hi! i was wondering if you could do wanderer, tighnari, childe, heizou, and maybe thoma with a reader who suffers from like severe depression? like they have no motivation to do anything and they’re always tired and sad and all of that depression stuff (i put that really mildly but i think you get my gist). and maybe if possible could you include that like, the reader is always helping other people and never helps themself because they don’t think they deserve it?
i’m sorry if this is too heavy a request. no pressure and no worries if you don’t want to do it!

A/N... hellooo, thank you so much for this request, i'd be more than happy to write this for you! i'm so sorry but i had to remove thoma from the mix as i couldn't come up with any ideas for himmm. also also i apologise if childe's section is super ooc, i really struggle writing for him, but this is good practice! i did include other mental health related topics that can link to depression as i wanted to try and connect with as many people as possible. this does not mean i expect you to be suffering from those things, and in no way do you have to in order to be suffering from depression. if you are, that's ok too ♡

♪ wanderer, can be harsh, and has proven to have quite the tough exterior. that doesn't mean he loves you any less. and so, when he found out how you'd really been feeling, and that you'd been having to put up with it alone? he was absolutely heartbroken.
♪ you had forced yourself to get out of bed that morning, feeling almost limp as you stumbled down the stairs. nothing felt real. nothing felt like it mattered.

♪ with anyone else, he would've been embarrassed. being seen crying was not something many would expect of the wanderer; but it was you. you were hurting, you needed him, and so he wasn't afraid to be vulnerable around you if that's what it takes.

I mean, these are people, as you have been reporting and others have seen, that deliberately targeted teenage girls, women, children, the elderly, not just for rape and murder, but then dumping their bodies off in the streets of Gaza, where the crowds can then defile their lifeless bodies.
I mean, just horrifying things. And I don't think we know the full extent of it yet. I mean, there's more to come in the days and weeks ahead. You can't coexist. They have to be eradicated. And you've pointed out the very difficult challenge ahead—this is going to be incredibly painful. This is going to be incredibly difficult and it's going to be horrifying—the price to pay.”
-Senator Marco Rubio
“Finish them. Finish them,”
-Nikki Haley after being asked about a humanitarian pause
“This is not just an attack on Israel—this was an attack on America. Finish them, @b.netanyahu. They should have hell to pay for what they have just done.”
-instagram caption from Nikki Haley
“I don’t know how you can have a ceasefire, a permanent ceasefire, with an organization like Hamas, which is dedicated to turmoil and chaos and destroying the state of Israel,”
-senator Bernie Sanders
“The calls for a ceasefire are outrageous.”
-house speaker Mike Johnson
“there are very few innocent Palestinian citizens”
-rep. Brian Mast
(terrorism is) “absolutely supported by the Palestinian people from elementary school all the way up into the elderly,”
-rep. Brian Mast
“I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Palestinian civilians, as frequently said,” … “I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term ‘innocent Nazi civilians’ during World War II.”
-rep. Brian Mast
“Rashida Tlaib has alleged ties to Hamas.
Based on these allegations, it’s sadly not surprising she’s calling for a genocide against the Jewish people.”
-an accusatory tweet from senator Marsha Blackburn regarding lone Palestinian congresswoman, Rashida Tlaib
“I don’t have any malice towards Palestinians. I have Muslim friends, believe me.”
-rep. Ryan Zinke regarding criticism of his Palestinian ban
“I don't trust the Biden Administration any more than I do the Palestinian Authority to screen who is allowed to come into the United States. This is the most anti-Hamas immigration legislation I have seen and it's well deserved.”
-also rep. Ryan Zinke claiming his Palestinian immigration ban is ‘well deserved’
#3 VIRAL STATEMENTS FROM EVERYDAY ZIONISTS:
(long chunk of text)
“On the Gaza beach the autumn night is descending
Planes are bombing, ruin follows ruin
See the IDF crossing the borderline
To annihilate the Swastika carriers
In one more year
There won’t be anything left there
And we’ll return safely to our home
In one more year
We’ll eliminate them all and go back to plowing our fields”
-Video on Kan News, sung by several 6-12 year olds
"After the war, Israel should handle Gaza like China handles Xinjiang. Full surveillance state. Re education camps. Sterilizations. It's warranted and the only way to pacify the jihadi population."
"They reproduce like rabbits and raise them to be terrorists, creating more poverty, misery, and terrorism. Why should we allow that. The world would be a much better place if they didn't reproduce."
-tweets from cofounder of Oyster Ventures, Kenneth Ballenegger
“These are the Palestinians. Blood thirsty morally depraved animals who want nothing short of every inch of Israel and all Jews dead.”
“Lots of sand for Palestinians in Sinai which Israel gave to Egypt. Give them all 48h to get there…”
-tweets from pediatrician at John Hopkins, Darren Klugman
(long chunk of text)
“Listen carefully you leftists,
We don’t do reconciliation.
And the chorus stays the same:
May your village burn down.”
-Sung by IDF soldiers in the West Bank
“No ceasefire!”
-chants from March For Israel crowd in response to Van Jones wanting no more deaths
“I wish they will rape you alive.
They will film you.
And if your mother be alive.
They will send the video for your mother to see how you burn.
That’s what I wish.”
-March for Israel protester
“Let me say the unsayable. I’m not endorsing this but it’s a possible solution which is simply to expel them from Gaza. You might call that ethnic cleansing and so forth but the fact is that at the end of the second world war there were a million Germans kicked out of Poland. There were Germans expelled from Czechoslovakia,"
-Breitbart editor, Joel Pollak
“That’s an option, I think, after all this … If it comes down to ethnic cleansing, you want to cleanse my people. I’ll cleanse yours first.”
-Breitbart editor, Joel Pollak
“There will never be a Palestinian state. It’s over.”
-Breitbart editor, Joel Pollak
#4 A FEW ALARMING CELEBRITY STATEMENTS:
“Gazans rape Jewish girls only in self defense,”
-a line from a comic posted by Amy Schumer
“You either stand with Israel or you stand with terrorism”
-Noah Schnapp
“Many are saying that it’s inhumane that Israel is cutting off water/electricity to Gaza. Israel made it pretty simple — ‘release the hostages and we will turn it back on. Instead of pleading with Hamas to release CIVILIAN hostages which include BABIES and TODDLERS there are politicians (cough cough AOC) calling Israel inhumane. If that isn’t enough for you: ISRAEL DOES NOT NEED TO SUPPLY GAZA WITH THESE RESOURCES (which they do, for FREE),”
-deleted Sarah Silverman story she said she made because she was “stoned”

Tumblr media
YOU STARED OUT AT the window of your apartment in complete boredom, the task you were once occupied on now left alone neglected on your desk. The radio that rested on the counters of your kitchen was on, softly blaring old songs, filling up the usual silence of your house.
Days like this are moments you're used to, just looking out on the scenery outside, your chin on the palm of your hands, sighing out of nowhere now and then. Moments like these keep you at ease, and it helps you relax even if you're constantly reminded of the work you left on your desk. But sometimes you can't help but miss the feeling of the house you once resided in.
The house you grew up in.
Thinking about the times back in raccoon city, the city you were originally raised from, puts a smile to your face. The times where you and your brother would constantly argue and compete over who gets firsts, like the most comfortable spot on the couch, the remote, who gets to change the channels and watch their favorite shows and series.
Your first home was those types of homes that was always busy. Your home was small, but it was enough to fit four happy family members, so every room you're in, silence was never allowed. You're mother was always hanging around the kitchen, listening to the radio and cooking whatever food you like. Meanwhile your brother was in his own room or in the living room with your father, watching live games or raging over a thrilling series.
You? Stuck up in your room, constantly brushing your cats fur or reading a magazine. If you're being forces out of your room by you're mom, you're either playing games with your brother on the backyard or picking on him for his bad pitching.
Your brother and you like to play baseball together, since your father used to play it. It was never serious or professional, it was all just for the fun of it since your mother desperately wanted you and your brother to bond over something. So, your dad came up with a solution for your mom's problem; baseball.
One time, you almost broke a window when you were batting. It was a miracle the ball only bounced off the wall inches off the window. The ball was never seen after that. Neither of you told your parents about it either, you just explained a lie as to why the ball was lost.
A smile forms on your face when you recalled the memory, shaking your head to your own amusement before looking back at the piled up papers you needed to work on as it laid atop the textbooks. You were about to frown at the sight of it until a loud ring tone rang around the quiet interior of your apartment.
Standing up, you walked to the counter where you left your phone, answering it without bothering to look at the contact.
"Hello?" You merely said, your words short and curt. There was an amused breathy chuckle on the other line, the sound giving you a wave of familiarity.
"Geez, shorty, I know it's been a few months but does your greeting have to be that cold? I'm hurt." The voice of someone none other than your brother emerges from the other line. You could practically hear the faux hurt in his tone, imagining him placing his hand on his chest with a smug frown on his face.
"Few months? Elias, it's nearly been a year." You huffed, rolling your eyes as your brother let's out a sound as if he was unsure of your words.
"It's only been nine months! That's nothing from a year." He softly yells defensively, and you resist the urge to roll your eyes again. Despite that, you smiled, happy to hear from him again.
You sit right back down in your couch, your assignments long forgotten once again. "So why did you call? Want another favor or something?" He scoffs at your words, clearly offended.
"Hey, let it go. That was one time."
"Answer the question, El."
"Okay, okay! Geez you're mean," you lightly chuckle at his mutter, waiting for him to continue. "Ma and dad called me yesterday, since it's near my break they asked if I wanted to visit them back home." He said. You stopped staring at your nails at his respond, brow lifting curiously.
"I said I'd think about it first because I wanted to ask you if you wanted to come visit them with me." You cooed at that, earning an embarrassed scoff from Elias.
"Ellie! How sweet of you, of course I'll go!" You grinned enthusiastically, ignoring how your brother cursed at you for that annoying nickname.
"Hey, why are you just telling me this when you said they called you yesterday?" Your smile fades into a petty frown.
"They called me in the afternoon, I was in the middle of taking a nap until the ringtone rudely interrupted me. After the call ended, I just passed out so I didn't get the chance to tell you immediately." He explains.
"Sounds like you alright." You both shared a soft laugh.
"When do you plan on visiting them? I'm okay with whenever." You then questioned again, and you could hear a curt sound of clothing shuffling, and you know that was him shrugging his shoulders. You sigh,
"Well how about this Tuesday? 29?" You suggested, and he gives you a careless yet satisfied hum.
"Great, I knew you could plan this for me." He smugly spoke from the other time, and you only irked, unimpressed. "Haha, you're hilarious." You rolled your eyes with a huff, and Elias snickers.
Elias clears his throat, "Well, I gotta go now."
You frowned at his words, but you understood why. Now that he has a new job, his lifestyle has now changed and he's now busier than before, which is why he barely has time to contact you and your parents. His rarely gets breaks off work, but it's better than not having any at all. At least that's what he said.
You nodded as if he could see, "Alright. See you." He hums at that, muttering a goodbye as well. The call ends and the apartment was yet again filled with silence. This time, you dislike it. Sparing your paperwork a glance, you stood up from where you were sat and walked to your room, suddenly interested in taking a nap.

