Very long Initial thoughts and first impressions on the Caribert Archon Quest in the tags. Spoiler alert!!

Pairing: Azriel x reader
Prompt: “Why are you staring at me like that? Like you’re either going to fuck me or kill me”
Plot: the reader and Azriel are hiding in a closet in the court of nightmares. This wouldn’t be a big deal, if it weren’t for the fact you hated each other.
A/n this is a 18+ post. I’m currently planning on writing an angsty Rhysand fic, followed by a Rhysand/reader/Cassian love triangle fic that might have two endings
ACOTAR Masterlist
Prompt List
Tumblr media
You knew you were going to have a horrible night the second Rhysand announced you were all going to the court of nightmares. He had tasked you and Azriel with retrieving something from Keir without him knowing. Unfortunately, you and Azriel were arguing about something so trivial that you didn’t notice guards were around the corner until Azriel’s shadows alerted him.
“Fuck” Azriel cured and dragged you into a cramped closet nearby.
You were about to scold Azriel for his actions when he placed his hands over your mouth and whispered: “There are guards around the corner.”
You started to panic because you typically picked up when a threat was nearby, but because you were too preoccupied with arguing with Azriel, you missed the signs. You swatted Azriel’s hand away and turned around so you weren’t facing him anymore.
Azriel wanted to tease you for your actions when you decided to lean forward and place your ear against the door so you could hear when the guards passed by. In doing so, your ass ended up being pressed up against Azriel’s crotch and causing him to accidentally let out a low moan.
That moan didn’t go unnoticed. You looked at him and mouthed: “What the hell was that.”
Azriel ignored your questions instead; he tried to steady his breath because you kept moving your ass against his crotch. He started mentally scolding his body for reacting to your movements, feeling himself growing hard against you.
You noticed something poking you from behind and asked: “What the hell is poking me?” and continued to move until you felt Azriel’s hands on your waist.
“Stop moving,” Azriel growled into your ear, causing you to stop your movements.
You carefully turned around and were met with Azriel’s eyes staring you down: “Why are you staring at me like that?”
“Like what?” Azriel asked, even though he knew what you meant.
“Like you’re either going to fuck me or kill me,” you replied as you moved away from the door and tried to move to the other side of the closet but realized how cramped the closet actually was.
A smirk appeared on Azriel’s face at your response and pulled you closer to him “Fortunately for you, I don’t want to kill you-”. Azriel lifts you up by your thighs and pins you up against the wall of the closet.
A small moan escapes your lips when you feel Azriel’s lips on your neck, his clothed erection pressed firmly against your core. “Azriel,” you whimpered while tangling your fingers in his hair: “what are we doing?”
“We’re doing what Rhysand told us to do decades ago,” Azriel’s groaned, his lips making their way up to your lip: “We’re going to fuck it out.”
One of Azriel’s hands slipped from your waist and made its way under your revealing dress: “You dirty little whore, were you planning on getting fuck tonight?” Azriel teased when he realized you weren’t wearing underwear.
“Maybe,” you teased back and caused Azriel to stop his actions: “Maybe I’m just following through with a dare. I guess you’ll never know.”
Azriel bit your lower lip in response as he managed to lower his trousers and started teasing your entrance with his cock. “You’re already wet for me. Did our little argument earlier cause you to get this wet?” Azriel murmured as he ran his cock up and down your folds a few times before he finally decided to push himself inside you.
“Fuck” you both said in unison.
You were so caught up teasing Azriel, that you didn’t think to look down and see how big he was until it was too late.
Fortunately for you, Azriel waited a few minutes so you could adjust, but he started to. As soon as you did though, nothing was stopping Azriel from thrusting into you as fast or as rough as he wanted, and you enjoyed every minute of it.
Since this was decades' worth of pent-up tension between you, neither one of you wanted sweet and gentle. You wanted to release all the anger you had bottled up all this time.
Scratches and bite marks littered your and Azriel’s body as Azriel managed to change your position and had your face against the wall while he took you from behind. “I’m so close Az,” you cried out.
“Not yet,” Azriel managed to say, pulling out and turning you around so he could see you “I need to see you’re pretty, little face when you cum”.
You were going to complain about no longer having the shadowsinger inside you when lifts you by your thighs again and quickly buried himself inside you.
It only took Azriel a few more thrusts until he felt you tightening around him and finally cumming around his cock “Azriel!” you cried against his neck; his shadow swirled around your body as he fucked you through your orgasm.
Once your orgasm slowly washed away, you asked: “Can I touch your wings,” when you noticed Azriel was close but hadn’t orgasmed yet. Azriel, too caught up in his own pleasure, only nodded before you reached around and carefully caressed the sensitive part of his wings.
Azriel let out a groan as he found himself cumming inside you. “That’s it Azriel,” you whimpered into Azriel’s ear: “Don’t stop.”
Azriel continued his movements until his orgasm had died down.
As much as the two of you didn’t want to, Azriel finally pulled out and set you back down: “Well that was-interesting,” you tried to laugh off while you smoothed down your dress but stopped when you noticed a serious look on Azriel’s face: “What?”
“Mine,” Azriel held onto you possessively: “You’re mine now.”
You felt yourself grinning at Azriel, suddenly feeling possessive over you. “Yours,” you smiled at Azriel: “Only yours.”

SxF 96 Analysis: Some Small Details About the Reveal
Ok, hear me out. I haven't even read the manga for Spy x Family (yet); I've only watched seasons 1 and 2 of the anime, but I've somehow stumbled upon spoilers for the last two chapters (ch. 95 and ch. 96), and other small bits here and there.
And since I am not totally caught up on the story, I hesitate to call this a proper analysis since I'm mostly going off of what I know from the anime at this point. But!
I've been following the chatter and excitement following chapter 96 and I just wanted to throw this quick analysis out there, since I haven't seen some of these details mentioned yet.
So, I'm going to focus on this particular moment, just for what it is. Down the line, after catching up and having all of the character and story details, I might revisit this scene again with additional insight.
Of course, I'm sure we've all seen this panel at this point.
Tumblr media
At first glance, this panel is beautifully drawn. You can tell that it was drawn with a lot of care and attention to detail. Typically, such manga panels are used to emphasize the fact that this is an important moment for these characters and/or the story.
There are even bits of confetti(?) flying around them, reminiscent of cherry blossom petals; this is another known technique used in manga to indicate the emotional importance of a scene for the characters featured.
That all feels pretty obvious, I'm sure. But I also wanted to point out other small details given here, which could potentially add another layer to this scene for folks.
I've seen a lot of discussion around how Anya's admission here is a big deal (and it is). But I haven't seen anyone mention the small detail here that she whispers, "I can read people's minds."
I believe that is also why we see that speech bubble transparently -- to visually show us the softness of her voice in that moment (in addition to representing Anya's willingness to be transparent about herself).
However, let's consider the conversation up until this moment. Right before, Damian had jokingly asked her, "How did you know about my dog and the pond, anyway? What, did you read my mind or something?!"
Of course, he was not expecting Anya to say, "Yes". But it's not the fact that Anya said, "Yes" that makes this scene impactful. Anya could have easily said the exact same words, at normal volume, with a smirk on her face, and nobody would think twice about it. Damian would have immediately understood that she was teasing him. And anyone overhearing their conversation would have thought the exact same thing.
But that isn't what happened. Because Anya was serious in that moment. With a genuine expression on her face, she says, "Yes" and then she whispers her secret to him.
And that is what shocks Damian. That is what causes him to freeze.
In that moment, he's able to sense her sincerity and hear the truth in her words.
His gut reaction is to believe her, whether it's because it's Anya or because of how she said it. It isn't until he has a second to think and his brain kicks into gear that he starts to notice the disparity between what he knows to be true and what Anya is telling him. In a split second, he questions this, and then ultimately rejects the notion that she could be telling the truth.
Why?
The obvious answer would be that what she's told him does not line up with what he knows to be true of reality. The rational and logical part of his brain overrides his heart and his gut, ultimately recognizing this disparity and forcing him to reject Anya's claims.
However, they are at a young enough age that it wouldn't be uncommon to easily believe in "impossible" things like magic or superpowers. So, there's also a chance that it goes a bit deeper than this.
Perhaps this sudden display of sincerity and truth from Anya didn't line up with her typical behavior with him. He's not used to seeing that side of her, and as a result, his mind resorts to him thinking that she's lying to him. He thinks that she's just teasing him. Not only because that's what he expects from her, but also because the only other alternative would be for him to admit that they've just shared a true moment of openness and transparency between them.
Anya's whisper implies, "this is only for you to know." As a defense mechanism, Damian's brain decided that it was more likely that Anya was teasing him than it was that she was being vulnerable with him in that way.
Tumblr media
Another detail from this moment stems from the fact that this reveal takes place while they are dancing together. Partner dancing is an activity that requires cooperation and teamwork. At first, we see Damian and Anya struggle with getting the hang of it, but eventually they start working together.
That, in itself, seems to be a fairly good representation of their relationship with each other. However, even more so, it follows the flow of their conversation in this moment. It isn't until they start cooperating that they start to open up to one another.
And the pinnacle of the conversation -- the reveal -- happens at the exact moment when Damian dips her. Not only does this make for a picturesque panel, but it is also a symbolic visual of what's happening.
Dipping your dance partner inherently requires a level of trust. The person being dipped has to literally put themselves in their partner's hands. Depending on the dip, they are giving up varying levels of control and safety over to their partner. They have to trust that their partner won't drop them, or bring them too close to the floor; they have to give up their balance and trust that their partner can hold the weight that they're giving up. And their partner takes on the responsibility and burden of that person's trust (as well as trusting that the person that they're dipping does not throw themselves around carelessly).
And here, in this scene, despite the bickering we see Anya and Damian do, we see that there is at least that small amount of trust between them. Anya trusts Damian to dip her, and Damian trusts Anya to be dipped.
But underneath the surface level, the fact that Anya whispers her secret to Damian while he's dipping her reinforces the idea that she trusts him with that knowledge. In that moment, she gave up some of her own control and safety, and placed it in Damian's hands. Only his. Her whisper implies, "this is only for you to know." And he's been given the responsibility and burden of deciding whether to hold it, or drop it.

