You know what? I really don’t think being pushed into theatre is a very good solution for someone who has a problem with feeling like he’s been pushed into everything his entire life.

Comes out April 16
Sophie and Jo, two aromantic and asexual students at Wellesley College, engage in an online feud while unknowingly becoming friends in real life, in this dual POV Young Adult contemporary debut from Ann Zhao. Sophie Chi is in her first year at Wellesley College (despite her parents' wishes that she attend a "real" university, rather than a liberal arts school) and has long accepted her aromantic and asexual identities. Despite knowing she'll never fall in love, she enjoys running an Instagram account that offers relationship advice to students at Wellesley. No one except her roommate knows that she's behind the incredibly popular "Dear Wendy" account. When Joanna "Jo" Ephron —also a first-year student at Wellesley— created their "Sincerely Wanda" account, it wasn't at all meant to be serious or take off like it does—not like Dear Wendy's. But now they might have a rivalry of sorts with Dear Wendy? Oops. As if Jo's not busy enough having existential crises over gender, the fact that she'll never truly be loved or be enough, or her few friends finding The One and forgetting her! While tensions are rising online, Sophie and Jo are getting closer in real life, bonding over their shared aroace identities. As their friendship develops and they work together to start a campus organization for other a-spec students, can their growing bond survive if they learn just who's behind the Wendy and Wanda accounts? With its exploration of a-spec identities, college life, and more, this platonic comedy, perfect for fans of Netflix's The Half of It and Alice Oseman's Loveless, is ultimately a love story about two people who are not—and will not—be in love!

Angel asteroid
Angel asteroid through the signs: You can search it on astro.com, extended chart selection, additional objects and add the number 11911. Angel asteroid is usually how your angels communicate with you and through which signs. Depending on the aspects in can symbolize sometimes that you have an “angel like energy”. For example, if angel conjunct Sun, the person may do good things to others out of pure love. If Angel Conjunct Moon the person may have a calming presence, and embody those qualities in their close relationships, they may practice a form of spirituality as well
Angel in Aries: Your angels are not subtitle in their communication with you. They are the ones that appear in your dreams or they may send someone that is very direct in their approach with you. They usually appear when you are doubting yourself and need a hard push in the right direction.
Angel in Taurus: Your angels will communicate with you through art and beauty, they are not so direct in their approach. They may send you messages through a song that you can’t get out of your head and have a meaning to you. Usually they will intervene when you feel like your life is a mess.
Angel in Gemini: They may speak to you through your teachers and professors. They encourage you to speak your truth and be vocal about your needs and wants. They will comfort you in times of need or will send just the right person to help you move through hardships of life.
Angel in Cancer: Your angels will talk to you through your intuition, they will signal you when something is not good. This may manifest in a physical way as well, for example you may get a horrible headache or you feel sick to your stomach in specific situations or around specific people. They are warning you in those moments.
Angel in Leo: They will intervene in your life when you are in identity crises or when someone wants to put your light down. They want you to shine and light all the rooms that you enter and they won’t allow someone else to belittle you. They are pretty loud in their expression.
Angel in Virgo: Your Angeles are helping you and are protective of you but from a distance. You won’t realize when they are present but they will give you subtitle hints, like you have an unsettling fear without a cause or your intuition is telling you that something is not right.
Angel in Libra: They want you to learn to trust yourself, they won’t communicate with you as often as other will. They will give you very subtle hints. They will encourage you from a distance to you trust yourself and be your own person.
Angel in Scorpio: You Angels will send you very cryptic messages, they won’t show up, sometimes you may even doubt that they are there, but you need to have faith in them. They are always protecting you and they will show you the real face someone has. Is like you meet this new person and you can see right through them.
Angel in Sagittarius: Your angels will send you this little riddles for you to solve. They want to teach you in understanding and seeing the bigger picture in life. They may help you and show up more to you when you are either traveling or through school exchange programs or school activities.
Angel in Capricorn: Your angels are a bit stricter and traditional. You may have met them when you were very young and thought they are your imaginary friend. They will intervene just when they have clear instructions that they have to. Is not that they don’t love you but they know you have to grow on your own.
Angel in Aquarius: Your angels may show up to you through angel numbers (repeat patterns as 11..., 22..., 33...). They may show up through your friend group as well and they will surprise you with different changes in your life so you may not get bored. Angel in
Pisces: Your angles are quite found of you; they will show you almost daily interaction in some sort of way. They care for you deeply and are very involved in your life. You’ll never feel alone; they will make sure to show their presence to you.

II — Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained
You've hardly moved from your spot in days - still sitting atop that mountain pillar where Morax had left you.
You spend much of your time either sleeping or pacing back and forth, staring at the yawning horizon before you. Although, you're not admitting any time soon to almost walking off the cliff edge once…or twice. The third time it happens, though—
"You should pay attention to where you walk." Morax catches your arm and yanks you back onto the mountain before you take a long fall into the waters at the root of the rocks. That'd hardly be pleasant to experience.
"Oh." You snap back into reality when he touches you - and suddenly feel sleepy. There's something about his presence that threatens to make you fall asleep on him. "My…apologies." You mutter, staring at the sparse grass under your bare feet.
"Do not be. All I ask for is you to be a little more careful." He shakes his head.
His hand continues to firmly grasp your bicep, his gloved hand emanating a comforting warmth deep into your skin. Your eyes begin to flutter shut as you sway side to side from the sudden onset of fatigue. Before you can collapse, he catches you and pulls you straight against his body.
"Careful now. Have you not been sleeping?" He inquires in a whisper.
