Disappointment and frustration

Hellop. Never done something like this before, but here we go. This is going to be basically a large splurge of disappointment and frustration on one, particular person, Vivienne Medrano.

So to start this off, I've known about, and have been a fan, of Viv for a long while, ever since the Hazbin Polit. I've followed her work, been inspired by it, and found great fun with the characters and world.

Without Viv, I would not be a furry (debatable if this is good or bad), I would not have found characters I've found comfort in (Jackson Wells, Zoophobia), or other creators in the indie community. However, for a while now I've been seeing how Viv and her works have greatly fallen from there highs, and how Viv has, really dropped the ball in being professional.

Her tweets and general attitude have given off all the wrong vibes, and show a person who could care less about being professional. From the whole "Cain, I am your bitch" situation, how she handles ANY form of criticism that is even slightly negative, the way she tweets and responds to others etc. It all just compounds on her image, basically holding up a mirror.

Her show (or shows, Hazbis quality is to be debated when it releases), started out, in my opinion, rough yet charming, clearly having passion behind it and a fun time to watch, has degraded to a point of being a bland, misguided and unplanned mess where the main character now feels like a side character to another character who's derailed the premise and show as a whole. Don't get me started on the inconsistent animation quality, cause holy shit.

There is also the leaked, behind the scenes, screenshots stuff that, yes should be looked at skeptically, is slowly, and in some cases basically confirmed, to be true. Largely owing to her on twitter and some behind the scenes stuff that should make you do a double take. I.e. Treatment of female characters, the constant hiring of new employees, etc.

This also ties into how the Fandom treats these characters and situations, and is where a lot of my frustrations come into play. To explain, the Fandom surrounding Viv and her works is one of the most apparent toxic fandoms I have ever seen, all it takes for them to turn on you is a couple of tweets or posts about something you disagree with or being slightly critical of Viv, and they turn on you. The amount of harassment and death threats flung around is concerning to a high degree and Viv, doesn't do anything about it, not even an ask to stop, largely because she encourages it. Sure, it's not a tweet saying to attack someone, but all the likes she gives to her fans on any post talking about what someone said or done that didn't align with the greater fandom opinion, it encourages them because they see it, they see that the person they look up to has liked what they said and so they keep doing it, so they get more likes form her. It's, sad to see really. The Fandom treats these characters above people really, holding them up and parading them around like they can do no wrong, and the same is for Viv.

There's more I could say, but many have already said it before and will continue to say it until, Viv basically fades away, because the way Viv handles herself, the Fandom that surrounds her and much more, wont survive the fact that when Hazbin drops, and is reviewed, and those critical comments and reviews come about it that are even slightly negative, the Fandoms going to get bloodthirsty and destroy any good will left or they would've had with the general public.

Kiya, you're the first person who I follow, who are a Yuuji & Sukuna fan but not shipping them. Like, it's so cool....Most JJK fan that I know are people who love either one of them, hate both of them, or love both of them (and must shipping them romantically)....Do you think in the end, Yuuji is the one who will kill Sukuna for good?

You're right, Kiya,.there are many people who love to talk negatively about a certain fandom, like if you hate it that much, why not just stop watching or reading them (yes 'a certain fandom' that I mean are BNHA & JJK)......

To that question, I do!! I'll be honest, I think out of all the characters, it would make sense if Yuji is the one to land the final attack and ending Sukuna for good. It honestly frightens me a little that this makes it possible that some of the other characters may be put out commission. But! Let's think about it!

I apologize beforehand because I know this is going to get long!

It makes sense to me that Yuji is the one to kill Sukuna because out of the characters, who annoys Sukuna the most? Who does he view now as his "main dish" because of his unbreakable resolve? Yuji Itadori!

This kinda plays into some thoughts of mine I'm working on.

For one, I think of Yuji and Sukuna's relationship as more twisted version of Yugi Muto and Yami Yugi (to an extent, Ryou and Yami Bakura).

A while back, in this post, I talked a little about how JJK share some similarities to YGO, which apparently Gege likes, I don't know, I read a post. I believe so with the references thrown in there and again, similarities that could be coincidences.

Yuji and Yugi have similar names, spiky multicolored hair (black, pink and blond... Yuji used to be blond), they're high school students who wear blue uniforms, raised by their grandfathers who also happen to look like the spirit possessing them in some way, they stick to their morals, got possessed by a spirit with a "King" title through a cursed objects...

