hiiii omg im so glad you're writing for tveit again!!! hope this isn't too specific of an ask :)
from high school shows, to hairspray and wicked, all the way through moulin rouge, reader's and aaron's careers have matched eachothers. everyone knew them as a pair- both on stage and off as best friends. along the way, they start to fall for each other, trying to figure out how to break it to friends (who saw it coming, despite both reader and aaron swearing they wouldn't), aaron's family (who hosted reader at holidays and always loved like a daughter), the public (who's been waiting for years), etc.
thank you!! Sorry for the long request <33

High School
You rushed up to the board as soon as you saw that the cast list had been posted, feeling your heart beat faster the closer you got. As soon as you saw your name next to the role you wanted, you let out a breath of relief, too excited to keep in your squeal of excitement.
‘I take it you’re happy?’ a voice came from behind you and you whirled around, being greeted a blonde guy who you vaguely recognised from your Drama classes but couldn’t quite remember his name.
‘Very,’ you replied, grinning at him, ‘what about you?’ you asked, stepping to the side to let him see the board.
He took a moment to read the board in front of him, stepping back and shrugging nonchalantly at you. ‘I’m happy,’ he replied coolly.
‘Who’d you get?’ you asked, curious.
‘Who I wanted,’ he replied, still not giving anything away. You tried to hide your laughter by disguising it as a scoff as you held out your hand to him.
‘I’m (Y/N).’
He took your hand in his gently. ‘Aaron.’
You looked towards the board and your mouth formed an ‘O’ shape when you realised that his name was right next to yours, playing your love interest in the show. Aaron couldn’t stop his chuckle when he saw the look of realisation on your face.
‘Yep, looks like we’re going to be spending a lot of time together the next couple of months, (Y/N),’ he said, a smirk on his lips as he walked back down the corridor.
Hairspray
You were glad that you were in the middle of the final number because you couldn’t stop the laugh from bubbling out of your throat at the sight of Aaron dancing in front of you. Since High School, the two of you became inseparable, both on and off stage; if you were in a show, you could pretty much guarantee that Aaron was going to be in it too. It was actually quite comforting, knowing that you’d have a friendly face whenever you started a new job.
Despite what your friends and both yours and Aaron’s family say, the two of you have been strictly best friends ever since that day in High School in front of the cast list and you wouldn’t have it any other way. As everyone left the stage after the show, Aaron appeared behind you and scooped you up, spinning you around, making you squeal in surprise.
‘We did it!’ Aaron exclaimed as he set you back down on the floor.
‘We’ve been in the show 6 months, are you really going to say that after every show?’ you asked, laughing.
‘Yes! And you know why?’
‘Because we did it?’
‘Because we did it!’
Wicked
Although you and Aaron had been by each others side for every show you’d been in so far, this was the first time you’d both been playing principal roles. You were together when you both got the call to let you know you’d been cast as Elphaba and Fiyero in the Broadway production of Wicked and, like always, you were both ecstatic.
However, with the different dynamic of your characters, you couldn’t help but notice your feelings for Aaron shift into unchartered territory. Every time his lips would press against yours, you had to remind yourself that you were both playing a role, that it was a part of your job.
The change in your feelings caused you to draw away from Aaron slightly, not wanting him to find out and think that it was just going to make things weird between the two of you. For the past couple of weeks, the only time you saw and spoke to Aaron was when you were at work and it was driving Aaron insane.
‘What’s going on?’ Aaron spoke lowly in your ear as you both got ready to go onstage for As Long as You’re Mine, making you jump and turn around to face him.
‘Nothing, why?’ you replied, not quite meeting his gaze.
‘Don’t do that. You’ve been ignoring me for weeks, what have I done?’
Sighing softly, you lifted your eyes to meet his, a feeling of guilt washing over you when you saw the look in his eyes. ‘You haven’t done anything, it’s on me. I’ve been thinking about things recently and I didn’t want to freak you out or anything?’
‘Why would I be freaked out?’ he asked, not willing to let the topic go. Thankfully for you, you heard your cue line for you and Aaron to enter the stage. ‘(Y/N),’ he pressed when you tried to walk ahead, ‘what’s going on?’
‘I’ll tell you, I promise, but we really need to get onstage now,’ you replied before the two of you made your way out to start the song.
It was getting towards the big kiss at the end of the song and you knew that you were just going to have to throw caution to the wind. As soon as you spoke your last line, Aaron’s lips were on yours. Instead, of covering his face with your hands to make it into a stage kiss, you found your fingers twisting into his shirt, pulling yourself against him as you deepened the kiss. When you broke the kiss, Aaron looked at you with wide eyes, clearly realising that that kiss was different from all of the others.
The moment you were offstage, you felt panic begin to set in and you tried to get away from everyone as quickly as you could. ‘(Y/N)!’ Aaron called out, trying to follow you.
‘I need to go do something really quick, I’ll be back - ’
You were cut off by the feeling of a hand wrapping around your wrist as you were roughly yanked back against Aaron’s chest and his lips on yours. At first, you froze, not knowing what to do. It wasn’t until you felt Aaron’s arms wrapping around your waist, holding you firmly against him that you began to kiss him back. A soft whimper escaped your lips when you felt his tongue trace your bottom lip.
You were both slightly out of breath when you broke the kiss but Aaron’s arms didn’t loosen around you at all. ‘Next time, can you just tell me what’s wrong? I would have done this a lot sooner if you had.’
Friends
It was just before your opening night in Catch Me if You Can, you were playing Brenda and Aaron, of course, playing Frank. Ever since that kiss during Wicked, you and Aaron had been an item, keeping it to yourselves for the time being. However, with it being opening night, the both of you knew that you wanted to celebrate together after the show; and you wouldn’t be able to do that if your relationship was a secret.
The entire cast were on the stage in your show circle, ready to tackle opening night when Aaron stepped forward, letting go of your hand, making a confused frown appear on your face before you realised.
‘Before we all go on tonight, there’s something I want to let you all know, before any rumours start.’ As soon as he spoke, you knew exactly where he was heading so you stepped forward to join him and intertwined your fingers with his, watching as everyone’s eyes darted down to your linked hands, gasps and shouts of ‘I knew it’ coming from all around you.
‘What do you mean you all knew it?’ you asked, slightly surprised because you thought the two of you had hidden your relationship quite well.
‘You two are never away from each other and you always look for each other as soon as you walk into a room. I have my best friend but I even need a break from her sometimes,’ Harmony, one of the dancers in the cast, piped up causing your cheeks to heat up. Aaron couldn’t help but laugh as he pulled you into him and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead.
‘Well, at least we won’t have to try to hide anything at work anymore,’ he said, grinning down at you.
‘Now we just need to tell our families.’
Family
‘Why are you nervous? You know they love you.’
After telling your friends, you knew it was time to let your families know that you were dating. Even though you’d been around Aaron’s family a lot since you’d become friends (them even inviting you to join them whenever they celebrated anything and pretty much treated you like their own daughter), meeting them as your boyfriends parents gave you a nervous feeling throughout your entire body.
‘I know, but that was when I was your best friend, now I’m your girlfriend, what if they think I’m not good enough for you?’
‘Do you really think they’d ever think that? (Y/N), I’m pretty sure if they could swap me for you, they would,’ Aaron teased, squeezing your hand tighter as you walked up the driveway to their front door. Before you had the chance to knock on the door, it swung open to reveal Aaron’s mum beaming at the two of you.
‘Come in, you two!’ she ushered you both in before pulling you into a tight hug. ‘It’s been too long since you’ve visited,’ she said, scolding you both slightly. You let out a nervous laugh before turning around to hang your coat up, taking the time to take a deep breath to calm your nerves.
When you and Aaron had settled into one of the sofas in the living room, Aaron took your hand in his and held it in his lap as he told his parents about your new relationship. You’re not sure why you’d been so nervous because both his mum and dad were ecstatic. His mum came over to you instantly to wrap you in a hug as his dad headed over to Aaron.
‘We could all see this coming for years,’ he said, pulling Aaron in for a hug.
Moulin Rouge
You and Aaron had been together for ten years and you couldn’t be happier. You were still appearing in the same shows side to side and you wouldn’t have it any other way. Tonight was your closing night in Moulin Rouge, a show you’d been obsessed with ever since you saw the film.
Standing on the stage after your final bows, you hand firmly clasped in Aaron’s, you couldn’t seem to wipe the grin off of your face. When you finally left the stage, Aaron dragged you into his dressing room, locking the door behind him.
‘What are you doing?’ you asked, wrapping your arms around his neck as he made his way back over to you. He dipped his head down to press his lips against yours, his hands coming out to grip at your waist, clutching you tightly as if you’d disappear if he let go.
‘I just didn’t want anyone interrupting this,’ he replied before stepping back much to your confusion.
‘Interrupting what?’ you asked, a small frown furrowing your brow.
‘This,’ he said, dropping to his knee in front of you, reaching into his pocket to retrieve a small ring box from his jacket.
‘Has that been in your pocket for the whole show?’ you asked, not knowing what else to say. Aaron laughed lightly at your response.
‘Yeah, I didn’t want to just leave it in here. Look, that day we met at school, I knew that you were going to be special. And every time we’ve been cast in something together it’s just proved my point. There’s no one else I’d want to be side by side with, at work and every day. So, (Y/N), will you do me the honour of becoming my wife?’
Your eyes filled with tears as he spoke. The moment he finished speaking, you sunk to your knees in front of him, both of your hands coming to rest on his face as you pulled him into a kiss.
‘Is that a yes?’ he mumbled against your lips.
‘Yes.’

Not sure if anyone's asked you this one before, but what are your favorite parts or scenes from the musical? Or just any scene you'd like to gush about :)
oh you bet I'm gonna break this down cause there's SO MUCH I could talk about
act 1 favorite scene: I literally can't choose between popular and defying gravity so I will talk about both!!
popular. I used to think the whole scene was dramatic and too goofy for its own good. As silly as it is, when you have the right people in the roles, it can be a deeply moving scene as well. Of course there's moments of seriousness built into the scene ("my father hates me") but even the silly bits can carry weight when done right. the "miss elphaba, you're beautiful" ALWAYS hits, especially because of the music-- it's the "I'm Not that Girl" motif and if that doesn't describe peak yearning I don't know what does. I could go on more about different takes on the Popular scene but I think I'll just direct you to @dailypopular it's not active anymore but honestly it's your spot for all things Popular
defying gravity: literally I don't even have to do much explaining on this one. it's such a phenomenal showstopper of a song. I would literally give an arm and a leg to be able to see it live. besides the amazing song, the staging is incredible as well. particularly the part where the ensemble is all shielding themselves in fear whilst Glinda is reaching out to Elphaba. I also have a firm belief about the line "kiss me goodbye, I'm defying gravity" being directed towards Glinda but that's a post for a different day
Act 1 underrated scene: One Short Day
One Short Day does NOT get enough love cause it's always overshadowed by the hype of Defying Gravity but it really is one of my favorite scenes. this is really the only time in the musical, besides the Ozdust, that we get to see Elphaba and Glinda genuinely happy at the same time and that just makes me feel things. I wish they could be happy more. Also I love Glinda's dress in this scene the yellow just pops I love it
Act 2 opinions under the cut cause this is getting long haha
Act 2 favorite scene: For Good/Finale
I cannot possibly talk enough about how many Feelings the end of the show gives me. Even casting the shipping lens of everything aside, the sheer force of For Good as an expression of forgiveness and undying friendship and unwavering trust is enough to make me emotional. And then as if I wasn't already emotional enough, Elphaba's faked death and having to keep it a secret from Glinda AND THEN a reprise of For Good, calling out to each other, knowing they'll never see each other again???? oof. That's emotional enough, but then put it through the gelphie lens and I'm an utter crying mess.
Act 2 underrated scene: Thank Goodness/Engagement Ball
Right after the intermission. You're still reeling from Defying Gravity, so Thank Goodness doesn't quite match up in terms of thrilling staging and high energy. but even though the song lacks flash (until the operatic high note at the end, at least), it does an excellent job in terms of storytelling. We get so much more insight into Glinda's character, her wants, her true motivations. Same goes for later in the act when Elphaba shows up again. She's so relieved to see Elphaba alive (katie rose clarke plays this scene wonderfully) but even despite her own emotions she can't bring herself to leave. But then she winds up losing Elphaba again AND Fiyero as well. It sets up the tragedy of her character in such a heartbreakingly marvelous way. Long story short, Glinda's character arc makes me feel things. lots of things.

Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason. <3
First fic: Gone, a Princess Tutu fic that was actually originally published on FFN that I also apparently diligently backdated the published date on, since 01/07/2011 pre-dates my joining AO3 by almost exactly a year. It's a post-series introspective piece from Duck's POV that I do not recommend.
Last fic: Here There Be Sea Beasts, the first chapter/prologue to an OFMD The Sea Beast AU. At this point I'll definitely have to wait until after s2 to work on it any more I think, in case that changes how I want to shuffle the characters around
Only once: Like a Swan on a Lake which is for the Wicked musical (though it also draws slightly from the book Wicked and from the Wizard of Oz book). It's sort of a fix-it, where Glinda goes with Elphaba at the end of Act 1, except I got wrapped up entirely in Fiyero's POV on it, so he's primarily the one fixing it.
Favorite fic from the fandom I've written in most: So the fandom I've written the most in by word count and the one I've written the most in by number of works is actually different, but I'm going to go with number of works and save the other fic for a different question. The fandom I've written the most works for is Smallville, and my favorite fic is... let's go with Love, As Told By... the asexual Clark fic, written and published about 4 years before I realized I was ace, lol. Also I got a really sweet review on it on FFN from a reader who was also ace that read it as a bedtime story to their baby sibling to both introduce them to fanfiction and as a springboard to explain to their sib about their asexuality and what that means and everytime I read that review I just go 🥹
Fic I wish more people read: My immediate reaction was all of them, but actually, no, don't read some of the old ones, lol. I mean you can, they're still up for a reason, but... Okay, let's go with Each Happy Ending as a slightly more recent one that didn't get as much attention as I would have liked. It's a Good Omens Enchanted AU focusing on Azcrow, but putting them in the role of Nancy & Edward from the movie. I really liked how it turned out!
Fic I agonized over & Fic that sprang fully formed: I'm sorry, but I'm skipping both of these. How the writing process felt overall as I was working on various different fics is not something that I'm going to be able to remember. I barely know how I'm feeling right now, much less how I felt writing something from a decade ago. That's past!Nicnac's domain, and frankly none of my business.
Work(s) I'm proud of: Here's where we're going to circle back to that most word count, The Whole of Us my 145k Gravity Falls novel about what if Stanford was Dipper and Mabel's biological dad and also there was a ton of emotional healing from trauma. There are so many individual scenes that I love, plus the way it all came together is great. And I'm still so impressed with myself for finishing something so long!
A tag to summon: @poetic----nonsense and @josephina-x and anyone else who wants to

welcome to london, GALINDA UPLAND! did anyone ever tell you that you look just like ARIANA GRANDE? well, no matter, we hear that you are TWENTY-FOUR and working as a KINDERGARTEN TEACHER. we also hear that you currently HAVE your memories from WICKED  and have a tendency to be DELIGHTFUL as well as NERVOUS.
will correct people if they call her 'glinda' instead of 'galinda'. the 'gah' is very important to her
has twin daughters named ellie and farrah, both named after her best friend elphaba and ex-fiance fiyero (their father). they're four years old and are mini galindas. very polite, but also very curious
when fiyero left her, she found out she was pregnant a few weeks later. she had no way of contacting him, nor did she know how to do so, so she was unable to tell him that he was going to be a father. she was upset with him for a long time for leaving her, but he'd been extremely faithful and loyal to her, even with his feelings for elphie. she decided she couldn't stay mad forever, and she knows that you don't choose who you fall in love with, so she made her peace and just wants them to be happy together. the curse brought her to london when she was still pregnant with the twins, so they have never been to oz but have been begging to go
is a kindergarten teacher and loves her job endlessly
can appear a bit oblivious
her signature color is pink, but her wardrobe is a variety of pretty, light, pastel colors. the twins usually wear pastel colors or pure white
loves video games
collects fairy figurines, witch figurines, and crystals
always wearing perfume
has a large collection of smell good lotion (and yes, she uses all of it)
loves anything vanilla flavored
has a ridiculous amount of cups. mostly cute water bottles, but it's way too many, but she DOES use all of them, she rotates between uses
loves to color. maybe it's childish, but it gives her something to do and it's always been one of her favorite activities
has lots of fidget toys. she loves clicky, clacky and crunchy sounds, so she has quite a few that she likes to mess with at home
has two refrigerators! one is for food, the other is solely for drinks
her house has to be cold year round. it helps her breathe better, and she likes to be cozy, so if she or the girls get too cold, they just wrap up in sweaters and blankets
always doing some sort of project or craft. if it's something simple but fun, she adds it to the curriculum for her kindergarteners
she calls all children munchkins. she refers to her students as "her" munchkins. she calls her own kids witchlings
has her own language. she speaks ozian, so some words are different. float / floating = floaticate / floatifying. confused / confusing = confusicated / confusifying and so on so forth
always has snacks on her
has an emergency bag that she keeps with her at all times. it stays in her purse. it's got bandaids, antibacterial cream, a tourniquet, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, pads, tampons, pantyliners, pain medication, a few portable chargers, a flashlight. she keeps it very organized, too. each thing is in it's own ziplock bag so it's easy finding and nothing is rattling around loose. she also keeps water bottles with her
has quite a few pretty light up things. a moon that lights up different colors, a light up lava lamp, light up salt lamp, cute stuff like that
is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet
can get pretty nervous if she doesn't know what's going on around her
loves making new friends and meeting new people
makes lists. lots and lots of lists. they're all over her house
can fall asleep anywhere
loves to read
likes learning new things
her favorite mode of transportation is her magic pink bubble
will never say no to ice cream or coffee. in fact, her favorite ice cream is coffee flavored
she's not one of those "don't give me advice if i didn't ask for it" people. she appreciates advice. and she doesn't mind parenting advice either. she may have been mommy for four years, but every year is her first time raising witchlings at that age, so she'll take all the advice she can get. yes, even from non-parents. she doesn't believe that only parents can give good advice or ideas

That Time I Wrote an Essay About Gelphie
I wrote this essay at like 1 A.M. so enjoy lmao
Wicked is perhaps one of the most well-known and best contemporary musicals. It's known for its powerful storytelling, outstanding music, and intriguing, morally grey characters. It opened on Broadway in 2003 and is still running today, as well as productions in other countries. However, the standard audience is unaware of the romance-coding (although if you, like me, are a flaming homosexual obsessed with musicals, it's pretty easy to tell) with the characters Glinda and Elphaba.
First and foremost, romance-coding is when two characters of the same gender are coded to be in a romantic relationship. It's often confused with queer-coding. However, romance-coding is a bit different. Characters can be coded as romantic regardless of sexuality, gender, or sex. Neither Glinda nor Elphaba are coded as queer, necessarily, but instead coded romantically. If you want to learn more about it, I recommend Rowan Ellis' videos.
Glinda and Elphaba initially clash, loathing each other. However, the song itself, What is This Feeling, has some rather queer undertones. It was written as a parody of standard love songs, with lyrics such as “My pulse is rushing, my head is reeling, my face is flushing. What is this feeling?” However, both girls come to the conclusion that it’s loathing. While that seems like a conclusive end, it could actually very easily be read as a misdiagnosis of the situation. If one of them were a man, most people would definitely read it this way.
Glinda does most of what she does for the attention and praise, which could be relevant to the line, "Was I seeking good or just seeking attention? Is that all good deeds are when looked at through an ice cold eye?" in No Good Deed. Glinda can be rather shallow, and while she does have a good heart, she is undoubtedly superficial at first.
One of the most important things about Glinda to note is that her first actual good deed she did, not for the approval of others, was dancing with Elphaba at Fiyero’s party while everybody else stands aside and laughs.
However, after Fiyero's party, the too get over their fit of "loathing" and become best friends. Thus, Popular.
Do I even have to explain Popular? I think the line, "Why, Miss Elphaba. Look at you. You're beautiful," speaks for itself. Glinda is the most earnest she's been in the musical during this scene. She hadn't even done much, just taken Elphaba's hair of her braid and stuck a flower in there. I don't think it's that far of a stretch to think she thought this even before Popular.
My next talking point is Defying Gravity. Defying Gravity is possibly the most iconic contemporary musical theatre song. Even those who have never listened to a single musical likely know of this song.
Glinda and Elphaba fight, neither of them being able to see the others perspective. Glinda thinks Elphaba should apologize, get in good with the wizard, and slowly make changes from the inside, even if it means compromising her morals. Elphaba can’t stand to do this.
Elphaba laments about how she’s changed and this is no longer what she wants, and that she needs to make a change herself.
Then, in the main part of the song, Elphaba tells Glinda to kiss her goodbye. How much more explicit can it get? They even kiss in the novel it’s based on, but don’t worry guys, they aren’t gay! It’s totally platonic.
Elphaba asks Glinda to come with her, but deep down, she knows Glinda won’t. Elphaba won’t be happy if she stays, and Glinda won’t be happy if she leaves. So, the two have to let each other go, because at the core of their relationship, they just want each other to be happy.
They are the definition of if you love someone, let them go.
Glinda and Fiyero are soon engaged. Glinda tries to act positive, as she is now a public figure actively advocating against Elphaba, but you can tell in Thank Goodness that she regrets her decision and misses Elphaba more than she will admit.
Some plot stuff happens that I'm going to assume you know if you're reading this essay, and now Fiyero is presumed to be dead and Elphaba fully embraces the label society has given her.
And then For Good happens. For Good is one of the most genuinely beautiful songs I've listened to and I tear up every time. The two women love each other so much, probably more than they want to admit. Whether you personally see their relationship as more platonic or romantic, you can't deny how genuine and pure their relationship is.
Plus, Kristin Chenoweth took the low harmony and every Gelphie shipper started screaming about the symbolism and how they've both changed so much (me. thats me.) and if you weren't already crying, you are now.
Compare this to As Long As You're Mine. It has a haunting sound and Elphaba feels truly wicked for the first time. For Good is simple and honest and truly feels like love.
This is a good segway into talking about Fiyero. Glinda liked Fiyero for shallow reasons; he was a prince and charming, while Elphaba hardly even knew the dude; they saved a lion cub together once and apparently it's true love? I do think that both Elphaba and Glinda loved him, but I don’t think they were in love with him. He often takes second-hand to their friendship and never really builds a foundation of love and caring with either of them.
Then there's a dumb deus ex machina where Elphaba doesn't die and ends up with Fiyero, which was cheap in my opinion. Elphaba's story is a tragedy and the happy ending felt unearned. That's off-topic, though.
Glinda and Elphaba had such a beautiful relationship and so much potential, but it was misused and now I have to write essay's at 1 A.M. instead of sleeping.

Hetalia Wicked (Book and Musical mix) AU, okay?
Gilbert is Elphaba.
He's born with an almost burning reaction to water, white hair, red eyes, and — most obvious — green skin and sharp teeth.
His mother, scared of having another green child, eats some supplements so her next child will be normal, but dies as a result, with her second child, Ludwig, born paralyzed waist down.
Their father subconsciously blames Gilbert, which causes him to blame himself, and yay happy fun times.
Not to say their dad doesn't love Gil, it's just very very complicated.
So like Gil goes to a college called Shiz.
He ends up having to room with François Bonnefoi of Upland, the AU's Glinda.
They... don't really get along because they're so different but they both respect the other academically.
(and tbh everyone in school thinks Fran is hot and Gil is not exempt)
(and Fran does think Gil's green skin and red eyes are at least pretty shades)
(tho neither would ever admit these facts)
Arthur takes Dr. Dillamond's place narratively.
He's a Donkey lol what can I say.
And he keeps calling Fran Francis.
And he's sorta a sarcastic prick.
But so is Gil so it's fine.
He's tryna prove Animals are closer genetically to munchkins than animals.
Yknow for Animal rights reasons.
Fran and Gil actually sorta make friends over the rooming together and sorcery homework.
They also no homo cuddle because nightmares and nothing else I swear.
It's fine shut up.
Sebastian/Basch is Boq in this au but I choose to ignore all Boqs who aren't book Boq.
So like a munchkin who knew Gil when they were younger.
They were mutually horrible to each other as kids but they're cool now.
Basch thinks Fran is hot too but he's fine with the rejection.
His annoying roommate, Antonio, keeps pushing him about it tho.
Antonio is Fiyero btw.
Actually Avaric tho because I'm also mixing their personalities like the musical because too many characters.
He's a dumbass but he's got a good heart.
They release Brrr together 💖
Gil ends up telling Basch about Arthur's plan, and Basch helps by grabbing library books for him (everyone sorta knows Gil's a revolutionary)
Arthur is killed because he's an Animal rights activists, and it's framed as a accident. He really gets no good things sorry England stans.
Gil and Fran (who's know like "okay I'll go by Francis in the Ass's honor) are convinced it isn't exactly an accident and that the headmistress set it up but can't speak up about it because she's working for the Wizard and because she's teaching them sorcery.
They actually are closer than ever because of the mutual suspicion.
They talk about their pasts together it's gay.
Ludwig ends up coming to the school a couple years after Gil.
With the silver slippers their dad gave him and everything.
I'm not saying Gil is pining for like all his friends or anything but...
I can't believe Gilbert becomes a terrorist activist witch either who would've thought.
Or that Francis works in politics and really misses the old days.
Alfred is Dorothy btw.
Gilbert like "this kid has my dead brother's shoes" and Alfred is like "hey Mr green magic dude I like your hat, mind if I stay here for a few days?"
"I technically came to defeat you but I'm like 12 and a half so..."
Won over from genocidal rage by a child who really wants you to try his apple pie recipe.
"Francis why did you give the child Ludwig's shoes?" "IDK THEY HAVE PROTECTION MAGIC AND I PANICKED."
Alfred is incredibly traumatized by the whole water bucket incident rip.
Do Gilbert and Antonio actually die? Who knows.
Francis is pretty upset and lonely nonetheless.