Buddie 615 meta
Tumblr media
Before we really get into it, I’m just gonna snicker for a second over the fact that the death doula is named Natalia. Why? The name is related to the Latin term for Christmas Day, which is the holiday when Jesus was born. So the word that the name comes from is related to birth, natal. There’s a touch of irony there, that they gave this name to the girl who is not just a death doula, but who looks like she’s actually into death (who thinks dying for a few minutes is cool or amazing. I have to say, it’s not. It’s a good thing to accept death as a part of life, one that heightens life’s meaning, and help others do the same, it’s another to think that the physically and emotionally scarring experience of being dead for a few minutes is “cool”) and I think that’s an interesting tone to choose when introducing Buck’s new Love Interest. (if you’re into it, you can find more name meanings for 911 characters here) ~~
Tumblr media
The scene of Eddie and Chris at the cemetery was very touching. It also spoke volumes on how Buck has taken the same role in Christopher’s life as Shannon. We saw in eps 611 as well as this one that Chris is hoping to be heard by the parent that life has taken away from him (Shannon for good, Buck temporarily). What I find interesting is that with the hospital visit, Eddie must understand this on some level. Even with the guardianship reveal, no one has ever explicitly referred to Buck as Chrstopher’s other dad. But he is, and moments like this cement it. We talk about these parallels, but Eddie gets to live them. He witnesses with his own eyes his son talking about Buck in the same way he does about Shannon. Eddie KNOWS what Buck is to their family unit and it’s not just an emergency guardian. ~~
Tumblr media
Which connects me to something I touched upon in my 614 meta, Eddie’s journey. He’s supposedly been okay with dating again since 406, but in the last ep we discovered that he’s still held back by past trauma from his failed relationship with Shannon. She’s featured heavily in this ep, too. Her being Christopher’s mom means she’s a presence in Eddie’s life who will always be there. A reminder of how things can go wrong, meaning romantically, but also just in terms of how unexpected death can be.
Tumblr media
It pained me to go from Eddie admitting in 614 that he didn’t want to be alone, to him echoing the words of their deceased vic, “We’re all gonna die alone.” That’s something I’ve heard people saying not so much regarding the question of whether there would be someone by your side when you pass away. More like, when death claims us, we all embark on that last journey into the dark unknown on our own. Whether there’s something after death or not, we’ll all discover that completely by ourselves. That’s such a deeply lonely thought, and we see Eddie trying to deal with it in this ep by not postponing seeing his parents. He realizes he was wrong to assume they got time, because death might come for us at any given moment, just like it happened with Shannon. It’s a continuation of his journey, which is obviously not over yet, but to me it’s quite surprising how this week’s ep actually joined Buck and Eddie’s with the common theme of death, but specifically death intertwined with their romantic life. I think each of them is such a fascinating character in its own right, so why the need to connect their journeys like this? I am staring at you, 911. ~~
Tumblr media
I was happy that Eddie brought up what a bad idea it is for Buck to be dating someone they helped on a call. This has been a theme with Buck since he meets the snake lady on a call in 101, through Ali in 202, Taylor in 206 and now Natalia. In other words, this has a big, red sign al over it that says it’s doomed to fail, but our Buck is once more failing to notice that. Hopefully the rest of the events in 6b will help him learn and stop making this particular mistake, where he connects his idea of having self-worth only as a firefighter with thinking he can only be romantically desirable to those he helps on calls. ~~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wrote in this ask reply about the insanity of how Buck and Eddie seem to always start dating again in consecutive eps. As if 911 is not unhinged enough about that, we also have Buck and Eddie being obstructive with the other guy’s dating attempts, first Buck suggesting ghosting to Eddie as a way of blowing off his date with Vanessa in 614, and now Eddie right away pointing out that it’s not a great idea for Buck to be dating Natalia.
Tumblr media
We have seen Buddie dating multiple people over the course of almost 5 seasons now, and not a single time have we seen either man on screen approve of their best friend’s romantic partner. Almost like there’s just no one who’s good enough for the man they love so much, right? No one, because on some level, they know what we do, too. That no one else can compete with what the two of them have together. Which is why none of these LIs feel right and acceptable as partners for their best friend. ~~
Tumblr media
I love that right off the bat, we got a reminder that Eddie knows Buck better than everyone, on very intimate levels. Just like Eddie knew when Buck was having an emergency session with Dr. Copeland back in 404, while even Bobby as their captain didn’t, we now saw Eddie knows how well Buck handles his taxes. It’s such spouse behavior. Most of us do not have best friends who keep tabs on how we handle governmental bureaucracy, right? But then the end of this ep circles back to this idea and gives us that scene at the cemetery where Eddie proves that this is true not just when it comes to the small things of daily life. He sees Buck, knows him, understands him and Eddie accepts him in every possible way. Which is why he can say that Buck has indeed been different since the lightning strike, an awareness we don’t hear from anyone else, not even from Maddie, Buck’s very close and loving sister.
Tumblr media
It reminded me of how Buck said in 309 that Eddie can be honest with him. Then in 511 Buck repeated a variation of that, saying Eddie doesn’t have to pretend with him. In 513 and 514, Eddie got to be indeed fully open with Buck, just as this was paralleled in 612, where Buck was honest with Eddie. This ep continued to expand on this theme, with Eddie reassuring Buck that he doesn’t need to be anything for anyone. And I loved that in an ep where Buck has just started dating someone new, where he thinks she sees him better than anyone, the person who still gets him the most is Eddie, and that’s the person Buck shares himself with the most, too. There is not a single thing Natalia said to him or that he said to her during their date that can rival the intimacy of the cemetery talk. And if Buck still needs a wake up call to see that, well. I do think there’s a good chance he’ll get one, maybe even very soon.

Did I hear sugardaddy!jake being mad protective over his girl? Maybe I did 👀👀
Tumblr media
wait... I think I heard it too 👀
Jake night
You know you shouldn’t. You know you should sit pretty and let Jake network. You know you should smile politely and not say a word. You know your role.
Except you feel so sick. Your head feels light and hot and your body feels achingly cold. The sheer, revealing dress you’re wearing is hardly helping. Suddenly you wish that you hadn’t let the coatman take your shawl, but Jake couldn’t keep his eyes off the plunging back of your dress so at the time it made sense. Even now, Jake’s large hand is splayed across your bare back and it’s currently your only comfort.
When another wave of nausea rolls over you, you make up your mind, tugging on Jake’s coat sleeve gently. “Jake.”
His eyes are on you in an instant, no longer interested in whatever Mr. Edwards is saying. That, in itself, is a big deal. Even you know how important the other man is—truly he was the only reason Jake came to this event. But he still turns away from the conversation without a second thought.
Mr. Edwards catches this, his eyes darting between the fabric of Jake’s coat you’re holding between your fingers and your face. He chuckles. “Darling, the men are talking,” he teases and everyone in your group laughs. It’s a joke—or at least that’s what he’d call it if pressed—but you know that he means it. The glint of irritation in his eyes shows that he means it.
“What did you just say?” If Mr. Edwards wanted Jake’s attention, he now has it, the younger man turning on him in an almost incredulous anger.
“I’m kidding, Mr. Seresin,” Mr. Edwards laughs again, but this time he’s the only one laughing. “I only meant to call out the fact that we were in a conversation. Surely you agree it’s polite to wait?”
You shrink into Jake’s side at his words, guilt mixing with the nausea in your stomach.
Jake’s grip on you tightens, his eyes narrowing. “No, I don’t agree. She can interrupt whenever she damn well pleases and if she wants to talk to me, then you’ll wait.”
Mr. Edwards’ eyes widen in surprise, but Jake doesn’t seem to care, already turning back to you with a somewhat softer expression.
“Are you okay, sugar?” He strokes your bare back with his thumb.
You’re mortified at this point, unable to look at him or anyone else in the group, but suddenly the heat in your head drops and you have to physically close your eyes to stop from throwing up. “I— I really don’t feel good,” you admit quietly.
“You don’t? Why didn’t you—” Jake holds the back of his hand up to your forehead. “Jesus, you should have said something.” He takes his coat jacket off, sliding it onto you before signaling to one of the waiters circling the room. “Can you get her a bottle of water?”
The man rushes off quickly and Jake starts ushering you to the front of the building, not even acknowledging Mr. Edwards or anyone else. He keeps you directly in front of him, letting you rest your weight on him and keeping his cool fingers pressed against the back of your neck.
“How do you feel? Can you make it home?” Jake questions quietly and you nod.
You feel relaxed in his coat jacket, turning your brain off because you know that Jake has everything under control. He’ll take care of you.
Already, he’s talking to the valet, trying to get your car brought to the front at, what sounds like, a speed faster than humanly possible. “Don’t we have to say goodbye to everyone?” You murmur suddenly, brows furrowed.
Jake stops only then, pressing a tender kiss to your forehead. “Unimportant.”

What about character design in Tristamp?
Tumblr media
A person had a question for me, what is it about character designs in tristamp? It's like Vash from Tristamp and Vash from Trimax/98 adaptation are COMPLETELY different characters, and my answer to that is: they are REALLY DIFFERENT CHARACTERS, and I'll explain why right now.
Tumblr media
To begin with, I would like to note that I have a great deal of trust in the Orange studio and its co-founder, Eiji Inomoto. Orange is one of the best CG studios in Japan, known for such acclaimed adaptations as "Beastars" and "Land of the Lustrous". These are not just some studio, but a really big guys, and by big I mean that Inomoto's experiments with the frame rate in the film adaptation of Lustrous at one time were a revolutionary thing in animation, which was picked up by the animators of the spiderverse and then that's all led to the beloved dynamic animation of the "Puss in Boots" sequel. I mean, these are THAT big guys. I'm not talking about the fact that Inomoto boosts the development of 3D in the anime industry as much as possible and literally shits from a high bell tower on the fact that everything is spitting with 3D animation purely out of principle.
Okay, the studio is cool, it is unlikely that they will make a bad product, we figured it out, but what about the designs? They don't even look like themselves! Vash does not look like a mop at all, he has lost his leather pants and berets, and looks like some kind of sucker in sweatpants and a windbreaker, and Meryl gives the impression of a schoolgirl who has strayed from the school excursion, instead of the stately lady in caprons, as we used to seeing her. Only Wolfwood hasn't changed much, except that he doesn't know how to tuck his shirt into his pants and has undergone whitewashing (which, by the way, I'm not ironically upset about). So, is that mean designs is bad as hell? Nope. Just because things look different doesn't mean it's inherently worse. Again, remember that tristamp is a REMAKE, and their task is not to stupidly repeat the same thing, but to breathe new life into the franchise, looking at it from a different angle. And I think they did a FUCKING GOOD job on it.
In interviews and at conventions, director Kenji Muto and producer Katsuhiro Takei have repeatedly said that they are big fans of the original manga and the film adaptation of 98, but it was important for them to touch and reveal those aspects of the story that their predecessors did not reach their hands on.
That is why, despite the fact that the Tristamp is very close to the original source (manga), the studio plays out many details differently or even saves them for later, so that the audience can fully experience the development of the characters. Therefore, in Tristamp, everyone looks much younger than their previous versions and / or very different from them.
Tumblr media
The easiest way to prove this, however strange and unexpected it may seem, is by the example of Meryl. In the manga and anime 98, we immediately see her as a stately lady with a bunch of derringers under her cloak, but they don’t tell us how she came to this and what led to this. Yes, there is literally a page in the manga about some colleague who told her about self-defense and sort of taught her how to shoot, but finally he is drawn on one frame and, in general, we don’t give a shit about him.
Tumblr media
While in Tristamp, this colleague has a name and is one of the most main characters - this is Roberto. Throughout the series, he acts as Meryl's senior mentor, protecting her whenever possible and pulling her out of trouble by the scruff of the neck like a kitten. That is why she looks so youthful and charmingly stupid compared to her previous version. Throughout the series, she literally hits herself with her heel in the chest, saying I AM!!! MERYL!!! STRIFE!!! I AM NOT NEWBIE!!! while Roberto calls her the same way, ignoring all her protests in this regard, and I think this was done for a reason. Specifically, in Tristamp we see her almost in the past, when she has not yet learned to protect herself and be fully responsible for her decisions, although she is very eager to do so. Although Roberto is a character, for the most part he is still a crutch and trigger for the development of Meryl. Through his death and the transfer of HIS gun to her, we see right before our eyes how she changes and from a shy "newbie" turns into the confident Meryl Strife. And after the timeskip, they generally show us the scene of exactly how she becomes the senior and takes Millie under her wing. And by the way, her image visually changes too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I repeat once again, there was no such development of the character of Meryl in the manga, in the 1998 film adaptation nether.
Orange build her development completely differently and in their own way, despite the fact that she, in fact, is the same Meryl Strife no less than other versions of her. She just a little different character, which goes to the image already familiar to us, passing through kind of other events
Tumblr media
The same thing happens with Vash! At first, he doesn't look like himself at all, but towards the end, we see how he takes on a more recognizable image. I think that in fact by the second season they will all mature and look much more "canonical", this can be seen from the concept art but in general

Tristump characters go a different way and get a different development, as happened with Meryl above, therefore, I I think we should perceive them rather as completely different characters that have common roots
And by the way, the studio Orange discussed everything very closely with Yasuhiro Nightou (author of the manga) and he gave her green light and creative freedom, because he saw how reverent people are about their job and want to develop the story. He even drew his and studio designs together!!!
Tumblr media
All in all, the tristamp designs are really quite different from the original, but I don't think that's a bad thing, as the studio does it purposefully and cleverly to give them the development that the manga or the '98 film adaptation lacked.
Again, this is my personal opinion, and it’s worth notice here that I’m far from being an old fan and I flew into the fandom just a month and a half ago, so the character design initially did not cause me rejection, like many old fans.
But in this tirade, I tried to be as objective as possible and describe what was what, thanks to come in my ted talk

