Y/N Black had always been seen as the colder Black out of her and her two brothers and that was saying something especially considering her twin, Regulus.
Regulus and her had been close their whole lifes. Their eldest cousin Andromeda would say they were thick as thieves. Always doing everything together refusing to go or do anything without the other.
But after years of abuse from their partners and then it only getting worse when their older brother Sirius left she closed up, to the point of even icing Regulus out to an extent.
When Regulus made the choice to mend the bond between him and Sirius, Y/N made it clear that she wanted no part in it.
In Y/N’s eyes Sirius didn't care, he didn't love her. She knew he didn't. If he did, why would he leave them? Why would he leave her? Especially with those people.
Sirius had always protected Regulus and Y/N as much as he could. He would take punishment, sneak them food if they were forced to go without.
Eventually protecting them ment having Regulus go to The Potters with him when there was talk of an arranged marriage for Regulus.
Regulus left 12 Grimmauld Place during winter break in their 5th year, Y/N being left once again.
At that point she'd separated herself from everyone who'd cared for her, admittedly it was mostly her brothers but also the few friends she and Regulus shared.
Sirius had tried many times to talk to Y/N but she never budged, she'd rarely spare him a glance. He was shattered, Sirius felt as if he'd lost his baby sister.
Regulus took it worse not that he'd admit that to anyone who wasn't Sirius. He had hoped that she'd forgive them at some point and that she'd join them or at the very least understand why they left but she didn't.
Y/N wouldn't speak, look, or even be in the same room as Regulus if she could help it.
Regulus lost his twin, his other half, his life line and she didn't even seem to care.
But she did care she cared so fucking much.
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
Despite Y/N being cold and dark to those around her, she was smart.
Some would say smarter than Regulus, definitely smarter than Sirius.
So it came as no surprise to her when the summer between her 5th and 6th year Y/N got word that she was to join the 7th year potions class.
Honestly she didn't care, Walburga was as pleased as she could be and Orion unsurprisingly couldn't care less.
But that's how she found herself being in the potion class the year above and being assigned partners with her.
Lily Evans.
Y/N didn't know much about Lily other than she was friends with her brother and his friends, she was smart, a Gryffindor and muggle-born.
Now Y/N didn't care for blood statues. It never made sense to her, the hatred that so many purebloods held for half-bloods or muggle-borns.
It all seemed barbaric and honestly a waste of time.
So, no Y/N didn't care that she was partnered with someone who was a muggle-born.
She did care however that she was partnered with a friend of Sirius's. And it wasn't just a friend that he would see around and chat up with sometimes no, they were close friends.
This was going to be a problem.
“Hi, I’m Lily! Your Siris’ and Regs’ little sister right?”
Lily stuck out her hand for you to shake with one of the brightest smiles you think you've ever seen.
You simply roll your eyes and dismiss her hand shake.
“I prefer to be called by my name, Y/N, rather than being referred to as Sirius and Regulus' sister.”
Lily drops her hand and her smile falls just a tad, not enough for most people to notice, but you did.
“Of course. I'm sorry, truly.”
“It's fine Evans.”
You say coldly, giving your undivided attention to Slughorn.
The rest of class was spent taking notes mostly with Lily attempting to make small talk every so often. You ignored her for the rest of the class.
You knew Lily was only trying to be nice but you also knew she was only trying to be nice so she could bring up your brothers.
And talking about them was one of the last things you wanted to do.
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
Days started to pass turning into weeks, weeks turning into months.
You and Lily had been cordial.
You tried your best not to be completely rude to her since she always tried to make small talk and she was kind to you.
You actually grew quite fond of her over time but you didn't think that the two of you were friends by any means.
But you were acquaintances.
And you did like being in her presents.
It had been three months since school had started and Slughorn had announced that there was a project that was due in 2 weeks, right before christmas break would start and you were to work on it with your partner.
You sighed and looked to the side to see a smiling Lily.
You weren’t upset that you had to do a project with Lily considering she was very smart and you liked being around her, but you were upset knowing that you'd have to spend time with her after class and knowing that where she goes her friends were not far most of the time.
Which meant there was a possibility of seeing her friends, which meant a possibility of seeing Sirius and or Regulus more than you'd like.
“Okay Evans we’ll meet at the library after classes are done so we can just get this done. Please refrain from bringing your friends.”
Lily knew what you meant by that, you were asking her to keep Sirius and Regulus away from you.
Lily chuckled and shook her head.
“They go where they please.”
Translation. She couldn't stop either of them, more specifically Sirius, even if she wanted to.
“I see. I'll see you later Evans.”
You sigh once more gathering your things to walk away.
“Bye Y/N.”
It always caught you off guard when she would call you by your first name instead of your surname.
First names were meant for friends, yet she never called you Black.
She only ever called you Y/N, as if you were good friends.
You supposed that was just the type of person Lily was. She was nice to everyone unless they gave her a reason not to be.
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
After classes you find yourself entering the library. You were expecting to have to wait for Lily but to your surprise she beat you there.
You walk to the table she was occupying, setting your things down.
Once she notices you she looks up from her seat smiling at you.
She had a very beautiful smile, one that made you feel your heart skip a beat for a moment. But you chose to ignore the feeling, deciding, hoping, it meant nothing.
“How were your classes Y/N?”
Lily asked with genuine curiosity in her eyes.
Did she actually care? She couldn't possibly care about my day. No, she didn't care, she was just asking to be polite. That was all. You tried to convince yourself.
“It was fine… How about you?”
Lily then went on about her day. She told you her favorite thing she learned that day, a joke her friend Mary told her that made you actually crack a small smile.
You couldn't help but hold on to every word that came out of her mouth.
Without you even realizing it Lily talking was easily becoming your favorite part of the days that followed.
You spent every day that week meeting with Lily at the library and you realized you actually really liked spending time with her. She had managed to make you smile a few times which was a rare sight.
Lily had this light to her that you couldn't describe. She was just everything good in the world.
She was funny, smart, sweet, kind, beautiful and you wanted to spend every moment you could with her.
You realized as the weekend grew closer you wouldn't have a reason to see her for two days. That bothered you and you couldn't figure out why.
The two of you were working late in the back of the library. The library was practically empty.
“There's a Hufflepuff party tomorrow night. Are you going?”
“No. Parties aren't really something I enjoy. I’m assuming it’s safe to assume you're going?”
You say giving Lily a small smile.
“Yeah. We're all going… you should come.”
You knew what she meant. Sirius and most likely Regulus were going to be there.
Over the week of working with her she would make little suggestions now and then about seeing or talking to your brothers without blatantly saying so.
You just shook your head looking down at the table.
“I'm okay, thank you for the invitation.”
“Okay well, I'm going to Hogsmeade on sunday. Usually no one comes with me since they're all hungover. Would you like to join me?”
You felt yourself stop breathing. You didn't know why you felt this way.
It was just Lily, but you've never spent time with Lily outside of an academic setting.
Was this for the project? Or were you supposed to hang out as friends? Or was it.. More?
Did you want it to be more?
Before you have the chance to answer or contemplate further, your conversation was interrupted.
“Oi, Black! Three blood traitors wasn’t enough for your line? You decided to become one yourself?”
Avery said, making Mulciber laugh.
You look up at them about to get up but Lily grabs and squeezes your hand telling you to let it go.
So you did.
“Aww isn't that cute? You’re shagging the Mud-blood now? Merlin your whole family is full of a bunch of fuckin’ poof-”
Before he can finish his sentence you have him on the ground holding his nose. You felt what some people would refer to as ‘The Black Family Madness’ cloud your mind.
You thought it was just pure fucking anger, but what did you know?
You look down at Avery while having your wand pointing at Mulciber to keep him where he is, not showing any emotion on your face.
“I could kill you, you know? I could kill both of you. Make it look like self defense. ‘Oh i was so scared they cornered me and I- I didn't know what to do. I was scared for my life'.”
You say the last part in a mocking tone you then crouch in front of Avery looking him dead in the eyes.
“No one would even blink if you two died. Did you know that? I won't do it though because I refuse to risk myself being thrown in Azkaban. Especially for the likes of you, do you know why? It’s simple really, both of your lives put together don't even measure up to mine alone in terms of importance.”
You stand up straight looking at both of them.
“Now you're going to apologize to Evans for caller her such a vile and disgusting name, and if you don’t I will have a letter send to my mother by the end of the night about how I walked in on you two shoving your tongues down each other's throats and how I ‘just don't know what to do!’ and then we can see how your fathers react to just the idea of having ‘poofs’ inside they're line.”
You give them a small smirk while Avery and Mulciber look at each other debating if they're willing to have a rumor like that go around especially since it was a lie.
“And if you think my mother won't believe me. I reassure you, she will. Why would I lie? It wouldn’t benefit me as far as she's concerned and I am as close to a ‘perfect’ child as she'll ever get and if it comes out that the two of you might be shagging then the dirty looks get taken off The Black Family’ and move to The Mulcibers’ and The Averys’. So let's play this one smart boys.”
That seemed to convince Avery enough that he stands up and looks at Lily and forces out an ‘I’m sorry.’
Mulciber is a little more hesitant. You send a Stinging Jinx Mulcibers way, he falls to his knees with a small hiss and looks at Lily.
“I'm sorry Evans, really really sorry.”
Mulcibers cried out
“Now. You're both going to leave Evans alone. You are going to keep her name and both of my brothers' names out of your mouths. Am I understood?”
You say with no emotion on your face once again.
They both let out quiet ‘yes’s’ while scrambling to leave.
After the ‘Madness’ had cleared from your mind it hit you what you did. You didn't feel bad about what you did but you realize you did it all in front of Lily.
You don't even look at her as you start to gather your things.
“I’m sorry Evans, really. I-I should go.”
You ramble out while trying to walk away. Lily grabs your arm stopping you in your tracks.
“I won't lie and say I agree with what you did, but I don't blame you. I also appreciate you standing up for me. I'm not mad or scared of you Y/N.”
“I should have never done that in front of you. I'm sorry, really.”
“It's okay. I promise. Lets stop working tonight, yeah?”
You nod at Lily.
“Yeah. Okay”
“So about Hogsmeade?”
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
You were sitting by the entrance of Hogwarts looking down playing with the matching serpent ring that Regulus had got for you and him a few birthdays ago.
You've never taken it off.
You were just wearing some plain jeans and a jumper you had stolen from Sirius years ago. You find yourself wearing it when you think you might need moral support and you didn't know why but you felt a need to wear it today.
No matter how hurt you might be from your brothers leaving, you still loved them so much. You didn't necessarily blame them for leaving the house or the family, you just wish they were still with you.
You’re taken out of your thoughts when you hear footsteps coming your way.
You look up and forget how to breathe for a moment.
There she was. Lily fucking Evans walking towards you she was wearing a white long sleeve shirt and a plaid skirt it was so simple but she looked amazing.
Why are you feeling like this? Why does it feel like every time you're in her presents you feel like you can't breathe?
You've never felt this way before.
“Hey Y/N ready to go?”
“Yes.”
You felt like your words were stuck in your throat.
She was just so fucking beautiful.
You didn't talk much on your walk to Hogsmeade. You were too caught up in your head and Lily had noticed that.
“Are you okay Y/N?”
“Yes, I'm fine. How was your party last night?”
You asked, trying to change the subject. LIly knew what you were doing and she let you get away with it.
“It was actually a lot of fun. It would have been a lot more fun if you were there.”
Lily said, sending you a smile.
You just rolled your eyes playfully with a small smile of your own, letting Lily go on about the things that happened. She told you everything that had happened as if she didn't want you to feel left out. You didn't realize how much a little act like that could make your heart speed up a bit.
By the time you had gotten to Hogmaede Lily was laughing at a story about something her friend Marlenne had done, you were just smiling. Whether you were smiling at the story or at her laugh you didn't know and you didn't want to think about it. You just wanted to enjoy the time with her.
At some point Lily grabbed your hand holding it as you went through multiple shops, you tried not to pay too much attention to how her hand felt in yours. There were a few disagreements here and there when you insisted on paying for the things she wanted.
She in her words 'didn't want you to waste your money’ and you just responded with ‘it's not a waste if it's you.’
She finally stopped fighting you after you told her that you loved spending money on things you knew your mother and father wouldn't agree with. It was one of your little acts of rebellion. Which was true but a part of you also just wanted to spoil her.. But she didn't have to know that.
By the time you two had gotten back to the castle it was almost dark. You walked Lily to the Gryffindor tower still holding her hand.
“You know you could come in right? They want to see you.”
Lily said, squeezing your hand gently to reassure you.
Since the school year started and you wouldn't talk to Regulus he stopped coming down to the dungeons if he could help it, he started to stay in the Gryffindor tower. So other than the few classes you shared and the occasional glances across the great hall you haven't seen your twin in months.
It killed a part of you but you were still so angry and hurt.
“Me and you both know that's not a good idea.”
You said looking down. Lily was about to disagree when the portrait opened out walking James Potter, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew and last but not least both of your brothers.
You could hear a pin drop in the corridor outside of the Gryffindor common room.
Sirius and Regulus stare at you without saying a word. No one moves, no one says anything.
You look back at Lily with your jaw clenched and drop her hand, putting your hands in your pockets. You didn't miss the hurt that flashes through her eyes but you didn't focus on it. You just had to get out of there.
“I'll see you later Evans, Yeah?”
You say to Lily mustering up a very small smile at her so she knew you were not upset with her.
You started to walk away not even acknowledging the presents of anyone else. You do your best to keep walking away ignore the sound of talking down the hall, trying your best to not spare your brothers another glance
You just weren't ready to talk to them and you didn't even know if they actually wanted to talk to you.
So you just continue walking to the dungeons
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
The next day Lily rushed into potions class, saying how sorry she was and explaining that she didn't know that was going to happen. It was all just poor timing.
All you could do was smile at her and reassure her that you didn't blame her.
You knew she wouldn't do something like that to you,
As the days passed by getting closer to the middle of the week you and Lily continued to get closer. You both would still meet up after classes in the library to finish up your project, the project that you both knew you could have finished, days ago.
You were coming to expect that you possibly had feelings for the girl but you knew she most likely just saw you as a friend.
You both were packing up for the night, you had finally finished with your project with two days to spare. It was a bittersweet moment.
“Y/N, what are you doing tonight?”
You looked up confused but you had a spark of hope in your chest.
“Nothing, probably go to my dorm, read, sleep… Why?”
“I have rounds tonight till 8:30. Do you want to meet after?”
“Um.. Okay? Yes, I'd like that. Um where should we meet?”
Lily then gave you one of her breath taking smiles obviously excited that you agreed.
“I'll come get you after I'm down, just meet me in front of the dungeons around 9?”
“Okay, Yeah.”
You were caught off guard when Lily walked over to you and hugged you.
The only people to have hugged you were your brothers and even then it had been years. You didn't know what to do for a moment so after some hesitation you hugged her back.
You felt her relax into you for a moment. You could smell her perfume, Strawberries and vanilla.
You reluctantly pulled away after a moment. You could see a light blush on her face and you couldn't imagine that you were any better.
“I'll see you later Evans.”
You say giving Lily a small smile and walking away with your things in hand.
Once you left the library you all but ran to your dorm. Your thoughts consume you.
That was a friend hug right? It had to be. Lily was just nice like that. Are friend hugs supposed to last that long though? You wouldn't know you wouldn't ever let anyone you were friends with hug you.
So then why did you let Lily hug you?
Why did you want to do it again?
Before you knew it it was 8:55 and you were waiting in front of the dungouse. You were still over thinking the hug.
Why was something so simple as a hug throwing you off? It didn't make sense.
You continued to think while absentmindedly playing with your ring. You were so lost in thought that you didn't even notice Lily till she put her hand on yours, stopping you from fidgeting.
You look at her and smile slightly.
“Where exactly are we going Evans?”
You ask, raising an eyebrow.
“Now why would I tell you that? Come on.”
Lily gave you a smirk and grabbed you hand leading you to wherever she was taking you. You couldn't help but blush at her holding your hand but you didn't pull away or protest it.
You let out a little chuckle when you finally realized where Lily was leading you.
“Really Evans? The astronomy tower? Seems a little cliché doesn’t it?”
You say with a teasing voice all Lily does is roll her eyes at you as you make it to the top of the tower.
When you get there you see that a few blankets and pillows are lying out.
You just blush again and Lily drags you over and has you sit with her in the pile of blankets and pillows.
“So why here?”
You ask leaning back on your hands.
“It’s just one of my favorite places. I like the stars.”
She says with a little shrug.
“Do you know about Cassiopeia?”
You ask, looking at her as she looks into the sky. Lily just shrugs and looks at you.
“Admittedly I’m not very good at astronomy. I would usually have… um Sirius do my work.”
Lily says looking scared that just mentioning your brother will have you running for the hills.
“Cassiopeia was the queen of Ethiopia; she was married to King Cepheus. One day she had angered Poseidon, she claimed that her and her daughter, Andromeda were more beautiful than the daughters of Nereus. So the sea nymphs, Nereids, asked Poseidon to send a monster to destroy King Cepheus's coast. To appease the monster, Cassiopeia and Cepheus chained Andromeda to a rock as a sacrifice, Perseus rescued Andromeda, but Poseidon still punished Cassiopeia, he took her and hung her in the heavens. Cassiopeia sits on her throne, but during part of the year, she appears upside down in the sky.”
Lily looks at you slightly shocked.
“How do you just know that?”
You chuckle and shake your head lightly.
“Evans, I’m a Black. It’s basically a requirement to know about the stars.”
“Okay fine, tell me about that one.”
She says point at a random constellation.
You tell her about every constellation or star she points at for a while, not noticing that the two of you have subconsciously been moving closer and closer. Eventually your shoulders are touching hands brushing against each other every so often.
“Okay how about that one?”
She pointed at one of the clusters of stars you hoped she wouldn’t have pointed out.
Then again it was bound to happen.
“Canis Major the ‘great dog’ it’s built around Sirius, the Dog Star, the brightest star in the sky.”
You say looking down, playing with the ring on your finger.
There’s a silence for a moment, it’s not awkward but not necessarily comfortable either.
“They miss you, you know?”
Lily says, looking at you.
“I don’t want to talk about this right now.”
You say not looking at her at all.
A part of you knew you couldn’t look at her because if you did you’d tell her anything she wanted to know.
“They really do. Sirius and Regulus ask me how you're doing all the time Y/N.”
Lily says grabbing your hand to stop you from playing with your ring once again.
“Lily please.”
You say looking up at her.
Your breath gets stuck in your throat for a moment once you realize how close the two of you are.
You're so caught up in the moment, so captivated by the most beautiful pair of green eyes you've ever seen that you didn't even notice.
You didn't even notice that you called her Lily. Not Evans.
Just Lily.
“You know you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen?”
Lily says, staring at your eyes.
“Funny. I was thinking the same thing.”
You said with a new found confidence. Lily looks down at your lips for a moment and then you both start to lean in slowly.
