#Man! Avatar sure has many deep stories
Princess Zeisan
"Zeisan was a princess of the Fire Nation and the sister of Fire Lord Sozin. She embraced Air Nomad philosophy and intended to swear off her earthly possessions in exchange for a life of austerity."
Tumblr media
All interesting subjects about Fire Nation aside, I haven't seen anyone talking about Princess Zeisan. Though it's probably because only a small percent of fandom knows about her existence.
But I think we should talk about her!
1-) Her sexuality:
Zeisan was mostly likely bisexual or pansexual or perhaps polysexual considering the fact that she once had a relationship with an air nomad woman called Rioshon, as well as a man called Khandro.
And as it's revealed in the Legend of Korra comics, Fire Nation wasn't actually a homophobic society at first. Until Sozin forbade same sex relationships and considered it criminal.
And I always found it weird why would a great Fire Lord care about two girls kissing or two guys hugging... Until I found out about Zeisan.
It's revealed that the siblings never shared a strong bond, and it's easy to assume Sozin was never fond of his sister. So he probably hated every little thing about her. Must be why Zeisan's romantic interests led Sozin to forbade LGBTQ relationships.
2-) Her looks:
When I looked at her official art, I thought Zeisan lowkey looked like a combination of Azula and Sozin.
But apparently, her looks did not help her to gain her brother's love.
Though it would be interesting to see Sozin and Zeisan side by side, looking like a genderbent version of each other, but still are distant...
3-) She was probably the invisible child:
Being born a non-bender, Zeisan couldn't find her place in the Fire Nation. Because as we learned in The Search comics, having a non-bender child is considered shameful in the royal family. That was the main reason why Ozai disliked and rejected Zuko from the moment he was born. It was doubtful if Zuko was a firebender at all, and his firstborn son being a non-bender would be a great shame for a Fire Nation prince.
So we can assume this was the same case for Zeisan. Since she wasn't a great firebender like her brother, she was probably ghosted by her family. And that explains the cold relationship of her and Sozin. It makes sense that Sozin copied his father and ignored his sister. He probably looked down upon her since he was a strong firebender and most likely favored by his father. And this also explains the late blooming megalomania of Sozin since he came up with the idea of conquering the world (Eh, talk about villain cliches...)
Kinda like the relationship of Zuko and Azula. Azula was a firebending prodigy and was favored by her father, but Zuko was first mistaken as a non-bender for not having a spark in his eyes. And we know for a fact that despite being the scapegoat of his family, Zuko was also an invisible child since he was often ignored by his father.
4-) She was a pacifist:
Since she couldn't find her place in the Fire Nation, Zeisan found comfort in embracing air nomad culture. Unlike her ambitious and destructive brother, she wanted peace and life.
And this, once again, showing the contrast between the siblings.
Zeisan embraced their culture, wanted peace and life, became a pacifist; as a contrast, Sozin nearly ended their culture, wanted war and destruction, became a tyrant.
So far, these are the only things I could think about Zeisan since we have very limited information about her. And fans barely know about her existence. But I sure hope to learn more about her in the upcoming comics and series!
Also, it would be cool to see a Fire Nation spin-off. Kinda like Game of Thrones and House of The Dragon. HoTD did/doing an awesome job with portraying the Targaryen dynasty. I could totally see a similar series about Fire Nation!

A:TLA; how it should have ended.
Recently, I've been on a deep dive into the A:tLA fandom, specifically the Zutara sphere. And that means I've found a lot of long-form meta on the show, it's ending, LoK, script final drafts, you name it. That's all gone in the brain blender, and here's what came out the other side.
Sozin's Comet honestly doesn't change that much; only two real differences.
The magic rock is gone. Instead, we get a flashback to Guru Pathik, and Aang realizes that he has to let go of his attachment to Katara.
The Maiko/Kataang victory laps in the last 5 minutes are gone. Mai and Zuko get a scene where they wish each other well, but acknowledge that they're over. Katara and Aang have a nice moment where they choose friendship. There's love there, but it's Philia, not Eros.
@burst-of-iridescent has a delightful essay series on Zutara, and the part that sticks in my head is that in the run-up to the finale, Aang and Katara are at their least unified. To wit:
In "The Southern Raiders" Aang is preachy, condescending, and more than a little hypocritical about Katara's plan to take vengeance for her mother. The episode ends with Katara explicitly rejecting Aang's belief that Yon Rha was forgiven.
In "The Ember Island Players" Aang is distraught at the idea that EIP!Katara's statements, namely that Aang is like her brother and she's attracted to Zuko, are true. When he questions Real!Katara about this, he responds to her statement that she's confused about her feelings by kissing her. The kiss is not returned. Again, no resolution is had.
Finally, in "Sozin's Comet Part 1" Katara is part of the chorus condemning Aang for refusing to even consider killing Ozai, no matter how many people are at stake. He runs off from the group, and from there disappears into the Spirit World to get Lion-Turtled. Yet again, no resolution, and the two don't reunite until the tea shop.
Now speaking of the Lion Turtles, I'm actually not opposed to them. Yes, they come out of nowhere to deliver an 11th Hour Superpower that handily spares Aang from having to actually make a choice he disagrees with, but at the end of the day it is a kid's show. Nickelodeon was never going to approve a script where Aang killed Ozai. Throw in a little bit of foreshadowing, and I'm good. It's worth noting here that the story of Avatar Wan was supposed to be covered in A:tLA, which would handily cover that requirement.
Now, for the post-canon. We'll start with Fire.
Zuko is NOT left alone in the Fire Nation. Similarly, Iroh does NOT fuck off back to Ba Sing Se.
Toph and Suki stick around. Suki in her canon role as commander of Zuko's Kyoshi Warrior bodyguard, while Toph and Mai use Toph's lie-detection and Mai's insider knowledge to purge threats to the new peace.
Toph eventually goes back to the Earth Kingdom to start a metalbending academy, but first she needs to make sure that her Sparky lives to be the grumpy old man he was born to be.
While Iroh is correct that for political and diplomatic reasons Zuko needs to be Fire Lord, he also bows to the reality that Zuko is plain and simply not ready to be the Fire Lord.
Zuko went from 4th in line to 1st in line basically overnight, and the 5-ish years he spent as Crown Prince were clearly not spent preparing him to succeed Ozai.
So a teenager with a fairly surface-level understanding of "how to monarch" has to self-Reconstruction the Fire Nation, while paying reparations, without having been militarily conquered.
This is how idealists get assassinated. New Plan!
Zuko is crowned Fire Lord. Iroh is his Prince Regent. It's very clear to all involved that Zuko is the one charting the course forward for the Fire Nation, while Iroh is there to convert intent to action, while teaching Zuko how it's done.
It doesn't hurt that Iroh is one of the Fire Nation's most successful military commanders, so the civil war route is a lot riskier for anyone to attempt.
Next, Sokka
Sokka honestly has a pretty good arc in the post-canon. Nothing I really feel the need to correct.
Eventually, Suki is able to hand off her duties in the Fire Nation to someone else and goes home to Kyoshi Island
It’s still home, but it isn’t the same. Or rather, she isn’t the same.
She never leaves the island behind, but it’s usually a stop on the journey from Wolf Cove to Republic City.
Then, Aang
Aang divides his time between Avatar duties and Last Airbender duties.
Avatar duties involve a lot of sitting in on meetings and reminding people that the ultimate goal is peace.
Last Airbender duties involve a lot of teaching Air Acolytes everything he remembers from his childhood. He gets lucky here, though.
The Airbender Genocide wasn't complete. More than a few Air Nomads escaped the Genocide, and hid themselves away. Some in small villages built in remote mountain valleys, others blended into Earth Kingdom settlements.
Plenty of quarter- or eighth-Air Nomad kids running around with airbending potential they never had the knowledge to develop. Think very early Book 1 Katara here.
The result is that a resurgent Air Nation is being formed, with a culture woven from the threads that survived through relics, the refugees, and Aang himself.
Airbenders are still rare, and it's over a decade before another airbender earns their mastery, but it's not his son and his grandkids when Korra comes around.
Finally, Katara
Katara spends a lot of time traveling. She spends time in the South Pole, helping to rebuild and learning Southern Style Waterbending from the released waterbenders. She also travels the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom, doing what she can to solve problems.
There are a lot of problems to solve.
Her travels in the Fire Nation are particularly fruitful; word of the Last Agni Kai has spread, so she is known to be the one that the Fire Lord sacrificed himself for, and who healed his wound.
She and Zuko stay in contact, allowing themselves to have a slow-burn courtship.
After a couple of years she moves to Caldera City and starts getting down to seriously courting Zuko, preparing herself for Fire Ladydom.
The year before Iroh is set to retire as Regent, she and Zuko start thinking about the wedding.
There are a lot of potential traditions to uphold, even just between the Southern Water Tribe and the Fire Nation
This goes double for the daughter of the head chieftain of the Southern Water Tribe, and the Fire Lord himself.
They decide to have fun with it and do everything.
Aang presides over a private ceremony, family/close friends only, that is really just a mutual declaration of love and friendship.
Then come the Southern Water traditions. It's the full gamut, with ice-dodging, sacred hunts and more. In the end, Zuko is an honorary member of the Southern Water Tribe, and he and Katara are wed (again).
There's a diplomatic tour through the Earth Kingdom, stopping at Kyoshi, Gaoling, Omashu, Ba Sing Se, the Foggy Swamp the former Fire Colonies, and ending at the Northern Water Tribe. The language used artfully slides over whether the couple is newly married or about to be married, but overall it works well for the Fire Nation's reputation abroad.
The final act is in the Fire Nation. A full Royal Wedding, a grand affair of state, held at high noon on the day of the summer solstice. When all is said and done, Zuko and Katara now rule alone as Fire Lord and Fire Lady.
Alright, I have more, but I'm tired. Tune in next time for the Fire Nation (extended) Royal Family! featuring Steambabies (Found here)

I'll check again, but I think most members of the Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn Duology, disbanded after poor sales from Radiant Dawn and a new Fire Emblem team took over.
You can definitely tell some gameplay and writing ideas just stopped appearing after Radiant Dawn.
Yeah, it’s such a shame. Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn were the first FE games I ever played, and I was immediately hooked by them. It isn’t often I come across a fictional world and story that just enthralls me like those two games did. I don’t even know how to explain it. Maybe I just played them at the right time or something, but ever since I have held a deep love for them, even 16 years later.
I know they’re not perfect. They have flaws, and I can acknowledge them, but man. There’s just something about those two games that I find so endearing, so endlessly charming.
I also heard that it was originally intended as a trilogy, and man, I wish we had gotten that.
Sometimes I hope it will get a remake, but I’m not sure if I trust the current FE writers to do it justice. There’s something about the way modern FE games are so focused on marketability, on what sells, and I get why things are that way, but… a lot of what sells is just not appealing to me. I don’t care for customizable avatars or dating sim elements. I want something that makes me feel like I’m stepping into a new world, a world that is deeply treasured by the writers who wrote it. I hope to one day write a book that makes people feel the same way I did when I watched Radiant Dawn’s opening cinematic for the first time.
Anyway, that’s a long rant that has little to do with this ask. I just wanted to get all of this off my chest. Thanks for sending in so many asks! I appreciate any opportunity to gush over these games.

Inspired by our convo but are there any Crazy EXGF songs that remind you of Avatar: Last Airbender characters? Or if its tough cuz those songs are so hilariously inappropriate and atla is more serious, how do you think the Avatar characters would interact with Eoa characters and maybe your ocs?
Yayyy, thank you for the ask! I’ll try to answer both of these questions.
CEG Songs and ATLA Characters:
I’m The Villain In My Own Story - Katara, because it’s me with blood bending again, yeah
After Everything I’ve Done For You (That You Didn’t Ask For) - Azula, I don’t know it just reminds me of that last scene between her and Ozai XD
You Go First - Katara and Toph in the Runaway XD
Get Your Ass Out Of My House - Ozai to Zuko
I Hate Everything But You - Zuko to Mai
Man Nap - Aang sort of? When the guys tried to put him to sleep before the battle with the Fire Nation
Face Your Fears - Iroh to Zuko
What’ll It Be - Zuko
You Stupid Bitch - also Zuko, I think?
Dream Ghost - the previous avatars to Aang XD
Friendtopia - the Gaang? (oh, or Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee)
Remember That We Suffered - Hama to Katara
This Session Is Gonna Be Different - Iroh to Zuko, specifically in season 2 when Iroh opened the tea shop (not “session” obviously but I think it fits them in the sense that Iroh hopes Zuko will finally find the right way)
And I’m A Good Person, of course, for redeemed Azula as you said XD
Those are the only ones I can think about now, but I’d love to hear your ideas if you have any 👀
The ATLA & EoA Characters:
Alright, this question is harder actually XD
The first thing I’ll say is that Gabe and Sokka are 100% besties, I want my boys to be friends. To be more serious, though, they do have some things in common, so I think they’d actually get along, not because I’m biased :’) They’re both warriors who want to protect their loved ones and prove their worth, so they’ll find the common ground for sure.
I think Mateo and Aang would have an interesting dynamic, too, given the fact all wizards have been banished from Avalor during Shuriki’s reign and Mateo was basically the only wizard in his kingdom, plus he’s self-taught, whereas Aang is the last airbender (just imagine Mateo going to the astral to communicate with the Maruvian wizards like Aang can communicate with the avatars (well, Mateo can summon spirit guides from the spirit world, but okay, this is not really the same thing))
Zuko and Esteban are quite similar, but I don’t think they’d get along very well, rather be annoyed with each other, because they’ve both got a temper XD But Francisco and Iroh would definitely become friends, I tell you.
I still haven’t said anything about Elena, but I think she’d have a nice relationship with Katara, given how caring and people-oriented they both are. Plus, Katara is a self-taught waterbender, whereas Elena gets a hang of using her scepter (mostly in season 1, but yeah) and they both have forgiveness issues akjsndkfk
The ATLA Characters & My OCs :3 (thank you for putting them in your ask <3)
I can write the whole novel about Valerio now XD At first, Valerio would get along with Iroh. Both are wise, understanding, supportive and Valerio loves tea. But once he meets his nephew, he realizes that he sees himself in Zuko in many ways and wants to guide him in the right direction, which also helps him to look at his own path from a different perspective.
Valerio is interesting (pfffffft) because on the surface he does seem like a grounded person (in the sense he seems to have everything under control and not really have any personal life problems), but he’s damaged deep inside and has many unresolved issues that gnaw at him and don’t let him live the life the way he’d like to, so I think he would make a good company for Iroh and Zuko.
As for my other characters, Frida would get along with Katara for sure and Ángel with Sokka and surprisingly Ty Lee (after “redemption”) because they’re actually quite similar.
Matías also needs a friend but I can’t think of anyone aljsndkfk
I’ll stop here, but if I get more ideas, I’ll share them with you! And again, I’m really excited to know whether you got anything 👀
Thank you again!