Käärijä's Veikkaus interview, 5.5.2023
Tumblr media
Ten Questions For Käärijä
In this interview Vantaa's most famous bowl-cut Jere Pöyhönen tells, how he thinks about his Käärijä-named alter ego and why he would sometime want to "whack" Käärijä. Furthermore, he reveals his embarrassing vice - and reminds you that in every one of us there lives a tiny Jesus.
Q1: Why do you have such a funny haircut?
"When I was in junior high, I got a bowl-cut during a break. It was on a whim. There were us two boys, who did it, and we rocked with the bowl-cuts. I've always been whimsical, a guy, who is easy to provoke. I like to try things, and I've never really been embarrassed by anything. We had a few friend groups in Vantaa, with who I hung out with, and I was always the clown in the group. I like to make others laugh and I also like to laugh at myself. The others laughed with me, not at me - or that's atleast what I like to believe!"
Tumblr media
Q2: So, Vantaa - you're a born and bred Vantaa-citizen. What does Vantaa mean to you?
"Quite a lot actually. I think that Vantaa is an under-dog kinda place. It reflected, for example, in hockey, which I used to play a lot. When we played against Espoo, it had emotion! The deal is, in fact, that Vantaa-people hate people from Espoo! [laughter] People from Vantaa are somehow more real than Espoo-citizens or people from Helsinki, more honest. If a Vantaa-person doesn't have money, then for fuck's sake they don't have money, they won't try to hide it, like Espoo-people do. Indeed, Vantaa is the place to be. Or at least the Tikkurila hoods, Myyrmäki on the other hand... We totally aren't any kind of a big and happy family in Vantaa. [laughter] East- and West-Vantaa are completely different things, kinda like the Bronx and Brooklyn. Actually I'm from Ruskeasanta, and for example Ruskeasanta's or 'Rusa' 's Shell (a gas station) has been a significant place in my life. We used to go there with friends on our mopeds and drink coffee and tea, fool around, bully vocational school students."
Tumblr media
Q3: Wait a minute, you've gone to vocational school, too, but you aren't a student who drives around Tikkurila, around the local blocks?
"I haven't really driven there, maybe a couple times. But I haven't been serious about it in that way. I've never been a car-person, more of a moped-person, and that moped I liked more to tune and decorate, than to drive. I painted, tuned and tinkered with it. I, for example, melted Legos on the covering so I could get more plastic on them - no-one could ever guess, what color moped I'd come to school with."
"In my opinion, vocational school was more of a lifestyle than one going to vocational school. Students drove from gas station to gas station and went to Jumbo (a mall) with driving gloves on. I would rather stay at home to sleep and play Habbo Hotel. Sometimes I'd go to meets (meeting organized by youth to come show off their mopeds), and those were fun, but to those, too, we went with a few friends to laugh at the other dudes. [laughter] If I would now go to Rusa's Shell, I hope people would react to me positively. I'm still nevertheless on their side.
Tumblr media
Q4: What kind of memories do you have from Vantaa's Tulisuudelma (a pub, restaurant and music venue)?
"There I didn't go a lot. I was more often at Porkku (Pormestari, a nightclub that has since closed). The few times I was at Tulisuudelma, I sang karaoke. Vesku's 'Hyvää Puuta', that was my favorite. But Porkku was, at least in my mind, Tikkurila's most popular bar. It was a bit like Pinkku (a restaurant called Pingviini), but the cooler guys went to Porkku. [laughter] Yeah, vocational school students went to Pinkku. It might be, that 'Cha Cha Cha' is about a night in Porkku. There I have my first bar-memories. It became my own little home, where all the friends in town came to."
Tumblr media
"'Cha Cha Cha' represents dancing, and dancing represents freedom for me. That, that you have to be able to not be afraid to dance without thinking what the others think, even without drugs. You can see it as a drinking song also, I don't care about interpretations, but to me, it represents a lot more also. I want to encourage people to break free, because it's not about how well you can dance, it's about how you carry yourself. I'm not the most skilled singer, rapper or artist. But I believe in this thing, this madness, and I put 150 points on it. It creates the aesthetic, that he is just crazy and a star, even though really I'm just a regular dude from Vantaa."
Tumblr media
Q5: The song lasts 2 minutes and 55 seconds. Because of those shy of a three minutes you'll soon go on a long trip abroad to perform. What does that feel like?
"As a thought it's damn crazy. How much work - hours, days, weeks, months - and then it's over. Those are probably my life's most important 2 minutes and 55 seconds. I think, that Käärijä is going on a little trip, does what he does best and it goes just the way it is meant to go. Everything doesn't even need to be so fucking thought out and perfect. It needs a bit of improv, my own style. Because I don't like to be bound."
Tumblr media
Q6: You're a pop-star and many people have put a lot of money into your career. Isn't it inevitable, that in some way, you are bound?
"Yeah, that's exactly true. I've had had to work on that. I avoid it, when people tell me things and try to get me to do stuff, that I don't stand behind. It's been hard learning to say no, but it has been a necessary skill. Those people do see Käärijä as a product. It feels like a crazy thought - I'm like a walking billboard. But I'm a human and I have to do my own stuff, my own values, and not be with a note on my forehead saying 'buy this' or 'I'm selling this'."
"I've gone along with a couple things, but those have been the kind that benefit me. I want to rip out everything from those guys - the record label, ad-collabs and everything, and secure it that I'm not being fucked over. This is a rough business. People want a piece of Käärijä, which they can benefit from, so I have to be really alert. And not everything can be measured in wealth. For example, I've done stuff for charity."
Tumblr media
Q7: Many of the stories about you are headlined "Jere from Vantaa", and that's the way you seem like: a nice basic dude. How does that nice basic dude handle all that hassle?
"At the beginning, not so well. I'm humble, and I still have a lot to learn about a certain type of roughness. You have to know your value and value yourself. Who am I, where do I belong, what do I want from life - I think about these and develop all the time. But it's not easy when the big bosses come to say how things are. Then you just have to stay tough and argue against them."
"The piss hasn't got up to my head, because I'm not 20 anymore. If all this had happened at that age, I would most definitely be an asshole. I can differentiate Jere from Käärijä. If on the streets someone films me, or someone sends me suggestive messages on instagram, I know that those are meant for Käärijä, not Jere. They don't really even know Jere, in a way."
"Jere sometimes wonders on red carpets abroad 'why am I here?'. It sometimes feels like a ridiculous circus show - even though I obviously enjoy it and value it. Byt my morals lie elsewhere. I don't appreciate people if they have some great job and money, that doesn't interest me at all. People shouldn't be seen as products, but people should be seen as people and appreciated the way they are. That's why it feels so weird when people go nuts sometimes about this Käärijä-thing, start to cry when they see me. In Madrid one guy fainted because they saw me! It was at the same time like wow, we had created something that had caused this kind of a reaction. But at the same time I think 'what the fuck just happened to you?'."
Tumblr media
Q8: What sort of a relationship does Jere have with Käärijä?
"A really good one, mainly. We have a lot in common. In a way I'm a Käärijä-fan because I have to like the thing I'm doing, and in my mind we're making the best shit in Finland ever. But sometimes, when there's so much of this Käärijä-stuff, I'd like to whack that Käärijä: every time I come home and look in the mirror, there that bowl-cut is. Then I miss it, when I could go as Jere to the shop and be Jere to the people and not everyone would circle around Käärijä: how are you, how are you managing, how's the gigs, how's the music - fuck it. Let's talk about the weather!"
"Käärijä is also an armor. If someone asks to put on the bolero and go lay around for those photos, Käärijä will do it. Jere might not. With Käärijä I'm able and not afraid to do things. But the way that everyone right now wants to benefit from Käärijä, is of course sometimes heavy - and that's Käärijä's fault! He fucking did it! [laughter]"
Q9: If you could choose anyone to go in a sauna with, living or dead, who would you choose?
"That's a tough one. I'm a fan of Rammstein like crazy and I can relate to (the singer) Till Lindeman. But they say he's a really stiff guy. We probably wouldn't have a lot of conversation in the sauna..."
"If Jesus is really a real person in history, I'd maybe choose Jesus. I'd like to discuss with him: what all did he do, what kind of a guy he was. I'm really interested in that. Was he a regular fellow like all the rest of us?"
"I believe, that in all of us, there lives a tiny Jesus. I mean that I don't believe we're just a brain and a lump of meat. We're so much more. I don't necessarily mean supernatural things, but that there's something else, something that we can't reach with our level of consciousness. I don't believe in coincidences. There's always a reason why things go this or that way."
Tumblr media
Q10: Do you have some secret or habit that you're embarrassed about so much that you wouldn't want to tell of it to anyone?
"I don't really have skeletons in my closet like that... Well, this is a bit dumb, but the thing that I'm sometimes afraid to do, is: I like to put ketchup on everything. I put ketchup in meat soup, too. Once I was in a fancy steak restaurant, a great steak in front of me, and I thought, damn I'd kill for some ketchup now. But there were people around, certain type of steak enthusiasts, that I couldn't do it, because people would've judged it really hard. Yeah, maybe it's about being from Vantaa! [laughter]"

HIII I HAD A THOIGHT THAT HAS BEEN KILLING MY MIND AND I NEED TO TELL IT TO SOMEONE OTHERWISE IM GNA EXPLODE
get this . everyone chilling at ramshackle dorm doing their own thing, yuu (and grimm by extension), ace and deuce sitting by the table talking about whatever crosses their mind
Eventually the conversation escalates to birthdays and holidays and ace asks how old Yuu is. Azul interjects with saying Yuu's age from the contract they signed a few months ago, but then Yuu pipes up and tells them that they're one year older than that.
Theres a small moment of confusion until it dawns onto Deuce that Yuy's birthday was a month or two ago and they never spoke a peep about it. Not even to grimm!! And when asked, Yuy makes an excuse like "that was when __ was kind of close to overblotting and I didn't want to make it about me because that'd be so nitpicky—"
It was based off an audio i heard and idk if i want to write it into a short drabble for myself i probably cant since im only on book 2 ueue). But like. its a fun prompt methinks. what would all of them do when they find out Yuu deliberately didn't say a thing about their birthday
🎉
THAT WAS YOUR BIRTHDAY???
Tumblr media
★Reader is Yuu and is 17 years old
★gender neutral
★takes place after the third book
Sorry it's short, hope you like it!
-
"Can we start yet!" Ace complained, head slamming onto the table.
"I told you we're waiting on a couple more people." The perfect told him "I invited Kalim and Azul to join us since Sebek and Jack couldn't make it"
Tonight was the Ramshackle dorms weekly game night, normally it was just the freshmen but Sebek said that Malleus 'needs' his protection and Jack was just to tired from Spell Drive practice.
"They outta hurry up" Epel started, country accent slightly showing through "don't they know it's rude to be late."
A awkward silence fell over the dorm for a moment before a knock echoes through the dorm.
When y/n opened the dorm they were greeted with a cheerful smile and a hug.
"Thank you so much for inviting me!" Kalim smiled "I hope you don't mind that I brought Jamil, I also brought food, well Jamil did, he made it!"
Y/n blinked for a moment, taking in all the words one guy manged to say so fast. They looked over Kalim's shoulder just in time to see Jamil face plant.
"Thank you for the food Jamil" They smiled, giving him a wave.
"If was the least I could do perfect" he stated, not returning the wave.
Luckily Azul showed up before y/n could shut the door.
Just a few minutes later the group was playing some sort of trivia card game where they would either have to answer a question about someone else playing, a question about themselves, or just a random fact. If they got it wrong the next person would answer the same card, whoever got the most questions right won.
"Who is the most followed person in Magi Cam?" Epel read, "That's easy, Neige"
He revealed the answer to show it was correct.
"Of course you would get that one right" Ace complained "Vil never stops going on about it"
Every one just ignoring him looked over at Deuce, who was next to pick a card.
"How old is the person sitting to your right?" He looked over at y/n. "I'm not sure...18?"
They just shook their head.
"I know this one" Azul butted in, ready to take another point "Our contract from a while ago said that they were 16."
One again y/n shook their head. "I just turn 17 last month"
The room went silent for what seemed like forever.
"WE MISSED YOUR BIRTHDAY!" They all shouted in union.
"Riddle is going to have a heart attack when he finds out" Deuce commented, Ace nodding in agreement.
"You should've said something, we could've had a huge party" Kalim whined.
Y/n scratch the back of their head, "It's not big deal, it was right after one of the overblots, plus where I'm from birthdays aren't that big of a deal."
"Jamil we need to plan a party right now" Kalim said, getting up from his seat.
"We have to too" Ace said "Or get Trey and Riddle to do it for us"
Soon everyone had said something similar and got up and left leaving a confused Ramshackle perfect.