“Ooooo naughty naughty.”
You both jump at the sound of the most annoying Poltergeist known to man.
After a few minutes of Lily somehow convincing Peeves to not tell on us for being there. You found yourself walking Lily to the Gryffindor common room hand in hand for the second time in a week.
“I hope you had fun tonight, I’m sorry Peeves kinda ruined the night.”
Lily said, stopping in front of the entrance to her common room.
“It's not your fault. You didn't know he would be there. I still had a good time.”
She just smiled at you, not letting go of your hand.
“I had a lot of fun too.”
You desperately didn't want the night to end but you didn't know how to express that. You weren't blind you could tell Lily most likely had some kind of feelings for you. There was just a part of you that was still so scared of being rejected or left.
“It's getting late so we should go to bed.”
You say ruining your thumb over her knuckles.
“What if I said I didn't want to go to bed yet?”
Lily said, stepping closer to you.
You just smile and let out a little sigh looking her in the eyes.
“I would then say that as much as I don't want this night to end, we've already been caught once and it's late, we have class tomorrow and I wouldn't want to see you tired… though under different circumstances I would love to see you tired.”
You say to her while smirking at her with confidence that you didn't know you had.
Lily just looks at you speechless blushing more than you think you've ever seen her before. You then dare to kiss her cheek softly.
“Goodnight, Lily.”
You whisper while sending a small smile towards her, not waiting for a response you start to walk away.
This had been one of the best nights of your life.
 · · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
Even though you had finished your projects you and Lily found yourselves still meeting in the library after classes leading up to break.
You both had been more affectionate in your own ways, Lily had started bringing you little snacks and water because she thought you didn't eat enough or drink enough water.
You were just constantly holding her hand or hugging her when you got the chance. It didn't go farther than that physically but you two started shamelessly flirting more often.
Finally it was the day before everyone would leave for christmas break you had just turned in your project to Slughorn.
You were gathering your things to leave for the next class when you were hit with an idea.
“Lily, do you want to.. Maybe hang out tonight?”
You asked nervously while a faint blush took over your face. You don't know why you're so nervous. You had hung out with Lily so many times at this point, it should feel normal.
She smiled at you and nodded.
“Yeah. I'd like that.”
“Okay. meet me at the astronomy tower. Around 8?”
“Really Y/N the astronomy tower? How cliché.”
Lily says in a teasing tone.
“Hahaha, just meet me there okay?”
You gave Lily’s hand a little squeeze, sending her a smile.
After classes that day you got together a little picnic basket of all the candies and food that Lily had told you she liked at one point or another.
You had gone and set everything up so you went back to your dorm to change into your favorite outfit. Finally it was time to meet Lily you found her eventually and smiled at how beautiful she looked.
“So where are we going?”
Lily asked as you walked up to her.
“Wouldn't you like to know?”
You say sending her a small smirk as she rolled her eyes.
“Yes I actually would.”
“You'll find out soon, calm down.”
You say grabbing her hand and leading her up to the third floor of the astronomy tower, you then let go of Lily’s hand walking in front of the blank wall while Lily looks at you curiously.
Soon the door for the Room of Requirements appears and the look Lily gives you is priceless.
“Is this the Room of Requirement?”
You nod while opening the door for her.
“Yeah. I found it in my third year. It's my own little part of the school, where no one can bother me unless I let them. You're the first person I've brought here.”
The room is full of books and a big fireplace with large comfy couches and a record player with all your favorite records next to it.
Next to the fireplace is the little picnic you had set up. Lily lets out a soft gasp as she sees the set up.
You both sit down and look at each other for a while. It's a soft moment, it feels like you both just needed to take each other in for a moment.
“So it's your last christmas here. Are you going home?”
You ask, taking a bite of a chocolate wand after.
“No. We all decided to stay here for our last christmas. Are you staying?”
“Yes. I'd rather spend Christmas in the dungeons then go back to Grimmauld Place.”
You say shaking your head with a sigh.
“Y/N, I know you try to avoid talking about this but just hear me out and if you don't want to talk about it after, I will leave it be, okay?”
You sigh already knowing where this conversation is going but you decided to hear Lily out anyway. You nod your head letting her know that she can continue.
“You said it yourself. This is mine and Sirius’s last Christmas at Hogwart. This is probably the last chance the three of you have to spend a Christmas together. They miss you Y/N, honestly they do. My sister doesn't talk to me anymore because I'm a witch and I miss her everyday. I don't want to see you go through that. I don't want you to regret not seeing your brother when you had the chance.”
You take a moment to think about it. You already knew if you didnt make up with them soon you'd regret it. Hell you already regretted it.
You remembered how heartbroken Narcissa was when she found out that Andromeda had a baby. Narcissa knew she would never be able to meet her niece. You didn't want that. You didn't want your brothers to have families and you not be involved. You knew that if you didnt get over this pettiness that there was a large possibility that that was exactly the path you were heading down.
“Okay. when everyone leaves tomorrow. I'll see them.”
“Really?”
“Yeah Lils. You're right after all. I don't want to not be a part of my brothers’ lives.”
Lily just gives you a hug whispering how proud of you she was.
Lily understood how hard this was for you. She knew you were hurt even if you never flat out said it to her.But it was time for you to get over it before you lost the only family you ever really cared for.
You and Lily spend the rest of the night talking and laughing. For a moment you forget the anxiety that will consume you tomorrow.
You'll be fine. As long as you have Lily by your side you know you'll be fine.
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
You waited at the entrance of the Gryffindor common room anxiously playing with the ring on your finger.
Why did you agree to this? Were you really ready to face your brothers? What if they hated you? What if they wanted nothing to do with you?
You were so caught up in your thoughts you didn't even notice your favorite red head till she touched your hands stopping you fidgeting with your ring one again.
You looked up at her, the anxiety obvious on your face.
“They want to see you. I promise.”
She gives you a comforting smile keeping her hand on yours.
“What if I fuck this up? What if I lose them for good?”
You feel the burning behind your eyes trying not to cry.
“They love you so much Y/N. All you have to do is try.”
You nod, keeping Lily’s hand in yours letting her lead you into the portrait of Elizabeth Spriggs aka ‘The Fat Lady’.
Once you walk into the common room you notice it seems uncharacteristically quiet.
You look and see two matching sets of gray eyes looking at you. You take a deep breath still trying to hold back the tears.
It's been close to a year since you talked to Sirius, quite a few months since you talked to Regulus.
“Sirius, Regulus.”
You say in a neutral voice not making eye contact with either of them.
There's a moment of silence and stillness, a part of  you considers running out of the room but before you can act on that though you're being tackled into a hug by your eldest brother. You couldn't help but let a few tears fall as you hold Sirius and you can tell he's crying just the same.
Sirius cups your face with both of hands after a few moments to look at you with tears streaming down his face.
“I'm never letting you go again, you hear? I'm not losing my baby sister again.”
You let out a little sob and hug Sirius again putting your head on his chest.
“Sirius, Y/N why don't we go somewhere with a smaller audience.”
Regulus said in all his stoic glory.
“Yeah. Regs right. We'll go to my room, alright?”
You give a small nod to Sirius then leads you to his shared dorm room while Regulus follows behind.
You honestly didn't even notice the other people in the room until Regulus said something.
It wasn't many people, it was just ‘The Marauders’ as they call themselves and Lily but Regulus knew you would be more comfortable with just you three and you knew Regulus felt the same.
Once you get to Sirius room you look at Regulus for the first time in months.
“I’m sorry Regulus. I really am.”
You say trying to hold tears back once again.
“You ignored me. You ignored me for months Y/N.”
You look down ashamed playing with your ring once more.
“I know Regulus and if I could go back I would but I can’t. I was just hurt. Sirius left and that hurt so fucking much but at least I had you. Then you left, and I understand why you did but then I was just by myself. It nearly killed me to be alone with mother and father.”
You said taking a deep breath.
“I told you to come with me. Why didn’t you come?”
Regulus said with so much hurt in his voice it felt like someone ripped your heart out.
“I was afraid. I was afraid that I was too much like them. That if I would have gone, I would have tainted whatever good you made for yourselves.”
“You are nothing like them. Neither of you are. I made sure of that. Y/N if you were like them you wouldn’t be friends with Lily and Regulus if you were you would have never reached out for help.”
Sirius says while holding you against him once again.
“I really am sorry Reg.”
You look up at regulus with your tear stained face.
Regulus’s eyes softened and before you knew it, Regulus had taken you from Sirius arms and hugged you tighter than you had ever been hugged before but you didn’t mind.
You both cried into each other's arms for the first time in years.
Sirius hugged both of you and for a moment you just sat there in your brother's arms enjoying every second of it.
“So, you and Lily huh?”
Sirius says in a teasing voice. You pushed him away and glared at him.
“Shut up.”
You say with a slight pout. Regulus and Sirius just give each other a knowing look as you roll your eyes and scoff.
“I hate you both. Did you know that?”
“Nah, you love us too much baby sister.”
Sirius says ruffling your hair as you swat his hands away.
“Wait. Is that my jumper?”
“… No. You’re crazy. The Black Family Madness is catching up with you Siri.”
Sirius and you start to argue as if no time had passed. Regulus just smiles at you two feeling grateful to have this back.
You spend the rest of the break with your brothers mostly but also with the marauders and Lily.
You got to know them all.
You took a liking to Remus quickly bonding over your favorite books.
You and Peter got along well enough playing chess together often, since he would insist on rematches because you would continuously beat him.
James admittedly was harder not that you didn’t like him but a part of you had blamed him for Sirius leaving for so long that it was hard to get past that and it showed. It wasn't until christmas eve when James had pulled you aside for a moment when you felt yourself grow comfortable with him.
“You know, you don't have to go back there right?”
“What do you mean Potter?”
You looked at him with raised eyebrows as he sat next to you on the couch you were now occupying.
“You don't have to go back to Grimmauld Place. You could be with your brothers again, I already wrote mum and dad. They said they'd be more than happy to have another Black join the Potters. I mean what's another one, yeah?”
James said with a small smile, lightly bumping your shoulder with his.
“Are you sure? I don't-”
“Yes. I know. You don't want to over step or be a burden and I know you don't think you deserve it, but you do. Merlin's beard, you and your brother are just the same. I will never understand the treatment your parents put the three of you through. But what I do know is that you three deserve good things in your lives. You deserve so much more than what your parents put you through. You are worth so much more than what they made you believe you were. You deserve to be loved, to be safe and to be happy. Y/N you will always have a home with us, plus… I've always wanted a little sister.”
You didn't say anything, you just hugged James and nodded your head.
Off to the side watching the interaction between you and James was your brothers, for the first time in years Regulus and Sirius knew the three of you would be safe and they couldn't be happier.
They liked seeing you interact with the people that they’ve grown close with and getting to see you actually happy every so often was just a bounce.
But your brothers weren’t the only ones who liked it.
Lily loved seeing you interact with all of them.
You seemed so alive.
She’d never seen you act like that with anyone but her. She loved seeing you smile and laugh. She loved seeing you and your brothers truly happy.
This was her favorite Christmas so far.
You had made it her favorite Christmas.
· · ────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
You felt better than you had in months, no, years.
You had your brothers back and for the first time in years. The three of you were getting along and you knew you would finally be safe.
You also knew it was because of Lily as well.
She was the fire in your darkness, she gave you light, warmth and she felt so happy and safe.
Everything felt good for once. But if you knew anything, you knew that wasn't going to last.
“You don't actually think she loves you do you?”
You turn to see none other than Severus Snape leaning by the entrance to the dungeons. You raise your eyebrow at him questioningly.
You don't really talk to Snape unless it was necessary you never really liked him or the company he kept in recent years. So for him to start any conversion with you was rare.
“What are you on about Snape?”
“Lily.”
He states as if it's obvious.
“What about Lily?”
Your interest obviously peaked at hearing the name of your favorite Gryffindor.
“She'll never love you. She loves Potter.”
He says in a monotone voice. You scoff rolling your eyes.
“I don't know why I'm bothering with this nonsense.”
You turn to walk away muttering to yourself.
“She and Potter kissed, you know. The other week, at a Hufflepuff party. I saw them. Potter has been pining for Lily since our first year. It seems he finally got what he was after.”
You stood there shocked, confused, frozen with your jaw now clenched.
That couldn't be true. Lily wouldn't do that and if she did she'd tell you right? I mean you were… whatever you are, right?
And James wouldn't do that. He had all but flat out asked you to be his sister.
Snape was lying, he had to be. He was spreading lies about Lily. He just had to be. You wouldn't stand for that. You felt ‘The Madness’ creep in once again.
In one swift motion you had Snape pinned against the wall with your wand pointed at his neck.
“You will not speak of Lily again. You will not look at her, speak to her. You will not breathe the same air as her and if you do. I will kill you. Do I make myself clear?”
You say with murderous eyes.
Snape would never admit it but he was scared. He's only ever seen you as cold, emotionless. This was far from emotionless.
“Crystal.”
Snape said, trying to hide his emotions as best as he could.
You walk away without another glance stuck in your head.
He had to be lying right? But why would he lie? Nothing made sense. Maybe he wasn't lying.
Stupid. You were so fucking stupid.
How could you think someone like Lily Evans would like someone like you.
Lily brings life to everything she touches, she was sweet, caring, kind she was fucking perfect.
You were a Black, enough said.
You were angry, mean, rude, it was in your blood to ruin everything you touch.
It wasn't her fault that you thought you might actually have a chance, that you developed a stupid crush, it was your fault for being stupid enough to think that it was ever a possibility.
I mean maybe you and Lily were just friends. Maybe you misunderstood?
You couldn't blame her but that didn't mean it hurt less.
The first person you started putting your walls down for the first time in years obviously didn't care about you the way you cared for her.
So you did what you did best when people would hurt you.
You avoided and ignored her. You managed to avoid Lily for a few days skipping potions class, leaving the library when you would see her walk in.
Sirius was quickly getting irritated with your antics. He had been pestering you as to why you were avoiding Lily but you wouldn’t tell him or Regulus.
If they knew she would find out.
So you just kept avoiding her and avoiding answering any questions your brothers would ask.
Eventually she found you and tried to talk to you which led to you ignoring her. It killed you to see the look on her face but it was necessary to protect yourself. You tried to convince yourself that it would be easier after a week.
It wasn't.
For either of you apparently.
Lily had managed to find you in the library while you were looking for a book to distract yourself with. You had put your guard down for a moment. You didn't even know she was there till she spoke.
“Y/N.”
She had said to gain your attention, when you realized there wasn't anywhere for you to go you decided to just get it over with to stop avoiding your problems for the first time in your life.
You rolled your eyes and sighed looking at her for the first time in a week.
“What the hell do you want Evens? Shouldn't you be with your boyfriend, Potter?”
You say to Lily in a monotone voice looking her in the eyes.
“What are you talking about? I'm not dating James, I don't want him!”
You felt all the anger and insecurity start to cloud your brain. She was lying. How dare she lie to you. You were damned if you were made a fool once again.
“You're such a liar Evans. Snape told me everything about how Potter has been pining for you for years! How he saw you two kiss at the Hufflepuff party! I can't believe I was stupid enough to believe you'd actually like me. I can't believe I was stupid enough to think Potter would actually look at me as a sister.”
You whisper yelled with your jaw clenched while the back of your eyes burned trying to hold back tears.
“Me and James didn’t kiss I swear-”
You scoff, turning to walk away deciding you were done with this conversation, but Lily grabbed you by the arm, tapping you against the bookshelf.
“I didn't kiss James. He's a great friend but nothing more to me, and he does care for you, I know he does. But I don't want him, I want you. I've wanted you since the first time I laid eyes on you. I love everything about you. I love how loyal you are, how even if you didn’t talk to your brother you'd never let anyone speak ill of them. How despite being raised to hate someone like me you never held something as stupid as my blood statutes against me. I love how smart you are. How you cover your smile when you laugh. How your eyes light up when youre reading a book you enjoy. How when you get anxious you play with your ring. Everything. Can’t you see that?”
You searched her eyes trying to see if there was any lie, but all you saw was the truth. She meant every word and it scared you.
Lily then cupped your cheek wiping away a tear you didn't know was there.
“Why would you want me? I'm cold, rude, cynical and angry all the time. I'm not a great person...”
Lily scoffs playfully while smiling.
“You're no angel but you’re my everything Y/N. To me you light up the room, you don't take shit from anyone, you stand up for what you believe and I hope you'll never change. You showed me that I'm enough. I'll never stop wanting you. I wish you could see yourself the way I see you.”
Lily whispers the last part brushing her nose against yours.
“What if I hurt you?”
You whisper your voice breaking a little.
“You'll probably hurt me a few times and I'll probably hurt you a few times but that's okay as long as we work it out together, yeah?”
“Yeah.”
The anger and insecurity finally unclouding your brain letting you take in how close you two are.
Lily's hand is still cupping your cheek while her other hand is on your hip pressing you slightly in the bookshelf while she's pressed against you.
Lily's eyes flicker down to your lips and you nod softly letting her know it was okay.
You both lean in, your lips touching for the first time.
You felt warmth go through your whole body. It was beyond a spark or fireworks. It felt as if a bomb had been dropped on you.
That kiss broke something in you.
But it wasn't bad.
It had broken down every wall that you spent years building up brick by brick.
In just a moment Lily Evans had managed to do something to you, that you and so many other people thought impossible.
She healed a part of you.
Her lips were so soft they felt like silk against yours.
It felt like she was made to be with you.
It's soft and sweet, at first. Then it felt consuming. She was all around you and you didn't want it to be any other way.
You could only feel her, her hand squeezing your hip as your hand was on the back of her head pulling her closer.
You could only smell her cherry and vanilla perfume. It made you dizzy with how intoxicating it was.
You had forgotten that you were in public for a moment that was until you heard a throat clear.
Both of you pulling away with hot faces you look to see a very amused and smirking Remus Lupin.
“Finally. I was afraid neither of you would ever actually make a move. Just wait till Sirius hears about this.”
You groan, throwing your head back against the bookcase while Remus and Lily laugh at your expense.
You never expected for anyone to be able to break down your walls, to fall for someone.
Especially not someone like Lily.
But fuck were you happy that she did.

"And we visited this museum when my dad took me on a trip to Boston, and the art there was just amazing! So many different types of paintings... all these vibrant colours that matched... and the amount of detail..." You were sharing your winter experience with your friends, feeling passionate about the art. Now that summer break had started and you were back in camp, you were excited to share all your latest stories, but none of your friends seemed to really care.
"Yeah... yeah... we get it! Your father took you to see some old paintings," one of them said, rolling their eyes, and soon afterwards everyone else joined.
"Yeah, who cares about some old paintings that all look the same anyway?" Another one added, and your smile suddenly faded, feeling sad that they spoke like that about something you cared so much about.
"And you've been talking about it for almost an hour! Don't you let anyone else speak?" And with that, you closed your mouth, feeling unwanted; you didn't say anything for the rest of your friends conversation.