You shrug against him before falling deeper into the beginnings of sleep. Your knees buckle soon after that and he's forced to pick you up before your head can kiss the ground. He sighs, wondering what could be going on with him that makes you fall asleep every time he comes by.
He rests you down on your makeshift bed, getting you as cozy and comfortable as he can. His eyes now laden with thoughts about how he can help you.
You wake up later that day after Morax has left once more. You stir uncomfortably in your rest before jerking upright on your bed. You release a sigh that's heavy and loud - almost thunderous. You can hardly sleep without him here sometimes. You're not sure why, but there's something very calming and serene about him.
You swiftly rise to your full height, dusting off your rather ragged clothing. You glance around - from the horizon to the lonesome tree on this mountain pillar. Your eyes spot a little flower attempting to grow in the shade of the thin tree. Curious - you walk over to the white blossom and crouch before it. Before you can touch it, you hear footsteps and the familiar cadence of Morax's voice calling out to you.
"Ah, you are awake. Good." Morax notes aloud, his keen golden eyes watching you stand and spin toward him. "No worries, it is only me."
"Oh." You sigh a little, stepping away from the flower beneath the tree.
"Here. I have some tea…and new attire. For you, that is." He meets up with you halfway across the small area. He's carrying a kettle of fresh tea and a bundle of clothes in each arm.
Your face falls.
"What is wrong? If they are not to your liking, then—"
"No, it's not that…" You glance away, a tiny sneer on your features. "I'm not sure why you're…so nice to me. Have I not caused innumerable amounts of deaths?"
"Hm." He hums, handing you the clothes anyway. He sits down next to your makeshift bed, pouring a cup of tea for you. "I have observed you for a long time now due to your proximity to Jueyun Karst." He admits cooly as if he's hardly bothered by his confession.
"…Oh." You mumble, now staring down at the fine silk clothes in your hands. "…Why didn't you kill me?" You blurt out, your throat tightening and your heart drying up.
"I have my reasons." He glances up at you, noting your furrowed brows and a deep frown. "First… Let's drink this tea." He gestures to you to sit with him with a curl of his forefinger. "I had a dear friend make it. It should help subdue your homicidal urges around others." He informs.
"Alchemy, then… With…tea." You sigh, shaking your head before relenting and sitting down across from him.
"Yes." He nods, a soft smile temporarily etching into his face. He wants to keep your trust - maybe even deepen it. He knows there's some way to rid you of this homicidal curse… What may it be? He's uncertain. But what he is certain of is that there's something about you that tells him that you weren't always like this.
You grumble something to yourself - indiscernible even to his keen hearing. You take the cup he offers and take a huge gulp from it. He internally grimaces at your rather indecorous way of handling the tea. He brushes off the minor offense - knowing that you can't even remember yesterday half of the time.
"By the way," He cuts into your thoughts, "I will be taking you to my companions soon - think of it as a behavioral test."
(What am I? A dog?) You think, but quickly conclude that you are as feral as an untamed animal, "…Alright. I'll, uhm, behave—"
"Ah, just be yourself," He says with your name rolling off his lips at the end, "Forcing yourself to behave may cause…unforeseen troubles in the future."
"Right…"
You then chug the rest of the tea and hand the cup back to him, some of the tea dribbling down your chin going unnoticed by you - but not him. He mentally sighs.

Assorted FrUK/FACE Fam Headcanons
These are silly little thoughts I've had while drafting Migraines in Margaritaville, so these apply to the world of that AU (modern, human; FrUK parents raising NA bros in Massachusetts, US). Most of these involve food because I seem to think about them when I'm hungry???
• Francis and Arthur practice "one-parent-one-language" with the boys. Matthew took to French much easier than Alfred did, but both brothers managed to pick it up without much of a fuss. In elementary school the twins would use French to cheat on tests (they weren't allowed to sit next to each other after their schemes were discovered).
• Arthur set the grill on fire three times in one summer. Francis clearly doesn't learn from his mistakes and Arthur is too stubborn to let Francis do all of the work when it comes to preparing dinner.
• Follow up on the point above -- Arthur can prep vegetables and throw together food that doesn't require too much measuring or too many steps on the stovetop. He doesn't have the patience for most dishes and doesn't have a sense of what spices go well together/what is enough vs too much. Francis lets him help by chopping up vegetables and Arthur was usually the one to pack the boys' lunches. Sometimes they'd get leftover portions of whatever they had for dinner last night, but Arthur often defaulted to some sort of wrap with deli meat and assorted veggies/crackers for snack.
• Francis gives me similar vibes to those youtube moms who try to make homemade versions of popular American snacks. He may spend the weekdays at work in a kitchen, but on the weekends he's at home, still in the kitchen, trying to make homemade fruit leather and homemade cheese crackers for his sons.
• Arthur's the one more willing to let the boys get snacks from the store or take out. Francis is very much "we have McDonald's at home."
• Both Francis and Arthur would've been so excited to decorate the twins' nursery. They're both artistically inclined, be it in different ways. Arthur made blankets for both of them; Matthew is red and Alfred is blue. Francis paints floral designs on the furniture, in particular purple irises and both red and white roses.
• Because the twins were identical and because babies are kinda just blobs, they definitely accidentally mixed the twins up. The color coding might've come after the swap. They had a crisis about it. Francis "sacre bleu, we just gave two people permanent identity crises" Bonnefoy and Arthur "if we compare them to every picture we have of them we can figure it out" Kirkland. I'm imagining this happening before the twins have enough hair for their cowlicks to really form.
