A traditional "knight saves the princess" story except at the end, the princess sighs and goes, "I suppose you want my hand in marriage as a reward" and the knight goes, "Oh, no, I'm just new in town and wanted to make friends but I've got really bad social anxiety" and the princess is like, "Rad, because I was never gonna fall in love with you" and they live happily ever after as besties (they're both aroace).

This is kinda revolutionary? Just a few years ago destiel was queerbaiting fans to superhell but now? NOW? A show saw the fans HC a character as queer with valid evidence and instead went "you know what? You're right. We didn't originally plan this for them but we see you". Then four episodes into the season, canonized his queerness. Not the last second, Not the last Episode. the BEGINNING of the season, with time to expand AND we know we're getting another season after this. Just look how far we've come.

I'm late to the aro positivity party but thought I could shout out a manga I read this year, I Want to be a Wall!
Tumblr media
It's about an aroace woman (who is really into BL) and a gay man being arranged into a marriage and how they navigate that, growing closer and kind of becoming a QPR.
Tumblr media
The stuff that really got to me was the discussion of the woman's experience with her asexuality (and aromanticism though that isn't explicitly labeled), how it connects to her media tastes and the way people have hurt her in the past. It was all absolutely heartbreaking.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A fun detail I also like is how the pair act out romantic tropes (Gift of Magi style misunderstanding, paranoia about "cheating,"), but they are all done through a platonic context.
Tumblr media
(Ex. Even though they're not in romantic love, he still feels upset at the idea of losing their bond, or her getting hurt by someone he doesn't know.)
There's not too many chapters of it out, unfortunately (only like two volumes), but the ones I read are very enjoyable and I'd love to put this on other people's radar!
(btw, I got this manga rec from this video, and there's more in it!)

Saw a post about working class butches in physical labour jobs and wanted to make my own, so: I love you butches who do childcare or early education. I love you butch nurses. I love you butch house cleaners and janitorial staff. I love you service industry butches. I love you butches who do sex work. I love you working class butches who do “feminine” jobs you are cool as hell

i hate talking about dysphoria with cis ppl because they immediately clock it as body dysmorphia, and only as body dysmorphia. (i say only bc some trans ppl can and do experience both)
i can't talk about how i hate how my thighs make me feel/look feminine because they always say "but you look fine!" or "i think you look amazing!" or "but you should love them!"
and it's so hard to describe dysphoria, especially to ppl who don't experience it, or who don't want to understand it isn't dysmorphia
and no matter how hard you try to explain they always try to make you love this body you have because "you should love yourself as you are!"
but i do love myself. but not quite exactly how i am. i love what i know I can be. i love knowing that one day i'll have top surgery scars i can trace with my fingers and a scratchy beard from T. i love knowing that I can eventually do my silly little effeminate gestures without hating how it makes me look. i love knowing that eventually i can look in a mirror and grin at the man i've become.
but that's not right now. i may cry a little when a shirt doesn't fit the way it should, but i don't hate the body that makes it that way. I may feel a pit in my stomach when I realize the way that i'm standing makes me look girly, but i don't hate that i'm standing that way.
i don't hate that i used to be a girl but i hate when people still think i am.
i don't hate my body, i just hate how it isn't what it's supposed to be quite yet. could that make any sense to the cis folks reading this?
I am trans and I love my body, just sometimes it doesn't love me back. and one day it will.

why would you be unsafe at pride
I'm going to assume this question is asked in good faith and with a genuine interest in my safety. I'm also going to be very direct and blunt.
Jewish people are being targeted and attacked worldwide. Not just in right-wing spaces, but also leftist spaces. And yes that includes Pride and queer related events. If I want to attend pride wearing my kippah and my magen david, there is a good chance I will have some unpleasant words thrown at me, at the very least. There is a chance I will be physically attacked and/or kicked out of the march.
I would recommend spending more time listening to Jewish people on their struggle with antisemitism in the present. I don't mean that as a snarky comment, I just think listening to minorities about their struggles is a crucial part of activism. Hope this answered your question! If you'd like to ask more questions, feel free to reach out again, either in my ask box or my DMs

the most powerful thing about aziraphale and crowley — once they go official, they'll only have to come out once.
and by that i mean, other queer couples can only dream of admitting "yeah, we're together" before another week hits and someone mistakes them for roommates/besties/good pals/buddies. and honestly? rip to them but they're different. as for S2, i have yet to see a pair who'd give off greater queer energy, and they're not even together together.
aziraphale's expression is gayer than a tree full of monkeys, people "mistook" them for a couple at least twice. it's book canon. but the show gave us crowley playing the wheel of gender and picking whatever the funniest bit it landed on, circling 'round the angel like she's on a merry-go-round mission. occultish being who wears skintight women's trousers and a snake belt to aziraphale's vintage pocket watch and 150+ years old waistcoat. standing side by side they're practically a fuckin prism together, like an actual rainbow is shooting out from their heads. you see aziraphale on the street looking all the bit like the polite yet utterly lost uncle, and then you notice his bodyguard with the leather, wait, shit, that's not a bodyguard, that's his uh. his. you know. what's more, you overhear the "dearest, could you hold this for me?" and now the goth rockstar is holding a grocery bag or some shit. you think they could be at the first Pride. if asked, they'd probably nod.
we, mere mortal gays can only mimic a fraction of their power.

You only think lesbianism is restrictive because you’re not a lesbian.
Actual lesbians usually think being a lesbian is pretty freeing and liberating.
You should respect that. Our entire lives people try to influence and force us into being attracted to men and realizing you’re not attracted to men in a society that centers them in everything and treats women and other fem-aligned people as less and as failures for not being with them certainly can be freeing.