Later that day, you were sitting on your cabin's table earlier than everyone else, not being in much of a mood. You started to wonder if everyone thought the same as your friends. You knew that sometimes you talked too much, but you couldn't control it. Did everyone in camp think you were annoying?
A familiar figure approached you. At first, you didn't turn to see who it was, but soon you realized it was your dear friend from the Hermes cabin, Luke Castellan.
He noticed your unusual silence and your worried expression. "Hey, is everything okay?" He asked gently.
"Fine..." You said, avoiding his gaze. And that, with the fact that you replied without using many words, like you always liked to explain the details, made him curious as to who got you sad. Deep down, he was also slightly angry that someone would hurt his best friend like this.
"Come' on, I know you better than that." He smiled softly, reaching across the table and gently holding your hand. "You can tell me everything, you know."
You hesitate for a bit, feeling a lump form in your throat. "Do you ever find me annoying?" You eventually blurted out, surprising both Luke and yourself.
He furrowed his eyebrows, looking genuinely puzzled. "Annoying? Not at all! Why would you think that?"
You signed, looking into his filled-with-kindness blue eyes, giving him a weak smile. He was so gentle with you that it warmed your heart.
You sighed, finally deciding to share the weight on your shoulders. "My friends, they... They always complain about me talking too much and never let me finish."
Luke's expression shifted from confusion to understanding. "You're not annoying, not to me. I love how you light up when you talk, how your eyes sparkle. Your enthusiasm is one of the things I adore about you."
Your heart warmed upon hearing his comforting words. You realized that you had found someone who appreciated you for who you were.
"Don't let them get to you. You're amazing just the way you are, and anyone who can't see that doesn't deserve your energy." He said, moving a strand of your hair behind your ear. You smiled, remembering how fun it was when you explained to Luke the history of each painting, and him listening intensively.
"Thank you, Luke." You smiled, moving closer, sniffing a little, and resting your head on his shoulder after giving him a hug.
"Can you tell me about that painting with that couple on a swing again?" Luke asked, and you blushed, nodding your head and starting to tell him about the famous Cot's painting.
In that moment, the weight lifted, and you felt a newfound strength. As you continued your conversation, you found solace in Luke's understanding, grateful to have someone who valued every word you shared.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were born to it.
The books. The films. The music and video games.
It was your life, literally. With your parents being owners of the infamous establishment called ‘top shelf’, you had no choice but to.
And you wouldn’t ever change.
Books upon books, movie after movie, games old and new and music that could last you weeks. Who would want to change such a life?
Your father was the first to start it.
He was poor man in Washington but had just enough money to buy it from the man who owned the small movie shop before he retired. He slowly started added book shelves and video games to the mix. Getting few customers but enough to survive day to day during the time of his early years
Your mother was a wealthy run away. Wanting something different and new in her life when she met your father. The man was playing on his game boy behind the counter before he saw her.
The poor boy and his run away wife, a classic really.
The rest after that is history.
As soon as they found out your mother was pregnant with you, they used the rest of her money they saved and went to New York where they bought the huge abandoned apartment complex.
They broke all the insides down and built what you now know as your second home. Hundreds of video games, films and music in one section and thousands of books in another.
Thus, Top Shelf was born only two weeks after you.
You met many friends there in the comfort section where students and business people worked as you all goofed off.
Your had also met your small friend group during your younger years, the four of you all never letting your father have the peace he wanted and dragging him all over New York.
With the thousands of books and hundreds of video games and films your parents sold, you had money. Lots of it.
But your mother made sure you never let that get the best of you, never. It went against everything she went for when she ran away.
She would make sure you would work for and earn everything you got, always.
She never let you have too much online activity, in case her family found you and made sure you were both street smart and book smart.
Your neighbors made sure you were street smart more than anything but you still gave her credit for trying.
Though, the book store was beautiful in every season. Winter was a favorite and when it was busiest. It was too your favorite.
Your father lighting the public fire place, your mother setting soft seasonal music, hell even the cheesy Christmas cartoons on the TV’s set the mood for the perfect bookstore vibe.
The lights dim just enough to where it almost felt like dark academy yet the plants that grew down the upstairs railing made the entire place feel more alive.
————
“Bullshit!” You yell out as you throw your head back onto the head rest of your chair, groaning loudly as the photo sound of your death snapped in your ears.
“Man, he’s fucking using cheats!” Dru calls out through the mic before his name pops up above to yours in dark red on the screen as you respawn.
“Of course he is, he’s a pussy.” Mj says, as her name, too, pops up on the screen.
“Oh come on, guys!” Lyle says through his staticky mic. “You all just suck.” He laughs
“Now I know your cheating, dude. Your mic is acting up again, just like last time!” Dru says, the sound of his voice booming louder than needed and you roll my eyes.
“DD, just because you like to replay games without using cheats doesn’t mean the rest of us do.” Lyle says in a matter-of-fact tone.
“It’s multiplayer, stupid! It’s meant to be fair for everyone!” Dru says making you snort. “Says the guy who chases around little kids and steals their horses making them cry.” Mj says making Dru blow into his mic making loud, unnecessary noises.
“Quit that!” You say taking one head phone off your ear. “Tsk tsk tsk,” Lyle starts. “Such a sore loser.”
“I’ll show you sore loser, get on Elden ring and we’ll test your irritation.” Dru says, mic now muffled by his own spit.
“Your tank build is not enough to stop me, comet azur will always save the day.” He says in a sing-song voice.
“And you call me a try hard, yet you’re the one always using a broken spell.” Dru complains. “Theres nothing I have to try hard at when I can just hold a simple button.” The sound of Dru’s groans become louder as his spit clears out from his Mic. “Same thing!”
You laugh once again before picking up your phone and looking at the time.
“Shit!” Your eyes go wide at the sight, 8:48 AM.
You quickly throw the head set off and push yourself out of the chair, opening your closet grabbing a quick pair of jeans and a hoodie before rushing to put it all on.
Your cat skids across the floor, startled by your sudden movements before a crashing in the your pile of books and out the door.
“Shit, shit, shit,” you mumble as you jump up and down to put on your shoes, failing at not falling and race toward the door. “Sorry!” You call to your cat who yells at you next to his food bowl.
You grab your keys and rush out the door before slamming it shut and locking it.
“Ay, y/n!” Your neighbor, Rosa, shouts from beside her door. “Quiet will you! I just put Nona to sleep!” She yells raising her news paper tapping your head with it.
“Sorry! sorry, Señora Rosa.” You whisper yell as you try to push her weaponized hand away. “I’m just a little late.”
“And I just got a moment of peace! Quiet!” She says giving you one last wack making you try and shrink away from her as you rush toward the stairs.
“You got your pepper spray, right?” She calls and you raise your key chain to show her the attached small can. “¡Buena niña!”
You rush down the stairs and push passed the glass door, almost slipping on the ice before running down the street.
Your phone buzzes in your pocket making you quickly take it out.
“Hello?” You ask without knowing who it was.
“Arthur Morgan would be very disappointed at your sudden disappearance from an important mission.” Lyle says before sighing.
“It’s multiplayer, there are no main missions.” You say, trying to avoid the ice on the ground before stopping at the red hand across the street. “Plus, we were in the middle of four way 1v1. He’d be more upset that we were going against each other.”
“Loyalty is everything in such a game,” he says, sarcasm in his voice and you imagine him shaking his head. “Of course he would be upset at my bullet in DD’s head.”
“Why’d you call me exactly?” You ask watching the hand turn into a green man walking before taking off again.
“Well, you just yelled ‘shit!’ Before disappearing on us, had to make sure someone didn’t break in and kill you.” He replies casually as if he knew that weren’t the case. “But after hearing you continue on your ‘shit’ rant and the door slam I figured it was okay, just had to call and make sure, y’know?”
“Ever heard of a text, loser?” You ask, barley missing a man walking and looking down at his phone. “Gross,” he says before making a gagging noise. “why waste such time typing when I can simply just hit one button?”
“You’re so lazy.” You laugh out loud as you run across another street. “Work smarter not harder, Y/N. You should know this with that big brain of yours.”
“What if I want to work both smarter and harder?” You ask, running up to the glass window to see the books lined up. “Well, then your just weird.” You roll your eyes.
“Just kidding. I guess you can do both, I just personally prefer the alternative.” He says as the sound of guns shooting fills the phone. “Yeah, also sorry about leaving.” You say pushing into the store being greeting with the familiar smell of books and the warm smile of my mother.
“I forgot I had to get ready for work.”
“You’re at top shelf?” He ask and you reply with a ‘mhm’. “I might stop by later to say hello actually, I need a new game anyway.” He laughs as the sound of Dru yelling in the back ground becomes more prominent.
“Sounds good, see you loser” You say as you take your sweat shirt off, leaving you in your tank top you hand before leaving. “Later,” you hear him say before hanging up.
“Good morning,” you hear your mother say as you pull the staff sweat shirt over your head and pull up your sleeves. “Mornin’,” you reply before kissing her cheek.
“Wheres dad?” You ask looking around before your eyes setting on the woman stack a pile of books into one pile.
“He’s going to be out of town for a few days,” she says carrying the pile to the check back station. “A vacation, I insisted as I continue your training.” She says making you smile.
“We both know he needs it, he’s getting older.” She says and your smile fades as you nod. “So are you.” You mumble and she, too, nods.
“You know him getting old is different from me getting old.” She states, sighing quietly.
“What’s todays task?” You ask, quickly changing the subject at the sight of her sad frown. She looks at you for a moment before smiling once again.
She moves to storage closet and unlocks it, allowing you to see the boxes upon boxes along with stacks of different other things.
“To be a good store owner, you have to know your customers.” She says returning with a large box that you quickly take from her.
“Just put it on that table — and to know your customers, you must socialize and help them throughout the store.” She finishes as you take the box to the table noticing the label romance written across it.
“That also means having to work while helping the customers, so you’ll be on stock duty as well.” She says with a smile.
Yes.
You mentally say to yourself. Stock duty required work of you finding the places of different books, movies and games which also meant finding new things you didn’t know about before.
“One more thing,” you mother says as she walks behind the counter to finish opening up the store. “No head phones.” Your eyes go wide.
“But ma!” You call out to the lady who switches the sign from closed to open. “What else am I supposed to do when I stock!” You call, holding onto the white cords and swinging them around.
“Help the customers and socialize.” She laughs out making you frown. “I should call CPS.” You mumble carrying the box to the sorted area before hearing the woman’s laugh.
“Sure, call ahead but don’t be disappointed when they decline a twenty year old.”
You roll your eyes before continuing down the aisle.
“And after you sort those, get the others out of the storage closet!” You huff quietly as you glance back with a small playful glare on your face.
“If I wanted to work out, I would have gone to the gym.” You say and she rolls her eyes. “You’ll be just as sore in the morning, trust me.”
————
Hours hand passed, since you last seen the romance box having moved on to the horror section of the films.
You search through their placement areas, looking at all the old cinematic master pieces, the many Dracula films placed neatly next to each other, in order of both year and name.
Horror was one of the favorites when coming here, your father being a collected through his years he had many people couldn’t get their hands on.
Sure you could watch it online now but where’s the fun in that when you have a real copy with the static noises and written voices on screen. Some people still had some class left in them.
You hear a book hit the floor making the library echo as heads turned toward the cause of the sudden interruption of their silence.
“Shit—” You hear someone say quietly, making you roll your eyes as you place the rest of the CD’s in their rightful places before making your way toward the aisle the noise came from.
You subtly make your way toward the aisle while acting like your checking the books before taking a peek around the corner.
You see a rather short girl — shorter than the third shelf — craning her neck to look up at all the books in front of her.
Just to your luck, your mother placed a box for that genre next to the end of the shelf and you picked it up.
You make your way down the aisle and set the box toward the middle before looking up the girl who was already staring, and boy was she something.
Freckles littered across her tan skin, strands of her short hair fell from her half up half down style, her eyes — damn her eyes — they were the prettiest brown you’ve ever seen.
You smile lightly before picking up the first book and reading both the authors name and the title while trying to slow down your racing heart.
Who was this girl? Matter of fact, what was she? She wasn’t a regular, that’s for sure but you always get random people coming in so it didn’t exactly matter.
After putting away a few books, you glance up to see the girl a few feet away and on her tippy toes, reaching for a book on the fifth or sixth shelf.
You snorted quietly catching the girls attention making you quickly look away to keep yourself from laughing.
“You think this is funny?” She asks and you begin shaking in quiet laughter.
After a few moments, you compose yourself and stand shaking your head.
“No, not at all. Would you like some help?” You ask taking step toward her. She narrows her eyes. “Are you making fun of me right now?” She asks, both amusement and annoyance in her voice.
“Why would I do that? It’s poor customer service.” You say with a smile before watching her own smile grow.
“It’s poor customer service to laugh at a customer.” She mumbles before stepping back. “Please.” You walk up and grab the book.
“Look how easy that was.” She says, taking the book you held out for her. “Being six-foot-two does have its perks.” She says looking over the back of the book.
You roll your eyes but your smile only grows. Looking down at the book you nod and raise your eye brows, “that’s a good one, read it a few years back.” You say, making your way back to box of books.
“I’d hope so, for all the work I had to do to try and get it.” She mumbles making you smile and shake your head. “Anything else good?” She asks, looking down to you.
“You’re asking me if there’s anything else good in here when there’s just by the look of it thousands of books here?” You ask, smirking at her when she rubs the back of her neck.
“Yes, there is, I’ve read more than I can count. My recommendation board is up by the front desk if you want to check it out.” You say before placing crave by Tracy Wolff into the slot.
“You must have come here a lot before working then? If you’ve read so many books from here.” She asks, following hot on your trail with the book tucked between her arm. “Oh, for sure,” you say nodding. “The owners and I are real close, we were together a whole nine months before I was born.”
Her eyes widen slightly at the information. “You’re parents own this place?” She asks, gesturing to the entire book store and you nod, smiling.
It felt like you were a teenage boy, flaunting his muscles to a girl he finds attractive.
“Wow,” she says looking around once again. Book still tucked tightly into her arm as she did so. “Just wow. Your parents have taste.”
“More like their people pleasers.” You say shaking your head. The real other reason why horror is so popular in the movie section is because of their request.
Every week they check their request list and buy everything people ask for. New books, new movies, new music and games, there’s always something new. You’re surprised there’s still room, then again the place would be as big you supposed.
“They like having their customers choice their number one priority. It’s good business.” You say looking up to the girl who had a look of wonder in her eyes as she stared down at you but there was also something else. Something you couldn’t quite place.
She stares at you for another moment before speaking again, “do you.. know who I am?” She asks and your furrow your eye brows in question.
“Should I?” You ask tilting your head. She stares for another moment again, eyes scanning your face and it’s features as if searching for something.
Her smile then grows, as she shakes her head. “You shouldn’t, or rather shouldn’t have to. It’s just a surprise.” She says, tucking her hair behind her ear.
You knit your eye brows together in confusion.
She walks out of the aisle and you catch the light smile on her face as she does.
What the hell? You wonder to yourself as you place the last few books away.
You were pretty sure that was the last section, unless your mother put out some more stuff you didn’t notice. You’d just check out the to-do list.
Your mother and father always had one for both you and their own sake. Adding things so no one would forget.
As you made your way to check out, you see the girl walking in the general distraction as well.
“All set?” You ask, placing the box inside the others, moving past the small door attached to the low counter.
“Yep,” she says once again staring at you.
You take the book you got for her earlier along with another you recognize almost immediately. “Between shades of gray?” You ask, looking at her as if she were serious.
“Your description seemed trust worthy enough to make me interested.” You glance over to see your board clearly flipped through before nodding.
You scan both books. “Careful, it’s sad, dark and traumatic. It’s one of my favorites though.” You say looking up at her, she pauses for a moment, staring at you once again and just smiles and shakes her head.
“I think I can deal with a few of those.”
“Bartering or buying?” You ask. “Bartering,” she replies and you nod. “Good, I need to get a review on what you think.” You say with a smirk and you see a glint of something in her eyes.
“Name?” You ask and she looks at you a little confused. “We have to know whose using our books, how else do you think we send emails threatening to charge or get them back?” You snort.
“Oh, your totally right.” she says quietly before taking out her credit card.
“Jenna Ortega..” she says and you nod, typing in the name before reaching for the credit. Her grip on the card tightens at your lack of response.
You pull the card gently but her grip is to hard for you to take.
“Can I… get the card?” You ask, looking around slightly uncomfortably with the stone like stare she was giving you.
“Are you sure you don’t know who I am?” She asks letting go allowing you to swipe the card.
“Again, should I?”
You both stare at each other, both confused and entrapped by the other.
You find is strange how she thinks you know who she is or why you don’t know her.
Maybe she was some big deal somewhere off and you still have yet to hear about her.
Her name did ring a bell but you weren’t sure. Was she a person you knew from your child hood? An old friend trying to reconnect? Maybe some relative on your moms sent by the older ones to investigate if it was really you.
“Miss Ortega?” You’re both broken out of your thoughts as two large men stand behind her. “Time to go.” he says gesturing to a few people who were standing and staring in your general direction.
One grabs the bag off the counter before quickly walking towards the door.
“Looks like I gotta go,” she says, smile now suddenly shy with others watching. “Don’t worry, I’ll return your book Y/N.” She says before walking toward the door, one of the men right behind her.
“Yeah, you bet-“ you pause after the the realization hits you. “Wait, how’d you-?” You begin to ask before watching her gesture to her chest.
You knit your eyebrows together, you look down to see the name tag right under the library symbol.
She was strange.. cute.. but strange

Do u have any wenclair (or individual) headcanons that havent found their way into a fic or comic of yours? One of my favs is Wednesday stashing weapons on Enid/in Enids space bc she is nothing if not prepared.
That's pretty cute actually lol
Ooh I have a few, yeah. Some of these ideas are ones i hope to put in a comic or fic somehow someday
- Wednesday's favorite season is summer. Enid is surprised because she expects it to be fall or winter. Wednesday just likes summer because it's the season when Enid puts away the fluffy coats and sweaters and wears sleeveless shirts that show off her arms and more scars
- enidtendo drew Lucas and Enid taking Bianca and Wednesday on a double date to a hockey game and I really love the thought of that being a regular thing. Maybe even movie dates to action movies. Just a really nice bonus that it forces Bianca and Wednesday to bond lol
- there was a time when they had matching lockscreen photos. Enid's was Wednesday's half of The Window while Wednesday had Enid's side. Wednesday begrudgingly did it but then got mad when Enid changed her lockscreen only after like a week or so
- when Wednesday isn't in the mood for much physical contact, Enid will show affection by kissing her braid
- Enid has a petty, one-sided rivalry with Fester for being Wednesday's favorite person ever. Fester is oblivious.