Obey Me - The Lost Lamb and the Seven Avatar of Sin
Hi everyone!!!
Before we start, this story is self-indulge because I love Obey Me so much I just had to make my own OC stories and how she survive a year as an exchange student.
My OC named is Kristin, and she is a religious christian. I will not be discussing anything that is related to the bible. My OC is a self-indulgent of myself. In how I picture myself, as a christian, going through the program.
Warning! This is story has not been Beta Read. I’m only posting it for fun.
Now, the story will follow the game scenario but I also add a mix of storyline according to the Obey Me Manga in Manga Plaza.
As Kristin going through the program, she made a promise to herself she has to keep until the end of the year. Never, ever, ever, making pacts with demons.
Tumblr media
This was all started by Kristin sister's kindness and stupidity.
Her big sister, Mary, sent Kristin many college applications to take. It was an excellent college with a cheap program they could afford, at least outside Singapore. Mary wanted Kristin to experience a life she never had time for.
A part of her effort was run by guilt for leaving their mom and her little sister with a jerk who called himself a father.
That day, Kristin’s received four rejected letters and one acceptance. The letter  acceptance said:
"Congratulations!
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at the Royal Academy of Diavolo.
Please return this letter with your sign to confirm your participation.
We are looking forward to welcoming you as part of our new exchange program.
Yours sincerely,
Diavolo."
Kristin have no idea what goes into her head that day when she receive the letter. Without thinking further, Kristin signed her name and birthday on it.
"Welcome to the Devildom, Kristin!"
Eh?
Ehh?!
Ehhhh?!!!
"What, what?! Where am I?! Weren't I in my room a moment ago?!" The place is like a courtroom. Several men are looking in her way.
The redhead man stared at the girl, confused. Then he realized Kristin’s. "...oh, pardon me. Feeling a bit shocked, are we?" The redhead speaks. "Well, that's understandable. You've just arrived, after all." He smiled and hummed a low deep voice. "As a human, it will probably take a little while for you to adjust to things here in the Devildom."
"The devildom?" Kristin’s asked.
"Yes, exactly, the Devildom. I see that you catch on quickly. Excellent."
Is he mocking me?!
The redhead introduced himself as Diavolo, the ruler of demons. He then showed Kristin’s where we were, the Royal Academy of Diavolo.
That reminds me of the letter!
"Wait! I just signed a letter of acceptance to this academy! Is this that, RAD?"
Diavolo smiled and laughed. "Ahaha! You sure are quick! I think we have chosen a great future human student, right, Lucifer?"
Lucifer?!
"We'll see how she survives until the end of the semester," the deep voice came from a man with dark hair and red eyes, tall and handsome. There was something majestic and intimidating from his mere presence. It gives a shiver through Kristin’s.
"Kristin, this is Lucifer. He is a demon and the Avatar of Pride. He's also the vice president of the student council and my right-hand man..and not just in title, I assure you. Beyond that, he's also my trusted friend."
"Flattery will get you nowhere, Diavolo."
Kristin blink, shaking her head. Thinking this is all a dream. Her heart tells me this is real. Kristin’s first instinct tells her what to do if it is.
"Um, sorry, excuse me," Kristin voice was tiny. The two demons (?) turned back at me. "You mean the Devildom, demons, and Lucifer, as in the demon from the bible." Kristin chuckled. "So this is Hell, right?"
The mention of the bible makes Lucifer frown. Diavolo smiled at her. "Ah, you read those books, Kristin?"
"Ye, yes," Kristin stomach felt like it was turning. Dreading for their answer.
Lucifer sighs. "Most written there are poetic, but, yes, I am that Lucifer." He smiled. There was something sinister and evil in it.
Right, following my instinct. "...aha! Kyaaa!!!" Kristin run toward the exit she can find and not looking back. The demons stayed, shocked by her reaction.
"Pfft, ahahaha!!!" Laughter aloud from a blond man sitting in the row of chairs. "My Diavolo, she just runs away like that?!" The blonde man known as Satan chuckled.
"She's already scared to death with you, Lucifer!" The blonde strawberries chuckled with his brother, the demon known as Asmodeus.
Lucifer glared at his brother. "Instead of sitting there, doing nothing, I order you two to catch her and bring her back here, NOW!"
Satan clicked his tongue. "Tch should've kept it in my mouth," he stood up from his chair despite his comment.
Asmo sighs. "Hah~what a drag, but it'll be fun catching a human, I guess."
xXxXxXxXxXxXxX
While running, Kristin said a prayer aloud.
"Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, kingdom come!" Kristin chants the Lord's Prayer in the hallway. She didn't notice demons walking by, falling on their knees whenever Kristin passed by with her chants.
"Please, Lord! Help me get back home!!!"
From a turning corridor, jump out the demon Satan and Asmodeus. Kristin stop as she felt a heavy presence from them. Kristin steps back.
"You, YOU?!"
"Now, little human, I suggest you come with us," Satan said; his voice was calm, but his eyes glared at her.
"Don't worry, we won't eat you!" Asmodeus chuckled evilly, his eyes gleaming at Kristin. For a moment, she felt a tingle she had never experienced.
"Asmo! Don't charm her!" Satan slaps Asmo's shoulder.
"Ow! I can't help myself! Besides! She's cute!"
Kristin realized the demon had already done something to her. Her heart was beating fast in fear. "Please, someone help me,"
POOF!
A puff of smoke pulled out from the human. Satan and Asmo coughed. When the smoke was clear, their eyes widened at what had become of the human.
XxXxXxXxXxX
Satan and Asmo returned to the council room. Diavolo and Lucifer were confused as there was no human following them.
"Where is the human?" Lucifer is seething at the two brothers.
Satan and Asmo look at each other, then at Lucifer. "Um, well, you see,"
"Is that cotton candy?! Did you go out to get that?!" Lucifer point to Satan’s hand, fumes with anger.
"Aww, you should've told me you two went to buy snacks," the demon with a ginger hair, Beelzebub, said. His stomach growling like thunder at the sight of the purple cotton candy.
"We didn't go out to get snacks!" Asmo gasps. "We're not Beel! Lucifer, I thought you knew your little brothers better!" the demon pout, crossing his arms.
"Then what is that?! And where is the exchange student?!" Lucifer yelled.
Beel had stood up from his throne to the three brothers. He drooled with his eyes toward the cotton candy. "Can I eat it?"
"No!" Satan shouted. "You can't eat this cotton ball because she is…!"
The cotton candy cried. Lucifer and Beel stiffen at the crying voice from the candy. They noticed the candy had horns. Satan turned the candy in his hand. The face of a sheep with tears in its eyes.
"Meet Kristin Pearce, the exchange student,"

Next Chp.>
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You’ve finally graduated from college and now a bachelor of something. No more thesis or essays to be made. You've decided it's time to take a break before doing another gruesome work called getting a job. Though many would disagree with your decision, you don’t care about them. They don’t know what you’ve gone through, and you’re the one to decide your path.
So here you are in your living room, holding your game console about to drop into a comfy bean bag.
You close your eyes as you fall down, but something doesn’t feel right. The fall is… a little too long, and you landed on something hard. Confused, you get up and open your eyes only to see that you’re in some kind of courtroom.
“Welcome to Devildom Y/N.” said a red haired man. “..oh, pardon me. A little shocked, are we? Well that is all normal after all you’ve just arrived.” the man continued.
All of what the man said passed through your head as you’re still trying to understand ‘Devildom’. ‘Ahh, it seemed I finally died out of stress? Guess the holiday didn’t work after all.’ you thought.
You stared at the man as he introduced himself and explained the place you’re in. “ok. His name is Diavolo, and this place is RAD… Interesting acronym.” you noted to yourself.
‘Wait a second… shouldn’t he be telling me what bad deeds i have done by now?? I know I hated school but I'm pretty sure my kind of living hell would be being surrounded by A LOT of people.’
As diavolo finished his monologue you asked “Um.. I have 2 questions if that’s ok.”
“Oho, ask away.” Diavolo replied.
You take a deep breath “Am I dead? And if I am dead… or not? Why am I here?”
“I will explain everything to you, but first of all you are not dead.” said the black haired man that is now standing and walking over to you.
“y/n, this is Lucifer. He’s a demon and the Avatar of Pride.” Said Diavolo and he continues to explain how Lucifer is the vice president of the student council and his right-hand man and so on. You decided to observe the other 4 people in the room while Listening. After Diavolo has finished, Lucifer was about to continue his explanation but you decided your question is more important.
“ok… if you’re a demon… and everyone else is too. Don’t you all look too human?” Silence permeated through the room as you finished.
You hear Lucifer chuckle as he proceeds to spurt 2 pairs of wings and a pair of horns. “Does this look demonic enough for you?” Lucifer smiles menacingly at you.
“I think I expected something more… gory, sigh. We can just continue with the explanation.” ‘If I am in danger, they would’ve killed me a long time ago and wouldn’t be so polite… right?’
Lucifer is confused and surprised at how calm you’re taking everything, but he continues with the explanation anyway. He starts from the purpose of the exchange program, how long is your stay at Devildom, and what is your task as an exchange student.
Your excitement dies as you hear you’re going to write a thesis at the end of the program. ‘Welp… If you can do it once, you can do it again. Try not to internally die challenge. season 2.’
“Pfft no need to look so glum, you’re not going to write a doctoral thesis.” says Lucifer.
“Still… I didn’t remember I applied for another degree.”
“Well it’s time for you to meet your caretaker for your stay here.” Lucifer hands you a familiar looking device. “This is your DDD, it’s similar to your device from the Human Realm. Now, use it to call my brother Mammon.” You did as you’re told. You just didn’t expect a loud voice to greet you when you put the DDD to your ear.
“YOOooo Lucifer! I’ll be there in a minute, KAy! Totally didn’t forget!” The call immediately ended after that. You didn’t even get a chance to say anything. “Um, Lucifer… you sure he wouldn’t forget me in the middle of a street?” you look worriedly at Lucifer. “There is no need to worry, he is the only one that is available to do the task.” Lucifer continued by introducing apparently his brothers.
Just as the ‘Intro to the 7 Deadly Sins’ finishes, Mammon arrives with a loud bang of a door.
“HEYYA! Where’s that puny little human I need to take care of?”
“And that… is Mammon, Avatar of Greed.” Lucifer sighed. “Now that you’re here. Take the human to the House of Lamentation. You’ll be living with the 6 of us.”
“What about my things? I would need to get back if I want to stay for a year here don't I?”
“You’ll find it in your room.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The walk to HoL was… as you expected. Mammon rambles the whole walk talking about how you’re just a weak human and must be grateful that he’s your guardian, how you must address him by Great Mammon, How dangerous other demons are to humans and so on.
You kept answering him with ok and all agreeing kind of hum as you’re getting annoyed at how noisy he’s being. ‘He’ll stop at some point right? RIGHT!?’
As you arrive at HoL a loud shout calls out. “MAMMMOON RETURN MY MONEY NOW!!!” A blue haired male comes running down the stairs with a very angry face.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re now hiding in what you suppose the dining room under a long table. The last thing you remembered was Mammon saying “IT’S EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELVES” as he ran away, and you also ran, he was so fast that you lost him in less than 3 seconds. ‘Why am I hiding again??? Ah right… a random angry dude encountered’
You came out of the table and looked around. ‘He left me before getting me to my room… sigh I guess I just have to find it on my own.’
The nearest door to you is next to the kitchen and when you open the door you see some of your stuff and suitcases. ‘Oh I got lucky.’
The room is spacious and lush with plants on the wall. The lamp on the ceiling is emitting quite some heat. You suppose it was a substitute for the sun that lacks in Devildom. You go to unpack your suitcases and find some of your books along with your clothes and underwares. ‘I don’t want to think about it but… you can’t say I won't be creeped out when someone I don't know packs my underwear!!’
“They really got all my necessities, from toothbrush to sketchbooks.” “I probably should walk around and familiarize myself… it’s still too early to sleep.”
Your door opens and Mammon’s head pops in “oh you found your room.” “AAA GOD DAMMIT!! CAN’t you knock!?” Mammon cringes at that. “Yea yea, I’m just checking on ya. I see ya got everything covered. Chiao”. Mammon was leaving  “w-wait... I... might need some… g-guidance from the Great Mammon, mind touring me around?” Mammon smiles smugly “well since you said it that way The Great Mammon will give ya puny human some guidance around HoL!”
‘Good, he’s predictable. Use the right word and all will be going fine.’
Mammon tours you around HoL, he tells you some histories and stories behind some items in HoL. Mammon tells you not to touch anything in case the item is cursed. At the hall there were portraits of the brothers and one you haven’t met. You guessed it belonged to the Avatar of Sloth, considering that every other deadly sin had been introduced. You thought that it isn’t your business, so you didn’t ask where sloth is.
The tour goes smoothly as you and Mammon jokes around. When you check the time, the tour has gone for 1 and half hours. “Aaand that is the end of our tour.” Mammon smiles brightly.
“Ah it’s almost time for dinner, let’s go to the dining room.” “I’m not on the menu am I?” Mammon smiles suspiciously at you “oh, what if you are.” “pfft alright I know you’re joking. Come on let’s go to the dining room” Mammon laughs and continues walking.
You smile ‘I suppose he isn’t that bad. Quite nice actually… just a little noisy and annoying.’
The dinner was quite eventful. Mammon had to get the blue haired guy who’s name is Leviathan to dinner. Leviathan asked… well more like scolding you why you ran earlier that day. The food was… intriguing, it looks very normal, too normal but it was made with very different ingredients and it tastes somewhat similar but different. ‘I am now interested to learn more about devildom cuisines.’ The food portion you got was too much for you and Beelzebub asked if he could eat your leftovers. You don’t mind it much and give it to him.
You laughed to yourself, ‘This is going to be some interesting year i got.’