9:36pm tsukishima kei
genre: fluff
word count: 1.1k
Tumblr media
“Uno.”
Your gaze shifts from kei then down to the deck of cards, your jaw dropped in disbelief. “How the fuck?”  you can see the smirk on the blonde's face in your peripheral view. Cocky bastard.
“There’s no way you just won for the 5th time!”
“I'm just that good…and you're a loser.” he boasts as he throws his last card onto the deck, stretching his arms to rest behind his back as they hold up his weight. He slightly tilts his head to the left as you stare at him with a scowl on your face, his smirk only widening.
You roll your eyes at his smug expression while mentally cursing yourself for the butterflies that swarm in your stomach at the sight of it. “Whatever I give up.” you let your body fall to the cold wooden floors of your bedroom, your knees pointing to the ceiling.
“Like losers do.” Tsukishima lets out a soft laugh as you raise a middle finger to his view from your resting position. It's a laugh that brings stars to your eyes. stars you hope he can’t see.
But he does. Because as you lie idly on the ground, Kei is sitting up enjoying the neutral expression on your face and the comforting sounds of your small breaths. He takes the chance to take you in while you daze off. The tiny white tank top you're wearing that's risen just enough to reveal your waist. The pink Sanrio pajama shorts that fit loosely around your thighs but so snug around your hips. He silently scolds himself for how his eyes linger at your curves for a while longer before shifting his gaze back to your face. Your position only allowed him to see from a certain angle, one you'd say was unflattering. But he can't help how his heartbeat races when your nose flares so gently as you as you breathe, when he can see just how plump your lips are while imagining how soft they’d feel against his own. Or even how the frames of your questionably large glasses sit on the bridge of your nose. He adores all of it.
And maybe it's the realization that he adores you that has his breath caught in the back of his throat. One that's suffocating and fighting to be released as Kei advises his body against it. And maybe if you hadn't distracted him from his mental battle with your pretty soft hums, of a song you’d had stuck in your head for a week now, Kei would have won that fight. He would’ve kept that breath in the back of his throat and managed to deal with the dread that came from doing so. But he lost.
So he falls back  to the floor in defeat, mirroring your same position before he lets out a frustrated sigh and calls out your name.
“Hm?”
“Would you hate me if I told you I have feelings for you?”
His question has you quickly up on your elbows, mouth slightly parted as you stare at your best friend. “What?”
He can feel regret start to fill his body, so he shifts his arms behind his head as if to make the feeling more bearable. “I have feelings for you” he pauses, taking a deep breath. “And i think i can tell you only now” pause. “c-cause you look so damn pretty with those glasses that are way too big for you and your obnoxiously cute hello kitty pajama shorts.”
You find yourself slowly sitting up as he continues to speak. “And I don't want anyone else to swoop in and make excuses just so they can stare at you like I do.”
“Kei-”
“I'm just telling you cause I hate keeping secrets, you know that.” the words rush out of his mouth, saving him from whatever you were going to say to kindly reject him. “You don't have to respond. In fact, we don't have to ever talk about this again, we can forget about it and-” he’s interrupted by your sudden grab of his shirt, pulling him up and very close to your face.
“Why don't you ever let me talk?” your voice comes out as a whisper.
Kei is quick to shield his coy demeanor with a playful defense, “cause who knows what your dumbass might say if i-”
This time, it's you shutting him up. Tsukishima can feel the warmth blossom in his chest as your lips capture his, the warmth of your hands on his jaw making him lose consciousness of his surroundings. The kiss is delicate, your lips tenderly lapping over his own in such a slow pace that has him fiending for more. His hand goes to rest on your hips, squeezing the plush skin that lies there as he leans into your touch, pressing your bodies as close as they can get. His eagerness brings a smile to your lips, one he devours as he seals your lips together once more before you pull away.
You're both breathless. His hands are still on your hips while your arms on his shoulder, your fingers softly rubbing against his neck. You give him a small smile. “You should kiss more and talk less.”
BONUS!
“This doesn't mean I'm your girlfriend now, just so you know.” you state. You're comfortably seated on Kei's lap, your legs wrapped around his waist as his arms hug yours. You let out a giggle at the confused look on his face. He only blinks, waiting for you to say more.
“Want you to ask me properly.” you explain as you comb your hands throughout his hair, noticing how he leans his head forward as you do. “What, you want me to do some grand gesture like laying roses on your bed that asks you to be mine?” His words are spoken with distaste. But unknowingly to you, if roses on your sheets was what you wanted, he'd do it. He'd do anything you asked.
He lets out a small ow as you flick his forehead. “I didn't say that, idiot. Grander isn't always better. The classic bouquet with a love note sounds nice.”
You assumed your words would go in one ear and straight out the other, so you didn’t expect him to actually ask you. But the next morning, when you were woken up with harsh knocks from your doorstep, you were proven wrong. Because there stood your undeniably charming blonde, with a bouquet of flowers in his right hand and a card with hearts on it in the other.
I think flowers are stupid and that you’re ridiculous. But you’re pretty so I'll let it slide.
                                                                               - Love, kei.