Banaba
How the West Made an Island Unhabitable (and Consumed its People's Bones)
Banaba, aka Ocean Island, is a small island in Micronesia. It's legally part of Kiribati [kih-ree-bas] but geographically, culturally, and politically very distinct. At three hundred kilometres from its nearest neighbour, Banaba is one of the most isolated places on earth.
It is also among one of the most ecologically devastated.
In the 1900's, a UK / Aotearoa / Australian owned mining company dug up and shipped away huge amounts of Banaba's phosphate-rich soil for use as fertilizer. They grew rich and created Aotearoa's massive agricultural industry from literal stolen land.
More than just the physical earth was taken. Phosphate mining stripped the layers where Banabans had buried their dead for thousands of years. The dust of their bones fed the lands of the West, creating rich green fields that Banabans would never see the profits of.
When I say 'huge amounts' of earth; 90% of the island's surface was stripped away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Left image: an aerial view of Banaba showing a roughly oval island with no vegetation in the centre. The outside is ringed by a thin strip of forest. Right image: a photo of the edge of a mining area. In the background is a forest, but then the ground drops off sharply into irregular rocky terrain.]
The ancient sacred caves were destroyed. The island's only source of fresh water was irreversibly polluted and left it unusable to this day. The interior of Banaba became one great hollow of uneven rock, so full of dips and pillars that it is now almost completely impassable on foot. It was left a barren land.
Banaba is not the only Pacific island devastated by phosphate mining; most notably, its neighbour Nauru had 80% of its surface stripped away. But nowhere has been exploited to quite the same extent as Banaba.
There were further indignities and horrors inflicted on the Banaban people, including indescribable atrocities carried out by Japanese occupiers during WWII, and tbe Britain-led forceful relocation of Banabans to Rabi Island in Fiji. Many still live there today. Others have migrated away.
Tumblr media
[Image: Banaban girls performing a traditional dance on Rabi Island.]
The traumatic experiences of Banabans, the mass murders and the separation from their ancestral land have all caused significant cultural loss. This includes the loss of the Banaban language.
Approximately three hundred Banabans have returned to their home island, surviving due to supplies shipped in every few months. The only freshwater source remains unusable and severe droughts strike Banaba every three to four years. Although a desalination plant exists there, the vulnerability of the island became all too clear in 2021 when the plant broke down in the middle of a drought. It took three months for repair equipment to arrive. During that time the residents had no fresh water. Their only food was fish because all of their crops had died. They survived by sucking the liquid from fish eyeballs.
And an Australian mining company wants to do it all again.
Part of the reason that people returned to Banaba, despite the difficulties of life there, was to protect it from further mining. But in August last year, the Australian mining company Centrex announced a plan to restart phosphate mining on Banaba. The plan has been paused due to protests from the Banaban people, but it could be restarted again at any time.
We cannot leave it here. If you want to do one small thing to help, you can sign this petition from Banaban community leaders to stop the proposed new phosphate mine. But more than that, Banabans have been campaigning for Australia and Aotearoa to fund ecological restoration projects, especially for the sacred caves that were once the island's source of fresh water. As Katerina Teiawa says:
"We need to move away from this same continuous narrative of ‘the poor Banaban people, who have no water, help them’ and move towards an approach that is actually finding a solution.
This whole thing is a series of crises. We can’t just keep telling the story of devastation and vulnerability over and over again. Where does the crisis end, if not with justice?"

Tagged by the awesome @mostannoyingbillioner for this and I absolutely love these!
Rules: post the first lines of your last 10 fics posted to Ao3. (Sort by date posted.) If you have less than 10 fics posted, post what you have.
-.-.-
1. The Omega Prince - House of the Dragon - Modern Royalty Omegaverse - Unrated (affectionally referred to as The Beast fic)
(currently on Chapter 12)
It was tradition for family to gather at the end of winter. Nominally, it was to commemorate the end of the Long Night centuries earlier, when Queen Daenerys I Targaryen and her nephews had defeated an army of the dead and re-established Targaryen rule in Westeros after the War of Five Kings. In reality, it was an excuse for family to gather and snipe at each other over food of questionable edibility prepared by an overworked and exhausted host.
This year, that host was Rhaenys.
2. The Snarky One - Teen Wolf - Theo-centric Post-Canon - Rated E
(currently on Chapter 21)
The graveyard shift at the hospital was bad enough, agreeing to check in at the Animal Clinic on her way home just made the night seem even longer. Hell, the sun would be up before she got to bed at this rate.
3. A Targaryen Solution - House of the Dragon - Canon Divergent Arranged Marriage AU - Rated T
(currently on Chapter 19)
It was a not-so-open secret that Targaryens could all carry children. The Faith of the Seven weren't fans of it, of course, but Targaryens were the blood of the dragon, and dragons don't care for the human concept of gender. The only thing that mattered to a dragon was blood, and fire.
That's what Viserys reminded himself of as he stood before the court and announced the betrothal. Rhaenyra had suggested Helaena, but that would not solve the issue of succession.
4. Concubine Beats King - House of the Dragon - Jace/Aegon Canon Divergent Elopement - Rated E
(currently on Chapter 22)
Dragonstone was old and her walls were filled with secrets. Helaena walked the walls of an old library. She trailed one finger over the spines.
Her mother's words echoed in her head.
*The Targaryens keep their blood pure.*
5. Quantum Quirks - Star Trek (mostly Voyager) - Post Canon Icheb/Q Slowburn - Rated T
(currently on Chapter 13)
Captain Janeway would love to say she was surprised by this turn of events. Really, she'd have even given up a coffee ration for an iota or two of shock if they were still in the Delta Quadrant (just the one ration though).
Reality as it was, when she opened the door to her quarters to find Q Junior sitting on her couch, eyes already wide and ready to pout, Kathryn just sighed. She plopped herself beside her godson and rubbed her fingers into the sides of her forehead. A headache formed anyway.
6. Sloan's Rosary - Original Fiction - Modern Ghost Story - Rated T
(Completed)
We called the intersection ‘Doom and Gloom.” The streets were always busy, what with the highway being just a few blocks down. Every single building was the same shade of grey, made out of cinder block and concrete from a 90s rebuild.
A bunch of college apartment complexes lined Doom St and a bunch of fast food joints and expensive clothing boutiques ran along Gloom Ave. Perfect for your average college undergrads! We lived a few blocks away, in a two bedrooms house we’d started renting three years ago when we stopped being undergrads.
I was sitting in the passenger seat. We’d bought the old Cadillac our freshman year with money we’d been saving since before either of us got a license. Whatever color it had been before, it wasn’t anymore. The outside was a solid shade of rust that clashed horrendously with the worn blue interior. Sloan loved that. Me? All I cared about was that the radio worked. Most of the time.
7. Following the Contract - Dead Boy Detectives (DCU) - Edwin/Charles Arranged Marriage Omegaverse AU - Rated E
(One-Shot)
Charles arrives at the Paine Estate with some degree of trepidation. He's not nervous. Not afraid. That would be silly.
He's getting married, not going off to war. There's nothing to be afraid of. Nothing at all. It's not as if he's marrying someone he's never met... oh wait!
8. Not a Nebula - Star Trek - Riker Meets Q2 - Rated G
(One-Shot)
A beep from the science console is almost immediately followed by a quiet hum from the ensign. The vulcan turned his head, brow almost furrowed, "Captain. A nebula has appeared on our latest scan."
"The Archnid Nebula? I thought we had another day before it would be in scanner range?" Riker rose from his seat, glancing briefly at the conn to check their speed and current position. They were exactly where he thought they'd be.
"No, captain, it's a different one. I am not familiar with it's composition." The ensign stepped back from their console as Riker approached, giving him a chance to see the data himself.
"This is an established nebula," Riker'a forehead wrinkled. He tapped at the console. "And we have no records of it before this scan." No wonder the ensign was so effected - their lips were pursed tightly as they squinted at the console.
9. The Curse of the Welshman - Merlin - Modern AU Merlin/Arthur Slowburn - Rated T
(currently on Chapter 4)
Morgana was always late – twenty minutes, almost to the second. Arthur was well-versed in Morgana Standard Time though, so he compensated. He arrived fifteen minutes late to the restaurant so as to keep the alone time with his father as short as possible. Uther was already there, of course, his strong jaw and wrinkled brow schooled into his polite face - reserved for the House of Lords and his son.
After fifteen more minutes Arthur started to consider drowning himself in the soup the server had brought for the table. Uther had spent most of the time ranting about Arthur’s grades, because taking a double course load wasn’t enough; he also had to ace everything. How dare he get a B in the Chaucer class Uther hadn’t wanted him to take in the first place?! The nerve!
10. A Legendary Experiment - Teen Wolf - Season 5 PWP AU - Rated E
(Completed)
His vision was blurry as he blinked his eyes open again. Hayden was gone. Blinking slowly, Liam turned on his side, gasping as his arm throbbed and his head swam.
Guess that answered the question of whether he was still hooked up to the machine pumping wolfsbane directly into his bloodstream. He groaned, head lulling to the side. There were shapes, people, a few yards away, where Hayden had been strapped to a table.
Someone was shouting. Yelling. He heard his name and Liam tried to focus, tried to clear the fog. Slowly, the figures sharpened. The Dread Doctors. The metal table.
Theo.
The one who was shouting was Theo.

