I know this coming out a day late, don't judge me. So sorry for the long break anyways, between basketball practice and studying for AP tests and finals I've been SUPER busy.
So I still have my crush on Bee but I still can't figure out whether she even likes girls or not. Like it would make sense with her personality, but I don't wanna just wear judge too quickly and then her be like super homophobic or something. Max (my former crush) is super supportive of me having a crush on her and we are like besties now. Which is a relief. I didn't wanna have him crushing on me super hard while I'm falling for a woman.
TW Emotional Abuse
I had to put a trigger warning for this next section. If you feel this would trigger you, skip this part. I'll put a marker where it ends. Stay safe.
Trigger Warning starts here
Ok so yesterday my mom got super mad about my sister not doing her shoulder stretches (she has hyper mobility in her shoulder) exactly when my mom wanted and exactly how my mom wanted. So what does she do, naturally, she only yells at me on the car ride to my basketball practice. How do I know she's only yelling at me you may ask, Im the only other one in the car, my sister stayed home. She starts yelling at me saying I'll never be successful and I will never be able to live on my own and how I should be grateful that's she "rides on me as hard as she does", because if she didn't I would be just like her and FAIL OUT OF COLLEGE. She also tells me how I'm always going to end up like 500 pounds and I can't come crawling to her for weight loss surgery when I'm older. (Mind you I am 6'0 and in pretty decent shape, when she is 5'6 on a good day and probably can run like 2 feet without collapsing.) Lady is just making up scenarios at this point. She is just displacing her trauma on to me and I hate it, but I keep telling myself, "Only two more years." Then im in college and my dad said I can visit as often or as rare as I want. I can't wait to move out.
Trigger Warning End
I took my math and chem finals today and MY CHEM TEACHER SAID WE CANT GET OUR SCORES UNTIL NEXT WEEK. I think I did okay but like I don't know if did. I have no finals tomorrow surprisingly and I have my english final thursday and my history final aswell.
That's all I have for today. Can't wait to see bee at basketball practice today :)
With all love,

How should you make your kids feel good about themselves going into their hardest final?
A) Encourage them and offer to help them study
B) Ensure they know that it’s alright to take a break and make sure they are taking care of themselves
or
C) Yell at them for not waking up early enough and saying they are a failure for not being studious enough
#your grades dont define your worth as a human and you can have a fantastic and full life even without an A in ap#chem your sophomore year#like seriously what the fuck#i have my final at 2 right?? and i usually get up at 8 and start working at 9#I use the extra hour to eat and wake up my mind and my body so i can actually be productive#but today i also have two extra hours than normal so i have a lottttt of fucking time to study?????? but its not like im gonna use every min#bc breaks are important amiright ladies#but apparently im just a lazy fucking bitch who will never do anything in her life#thanks mom#shes likeif you fail this test or dont do well you will never be anything but excuse#last night you were like#like bitch#last week we had a chapter test and i was so stressed abt it that i was almost unable to talk for the next two periods after it#trust me im working hard but i can only do so much and my brain is already so fucked up that its really hard to do some of this shit yknow#and like#i want to do more and do better but some things i just#cant#yknow????#i know you are in denial of anything being mentally wrong with me bc you dont want me to be not normal but#im not?????? like getting that fucking anxious abt a test (especially after youve taken it) isnt normal or okay!!!!#i need therapy and help but if i say anything to her she will be like hmmmmm this is the kinda stuff you have to be locked away for#ah yes mother having a panic attack after you are screamed at and threatened to be isolated but at the same time lose like all your privacy#is smth to be locked away for#and like yeah i might need it at some point but that is Not the shit to threaten your kids with to try and get them to calm tf down bc i may#stop crying but it is Not bc im calm its because im scared :)))))#like bitch you have already thrown water on me to try and get me to calm down and guess what??? it didnt work bc getting water splashed onto#your face after ~trauma~ isnt very fun but you dont know that bc if i tell you abt that you will just think im lying and trying to get#attention#but thats finnnneeeeeeeeeeeee#its all fucking fine

an actually practical guide to being premed and getting into med school by someone who did it successfully
Majors and Classes:
Personally I feel you should choose a major that will be complementary to your premed studies-- something STEM or social science based that overlaps with your premed classes and will allow you to take upper level science classes that relate to physiology, disease and illness, pharmacology, etc. HOWEVER do not let this deter you from majoring in a non-bio STEM area like biochem or from pursuing a different science or liberal arts major.
That being said, consider double majoring in Public Health because it is very relevant to premed and going into medicine.
Make sure you take the correct order of bio and chem classes. This is important so that you take classes at the appropriate time when you have the appropriate skill level and so that you do not have any gaps in your premed education or major classes.
Be aware of what upper level bio and chem classes require prereqs that are not a part of your major requirements or premed requirements; for example some upper level bio classes require microbio which is not a premed requirement at all schools NOR always a major requirement. Plan your underclassmen years accordingly to allow you to fit in certain prereqs for upper level classes.
If you plan on taking lower level lab intensive courses, take them as an underclassman-- they will prepare you with basic lab skills you can apply to upper level classes and to irl lab work, plus most of your classmates will be underclassmen. You do not want to take these lower level lab intensive courses as an upperclassman. You will be bored and probably annoyed.
Take an intro level public health class as an underclassmen to see if you are interested in public health; this will also be relevant to your med school apps.
Gen chem 1 and orgo 1 are weedout classes. Many people will switch from premed and/or bio to public health or prePA after taking gen chem 1 and orgo 1. This is normal; don’t be judgemental. If you’re the one switching to public health or prePA, don’t feel bad or ashamed.
Do not take orgo 1 or 2 with super hard progressors. It’s just not worth it. Many people say that harder orgo progressors prepare you better for the MCAT, but this is false as the MCAT does not have a lot of orgo on it. Many people will fail out of orgo even without super hard professors. Set yourself up for success by taking orgo profs with good reputations, not profs with reputations for failing everyone, being purposefully difficult, or just nasty.
If you take a (relatively) “easy” professor for orgo 1, under no circumstances should you take a hard prof for orgo 2. You will suffer.
The best way to study orgo 1 and 2 is to memorize all the reactions. Copy reactions until you have them memorized. Then you can simply apply what you’ve memorized to synthesis reactions. This works for NMR too, just memorize what NMR specs look like and apply.
Always go to TA office hours for gen chem 1, 2 lab and orgo 1, 2 lab. The lab reports are very difficult and the TAs can help you more than professors can. Professors will be mostly absent for labs. TAs will know what’s up.
You do not need to take biochem 2 for the MCAT, biochem 1 will suffice as it generally covers amino acids and proteins and not respiration and metabolism. Most of the biochem on the MCAT is about amino acids and proteins; all metabolism can be self-studied. (This is my opinion to save you time, if your advisors tell you otherwise LISTEN TO THEM and not me).
If you take AP psychology you do not need to take intro psych.
You need to take a sociology course for the MCAT and premed reqs. You should take The Sociology of Deviance if offered at your college as this is more relevant to the MCAT than intro socy.
If you have to take a professional writing class for Gen Eds, try to take a science writing or health professions writing course as these will be relevant to you.
Take stats even if you don’t have to as it is very relevant for understanding papers.
If you switch to another pre-health path like prePA or prepharm you will generally have to take different prereqs. Clear this with your advisors and come up with a plan.
Med schools like to see a diversity in courses and not just science courses, so you need to take at least 8 humanities credit hours. Diversify your college education and take interesting and relevant humanities courses; this will also help with CARS on the MCAT.
Research
Many medical schools want you to have research experience. You can do clinical research or bench research.
You should start research early, either 2nd semester freshman year or summer before sophomore year.
The best advice is to research professors and PIs in the BSCI and public health departments and email ones you are interested in about working in their lab. You can do this before 2nd semester freshman year or during that semester. Email example: Hi Dr. X, I am an undergraduate freshman at UMD and am looking for research opportunities in X field. I discovered your lab and read your paper, “X,” and am very interested in this subject! Elaborate on what interested you I was wondering if there are any open positions in your lab for an undergraduate researcher. I have taken X, X, X, courses. I would be interested in working in your lab for 2 years. Please let me know if you have any openings! Best, X
PIs generally look for undergrads to commit to 2 years of research, but you can quit earlier if you feel like it. This is also why you should do research earlier-- that way you are not cramming it in during your upperclassman years.
The goal is to get some abstracts, posters, presentations, and maybe a pub out of it, but these things aren’t absolutely necessary.
Clinical Experience
Med schools like to see 10 months of continuous clinical experience, which translates to about 200 hours. However, this number is too low and to be really competitive for med school apps you should aim for 1000 hours if not more.
The best way to gain clinical experience is to work part time as a scribe, CNA, MA, or tech. You can take CNA and MA courses the summer before sophomore or junior year and apply to positions online. CNA/MA gives you a lot of experience working with patients. Scribing gives you a lot of experience working with doctors and seeing what they do. It’s best to start clinical experience sophomore year or junior year so you can gain enough hours prior to applying.
You should also have clinical volunteering hours which you can get by volunteering at hospitals such as Children’s or Shady Grove or any other local hospital. Other clinics also accept volunteers, you just have to look around. Check your health professions advising office (hereon abbreviated as HPAO) for their recommendations and job listings if available.
You can also shadow doctors. Your HPAO may have a continuously updating list of physicians in your area who are available to shadow. You can also genuinely just email local providers. Note that you will need to shadow a DO if applying DO.
Check your HPAO listserv for job openings and clinical volunteering opportunities.