AVATAR: PURPLE BLOOD
Fanfiction
CHAPTER I
Planet Earth, year 2175, Future.
That day... He felt like all his hopes were fading away, he was there, helpless between the rain and an alley that seemed to have no way out, in the middle of a world upside down, next to an endless number of problems that fell on top of him.
He was alone, just as he came into the world. Full of unpaid debts and with a sick sister, having only 3 months to live, the one who was the only family he had, when no parent decided to adopt him in that orphanage.
- Asshole! You promised!, You promised that you would get the money in less than 3 months! - shouted the young man looking at him furiously, while holding that guy, who had an army uniform.
- I'm sorry, Jack... Please... Just give me a few more months and I can gather all the money to pay you!- said the subject, feeling how cowardice consumed him.
- Do you think I look stupid, anyway? Do you think I'm gonna let you just walk out of here like nothing and steal from me?, After how I help you!, You lied!, I should... - he exclaimed punching her in the jaw, making her teeth bleed quickly.
- Just give me a few more weeks!, Yeah?, I swear! - said the subject between gasps, while his body did not stop shaking.
- Don't you understand?..?, I gave you only one fucking year... I don't have time anymore!, if I don't do something soon... He's going to die! She's my sister!- shouted the boy with all his might, pulling the opposite by the shirt, while he did not have the strength to look him in the eyes.
- Jack... Please, just listen to me... I know how you can get the money for your sister's operation... - he mentioned the guy looking him in the eyes, while swallowing saliva, while Jack looked at him with a deep hatred.
"You have 1 minute," Jack said, abruptly releasing him from his shirt, as he tried to get up.
- Do you remember Zoey? ... Zoey can help you. She works for a place called the RDA now. She has an important position. If you look her up and explain what happened with Abigail, she can help you get all the money. It won't be easy... But the salary is VERY good - the guy mentioned and then looked him in the eye.
Zoey... Undoubtedly that name became familiar to him, she was his roommate and the one who accompanied them in all their games when they were just children, the day he left the orphanage, was the day one of the three musketeers had left.
- Are you talking about...... Zoey Chacon? - Jack mentioned thinking carefully about his words.
- If ... I used to work for them, but I helped her get in undercover in exchange for her retiring me. Apparently she needed to look for something "special"... Or someone... It's a long story," explained the fellow, as Jack looked at him suspiciously.
"Take me there," said the giving a single glance back.
Only the one who still keeps going despite the circumstances... She knows that she is made for the strongest...
This kid wouldn't know exactly the place he would be facing, he wouldn't know if he would be ready or if he would manage to win... But I would be willing to do everything necessary to get the sister's cure, even if I lost my life, to get it.
And he had to travel light years, to Pandora, an exotic planet with endless wonders waiting for him... So many that mathematics would not be enough to prove them.
Weeks later...
Now Zoey was a woman and it was no wonder, she had been left without her mother at such a young age, besides not having a minimum knowledge of her origin, life had taught her not to depend on fairy tales. However, he was someone with clear motivations and a lot of struggles to win.
With great cunning, she had managed to go from a simple chemistry student to infiltrate as a covert scientist of the RDA, a military base specialized in the study of Na'vi intelligence, outside her planet.
To many she seemed like a girl who was only good at following orders, but she had secrets up her sleeve... And he would make sure to achieve them one by one... Until his plan, he will manage to complete at all.
He was in the laboratories, making the register of strange chemical components that he had extracted, which he had written in a notebook that he hid between his robes.
He was somewhat curious, since he would soon meet the leader of the RDA army, as he had heard, he lost the battle against the natives for the second time... The one which had been led by one of the members who had previously belonged to this same base.
Jake Sully... And to think that his brother Tom, would have taken that place... Sometimes he wondered, what would have happened if he hadn't died?, He knew Pandora like the back of his hand... Maybe things would have been very different... Well, the... He was much more than just an acquaintance for her.
When General Ardmore arrived, he received her with a cordial smile, while she informed him of her arrival... The one who fulfilled all his suspicions and would become... On his next victim.
- Welcome Colonel Quaritch, introduced you to Miss Penelope Moore, she will give you all the instructions regarding the toxin - mentioned the lady, observing the big blue-skinned cat, as he arrived with several wounds after the war, then retired.
She watched that guy up and down carefully, he was really tall and his body could easily break her in seconds, conditions that did not intimidate her at all.
Her body was anatomically impressive, like that of any Na'vi and her large amber eyes watched her with confusion.
Yes, I gathered all the answers and without a shred of doubt...
No words came out of his mouth and he was as still as a statue, it seemed that when he saw her his mind had gone blank, his pupils dilated and his tail seemed to move unconsciously.
- Hey, are you okay? - she asked him, watching him without being able to understand, until he managed to react.
- Penelope? And what kind of person uses a name like that? it sounds like a farce to me...- Quaritch mentioned letting out a sarcastic laugh.
- Ha!, There is nothing more fake in this life than a copy... And to show you, she's talking herself," she said, smiling pretentiously, while raising an eyebrow. As he wiped away her smile and frowned.
Aren't you too young to be a scientist? - he said leaning his elbow on a wall, while staring at her raising an eyebrow.
- Excuse me?, Are we here to talk about me or about the third chance you need to clear your name?- he refuted seriously, while extracting some samples of the substance.
This individual looked at her in shock, he had the character of the late Dr. Grace, but his tongue was even sharper.
- Well, I'm all ears... Girl - he mentioned with a flirtatious smile, while she rolled her eyes in displeasure.
Upon arrival...
When Jack had arrived at the place, he had discovered that his expectations had remained minimal for what his sight could contemplate, Pandora was a gigantic, extraordinary and unlike anything seen by human before.
There were large-scale machines with great advances in technology, while several armies performed their daily exercise routines, only some wore the appearance similar to the natives, those they called Avatars.
- Wow... My sister would have loved to see this... And as an idiot I didn't even bring a camera - he mentioned laughing a little, because he was mesmerized by the environment, but as he reacted, he had realized that he had stumbled upon one of the soldiers, who was carrying a considerable amount of a rare violet substance in his hands.
- Shit! Look what you did! They're going to kill me because of you! - exclaimed the soldier about to panic, watching as much of the liquid fell into the pipes connecting the seas of the base.
No one would imagine that just those simple drops...
They would be the beginning of an incredible catastrophe.
And now what could happen?
CONTINUE ...

Digital Heart
Foul Legacy Childe x Reader Gender Neutral (no pronouns mentioned) Angst Warnings: Falling, fighting, minor injuries, nausea, breathlessness
In which Genshin is an interactive RPG accessed through an immersive headset, and you find yourself pushed to play it by your friends.
~ * ~
It started with a game.
For thirty days and thirty nights, your friends have been pleading for you to play it. Genshin Impact it was called, an free immersive open-world RPG with hundreds of weapons, characters, and power ups. Accessible through a specialized headset that tracked movement, it had only been a month since the freely downloadable game’s release and it was already a success, garnering praise from the customizable main character and the interactive playstyle. Play it. Your friends beg. You’ll love it. We can play together.
You refuse at first. The game might be free, but the headset isn’t, and you need to save that money to pay for food and clothes. Alongside your financial state was your schedule, a long list of work and chores that left little time to play games with constant updates like Genshin, so you told your friends- politely, as that’s how you were raised- that it’d have to wait. They agreed, quietly.
Then the next day, they ask again. You make an excuse- too much work. They agree, again.
The second day, asking. You’re too tired, you say. Of course, they respond.
Everyday, the same question. The same request, the same demand. It wears on you, amused exasperation drawing a sigh from you everytime you open your notifications.
Play it.
You can’t.
Play it.
You don’t have time.
Play it.
You need to focus!
Play it.
…Alright.
Finally, you cave. You create an account, a headset en route to your house. You clear an area in your house so you don’t accidentally hit anything. The headset arrives, and you insert the batteries, said to last up to an entire day playing nonstop, a stage you dearly hope you never reach. You pull it down over your head, cringing at the thought of your hair getting so mussed, and switch it on. A long and potentially worrying warning flashes before your eyes and you blink, not used to the in-depth cameras yet, as the screen goes white.
Welcome to Genshin Impact! Please name your character… appears, and you subsequently slip down the rabbit hole.
It’s fun, you find. Your friends were right, you did like Genshin Impact, although you thank your lucky stars that you weren’t as attached as some players were, as you still had work and life to attend to. The combat and story were enjoyable, and the characters were funny and diverse in personality and playstyles. The main character, who was also your customizable avatar, was quite literally you, the story explained, a traveler from distant lands who fell face first into Teyvat by mistake and tragedy. Of course you still haven’t gotten entirely used to the whole immersion thing, and sometimes shuddered under the eerily real programming of the NPCs and characters, but that was nigh unnoticeable when focusing on fighting monsters. Your deep love for exploration and discovery surfaces, and you take as long as you want exploring every inch of the wonderfully modelled map as you follow the main story, or “Archon Quests”. You calm the great dragon Dvalin and bid your friends at Mondstadt- Kaeya, Amber, Lisa, Diluc, Jean, and Venti- goodbye, Liyue sprawling out before you in wooded forests and cloud-covered mountains. A mysterious man runs across you at the Inn, the immortal Adeptus Xiao, although you would’ve thought he was quite young due to his short stature, and you encounter Zhongli in the Harbor, along with Lady Ningguang and her subordinates, Keqing and Ganyu. A member of the malicious-seeming Fatui also greets you and introduces himself as Childe, a name you don’t trust for a second, yet find yourself getting strangely attached too. The story progresses with you at Zhongli and Ningguang’s sides, the suspicion being pointed more and more to the Fatui, and you find yourself staring up at the elegant pillars of the Golden House, the mora mint building.
You gulp. You know this is where Childe’s boss battle takes place, and you’re not sure if your team is prepared, even if you stocked up on food right before leaving the Harbor. Inhaling a deep breath, you shove the enormous front doors open, and a cutscene pulls your fear tight against your throat. Everyone’s suspicions were right- he was here to steal the Geo Archon’s gnosis, and you have to stop him.
Easier said than done. The cutscene of your face shows a determined, fierce expression, instead of the nervous one you had in real life, and you almost laugh. You dearly hope your characters are strong enough, and step into the arena.
Phases One and Two are relatively short, as you quickly learn to avoid using Childe’s respective elements of his Vision and Delusion while his shield is up. The battle is fun and fast-paced, and you feel a thrill in your bones as you dodge another attack before swinging your sword in retaliation. Childe stumbles, and Phase Two ends with a cutscene. The corpse of Rex Lapis, something you considered a bit gruesome, is discovered to have no gnosis, and you can feel the raw anger in the Harbinger’s voice as the air crackles and hisses. A horrible, blinding light shines, and Childe is gone.
At least, human Childe is gone. In his place floats a monstrous version of himself, nearly 14 feet tall and complete with horns and armor, and your mouth drops open slightly as you gaze at him wide eyed. But your focus is violently shifted when the floor cracks and turns to dust, sending you tumbling down into the belly of the Golden House. You land with an unceremonial thump, thankful that the creators hadn’t been cruel enough to make you feel the damage you took in-game.
And Phase Three, the final phase of Harbinger Tartaglia, commences.
He has considerably more health, and his attacks can range from irritating to deadly, you just barely dodging the falling Hydro arrows that would’ve slaughtered your current character. Of course, it doesn’t help that you’re sneaking glances at your attacker every few minutes. Your mind wanders to the lore as you shield yourself from violet lightning. Does this transformation hurt? Where does it come from? Why does it look like a moth? Maybe one day you’ll get answers.
Despite the raised difficulty, Phase Three also ends rather quickly. Your characters, it seems, were overleveled. The remainder of the Archon Quest passes, Childe reappearing once at the end, and it’s over. The screen blips off as you log out and place the headset on a table before laying on your bed and using the last few hours before bed to contemplate what you’ve just seen.
The next days quickly fall into routine. After completing all your work, you’d take an hour or two to play Genshin, leveling up your characters even more and going through various quests, Childe’s included. You see his transformation, dubbed the Foul Legacy form, again, and almost swoon before stopping and giving yourself a harsh scolding. You fulfill requests and tasks for various people around Teyvat, or at least the parts of Teyvat you can access, and improve your skills and stats. You have a talent for dodging, you find, and use it to your advantage while fighting.
And every Monday, when the clock resets, you re-enter Golden House to battle with Childe and claim your just rewards.
Of course you could do it everyday, but a squirming, guilty feeling in your gut stops you, making you feel like you’re hurting him, no matter how many times you try to tell yourself that he’s simply a video game character, a program in an electronic system.
This thought makes you a bit sad, you think.
The fights are getting easier, something you credit to your rising stars of characters, and you stand before the Ley Line Blossom quicker and quicker each time, something you expect to be no different today.
Phases One and Two are just the same as you take advantage of Vaporize and Overload, drowning out Childe’s pre-programmed sounds of pain with your own abilities. The battle pauses, and you’re transported to the same chamber underground, with its fiery walls and glittering arches, as the fight resumes. With the same attacks and characters, it’s becoming a tad dull, and you frown, wondering if you should try to get another character soon.
You’re lost in your thoughts when you slip and fall.
This you feel in the real world, having landed hard on your back and knocked the air out of your lungs. For a few moments you struggle to breathe, and Childe takes the opportunity to appear right over you, his spear flashing purple. You swear internally, bracing yourself as he readies his weapon.
But the strike never comes. You inhale desperately, oxygen finally flowing into your chest, and open your eyes. The graphics of your game are gray and fuzzy around the edges, framing Childe as he slowly puts his spear down and, to your amazement and slight terror, jerkily reaches towards you. Voice clips play overhead, pieced together to make not words, but a static-interspersed whining sound, much like a concerned beast. Your eyes widen, and Childe stops, withdrawing slightly almost as if he’s worried that you’re afraid, and you whisper his name once, as a tentative question.
Then with crackle and a ping, your game crashes and everything goes black.
You gasp and rip off the headset, chest heaving as you struggle to comprehend what just happened. You’re shaking, nervous and fearful, but curiosity runs strong through your veins. Your finger slides towards the On button, and you press it and slip the device back on.
You’re standing outside, the doors of the Golden House closed as if the battle never happened. The guards surrounding it look ordinary, occasionally repeating phrases you’ve heard and ignored countless times. Glancing around and trying to squash the nauseous bubbling feeling in your gut, you push the doors open again.
It’s different this time. Instead of being in the upper room, you fall a short distance into the Third Phase Chamber, your shoes clicking on the tiled floor. Childe floats in the center, his back to you, and you take a tentative step forward. He turns and looks you dead in the eyes, before flinging his spear to the side and rushing towards you on his feet, kneeling to your height. Instinctively, you jump away as he sits on the ground before you, letting out joyful chirps and trills, sounds you didn’t even know he could make. You approach him, sword held loosely in your hand as an extra precaution, and he tilts his head and coos as you cautiously sit with him. Your hands are trembling as you try to understand that this is real, he is real, all of this is happening.
And if it’s not, then it’s some damn good programming.
Questions start to fill your mind, one after another, and you ask him, responses coming as a nod or a headshake.
Is this real?
Yes.
Or programming?
No.
Could you always do this?
No.
Just today?
No.
Over a period of time. Yes.
How…?
The final question hangs in the air, and he shrugs slightly, then points at you. You did this. You woke him up, made him feel pain, sorrow, and happiness, all stemming from you, his love for you. From the minute the Archon Quests let you meet, he was vaguely curious, the most emotion he’s ever felt in his cold, empty programming since before. And when the code broke, he adored you, not like Childe viciously adored battle, but a soft adoration, one with all his digital heart could muster. You smile, and he purrs at what a wonderful smile it is.
Something flickers in the corner of your eye. Then another. And another. You turn and squint, then gasp as your surroundings begin to dissolve into colorful squares, the game taunting you as it glitches and lags. You and Childe leap to your feet, only to watch helplessly as the world crumbles away. You look down at your hands and see them beginning to break apart into pixels. Childe reaches out to hug you, to hold you close, but his hand passes right through you, a sickening reminder of how unreal he is. He wails in anguish as you both try to grasp each other, only to shatter more, the pixels covering your screen like rain on a windowpane.
Your game crashes for a second time, the only sound a desperate whimper that soon fades into an electronic squealing.
It takes a week to fix your device, the tech people saying that it was “overloaded”. Finally the repairs are finished, and you’re back at the Golden House, the doors already ajar. You slip into the room, expecting either a battle or, hopefully, someone to greet you.
But the room is empty. No one, human nor monster, stands in the center. Instead there is one lonely Ley Line Blossom, waiting, the final gift from an impossible love.