• It's tradition in the Kirkland-Bonnefoy household to have a box of Whitman's chocolates at every family party and Alfred is the reason why. One Christmas each twin got to pick out something special for the party and Alfred picked out the 22 piece Whitman sampler in the yellow box. They're not the best chocolates, but it became a tradition. Thankfully there's two layers in the box so Mattie and Al can have their own messenger boy pieces (the shaped chocolate that's the centerpiece of each layer).
• Neither Arthur or Francis have favor for one twin over the other. They both have their own activities they can do with Alfred and Matthew separately. Francis will cook and bake with Alfred and draw with Matthew. Arthur teaches Matthew to garden and watches old (by his son's standards) movies with Alfred.
• Francis is the parent the boys can come to no questions asked. Arthur isn't apathetic, but Francis is more inclined to give more thoughtful advice for relationships and general fuck-ups. He won't press on why or how something happened, but will help his sons figure out the best way to solve a problem.
• When Alfred and Mattie turned 10, Arthur wanted to teach them the importance of personal finance. He would give the boys $5 each week to spend on snacks at the grocery store (Arthur does the couponing and the shopping for the house). They were allowed to hold onto the money to use for later and could help with the couponing.
• Arthur drags the family out to Salem every Autumn. Sure, they live in Massachusetts and are well aware of how bad tourist season is, but he's fascinated with the city. Alfred initially went because he really liked this one New York style pizza shop in the Witch City Mall (how they got Francis to step foot in there, I don't know), but eventually grew interested in the witchy stuff Salem has to offer. Francis only puts up with it because the city has an art museum and weekly art fairs in the Fall. Matthew dreads their yearly trip. He loathes it. He'd rather tag along with Francis to the museum.
• Until the boys were old enough to start protesting, they had family Halloween costumes. Francis thought it was tacky, but saw the appeal when Arthur got the twins (still babies) all dressed up in lobster costumes.

"#Batman resists his own insanity so it spreads to e v e r y t h i n g around him"
You can't just say this and not elaborate in great detail. PLEASE elaborate oh my God. I do agree but I want to hear every single thought you have about this topic.
Btw, I'm the same Anon who asked -- or not really asked but more so talked -- about Batman and Joker's soulmate sort of bond.
AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN WITH "COMBINING JOKER'S HEAD WITH BATMAN'S BODY"???????
I was thinking along the lines of the concept version and how they could never be satisfied like this, united in one body. What is the result of mixing chaos and order? What is the result of mixing the act of forgetting the past and fixating on it? What do you get through combining the ideology of making everything matter and taking all meaning away?
The result is that the pure concepts become stained and dull, pushed away from their original function, losing their purpose to oppose each other.
Becoming one entity is the act of becoming complete (concepts being stained) and losing the thing that made them them. Batman and Joker were never meant to unite in this way with overlapping voices, finishing each others thoughts and sentences and it SHOWS. I'm in love with their grotesque obsession with each other that borders on love and punishment. Their desire to win and conquer the other for good but never being able to because losing one side takes away the purpose of the other.
That's why I'm so, so, SO disappointed with how the Batman Who Laughs turned out. Where are my identity crises? Plural, because this could never be an one-and-done kind of deal. They became OneTM, inentionally or not, but BeforeTM, they were always wondering what it would be like. Batman could try to get closer to Joker's mental state but never fully experience it, same with Joker. But now they are OneTM and then what? Batman is just the Joker with Bruce's memories and face. I can't begin to describe how boring that is. That's like if DC made a "Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe" story only they used Joker instead of Deadpool.
Do you see my vision? Can you feel my pain? I wanted to psychoanalyse that asshole with my amateurish psychology knowledge but they only gave us a watered down Joker who makes other Batmen less interesting upon contact. WHERE ARE THE IDENTITY CRISES?? WHERE IS THE DIFFICULTY IN MAKING A DECISION?? WHERE ARE THE LENGTHY MONOLOGUES ARGUING BACK AND FORTH OR CONTRADICTING EACH OTHER ALL THE TIME??? The Batman Who Laughs is basically Two Face but without the wall seperating Harvey and Two Face. Joker!Batman should be unable to do anything or constantly switch between Bruce and Joker or save one life and then turn around and kill it. Like, where is the complexity? Why the hell is that guy only a murder machine?? That was neither Joker nor Batman's whole purpose??
Tell me all your thoughts, my friend, while I'm here spinning in circles and going insane. I'll never get out of this alive, you'll still find me ruminating on this on my deathbed.
I swear, if you give an absolute banger of an answer again, I'll come and start living in your walls.
Have a nice day!! :)
ANON LOVE OF MY LIFE, i'm shoveling all the insides of my walls out as we speak, you can move in by Wednesday morning—
Like, the way i felt every single word you said in my bones. You are so right, and there are a couple different points here and it's gonna get longer than usual so i'll separate each thought thread to avoid drowning in lé brain soup.
• Re: batman resisting his own insanity, i feel like i have simultaneously talked about this in 7986 different ways and haven't said anything about it at all 😂 possibly most of it has been discord ramblings. Long story short, the spine of his narrative to me is that he actively resists his own humanity and in extension of it, his evil. He wants to be good. But there's also immense psychological/emotional/physical price we pay whenever we make these kind of choices; whatever we disown and banish to our subconscious, we project out into the world and unto the people around us. The load you refuse to carry will be carried by the people around you, because at the end of the day /someone/ has to carry it, it doesn't just disappear into ether. So, in a way, for Batman to remain good, to remain a hero, someone else has to be bad. The extent in which Batman keeps his goodness "pure and untainted" dictates the horrors created around him— and particularly the creation of Joker. I say creation because the existence of Batman as a concept absolutely necessitates the existence of Joker. In a way Batman does create him, and it's true that with Batman gone Joker and half the evil in Gotham would be gone too, not because Batman is an evil presence— but precisely because he disowns his own evil.