What is the Interior Designing?
Interior design is a multifaceted discipline that involves the art and science of enhancing the interior of a space to create a more aesthetically pleasing and functional environment.
Tumblr media
It goes beyond just arranging furniture and selecting color schemes; it encompasses a deep understanding of architecture, human psychology, and the creative utilization of space.
Tumblr media
Interior designers work with various elements, including color, lighting, furniture, fabrics, and spatial arrangements, to transform an empty space into a cohesive and harmonious living or working area.
Tumblr media
Historical Evolution:
The history of interior design can be traced back to ancient civilizations where the layout and decoration of living spaces were driven by practical needs and cultural influences.
Tumblr media
As societies evolved, so did the concept of interior design. The Renaissance period witnessed a shift towards more ornate and decorative interiors, showcasing craftsmanship and opulence.
Tumblr media
In the 19th century, the Industrial Revolution brought about mass production, making furniture and decor more accessible. The 20th century saw the emergence of various design movements, such as Art Deco, Modernism, and Postmodernism, each leaving its mark on interior design.
The Role of Interior Designers:
Interior designers play a crucial role in shaping the ambiance and functionality of a space.
Tumblr media
They work closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and lifestyle, translating these into design concepts. Beyond aesthetics, interior designers also consider safety, accessibility, and environmental sustainability in their designs.
Tumblr media
Their expertise extends to selecting materials, coordinating color schemes, and integrating elements that enhance both the visual appeal and the functionality of a space.
Key Elements of Interior Design:
Space Planning: The effective use of space is a fundamental aspect of interior design. Designers must consider the layout of rooms, the flow of movement, and the optimal placement of furniture and fixtures to create a balanced and functional environment.
Color Palette: Colors have a profound impact on the mood and atmosphere of a space. Interior designers carefully choose color schemes that align with the client’s preferences and the intended purpose of the space. Warm colors may evoke a cozy feel, while cool colors can create a calm and serene ambiance.
Furniture and Furnishings: Selecting the right furniture is essential for both comfort and style. Interior designers choose pieces that complement the overall design, considering factors such as scale, proportion, and functionality.
Lighting: Lighting is a critical element that can dramatically influence the perception of a space. Interior designers strategically plan the placement of lighting fixtures, taking into account natural light, task lighting, and ambient lighting to create a well-lit and inviting atmosphere.
Textures and Patterns: Incorporating a variety of textures and patterns adds depth and interest to a space. Whether through textiles, wallpapers, or materials, designers use textures and patterns to enhance the visual appeal of interiors.
Accessories and Artwork: The careful selection and placement of accessories, artwork, and decorative elements contribute to the overall aesthetic of a space. These details reflect the personality of the inhabitants and add a finishing touch to the design.
Technology Integration: In the contemporary era, technology plays a significant role in interior design. From smart home systems to innovative lighting solutions, interior designers integrate technology seamlessly into their designs to enhance convenience and efficiency.
The Design Process:
The interior design process typically involves several stages, each crucial to the successful completion of a project:
Tumblr media
Initial Consultation: This phase involves meeting with the client to understand their requirements, preferences, and budget. It is an opportunity for the designer to gather information and establish a rapport with the client.
Concept Development: Based on the client’s brief, the designer develops a concept that outlines the overall theme, color scheme, and design direction. This stage may involve creating mood boards, sketches, or 3D renderings to visually communicate the proposed design.
Space Planning: The designer creates a detailed plan for the layout of the space, considering factors such as traffic flow, furniture arrangement, and functional zones.
Material and Furniture Selection: This stage involves choosing materials, finishes, and furniture that align with the design concept. Designers consider both aesthetics and functionality, ensuring that selected items meet the client’s needs.
Implementation: Once the design is finalized, the implementation phase begins. This includes coordinating with contractors, overseeing construction or renovation work, and managing the installation of furnishings and decor.
Finalization: The designer conducts a final walkthrough to ensure that every detail is in place. This may involve making any necessary adjustments and addressing any issues that arise during the implementation phase.
Client Approval: The completed project is presented to the client for approval. Client feedback is essential, and revisions may be made based on their input.
Project Completion: With client approval, the project is considered complete. Interior designers may provide additional services, such as maintenance recommendations or assistance with the arrangement of personal belongings.
Challenges and Trends:
Interior designers face various challenges, including staying updated with evolving design trends, working within budget constraints, and addressing the unique needs of each client. Additionally, environmental sustainability has become a growing concern, leading to a greater emphasis on eco-friendly design practices.
Tumblr media
Several trends have shaped the field of interior design in recent years. Minimalism, characterized by clean lines and a focus on simplicity, has gained popularity. Biophilic design, incorporating elements of nature into interiors, has also become a significant trend, promoting well-being and connection to the environment.
Tumblr media
The rise of smart homes has influenced interior design, with designers integrating technology seamlessly into their projects. From automated lighting systems to smart appliances, the incorporation of technology enhances both the functionality and efficiency of modern living spaces.
Educational and Professional Pathways:
Becoming an interior designer typically involves formal education and practical experience. Many designers hold a bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field. Some pursue advanced degrees or certifications to specialize in particular areas of design, such as sustainable design or healthcare design.
Tumblr media
Conclusion:
Interior design is a dynamic and evolving field that combines creativity, technical expertise, and a deep understanding of human behavior. It has a profound impact on the way people experience and interact with their living and working spaces.
Tumblr media
From historical influences to contemporary trends, interior design continues to shape the aesthetic and functional aspects of the built environment.
Tumblr media
As society evolves and individuals seek personalized and functional spaces, the role of interior designers remains pivotal. The ability to transform an empty room into a well-designed, harmonious environment requires a unique blend of artistic flair, technical proficiency, and a commitment to understanding and meeting the needs of clients.
Tumblr media
Whether creating a cozy home, a productive office, or a vibrant commercial space, interior designers contribute to the creation of environments that enhance the quality of life and reflect the unique personalities of those who inhabit them.