Chapter 14: What Do We Do First?
The Picani twins took to calling Remy ‘Dad’ almost immediately. Seeing how happy it made their own father, the Sanders boys did the same to Emile.
The first time Logan said it to Emile, he almost cried. Tears welled up in his eyes and he’d gently hugged Logan, making sure it was alright first. Logan hugged him back tightly and let out a soft sigh before heading up to his room.
Over the course of the rest of the boys’ sophomore year, Remy was working up the courage to have a very particular conversation with Emile. Every time he thought he was ready, he chickened out, opting for anything else.
Emile wasn’t stupid, and he could tell Remy had something he wanted to talk about. But the beginning of the year was a busy time for him. There were many people who decided that their resolution would be to finally go to therapy, and Emile was picking up clients left and right.
By the time everything evened out, and those who decided therapy wasn’t for them had dropped it, April had rolled around. The first time Emile truly had a break was the weekend of Roman’s musical.
“I’m headed to the school! See you after!” Roman was shouting into the house as Emile came home.
Emile ducked around him, giving him a high five. “Break a leg.”
“Thank you!”
Roman zipped off, hopping in with Tanya Task, who was waiting at the end of the driveway. The two of them headed off to the school.
Logan cleared his throat, getting everyone’s attention. “We’re going to go hang out in my room until it’s time for dinner. Unless you want help?”
“No,” Remy cut in, realizing what Logan was trying to do for him. “We’ve got it. You probably don’t want to see us sneaking kisses anyway.”
“Is it sneaking if we know you’re doing it?”
Patton giggled at Virgil’s question before heading upstairs behind his brother.
The room fell into a comfortable silence as Emile and Remy expertly moved around each other as they made dinner. The routine was comfortable, the two of them “sneaking” kisses as they went along.
Once the sauce was simmering with the pasta noodles, Emile slipped onto one of their stools. “What’s been on your mind recently?”
“Should’ve known you noticed,” Remy said, before biting his lip. “There’s a conversation we need to have. But I don’t think we should have it while our kids are spying on us.”
A loud gasp came from the staircase, followed by scrambling footsteps as the boys darted upstairs.
Emile stood, taking Remy’s hands in his. “I’m hoping it’s a good thing we need to talk about, but whatever it is, we can have a mature conversation.”
“Oh, god, of course it’s a good thing, Em!” Linking their fingers together, Remy pressed a kiss to Emile’s forehead. “It’s about moving forward, not back. I promise.”
“Pinky promise?”
Remy wrapped his pinky around Emile’s, looking at him with all the love in his heart. “Pinky promise.”
“Apologies for ruining the moment, but I’d rather not eat burnt pasta.”
Both parents dove for the stove. Remy clicked the knob to turn off the heat while Emile yanked the pot off, moving it onto a hot pad.
“Thanks, Logan.”
As the boys set the table, Remy ran a hand through his hair, huffing a little. He’d avoided the conversation again, even though it hadn’t been his intention.
Tonight. He thought to himself, smiling as Emile moved around the table, scooping out portions. We talk tonight.
After everyone had eaten their fill and they’d cleaned up, it was time to head over to get seats for Roman’s show.
“But it starts at 7, Em.” Remy said as Emile drove them over to the school.
Emile shook his head, but anyone could see the small smile on his face. “It starts at 7, yes. But we need to go now so we can get decent seats.”
“Yeah, the best seats tend to be taken by 6:15, if my notes are any indication.” Papers ruffled before Logan spoke again. “Of course, Roman may have gotten the privilege of saving seats for family, but that would technically only apply to the Sanders.”
Turning around, Remy noticed the look on Logan’s face. He simply gave him a nod, the two of them breaking into grins.
It wasn’t surprising that Logan had figured it out. It wasn’t as though Remy had been trying to hide it.
Emile pulled into a parking spot, everyone heading to the front doors. They were joined in the lobby by the other Tasks, the kids all paying for their tickets and heading in to save seats while the adults talked amongst themselves.
“Tanya has been so excited for tonight. I’m so glad she got cast as Elphaba, it’s been her dream role for years.”
Remy laughed. “Yeah, that’s how Roman was last year. He was so excited to play Cinderella’s Prince.”
They talked for a little while longer, before Emile tugged on Remy’s arm. “Rem, the lights are flashing, we’ve gotta go!”
Emile and Remy gave the Tasks a wave goodbye before hustling to their seats. As soon as they’d taken their jackets off and gotten settled, the lights were dimmed completely.
The show went on without too many issues. At one point Roman’s mic hadn’t been turned on, but he managed to project enough that the hanging lights picked up his voice.
During Dancing Through Life, Roman absolutely killed it. The crowd cheered loudly as the music faded, and everyone could see the giant smile on Roman’s face before the lights dimmed.
As the lights came up at the end of the show, the entire audience was on their feet, whistling and clapping.
The Picanis and Sanders made their way to the lobby. Within just a few minutes, the cast came out, making their way to their respective families.
Roman rushed over, giving Patton a bear hug. He gestured for the other boys to join, giving them space as they obliged.
“What did you think??”
“You did amazing!” Patton gushed, jumping up and down in place. “Fiyero is such a good part for you!”
Giving Patton another hug, Roman turned to Logan. “Thanks for the help with the choreography. That little rhyme you made up helped me so much.”
“You’re welcome.”
“V? What did you think?”
Virgil glanced up from fiddling with his sleeves. “You were really good. I can tell that your range has gotten better. Not that it was bad or anything last year, but-”
Roman laid a hand on his shoulder, stopping the explanation. “I get you, no worries.”
“Roman! We’re taking a cast picture!”
“Gotta go, can’t make Elphaba mad.” The joke got a laugh out of the family, and a few of the surrounding crowd. “I’ll meet you guys at home later, we’ve got that cast party tonight.”
“Be home by 11, and stay safe!” Emile called after him as Roman disappeared into the crowd.
“Can we go?” Virgil’s voice was nearly a whisper. He had pulled his hood up and was tugging on the strings.
Emile and Remy exchanged guilty glances before quickly getting the boys back out to the car. Once they were on the road, Remy saw Virgil’s shoulders relax from the rear-view mirror.
“I’m sorry we didn’t leave sooner.”
The two locked eyes in the mirror, Virgil nodding. “It’s okay.”
“Hey, it’s okay to be anxious, remember?” Emile said, his tone gentle. “Do we need to change your medication? You made it through the adjustment period.”
There was a beat of silence.
“Yeah.”
“Okay. I’ll give Dr. McCall a call tomorrow and we’ll get an appointment set up.”
Remy just barely heard Logan whisper, “I can come with if you want. I’ve been doing some research.”
The boys ran upstairs as soon as they got back home. Logan and Virgil were going to look up some of the medications that Logan had looked into, while Patton worked on a diorama.
Swallowing his nerves, Remy grabbed Emile’s hand. “Hey, Em? Can we talk? Good things, I swear.”
“Of course.”
Emile sat down on the couch, watching as Remy paced back and forth. “Do you need therapist Emile or boyfriend Emile?”
That cut the tension, letting Remy get a laugh out. “Boyfriend Emile. And, that’s….kind of what I wanted to talk about.”
“Rem.” Emile’s eyes were getting wide. “Are you proposing?”
“No! I mean, not right this second.” Remy let out a deep sigh. He pushed his hair back, hand bumping into his sunglasses. Taking them off, he played with them in his hands. “But...if I were to do so in the future?”
“Oh, honey, I’d love that!” Grabbing Remy’s face, Emile pulled him into a quick kiss.
Resisting the urge to continue, Remy pulled back ever so slightly. “There’s one more thing. It’s about the kids. We...well, we already pretty much co-parent. I’d like to adopt them.”
That made Emile give him a soft smile. “While I wholeheartedly agree, and I want to adopt your boys as well...we should wait.”
“What?”
“I’m worried what Virgil might think if we adopted them before we were married.” Emile started to explain, threading their fingers together. “He might be afraid that you’ll leave me and then he’d have to deal with two households.”
Leaning so that their foreheads touched, Remy asked, “He’d be afraid or you would be?”
“...maybe a bit of both.”
“Emile Thomas Picani.” Remy started, dropping to one knee. “This isn’t a proposal, but rather a pre-proposal. I love you more than anything on this earth, second to my sons only. If I asked for your hand in marriage, what would you-“
“Yes!” Emile cut him off, pressing their lips together once more, but with more urgency. “Yes, Remy, I will agree to marry you whenever you choose to propose.”
“You’re perfect.”
“Uno reverse.”
The two giggled, falling into each other’s arms and talking as they waited for Roman to get home.

A Very Merry Lurlinemas Eve
Tumblr media
A very late, self-indulgent domestic one shot with the Thropp/Tiggular family I wrote for Lurlinemas! Hope you enjoy and have a Happy New Year!

“Yero, did you wrap the presents for Nessa and Boq yet?”
Elphaba hovered over the cradle, gently swinging it back and forth whilst making silly faces and babbling nonsense at the child nestled inside. At just twelve months old, Liir was amused by everything. His big, green eyes glimmered in the light from the fireplace, his mouth in the shape of a small o. He wrapped his tiny fingers around Elphaba’s index and cooed.
“Yeah! I got them right here-”
He cursed slightly above a whisper when he stumbled into the living room and nearly tripped over his own feet.
“Fiyero!” Elphaba scolded. “Not in front of him! I don’t want his first words to be foul.”
“Sorry,” Fiyero sheepishly chuckled and set the presents under the tree. “It’s not like he can understand what I’m saying. Isn’t that right, little buddy?”
He squatted down and blew raspberries into his soft belly, making him squeal and giggle. Elphaba playfully rolled her eyes, brushing back the short, dark curls that fell over Liir’s forehead. She pinched his chubby cheek and got up to look at the haphazardly wrapped gifts Fiyero placed below the tree.
“... Please tell me there’s still left over wrapping paper.”
Fiyero looked over his shoulder, still in the midst of a tickle fight with Liir. “Hm? You don’t like the way I wrapped the presents?”
“Yero, I say this with all the love in my heart... it looks like you layered the paper around the box several times and slapped a ribbon atop it.”
He feigned offense. “Fae! How could you? I’m wounded by your horrendible words!”
“Oh Fiyero…” She sighed defeatedly.
“I’m kidding... Come on, what difference does it make? They’re going to be ripped apart tomorrow— why stress out over how the wrapping paper looks?”
“It shows that we put some thought into their gifts and didn’t wrap them up at the last second.” She stripped away a piece of excess tape stuck to the shiny emerald paper.
“Well, we technically did- but they’ll get over it once they see what they get. I can already hear Glinda screaming for joy when she opens hers.”
Elphaba rearranged the small, pink gift bag that contained the jewelry set for the petite blonde. It was true, they both put a lot of thought into what they planned to gift their loved ones.
“Well… I suppose you’re right,” She smiled up at him. “Thank you for wrapping the presents, Fiyero.”
“You’re welcome,” Fiyero walked over to her, Liir in his arms. “I must be the luckiest man in Oz to have the most patient wife, right Liir?”
Liir babbled nonsense in response.
“See? He agrees.” Fiyero planted a sweet kiss on her cheek.
“Of course he does, he has my brains.” She quipped.
“Oh ha-ha...”
They took a moment to gaze at the tree. Liir’s eyes twinkled at the dozens of multicolored lights glowing on the branches. His tiny hands reached out to grab an ornament doll made of tin. Elphaba gently pulled his wrist back before he inevitably put it in his mouth.
“Y’know… this’ll be the only time we’ll have for ourselves,” He placed his hand on her shoulder. “Tomorrow will be one big day of festivating with the others.”
Elphaba hummed in agreement, stroking his cheek affectionately.
“-Hey, what do you say we celebrate a little early— just the three of us?” He suggested.
Elphaba looked at him, perplexed. “You mean… open our presents right now?” She quirked an eyebrow in doubt. “Shouldn’t we wait for everyone until tomorrow morning as courtesy?”
“No, no- just one present each!” Fiyero assured. “It’s a huge pile, no one’s gonna notice if a box or two is missing. Besides, with all the guests in one room, how will I get to see the absolute look of joy on your face when you open my gift?” He lightly squeezed Liir’s cheek and spoke in an adoring voice, “-and our boy has been good all year round! Well, aside from throwing up all over my dress shirt last week.”
“Oh, he didn’t mean to do that,” Elphaba smooched her son’s temple. “Maybe papa shouldn’t have spun you in the air right after you ate.”
Fiyero winced at the statement. “Alright, that was on me- but the point is he deserves one early gift tonight!” Speaking in his baby voice, he smiled down at Liir. “You wanna see what Lurline brought you this year?”
Not comprehending any of his words, Liir incoherently blabbered. Fiyero took that as an agreement and plucked something out from the tiniest stocking hanging above the fireplace. He hid it behind his back as he returned, bending his knees to be at eye level with the child.
Fiyero presented a plush doll: a cutesyfied monkey with small wings stitched to his back and a friendly smile. “Look! This is for you!”
Elphaba played up her excitement at the toy, lightly bouncing Liir in her arms and coaxing him to look at it. The young boy looked unfamiliar with it at first, not sure what it was exactly. When his mother didn’t stop his tiny hands from touching it, he grasped it. A slow smile grew on his face, followed by giggles.
“Happy Lurlinemas, Liir.” Fiyero kissed his cheek.
“Say thank you to papa,” Elphaba encouraged. The infant was far too preoccupied with his new toy to even acknowledge her. “I guess we’ll have to work on expressing gratitutions later…”
“He’ll learn.” Fiyero promised. He beamed brightly and ruffled his messy, raven hair.
“Well, since we’re at it,” Elphaba carefully handed Liir over to him. “I’ve got something I hope you’ll like.”
“Fae, you could give me a pebble as a gift and I’ll love it.”
She leaned down and reached behind the tree. “That’s quite the reassurement, but I promise I got you something one step above a pebble,”
Wrapped in shiny emerald paper with a gold bow on top, Elphaba handed him a small box. “Happy Lurlinemas.”
Fiyero eagerly took it and lightly shook the box next to his ear. He handed Liir back to her and tore it open, revealing a gold wrist watch with a green dial. There were five, smaller sub-dials inside the watch, each one labeling the time of day for all the provinces in Oz.
“Elphaba…” Fiyero carefully held the watch in his hand, examining it in pure adoration. “This is... I can’t even begin to describe it-”
“Do you like it? I wasn’t sure if it was something you’d wear daily.”
“Elphaba, I love it! It’s beautiful! Thank you, my dearest.” He placed a peck on her lips. With her help, he secured the watch around his wrist and basked in its glory. “-Speaking of which, I’ve been waiting all year to see your reaction to what I’ve got for you.”
“Is that so?” Elphaba watched him scour through the presents until he said “Aha!” when he found a medium sized box.
“Here...” Fiyero sat cross legged on the floor. Elphaba followed suit and passed Liir over to sit on his lap, taking the somewhat heavy box in her hands
“What’s this?” Her brown eyes lit up with curiosity.
“Open it and see for yourself!” Fiyero grinned.
A smile grew on Elphaba’s face. She tore away the gold wrapping paper, revealing a wooden box. Confused, she unlocked the latch and opened the lid. When she removed the bright blue fabric on top of her gift, she gasped in disbelief.
They were ruby slippers. Nearly identical to the silver slippers her sister owned. Elphaba had once brought up to Fiyero the time her father gifted Nessa the priceless pair of shoes as a parting gift at Shiz. While she did not care for extravagant shoewear, she remembered how hurt she felt when Frex didn’t give her something as little as a postcard.
At the time, it felt like a stab to the heart, seeing Nessa look so beautiful and elegant in her new slippers while Elphaba lugged around in worn out boots like a beggar. It was a painful reminder of how low she thought of herself before she found the people she loved the most in life.
Elphaba couldn’t hold back her tears, her fingers hovering over the red jewels. “Yero… I- I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything…  your face speaks a thousand words.”
Elphaba placed the shoes to the side and frantically wrapped her arms around him. Fiyero placed a hand on the small of her back, laughing wholeheartedly at the kisses she planted all over his face.
Below them, Liir cried out. Elphaba cupped his cheek and placed soft kisses on his tender face as well.
“Oh, I didn’t forget about you.” She spoke sweetly, smothering him in kisses.
“Happy Lurlinemas to my most beautiful wife and son.” Fiyero said.
“Your only wife and son.” Elphaba teased.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
He helped her remove her booties and slipped her shoes on. They were the perfect fit, comfortably tailored to her size. She stared at them in admiration, once more thanking her husband with kisses.
The pair spent their evening playing with their child, enjoying the sacred time they had together.