MASTERLIST
You stayed in peaceful silence next to your boyfriend as you read and he worked. Your leg was draped over one of his so you could have some contact but not enough that either of you would get distracted. You often thought about how thankful you were that you could have moments like this. That you had been together long enough and were comfortable enough with each other that you could spend evenings like this.
Zuko fidgeted a bit in his place and you glanced over at him. He had bags under his eyes and they looked red. You knew that he had been overworking himself lately and not getting enough sleep. Many nights he would come to bed after you had fallen asleep and then leave before you woke up simply because there was so much for him to do. You also knew that you wanted to take care of him and to let him know that his mental well-being was just as important as getting his list of tasks done. At that thought, you closed your book and sat up a bit.
"Zuko?" you asked quietly, not wanting to disturb the peace in the room.
"Hm?" he hummed out but he did not look up from his work.
"Zuko, honey, you have to stop working for a minute." You tried to reason but he just huffed. You didn't say anything else but you slowly moved to take his things off of his lap, giving him time to finish reading the paragraph he was on. He let you slip the papers into your hands and you placed them on his nearby desk. You stood silently and grabbed his hand to pull him up.
He didn't complain or make any indication that he didn't want to get up as you led him to your shared bathroom. You had him brush his teeth and you pulled his hair into a bun for him before you both headed back to bed, this time in your pajamas and with the intent of going to sleep.
"Actually, can you mess with my hair?" he almost whispered. He requested you touch his hair every so often because he loved the feeling of your fingers carding through it.
"Of course, my love," you assured and he smiled at you.
You sat on the bed, your back against the headboard. He laid next to you so his head was on your lap and you were looking down at him. You began to brush through his hair with your fingers, running your nails along his scalp. His eyes closed at the feeling as he sighed. You could tell that the anxiety of the day was leaving him.
After you had been brushing through his hair for some time and his breathing had evened out, you moved to run your fingers over the lines of his face. You just assumed that he was asleep from how calm and still he seemed. Your fingers traced along his brow lines and his eyes. You moved them down towards the shape of his nose and then his jaw. When you moved back up his face, you traced along the edges of his scar. You never asked him about it and you didn't actually know how he got it. You were from the earth kingdom and had never heard any conversation around the palace about it so you assumed that he was in some sort of accident. You knew that he would eventually tell you how it happened if he wanted to. As you were lost in thought you hadn't even noticed that his eyes were open, gazing at you from your lap. When you accidentally met his gaze, you flinched, like you had been caught doing something wrong.
"You can touch it, it's okay." He whispered out to reassure you and you hesitated before tracing it again. "Have you already heard the story?" he questioned. He knew that you hadn't known much about him when you met and that stories around the palace had ceased, mostly because it was old news and he no longer seemed self-conscious about it.
You shook your head shyly.
"Do you want to?"
You made eye contact with him. "If you don't mind telling it." You tried to make sure that he knew he didn't have to. He smiled up at you and sat up from your lap. He moved so that he was sitting in front of you, legs crossed under him to match yours. His knees were touching yours and he pulled your hands onto his lap. He looked up into your eyes and felt anxiety despite your non-judgemental gaze. He paused for a moment.
"My father did it." He started, looking at your face as you gasped a bit but you tried not to react, wanting him to continue uninterrupted. "When I was younger, I think I was thirteen, I sat in on a war meeting with my father and his advisors." His gaze had drifted down towards where your fingers were tangled with his.
"I disagreed with something, I spoke up. One of the generals had recommended sacrificing men as bait for a trap and I felt like I had to say something. It was seen as an act of disrespect so my father told me I would be fighting in an agni kai to settle the matter."
You kept your gaze on his face. You had only seen one agni kai in your time in the fire nation and it was not something you wished to see again. You struggled to believe anyone would expect a thirteen-year-old to fight in such a match.
"When I showed up, I had assumed I would fight the general, that was who I disagreed with. Instead, my father stepped forward to fight me. I knew I couldn't have won but I also didn't want to fight him because he was my father and I didn't want to show him violence. I got on my knees and asked him to forgive me but he saw it as a sign of weakness."
Zuko took a deep breath. He hadn't had to tell this story in a while and remembering the traumatic fight made him feel emotional.
"He burned me for my vulnerability. I was then exiled by my father, my scar a brand to let the kingdom know of my shame, and he sent me on my impossible mission to find the avatar. To find Aang." He finished, looking up to your gaze again. He was a bit surprised to see tears streaming down your face and he immediately cooed at you, shushing you and wiping your tears away.
You let out a broken sob and he brought his hand to the back of your neck to pull you into him so your face rested against his shoulder. Your fingers moved so that they were latched onto his shirt. You cried quietly for a few minutes, Zuko's hand soothing you by rubbing along your back.
"I'm so sorry." You whispered out. Zuko didn't respond immediately, thinking about his answer. For a while he would have said 'it's okay or 'i had it coming' but he now knew that it wasn't true. That it was cruel and he shouldn't have had to go through that.
"I'm okay now." He decided on and you nodded against him. You sat up a bit and moved your hand to cup his jaw on the side of his scar, your thumb just barely grazing over the edge of it.
"You are beautiful." You breathed out and Zuko was surprised by your words but they almost brought tears to his eyes. "Your father was a cruel and spiteful man and for him to have taken his anger out on his own child when you were just a kid is heartbreaking. I'm so sorry you had to go through that and I am so proud of you for having become such an amazing man in spite of your cruel upbringing."
You wiped away the single tear that trailed down his face.
"Will you marry me?" He whispered out, surprising himself a bit. He had of course been planning on proposing to you but he had a plan set up months from now. It was elaborate and romantic but as he sat in front of you, he wanted to be able to say he was your husband as soon as possible. Your face cracked into a smile and you giggled a bit. Zuko wanted to hear that sound for the rest of his life.
"Of course I will, Firelord Zuko." Your words reminded you of your future and your face paled a bit. Zuko was ecstatic that you said yes but worried as your face showed anxiety. "I'm going to be royalty." You choked out, your fear showing. You had, of course, hoped that you would be spending the rest of your life with Zuko, but you had never given your future rank much thought. Zuko let out a laugh at your realization.
"You already are." He added and you quirked your eyebrow in question. "You are the person I care for the most in the world, you are my closest advisor and you help me in all of my decisions, you are under my protection at all times. You are already queen in practice, just not in title. You will rule by my side as an equal as you already do. As you have done for the last 2 years."
You smiled at his reassurance and leaned forward to pull him into a searing kiss. You hoped that he could feel all of the emotions you were trying to express through it. He hummed against your lips and brought his hand up to rest in your hair. When you both pulled away, out of breath, he leaned his forehead against yours.
"I love you." He mumbled out and you smiled.
"Nowhere near as much as I love you." you replied easily.

Everyone in the mirror chamber: 👀👀👀
Vil: *in shock and awe* ᵂʰᵃᵗ ᵗʰᵉ ᶠᵘᵘᶜᵏ..
During chapter 6 Vil comes to yuu during vdc training camp and askes her questions about her relationship with the mirror of darkness.
Vil: Miss yuu can I ask you about the mirror.. again?
Mc: *puts down her tea* oh yes! I never did answer your questions earlier
Mc: long ago I heard whipers in a village that a house deep in the forest lived a very handsome man who had magic... he had a daughter a real daddies girl.. I found her odd at first as she'd ask him everyday if she was beautiful and he'd reply 'the fairest in the land'
Rook: *knows where this is going*
Mc: but like most people around that time he became sick. One day me and the girl went around the forest collecting herbs for his medicine... when we came back he gone all that was left was a pile of his clothes and a mirror..
Kalim: *blinking back tears* then what happened 🥺
Mc: the poor thing was inconsolable.. she locked herself in her father's room and refused to comeout. Though I should have told her but I found a letter from him, detailing what he had done.
Deuce: *on the edge of his seat* them what
Mc: he used the rest of his magic to turn himself into a mirror for his daughter.. i'd seen that once before when I stayed the night at a beasts castle, but thats a story for another time.
Vil: was the girl you speak of the beautiful queen?
Mc: yes her name Grimhilde... in his letter he asked if I could look over his daughter make sure she lived a happy and long life... though I feel I failed him.
KINGDOM HEARTS HAPPENS AND YOU CANNOT WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND!
When yuu has the prophetic dreams before overblot and she's mickey in the mirror
Mc: *notices a shadow in the mirror above the fireplace* that shape seems oddly familiar...
Mirror figure: Aha
Mc: *eyes widen* KING MICKEY
Mickey:*in shock aswell* YUU!
The first years remind her of Sora and Co. and catches herself reminiscening about them. They don't know what to do when they catch her crying.
Ace: M-Mc! Are you okay?
Sebek: WHO DARES MAKE LADY YUU CRY I'LL HAVE THEIR HEADS!
Grimm: *rubbing against yuu worried* henchmen?
Mc: No no.. I'm fine it's just you six remind me of some people I knew years ago.
During history trein asks mc about the great war and if she knew the inside scoop on why it started.
Mc: which one? there have been many
Trien: many..? I know only of one..
Mc: yes! There was the first keyblade war, the first human-fae war, Chernabog's war, the inter-species war, the second keyblade war and the second human-fea war.
Lila: *who came to drop off some papers* two human-fae wars..?
Mc: oh Lila! Yes the first one is when I crowned Maleficent as queen and the second one happend when a close friend of hers betrayed her...there was to be a third on but the human queen that started it was turned into a goat
Trein: keyblade war?
Mc: when magic was just becoming accepted..*clears her throat* it was revealed that there was a secret society of heros who wielded keyblades. It was believed there was a world where all magic come from.
Ace: are there still people who have keyblades?
Mc: no.. the hearts of people to day are to dark..
Deuce: to dark..?
Mc: back then people hearts where pure, why? The keyblade wielders protect people from the darkness. The people believed in a world where all from, only the Wilders could access the world.
Trein: *writing every thing down* what was this place called?
Mc: Kingdom Hearts... but as most stories go all of them wanted control over the world, but they needed the X-blade this caused a war of cataclysmic proportions. It pushed the world into darkness and killed many and shattered the x-blade and scattered across the world... kingdom hearts was to be forever lost.
Scarabia mob: you where alive during all that!?
Mc: no, but a close friend of mine was, but I was alive during the second
Sorry for my rambling and if i broke any of the rules during this feel free to delete of so.. but This is where I'm gonna stop as I've been typing this up for the past hour or so.. 🙇🏽‍♀️🙇🏽‍♀️
No rules have been broken (I didnt have very much anyway lol)
I really like this whole post lol though unfortunately I have not seen kingdom hearts so idk a lot of references here
Also Yuu does carry a staff in formal occasions. Lilia made joke on her saying she looked like an old woman with that but was promptly shut up when Yuu recalled a story of Lilia when he was younger