Takemichi Lets It Slip That the Two of You Are Married in the Future PT. 3
Characters Included: Souya Kawata, Nahoya Kawata, and Naoto Tachibana
Summary: After Takemichi discovers that the two of you are happily married in the future, he ends up accidentally revealing the fact to your past selves.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
⊱ ─────── 《∘◦♡◦∘》 ──────── ⊰
Souya “Angry” Kawata
✿ Takemichi was looking for Hina after visiting with a few people, and when he finally caught sight of her, he saw she was talking with you. Before he could fully approach you, you were already off.
✿ “Heya, Takemitchy!” You sent him a friendly smile and waved as you passed him, before calling back to Hina, “I’ll be back in a second!”
✿ As you waved to him, he couldn't help but notice the small shimmer of the ring on your finger that reflected with the light coming from the window. He watched for a second as you bounded away, walking with a little spring in your step, before turning back to Hina.
✿ “[Name]’s still pretty lively, huh?” He laughed, and Hina nodded with a small giggle.
✿ “We were just talking about the wedding. I was asking them who they’d gone to for the flowers at their wedding.” Hina explained, “They were so pretty, I was curious.”
✿ So it was a wedding ring!
✿ “[Name]’s married?!” Takemichi would ask excitedly, “That’s awesome! To who?”
✿ Takemichi was ecstatic at the news. Even though he hadn’t known you especially well or long in the past, from what little he did interact with you he knew you to be a kind and compassionate person. He was happy for you, and maybe while it may not be his place, a part of him was secretly optimistic that Hina would say a certain name.
✿ Hina just smiled, pointing to something behind him. When he turned, he could see you talking to both Kawata twins, and Takemichi couldn’t stop from thinking that this was either about to be the plot twist of the century for him or that what he was hoping for was a reality.
✿ Then you linked your arm around Souya’s grinning up at his older brother and saying something that Takemichi couldn’t quite make out. The expression on Souya’s face was… surprisingly soft as he looked down at you.
✿ “So they did end up together…” Takemichi smiled fondly as he watched the two of you.
✿ He thought back to the conflict with Tenjiku, how you sprinted up to him despite how injured you were, cheerfully chirping “Woah! What was that…?! You’re amazing, Angry-kun!”
✿ And the days following the battle, you stayed beside the boy as he recovered from the injuries he sustained during his fight with the Haitani brothers, something that Nahoya surely teased you over.
✿ Takemichi remembered how pink dusted Angry’s cheeks despite his permanent scowl, reassuring you that he was fine and trying to encourage you to take care of your own injuries.
✿ It was nice to see you two ended up together twelve years later.
✿ “Their wedding was about five months ago. [Name] has also been a huge help to Yumi and me, so make sure to thank them.” Hina stated, causing Takemichi to nod, snapping out of his thoughts.
✿ “I’m stealing my husband for a second.” You spoke up to the older Kawata, eyes twinkling mischievously as you began to lightly tug Souya towards the soon-to-be-married couple, greeting the two of them politely.
✿ The four of you were chatting for a while, talking about Pah’s wedding and Takemichi asking of course asking how the married life is treating the two of you, flustering Souya a bit.
✿ “It’s been great… I couldn’t be happier.” Souya answered gently, and Takemichi smiled at his answer.
✿ “Oh, and [Name], thanks for all your help… with everything.” Takemichi still wasn’t exactly sure what you’d been helping Hina with, but he wanted to thank you like she’d told him to.
✿ “Hina was a huge help to us, too. It’s no big deal.” You smiled, leaning your head slightly against your husband’s shoulder, “Soon enough we’ll get to ask you the same question, right?”
✿ It was his turn to be flustered, but he laughed despite it. He was just happy to be able to have this conversation, to be able to smile and laugh in the future like this. It felt peaceful.
✿ He later found out when Nahoya was lightheartedly teasing his brother that you would sometimes volunteer and helped out as a waitress at their restaurant when you had a day off. When they first started it up, you were in there every day, but Souya was so insistent that you didn’t have to strain yourself like that. Nahoya missed his free helper, but you still stopped by for lunch almost every day.
✿ Nahoya said it was like the two of you couldn’t get enough of each other, even though you’ve been together for eleven years now.
✿ Despite the older Kawata brother’s teasing tone, Takemichi thought that the smile he wore looked a bit lighter than his usual grin… it was a genuine smile.
✿ He could picture it. You sitting at the bar on your break, enjoying ramen that your husband made as the two of you talk about how your days were going so far, the interaction energizing the both of you enough to finish the second half until you were able to return home to one another. Yeah… you two were a good match.
—–
✿ After losing Draken and waking up in the hospital, he didn’t want to get anyone else involved in his mission to save Mikey. His mission robbed Draken of the future he’d witnessed, and his resolve would strengthen when his eyes landed on you and Souya.
✿ The two of you were happily married in the future. The two of you would have been dating for about a year now, completely unaware of just how bright your futures were, willing to help him, but… He didn’t want to rob the two of you of that too.
✿ Hina set brought him back up and set him straight later, but those had been his thoughts at the moment.
✿ After the date was set for the battle between the Tokyo Manji Gang and the Kanto Manji Gang, all you could do was wait for the day to come. Tensions and nerves were high, but everyone was ready to fight as hard as they could to win.
✿You and Souya were no different. You both wanted to take Mikey back, neither of you wanting him to continue down this dark path he was on. Though, it was strange to wear your Toman uniforms again.
✿ Takemichi happened upon the two of you while you were discussing the upcoming fight, though you hadn’t noticed his presence. You were admittedly nervous about it, after hearing what went down during the Battle of Three Deities.
✿ Souya nodded, he understood your worries, and he gently stated that you didn’t have to fight in this battle, but you were determined to do your part in this.
✿ Souya just wanted you to be safe, but he would never discourage you from doing what you felt was right. But he hated seeing you so nervous about these things. He wanted to comfort you as best he could.
✿ He would place a chaste kiss on your cheek, promising you that he would protect you. Everything would work out for the best. Everyone was going to give it their absolute most.
✿ It was a few moments later that you noticed Takemichi, calling out to him after that intimate moment between you and your boyfriend.
✿ Takemichi would greet the two of you somewhat nervously, hoping he hadn’t gotten caught watching the two of you… but it was sweet seeing both of you in the past like this after meeting your married future selves. Smiley was right… nothing had changed in how you looked at each other.
✿ If you had noticed his spying, you didn’t mention it at least. Instead, you declared your resolve to him, saying when the fight came down, he could count on the two of you, leader!
✿ Perhaps he would have felt taken aback if not spurred on by the determination in both your and Souya’s eyes as you spoke. He thanked both of you for returning to Toman for this fight. He wouldn’t let anyone else die, and he wouldn’t let Mikey lose to his darkness.
✿ “And once we beat down Mikey here, he’ll be able to attend your wedding in the future!” Takemichi spoke confidently, maybe a bit too confidently as he completely spilled the beans to the two of you.
✿ “eH?!” You exclaimed, eyes widening and cheeks warming at his sudden words.
✿ “Huh…?” Souya’s eyes would also widen, pink dusting his cheeks at the idea.
✿ “You two… will definitely get married, I’m sure of it!” He couldn’t backpedal, so he just hit the gas even more on his statement. Neither of you was aware of his time-leaping ability, thus you weren’t aware of just how true his words were.
✿ After a moment, Souya would nod, as if confirming his words. You felt like you were gonna float away like a hot-air balloon. But… your heart pounded in your chest. It sounded like a good future… one you could long for and one day achieve.
✿ “Right. Once we win… and in the future.” Souya nodded again, more firmly towards Takemichi, though his face was slowly turning redder.
✿ He knew what he wanted in the future. As embarrassing as it was to hear it from someone else out loud, he’d accepted what he wanted two years ago. He wanted to work a legitimate job with his older brother and marry the love of his life. And he wanted Mikey to see it too.
⊱ ─────── 《∘◦♡◦∘》 ──────── ⊰
Nahoya “Smiley” Kawata
✿ Takemichi was enjoying the celebration, and when everyone sat down to eat, he looked around slightly, just taking in the scene. Having everyone gathered like this for Pah’s wedding… he felt really calm, though he wished Mikey could’ve attended.
✿ Something then caught his eyes, and he found his attention on where you and Nahoya sat. It wasn’t a rare sight that the two of you were together, but he found himself curious if your relationship was still the same after 12 years.
✿ Just as he was about to focus his attention elsewhere, he saw Nahoya tap your shoulder to get your attention. When you turned, the older man pushed some food against your lips, trying to get you to try it. You narrowed your eyes, opening your mouth to take it, and shooting daggers at him while he laughed.
✿ Takemichi let out a small laugh. Nope, looks like nothing has changed at all between the two of you. That was good.
✿ But before you could grab your napkin to wipe your lips, Takemichi witnessed Nahoya lean forward pressing his lips against yours before pulling away.
✿ Oh.
✿ Takemichi supposed he shouldn’t be that surprised by this outcome… even if the two of you always seemed at odds in the past, he knew the two of you still cared for each other a great deal.
✿ He saw the two of you next to each other fairly often in the past; whether it was at Toman meetings or in a more casual setting, he saw you and Nahoya together more often than not. You were even walking around with him and Mucho on New Year's Eve.
✿ He noticed how the older boy seemed to enjoy teasing you, and how you always seemed to respond negatively to that attention. Takemichi never understood why you stuck so close to him if he picked on you and annoyed you so much.
✿ But then he’d seen how distraught you’d been when Nahoya was hospitalized before the big fight with Tenjiku. There hadn’t been a single trace of your usual annoyance towards the older Kawata twin, only pure concern and worry for his well-being.
✿ That was when Takemichi realized how much you actually seemed to care for Smiley.
✿ And now the two of you were together twelve years in the future. It was fitting.
✿ A few days later everyone was gathered to dig up the time capsule they buried all those years ago. It seemed enough time passed that everyone had forgotten just what it was they’d placed in the box.
✿ Nahoya would blush slightly when he read his letter to himself and you found yourself giggling a bit at his past self.
✿ “You’re popular with [Name], at least.” Chifuyu spoke up with a chuckle, “Sometimes, at least.”
✿ “A host, hm?” You quipped teasingly. It was rare that you were on this end of the picking.
✿ You shook your head with a smile as you unfolded your own letter, grip tightening on the paper as you read further. You could feel your cheeks warming up. Oh no…
✿ “Oh, what is it?” Your husband asked looking over as if he could sense your embarrassment, and you held the letter to your chest, quickly replying ‘nothing!’
✿ “Lemme see,” He leaned over you, letting out a menacing chuckle as he gently took the paper from your hands, eyes scanning over the words.
✿ He read over the letter, the first half dedicated to what you wanted from the future in ways of a career, but it got juicier the closer to the bottom he got, and his grin only grew larger when he saw his name pop up.
✿ You addressed yourself in the letter saying that you wonder if you’re still letting Nahoya “bully” you like usual, saying that you better be standing up to him more! You can’t let him hover over you just because you like him. You also hope that he’s staying out of trouble.
✿ “I hope we’re able to have a more gentle, loving relationship in the future.” He read the final line before looking over at you with a playful grin, “Oh, you liiiiike me.”
✿ “We’re literally married.”
✿ “Yeah, but you like me.”
✿ Takemichi chuckled at the scene. In a lot of ways, it was like the two of you hadn’t changed, but he could tell by the small twinkle in your eyes and the softness in your expression that you both really were happy being together.
—–
✿ Takemichi dismissed the first meeting of the 2nd Gen Tokyo Manji Gang, watching as most dispersed but some stayed around to talk further, whether it was to discuss the conflict with the Kanto Manji gang more or just chat for a bit before going home.
✿ You were talking with Senju for a few minutes, but once you said your goodbyes, Takemichi spotted you next to the Kawata twins. His heartbeat was finally starting to slow down from standing in front of everyone like that. He was glad to see everyone gathered again, mirroring his determination right back at him.
✿ He saw Nahoya reach out to place a hand on your head, ruffling your hair significantly. You jumped back like a cat, scowling at the boy who just laughed at you.
✿ Nahoya really was fond of you, he just couldn’t help but express it with teasing. How could he resist when you gave the cutest reactions? He adored you, though it may not always come across that way to you.
✿ It wasn’t like your interactions were solely him picking at you, it was just that’s all Takemichi happened to see most of the time. And a small part of you didn’t really mind it… most of the time. Something drew you to the older Kawata twin, and he could be surprisingly gentle at times. That gentleness was more often than not reserved for his brother, but he sometimes offered you the same softness… after teasing you mercilessly.
✿ Takemichi walked up to the three of you, greeting you and thanking you for being there tonight. The four of you would chat back and forth for a while, and the twins would catch Takemichi up on what they’d been up to since the 1st Gen of Toman disbanded. None of you could have expected that this would be happening two years ago…
✿ As you spoke, standing next to Nahoya, Takemichi wondered if the two of you were dating yet. He knew from your time capsule at least that you had feelings for him right now, but neither of you mentioned being in a relationship… His eyes would dart back between the two of you as he stared.
✿ “Whatchya starin’ at?” Nahoya would ask, causing the boy to laugh nervously. He’d been caught.
✿ “Ah, well, I was just wondering…” He trailed off, trying to figure out how to word his question. He decided to just go for it, “[Name], Smiley-kun, are you two… uh, y’know…”
✿ “Huh?!” You were the first to realize what he was insinuating, cheeks beginning to burn a bit, “Like hell!”
✿ So you weren’t… oops…
✿ “What’s with that reaction? You could do way worse, missy.” Nahoya grinned, but he did seem genuinely offended by your statement.
✿ You huffed, turning your head away from the boy. You thought to shoot back that you couldn’t do worse or that you could do way better, but… you didn’t want to say that to him.
✿ “Ohhh, you’re embarrassed! I get it!” The orange-haired twin teased, despite the fact that the question likely made him feel just as warm.
✿ Takemichi laughed; he couldn’t help it. Knowing that you two were going to be married ten years from now... yet here you acting as if dating was the worst thing in the world.
✿ He wished you would open up your feelings more, but he guessed it was difficult when Smiley teased you as much as he did. Nahoya could stand to be nicer to his future spouse. But… there was probably more there than what could be seen from the outside.
✿ “What’s so funny?” Souya would ask curiously.
✿ “It’s just those two are gonna get married in the future—!” Takemichi tried to catch himself but was too late as you, Souya, and Nahoya were all looking at him, and he could’ve sworn he saw Nahoya’s smile wavered for a moment, trading it out for a brief look of shock.
✿ “If you keep jokin’ about that I’ll have to kill ya, Leader!” Nahoya’s grin returned to his face despite his threat.
✿ Nahoya's heart was going buh-dum buh-dum like crazy in his chest, but you wouldn’t know it from the look on his face. If you looked real close though, you would see the slight reddening of his cheeks.
✿“Right, sorry, don’t mind me!” Luckily it was just taken as some teasing on Takemichi’s part, but from the way you two reacted, he was sure even now that it wasn’t just you. You both liked each other, it was just to see who would gather the courage to confess first.
⊱ ─────── 《∘◦♡◦∘》 ──────── ⊰
Naoto Tachibana
✿ The wedding celebration was beginning to draw to a close, and Takemichi happened to catch you and Naoto chatting towards the entrance. He’d greeted you both separately after he was zapped to his present, but had yet to get the chance to talk to the two of you together.
✿ As he’s approaching, he witnesses Naoto lean in closer as you whisper something in his ear. The younger man looked at you before smiling, murmuring something back to you before brushing a stray hair out of your face.
✿ Woah, that was a more affectionate display than what he was used to from the two of you. Then again, he wasn’t really used to seeing either of your future selves in a casual setting like this.
✿ “Naoto, [Name]-chan,” Takemichi greeted and the two of you turned to him with a smile.
✿ As he chatted with the two of you, he couldn’t help but notice how you stood next to Naoto, closer than you had in previous futures, and thinks back to those interactions, and then what he’d caught earlier. He chuckles, “You two sure have gotten close, huh?”
✿ “I would be close to my wife.” Naoto’s response was flat, but he gave a short, airly laugh, “There were more than a few changes for the better this time around, huh?”
✿ “eh…?” It was the calm before the storm.
✿ “WIFE?! Naoto, you got married…?! ” Takemichi would exclaim before something else dawned on him, “Before me and Hina?!!”
✿ “This isn’t exactly news now, is it, Takemichi?” You questioned, laughing lightly as you stood next to your husband, “We’ve been married for over two years now. We live together, too, remember?”
✿ TWO YEARS?!
✿ “Naoto, what the hell, man?” He’s holding onto the younger man’s shoulders, dramatic tears in his eyes, “How could you betray me like this…?” He’s mostly joking, though the tiniest part of him would feel a little betrayed at the idea of Hina’s younger brother actually getting married before them.
✿ But whatever small part of him felt betrayed was completely and utterly beaten out by how happy he was to see Naoto alive and happy.
✿ Takemichi wasn’t especially close to you in the past. You were one of Hina’s friends, so he saw you often enough; you’d talked a handful of times even, but it was really only when he barged in on you spending time with your friend.
✿ You were next to Naoto in every future timeline, though you’d always been kept in the dark about time-leaping. It always seemed like you just trusted that whatever Naoto was doing was for the best, never really questioning Takemichi’s involvement in the case.
✿ You’d been just as determined to bring Hina’s killers to justice as Naoto and Takemichi were to save her. You ended up becoming somewhat like Naoto’s assistant, and it seems like in a timeline where Hina’s safety was ensured, your relationship was able to evolve even further.
✿ You shake your head, amused by his antics. Your sister-in-law’s fiance sure could be weird sometimes. It was like he didn’t know he was getting married in three months too. Sure, you and Naoto hadn’t been dating for as long as Hina and Takemichi, but they’d been weirdly insistent on the wedding being sometime this year.
✿ “Congratulations, you two. I’m really happy for you!” Takemichi would then say after letting go of Naoto, his eyes slightly welled with joyous tears.
✿ And now he was congratulating you for being married two years after your wedding… maybe he was drunk..? Still, though, Takemichi was a kind guy.
✿ You smiled, “Thanks, Takemichi.”
✿ Since Naoto was the trigger, he could remember the previous timelines, but unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for you.
✿ Naoto was a little shocked initially at the timeline change, as he often was. The memories had suddenly hit him of being married to you in this timeline and clashed against the professional relationship he held with you in the previous ones. His feelings remained the same in every one of them; he knew he cared for you even then, but there’d been so much at stake… He never did give himself the chance to indulge in those feelings. Even though he’d had a crush on you for a long time.
✿ “Takemichi, there you are,” It was Hina, smiling as she strolled over to him, then turning to greet her brother and you, “Naoto, [Name], were you about to leave?”
✿ “Not quite yet, [Name] wanted to wait to get a chance to speak with the bride and groom one more time before we headed out,” Naoto answered, and you nodded in confirmation. Hina smiles saying she was thinking the same, they can wait til they get a chance together.
✿ Takemichi would need a minute to just soak in the sight in front of him. He still felt like sometimes he would wake up and everything would fall away from him, but he really was standing here with everyone… with the three of you. You and Naoto were married, and he and Hina were together, both of them were alive and safe.
—–
✿ Naoto wasn’t the trigger anymore…
✿ Takemichi decided on walking Hina home after school, though when he approached her, you and his girlfriend were chatting away while Naoto walked slightly behind the two of you. Naoto occasionally added to the conversation when prompted, but mostly just listened as you and his sister talked.
✿ When Takemichi joined, you started kinda hanging to the back a little too, talking with Naoto while he got to chat with Hina.
✿ He rarely saw the two of you interact in the past, so he was actually really curious about what you two were talking about, and began listening in on your conversation.
✿ Somehow your conversation had devolved into talk of a supposedly haunted tunnel where the whispers of the deceased could be heard by those who entered it.
✿ What the hell?! Why were the two of you talking about something so morbid…?!
✿ Naoto had read multiple articles on the tunnel, and you’d stumbled upon the stories when you were looking up haunted places in Japan. It seemed you two shared a common interest.
✿ He looked at Hina, who seemed equally sketched out by the conversation, but she just smiled and shook her head. The two of you have been getting along really well lately. It made her happy!
✿ He and Hina would be having their own conversation, but when Hina grabbed his hand, Naoto would make a comment about the two of them flirting in front of him again. It was only made worse when you nodded.
✿ “You two have been flirting a little too, haven’t you?” Takemichi would decide to tease the boy a bit. He always said the smallest interactions between him and Hina were flirting, and he wanted to get back at him. He then remembered the future he’d been in and huffed, “Enough to get married before us, in fact, you traitor.”
✿ Hina gasped at his words, knowing the meaning behind them fully. Even Naoto blushed a bit, thinking back to Takemichi talking about the future two years ago… if he was saying this now…
✿ Meanwhile, you’re completely in the dark about what he just said, so you tilt your head as you look ahead at him.
✿ “What are you talking about? ‘Married before us’?” You questioned, giving Takemichi a confused look.
✿ “Ah, well, just forget that [Name]-chan, I was just teasing Naoto… haha!” Takemichi would laugh nervously, and Hina would turn to him, the look in her eyes saying 'tell me more later!'.
✿ You pursed your lips before looking over at Naoto, who was stuck thinking about what Takemichi just said… was he really married to you in the future? His sister’s friend…? He’s never minded your company, and lately, he’s even found himself looking forward to whenever you’d walk home with Hina or stay over a few hours after school… but still..
✿ Takemichi said a lot of weird things… you’d never understand that guy. You really couldn’t imagine yourself married to your friend’s younger brother. You liked Naoto, sure, but he didn’t really seem like the type who was interested in dating. You did enjoy talking with him lately though… you had a bit in common, and there were times when Hina would leave the two of you alone for a few minutes and you’d chat together…
✿ Neither of you got it, really. Though you both felt a bit of warmth creeping at you at the implications.
✿ Maybe it was just one of those things that would make more sense in the future?