Thanks for reading! I’m sorry this is probably not my best work and that it was posted a little late in the season. This was mostly a self-indulgent fluff fic I’ve been meaning to write since I see so little of the Thropp/Tiggular + Liir family dynamic. I’m also technically still a little new to publishing fiyeraba fics that maintain their characters. Bear with me please haha ;;
Thank you again to Emma for the beautiful art! Show your love by reblogging and commissioning her if you can!

---
Roman sat on the edge of the stage, his hands gripping the script for Wicked closely, feet dangling and swinging gently. He had taken off his jacket and messenger bag, the two things sitting beside him, and at every sound he heard, he spun his head in that direction; he was nervous to spend time with Virgil to practice for the auditions, but he was also desperately looking forward to it. Finally, he heard a door close behind him and some shuffling feet, and he turned his head to see Virgil walking towards him, backpack slung over one shoulder, hoodie held tightly in his hand. Roman inspected the shirt he was wearing and realized that it said My Chemical Romance; a band that Remus was also a fan of. In fact, he had seen that exact shirt on his brother a few times. Did they go to a concert together or go shopping for that shirt together? Was it Virgil’s shirt that Remus borrowed or vice-versa? Roman was afraid to find out.
“Hey, Roman. Sorry I’m late, I had to stop by one of my professor’s office hours,” Virgil explained, dropping his stuff beside Roman’s. He leaned down to get his script out of his backpack, and Roman stood up, smiling.
“Don’t worry, I was just looking through it, trying to decide which scene we should practice,” he responded, trying to not focus on the way Virgil hesitated over every step he made on the stage. “I think that we should maybe work on Boq’s part in Dancing Through Life, what do you think?” He knew that the wheelchair for the role of Nessa was backstage somewhere, so they could make it work.
“Y-you mean, singing and dancing?” Virgil looked down at his feet. “I-I don’t know… I’m afraid that I’ll fall if we dance…” Roman set a hand on his shoulder and gave him an encouraging smile.
“I’ll stay standing just in case you do,” he said, and Virgil nodded. Roman took his phone out of his pocket and connected it to the bluetooth speakers in the theater so that the music would play from the stage speakers. He started the instrumental version of the song, and from memory sang Fiyero’s part in the song. He moved across the stage as he sang, Virgil’s eyes focused on him. When the song got to Boq’s part, Roman sang for Nessa, urging Virgil to join him, and he did.
“Listen, Nessa,” Virgil spoke the lines stepping towards Roman, who also stepped forward, giving him a questioning look.
“Yes?” He asked, and Virgil took his hand, looking down at him. Roman felt his heartbeat quicken but stayed in character.
“Uh - Nessa, I've got something to confess, a reason why, well - why I asked you here tonight,” He took a breath, and their eyes met. “Now I know it isn't fair–”
“Oh Boq, I know why,” Roman breathed out, trying to make sure he kept his word about ensuring that Virgil wouldn’t fall on the stage.
“You do?” Virgil’s voice rang throughout the theater, and Roman took another deep breath.
“It’s because I’m in this chair and you felt sorry for me, well, isn’t that right?” Roman sang, looking down at his feet as if he were actually playing the role of Nessarose. Virgil held on tighter to his hand.
“No! No! It’s because… because…” He took Roman’s face in one of his hands, making their eyes meet, and Roman thought his heart would burst through his red shirt. “Because you are so beautiful…”
“Oh Boq! I think you’re wonderful,” Roman sang back, his voice wavering at the close proximity and touches from Virgil. “And we deserve each other, Don't you see, this is our chance? We deserve each other… Don't we, Boq?”
“You know what?” Virgil’s voice sounded more confident, and Roman was unsure if it was because of the character or that he actually became more confident. “Let’s dance!”
“What?” Roman was still in character but he was surprised when Virgil held him close and the two began dancing around the stage as if Nessa’s character wasn’t meant to be in a wheelchair. Virgil led him in a dance, and Roman tried hard to not fall over his feet, wanting to keep his promise.
“Let’s daaaance!” The instrumental to the song kept playing in the background but Virgil and Roman were silent as they moved to the music, hands resting awkwardly on shoulders and hips, their scripts held against the other’s body. Their eyes met, and Roman swore he saw a softness in Virgil’s dark eyes that he hadn’t before. When the song ended they separated, and Virgil looked down at his feet, his face bright red. “Sorry. I got, um, a little carried away,” he explained, rolling and twisting the script in his hands. Roman couldn’t think of a valid response. He wanted to say that he liked dancing with Virgil, that he loved the way he touched him so gently as if they might never touch again and he was savoring that feeling.
“It’s alright,” Roman finally said. He tried hard to ensure his voice was even, because he felt so shaky, so nervous. “You have a beautiful singing voice, Virgil.” Even though the taller man’s fringe was covering the majority of his face, Roman still noticed that his face reddened at his words. “I think you’re really talented, and I can’t wait to see you get that role.”
“Can we do some of the speaking parts next? The ones later on in the play, maybe that scene with Elphaba and Nessa when Boq becomes the Tin Man? I-I just… want to do more practice with that…” Virgil was stammering over his words, and Roman found it interesting that a man that tall could be so… uneasy, but he didn’t judge. The two flipped to that scene in their scripts and began reading.
-
“Thanks for coming here tonight, Roman,” Virgil said when he opened the door to the apartment. “Janus is out with Logan and Re is… somewhere. Maybe with Patton? So it’s just us, we can move the furniture to make it easier to practice.” Roman nodded, setting his bag down next to the door. He had been in the apartment before, yes, but it felt like there was a different vibe when it was just Virgil there. “And I just… I dunno, I didn’t feel like leaving the house today.”
“That’s alright, I don’t mind… As long as you pay for the pizza we are going to order later,” Roman smirked, removing his jacket. He set it on one of the chairs at the dining table. He tried not to focus on the fact that Virgil was wearing a plain black t-shirt and some purple plaid pajama pants. He was dressed casually, too, in some black joggers and a red shirt. He slipped out of his sneakers and then got out his script.
“Do you want to practice some of the parts for Fiyero?” Virgil asked, partially sitting on the arm of the couch. Roman shook his head.
“I don’t mind focusing on Boq, because I want you to be as prepared as possible for next week,” he said, and Virgil nodded, head down. “Virge?”
“I just… you’re helping me so much, even though Boq is such a minor part, and you’re going for Fiyero, this big role, and…” He sighed, twisting his fingers together. “I feel bad... taking your practice time from you.” Roman wanted to hold Virgil and tell him that it was okay, but he didn’t, he just shrugged.
“I feel more prepared for this audition than anything I’ve ever auditioned for before. So please don’t worry about it,” he said, voice calm. He wanted to try even harder to do well on this audition because he wanted to perform with Virgil on stage, maybe get to hold his hand during the curtain call, spend hours in rehearsals to the point where they were both exhausted but happy, then he accidentally takes a sip of Virgil’s iced coffee… Suddenly, he remembered something he wanted to ask Virgil. “Hey, what size shoe do you wear?”
“Huh? Oh. An 11 and a half. Why?” Virgil gave him a confused look, but Roman just smirked and shrugged again.
“No reason. Should we do a song or some dialogue first?”
-
“I’ll get it,” Virgil said, getting up from his sitting position on the floor. He opened the door and paid the pizza person, then set it on the dining table. Roman hopped up from the floor and investigated the pizza when Virgil opened the box. It was half meat lovers (*wink wink*) and half cheese only. Roman thought that purely cheese pizza was boring, but it was what Virgil had wanted, so he acquiesced. Virgil’s taste in pizza didn’t change the way he felt about the taller man, and plus, Virgil did pay for it and the soda they ordered along with it. The two piled as many pieces as they could onto the paper plates they were provided, and Virgil went into the kitchen quickly to get some glasses for their soda.
They ate quickly and quietly, the past several hours of practicing having made them both exhausted and starving, and pretty soon the entire pizza was gone and the two were lounging on the couch, flipping through the script to figure out what other moments would be good during the audition. Virgil finally spoke, voice hesitant.
“I feel more like the cowardly lion than anything,” he admitted. Roman didn’t say anything but pulled his legs under him, watching the other man very carefully. “I feel… sheltered. Protected. Janus has always… guided me in the direction that I didn’t realize I needed to go in, but ever since he entered the partnership with Logan, I just… feel like I’m on the back burner.” Roman frowned, hating that Virgil could feel that way, but he knew it was natural.
“How long have you and Janus been friends for?” He finally asked, and Virgil leaned his head against the cushions, sighing, deep in thought.
“Since… middle school, I think. I was always on my own, for… obvious reasons,” he started, and Roman’s frown deepened.
“I don’t think it’s obvious,” he muttered, which made Virgil smile a little bit. “Go on, sorry.”
“It’s fine, I just…” Virgil sighed, “I was depressed, I was always having panic attacks, and… I think my scars scared people.” Roman nodded but stayed quiet, watching as Virgil played with the hem of his shirt. “Janus just… took me under his wing. Cape. He was just as weird as I was, and he…” Virgil smiled, the memories flooding back, “He would text me reminders to take my meds, to drink water, to get rest. When I told him I was struggling to not cut, he would come over immediately and just draw on my arms and legs, if only to get that feeling out of my head. He bought me these noise-cancelling headphones and would slip them over my head, then play jazz music for me. When I tried to...” Virgil’s breath hitched, then, and his eyes peered down.
“You don’t… if this is hard to talk about…” Roman started, but Virgil shook his head, and Roman just reached his hand out to rub against Virgil’s shoulder, in an attempt to comfort him.
“When I tried to kill myself, Jan… he found me. Took me to the hospital. Insisted on sleeping in the chair beside my bed as I recovered,” Virgil explained, hands and voice a little shaky. “My parents didn’t care, but Janus did. I’ve been able to get better because of him, but… now that he has someone else to care for, I think he’s… losing sight of me.”
“I don’t think that’s true,” Roman said abruptly, which made Virgil give him a surprised look. “Janus cares about you, and the fact that he’s in a partnership with Logan doesn’t change that. If you needed him, he would be there in an instant. I’m sure of it. He was at every one of our productions last term, even though he didn’t see you the entire time.” Virgil nodded, and let his head fall onto Roman’s hand.
“Yeah. You’re probably right… I just feel so… unable to do things, sometimes,” he said, eyes fluttering shut. He tried to stifle a yawn but it came out anyways, and Roman smiled sweetly at him, then glanced at the clock.
“I should probably go. It’s pretty late,” he said, starting to get up from the couch, but Virgil grabbed his hand. Their eyes met, and Roman’s heart felt like it was going to leap out of his chest.
“Thank you, Roman. For… everything.”
-
“Hey, Virge! Sorry I’m late,” Roman ran up to Virgil, who was pacing outside the theater. Roman had a bag from a local shoe store in hand, and was panting; he had run from the parking lot, not wanting to miss this final practice, since the auditions were the following day. Virgil’s eyes landed on the bag and he shot a questioning look to the shorter man. Roman noticed his glance and smiled, then handed the bag to Virgil. “These are for you, actually. Open it.”
“Ro–”
“Please? Just… open it, okay?” Their eyes met and Virgil nodded, opening the bag. He took the shoe box out and flipped the top open. “They’re anti-slip shoes. So even if something spills on the stage–” he was cut off by Virgil giving him a big hug, which startled him so much that they almost fell backwards. “Whoah, careful! You’re not wearing the shoes yet!” Virgil was gripping to Roman tightly, and he said nothing.
“Thank you,” Virgil whispered softly, and he pulled away, face bright red. “I… I really appreciate this.” Roman nodded, adjusting his backpack’s strap.
“Yeah, of course,” he said, returning the smile. “Wouldn’t want you falling head over heels now would we?” Virgil’s face turned even redder, and Roman started to panic, did he screw up??
“We should head in, our practice time slot is coming up,” Virgil said abruptly, putting the lid back onto the box and heading into the theater. Roman sighed, then followed him inside.
-
“It’s okay, Virge, you’re gonna do great,” Roman was standing in front of him, an encouraging look on his face. Their audition was next, and Virgil was breathing heavily, his hands were shaking, and even though Roman was also nervous, he did his best to convey confidence to his friend. “We’ve got this, okay?”
“I-I don’t know, maybe I should just… be a tech guy again. Yeah. I’m not cut out for this,” he was rambling, eyes darting towards the stage where a girl was belting Defying Gravity, and back to Roman, who reached out and took his hands to soothe their shaking, and his voice was calling Virgil back from a place where his mind was lost.
“Virge. Look at me, only me, okay? Don’t worry about the director or the others that are here,” he said softly, and Virgil met his glance, nodding. “Just focus on me. I won’t ever let you fall. I promise.”
As soon as they got onto the stage, Virgil in the anti-slip shoes, his anxiety almost disappeared. It didn’t hurt that the stage lighting made Roman even more beautiful than usual, and when Roman was at his best, so was Virgil. He kept his eyes only on Roman as he introduced the two, said what roles they were each auditioning for, and they began their audition. Virgil slipped over a few words but got an encouraging smile from Roman, so he kept going, and when their audition was over they thanked the director and walked off. His legs nearly gave out on him from the stress but Roman had his arms around him immediately.
“You did so good, Virge,” he was saying, murmuring more sweet things, kind things. Virgil felt like he could turn into a puddle, he was being held by Roman and he was being told all of these things. He finally glanced up when he heard their names being called by someone.
“Virgil! Roman!” It was Patton, Remus being dragged behind him, their fingers intertwined. Logan and Janus were not far behind, but Janus pushed forward to be at the front of the group. Virgil shot Roman a confused look.
“I told them about how nervous you were and figured you could use some encouragement afterwards,” he explained as Janus gave Virgil a big hug.
“We were watching from the back where you couldn’t see us,” Janus said. “You did so well, I’m so proud of you for taking this step.”
“When do you find out the results?” Logan asked as the group left out one of the side doors to the theater.
“If they need them, callbacks will be next week, and then in two weeks they’ll put out the cast list,” Roman explained, watching as Virgil and Janus walked, arms linked. He smiled, but felt a little off; he didn’t get as much time with Virgil after the audition as he had hoped for, but he knew this would help the anxious man. Remus came up to him and wrapped an arm around his shoulder.
“You did really great, Ro,” he said, a genuine smile on his face. Roman looked down, he was never sure how to talk to his brother, not after everything that had happened to them both, but he smiled back.
“Thanks. And… thanks for coming. I know you probably came for Virgil, but… I still appreciate it,” his voice was hesitant, and Remus frowned.
“No, I came to support my brother,” he corrected, and Roman nodded. “And I’m really proud of you.”
-
Roman and Virgil ran. They were having lunch with the others when they each got a text that the cast list was about to be posted, so they left the others and were running across campus towards the theater. Virgil stopped once it was in view, which made Roman stop. The anxious man was shaking, and he squatted down, holding his face in his hands.
“Oh god, I’m not going to get it,” he was saying, and Roman squatted down next to him, putting a hand on his back. “It’s all been for nothing, Roman. I’m not going to get it.”
“Hey, shhh, it’s okay, Virgil,” he cooed softly. “We don’t know that. I’m very confident that you got it, come on, let’s go find out.”
“I’m scared,” Virgil’s voice was shaky, and Roman realized that he was crying. “I’m scared that I’m not going to get it and I’ll be in the back again watching everyone else and I’ll just feel… lost.”
“Hey, I won’t let that happen,” Roman said, continuing to rub Virgil’s back comfortingly. “Do you want me to go and check and then come back?” Virgil shook his head.
“No, don’t leave me…” he whined, and buried his face into Roman’s shoulder. “I’m okay, I just… I’m not ready for this to be over.”
“Not ready for what to be over?” Roman’s voice was full of confusion.
“This. Hanging out with you, practicing for auditions. If you get the role and I don’t… we won’t be able to hang out anymore,” Virgil admitted, and Roman could feel tears staining through his shirt.
“Why not?” He asked, “I still want to hang out with you, no matter what happens. I told you I wouldn’t let you fall, and that means I won’t let you fall out of my life, either.” Virgil said nothing as he stood back up, wiping his face onto the sleeve of his hoodie. Roman stood up too, watching Virgil carefully. “Come on, let’s go see your name on that cast list.” He held his hand out, and Virgil laced his fingers through Roman’s. They walked the rest of the way to the theater, saying nothing, and waited for the crowd around the corkboard to dissipate a little before going up to scan it with their eyes.
Fiyero Tiggular / The Scarecrow……………………………………………….. Roman Creative
Boq / The Tin Man……………………………………………......…….…... Virgil Cloud
“I got it,” Virgil whispered. Roman cheered, his free hand wrapping around Virgil and lifting him up, which wasn’t easy given the fact that Virgil was significantly taller than him, but he didn’t care. Virgil kept muttering the words, and Roman pulled him off to the side, the two exchanging a big hug.
“I knew you would, Virge,” Roman murmured. Virgil pulled away from Roman’s arms a little bit, his face bright red and his eyes meeting those of the shorter man. He didn’t hesitate to press their foreheads together, and Roman sucked in a deep breath. “Virgil, I...” he started, but didn’t get a chance to finish when chapped lips met his glossy ones. Virgil pulled back, panic in his eyes.
“I-I’m sorry, I just, I’ve wanted to do that for a while and now seemed like the perfect time and I’m so sorry–” Roman cut off his rambles by kissing him again, wrapping his arms around the taller man’s neck. Their kisses were sloppy and rushed, and when they finally pulled apart to catch their breath, Roman was grinning wildly.
“Don’t apologize,” he whispered, holding one of Virgil’s cheeks in his hand. “I’ve wanted to do that for so long, Virge.” They smiled rather stupidly at each other, and all Roman could think was why he had hesitated for so long to kiss Virgil.

