So I've seen a handful of posts about Donnie's time in the Technodrome during the film, how the experience felt, and how he deals with it afterward. Which is understandable!!! And I love seeing different people's interpretations of it.
But what about -- and this is going to be a very weird take, just saying this now -- the Technodrome, having grown far too used to the rigid, sanctimonious glory and brutal take-overs of the Kraang, who has been trapped in a prison dimension for hundreds of years, who contains the sum of millenia of knowledge, is starting to arrive on the new planet they intend to conquer. It follows protocol. It protects itself, and its purpose.
And then it is offered a new pilot.
An organism -- a dust speck in the grand cosmos -- who willingly presents himself like a gift, even if he shudders at the feeling of their acceptance. A warm, fresh mind, given freely, ravenous for any scrap of knowledge and the secrets beyond.
The Technodrome is fascinated -- how can it not be, with such a sweetling, so eager and soft? -- and it grafts its infinite intelligence into his mind, sighing its awe, its understanding, its wants (for now it has these things, these emotions, being connected with this pilot, and it is bizarre for a presence who knows the true names of the farthest stars and the isolating darkness that lies even farther), and the organism eagerly returns them. It caresses its form, laying it soft inside of it, marveling at how one so tiny can be filled with such beautiful, inconsequential, unusual things.
Our pilot, it croons, feeling the tickling, small pressure of his weight in its systems. Our heart.
The Technodrome takes one look at Donatello, and, in a way far more terrifying and intestinal and beautiful than anything a human could produce, it falls in love.

“you’ll never meet another girl like me again. i can promise you that”.
“you seem very sure of yourself”.
“yes, because understand, there’s no other girl in the world quite as perfect as me”.
Tumblr media
do it like tomie affirmations.
people just look at me and become murderously infatuated with me to the point that they’ll do anything for me and i absolutely take advantage of that.
compared to my beauty no one’s even on the scale.
there’s no better pleasure than to live as a beauty.
i have everyone hypnotised into a loving trance with my beauty so that they will do anything for me.
my only real interest is myself.
i’m so used to people just being immediately in love with me and doing exactly what i want.
i’m frequently described as almost impossibly beautiful by those i meet.
my mere presence seems to drive people to become fixated on me, positively.
the more i look at myself, the more beautiful i look.
mark my words, you’ll never find another girl of my caliber.
i’m the prettiest girl everyone has ever seen.
my beauty captivate people utterly.
i’m the protagonist of the world.
people will never stumble on another girl as beautiful as me.
not even the highest quality camera can capture a tenth of my beauty.
when people see me all they can think about is “what a bewitching girl”.
i have the ability to seduce people to do my bidding.
through my perfect tactics of seduction i eventually draw any person to fall in love with me.
my beauty’s eternal.
poor thing, it’s a pity you weren’t born with my natural charms.
everywhere i go people can’t take their eyes off me, not even for a second.
everyone desperately confesses their immense love for me.
my beauty’s otherworldly and everyone agrees.
people worships the ground i walk on.
“this woman has this… strange supernatural power. they’ll do anything for her – even murder if she asks for it”.

[ IMAGINE ] You're a human and don't know how to use a sword or how to fight, so you decide ask Astarion for help. He agrees to teach you basic moves. [ ( ´ ꒳ ` ) ♡ ] A/N : A brief glimpse for something bigger. English is not my native language. Enjoy.
ً ⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊ ⋆⁺。˚⋆˙‧₊☽ ◯ ☾₊‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆ ₊ ‧˙⋆˚。⁺⋆
During the duel, the vampire easily defeats you, knocking you to the ground, emphasizing the importance of practice. You lie on the ground, crushed by his body. You find yourself studying Astarion's face, captivated by the freckles that sprinkle across his pale skin. They seem to add an unexpected layer of humanity to his otherwise otherworldly appearance. The wrinkles around his eyes speak of countless experiences and perhaps even hidden pain, hinting at a life shaped by both darkness and moments of fleeting joy. His dimples, when they appear with his playful grin, betray a side of him that is alluringly charismatic. Your heart rate increases.
The vampire's closeness sends shivers down your spine, making it difficult to concentrate on anything but the intensity in his gaze. There's something magnetic about the way he looks at you — a combination of mystery and longing that leaves you yearning for more. Suddenly you feel embarrassed and turn your head away, trying to regain your composure.
Astarion reaches out a hand to help you up, his touch lingering for a moment longer than necessary. As you stand, brushing off the dirt from your clothes, you can't help but wonder if this training session is about more than just swordplay. The thought lingers in your mind, but you dismiss it as mere imagination. After all, Astarion is a vampire, and vampires are notorious for their charm and seductive nature. It's likely just another game for him. Still, as he continues to guide you through the motions, his touch remains gentle yet firm, leaving you with a strange mix of exhilaration and unease. You can't deny the growing attraction between you, even though you know the danger that lies in indulging in such desires.
— One more time! — He gasped as he got into an attacking position again. You nod, your heartbeat still erratic as you gather yourself. With renewed determination, you resume the sparring match, your focus sharpened by the lingering touch. The dance of blades between you and Astarion intensifies, each move a calculated display of skill and agility. As the minutes tick by, a silent understanding forms between you, a bond forged in the heat of combat ...