So @demonicpansexual wanted me to do like a challenge like make a fic off a picture
So yeah
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Takemichi had a secret.
Well it wasn't a secret but it was for the host club.
Takemichi, the hosts clubs only beta amongst alphas had an Omega Brother who went to the public high school by their apartment.
Takemichi had been doing everything in his power to keep the club from visiting his apartment, not wanting them to bother (name).
But luck wasn't on his side.
Knock knock knock.
Takemichi grumbled as he stumbled to open the door, it was far too early for this.
Oh it was far too early to deal with what he was looking at.
There stood the host club in all its glory, Shinichiro smiling as he held a box of Taiyaki as Mikey tried sneakily grabbing it to no success.
Takemichi liked Shinichiro, he was the hosts clubs big brother.
What he didn't like was all of them busting into his apartment like they owned it.
"It's smaller than I expected" Ran commented bluntly as he and Rindō looked at all the niknaks and such around the house "got a lot of puzzles"
"What do you guys want...? It's our day off" takemichi grumbled as Mikey smiled "exactly! So we came to hang out! Aren't you happy mitchy?" The blond said happily but takemichi had seen him fight his elder and Shinchiros younger brother and knew there was more behind that smile.
"I'm actually bu--"" takemichi, why are you so loud?" A voice broke out and closest to Koko a sliding door opened to reveal a half awake teen in a large T-shirt and sweat pants, rubbing his eyes tiredly "oh, you have guests?" (Name) mumbled calmly as he looked at the strangers who stared at him wide eyed.
Before the host club stood one of the most attractive omegas they had ever seen, rubbing his eyes tiredly before sleepily bowing and greeting them then walking to the kitchen.
"Oh, excuse me" (name) said softly to Draken who just stepped aside, stunned by the Omega who was too sleepy to really process the people around him.
(Name) grabbed a refillable water bottle and filled it up before stumbling back to the bedroom to most likely continue sleeping.
"Who...was that?" Koko asked almost dumbfounded and Takemichi sighed "that's my brother (name)" he said begrudgingly introduced and the host club members glanced at each other in a form of challenge.
Takemichi had a feeling it would be a long day.
It wasn't until an hour later when (name) fully woke and got dressed, stretching bad cracking his back fully ready to see the world.
"Michi! I'm gonna head to the m...arket" (name) looked at the group of men before him confused "I feel like I'm missing something" "these guys are the host club, you met them earlier but knowing your memory when you're tired you probably forgot" takemichi teased, causing his brother to stick his tongue out to the other.
'cute' was what the host club thought "we brought Taiyaki and a few other treats, would you like to join us?" Shinichiro asked kindly, smiling with his host club smile but that didn't have much effect on (name) so the haitanis dragged him down to sit with them.
"Takemichi didn't mention a brother ~" Ran said flirtatiously as he gently shoved a macaron into (name)s mouth, the Omega nibbling on it "well did you ever ask about his family?" (Name) asked bluntly, the Omega had dealt with alphas on a regular.
These games didn't work on him.
"Well uh.." Draken started but (name) just sighed at this, of course they didn't "what about my brother do you guys know?"
"He likes chips!"
"And puzzles!"
"And he has a cute brother!"
These were all very surface level facts, Things anyone would learn about him by talking to him after maybe twenty minutes if you ask questions.
Shinichiro saw the disheartened and disappointed look on (name)s face and spoke up "he's also very strong willed and determined, he doesn't give up till he succeeds"
(Name) seemed pleased at this and everyone glared at Shinichiro for gaining favor with (name).
"So (name), did you apply to ouran?" Koko asked curiously and (name) shook his head "nah, wasn't really interested and besides Michi had a way better chance than me if that sounds believable"
The host club was a little disheartened at (name)s blasé attitude about himself but the Omega just glanced at the wall clock "I need to head to the market to get dinner, I will be right back!"
And like that (name) left.
They barely saw him rush and leave.
"He's surprisingly fast" takemichi jokes slightly "sorry about him talking down about himself, Omega classes apparently do numbers to one's self esteem" he continued but the host club looked confused "Omega classes?" Mikey asked curiously and takemichi was bewildered.
"Omega classes, you know the classes omegas take to become "proper" omegas, the thing our Omega classmates go to last period" takemichi explained and realization dawned on them "the only difference is the omegas at our school have been trained to be perfect unlike my brother who like most kids, lived like beta's till they hit 12-14 then kind of pushed into a role they are completely unfamiliar with"
The host club processed this and that's when they realized, where's Koko?
"You know you didn't have to come with me" (name) said as he put items in the basket "eh, it's alright and it's not safe to let a cutie like you be alone" Koko said as the two wandered the store "so what are you planning on making?"
"Oh! I'm making (food), I just needed to get a few ingredients" (name) said softly "those are a lot of ingredients" Koko comments and (name) laughs slightly "well we have guests so I'm making enough for everyone" (name) explained "now what should we make for dessert, I'm thinking (dessert)"
Koko smiled at the omega who took charge, following him like a lost puppy as the rest of the host club watched.
"My brother is so responsible" takemichi said teary eyed and the host club agreed.
He was really responsible, he would make an excellent mate.
The host club couldn't keep hidden well and eventually bothered (name) by adding stuff to his basket, Draken taking it from his hands once it got a bit heavy and Koko paying for it "don't worry about it" and takemichi was surprised seeing as Koko made Shinichiro pay him back for a soda once.
But he was happy his brother was happy around the host club.
Even if they were trying to court him.

2023 General Fic Rec List
It’s the end of the year which means it’s finally time for the ML Big Bang’s yearly fic rec lists! We’re really excited to bring you our contributors’ favourite fics started this year to supply you with plenty of reading material while you’re waiting for the Big Bang fics’ publication in January.
drowning (in plain sight) by @buggachat
Everybody had expected Monarch's defeat to be a moment of triumph. Nobody had expected Gabriel Agreste, unmasked and mind frayed from continual abuse of the miraculous, crying out to all who would listen and making Paris certain of one thing: His son, Adrien Agreste, is one of his sentimonsters. And now he's missing. Nobody can find him— not even the superheroes, and not even his closest friends. But Marinette, Nino, and Alya aren't ones to give up so easily. They'll find him, no matter what it takes. (But, geez, would it kill Chat Noir to lend a hand?)
I think most of the fandom already read this fic, but if you haven't, you should give it a try! The angst is balanced by how deeply Adrien's friends (including Plagg and Felix) care for him, and the reunion at the end is so touching.
all of your flaws and all of my flaws (are laid out one by one) by @coffeebanana
Ladybug and Marinette have both been acting strangely since Monarch's defeat, and Chat Noir would give anything to know why—to be able to help them. He just…didn't expect his answers to come when Ladybug drags him to his father's statue in the middle of the night along with a bag full of spray paint.
An incredibly cathartic scene set after the Season 5 finale that is a perfect mix of angst and hurt and comfort! All the emotions are so raw.
Dreaming Wide Awake by @uptoolateart
Gabriel died a hero. He sacrificed himself in the final battle against Monarch. Or so Adrien's been told. At least he has his mother there to help him through the grief. So what is this niggling feeling that this isn't how the story was meant to go? And why does he keep having flashes of another world that lies just beneath their own?
A fantastic follow-up to the Season 5 finale in which Adrien is dealing with the loss of his father, and his relationship with Marinette, in a reality that's not quite right. Incredibly emotional and moving.
All That Glitters by @trishacollins
After - After the dust settles, and things feel a little bit more...permanent. Nathalie thinks back on her mistakes. With Felix as close at hand as he is, she thinks one of them might be fixable.
Every fic should be a Sentibug fic, and that's why I rec this. I love that it runs with the finale of S5 and addresses various characters' feelings about senti stuff, which is the real big question hanging over the end of the season. Well, one of them :)
The moment I knew (I’d no choice but to love you) by @bbutterflies
“He’s dating me,” Nino said, taking Adrien’s hand in his own. Adrien could only stare back at him in shock. “How dare you all force him to come out?” Nino continued, glaring at the reporters. “That was disgusting.” He pulled Adrien over to the car, guided him in, and shut the door behind them. In the relative quiet and privacy of the backseat, Adrien finally processed what had just happened. “So… when were you going to tell me we were dating?”
It's fake dating, but with Adrino!! What's not to like?
The Parable of the Caller by nemali
A week after Hawk Moth’s identity has been revealed, Adrien finds himself with nowhere to go, nothing he can do, and worst of all, strange gaps in his memory he can’t explain. In a stroke of luck, he stumbles upon a burner phone filled with voicemails from one of the Saviors of Paris: Chat Noir himself, who disappeared following Hawk Moth’s arrest. But with each new voicemail Adrien listens to, he’s forced to confront the fact that there might be some kind of connection between himself and Chat Noir — and discovering it might leave him more broken than before.
It's subversion of so much. Adrien is the ex-Guardian. Adrien has lost his memories. There's been no reveal. He has no idea what this mysterious series of voicemails from Chat Noir means. A+++ read.
A Masked Game by @mysticraven20
For almost ten years Paris has been peaceful. No villains. No heroes. No hate. But, as always, peace never lasts forever and as a new threat takes over the city of love, there’s a change in the game where this time death is permanent. Adrien has been living full of hope after the worst years of his life. He’s free. He’s settled. But most importantly, he’s in love. After years of trying to find his calling everything came together the day he married his wife, or so he thought. Marinette still craved the companionship of her partner. It had been a decade since she’d seen him; the dull ache in her heart constantly asking what had happened to him. If only she had the opportunity to speak to him one more time. The chance for a reconnection appears when Paris’ heroes are needed again and as feelings begin to resurface so does the hate, love and lies. Ladybug and Chat Noir will need to find a new dynamic to make this work, saving not only their friends but also themselves, leaving Adrien and Marinette to risk everything in a need to survive.
Whodunit, murder mystery MLB fic from a great author exploring a new genre/style. Not just exploring, succeeding. Acing it. Wonderful story. As each chapter dropped, it really felt like the entire fandom was racing to read it first. Everyone was hooked. You should get hooked, too!