Both stories involve something about souls, Kenjaku rocked the Bandit Keith special, in the anime, you can see Gojo hold a DVD that looks like Bonds Beyond Time (I have a post here showing so)...

That's all I can capture, but thinking about all that I wondered "well, how funny it would be if Yuji turns out to be Sukuna's reincarnation? Like his soul reborn just like Yugi is to Yami/Atem?"

If that's the case, then for sure it would be possible for another similarity to be thrown in.

At the end of YGO, guess what happens to Yami and Yugi? Spoiler, Yugi beats Yami in a duel for Yami to pass onto the afterlife.

In a way, it was like he was putting his past self to rest.

So couldn't it be possible for Yuji to do the same to Sukuna? Put the King of Curses to rest as he should be? Sukuna was reawaken into an era he does not belong to. It's something I don't see talked about a lot. A clash of generations.

Think of Gojo and the Higher-Ups. Gojo doesn't like their ways of handling the Jujutsu world. Another example, Kirara's technique is more "new age" which the HUs don't care for.

With Sukuna, in 248, he's used his opponents being people who fight him to prove something or fearing him. Now? Yuji breaks that mold. He's not someone fighting Sukuna to entertain him or even fears him. He's mad at him, he hates him and doesn't seek for his praise or to please him. He has accepted that he is a Jujutsu sorcerer.

Sukuna was used to his "old" ways, that he didn't account for Yuji to come at him with a different or "new" vibe.

So yeah, Yuji being the one to kill Sukuna would be fitting in my opinion. He was created to be Sukuna's vessel, but who says he couldn't also have been created to be Sukuna's threat? I mean, it is funny that Yuji was able to suppress Sukuna with ease.

Q: Who is making the game?

Currently as of 11.1.23, FIVE people are working on the game. First there is Aru (me!) who is the main creative head, I create the story, art, and am the current programmer. Two are my friends Neko and Salt (check out Salt at @writingseaslugs!), who are helping me with writing. Then there's Xing (check them out at @qierxing!) who's helping with background art! And finally Rem/Ciel (@remturtle) who does delightful work on character concepts, and will handle CGs as well. I tell everyone what I want to do for a route and I run it past them to make sure they like or if they have ideas that they think will work better. Together we are here to bring to life your Twisted Desires.

Q: Are there any types of asks that aren’t allowed?

We will answer all asks to the best of our ability, but there are certain asks that can't be answered straightforwardly, or we might have to delete. Such as asking if there will be X scenes. We'll try to answer everything, and we're always open to suggestions and the like, but I'm only one person. If your ask goes unanswered, send it in again, and add a note you're doing so, so I can either answer it (sometimes things slip through the cracks) or send you a DM as to why it can't be answered. Otherwise I'll make a post outlining why I can't answer.

Q: How long does it take to get an answer if it follows all the rules?

Not long, I check tumblr often, about 3 times a day, chances are it'll be answered fairly quickly!

Q: Will Four Nights be free to play?

Yes! As a TWST fangame, I feel its not appropriate to ask for payment, but there will be an option to donate a Ko-fi, support on Patreon, or add your own price on Itch.io if you like the game that much!

Q: Will Four Nights release over time or all at once in a single launch?

At the moment, we plan to release the game in multiple builds. But we also want to release a demo that shows the game in action and as a "proof of concept" to those who are following along now, this early in development. The demo will (likely) contain just the prologue. There is also going to be beta and alpha builds of the in-development demo on Patreon and Itch.io.

Q: Do you have an expected release date planned?

It's too early in development to say, too many things are up in the air. But if I have my way, it will be released Winter 2023, or perhaps Spring 2024.

Q: What content sensitivity warnings should I be aware of?

There will be heavy sexual content for one thing. Full nudity will be shown in certain CGs along with sexual acts. There will also be: yanderes, dubcon, noncon, kidnapping, unhealthy relationships, physical torture, harsh language, major character death, dismemberment, disfigurement, blood play, knife play, marking (magical and physical), domestic abuse, and psychological manipulation. All gore outside of blood will be written but not visually shown (either through sprites or CGs)

Q: Are you going to make the game stream friendly?

Considering all we've got to censor, you'd think I'd say no, BUT- I will be creating a version of the game where sexual scenes can be censored and the worst of the violence also waved over.

Q: How different will the characters be from their TWST counterparts? How many changes to the lore of TWST are you making?