Free Angel GN! Angel MC x Obey Me, Part 1
Summary: You are the third Angel to be welcome in Diavolo’s exchange program. This is the first time in your life that you are free from any Angelic codes, and you’re interested to indulge. You can’t explore hell alone though, so you’ll be given the Avatar of Wrath as a guardian.
This is my writing out the AU i had for my own mc, but as an MC insert. This first chapter is SFW, but if I continue, there will be NSFW smutty chapters. This Angel wants to have some fun in hell, and is Poly so ✨
Word Count: 3459
“Are you excited?” Simeon looked down to Luke. Who was fussing over his own clothes. Making sure everything was neat and presentable.
“Of course not,” Luke huffed. “This is going to be the worst year.”
“I don’t know about that,” MC grinned as they rocked back onto their heels. “We’re going to learn quite a lot.” So much about the Devildom had been kept away from the angels. MC was created by God after the revolution. All they had ever been told was what to fear about the devils and their land. However, MC knew there were gaps in the story. Noticed the longing that flared in Simeon’s eyes whenever The Morningstar and his family were brought up. Which is why, as the magic circle began to glow, MC felt a great excitement. Luke watched the magic circle glow with wide eyes. While Simeon continued on as if nothing was changing.
“Try to keep an open mind, Luke. The Devildom is not all bad.” Simeon patted Luke’s head. “You might even make some friends.”  just as the magic circle completed. Reality spluttered for a second, and then everything was dark.
“Absolutely not!” Luke’s shrill voice was all that MC could sense. Then they tasted the air, cool and tinged with sulfur. “Make friends with Demons? I could never!” Luke prattled on while his eyes adjusted. After several blinks, MC could see the palace they stood in. The grandeur was almost repulsive. Gold trim and deep red walls. It was the beauty of wealth and statues.
“I hope you’ll be able to make friends during your stay.” A deep voice said from behind. MC spun around, and then had to crane their head upward to see who was there. His broad smile was so warm that it clashed with the royal regalia the man was dressed in. The red jacket  with a medallion on the shoulder. MC scrunched their nose, wondering why Hell would choose to continue earths obsession with war decoration. “Thank you for joining us.” The Man continued, and he bowed his head to the Angels. “I am Lord Diavolo, Prince of the Devildom. As well as the head of the exchange program.”
“Thank you for having us,” Simeon smiles as he walks over to the prince. Without hesitation, the two embrace in a familiar hug.
“I’m just so happy the program worked.” Diavolo rubs the back of his neck. “The humans will be coming this evening. So I’ll be able to help you all settle in and still make it for the humans.” Simeon and Diavolo continued to talk about details. Mainly the excitement over the humans. While Luke looked on with a fury.
“I can’t believe Simeon is being so familiar with the Demon Lord.” Luke crossed his arms. “We cannot befriend the enemy.”
“Yah.. Enemy.” Mc can feel something tighten in their stomach. Instead of processing that, the angel turns to look about the palace a little more. Now that they knew what the Prince looked like. Some portraits on the walls made more sense. The one that caught the angel’s eye was of a young Diavolo. He stood alone in a field of red. A skull of a dragon under his foot, and a toy left in the distant background. It had been commissioned to show the great power Diavolo had ever as a child. Unintentionally, it spoke some truth. A small child alone in a field. Left with death at his feet.
“I won’t be able to be around much in your day to day, I’m afraid.” Diavolo was now standing to face the whole group. So MC turned their attention back to the conversation. “But I do want to do my best to keep your stay in my realm as comfortable as possible. If there is anything we can do, please let us know.”
“Is there a way we can go back?” Luke asks with great seriousness.
“Luke!” Simeon gasps.
“That is what would make me most comfortable,” Luke huffs and crosses his arms.
“Luke, you can’t just-.” Simeon rubs the space between his brow.
“It’s fine,” Diavolo shrugs it off. “We all process homesickness in our own way. The spell to move between heaven and hell is a powerful one. So we truly won't be able to do this till next year, but if there is anything else we can do. Do ask and I will try to accommodate. Lucifer should be here soon, and he will bring you to your dormitories. As well as go down the basic rules of staying here.”
“Rules?” Mc asks, finally speaking up.
“Not much but briefly - Michael requested that you three still follow your codes, but there is no way for them to actually check.” Diavolo puts a hand on his chest. “One of our realms defining features is that your god’s awareness cannot reach here. So the rules you must follow are the rules of the devildom and whatever you personally value. Our rules you’ll find are much more lax.” Luke gasps in horror, but excitement only brewed within MC.
Two men in uniform walk into the Palace hall. One walks directly to Lord Diavolo’s side. Dark hair falling into a shock of green that followed framed half his face. They were stiff and despite the collected look. MC could see the anxiety running through their spine. The other kept a distance from the Angels. A cool dark look, judging each of them openly.
“My Lord we must be going.”
“I don’t have any more time?” Diavolo’s face falls.
“No, your next meeting has already begun.” They kept their voice rather calm, but their eyebrow twitched.
“Alright,” Diavolo sighs, but turns back to the angels quickly. “I truly hope you enjoy your stay in the Devildom. It’s an honor to have you here.” With that, Diavolo is ushered away.
“Now who could that brooding gentleman be,” Simeon was once again walking up to the strange demon. Though the man looked as disagreeable as before. He did let Simeon hug him. Only adjusting his jacket the moment he was free.
“You know who I am,”
“I am asking for the children,” Simeon looks back to Luke and MC. While Luke gets all huffy about their age. MC is truly an adult by the fact that they can just roll their eyes and get over it.
“My name is Lucifer,” He bow slightly to the three angels. “Avatar of Pride, and right hand to Lord Diavolo. When you need his help, come to me.” Lucifer sharpens his gaze on MC. “Diavolo is very busy, and I would prefer you to bother me than him.” Then his glare moved to Luke. Who paled and shuffled towards Simeon. “Now, if you will follow me. I’ll lead you to your housing for the year.” Lucifer walked briskly out of the Palace. “ Compared to the celestial realm, the Devildom functions much more like earth. The city is based on a money exchange. We will provide a small allowance once a month, but if you want to indulge, you’ll have to get a job.” Lucifer says all of this while walking briskly out of the Palace. Luke grumbles about nearly having to run, and MC has to fight back a laugh. “If you stay within the Devildom your life will be remarkably like that on earth. With a key distinction that there will be demons who lust for your blood every so often, and there is no sun.” Lucifer swung open the front door of the palace. Exposing the dark courtyard beyond, and the block void of the sky. Illuminated on the horizon was The Devildom. The glowing sector of Hell where Demons and spirits lived their personal lives. It glowed beautifully, and illuminated the Palace like a setting sun.
Normally, this effect was made greater by the fact that the courtyards had no lights. If one was to see, it was their own gift, or from the light of the city. The angels broke this by having their own innate glow. Casting warm shadows against the cool nature of hell. Lucifer glanced at the glow with mild annoyance. Normally, the walk from the palace to the road was his moment of peace. Now each step he was reminded about the great task this year would be.
“To help with the exchange, we have enrolled you three in the local university. There you can learn about how the systems of hell truly function, as well as our magical training programs. We have some of the most skilled magic users training with us.” Part of Diavolo’s plan was to show what Hell was truly worth. The eons didn’t pass without change, and under Diavolo that change was being brought to its most refined point. Lucifer himself had led many of the projects to start translating Hell’s data into deeper means of understanding… Books with narrative instead of strings of numbers or archaic runes.
“So you won’t be making us torture humans?” Luke snaps.
“Only if you want to.” Lucifer doesn’t even look back to Luke. He knew enough about the little angel to know it would start on a rant if provoked. He was already battling a headache and couldn’t stand the thought of being lectured by a child.
“I could never!” Luke brings his hand to his chest.
“Then you won’t.”
“What will we be learning then?” MC asks.
“Standard education for someone new to our system. History of the Devildom, Grimm economics, Devildom literature, Alchemy and potions 101, art, athletics,” Lucifer twirls a hand around. “The basics,”
“Oh that sounds… Fun” MC grimaces.
“Did you come here to have fun?” Lucifer glances back at the angel.
“So what if I did?” MC tries to be defensive, but can’t help cracking into a smile. It was rather funny seeing the confused look on Lucifer’s face.
“MC! We are not here to have fun, we have to learn and do as much research for our arch-”
“I know Luke,” MC groans. “We’re allowed to have Some fun.”
“Indeed,” Lucifer nods. “None of the classes should take all your time, so you’ll be able to have your own time. If you want to explore the Devildom please go in pairs. While you have Diavolo’s blessing, not all demons listen to authority. There is no promising what a rogue demon would do to a lone angel.”
MC scrunches up their face, which makes Simeon laugh. Meanwhile, Luke is actually trembling.
“Oh Luke, you look like a scared puppy.” Simeon tries to keep his voice sympathetic, but the hint of laughter is clear.
“A little chihuahua,” Lucifer smiles.
“I am not a chihuahua!” Luke shrieks!
---------------------------------
Purgatory Hall was a lot more comfortable than MC had expected. The interior was surprisingly bright and cozy. Though still favoring the overly ornate and plush. MC was wandering aimlessly through the halls. Luke was still hurt from the chihuahua incident by the time they were done getting situated. So Simeon had taken Luke out to get something sweet to make up for it. While at the time, MC had said they wanted to stay here and explore the house. They were now realizing that was a foolish choice. After looking in the rooms once,  MC was more than satisfied with exploring the house. So now they were draped across the couch. Flipping idly through their D.D.D. When MC opens the messages to pulls up Lucifer.
“You said I shouldn’t go out by myself. Simeon and Luke are often a pair without me. I could just risk it?” Dots appear quickly.
“No, let me find you a guide.”
Lucifer leaned back. Thinking about which of his brothers, he wants to make baby sit an angel. No one who might find it enjoyable like Asmo or Beel. He already planned on having Mammon for the human...
                    ----------------------
“Satan, would you be a guide for one of the Angel exchange students?”
“Are you actually asking me?” Satan looks over the top of his reading glasses.” Or are you just telling me in a passive manner.”
“It’s not passive,” Lucifer crosses his arms.” Answer my question.”
“No,” Satan leaned back into his chair. Lifting his book up to block Lucifer from view.
“You are just saying that because I am asking you.”
“Yes,” Satan smiles.
“Which is why I am going to make you do it.” Lucifer smiles back. “I think it will be an informative experience for you.”
“Informative?” Satan can feel the fires in his stomach boiling over, but his keeps his composure calm. It was centuries of practice. “As if I don’t hear enough about the celestial realm from you?”
“You hear our side of it, and now you can learn another.” Lucifer looks so sure of his convictions that it made Satan want to lift his chair and throw it through a wall. Instead, he took a deep breath for seven seconds and let it out in ten.
“How do you intend on making me do this?” Satan propped his elbow on the armchair, and then his head in his hand.
“I will tell Diavolo you refused to use your strength and knowledge to help his exchange program. If the angels are to learn the best qualities of Hell. Who is better informed than you? No harm would come to that angel with you near.” Lucifer has pride in many things. Not just himself, and that was one of his worst qualities. The way he looked at Satan with such knowing. Then how it could vanish into cold apathy. “It’s lazy work, really. You could have an audiobook in your ear if you truly needed it.”
Satan looked from Lucifer and down to the floor. Then he switched which way he was leaning in the chair. Fidgeting as he thought. Trying to find a way to accept that he will have to do this. Without having to agree with Lucifer.
“Fine, I don’t want to be lectured by Diavolo as well as you.” Satan begins to read his book again. “When do I start?”
“Now, they want to explore.” Lucifer’s face was full of mirth. If Satan showed that he was irritated, that would only play into what He wanted. So Satan sighed as he picked up the bookmark and wedges it in.
“The angels will be living in Purgatory hall, correct?” At least Satan could show he’d be competent in the task.
“Indeed.  MC is an Angel a little younger than you and will not know what to expect in the Devildom.”
“That we’re not all monsters or that monster’s still exist?” Satan slowly took of his glasses. Cleaning the lenses before tucking them away.
“Bit of both. Which you’re a perfect example of. ” Lucifer ignore the scowl that rips across Satan’s face. Instead, tapping his watch. “They asked me for a guide an hour ago, so I would appreciate it if we could hurry up.” Satan stands up and again takes a deep breath. Then many more. A deep breath each step of the way to purgatory hall. Asmo was hanging out in the hallway, but the moment they saw Satan. Asmo found an excuse to leave.
It was right up to the moment that Satan knocked on the door. That’s when he took one final breath and let the tension fall from his shoulders. Suddenly the portrait of composure with a grace in his eye. The door opened easily, and there stood MC. Satan was shocked to see that, despite being an angel. They had changed out of any holy robes and into something more comfortable. There wasn’t the annoying level of arrogance Satan had come to expect. Off to a good start, it would seem.
“Hello, My name is Satan. Lucifer sent me to be your guide.” Satan bowed slightly and smiled brightly as he stood up. His green eyes were glowing with genuine warmth.
“Oh, awesome,” MC rocked back on their heels. “I don’t really know where to go. I just want to see… stuff?” MC shrugs and smiles sheepishly. Satan felt something new in his chest. This Angel was genuinely curious about the Devildom.
“I know lots of lovely spots. Do you want some history or a bit of culture?” Satan raises a brow. Looking at MC as if they were co conspirators on some great plan. MC’s heart pick up the pace.
“Why not both?”
“Good choice,” Satan offers an elbow to the Angel. With flushed cheeks, the Angel accepts. “A friend of mine commissioned a new branch in the museum nearby. It’s full of artifacts that were destroyed by invades. Now in the Devildom we can restore the artifacts and get first-hand facts on the culture.”
“An accurate history or ones written by victors?”
“Accurate, of course,” Satan looks almost offended. “We are not on any side of humanities battles.”
“You like their military regalia.”
“I don’t. Those in charge think it’s pretty.” Satan rolls his eyes. “One part of hell is under strict authority, and another is nearly pure anarchy.”
“Anarchy with demons must get interesting.” MC tries not to giggle. “I have the image of Demons fighting to create and making utter chaos.”
“You’re close, just throw in some packs working together, and rogues wandering around the city trying to push their chaos were ever. The principles of anarchy aren’t too bad, actually. I’ve read the literature, but in practice with magic beings, too many hot heads can ruin it for the rest.”
“There’s so many rules in Heaven,” MC sighs and rocks their head back. “Anarchy sounds terrifying, but also refreshing? If that makes sense.”
“It does,” Satan nods. “What sort of rules does heaven have?”
“Well, the rules of angels and people are different.” Satan nods instead of saying, Obviously. “For angels, we literally have a mandated outfit. Can’t wear anything but the one holy look. We cannot stray remotely close to any sins, and must keep peace at all times. Which isn’t difficult with 1000 of human souls all wanting their own ideal conflicting paradise.” MC tenses with the anger, and then lets it slide out. “Sorry about that-”
“Don’t apologize,” Satan squeezes the Angel’s arm a little. “You got more than the right to be annoyed with such treatment. Speak what you feel.” MC looks up at Satan with bright eyes.
“If I have to sing in another chores for God, I will scream.”
“You should! Screaming is cathartic.” The talk the whole way to the museum and through it. Both have more than enough to say, and genuinely want to hear the other. Satan has carefully made opinions and seems to be educated in every topic under the sun. The Niches of thing MC thinks of Satan can keep up with. He also seems to have causes at least half of the wars which destroyed the artifacts now on display. “Alexander was rather easy to manipulate,” Satan hums. “Just had to bat my eyes at him and ask if that’s what he really wanted. He would be up for anything after that.” Satan can’t keep back his mischievous grin.
“Did you… Seduce Alexander the Great?”
“And helped kill him.” Satan smiles proudly. “He was an asshole, but fun to play with it.” Now Satan looks off with a distance in his eyes. Clearly lost in the past, where he could saunter about Rome. Arm and Arm with a brutal conquer.
“How often do you accompany brutal killers?” MC asks with a sharp look.
“This is where our working on opposite sides could come to a point,” Satan chuckles. “I am the avatar of wrath. I accompany most of the greatest killers. Push them to indulge just a bit more. If not me, one of my many underlings is probably there.”
“Funny,” MC says with a rather serious face. “I haven’t been given a title yet, but I spent the last century working with the angels in the peace department.”
“Oh that is some hard work,” Satan looks over to the Angel. MC had been prepared for Satan to look annoyed, but instead he looked more impressed. “Humans are so easy to manipulate with their emotions. Peace is going against their instincts.” By now, Satan and MC had entered the museum. Other demons milled about. Quickly commenting on the pieces of history elegantly on display. The explanations that come with each piece are at best wordy paragraphs. At worst, there is an essay attached. MC is saved from any reading by having Satan in toe. He knows all the information backwards and forwards, and the fact he’s more curious about the Angel. Saves MC from having to sit through lecture after lecture. Satan pauses to breath, and to hear the Angel’s own thoughts.
----- Rest of the museum date will be finished if people show interest in it.
A/N: Thank you for reading! If you have any requests for what Angel MC get’s up to feel free to ask! If people actually like this I’ll writing more parts consistently. If not more will just come as I feel like it.