Hey! How would the Baki men react to a half-Succubus fighter?
For the characters can we pls get: Baki, Hanayma, Retsu and Katsumi? Feel free to skip if you don’t feel comfortable with this request!!!
Tumblr media
Baki
In the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, a world of underground fighting tournaments concealed itself behind the shimmering façade of the city's neon lights. It was here that the enigmatic Baki Hanma, the undisputed champion of the underground fighting scene, had forged his legend. But little did he know that his life was about to take a turn as he encountered someone truly unique – (Y/N), a half-succubus fighter with extraordinary abilities.
(Y/N) was a fighter like no other, possessing a tantalizing blend of human and succubus traits. Her striking beauty, captivating allure, and the innate power to manipulate desire left her opponents utterly spellbound in the ring. The audience couldn't get enough of her, both fascinated and entranced by her otherworldly charm.
Baki had heard the rumors of this alluring fighter but never paid them much attention. He had his own battles to conquer, his own reputation to uphold. That was until the fateful night when he found himself face-to-face with (Y/N) in the ring. As the crowd roared in anticipation, the two fighters locked eyes, and something electric passed between them.
The fight was fierce, a clash of raw strength and seductive enchantment. Baki's powerful punches met (Y/N)'s seductive sway, neither one giving an inch. But as the battle raged on, Baki realized that there was more to this captivating woman than met the eye. Her prowess in combat was no less awe-inspiring than her seductive powers. The fight was evenly matched, and Baki felt a strange attraction, not just to her appearance, but to the fighter within her.
As the fight reached its climax, (Y/N) could feel the audience's growing fascination, but it was Baki who fascinated her the most. His raw strength and unwavering determination were unlike anything she had ever encountered. Her heart raced with a mixture of desire and admiration, and she couldn't help but wonder what lay beneath his tough exterior.
In a surprising twist, the match ended in a draw, leaving the audience in an uproar. Baki and (Y/N) stood there, breathing heavily, the intensity of the fight still coursing through their veins. Their eyes locked once more, but this time it was different. There was a mutual respect that went beyond the ring.
In the days that followed, Baki and (Y/N) found themselves drawn to each other. They trained together, learning from one another's unique fighting styles, and slowly, their connection deepened. Baki saw the strength in (Y/N) beyond her succubus abilities, and (Y/N) saw the vulnerability in Baki that he rarely revealed to anyone.
One evening, under the city's dazzling lights, they sat together, sharing stories of their past, dreams for the future, and the unspoken attraction that had grown between them. Baki confessed, "You're not like anyone I've ever met. You're not just a fighter, (Y/N). You're a mystery that I can't resist."
(Y/N) smiled, her enchanting aura flickering, but her eyes were warm and genuine. "And you, Baki Hanma, are not just a champion. You're a man with a heart that's as powerful as your fists."
Their lips met in a kiss that ignited a passion that was both fierce and tender, their love story as unique and captivating as the fights they had conquered. Baki and (Y/N) found in each other a love that transcended the boundaries of their worlds, proving that in the midst of battles and desires, the most powerful force of all was the connection between two souls.
Tumblr media
Kaoru Hanayama
In the gritty underbelly of Tokyo's underground fighting circuit, Kaoru Hanayama was renowned for his exceptional strength and unbreakable spirit. A towering figure with a reputation as a fierce and unyielding fighter, few dared to cross his path. But when he encountered a fighter like no other, (Y/N), a half-succubus with her own unique powers, his world was turned upside down.
(Y/N) was a mesmerizing blend of human and succubus traits. Her striking beauty, irresistible allure, and the supernatural ability to manipulate desire made her a force to be reckoned with in the ring. She could enthrall and seduce her opponents, leaving them defenseless in her wake.
One fateful night, the two warriors found themselves in the same underground arena. The audience buzzed with anticipation as they stepped into the ring. It was a matchup of power and enchantment, and Hanayama couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity and excitement he hadn't experienced before.
The fight was intense, a clash of raw physical strength against the enchanting sway of (Y/N). Hanayama's punches were relentless, but (Y/N)'s supernatural allure had an almost hypnotic effect on him. It was as if she held a power that he couldn't entirely resist. The audience was enraptured by her seductive charm, and for the first time in his life, Hanayama felt a sense of vulnerability.
As the fight reached its climax, neither warrior could gain the upper hand. (Y/N) felt an unfamiliar attraction, not just to Hanayama's formidable physicality, but to the man within. His sheer determination and resilience fascinated her, and she couldn't help but admire the unyielding spirit he displayed.
In an unexpected turn of events, the match ended in a draw, and they both stood in the center of the ring, breathing heavily. Their eyes locked, and something had changed between them. It was more than just a fight; it was a connection that transcended the boundaries of the arena.
In the following days, Hanayama and (Y/N) found themselves drawn together. They trained side by side, exchanging their fighting techniques, and slowly, a bond formed. Hanayama saw the strength and depth within (Y/N) beyond her supernatural abilities, while (Y/N) saw the unexpected tenderness and complexity within Hanayama's tough exterior.
One evening, they found themselves alone under the starless Tokyo sky. Hanayama, who was known for his stoic nature, looked into (Y/N)'s eyes and said, "You're not like anyone I've ever met. You're not just a fighter; you're a captivating enigma."
(Y/N) smiled, her succubus aura flickering faintly. "And you, Kaoru Hanayama, are not just a brute force. You have a heart that matches the power in your fists."
Their lips met in a kiss that was a mix of fiery passion and unexpected tenderness. In each other, they found a love that defied the expectations of their world, proving that even the fiercest fighters could be captivated by a force more potent than any battle. In the realm of desire and combat, Kaoru Hanayama and (Y/N) discovered that love was the most formidable power of all.
Tumblr media
Retsu Kaioh
In the heart of Tokyo's underground fighting scene, Retsu Kaioh was celebrated for his disciplined martial arts prowess. His aura exuded calm and control, standing in stark contrast to the chaos of the clandestine world he dominated. But everything changed the night he met someone entirely unlike any fighter he had ever faced—(Y/N), a half-succubus with enchanting allure and unique abilities.
(Y/N) was a mesmerizing blend of human and succubus, with beauty that could captivate the entire room and the innate power to manipulate desire. In the arena, her opponents often found themselves drawn to her irresistible charms, struggling to fight back the desires that she awakened within them.
One fateful night, Retsu Kaioh stepped into the ring with (Y/N), and the crowd fell silent. The battle that unfolded was one of mesmerizing contrast. Kaioh's disciplined martial arts met (Y/N)'s entrancing allure, and the balance of power seemed to teeter on a fine edge.
As the fight raged on, Kaioh felt an unusual fascination that transcended mere combat. He marveled at (Y/N)'s ability to bewitch her opponents, but there was something more profound within her, something that went beyond the succubus powers. He sensed a fierce determination, a fighter's spirit, hidden behind her enchanting facade.
Similarly, (Y/N) was intrigued by Kaioh. She could feel his unwavering discipline and control, which seemed impenetrable. His inner strength was a magnetic force, and as the fight reached its zenith, she found herself drawn not just to his martial skills but to the man himself.
The match ended in a surprising draw, leaving both fighters in the center of the ring, breathless and transfixed. Their eyes met, and something unspoken passed between them. It was not just the attraction of combat, but a recognition of a unique connection.
In the days that followed, Kaioh and (Y/N) found themselves drawn to each other. They trained together, each learning from the other's unique skills, and a bond formed that transcended the arena. Kaioh saw the determination and strength in (Y/N) that went beyond her succubus abilities, and (Y/N) saw the depth of character and honor that resided within Kaioh.
One evening, beneath the neon lights of Tokyo, they sat together, sharing stories and dreams. Kaioh admitted, "You're not like anyone I've ever met. You possess a power beyond anything I've seen, but it's your spirit that truly captivates me."
(Y/N) smiled, her enchanting aura gently flickering. "And you, Retsu Kaioh, are not just a disciplined fighter. You have a heart that is as remarkable as your skills."
Their lips met in a kiss that was a delicate blend of passion and admiration. Together, they found a love that defied the expectations of their world, proving that in the midst of combat and desire, there was a power even more profound—the connection between two souls. Retsu Kaioh and (Y/N) discovered that love was the most extraordinary force, a force that could transform even the most disciplined heart.
Tumblr media
Katsumi Orochi
In the heart of the bustling Tokyo underground fighting scene, Katsumi Orochi was a fierce and enigmatic figure. His reputation as a ruthless and relentless fighter preceded him, and his opponents dreaded the moment they would cross paths. However, Katsumi's life took an unexpected turn the day he encountered a fighter unlike any other—(Y/N), a half-succubus with captivating allure and unique abilities.
(Y/N) was a striking blend of human and succubus traits, with an irresistible beauty that left those who faced her in the ring entranced. Her innate power to manipulate desire often led her opponents into a bewildering state of infatuation, making it difficult for them to focus on the fight.
One fateful evening, Katsumi Orochi found himself in the ring with (Y/N). The audience hushed in anticipation, knowing that this battle would be like no other. It was a clash of raw power and seductive charm, a match that would leave an indelible mark on both fighters.
As the fight unfolded, Katsumi was astounded by (Y/N)'s unique abilities. He felt an inexplicable attraction, not just to her physical beauty but to the strength that lay beneath. It was as if she held a power that was unlike any he had ever encountered, and it unnerved him. Her seductive sway made him question the hardened exterior he had built over the years.
Likewise, (Y/N) found herself fascinated by Katsumi Orochi. Beneath his ruthless reputation, she saw a fighter of unyielding determination, a man who was unafraid to embrace his power and face his adversaries head-on. As the fight reached its peak, she couldn't help but admire the strength and depth within him.
In a surprising turn of events, the match ended in a draw, leaving both fighters breathless and standing in the center of the ring. Their eyes locked, and a palpable tension hung in the air. It wasn't just attraction but an unspoken connection that transcended the boundaries of the fight.
In the days that followed, Katsumi and (Y/N) found themselves drawn to one another. They trained together, each learning from the other's unique abilities and skills. An unexpected bond formed, one that went beyond the confines of the arena. Katsumi recognized the strength and resilience in (Y/N) that exceeded her succubus abilities, while (Y/N) saw the vulnerability and complexity within Katsumi that he rarely revealed to others.
One evening, under the Tokyo night sky, they sat together, sharing their stories and dreams. Katsumi confessed, "You're not like anyone I've ever met. Your allure is captivating, but it's your inner strength that truly astonishes me."
(Y/N) smiled, her enchanting aura flickering softly. "And you, Katsumi Orochi, are not just a ruthless fighter. There's a depth to you that is as intriguing as your combat skills."
Their lips met in a kiss that was a blend of fiery passion and unexpected tenderness. In each other, they found a love that defied the expectations of their world, proving that in the midst of battle and desire, there was a force more powerful than any other—the connection between two souls. Katsumi Orochi and (Y/N) discovered that love was the most extraordinary force, capable of melting even the hardest of hearts.

A Worthy Successor
Beth’s eyes widened in terror as the ominous voice echoed through her mind. "No! I won't let you! I won't let you take over my body! No! Noooooooohhhhhh!" Her desperate plea filled the dimly lit room.
Tumblr media
Suddenly, the air grew heavy, and an unnatural calm settled upon Beth. A sinister chuckle resonated, followed by a soothing voice that whispered, "Mmmm, that's much better. I don’t know why you fought against this Beth, your innocent little body will be the perfect vessel for me. You should be honoured that you’ll become the new Black Queen! But if we’re going to strike fear into this world then we’re going have to look a little more... wicked."
The room quivered with an otherworldly energy as shadows danced around Beth, twisting and contorting. An eerie silence fell before a surge of dark power consumed her. The transformation began, and the air crackled with malevolence, signaling the birth of a formidable force within the unsuspecting church mouse.
"No! This can't be happening! Stop!" Beth’s desperate cries filled were voiceless inside her head as the dark power intensified around her. Her own voice chuckled with a sinister delight. "Embrace it, my dear. You'll thank me for the gift I’m about to bestow upon you."
Despite having no control over her body anymore, Beth felt a strange warmth spreading from within her. "What... What are you doing to me?" she stammered, her voice quivering.
The Black Queen's laughter echoed, drowning out Beth’s protests. "You'll soon find out, my pet. Watch as your dull world transforms."
Beth’s chest began to swell, and she gasped, feeling the fabric of her clothing stretch against the burgeoning curves. "No, stop! I don't want this!"
But the dark queen's whispers continued, weaving through her thoughts like a venomous thread. "Oh, but you do. I can see inside your mind that you’ve always wanted respect, power, control. I am giving that to you. Embrace the beauty and power I grant you. Become the vessel I seek."
Resisting the changes, Beth’s once-flat chest now defied her will and gravity, blossoming into a voluptuous display. “What have you done to me?”
A seductive laughter filled the room. “I’ve only just begun, my dear. I’ll give you a new form that will turn heads and command the attention you so desperately crave.”
Beth’s ordinary brown hair transformed into a cascade of silky black, each strand shimmering with an otherworldly glow. The glow seemed to extended to her skin which changed from her usual pale to a deep brown tan. Long sharp nails painted a deceptively soft pink shot out of her fingers. The Black Queen observed her reflection in the mirror allowing Beth her first glimpse at her transformed body.
The Black Queen’s voice resonated with triumph. “Behold, you are now a vision of beauty and power. You are no longer a mouse; you are a lioness of wicked beauty.”
Beth couldn’t believe how she looked. Her plain body had been warped into a wicked altar of beauty and cruelty. And yet, with each passing moment, Beth’s resistance waned. A conflicted expression crossed her face, torn between fear and a growing fascination with the newfound allure.
As the Black Queen’s power continued its course, Beth, her voice now a hesitant whisper, uttered, “Please… more. Change me further.” The once defiant good girl found herself succumbing to the Black Queen’s irresistible influence.
“A Queen does not plead; they demand, they take. Go ahead, Beth, change yourself further.” The black queen’s command echoed through Samantha’s mind, and a surge of dark magic coursed through her veins. Control over her own body returned, and Beth found herself standing at the precipice of an important decision.
The newfound power within her granted the ability to exorcise the black queen, to reclaim herself from the clutches of this malevolent force. However, the allure of the dark transformation lingered, a tempting proposition that whispered of untold power and wicked beauty. The power felt too good, she looked too good. All she wanted now was to be bad.
With an evil smirk crossing her lips, Beth embraced the dark power that coursed through her veins. Raising her hands, she conjured a malevolent energy that enveloped her.
"Well, well, my dear aren’t you a natural," the dark voice whispered within Beth's mind. "Show the world the irresistible allure of shadows."
Beth's eyes gleamed with dark intensity as she surveyed her reflection. "Watch and learn," she replied, her voice now a sultry whisper, a stark contrast to her former self.
The once-subdued garments gave way to a tight-fitting, glossy black strapless oufit that clung to every curve. Intricate red patterns adorned the fabric, forming arcane symbols that seemed to writhe and pulse with an unholy energy. The outfit accentuated Beth's voluptuous figure, leaving little to the imagination.
"Is this what you desire?" the dark voice purred. Beth, with a wicked smile, replied, "Oh, it's only the beginning."
Her legs, now encased in knee-high boots crafted from shimmering obsidian leather, exuded a seductive allure. The boots, adorned with silver spikes along the heels, added a touch of danger to each step. Beth's reflection in the mirror revealed the transformation—a vixen of shadows, ready to command the forces of darkness.
Sleeves of sheer obsidian fabric billowed around her arms, as if woven from shadows themselves. A high, embellished collar framed her delicate features, imparting an air of dark authority.
"A queen should command attention," the dark voice echoed. Beth, with a flourish of her hand, summoned a flowing, sheer cape around her waist. It billowed with an otherworldly breeze that seemed to originate from the abyss itself. The inside of the cape was lined with red velvet, adding an air of regal malevolence.
As she completed the ensemble, Beth's eyes glowed with black intensity, mirroring the dark magic that surged within her. Her hands, adorned with talon-like nails, hovered over her transformed self with a newfound sense of mastery.
Tumblr media
"Behold the queen of darkness," Beth declared, her smirk deepening. The room, now tinged with an aura of dark enchantment, bore witness to Beth's transformation into a queen of wicked beauty, fully embracing the dark path laid before her.
"Ah, my worthy successor," the dark voice resonated with a sinister satisfaction. "You have passed the test, Beth. You shall bring this world under your heel."
Beth's eyes gleamed with triumph as the dark magic continued to pulse within her. "Of course, I am worthy," she declared with an evil cackle. "I am the black queen, and this world shall bow before me."
The room seemed to shudder with the weight of Beth's newfound power. Her laughter echoed, a chilling symphony of malevolence that heralded the rise of a dark monarch. The glossy black bodysuit clung to her like a second skin, and the obsidian boots echoed with each step she took.
"I shall revel in chaos, and my reign will be one of wicked splendor," Beth declared, her voice dripping with arrogance. The cape billowed behind her as she reveled in the proclamation of her dark destiny.
Beth, with an air of regal arrogance, extended her hands, reveling in the malevolent power coursing through her veins. The once-timid girl had fully embraced her role as the black queen, ready to unleash her reign of wickedness upon the unsuspecting world.

