wasn't something new that had to be tackled but it had never been held over the courts head before. If this wasn't handled delicately and shut down definitively, the court would have a civil war on their hands.
"I will say this once and only once." she stared down the Lord of Fendale, her face a carefully crafted mask that betrayed no hint of emotion. "The laws exist for a reason---" she raised a hand as she noticed the Lord open his mouth to interrupt her. "NOT for you to change them as per your personal interests. So if you have any legitimate reason for your proposal my lord, you will present it to the ENTIRE court. I will not be tolerating anymore personal visits."
She motioned towards the door not giving him a chance to speak up. She had had enough of this idiocy for a lifetime. The Lord fortunately took the hint and left the room slamming the door behind him. That fucking cun---.
"Another visitor for you my Lady."
"If I see one more noble parading in here like they own the damn place, I will stab them with my pencil. Let them know beforehand. Would serve as a fair warning don't you think?"
"Fair enough." a dark and smooth voice responded. The scent of night chilled mist and cedar hit her bringing a smile to her face.
"That applies to you as well, Shadowsinger."
"I am not a noble." the sound of boots tapping across the wooden floor came closer , the male now in front of her casting a shadow across the reports she was trying to read.
"You did walk in here like you own the damn place." The words in front of her might as well have been an entirely new language. Her brain refused to acknowledge anything else when he was nearby.
"Was I meant to take an appointment?" a teasing tone laced into his voice.
"Would've been suitable."
"And here I was thinking you would always make time for me. It's not reciprocated I see."
Scarred hands placed onto the table entered her field of vision and she finally looked up meeting his gaze.
After an entire month of restlessness , irritation and exhaustion, something in Nyra finally settled. It felt like walking into an open field, taking in a huge gulp of fresh air and feeling the heaviness leave your body only to be replaced by a pleasant humming sensation.
"Hello, Az."
"Hello, Nyra." a delightful grin graced his face.
The greeting alone seemed to charge the air around them. The memory of him kissing her neck sprung into her head and she pushed it out immediately. Now was not the time.
She had thought of that moment every day since. The feel of his lips brushing against the skin of her throat, the shared breaths, the heat of his skin beneath her fingers. Most of all, she remembered the dismissal at the end of it all. It managed to break her out of her day dreams every single time. It wasn't meant to happen. What was she thinking?
Something on her face must have betrayed her emotions because Azriel's smile dimmed as he watched her. The memory seemed to clutch him in its grasp as well , making him step away from the table. The heaviness slammed back into Nyra with full force.
Well there goes my moment of peace.
Clearing his throat, Azriel pulled something out of the shadows surrounding him. "Rhys asked me to pass this onto you. I managed to find some...information regarding the Lord of Fendale that might be of benefit to you."
"Oh."
Stupid, stupid girl.
Of course he was here on official business. She had duped herself into thinking he was there for her.
When will you learn?
"Right." She read through the report Azriel had written all the while trying to shove her disappointment into a dark recess of her mind.
"This is.....excellent." The information in the report could be used against the Lord and make him rein in the other lords who had fallen out of line.
"Azriel...thankyou. This might solve the problem once and for all."
He bowed his head and gave her a small smile.
"I hoped it would. He's a viper Nyra. Be careful."
"I will."
They settled into awkward silence for a few beats. She hated it. This feeling of walking around eggshells around him, the way they were pretending that nothing ever happened between them. She didn't know how to fix it and she hated herself more for it.
"What is this?" Azriel had moved towards a table littered with official and personal letters. He was clutching one of them in a white knuckled grip, his eyes flying across the page over and over again.
SHIT. SHIT. SHIIIIT.
She knew exactly which one of the dozens of letters he was clutching. She had planned on burning it that morning but clearly had forgotten.
"Az..."
"What. Is. This. Nyra?" he growled, his voice like subdued thunder.
He had gone still. Oh so still, she wondered if he was even breathing.
His eyes were still glued to the letter and she wondered how the page hadn't caught fire from the look he was shooting it.
"It's nothing important. I was supposed to burn it today." she tried to placate him, standing up from her seat and making her way towards him.