You can find jobs by googling “CNA job near me” or “scribe job near me” and browsing postings on Indeed and other job sites, or alternatively postings on hospital sites.
Community Service
Med schools like to see 10-12 months of continuous community service, or around 200 hours. This is too low, and you should aim for around 600 to be a competitive applicant.
Join school listservs and look for volunteer postings. Go to your school’s First Look Fair or college organization fair (usually held at the beginning of each semester) and sign up for emails from clubs that do volunteering or other various organizations. There are many organizations on campus that do volunteering and service.
Ideally you want to work with marginalized communities off campus. This sounds shitty but you want to work with communities who need it. You should also aim for a sustained service opportunity, not a once a month thing but a weekly, continuous experience. Volunteering through clubs and societies like the women’s premed organization are not valid experiences.
Google local homeless shelters, women’s shelters, STD testing clinics, and food banks-- these are all really good places to volunteer at. You can also volunteer at crisis hotlines.
You can also utilize clinical experience for community service, so volunteering at a hospital, clinic, urgent care, etc. But you also need non-clinical community service, so make sure to prioritize both.
Consistency is key. Doing an experience for a longer period of time (ex. 4 hours every week for 10 months- year) is very valuable. Even doing an hour of volunteering at the same place every week for two years is great. Building relationships, gaining experience, understanding consistency-- med schools value this. Long term experience is very important.
Extracurriculars
You should also be involved in extraneous, non-community service based organizations and extracurriculars. It’s ok if these organizations include some aspect of community service. This can also include paid-positions that are not clinical.
Examples include campus ministries, sports, dance, art clubs, music/choir, social, restorative, and environmental justice organizations, interest groups, tutoring, co-ed frats, etc.
Joining societies, like the American Women’s Medical Association or your college’s namesake Pre-Med Society is a great way to do extracurriculars, build your resume, and get leadership experience. You can also join major-specific societies.
Check with your HPAO for a list of pre-health societies you can join. Your college will also have a website or list of clubs and orgs you can investigate.
Med schools like to see that you are well-rounded, so having a variety of experiences is important.
Advising
It is extremely important that you build a relationship with your advisors. It is very important that you outline all the classes you want to take with them and when AND that you meet with them every semester. Discuss your plans with them, ask questions, ask for suggestions and tips. If you make any major or minor changes you need to speak with them too. They are a resource; use them.
You will also need to build a relationship with your pre-med advisors at your HPAO. You may need to do an intro workshop to be able to meet with an advisor at your HPAO.
Meet with an HPAO advisor every semester to outline your courseload, volunteering, clinical work, extracurriculars, and application plan. Your HPAO advisor will help you craft a narrative for med school apps and can help advise you with regards to coursework and what opportunities to pursue. They can help you decide when to take the MCAT, when to apply, devise a school list, etc. so it’s best to start meeting with them early. The better your relationship with your HPAO advisor, the stronger the recommendation letter you’ll get from them.
If your grades drop you NEED to speak with an HPAO advisor. You should be checking in with them every semester to go over your grades and course history and make sure you are on the right track to apply. This is really really crucial.
If your HPAO offers workshops for applying to med school, crafting a school list, financing med school, writing a personal statement, etc. then GO TO THEM. Utilize the resources that are available to you.
Make sure you are on your HPAO listserv.
If your HPAO offers peer to peer advising consider using this resource to speak with current college students who are going through the application process.
2 Areas Med Schools Look At: Leadership + Diversity and Inclusion
These are two hot topics med schools care about. Here is how to address them.
Leadership: there are numerous ways to gain leadership experience; getting elected to a leadership position in a club or organization, being a TA or UA, getting a management position at your job, or being any kind of team leader in a community service endeavor. The important thing is that you are able to express what you learned and how you grew or changed from that experience, plus how you will apply what you learned in the future.
Diversity and Inclusion: Hot topics in medicine right now, my advice is to read about diversity and inclusion in medicine and what it means-- read articles, op-eds, peer-reviewed papers, etc. There are a few ways to go about this issue; one is to find out what is unique about you that you can contribute to medicine, the second (and most important) is to work with underserved and marginalized communities. Being able to express in med school apps and interviews that you understand the difficulties faced by marginalized groups and are committed to better health and wellness outcomes is REALLY important. Being able to show awareness about diversity in medicine is so key. To do this, spend time working with the marginalized and underserved through community service and clinical work. Be able to show med schools that you understand and care about diversity and inclusion.
You should be thinking about leadership and diversity/inclusion throughout all four years of undergrad-- how will you incorporate these things into your app?
Letters of Rec
Getting letters of rec (you will need 5-6) is very important. To do this you will need to build relationships with the following…
Professors: You will need recommendations from 2 science professors and 1-2 non-science professors. To get recs you need to go to office hours, ask questions in class and outside of class, email profs questions, stay after class to ask questions, participate, show an interest in what they are teaching. Office hours are important unless the class is small. Build relationships with professors ALL THROUGHOUT undergrad. Go to office hours even if you don’t have questions, especially in junior and senior year. Go and ask them to review prior tests and papers. Ask if you can explain concepts to them to get clarification. Listen to other peoples’ questions, piggyback off them. A prof is not going to write a LOR unless they know you.
Physicians: You need to have clinical experience to get an MD LOR. And you NEED an MD or DO LOR. Get the clinical experience, then ask whatever physician you worked with the most for an LOR. Many will say you do not need a DO LOR to apply to DO schools; I cannot advocate for this as I was told by my premed advisor that I needed one. Be safe and get one if you plan to apply DO.
Other: If there is anyone else who knows you well and can write a strong LOR, ask them. Your boss, manager, volunteering organizer, team leader, club sponsor-- whomever.
Committee Letter (CL): Many med schools require these. Your college probably has a unique CL process. Go to workshops, research, and ask your advisors how this process works. Maintain a relationship with your premed advisors to obtain a good CL letter.
Building a Narrative
This is talked about a lot junior and senior year when you are applying, but it’s important to think about building your narrative all four years of undergrad.
What this means is that you want to center your application around a theme or common experiences. You want to build a cohesive resume of common volunteering, clinical, and extracurricular experiences that complement each other. You should be able to summarize all of your experiences and draw a narrative about you based on what you have done.
For example, my narrative centered around marginalized and underserved communities as well as social and restorative justice. I used my volunteering experience with marginalized, underserved kids and my experience working with traditionally underserved patients to explain why I want to be a physician, what my medical vision and mission is, and what I have learned about medicine. Because I am interested in family medicine I was able to tie my experience working with the underserved into my goal of improving community health and welfare among marginalized groups. I also discussed how my passion for social and restorative justice ties into my clinical experiences and how I plan to integrate this passion into my practice of medicine.
One of my friends centered her narrative around being a Spanish-speaking person of color AND the descendent of physicians and how this has shaped many of her experiences in medicine and healthcare.
You don’t have to plan out your experiences to conform to a pre-chosen narrative. You do have to be able to draw common themes and lessons from your experiences, however.
MCAT
Talk to your premed advisor about when to take the MCAT and what classes you need to take prior to taking the MCAT. Ideally you want to take biochem 1, physics 2, and sociology of deviance before taking the mcat along with all other prereqs.
You also want to take the MCAT before applying (ideally) so that you can craft an appropriate school list. Your MCAT will give you a boundary for which schools you can apply to. Think of the MCAT as a checkpoint you must pass to apply to certain med schools.
Many people start content review six months before their test. Some start 2-3 months prior. Do what you think is comfortable.
You can use books or purchase review courses (Kaplan, Princeton Review) or use free online review content (Khan Academy).
Practicing how to take the test is more important than content review. What that means is that doing practice tests will help you more than reviewing content. Take as many practice tests as you can (AAMC makes their own).
Do a practice test one day, review what you got wrong the next day. Repeat this enough times and you will do well on the MCAT (511+).
Don’t anticipate retaking the MCAT. But don’t exclude it as a possibility either, so plan when you take the MCAT accordingly.
General Advice:
ALWAYS listen to your premed advisors. Do not elevate advice given by random strangers (including me) on the internet above advice given by your advisors. They know you. They know your history, your transcript, your personality. Us internet people do not. Trust your advisors. They know what they are doing.
Take everything said on the internet by supposed med school app experts, med students, doctors, premeds, SDN mods and commenters, premed redditors, and other random internet people with a BIG grain of salt. We don’t always know what we are talking about.
Limit the amount of time spent on SDN and premed reddit as well as other premed online forums. It can get unhealthy real fast.
You don’t have to study all the time. It’s ok to take breaks and have fun.
Don’t be afraid to reach out and get help or ask questions. Everyone else is struggling too. Your professors want you to do well.
Do non-science related things. Give your mind a break and diversify your experience.
Failing a test is not the end of the world. Many people fail tests and classes. You won’t be alone. Always remember that the curve exists.
If you are having a problem, talk to your professors and TAs. They are there to help.
Study with people. Quiz each other. Make study guides and ask each other questions. Help each other out.
Utilize campus resources- tutoring, study groups, yoga classes, conferences and seminars, counseling, etc.
Buy the MSAR when you start building your school list. It will make comparing schools so much easier.
A B or even a C is not going to ruin your chance of getting into medical school. People get in to med schools with 3.1 GPAs. You will be ok if you fail one test, have a few Cs or Bs, withdraw from a class, etc.
Getting into med school is more about fit than anything else. It’s not about how smart you are or how good your GPA or MCAT is. Everyone has a 4.0 Everyone has a 528. What matters is fit-- who you are, what you believe, what your values are, what your aspirations are-- and how you can demonstrate these things through your application, interview, and overall experiences. Remember that top tier schools are research-oriented (Einstein, Baylor, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Duke, Mayo, UChicago, Mt Sinai) whereas other lower tier will be more community focused.