Home elevators are becoming an increasingly popular feature in modern Canadian homes, blending luxury with practicality to enhance the living experience. Among the brands making significant strides in this market, Nibav stands out for its innovative and user-friendly solutions. This article explores five compelling reasons why a Nibav home elevator is a worthy addition to any Canadian household, emphasizing comfort, accessibility, and style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Innovative Technology: Nibav home elevators embody cutting-edge technology, offering seamless and efficient operation that sets them apart. With features like vacuum lift technology, Nibav elevators operate more quietly and require less energy compared to traditional hydraulic or cable-driven systems. This innovation is not just about performance but also about promoting environmental sustainability, a value deeply ingrained in the Canadian way of life. The convenience of having a state-of-the-art elevator in your home cannot be overstated, providing a smooth and reliable means of floor-to-floor transportation that is both fast and safe.
Elegant Design Design: is at the heart of Nibav elevators, with each model boasting a sleek and sophisticated appearance that can complement any home decor. Whether your interior design leans towards the contemporary or the classic, Nibav’s range of finishes and styles ensures that your elevator will not just be a convenience but also a statement piece. The glass panels and customizable features allow natural light to permeate the space, making the elevator shaft seem less like a utilitarian necessity and more like a part of your home’s aesthetic charm.
Space Efficiency: One of the standout features of Nibav home elevators is their compact design, making them an ideal choice for homes with limited space. Unlike traditional elevators that require a separate machine room and substantial structural modifications, Nibav residential elevators are designed to fit into existing spaces with minimal intrusion. This is a game-changer for homeowners looking to add an elevator to their property without compromising on living space. The space efficiency of Nibav elevators also means that installation can be completed more quickly and with less structural impact, preserving the integrity and beauty of your home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enhanced Accessibility: Accessibility is a critical consideration in modern home design, and Nibav home elevators address this need beautifully. Whether it’s assisting an elderly family member with mobility challenges or simply making it easier to move heavy items between floors, a Nibav elevator enhances the functionality of your home. This feature not only improves the quality of life for all residents but also increases the property’s value by making it more appealing to a broader range of potential buyers in the future.
Safety and Reliability: Safety is paramount in any home improvement, and Nibav elevators are built with this principle in mind. Equipped with multiple safety features, including emergency stops, battery backup systems, and an in-cabin telephone, Nibav ensures that users are protected at all times. The reliability of these elevators is backed by rigorous testing and certification processes, giving homeowners peace of mind that their elevator meets the highest standards of safety and performance.
Conclusion: A Nibav home elevator is more than just a means of moving between floors; it is a reflection of innovative technology, elegant design, and thoughtful consideration for space efficiency, accessibility, and safety. For Canadian homeowners, investing in a Nibav elevator means not only enhancing the value and functionality of their property but also embracing a lifestyle characterized by comfort, convenience, and style. Whether you are looking to future-proof your home, accommodate the needs of aging relatives, or simply add a touch of luxury to your living space, a Nibav home elevator is an investment worth loving.

Silken Bonds of Alternate Realities
Civilian! Peter Parker x Spider-person! Reader
Kind of TASM! Peter Parker x Spider-person! Reader
Past Civilian! Gwen Stacy x Spider-person! Reader
Past Civilian! Peter Parker x Civilian! Gwen Stacy
In Another Universe TASM! Peter Parker x Civilian! Reader
I'm thinking your suit kinda looks like Gwen's from Into the Spider-Verse but nothing explicitly is mentioned about colors or aspects of the suit. Also reader is mentioned to be bisexual.
Summary: What happens when you're thrust into Earth-616's action with a familiar face.
Word Count: 678
My day started normal enough, but by the end I was fighting Molten Man in a building engulfed in flame.
The crumbling building made my throat tighten and constrict. Fortunately, one of Stephen Strange's portals appeared before me. I swiftly launched myself through it, hoping someone else could subdue Molten Man while I recovered.
"Thanks, Strange, I thought I was done for"
Then when I looked up to two kids around my age standing and staring at me.
"Ned, I said think of Spider-Man, not bring a cosplayer here?"
Confused, I turned back, but the portal had closed, leaving me in a room with two strangers.
~~~
Somewhere, across the multiverse...
Peter watched as the unstable building finally came down on itself. The interior structure completely destroyed. Still there was no sign of of his favorite Spider anywhere.
He quickly snapped a few photos for the Daily Bugle and circled the collapsed building, desperate to find any sign of his lover making it out. But hope seemed elusive.
~~~
Back on Earth-616...
"You've got to send me back home, Ned. Peter's going to be worried sick"
After introductions and two failed attempts to find this universe's Peter Parker, the situation felt increasingly hopeless.
"I think we have bigger problems here then that" MJ was frustrated, but you couldn't handle the rude remarks a second longer.
"Fine, then I'll figure it out myself." Before I could storm out, the Spider-Man closest to me grabbed my hand and spun me back around.
"That's not a good idea. Let's all calm down and figure out a solution that helps everyone." He slipped off his mask, revealing a face exactly like my Peter's.
"Peter?" Silently slipping your mask off to stare directly into his brown eyes.
"Y/n?"
~~~
On Earth-120703...
Someone who looks exactly like you is fast asleep in bed curled up in their Peter Parker's hoodie.
~~~
Back on Earth-616...
After a confusing conversation and much back-and-forth, Peter-3 and I finally understood each other.
Instead of me getting bitten at Oscorp, Peter Parker was. We barely knew each other at the time, exchanging small waves and smiles in the hallway. In both universes, our lover, Gwen Stacey, fell to her death. We were there to pick up each other's broken pieces.
As we worked together to cure the Lizard, the similarities between us were mind-boggling—reaching for the same things, laughing at familiar jokes.
Both of the other Spider-Men smiled at the wholesome interaction.
~~~
After an amazing battle on the scaffolding of the Statue of Liberty's reconstruction, everything seemed well until MJ fell off the side.
Putting years of trauma aside, Peter and I both jumped to save her. I caught her with a web, and Peter caught her to swing her to safety. A tearful moment passed between Peter and MJ before she hugged me as well.
Staring at each other, I jumped into Peter's arms, understanding the second chance we were given. We could practically feel Gwen hugging us both.
~~~
"I guess this is goodbye, Y/n," Peter-3 said, already disappearing to return to his home.
"We should do this again sometime."
"I would like that."
"Go home, Bugboy." He smiled as he faded away into his own universe, and I into mine.
~~~
On Earth-120703...
Swinging through the streets of New York with the Autumn air rushing past him he finally swung onto the fire escape of your shared apartment.
You stirred as he made his way into bed and held you close.
"Welcome home Bugboy"
~~~
In my universe...
I stood in the cool ashes of the once-standing building, then sprang into action, looking for Peter Parker.
Finding him writing furiously on a bench in the quiet part of Central Park, I walked up and sat down.
"So, what's up?"
He looked up from his notes with a shocked expression. Quickly, his brows furrowed, and he started lecturing me about letting him know I was safe and how the police told him to wait 24 hours before filing a report.
I kissed his lips gently, relaxing his features.
"I missed you too."

Generally speaking, the dry ice cleaning machine is an efficient, environmentally friendly, and multi-purpose cleaning equipment. Its working principle is based on high-speed spraying of dry ice particles to clean the surface through freezing and mechanical impact. The advantages of this cleaning method include being water-free, leaving no chemical residue, being non-abrasive, suitable for a variety of surfaces and materials, and having a wide range of applications in a variety of industries.
For potential users, when choosing a dry ice cleaning machine suitable for specific needs, factors such as cleaning objectives, working environment, cleaning effect requirements, production capacity and budget need to be considered. 2. Dry ice pellet machine(Dry Ice Granulator Machine):
Dry ice pelletizer is a piece of equipment specially used to turn liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) into solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) pellets.
Dry ice pelletizers usually deliver liquid CO2 into the machine through a liquid carbon dioxide supply system. Liquid carbon dioxide undergoes a series of cooling and pressurization processes, causing its temperature and pressure to rise. The pressurized liquid carbon dioxide passes through the nozzle or spray head and enters a relatively low-pressure environment. In this environment, liquid CO2 rapidly relaxes and expands, lowering its temperature and turning into a solid state. Because the temperature drops sharply, liquid CO2 turns into a gaseous state and forms tiny CO2 particles, known as dry ice particles.
The Dry ice machine can efficiently convert liquid CO2 into a large number of evenly distributed dry ice pellets. The advanced control system can achieve precise control of parameters such as temperature, pressure and particle size to ensure the production of dry ice that meets requirements. Some Dry Ice Granulator have adjustable mechanisms that allow the user to select different sizes of dry ice pellets. There is no need to add any chemicals during the manufacturing process, and the waste material is CO2 gas, so the dry ice pelletizer is considered a relatively environmentally friendly production method. Most Dry Ice Pelletizer Making Machine are equipped with automated operation functions, including automatic adjustment and monitoring systems to improve production efficiency.
Tumblr media
3. Dry Ice Block Machine(Dry ice briquetting machine):
A dry ice block press is a piece of equipment specifically designed to compress dry ice pellets or pieces into block form.
Dry ice block presses typically use previously produced dry ice pellets or chips as raw material. These pellets or chips are usually prepared through an overhead dry ice pelletizer or other means. Dry ice raw material is transported to the compression zone and heated to a certain level. The purpose of heating is to cause the dry ice pellets or blocks to begin to soften and melt. After heating, the softened dry ice is placed in a compression zone, where compression machinery or a hydraulic system exerts tremendous pressure to compress the dry ice into blocks. The compressed dry ice blocks pass through the cooling system, where they are quickly cooled and re-solidified to form solid dry ice blocks. The formed dry ice blocks enter the collector through the collection system, and then enter the packaging area through the conveyor system for final packaging.