And the thing is, in the specific context of Joker, it has become this almost loving, adoring symbiotic relationship; Joker has willingly shaped himself to fit the outline of an evil that Batman needs to defeat, he has become the sin that Batman can overcome so he can stay a saint. I actually have a draft on this that i never finished, a meta about how all the coloring choices in Joker's design eerily resemble the different color stages of a wound and the bruising after, how Batman almost feels like Jesus with Joker as his side wound, Joker being the price he pays and the pain he goes through for his martyrdom in order to stay pure, for his idealogy to have any form of meaning and significance, Joker being his very own holy suffering.
We fundamentally understand reality in form of contrasts, internal ones, external ones. As you very well pointed out, without an innate sense of contrast, we cease to have any form of coherent grasp on different concepts, and they start to sort of become noise, they become nothing. Would you truly understand what a day was and grasp it as a concept if it wasn't followed by a night? So like, what i'm saying is, people around Bruce/Batman become what he needs because they love him and they want to help him keep his narrative, the structure of his psyche intact. They help him stay 'him' by taking on the burden of what he doesn't want to be, he subconsciously shapes them in the image of what he needs to uphold his identity as a good person. This is why Alfred becomes Joker to save him, this is why Selina is the more socially acceptable pretty Joker that Bruce can actually marry and bring to his family, this is why Joker and Batman feel like they can never escape their narrative, their roles and their performance. It's the reason the moment Batman lurches to kill The Riddler in "the war of jokes and riddles", Joker stops his knife with his hand. It's their defined roles, and the greatest act of love that noone except Joker would show him. Joker says "I'm the sacrifice. I'm the evil, i'm the one who kills, i have made this choice so you can make yours. You're the good one. If you become evil, it renders both your efforts and my sacrifice meaningless, and i can not allow that to happen." And it's a truly fascinating dynamic really, for all that Joker has and hasn't done throughout the Batmanverse history, when it comes to Batman he's irredeemably selfless. Everything he does regarding Batman is to keep Batman's sense of goodness and heroism intact, and in this context he's more pure than him. Everyone around Batman wants him to kill, perhaps rightfully so, they mean well. But Joker says "i'll bear all the unbearable evil so you dont have to, and we both acutely understand that without my existence you mean nothing. I will be the monster so you dont have to." And honest to god there's a heartbreaking affection to this, something noone else will ever be willing or want to offer to Bruce, not to this extent.
in 'the war of jokes and riddles' Bruce tells Selina that "what separates him from utter evil is a hand on his knife. Joker's hand." like bro, he knows. In a deeply twisted and gutwrenching way Bruce knows that noone loves him the way Joker does.
• Re: combining Joker and Batman's heads and bodies, i was thinking.... two concepts maybe?? 👀 one is more like the Dullahan myth, in which Batman loses his head but he isn't carrying it, Joker steals it. And then Joker loses his head and Batman has to keep it and he's forced to use it. It'd be an insanely fun concept; the Dullahan myth can be interpreted as the idea of death of self by supposedly losing all that would make you human; your thoughts and memories and logic, etc. Except that you still have a heart, and a body, and they're not exactly cooperative. It'd be fun to have Joker's mind trying to tame Batman's heart and body, each fighting and singing their own song, same for Batman. A version of the myth has Dullahan carrying a human spine in one hand, and i mean, the possibilities are endless!
But also another concept would be: two frankenstein monsters lmaooo, same sense of discordent internal landscape, same sense of ideological tension and conflict, but also someone's gotta [tw mentions of gore] chop chop them and sew their body parts together, and that can be another interesting element added to their fucked up dynamic ✨️ it can also be Joker as Dr Frankensten and he sews parts of himself to Batman in order to save him!
• Re: Batman Who Laughs, oh girl (gn), i have nothing to add that you haven't already said more beautifully than me. There's so much emotional nuance and complex philosophy that could've gone into that concept, it's certainly one of the hardest Batman story variations to pull off, and weirdly enough, the people who dont directly aim for "Batman becomes Joker/Joker becomes Batman" stories often tell a better more intricate tale about that transformation than the people who straight up shoot for the concept. One of the things that always sends a chill down my spine is the ending of Batman: Europa, in which Joker is terrified and screaming as Batman laughs and lurches for him; that's the dynamic, that's the Batman who laughs, and the most unsettling part of it is that, Batman doesn't change. He doesn't have to. On a core level he is quite frankly a bit fucked up, it's not a stretch for Batman to be evil, and that's why his goodness is meaningful. Cue Nietsche's quote, "Of all evil I deem you capable: Therefore I want good from you. Verily, I have often laughed at the weaklings who thought themselves good because they had no claws." Batman is not a good guy entirely, and that makes his goodness a conscious choice with so much weight and worth and significance. I dont think a lot of DC people understand this.