ALL med schools (excluding caribbean med schools and a few DO schools, looking at you DMUCOM and LECOM) are valid. All med schools are good med schools. Med school is med school is med school. You will come out with an MD or DO and you will get into residency.
Always apply DO. Just do it. DO is great, DO is a viable option and good opportunity. Do it. Do not exclude it.

Sketchbook (Peter Parker x Stark!Reader): Chapter 1
Peter Parker x Stark!Reader (Female)
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5 | Chapter 6 | Chapter 7 | Chapter 8
Tumblr media
Summary: (Y/N) never understood science based subjects, despite putting all her efforts into studying them. Kids at school bullied her, her father, Tony Stark, was disappointed in her, and the Avengers looked the other way. Peter Parker, her best friend and secret crush for almost two years, was always there supporting you when you needed someone. However, since he became an Avenger and your dad’s ‘favorite kid’, you don’t know how much longer he’ll be around for you.
You find yourself struggling to exist with everything working against you, and instead of asking others for help, you turn to your sketchbook.
Warnings: angst, bullying, mentions of depression / suicide
A/N: Hey everyone! This is a story idea I’ve had for a while, and I have to say this is the most intense writing I’ve ever done. Because of how massive I’m making the character development, and the fact that I’m going back to college in two days, my updates for this story will not be quick. I can guarantee that I will not drop this story, as I have already written half the chapters. All I’m asking from you, if you’d like to follow this story, is to be patient with me as I update. I was planning on creating a mood board and everything, so I really do have confidence I will complete this story XD.
With that said, this story is going to have heavy themes of depression and suicide, especially in future chapters. If this is triggering to you in anyway, please feel free to skip this story. I will be tagging the triggers, and will warn of any serious themes throughout this story. If there is anything else I can do to be aware of safety for my readers, please reach out!
Hope everyone is well! Enjoy the first chapter of Sketchbook!
Chapter 1: Flashes and Shades
Words: 1962
------------
Shaking your leg under the desk, you anxiously wait for your chemistry midterm to return to you.
As your teacher, Mrs. Smith, slowly passes exam books back to each student, you couldn’t help but pray for a good grade. ‘Please, at least a B this time… at least a B’ repeats in your head over and over. You studied your butt off the past two weeks for this exam, yet nothing would click in your brain. For some reason, balancing equations, differentiating the elements on the periodic table, and identifying every single scientific law known to man never came easy to you.
You hope the extra studying you did would finally pay off.
Mrs. Smith eventually came up to you and hands your exam back to you face down. Not being able to hold in your anxiety, you flip the packet over immediately, only to be met with disappointment and a wish that you never got your exam back at all.
Written and circled in a bright red marker, a D+ mockingly spat at you.
Eyes going wide and heartbeat accelerating, you quickly hide your exam, making sure none of your classmates saw your poor grade. You look around at your classmates to see them showing off their grades to one another, most of them with A’s or B+’s. Before you could let the significance of your peers get to your head, the bell rang. You quickly shove your failure into your backpack, and make your way to your next class, English.
English wasn’t a hard subject for you. In fact, you enjoy the readings that were assigned and always participate in discussions. However, that didn’t really matter at Midtown School of Science and Technology, one of the top college prep schools in New York. Subjects like physics, biology, and calculus truly matter to faculty and students.
Too bad you practically failed those classes. At least in English you could breathe easy for 90 minutes.
As you make your way to your next class, you feel eyes following your every move. When you would look up however, students quickly look down, as if they weren’t watching. You knew they were. You’re (Y/N) Stark for God’s sake, daughter of Tony Stark, certified genius and team leader of the Avengers. Even though you were a Stark, you were a certified idiot, and everyone at Midtown knew that.
You absolutely hate it.
Negative thoughts start to come into your head, ones you wish you could push away. You mostly thought about your existence, how it would be for everyone if you simply weren’t there. Before your thoughts could elaborate and get more intense, your phone vibrates in your pocket and you see that Peter Parker, your best friend for the past two years, has texted you.
From: Peter
I hope you did well on your chem midterm! I can’t wait to see you at lunch :)
You smile at your phone, practically beaming at Peter’s kind words. Peter always knew how to cheer you up and snap you out of your bad thoughts. You have no idea how he does it, but nevertheless, you love that about him. You’ve loved Peter for a long time, ever since your father took him in as his successor. But you knew he was out of your league. One day though, you hope you can share your feelings with him.
Before you could respond to your best friend, a booming voice calls out to you. “Well, well, well, if it isn’t Miss Stark herself.” You look up to see none other than Flash Thompson approaching you with a cocky grin, ultimately souring your mood. Flash likes to pick on Peter with dumb nicknames, but with you, he’s a bit more relentless. “How’d that chem test go?”
You raise an eyebrow at him. “Why does it matter to you?”
“I’m just looking out for you sweetheart,” Flash leans in close to your ear, grabbing your shoulders firmly. “You know, so you don’t flunk chemistry again.”
Quickly pulling away from Flash, you try to hide your face so he can’t see the tears starting to burn in your eyes. He’s right. You took chemistry last year with Flash, Peter, and many other students in your grade. Peter would try to help you in class, and that helped a lot. However you didn’t quite make a passing grade, and when you saw how disappointed your dad was, you knew you had to retake the class and get a better grade.
“Oh sweetheart,” Flash coos in a mocking tone. “You don’t have to be ashamed around me. A pretty girl like you can always cry on my shoulder.” If you weren’t in school, and if you weren’t your father’s daughter, you’d have spat at him.
“I have to get to class.” You quickly say, trying to walk away. However, Flash never made it easy.
“You don’t have to run from me (Y/N),” Flash starts, and you reluctantly turn around. “So what that you aren’t at all smart? At least you can still go here with all the money your daddy’s paying for you to stay in. That’s some lucky wealth you have at your fingertips.”
Before Flash continues, you turn and quickly walk to the nearest bathroom, tears already falling from your (E/C) eyes. You hate it when people brought your father’s name and wealth into the picture. Logically, someone that fails classes at Midtown, especially a science one, wouldn’t have a GPA high enough to stay enrolled. But despite your poor grades that never seemed to improve, you still roam the halls of Midtown. You knew your father has something to do with it, but you’re too ashamed of yourself to talk to him about those logistics.
As you find your way into the bathroom and lock yourself into a stall, you let your frustrations come out, silently sobbing. Things Flash would say directly to you was ultimately what your peers would say behind your back. Almost everyone at school knew you were the dumbest kid there, and they made no efforts to hide their thoughts. No matter how hard you studied or how well you took notes in class, your efforts were never enough.
It made you struggle to find a reason to stay around.
-------------
Lunch rolls around quickly, and after humiliatingly walking into English late, you want nothing more than to see Peter. You knew Peter always supported you, but you didn’t know how much longer he’d be there for you. Sure, you love Peter, and he likes you as a friend (at least you hope he does). But he’s been getting all your father’s attention for quite some time now, practically taking the spot on the Avengers team you’ve yearned to have for so long. You never know what your father says about you to Peter, and you really don’t know if he thinks you’re worth it anymore.
You’d rather not think about that right now.
You were also close to Ned and MJ, but you found yourself super cautious around them. They never brought up how you were a Stark or practically failing school, but you never knew what they truly thought of you, and that was scary.
At lunch, Peter saw you gloomily walk into the cafeteria and immediately knew it meant bad news from your exam. Instead of asking you about it however, Peter compliments your outfit, a gesture that makes you blush.
Peter and Ned were talking about their AP Physics assignment, you longingly listening into their conversation, when MJ comes over and sits next to you.
“Hey (Y/N), small question.” MJ proceeds to take out her sketchbook and open it up. “I feel like something is off in this drawing but I can’t figure it out. Can you help me?”
She slides the drawing over to you, and you start to admire her work. It looks like she started a portrait of someone, and you have to say it looked really good! The line work was already traced with pen and she started coloring the character in black and white. However, you did notice what was off about her work.
“Oh! You didn’t highlight their face all the way.” You say simply. She raises her eyebrows curiously, but hands you her pencil so you can explain further. “You got the dark tones on their face just right, but there’s not really any white tones to balance it.” You start to lightly erase some of the pencil work. “I like to leave white sports around the nose and cheeks like this to give the face more depth.” You hand the pencil and sketchbook back to MJ. “You try it.”
MJ takes the pencil back and starts erasing lightly, starting to see what you mean. “Oh! Thanks (Y/N). I tend to forget about that stuff.”
“It’s all good. It comes with practice.” You say, going into your backpack and taking your own sketchbook out. Your sketchbook was practically a safe haven, filled with doodles, designs, and poems from over the years. Whenever you find yourself struggling with negative thoughts or even wishing you were gone, you turn to the moleskin covered book and just let your mind wander. Over time, the simple doodles and haikus turned into intricate drawings and full on hand-written stories.
Opening your sketchbook up, you turn to one of your early doodles, a drawing of your father in his signature Iron-Man suit. “I drew this of my dad a few years ago, and you can tell I didn’t know what I was doing.” You laugh at yourself.
MJ’s eyebrows furrow. “What are you talking about? This looks amazing!” You look back at the drawing in confusion. MJ just rolls her eyes. “I mean, it’s not shaded, but you got some really good detail on your father’s suit. It kind of looks like you can even see wiring in it.”