Main feature:
Efficient production: The dry ice block press can efficiently convert dry ice pellets or fragments into large, solid dry ice.
Uniformity of dry ice blocks: Compression machinery and control systems ensure uniform shape and size of dry ice blocks, suitable for different applications.
Save space: Dry ice in block form is easier to store and transport than in crushed or pellet form, thus saving space.
Energy savings: Previously produced dry ice pellets or crumbs are used as raw material, reducing the need for additional refrigeration and helping to save energy.
Automated operation: Most modern dry ice block presses are equipped with automated operation functions, including automatic adjustment and monitoring systems to improve production efficiency.
Application areas:
Food and pharmaceutical transportation: Dry ice blocks are widely used in cold chain transportation to keep food and pharmaceuticals at low temperatures.
Laboratory and scientific research: In laboratories and scientific research fields, dry ice blocks are used to prepare low-temperature environments, such as refrigeration reagents.
Special effects production: Dry ice cubes are often used in film productions and stage performances to create special smoke and cold fog effects.
Environmentally Friendly Cleaning: Dry ice cubes are also used in the cleaning industry for cleaning and removing dirt, especially for electrical equipment cleaning.
Overall, the dry ice block press provides a reliable production method for producing large blocks of dry ice, suitable for the different needs of multiple industries.
RODUCTION CAPACITY
Evaluate the machine's productivity in pounds per hour. Make sure it fits your needs without sacrificing quality. To meet high-volume demand, faster production may be required.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
1. Size and portability:
Consider the physical size of the machine. A compact, portable unit may be better for versatility and ease of use, especially if you work from different locations or have limited space. If you need to move your cleaning equipment between job sites, choosing a dry ice blaster that is compact and portable may be key. This is important for tasks that require frequent movement or operation in limited spaces.
* Machine size: View the actual dimensions of your dry ice blaster, including length, width, and height. Make sure the machine is sized to fit your workplace and can be easily stored or carried.

* Power and energy requirements: Consider the power and energy requirements of your dry ice blaster. Portable devices are often easier to connect to different types of power sources, such as batteries, generators, or standard electrical outlets.
When selecting a dry ice blaster, considering size and portability can ensure the equipment is better suited to your job requirements, increasing operational flexibility and efficiency.
2. Automation and control:
Automation and control are crucial considerations when selecting a dry ice pelletizer and cleaning machine. Look for user-friendly controls and automation features. An intuitive interface and automation streamline operation, making the machine easier for operators of all skill levels to use.
* Intuitive interface: Choose a dry ice granulator/cleaner with an intuitive interface. An intuitive control panel or touch screen makes it easier for operators to understand and operate the equipment, reducing training time.
* User-friendly controls: Consider choosing a machine with user-friendly controls. Simple buttons, knobs or digital controls allow operators to easily adjust and monitor cleaning parameters.
* Default program: Look for machines with preset cleaning programs. Preset programs improve operational consistency and efficiency, reducing manual setup and adjustments by the operator.
* Automation features: Understand whether the machine has automated functions, such as automatic nozzle adjustment, cleaning trajectory planning, etc. These features simplify the cleaning process and reduce operator intervention.
* Remote control and monitoring: If possible, choose machines that support remote control and monitoring. In this way, operators can monitor and adjust the cleaning process remotely, increasing the operational flexibility of the equipment.
* Fault diagnosis and alarm system: Look for machines with fault diagnosis and alarm systems. These systems can detect and report potential problems in a timely manner, helping to quickly resolve faults and improve equipment reliability.
* Data logging and reporting: Some advanced dry ice cleaning machines have data logging and reporting capabilities that can record key parameters during the cleaning process. This is very useful for quality control and traceability.
* Programmability: If you need to personalize it for a specific application, consider choosing a machine with some programmability to accommodate different cleaning needs.
By choosing a dry ice pelletizer/cleaner with an intuitive interface, automated features, and user-friendly controls, you can increase the ease of use of your equipment, reduce training costs, and ensure consistent cleaning results among operators of different skill levels .