"Nothing important?" he turned to look at her and she almost stumbled at the darkness in his eyes. Hot burning anger that raged like a fire, she could deal with. However, Azriel's anger was like cold death. It was honed and sharpened to strike it's opponent when the time came.
She wasn't scared of him.
Never.
She was scared for him.
"Yes nothing." she kept her tone unbothered , tinging it with a hint of annoyance. It wasn't hard really. She was annoyed that he had found it fit to just go through her letters.
"It would be of utmost honor if you were to wed my son---"
"I know what it says, Azriel. I can read." She could feel her anger rising to the surface preparing to clash with his.
"Did you respond?"
"Yes. Yes I did."
"What did---"
"It's official court business."
He scoffed.
He fucking scoffed.
It was enough for her anger take over and make her see red.
"Put the letter down Azriel. You have no right to read those. Oh and next time make a damn appointment. I don't have time to deal with your fucking tantrums."
"Tantrums? You think me reacting to a marriage proposal is a ...tantrum?" his voice had gotten deadly quiet.
"Yes." she hissed through her clenched teeth. "What I do or don't do with my personal life is none of your concern. If I want to marry a Lord's son, I damn well will and YOU are not obligated to know about it."
"Say that again, Nyra. Say that again but be truthful to yourself this time." the intensity with which he was looking at her hadn't subdued. If anything it seemed like he was taunting her.
She stepped closer to him, reaching out a hand and grabbing the letter out of his.
"I..." she started tearing the letter into pieces.
"do not..." she crumpled the pieces in her hands, a few of them fluttering to the ground.
"answer to you." she tossed the remaining pieces onto the table, her hands shaking from the adrenaline rushing through her.
"No. No you don't." he stepped closer to her , towering over her as their gazes clashed. Cold death and a simmering volcano.
"But I do know one thing with absolute certainty. You know what it is?"
She kept silent and refused to look away.
He took another step and let his scent envelop her completely. His shadows were dancing around them, seemingly out of control. They had carved out a dark secluded spot in the bright confines of her office, trapping the both of them in a whirlwind of their emotions.
"You can do whatever or whoever you want Nyra. At the end of the day, it'll always be you and me. Remember that."
Her breath was knocked out of her, the anger being flushed out of her body in an instant. A whole new set of emotions that she had carefully locked away poured into her, leaving her dizzy.
She didn't know who moved first. It didn't matter. Because the next thing she knew, they were a clash of lips and tongue , desperate to get closer and feel everything.
She ran her hands up his shoulders and reveled in the feel of it. How she imagined doing this over and over again every single night. His hands were cupping her face , angling it towards him as he kissed her like it was the first and last time.
He turned them around and placed her on the table, all the while kissing her. Her dress had bunched up to her thighs and Azriel ran his hands over her body as if trying to memorize the feel of every inch.
She ran her hands through his hair, the burn in her core flaring with every second that passed.
"Az." she let out a whimper as he trailed a line of kisses down her neck and chest. Tugging at the collar of his shirt, she brought his lips back to hers, wrapping her legs around his hips to bring him closer.
"You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this." he whispered hoarsely against her lips, taking her lower lip in between his teeth and biting down gently.
A new wave of lust shot through her and Azriel's gaze turned ravenous as he noticed her reddened cheeks and glazed eyes.
"I refused." she said ghosting his lips as she craned her neck to place a soft kiss on his pulse. "There is no one else I would say yes to, Az." she clutched his shirt tighter pressing herself against him. Her breasts brushed over his chest, her nipples turning to peaks. She did it again, chasing the feeling.
He let out a groan that made her clench her thighs around his hips.
"You don't know what you do to me , Nyra."
She bit down on his neck, making him hiss and lace his fingers through her hair.
"The things I want to do to you ...fuck. Not here though. I want to take my time." his breathy voice was doing things to her brain that she could not comprehend. She didn't want to. She wanted to be at the mercy of the moment.
His hand brushed the underside of her breast and she let out an embarrassingly loud moan that had him pulling her head back and latching onto her lips.
As suddenly as it started, it ended.
Azriel pulled back abruptly, blocking her from view as he turned to face the door.
"Lady Ny..." her attendee walked in , stopping dead in her tracks when she noticed Azriel. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know you had company." Her face turned tomato red.