- while people think that Wednesday is too gloomy, Enid knows that Wednesday is actually fuckin hilarious
- Wednesday totally got tickets to Loossemble, Odd Eye Circle, and Chuu's concerts when they toured in America for Enid. Wednesday glared the fuck out of Hyeju.
- When Enid is mad, Wednesday scrambles to buy/cook her favorite food. When Wednesday is mad, Enid tries to find the weirdest and/or oldest shit she could see in Uriah's Heap
Bonus, married Wenclair headcanons:
- there's always a rookie detective that makes the mistake of crushing on Wednesday when she started assisting crime investigations and Enid hates it
- Since Enid is a fan of kung fu movies, I like to think that she's a big fan of martial arts actresses like Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock. 40's Enid has a pixie cut and no longer dyes her hair because it has damaged her hair, so when she was really sad about this, Wednesday cheered her up by saying "It makes you look like that Rothrock woman you liked watching".
(Rothrock is the white lady at the end of this video fyi. Also featuring Michelle Yeoh in the chase scene)
youtube
- Enid has a few simps because of her mild internet fame. Wednesday threatens them when they leave comments in her vlogs and Instagram posts ("i got the divorce papers ready bby just say the word" "YOU WILL START COUGHING IN THREE DAYS--")
- in the wedding, Yoko was Maid of Honor and Eugene was Best Man(or Man of Honor?). Pubert was the ring bearer. Later on, Yoko and Eugene are Vega's godparents(they also develop a rivalry over who is Vega's favorite)

Steve doesn’t wrap up in wool or thick clothes. It’s something that Eddie notices slowly but, the more he does, the more concerned it makes him.
He tries to point out that he should wear scarves, gloves, winter coats. He starts pointing out that Steve is shaking, any time he notices. He tries to be subtle, to gently coax him into taking better care of himself, but he never does.
“Here,” Eddie had snapped one day. He’d taken his own mittens off and grabbed Steves wrist before he could pull away.
“Don’t, Eddie, stop,” Steve had complained. It sounded more like petulant whining. “You’ll get cold!”
“Remember to bring your own then!”
Steve hadn’t taken the gloves off, thankfully, but he had been in a mood the rest of the day. He almost always had his arms crossed, sending glares Eddies way and pointedly looking at his hands.
It had been worth it though. Steve started wearing the gloves more. Eddie had to get a new pair, but he didn’t care. Steve was warmer.
And it worked the same with his scalf. He bought a new one before forcing his usual on Steve and, from then on, Steve started to wear that scarf as much as the gloves. He refused to admit it though, huffing that it was just to get Eddie off his case.
When Eddie tried to hand off a coat, though, Steve gave it back at the end of the day.
The next time Eddie tried, he also handed it back. The third time, Eddie wore a thick jumper so he wouldn’t have the excuse of Eddie getting cold on the way home again. Still, he gave it back.
“You know, you can keep this,” Eddie finally points out. “I have more than one coat. I’ve been trying to wear this one out anyway. Keep it.”
“No, uh, that… that’s ok.”
Eddie frowns at him, pushing the coat back towards him. “You need a coat, Steve, your flimsy jackets aren’t enough.”
“I’m fine, really.”
“Take the fucking coat, Steve.”
Steve ducks his head- which is what makes Eddie finally realize that it’s not the cold making his face go pink. “N-no, uh, just… I’m fine, really.”
“Steve? Why won’t you keep the coat?”
“You need it.”
“The real reason.”
“I don’t know,” Steve mutters, scuffing his foot against the floor, shrugging.
Eddie sighs, slipping the coat back on. “Alright. I’ll stop, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable.”
“What?”
“You can tell me, you know? I’m sorry if I made you feel like you can’t.”
“No, no, that’s not- that’s not it!”
“What is it, then?”
“They don’t…” Steve flushes a deeper red, turning away from him, crossing his arms. “They don’t smell like you anymore, ok?”
Eddie stares for a moment. “Huh?”
“The… the gloves and scarf. It- they don’t…”
“Oh.”
“Yeah. Sorry, it’s… sorry.”
Eddie blinks again. He’s pretty sure his brain must be melting out his ears, or he’s having a stroke, because there’s no way he’s hearing what he is. He must be misunderstanding.
“Eddie?” Steve finally looks back to him. “Have… have I made you uncomfortable?”
“They don’t smell like me,” Eddie echoes. “So… what you’re saying…?”
“You know what I’m saying,” Steve mumbles, running a hand nervously through his hair.
“No, no, I don’t. I really… my mind is going a mile a minute, Stevie, you need to spell this shit out.”
Steve shuffles, hesitating for a long moment. “I like wearing your things… because they’re yours. Because I like you.”
“... Alright.”
“Alright? What- is that it?”
Eddie quickly ducks down, grabbing a handful of snow and shoving it down the front of Steves shirt. He screams as he hurries to pull the snow out. He very quickly grabs his own snowball, trying to retaliate, but Eddie easily catches his wrist.
“I’ve been so worried about you being cold and catching hypothermia or some shit! Jesus Christ, Steve, I was about to start pulling my hair out.”
“Sorry?”
“You’re such a dumbass,” Eddie grumbles. “You could’ve just said you liked me too.”
“Too?” Steve perks up immediately, grinning.
“You’re insufferable.”
“But you like me?”
“Unfortunately, yeah. Yeah, Steve, I really like you.” Eddie shakes his head, laughing at Steves little victory fist pump. “Fuck, you’re a dork. Just for that, I’m taking you on a real shit first date. We’ll go to this run down little dinner, real greasy food, it’s some nasty shit.”
“Does this mean I can kiss you?”
Eddie tugs him closer with his own scarf so he can kiss him first, beating him to the prize.

Hi! Very personal peach stuff beneath the cut, don't like don't read. (tw for mental health and medication)
If you haven't figured it out by now, I am bipolar. I've talked about it here and there in very broad, non specified terms but haven't really done a post where I say it point blank because I just never felt the need, however, I do feel like we've built a pretty supportive, lovely community here and I wanted to explain where I am mentally and why updates might be lagging (as I've gotten a few messages asking about SM and DD). I also think it's important to you know, talk about it a little bit. When I was younger, I would have really liked to talk to someone who had their head on straight and lived a happy, fulfilled life on medication. I would've liked to talk someone who made it through. Maybe me talking about it will make someone feel less alone, or less scared (because once upon a time, I was fully fucking terrified). Or maybe it won't do anything, who knows.
Also, let me be clear: I am not ashamed of who I am or how my brain works, I just feel this has always been too personal to share on here. I'm starting to shift my perspective on the sharing bit, a little. Obviously.
Anyway, the winter to spring transition can be really rough if your brain is spicy like mine. I know most people love the days getting longer, the sun shining on their face, the sky turning brilliantly blue everyday, winter turns to spring and you might get a little bit of spring fever, a little bit excited, inspired, etc... and I feel that way too, except it makes it way too easy to roll upward into mania. It's like one stumble or fall- and the next thing you know you're falling down the rabbit hole. Mania is not some fun little day trip where you get bangs and stay awake until the sun comes up, it is not the romantic mood swing that some people think it is, it is dangerous and could potentially derail my life.
I am feeling particularly... "disrupted" this spring, and have been working really hard to keep the boat from rocking, so to speak. I am overall a very healthy, well managed person (on medication- that saved my life) but the boat is rocking a little bit, and things may need to be leveled out, or adjusted. It takes time and patience, and I am very grateful to have quality care (my psych is the best) that knows me very well and hears me out.
The good thing is I'm still writing little by little and hope to have updates for ongoing works up soon, and in the mean time, if you need someone to talk to, if you feel like you can relate to this, I'm here. I appreciate your patience and understanding in regard to the delay in updates!

To always meet again
Astarion - being as sneaky as the rogue he is - presents you wíth a present. Probably the best you could have imagined.
MASTERLIST | AO3
Author's Note: Written for the "Found Family" prompt of the BG3 Winter Holiday challenge and I'm putting it also down for "Ornaments". Alright folks, we're closing out the Winter Challenge with some big happy feelings! Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate and also lovely, peaceful days to everyone else!
Pairing: Astarion/GN!Tav (You) Warnings: none Wordcount: 2,2k ~~~
Astarion finally decided you’d had enough of a break and led you back home. Your former gloominess you found to your own surprise had subsided. The vampire really had figured out quite well, what might drag you out of a bad mood.
This time it had been taking you on a stroll through the snowy city and just blabbering away while you had eyed the massive snow drifts at the side of the roads, wondering if maybe throwing yourself in one would make your thoughts and anxiety stop racing.
But of course Astarion had noticed and stopped you. With a firm hold around your shoulders he had dragged you away from an especially tall heap of snow and mumbled something about how he hoped you’d know to behave like someone above the age of five.
That had annoyed you and made you pout. And after a while his grip on your shoulders had loosened again because he had believed you'd come to your senses - fool!
You had fallen a few steps behind while the vampire had kept rambling while still trying to distract you from your worries.
When he had been busy rattling off all the reasons why he thought you were incredible and why you shouldn’t worry as much, he’d realised that you weren’t beside him anymore. WIth searching eyes he’d turned around: “Love? Please don’t tell me you’re trying to drown yourself in snow - I’m not dragg-” The rest of the sentence had been interrupted by a snowball smacking the vampire straight in the face.
He had hissed at you angrily while you had simply cackled - which had made Astarion even more angry. Almost too quick for you to see had he then grabbed some snow himself and fired back with impeccable aim.
What had followed had been a fierce snowball fight with lots of laughter and teasing mockery - up until Astarion had grabbed you and dragged you down with him into a huge pile of snow, making you screech and then laugh. You had gotten what you had wanted after all.
Still laughing had you gotten up again and started to make your way home while trying to shake the snow off your clothes and out of your hair. Your face had become a lively pink colour and Astarion had gleamed with admiration and love.
But now as you stood at the steps to your front door you felt some of the worries and anxiety creep back up again. You felt a bit of weight settle uncomfortably in your chest again and you hesitated going up the steps as Astarion was already up and unlocking the door.
When your partner realised that you’d been hesitating he turned around to observe you standing there like a statue and biting your lip because the negative thoughts were already getting the better of you once more.
“My love, we’re not even back inside and all my hard work to cheer you up was already laid to waste? Look, I’m still covered in snow even!” Astarion pouted and stopped halfway through unlocking the door.
He was trying to lighten the mood but when you only looked at him with a pained expression the mocking glint in his red eyes softened.
He stepped down the couple of steps until he was on eye level with you again. His smile was genuine now.
“Darling, I promise you won’t have to worry”, he said softly and cupped your cheek that was tinted a light pink from the cold. Astarion’s thumb wandered over your cheek repeatedly, brushing your worries away one by one, while he looked at you with incredible gentleness in his eyes. It was one of those looks that had the power to make your heart stutter for a moment.
The vampire leaned forward, lightly lifting your face up to his and planted a quick kiss on your lips. And immediately when he broke away you grabbed his hand still cupping your face and then made to stand on your tiptoes again to steal a second kiss - this one longer and quickly becoming something chasing the cold from the weather away.
After a while Astarion withdrew while he was clearing his throat - was he flustered?
The vampire’s eyes flicked from yours to behind you and then quickly back to you. A nonchalant grin was already on his lips again.
But you smelled that something was going on. Your brows furrowed and eyes narrowed. You threw a glance over your shoulder but nothing was there - just your tall living room window with some ice creeping up its corners.
Or wait - you could see some light from the fireplace. That definitely hadn’t been lit when you had left. Had Gale started a fire?
Something was definitely fishy - and you weren’t particularly fond of it.
You turned back around and stared at Astarion judgmentally while putting your hands on your hips.
The vampire immediately became defensive: “What? What have I done now?”
“I don’t know yet, but I’ll preemptively let you know: I’m not up for jesting tonight, Astarion.”
Your partner snorted in offence and mirrored your pose while he pouted: “Why must you always be so judgemental, my heart? You didn’t get that from me, did you?” You saw the grin dragging up one corner of his mouth despite his offended tone.
With a quick step forward Astarion planted another small kiss onto the top of your nose - immediately you remembered a moment some weeks ago, when the first snow had fallen. The smile that now found its way onto your lips was inevitable as you were reminded of how you’d kissed a snow flake off the annoyed vampire’s nose.
“Everything will be quite alright, my love”, Astarion promised you with a big grin right then and there. And then with a wink turned fleet-footedly to take the few steps back up to the front door again. With a hand lightly placed on your back he pushed you along.
Astarion flung the door open wide and pushed you inside in a manner you found a bit overly dramatic - you were quite capable of walking back inside yourself.
And you were ready to tell your vampire as much when you realised there were people standing in your hallway - and quite a lot too.
“Uhm”, you helplessly made and took in the scene.
Before you stood each and every one of your companions - all beaming brightly at you. Well except maybe for Lae’zel who was wearing her perpetual snarl - but even that seemed softened right now as she looked at you.
All of them were here, cramped into the hallway up to the archway to the living room. You had turned into a statue once more, only capable of staring at all of your friends in surprise.
“Hey soldier”, Karlach said with an impossibly broad grin and then she simply stepped forward and enveloped you into an almost bone crushing hug, that lifted you straight off your feet. “I missed you so much!” the tiefling exclaimed while she pressed you against her own body.
You could barely breathe and were almost sure you heard her sniffle while she buried her face in your hair and softly swayed you from side to side, but you couldn’t be happier. Your heart was swelling with warmth and love as simultaneously all worry that had consumed so much of your energy today up until now was driven out of it.
When she set you down again the floodgates had been opened. Almost all of them took their turns wrapping you in their arms while Astarion closed the front door behind you and quickly helped you out of your cloak.
The smug grin on his face you noticed out of the corner of your eye before you got wrapped in another crushing hug by Halsin immediately told you that he had something to do with all of this. But for the moment you were busy happily greeting all of your friends.
Only when everyone had greeted you and the entryway of your cosy home was buzzing with chatter and laughter did you turn around to Astarion who in an uncommon manner for him had taken a step back and was just watching you and the others with a content smile.
“So, what’s your involvement in all of this?”, you asked your vampire while raising an eyebrow questioningly at him.
Immediately, Astarion started an overly dramatic act, behaving much more like you were used to again.
“Who? Me?” he asked and elegantly but with exaggeration placed his hand on his chest as if he was being accused of a dire crime.
You cocked your head at him.
Astarion simply shrugged as he began to grin again.
“I was just - you know me, darling - very convincing”, your partner replied while his grin became almost a bit predatory.
“Convincing, yes,” Lae’zel took up the conversation. You threw a glance at her over your shoulder and saw how she had narrowed her eyes at Astarion while the others around her were mostly busy with idle chatter.
“He threatened to gut us if we’d dare to not show up here for this ridiculous holiday festivity”, the githyanki hissed.
“Oh, Lae’zel, you’re so bitter. Don’t say it wasn’t an invitation after your own liking”, Astarion exclaimed cheerfully as he stepped up to you and put an arm around you. The githyanki just gave him another death stare while the vampire kept up his unfaltering smile.
“You also kept us waiting long enough”, Shadowheart chimed in with pursed lips. “And then on top of that you also made us watch you make out on the front steps,” she continued and you saw how her eyebrow jumped up in annoyance.
Your eyes widened and a blush crept onto your face as you realised that that must have been what (or rather whom) Astarion had seen when you had kissed on the front steps. The cleric just shrugged at your reaction and you saw that she was suppressing a laugh.
“Yeah, gods be damned, get a room, right?”, Karlach barged into the conversation and started laughing immediately while you felt your face grow even hotter. It had been a while since you and Astarion had been called out by your companions about your lovey-dovey behaviour. And obviously you weren’t used to it anymore.
“I’ll happily remind you, Karlach, that all of these are our rooms and you are merely guests here”, Astarion retorted while he wrapped his arm firmer around you and pressed a quick kiss to your lips and then - before you could even react - slapped your butt. Which earned him another howling fit of laughter from Karlach and some sensible chuckles all around while Shadowheart and Lae’zel looked ready to throw up.
Still in his embrace you felt how your face must’ve become even redder. You turned to Astarion, ready to wipe his smug grin off his face. But he swiftly stepped out of your reach.
“Apropos, guests, my love,” he began and quickly brought some distance in between you two.
“Don’t you want to invite our guests to sit down for dinner”, Astarion quickly continued and motioned towards your living room with an outstretched arm.
You were trying to protest - nothing was prepared there yet.
But when you stepped over your words died on your lips.
The living room looked like a winter paradise. Small mage lights were dancing all around the room making it sparkle. Holly, mistletoes and even whole fir branches seemed to have sprouted from the walls and the ceiling. And when you stepped into what you had thought was your living room you were irritated by the crunching noise that your footsteps made. Looking down you realised that the floor was covered in a layer of snow - even though you were inside. You could barely believe it.
The whole room looked almost like it had been teleported to a wintery forest. Only the furniture and the tall living room window with a view of the outside were reminders that you were still inside.
Your mouth fell open in disbelief. And then you took in the centre piece: in the middle of the room stood a huge banquet table decked with space for everyone, all the dishes you and Gale had prepared and lots more of wintery decor and candelabra that threw their warm light onto everything.
It looked magical and you immediately knew you had a certain wizard to thank for that - and of course your vampire who had made sure that everything would turn out perfectly.
The others who seemingly had already taken in the wondrously decorated room came swarming around you then, taking up spots at the table.
When Gale passed you, you shortly grabbed and squeezed his hand in passing to thank him. He winked back at you kind of awkwardly before he went to sit down.
For a moment you stood there and took in the scene while Astarion stood beside you, looping his arm around your waist once more.
All of your friends here, laughing, talking while the love of your life was by your side. This was absolutely the best of all possible outcomes. Your chest swelled with happiness and your eyes with tears as you took it in a moment longer before you turned to your soulmate who was softly and adoringly smiling at you.
“Thank you,” you whispered so silently it was almost inaudible.
“No,” Astarion whispered back and leaned in close, touching his forehead to yours, “thank you for everything that brought all of us here.”
And to that you had nothing more to add.

Winter in the apocalypse sucks.
The group had been on the road for months now, grieving the loss of the Greene Farm; the loss of safety. Which also means the group was going through the harsh winter without a whole lot of warmth. Abandoned shacks and small campfires can only do so much.
You had been cold for too long, and you were sure that Daryl had grown annoyed with you complaining about your frozen toes when you huddled up against him at night.
Worst of all was your mental health. Obviously there’s always an air of depression, (it is the end of the world) but your thoughts were getting dangerously close to “hey let’s jump off that bridge!”
You didn’t want to burden Daryl, but after his gentle prying, you reluctantly agreed to tell him your thoughts. He did his best to reassure you, and he held you a little tighter that night.
Finally, the group had found the prison, a place that could be a forever home after the walkers get cleared. The weather had warmed up too over the last few weeks, and it was finally starting to feel like summer.
It was a pretty calm day, most of the group decided to relax for a day outside before trying to get into the prison. You recall passing a pond not too far from the prison walls. Deciding it was warm enough for a swim, you grabbed a blanket and your knife.