82). "You know I trust you, right?"
PROMPT
82). "You know I trust you, right?"
Lightening streaked across the sky, illuminating every shadow in sight in the darkness of night. It was a momentary relief from stumbling around blind, but it was the earth-shattering thunder that followed that was unbearable. The rain pounded the ground like angry fists against an assailant. Puddles the size of lakes formed in yards and drowned drains along the sidewalk.
It was a perfect summer storm.
It was a shame that not everyone enjoyed this kind of weather.
Then again, who could enjoy it when they were trudging through it?
Was it because he was out in it?
No.
Was it because he was alone and on edge?
No.
Matt certainly hated this weather. He had always despised storms, ever since he was a child. There was just something so menacing about every natural phenomenon and disaster; Matt couldn’t understand why anyone would choose to enjoy it.
He especially despised it because every splash of the rain soaked him from head to toe, impacting his body like a prodding, human finger.
Matt was a pet, a miniature biological construction humans created to emulate being human without providing them rights and simple liberties. Even though every pet possessed sentience, they were deemed lesser beings and sold off like the common guinea pig at the pet stores.
Matt had been to many homes in his past, causing trouble now and then, but he had finally done it.
He had escaped.
The little boy who insisted on playing soldier with him had forgotten to clamp the lock completely shut on Matt’s cage, and it took no time at all for the six inch tall humanoid to slip out of the cage, shimmy down the desk he was on using the few pieces of functional Army equipment he could find, and made a mad dash for the front door just in time for the father to come home. Though Matt’s skill was in intellect, thriving in literature and history, the skills he gained in the short time of playing soldier were already coming in handy.
His stealth and agility had increased dramatically, giving him the chance of escaping to the outside world.
Matt dared not stay inside the house, lest he be found by that intimidating child. Still, outside wasn’t a long-term viable solution either. The raging storm was preferable to the child, but just barely.
Matt half sped-walked, half jogged along the sidewalk, dodging raindrops and puddles, unsure of where he was going next. What he did know was he was done. He was done being a pet. He was done playing by rules he didn’t help create. He was just done. Matt didn’t want to go back into a cage, but he certainly didn’t want to try and survive outside. His current skillset wouldn’t get him through the rest of the week.
Was there even a way he could have a compromise of both?
He didn’t know.
What he did know was that he would drown in this torrential rain if he didn’t find cover soon.
The pet glanced around, eyes squinting in the spattering rain, as he tried to gain his bearings. His original home was nowhere in sight, but it was obvious he was still in the same neighborhood. The houses all had yards which looked miles long, but they weren’t very wide; that is, for human standards.
Unable to see very far, Matt made the only logical decision he could, which was to walk toward the first house he spotted with a completely dark interior. If the inside was dark, it meant no one was awake and it would make his entry into the residence ideal.
Sure enough, there was a place two houses away that stood still and silent. There were no lights on and, what was even better, the exterior was made of brick rather than vinyl, meaning he could get a good enough grip to climb the exterior of the home. He jogged along and was almost there by the driveway when two, blinding headlights appeared from behind and zoomed past, splashing the contents of the road puddles over him like a tidal wave.
Matt tried to regain his footing, but the water was like the clumsy fingers of the child he just left, and he was pulled away from the edge of the sidewalk right beside the yard gutters. Unlike the drainage gutters on the side of the road, which were practically overflowing and unable to empty, the yard gutters emptied into the neighborhood pond, and the water was raging like hungry rapids.
Heart pounding out of his chest in a numbing panic, Matt grappled with the water and thrashed around, trying to grab onto the blades of grass in hopes of stopping himself. The short blades of grass cut at his hands as he failed to keep hold on any of them. His unprepared lungs started burning with what little air filled them.
Tumbling and tossing through the water, it was clear there was nothing to grab onto now. Matt lunged with all his strength and kicked off of something solid, launching him in a random direction. Thankfully, that direction was up. Head breaking the surface, Matt was able to take in a single, life-saving breath as he spotted the gaping maw of the drainage pipe ahead.
Matt remembered reading something about currents dragging people out to sea and that, to survive, a person needed to swim sideways. It was the only option at this point. The pet thrashed in the water, not being a proficient swimmer, and tried to make it to the edge.
He was almost there, but two more passing cars sent a wall of water taller than him crashing down into the yard gutters. He gulped down a mouthful of water by mistake, expelling what precious air was in his lungs. By some miracle, Matt was tossed onto the other side of the stream, but not far enough to make it to safety.
Losing strength, Matt reached out with what felt like the last of his strength and, to his surprise, latched onto the metal rim of the gaping hole of the pipe. Also, to his surprise, Matt was near the surface and able to take a quick gasp of air before the water crested over his head again.
Matt’s body was engulfed entirely by the water again, and his grip was failing.
There was a horrid, sinking feeling in his chest. It was a thought that occurred frequently for the pet, and it was this: they – pets – were not made for this world. It was too big. It was too much. Wanting something as great, as big, as freedom was too much for a little pet like him.
Fingers sliding off of the edge of the metal pipe, burning as it cut further into his already injured hands, Matt fought to hold the last of his breath, determined to stay conscious until the end when the water broke again.
The relief of sucking in a partial breath of air was immediately replaced by the current sweeping him into the darkness of the tunnel. Blind and breathless, Matt tumbled through the metallic tube, knocking against the ridged edges and scraping against the limbs wedged in the tube.
Matt felt his body limply being dragged through the rapids before his body slammed into another hard surface. The last of his air escaped his lungs; however, to his complete amazement, his lungs sucked in air and not water as he gasped for air. Instinctually, his body wretched and the water in his lungs spewed out of his mouth and nose. The pet rolled onto his side and continued to cough and vomit up the unwanted water from his body.
It wasn’t until his body calmed that allowed his body to stop tensing that he realized something. There was something off about the surface he was on, specifically because it curved to fit his body and possessed a warmth of its own.
Matt forced his eyes open and, instantly, his heart sank, and the tension returned to his body. The surface was warm and flexible because it was the hand of a human. The distinct swirl of the person’s fingerprints was clear now in his blurry vision.
Minutes. His freedom could be measured in minutes and now he was back in the captive clutches of a human. He looked directly in front of him at the churning water in the drainage ditch of the yard. Was it worth jumping back into the water and risk drowning again? Just to get away?
He lost his chance in a moment as the human stood slowly from crouching, their other hand coming up to form a partial dome over him and the fingers of the hand he was on curling upward, forcing him into the human’s palm. Matt turned around indignantly and glared with what distain he could muster at the human holding him.
Immediately, he met the gaze of a young woman with big, blue eyes. Her hood was up, but he could still make out a mess of curly blond hair under the pale green raincoat. She seemed to be staring at him expectantly, and Matt thought about saying something, but a streak of lightening followed by the cacophonous crash of thunder. Anything he would have said would have been drowned out by the voice of the sky, so he kept quiet instead, locking his jaw and staring at the woman venomously.
After a moment, the woman nodded and walked forward, keeping her hands level. It surprised Matt to see her fingers remain splayed rather than pinching or grabbing his torso. What was even more surprising was the girl walked immediately to the unlit house he planned on infiltrating moments before being washed away.
Matt continued to sit as he watched the woman fish out some keys from her pocket, slip them into the lock, and push herself inside just as another crack of thunder tore through the sky. Despite the raging storm, the woman seemed unbothered by how loud everything was.
This, however, was the least of his concerns.
He could actually care less about the human woman who was holding him. What the pet cared about was getting away as fast as possible. Being held was less than desirable on any given day, especially now.
The woman reached over with her free hand that Matt wasn’t sitting in and flicked the switch. No light. She tried the next one. No light.
“Power is out,” informed Matt snarkily. The woman sighed and walked through the entryway and over to a cabinet near the refrigerator. Slightly struggling with just her one hand, she began rummaging through the contents of the cabinet. This gave Matt enough time to readjust in her hand and peered over the edge. There was a countertop about a foot below the hand he was in. “You could put me down you know.”
The woman didn’t acknowledge him and continued searching for something.
Matt rolled his eyes.
Great. Another human who won’t listen to me. Another arrogant piece of work who will baby and toy with me. Brilliant.
“Hey, wouldn’t it be better to put me on the larger counter? Looks like there are some emergency flashlights over there,” suggested Matt. Still, no response. She wasn’t even looking at him!
Instead, and seemingly finding what she was looking for, the girl pulled out a white rectangular kit and pulled it from the depths of the cabinet. She then carefully turned and set the box down on the countertop in the middle of the kitchen.
Even more perfect! In the middle of the room where I can’t get away!
Matt watched the woman turn only now and pull two of the emergency flashlights out of the wall with one hand and turned them on, shining them up onto the ceiling so soft, white light reflected off of the white paint.
Carefully, she lowered the hand Matt was sitting on until the back of her hand rested on the countertop. Matt, in a flash, rolled off her hand and stood at his full height. Only now did she look at him once again, her big blue eyes absorbing his form.
Her big blue eyes were thoughtful, and it felt like she could look right through him. Matt didn’t like it one bit. Moving slowly, the woman crouched as her eyes shifted from his arms to his legs to his torso, then back to his face. Once again, she seemed to be staring at him expectantly.
Matt kept his body rigid and dared to take a step forward when he felt a sudden, burning sensation shoot up his leg. He winced and suddenly noticed the scrapes, cuts, and splinters through the torn fabric of his clothes. The dim light was enough to see that the puddle of water that had formed around him was discolored, taking on a reddish, pinkish hue.
Blood.
It wasn’t enough to be alarming or worried, but it was still an immediate problem. Matt wanted to get a better view of his injuries, but he didn’t want to undress in front of this woman either. He had been forced to endure dressing and undressing for the pleasure of his “owners” one too many times already.
Then again, he might not have a choice.
In his peripheral vision, he saw fingers inching toward him, hovering a few inches above the counter and approaching him slowly.
No.
Matt glared up venomously and took a step back, fists clenched and raised in self-defense, as if punching an oncoming finger would make it stop.
“Don’t touch me!” he shouted loudly. This combination of actions seemed to get the woman’s attention, and suddenly her eyes were intently focused on his mouth. Her hand stopped moving forward and, unbelievably, retracted a few inches away. She bit her lower lip and remained concentrated on every subtle change in his features.
Matt couldn’t believe it for a moment. Had he just startled her? Or was this her listening?
With nothing to lose, he shouted again.
“Leave me alone, got it?” he asked. The woman once again remained focused on his lips. Her eyes squinted, a puzzled look locking her features into a quizzical expression. Her eyes darted over to the white kit with the red cross on it as she gestured to his body with the hand that was closest to him. “I can handle it. I can patch myself up. I don’t need your help. Your hands are too big, and I don’t want you touching me. Got it?”
The woman watched his face intently before her eyes widened. She bit her lip awkwardly. Matt’s heart started thumping harder against his ribs, making his ears ring. Had he said too much? Was she angry now? She didn’t look angry.
The woman reached over to the white kit and opened it, splaying it on its side to reveal all of the bandages, patches, and salves inside. A single role was enough to wrap Matt like a mummy; and, for that instant, he wondered if she was about to bind him up so he couldn’t move.
This didn’t happen.
Instead, the woman placed a loose fist on her chest and rubbed her chest clockwise a few times before holding up one finger and leaving the room entirely. Matt’s stomach turned in knots, feeling like he had been flipped upside down and dropped, as he watched this woman leave the room.
Did she just listen? Or is she getting something else? Oh no… what if she’s getting a cage? No. Not again. Not today.
Despite his sliced palms and bodily injuries, Matt walked over to the edge and peered over. There was nothing to grab onto. He looked back at the medical kit. Was there something in there he could use?
Matt walked back over to the opened container and rummaged through the packages that were nearly the length of his leg. Tweezers. Tape. Rolls of gauze. Safety pins. There were other things, but there were already some promising items.
Sadly, he had only begun to pull the gauze out when he heard the padding footsteps of the woman returning. His stomach churned again as his head throbbed. She was coming back! Why? Why couldn’t he just be left to his own devices?
What was worse was that he heard someone speaking.
No! She’s bringing someone else out here to gawk at me.
He could hear part of the conversation as the voice got closer, but only one side of it.
“Slow down, will you? Yes! Slower walking and slower talking. You found someone outside? And you just brought him in? Were you not watching ‘Forensic Files’ with me? This is exactly how we get ki-”
The woman stepped into the room and Matt suddenly understood why the voice was quiet. One hand was cupped and, crouched in the palm of her hand, was another pet. Her other hand was free and was pointing and making different gestures. While Matt didn’t understand what each individual gesture meant, he knew what it meant for the woman.
She was deaf.
The sickening taste of bile rose in his throat.
This woman got a specialized pet to be her translator? Some kind of therapy pet? He could only guess what that mean for him and what was going to happen next.
In the meantime, the pet, also a woman, leaned over the edges of the woman’s fingers and stared hard at Matt before turning back and gesturing to be set down on the countertop. The human woman grinned and made a few gestures, which caught the pet’s eye. The pet rolling her eyes, she turned back to her human and nodded while gesturing and speaking out loud.
“Yes, yes. I know you’re smarter than that. You wouldn’t just let some rando in the house.” The pet turned and stepped off of the human’s hand. She was just a little shorter than Matt and had sharp, narrow features. Her dark brown hair looked like it had a reddish hue in the dim flashlight glow, but Matt could easily make out the pet’s hazel-brown eyes. The pet grinned and glanced back at the human to finish a different, snarky remark. “At least, you wouldn’t bring a human sized rando into the house.”
The human rolled her eyes and gestured to Matt, who had backed up involuntarily five steps at this point. The pet readjusted her shirt and booty shorts, nodded, and looked back to Matt, speaking and signing at the same time.
“Sorry about that. I was half asleep when she came in and woke me up. I guess introductions are in order. I’m Nivea. Gargantia over there is Kaylee. Wave ‘hi’ Kaylee,” said Nivea. The human woman, Kaylee, smiled hesitantly and waved.
“Figures,” muttered Matt. “They always get what they want.”
“Wow, you’re friendly, and beat up. What happened to you? Rough and tumble with a lawn mower?” asked Nivea, a cheeky smirk planted firmly in the corner of her mouth. When Matt scowled at her instead, Nivea shrugged and dismissed her statement with a wave of her hand. “Don’t answer that. Now, come on. Loosen up. You’re safe. Let’s get you cleaned up and bandaged.”
Nivea went to move forward just as Matt took a few more deliberate steps backward.
“I don’t need your help. Neither of you,” he spat. Nivea, still speaking and signing, retreated those few steps she had taken forward.
“Woah, easy there buddy. We’re not the bad guys here. We’re just trying to patch you up,” Nivea replied, glancing back at Kaylee.
“I don’t need help from a human or her pet. I’m done, you hear me? Done,” stated Matt angrily. At this, Nivea folded her arms across her chest and put her weight onto one leg, a disbelieving look on her face. Matt bristled at her confrontational stance, but was surprised to hear what she had to say next.
“Excuse me? Pet? You want to rethink that slur buddy?” asked Nivea. Confusion temporarily tongue-tied Matt as Nivea continued speaking without signing. “I don’t know who you think you are, but I’m not a pet; not here at least, and certainly not with Kaylee.”
Nivea watched this new guy’s reaction, which was mixed and muddled at best, before casting another glare at Kaylee and then back to her. He was still bristled suspiciously.
“Right,” he stated. “That’s why you let her carry you around like some kind of lap dog.”
At this, both Nivea and Kaylee winced, which surprised Matt. Nivea rolled her eyes before looking back to Kaylee.
“Kaylee, could you run some warm water in the sink? Our belligerent house guest probably wants to clean up before getting bandaged. It’ll help prevent infection,” Nivea said aloud as she signed.
“You’re going to bathe me? Like some infant? No chance,” Matt stated defiantly. Nivea shot a glare back at Matt and kept signing.
“You look like a grown-up. I think you can manage yourself,” said Nivea as she turned back to Kaylee. “Can you believe this guy? Wants us to pamper him with a spa day.” Kaylee, who looked disheartened, managed a smile in the corner of her lips before walking over to the kitchen sink and turning on the tap. After a moment, she left the kitchen, leaving Nivea and Matt alone.
With the two of them alone, Nivea turned her attention back to Matt.
“There, she’s busy doing something. Now, could you lose the hostile act and talk to me?” said Nivea as she folded her arms across her chest again. Matt took another hard look at his fellow pet. If this was some kind of scam, it was a good one. At the same time, there was something about Nivea’s face, her focused hazel-brown eyes that was genuine, both with how annoyed she was as well as her willingness to help.
“Talk to you?” asked Matt. “Like what? Feelings? What happened to me? You want the whole life story?”
“Okay, bud, sarcasm isn’t going to help you. Knock it off. Let me guess. You were passed around from family to family? Not so great bonding time? Lots of hands? Lots of unwanted touching? Tossing, squeezing, undressing? I’ll even guess that you weren’t left outside. Meaning you ran away?” asked Nivea, stating his whole life’s story as if she were there. Then again, it wasn’t hard to guess the life of a pet.
“Name one pet who hasn’t had that kind of life,” muttered Matt. He felt a twinge in his leg and a burning sensation in his arms and palms where he was injured.
“Well, then you of all people should be able to tell a good human from a bad one, right?” challenged Nivea. Matt couldn’t argue with this statement. Within the first few minutes of knowing a lot of the humans he came into contact with, he was able to read what kind of person they really were. There was only one who seemed decent, a man with multi-colored eyes who came into a second chance shelter, but Matt was already reserved at that time, so the man “adopted” a younger, female pet instead.
“Sure. It’s probably some kind of instinct they programmed into our genes,” replied Matt.
“Whatever you want to call it, use it now. Okay? Kaylee, the woman probably looking for soap and clothes for you right now, is one of the good ones. Did you get that sense from her? Think about it for two seconds, without this aggressive front of yours, and tell me if you really think Kaylee is one of the bad ones,” said Nivea.
Matt clenched his jaw and, despite his best efforts, considered Nivea’s words. When Kaylee pulled him out of the water, her fingers were splayed. She kept her fingers opened and palms cupped when she carried him instead of pinching his torso in between her fingers.
Kaylee didn’t listen when he spoke not because she was ignoring him, but because she couldn’t hear him. Even though that was annoying, Matt had to admit that Kaylee watching his lips and bringing Nivea to help make him comfortable and to communicate was, at the very least, considerate.
Despite his immediate reaction, Matt had to admit to himself that Kaylee did seem like one of the good humans.
As he came to this realization, Nivea smiled knowingly and nodded slowly.
“Seems like you got it,” she stated plainly. Matt bit the inside of his cheek before finding himself curious about his fellow pet.
“How’d you get here then?” he asked.
“I was the teacher’s pet, literally,” said Nivea sighed.
“You’re kidding,” said Matt, feeling his insides churn with the thought.
“Yeah, middle schoolers. Hormones and angst and growing pains. One too many prodding fingers had me just as angry as you are right now. It wasn’t until Kaylee showed up that I felt like someone was listening to me,” she said quietly before chuckling lightly. “No pun intended.”
“So, you asked her to take you? Or did she rescue you on her own?” he inquired. Nivea laughed at this question, making Matt tense slightly before he spotted the smile on Nivea’s face. He thought she was laughing at him, but really she was laughing at the question.
“It was a bit of both? She helped get me out and I accidentally hid in her bag at the end of the school day. I was a stowaway, but she wasn’t really mad about it. She was actually really surprised to find me,” said Nivea. “She offered to let me stay here not as a pet, but as a friend. I took her up on it for a while, living quietly under her bed unbothered, but then I actually left and lived outside for about a week and a half before coming back.”
“You left? And she let you?” asked Matt. Nivea nodded.
“I wanted to see if I could live on my own, but it was hard. Kaylee left out things to help me, and I realized I could survive on my own. Still, I decided to come back because I saw her one day sitting outside alone. She looked so sad, and I realized we both needed a friend. It made more sense, even though we could make it on our own. We could be stronger together,” explained Nivea. “Now we’re friends.”
“Friends,” stated Matt, his tone disbelieving. “With a human.”
“Hey, that difference doesn’t matter to anyone but yourself, at least it doesn’t matter here,” said Nivea. “And, if you let her, she could be the same to you.”
Matt listened quietly until Nivea finished, hearing something he didn’t think possible. A pet had escaped with the help of human. This human let a pet live freely not only in the home, but also outside. Could this be a safe place?
Matt didn’t have long to ponder this to himself before Nivea directed her attention to him.
“Now, care to give me a name at least? You don’t have to give me your whole life’s story. You don’t have to tell me anything if you don’t want to. I’d just think it’s common courtesy, one person to another.”
Matt, still rigid, sighed and nodded.
“Matthew,” he said quietly. “My name is Matthew, but I usually go by Matt if the human cared to ask.”
“Matthew slash Matt. I like it. Nice to meet you,” greeted Nivea. “Is it okay if I tell Kaylee your name when she comes back in? Or would you rather introduce yourself?” At which point, Kaylee returned with a few small plastic cups filled with what looked like different soaps as well as a couple of washcloths. She didn’t make eye-contact when she came in, instead walking quickly and quietly as though she were intruding and simply came by to drop off these things.
Nivea gave Matt a nod toward Kaylee, but Matt froze up the moment Kaylee came back into view. Even with Nivea’s prompting nod, Matt felt tongue tied once again. Kaylee set these things in the sink and turned to leave. Nivea sighed and shook her head before going over to one of the lights and pressing it multiple times so it would click on and off. Matt realized after a few seconds that this was to get Kaylee’s attention, and it worked.
Kaylee turned and glanced at Matt before looking over at Nivea.
“Mind if I come with? He probably wants some privacy while he gets clean,” said Nivea as she signed. Kaylee smiled and nodded, stepping over to the countertop and laying the back of her hand flat against it. Without hesitation, Nivea stepped onto Kaylee’s hand, using her thumb as a handhold for balance. One-handed, Kaylee made a few signs to Nivea, who quickly signed back. Kaylee, seemingly insistent, signed a few more things to Kaylee. Nivea sighed and turned back to Matt.
“She doesn’t want to make you uncomfortable, but she wants to know if you need a lift to the sink over there. We have ladders and lines in place, but you look pretty banged up. Just a thoughtful gesture,” said Nivea, who was once again signing and speaking so Kaylee could understand.
Matt stared at Nivea, who was standing of her own free will on Kaylee’s hand, and then to the human who arguably helped save his life. The comment about size not mattering to them seemed to be true and, after a moment’s hesitation, Matt nodded.
“Yes please,” he said stiffly. Nivea looked pleased with herself, but said nothing and, instead, stepped off to the side so Matt could join her. It took all his will power, but Matt hobbled over, now feeling his body aching as the adrenaline allowed the pain to creep into his senses, and stepped on. Nivea held onto Matt’s arm and smiled reassuringly.
“Don’t worry. She’ll go slow for you,” stated Nivea. Kaylee lifted her hand after Nivea signaled it was okay to move and practically glided over to the sink, which was running fresh, warm water. She laid her hand down in the sink, letting Matt step off while Nivea pointed out the things Kaylee laid out. The bowls were indeed different soaps. There were several small washcloths and two larger ones, one for him to use as a towel to dry and the other to sit on while bandaging himself. There was an easy-to-use ladder nearby and Nivea explained their flashlight system if he needed to get their attention.
“Oh, and don’t worry about clothes right now. I’ll help pick out something that’ll probably fit from what I have and then we’ll go get you something better tomorrow. Use the flashlight when you’re done and we’ll bring you some clothes. Got it?” asked Nivea. Matt nodded and looked back at the slightly steaming water, ready for the steam to sooth his muscles.
“Thank you,” he said. Nivea shrugged and turned, signaling for Kaylee to lift her away.
Matt watched the both of them leave and set to work pealing off his clothes when he was sure he was alone. The water burned and stung his opened wounds but soothed the aching tension from his muscles. He decided to take his time in the sink and clean everything thoroughly. If he decided to leave, this might be the last time he would get a shot at a good shower on his own.
In the meantime, Kaylee and Nivea retreated to the living room, which was still in eyesight of the kitchen and the lights. The moment they sat down, Nivea knew exactly what Kaylee was feeling. It was plastered all over her face.
Even though she wouldn’t take it personally later, Matt’s reaction felt personal now.
Nivea sat on Kaylee’s palm and watched her expressions for a few minutes before shoving Kaylee’s thumb to get her attention. Kaylee, like clockwork, nodded and looked to her small friend.
“Hey, I see what you’re thinking,” signed Nivea. Kaylee looked away, which prompted Nivea shoving Kaylee’s thumb again. “Hey! Don’t look away from me like that.”
Kaylee looked back and nodded.
“Sorry,” she signed, turning her hand so Nivea could sit on Kaylee’s knee and so she could use both hands to sign. “I know he is probably scared and everything. It still hurts.”
“He’s been through a lot. You know what I was like when we met, right?” signed Nivea back. Kaylee managed a small smile and nodded. Both of them, at the same time, made the sign for “moron,” which let them share a smile.
“I know. I just hope he’s okay. I saw him drowning and… well… I just wanted to help,” Kaylee signed.
“And you did,” said Nivea, forcefully signing so Kaylee knew she was emphasizing her words. “Trust takes time. Let’s give him that.”
“Yeah,” Kaylee sighed and bit her lower lip, averting her eyes slightly from Nivea’s gaze.
“Hey,” Nivea signed after a minute. Kaylee’s big blue eyes captured the movement and looked back to her friend. “You know I trust you, right?” Kaylee smiled and nodded, reaching up and opening her left hand to splay her fingers. Nivea pushed herself up and laid against her friend’s palm, wrapping her arms around her fingers, and squeezing in a makeshift hug.
They waited in silence until the light in the kitchen flashed on and off, a signal for them to return. The pair retrieved a few shirts and pants that could possibly fit their guest and went into the kitchen.
Matt, in the meantime, finished cleaning his wounds and thought long and hard about the interaction he had just watched. While he was still uneasy, it was hard to deny that there was an obvious friendship between pet and human that was filled with mutual respect and open communication.
When they returned, Matt slipped into the clothes while Nivea and Kaylee prepped some medical supplies to bandage his wounds. Nivea helped secure the bandages and, after some silence between them, Matt decided to extend the only olive branch he could willingly offer.
“Nivea,” he said quietly.
“What?”
“How do you sign ‘thank you’?”
Nivea’s hazel-brown eyes snapped up and latched onto Matt’s eyes before a smile crept onto her face. She showed him, which was like blowing a kiss, and tried to stifle a grin as Matt finally worked up the courage. He waited for Kaylee to glance at him timidly before waving her down. Instantly, her big blue eyes were entirely focused on him. It was almost unnerving, but Matt was committed.
“Kaylee,” he said before signing. “Thank you.”
It was a big step in the right direction, and it was all that was needed.
A little gesture that would domino into a lasting friendship between the mismatch trio.