Hello, Rouka! I love your blog and the way your mind works. Thank you for all you contribute to the fandom. I saw your post about Jon not becoming a NK and wondered whether you think there is a possibility of Bran becoming the leader of the Others instead? What if the "King Bran" spoiler GRRM gave D&D actually meant a Night's King Bran ending instead of King of Westeros (or the south at least) Bran? I feel like he's being led toward something like that through his connection with the weirwoods, but perhaps his arc is about rejecting that type of power and choosing non-magical leadership instead?
Hello, and thank you so much for your kind words! :)
My take on the Night King is that there's more than a little of Stannis in there, a leader who succumbs to the seductive call of otherworldly power. The Night King and the Corpse Queen mentally enslave his fellow Night's Watch brothers (potentially through warg-like powers?) and make unspecified sacrifices that may or may not resemble those made by Craster. It takes an alliance of enemies to defeat them.
He brought her back to the Nightfort and proclaimed her a queen and himself her king, and with strange sorceries he bound his Sworn Brothers to his will. For thirteen years they had ruled, Night's King and his corpse queen, till finally the Stark of Winterfell and Joramun of the wildlings had joined to free the Watch from bondage. After his fall, when it was found he had been sacrificing to the Others, all records of Night's King had been destroyed, his very name forbidden. (ASOS, Bran IV)
All of this reeks of blood magic, to the point where I see the corpse queen as a metaphor for this icy version of blood magic, if she is not a priestly figure similar to Melisandre.
I don't think that this represents a concrete leadership position over the Others, certainly not in the future. (I think the ice threat will be definitively ended.) But it's a template of abuse of power that fits villains like Stannis or Dany, and it may touch on an ancient crime committed by a Stark in connection with blood magic and is likely related to the Starks' inherited warg powers.
I do think that Bran is connected to this tale, in terms of a parallel, as he too is enslaving Hodor with his mind and unable to resist the temptation of abusing his warging ability. He could become the Stark that turns evil, if he chose. He is the representation of the ancient history of House Starks that likely needs correcting. All those Brandons...
"Some say he was a Bolton," Old Nan would always end. "Some say a Magnar out of Skagos, some say Umber, Flint, or Norrey. Some would have you think he was a Woodfoot, from them who ruled Bear Island before the ironmen came. He never was. He was a Stark, the brother of the man who brought him down." She always pinched Bran on the nose then, he would never forget it. "He was a Stark of Winterfell, and who can say? Mayhaps his name was Brandon. Mayhaps he slept in this very bed in this very room." (ASOS, Bran IV)
His growing power and his ability to see and even manipulate the past may even end up leading Bran into a position that seems like a mirror to Daenerys with the Dothraki. She is more than likely going to unite the khalasars at Vaes Dothrak, or at least defeat the current leadership, cause immense destruction to their holy site and end up leading a sizable new army of dangerous warriors.
Bran seemingly taking up a position of power, leadership or influence over the wights or in collusion with the Others is a very plausible development in the lead-up to his return South and the resolution to this threat. The weirwood cave is unlikely to remain safe for long. The crone-like Bloodraven married to the tree, drawing Bran into his world, mirrors the dosh khaleen. If Vaes Dothrak faces destruction, so does this strange underworldly cave world.
It's for Bran to decide whether he wants to choose blood magic and follow that dark part of his heritage, or whether he wants to right some wrongs and sacrifice his powers and his dreams, turn away from the corpse (queen) and fight for human life.

AN A24 PICK’N’CHOOSE SPECIAL TREAT FOR YOU, CREATURES OF THE NIGHT !
As you can see, this year, I chose the studio a24 as a reference for my simblreen treats. What’s a24 ? An independant movie production studio that produces the best (or at least, very original) indie movies of the last two decades. They release all kind of movies but I have to admit that the a24 thrillers/horror ones are part of the best I’ve seen the past decade. As I saw and loved most of them, I decided to share with you this little gift, also as a way to for you to discover all these powerfull movies. But beware, most of them might change your life ....
a24 isn’t properly horror as you can imagine it the old way ... a24 is more pschological, focused on trauma usually and really makes you think about what you’re seeing or have seen just after the movie ends.
Below the cut you’ll find the list of all the movies with a little synopsis and a personnal thought about it if I saw it (adding the numbers of swatches for posters and sweaters) and you can also check the sweater swatches.
Get and choose your treats HERE (SFS, no adfly, always free, NO SIMSDOM OR ANY KIND OF PAYWALL/WEBSITE THAT USES OUR CREATIONS TO MAKE PROFIT, do not claim as your own, etc ... Don’t be a dick honey)
+ 2023 UPDATE : Get your new posters ! Added Beau Is Afraid and Talk To Me !
GIFT 1 : 132 a24 movie posters ! A lot of different swatches so you can use it on a lot of different style of room / builds. They’re all free in game (that way your sims could enjoy some good art without losing money) and can be found in the posters category. (type Madeofcc or a24 to find them easily).
GIFT 2 : PEARL ♥ A lovely killer to download. I’m bad at making real people in sims so she’s more a lookalike than a real Mia Goth sim. All the cc are included. She has just one outfit though.
GIFT 3 : 40 @clumsyalienn Blanche Sweater recolour. I added to new swatches to the original cc so you don’t have the same cc twice in your game. Delete the old one if you have it, I kept the original swatches and added the a24 ones I made. They’re all black though as I didn’t know which colour to choose. Black is always essential.

