I love that not only is this my most popular post, but that people are still consistently coming back to it after FIVE MONTHS.
So I guess I'll be seeing y'all when the next saga comes out?

I had a conversation somewhat similar to this, where I told my mom about how I feel demiromantic. Her response was "I mean I feel the same way, but idk why it needs a label." She may not want to accept the label, but I learned a lot about my mom that day and we have an understanding that goes beyond words.
Since telling my Mum that I considered myself ace, I already noticed that she was a bit… too interested, if you want to say it like that. Asking for “signs”, or how being ace feels like… I tried to answer her to the best of my ability, giving her links to websites that would explain better as I ever could.
Today she said, very quietly, “Do you think I could be ace, too?”
And I said very carefully “If you think it suits you, I don’t see why not”
And my Mum, my strong, self-confident Mum, who never once  has ever felt uncomfortable in her own skin as far as I know, beamed in relief. Relief.
Because she never knew. Because getting married young and bearing children for her husband (meaning sex) was expected of her. Because everyone gave her the feeling as if something would be wrong or broken about her if she didn’t want, didn’t do that.
Because her whole life long, she thought there was something wrong with her.
I’m honestly torn between feeling happy and relieved for her, and angry that humanity has such trouble with showing some understanding to those who don’t fit in the boxes society has designed for all of us.

If it can be my turn for show and tell, I want to share something fun!
Recently I went to see Em Beihold in concert, and it was an absolute blast! The opener was a singer named Madelline, who I hadn't heard of until the day of the concert. During "Here for the Beat", she ran down into the audience and danced with my friend and I, grabbing our hands and jumping with us.
I tagged her later in an Insta story thanking her for a great time, and she responded in my dms thanking me. I asked her if she had any advice for starting to make music (I'm a music major) and she sent me 3 voice memos explaining some tips!
All-in-all it was just a great experience and she was so super nice!

Okay so that relationship lasted less time than it takes to clear a room with a flashbang.
Starting a new relationship is so weird. Like, I could totally make out with you right now but idk if we're close enough for me to tell you about my drama with my bio dad.

I'm so used to having to drop a lot of backstory to tell a funny story that sometimes I forget that the said backstory is, in fact, extremely depressing.

The year is 2099. Friends and family gather for my funeral. My last request was to have an open casket. The lid of the casket is opened, revealing a smaller casket. Guests watched in awe as the caskets give way to smaller and smaller wooden boxes. Finally, there is a 1x2x1 inch box. My eldest granddaughter opens it, revealing a note. The note reads: "I have donated my body to science". Everybody eats funeral potatoes.

Round 2!
Round one was quite the bloodbath, and we lost many strong candidates. I will make a comprehensive list at the end of this with data and all that kooky stuff, but for now, here's the next poll!
Hey y'all, I'm making a giant tournament bracket for every single Taylor Swift song to find the ultimate song above all others. If you'd like to vote, please follow the link to the form for the first vote (all entries are anonymous).
All the song pair-ups were randomly generated so don't come at me lol

I don't know why and I can't explain it, but the intro to Dance the Night Away by Dua Lipa sounds like the intro to Tradition from Fiddler on the Roof.
I don't think this means anything, it's just interesting.

My friends and family are trying to set me up with (admittedly quite attractive) men, and I should be so happy about it. I do want to go on dates, but there are so many things I'm afraid of. What if they don't like how I look? Or they like how I look but hate my personality? Or worst of all, what if they like me a lot? I can't handle that while I'm still stuck on another guy

It had always been considered a town mystery why the river switched directions halfway. Those on the north side attributed it to the moon tides, conveniently forgetting that the nearest beach was over 4,000 miles away. Those on the south side claimed it had something to do with the earthquake of 1848.
Newer residents of Splitrock tended to scoff at the tall tales, as only the elders told the stories, passing the rumors from person to person like honey dripping from their words. Only the elders even cared about the switch-current at all, as it hadn't caused any major issue to the town's function and certainly didn't invite any tourism beyond the occasional hippie looking for energy hotspots.
The Town Sheriff was rather tired of these persistent rumors. No true harm had come from the silly talk that had evolved. So what if Old Barry thought the river had swallowed up his wife? It didn't matter once he realized she was at home, cooking dinner as usual. Barry continued, of course, to claim that the woman making his porridge was most certainly not his wife, but that man hadn't been right in the head for over ten years now. Luckily for the Sheriff, Old Barry was such an old fool that using any sort of technology was "too hard" to learn in case of an emergency. The Sheriff decided long ago to take his complaints with a grain of salt.
Young adults living in the newly developed part of town loved the river and used it often as a meeting spot for friends and lovers. The directional change made the water nice and still for about 300 yards, creating the perfect swimming hole for skinny-dipping. The elders hated the young adults, and the young adults hated the elders right back.
The elders hated the young so much that when the body of twenty-year-old Catherine Eckels was found at the swimming hole, missing the bottom half of her jaw, the elders didn't have any tale to spin regarding the cause of the tragedy. The only thing they would tell the Sheriff when asked was a single sentence:
 "The river wanted blood."