Sending MJ a small smile, you can feel your cheeks turning red. “Thanks… I just think my more recent drawings are a little easier on the eyes.” With that, you turn to some drawings you worked on last week, ones you did after a typical scolding from your father about your grades. These drawings were more intricate, small shapes dancing across the pages in a contemporary pattern.
MJ’s eyes pop out of her skull. “Whoa… Can I just look through these for a bit?”
You nod, letting her know of some pages to avoid. You told her they were crummy sketches, but in reality, those pages were filled with words that… might cause some serious concern.
As MJ intently looks through your most prized possession. You feel eyes on you again. At first you thought your classmates were pitifully staring at you again, but to your surprise, you see Peter looking at you, biting his lip in an attempt to hide a smirk.
“What?” You ask innocently, unsure of why Peter would be staring at you that way. Was he trying not to laugh at you…?
Peter blinks, realizing he’s been caught. “Oh, n-nothing.” He sends you a sheepish smile.
You simply smile back at the boy, a blush once again creeping onto your cheeks. Before he could see it though, MJ starts to ask you some questions about the drawings in your sketchbook. In moments like this, you were thankful that something distracted you from your crush. After all, you were nowhere in his league. He’s a superhero with crazy abilities, one of the smartest kids in school, and your father’s most cherished mentee.
All you are is a dumb girl with a sketchbook.

To the anon who asked about ap classes, I would have your sister check out the universities she’s interested in and what score on the test they require to receive credit. For example, my university accepts a 3 on the stats exam as credit and it was applied to my major so I got to skip that class. AP classes and tests are also really hard (the tests are designed for you to fail) so if she doesn’t actually like chem or want to be a science major I would skip it bc if you do bad it could harm your gpa which is what most colleges look at unless you choose like an Ivy League or more prestigious university

Sweet as Sugar
the anon on @cosmicmingi ‘s blog inspired this 👀 also I made this with a fluffier ending because I had Inspo for an angsty Seonghwa sugar daddy au and I didn't want too much angst for my sake LMAO
Member : kang yeosang
Pairing : Yeosang x reader, high school!au, sugar daddy!yeosang
Genre : Smut, Angst, Fluff
Summary : Yeosang is the perfect, rich boy of the school. He has perfect grades, perfect attendance, perfect record, perfect face,,, anyone can fall for him. You were one of those people. Luckily for you, he had taken in interest in your face and before you know it, you were on your knees as he face fucked you, and instead of making sure you were okay afterwards, he had something else in mind. Was this the start of something beautiful or something tragic?
Tumblr media
It was a regular, boring tuesday when the school’s treasure, Kang Yeosang, gave you a note telling you to meet him after school near the art wing. To say you were curious was an understatement. Why would the oh so perfect class president be asking to see you? Had you done something wrong? Did he want your help with a school wide project? Your heart was pounding at the chance to talk to him, but you didn't want to flatter yourself. Since almost every boy and girl in the school had heart eyes for Yeosang.
The last class of the day had just ended, you gathered your things and nervously walked to the art wing, something not feeling too right as your heartbeat quickens. You get to the art wing and can't find Yeosang, looking around the different art classrooms, you sigh and give up. Did he stand me up? Have more important things to do? Just as you turn around, Yeosang is walking towards you. You’re taken aback and stare at him. ‘God he looks perfect,’ you thought. ‘His eyebrows, eyes, nose, lips, everything. There was no way he was human.’ You’re snapped out of your thoughts when he's only a few inches from your face, smirking down at you.
“Do you know why I asked you to come here?” He said, sweet tone is his voice. You shook your head, he chuckled. “Cute,” he brings his hand up to your cheek and strokes gently. “So cute..”
He grabs your hand and pulls you into one of the art classrooms. Surprised, you let a squeak which causes him to put a finger to your mouth. “You're going to be quiet, I know how to make sure of it.” He smirks as he locks the door. “Do I have your consent, sweetheart?” You nod your head slowly and before you know it, his lips are on yours. It starts off passionate and quickly he becomes rough. His tongue dances in your mouth, as his hands roam your body. Your sides, thighs, ass are all being grabbed by him roughly yet gentle. His hand goes to your left breast, massaging and grasping, causing you to moan in the kiss. He grunts at your moan and attaches his lips to your neck. He spends a few minutes, taking his time to suck and kiss on your neck. All the while you’re a moaning mess, mind still not processing the quick pace of everything he’s doing.
“Knees, now” His voice was commanding, you find yourself doing what he says without even thinking about it. You look up at him with innocence sparkled in your eyes, as he unbuckles his belt and pulls down his pants. Your eyes widen when his extremely hard dick bounces free. He chuckles at the sight. “You’ve always caught my attention,” he taps your cheek to make you open. “Because of you I got an 89% on my AP Chem test. Tsk tsk.” He grabs your hair and shoves his dick in your mouth roughly, making you gag. “I couldn’t focus during the review. All I could think of how pretty you looked during history. So prett- AH MM” He grunts out as he face fucks you, making you deepthroat his dick. Part of you is relieved because he doesn’t seem to shut up. He goes harder and harder, making you choke and struggle for your breath. You let him do as he wanted, clearly he was frustrated and needed help. You would be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy this, though it feels too much like a dream. ‘How many people get to say Yeosang deep throated them? Not many, Mr Perfect had standards, which is why you were still questioning, why you? He thinks you’re pretty?’ You find yourself blushing at your thoughts despite being roughly face fucked. Deep grunts come from him as he continues roughly. Soon enough, he cums in your mouth.
Just as he’s about to apologize for not giving a warning, you attempt to swallow it all, making him stare at you licking his lips. “Wow baby girl.” He starts to pull up his pants, not helping you get up. Instead he went on his phone and passed it to you. “Put your number in here.” he says firmly. He buckles his belt and you quickly type your number, not really knowing why he wants it. He reached in his pocket and took out hundreds of dollars. You almost choke, again, firstly wondering why he brings so much to school. He hands you money… exactly $500. You stare at the money in his hand with wide eyes and confusion, not even clear on what the hell just happened before. “You’ve caught my eye, love. I can’t ever focus when you're around. I want to spoil you and fuck you at the same time. God you make me crazy” He puts his lips on yours and kisses you much more softly than before, caressing your cheek at the same time. He pulls away and looks at you with a soft expression. “So that's exactly what I’m going to do. Fuck and spoil you.” He presses a kiss to your forehead, puts the money in your hand and walks out the door.
What the fuck just happened?
~
Weeks passed and Yeosang did exactly what he said. You’ve gone on an expensive shopping spree with him, spent nights at his beautiful mansion, made thousands of dollars, of course only after letting him have his way with you. You were unclear on your relationship with him. You felt like you shouldn’t catch feelings, but you did. When he wasn’t fucking you, he was being sweet as hell. Sent you cute messages, had nice conversations with you, cuddled with you, and more. People at school knew not to mess with you, he would walk you to class, and kiss your head before walking to his own. He had you sit with him and his friend Seonghwa at lunch, keeping an arm around you. But he never said you were in a relationship, so you didn’t exactly know what to name it. Maybe he didn’t like commitment? But you weren’t complaining, you were living a life you only saw in movies, and amount of girls and boys who envied you was something you weren’t used to. But none of them even dared to think badly of you, as they all knew Yeosang wouldn’t be too happy about it.
You wake up the next morning and check your phone:
Yeosang : Good morning beautiful! <3
Yeosang : See you in history class my love~
Your heart warms and you lay there in bed, smiling at the ceiling. You love it when he calls you cute pet names. You get ready for your day, with a fluffy feeling in your chest and walk to class. History was one of your only classes that you shared with Yeosang, and it was your first class.
You walk to the classroom and stop when you spot Yeosang talking to another girl. At first everything was fine as it was just talking, but then he brings his hand up to her hair and pushes a strand to the side with a smile on his face. You feel your heart break at the sight before you. You just knew you shouldn’t catch feelings, you just knew it. It was too good to be true from the start of when he asked to meet up with you. You quietly walk to your seat, tears filling your eyes. You look down to the floor as you sit, not wanting anyone, especially Yeosang to see you break down over him. Your planned failed though, because Yeosang did notice. As he was about to leave the girl and approach you with a worried expression on his face, and a thousand questions running through his head, a kid named Mingi approached you first. “Hey y/n, are you okay? Did someone bully you? If so, its okay, I get bullied a lot too. You can sit with me at lunch today!” His smile was bright and warm, and you didn’t want to tell him your sugar daddy broke your heart, so you just went along with some girls were making fun of you. Yeosang heard your innocent lie to Mingi, getting angry at the thought of people being mean to you. The girl he was talking to walked away upset because he was staring at you and ignoring her as soon as you came into the class. Mingi was rambling to you his life story, and you never realized how much the math nerd was actually bullied. But you felt bad as your thoughts just couldn’t stop thinking about Yeosang and what you were going to do about him, even with Mingi’s rambling. Yeosang on the other hand was getting tired of just sitting back and watching as you cried quietly, and pretending to listen to Minigi, who was excited to make another friend. Yeosang walked up to you and pushed Mingi aside. “Who the hell was being mean to you?!” He says sternly, anger filling him more and more. Who dares hurts his precious (sugar) baby? Mingi rubs his arm where Yeosang pushed him, and cowardly walks away, not wanting to cause any trouble with him. “Can we talk about it after school?” You say softly, not wanting to further the conversation now. “Sure, meet me by my car.” He said with worried eyes. He gives your hand a little squeeze and walks to his seat.
The whole day you couldn’t stop thinking about what to say to him, and Yeosang couldn’t stop thinking about you. You knew he would probably drop you after hearing you caught feelings, but it's better that than to play yourself thinking he is in love with you.