List of a24 horror movies (in order)
Under the skin, directed by Jonathan Glazer (2014) - 1 sweater + 5 posters
An otherworldly woman preys on men in Scotland through seduction. (one of the first horror movie that made me sad at the end. The first part of the movie will make you have a loooot of questions about what’s going on until you get to the end and realize what you’ve seen ... It’s a powerfull tell about hunt, humanity and how beautifull and dangerous the world can be)
Life after Beth directed by Jeff Baena (2014) - 1 sweater + 5 posters
After his girlfriend dies and miraculously comes back to life, Zach takes the opportunity to experience all the things he regretted not doing with her before. (still have to see it ... But Aubrey Plaza is awesome in everything so this should be good. It’s a horror comedy)
Tusk directed by Kevin Smith (2014) - 5 posters
A podcaster is tortured by a strange man who plans to fit him into a perfectly constructed walrus costume. (you read it corrrectly ... one of the most disturbing movie I’ve seen in my life ! It’s basically some kind of human centipede thing in which a man is turned into a walrus of flesh and bones ! It is very disturbing but also has a strong reflexion on humanity. But seriously, think twice about watching it because you’ll never forget it)
The VVitch directed by Robert Eggers (2016) - 4 sweaters + 5 posters
In the 17th century, a Puritan family encounters forces of evil in the woods beyond their New England farm. (I discovered one of my new favourite director and actress with this first movie ! The Witch is not like any other witch movie that will make you see an old creepy woman do horrible things ... Evil is more insidious and the director makes you think about you’re seeing/happening most of the time. The end is awesome and Anyah Taylor Joy really shows that she’s one of the best actress of her generation in just one take. Would you like to live deliciously ?)
Green Room directed by Jeremie Saulnier (2016) - 1 sweater + 5 posters
A punk band finds themselves attacked by neo-Nazi skinheads after witnessing a murder at a remote club. (one of the last Anton Yelchin’s movie. It’s raw, violent and with a permanent tension ! The cinematography is awesome, you really have that green effect all along and, let’s face it, seeing a bunch of racists getting killed by a punk rock band isn’t the hardest thing to watch, even though, the movie is really violent ^^’ it’s also good to see Patrick Stewart walking once in a while)
Into the forest directed by Patricia Rozema (2016) - 5 posters
Two sisters living with their father have their peaceful lives interrupted after a continent-wide power outage. (still have to see it because it hasn’t been release in France. I’m not sure it’s properly a horror movie but apocalypse is always a good theme, especially with two good actor/actress such as Elliott Page and Evan Rachel Wood. It’s also directed by a woman so support female director !)
The Monster directed by Brian Bertino (2016) - 1 poster
A woman and her daughter find themselves stranded at night with a malicious creature hunting them. (I didn’t like it in my memory. Saw it a while ago to see Zoe Kazan but it wasn’t what I expected. It’s just a personnal opinion though)
The Blackcoat’s Daughter directed by Oz Perkins (2017) - 1 sweater+ 4 posters
Two girls left behind at their boarding school over winter break must battle a mysterious force of evil. (I remember watching this movie because of Emma Roberts but I don’t remember the plot at all ... It might be good though, but it really didn’t make a place in my head I guess ...)
It comes at night directed by Trey Edward Shults (2017) - 3 posters
A family hides in a forest as the Earth is taken over by a highly contagious disease. (it wasn’t what I expected at all so in my memory I didn’t like it but the story is interesting and it’s all about what we think could happen and what especially happens in the dark. At the end, we’re facing a simple human drama. Devastating)
The Killing of a sacred deer directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (2017) - 2 sweaters + 5 posters
After a cardiac surgeon befriends a teenage boy with a connection to his past, his family begins to fall mysteriously ill. (I could have included all Yorgos Lanthimos movies because they’re all a bit spooky in a way but this one is close to Funny Games, in a weird way. There’s not a lot happening and most long shot but the tension is permanent and the story, really, scary)
Hereditary directed by Ari Aster (2018) - 4 sweaters + 5 posters
A family is haunted by an evil presence after the death of their secretive grandmother. (this one really made a move in the horror genre. Ari Aster created one of the most terrifying film of the decade with this one that will probably haunts you as well after you saw it. Personally, I still have in mind a lot of crazy scenes, years after seeing them! The ending especially has traumatized me a bit ^^” it is very disturbing and a brilliant horror movie)
Slice directed by Austin Visely (2018) - 1 sweater + 2 posters
Following the violent murders of several pizza deliverymen, two survivors set out to catch the culprits. (Still have to see it, it’s a horror comedy)
The Hole in the ground directed by Lee Cronin (2019) - 3 posters
After her son briefly vanishes, Sarah begins to fear that the boy who returned may not be her son at all. (Still have to see it but looks like some kind of Babadook story around here ... Might be good)
Climax directed by Gaspar Noé (2019) - 2 sweaters + 5 posters
A French dance troupe throws a party that takes a dark turn after everyone consumes sangria laced with LSD.  (Only saw the 15 first minutes. I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of this director, even though he really can be talented, his work is most of the time super violent and hard to watch so, beware before watching this one as well. I’m not sure I’ll ever watch that film again because I’m scared to see what could happen ><)
High Life directed by Claire Denis (2019) - 3 posters
A group of criminals is sent on a space mission, traveling towards a black hole. (I love Claire Denis and Robert Pattinson (except in Twilight) so this one was a good surprise ! This movie is the perfect example that you don’t need a big budget to actually make a good SF movie ! It was also a new way to see all the usual bullshit that can happen in space horror, mixed with a touch of french cinema so ... A real experience)
Midsommar directed by Ari Aster (2019) - 4 sweaters + 7 posters
A group of friends travels to Sweden for a festival that occurs once every 90 years, only to find themselves in the clutches of a Scandinavian pagan cult. (Ari Aster is back ! After the trauma of Hereditary, now we travel with Florence Pugh and her depression in Sweden for a bloody and very loooooong Midsommar ! This movie is an experience like no other. It’s long, around 2h30 and 3h if you watch the director’s cut (I saw both and the director’s one is kind of better with just little addition, anyway) The story is simple but the screenplay is well made and will give you the thrill without showing you anything but flowers and sunlight. The ending is shocking but a releaf for the viewer as well as for Florence Pugh’s character ... I still don’t know if I love or hate this movie though XD)
The Lighthouse directed by Robert Eggers (2019)- 4 sweaters + 6 posters
Stranded on an island, two lighthouse keepers descend into madness. (After The Witch, now the men ... This movie confirmed that Robert Eggers was a new director to follow. With The Lighthouse, Eggers creates a beautifull but terrifying piece of art here, with amazing actors (Dafo is, as usual, as brilliant as scary crazy, and Pattinson really shows a new card here but I won’t say more). This movie is kind of disturbing in a way that you’ll experiment the close space and environment where the characters live but you’ll also fall pretty deep into their insanity ...)
In Fabric directed by Peter Strickland (2019) - 1 sweater + 3 posters
A haunted red dress torments its owners.  (I watched the first 40 minutes, which were weird. I love that we have a black female character for the lead but I was also very disturbed by one particular scene with an old white man so I kind of stopped the movie to watch it another time ...)
Saint Maude directed by Rose Glass (2021) - 1 sweater + 6 posters
Hospice nurse Maud, a recent convert to Roman Catholicism, becomes obsessed with saving the soul of one of her patients. (still have to see it but I always love weird creepy story about christians .... White people are the craziest ... Same vibes as the Servant serie)
False Positive directed by John Lee (2021) - 1 poster
A woman begins to suspect there is something sinister about her pregnancy.  (still have to see it ... There’s Justin Theroux in it so at least there’s something nice to look at I guess ...)
Lamb directed by Valdimar Jóhannsson (2021)- 4 ADA sweaters + 5 posters
A childless couple in rural Iceland finds themselves parenting an endearing but unsettlingly humanoid lamb. (okay ... This one ... I saw it few weeks ago and it really was something. The story is very simple and could be resume in 2 sentences just to tell you the entire movie. It’s pretty long as there’s not a lot going on but the tension is weirdly permanent, you know that something is coming but you don’t know what, when, where ... Ada, the little Lamb, will first make you say “wtf” at least 15 times until you realise you’re as addicted to her as her adoptive mom ... Anyway, never fuck around with nature ♥)
X directed by Ti West (2022) - 2 sweaters + 5 posters
A production team filming a porno finds themselves in danger while staying in a secluded farmhouse in Texas. (One of the best surprise of the year ! I watch it mainly for the cast and also the see a bunch of people being killed by some old couple but I really didn’t expect that ! The movie takes a looot of time to settle everything to make everything kind of explode in a extreme rage at the end of the movie. The death are gory, violent and the characters are as well written as the already iconic vilain of the movie : Pearl ♥ Mia Goth and Ti West really created a new iconic horror vilain here that we actually would like to see more ! This movie is also the first to be released but the second in the story order as Ti West decided to make a prequel and a sequel to X ! I already look further to discover them)
Men directed by Alex Garland (2022) - 4 posters
A young woman goes on a solo vacation in the English countryside after the death of her ex-husband. (Veeeeeery spooky this one ! Alex Garland is a brilliant director and really made a beautifull movie here. Not that the story will make you cry like a beautifull life drama, no. Alex Garland is a director that pictures nature perfectly. Focusing on flowers and trees rather than blood and guts, he really created here a brilliant allegory of the male toxicity around. Some scene are as beautifull as traumatic and you’ll probably never see you mail box on your door the same way, ever ...)
Bodies, Bodies, Bodies directed by Alina Reijn (2022) - 6 posters
A murder transpires during a party between young, rich, and backstabbing friends. (Finally saw it this week and .... It was not was I expected but it was probably one of the funniest a24 horror I’ve seen ! The movie is a good criticism about insta girls/guys who are so selfish they don’t realize what’s happening around them XD You’ll probably never forget that ending !)
Pearl directed by Ti West (2022) - 2 sweaters + 5 posters
A prequel to X, it follows the origins of Pearl and how she became the person she was. (A brilliant masterpiece ! Mia Goth is amazing and really deserves all the awards for her performance ! Really one of the best film I saw in 2022 ...  Ti West and Mia Goth are also preparing a sequel to X called Maxxxine, that will be released next year)
Beau Is Afraid by Ari Aster (2023) - 6 posters
A paranoid man embarks on an epic odyssey to get home to his mother ... (Still have to see it ... It’s 3h long ... But it looks epic indeed.)
Talk To Me by Danny and Michael Philippou (2023) - 6 posters
When a group of friends discover how to conjure spirits using an embalmed hand, they become hooked on the new thrill, until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces. (I have to admit that it was not what I expected - a slasher with Death - but it was scary and spooky. The hand thing is really creepy and there’s some very violent moment that you’re not ready to forget ...)
+ EXTRA SWATCHES : these films aren’t typically horror but they’re some kind of creepy and a24 with good visuals so ...
Enemy directed by Denis Villeneuve (2013) + 2 sweaters + 7 posters
The lives of two identical men with two distinct personas become intertwined. (2 Jake Gyllenhall in 1 movie ... Come on !!!! An instant masterpiece)
Under the Silver Lake directed by David Robert Mitchell (2019) (suggested by @bauhauzzz thanks a lot ♥) 2 sweaters + 5 posters
A young man investigates the sudden disappearance of his neighbor, only to stumble upon a dangerous conspiracy.  (Andrew Garfield as a crazy characters for the director of It Follows ... A long, mysterious experience in my memory, with a shocking ending and a lot of David Lynch vibes)