With Batman Who Laughs, the name kinda sums up the take unfortunately; it's a superficial interpretation that falls flat on its own face because the writers couldn't be assed to explore how a chemical combination of Batman and Joker's narrative would unfold. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ as with any potent chemical reaction, the mixture is highly unstable and unpredictable, and that's the fucking fun of it. There's gotta be tension. I do think Batman and Joker can very well mix, i do think they can make a seamless fusion, but i dont trust any canon DC writers to handle the characterization well in a way that doesn't bore you out of your fucking mind. You gotta make a new person and you gotta capitalise on the core components both Batman and Joker share; their incessant sense of idealism, their need for purity, their volatile emotions and their aggression, their need to individuate from their context and deviate from the norm, take the third way out narrative wise, their philosophical and intellectual bend, their immense grief, their need to be oh so special and different 😂 they actually have a whole lot in common, this is why they're perfect enemies!
But yeah, writing that personality fusion is very hard because it's such an emotionally complex context and most DC writers have not felt a single emotion in the past 35 years aflhdtdhlf
Anyway yep i love your brain so SO much Anon, hope you have a wonderful day ❤️💕 and dont forget to tell me what ya think!!

I miss old skool Death Knight rp so much. I know there are classic servers and people who are still dedicated but I’m so checked out of WoW now. I came back to tumblr recently and all my old WoW mutuals seem to have had the exact same experience since 2018~2019 of just completely checking out of the game. Most of us seem to have quit even before the big Blizzard scandals.
But idk, I just get so nostalgic for Acherus. I don’t think I’ll ever get over Death Knights 💀 I didn’t play on US servers but I always wished (I could have joined you all!)
It really was a flash-in-the-pan type of RP that can never truly be revisited, and I miss it terribly sometimes. With the scourge plotline basically concluded not once but twice-over for good measure, the whole premise of the class loses its identity and casts them adrift and without purpose-- something for which they were always sort of destined, but with Shadowlands even things like the crises of faith and redemption and what happens when they finally let go and properly join the dead are negated. The uncertainty and fear of it all is what made them so interesting!
When I left the game, it felt like 90% of the RP happening was very "domestic"-- family dynamics, shipping, people having bake sales, exploration/travel, picnics, parties. It can be occasionally fun to see how a living weapon tries to fit into that sort of dynamic, but I personally found it quickly tiresome and unfulfilling as the moral quandaries of existing at all fell to the wayside. It's very hard to continue to RP someone grappling with their identity when all the other RPers are basically going "oh yeah i just drink a potion to stop the endless hunger so i can run my fashion business :)", and rather than mire in my lore snobbery I just... left.

kinda sorta spitballing a bit here, but i think at least some of the UK group's behavior in this stems from wilbur being publicly exposed recently. because he was in their circle and close to a lot of them, and they are... very online, basing a lot of their understanding of morality/ethics/etc on a very twitter-esque framework that lacks nuance. where people can be neatly sorted into Bad and Good boxes and shunning the Bad Ones and grouping with Good Ones is something that happens pretty much automatically, and if you fail to do it that means you also go into the Bad box. obviously in reality, relationships are waaaay more messy and complicated, and there is no clear cut good/bad binary to sort people by. but when that's your worldview, finding out a close friend is actually a serial abuser, and you weren't able to see it until then, well, it really threatens to shake the foundations of what you think being a good person is and whether you are one. and when you have built yourself up to be better than others based on your perceived moral superiority (in your own or in others' eyes), having that perception shaken effectively shakes your sense of self. especially in your younger years, and the UK group is all what, barely over twenty at most now? i'm turning 28 this year and i have had so much therapy focused on dealing with centering an unachievable moral standard in my sense of self that meant that any time either my understanding of Being A Good Person was challenged or i failed to live up to that unrealistic standard, i ended up in (identity) crises. nowadays, i won't say i fully fixed that issue, but there is like... "more" to my own self-identity, so having one part of it crumble or change temporarily doesn't shake me as a whole so deeply. which is a very long build up to the point i'm actually trying to make. specifically, i think a lot of the UK group just had their own self-perception about their moral standing challenged significantly, and are/were looking for proof that they are "at least still better than someone else" which prompted them to point fingers and do it loudly. couple that with the - possibly subconscious - need to get prying eyes away from their own hurt and vulnerability, and you get rue comparing george and dream to wilbur, and max screaming at the camera. they're performing the outrage and anger that their (definitely twitter/younger skewing fandom influenced) standard for Being A Good Person demands, without having to center or focus the situation they are personally involved in, attached to, and where they personally may have failed to recognize and/or act against someone who was harming others. (mind, i don't think they should be doing the processing of their relationships with wilbur publicly, but this also circles back to a mentality of "everything must be done in the court of public opinion and also immediately" that is just... not healthy, not how it works, not actually solution-oriented) ANYWAY this got way longer than i meant it to but. tl;dr is basically: i think we are seeing a lot of "SEE? They do it too, so we're not bad! Actually, they are even worse!!" from the UK group that really is testament both of a lack of maturity on their part and also how toxic and counterproductive to personal growth the "twitter stan" approach to morality is.
possibly! We have no idea what goes on behind the scenes but this could be a fair guess

i never thought of modern au katara being a writer, but that's so fitting and i love it. do you see any parallels between her journey learning waterbending in canon with her gaining confidence as a writer in your au? ex being dismissed bc of all the disrespect the art of writing gets irl, meeting haru and being mutually inspired/ working with jet and having a fallout? i know there's a fine line between narrative parallels in aus and like, contrived shit like katara being the last mcr fan or smth
not the last mcr fan 😭 but yeah!! it feels like the very natural connection between her being the show's narrator and the way storytelling and narrative is such a crucial aspect of her identity, culture, the way she sees the world, and survives. i think her being an investigative journalist who travels and reports on various crises and exposes corruption and inequality, but also writes more personal essays on her own experiences, or even just writing about media and art and fashion and sports and the stuff she enjoys. historical monographs, journalistic exposes, personal essays, poetry, fiction, maybe even like. a children's fantasy series. truly, she can do it all!