Nyra cleared her throat and spoke as though she hadn't been close to being bent over the table. "Anything urgent?"
"Uh..y-yes my Lady. The nobles have called an emergency council meeting."
Azriel exhaled through his nose in exasperation. Nyra wanted to kill someone.
"Wonderful. I'll be there soon. Thankyou, Elle."
She would be needing that pencil after all.

LET IT BURN (Mob!Bucky x f!reader)
PART- 1
Summary: You were a woman in a mans world and you wanted to be on top. Unfortunately, the man on top is hell bent on keeping his position and you. When two highly ambitious people meet, the world tends to burn.
Warnings : None....for now.
A/N: Hello hello hellooooo. This is my first Bucky fic and I really hope you guys enjoy this. Didn't mean for it to be a multi part fic but it seems things are going in that direction. Let me know if you like it!
Tumblr media
"Remind me again Edith. Why exactly am I supposed to watch my mouth around this buffoon?"
"His name is Bucky, Y/N. Please. He has the East in his grip. We need a way in. Connect the dots." Edith pinched the bridge of her nose with her thumb and index finger trying her best not to strangle you.
You held in a giggle at her exasperated state and tried to put forward your best behaviour.
Kind of.
A little.
A very minute amount.
Ugh, who were you kidding? You were definitely not looking forward to this meeting. The issue wasn't the matter to be discussed. The issue was that you had to pretend to be someone else to satisfy 'Bucky's' ego.
"Alright. Alright. I promise I'll be on my best behavior." Running your hands over your black halter neck full length gown, you admired yourself in the mirror. If you could whistle, you would have.
"Just make sure your best behavior isn't the worst he's faced."
Tsk. Good point. You reapplied your red lipstick and wiped away an excess smudge with the tip of your nail.
"Let's go." you walked away from Edith, your PA, making sure to revise the plans in your head. There would be nothing more embarrassing than to forget the specifics of the deal you were going to cut. A woman in a mans world was a tough place to be. You had to be ten times smarter, bolder and sharper than the men. Even then, success wasn't guaranteed.
The doors to the meeting room were open revealing to you the man whose world you wanted to conquer.
You weren't blind. The man standing in front of you was the definition of attractive. It wasn't just the face either. It was the confidence and arrogance oozing out of him that made you run your eyes over his form. At least he would be easy on the eyes.
"Miss Y/N. Pleasure." Bucky held out his hand staring at you expectantly. A pleasant smile played along his face, softening the sharp angles.
Calloused. A man who likes to get his hands dirty. You thought to yourself as you shook his hand and reflected the smile being shot your way.
"Mr. Buf--Bucky." Shit. "I trust the end to this meeting will be as pleasant as the start."
"Hopefully, even better." he said , a hint of suggestion lacing his tone.
You almost scoffed at the suggestion and snatched your hand away making your way to the chair.
"This will take but two minutes, Y/N."
You stopped abruptly before the chair, watching Bucky in the mirror on the wall across. He stalked forwards, placing one hand in his pocket, the other tracing the table adjacent to him. Your eyes caught onto the movement of his fingers and the deliberate slowness with which he traced the edge of the table. His gaze however, was locked onto your reflection in the mirror.
He was keeping track you realized. He wanted to notice every flicker of emotion, every twitch of your body and every catch of your breath as he spoke to you.
A man who liked being in absolute control.
"So you've made up your mind before hearing my proposal then?" you asked meeting his gaze in the mirror.
He stopped a few feet away tilting his head and letting a taunting smile grace his face. It almost seemed predatory. Almost.
"I did not make my way to the top by not knowing the intentions of others Y/N. I make it a point to know everything."
"And..?"
Rapping a knuckle against the table, he continued his saunter towards you, this time stopping a few inches from your back. "I have one condition. Just one. Agree to it and you have unrestricted access to my ports and my men."
A shiver ran up your spine and alarm bells went off in your head. This was bad. Something was very very wrong.
Maintaining your calm facade, you asked "What is this condition?"
Bucky leaned closer , his face adjacent to yours. Your gazes clashed in the mirror, his blue eyes honing in on yours with a predatory glint. Neither of you looked away as he bought his lips to your ear and whispered softly "I want the key to your empire."
Well, shit.