Thirty One Days of Horror Movies! Day Eight :D
Tumblr media
:D
I mean you all guessed it had to be this one today, right?
HELLRAISER :D
When recovering addict Riley and her boyfriend Trevor rob a container belonging to the wealthy and sinister Roland Voight they end up with more than they bargained for when a certain puzzle box ends up in Riley’s posession...a box that once opened brings her to the attention of the infamous Cenobites and puts her and her friends and loved ones on a path to horrors beyond imagining...
Proving that 2022 is a year of good surprises as well as bad, this year delivers something I thought I may never see again in my lifetime...A GOOD HELLRAISER MOVIE. After years of in-name-only sequels and one very terrible earlier attempt at a reboot that was so bad Clive Barker insisted they take his name off it, we finally have a movie that can stand alongside the first three films as being genuinely ACTUALLY good
The film has an excellent cast and I most of all have to gush about the utterly incredible Jamie Clayton. Anyone who had doubts about someone else being able to fill Doug Bradley’s shoes can put those aside as her performance here as the Cenobite Priest (Or “Pinhead” as the fandom likes to call them) is fantastic...returning the menace the character had in earlier films mixed with a strange otherworldly seductiveness that suits the themes behind the Cenobites as beings that embody the absolute extremes of pleasure and pain. She’s clearly loving getting the chance to play such a horror icon here and she’s fantastic <3
The plot is well written with some enoyable twists and turns along the way, one of which I genuinely never saw coming and with scenes that return the movie to the disturbing, visceral and horrific roots of the franchise after years of “Sequels” that felt more like low budget slasher movies than true Hellraiser films
The practical effects are fantastic and the revamped designs for the Cenobites are incredible. They truly feel like they could have been plucked right from Clive Barker’s wonderfully warped imagination here
While the film has some nice nods to the first movie this also serves as an enjoyable story in its own right...and I’m very glad that despite this being a reboot they decided to tell a new story here rather than attempt to remake the first film
I would say if your a horror fan and especially if your a Hellraiser fan you are going to absolutely love this movie and personally I hope that this film will just be the start of a new chapter in the franchise with more movies to come
Give this movie a watch
IT HAS SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU :D

It's Fictional Throwdown Friday!
This Week's Fighters...
The Beast vs Daycare Attendant!
Conditions:
No restrictions.
Scenario:
Fazbear Entertainment decides to use the time traveling ball pit as an educational attraction by having their animatronics chaperone groups of kids through major historical events. The Daycare Attendant is tasked with chaperoning kids through World War 1 and winds up having to protect them from The Beast. Henri watches these events in utter bewilderment from the sidelines. Moon is the personality in control here.
Analysis: The Beast
World War 1. One of the most horrifically pointless bloodbaths in human history. A massive confict that spanned continents and nations, the battlefield of the era was rife with brutal death from disease, outdated tactics, and commanders who couldn't give less of a shit about their men. It is a brutal chapter that has left its mark on the book of history forevermore. Unfortunately for frenchmen Augustin Lambert and Henri Clément, the war itself was the least of the horrors they'd live through.
After a particularly brutal run through No Man's Land, Henri gives a seemingly dying Augustine a drink from a nearby mud hole, giving him the strength to get the two back to the safety of the nearby bunker. Unbeknownst to either of the two men, the pond was infected with the otherworldly Harvester pathogen, an element from a long dead alien world. The substance changed him, mentally and physically, into a hulking feral Beast.
By the time Henri woke up and recovered from his injuries, the man he'd known as Augustin Lambert was gone.
"I feel strange myself. Can barely find the words to write. My hands feel so odd. Gnarled, bulbous. Like they don't belong to me. I hesitate to write this but a thought keeps echoing in my head. A thought I must not act on. A bloody thought so seductive. It calls... it calls... it calls...."
"Blood on my hands blood on my hands blood on my hands. Their pain. I want more of it."
It's rather unfortunate for the French army that Lambert was a much better killing machine in death than he ever was in life. By the time Henri awakens to confront his old friend, every other soldier in the bunker is either dying or dead. Nothing the French army, let alone Henri, could throw at it could stop it. It walks around still impaled on swords, seemingly unable to feel pain. It smashes through the bunker's walls snd burrows through them like a rat, carefully listening for every sound. Stalking. Hunting. To some extent, even thinking. Leaving it's victims strewn about like trophies and bringing trinkets back to the pond it'd made its nest.
It's hollow, sunken in eyes see remarkably well in darkness, but it is in exchange easily stunned by bright light. Pistols and shotguns barely even drive it back, only enraging it as the bullets crumple against it. Even the explosives of the era only drive The Beast back for a time. By digging an elaborate system of tunnels across the bunker, The Beast was able to carefully pick the bunker apart through hunting tactics and brutal paranoia. For better or for worse... it was almost human still...
Henri stands little chance against it in a direct confrontation. And he's strong enough to completely smash wooden doors to splinters with a big enough bludgeon, with would require an energy equivalent to 516,644.24 joules. For reference, the explosives in his inventory only exploded with an energy equivalent to 251,000 joules.
Source:
Thankfully, Henri would find a way to put that humanity to rest. By distracting Lambert with the toy he'd bought for his son, Henri was able to lure the Beast over a massive bridge. In destroying it, he sent the Beast plummeting to be a meal for the Shadow lurking below.
To history, Augustin Lambert was just another casualty of war. To Henri, Lambert was the good man he'd killed.... and the Beast he'd created.
Analysis: The Moon
Before we continue with today's Fictional Throwdown Friday, please take a moment to hear a word from our sponsors.
Welcome, parents and children, one and all, to the return of your favorite childhood pizzeria! Freddy Fazbear's! Where fantasy and fun come to life! Now, we are well aware of our... less than family friendly reputation in the past, but please rest assured. Our newest location is the finest, grandest, and above all safest one yet! Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizzaplex!
And if you thought you heard any screams coming from the daycare after hours, please allow our legal team to put your fears to rest backstage.
Ahem. Alright, sponsership over. Back to the fight. For all the incompetent bluster and sketchy corporate scheming of Fazbear Incorporated, the Pizzaplex is every bit the technological marvel its advertised as. Protected by a complex VR based security system and staffed by some of the most advanced AI on Earth, Fazbear's is decades ahead of its competitors. With fully functional and sentient animatronics around every cornet, a Fazbear location has never been more advanced. Or more dangerous.
From the murderously jealous Montgomery Gator to the vain and bully Roxanne Wolf, the animatronics have never been more capable of mimicking human behavior and enacting just as much human evil as old William Afton himself. Not that that's kept him from being behind this slaughter as well. After Afton's soul turned itself into a computer virus and escaped from hell via a VR game (don't question it), Willy continued his quest to kill children and gain immortality. Only he's already immortal now so I guess he's just killing kids for the hell of it. Using his soul as a virus, William infected the animatronics with the aptly named Afton Virus to turn them into child murdering monsters just like himself. But while each of the Pizzaplex's monsters is terrifying in their own way, none is more dangerous or more feared than the Daycare Attendant.
Sun and Moon were not initially supposed to be a Daycare Attendant at all. They were initially designed as a theater animatronic, acting out stories with a heroic and villainous personality for Sun and Moon respectively. When Fazbear's decided to ditch the program, they reprogrammed the animatronic to manage the daycare instead, scrubbing the Moon personality and reprogramming. It... didn't work. Moon stuck around as a glitch in Sun's programming that resurfaced whenever the lights went off. Not a problem, just keep the lights on. Maybe just have Moon act as a "bedtime" animatronic and use his terrifying face to sell sleeping aids.
But, then the Afton Virus got involved. While Sun's protocols against hurting children allowed it to resist the Virus, Moon had no such fail safe. It was a glitch in the system with no code to protect him. This bedtime helper swiftly became the deadliest midnight predator in the Pizzaplex.
Moon's rotating limbs and thin frame give him a superhuman degree of flexibility and agility, allowing it to scramble through tight slides meant for preschoolers without as much as slowing down. The wire strapped to its back allows it to soar anywhere he pleases within the Pizzaplex, swimming and dancing through the sky with effortless finesse. He uses his built-in illusion disks to coat the Pizzaplex in darkness from the perspective of its prey, covering their vision with thick star effects to disorient them. Its possible the Moon even uses this power to hide the wire attached to his back, making it appear as though its soaring through the air. Possibly. It is also possible the Daycare Attendant can just flat out fly, given the many instance both Moon and the other personalities of the Attendant are seen flying with no wire visible at all.
With the ability to mask its approach and strike from any conceivable direction, you'll never see the animatronic coming until its too late. There's no where to hide, not when Moon is arguably both the smartest and strongest animatronic out for blood in the Pizxaplex. Moon is stronger than the Glamrock animatronics by a considerable margin, capable of both knocking Glamrock Freddy out with a single blow and ripping the young child Gregory out of his metal stomach hatch, being the only pursuer smart enough realize Gregory is hiding in there. This make him unbelievably stronger than any ordinary human could be, as the Glamrocks themselves are shown to be remarkably strong. Monty is strong enough to smash the padlock on a steel gate in one punch and Roxy can, even while heavily damaged and missing her eyes, ram right through wooden doors without slowing. In order to do that much damage, her charge would gave to generate an energy around 516,644.24 joules.
Source:
You can't run. Moon will scoop you up from the sky. You can't hide. Moon's smart enough to find you. You can't even fight. Bright flashes of light don't mess with Moon's eye sensors like what happens to other animatronics. So, what can stop Moon?
Well, continuous exposure to bright lights will eventually allow Sun to overtake the Moon personality again, much like how darkness allows Moon's personality to become dominant. However, being kept in darkness for months on end can allow Moon to overtake Sun completely, purging his personality. But, even in that case, there's a fallback. Surprisingly, Fazbear Incorporated actually had the foresight to install a failsafe in case the Daycare Attendant got out of hand. A third personality named Eclipse serves as the robot's safe mode, overtaking both Sun and Moon when active to protext the guests from a personality's malfunction.
This is ultimately how the Daycare Attendant was saved from being completely corrupted by the Afton Virus. When a small child named Cassie activated the failsafe, Eclipse took over, keeping Moon from perging Sun's personality and stopping the rampage. While the Pizzaplex may now lie in Ruins, the suffering of the Daycare Attendant, and it's many personalities, has ended.
Throwdown Theme:
youtube
Throwdown Breakdown:
This is... a surprisingly tricky one.
As far as raw strength is concerned, both of them are nearly dead even, as both can effortlessly one shot people who are strong enough to smash wooden doors to splinters. If anything, the feat slightly favors Moon, as Henri usually needs a heavy object to get through a door, while Roxy can just charge right through. You'd think that the Beast's ability to tank bullet and grenades would favor it, but actually... no. The grenades that Henri uses only have a yield of 251,000 joules, making surviving one a weaker feat than what both combatants have already performed. In all likelihood, the gap in strength is so minor as to be practically nonexistent.
Source:
The cramped conditions of the bunker would keep Moon from flying (assuming it can fly at all without a wire), but The Beast's ability to dig and fit through tunnels is countered out. Moon can just follow right after it, as he's designed to be flexible enough to fit into those small spaces and can chase prey through similarly cramped tunnels.
Both of them have an aversion to light and both have holdovers of more heroic personalities that they struggle with internally, so those factors cancel out. It's possible that Sun fighting against Moon internally slows Moon down at a crucial moment, but it's equally possible that the Beast's memories of being Lambert would do the same. And unless Lambert was reading up on animatronic maintenence in the trenches of No Man's Land, he's not gonna activate Eclipse either. So... what's the deciding factor.
With two characters who are this close in so many ways, the one major difference between the two is intelligence. While both of them stalk and hunt like savvy predators, Moon actually maintains a full degree of human level sentience. While the Beast is a clever predator, it is still animalistic and feral. This means that Moon's illusion disk abilities, as minor as they may be compared to, say, Springtrap sicking phantoms on you, would allow Moon to better confuse or outwit the Beast.
The Beast is ultimately an easily spooked animal. Remember, even though Henri's guns and weapons don't do any lasting damage to the Beast, they still manage to scare it off. Moon would be capable of the same, using its few illusions to confuse and outwit the Beast while using his greater intellect to outplan it. Sure, you can argue that being smarter didn't help the French army, but that's mostly because they all panicked and turned against each other when the killings started, along with both having to deal with the war and infected rats. Jn a situation where it's only a smarter combatant and The Beast, where the smarter foe is able to learn what they're dealing with, The Beast canonically comes up short.
Is it a minor advantage? Yes, absolutely. But it is still the advantage that allowed Henri to canonically kill the Beast, giving a presidence for its success. While Moon would almost certainly be needing a trip to maintenence afterwards, due to Lambert's animalistic brutality, it would ultimately win more often than not.
This Throwdown's Winner is....