You said in the Ralsei post that his flirting with Kris is supposed to make us uncomfortable or at least question his relationship to Asriel. I agree that Toby could possibly "go there", but do you think it's intentional on Ralsei's part? I genuinely don't think he knows he looks like Kris's brother. If someone makes Kris get into a relationship with someone who looks like their brother, I think it'll be the players fault for knowing he looks like Asriel and forcing it anyway rather than Ralsei himself actually knowingly being into incest. (feel free to answer this without posting the ask if it's worded badly)
all things considered i don't think he does. i think what's happening in deltarune is that ralsei, as a darkner, was created to play on our fondness and love for the asriel we knew in undertale. at the same time, if you're in any way familiar with classic rpgs, you'll realize that ralsei's role in the story is a direct callback to the "healer of the cast, bearer of the prophecy and love interest for the protagonist" trope (a role that was always given to female characters, tying into his gnc quoi), so being framed romantically by the story is... kind of a given here. however, those two core aspects of his, well, self, are basically incompatible. at least when it comes to his desire to be liked by kris, because being pushed into romantic situations you perceive as incestuous is, understandably, going to freak a guy out.
as you probably know, i recently had the chance to play earthbound, and paula reminded me of ralsei so much. ralsei deconstructs the rpg girl trope in general, but knowing how big of a mother 2 fan toby is, i feel like she was a pretty clear inspiration in the way he wrote ralsei. and something that happens again and again and again throughout the course of earthbound as soon as paula joins the team, is that people constantly make comments about her and ness being together. now, paula/ness is canon by the end of the game and has been confirmed as such by the creators, but earthbound as a game heavily features the topic of fatedness; and unlike deltarune, chosen ones and prophecies and dreams of future friends are never questioned by its plot, they are the plot. so, since a big part of deltarune's gimmick consists in questioning the trope of rpg fate, i wonder if ralsei's crush on kris might be revealed to be something predetermined too, going forward. after all, he spent a long time waiting for the heroes of prophecy to arrive so he could become their friend and help them on their quest. if that same "fate" determined that he was supposed to be kris' love interest, then knowing ralsei he probably accepted that fact and acted accordingly. which would mean getting into whether those feelings are actually genuine or if they're born out of duty and his submission to What Is Right And What Should Be.
the main reason i don't think he's aware, though, is that that incompatibility between those two aspects of himself that prevent him from fulfilling (part of) his purpose is a storyline that heavily reminds me of spamton's. ralsei is the most "purposepilled" character in the entire game. he is ADAMANT about reinforcing 1) his own lack of agency 2) that of all other darkners 3) the darkners' purpose towards the lighters as not only inescapable, but good, 4) the status quo of the light world/dark worlds dynamic as it stands. fulfilling his purpose is a BIG deal to him, and the story is obviously going to have an arc challenging it and sending the poor boy into an existential crisis. and him realizing during the events of the game that his literal appearence alone makes kris uncomfortable and prevents him from being the good rpg love interest character he was created to be, well... it just feels like a good way to further that arc.

Who is the In-Universe Audience for Tress?
[Spoilers for Tress of the Emerald Sea!!]
This list is dedicated to the person at the DragonCon Tress panel who asked this question of the panelists and did NOT receive a good answer (or really any answer at all), in my opinion. So for you, friend, I went ahead and reread Tress and tried to collect all of the evidence about the identity of the audience that Hoid is telling the story to. Has this already been done on Reddit or other forums? Undoubtedly yes but I just wanted to see what I could discover on my own. Here are my findings!
My theory: Hoid is telling the story to a group of apprentice storytellers on the planet First of Sun. Some Rosharans are also present...or maybe just Sigzil. Allow me to explain each part of my answer!
1. Hoid is telling the story (but to an audience who also knows him as Wit)
This we know because he literally identifies himself as Hoid the cabin boy...but he also makes a couple of Wit-related puns, including:
"And with it went my sense of humor, my sense of decorum, and my sense of self. The last one stung the most, since it appears my sense of self is tied directly to my wit. I mean, it's in the name."
"Everyone can use a little more Wit in their lives."
This suggests the audience knows him both as Hoid and as Wit. More on that later!
2. The setting: First of Sun
Wherever the story is being told, it's a place with oceans made of water that have sea creatures (these things must be specified in a Cosmere setting). Hoid often alludes to the audience's familiarity with ships, including:
"Now, I know that on your planet, steering a ship isn't that big a deal."
"I know that sailors fear storms on your planet. It's common among almost all seafaring cultures I've met."
"As I've mentioned, on your planet, you may be accustomed to the helm position on the ship being relatively unimportant."
"But you come from a world where things live in the water."
That it is specifically the First of Sun is suggested by two quotes in particular:
"I can understand why you would want tales of people like Linji, who tried to sail around the world with no Aviar."
"Yes, like the speaking minds inhabiting the ships you've seen landing on your planet."
Aviars are native to First of Sun, and we learn in Sixth of the Dusk that space ships have visited that world.
3. The audience is a group of people
This actually came as a huge shock to me, as it's only revealed near the end, as far as I know. Hoid suddenly says:
"A sailing ship is a strange thing to control--I'm sure some of you know."
Some of you! Some of you?! So the audience is not a single person, but a group of people.
4. But there are also people from Roshar present...or maybe just Sigzil
Now, this may be controversial. But it seems possible that the audience also includes off-worlders, from Roshar and maybe from Scadrial as well. Certain references certainly suggest a Rosharan frame of mind:
First, there is the fact that they know him as Wit, which is Hoid's Rosharan incarnation
Second, there is this line: "Well, now that is a gemstone that truly glitters, friend." Perhaps there are big glittery gemstones on First of Sun too, but that sure seems like a Rosharan idiom.
Third, there is this line: "I assume you have no idea what a Luhel bond is....Unlike the Nahel bond, which trades in consciousness and anchoring to realty, the Luhel bond trades in physical matter." The Nahel bond is how surgebinding works on Roshar, and Hoid assumes the audience knows what that is.
It's possible that only Sigzil is present, and that Hoid keeps making asides to him, which would be pretty cute, to be honest.
5. Maybe Scadrial is represented too??
As for Scadrial, well...there's just the fact that Hoid calls himself a Worldbringer:
"Worldbringers like myself spend decades combing through folk tales, legends, myths, histories, and drunken bar songs looking for the most unique stories."
"Worldbringer" is a Scadrian term; the Rosharan equivalent would be "Worldsinger." This might not mean anything about who's present--perhaps Hoid is spreading the notion of Worldbringers to other planets like First of Sun. But I wanted to raise it as an interesting possibility.
6. The audience is comprised of apprentice storytellers
It becomes clear at the end that the people Hoid is talking to want to learn to be paid for telling stories:
"With a few tips, he wasn't so boring after all. Secretly, I'll tell you that you aren't either. Anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to lower your value. Don't trust them. They know they can't afford you otherwise."
This suggests that his audience want to learn to not be boring and to be paid to tell stories--so apprentices then, perhaps. Hoid also indicates that this audience knows him, and are not just a random crowd he gathered for the occasion:
"It's called the transitive property of ineptitude, and it's the explanation for anything you've seen me do wrong ever."
Hoid refers to other planets casually, suggesting an audience that wants to learn about other cultures and places, another key aspect of being a Hoid-style storyteller:
"Compared, for example, to the depth of the Lilting Abyss on Threnody, the spore seas are practically ponds."
So! That's my theory: Hoid is using the Tress tale to train a group of would-be apprentice storytellers on First of Sun, and maybe Sigzil or other Rosharans are there too.
What do you think??