There will be many major differences, we're not just changing the ages! Some characters have entirely different sides to them, and their more primal instincts will be brought out to play. This is all to say, I had fun with them (lol). I want you to see this Twisted world for yourself and find some parts you still love, and more you can come to love.

Q: Will there be any other TWST characters beyond Diasomnia?

Yes, the "hero" you are betrothed to is none other than our very own Yuuken Enma. What? You thought you were Yuu?

Q: Is the MC Yuu?

No. You possess magic, and are certainly not from another world.

Q: Does the MC have a backstory?

Yes! You cannot change it, it's important to the story. But you can change how you might feel about certain parts of it.

Q: Do you plan on having the MC being female?

MC's gender, sex, and pronouns are entirely up to you. You choose of one of three appearances: Feminine, Neutral, and Masculine. Your sex assigned at birth, and what pronouns you go by. They're all interchangeable, and we're looking into a system where you can change your pronouns at any time.

Q: Will there be any bonus content, and what will they be?

That I leave up to my friend Salt, they've offered to create fics and other writings for this universe to help promote it, so please look forward to that! I may create more art that isn't strictly related to sprites and CGs, so that's also in the cards. If you mean bonus references in the game itself, ah... that's up for you to see.

Q: Will there be X type of story or character scenes in Four Nights? What will happen or change if I make X type of choices/etc.?

It's still too early in development to say anything concrete, especially without giving away spoilers. So I'm sorry but I can't concretely answer this, but you're still free to suggest things you'd like to see! Though I won't directly confirm it if I decide to use your idea...

Q: How many routes will each character be getting?

Silver and Sebek have two routes, though their B routes are only unlocked after finding a secret in Lilia's route. Lilia and Malleus only have one route, but their length varies, and they have three endings instead of two to compensate.

It's been one year since I was banned from @sammysundog all because I talked too much about my job and that made Sam's community "uncomfortable" but then they turned around and claimed that my talking about work was not the problem (even though they said it was, then they refuse to tell me what it was that I said. I have autism and have trouble reading social cues so I didn't know what I was saying bad) They refuse to tell me, and they refuse to talk to me and work things out.

They claim I'm a stalker just because I want to work things out with them and tell MY side of things and explain those tweets to everyone! Without people even realizing Sam stalked me as well.

Sam contacted my family

Sam (without my knowledge) lurked around my Twitter and took screenshots of things that I said on Twitter (some things that have nothing to do with them and involved and harassed people who have nothing to do with Sam or the situation between us) To try and make ME look like a bad guy when all of it was a misunderstanding and taken out of context. I tried to explain myself but no one was listening.

Sam leaked my address (Yes my address, the place where I live, MY HOUSE, and MY JOB) was posted online! Sam claimed no one in the community had anything to do with it! (I call bullshit because it was right after the incident and Sam and Clare were the only ones who knew those alternate accounts were mine at the time)

Sam also leaked my social media accounts. They tried to gaslight me into believing they didn't leak my address. They claimed that the "Doxxing" was them contacting my family and from me sending Sam tips. That is not true. My house was leaked online, and it wasn't from tipping Sam, Sam started tips AFTER I was doxxed. I also did not know that Sam contacted my family until 4-5 days after I sent those tweets. Here is a timeline of what happened around that time.

May 3rd: I sent tweets threatening to harm myself (Yes hanging is a common suicide method)

May 4th: Sam calls me out and then claims they have autism as well (I was not using autism as an excuse, it was bad timing)

May 4/5: I saw that my job and my address were leaked, I reached out to Sam on their website (which was the only place I could reach them) and asked if they leaked my address or not, then I explained my situation, I explained to Sam how the ban affected me, time passed and I grew impatient, I thought Sam was purposely ignoring me.

May 9th: I woke up the next morning and saw that Sam had reached out to me on Twitter saying that they would like to make one last attempt to settle things so that we could move on with our lives, they understood that I was angry, they told me they wanted to reply to the messages on their website because they don't check the messages there very often. Sam understood, that I was having a very difficult time with the ban because Pheobe (My 17-year-old dog) died, the next day. They understood that the ban was difficult for me to handle because I had lost an alarming amount of weight and would take melatonin with alcohol to sleep. The 16th of April is also my sister's wedding anniversary, and I lost some co-workers I liked around that time. So Sam knew the ban was bad timing and knew I was going through a lot. That is when they told me that they contacted my family. THEY DID MENTION that they had no interest in welcoming me back into the community, but I was so desperate to come back that I kept pressing on and begging Sam to give me just one more chance. They ended up blocking me on Twitter and turning off their messages. I collapsed on the floor that night and TRIGGER WARNING: I self-harmed out of guilt. Sam didn't know that I was having a hard time at first and I didn't hold it against them but from June to now Sam still said bad things about me and spread fear about me knowing that I was going through a lot!