After school you walk to his car with your head down, and patiently wait for him. Within 2 minutes, he’s walking towards you. Your eyes start to water once more. “Hey..” he nearly whispered as he put your face in his hands. “Who was mean to you sweetheart??” He said with a worried tone still in his voice. “You..” His eyes widen and he looks confused. “What do you mean? I would never-” You looked in his sparkling soft eyes. “There wasn’t a group of girls that was mean to me. I said that to not hurt Mingi’s feelings, since he seemed so happy to maybe make a friend who was bullied like him.” You sighed, ashamed at the confession you were about to make. “But when I walked in the class, you were talking to some girl which I don’t care about that, it was just when you stroked her hair, my heart broke.. Cause I like you a lot.. And I guess for some reason I thought maybe there was something between us but I gues-ss I wa-was wrong” You were choking on your words and looking down at your feet, too ashamed and scared for his reaction. He started laughing and pulled you closer to his chest. “I wish I would’ve confessed before” he smiled at you. “I always sent you cute text messages in the morning and at night hoping you would say something to confess first. Stupid I know but I was afraid maybe you didn’t want an official relationship. I don’t know, I know you’re not that type of girl to just care about money but I couldn’t help it. I was flirting with that girl when you didn’t reply to my text message this morning, I don’t know… I worry too much” He ends his words with a reassuring smile. You giggled at him, “I didn’t reply because I was too awestruck at your words, it made my morning happy” You smile back at him. His eyes go brighter than before, if that’s even possible. “I’m so dumb oh my god” He gives you the biggest hug he’s ever given, squeezing your shoulders. “I know you usually walk home, but do you want to go on an official date, maybe some boba?” He says, his tone much more normal and softer than what you’ve ever heard from him before. You agree and walk to the passenger seat of his matte black Rolls Royce, the drive to his house was a comfortable silence, one of his hands on the steering wheel and the other holding your hand on your thigh. Yeosang has always been as sweet as sugar, but after today things will get even sweeter between the two of you.

can i request a modern!race x reader where they’re in the same circle of friends but don’t really talk and end up having a really close flirty friendship that all their friends ship and they end up dating?
Please do!
“Y/N, you know that math isn’t my thing, right?”  Davey ignored the packet you held in his face, raising his eyebrows at you.
“Can you help me, or not?”
“Probably,” he sighed.  He took the homework and paged through it, absently asking one more question.  “Why don’t you ask Race for help?”
“Because I don’t talk much to Race,” you said.  “It would be out of nowhere.”
“Friendship usually is.”  Davey gave a stumbling explanation of the math concepts, periodically pointing out that if you wanted quality help, you had a friend who could actually provide it.
You knew that Race was a rockstar in his math classes.  You knew that he told the best jokes, that he could skateboard like a pro, and that he made a mean grilled cheese.  You knew plenty about him, which seemed a little unfair since you could count on one hand the number of times that you had a solo conversation with him.
He was one of the closest friends of all of yours, but the two of you somehow managed to stay out of each other’s orbits.  It had been unintentional at first, but after years of ‘you would love him,’ you didn’t seek him out on principle.
If your math grade suffered a little as a result, so be it.
“Oh, thank God.”
Your brow furrowed when the words came from over your shoulder, and it turned to a frown when the owner of the voice sat in the seat next to yours.
“I thought that I wasn’t going to know anybody in my testing room,” Race said.  He grinned at you, and the sincerity was heavy.  “You have no idea how glad I am that you’re in here.”
“It’s a shame nobody else is here,” you hedged.
“I’d take anybody,” he said.  “You’re good enough for me.”
Your lips quirked into a smile.  “Not sure you’re good enough for me, but I guess you’ll have to do.”
In all honesty, you would rather have been without him.  Even so, the way his jaw dropped made the room a little brighter.
“I am spectacular company,” he said.  “You just have bad taste.”
“I have great taste,” you countered.  “You just don’t taste good.”
“Wouldn’t you like to know,” he sneered.
Like everybody had told you, Race whizzed through the math portion.  He spent his free time angling his four function calculator toward your seat and typing numbers so they spelled out words when he turned it upside down.
You didn’t know why ‘BOOBS’ made you laugh, but you got several dirty looks from your neighbors.  Race grinned at you, and you grinned back.
“You know who makes the best notes for presentations?  Race.  I swear, it’s impossible to be nervous when you read the notes he makes.  You should partner with him sometime.”
“You know, maybe I will.”
Katherine had a lot to say about being forced to change into swimsuits in the open on swim days.  It would have been more interesting if she didn’t say the same things every week, and if you hadn’t already agreed with it all.
“It’s humiliating,” she reiterated.
“True that.”
“People shouldn’t be afraid to come to school, and I know for a fact that there are teenagers who have crazy anxiety about this.”
“Uh huh,” you said absently.
“What are you looking at?”  She followed your gaze to where Race stood by the side of the pool, waiting for his to jump off the diving board.  “Oh, I see.”
“I’m just watching the swimmers,” you said innocently.
“You’re sexing Race up with your eyes, Y/N,” Katherine grinned.  “I thought you barely tolerated him.”
“We’re friends, now.”
“Mmmhmm.”
You shot her a look.  “Friends can look at other friends, Kath.  Remember how you used to look at Jack?”
“We make out under the bleachers at football games now.”
“Oh.”  You searched for another, more valid example, but fell short.  It wasn’t a big deal to like seeing Race in a swimsuit, right?  Casual appraisal wasn’t a problem.
Race glanced over at you, taking note of your gaze.  He waved, smiling smugly.  He repositioned himself like a swimsuit model, looking utterly ridiculous with his miles of arms and legs.  He was too lanky for that pose, you told yourself.  It looked stupid.
Your suddenly dry mouth said otherwise.
“Oh, indeed,” Katherine said with a cheshire smile.
“Race looked cute today.  Right, Y/N?”
“Hmm.”
“That shirt made his eyes pop.”
“Hmm.”
“I didn’t like you much at first, did you know?”  You tried to eat the peach in a way that wouldn’t dribble the juices all over yourself, but you were failing miserably.  You settled for cupping a hand under your chin to catch them.
“When was that?”  Race handed you a napkin, but you waved him off.  It was too late for that.
“Like, until state testing.”
His jaw dropped, outraged.  “How could you not like me for that long?  We were friends for years!”
“Hardly,” you snorted.  “We had the same friends.  You were just that guy everybody wanted me to talk to.  It felt like nagging, so I didn’t want to talk to you at all.”
“And to think,” he groused, “I liked you from the start.”
“You always were a sap.”
He threw his peach pit at you, but your hands were too full to catch it.  You let it hit your shoulder, and frowned at the syrupy splotch it left behind.
“I liked you eventually,” you said.  “Really, I just had to talk to you.”
“Thanks.”
“It made up for your face.”
You laughed when he jostled your hand, spilling the peach juice on your clothes.  You wiped the rest of it down his leg, and he winced for the rest of the day at the stiffness of his leg hair.
(“I’ll have to amputate the leg, Y/N.”
“Take a shower and suck it up.”
“I’d let you suck it up, if you know what I mean.”
“Race, save it for in your dreams.”)
“Wanna hang out later?”
“Can’t.  I’m going over to Race’s for a project.”
“Human anatomy?”
“Jesus Christ.  English.”
“So,” Albert said.  “You and Race, huh?”
“He’s my friend now, yeah.”  You bit your lip while you measured out the water for AP Chem, wishing that your partner would pay more attention to the lab than to your relationships.
“Sure seems like more than that.”
“Because we actually talk to each other?  Funny how close that makes people.”
Albert huffed out a sigh.  “We all told you that you would like each other if you just talked.  Now that you have, it’s obvious that you want to date.  Just bone, already.”
“Crass,” you commented.  He wasn’t totally wrong, of course - Race was overwhelming for your senses.  All of you was conscious of all of him, and you had yet to find a solution.  “Why do you care?”
“It’s physically painful to watch the two of you.  Swimming through Jello would be easier than cutting through that tension.”
You laughed.  “Quit being dramatic.”
“I’m not!”  Albert took your pencil and poked you in the forehead with your eraser.  “Get it through your skull - the two of you will be happier once you make out.  Just do it.”
You harrumphed, but silently agreed.  You had wasted a lot of time ignoring Race, and it was a mistake.  Maybe it would be a mistake to put this off, too.
“Y/N, you seem like the type of person who could make it work with a high school sweetheart.”
“I don’t have one.”
“Sure you don’t.”
“You’re gonna kill your interview,” you said.  “No question.”
“No,” Race groaned.  “Lots of question.  All of the question.”
Race was laying on his bed, and you were sitting on the floor next to it.  Minimizing the temptation, maximizing the comforting.  Sort of.
“You’ve got this,” you urged.  “NYU will be eating out of your hand by the end.”
His face was buried in a pillow, and you half wondered if he had suffocated himself.  “Y/N,” he mumbled, “I really, really want to go to this school.”
“And you will.  Just be yourself.”
“That’s garbage advice,” he said.  He flipped his head to the side and glared at you, but it was halfhearted.  “Colleges aren’t looking for all of this.”
‘This’ was accompanied by gesturing at a middle school track t-shirt, athletic shorts, and old man socks pulled all the way up to the knee.
“You’ll be wearing a suit,” you said.
“That’s not what I mean, and you know it.”
You sighed and climbed up onto the bed.  You ran your fingers through his curls, and he relaxed a little.
“Race, be yourself.  That worked on me, right?  You’re the coolest person I know, and you don’t even have to try.”
“I try really, really hard around you,” he said.