teaser for part four: we deserve happiness, too
“Lo, we’ve been over this. Just because love and romance aren’t things we want to or can feel, doesn’t mean we’re broken,” Janus’ words were like a song that Logan needed to play over and over, and he wondered if that feeling would ever disappear.

15 Musical Theatre Duets That Make Me Believe In Love Again
Hi! This is a follow-up on my other list: 15 Musical Theatre Female Solos That Make Me Feel Things. This time, I’m going to talk about 15 musical theatre duets that make me believe in love again (obviously, as the title suggests). Love songs are beautiful and special, and I always love listening to them. You don’t even have to be in a relationship to really enjoy them. You just have to listen and feel the music and lyrics.
Musical theatre love songs are a whole different story. I find them more meaningful because they’re part of a story. They help the story progress, as well as provide insight to the characters’ personality. And probably most importantly, these songs help make the audience understand the love these characters feel for each other.
The following songs are my favorite romantic duets in musical theatre. Romantic duets are love songs sung by two people — usually, it’s sung when they profess their love for each other. I love them to bits, and I love how they made me feel. They’re also fun to sing along to! These songs are, in my opinion, incredibly romantic. They transcend me to a different place, and yes, they do make me believe in love again. Also, let me just remind you, that this is my personal list, so if you don’t agree, well then, you can always make a list of your own.
(Disclaimer: I arranged these songs randomly to avoid favoritism, so this is not exactly a “ranking” list.)
1. Sun and Moon - Miss Saigon
Tumblr media
I was initially confused which song I would choose from Miss Saigon — this one or “The Last Night of the World.” I eventually chose this one because I liked the lyrics more. They’re so simple, but you can definitely feel the love between Kim and Chris with each word.
This song is sung early on the show, where everything was going perfectly for the both of them. After spending the night, Kim and Chris fell in love unexpectedly while there is an ongoing war. He’s a soldier; she’s a prostitute. They come from a different world, but they found each other. It’s the perfect love song for them.
Most memorable lyrics: How in the light of one night / Did we come so far?
2. Tonight - West Side Story
Tumblr media
Just like Kim and Chris from Miss Saigon, Tony and Maria from West Side Story come from a different world. He’s a Jet; she’s a, well... Shark by relation? Anyway, this song is also an absolute favorite of mine. The music, the lyrics... are oh-so gorgeous. Even though they’ve only met one time prior to this song, they fell in love at first sight — and they fell hard. Both Tony and Maria were ready to risk their relationship with family and friends to be with each other.
But before the story went into chaos, this song perfectly described the love they feel for each other. It’s a delightful song, and I love it to bits. I look forward to the day I sing this to a special someone who’s ready to defy everyone just to be with me!
Most memorable lyrics:  But here you are / And what was just a world is a star / Tonight
3. Ten Minutes Ago - Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella
Tumblr media
Ever wondered what it feels like to fall in love at first sight? Well, Ella and Prince Topher can tell you — or rather, sing it for you. This song is just as beautiful as the costumes of this Rodger and Hammerstein’s Cinderella production. Seriously, this is unrelated, but you really need to check out the costumes for this show. It’s to die for!
Anyway, this song is the first duet of Ella and Prince Topher. The music is soaring; the lyrics are romantic; and the choreography is memorable. This song is absolutely marvelous and perfectly encapsulates the feeling of falling in love at first sight (one of my favorite musical theatre tropes). Also, you need to check out the Tony Awards performance of this song!
Most memorable lyrics: In the arms of my love I’m flying / Over mountain and meadow and glen
4. Take Me As I Am - Jekyll & Hyde
Tumblr media
Unlike most of the songs in this list, I haven’t delved into this musical as much as I want to. Nevertheless, I fell in love with this gorgeous song. I have a weakness for sopranos, so of course, this song caught my attention. Christiane Noll, who played Emma in the OBC recording, sounded so, so heavenly.
Through this song, I got to know Emma and Jekyll’s love for each other. They’re professing their love for each other, promising that they would be on each other’s side no matter what happens. It’s a song that teaches us acceptance and love really go together. Truly one of my favorite romantic song ever.
Most memorable lyrics: And when despair / Tears me in two / Who can I turn to but you?
5. I’ll Cover You - Rent
Tumblr media
This particular song is more carefree and upbeat compared to most of the songs in this list. But that doesn’t make it any less romantic. This song sung by my favorite couple in Rent is the absolute best. When all the other couples are fighting, Angel and Collins just continued loving each other and enjoying the little time they have. They are so sweet, and I totally love their relationship. And this song is a huge testament why.
It’s a song that tells the audience that Angel and Collins just love being together and that they truly love one another. They were together through thick and thin, through Angel’s sickness until the very end. They weren’t kidding when they sang “I’ll be there and I’ll cover you.” And yes, the reprise version of this song is the definition of pain and sadness.
Most memorable lyrics: But sweet kisses I’ve got to spare / I’ll be there and I’ll cover you
6. As Long As You’re Mine - Wicked
Tumblr media
Whenever I listen to this song, I always describe it as “sensual and intimate.” This song may not be promiscuous or anything like that, but it’s so passionate and sexy in an innocent way. It’s a beautiful love song, and when performed right, truly make me fall in love. The lyrics are perfect for what Elphaba and Fiyero are going through, and the music is beyond catchy.
When they do release the movie version of Wicked — which is probably never at this point — I hope they cast actors who have amazing, off the roof chemistry. This song is one of my favorites, and I would love to see it done well on the big screen. Elphaba’s cheeky last line “For the first time, I feel... wicked” is probably my favorite line in the show.
Most memorable lyrics: Borrow the moonlight / Until it is through / And know I’ll be here / Holding you / As long as you’re mine
7. Only Us - Dear Evan Hansen
Tumblr media
One of the purest romantic songs ever. Though Evan may not be your ideal perfect guy, you can’t deny that this song is plain sweet. This duet between Evan and Zoe is cute and relatable — anyone who fell in love before can identify with the lyrics. And even though you’re not a fan of musical theatre, I’m pretty sure you’re still going to like this fan favorite.
This song is one of my favorite song in “new” musicals. It’s sung by teenagers in the show, but the lyrics and music are perfect to attract younger audiences. It’s a good song to sing along to, and probably a good dedication song for your significant other.
Most memorable lyrics: You and me / That’s all that we need it to be / And the rest of the world falls away
8. Seven Wonders - Catch Me If You Can
Tumblr media
The first time I listened to the musical, I was in high school. I didn’t know it was based on a movie. I didn’t know who Frank Abagnale even is! The reason why I even cared about this musical is because of Aaron Tveit, which made me listen to the cast recording, then watch the movie (which is really good). I fell in love with this song the first moment I listened to it. It’s catchy and pure and beautiful.
The duet is sung by Frank and Brenda in the musical. The lyrics (and Aaron Tveit) are probably the highlights of the song for me. It’s hilarious and, at the same time, really sweet. Imagine having a guy you like say that you couldn’t compare to all the beautiful places in the world because you’re perfect! And then imagine Aaron Tveit singing that to you. But seriously speaking, this song is goshdarn cute and romantic.
Most memorable lyrics: I’ve been a lot of places / Yes, I’ve traveled near and far / But now I know that home is where you are
9. Happiness - Passion
Tumblr media
This is the first song of the musical, and from there, I’m already in love. Giorgio and Clara’s song is simply enchanting. It tells the story of two people just being happy in each other’s arms. We don’t know who they are — as the musical only started — but we just know that they’re completely in love with each other, satisfied and contented.
Indeed, this is one of my favorite love songs ever. It’s warm, delightful, and deeply sensual. Giorgio and Clara’s love story may not be perfect (as we realize later on the show), but this song is perfect for their relationship in the beginning.
Most memorable lyrics: Some say happiness / Comes and goes / Then this happiness / Is a kind of happiness / No one really knows
10. Say It Somehow - The Light in the Piazza
Tumblr media
This musical has one of the best scores ever. It’s astonishingly pleasant to the ears. This particular song, on the other hand, is one of the best love songs I’ve ever heard. In this song, this is when Fabrizio (spoiler alert?) professes his love and proposes to Clara (a different one from the previously mentioned musical).
Who does not want a declaration of love with a song like this? It’s everyone’s dream — or rather, my dream. It’s a gorgeous song with flawless music and lyrics. And I know you’re getting tired of hearing it but yes, this is one of my favorite songs.
Most memorable lyrics: Say it somehow / Anyway you can / You know me / You are good
11. Something to Believe In - Newsies
Tumblr media
The first few notes of this song is already set to make me fall in love, and it succeeds. This love song is amazing and fun to sing along to. It’s catchy (especially the chorus) and above all, romantic. Jack and Katherine are not only friends, but they also know how to work together and that’s important in any relationship.
Needless to say, this song is the perfect for the both of them. Jack and Katherine truly believed in each other. They’re one of my favorite couples in musicals, so I’m pretty happy that they got a really good song. It’s also one of those songs that you can play for your friends who don’t often listen to musicals.
Most memorable lyrics: And if I’m gone tomorrow / What was ours still will be / I have something to believe in / Now that I know you believed in me
12. One Second and a Million Miles - The Bridges of Madison County
Tumblr media
Honestly, I’m not sure if this is an “actual” love song, but what the hell, I love this song and I’m making the list so I’m going to include it. The entire musical is heartbreaking, but oh-so romantic and beautiful. The songs are exquisite and gorgeous, especially this big song in the second act wherein Robert tells Francesca to leave everything and run away with him.
It’s a song of reassurance, that whatever the risks they’re going to take, it’s enough because they love one another and they’re going to be there for each other. It’s an incredible song and no matter how many times I listen to the cast recording, Kelli O’Hara and Steven Pasquale’s vocals give me chills every time.
Most memorable lyrics: And you and I are just one second / Spinning by in just one second / You and I have just one second / And a million miles to go
13. All I Ask of You - The Phantom of the Opera
Tumblr media
My. Favorite. Duet. Of. All. Time. I mean, I think most of my followers here are from the “Phandom” so you just know that I have to include a song from this musical. This song is the absolute best, which of course, truly made me believe in love again. It’s beautiful. Raoul and Christine’s relationship is the best, as the both of them love each other very much.
In this song, Raoul promises Christine to be there for her all the time no matter what. He promises his love for her and more. It’s a wonderful and romantic song that has been covered endless times by popular artists outside musical theatre (my favorite would’ve been Josh Groban and Kelly Clarkson’s version). And I swear, if I ever get married in the future, this will be the song that I would play on my first dance with my husband.
Most memorable lyrics: Say you’ll share with me one love, one lifetime / Say the word and I will follow you / Share each day with me, each night, each morning / Say you love me / You know I do
14. All I’ve Ever Known - Hadestown
Tumblr media
Anaïs Mitchell originally wanted this to be a solo for Eurydice, but I thank the gods everyday that she turned it into a duet. It’s my favorite song in the musical, and it’s absolutely wonderful. For a really long time, Eurydice was on her own and very independent. She didn’t trust anyone. But now, she was ready to open up and love Orpheus with all her heart.
Furthermore, the choreography in this song is absolutely amazing. It showed the intimacy of Eurydice and Orpheus’ relationship through their dance. It went perfectly well along with the song as well! I love this song very much, and it’s on repeat.
Most memorable lyrics: All I know is you’re someone I have always known / And I don’t even know you / Now I wanna hold you, hold you close / I don’t wanna ever have to let you go
15. I Have Dreamed - The King and I
Tumblr media
Tuptim and Lun Tha are only supporting characters in their musical, but their songs are my absolute favorites. This and “We Kiss in a Shadow” are two of my favorite songs in the musical. Their songs, especially this one in particular, left a long-lasting impression to me. Even though I’m not in love, this song makes me feel like I am.
My first version of this song is Lea Salonga and Peabo Bryon’s version (which you should really check out if you haven’t!) Their rendition of this song is super good — it’s like you’ve died and gone to heaven. The lyrics are amazing and perfectly written. To top it all of, this song is very romantic, and I love it so much.
Most memorable lyrics: In these dreams, I’ve loved you so / That by now I think, I know / What it’s like to be loved by you / I will love being loved by you