So the main reason I've been reaching out to people in Sam's community is because I want to return to this community. I also have been drinking A LOT to help cope with the ban and I get impulsive when I drink (which isn't healthy but it's the only option I have right now)

Everyone claims I make them uncomfortable but I didn't mean to, and I still don't mean to.

I do have Hobbies, I have the same hobbies that Sam has. I like to do Art, Writing, Photography, Gardening, Watching Videos, Watching Streams, Walking, Listening to Music, and all that. But sure... I automatically don't have hobbies because I'm depressed and am not in the right headspace to do them (Even though Sam told me to practice when I'm in the right headspace for it and to not force it.) I also recently won a 50 dollar gift card for singing Karaoke at an arcade bar.

Another reason why Sam does not want me in their community is because we have a conflict in beliefs. Sam is a Liberal, an Atheist, and a Lesbian. I am a Conservative and A Christian. I honestly don't have a problem with Sam's beliefs (otherwise I wouldn't want to be a part of Sam's community at all) But the one thing I cannot agree on is letting Children go on puberty blockers or have the gender transition surgery, I also cannot agree on bringing kids to drag shows/strip clubs/etc. I also don't like the idea of Men who identify as women who still have their penis, going into women's spaces (Bathroom, Locker room) or basically, any room where Women and little girls are getting undressed and having not only these "Men" seeing these women and girls naked (which would understandably make them VERY uncomfortable) but they have to see this man who claims he is a woman, naked. But yet we have to deal with this and accept this into our society even though it makes people uncomfortable or we'll be labeled as transphobic, even though @sammysundog doesn't want me in their community because I make them "uncomfortable" and I have to accept and deal with people's reaction to my behavior, but cannot accept and deal with peoples discomfort with the Trans movement and the things I've mentioned before?!

Me: *Talks about work*

Sam: You're making me uncomfortable! You're banned, you have to accept people's reactions to their discomfort for you!

Random Man: I identify as a woman! I still have a penis, but I'm going to go into the women's spaces and take my pants off and people have to accept this even if they're uncomfortable or you're transphobic and a bigot!

Me: *is against this*

Sam: You are a transphobic bigot and I don't want you in my community Christy!

Double Standards Am I right?

Not to mention that recently there was a stream where buttsbot took someone's quote and it sounded like an ableist slur Sam deleted it and said that if anyone repeated the slur, they would be put in timeout and their message would be deleted. That's it, Timed out. Deleted Message. Not banned.

Me: *Talks about throwing a fry at my manager for a joke*

Sam: You're banned. I'm uncomfortable!

People in Sam's chat: "Are you planning to sell kids?" "make the child sleep outside" "Let the child play with feces" "shitting out my peebis" "shitting my britches"

Sam: Lmao that's funny, you're allowed in my community. Hardy Har!

Condensed Pigeon Milk literally told me that I should be grateful for abuse. ABUSE!

Not to mention everything you guys are saying about Cindy (Pleasant Sims) She is going through a hard time too and its hard to get help when you have been struggling with severe mental disorders for years, it's not that were looking for trouble or became comfortable with our issues, its just all we know, and even if we are suffering we are afraid of change. I want to change and get better just like Cindy does, but it's hard. Don't romanticize it.

So what is your problem with me? How did I make you guys uncomfortable when you pull this shit?! I did not use my autism as an excuse for what happened in May of 2023. It was my Psychosis, and the ban triggered a trauma response, and I'm sorry! You guys claim I'm a bad person for this? GET REAL! At least I acknowledge my wrongdoings and try to fix it.

Sorry for being so angry, I've been going through a lot this past year.