“I love you, but that’s a terrible idea.”
Allison’s face falls, and Stiles immediately feels like the worst person in the world—but traveling around in a fucking camper van during the summer isn’t his idea of a good time for a number of reasons. Allison may be able to get away with not showing for three days and still smell good, but he and Derek certainly can’t. Derek hates being in small, enclosed spaces, Stiles hates trying to have sex with his partners in small, enclosed spaces, and Allison hates it when he and Derek’s bickering-as-foreplay turns into flat out fighting, which is just a given if they don’t have enough room to get away from each other for an hour every day.
But Stiles has already lost this fight, because Allison’s moved onto giving Derek a hopeful look, and Derek is a total sucker. Judging by the heart-eyes he’s throwing in her direction, Stiles is ten seconds away from disaster.
Time for damage control.
--
Derek buys a new van, because of course he does. Stiles gets the distinct impression he’s only humoring Allison as they go to look at used, older models throughout a dreary March, but he keeps his mouth shut and tries to be complimentary as they look at banged up cabinets and seats that don’t turn completely.
He’d like to say he was surprised when Derek drives them to a dealership in early April, but truly the only surprise is that he bothered to include them in the purchase at all.
--
He plays the dutiful boyfriend role throughout May, after the van—interior customized to Allison’s liking, though only in terms of colors and not important issues like bed size and storage space—has been picked up. He follows her around store after store, giving his opinions on sheets and blankets and little tchotchkes that he doesn’t think belong in a cramped van at all. He truly doesn’t care what color blankets they get or if the kitchen utensils have navy blue or orange silicone, but it makes Allison happy when he pretends to, and he does thoroughly enjoy the way she expresses her appreciation by blowing him on freshly laundered sheets, so he doesn’t put up a fight when it ends up taking all his free time.
They spend the week before they leave figuring out details; Derek goes to the store and comes back with a mobile hotspot, which Stiles promptly returns for a better one. Allison makes them pack and repack until everything fits neatly in the little storage space they have, comes up with solutions for dirty laundry and the camping equipment Derek insists on bringing, surprises Stiles with a desk organizer so he can work comfortably at the table that folds out from the wall.
He still thinks the whole idea is insane.
--
It’s not until Derek pulls out of the driveway on the first day of June that they realize they did all the planning to be ready for the trip, but never discussed where they’d be going. Stiles solves the problem by assigning them months—Allison gets to pick where they go first, Derek takes over in July, and he’ll wait until August. Derek looks surprised when he volunteers to be last, which just shows that Stiles is smarter than any of them because going last practically guarantees he’ll see everything he’s always wanted to see. He knows without a doubt that Allison will take them to the bigger cities, and that Derek will find the most unsuitable stretches of wilderness and small mountain towns, and by the time August hits, half his list will be checked off.
So when Allison announces that she wants to drive up the coast and into Oregon, Stiles isn’t surprised at all.