And that brings us to the end of this list. These 15 songs truly made me believe in love again, and I suggest you give them a listen! Who knows, maybe you’d like them as well.

𝘗𝘈𝘙𝘈𝘓𝘓𝘌𝘓𝘚  𝘖𝘍  𝘕𝘌𝘚𝘚𝘈𝘙𝘖𝘚𝘌  𝘈𝘕𝘋  𝘎𝘈𝘓𝘐𝘕𝘋𝘈
𝘐𝘕𝘛𝘙𝘖𝘋𝘜𝘊𝘛𝘐𝘖𝘕
an overlooked theme in wicked is that people are more alike than they seem, but different conditions, paths of life, and decisions can falter these comparisons. an example that viewers often fail to notice is that between galinda upland and nessarose thropp. though the two girls barely interact with one another, their stories and characterization have many parallels and similarities to one another. this essay will recognize and use any form of the musical wicked, which means that any draft of the show ( the current production, the out of town tryout that took place in san francisco, the 2001 workshop, and anything in between ) is fair game. below the cut is a meta, addressing the similarities ( and even a few differences ) between these two characters
𝘚𝘏𝘈𝘙𝘌𝘋 𝘛𝘙𝘈𝘐𝘛𝘚
𝘚𝘌𝘓𝘍𝘐𝘚𝘏𝘕𝘌𝘚𝘚      the first way in which these two characters are similar to one another is that they have the same inherent traits. one example of this is that both galinda and nessa are both very selfish characters. they will change their opinions on a situation and which “side” they are on in an instant when it becomes convenient for them. for galinda, this can be seen when she suddenly feels guilty about all she’s done to elphaba at the ozdust ballroom. this guilt only comes about after madame morrible has informed her that she will be included into the sorcery seminar ( which elphaba had gotten her into ) . thus, she quickly changes her hateful opinions on her roommate because something nice was done for her.      in the case of nessarose, it is when she suddenly changes her opinion on galinda after she persuades boq into asking her to go to the ozdust ballroom with her. she likely had been previously joining in on elphaba’s dislike of galinda, but suddenly turns on her after galinda has done something nice for her and even berates her sister for having been rude before.       additionally, they both seem to only make decisions with themselves in mind. glinda throws a surprise engagement party, withholding the information about it even from fiyero ( who is unaware of the wizard / morrible’s plan for them to be married ) . this is done in her own self interest and to further her own narrative and reputation, and it seems as though she hardly thinks about how fiyero may feel about it. in a similar fashion, to improve her status among ozians, she does nothing to find elphaba or support her, even with fiyero constantly urging her to do so. even when called out about it ( “no, you can’t leave because you can’t resist this.” -fiyero ) , glinda agrees that the reasoning behind her reluctance to clear elphaba’s name or, at the very least, stop the spread of more rumors is because she is finally living the life that she wants to. lastly, when glinda becomes jealous and hurt that elphaba and fiyero have been seeing each other behind her back, she gives information to the wizard / morrible about how to coax her out of hiding ( by using nessa as bait, thus resulting in her death ) .      nessarose does similar things, making decisions with only herself in mind. in general, her decisions during her regime of munchkinland are incredibly selfish. she passes laws that purposely take rights away from the people and forbid them all to leave just to keep boq from leaving her. then, when elphaba shows up and asks for nessa and her father’s help in clearing her name, nessa immediately turns her down because it will further ruin her own dwindling reputation. most noteworthy is when she casts a spell on boq in order for him to fall in love with her, despite having no experience in sorcery and being warned that by pronouncing the words wrong she would likely do damage. she doesn’t listen, however, and is only focused on her own emotions which almost results in boq’s death.
𝘝𝘈𝘕𝘐𝘛𝘠      another trait that galinda and nessarose share is that they both tend to be very vain. they both also openly express this vanity and it becomes very clear that they think very highly of themselves. glinda’s very first line in the show is “it’s good see me, isn’t it?” and while it is played for humor, it isn’t exactly an out of character thing for her to say. she seeks out the admiration of her followers and does not shy away from the attention and praise that she is given by them. similarly, when she arrives at shiz, it is announced that she has a private suite but she assures others that they’ll be allowed to come and visit her whenever they want. the entire number “popular” is a great showcase of how vain galinda truly is, and how openly she is willing to show this about herself, but a line that illustrates it most is when she sings “they were popular. please, it’s all about popular. it’s not about aptitude, it’s the way you’re viewed so it’s very shrewd to be very, very popular like me”. this line proves her vain tendencies because she compares the “best” level of popularity to herself and that demonstrates her high opinion of herself.      nessarose is quite vain as well, even if not as open about it as galinda is. she does, however, still openly express it at times throughout the show. nessa is very much aware that she is pretty, and enjoys having things that are beautiful. constantly, she is portrayed as being more worthy of a daughter than elphaba ( the jeweled shoes, the position as the future governor, etc. ) and this is most definitely believed by her as well, even if she won’t admit it. to a certain extent, nessa does believe that perhaps she deserves some of these things more than her sister does.      additionally, they both have high opinions of themselves in their new roles in ozian society. glinda has become a sort of publicity girl for the wizard, destined to spread goodness in the midst of elphaba’s “terror”. while she does do good, in the perspective of the ozian audience, the actual audience of the show can see that glinda isn’t doing much except ignoring the tension between her and elphaba as well as not addressing her own betrayal to her friends. there is an exchange between the two girls, where glinda says that she is a public figure who has a duty ( which elphaba suggests is to lie ) . glinda gets upset and insists that her job is “to be encouraging”. the outside perspective ( the actual audience in the theatre ) can see that this is a twisted version of what is truly happening, which is caused by glinda’s vain attitude toward abilities.      nessarose has this same phenomenon happen, in which she cannot see how her regime over munchkinland is bad because of how she is blinded by her own vain views. again, the audience is made very aware of this superiority that she feels despite her actual skills not being very great. watching the show, it is very clear that she is not fit for the job and, like glinda, she makes a remark that the audience perceives as funny but it also proves that she is so caught up in herself that she doesn’t see how she can be in the wrong. she says the line “i can’t harbor a fugitive, i’m an unelected official!” and to the audience, it is very clear that the act of being unelected invalidates her status as it’s clear that the munchkins do not want her to be their governor. nessa, however, turns a blind eye and doesn’t see this as a negative thing in the slightest.      with this vanity, however, comes the struggle for the constant need to be seen as perfect by those around them. galinda is instantly regarded ( by most ) as being this model of a person, and many tend to idolize her due to her sheer confidence and appearance. this, of course, leads to her believing this and seeking this attention and praise. the other students follow exactly what she does ( for example, publicly hating on and bullying elphaba for being her roommate ) and only further her belief that she is deserving of this. galinda’s struggle with the need to be perfect comes about when the things that usually come naturally to her have to be worked for, thus shattering that outside image of being “perfect”. when she isn’t accepted into madame morrible’s sorcery seminar, she struggles to understand why. what makes it worse is when morrible points out that galinda is nothing special and isn’t worth her teaching time to even have the seminar that semester. additionally, when fiyero begins to lose interest and become less “perfect” to her she says that it “must be what other people feel like”, thus regarding herself as not being perfect and being very upset over it.      in the same fashion, nessa knows that she is seen as being very pretty by most of the world but still struggles with the idea of having to be absolutely perfect. unlike galinda, she is greeted with unease by her peers due to the way that elphaba has been introduced to them as an overbearing and protective older sister who will stop at nothing to protect nessa. she still though, because of this, struggles with the need to be perfect. nessarose has an understanding that, without elphaba, she would likely be more accepted into better social circles. an example of this is when elphaba shows up to the party at the ozdust ballroom and causes a scene, which embarrasses nessa. her sister is, to her, ruining her one night of happiness and destroying the image of what a “perfect” life would be. another way in which she struggles with perfection is her idea that boq sees her as being less-than-perfect and that it is the reasoning behind why he doesn’t love her back. she says the line “no, it’s me that’s not right” in response to galinda’s suggestion that boq may not be the one for her. her views on their relationship are clouded by what she’s been taught to believe is “perfection” by those around her. she also says the line “anybody who’s as perfect as you deserves a girl who’s right in every way. now behold, finally i’m perfect too” when speaking to boq and expects that to fix their relationship ( which is obviously ruined by her less-than-stellar governing skills ) . this line sums up her struggle with perfection and how she constantly compares herself to others. it is important to note as well that boq, to nessa, isn’t necessarily the perfect match for her since he’s only a common munchkinlander and she is the governor of munchkinland. yet, she sees him as being perfect and wants to be “perfect” for him as well.
𝘈  𝘚𝘛𝘙𝘖𝘕𝘎  𝘋𝘌𝘚𝘐𝘙𝘌  𝘛𝘖  𝘉𝘌  𝘓𝘐𝘒𝘌𝘋      while this may fit in with the last point, it is still necessary to bring up how both galinda and nessa have that feeling that they need to belong and fit in with the rest of their peers. for galinda, this can be seen clearly throughout the song “popular”, in which she explains to elphaba how being liked and viewed as someone amazing will get you further in life than anything else. galinda is a generally likable person, with her bubbly and almost charming personality and though nessarose isn’t as warm or welcoming, she still has that same internal drive that galinda has. she too wants to be a part of the best social circle that the school has to offer, to be invited to dances and go on dates, and to be liked by her peers. it is much harder for her to make friends and be generally regarded as well-liked by the school and society as a whole, but the two of them still share this trait.
𝘗𝘖𝘞𝘌𝘙  𝘏𝘜𝘕𝘎𝘙𝘠      their similarities start out right from the beginning for this trait, seeing as both of them grew up in a home where even as a child they were given a lot of power. presumably, both girls grew up getting everything that they both needed and wanted, which is partially why they both ended up struggling with overusing their power in the future. glinda loses sight of who she truly is while in a position of power and hides behind a façade of benevolence rather than staying loyal to her old life and group of friends. with the newfound power that she has working for the wizard, she drops all old priorities ( including her friendship with elphaba ) for her new ones. glinda doesn’t help elphaba in clearing her name because she enjoys the power that her position gives her. additionally, she uses her power to keep fiyero in a relationship with her and forces a wedding upon him. due to the ozians all seeing her as “good” and the way that her life is being used as a distraction, fiyero is practically obligated to agree to marriage.      nessarose’s situation with being power hungry is undeniably on a much more drastic scale, but alas they still do share the trait that led them to do such things. as the governor, she overuses her power and begins to pass inconsistent and radical laws that begin to take rights away from the munchkins in order to keep one, boq, in a relationship with her by forbidding him to leave. this is an obvious abuse of power, seeing as it seems that she passes them often as a way to perhaps cover up loopholes that boq may have found to get himself out of there. she has obviously let the position get to her head and is overstepping what she should be allowed to do.