I know I was wrong for all of this, I know none of this is right, but all I wanted was to fix things.

wei wuxian and his attitudes on his sexuality... and the fandom attitudes towards it in turn

so i guess for my first post ill talk about some discussions of sexuality ive seen floating around, mainly pertaining to wei wuxian's sexuality and how he views himself. this isnt any sort of analysis of the direct text or anything but oh it could be. i dont use a lot of direct references to the text for this post, mostly going on pure memory, so take it with a grain of salt.

one thing i see a TON in fandom and transformative fandom spaces is this incessant need to label a favorite character's sexuality one way or another, whether it be a sexuality the person likes to project themselves on or something else. thats not to say that its necessarily WRONG to do so—i love it when my dear mutuals see themselves in a character i think its very endearing & exciting, and in fact, there had been many times where i did some self-exploration of my own sexuality through characters. the problem i mostly have is when people get heated or even obsessive over something like a label.

i think for so long, there's been this discussion of wei wuxian's sexuality where, though mostly in good faith, comes to a point where you have to wonder if it even matters in the canon context. whether he’s bi, gay, straight, etc... it all comes down to the fact that in the story, they (wei wuxian and lan wangji) don't label themselves at all, and neither does the author. yes there is the term "cut-sleeve", which as we all know, is mostly used, almost in the negatory in the mdzs universe—the origins of the term “cut-sleeve” itself is referred to the story of Emperor Ai of the Han dynasty, who cut off his sleeve so as to not wake his sleeping lover. cut-sleeve itself is an allusion to homosexuality, but not the full label.

so what does this mean? well for starters, on twitter, there has been this lovely thread by twitter user flowerofgusu, who does a detached translation of chapter 111, and noticed a few key things. what i want to focus on is the first tweet, where translation differences are highlighted in that line. i implore you all to read the thread (its short!), because i dont want to trample all over it. but keeping it simple, we can see that there is a BIG difference between reading a wei ying who always thought himself as heterosexual, and a wei ying who just simply never thought himself “in that way”

i think this could open up a lot of discussion on how sexuality is handled in mdzs, and how wei ying’s own attitude toward sexuality is written. the author of the thread noticed that wei ying’s attitudes lines up well with the concept of “demisexuality.” and it makes sense! we know that lan wangji is the only person that wei wuxian has ever come to love intimately, and whole-heartedly. but again, the thing is, its a label, and whether or not it was intentional, we will never know if he is demi for sure. and that’s ok! in my opinion, characters dont have to have labels, and we know that wei wuxian can be perfectly happy living the rest of his life without labeling himself in any specific way.

(side note, now im seriously wondering if a “lack of label” is also a phenomenon of me wanting to project too—personally im someone who doesnt really stick to one, so i wonder if this is also me projecting in a sense. lol)

anyways, my problem with all of this arises because of a couple of attitudes of seen in response to the thread. i wont link it, and honestly i think the issue seems to pertain to the way fandom views characters’ sexuality in general. that discussing how characters might be demi, or acespec, or even just someone with no labels, is met with attitudes of “you’re erasing bisexuality” or “he is gay!!1!”; when ppl introduce the book, its “the main character is a bisexual necromancer!”. these claims are generally in good faith but, the problem is, they are not backed by the canon text either. i wont sit here and talk about other series or other characters, but i know for sure wei wuxian isnt labeled at all. heres what we know: 

that, in his first life, he teased and flirted a little, if only to make friends or get something in return, like food, or a perfume sachet.

he was rumored to be someone who ravishes virgin maidens every night, which no, he didnt. he hung out with some ghost maidens one time and lived alongside some poor farmers in the burial mounds. he died a virgin too

he experiences moments of comphet on few occasions, most notably in xuanwu cave where he told lan wangji “he doesnt like men”—i wrote a bit on this but i went back to read the text in its full context, and wei wuxians proclamation of “i dont like men!” seems to be more of a way to assure lan wangji that he wont take advantage of him, rather than him being so assured of his sexuality. since i dont have access to the original text, let's leave this for another day.

in the phoenix mountain kiss, he assumed that the person who stole his first kiss was a strong, but shy maiden. again, comphet at play, and never considers the possibility of it being a man

in his second life, he plays what he thinks not only how a cut-sleeve acts, but how mo xuanyu acts. when he first wakes up, he plays the act of a lunatic, then attempts to play it up to his advantage when he learns that mo xuanyu is homosexual. not once does wei wuxian himself ever harbor any negative feelings or disgust towards mo xuanyu being gay, or towards homosexuality at all.

in fact, up until the moment wei wuxian starts to fall in love with lan wangji, and when he realized he did, he never once fantasized about him being in a serious intimate situation with anyone, nonetheless even a man! his first life had been a lifetime of struggle, a struggle to conform, and a struggle through war, and a struggle to stand up whats right. whats notable is that although he and lan wangji met only on several occasion, it was enough to make a huge impression on each other—and for wei wuxian tell jiang yanli all about his new friend in the cloud recesses!