“Where are ya goin’ with that?” Daryl stepped in front of you, nodding at the stuff in your hands.
“Swimming. Wanna come with? I need a bodyguard.” You suggest while smiling up at him.
He grunts out what you have come to know as “yes,” and grabs his crossbow. “Ya sure it’s warm enough?”
You shrug. “Don’t care, I’ve waited long enough.”
He must’ve read your mind because he leads you out past the walls and to the pond that you saw while traveling with the group. You both quickly survey the area for walkers, feeling relieved after there seem to be none.
You strip down to your underwear and toss a smirk over your shoulder to a blushing Daryl, then giggle and wade your way into the pond.
Taking a moment to pause, you admire the sun reflecting off the water. You felt so happy in the warmth of the sun that you could cry.
Daryl watches from a distance, smiling at the peace and happiness that seems to be radiating off of you. He knew you had a tough time on the road during the winter. He was worried about you, but now he’s just glad that you’re smiling.
You swim and float around the pond for about thirty minutes, and then decide that you want to lay on the grass to dry off in the sun. You sigh as the warm grass envelops you.
“Come join me?” You smiled up at Daryl who was sat on a rock.
“Thought I was yer bodyguard.” He said while walking over to you anyway. He found out a long time ago that he couldn’t handle denying you anything.
You giggle as he groans as he lays down next to you. You start to cuddle into him but he gently shoves you away.
“Yer soakin’ like a wet dog righ’ now, dry off first.”
You roll your eyes with a smile, but comply. While putting on your t-shirt, you spot a patch of wildflowers and gasp. You run over to them.
This makes Daryl sit up immediately and grab his knife, anxiety filling his veins. He then sees that you found flowers and relaxes.
Walking over to you, he scoffs. “Scared me half to death, girl.”
While you were smelling the flowers, Daryl crouched down and picked one. He gently moved your hair out of your face and tucked the flower behind your ear. You blush and kiss his cheek.
“I’m glad yer feelin’ better. Was worried ‘bout ya.” He looked away for a moment, then back into your eyes. “Don’t know what I’d do without ya.”
You felt your heart flutter. “Thank you for taking care of me.”
You hugged him tight and stayed like that for a while. You started to hum a song and swayed in his arms.
Daryl scoffs and loosens up so you can sway his body for him. “Whatcha doin’ girl?”
“Dancing with you, duh.”
He smiles and tucks his head into your hair. “Please never stop bein’ you, sunshine.”

15 Christmassy fics to read (or reread) this month
This rec list is for @annakendricks who sent an ask about Christmas reads and also dedicated to @lettersbyelise for supporting this idea 💜 Despite the winter blues, December will always lighten up my mood with the holiday spirit. This month has been pretty hectic for me but I can’t wait to get some time off and indulge my fave Christmassy rereads. Come and join me if you like! Here you’ll find a little bit of everything: soft and contemplative, smutty, crack-y, movie AU, holiday romance and even Gen fic, which is not my usual fare but fit the theme perfectly. Pick your flavour and Happy Holidays!
🎄A Christmas Happenstance by Only_1_Truth (E, 5.5k)
The Hogwarts School for the Gifted and Supernatural had classes year-round, but the dormitories emptied out regularly on holidays as if the students were suddenly becoming allergic to the walls. Both humans and non-humans mingled freely in the surrounding town of Hogsmeade. Draco Malfoy, however, isn't feeling in the mood after a rather spectacular break-up.
🎄A Charitable Christmas by Alisanne (E, 5.6k)
Hermione’s plans to raise money for war orphans do not meet with Harry’s approval. Fortunately, Draco steps in to help him come up with a much more enjoyable strategy.
🎄A Hippogriff for Christmas by @xanthippe74 (G, 6.4k)
Draco is desperately trying to fulfill four-year-old Scorpius’ dearest wish for Christmas: a visit with a real Hippogriff. Harry is desperately trying to be left alone, safely tucked away from the attention of the wizarding world as Hogwarts’ Keeper of the Keys and Grounds.
🎄Surviving the Horde by FleetofShippyShips (T, 7k)
Draco has managed to avoid Christmas at the Burrow for ten years, but not this year.
🎄Tidings of Comfort by @blamebrampton (G, 10k)
When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life. Luckily for Draco Malfoy, London has places where the tired can rest and recover.
🎄Love, Actually, is All Around by @punk-rock-yuppie (T, 10k)
It's Christmastime, and Harry has just started as the new Minister of Magic. It just so happens that Draco works in his office as well, a holdover from Kingsley's tenure. Naturally, love is in the air.
🎄break the bad luck in my life by seaworn (E, 12k)
Draco and Harry are both brooding on Christmas Eve.
🎄All Roads Lead Home by @dracogotgame (G, 15k)
Draco is strong-armed into spending the first Christmas after the War with the Weasleys. And Harry Potter.
🎄Love All Lovely by @shealwaysreads (T, 19k)
Draco comes home for Christmas, and discovers that sharing is the best way of celebrating old traditions, and new ones too.
🎄Waking Up Slow by @sweet-s0rr0w and @ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm (E, 22k)
'Twas the night before Christmas, although it’s July / Draco’s a shopkeeper, no-one knows why / There’s hiking and witch caves, freak snowfalls and more / Bad Christmas jumpers, nosy neighbours galore / Narcissa’s here too, but… something’s amiss / And what’s in those chocolates that’s making them kiss?
🎄I'll Floo Home for Christmas by jadepresley (T, 39k)
The Ministry Christmas party is the biggest event of the year and Harry absolutely does not want to plan it, and he certainly, one hundred percent, does not have a crush on Draco Malfoy.
🎄The Romantic Prawn Who Loved Christmas by @bixgirl1 (E, 39k)
When Draco, forced into sharing a room with Potter for the year, finds out that Potter has a sleepwalking problem, he expects the odd conversations and the weird games of chess. What comes as a complete shock are Potter's other activities...And why he seems so intent on having Draco join him.
🎄December Never Felt So Wrong by @maesterchill (E, 50k)
'Twas the month before Christmas and sixteen year old Draco Malfoy had never felt worse. His attempts to kill Dumbledore were failing and, as usual, Harry Fucking Potter was a constant thorn in his side. All that suddenly changed when Draco woke up 15 years in the future and discovered that not only was he allegedly shagging Harry Fucking Potter, he also had thinning hair and a five year old son, and no fucking clue how he got there.
🎄A Room Up There (And You In It) by @the-starryknight (T, 59k)
When Preservationist Draco Malfoy was assigned to work on Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place, he was excited to delve into the gorgeous Black family antiques. His excitement quickly ended when something in the House decided it did not like his presence one bit.
🎄All Must Draw Near by Saras_Girl (M, 61k)
Harry doesn't have time for rumours; he has a shop to run. Which is just as well, really.

Tara Carpenter x Female Reader (Scream Queen)
Warnings: mentions of murder, killing, death, slight angst, scars, dead bodies, tiny fluff, deep shit? Bad translation?
A/N: my dear I tried my best. I hope I understood what you meant with scream queen. If not. Text me I’ll make another story 😉 I think it turned out somehow dark. Also I really wrote not much between reader and the gang. I tried. But somehow it turned out like this. Hope you guys like it tho 🧡
Let’s heal together
I hissed lightly as I impatiently drank a sip of my fresh cocoa. I know… y/age and still drink cocoa? What can I say. This sweet soothing scent and the taste itself made me feel things that calmed me down for a few minutes. Once again, I took a deep breath through my nose when I took another small sip. I closed my eyes in torment. My tongue burned and tingled. It was like this sweet temptation to take it, but I couldn't let it go. Now I opened my eyes again and looked around the campus of Blackmore College.
"New city... new life" I whispered to myself as I wrapped the cup in which my cocoa was with both hands to warm it.
It was winter and the air was icy and pungent. I just hoped to reach the library quickly in order to be able to continue working on my work for the film course.
I put on my headphones after I could laboriously untangle the cables with one hand. Never in my life would I get AirPods, I would be too scared and definitely had too little money to be able to buy new ones if they thought they had to fall out of my ears.
So I stayed with my classic headphones that no longer had an aux connection but a USB c... crazy how everything changes I thought.
My free hand lights up red, the cold was too harsh. Trembling, I took out my phone and started a playlist with dramatic classical music.
Now I got closer to the library, the wind seemed to be my enemy. Hair strands were at the locations of my face that made me restless. When I arrived at the library, the warm air of the heating ventilation hit me. I sigh slightly as I straightened my hair and looked for a free place. In the end, I found a small table at the end of the library on which I could work undisturbed. Nervously, I repeated in my head
"Ignore them, they don't stare at you"
Nevertheless, I didn't leave the feeling of having been stared at by everyone. Was it the way I looked?
Was my hair weird? Were my eyes too conspicuous? Or was it my face in general? More and more I began to look for reasons.
Is it my look? My sweater? My jeans? Or maybe it was the shoes?
But I actually knew the real reason. Well... I suspected it.
They knew who I was. What my story was. Well... they at least only knew what the media told them.
In the end, I made it to the table at the end of the library. A dark wooden table with two chairs. I put my things down on one of the chairs and slowly sat down on the opposite one. Instead of looking through the corridor of the library again, I instead looked out of the window to my left and watched it start to rain.
I unpacked my iPad and started correcting the given "bad" script. We had received the task from our professor to correct a script.
Now time passed little by little. Students came and went. It didn't stop raining and slowly got dark outside, so the library was forced to turn on its warm lamps. I automatically felt safer and more secure. I always found it interesting how warm light represented a safe mood.
Suddenly I recognized a shadow in the corner of my eye.
I took out one of my headphones to better perceive my surroundings. To find out where this shadow came from, I looked over and made acquaintance with dark... no. Almost black eyes. Within seconds, I had noticed the person's face. A friendly and somehow sweet smile. Beautiful teeth. Dimples. And not to forget the light freckles on her nose and cheeks.
I could perceive all this within a few seconds and that even though I only looked into her eyes.
Eyes so dark that they were almost black. Eyes in which the light of the small lamp was already reflected on the table.
"Can I sit down with you?"
She asked and I easily lifted the corners of my mouth without really realizing it and took my coat and backpack directly from the chair to make her place.
As a thank you, she gave me an even wider smile back before she sat down and opened her laptop. Curious, I looked back to the large corridor of the library because I had wondered. Why did she want to sit here?
This question was answered with my look back to the hallway. It had become quite full in the library.
In silence, we both worked on our tasks without worrying about the other in the slightest.
Later, a gossiping mixed group of boys and girls ran past us.
"Looks like the freaks have found each other," one of the girls whispers and tells us condescendingly. With eyebrows pulled together and a concentrated look, I looked after them as they giggled and turned around again before they disappeared. What did she mean by that? I asked myself and still looked confused with working head after them even though they were no longer visible.
"Don't worry. They would never be able to understand us..." A soft voice tore me out of the trance.
"Hm?" I asked and my eyes landed on the girl sitting opposite me.
Her facial expression was gentle, yet there was a cheeky grin on her lips.
"To be the survivors..."
With a slightly tilted head, I looked at her and tried to understand.
"You... don't know?" She asked surprised and smiled even more broadly as if she had to laugh at this situation.
"What to know?" I asked calmly and slightly annoyed. She closed her laptop and stretched out her hand to me "Tara Carpenter by the way"
Confused but with slightly raised corners of my mouth, I took her in comparison to my dainty hand and shook her "Y/N Y/L/N"
When I did this, our eye contact began to become firmer and firmer and then I began to understand and my eyes widened in surprise "Tara? Oh..."
That was the moment I realized it.
She nodded and smiled forcedly before our hands separated from each other and her look became a little more serious "yeah..."
I sighed and looked at her facial features again this time... they looked so much different to me. Now that I knew who she was. What her stories were. Well the things I knew from the media only.
"I'm impressed..." I said gently with a look deeply lost in thought.
"I should be the one who is impressed. What you've been through..." she began, turning her gaze away and smiling as she sighed.
"Maybe... But you went through it twice... Try not to make yourself less strong" I said, smiling broadly.
"How small the world is..." I said and had to laugh slightly about it. So I was sitting here now. At a table with Tara Carpenter. Survivor of two Ghostface attacks.
Tara stood up on her chair as she put her arms on the table to prevent something "can I ask you something?"
I nodded and looked at her gently
"How did you deal with it? Some of us went to therapy... I tried to forget somehow... but I promised my sister to visit a therapist"
I sighed barely audible
"At first I had also tried to just forget it. But there are far too many things that remind me over and over again. Things that were once associated with good memories" thoughtfully I looked down at my iPad before I locked it.
I shrugged my shoulders
"If you know my weights... you can certainly imagine that I was forced into therapy from a certain point. To make sure I'm not crazy"
Tara nodded and something about her attitude and the way these Bambi-like eyes looked at me, I felt the feeling of being able to tell her everything.
It was now two years ago when my family was killed by my own father.
How I survived, It still was a mystery to myself today and how I didn't lose my mind all the more confusing. My family was never perfect. They were fighting here and there. They said worse things more often, but I never thought it would really come to one of these things. So it came to one thing at a time. A quarrel that degenerated... first my mother. I was glad that she didn't have to suffer... nevertheless, my mind couldn't understand that she wasn't there from now on. She wasn't there anymore because of a broken neck. I would never forget the look in my father's eyes. It was no remorse. No fear. It was darkness. Pure darkness. I was looking for shelter in one of the bedrooms. Heard the screams of my younger brother...
I took a deep breath to stop thinking about it. In order to no longer hear the screams, I changed the music. A song like once liked to sing together. In addition, we shot embarrassing lipsync video.
"How was it for you?" I whispered and looked up at Tara. Darkness. Eyes so dark that they looked black. After what my father did, I hated brown eyes. But Tara's eyes... they made me curious and thoughtful.
"Someone to kill who was actually close to you?" Tara asked, I nodded silently to answer her question.
After what my father did, I somehow managed to surprise and kill him. I was trapped in the house with the bodies of my family for 24 hours. It took me 24 hours to realize what happened. I needed 24 to understand that they would never come back. It took me 24 hours to understand that I was now also a murderer.
"Hard..." said Tara as our eyes parted and she looked down thoughtfully.
I nodded, "I think I can well imagine it..."
Tara looked up at me and nodded.
"It's hard to process it. Therapy is somehow always good. It at least calms the court or the police... but I guess everyone has to find out for themselves how best to process it..." I took a deep breath and looked down at my phone to look at the cover of the song that was currently playing.
"I try to repeat the good memories... over and over again in my head. Although they remind me of the bad at the same time... somewhere it helps. Somehow it calms me to know that I will never stop thinking about them..."
Tara nodded
"Maybe I'm getting too close to you and maybe that's very off topic now. But would you like a coffee? And talking about something that doesn't remind us of our messed-up life’s?"
I smiled and laughed dryly.
"That sounds good..."
From that moment on
I didn't know how my life would change. I didn't know that I would fall in love with eyes that were so dark and scary for me once. I didn't know I would live on. I didn't know I would create new good memories. I didn't know I would have a new family.
Days passed. Days became weeks and soon weeks became months.
If I didn't meet Tara at least once a week, we would write to each other day and night. At first I wasn't sure if it was good to be friends with each other, if we might be too toxic for each other. But it was the opposite. We lived on. We healed. We were there for each other. We understood each other without really talking about it.
"Are you coming over? The others would like to get to know you," Tara wrote to me at 8:00 in the evening. I hesitated with the message. However, I couldn't think of any reason not to go, as if I found myself 30 minutes later in front of Tara and Sam's apartment door. As soon as I knocked on it, I could perceive several voices. When the door opened, I met a broadly smiling and laughing Tara. I looked down a little shy. Her eyes, which once didn't have a great effect on me, made it harder and harder for me over the time when we became friends. At first I liked to look at them. Then I began to lose myself in my thoughts. Then I started to feel nervous. It usually started with goosebumps... which then turned into a tingling. Since then, I couldn't look her in the eyes for long without feeling like I was doing something that was probably wrong.
"I hope you're ready for a discussion about some movies" Tara began when she ran towards me and hugged me as a greeting. I replied to this lightly and said
"I don't care... I'll stay out of it"
Slowly I followed Tara into the living room and saw the remaining members of core 4.
I grinned broadly "wow the core 4. Can I get autographs?"
Mindy laughed and looked at me proudly "I already like her. Come here Y/n"
I sat down slightly shyly next to Mindy and was drawn into the discussion between Barbie and Oppenheimer without wanting to.
"Mindy go easy on her," said Sam with a head-shaking smile on the armchair. I sighed and my gaze fell to chad "go ahead Y/n what do you think? As a film student"
I leaned back on the couch and began "that the message behind the Barbie movie is great, we don't have to discuss any further... Oppenheimer is purely cinematic a must for itself. That's all I'm saying about it" Tara grinned broadly and threw the pillow that was lying next to Y/n on chad before she dropped next to her "see Chad. We told you"
We discussed different films throughout the evening and got to know each other in between.
Mindy put her arm around Y/n and asked with a slightly dirty grin "are you staying the night? We want to make a spontaneous trip to coney island together tomorrow"
Y/n didn't quite understand the combination of Mindy's body language and the question and was a bit overwhelmed to answer directly.
"Y/n doesn't like sleepovers," Tara said relaxed. When y/n looked at Tara and caught her heart beating faster, Mindy gave Tara a look that meant something like "shut up, I'm trying to clarify things for you here" which Y/N of course didn't see.
"Is there a specific reason?" Sam asked seriously while she let all the scenarios go through her head.
Y/n shrugged her shoulders
"I don't like sharing beds or being not able to sleep in my own bed in general"
"Tara and Sam have a free room... you could sleep in there..." said Chad and tried to help Mindy to convince y/n to sleepover. What Tara didn't knew was that Mindy, Chad and even Sam were pretty sure that Tara and Y/n shared some unspoken feelings for each other but things were going so slow between them. So they tried to help.
"The room where your ex roommate lived in? The one who you know? Tried to kill you guys?" Said y/n and laughed slight
"No thanks..."
To everyone's surprise, Tara said quite relaxed "You can sleep in my bed..." all eyes fell at her and Tara seemed to notice why she added in her sentence "I sleep in Quinn's room of course then"
After a short discussion and the persuasion skills of the core 4 Y/n found herself in Tara's room again.
She watches Tara pick clothes to sleep for her.
"You know that you don't have to stay here if you don't want to," said Tara and handed y/n the clothes. Their hands brushed lightly and y/n turned around to put the clothes on. Tara did the same. Both had turned their backs on each other when they put on their pajamas.
"It's okay. For once, I feel really comfortable with someone else. I like to stay," said
y/n after she pulled up her pants. Tara was so surprised by this answer that she turned around and asked "really?"
Y/n laughed and turned around. Both stood in front of each other in only pants and bra.