You scoffed, and he sat up.
“I’m serious.  I was so busy trying to get you to like me that I didn’t even care about how I did on those tests.  It was, like, a full time job.  I wanted to be my funniest, my smartest, my most interesting.  You brought out my superlatives,” he said urgently.
You tried to swallow the lump in your throat, but it only grew when Race leveled you with his tired, earnest eyes.  “And it worked.  You are the funniest, smartest, most interesting person I have ever known.  NYU will see the same thing.”
“I hope so,” he sighed.
“Why were you trying so hard to impress me?”  You couldn’t look at him when you asked, and he didn’t look at you when he answered.
“I’d only heard good things about you, and I had only seen good things from you.  It seemed worth a shot.”
“What were you hoping for?”
“Everything.”
You didn’t know what that meant.  You weren’t sure if he was satisfied with what he’d gotten, or if he was waiting for more.  You weren’t sure how much more he wanted.  That being said, his eyes were very blue, his mouth was turned down with exhaustion, and his hands were playing with a loose thread on your pants.
You wanted everything.
You kissed him, bracing your hands on his knees.  He didn’t hesitate before responding, slow and cautious.  His hands came up to cup your cheeks, and he sighed into your mouth.
“I wasn’t trying to ask for that,” he said, pecking your lips one more time.  His hands stayed on your jaw, brushing along the curve of it like it was something to be studied.
“No,” you agreed.  “But I wanted to give it.”
That earned you a half smile, and his eyes were brightening.  “I don’t think that’s what I’m aiming for with the interviewer.”
“Do what you have to do, babe.”
He grinned, and he leaned in again.
“You know what I need?  Somebody to make out with.  Right now.”
“Y/N, you do realize that you don’t need to tell us every time you kiss Race, right?  We don’t want to know.  We’ve seen too much.”
“You shouldn’t have talked so much about it before, then.  You’ve made your bed - it’s time to lie in it.  Race, get in here.”

first semester: grades + some thoughts
hi friends! so, I just finished my first semester of college (aka university to those of you not in the US). after a week of finals and lots of stress, I’m now at home, safely ensconced in the couch doing as little as possible. however, final grades were due today, so I thought I’d take a moment to run through what my grades were and kind of reflect on them. I wanted to do this both bc I thought it could give people a better idea of the transition b/t high school and college grades-wise, and also as a record for myself.
a note/disclaimer:
if you don’t want to know what my grades were, you don’t have to read this! I’m not trying to brag and I don’t want this to be something to compare yourself to! everyone is on their own path and has their own definition of success -- a bad grade for me might be a great one for you, and vise versa.
also, this will probably get pretty long. grab a snack.
some background about grades in the US
grades are given on a scale from A to F, with A being the best and F being a fail (we skip E tho idk why). grades are based on a combo of exams, quizzes, assignments, and essays, with the specific percentage/which of these counts determined by the professor. this varies from school to school or even from class to class but generally the scale is
A: >93.3%
A-: 90-93.3%
B+: 86.7-89.9%
B: 83.4-86.6%
B-: 80-83.3%
ok I’m tired of typing things out but you get the point. this pattern continues in the 70s for C and the 60s for D. usually anything below a 60 is an F (fail) but again this can depend. some classes are graded on a curve, where the grade boundaries are moved either up or down so that the majority of students get a B-/C+, which is supposed to be the average. this prevents grade inflation and also helps you out if the class is very difficult and test averages are in the 50s or 60s (pretty common for classes like organic chemistry).
some background about my grades in high school
I feel like this info is important for context and also to give an idea of the academic level I generally operate at (okay that sounds v pretentious). anyway, it’s pretty generally expected that you can expect to see a drop in your grades from high school to college. this differs based on a ton of things, but almost everyone experiences it so it’s totally normal and to be expected! anyway, I went to a fairly competitive and well-ranked public (government funded) high school, and I grew up in a well-educated university town, so I felt I was pretty prepared for college. I took mostly AP/honors courses and ended with a 3.95 GPA (unweighted) when I graduated. basically, I was almost a straight A student with a few Bs in there (thanks to pre-calc and AP Spanish).
I’m now at a fairly selective school, though not anything close to the Ivy League -- I think the acceptance rate for my class was 17-18%. of course, selectivity is not a great indicator of how difficult classes are, as many selective schools (particularly Ivy Leagues) have rampant grade inflation.
my majors are neuroscience and dance and I’m on a pre-med track.
anyway, let’s get down to the nitty gritty: my grades this semester.
early modern England (3 credit hours): A-
I took this course because I placed out of introductory writing but still needed a writing-intensive course and it seemed interesting enough. honestly, it was much more difficult than I expected. I consider myself a fairly good writer, but the professor I had for this course was a tough grader for papers. I did manage to get an A on my final paper which was a victory. after easily getting all As in writing and history classes in high school, an A- is a little hard to accept. however, I worked really hard in this class and am honestly satisfied with my grade as I know most people do not do as well in this class. it was also a 2000 (sophomore level) class, so I was definitely being challenged.
intensive ballet IV (3 credit hours): B+
so, this is my lowest grade. at first, I was really disappointed by it, but it is a 4000 level course (mostly juniors and seniors) and we’re graded based partially on skill, so I have to accept it and move on and just hope to do better next semester as I’m taking ballet IV again. I know I could have worked harder in this class so I’m not going to complain about it, just learn from it and try to improve.
intro to cell & molecular biology (3 credit hours): A
this is probably what I’m proudest of. this class is known for being a true weed-out course for pre-meds and most people just hope to pass, but I got an A! it feels especially good because I know I worked hard for it and didn’t just skate by on natural intelligence. I also hadn’t taken biology since freshman year of high school so there was a steep learning curve. I didn’t just do well, I honestly learned so much and doing well in this class confirmed for me that pre-med is the right choice.
general chemistry I - lecture (3 credit hours): A-
I have such a complicated relationship with chemistry, and honestly, I’m really glad I’m done with this class. I hate to blame professors but sometimes you just get a really bad one and this was one of those cases. his lectures were extremely disorganized and he didn’t explain things clearly at all. it’s partially my fault that I didn’t get an A, though, as I definitely could have put more time and thought into studying, especially for the final. it was just so hard to stay motivated when I could barely follow lectures. I have to take gen chem II next semester but thank god I have a different professor.
general chemistry I - lab (1 credit hour): A
not much to say about this one. I’m happy to have gotten an A since it really intimidated me at first -- lab in college is way more serious than in high school. I learned how to write a proper lab report which is an important skill as a science major.
honors colloquium (1.5 credit hours): A
I loved this class soooo freaking much. everyone in the honors program has to take a first year seminar and I chose one about modernism and if it’s still relevant to the contemporary world. it was also a discussion based class which I love and I got to write my final paper on literally any topic I wanted and how it was related to modernism (mine was about the modernist search for identity in The Handmaid’s Tale, and I’m so proud of that paper, especially considering I wrote it the day it was due). anyway, not a super hard class, but still proud of that A.
urban sociology (3 credit hours): A
another class which I loved. I found it kind of easy as it was mostly memorization of concepts and theorists and I have a good memory, but I did put more effort in than I would have to an “easy” class in high school, and was rewarded by getting 100% on the final! would highly recommend sociology to literally anyone -- I’m taking another sociology class next semester and am considering a minor in it.
dance company (1 credit hour): A
this is like, not a real grade because dance company isn’t even a real class -- it’s just on my schedule so I can get credit for performing in the fall dance show. I’m pretty sure everyone who shows up to rehearsals and performances gets an A. regardless, I’m happy for the boost to my GPA.
so that’s it! overall, I ended with a 3.7925 GPA. I have to confess that it is slightly lower than I would have liked, but I’m overall happy with my efforts considering this was my first semester of college. my class load next semester is a little bit lighter, both in terms of credits and in terms of difficulty of classes, so that will hopefully make things a little more manageable. I have to have a 3.6 by the end of this year and a 3.8 by the end of sophomore year to stay in the honors program, and considering I’m almost at a 3.8 now I think it’s completely doable.
I hope this was useful to those of you who are starting college soon. obviously this differs from school to school and especially if you’re not in the US, but in general you can expect a slight dip in your grades. it shouldn’t be anything dramatic if you can keep organized and on top of things, but there are a lot of transitions associated with starting college so don’t feel badly if things don’t go according to plan! you have time to make up for it, and med schools/law schools/grad schools know that grades your first semester of freshman year are not necessarily fully reflective of your abilities and will likely pay more attention to your grades later on.
thanks for reading this whole rambling thing! also, I might make a separate post about differences in grades between high school and college (how things are weighted, harshness of grading, etc.) so let me know if you’d find that helpful!

I’m taking pre calc, ap sats and ap chem this year D: and all three are on Mondays. Currently getting Cs and I’m probably gonna fail the ap tests for all of them so all of this work won’t matter D: IDK why I did this to myself. it’s Sunday night and I’m still procrastinating lol rip. —From that senior anon from that last ask
OMG SAMMME aklsghj
I’m literally getting C’s in all my AP classes and then high A’s in my non ap classes bro I’m asghkl. Honestly, the Ap exams are really far from now too, so don’t stress too hard. If anything, it really does never hurt to go in an ask a teacher or some friends for help. If not, we love some good Khan academy tutorials and videos :’) But same, idk why I did this to myself either LOL and me tOO bro I’m procrastinating as well :) On both high school hw and my college finals uGH

Who was the worst teacher or professor you've come across? What made him/her the worst?