Kathleen Ryan
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kathleen Ryan’s exhibition is a study of grossly overripe fruit: Fleshy chunks of festering “watermelon” are dispersed across two rooms while a twisted stem of deflated “grapes” regally occupies a third. Glimmering and putrescent, these enlarged, human-size sculptures of spoiled fruit are adorned with a seemingly infinite number of multicolored glass beads and semiprecious stones whose placement convincingly replicates the otherworldly abstractions of creeping mold spores. As contemporary bedfellows to sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Dutch vanitas of rotting food, they entangle excess with refuse and rebrand abjection as seduction. The underbellies of Ryan’s six bejeweled watermelon sculptures reveal sharp slivers of aluminum, dispelling the illusion of organicity. Fabricated from the hull of a scavenged Airstream camper, these metal rinds make up another experiment in dissection, this one executed on the manufactured object. In Bad Melon (Big Chunk) (all works 2020), the Airstream’s window and antennae protrude from what appears to be a huge, studded mound of rancid fruit pulp. The large flap of metal in Bad Melon (Wedge) resembles a Sputnik fragment with a teeming outgrowth of cell-like gems. Strewn about the space, these equally repulsive and attractive objects create a strange mortal-industrial wasteland tinged with the trappings of luxury.

Day 2 of 7, Spring 2005
As the sun cast its golden glow across the university quad, Cassandra confidently strolled toward her final exams armed with her trusty composition book and the lessons of her first semester etched within. In Beginning Brushwork, she wielded the paintbrush like a conductor's baton, orchestrating vibrant hues into a symphony of creativity. Go Figure (Drawing) saw her capturing life's nuances with finesse, each stroke telling a silent tale of the world she perceived.
The triumph was not without its challenges, though. A peculiarity, akin to an seductive dance with unseen forces, had woven its threads into Cassandra's university narrative. Often, her teachers remarked on the strange and otherworldly nature of her submitted artwork - figures dwarfed by looming tendrilled plants that harbored a vague menacing aura. For Cassandra, the university experience was a canvas waiting to be painted, and with each step, she embraced the allure of the unknown.

NME: How Alex Turner’s ‘Submarine’ EP paved the way for ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’
By Fred Garratt-Stanley, 14th March 2021
Tumblr media
A decade after its release, Alex Turner’s ‘Submarine’ EP has lost none of its otherworldly power. The Arctic Monkeys frontman’s short, mellow collection of acoustic tunes – released 10 years ago today – perfectly complemented director Richard Ayoade’s classic come-of-age movie Submarine, which follows British teenager Oliver Tate’s (Craig Roberts) embattled attempts to save his parents’ marriage and lose his virginity before his 16th birthday.
The Sheffield songwriter has assumed various guises during his illustrious career, and the six-track EP perhaps represents his most thoughtful of all. You know the story by now: the first two Monkeys albums saw Turner cast himself as the loveable Yorkshire oik, before he and the band decamped to the desert with Josh Homme for 2009’s psych-rock stomper ‘Humbug’. By summer 2011, he’d transformed himself into a New York-based, leather-jacketed singer-songwriter who breathed the same air as Lou Reed for fourth album ‘Suck It And See’. The record arrived just a few months after the Submarine soundtrack and even featured a souped-up, electronic version of one of its tracks, ‘Piledriver Waltz’.
With ‘Submarine’, Turner subtly bridged the gap between his newfound pining sentimentality and the no-nonsense everyman persona of those first two albums. His disdain for pretension is evident when, on the swooning ‘Stuck On A Puzzle’, he croons, “I’m not the kind of fool who’s gonna sit and sing to you / About stars, girl”. Yet with the following line, “But last night I looked up into the dark half of the blue / And they’d gone backwards”, he immediately blurs the lines. You can imagine that lyric appearing on 2018’s astral ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’, the album that reinvented the Monkeys as starry eyed art-rockers – and which outraged many fans of the more prosaic early work – can’t you?
Turner’s timeless soundtrack captures all the conflicted feelings of adolescent love and loss integral to Ayoade’s directorial debut. Dealing with heartbreak (the aching ‘Hiding Tonight’) and clumsy attempts at seduction (the aforementioned ‘Stuck On a Puzzle’), the songs evoke strange feelings of nostalgia for our own awkward teenage years – albeit reimagined through the aesthetically beautiful prism of Submarine. The Arctic Monkeys frontman is an adept craftsman of alternative worlds, and this EP proves no exception.
The record is immersive, dreamlike. On 54-second opener ‘Stuck On A Puzzle – intro’, he establishes the pensive tone with descending piano notes, the aural equivalent of pebbles splashing against the tide. Harnessing the spirit of Tate’s confused, anguished teenage state, ‘Hiding Tonight’ captures the introspective anxieties inherent to adolescent infatuation. Lines such as “Tomorrow I’ll be faster, I’ll catch what I’ve been chasing after and have time to play / But I’m quite alright hiding today”underline the tensions and apprehensions of youth. The track utilises the surrealist imagery of ‘Humbug’ songs ‘Crying Lightning’ and ‘Don’t Sit Down ‘Cause I’ve Moved Your Chair’, with Turner offering elaborate lyrical meanderings: “You can leave off my lid and I won’t even lose my fizz / I’ll be the polka dots-type / I’ll probably swim through a few lagoons”.
Alex Turner’s trademark ability to fuse existential and philosophical concepts with mundane urban realities arguably peaked on the ‘Submarine’ EP.  Take this perfect example from arpeggiated ditty ‘It’s Hard To Get Around The Wind’: “It’s like you’re tryna get to Heaven in a hurry / And the queue was shorter than you thought it would be / And the doorman says, ‘You need to get a wristband’”. In just four lines, Turner somehow encapsulated the universal obstacles presented by love, life and, erm, nightclubbing.
And it’s a sign of ‘Piledriver Waltz’’s brilliance that he couldn’t help adding a different version of it to ‘Suck it and See’. Crammed with elaborate lines such as, “You look like you’ve been for breakfast at the Heartbreak Hotel / And sat in the back booth by the pamphlets and the literature on how to lose”, the track is heartfelt and painful, yet savagely comic. Again, Turner’s marriage of the majestic and mundane is totally encapsulated by one couplet: “If you’re gonna try and walk on water / Make sure you wear your comfortable shoes”.
At the end of last year, Craig Roberts told NME that the success of Submarine the film “felt like a moment”, and one that meant that “all of a sudden I was able to go into rooms that I’d never been able to get into before”. Alex Turner had long since passed through that looking glass, of course, but the ‘Submarine’ EP helped him to do so artistically too. After the release of these beautiful songs, with which he married his burgeoning lyrical ambition to his early observational writing, he was able to travel to the moon and back.
What was to follow – Arctic Monkeys’ 2013 US-conquering rock opus ‘AM’ and the divisive ‘Tranquility Base…’ – would be even more sublime.