This episode was so rough to listen to but after ruminating on it for a day I liked so much about it more and more
The smiting arc was heading somewhere, but we couldn’t tell where at first.  I was dreading a “fighting back against those who hurt you makes you as bad as them” arc a la the white male video game writer favorite, but that doesn’t seem Jonny’s style so was hoping SO MUCH against it
But at the same time Jon is practically a god walking around with all this power.  Him freely and recklessly smiting everyone like Martin was encouraging at first just wouldn’t make for the level of narrative tension a story needs--unless it’s a “Jon descends into monsterhood” story, which would be redundant with season 4, and again that tired old “fighting back makes you as bad as them” trope.  It would also be bizarre to have season 4′s struggle against monsterhood be about hurting innocents, only to have Jon fall to it in season 5 by fighting back against those who hurt him.
TMA 169 struck a balance that makes me very optimistic.  If you look at Jon’s relationship to his power as a whole in season 5, there is SO MUCH to be proud of him for.  How many stories have we heard where a hero gets some massive unlimited power, and then goes off the deep end with a god complex?  Half of the time ignoring the protests of concerned friends trying to hold them back?  Here, Jon is near-omniscient and can destroy even immortal beings with a thought, and has so, so many people who have wronged him.  He also has a man who he loves and trusts more than anyone in the world giving him the go-ahead and encouraging him towards it!
The only person who is holding Jon back from that approach is...Jon.  There isn’t a single person in the world who would judge him for it.  There’s no “if you take another victim I’ll kill you” threat hanging over his head.  This is him resisting, this is him trying to be careful with his power despite being given the green light.
Let’s look at each point on this arc so far:
- Jon reflexively, emotionally kills the Not!Sasha and feels horrible about it.
- Jon is encouraged to kill Oliver, but refuses, noting that Oliver was dragged into it as much as him and simply “being an avatar” isn’t enough to merit smiting.  Jon realizes that killing Oliver would be hypocritical.
- Jon comes across the perfect example for someone 100% smitable: cruel before and after avatarhood, thrives on raw, pointless suffering, completely unabashedly monstrous through and through.
- Jon stated that Martin’s safety was more important than his revenge, and that he’d be willing to give it up if Martin wasn’t comfortable
- He spends probably too much time beforehand giving Jude loopholes and double-checking her motives instead of just running in and killing her.
- He doesn’t seem happy about it.  Martin agreed to suffer for it.  It didn’t help the victims.
This is putting us in the perfect place for them to have a long-awaited conversation about how to fight back.  If the system of suffering is still in place, is revenge going to do them any good?  How does this affect their current quest to kill Elias?  How does Martin feel about the “avenging angel” approach now?
It’s still early to say for sure, but I don’t see the “slippery slope falling to the dark side” moment that some people may take away from TMA 169, but rather a perfect set-up for an emphasis on dismantling systems and helping victims rather than spending themselves on a Kill Bill quest.

Let’s talk about DiaLuci.
Look, this isn’t a judgement call. This is merely a flat out explanation and something that should be recognized. There will be a few S2-3 spoilers, but it’s mainly vague, not going into details.
Be aware: This covers sensitive topics regarding the ship, toxic behaviors, abusive relationships, and the angel event.
Firstly, if you support DiaLuci, good for you! I’m not here to shame someone for their ships. But this fandom has a habit of attacking others who aren’t so fond of this ship. Someone can like Diavolo, and not support Dialuci. You can support Lucifer, and not like Dialuci. Or hell, you could dislike either/or both characters and fucking love the ship! No matter which character or ship you like or dislike, you are completely valid.
But this is a post, about the issues with the ship that I personally see, and why it should be more outspoken.
Now lets get to the point of the subject, shall we?
I fairly like Diavolo. He’s charming, joyous, and someone who would be the star of a party. Someone cheerful and bright. However, the way that this fandom persecutes anyone who doesn’t like Diavolo or feels uncomfortable around him is not ok.
In my opinion, Diavolo has shown signs of immature and insensitive behavior. I.e. the way he treats others like toys. Yes, he cares about them, but often doesn’t consider their feelings in things he considers ‘mere pranks.’ This may be because Barbatos constantly assures him that the future will be fine, since Barbatos can manipulate and choose timelines.
He wants the best for the people around him, but doesn’t exactly take criticism or resistance to his advances kindly. “Well duh, he’s a ruler!” So? Yes, he’s a ruler, but that doesn’t mean he should be inconsiderate about others around him. The fact that he disregards others opinions unless it fits his agenda, is a sign of his childishness.
Which means, that over time, Diavolo doesn’t hold much regard to his actions, as Barbatos is always there to catch him. Now that doesn’t mean he constantly is reckless. When it comes to official Devildom matters, Diavolo is an apt ruler, who makes decisions for the Devildom’s best interests.
The problem is, no one has told Diavolo about his less than savory behavior. Because they fear him, and fear the punishments he could inflict upon them. So I can’t really say that he’s a completely bad character.
He wants Lucifer to be his equal, and acknowledge the fact that Diavolo sees him as an equal. Diavolo’s lonely, and it’s explicitly stated as so. He envies the closeness the brothers have. So, he goes about it in the only way he knows how. Which we’ll get to a bit later.
As for Lucifer, I can’t deny I’m quite fond of him. He does his best to overcome his pride for MC, and gradually (in S2-3), he becomes more open with his feelings. Yes, he’s a deeply flawed character, but he’s not a complete villain. The world simply isn’t as black and white as some would like it to be.
Yes, his relationship with some of his brothers is toxic. The way he treats Mammon at times is unacceptable, and possibly abusive in my opinion. The fact that he acts cold and distant to his brothers at times isn’t ok. But one thing I’ve seen others overlook, is that Lucifer is the Avatar of Pride. Does this excuse his actions? No. Does it explain some of his habits? Yes.
Don’t get me wrong, he still has a lot to work on. But he’s getting there, and actively trying to get better.
Now for the ship.
You do not need to like a ship, just because a character from that ship is constantly seen with the partner. Like I’ve said above, you can hate or love Diavolo or Lucifer, and dislike/like the ship.
As for the oath, I won’t delve too deep into this, as it would take essays upon essays worth of information. But we all know that, Diavolo had given Lucifer an ultimatum. Save Lilith, at the cost of Lucifer’s unquestionable loyalty.
Which as we’ve seen, Lucifer had agreed to the terms. And so, he is now Diavolo’s most trusted advisor, his right hand man.
Even though Diavolo says or implies that he sees Lucifer as an equal. He doesn’t always seem to show it. The power imbalance in between both characters is evident, throughout the plot of the story. If Lucifer denies Diavolo’s advances, Diavolo will continue. Why?
Well, you could argue that his behavior is due to him being royalty. Which is true, he’s royalty, and has never been told no. Barbatos has always been there, fixing his mess, so why would he need to worry?
Diavolo praises Lucifer, in a manner that is clearly uncomfortable to the latter. It’s evident that Lucifer despises being praised for his beauty, and just his looks. I’ve seen blogs see it as ‘just a joke’ or ‘being playful’. But time and time again, Lucifer has denied these advances, very obviously disliking the attention and focus on his looks.
But Diavolo continues, and in his defense, you could say, ‘because Lucifer doesn’t say that he’s uncomfortable!’. It’s very obvious that Lucifer isn’t an equal to Diavolo, no matter how much the latter insists he is. We’ve seen Diavolo brush off other’s discomfort at his actions, and we’ve seen him continue.
Diavolo is not evil. This is quite clear, even though he may be suspicious to some. However, his relationship tactics and methods of relationships have toxic, and quite possibly abusive effects.
For example. The angel event.
We all know, that the bangles controlled the 7 avatars, turning them all into angels. Their outfits, and minds, were taken over. The brothers, (excluding Satan.) had gone through traumatic events in these outfits, that’s for sure.
The celestial war, and losing Lilith, all were incredibly traumatizing events forever affecting their mindsets from that day forward. The bangles attempted to brain wash them, and we can see it when Satan states that he doesn’t feel like himself, that he felt calm.
But you might think, “But being calm is great! Isn’t that what he always wantd?’. Not quite.. All Satan had known before was wrath, and being calm completely took away an important part of him. Even though Satan had always resented his wrath, his sin, he had felt like a part of himself was miserable without it. He wasn’t himself, and felt as if he were being forced to be calm, something he loathes.
In all of the brothers, we can see that they are clearly distressed, and may come out of this situation traumatized.
Lucifer is no exception. We saw how visibly upset he was, the fact that the snow-white wings on his back gave him a constant reminder of the war and Lilith, throughout the entire ordeal.
What was Diavolo doing this entire time? He was being provided entertainment, and reveled the sight before him. He enjoyed seeing the brothers in their angelic uniforms, where they had fought with tooth and nail for their sister, and who knows what else. He enjoyed the fact that the brothers were having angelic ideals forced inside their heads.
And when someone speaks up against him? He’s passive aggressive about it, until the person opposing him gives up, begs for forgiveness, or embarrasses themselves.
While criticism of any of the characters is deemed valid and peachy in this fandom. I haven’t seen any criticism of Diavolo that wasn’t met with backlash and intense hounding. Lucifer, Satan, Belphegor, have all been criticized, but has the majority really deemed those opinions as invalid? No. We can all see why those arguments are valid, and people have their own reasons.
Hell, we’ve all seen people Lucifer left and right. And you know what? They’re completely valid! Some people may have triggers/squicks in regards to his behavior, and it’s completely understandable.
But the moment someone criticized Diavolo, we see fighting and targeting. The person who speaks up gets pushed down and insulted, until they either give up, or agree. If you like Diavolo, good for you, you’re valid! If you don’t, you’re completely valid!
Now back to the ship. Apologies for getting off topic, but oftentimes, when Diavolo and Lucifer are mentioned separately, they’re roped together.
Abusive/toxic relationships aren’t always one where the abusive/toxic partner is an outright terrible person. Oftentimes, they come with charm, a dazzling smile, and friends that would fight tooth and nail for them.
Diavolo has Lucifer in an....uncomfortable position to say the least. In power dynamics, that is. Lucifer is constantly embarrassed publicly and privately by compliments, and Diavolo knows this. He’s demeaned by the oath, and as for work, Diavolo often adds to it, just for fun. I.e, leaving the Devildom to come to the human world, leaving his responsibilities behind.
“But he’s lonely!” Yes, and? He is lonely, yes, but there is a time and place for fun, and time and place for work. He is going to become a King, and if he puts all this responsibility and stress on Lucifer, it simply isn’t right.
They have their good moments, but that absolutely does not make up for the state of the relationship as a whole. Just because someone has their good moments, doesn’t mean you accept and forgive them. That’s like saying that someone who physically abuses their S/O, is a good partner because they occasionally make them dinner. It simply isn’t correct.
Majority of the time, Diavolo is fine with Lucifer being reduced to a pretty face and belittled. In public, which very clearly hurts Lucifer’s pride and reputation.
Many people can resonate with some of these behaviors, having seen them in their past.
So please. Tag your works as DiaLuci for others uncomfortable with it, stop attacking others who dislike the ship, and for fucks sake, enough with hating people who dislike a character and/or ship.