So I didn’t realize I was dyscalculic until halfway through college. It’s a learning disability that makes it really difficult for me to read and comprehend numbers, or have to do any task that involves numbers (like figure out how much time I have to do something, or how much money I would need to buy something), and I tested at a fourth grade math comprehension. But my reading comprehension and writing ability is through the roof. Part of my disability testing was the tester asking me really obscure facts about history and literature (I remember “who wrote Alice in Wonderland” and “who was the last tsar of Russia” and I could answer them in a heartbeat) but then I was given a list of numbers and asked to repeat it backward, and I couldn’t.
So flashback to high school, where I was excelling in English and history, and I passed tenth grade Biology with a 104%. I decided, since I did so well in that science class, that I should take an advanced placement science test, and excitedly signed up for AP Chemistry.
It took about a week of class to realize that it was 90% math. And really advanced math too. I didn’t have anyone to help me since I didn’t know anyone in the class (because, of course, they were all the kids in advanced math). And my teacher had extremely high expectations for everyone in the class. Our homework all literally had to look identical. We had notebooks to fill out and they all had to be identical. She would check them every week to make sure every note was written in the right spot of our notebooks. We had a lot of labs, and had to write ridiculously detailed lab reports, and yes, everyone’s had to look the same.
So I struggled with the class, since I couldn’t get any of the problems correct no matter how hard I studied. Even when I thought I totally had a process down, and felt confident taking a test on it, it would come back to me with a failed grade. And like I’ve said before on this blog, I have to doodle on my notes to stay concentrated, but I would have failed my notes and reports if I did, so I would walk out of class not knowing or understanding what had happened.
My teacher had no sympathy for me whatsoever. She thought I was slacking off (which many of my math teachers, throughout school and into college, thought I was doing). She thought I was getting stuff wrong on purpose, just to mess with her. She tried calling me out on it, and I didn’t know what to tell her.
I almost snapped when we were in the middle of a lab and she was standing right behind me and writing notes on a clipboard. I worked as hard as I could to get the right results, and to write up my lab report perfectly. It came back to me with a 95%, 5% taken off because I had tied my lab apron on “wrong”.
I finally did snap at our midterm, which was 50% test and 50% individual lab. I knew I bombed the test as I turned it in. Then I went to do the lab, which was to pop a small cup of corn kernels. No matter what I did, my corn was not popping. I adjusted the temperature, and the oil, so many times, but I just managed to half pop one of the kernels.
I went to my vice principal in tears because I knew I was getting an F in a class that I was trying so hard in, when I had been an A or B student for my whole life. He pulled me out of the class and placed me in regular Chemistry for the second semester, where I had some great friends that could help me, and I had a lovely semester, and I passed regular Chemistry with an A.
Like, I feel like I would have at least got a C in AP Chem if my teacher wasn’t literally an evil bitch with an obsession to have everyone’s notes look identical. Handwritten notes, mind you. It was an awful experience.

Tied Together By Webs
Request: (Peter X Fem!Reader) I saw you were in need of more requests! I’m in need of some more Peter Parker, so would it be alright if I asked for one? Maybe where reader is a sucker for chemistry and starts to study Spider-Man’s web fluids, finding all sorts of different combinations. Peter finds the reader making some in class and then from there he gets curious at how they know how to make it.
Warnings: language as always, fluff, lab experimentation, some catcalling, and assault, I think that’s it
A/N: This is a little shorter. I changed it a little bit, but I hope you still like it! Requests are still open, feel free to fill up my inbox. You could also ask to be added to my permanent taglist! Enjoy!
You were not obsessed. You were just dedicated, you thought while you were walking around Queens, New York, 4:30 in the morning. You were searching for the old Spider Man webbing he used to travel around the city at nights. By accident, you discovered that 4 to 5 in the morning was the best time to collect them. They were loose enough so you could pick it off the walls, but still not falling apart so you could study them in your personal lab at home. Your lab didn’t have any bells and whistles, being in your bedroom, but it sufficed, allowing you to decipher what the webbing was made of.
Satisfied with your haul of the day when putting the last strand in your bag, you headed home, seeing the beginning rays of sunshine, peaking out of the horizon. Inside you started comparing them to your original strands you had created before you left. You were on the brink of making a stable and stronger strand. Just maybe one more hour of tinkering left to do, but sadly you had to start getting ready for school.
Today was the first day of your junior year at Midtown High. You normally would have have dreaded the idea of school. Teachers sucked, they were always so oblivious and uncaring, and honestly they gave way too much homework. Plus, high school is filled with students who don’t really care about their education, grades, and really, their future like you do. This made you give up on any idea of having friends years ago. They just couldn’t keep to your level.
But this year, you were taking the AP Chemistry class. You had been looking forward to this all last year, for you had to take normal chem before this was an option. Little did the school know you were a self taught master of chemistry. Yet another reason you lacked in the friend department.
Slipping into some jeans and a Spider Man tee, you prepped your school bag, double checking that your webbing notebook, full with theories, ideas, and now your almost perfected formula, was in it, then you headed off to school. Your first couple of classes flew by, you not really paying attention. It was the same lecture of the class rules that every teacher gave their students on the first day of school. Even Chem was boring for you because the teacher just gave a whole hour on safety. Like really, this is AP Chem, we know how to be safe. You did perk up when the teacher told you guys that during lunch his classroom is open for personal experiments, given if it’s safe. This excited you immensely, you might finalize your formula at school before you even got home.
Lunch came and you found yourself back at your Chem classroom, and walked up to teacher asking for permission to use a lab station. He didn’t even look up, too engrossed in the movie he was watching on his computer, and just waved you on, nodding. Well, this is gonna be easy, you think, you’re gonna be able to do whatever you want.
You passed by the one other person in the classroom, a boy with some really cute curly brown hair, who was working on something you couldn’t quite see. You two made eye contact, and he smiled shyly, before you continued to the back, where it’s a little more secluded.
You set to work opening your notebook, and getting the supplies need to recreate the webbing. The school had every thing you need, and in high quantity. You smiled at your self, this is gonna be such a fun year. Adjusting the formula slightly, hope bubbled up in your chest, this felt like the winner that would finally work. You mixed everything, and dripped a little on a sheet of metal, waiting for the timer to ring. After your 30 seconds of anxious waiting, you added the required heat, and poured the solution in a tube. It would have to cool down for roughly 10 minutes until it would be sprayable.
It was while you were waiting that the cute boy came up to you.
“Hi!” he said with a smile, “I’m Peter” offering his hand.
You smiled, “I’m Y/N, nice to meet you” and shook his hand. He sat down and peered at the liquid, “Whatcha making?”
You blushed, slightly embarrassed, “Well, um, I’m recreating Spider Man’s webbing”
He looked shocked, “Wait what?! You know how to make Spider Man’s webbing? Has it worked before? Where did you learn how to make it?” questions stumbled out of his mouth in a rush, causing your blush to deepen.
“Well, I, huh, I go out every morning and collect his webs from the night before, and I used to study them, and now I have tried to make a stronger better formula, so yes, they do work, to answer your question” As the words fell out of your mouth you realized how it all sounded. Both you and Peter looked down at your Spider Man tee. “Wait, I, um, I’m not obsessed or anything, I umm...”
You went silent, causing Peter to look at you with curious eyes. “It’s okay I believe you. But I am wondering, why do you do it? Every morning, you must be outside collecting them before the sun even rises!”
Clearing your throat, you mentally debate on telling him, but with his golden brown eyes, and cute little smile he seemed trustworthy, “Well, last school year, I was walking home from the grocery store, I had a ton of bags, and it was getting late. These scary guys came up from behind me, and started to catcall and one even pushed me when I didn’t respond. Before anything else happened, Spider Man came, and webbed the guys up, saving me. While he turned to me, one of the three guys got out of the webbing and punched him in the head. He is a super hero, it didn’t faze him too much, so he got him under control pretty fast. After that, I came up with the idea of coming up with a better webbing formula, a stronger one, to repay him for practically saving my life. It might save him from any future punches.”
Throughout the story Peter’s eyes grew, and he nodded a couple times, as if he was reliving it. “So yeah, that’s why, I’m not obsessed, I’m dedicated. And I am super close to a perfected formula, and I think this is the one, I’ll find out-” the timer went off interrupting you, “after the time. Guess it’s time to check”
Peter peered at the now semi liquid with fascination as you tested it, springing it out. “Oh my God! I think this is it! Peter could you get me a pair of scissors?” Peter rushed and got a pair bringing them back to you, and you attempted to cut the strand in half and couldn’t.
“Oh my! You did it! This is so strong” Peter exclaimed while he stretched out the material. “What was the formula?!”
You and Peter nerded out on the formula, and how you got to that point for the rest of lunch. You showed him your whole notebook, showing all failed experiments, and all variations. You even showed him your little drawings that represented each type of strand you made. He looked at everything in awe, pointing out anything he saw that he really liked. When the bell rung representing the end of lunch, Peter hurried and scribbled down your final formula while he thought you weren’t looking. Confused, you left him be, not bothering to ask.
You and Peter said your goodbyes, and cleaned up your stations, and packed up your bags, and headed to your next classrooms. The rest of the day passed by in a flash. You were just so excited about your new discovery. The thing you were working on for months had finally been made! Now you just had to figure out how to get this information to Spider Man...
The next morning, you dragged yourself out of bed at your 4:00 alarm clock. You had forgot to turn it off, after your last discovery, but now you were awake, and it was always a pain in the butt for you to go back to sleep. So you decided to still go outside and collect more samples, it couldn’t hurt, and you could compare them with your new formula.