"Of course..." she said as if it had been obvious. Tara's gaze wandered briefly over y/n free upper body before she looked into her eyes "I also feel comfortable with you".
Now y/n look also wandered over Tara's upper body and it was the first time she got to see the scars other than the one on Tara's hand.
Out of intention y/n stretched out her hand and touched one of Tara's several scars. She had looked at the scar slightly above her hip and stroked it lightly and carefully with her fingertip.
At that moment, Tara's gaze wandered again over y/n upper body. Near her collarbones she got to see a scar and now stroked it slightly herself.
When y/n took Tara's touch, her whole body began to feel like a burning object. Y/n stopped in her own touch, yet her fingertips lay on the slightly raised and lighter area of Tara’s skin.
Slowly she looked back into the dark eyes. So dark that it reminded her of espresso or the night sky that she liked to look at when the full moon was out.
She slowly put her hand around Tara's waist while Tara's slowly wrapped around her neck.
"I also feel safe around you" y/n whispered as she pulled Tara so gently that it almost felt like slow motion. Only now did she realize how big the difference between the two was. Because when their body was only a few centimeters away from each other, she saw Tara look up at her.
"Me too" whispered Tara with a slight smirk while pulling y/n closer by her neck and then y/n began to lean in and closed her eyes. Tara also closed her eyes and began to feel y/n nose brushing slight hers before their lips touched gently. For a few seconds their lips touched before they pulled away to look into each others eyes. Without saying any words their eyes spoke for themselves. Soon they leaned back in and kissed. Kissed each other softly and slowly.
They weren't toxic. They weren't freaks.
They were connected by a dark and suffering past. They were meant to pass each others path so they could care and give eachother the love they needed.
The love of someone who understood.

Over Mountains Cold
Tumblr media
Kili Durin x Reader
Words: 4931
Summary: On a quest for your family, you and your traveling companion get caught in a winter storm in the Grey Mountains. Your true feelings for your best friend come to light when you struggle to make it through the chilling night.
Notes: The heater in my room is broken and the image of cuddling with Kili to get warm is just really nice to me, okay? I will use Aidan Turner to dissociate before I contact ever maintenance. (also, why can’t I just write fluff? Why does there have to be the angsty backstory of losing siblings? The world may never know)
Warnings: Kind of a chaotic plot. An ungodly amount of sexual tension. I don’t make the rules.
-
Fili gave a final wave as he disappeared over the ridge, taking the ponies with him. His brother tried to calm the pit in his stomach. Not only was Fili off to retrieve more supplies alone, but the cold was setting in. If he didn’t make it to the next village by the time the snow started, he would get stuck out here.
Just like you were.
“We should go,” You sighed. “We’ll want to set up camp before it gets dark and I want to search the foothills to the east before the sun goes down.”
Kili looked up at the sky. “It’s going to be a cold night.” Already, his breath came out in puffs from his lips. “Maybe we should stay here until morning. It’s lower, so it’ll be warmer and the snow hasn’t reached us yet.”
You stiffened and turned determined eyes towards him. “I won’t waste any time. If there’s a chance of finding my sisters out here, I’m taking it.”
You waited for him to argue or tell you how foolish you were. Winter was on the horizon and these mountains would be impassable in the coming weeks. But your friend merely gave you a small smile and put a hand on your shoulder.
“Then lead the way.”
You wanted to kiss him. Well, you often wanted to kiss him, but in that moment, with his eyes full of trust and belief in you, no words could express your gratitude. But, coward that you were, you settled for a pat on the arm and an awkward nod.
“Right. Follow me.” You hurried away from him before you could do something stupid.
You’d known the dwarven princes for most of your life. Having grown up near the Blue Mountains, you spent a lot of time with Durin’s folk, listening to their stories, celebrating their festivals, and causing a little chaos with your two closest friends. You couldn’t count the times Kili and Fili had gotten you into some kind of trouble, but surely they would say the same thing about you.
The younger prince walked beside you, telling you legends of ridiculous creatures living in these hills, trying to make you smile. It worked, of course. Between his grin and a bit of theatricality, he never failed to lighten your moods.
Kili was your best friend. He was there for every prank, every adventure, and every heartbreak. When your village was attacked by raiders three years ago, he spent weeks tending to your injuries and trying to hunt down the people who’d hurt you.
That’s when they were taken. Your two older sisters, Maryina and Baeriel. Sometime during the battle, those foul men came to your home and stole them away. You were nearly killed trying to defend them. Everyone told you they were dead. Even your parents didn’t have the heart to keep looking after so long, but you wouldn’t give up. You knew they were alive. Kili was the only one who believed you.
“Do you remember what you told me?” You asked suddenly.
Kili turned his head, hazel-brown eyes bright in the afternoon sun. His brows furrowed with curiosity.
You elaborated. “When I said I was going to find them. I said I’d search the whole of Middle Earth if I had to. What did you say?”
Kili beamed. “I said ‘Well, you’re not doing it without me,’” he remembered. “‘You’d get lost.’”
“Exactly,” you laughed. “And, I do believe that you lead us down more a stray path than I, dear friend.”
“But we always found our way in the end, didn’t we?” Kili grinned.
“That we did.”
The two of you fell back into a comfortable silence with something heavier hanging between you.
Grass swayed with dying breaths, green turned to dry white. Ahead, towering peaks capped with snow loomed like a massive, foreboding gate. You watched them with growing unrest. Kili’s shoulder brushed against yours as you walked as if just to remind you he was there.
The afternoon stretched and yawned. The sun began to hover. With every passing hour, the more the light sank, so did your hopes. Your search in the foothills yielded nothing. Not even the remnants of a possible settlement.
“They aren’t here,” you said. You ran a hand down your tired face, eyes scanning the vast landscape, the mountains at your back. You turned to Kili. “What if…”
You’d come here on a rumor that the raiders who took your sisters had a base in the Grey Mountains. But that’s all you had to go off of- rumors.
“It’s the first day.” He gave you a reassuring smile. “We’ll keep looking.” Kili scanned the dense woods at the base of the mountains, hoping for some signal of smoke or any other sign of life. There was nothing. But he wasn’t going to give up hope and he certainly wasn’t going to let you. “Come, let’s set up somewhere to sleep. You must be exhausted.”
“I’m fine,” you grumbled. “But if you’re saying you need to rest, then I suppose we can pitch the tent.”
He rolled his eyes playfully.
“Last one to the trees gathers firewood,” he challenged. The mischievous dwarf took off before you had the chance to process what he said.
“Hey!” You called after him and ran as fast as your legs could carry.
-
Usually, the three of you always camped out under the stars, but knowing how cold it would be, you brought a tent to provide a little shelter. But laying there, so close to him, the fabric barrier between you and the night sky seemed suffocating.
It wasn’t the closest you’d ever been, of course. There had even been some nights where you found yourself asleep on his shoulder after a long day or he would doze off with his head in your lap. There was just something about this- something about the two of you enclosed together, alone- that felt different.
You laid completely still, screwing your eyes shut, but your mind refused to rest. The form beside you shifted back and forth, twisting and turning. Kili grunted in frustration and turned onto his back.
“Y/N?” He whispered. “Are you awake?”
“Unfortunately.”
He blew out a breath. “We should sleep. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow. We’ll have to find some food in case Fili gets holed up somewhere.”
You hummed and nodded.
Both of you stared up at the slanted ceiling of the tent, not moving and not speaking. The tension alone chilled you to the bone, making you shudder.
“Are you cold?” Kili asked.
“I’m fine.”
“Are you sure, because I have an extra fur-”
“Kili, go to sleep.” You huffed, shifting to your side away from him so he couldn’t see the painful want in your eyes.
Kili was more than just your best friend to you. He was your first love, the only person you’d ever loved, really. You’d had suitors in the past ask for your hand, but you declined them all. Your heart was no longer yours to give away. But you could never bring yourself to tell him. He was a prince, after all, and what were you? A nobody.
You blinked away tears and curled up as close to the tent’s wall as possible.
So close together and yet you couldn't feel more distant.
-
The next day yielded even less results. The further you got into the mountains, the less hope you had that you were going in the right direction. The Eastern Pass took you higher in elevation and further away from Fili with the supplies.
“Wait.” Kili stopped suddenly, putting a hand out in front of you. “Listen.”
You halted, the frostbitten ground shifting beneath your boots. At first, the slight breeze was all you could detect, but as the forest stilled, the subtle yet clear sound of hooves carried on the wind.
And they were getting closer.
“Get down.” You grabbed the collar of his coat and pulled. The two of you tumbled into a bush, losing your balance in your haste. Kili hit the ground. You fell onto his chest, knocking the breath out of both of you.
Kili grimaced.
“Sorry,” you whispered. Your faces turned a similar shade of pink, both trying to hide it from the other.
The familiar thudding against the forest floor increased in speed and volume. From your position, you could just see through the foliage that kept you hidden.  Kili craned his neck, blindly trying to get a glance.
“Can you see them?” He asked.
“Shh.”
You kept your head low as you stared out. Watching. Waiting. As the horses neared, you decided there couldn’t be more than three.
“We could take them,” you whispered, looking down. But the sight of Kili lying beneath you, hazel-brown eyes staring up into yours with his hair a mess below him was too much. It sent a burning, twisting feeling through your stomach. You looked back up at the road. “There aren’t many. We could fight and force them to tell us where they took my sisters.”
“Are you mad?” Kili hissed, shifting underneath you. His hips rocked up into yours by accident. He sucked in a breath. “It could be innocent travelers going through the mountains. Or worse, there could be a dozen fighters and we’d be dead in seconds.”
“Since when are you the cautious one?” You scoffed, ignoring his movements and prepping yourself to pounce.
Kili locked his arms around your middle and rolled. He had you on your back before you could stop him, pinning you to the forest floor with his hands on either side of your head.
“Since I’m trying to keep you from getting yourself killed,” he growled.
Relieved that your hips were no longer pressed against his, Kili had put himself in another predicament hovering over your body, his lips mere inches from yours.
It shamed him to think of how many times he’d imagined you like this.
He waited until the riders were past, counting three, just as you said, but they seemed only to be a father and his two children, both under the age of 16. Kili doubted that these were the raiders who had destroyed your home. One of them mentioned something about getting over the pass before the storm, which made him uneasy.
Despite the heat of your bodies, the air was indeed growing colder. Clouds were gathering and a crisp, cool scent hung in the air.
Kili stood and held out a hand to help you up.
You didn’t take it.
“We need to keep moving.”
He swallowed. “We should head back to lower grounds. If we get caught in the pass, who knows how we’ll get out.”
You didn’t look at him. Instead, you continued up the path. “I wasn’t asking.”
-
Kili walked behind you, neither saying a word. He saw the tension in your back shifting like you were already in battle. He only wished he could relieve at least some of the weight that bore down on your shoulders. Witnessing you in such pain hurt him more than he knew how to express. That, unfortunately, wasn’t the only thing he struggled to put into words.
It had taken Kili long enough to finally admit his feelings for you to himself, but it was taking even longer for him to admit them to you. Fear wasn’t something that usually stopped him- he’d faced trolls and orc packs a dozen times over- but the idea of jeopardizing his friendship with you frightened him to no end.
Still, lying there, pressed against you, had drummed all of those feelings up to the front of his mind. They distracted him from the real issue at hand and he tried to remind himself that you need him focused. You needed a warrior, not a love-sick errand boy.
“If we keep at this pace, we can make it through the pass by morning,” you said grimly.
Kili exhaled, his voice deep with concern. “Y/N, you need to rest.”
“I need to find my sisters.”
You kept walking.
Kili kept his arguments to himself. Starting a fight now would only make you angrier and he didn’t want to risk you going off alone.
He let out a low sigh. Being the responsible one was exhausting.
Kili watched the sun with a concerned eye and discomfort growing in his stomach. His breath appeared in a cloud from his lips. But worse, flecks of white sent panic up his spine. The snow speckled the branches of the pines around them and added to the already thick blanket of frost that coated the ground. The further up, the deeper the snow banks.
“These flurries won’t be flurries for long,” he warned.
“We’ll make it.”
You refused to turn back to look at him. If you did, you knew that one look at his face would make you forget your persistence. You would turn around and head back down the mountain and have to start all over again in the morning. So you kept your eyes ahead, despite the growing shiver down your spine.
Besides, it was only a little snow. You and the brothers had faced worse on numerous occasions.
Kili quickened his pace to take his place beside you again.
“This way,” he said. “I’ve heard a shortcut through this pass.”
You raised a brow. “You’ve heard of one?”
“We’re here based on a rumor, aren’t we?” He retorted.
You shrugged as if to say ‘fair enough.’
Kili took the lead as the air thickened with white flakes. The shortcut, while it existed as far as he knew, was not the true purpose of his change in direction. He’d read journals telling tales of adventures through these mountains and he remembered a checkpoint for many. A cave where they could take shelter from winter storms. He only hoped it was real.
You began to regret your stubbornness as the cold seeped through your coat, the snow falling thicker and thicker, decreasing your visibility until you could see but a mere few feet in front of you.
In a blink, the blizzard set in.
You trudged on. Eyes blinded by white, you walk straight into the mass in front of you. Your companion’s warmth drew you in and you couldn’t help but press yourself against his back. His arm wrapped around, searching for yours.
“Take my hand!” Kili called back to you.
You did so without hesitation, wincing at the chilled state of his skin.
“We’re nearly there!” He shouted over the wind.
“That’s impossible! We haven’t even made it through the pass!”
“You’ll see.”
Trust was the only thing you had left, your senses overtaken by the storm. And then suddenly, it stopped. Kili pulled you forward and the choking white curtained the opening of the cave behind you. Wind howled, but no longer deafened.
“You knew this was here?” You gasped through chattering teeth.
Kili gulped. “I hoped.”
“You hoped?”
“You kept going!” He held out his hands, fingers stretched and shaking with his words. “I didn’t know what else to do!”
“Nevermind. It doesn’t matter.” You ran a hand down your face, wincing at the freezing surface of your own skin, as well as the exhaustion overtaking your features. You paced back toward the blinding white outside. “We’ll stay here until the storm blows over and then we’ll keep going.”
Standing at the opening of the cave, the wind still chilled you to the bone. Still, you watched, as if your sisters would magically appear and welcome you into their warm arms.
As the image passed through your mind, you were gently pulled away from the wind by a hand as cold as yours, and yet it sparked the warmth that you needed. Kili placed a hand on your cheek, turning your face to his.
“You’re exhausted,” he said. “We cannot afford to be careless. Not out here. We’ll go out again in the morning. You need to rest.” Before you could argue, he added, “We both do.”
With the fog of determination outweighed by fatigue and frost, you sighed in defeat, hanging your head.
“Alright,” you conceded.
Kili put a finger under your chin and lifted your eyes. He gave you a small smile to which you couldn’t help but reciprocate.
“Come on. We should set up the tent. It might not be much, but it can’t hurt.”
Your chattering teeth gave no argument. There was no wood for a fire, the smoke would fill the small space anyway, so the thin cloth was your only added defense against the cold.
Once inside, you both felt the same pull towards each other, your bodies craving the heat of another. But you stayed on the far side, as far as you could get, mind clouded by icy, frozen fear. Kili didn’t say anything, trying to ignore the ache in his chest as he tried to sleep.
Your eyes couldn’t have been shut for more than a moment when you heard them.
“Y/N!”
“Y/N! Where are you?”
You blinked to clear the tiredness from your eyes and listened.
“It can’t be,” you whispered.
“Y/N! Y/N!”
Maryina and Baeriel.
You listened again.
“We’re here! Help us!”
Your sisters. They were out there. They were trapped in the storm. They needed you.
You sat up, tossing aside the coat you’d been using for a blanket and ignored the bitter air seeping through your tunic. You didn’t feel it. You didn’t see your companion sleeping across from you. You didn’t hear the wind as you stepped out of the tent. You only heard your sisters’ cries…
And stepped out into the blizzard.
-
Kili twisted and turned. As hard as he tried, sleep never stayed. He dozed off only to drift back, trying not to shiver.
“I can’t sleep again,” he sighed. Kili flipped onto his other side. Rubbing his tired eyes, he opened them. The bundle of furs beside him took an odd shape.
Empty.
“Y/N?”
He sat up and reached across the tent, feeling nothing but frigid air. Kili lifted his head, panic banishing any exhaustion left in his limbs.
The untied opening of the tent flapped in the wind.
“Y/N!” He called out.
The storm screamed in response.
He scrambled out of his bedroll and sprinted into the night. Fat, white flakes stuck to his face and eyelashes no matter how much he blinked them away.
“Y/N!” He shouted again.
Kili walked, trying to keep the cave in sight. The blizzard raged around him, concealing even the silhouette of the trees. He cried out your name again and again. With every passing second of silence, his chest grew tighter.
Why would you have gone off alone?
What if something had taken you?
There was no way for Fili to reach the cave until the storm settled, which meant he was completely and utterly alone.
“Y/N!”
It felt like hours before the wind let up and even then, snow continued to fall and the air turned even colder, creeping down Kili’s neck like a thousand icy-legged spiders.
There, in the distance, he could just make out a shape, wandering and covered in a thick, frozen blanket.
Kili ran as fast as his aching legs would allow, his boots sliding on the ice-coated ground. No matter how loud he shouted, it was as if you couldn’t hear him. You trudged on, the snow almost reaching your knees. You didn’t even have your coat. If he didn’t get you out of this cold, you would surely be lost to the white nothingness that surrounded you.
“Y/N, what are you-” Kili moved to grab your arm and found that your eyes were closed. Ice stuck to your face where tears had fallen and your blue lips muttered the same two things over and over again.
“Maryina…. Baeriel….”
Kili’s heart shattered like an icicle falling to the earth.
“Y/N, love, wake up,” he pleaded, gently taking hold of your shoulders. He had to stop himself from recoiling. Even through your tunic, you were like a statue, freezing to the touch. “We need to get back to the cave. I need to get you to a fire. I need to get you warm.”
Already, you looked like a walking corpse.
But your eyes were starting to open.
“K-Kili?” You muttered through chattering teeth. “What’s going on? I’m so…” You stepped forward, falling against him. “I’m so cold.”
Kili didn’t hesitate. He scooped you up into his arms, holding you tight against his chest. He followed his own footprints as they were slowly being covered again by the falling snow. By some miracle, he made it back to the cave. He hurried into the tent, wishing he had the material for a fire. For now, all he had was hope.
“I heard them,” you said, still dazed. “I heard their voices calling to me in the storm.”
“And you followed it?” He gasped, quickly undoing the fastens of his coat. “Are you mad? Even if they were out there, you’re no good to them frozen to death.”
Kili shrugged out of his coat and wrapped it around your shoulders.
“No, Kili.” You tried to push him away, but he was stronger, fueled by panic and determination. “Kili, you’ll freeze.”