when stripped down of any specific events, the two girls have a very similar path within the story of wicked. they fall in love, gain power, use their power to keep the one they love with them ( among other misuses ) , end up being left alone, and have an unhappy ending. galinda falls in love with fiyero and determines in act i that they are going to be married ( even without him knowing ) . while it is played for humor, the audience soon finds out that it wasn’t much of a joke as, after glinda gains power working for the wizard, she does force a wedding onto him. fiyero, however, ends up leaving glinda for elphaba even though she had done her best to keep him by her side. she ends up being alone in the end, with everyone she had known and been friends with now dead, gone, or irreversibly changed.      similarly, nessarose falls in love with boq while at the ozdust ballroom after he calls her beautiful and she believes that he has genuinely asked her out because he is interested in her. it is mentioned in act i that boq “can’t do this anymore” in regards to their relationship, but the audience is soon informed that once nessa took her father’s position as governor she has forced boq to stay by her side. boq eventually does end up leaving, after being transformed into a man made of tin, nessa is left alone, and dies a tragic death.br>     nessarose and glinda are two sides of the same spectrum, with glinda gaining and consolidating her power with love and adoration and nessa doing the same but with fear. glinda forces fiyero to stay by her side by making it into a moral obligation for him. her life, happiness, and personal business ( such as a wedding ) has become a positive distraction for the citizens of oz. if fiyero were to deny a wedding, the hope of the people would be crushed. while they had a common enemy ( elphaba ) , they also all had something to look forward to ( events regarding glinda ) . nessarose, on the other hand, legally makes it so that boq cannot leave her if he doesn’t want to face consequences. she instills fear in the munchkinland with her tyrannical ways of governing and iron fist.      another important part of their stories is that both girls betray elphaba. it often is overlooked as to how glinda betrays elphaba, but this is because it isn’t branded as being as much of a part of her story as it is for nessa. glinda has other parts of her future focused on, whereas a huge focus on nessarose’s story is based on this betrayal of her sister. they do both, however, refuse to help elphaba. glinda did not make a single effort to try and clear the rumors that were going around about her friend and rather focused on herself and taking the position in the wizard’s circle. nessarose ( though she didn’t know the truth ) also refused to help her sister when asked. they had always stuck together and nessa always took what elphaba said to be a fact. the betrayal doesn’t necessarily come when she refuses to help her, but rather when she tells elphaba to “shut up” and refuses to even listen to what she has to say about the Animals.      there is a line in the show that goes, “the wicked die alone”. while the ensemble is singing it in reference to elphaba, there is irony behind the fact that we learn she does not die alone and rather leaves oz with fiyero. glinda and nessa, however, do die alone.

both galinda and nessa are characterized by their romantic interactions with other people. while this isn’t all that they are attributed with, it is one of the main things that people tend to associate with the both of them once the show is over. this is because both of their stories are tragic and, while not explicitly love stories, have that aspect in them for sure. the similarity between their stories here can lead to them sharing symbolism such as hearts ( broken or unbroken ) and both being able to relate to musings and other things as they would be able to represent them both.      additionally, they both can be represented by the color pink. the color pink symbolizes love for oneself and others and is considered to be the “sweet side of red”. as mentioned before, galinda and nessa both have an obvious love for themselves and their stories heavily involve love for others as well. both girls also wear pink when going to the ozdust ballroom ( though galinda originally wore blue ) and nessa later is associated with the color red ( which is just a dark pink ) .

𝘍𝘙𝘐𝘌𝘕𝘋𝘚𝘏𝘐𝘗
a question then begs to be answered: why weren’t galinda and nessa friends from the very start, seeing as they have this much in common? it is more than just the fact that they have things in common, truly. the two of them actually would have made fine friends and even a casual companionship between them would have made a lot of sense. nessarose is from a high class family, which would have been very appealing to galinda who, while rich, would likely want to expand her connections. likewise, nessa would be intrigued by galinda because of her popularity and would want to be a part of her social circle.      what sets them apart, however, is their clear distinctions from one another in the eyes of others. it is obvious to all at shiz that they are from different regions of oz ( and it is assumed that the gillikin is considered to be better than rural munchkinland ) . these different places have very different cultures. one of the most noticeable is language. galinda ( and others that are from the gillikin / shiz such as madame morrible ) use a lot of slang, also known as the words that sound “ozian” to an audience ( words such as “disgusticified”, “outnuendo”, etc. ). elphaba, who is from munchkinland, doesn’t say any words like this ( and it’s important to note that elphaba used to say things like “ignorify” [from the out of town tryout] but any lines like that were cut ) . there is a good reason behind this, and that is to illustrate how the different regions in oz speak. nessarose, however, does use words such as “horrendible” and “encouragerize” throughout the show, but likely as a way to appear as if she is from the gillikin and to fit in with the other high society girls who are.      another reason as to why they may not have immediately become friends is because of how obvious it would have been for people to see that galinda was hanging around someone from munchkinland. boq, who is a munchkin, is referred to as being “common” and nothing special. he doesn’t even have a last name, which leads one to believe that munchkinland is simply a very mediocre place to live. while nessarose is different due to her father’s status, it makes sense as to why galinda chooses to hang around pfannee and shenshen instead.      then, of course, there is elphaba who is the outcast of the school which causes nessarose, by extension, to also be seen as something negative. this is also a factor that stunts their friendship from budding, seeing as galinda and elphaba are considered to be rivals and the two girls are on separate teams ( galinda rooting for herself and nessa for elphaba ) .      later, it is assumed that they do become friends in the show. nessarose is invited to glinda’s engagement party far after they’ve left school, which proves that their friendship has lasted, even if it isn’t the most genuine. not to mention that it would only make sense for the two of them to have some sort of bond after both losing elphaba.
Tumblr media
𝘊𝘖𝘕𝘊𝘓𝘜𝘚𝘐𝘖𝘕
in conclusion, there are many similarities between galinda upland and nessarose thropp that are, for the vast majority, ignored by the audiences of wicked. when compared and contrasted, it becomes clear that the two girls have more in common and that, if given similar circumstances, they would have likely thrived together.

Wicked Tom...
Tumblr media
Author: @sabine-leo
Pairing: Tom x female Reader  (Loki / Elphaba)
Wordcount: 3094
Genre: Fluff (teeny tiny bit of hurt feelings)
Note: I finally found the time to write the 3rd wish for my 1k follower raffle. @adefectivedetective asked for this :  “ Tom was watching Wicked on the West End and reader plays Elphaba and he really enjoyed it so he goes and talks to her at the end”
I do hope you like it and can excuse the wait!!
Comments and reblogs are very much appreciated and LOVED!!
Once he had answered a question in an interview.
“What's my guilty pleasure? The thing is, I never feel guilty about pleasures.”
Well, sitting here for the second time this day made him feel a little guilty. But after being literally dragged into the theatre from Emma and Sarah to see the matinée he had found himself totally bewitched and in awe of the voices that had made him feel every single emotion there was. Using the side entrance only shortly before the show began, he felt a little wicked himself as his skin tingled in anticipation of a voice that had touched his heart and lit his soul on fire just this afternoon.
Emma had started to tease him on their way out of the theatre. “You actually did enjoy it, just give in and say it. Sarah and myself have been right. At least this time!” Tom had chuckled “Yes, I must say that it was rather good! You have been correct. It is not above me to admit that I should have come here sooner. Thank you for dragging my sorry British butt along.” His sisters had laughed and said their goodbyes as the three siblings parted ways.
Now, Tom leaned back in his seat and waited for the music to start.
Not half way into the show and he was, again, totally captivated by the story acted and sung before him. One voice in particular made the hairs on his arms rise, in a good way.
Blithe smile, lithe limb She who's winsome, she wins him Gold hair with a gentle curl That's the girl he chose And heaven knows I'm not that girl
Tom gulped a little as he heard her sing those lines. He felt the heartbreak, the longing in her voice. Having felt his heart break in his life himself, he knew from where the actress drew the emotions into her voice. He felt the urge to leap onto stage and hug her close, to tell her that someone out there would be worth to open her heart for again.
 Don't wish don't start
Wishing only wounds the heart
I wasn't born for the rose and pearl There's a girl I know He loves her so I'm not that girl
With a sinking head and closed eyes Elphaba ended the song and the theatre lay in darkness for a second as applause erupted. Tom closed his eyes while he clapped his hands together, that voice really did a number on him. So gentle, so full of emotions yet so damn powerful that even the almost silent notes hit his ears like a thunderstorm. Some minutes later he – again - was amazed that this soft voice could blast out the probably most known song of the musical with such intensity. Defying gravity truly was a powerful song and Tom grinned as Elphaba was lifted up.
So if you care to find me Look to the western sky! As someone told me lately "Everyone deserves the chance to fly!"
That song sealed his fate. He needed to go backstage after the show and meet the woman with such a powerful voice. He, too wanted his chance to fly again, to defy gravity and leap into an unknown adventure…and maybe lose his heart in the process. Only to hopefully gain one in return.
And that was what he did. Straightening his jacket as he approached the part of the Theatre where the actors would be after the show ended, he got greeted with a smile.
“Oh! Mr. Hiddleston!”
He had been under the radar the whole day but it did not faze him that he got recognized almost immediately. “Good evening.” Tom smiled politely.
“Would it be too much to ask if I could congratulate the actors on their performance…personally?”
“No, no no no, of course not. They would be delighted! As would I! Follow me.”
Tom thanked the man with a nod and followed him through the small corridors.
A door opened and Glinda stopped short at seeing him. “Oh my!” She said and pressed her hand against her chest. Tom chuckled. What a Glinda move, he thought.
“Hey, so nice to meet you!” He held out his hand and complimented her on the show but his eyes kept searching for her stage sister.
“A picture! Please let me take a picture. The both of you look so good together! Glinda and Tom, what a pair!” The man laughed and snapped away as Tom politely took Glinda sideways into his arm and smiled. That picture would likely hit the press, but Tom did not care what they would write about it. His intentions were not set on Glinda, though she was beautiful…but there was a voice he needed to put into context with a face. A voice that had touched a part inside of him he had thought lost after his last heartbreak. The man took another two pictures as Glinda lifted one foot and smiled very Glinda like with a girly expression on her face.
At this exact moment you came out of your dressing room.
Still more than a little green around the nose and eyes, rubbing your face with a wet cloth.
“Dammit, is this another brand of body paint? It´s not yielding voluntarily!”
“Uhm…(Y/N) ?!” The actress playing Glinda said with a little chuckle and let go of Tom.
“What is it? I would hate to have to ride the tube still green. One half of the people would know who I am and the other half would look at me funny!”
“(Y/N)! We are in London after all. I really don´t think someone would even give you a second glance.” Glinda said a little louder before Tom stepped in and softly took the cloth down from your face with his big hands.
“Hey there, I´d hate for you to scratch your beautiful face in order to get the colour down.” He smiled and you could just look upwards with a stunned expression after you recognised who held your hand and the wet, slightly green cloth in his hand.
“I do think green looks rather good on you.” He grinned. “I would absolutely give you a second glance…But then again, I always had a thing for black and green anyways!”
You started to chuckle. “So that was the appeal to play Loki!?” Your witty comment made Tom laugh out loud. “Amongst one of the reasons, yes!” he slowly let go of your hand but held onto the cloth.
“It´s nice to finally see you up close after your voice knocked me over more than one time from afar!” Tom held out his free hand and smiled. “I´m Tom by the way…” You smiled and took his hand into your green one. “Nice to meet you Tom, I am (Y/N).”
Glinda rolled her eyes but grinned. “First Fiyero and now Tom Hiddleston. Excuse me while I go dip myself into green paint to get a bit of attention around here!”
Tom and you chuckled and watched her walk into her dressing room.
Suddenly aware that he still was holding your hand Tom let go and messed up his hair instead.
“Uhm, so…I really am in awe of what you did on stage. Your voice is phenomenal!”
“Oh boy, I am glad that green counters red, otherwise you´d see me blush!”
Tom laughed a deep rumble of a laugh and looked at you intensely.
“You are correct, I can´t make out any blush under that layer of green!”
He jabbed his hands into his pockets and teetered on his feet as if unsure how do proceed but then he tilted his head and said. “How about you accompany me for a drink or a dinner without the green paint covering you up. Then we would be on an even playing field regarding the blush department!” Tom grinned, happy with himself.
“Are you telling me you do blush too?” You asked still feeling a little wicked thanks to your role. “Only one way to find out!” Tom smiled and bit his lip.
“I suppose that is true.” You nod and smile. “If you have the time to wait until I get this paint off me, I gladly say yes to your offer. But let me warn you, it may take me up to an hour…”
Tom grinned. “Oh, no worries, I don´t have anything else planned for the night. How about you get rid of the wicked colour and we meet at John´s in about 1 ½ hours?”
“I´ll be there…” You said with a smile and turned to walk into your dressing room to jump into the shower. “See you in a bit…” Tom said and waved as he proceeded to talk to a few more actors coming out of their rooms slowly but steady with a smile on his face.
There, he had taken that leap…
The evening, the night turned out to be a fun and short-lived time. Tom and you connected on different levels and the conversations flowed easily from one topic to another. He was very intelligent, funny and a gentleman from head to toe. Walking you home because it was his so-called duty even if you were the wicked witch of the west turned into a rather slow and much longer walk that ended with a hug and an exchange of numbers before your flat. Over the course of the next weeks Tom and you got to know each other better and texted or talked to each other constantly if time allowed it. Both your schedules being all over the place made it not that easy but Tom took the time to walk you home at least one day each week after you finished in the theatre.
“What are you up to in the next days?” Tom asked as you turned the last corner to get home.
“Tomorrow I do have 2 shows to play and the day after I am actually performing a song at James Cordon´s Late Late show… he is hosting in London this week.”
Tom looked at you with a big smile “Oh! Wow, that´s great! This is going to be fun. I know James, beware of his humour, he probably is going to get you to do something funny while singing!” You laughed out loud and shrugged. “He can try…Maybe I will make him dress up as Elphaba!”
Tom burst out laughing and held his belly.
“I need to make sure I am there for the taping if that is the case!”
Keying open your door you turn to look at Tom. “Do you..” you started and needed to clear your throat. “…do you want to come in for a drink?”
Toms face got all soft and he touched your shoulder. “I would love to, but I get an early start tomorrow…I am so sorry but I do have to get home...” You could not help the slight pang you felt as his words hit your system. He had tried to let you down easy but given that you had needed to summ up your courage to ask him for three days did not make it better at all. “Next time?” He asked softly and tried to get you to look into his eyes. “Yeah, sure. Get home safe, Tom! And sleep well!” You said and went inside without giving him the eye contact. You could not let him see the hurt you felt. You knew it was childish and not reasonable but you really could not help it at this moment.
“Sleep well (Y/N)…” Tom said . “I am really sorry…”
To hell with it, you looked into his eyes and mustered a smile. “Good Night Tom, thank you for walking me home!” Slowly you closed the door and bumped your head against it.
You had taken the leap and…had fallen.
Tom started to walk home. He had to get up in only 4 hours’ time but he hated himself for putting that look into your eyes. It reminded him of the song that had gotten him so emotional all those weeks ago as he had heard you singing it for the first time.
Don't wish don't start Wishing only wounds the heart I wasn't born for the rose and pearl There's a girl I know He loves her so I'm not that girl
He tried to shake of that feeling but he could not even come close to do it. If only you´d know that you were that girl. That you were born for the rose and pearl. That he wanted to be the one to give it to you. In the last weeks he had gotten to know you, deeply so. He had had the pleasure to hear you laugh with that beautiful voice of yours, knowing that he had been the one to cause you delight meant a lot to him. He wanted to hear you laugh again. He wanted to see you blush once more because he was a flirt when it came to you. He wanted, no, he needed to show you that he wanted, needed more than your friendship! Tom searched for his phone as he walked. He dialled a number after scrolling through his contacts.
“James? Hey, it´s Tom… sorry for calling so late, but I need to ask for a favour. I have an idea!”
 ---- 2 days later----
“Alright, I have got the text down and the costume fits as well. Thank you for being such a good sport and doing this!” James laughed and took your already green hand in a gesture of happiness.
“You will be an awesome Glinda!”
You said with a laugh and walked with him to the dressing rooms of his show.
As Tom had predicted James did not want you to just come in and sing, no. He had gotten himself a Glinda costume and was about to perform with you. Defying gravity would be the song the both of you would do in his show and you already had a fit of the giggles as you thought about him in a dress, with a curled blond wig. “Time to change! See you in a bit!” James called as the audience filled the seats and was warmed up by a stand-up comedian. “This will be an opening London will not forget so fast!” He called and grinned as he closed his door. You too went into your dressing room, got the final touches done and donned your black robe and wicked-hat.
30 minutes later you were standing behind the curtain covering up James´s stage as James himself walked up to you in full Glinda style. You clapped your hand above your mouth and hid a laugh.
“Ready to defy gravity…Sister?” He grinned and flipped his curls back with a swing of his hand.
“Ready when you are!” You grinned and closed your eyes to get into character.
The curtain dropped and Glinda-James grabbed your hand.
“Don´t be afraid!” He chirped. The audience erupted into laughs and applause. As they were able to hear you again you said.
“I´m not! It´s the wizard who should be afraid… of me!” You started to sing.
Something has changed within me Something is not the same I'm through with playing by the rules Of someone else's game Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep It's time to trust my instincts Close my eyes and leap!
James played his part well, a bit over the top but that had to be that way. The both of you sung together quite well and as you sang the final parts of the song high above the stage…
And nobody in all of Oz No wizard that there is or was Is ever gonna bring me down!
A green light flashed bright and more fog wafted low above the ground as you heard a dark chuckle that did not belong into the song. It went dark for a second. Another flash before the lights came on again.
“Well well well…the wicked witch of the west is finally about to meet a real wizard…a god even!”
You knew that voice before you could see who was speaking to you but as you looked down you nearly toppled over. Thank god that you were in a harness… Down below, next to Glinda stood Loki himself. Dressed in his full black and green leather attire. The audience was going wild!!!
“I am going to bring you down, literally!” Loki grinned mischievous and help up his hand.
The harness started to lower you back to the ground.  What on earth happened here?
Glinda- James fell onto her knees before Loki. “Oh my GOD!! Take me! I am a witch too! And a rather beautiful one I might add…less…green!” Glinda-James batted her eyes at Loki.
Loki chuckled but waved James off. “That is the problem…I do like green. And I do like her slightly wicked behaviour…” Your feet touched the ground and Loki went around you, his eyes never leaving yours before it got impossible and he stood right behind you. He got rid of the hooks that held you in the harness and stage whispered into your ear. “Come with me Elphaba, let me tempt you to be even more….wicked!”
The lights went out and your knees nearly gave up. Tom grabbed you by the waist and held you close to his chest. “Hello Darling!” He breathed into your ear with a chuckle and turned you to face him.
“You are going to pay for that stunt!” You said breathless but started to laugh and hugged the live out of him. The lights went back on mid hug and the hoots got louder and louder.
Tom, or better Loki leaned back a little and held out a hand. Glinda-James came in again and brought a single, deep red rose with a pearl attached to it that he handed Loki.
“Elphaba, (Y/N)…” Loki started. “You were born for the rose and pearl!”
He handed you the rose and smiled.
“You are that girl…to me!”
His hand touched your face and the smile he bestowed on you melted your heart completely.
The curtain came down and hid you from the audience. The microphones got shot down. It was as much privacy as you would get in a TV studio…
“Let´s have that drink…at my place later. And I promise to make you breakfast come morning…” Tom grinned wickedly and closed the distance to finally kiss you.
 At last…you were defying gravity!