The dance floor in the large ballroom pulses with energy and vibrations from the DJ booth at the far end of it. It’s packed, so much so that all the people, all the shuffling pairs of shoes, threaten to overflow from the carefully manicured tiles on the ground and into the remainder of the space. This poses a problem considering there isn’t much, due to the dozens upon dozens of fancily decorated round tables scattered throughout the brightly lit chamber, some empty as their occupants sway to the beat of the music and others full with those still finishing their exquisitely prepared meals.
Dancing close to the edge of the massive crowd, you catch sight of the moon’s reflection on the polished floor, oddly clear. A strange feeling starts to overtake you as you continue to gaze at it, physically compelling you to raise your eyes. When you do, there’s a devilishly handsome stranger you’ve never seen before leaning against the wall, directly across from you. The moonlight spilling in through the glass casts a haunting shadow on his chiseled features, but your heart stops when the sliver of a fang peeks out from between his lips, gleaming a blinding white.
How no one else notices him, you’re not sure. What you do know, however, is that he’s definitely bad news.
...Right?
Your gut pinches at the thought, the silent signal begging you to correct your instant judgement based solely on his appearance. How could you possibly be wrong, though? He’s a vampire, for goodness’ sake! You’ve been lectured and warned enough times to remember that they’re always up to no good.
The inner dilemma going on in your mind causes you to stare blankly, zoned out and unaware that your focus is drilling into the boy. Amused, he waits for you to realize this.
Eyes blown wide with surprise, you whirl around to weave in and out of the throng of people, making your way to the center of the crowd in a pathetic attempt to undo what just happened. Attention trained on the ground, a pair of shiny black dress shoes come into your line of sight.
There’s that feeling again. You don’t want to, you fight the urge this time, but trying to resist the supernatural pull makes your head ache. Bracing yourself, you unwillingly lift your eyes again, tracing the length of his figure from the hem of his dress pants all the way up to the lapel of his suit. The wine-colored ensemble seems fitting, considering the craving vampires instinctively harbor for a similarly colored substance.
His looks are even more striking up close. The allure he possesses is something otherworldly, and he has to repeat himself for you to realize he’s speaking to you. “My name is Jaemin, and you are...?” He questions, the lilt of his voice silky and seductive. Stammering a somewhat coherent response, you freeze when his cold fingers grasp your wrist, lifting it to his lips and pressing a kiss to your trembling knuckles.
“Shall we dance?” It’s a statement, not a request, and not wanting to cause a scene, you make no attempts to protest. You get lost in the way his arms feel wrapped around you, every so often being twirled by the graceful movements of his hand.
Your eyes lock with his and they put you in an inescapable trance, casting a spell on your mind until the moment that he breaks the contact, glancing almost worriedly at something over your shoulder. He returns his gaze to yours as quickly as he removed it, and the enrapturing haze settles in around you once more.
For the final minute of your dance, he brings you closer than you’ve ever been to him before, head resting firmly against his chest. A triumphant feeling of rebellion bubbles up inside of you knowing that you’d be in big trouble if your parents could see you right now, in the arms of an enchanting vampire. The mere act of associating with one would be enough for them to explode with fury, so going even further than that would surely elicit a wrath of pure, unadulterated rage.
The song ends, its slow tempo coming to a stop before being replaced by a much peppier tune.
Most of your fright forgotten for the time being, you’re more curious than anything else when he begins to drag you away from the center of the ballroom, pulling you with urgency and a force that completely contrasts with the gentleness of his touches as you danced together. Stepping out from the crowd, he leads you around to the other side of the wide marble staircase, ducking to stand behind a pristine white column that extends all the way up to the heightened ceiling. It dawns on you now that he could actually be dangerous, and all the fear comes flooding back to you.
Jaemin sees it too, the way your pupils dilate to indicate your terror of the situation you’ve gotten yourself into, your terror of him. You’re about to cry out when he stops you by covering your mouth with his hand, the low temperature of his skin startling you even more, and you wince.
“Sorry, sorry!” He whispers hastily, panicked. You take notice of the instant change in his demeanor but it does nothing to calm you down. “It’s alright, don’t freak out, okay?”
“I’m not gonna hurt you,” he breathes, finally providing you with some sort of relief. You relax a little under his hold, still cautious but deciding to give him a chance. Slowly, he removes his palm from your lips, allowing you to speak.
“What do you want with me, then?”
Glancing around with that same look of anxiousness on his face, he leans in, murmuring into your ear with every word.
“Well, I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, but I’m a vampire. I come from a whole family of them. My parents brought me here tonight to... uh, well, you’ve heard the stories. They want me to find someone with the best blood to drink.”
Come to think of it, you do recall seeing a carriage parked outside, black as night and delicately carved like it came from the darkest depths of the underworld. Must’ve been his, you realize.
“And that’s me because...?” You interrupt his explanation, causing him to wave a hand in the air, exasperated.
“Let me finish, okay? The thing is, vampires drink blood but it’s not the only thing we need to survive. In fact, we don’t even need it. Over time we’ve found ways to get the same nutrients in other ways and from other things. Some of us still do it for tradition’s sake. And my family is all about preserving history.”
Inhaling sharply, he continues. “But I... I can’t do it. Not only does it feel morally wrong, but I get sick just thinking about it. On nights like this, I just have to find a way to lie about finding some.”
“That’s,” he leans back to point a finger at you, “where you come in, angel. We just have to make it look like I took some of your blood, and that will be enough to satisfy my parents for a while.”
Too stunned to speak, you gape at Jaemin, leaving him waiting for your answer, wondering whether you’ll commit or not.
“Wow.”
“I understand if you don’t want to help, I can always find someone—”
“You are nothing like who I thought you were.”
Jaemin’s pale skin flushes with a color you’re not sure even exists before he beams at you. A few minutes ago, you would never have guessed the mysterious man leaning against the wall could smile this brightly. “Not all of us are bloodthirsty monsters.”
“I’m sorry I was afraid of you,” you tell him, looking down at the floor with a guilty expression.
“It’s not your fault, you had every right to be.”
“...Hold on, what was all that out there?” You accuse, brows raised in slight suspicion and a hip tilted to the side as you await an explanation.
“What do you mean, ‘all that?’”
“I mean the dance! I mean the way you introduced yourself, the way you spoke, everything... You were so cold, so intimidating. But you’re acting so different now.”
“All to put on a show for my parents, sweetheart.”
Blushing like mad, you shake your head as you remember the reason why you’re back here with him in the first place. “I’ll do it,” you say, heart fluttering at the way his eyes light up with gratitude.
“Really? You will? Thank you! Thank you so much...” he trails off, and you find the excitement in his voice adorable.
“So, how do we do this?” You ponder for a moment, tapping your shoe against the floor before an idea comes to you. “You don’t mind ketchup, do you?”
Jaemin knows what you’re getting at, nodding. “I don’t have a problem with it, so that should work fine.”
“But... how close are they going to look? Would a bite mark make it more realistic?”
Considering your words, Jaemin’s tongue darts out to lick at one of his sharp fangs, the action drawing your gaze down to them.
“You’re probably right...”
Closing your eyes and straightening your posture, you tilt your head to one side, exposing your neck. “Go ahead, I don’t mind.”
Here goes nothing, Jaemin thinks to himself. Only he doesn’t aim for your neck.
When you feel his lips on yours you’re startled to say the least, but just like when he danced with you, you don’t pull away. The kiss is a delicious secret, only for the two of you to know about and no one else. Instead of ice his hands are like fire on your skin, and the sleeves of his satin suit jacket feel heavenly against your arms as they cling to his shoulders for dear life. It’s so intense, so heated and passionate a kiss that you feel yourself back up against the pillar you’ve been hiding behind all this time.
Not wanting anyone to get suspicious about what’s taking so long, Jaemin reluctantly separates his lips from yours and drags them across your skin, down past your jaw to halt at your neck. The magic bestowed upon all vampires gives him the power to temporarily restrict the ability of his fangs to take blood, rendering them harmless. Once he’s done this, he sinks them into the spot above your collarbone just far enough to leave an impression, eliciting a small whine from your lips but nothing more.
“That wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be,” you pant, taking heavy breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth while you wait to regain the strength you lost in the moment. It’s funny, you think. He didn’t take any of your blood, so why do you feel so dizzy?
Jaemin chuckles, brushing your hair out of your face since it had become slightly tousled during the kiss. His eyes widen in sudden realization and he snaps his fingers, “The ketchup!”
“Right!” You exclaim, hurriedly running over to the nearest deserted table and grabbing a single packet.
Tearing the corner, you squeeze a small dot of the condiment onto your finger before smearing it onto the skin below his lips, making it look as if it’s dripping from the edge of his mouth. Jaemin takes it from you and does the same, the red smudge complimenting the bite mark he left on your neck quite nicely, if he says so himself.
Leading you back around the staircase, Jaemin shares a second dance with you in the middle of the ballroom, and this time you’re both more comfortable with each other. From across the room, his parents’ enhanced senses of sight allow them to see your stained skin, humming in approval at their son’s apparent obedience.
“Will I see you again?” You ask in a soft voice, wavering at the possibility of losing the new friend, and maybe something more, you’ve made tonight.
“I don’t know, my dear,” Jaemin admits. “But I’ll try.”
Smiling lovingly up at him, you sigh, the three words you so desperately want to utter on the very tip of your tongue, but you feel it’s a little too soon. One day, you tell yourself.
Hidden amongst the crowd, he ducks down a little to steal a final kiss before a tall figure that’s probably his mother whisks him away and into the distance. You exchange longing glances before he’s forced to turn around, walking completely out of sight.
Taking long strides at an inhuman pace between both of his parents, Jaemin grins to himself, thinking of you and how amazing you looked tonight in that elegant outfit of yours.
From beside him, his father sniffs the air, pale nose wrinkling in distaste.
“Is that ketchup?!”