“I’ll be fine,” he said harriedly. He tied the entrance of the tent to keep out the frigid wind and laid down, gently pulling you along with him. Kili rubbed his hands up and down your arms, careful to keep the heap of furs wrapped tightly around you. He held you against his chest, his tunic slightly undone so you could feel the heat of his skin against your cheek.
As his warmth broke through the icy surface that suffocated your entire body, your mind started to clear. It started to wake up.
And when it did all you could see was his wide, golden-brown eyes searching yours with a fire you’d seen a few times before. Once when you’d been separated from him and his brother for a week on a particularly stressful journey and the other when your village was attacked and your sisters were taken. Each time, he looked as though he was looking at the sun for the first time.
At the time, you didn’t understand, or perhaps you didn’t let yourself understand. You understood now what that fire meant.
He was, and would always be, your shelter.
Like magnets, you somehow were drawn together still, despite already being impossibly close. The air between you was hot with your breathing. Everything seemed to stand still, from the raging winds outside to the racing heart inside your chest.
Neither of you said a word, an entire conversation held simply in the lock of your gazes.
Kili’s hand cradled the back of your head, laying it against his chest. You felt the soft, sweet warmth of his lips on your forehead.
Despite the hauntings of your mind, your heart gave you leave to rest in the strength and comfort of Kili’s embrace, allowing both of you to slip back into the persistent reach of slumber.
-
The storm blocked the pass by morning and, without any equipment, there was no way to get over. It had all been for nothing.
Fili found you halfway back down the mountain, the pony’s back covered with more supplies.
“What happened to you two?” He asked.
“We couldn’t find them,” you snapped, hurrying ahead of both of them.
Fili turned to his brother.
Kili shook his head.
Your party of three traveled until you found the nearest tavern and the boys made you stop for the night, watching exhaustion seep into your every step.
Dinner was had in silence with an air hanging so thick that Fili felt he would choke on it. He could never imagine the two of you fighting- he knew that his brother would never forgive himself if he ever hurt you. But he also knew Kili’s true feelings towards his best friend and Fili couldn’t help but wonder if something had been revealed while he was gone.
“We’ll start up toward the northern villages in a few days,” Kili said. “It’ll give us some time to rest, regroup, and plan.”
You stared at your plate. “What’s the point?”
Both turned to you.
Kili’s eyes softened. “Y/N, you don’t mean that.”
“They’re gone, Kili.” You blinked back tears. “We could search until the end of time and we still wouldn’t find them.”
“Then to the end of time we will look because I am not giving up,” he insisted. His dark eyes took on that glimmer from last night, igniting something within you.
Your nightmare wasn’t the only thing that frightened you.
“I’m going to my room,” you said, pushing away from the table. Your form disappeared up the stairs with the gaze of both princes trailing after you.
Kili sighed, running his fingers through his long, dark hair.
“You just going to let her go?” Fili scoffed.
“What would you have me do?”
Fili shook his head and took a drink of his ale.
Kili narrowed his eyes. “What?”
His brother raised a brow. “Y/N is the most stubborn, persistent, devoted woman I’ve ever met. She isn’t giving up on looking for her sisters. She’s worried about continuing the search with us.”
“What?” Kili exclaimed. “What are you talking about?”
“Kili, brother,” Fili sighed. “I’m saying maybe my absence was exactly the two of you needed and you’re both still avoiding what I’ve seen for as long as we’ve known Y/N.” He finished off his ale and snatched Kili’s away before he could protest. “Now go talk to her.”
Kili swallowed, staring at the steps. It took one final shove from his brother to actually get him to stand up and move.
As he ascended the stairs, Kili thought about everything Fili had said. What did he mean, his absence was what you two needed? What did he know that Kili didn’t?
Of course, the younger prince knew exactly what his brother meant. He’d always known, even when he didn’t know how to admit it. But waking up in that tent, the panicked thoughts of you out in the storm, alone, the terror of losing you to the ice and snow, and holding you in his arms to keep you warm all revealed exactly what had been in his heart all these years.
He loved you.
Perhaps Fili was right.
Maybe it was time to finally tell you.
Kili found your room and stood before it for a good long while. He tried raising his hand to knock, but he was just… frozen in place.
What if this was a mistake?
What if decades of friendship fell apart in this moment?
What if-
The door opened and his heart stopped.
You startled back at the sight of his big brown eyes. The eyes you hadn’t been able to stop thinking about. The ones you wanted to get lost in and never be found. And he was there, waiting for you.
You both opened your mouths to speak and stopped, waiting for the other person, leaving you both in a tense silence. The same tension from the tent. The one that drew you together, closer and closer.
“Kili, I-”
His lips caught yours, silencing the words you still weren’t sure how to say. You let your hands tangle in his hair, pulling him closer, closer still if that was even possible. Every moment, every breath from the last few days had been leading to this. And all either of you could think was one word.
Finally.
And as Fili watched you pull Kili into your room, kicking the door closed behind him, he was thinking the same thing.
“Finally,” he muttered, shaking his head as he went to his room, glad to have it to himself for a change.
-
Kili’s lips brushed against your forehead, the rest of your body completely tangled with his. Your arms wrapped around his bare chest, your legs wound between his, and your head was tucked under his chin. Your naked skin burned against each other but you never wanted it to stop.
And between every sigh, every pleasured cry or whispered word came one phrase. I love you.
He said it again, now. “I love you.”
You turned to look up at him. Into those eyes. The gaze that captured you more and more every time.
“And I you,” you said, kissing his collarbone, then his jaw, then finally his lips. “I have loved you ever since you taught me to shoot an arrow through the apples on our tree.”
Kili grinned, deepening the kiss and moving so his face hovered over yours.
“I’m still not giving up, you know,” he whispered. “We will find your sisters. And we will do it together.”
You wrapped a brown curl around your finger and nodded.
“I know. Before, I was just… scared.” You turned your head away. “That storm took me to a place I don’t want to go again.”
Kili laid a hand on your cheek, bringing your eyes back to his. “I’ll keep you safe.” He kissed your forehead again. “I promise.”
After letting the seriousness of your words settle for a moment, you grinned mischievously and rolled so that you straddled him.
“We should have tried this sooner,” you smirked.
Kili laughed and rolled again, putting him back above you. “It’s certainly a good way to stay warm.”

Dbf!Jim Hopper x Black Reader
Warnings: Age gap (18 & 40+), breeding kink (kinda), dad's best friend, unprotected piv, blowjob
Katydids fill the dark street with a calming ambience as you walk. The only other sound being the click-clack of your purple heels. You had already walked half a mile and your legs are close to giving out when you hear a car coming up behind you.
"Might as well hitchhike the rest of the way," you whisper under your breath, sticking out your thumb towards the car. As it gets closer you notice that it's not a regular car, but the Chief of Police's Chevy. The car slows in front of you and the passenger window lowers. A scowling Jim Hopper meets your thankful gaze.
"What're you doin' out this late, sweetheart?" Hopper questions, a frown plastered on his face.
"I could ask you the same thing, officer," you tease, trying to avoid the fact that you had committed several acts of underaged drinking and drugs. Hopper's unamused expression lets you know his mood is even worse than usual. "Can I hitch a ride home?"
"Not tonight, I don't have the time for your antics," Hopper responds.
"Pleaseee hopper??I won't be able to go to the winter formal if my dad grounds me!" You whine.
A sigh escapes the Chief's lips before he unlocks the passenger side door. You trot your way over to the car and get in without a second thought. The car starts back up with a hum and heads twenty minutes out of town to your ritzy neighborhood.
The silence filling the car is almost deafening. You try to fight back the urge to speak, fidgeting in your seat, but your mouth won the battle over your brain.
"So what's got your panties in a twist? You're usually less of an asshole," you tease him with a poke on the cheek.
"I'm fucking peachy," Hopper responds, turning to you with a death glare.
"And what's with the get up? You look like you're going on a vacation," you say, finally noticing his Hawaiian shirt and casual jeans.
"Can you just shut it? I'm not in the mood for this tonight!"
You quiet down for a moment, the smile you had falling from your face. "Sorry, can you just not tell my dad you found me tipsy on the side of the road?"
"I'm not covering for you kid, you're a smart-ass, bad-ass brat who always wants her way because she has daddy's money! So shut up and let me drive goddamnit!"
A muttered insult escapes your lips as you turn away from Hopper, crossing your arms over your chest.
"Alright, that's it!" Hopper yells, apparently hearing your insult.
The car suddenly turns off the main road into a wooded area. You whip your head around, trying to figure out where you are. The car stops in a clearing in front of a small stream.
"Hopper?" You question, looking around the wooded area.
"I'm so sick of spoiled little girls in this town thinking they can do whatever they want just because their daddy's rich," Hopper rants, turning off the car.
You can't help but laugh. Your dad's closest friend giving you a lecture about being spoiled wasn't a new thing, but dragging you to the middle of the woods just to yell at you was comical.
"Oh please, you can't fix my attitude. Dad has tried and failed for years."
"He hasn't tried my technique."
"Whatever." You roll your eyes and turn away from Hopper. Suddenly Hopper grabs your neck with a firm grip.
"I think it's high time someone taught you how to shut up," Hopper gruffly whispers only two inches away from your face.
A part of your brain knew that this was fucked up. But an even deeper part of you had fantasized about this late at night. Touching yourself at the thought of Hopper's warm breath grazing your neck, placing rough kisses anywhere he could.
"Okay, Chief," you tease.
Hopper releases your neck and relaxes in his seat. His legs spread apart to reveal his growing bulge. A loud gulp comes from your throat as you stare. You'd never done something like this before and your nerves were betraying you.
"Unzip it," Hopper says. His eyes are looking at the zipper on his washed out jeans.
You move closer to the Chief with caution. Once you're right next to him, he lights a cigarette and places it between his teeth. Hopper rolls the window down before the truck fills with smoke. Your hand moves your lap to his and makes its way up to his crotch.
His erection is firm and much bigger than you expected. Hopper is silent as you unbutton his pants and pull down the zipper. Your hand moves with a mind of its own as it pulls Hopper cock free from his briefs.
Precum leaks from his light pink tip. You can see small veins running from the base to the head. You look over to Hopper for some sort of instruction, but he silently smirks instead. Hopper moves his hand from the back of the seat and grabs the back of your neck, a lot gentler than the first time. Your head moves closer to his cock and you place an awkward kiss on it.
"Why so shy? You were all talk earlier," Hopper teases.
You open your mouth and place it around his head. His precum has a slightly salty taste as it hits your tongue. Before you can think about what to do next, Hopper pushes your head all the way down, so your nose is pressed against his crotch. You gag around his cock before he pulls your head up.
"Got something to say now, smart ass?"
For the first time in your life you're actually quiet, except for your heaving breathing. Your chin has spit dribbling down it and your eyes are watering. You loved it. Hopper pushes your head back down again, but this time you take more control. Your hand wraps around his base and you try to remember the moves Nancy had taught you. You bob your head up and down, careful not to use your teeth. The flat of your tongue swirls up and down his shaft with ease, eliciting a muffled groan from the Chief.
"Yeah that shut you right up. Guess my cock is all it takes to shut that pretty mouth up," Hopper grunts, still firmly holding your head. Your once perfect curls become a sweaty mess sticking to the back of your neck and forehead. A hum of contentment resonates from your chest as you continue sucking. Hopper's breath becomes labored and his legs twitch with every movement of your hands and mouth.
A pool forms in your panties, leaving you aching for his cock. You slip your hand between your thighs and stick a finger inside yourself. It's not enough to satisfy you, so you push in another finger. The sounds of your fingers desperately fucking your wet pussy immediately alert Hopper.
"That's enough sweetheart," Hopper says, lifting your head off of him. A whine comes from your throat, but you obey his command.
A firm hand pushes you from your sitting position to laying across the long seat of the truck. The Chief hovers above your body, his legs on either side of you. His eyes look you up and down with pure lust. You get shy and place your arms over yourself out of embarrassment.
"Are you going to sit there all day?" You ask.
"Clearly I haven't fixed your attitude yet," Hopper responds, hiking up your dress and pulling your soaked underwear to the side. He spits into his hand to lubricate his cock before pushing into you.
You let out a gasp as you feel his large cock stretching your pussy around him. The pain leaves your hair standing up, but subsides. Hopper's pace is cruel in its unrelenting speed. Once the pain has stopped you're just left wide-eyed with your mouth agape, unable to speak a word.
"Take it like a champ sweetheart! You talk so much shit, you should be able to," Hopper whispers into your ear.
The Chief's hands grab your thighs and put one over each shoulder. Your heels hit the top of the truck as he hammers deeper inside you. His washed-out jeans provide a rough cushion for your bare legs as they slap against his.
"C'mon you got it, all the way in there, mhmm."
Your attempt at response is a loud moan as he hits your g-spot. Hopper's grunts get louder and more ragged with every thrust. Your pussy grips around him desperately begging for more. Every word you try to form turns into a pathetic whine vibrating in your chest. Your eyebrows knit together as the pressure of your impending orgasm builds in your core. This only riles Hopper up even more.
"What's your name, huh? Can't remember?" Hopper laughs at your poor attempt at communicating. When you're close to a word, he moves his hips faster to stutter your brain. "Dumb slut can't even speak 'cause of Daddy's dick."
Your cunt aches painfully at your horniness. The Chief was already balls deep inside of you, but somehow you still need more. Hopper's cock is slathered in your slick, making it harder to stay inside of you without slipping out. Frustration builds with every thrust before he jackhammers into you.
The first you word you've speak since the start of this encounter is, "FUCK!"
Your orgasm runs straight into you like a freight train. Your pussy creams on Hopper's length, adding extra lubrication for his cock.
"That's it, atta girl," Hopper moans, looking down at your cunt. He fucks your cum back into you with a brutal pace. Your legs tremble in his grip, but he doesn't stop.
"Oh my God!" You shout, thankful that you were in the middle woods. Your eyes roll back into your head from the overstimulation.
"Almost there sweetheart." Hopper's thrusts stutter and his breath hitches for a second before he lets out a sigh. His spend fills up your sore cunt and he forces it back inside you. You can only let out weak little whimpers as the Chief pulls out of you. "Finally got you quiet for once," Hopper whispers against your ear.
Gentle hands pull your dress back down. The truck starts back up and pulls out of the woods. Your eyes close from exhaustion, but you can feel Hopper gently caressing your ankle laying across lap. The drive is a blur of street lights and turns before the car moves up a familiar back road.
You had used this back road many times to sneak into your bedroom after a night of partying. Hopper lifts you out of the truck and carries you to your window. It opens with ease and he places you on the bed that sits right underneath it. He pulls a pink blanket over you before slipping back into the darkness.

the other three walk further behind, a little less eager to go on the swings. “how much would you bet they get together?” Nick asks his youngest brother, motioning to Matt and i now on the swings together.
Chris thinks for a moment. “honestly, i don’t know if Matt will ever man up, bro puts himself in the friend zone” he laughs, taking another sip of his cherry slurpee.
“true, look at them” Nick gestures once more to us on the swings, our swings now linked together so we can swing at the same time. “so incredibly hopeless” they continue walking towards us
Nate speaks up after practically chugging his slurpee “one hundred bucks they start dating before we’re 25”
“easy money, my man Matt isn’t confessing till he’s on his death bed” the two shake on it, making Nick laugh, no one expecting this bet to come into play later in life.
end of flashback!!
the thing about the friend group is that when Abigail confessed her feelings for Matt, Nick immediately told Chris, not being able to keep the information to himself. The two of them were also aware that their brother reciprocated the feelings, even if he didn’t flat out say it until later in life.
this is why both boys are very aware of the awkward dynamic that has infiltrated the group, just neither of them knew fully why.
i get in my car and sigh as my phone connects to bluetooth. i had no reason to be stressed, me and Matt are technically on good terms, but i can’t help but regret my past actions.
if i had known he was into me i would have said something, and he probably thought the same thing.
it’s a weird feeling, thinking about what we could have been. what we could be.
i hate knowing that he moved on, that i missed my one chance. it’s silly, i mean i was in high school, we probably would have had a cringey breakup and gone back to being friends or something.
but i can’t help but mourn what would’ve been, what would’ve been my life if i hadn’t kissed some random guy at winter formal.
if i had just said something. if i had-
i have to stop. it’s torture knowing that he liked me at one point, but there’s no going back now, and things aren’t normal anymore.
i press my playlist, opting for happier songs to cheer me up from my now hopeless mood. it’s not a long drive to the triplets house, we made sure of that when we first moved to LA.
when i do finally arrive, i push down the never ending thoughts of Matt and get out of my car.
i don’t bother knocking, i just walk right in and take my shoes off, something the triplets don’t do that drives me insane.
i see Nick first which i’m grateful for, his smile always helps distract me. based on the way it turns into a slight look of pity i can tell he knows somethings wrong with me but before he can ask Chris yells. “Abigail do you want a root beer or a pepsi”
i shake my head, smiling again. “when the fuck have i ever wanted pepsi?” i reply back, Matt still no where to be seen. Chris tosses me a root beer and joins me and Nick in the living room, cracking open his second pepsi of the day.
the three of us talk as if everything’s normal, although i can tell they both know that things are not normal. eventually Matt joins us and although it’s incredibly awkward, i missed talking to him.
“wait your guys’ warehouse has a hot tub right?” i ask, we had been talking for a while but the combination of little sleep and bad posture was catching up to me and my back hurts like a bitch.
“oh shit you’re so real for that” Nick replies, a glimmer of excitement in his eyes.
Chris literally beams “fuck yeah i love the hot tub i’ve been craving it so much recently” this just causes Matt to roll his eyes.
“you’re always craving the hot tub dumbass” he says, leaning back down into the couch.
“fuck you Matt stop being tough” Chris replies, now standing up. “i’m gonna get dressed and ignore Matt’s negativity” he jokes, now walking downstairs.
“he’s so over dramatic i love it” i laugh, now also standing up.
“see! it’s not just me who thinks that” Matt laughs along, sloping my arm jokingly but letting it linger for a moment longer than normal before taking it off and looking back to his brothers.
“Abi is your bathing suit still here?” Nick asks me, completely ignoring the interaction Matt and i just had, maybe it’s all in my head.
i nod and begin to walk to Nicks room where i had left said bathing suit a few weeks ago.
i put it on in the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror for a moment. it’s rare that i feel attractive, especially in such little clothing, but here i am, actually happy for once with what looks back at me in the mirror.
i walk back downstairs and meet with Chris in the kitchen, now wearing some old t-shirt that Matt gave me in high school over my swimsuit. “you drinking?” i ask Chris as he grabs coolers out of the fridge.
“what does it look like i’m doing?” he says annoyingly, sometimes it’s hard to resist punching him when he says stupid shit like that.
“okay fuck you, give me some” he hands me three coolers which a carry slightly awkwardly before setting them down momentarily. “is Matt driving?”
“no we’re gonna walk” Matt says, exiting his room, now bare chested as he has yet to put a shirt on. i haven’t seen him like this in a while and woah.