however, unlike waterbending, i don't think it's the kind of thing she would aspire to excel at since childhood. i actually think that she wouldn't really try hard in any academic pursuits for most of her childhood/adolescence bc she doesn't feel like she'll ever be good enough anyway, so what's the point. she's like "i only learned how to read when i was five and i don't understand number theory i must be some kind of ignoramus." the prospect of actually being very smart in many ways (including academically) just totally eludes her. because in a mundane world like ours, where bending does not exist and there is no such thing as a chosen one, it is sokka, not katara, who is the shiny, special wunderkind, and katara is the one who compensates by excelling in areas that sokka does not (namely, athletics, activism, and art). so mapping those arcs into this world actually inverts a lot of their dynamics in the sense of what and who is valued.
obviously katara does nonetheless struggle with being valued as a waterbender (by the nwt, by sokka himself, by the fire nation) and has to work incredibly hard to prove herself, so the idea that she's never underestimated or undervalued in the show isn't entirely accurate, but there's definitely a sense, at least within her family and tribe, that she is the world's specialest princess, and although i still think she'd be kanna's favorite and cherished as the baby of the family and beloved by aang in modern au, she isn't deemed inherently worthy and special. because she isn't a waterbender, she's just a normal girl.
sidenote: i do actually think a lot about how katara and sokka both undermine each other out of jealousy, like it's just not sokka calling katara a freak for playing with magic water, katara is constantly dismissing and undermining sokka in a way that's like. hang on. does she think she's....punching up?? like i do think katara probably carries resentments about not being as smart and special as sokka and compensates via her bending in the same way sokka compensates for his lack of bending via his other skills. they are constantly caught in a cycle of trying to be worthy of being the other's sibling, with the ultimate result just being that they are both incredibly gifted and accomplished in their respective areas (azula and zuko also sort of have this going on, but it's less mutual, because azula's skills are valued and zuko's are not, whereas both katara and sokka possess valuable skills that make them special to their community).
anyway. as for katara's journey to becoming a writer, i think she would write for fun as a kid but never show it to anyone, not even aang. and then occasionally she'll hand in an essay for school that she actually put effort into, which is very rare, because she only puts effort in when she's genuinely interested in the subject, but sometimes she'll put in a lot of time and research and effort just to prove the teacher wrong, which is when she truly shines. and some of her teachers can actually see that she has a lot of potential when she actually allows herself to be vulnerable and her passion seeps through the page, but she never really pays attention when they try to tell her that she's talented, because she just assumes that they're only being nice to her because they know that she's sokka's sister and feel an obligation to praise her by association. so it's only when she gets to college, and enters a world where sokka simply does not exist, that she realizes that she has merit of her own as a writer, thinker, and student.
she begins writing essays for various school publications, and after a while starts publishing them online, and then eventually in legitimate journals. it takes her a long time to actually establish herself as a career journalist, because she doesn't have the luxury of just writing full time, but eventually she's established enough that she actually publishes a book of essays, and goes on a book tour, and is invited to speak at various universities and events. and then one day, during a talk at a college, she says, "you know, there's hope for everyone. i only learned how to read at the age of five. but i went at my own pace, and eventually found my calling." and the moderator is just like "uhhh.... that's actually above average??? you're basically just saying you've always been smart." and katara. shuts down for a second while she attempts to process this information before she just goes, "WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Had a femme4butch lesbian realization.
So a few years back I would see a lot of top/domme bi wlw talk about what kinds of dynamics they like with guys and I was oddly fascinated by them in ways that, of course, since I had a hard time flirting with feminine wlw and even being attracted to most of them, made me have a billion identity crises.
I'd say "Oh yeah if I was bi that's how I'd be with a guy" and it was a picture of a very feminine woman pinning a dude against a wall and sort of near-railing him and being very domineering?
Of course that also had to do with how I kind of. Tend to out-masc the dudes around me to the point they feel emasculated and when I did try to date dudes in the past before I accepted my lesbianism I'd subconsciously end up being "the man" of the relationship over them. Also I found them extremely annoying but that's not the point.
ANYWAYS turns out what fascinated me about those dynamics wasn't that it was a woman and a man it was that it was someone very feminine throwing around a much more masculine person but one who also wasn't acting like a stereotypical traditionally masculine man either.
I was just at that stage in my lesbian development in which the shaming of butches and those of us who love them I was constantly exposed to made me not even consider that what I was craving was... Throwing a butch around (sexually) as an hyperfeminine femme lesbian. Which explains why I was so obsessed with that dynamic the wlw Who Actually Like Men were posting, but also the idea of actually being like that with a man made me want to slit my own throat on the spot DRXFSVGBJHNFDNFGVNJHFG.

if you get lost (you can always be found) by corvidspectre Originally, it was easy to believe it was just over-eager adoration for one Dick Grayson. It was too easy to believe in fact; how could he have known there was any alternative? Dick Grayson was amazing, all that he wanted to be. The way he flew through the air, his effortless smiles and energy, what young child wouldn't want to be him? He was just idolising him, and he was a perfectly fine role model for a young girl to have. Maybe it was just a blossoming interest in gymnastics.

“Look at me! I’m Robin, the Boy Wonder!” Jason cheers the first time he has the Robin suit on, Dick Grayson’s old nickname coming out of his mouth with a sickly sort of feeling to it.