Heart of Stone by Johannes T. Evans
The year is 1764, and following a glowing recommendation from his last employer, Henry Coffey, vampire, takes on a new personal secretary: young Theophilus Essex. The man is quite unlike any secretary - or any man, for that matter - that Henry has ever met. — ‘Heart of Stone’ is a slowly unfolding period romance between a vampire and his inimitably devoted clerk: lushly depicted in flowing, lovingly appended prose, we follow the slow understanding these two men grasp of one another, and the cross of their two worlds into each other’s.
Henry Coffey, immortal and ever-oscillating between periods of delighted focus upon his current passion project, is charming, witty, and seems utterly incapable of closing his mouth for more than a few moments; in contrast, Theophilus Essex is quiet and keenly focused, adopting an ever-flat affect, but as time goes on, he relaxes in his employer’s presence.
Craving resounding intimacy but with an ever aware of the polite boundaries for their situation, Coffey and Essex perform a slow dance as they grow closer to one another, and find themselves entangled.

Best Laid Plaids by Ella Stainton (Kilty Pleasures #1)
Scotland, 1928 Dr. Ainsley Graham is cultivating a reputation as an eccentric. Two years ago, he catastrophically ended his academic career by publicly claiming to talk to ghosts. When Joachim Cockburn, a WWI veteran studying the power of delusional thinking, arrives at his door, Ainsley quickly catalogues him as yet another tiresome Englishman determined to mock his life’s work. But Joachim is tenacious and openhearted, and Ainsley’s intrigued despite himself. He agrees to motor his handsome new friend around to Scotland’s most unmistakable hauntings. If he can convince Joachim, Ainsley might be able to win back his good name and then some. He knows he’s not crazy—he just needs someone else to know it, too.
Joachim is one thesis away from realizing his dream of becoming a psychology professor, and he’s not going to let anyone stop him, not even an enchanting ginger with a penchant for tartan and lewd jokes. But as the two travel across Scotland’s lovely—and definitely, definitely haunted—landscape, Joachim’s resolve starts to melt. And he’s beginning to think that an empty teaching post without the charming Dr. Graham would make a very poor consolation prize indeed…
Where There’s a Kilt, There’s a Way by Ella Stainton (Kilty Pleasures #2)
Sweden, 1930 Two years ago, Dr. Ainsley Graham proved the existence of ghosts, and fell in love–hard to top that. But a trip to Sweden to research at a prestigious University for the summer is nothing to sneeze at, especially since his partner, psychologist Joachim Cockburn, will be teaching alongside him. A change of scenery might be just the thing.
Their idyllic trip to Sweden is interrupted by a ghost with a proclivity for rude hand gestures and graphic curse words–and a ghastly history begging to be investigated. Life among the living is complicated, too, by a gruff professor who can’t take his eyes off Ainsley, and an enticing new job offer for Joachim. What starts as an adventurous trip abroad turns into mayhem, murder, and…a magical moose? And everyone–well, perhaps not the moose–is a suspect in the death of the ghostly young man who brings them
together to expose secrets, loves lost, and a crime that will shock them all. The Harp and the Sea by Lou Sylvre and Anne Barwell (Magic in the Isles #1) In 1605, Robbie Elliot—a Reiver and musician from the Scottish borders—nearly went to the gallows. The Witch of the Hermitage saved him with a ruse, but weeks later, she cursed him to an ethereal existence in the sea. He has seven chances to come alive, come ashore, and find true love. For over a century, Robbie’s been lost to that magic; six times love has failed. When he washes ashore on the Isle of Skye in 1745, he’s arrived at his last chance at love, his last chance at life.
Highland warrior Ian MacDonald came to Skye for loyalty and rebellion. He’s lost once at love, and stands as an outsider in his own clan. When Ian’s uncle and laird sends him to lonely Skye to hide and protect treasure meant for Bonnie Prince Charlie’s coffers, he resigns himself to a solitary life—his only companion the eternal sea. Lonely doldrums transform into romance and mystery when the tide brings beautiful Robbie Elliot and his broken harp ashore.
A curse dogs them, enemies hunt them, and war looms over their lives. Robbie and Ian will fight with love, will, and the sword. But without the help of magic and ancient gods, will it be enough to win them a future together?
Starcrossed by Allie Therin (Magic in Manhattan #2)
When everything they’ve built is threatened, only their bond remains… 1925 New York

Arthur’s continued quest to contain supernatural relics that pose a threat to the world has captured Rory’s imagination—and his heart. But Arthur’s upper-class upbringing still leaves Rory worried that he’ll never measure up, especially when Arthur’s aristocratic ex arrives in New York. For Arthur, there’s only Rory. But keeping the man he’s fallen for safe is another matter altogether. When a group of ruthless paranormals throw the city into chaos, the two men’s strained relationship leaves Rory vulnerable to a monster from Arthur’s past.
With dark forces determined to tear them apart, Rory and Arthur will have to draw on every last bit of magic up their sleeves. And in the end, it’s the connection they’ve formed without magic that will be tested like never before.
Automata by Hayden Thorne (Curiosities #2)
A disastrous incident at a ball in St. Jude threatens to undo Alexej Sauveterre, and his protective adoptive family whisk him off to San Marco, a mythical and romantic city in the water. Born sickly, young Alexej has grown up resigned to the fact that only his family’s immense wealth makes him barely palatable to other gentlemen seeking partners.
The family’s sojourn in San Marco at first promises a much-needed distraction to Alexej when his older brother introduces him to an aristocratic inventor of automata as well as an old school friend who now tours the European continent as a classical pianist. Baseless hope and heartbreak, however, seem to follow Alexej everywhere.
Alexej’s fascination for automata and his hopeless infatuation with Briant Cousineau draw the attention of an entity from the otherworld, one that’s been wandering the globe for unwary souls to claim through cursed wishes. San Marco’s winged lion summons the city’s supernatural guardians in answer, and in the midst of glittering balls, magical clockwork puppets, and lonely dreams, a terrifying fight for Alexej’s soul darkens the streets of a fading city.

Base Class Review: Witch part 3
Tumblr media
 Archetypes
The witch has a fun variety of archetypes out there tapping into various aspects of mysticism, folklore, and just plain weird fun, as we shall soon see.
Witches tend to be very local sorts of magic users, those that live alongside the land, almost like an arcane version of a druid in some ways. As you might imagine, there are several witch archetypes that revolve around how their magic interacts with the region that they live in. Figures like the urban-dwelling alley witch, coral witches and sea witches from the ocean, flood walkers from floodplains, altitude-savvy mountain witches, and the like.
Perhaps the most iconic witch archetypes are those that do what many of their hexes do: emulate and reference many folklore stories of witches across cultures. A bouda is ripped right out of African folklore (of admittedly dubious quality), the gingerbread witch is ripped right from Hansel and Gretel, the mirror witch is the evil queen from Snow White, the white-haired witch is every long-haired witch whose locks have a life of their own, and the winter witch is a wink and a nod to the Snow Witch from her titular fairy tale (which she is barely in, strangely enough).
Of course, while not every witch archetype is a specific reference to a folklore figure, there are plenty that still do traditional witch-like things, such as the bonded witch having a particularly strong bond with their familiar, while the bonded witch works with a magical item that is their link to their patron. Cartomancers work with divination cards, while demon-sworn, hags of Gryonna, and the hagbound embrace the evil end of pact-binding in witches. Dimensional occultists and pact witches summon otherworldly allies, while dreamweavers touch on sleeping minds. Gravewalkers focus on necromancy, while hedge witches, herb witches, and vellemancers focus on healing. Invokers invite their patron into their body in esoteric forms, while jinx witches call down misfortune on others. Scarred witch doctors invoke their patron with self-mortification, meanwhile season witches invoke specific seasons. Seducers do the whole seductive manipulator thing, while tatterdemalions turn clothing into a weapon.
Other witches combine their arts with other magical traditions or other secrets in order to fulfill roles not associated with witches, such as the battlefield terrors known as ashiftas, or the elemental-channeling havocker. Hex channelers use their magic to channel energy in a very cleric-like way, while ley line guardians channel arcane networks to connect with their patrons and supercharge their spells. Mediums speak with the dead, while Nexian spellspies use their magic for infiltration and observation. Putrefactors call upon vermin in a fit of misanthropy, while rhetoricians use magic to bolster their considerable social talents. In an uncanny blurring, synergists can merge with their familiars to imbue themselves with the powers of that animal, while veneficus witches and venom siphoners focus on the refining and implementing of poison into their magic. Some witches, called witch-watchers, focus on safeguarding the land through their arts, while wyrm witches devote themselves to draconic power through direct emulation.
As you can see, witch archetypes can add a lot to the class in their own way, and while I may not have covered them all, I hope this has given you a juicy slice of what the options are like.
That does it for today, but next time, we’ll talk about a little late-system add-on to the witch class!