Chris slaps me on the arm which i pretend to not notice as Nick walks down the stairs. “we ready to go?” he asks
we all agree and put our drinks into one of my tote bags, all while i try my best to pretend that matt’s tattoos don’t cause me to squeeze my thighs together.
it’s a short walk to the warehouse but it’s peaceful.
the streets are lit purely from street lamps and the wind from earlier has died down. this is my favourite part about summer, when it’s not too hot but just warm enough to just be wearing a a bathing suit and one large tee shirt.
i go to look at matt again almost subconsciously, just to see that his eyes were already in my direction.
when i catch him looking he snaps out of it and rejoins the conversation his brothers were having in front of him as if everything was normal.
soon enough we make it to the warehouse and opt for just walking around the side gate straight into the backyard.
i’m the first to make it to the hot tub, clearly the most eager to go inside because i open it and immediately slip my shirt off.
i feel eyes on me but i ignore it, i can’t look back, not when i think that Matt’s behind me looking at my ass.
Chris grabs the speaker and starts playing his own music which causes me to roll my eyes slightly. don’t get me wrong he has the occasional song i like but i’d way rather listen to Matt or Nicks music.
i grab my first drink of the night out of my bag and step into the hot tub. “fuck i needed this so bad” i sigh, fully sitting in the warm water and closing my eyes. “i’m so grateful for all the 13 year olds that make you rich so that i can get the benefits of it”
the boys all laugh momentarily. “i should record you and put it on a tea page, just expose you to all the fans” Matt jokes, now sitting next to me in the hot tub with his own drink in hand.
i giggle and take a sip of my drink. “okay miss julia earnst”
at this point Chris is pissing himself laughing, slapping Nick on the arm as he folds. “holy fuck Abi you just do it every time” he wipes his eyes as if he was crying “we need to get you in a video for real”
“i agree the fans would love you” Nick agrees, a smile still plastered on his face.
i’ve thought about it before, and this isn’t the first time they’ve suggested me going back on their youtube channel but honestly there’s nothing i’d hate more. “being on the channel was fine when y’all had like 20k but no way can i face six million girls who all think they’re competing with me for one of you”
Matt listens to me intently before adding. “it would be a little funny though, the dating rumours and shit” he laughs as if that’s the most outlandish thing ever, like us dating is a funny concept. i try to focus on the drink in my hand and not on the boy next to me.
“what’s weird to me is that no one knows we’re still friends with you, i keep seeing posts saying they miss when we were friends with you like” Nick furrows his eyebrows and turns his head slightly for dramatic effect.
i grab my second drink and immediately start sipping on it, i needed to de stress and getting drunk in a hot tub was very tempting.
we all take for another hour, saying outlandish things and constantly bickering and then immediately making up again. it’s the dynamic that i’ve grown fond of.
at this point i’m 4 drinks in and considering my low tolerance, i feel great. unfortunately though, Chris and Nick decide to go home, something about needing to do something for content or whatever but they encourage me and Matt to stay.
i’m not in my right mind right now, normally the idea of being alone with Matt in a hot tub would have me freaking out right now but i’m not even thinking about that.
well until he speaks. “do you ever think about high school?”
“of course i think about high school what do you mean?” i furrow my eyebrows, god this kid takes forever to get a point across.
“well like the butterfly effect or whatever. i always think about what i could’ve done differently” he says, crushing the can of his 5th drink of the night in his hands. god his hands.
“i guess” i think for a moment, looking up at the starts that splatter across the sky. “what would you do differently? you know in high school or what not”
he’s silent for a moment, as if to collect his thoughts. “honestly?” i look to him and nod, now feeling that god awful feeling of love brew in my stomach. i hate how easy it is for him to cause that. “i would’ve kissed you”
my jaw literally drops. “what? when?” i don’t even know what to think, i just need an explanation.
“there was one time when i was really close to doing it, we snuck out for the first time to get energy drinks at the gas station in like sophomore year, remember?” i nod, literally speechless. “well i had already kissed you at that point, you know at the party, and i watched you as you looked at the stars while you laid in the grass and you looked so kissable and i was this close” he says, gesturing with his hands “but i went to lean in and then you said something about some kid from school and so i stopped.”
i stay quiet for a moment unsure of what to say, but he talks again. “i guess i just wonder what would’ve happened if i kissed you then. where would we be now?” he looks at the stars now, avoiding eye contact with me as i gawk at him.
Matt has never been the type to be bold, so part of me knows that the alcohol has something to do with this confession, but there’s no way he doesn’t mean it at all.
i clear my throat. “i think if you kissed me then, that we’d be kissing right now, you know butterfly effect and all”
i am also not the type to be bold. yet here i am.
i look at him, no words needed. the sense of boldness has yet to die down and so i pick my hand off the seat of the hot tub and place it on his leg, looking for any form of discomfort in his eyes.
he seems to be looking at me for the same. we both know exactly what it is we want in this moment, so when i move my hand closer to his inner thigh i know what he’s asking. “yeah?” he asks simply and i nod. “i need words Abigail. i need to know what you want.”
“i want you to put that bossy mouth to better use” i reply, and it’s like i can see a switch in his eyes as he smirks.
he leans into me hungrily, as if he’s been wanting to kiss me forever. he places his hands on my waist and i quite literally moan from the feeling, all i get in response is the feeling of him smiling on my mouth. proud.
i don’t like the power he knows he has over me, so i decide to change that. i move my hand that’s on his inner thigh slowly, delicately inching closer to where i know he wants me most, all while kissing him relentlessly.
i could kiss him forever, but as my hand grazes over his trunks and he stops, i know i have more important things to do with my mouth.
i take it as an opportunity to kiss his neck, teasingly licking a stripe on his sharp ass jawline and he shutters at the feeling.
god i love having him like this.
“want me to touch you matty?” my hand now palming him through his trunks, my thumb effortlessly finishing his tip and rubbing circles as i wait for a response, instead he just nods eagerly.
“what happened to using our words? too hard to speak when you’re imagining my mouth around your cock hm?”
“please” he says in a whimper that goes straight down to my core.
i kiss him again, mostly because i can’t get enough of his mouth. after a moment, his hands make their way to my ass and he guides me to his lap, my palms now cupping his face.
his hands have their fun exploring my body, using my ass to pull himself impossibly closer to me. i whimper slightly as i feel his dick place pressure on my core and he immediately stops kissing me as a smile forms on his face.
i rock my hips onto his, feeling him underneath me every time i lean forward, the hard feeling on my clit causing me to whimper in his ear.
“not so tough now hm?” his hands find a new purpose as they make their way to my tits, teasingly playing with the straps and playing with my nipples through the swimsuit.
“matt please” i beg, at this point i’ve given up on fighting him for dominance. he doesn’t bother fighting me either as he unties my bathing suit too and begins kissing along my collarbone. “fuck matt so good” my hands make their way to his hair and i pull slightly, feeling him moan against my chest.
he wastes no time taking one nipple into his mouth while his hand plays with the other, god i’m wet. he swirls his tongue around in a way that makes me crazy, and god he’s good with his mouth.
i continue to roll my hips onto him as Matt has the time of his life with my chest, taking his time to give each breast an equal amount of attention.
my clit is throbbing at the feeling of Matt beneath me but i need more. “Matt i need- fuck” my head rolls back as he bucks his hips onto mine slightly.
“what was that pretty girl?” he uses his hands to push me closer to him making me clench around nothing. “cmon tell me what you want”
i bite my lip, he hasn’t slowed his pace and is now placing teasing kisses under my ear. “i need your hands. i need you to-“ i shiver as his hands replace where his trunks were moments prior.
he turns us around so that i’m now underneath him and he lifts me to sit on the edge of the hot tub, leaning against the lid.
he rubs me through my swimsuit bottoms before taking his hand off my heat and instead teasingly playing the the hem. i moan audibly once more, now extremely sexually frustrated.
all i get in response is a shallow laugh while he continues to play with me. i cant take this anymore i’m literally gonna go insane.
so i take matters into my own hands, literally.
i grab his right hand to stop it from toying with my bathing suit and slide my bottoms to the side, placing his hand exactly where i want it.
this just causes him to shutter at the motion. “god i’d love to be mad at you but that’s got as fuck” and he puts his hands to work, placing pressure on my clit before lifting his hand off of me temporarily.
before i can protest him stopping he spits right onto my clit and i watch as it drips down through my folds, he seems to be watching just as intently.
“i’ve been wanting to do this forever” he begins kissing my inner thighs, teasing again. “needed so badly to have you just like this, fucking soaked all for me” just as i’m about to complain, his tongue makes context with my clit, licking up and down painfully slowly.
i cant do anything else in return other than grab his hair and thrust my hips forward slightly, needing more. “you’re so greedy, let me have my fun pretty girl. gonna make you feel so good”
he immediately inserts two fingers into me, causing an embarrassing reaction from me as my body tenses up and my head rolls back.
his tongue continues flicking on my clit, gently but still insanely fast, this alone would be enough for me to finish, but when he begins to curl his long fingers exactly where i need them- god help me.
i’m a moaning mess at this point, tugging at his hair and rolling my hips around, chasing the high that’s brewing in my stomach. his fingers reach exactly where my own couldn’t and i feel literally tears form in my eyes.
his pace doesn’t slow once, still relentlessly giving me pleasure in every way he can. “matt i’m gon-“ i moan again, literally speechless.
i feel him smirk underneath me as his already fast pace somehow increases, giving me exactly what i need to push me over the edge.
my thighs squeeze around his head as my body shocks through an orgasm and i feel him moan underneath me.
he takes his time, slowly coming to a stop and ending with one final kiss to my now sensitive clit as he comes up to meet my face. “that was the hottest thing i’ve ever seen” he laughs into a kiss with me and after a few seconds we pull away, i’m still out of breath.
“no one’s ever made me feel like that before holy fuck” i sigh, looking at him with with lust in his eyes. “needing me to return the favour pretty boy?” i place my hand on his abs teasingly.
he just laughs. “when i said that was the hottest things i meant it, i was done the moment you were done” he leans back in to kiss me yet again, clearly addicted to it.
we kiss for a moment longer, both tired and still noticeably under the influence.
authors note: hey…. was not planning on writing that and then… well yk🤗

Simon "Ghost" Riley General Headcanons
A/N: This is just headcanons that have popped up in my head or whatever but I'm trying my best to keep it lore accurate/based off of lore. There will be some mentions of abuse, mental health, substance abuse (alcohol and drugs) and body dysmorphia due to how his character is.
General Appearance:
Starting with appearances, I think he's 6'2-6'4 and weighs 200-230 lbs (189-195 cm and 90-104 kgs).
He has prominent muscles, but they aren't Arnold Schwarzenegger huge but still large enough to the point that most people are impressed.
He has short, blondish hair where in the winter, it darkens to a light sandy brown if he doesn't go outside.
He had more of a fair and cool undertone but after spending time in the Middle East he darkened up slightly.
Everyone he knows always debates whether his eyes are green, grey or hazel but he personally thinks they are hazel with a light blue on the edges.
His nose is slightly hooked but is also kind of crooked from the front due to it being broken a gazillion times.
General Personality:
As proven previously with the "Alone" mission, Simon is a pretty funny guy.
I feel like there's a common misconception about him that he's super serious and cold and has no emotion but that's FAAAAAALSE.
When he's not on duty I'm a firm believer he acts sassy with the others to be funny.
He obviously knows that there's a time and place for everything but he also knows when a joke or sarcastic comment is needed to lighten the mood up.
I feel like his enhanced ability to read the room kind of stems from him having to always observe and walk on eggshells with his dad in the past.
Like if he misread his mood he could've potentially gotten hurt, leading to Mama Riley defending him causing her to get hurt too but that's for another post.
Back to the humor I feel like a lot of times he's just unintentionally funny like he'll say something, and because of his delivery people laugh and he just sits there confused like "???? I didn't make a joke"
100% a workaholic with no work-life balance because who needs that when your job is your life!
Once the guy starts working, he ain't gonna stop until he says so.
Super observant, he notices the fine details so if you think you can cut corners around him? You're mistaken.
Simon is moody af but that's definitely heightened by his kinda crappy mental health.
General Family:
He hates his dad.
Did I mention he hates his father?
For sure a mama's boy but not in an "I was my son's first girlfriend" kind of way.
He looks up to his mom like crazy and still has an emotional attachment to her from when he was young due to his father being emotionally, physically, and mentally abusive to him.
Anytime he comes back from a mission, has a rough day, or just needs advice on a decision or life he ALWAYS calls Mama Riley.
She's literally his rock because he sees her as someone who is steadfast and strong who goes based on the facts and how she takes things for face value, similar to Simon. I think this also gave Simon an admiration of single mothers and women in general since he grew up with more of a perspective from his mother than his father.
He loves Tommy to bits and pieces, and they were hands down partners in crime back in their teenage years before Simon enlisted.
If you go around Manchester, you can still see some of their graffiti tags on different things.
When Tommy became a drug addict, Simon was there for him from day 1 till he finally got clean.
A/N: This isn't much but if y'all want more I can work on another that's more detailed! Requests are always open so leave some suggestions on things you want to see!

can i request one where it’s azriel x reader and reader is so overwhelmed with az’s love that she starts to bawl her eyes out of the blue out bc she loved him so much, he asks her what’s going on and gets kinda worried, but then relieved when he realizes what’s going on😭🤍 i’m so inlove w this man
Love Your Love
Azriel x reader
A/n: in a fall/winter mood bc I’m so over this heat. It’s been in the 90s and humid all week I hate how bipolar New England weather is
Warnings: none
You rub at your eyes and stretch. You look out the window behind the couch and see a few more inches of snow have fallen. You love this time of year, it’s cold out but cozy inside by the fire, Azriel by your side as you cuddle up to him on the couch.
Propping your feet up on the coffee table Azriel comes in holding two mugs of hot chocolate. “I brought you your favorite. Hot chocolate and,” he smiled at you as his shadows set a small plate of cookies in your lap. “Aaww Az. Thank you baby.” He sits next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders pulling you to rest on his shoulder.
You hold a cookie to his mouth and he takes it from you with a small hum. You pick up the mug of cocoa and see Az added extra of your favorite marshmallows. Smiling at the mug you feel your heart swell with the love and attention Azriel gives you. He always knows how to make you feel special even with the smallest gestures.
You’d been in good relationships before but never like this. Taking a sip you also notice the small hint of cinnamon in your drink. You didn’t even tell Azriel that you put it in, his shadows must’ve noticed. A huge grin lights up your face as you stare at Azriel.
“What’s up love?” You shake your head, “Nothing. It’s really good thank you.” He places a quick kiss on your forehead. Azriel picks up the book you were reading before you took your nap. Bending his knee he propped the book on his thing, opening it to the marked spot. “Do you want me to read to you while you eat?”
“Sure.” You snuggle into his side further as he starts to read your romance book to you. Taking a bite of another cookie you start to tear up from all the emotions your feeling. You don’t think you can describe what Azriel and everything he does means to you.
You’re so wrapped up in your thoughts you don’t even notice he stopped reading. Or that your crying harder now. “My love, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” You set down the mug and plate to wipe at your eyes but your tears keep falling. “Y/n you’re worrying me. Did I do something?”
Taking a deep breath you calm down enough to get words out. “I’m sorry Az. It’s just, no one’s ever treated me with so much love and care like you do. It’s just making me really happy, these are happy tears I swear.” You give him a big smile still wiping at your wet eyes.
He lets out a breathy laugh dropping his head a little. “Thank the mother, I was scared.” You giggle at him. Azriel gently holds your chin between his thumb and pointer finger. His rough hands warm and comforting on your skin. “Y/n listen to me. You deserve to be treated with love and care and respect. Anyone who hasn’t is a fool. But I’m glad they lost you so I could find you. You’ve been the greatest gift these past few months and I have no intention of letting you go.”
You start to cry again, “Oh Azriel.” You wrap your arms around his neck, pulling him into an ardent kiss that he returns. Azriel pulls you onto his lap, cupping your face. You pull away for air and nuzzle your nose against his. “I love you Azriel.” “And I love you my sweet.”

exactly one person asked for a men's list when it came to my cooking headcanons list for the ladies so here ya go!
Chris Redfield- Actually a decent home cook because he was old enough to want to give Claire some of their mom's cooking when he could. Unfortunately, any time he tries a new recipe for the first time he burns it. The second or third time things come out fine, but the first time he does something new he's opening windows to let out the pan smoke or returning to coals in the oven.
Barry Burton- His wife does all the cooking as he's hopeless in the kitchen, but since they got married she's never had to wash a single dish. He always made sure there's a working dishwasher in their house for when he's away too long to do his usual chore.
Albert Wesker- Can make the fanciest looking food in the world. We're talking Michelin star $100 a plate in appearance only. His dishes have zero flavor. They taste. No one understands how this happens.
Leon Kennedy- Breakfast King. I know the line in damnation is too overused, but breakfast is actually the easiest way to start learning how to cook. Box mix pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs, all require him to put something in a pan on low to medium heat with some oil and poke it around until it's done. There's little effort exerted in monitoring since that's half his real job anyway. Of course it translates to cooking. He's perfected the timing. Everything else is take-out though.
Carlos Oliveira- He had no idea how to cook until he got out of Raccoon City and went home to his family. He tried learning from his mama, but she'd always take the knife or pan from him, so he learned from a sibling and is pretty good at it. He makes a lot of marinades, so the blender is his friend.
Luis Serra Navarro- Absolutely under no circumstances does this man belong in a kitchen. He will concoct the most wretched smelling health food that's full of vitamins, minerals, and "a healthy dash of vinegar for flavor". He's wonderful to have at the dinner table, but never at the stove. Makes a real tasty cup of coffee though.
Jack Krauser- For some ungodly reason, this man can take someone's most hated foods and make them taste good. No idea what the hell he does to it as he will kick everyone out of the kitchen until he's done, but he's just like that. Barely cooks not because he hates it, but because he has to be in the mood.
Piers Nivans- He's the king of the grill. Will lecture anyone in earshot about the important difference between gas, charcoal, or wood when it comes to maintaining the flavor of the meat. He also believes salt and pepper are all you need for a great burger which must be cooked to medium at the hottest lest it lose it's tenderness.
Jake Muller- Salads, smoothies, and overnight oats, he's the one making meals that are able to be eaten fast or on the go. Fruit counts as a dessert to him. He does enjoy experimenting by eating the "weird" or most unfriendly tourist foods while he travels so he has something to brag about, even though he could never figure out how to cook any of it himself.
Ethan Winters- He tries his best. He'll help Mia in the kitchen with food prep or clean up. He makes good dips for chips, has a delicious cookie recipe, and researched how to make baby food for when Rosemary stopped being breastfed. This somehow translated into him figuring out how to make very good custards and parfaits. Although, he got super frustrated trying to figure out how to make bread and has given up the fight.
i will happily do this again for any characters not on either of my lists since i love cooking and baking, and this is fun to think about