But then Bruce smiles at him like he’s finally done something worth being proud of and Jason feels like he can ignore the way his skin is crawling if it means Bruce will smile at him like that again.
He can change, can’t he? He can be the Boy Wonder that Bruce wants him to be. He can do it. He can be whatever Bruce wants him to be. It doesn’t matter what she wants.

New Releases
A bunch of new books coming out this week and all but one are sequels or trilogies. I'm personally excited for The Lady of Rapture by Sarah Raughley which is the third book in the Bones of Ruin series. Which book will you be purchasing this week?
Click to read more about this week's new releases.
Dear Wendy by Ann Zhao Feiwel & Friends
Dear Wendy’s Sophie and Jo, two aromantic and asexual students at Wellesley College, engage in an online feud while unknowingly becoming friends in real life, in this dual POV Young Adult contemporary debut from Ann Zhao. Sophie Chi is in her first year at Wellesley College (despite her parents’ wishes that she attend a “real” university, rather than a liberal arts school) and has long accepted her aromantic and asexual identities. Despite knowing she’ll never fall in love, she enjoys running an Instagram account that offers relationship advice to students at Wellesley. No one except her roommate knows that she’s behind the incredibly popular “Dear Wendy” account. When Joanna “Jo” Ephron―also a first-year student at Wellesley―created their “Sincerely Wanda” account, it wasn’t at all meant to be serious or take off like it does―not like Dear Wendy’s. But now they might have a rivalry of sorts with Dear Wendy? Oops . As if Jo’s not busy enough having existential crises over gender, the fact that she’ll never truly be loved or be enough, or her few friends finding The One and forgetting her! While tensions are rising online, Sophie and Jo are getting closer in real life, bonding over their shared aroace identities. As their friendship develops and they work together to start a campus organization for other a-spec students, can their growing bond survive if they learn just who’s behind the Wendy and Wanda accounts? With its exploration of a-spec identities, college life, and more, this platonic comedy, perfect for fans of Netflix’s The Half of It and Alice Oseman’s Loveless, is ultimately a love story about two people who are not―and will not―be in love!
Calling of Light (Shamanborn #3) by Lori M. Lee Page Street YA
Queen Meilyr is dead, and a tenuous peace has settled over Evewyn. King Meilek’s acension has ended his sister’s oppression of the shamanborn, marking a new start for the country where Sirscha, once a prisoner, has been elevated to a position as the King’s Shadow. Yet, beneath the surface, tensions between shamanborn and other citizens remain high. Conflicts rage at Evewyn’s borders. The Soulless still lurks in the darkness. And while some might call Sirscha a hero for allegedly killing the Queen, to many she’s a monster―a soulrender just like the Soulless. Sometimes Sirscha even believes that herself. But Sirscha recognizes the Soulless as the world’s common enemy, and she is determined to hunt him down to prevent yet another war. As the Soulless reemerges and both his power and the Dead Wood grow, Sirscha knows time is running short. She’ll have to trust in her true friends―and her own power―if she hopes to end the Soulless’s hold over the land for good. When defeating him requires a sacrifice too terrible to conceive, Sirscha will have to decide how far she’s willing to go to save Evewyn.
The Lady of Rapture (The Bones of Ruin #3) by Sarah Raughley Margaret K. McElderry Books
For years, the elite secret society called the Enlightenment Committee has waited for the apocalyptic force known as Hiva to destroy the world as it has so many times before. What the Committee didn’t know, however, was that Hiva wasn’t an event—it was a person. Iris Marlow. An African tightrope dancer with no memories of her past. A girl who cannot die. At least, she couldn’t die. Until her own friends discovered her one weakness and murdered her once and for all. The world-ending threat she posed should be gone too, but there’s one more Hiva out there, and unlike Iris, this one has no love for humanity. In her absence, this Hiva has taken it upon himself to judge if humanity deserves to live. But when it comes to Hivas, the judgment is always the same. The ending is always total destruction. And while Iris is dead, she’s not gone—and after the betrayal that ended her life as Iris, she is now out for revenge. The world’s days are numbered. The Cataclysm has begun.
To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods (To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods #1) by Molly X. Chang Del Rey
She has power over death. He has power over her. When two enemies strike a dangerous bargain, will they end a war . . . or ignite one? Heroes die, cowards live. Daughter of a conquered world, Ruying hates the invaders who descended from the heavens long before she was born and defeated the magic of her people with technologies unlike anything her world had ever seen. Blessed by Death, born with the ability to pull the life right out of mortal bodies, Ruying shouldn’t have to fear these foreign invaders, but she does. Especially because she wants to keep herself and her family safe. When Ruying’s Gift is discovered by an enemy prince, he offers her an impossible deal: If she becomes his private assassin and eliminates his political rivals—whose deaths he swears would be for the good of both their worlds and would protect her people from further brutalization—her family will never starve or suffer harm again. But to accept this bargain, she must use the powers she has always feared, powers that will shave years off her own existence. Can Ruying trust this prince, whose promises of a better world make her heart ache and whose smiles make her pulse beat faster? Are the evils of this agreement really in the service of a much greater good? Or will she betray her entire nation by protecting those she loves the most?