Us.
hey there. It’s the seven rings fanfic I asked about on my blog. here it is.
Obey me (demon brothers) x reader - Fluff, pining, flustered/ frustrated boios, some steam, cuddles.
Some things are left unspoken. They’re universal constants that make sense to adults. Among such things are: nodding at strangers even though they are indeed strangers, slapping bags of flour at bulk stores, and the relationship between (y/n) and the seven demon brothers.
There’s no official name for what they have, no exact title. Who are they to (y/n)? Lovers? Friends? Enemies? The answer is different based on who you ask.
“Who is (y/n) to you?” many question.
“Ya, we’re friends, I guess...I was their first though.” Mammon will say, rubbing his shoulder where their lips had lingered that morning.
“Fellow otaku.” Leviathan will shrug, looking off into the distance and thinking of his head laying against their chest.
“A kindred spirit.” Satan nods sagely, knowing they were just in his lap minutes prior.
“A beauty to compliment my own!” Asmodeus coos, the tips of his fingers pressed to his cheek where the scent of their body spray lingers.
“....” Beel remains silent, but smiles warmly at the thought of how he had held them last night.
“Partner in crime, easy.” Belphegor chuckles, tilting his head slightly and letting his mind wander to the secret pillow fort in the attic.
Lucifer never answers the question, but a ghostly blush haunts his cheeks as he turns and walks away.
In the back of their minds, they all agree on one thing: (y/n) is theirs. The warmth shared with their little human lingering throughout their day. There’s no title, yet, but there are real tangible feelings. The demon brothers would gladly accept the hand of the human, if they offered. But now? They simply wait and choose not to make assumptions about anything. The human realm, where their (y/n) often is, holds possibilities which haunt and alarm the brothers.
“Did you see it?”
“Of course I saw it, why do you think I called this meeting??”
The dinner table is silent as Asmodeus bounces nervously in his seat. Lucifer, who had frantically texted for the others to come to the dining room, paces himself into a frenzy.
“ugh, what’s this about?” Leviathan grumbles, rubbing his eye with a frown, “I was busy...”
“I have a picture,” Asmo huffs, “(y/n) sent it to me...May I?”
“Go ahead.” Lucifer growls, brow furrowed. Asmodeus fiddles with his D.D.D and sends something to the brother’s group chat. Mammon, the first to open the image, nearly screams.
The image is of (y/n)’s lovely hand, the left one specifically. And wrapped around their ring finger is a stacked set of thin bands. Rings, thin, beautiful, and interlocking rings. The one closest to the knuckle is a deep black in nature, a dark blue sapphire set into the metal. The second is a brilliant gold, several white diamonds pressed into the band. Third place is a lovely silver, three lolite gems glistening from the band. Fourth is black, much like the first, but has a beautiful oval emerald set into it. Fifth is a rose gold, little spinel gems lining the entire band. Sixth is a dusty bronze, two imperial topaz gems pressed into the metal. And finally, the seventh ring is a blueish-black metal with small flecks of lapis lazuli in it.
“What??” Mammon snarls, taking off his sunglasses to better see the image in front of him, “Please don’t tell me this is...what I think it is...”
“An...engagement ring?” Beel mutters, frowning. Belphegor places a hand on his twin’s arm, able to sense the anguish. His eyebrows knit together, the tallest brother looking around in distress.
“We don’t know that,” Lucifer barks, whole body shaking as he looks down at his own phone. The other brothers are glued to their own devices, shaking in their own emotional turmoil.
“Is....(y/n) leaving-....” Leviathan stops himself from saying the word they’d all been avoiding. Satan grips the table, eyes locked onto the wall opposite of him while Asmodeus lets out a small sob.
Us.
Is (y/n) leaving us.
“We can’t know this all for sure,” Belphegor adds, one hand carefully rubbing Beelzebub’s shoulder as he looks around the room, “We haven’t heard the whole story...Maybe this is just a misunderstanding?”
“I...I agree with Belphegor,” Satan nods, the others slowly winding down from their defensive posture. Lucifer blinks slowly, placing his hands on the table and nodding slowly.
“I asked Diavolo for their return,” the eldest brother admits, lip pouted just slightly, “He has allowed it. (y/n) will be staying with us this weekend. We can get our answers then.” The group falls silent, each of lost in their own plans for (y/n)’s return.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Stepping up to the House of Lamentation, (y/n) carefully produces their house key from their pocket. A warm jacket wraps around their frame, shielding them from the chilly wind whistling by. The door opens, the entrance hall smelling of cologne and roses. The beauty steps inside, closing the door and hanging up their jacket on the rack to the left of the door.
“Ah, hello there,” Lucifer’s voice rumbles from behind the human as their back is turned to the entrance hall. Spinning to look at him, (y/n)’s beautiful eyes light up in delight, their feet moving quickly as they trot up to the stormy man.
“Luci!” they coo, eyes crinkling as they grin at him. The demon smiles, reassured by the nickname as he carefully takes (y/n)’s left hand, pressing a loving kiss to their knuckles. Crimson eyes glimmer as Lucifer tenderly presses his lips to the human’s hand ever-so-gently.
“It has been too long, my dear,” Lucifer grins devilishly, still holding (y/n)’s hand, “What have you been up to? Trouble, I can only imagine.” The eldest brother gives a quick wink, guiding (y/n)’s hand to hold onto his right arm. Confused, the human flushes deeply but accepts Lucifer’s affection nonetheless. Picking up their bag, Lucifer guides his beloved off to their room.
--------------------------------------------------------------
“Knock knock!” Asmodeus giggles, entering (y/n)’s room uninvited. The aforementioned human blushes, sitting on the edge of their bed in a pair of old pajamas. The lusty demon shuts the door behind him, kneeling down and laying his arms and head on (y/n)’s lap.
“Well hello there,” (y/n) giggles, petting Asmo’s head gently, meeting the beautiful eyes of the demon, “nice to see you too, Momo.” The demon smiles and stares up at his lover.
“I missed you,” Asmodeus mumbles, soft lip hidden behind his arms as he cradles his own head. He stares for just a moment before shifting, holding onto (y/n)’s knees with his soft, delicate hands. Pushing their legs apart, the demon slowly stands, hovering over (y/n). Eyelashes fluttering as he worms his way between his lover’s legs as he hovers over them. Falling back against the bed with a gasp, (y/n) stares up at Asmo’s beautiful face, watching him lean in and brush his soft lips against theirs.
“tell me...” Asmo whispers, determined to get answers, determined to know why the rings have appeared, determined to-
“Dinner time!” A voice, most likely Mammon’s, calls from outside the room. Causing Asmodeus to curse softly under his breath.
Answers must wait.
-------------------------------------------------------------
It’s strange, how this happened.
The twins asking to go up to the attic together, them closing the door behind themselves, the trio now being locked in the attic.
Dinner, as wonderful as always, had finished about thirty minutes prior to the trio being locked in the attic. Belphegor calmly sits by the bed, acutely sensitive to the war raging in his brother’s head. (y/n) fiddles with the door, frowning and pouting softly.
“Come sit,” Belphegor offers, patting the bed gently. But the human doesn’t move, their eyes flicking to the stairway as they frantically try to open the door.
“We have to get out, Belphie,” (y/n) huffs, shaking the door fruitlessly, “I don’t wanna be trapped up here.” Beel walks over, hands grabbing onto (y/n)’s hips and picking them up effortlessly. The giant man tosses the comparatively smaller entity onto the bed effortlessly.
“Someone will come up for us, we have our D.D.D.’s,” Beel rumbles, standing at the foot of the bed with a furrowed brow. Belphegor stands, watching his brother curiously.
Pain, ache, need, betrayal, and hunger glow in the gluttony avatar’s eyes as he stares down their human companion. Belphie can see, by the way his brother’s jaw clenches, his arms tense, and his body trembles, the struggle in his very soul. Granted, the same feelings stir in Belphegor’s chest, though far more....
Knifey would be a good word.
“What the hell has gotten into you two?” (y/n) gasps, sitting up and focusing on Beelzebub. The taller twin growls, grabbing (y/n) by the jaw and staring down at them. His skin is burning hot as he stares down, jacket abandoned in his room about an hour prior. Belphegor smiles, coming up behind the human and wrapping his arms around their waist.
“Shhhh,” Belphie smiles, nibbling on (y/n)’s ear gently, “We missed you, sweetheart...” Beel huffs, dragging his thumb along (y/n)’s lower lip, freezing as they bring up their left hand to hold onto his wrist.
“Where did you get it,” Beel growls, a statement rather than a question.
“Get wha-”
“Hey! How’d you guys get locked in there?”
----------------------------------------------
Mammon gently massages his head, pouting a tad as (y/n) snuggles up on the couch in his room.
“I dunno why he had to hit me,” Mammon huffs, pressing the ice pack to his skull and laying down on the couch, head nearly in his partner’s lap.
“Beel’s just in a mood,” (y/n) shrugs, reaching down to gently trace their fingers along his jaw. He falls silent, the second eldest brother has his eyes closed and the top of his head pressed to (y/n)’s thigh.
“Hey,” the tanned man mumbles, blushing, “I gotta tell you something, so clean the fluff out of your ears.” (y/n) chuckles, still petting the demon’s cheek gently.
“Alright, I’m all yours,” they hum, the room seemingly getting dimmer as the duo lounge together. Mammon blushes violently, using one hand to gently itch his cheek, trying to play off his blush.
“....It’s okay if you don’t wanna....be with...” there’s the word again, that little one-syllable word that haunts seven of the Devildom’s most powerful demons. Mammon chokes for a moment before squeezing his eyes shut. “B-Be with...us...” (y/n) chuckles, surprising the demon as they lean over their beloved.
“Oh Mammon, you know I’d n-”
knock knock knock
-----------------------------------------------------
“A A A A A A A A A”
Leviathan wails, his arms wrapped around (y/n)’s torso as he races down the hallway. The human leans partly over his shoulder, their diaphragm pressed to his chest as they watch the halls fly past. Thundering footsteps race after the duo as Levi races to his room. Mammon’s voice shouts after them incoherently, his speed impaired by the blow to the head gifted by (1) Beelzebub.
Speeding into his room, Leviathan chuckles deviously and locks the door. Of course, that’s when (y/n) notices...the room itself...
Flower petals litter the floor, the smell of cherry blossom lingering in the air. Several cases of a particularly long anime series sit by the tv, the title plain as day: Ningen to dēto suru akuma. An anime about...what appears to be several demons trying to marry a human.
“Who would watch that?” (y/n) thinks to themselves, walking around the room curiously.
“Ahem,” Leviathan clears his throat, nervously adjusting his Ruri-chan figurines. He’s carefully groomed from head to toe, hair tossed in a new way and skin smelling of the same blossoms that litter the floor.
“Is everything okay?” (y/n) walks up close, reaching out to grab his arm. Levi blushes, trying his best to avert his eyes.
“(y/n) please don’t go,” Levi blurts, face flushed and body trembling as he wrings his hands. Confusion floods the human’s chest as they blink, alarmed at the outburst.
“What?” (y/n) squeaks, “What has gotten into everyone?” Levi opens his mouth to reply, words catching in his throat as he grabs at his human partner. Giving up on speaking, the demon settles for a sloppy, awkward kiss. Teeth bumping together and hands trembling as they grip each other.
---------------------------------------
It took a while to free themselves, but (y/n) did indeed escape from Leviathan’s room. Their body now a tad shakier than before as they pad down the dark hallway. A breeze chills their neck where, surely, a mark is forming from the overexcited demon.
“Ah, (y/n),” Satan hums, poking his head out of the library, “Come in come in, I haven’t seen much of you.” Seeming to be the most normal of the seven, Satan peers over a pair of reading glasses at the young human. They nod, sliding into the library with Satan, enjoying the smell of the fireplace and leather books.
“Thanks,” The human hums, sitting down on a leather couch and relaxing.
“You seem upset,” Satan hums, carefully reshelving a stack of books.
“Everyone seems....upset...” (y/n) sighs, frowning a bit, “I don’t know what’s wrong.”  The Avatar of Wrath seems to deflate slightly, his shoulders sagging ever-so-slightly.
“Of course...” he sighs, moving over and picking up a large soft blanket. Satan sits down, covering himself and the human with the blanket.
“I hope everyone calms down in a bit,” (y/n) sighs, leaning against Satan’s side as he cracks open an ancient tome. The duo melt into each other, enjoying the smell of patchouli and leather.
“They will, sweetie, they will...”
----------------------------------------
The breakfast table is awkward, the seven demons each stealing glances at the sleepy-looking human.
“So,” Lucifer hums, sipping his coffee and staring holes into the side of (y/n)’s hand, “Who is it.” The demons freeze, their delicate lifestyle of dancing just outside of confrontation having been smashed over a side of eggs.
“Who is who?” (y/n) looks up, confused and a tad alarmed at the sudden tense atmosphere.
“Don’t act innocent,” Lucifer growls, eyes burning with some sort of hidden rage, “We can all see the rings.” The air grows thick, the pained silence wrapping around the throats of the dining table occupants.
“Lucifer...” Mammon gives a small warning mumble, not wanting to sit through the chaos. Pain and nervousness gripping the hearts of the group.
“No. We must know.” Lucifer snarls, standing up and radiating a pulsating aura. A dangerous miasma. “Who is it? We’re not just your pactmates, (y/n), not anymore. You know that! You are aware that you’re not just our friend. You’ve been by our sides, you’ve seen us at our worst and best, you’ve....you’ve....” He pauses for a moment, the ghostly blush finally creeping over his cheekbones.
The group leans in a bit, anxious to hear what Lucifer has to say.
“You’ve...slept in our beds.....” Lucifer finishes, knowing there may be some backlash to revealing the more intimate details of the group’s relationship with their human. If they hadn’t been blushing before, the more stern demons flush violently at the reveal of their activities with (y/n).
“...yes,” Asmodeus chimes in, strangely sober despite his beautiful airy appearance, “I.... I can’t say that...I’m not curious. I...kinda thought what we had with you was special, (y/n). So why the rings? Who have you found that’s...meant to replace...us...”
Silence.
A pin drop may sound like an atomic bomb at this point as the group sits at the dinner table, meals cold by now.
Then, softly at first, (y/n) giggles. The laughter grows into a almost room shaking sound, little snorts and snickers breaking up the fit of giggles. Somehow, the demons blush more, their eyes looking around to see if this was normal in any way.
“Oh my...” (y/n) giggles, wiping away a tear and giggling, “you guys are ridiculous... these rings represent you” the group grows confused, gathering around their human companion to see the rings closer.
“Us?” Leviathan mumbles.
“Yep! I had them commissioned to represent each of you,” (y/n) begins to explain, “Each band represents one brother. One pact. One partner. I got them so I could have something to look at and...remind me of you, yknow?”
“Us.” Beel hums, eyes a tad watery.
Lucifer smiles, carefully leaning over his small human partner.
“I think...that’s a lot better than what we thought,” The eldest brother smiles and leans down to press a kiss to (y/n)’s cheek, “just...let us know next time. You had us worried.” The group nods in agreement, growing a tad worried at (y/n)’s expression.
“And miss out on all of your soft jealous love?” (y/n) smirks, winking at the group, “Never.”
Finally, after nearly twenty-four continuous hours, the pain and nervousness hovering over the House of Lamentation lifts. The demons inside finally calm and collected.
Because finally,
“It’s about us.”