I saw you ship Glelphie! (Glinda and Elphaba). So, 001 with Glelphie please!
your wish is my command!
when I started shipping it if I did i've liked wicked for a long time, but admittedly i only really started shipping gelphie relatively recently.
my thoughts i think they’re amazing together. the enemies to lovers trope is one that is near and dear to my heart, and i love it.
what makes me happy about them pretty much everything.
what makes me sad about them for good makes me cry every time. i'm also sad that they didn’t actually end up together.
things done in fanfic that annoys me i don’t read wicked fanfic. should i? probably not, since i’ve cried enough over little shop and sanders sides fics.
who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other i don’t see any really good ships with them. i know they both liked fiyero, but the relationships were poorly done and rushed.
my happily ever after for them i don’t know. i guess i just want them to be happy.
who is the big spoon/little spoon elphaba’s definitely the big spoon.
what is their favorite non-sexual activity for some reason, i think they like cooking together. i don’t know how i came to this conclusion but i’ll accept it.

So y’know how John Mulaney is right and we do all have an entire movie theatre in our heads?
This is kinda dumb guys, so don’t make fun of me. But here goes...
Okay so, I love Aida the Musical. I particularly love the end of it and if you’ve never listened to or seen it, without spoiling too much I’ll just say that reincarnation comes into play at the end.
Anyway, one day YEARS ago, inspired by Aida and after seeing 25 Lives by Tongari for the first time on tumblr, I had this sort of idle day dream about a series of musicals, starting with Aida, that aren’t at all connected in subject matter or style or tone, but there’s always two people who love each other more than anything. They can be actual lovers or siblings or best friends or a parent and child, whatever. In my head the way it was revealed that they were soulmates was through red and blue necklaces that start glowing at different points in different shows, sometimes right at the beginning of act 1, sometimes towards the end of the whole show and obviously there was sometimes misdirection on who was gonna be revealed to have the necklaces signifying them as the soulmates. Sometimes one of the soulmates has memories of their past lives, sometimes both do, sometimes neither do. But the necklaces are always there, they start to glow when the plot demands it and the characters in the shows can’t see them glowing, it’s just a visual queue for the audience. (Although I did play with the idea of the soulmates being able to see the glow if they have their memories back, but whatever, that’s another possible layer)
I settled on the idea of 8 musicals total to complete this imaginary series. And as the years went by I got the idea that around musical 4, similar lyrics and melodies and motifs could trigger flashbacks to previous lives in previous musicals. Eventually I started just seeing how I could incorporate existing musicals into this idea, because that was obviously the logical progression for this nonsense idea. And for that lyrics trigger a flashback thing, for example (Once on this Island) Papa Ge’s line “there were promises made in the darkness...” makes Ti Moune in this set up, remember her life as either Orpheus or Eurydice, the necklace glows, it could even stop for a second and you hear from offstage, “Whatever promises I made, I can't promise you fair sky above, Can't promise you kind road below.” Then Papa Ge continues after that little flashback like nothing happened.
So sometimes when I’m bored I’ll just be sitting there thinking... okay who in, oh I don’t know Wicked would this idea fit well? Hahaha you think it would be Fiyero and Elphaba but it’s actually Glinda and Elphaba because that makes way more sense with their emotional connection (Still ends kind of tragically though...) Once on This Island? Ti Moune and Daniel, duh (still tragic though, jeez and I guess I’ve settled on Ti Moune being Orpheus now) Hadestown? Orpheus and Eurydice! (Again duh and again tragic....) Heathers The Musical? I like the idea of one of the soulmates just being a shitty person in one story (Radames would totally end up as J.D. in a modern setting, don’t even lie) and their death can’t really be helped, so that’s a neat one. Okay happy, happy what’s happy ummmm.... A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder...? Wait that one kinda has an implied polyamorous ending, can you split a soul in two? Fuck it you can in my head! Les Mis? That’s so many people, who even? It should definitely be just like a random les amis couple, still tragic though. Actually, y’know what, I’ve decided it’s supposed to almost always end sort of tragically now, I do what I want IN MY HEAD.
So yeah... that’s my default musical related daydream. Feel free to reblog with yours so I don’t feel like a crazy person.
Also, if you like the general idea of this, I discovered the New Albion Series by Paul Shapera like, 3 years after I first thought this idea up and it’s pretty similar with the reincarnation across different musicals idea, just not the soulmates bit.
Btw, things got somehow weirder with this musical day dream idea after I listened to The New Albion Radio Hour. I was like, “yo, what if one of the soulmates realizes they’re a character in a musical and that their love is always doomed because they don’t have control of the story and they decided to fight the writer!? And one show ends with them jumping off the stage and exiting through the audience doors? And that actor is purposefully not in the curtain call, like, they’re the main character so they should be the last one at the end and the other actors are waiting for them like wtf, but they just don’t do a curtain call because their character exited the story!?!?!? And the next musical is about breaking their  soulmate out of the story without getting on the stage????” But that’s a whole other can of worms...

YEAH IT'S LIKE. I don't think any of the conflict with Fiyero was ever actually about Fiyero??? It was always the idea of him, what Fiyero represents, what Fiyero means to them??? And this is seen throughout as well, I think??? Fiyero is honestly like. The way they talk about him, it's almost like. "Well, a lot of us are taking things that don't belong to us, aren't we?" Blatantly shows how Fiyero isn't like. Glinda doesn't really see him as like. An equal tbh??? And like. The part where Elphaba says "he chose me" and then Glinda slaps her??? It's like. It wasn't about Fiyero!! It was about how Fiyero chose Elphaba, it was about how Fiyero had the agency to do so, and Elphaba wanted to be Glinda's choice!! And it's just. The way Elphaba says it, says that whole line, it's obvious how much she's hurting over the fact Glinda didn't choose her??? Like idk the whole thing just screams, "why didn't you choose me" tbh??? But yeah it's like. Idk, I feel like Fiyero just. Represents the actions they didn't take??? Like. Idk i think I just lost the thread but like. I feel like they both want Fiyero because of what he represents??? Like. Fiyero represents this idea of "everything I ever thought I wanted" but more so in a way where it's like. You think you want it because it looks appealing but if you actually understood it you would never want it??? Which is why Fiyero is like. A major frustration between them and he pretty much embodies their differences??? I don't think I'm saying it well but Fiyero quite literally represents everything they don't understand in each other???
yeah. yeah. yeah. for glinda to not come with her and then spend the next few years living this "perfect" comfortable life as glinda the good . is like. i feel like despite the fact that this is very much not what glinda wants, elphaba probably sees it like that. elphaba probably thinks that glinda is happy with her choice to be engaged to fiyero and have all this pressure on her and its like. shes not. but alas
so this leads to like. well whats the biggest representation of their divide? fiyero. so what does elphaba do to really rub it in that shes happy (without glinda)? insist that fiyero chose her and loves her. as a way to say "he did what you couldn't, are you happy now?". you know.
and i think all the arguing over fiyero really is just to avoid their actual problems. the years of seperation. the fact that both of them can tell that the other is Not happy but doesn't want to see it. it's just easier to accept their respective roles as hero and villain, to fight over something that they don't really truly care about.