Sheine Lende (Elatsoe #2) by Darcie Little Badger Levine Querido
Darcie Little Badger’s Elatsoe launched her career and in the years since has become a beloved favorite. This prequel to Elatsoe, centered on Ellie’s grandmother, deepens and expands Darcie’s one-of-a-kind world and introduces us to another cast of characters that will wend their way around readers’ hearts. Shane works with her mother and their ghost dogs, tracking down missing persons even when their families can’t afford to pay. Their own family was displaced from their traditional home years ago following a devastating flood – and the loss of Shane’s father and her grandparents. They don’t think they’ll ever get their home back. Then Shane’s mother and a local boy go missing, after a strange interaction with a fairy ring. Shane, her brother, her friends, and her lone, surviving grandparent – who isn’t to be trusted – set off on the road to find them. But they may not be anywhere in this world – or this place in time. Nevertheless, Shane is going to find them.

HEYOOOOOOO
what sort of little intimate domestic things do you think Luke would enjoy doing with you the most?
HEYOOOOOOOO
Thank you for the ask! 💕
He’d definitely like cooking together. Even if one or both you aren’t the best at it, he loves figuring it out with you and there are lots of giggles when you make a mess (him with flour all over him would be so cute) or when you get something wrong. Can totally see a “accidentally catch the kitchen on fire” situation ending in you both looking at each other like 😳 before busting out laughing.
Definitely a big fan of showering together. Sharing a bathroom seems really mundane and sometimes not that glamorous, but it’s actually kind of an intimate, vulnerable thing, and I think he’d love getting ready for the day or to go to bed with you next to him like that. Like just brushing your teeth at the same time, helping him shave or him shaving while you do your hair routine, and he feels soooo privileged to know he’s the only once who gets to see you right as you get out of the shower and vice versa.
I think he’d like doing chores with you too. Or anything where you’re in the same space and just enjoying each others presence while doing different things. Like sitting leaning against him working off your datapad while he’s meditating, or him laying his head in your lap while you both read your books, or doing laundry that turns into him doing goofy stuff to make each other laugh — splashing each other if you’re doing laundry with a full bucket the old fashioned way, making a little soap sculpture on his head, him wearing your bra like a hat while he does the rest of the laundry like nothing is amiss, etc.
I think he’d just live for the little moments and every super mundane thing becomes a situation where he’s just so grateful cuz, like I’ve said before, I hardcore believe with all the bullying, loneliness, identity crises, and near-death experiences he’s had, he never thought he’d get to have peaceful domestic moments in life, so it’s something he really cherishes.

The Phantom Martian: Chapter 2
Anddd chapter 2 is up!
This is a crossover between Danny Phantom x The Martian. You do not need to have read/watched The Martian to understand this fic.
xxxx
Summary: When Astronaut Mark Watney went to Mars, he knew there was a chance he'd never come home. Now, though, he's determined to last long enough for NASA to save him because this whole dying for science thing is not as fun as it sounds.
Meanwhile, Danny Fenton is just trying to keep his identity a secret amidst a potential crisis with his powers. Seriously, what's up with that weird current under his skin? Why is he having so much trouble controlling it? And why does it feel so familiar...?
In a fit of determination (and possible stupidity), Danny goes to Mars to save Watney, only to add to both their crises when he arrives and can't get home. Will NASA save them? Will Danny have a home to return to if they do?
Chapter WC: 5,838
Fic Tags: Danny Fenton & Mark Watney, Canon Divergence, Ecton AU
xxxx
Excerpt under the cut!
“The hell?” Tucker leaped out of the way.
“Ugh!” Danny shook out his hand, the tingling current tickling his fingertips. Thankfully, it seemed that unlike when he purposefully went after Dash, subconsciously he was incapable of doing much more than producing the equivalent of a strong static shock. “Sorry, I don't know why that keeps happening.”
“Well, figure it out before you electric-shock our whole class!” Tucker hissed, tossing the capped thermos to him. “Seriously, electricity powers? I thought you had an ice core, dude! So not fair if you get a halfa core too!”
Danny snatched the thermos out of the air. “Halfa core?”
“You know, because you get two sets of power types! Cold and electric.”
“It's not electricity powers.” At least, he was pretty sure it wasn't electricity powers. It wouldn't make sense if that was the case considering the ball in his chest that was called his ice core.
But more proof—well, not really proof in any way he could explain—was just what it felt like. It wasn't a burning zap kind of shock like touching one of his dad's rogue home-project wires, it was…different. He couldn't explain it, which was the problem. But the sensation felt familiar to him. It burned, sure, but it was a cold sort of burn, one sharper than the light tingling of intangibility. It was funny how it almost felt like…

Rewatched Tadc (again) and spent some time thinking on it to kinda give myself some structural meaning! This is kinda how I see this sad little tale of precious babies
Candy coated dread.
Here they are, in this absolute utopia of a world. No need to work, eat, sleep, you have whatever you want, you would think it would be a dream. Except it’s not. It lacks a key thing humans constantly spend their life searching for, purpose. Here you are, in this world of endless creativity and fun, but with no reason to create and feel joy. All the things that brought on those feelings have been wiped away. Your family, your friends, your life’s enjoyment, your identity, for gods sake your own physical being has been striped away from you. And here you are surrounded by joy and childlike wonder, grasping for strings of sanity because you lack purpose. You lack meaning for existence. You lack self. It’s a common thought for humans to question life’s meaning and worth, it’s a sort of drive to create and explore. But now there’s no reason, this is the final extent. And what do you do? Just. Keep. Living. Through the pain of watching everything you knew, the good, the bad, and the ugly, just slip right out of reach along with whatever sanity and self worth you held. All you can do is sit there and keep living, because the sweet release that is death isn’t an option, and losing whatever you had left entirely is far to painful. So you keep on going. And you can’t stop. And here you are in this utopia where you can’t die. This is a perfect world, a candy coated world of existential dread.
God I love animated shows with life questioning crises and some biblical implications