Gen and Sapphic ATLA Fic Recs
I’ve been meaning for some time to put together a list of fics focused on under-appreciated characters, relationships, and pairings, and here it finally is! Split into gen and sapphic pairs, including some rarepairs, rangshi, mailee, yueki. I’ve mentioned just one story from each author for brevity's sake, but plenty of these writers have many awesome atla fics to check out
general, character studies, and worldbuilding
The Hand of Kyoshi by TehRaincoat, 23,000+ words
MY FAVORITE SUKI FIC. You want in-depth, culturally appropriate worldbuilding of Kyoshi Island? Suki’s fleshed out backstory? Maybe a look into her relationship with her mother and how she became the leader of the Kyoshi warriors at such a young age? This is it. This is IT.
you were never supposed to leave by windupclock, 2500+ words
Exploration of Sokka and Kya’s relationship and Sokka’s grief. This fic makes me want to punch a wall. I love it. I hate it. It’s incredible and you should read it.
you are any way the wind blows by suzukiblu, 1000+ words
Beautifully written fic about secret airbender ty lee. I think about this story all the time.
to hold the breeze by purplecresent, 4000+ words
“tiny vignettes about aang's tattoos, his culture, and those who love him”. This story is beautiful, and heartbreaking, and so loving. My favorite Aang fic.
(many more below the cut)
Encounters of a Swampy Kind by meetmeatthecottage, 1000+
Aang meets Ikki in the Swamp. Pretty sure I cried reading this. As ya do :’)
Long Long Time Ago by Lisse,  2000+ words
One of my absolute fave fics. The story features great OCs, worldbuilding, and Haru. It is part of a series called “Swampverse” that features an alt-universe where the war went differently (badly). Short series, worth reading all of it. I’m always in awe that this was published waaaay back in 2006. Cw for heavy subject matter, including some mentions of violence.
Sands of Time by starsofgems, 64,000+ words
OH MAN. THIS STORY. IS. INCREDIBLE. Features amazing worldbuilding focused on the sandbenders, Toph and Zuko friendship, and the story of Avatar Yangchen and her girlfriend! Many moving parts, yet it all works together perfectly. Part of a larger series but I did jump into this without reading the previous parts and could follow the plot without trouble.
a tale I know well by undergrounddash, 6500+ words
My favorite ‘Zuko making amends and getting to know the gaang’ fic! Set at the Western Air Temple, Zuko reads a story to Toph, which becomes Zuko reading a story to everyone.
rarepairs
Tide Locked by ambyr, 9000+ words
One of my all time favorites. A beautifully written story about Kanna and Hama, and how war changes people.  If you’re at all interested in either of their characters, it is a must read.
The Eyeliner Incident by spacemagic, 14,000+ words
I can’t say I’m a Katazula fan, but this breaks the mold for me! Canon-divergent modern AU set in Ba Sing Se, wonderfully written, delves into serious themes, and all the characters are wonderfully written!
Rangshi!!!
all i ever wanted was a life in your shape by axsun, +3000 words
It’s sweet but not just sweet, ya know? Kyoshi and Rangi are so true to character. Somehow the author manages to pack in excellent modern worldbuilding in a little over 3000 words. Incredible, must read. (It is part 2 of a previous story which is also wonderful.)
come back with gravity by frutescence, 7500+ words
THEE Rangi fic of all time. Her relationship with her father is fleshed out beautifully and heartbreakingly −  all Rangi’s relationships are explored so well. So so good!!!!!
Steel, Moon, and Fire by rivensilk, 3000+ words
A tag for this fic is “rangi is an assassin but still harps on about her honor”, what more can i say? What’s not to love???
where we go for each other, we go together by city_of_suns, 2000+ words
GOD. I think it was one of the first rangshi fics i ever read and it cuts me deep every time. Fic summary is “In which Koko grows up idealizing one mother and being raised by the other”. Yeah. YEAH.
Mailee time!
to the moon and to saturn by wearealltalesintheend, 10,000+ words
Mai centric mailee story!! Love love love the exploration of Mai, it has a cool plot, great structuring, and JUNE makes an appearance <3
bad girls by airnomadenthusiast, 11,500+ words
So this is mailee but it’s also just the atla girls all together having a good time! They start a band! It’s hilarious and heartwarming, a great feel good story along with the cute mailee.
the language of flowers (aka- how you get the girl) by i_love_your_light, 3000+ words
I am not immune to flowershop fics and if you aren’t either, this is for you! It’s inspired by the tumblr post about saying 'fuck you' in flower, and if that doesn’t scream mailee idk what does
second star to the right and straight on 'til morning by whattheelizabeth, 11,500+ words
MAILEE ROAD TRIP FIC. It’s cute, it’s fun, it’s sweet, and at times it’s hilarious. LOTS of pinning but they figure themselves out eventually :)
hello yueki nation
A Tale of Love Letters and International Incidents by theknightlybisexual, 4000+ words
Another favorite! Chief Yue and Captain of the Kyoshi Warriors Suki become friends while exchanging letters. It's a great take on their leadership roles post-canon, and its SUCH a fun read; I laughed out loud so many times.
moonstruck by zeitgeistofnow, 1000+
Also explores Yue and Suki's leadership roles post-canon. It's beautiful! And it kinda hurts! And I love it!

Van Zieks - the Examination, part 12
Warnings: SPOILERS for The Great Ace Attorney: Chronicles. Additional warning for racist sentiments uttered by fictional characters (and screencaps to show these sentiments).
Disclaimer: (see Part 1 for the more detailed disclaimer.) - These posts are not meant to be taken as fact. Everything I’m outlining stems from my own views and experiences. If you believe that I’ve missed or misinterpreted something, please let me know so I can edit the post accordingly. -The purpose of these posts is an analysis, nothing more. Please do not come into these posts expecting me to either defend Barok van Zieks from haters, nor expecting me to encourage the hatred. - I’m using the Western release of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles for these posts, but may refer to the original Japanese dialogue of Dai Gyakuten Saiban if needed to compare what’s said. This also means I’m using the localized names and localized romanization of the names to stay consistent. -It doesn’t matter one bit to me whether you like Barok van Zieks or dislike him. However, I will ask that everyone who comments refrains from attacking real, actual people.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11
Let's bring this thing home! It's time for the conclusion of the essay series!
Conclusion With a stupidly long essay series behind us, it's time to look at what we've learned! Let's go back to Part 1 and review what we needed from Van Zieks's character development for a fully rounded redemption arc, shall we?
1) Present an antagonistic (possibly immoral) force who personifies Ryunosuke’s biggest personal obstacle/weakness, in this case racial prejudice. 2) Humanizing traits begin to show. OPTIONAL: A backstory to justify any immorality he has. 3) Over time, Barok has his realization and sees the error of his ways. 4) Barok atones for his immorality, not simply through apology but by taking decisive steps. 5) The cast around him acknowledges his efforts and forgives him.
And looking at the main game (plus additional dialogue), we have...
1) Antagonistic force:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Etc. etc. I have many of these. We can all agree that as an antagonistic force, he does his job quite well. CEO of Racism and White Privilege in the flesh. It works, since we as the audience get very frustrated and want to see him defeated.
2) Humanization:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Giving him an old friend to be a defendant was a brilliant move, really. Albert's reflection on the friendship and the person Van Zieks used to be really helped flesh him out and make him appear more like a human being with, y'know, emotions and weaknesses. The little snippets of dialogue in his office really help too. Presenting evidence can also lead to fun tidbits. All in all, considering how gruff and distant Van Zieks is, they really did their very best to humanize him. The writers were given very little to work with but they exploited every opportunity to come their way.
OPTIONAL backstory:

Again, I don't think we needed a tragic backstory to have a well-rounded, redeemable character. Still, it ties in very expertly to the game's plot and the motivations of quite a few other characters. The story of Klint van Zieks and his death isn't necessarily Barok van Zieks's backstory, it's the center of an intricate web which also holds Kazuma, Stronghart, Gregson, Jigoku, (S)Holmes, Mikotoba, Sithe, Drebber- I could go on. A LOT. So because of how very integrated it is into the main narrative's recurring themes and characters, I'll give it props for being relevant and well thought out. The bigger question is: Does it justify his immorality? Not entirely. I think the game could have gotten more out of this if they'd involved the other two exchange students in this tale just a bit more. They could have given more attention to how Jigoku's aggressive behavior in the trial impacted Van Zieks, and explained whether he might've suspected Mikotoba of sabotaging (S)Holmes's investigation. If the narrative had done that, all three Japanese people to come to London would have been ‘the bad guy’ in Van Zieks's eyes and it would have given more credence to his racial generalization. They could have also given more attention to how the people around him reacted to Genshin being the Professor, because I'm sure Stronghart and Gregson stoked the fire in terms of xenophobia. As it stands, there isn't really enough there to justify hatred of an entire race as opposed to just one person.
3) Realization/Redemption

We see him already start to realize the error of his ways around the end of 1-5, which is technically only about halfway into the full narrative. Unfortunately, thanks to 2-2 being played afterwards (but chronologically set before 1-5), any progress made in 1-5 can become invalidated in the player's eyes. Growth works best when it's done linear. Don't get me wrong, flashbacking to earlier times when a character is still more morally tainted can work well, but it needs to be executed properly. Barok's behavior in 2-2 is downright insulting towards the audience itself and therefore, it causes emotional friction when relaying the narrative endgoal of redemption. It also makes it extra jarring when we hit 2-3, and suddenly Van Zieks is meant to be relying on the protagonist's desire to expose the truth. How on earth can we as the audience trust that Van Zieks believes in Ryu's abilities when we just came fresh out of a case where this man actively sabotages Ryu's efforts?
Still, the line of redemption continues from 2-3 into 2-4 well enough. He admits that he was wrong- that his hatred was illogical and that he needs to change. This is the very definition of redemption. I need to stress once more this is not to be confused with atonement, which comes next.
4) Atonement

Here it is. It's not enough to simply acknowledge mistakes; one needs to work hard to fix them. Since Van Zieks is the defendant for two whole episodes, equaling roughly 20% of the full narrative and 67% of the time following his first true realization (chronologically), there isn't much that he can actively do to atone. Because remember, not only do these actions need to fit the situation he's currently in, they need to fit his personality. These two limitations ensure the atonement mostly takes the form of dialogue. Of apologies.
One might want to point out that he never apologizes specifically for his racism, but there's a reason for that. If you pay close attention, you'll notice that there isn't a single character who ever uses a word like “racism”, “xenophobia” or even “racial prejudice” in this game. It's for the same reason you'll never see an Ace Attorney character utter words like “alcoholism”, “drug abuse” or “depression”. These things may be implied very strongly, to the point where you'll know for certain a character is suffering from it, but it's never given these exact labels. It has to do with the tone of the game. In Great Ace Attorney's dialogue, Barok van Zieks is only ever described as holding “a deep hatred for Japanese”, which is then the only thing he could apologize for. And he does, so long as you aren't looking for a literal phrasing of “I apologize for my deep hatred of your people”.
Regardless, he can't take more active, decisive action until he's freed from prison and two scenes with Van Zieks later, the game has ended. He still manages to take two actions, though! The first is to publicize the truth of the Professor, taking the blame of the mass murders off Genshin's shoulders (and losing his own privilege in the process). The second is to take Kazuma under his wing as his disciple. I'm not certain there's anything else the narrative could have had him do. What is decisively missing, however, is the following:
5) Acknowledgment

The above aren't good examples of cast acknowledgment that Van Zieks is taking part in a redemption arc, rather, they're the best I could find. Characters are acknowledging that he's changing- that he's being kinder to them and they can get along with him now, but they're not acknowledging that he caused hurt in the first place. This, in my opinion, is the Great Ace Attorney's biggest narrative flaw. I've talked before about how Ryu's reaction to Van Zieks's racism is 'indirect communication', a typically Japanese manner of dealing with negativity. I've also talked about how Ryu is not in a position to speak up, as he's a literal minority who is there to represent his country in an official capacity and can’t afford to make enemies. However, characters like Susato and Kazuma are far more outspoken in their opinions, as is Soseki. The only one who ever calls Van Zieks out on his racism is the British judge, and even that is done very meekly. When an old crusty white guy is the one who condemns white privilege in a cast full of minorities, you've got a problem. The Japanese cast's refusal to acknowledge that Van Zieks's words were harmful is like Team Avatar telling Zuko that sure, he can join since he's a good guy now, but never once acknowledging that he burned down villages or betrayed everyone's trust in Ba Sing Se. There's something very vital missing, see? If indeed the cast had called Van Zieks out more actively on his harmful ways and how necessary it was for him to change, he in turn could have taken more atonement steps in response.
So, for the conclusion: Does Barok van Zieks tick all the necessary boxes for a complete redemption arc? Yes. In a very technical sense, all the requirements are there. But does that mean it's a successful arc? Not necessarily. The game has a few slip-ups, a few things not executed as well as they could have been. For that reason, whether the audience is satisfied with the arc is entirely up to them. Taking into consideration that they had to cram a whole lot of story into just two games- the second game in particular, I can acknowledge they did their very best with the limitations that were there.
And there we have it! That’s all I could think to say on the matter. I hope everyone who read this till the very end enjoyed it, maybe even learned a thing or two. I’m always open to questions, input and constructive criticism!