The first day goes well, but the night does not. Derek’s elevated body temperature is great when they’re in their air conditioned house—not so much in the van. There’s a brief consideration of opening the back doors for airflow but while Derek’s a great warning system for anything going bump in the night, they’d forgotten to bring mosquito netting and he’s useless against bugs. They’re jammed into the tight space of the bed in a way they haven’t been since they tried all sleeping together on Allison’s dorm bed in college, and Stiles gives up on trying to get any sleep the second time he’s kneed painfully in the stomach.
The passenger seat may not have been built to sleep in, but it’s where he ends up the first two nights.
They finally end up in Portland on the third, where Derek promptly drops him and Allison off at a hotel and disappears. Stiles is so tired he can’t make himself care where Derek took off to, and he just barely manages a shower before he passes out on the seemingly endless space of the king sized bed.
They stay in Portland for a few days, but when they collect the van from the valet the morning they leave the first thing Stiles sees is a brand new light-weight blanket spread out on the bed, and sheer netting installed to a new track on the top of the double doors.

June ends up passing more quickly than he realized, but they settle into a routine by the end of it. Allison gets them up and ready to go in the morning, packing everything away efficiently and coaxing them awake with coffee and breakfast. Derek works for a few hours while Stiles drives, then they switch mid-morning. His job isn’t as flexible as Derek’s, and he doesn’t work for a family business that will allow him to take the entire summer off like Allison, so he ends up staying behind a lot while they hike, run, or do some other physical activity he has no desire to take part in. But they’re good about keeping the things he is interested in to the days he’s off, and they do more than their fair share of driving so he doesn’t feel like he’s missing out on too much.
By early evening he puts his laptop away and helps with whatever tasks need to be done before they stop for the night—finding a place to eat, making a grocery list and cooking, or setting up their campsite. They figure out how to arrange themselves in bed so they’re all comfortably wrapped up in each other, but the first and only time they try having sex in the van Stiles forgets where he is and hits his head on the top hard enough that he sees stars.
Sometimes they stay at a campsite for only a night, sometimes they linger. Every few days Allison finds them a hotel and makes sure their laundry gets cleaned, takes inventory of everything they need to replace or what they can get rid of, and Stiles is surprised to realize he likes the life they’ve settled into.

July brings them to Alaska.
There’s only so much to do that doesn’t involve hunting and fishing, which neither Stiles nor Allison are a fan of, so when Derek requests a few days off on his own to go commune with nature as a wolf, they stock up on used books and cheap games and drive out as far as the van will go. Reading becomes tedious after the first day, they lose too many game pieces on the second to play them again, so they turn to the most basic form of self-entertainment they can think of: they have sex, and a lot of it.
Stiles had thought that after seven years together all their fantasies and desires were well known; three days alone with Allison in Alaska proves him wrong.
--
When it’s his turn, he takes them back east. They’d made it as far as Chicago with Allison in charge, but he takes them all the way to the coast. It takes almost a week to make it there with minimal stops, and they crash the first night in Maine and sleep hard. The van isn’t as useful through Massachsettes and New York as it had been on the west coast, but neither Derek or Allison seem to mind that they’re staying mainly in hotels at night and spending the days in museums and baseball stadiums. It takes some adjusting each time they climb back in the van to move to the next city, but it feels almost like going back home whenever he slides into the small bed with the two people he loves most.

Allison lingers in bed on their last morning.
Stiles knows they’re supposed to get up, that they’d agreed to be on the highway heading back to California no later than nine, but he’s pretty sure it’s already past that by the time she sighs and says they should get going.
He can feel Derek’s arm tighten around her waist, and Stiles looks up and meets his gaze, coming to silent agreement before brushing a kiss on Allison’s cheek.
“I love you,” he says, running his fingers through her hair, “but that’s a terrible idea.”