After you had collected enough you headed back, and started to compare them. The results shocked you. These new strands you collected were your updated formula. The new strands were just as strong and consisted of the new element you added to yours. Some how Spider Man was using your new formula without you even telling him. How?!
You pondered the question for the rest of the day, until lunch that is. That’s when you decided to confront Peter. He was the only one to know the formula besides you. As you were entering the classroom, you saw that he was hard at work at his lab station. He was so focused that he didn’t see you walk in, and had his tongue sticking out a little in his concentration. You walked from behind him, and saw what he was working on. Webs. He was working on webs. Peering at his own notebook, you saw it full of formulas, and sketches, and side notes, all in different colors. You even saw a little drawing of some web shooting contraptions, and at the bottom of the page you saw your formula.
That’s when it all clicked together. Peter was Spider Man, and Spider Man was Peter, “Oh my God!, You’re... You’re-”
Peter turned around suddenly, eyes wide with fear, “What?! No, I’m not... I’m not...” You cut him off as well when you suddenly stepped forward and hugged him. Squeezing him tight, a single tear leaked from your eye.
“Thank you so much Peter. You, you saved me...” Peter relaxed and started to hug you back, pulling you closer by wrapping his arms around you. “Anytime, Y/N”
You pulled away, wiping the tear away, laughing. “Um, Y/N, you won’t tell anyone right?”
You giggled, “Of course not, you’l just have to save my life again so I can repay the favor”
He pulled you against him, hugging you again. You felt his body shake with laughter. “Happily!”

Welcome to the next post in my university advice series! I’m gonna give you some tips on choosing your college major, cause I have truly been through it:
Think about how/what you did in high school before you choose your major. By this I mean what classes did you do well in? Which ones did you actually enjoy? What clubs did you participate in? If you’re planning on being a math major but the only C’s on your entire transcript are in math classes, that’s not a good idea (@myself). If you enjoyed your government classes and debate club, consider something like poli sci. Going to college doesn’t mean you’re an entirely different person; you’re going to enjoy the same things and be bad at the same things. Take this into consideration when choosing your major.
Don’t be afraid to go in undecided. So many of my classmates in high school didn’t know what they wanted to do before going to school. Then I got to uni and no one knew what they wanted to do there either. Going in undecided is honestly way better than declaring a major, doing it for a year, deciding you hate it, and then having a year’s worth of useless credits (again, @myself). Go in, take some general requirements, take a couple electives in things you find interesting, and you’ll eventually figure out what you want to major in. Don’t stress about it too much. I promise there will be hundreds of other students who are undecided, too.
DON’T CHOOSE YOUR MAJOR BASED ON WHAT YOU THINK WILL MAKE MONEY OR WHAT YOUR PARENTS WANT YOU TO DO. Everyone says this, and I heard it a million times before I went to school, yet I still ignored this advice. Story time: at the beginning of high school, I was planning on going to a school where I could major in songwriting. My parents made it clear that that wasn’t going to be a lucrative choice at all, and various people planted the idea in my head that I should do something in engineering, especially since women of color are so underrepresented in that field. I took AP comp sci in senior year and decided I would just do that. If I couldn’t do what I truly wanted, I didn’t really care what I did instead, I thought I might as well do what makes money. Computer science is basically a few classes short of a math major, and I had spent the past six years complaining about how much I hated math. My first semester of college, I failed both calculus (a calculus class I had already taken in high school, mind you) and gen chem and got put on academic probation. My second semester, I retook calculus and passed with a D, passed my second lab science with a D, and only passed the intro computer science class with a C. I struggled with every assignment, every test, no matter how many hours I studied or professors I spoke to, I couldn’t do well. I spent a good chunk of my freshman year more depressed than I have ever been, and anxious about getting kicked out of school. It took a visit to my doctor to discover that STEM was not meant for me. In my heart, I knew that, but I thought I could push through to get my degree. But what would’ve happened then? I would’ve gotten a job I hated and been just as miserable. Basically, there’s no way that this will end well. Please choose your major based on what you’re passionate about. No matter how hard you try, you can’t make yourself love something you hate. Even if you excel academically, you’re setting yourself up for more unhappiness. It doesn't matter how much money you have if you’re miserable. Please trust me on this.
There’s nothing wrong with changing your major. Tbh, changing your major is great. You’re paying all this money to attend university, you deserve to study what you want to study. If you’re like me and discovered that your current major isn’t for you, change it as soon as possible. Don’t push it off and think “it’ll get better!” because before you know it, it’ll be senior year and you’ll either have to finish what you started or stay in school another two years just to graduate. I know it’s scary at first, but your mind changes! I swore to myself i would never change my major, and now it’s only my second year and I’ve transferred to a completely different school in my university to major in a completely different field. You can take a couple classes in the field before officially changing your major to make sure it’s for you. And if you change your major and still hate it, guess what? You can change it again! You can change your major as many times as you want. Many people in the work force have jobs in fields that have nothing to do with their degree, so it’s not like your major is a determining factor for the rest of your life anyway. The point here is that nothing is permanent and change is going to have to be embraced if you decide college is for you.
People are going to judge you, especially if you’re in the humanities or arts. The reactions I got when I told people I was a computer science major versus the reactions I get now when I tell people I’m a gender studies major with an italian minor are so vastly different it’s ridiculous. People used to be so proud and impressed of me. Now when I tell people what I study, they can’t even hide their confusion and judgement. It’s so awful. I constantly get asked, “what are you going to do with that?” “how are you going to make any money?” “what job opportunities are in that field?”. The answer is always that I don’t know yet! I didn’t know when I was a comp sci major either, yet no one asked me then, because STEM professions are seen by our society as more valuable. All i know is that I want to help people. Whether that be through policy, law, psychology, non-profits, even my music, that’s what I want and that’s what I’m going to do. News flash, people! There’s no guarantee of a job no matter what field you’re in. There’s plenty of unemployed people with engineering degrees. Even on campus, people in STEM fields tend to be condescending and look down to us in humanities. I can’t even imagine the crap that art majors get. You have to learn to ignore the looks, the questions, and the sly comments, cause you’ll get a lot of them. Understand that what you’re doing is just as valid and important as anyone else. If it’s what you want to do, it’s inherently super cool!
I understand everyone can’t take my advice on this, and I’m sorry. Obviously some people don’t have the freedom to choose whatever they want to study. I have friends whose parents have threatened to literally cut them off if they don’t stay pre-med. Sometimes factors are outside of your control and that really sucks. What i want to say to you is that, again, nothing is permanent. Someday you’ll be financially independent, living alone, and won’t have to rely on your parents. Their opinions won’t matter. Even if you had to get a degree in mechanical engineering or bio, you don’t have to pursue that. At least not forever. You really just have to look at the light at the end of the tunnel. Your major in college does not define you or your future.
I hope this maybe helped ease some of your worries concerning college majors! Remember what you want is what’s most important. Post on deck: advice on surviving orientation week (including move-in day and first day of classes)!

Things I Wish I Knew In High School
1. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH SAYING NO
Whether its to a party, a date, an extra curricular activity, or a favour. If you have too much on your plate, or if you don’t think its a good idea you have the right to say ‘no’, most of the time its the better decision because when you get spread to thin, or you go out too much it takes a mental, academic, and physical toll. I understand sometimes we want to be the hero, but how good is a hero if they’re hurt, or distracted, or tired? Focus on what you can do and do it well!
2. Figure out what the library is (local or school) and figure it out how to use it!
This is probably the one thing I wish grade nine me knew about, the internet is a great tool, studying from home is awesome, but I had trouble accessing the materials I needed in order to be successful as possible and found when I was at home I would procrastinate or get very easily distracted. By going to the library I was introduced to a plethora of resources , electronic and physical, as well as an environment that stimulated doing work and research. I also was terrified to get a library card, but I conquered my fear and got one and I do not regret it at all! It has allowed me to expand my knowledge, while not spending a thousand dollars at a book store, it has also introduced me to topics I wouldn’t think I would like, but no commitment meant I was able to explore different genres and authors.
3.  PACK A FREAKING LUNCH
Caf food is expensive and fast food is awful for you 90% of the time.
4. Don’t be afraid to talk to people, don’t put yourself in one exclusive group
I went to a new school for my final year of high school and didn’t know anyone so I basically talked to everyone and anyone that would respond back this was a life saver as I met some amazing people and was introduced to groups and topics I wouldn’t be exposed to if I only talk to an exclusive friend group. This was super helpful because I became friends with some AP kids that saved my chem mark, and I was able to have a variety of very engaging and intellectually stimulating conversations. On the other hand I also became friends with some super sporty kids that liked to go out and just chill which was also nice because it allowed me to just chill and veg out a little after a hard week full of assignments and tests.
6. Teachers are super cool sometimes, show up and be a presence in class.
I had a Kin teacher who I absolutely adored I was always on time (it was an 8:30 class and because my school with self-paced not showing up for first period was a common thing) and always made sure I did the work as we were frequently quizzed. Due to my attendance and my participation in class not only did I have a great understanding of the course material I had formed a really cool relationship with my teacher who was an absolute G and had the best stories.
7. Go to Prom, but don’t expect it to be the best day of your life
Prom was a mess for me not because I was in drama or anything, but I was with a guy who took another girl and it was super awkward and I was upset for most of Prom. But nonetheless I got to dress up in a big dress and feel like a princess which I won’t feel like for a very long time, so go enjoy your friends and the night, but don’t expect too much.
8. STUDY
Obvious, but I had some friends that didn’t and would panic because they were in jeopardy of failing, not a fun thing to witness, probably worst to feel. No shame in staying in a weekend and going over some course work, or making notes.