No Mer is An Island
I didn't go out intending to revisit @monsoon-of-art's Mer AU this month, but seeing this piece in full really hit on something, and I had to get the words down. Happy MerMay, guys!
---
When they’d first met, the girl had stopped him to say that he looked kind of like someone she knew.
Given that Emmet had come all this way trying to find his brother, it sounded promising on its face, but looking past the initial wording, revealed itself to be a shallow hope. If she’d been talking about Ingo, she would have been more decisive. He wouldn’t look kind of like this person, but exactly. He’d been through the cycle of leads surfacing and then sinking often enough to know that the odds weren’t good, but it was the best he’d heard since arriving in Hisui and he couldn’t afford not to give it some cursory exploration.
As they moved away from the shaky hope of a rebuilding village, her story became more and more outlandish, but… somehow not less believable; unprompted, she’d mentioned the torn remnants of a subway car, and in a land that lacked rail transport, it lent her version of events a great deal of credence. Something much more worrisome was the claim that his twin had been found pinned beneath the wreck, trapped and slowly wasting away, before being discovered.
It was strange. When, inevitably, Emmet’s questions about a missing person failed, his next strategy was always the train car. People could move on and be forgotten, but an effigy of twisted metal should have been noteworthy.
The matter of physical resemblances had been both explained and complicated as Dawn led them to a rocky outcropping by the sea.
“Well, that’s… why I wasn’t totally sure at first.” She said, scouring the horizon. Eventually, her attention settled in one specific direction, and Emmet idly followed it to a dark little island in the distance. “The thing is, the parts of you that look the same totally look the same. It’s just that Ingo’s… not really human?”
...what.
She held her hands up in placation, grimacing at her own words. “I know, I know. Just hear me out. So the Pearl Clan found him under that big wreck and took him home to heal, only he… kind of sucks at being a merperson? The same ways I suck at it. We both keep getting hung up when we swim, and neither of us distrusted humans the way the other mers did, and you couldn’t pay us to eat raw fish or seagulls or anything like that. I've been wondering about it for a long time, but maybe Ingo was human, too?”
There was a ringing in Emmet’s ears. It took him a moment to realize that it was an actual sound coming from somewhere over the water. Something in the back of his head told him he should recognize it, but it seemed unimportant compared to the information Dawn had just dumped over his head.
“That is my brother’s name.” He eventually choked out, to the exclusion of the rest of it.
Dawn’s expression cracked into a smile. “Worth a shot! I’ll go grab him and come back-- just don’t worry, okay? Most people think he’s kind of scary.”
Despite the amount of time it had been since he’d had to field that particular criticism, Emmet felt himself bristle. “He cannot help it. His face is just like that.”
The girl paused in the middle of digging through her bag and tilted her head, “I thought it was just because he always seems kind of down, but that makes sense, too.”
Unsure what to say to that, Emmet remained silent as she took something out, unlashed the satchel from around her waist, and then brought a vibrant shell to her lips.
The notes resonated, briefly, with whatever it was coming from across the waves.
“What is that?”
“It’s a special flute,” Dawn said, adjusting her grip on it now that she was no longer playing, “I’ve had it since I got here, but I can’t remember why.”
“Not the instrument. The sound. What is causing it?”
“The… flute?” She asked, baffled, and slapped her tail against the rocks.
It took a second for Emmet to rewind and process that fact.
She had implied that before, hadn’t she? Back when she’d confirmed Ingo’s name. Strange how one piece of information could be so much more pertinent than the rest and simultaneously so much less important.
Emmet consciously had to rein himself in. If humans could turn into merpeople, this could be it. He might be about to see his twin for the first time in years.
Dawn departed shortly thereafter, handing him the flute as a gesture of goodwill, and took off in the direction she’d originally scouted. Emmet pocketed the strange shell for safekeeping and then moved her satchel to somewhere the waves couldn’t sweep it away.
The sound continued that entire time, carried from somewhere far away. When several minutes passed without interruption, he finally figured out what it was: whale song. He didn’t profess to be an expert in the matter, but now that he was listening properly, he was relatively certain of that.
After some time, it stopped, and he immediately found that he missed it.
In its absence, he returned to the water’s edge, wondering if the dark island in the distance wasn’t where Dawn was headed, where his brother lingered. It seemed too much to think that he might catch a glimpse of either when it was so far away, but the reassurance would be welcome. He had little doubt that Dawn would return, particularly given that he held the key to her humanity, but the low crooning over the water proved that there were predators about, and he wouldn’t want haste to lead her into danger.
When he scanned the ocean, however, he found that the island, too, had vanished.
---
Ingo spent a great deal of his time alone.
It was by choice, but at times, it also felt involuntary.
The Pearl clan was more gracious than he could have asked for, worried that his continued stints on his own might reignite the loneliness that had left him so fragile upon their first meeting; while he was happy for their company, it wasn’t what he was missing. That was the problem, though: he didn’t know what would fill the void in his heart. Their camaraderie was close-- had been rejuvenating when he’d first been ushered into the fold-- but only to a point. He felt that it was the right track, just veering ever so slightly off course; if he could figure out where his destination lay, he could course correct to reach it.
It had been years, though, and while he was no longer soul-sick, the ache of it refused to leave him.
When it became too much to bear, he would leave for the surface, to float on his back and close his eyes. The ocean air had become familiar, but it went deeper than that, the churning sea so close to making a connection somewhere in the recesses of his being. He was put in the mind of the artificial reef he’d awoken in-- pinned, scared and without a trace of memory-- but had no idea how they could be related. More than anyone, he knew how heavy the construct was; it seemed wholly antithetical to the gentle rocking that only occurred above the waterline.
Frustrated with his lack of progress, but not surprised, he let out a heavy sigh and pitched it halfway through, low in his throat. He didn’t know what purpose this ability served, as none of the other merfolk could hear when he dipped into this range, but it was cathartic; he could cry for the fact that the clan had been so kind, so welcoming, and he still didn’t belong. He could lament that there was something wrong with him, that he still felt sickness in between the beating of his heart, and he feared he would never escape it.
He could admit, in tones no one would ever hear, that he didn’t know how much longer he could bear the solitude before it consumed him whole.
Though he knew perfectly well that she was unable to parse his voice like this, it died in his throat as Dawn poked her head up from the waves. Unwilling to have a conversation with her in such an undignified position, he turned over and dipped back below the water so they could speak properly.
“Is rebuilding going well?” He asked, following up from the last topic they’d touched upon, “Has there been any recovering from the salt water?”
The humans weren’t bad, he knew-- and had known for as long as he could recall-- they were just scared. For as disastrous as the region’s flooding had been, the one silver lining was that it had given the clans cause to cooperate with the villagers and, slowly, the merfolk were beginning to make progress. He couldn’t be certain how the humans looked upon the situation, but they accepted aid, at least, and that was something.
“It’s...” There was a conspicuous pause. “Going. That’s not why I came to talk, actually.”
“No?” He asked, unable to find it in himself to be surprised. Dawn was like the sea itself at times, ever shifting, just shy of capricious.
“No. I don’t want to jump the gun or anything, but I think I met someone who knew you before! He’s waiting for us at the bluff.”
He blinked at her, the words sitting at the surface of his thoughts for several seconds before sinking in, “What makes you believe that this individual and I share any sort of connection? I don’t mean to cast doubt, but if even I’m unable to say with any certainty...”
“He was looking for someone called Ingo.” She said, and while there was a twitch of her tail that suggested it wasn’t the whole truth, Ingo was too caught up in that declaration to catch it. “He looks like you, too. A scary amount.”
“He’s also an orca?” It might be nice, he thought, to physically be on the same level as someone for a change-- unmarked as the odd man out in this regard, on top of everything else that made him feel so detached from the clan.
“Well… no, it’s mostly in the face. But your coats are basically the same!”
Interesting. That, more than anything else, lent credence to her theory. As strongly as he felt about his name, his complete lack of any other personal details meant that he couldn’t be entirely sure it was what he’d used prior to waking up beneath the ruins. The fact that this person was seeking someone of the same name was noteworthy, but not conclusive. The resemblance was also compelling, but could be explained by a mimic octopus or the like.
His clothes, however, had been a subject of bewilderment among the clan for some time. Drag caused his coat to hinder his movement and speed, and it was constantly becoming caught on bits of rock or other hazards. His hat was somewhat more practical, helping him see above the water on bright days, but beneath the waves, all it did was threaten to fly away if caught in the mildest of currents. Even if this was a misunderstanding and Dawn’s contact didn’t know of him, perhaps he could ask what the utility was.
“I see.” He narrowly refrained from breathing it out as a sigh; there was little use in speculating if confirmation or denial really was so near, “If he’s waiting, we ought not to leave him at the station. Are you ready to depart for the Clamberclaw Bluffs?”
Dawn took him by the forefinger and smiled at him-- and where he occasionally saw a flash of pity in it, there was nothing but anticipation.
“Let’s go!” She said, tugging him forward, a current all her own.
Ingo allowed it to happen, allowed her to be the force driving his tired cab onward. Maybe, when they reached their destination, there would be someone there to meet it.
---
The first indication that Emmet was no longer alone on the rocky outcropping was Dawn hefting herself up onto the edge with the grace of someone still adjusting to that specific workout. He refrained from commenting on that fact both because he liked to think himself polite and because something else stole his attention away shortly thereafter.
Offset from where she’d appeared, the water warped unnaturally, and it took a second for him to realize that it was because it was something else was surfacing, something massive enough to distort the water as it rose.
“Oh,” Said his brother’s voice, loud as one of his directing calls whilst somehow maintaining a sort of gentle surprise, “You’re human.”
Even though he’d been warned as much, as he blinked upwards, trying to process the reality he’d found himself living, he said, “You’re… not.”
“Was… was I supposed to be?” Ingo turned his head as he said it, a hand curling to rest against his lips-- and it was so achingly familiar that, for just a second, it was possible to overlook the fact that his forearm had to be longer than Emmet’s full height.
“Yes?” He half-asked, trying to keep his expression from dipping into anything too ridiculous in his incredulity, “To my knowledge, identical siblings are usually the same species.”
The animate half of Ingo’s face scrunched, puzzled, and he leaned over on his arms to put them on the same level. He spent several seconds silently assessing Emmet, before returning with, “We do look quite similar, don’t we?”
“Identical.” Emmet repeated, insistent, and he couldn’t keep his voice from crackling on it, “We are-- we’re supposed to be identical twins.”
“And I take it from your response that you were never an orca?” His brother said, a little helplessly.
“No.” At that, however, he stepped forward, emboldened both by the certainty that this was somehow his missing twin-- all but confirming that he had never been in any danger-- and a suddenly-consuming curiosity.
Ingo watched his approach, but did nothing to stop him. The only movement was that of one enormous, clawed hand tucking itself into the tattered remains of the opposite sleeve and, abruptly, Emmet realized he was still wearing his uniform’s hat and coat. The hat and coat that had been commissioned in tandem with the ones Emmet wore right now. Emmet, who was notably human-sized.
How?
The nearer he drew, the more clearly he could make out the black mass in the water beyond, a shadow that stretched and curved into an undeniably fish-shaped tail, floating just high enough for a dorsal fin to cut through the surface.
With a new clarity, he looked up, taking in the black patches that both camouflaged the actual lines under his brother’s eyes and made his weariness look orders worse, and asked, “Was the whale song your doing?”
The too-pale skin of Ingo’s face went faintly pink. “You were able to hear that?”
Emmet felt his face crack into a grin, “You are not quiet.”
“No, no, you misunderstand,” He tried, though the flush only intensified at the comment, “The frequency is inaudible to the other merfolk. I didn’t think anyone else was physically able to hear it.”
“Wait,” Said a mildly-familiar voice and, with a start, Emmet remembered they weren’t alone, “Is that what you’re doing when you float on the surface like a dead fish? You’re just screaming into the sky?”
“That is-- no. Not in the slightest!”
“If he yelled, you would know. Even as a human.” The commentary earned him a downward glance through narrowed eyes.
“Regardless,” Ingo said, transparently trying to get them back on a track that didn’t lead to further teasing, “I’m surprised that you were able to discern it without being a mer yourself.”
Emmet hummed, considering that, and then turned his head. “I’m not. Other people cannot read your face, but I can. It makes sense that I can understand you now, too.”
“Because you’re… my twin brother.” Ingo said haltingly, testing the words for himself as if to see if they were any more convincing in his own voice.
Emmet smiled, though not without an edge of melancholy, letting him reach a conclusion in his own time. That wasn’t disbelief, he knew, but it was plain to see how lost his brother was, and hurrying him wouldn’t help.
He wouldn’t push, but… but maybe it would be okay to make sure this was real, that he hadn’t hit his head upon arriving in Hisui and managed to fool himself into thinking this might finally be it.
Holding one hand up to indicate a lack of aggression-- as if something so small could do anything to hurt someone with the proportions of a killer whale-- he took a tentative, questioning step forward and asked, “Can I touch?”
Ingo blinked at him, focused momentarily on his palm, and then back on his face. In lieu of an answer, he rested his head on his arms in full, putting himself in range to reach more comfortably. His bright, bright eyes tracked the motion until he couldn’t any longer, and he breathed out, slow and impossibly long.
The skin beneath Emmet’s hand was dark, the stripe of it trailing up to a floppy ear and down below the line of a collar, but still warm and still undeniably human. He’d half expected it to feel rubbery under his touch, but the biggest difference was the subtle grit of drying salt. He was reminded intensely of the summer their family visited the Decolore Islands and specifically of when, as a joke, he’d tried to push his brother into the water, only for Ingo to clutch his hand that much more tightly and send the both of them tumbling in. Having to go on in wet clothes had been bad enough until they began to dry, contrasting outfits stiff with the residual salt on their persons. As children, it had been unbearable. He could only hope it didn’t itch the same way, now.
He only realized he’d spaced out at the renewed rumble as his twin began to speak again, “--not sure. Are you still with us, Emmet?”
For a second, he froze in place, and then drew his hand back, breaking out into an unburdened smile. Beaming up at his brother, he said, “Ingoooooo, I never told you my name.”
Ingo’s brow furrowed as he mentally played the conversation back, and then he glanced to Dawn, who held her hands up and shook her head. When that failed to yield any plausible explanation, his gaze flitted back over to Emmet, uncertain, as if he’d done something wrong.
“It’s good!” Emmet said before his twin could start to reverse down the tracks, “I do not know what happened, but you’re still you. That is all that matters to me.”
As quietly as he was physically capable of with such robust lungs, Ingo repeated “My brother,” to himself, already coming to terms with the idea, and Emmet stepped forward again.
He leaned into his twin’s shoulder, heedless of the water that immediately soaked through his coat, and, as best he could, pressed the side of his face to Ingo’s. Against his own side, he felt a pulse speed up, powered by a heart that was finally large enough to match the outpouring of love its owner had always put into the world.
A hand moved to cradle his back, painstaking in the care behind it, and within two beats of that massive heart, the whale song began anew.

Omg can you write one like the shame shorts but it’s reversed? Like the reader had to wear a revealing costume? How would tenoch react?

Tenoch Huerta x Reader
"Topless"
Tumblr media
(Y/n) could not believe she was on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Then again Wakanda Forever was her first big movie. She dabbled in shows and movies but never landed one of the lead roles. Her character played the queen of Talokan. Which also meant she would be working alongside Tenoch Huerta who played her husband Namor. They spoke about many aspects of the movie, including the characters, how they got the gig, and lastly the 'shame shorts.' Which also brought into question her character's outfit. It has been one of the most revealing costumes Marvel has designed. Much like Tenoch Huerta's swim shorts.
"So tell us (Y/n) how do you feel about your outfit? I know it shoes more skin than most probably feels comfortable with. Especially during this point in time."
She chuckled at Jimmy's question. "Honestly I didn't care. But I did ask for a full suit. Minus the muscles of course." You add the audience chuckled since Tenoch asked for muscles.
"I also didn't care much that she wore such a beautiful outfit. I did ask you know...for it to be a little revealing. I mean-" Tenoch looked (Y/n) over. "Can you blame me? Ow!-" He faked being hurt after (Y/n) playfully slapped his arm.
"Are you for real? Is that why they made the front so short?! Tenoch!!" She whined.
"Yes in fact it was. If you have this gorgeous body why hide it?"
Jimmy pulled up a picture of Tenoch and (Y/n) together in character costume. The audience cheered. "I admit you do make a perfect on screen couple!"
"Thanks but it's really (Y/n) who makes the picture."
After a few more questions the interview was over (Y/n) and Tenoch made their way backstage and to their room.
"Did you really ask them to make the outfit skimpy?!"
"Well yes. Another reason why the bra was a bit tighter." Tenoch laughed and dodge a fake weak punch.
"Why?!"
"Because you made them have my shorts shorter than originally planned!" He adds.
"Ok but that's different..."
"How so,(Y/n)?" Tenoch moved closer.
"Well- I mean- it just is!"
They did not break eye contact and after a few minutes Tenoch pulled (Y/n) closer kissing her deeply.
"Want to make a deal?" He whispered into her ear. (Y/n) shivers feeling his hand grip her thigh before running up to her breast kneading them softly.
"Wh-what's that?" She tried to contain her whine.
"I will wear a speedo in the next movie of you go topless for a scene ." He grins.
"You are the worst." (Y/n) pouts pulling him into another kiss.