anyways the point is, wei wuxian never labels himself, but neither does he ever think about his sexuality in any meaningful way, whether because he “didnt have time”, or because he just simply didnt see the need to. i think the lack of a label on a character, or, really, a person, not only means that they dont care about how to define themselves, but because they just simply dont see the need to. wei wuxian is someone in the latter—he is a carefree person that goes with the flow, and doesnt get hung up so easily over any little thing.

this brings up another point ive thought about a lot—why use these western labels to define fictional characters living in an ancient fantasy china? especially terms where they have only been recently defined within the past couple hundred years. i think there is a lot to discuss when it comes to imposing western views of sexuality onto foreign art and media, especially media that, rather than try to label subjects any specific way, aims to tell a story rather than focus on identity politics. (i think this goes into why danmei itself is pretty appealing to a lot of people—it doesnt focus on the labels of its characters, but rather the characters themselves going “i love this person for themself, and not because im gay”. of course, there could be few exceptions, but generally, it is popular for the main couples in danmei to be wholeheartedly devoted to each other, no matter if they have been in several relationships before, or none at all)

another phenomenon ive seen in the fandom which was subject to a lot of discussion, is “sbwy”, or straight boy wei ying. generally i do think its inherently a harmless concept, and one that can be fun in a comedic setting, and especially wonderful when it comes to things like “coming of age” fics or analysis. the problem is. too many a time have i seen bad-faith criticism of the novel that claims… that wei wuxian was actually “straight” in his first life, and him taking the body of a gay man means he suddenly turned gay and that means mxtx deleiberately wrote this and is homophobic and blah blah blah—

just. full stop. i think at that point, anyone who thinks that probably didn’t read the novel lbr. wei ying was never implied to be “straight” in his first life—like i mentioned, he flirted with girls and generally never thought about himself in “that way”, but the whole point of the flashback arcs were to bring to light certain contexts that the present arcs needed, and to highlight the relationship between wei wuxian and lan wangji at that time. its rocky, but generally, they had a better relationship than what most people thought. we know that lan wangji didnt want his feelings known to anyone, and especially wei wuxian; so wei wuxian himself had no reason to know of it at all. and it makes sense—by the time lan wangji himself realized it, it was much too late, and wei wuxian had deemed him an outsider to his problems. theres nothing he could do to help without overstepping boundaries, so he chose to respect it (generally).

anyways what im saying here is that wei wuxian wasn’t straight in his first life—he just never had any reason to think about his sexuality. he was and is carefree, and i think his attitude towards his sexuality carefree as well. when he started realizing he was catching feelings for lan wangji, his first thought wasn’t “but im not gay!”, it was “oh my god. i might be gay. i might be gay and i might be gay for my best friend and i dont know what to do about it does he like me back i hope he likes me back aakdjklgfdhlkf;ds” (please note that i use the term “gay” loosely, not that im making any straightforward comment on what his sexuality might be, ty) he’s flexible with his attitude towards his own sexuality, not really claiming he’s any one thing, but instead, focusing on the most important object of his desires, lan wangji.

he was never inclined to seek out gay erotica in his first life, and he was never inclined to that kind of interests, and he was never inclined to sex at all. we know that in his first life, he died a virgin and never felt any kind of desire like that at all. in his second life, he becomes interested in sex—most noteably, interested in sex with lan wangji. lan wangji is the object of his desires, and throughout the entire story, no one ever catches his eye quite like the second jade of lan. he unlocks a desire within himself that he himself has never known, and from then on, hes more inclined to do anything with lan wangji. its exhilarating, its scary, its wonderful, and most of all, wei ying is happy. hes happy and excited and satisfied! wangxian never put labels on themselves throughout the novel, and theyre happy with that. when they realize the depth of their feelings for each other, theres no going back—it feels natural to them, so why go through the trouble of putting labels for themselves?

to close off i wanna say, headcanon whatever you want! whether wei wuxian is gay, bi, straight, demi, whatever, its all up to interpretation! and having civil discussions about it can be fun, and can bring people a whole different perspective than what they thought before. but i think its silly to claim that wei wuxian has to be one or the other, and if ppl hc him being a label you think is incorrect, its morally wrong to do so. in my opinion, i think the lack of putting a label on a sexuality can be really refreshing, and for wei wuxian, it seems to do him just fine.

Lemme rant about the Goddamn Megamind sequel

Okay, found out something today that many may not know: writers Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons are returning for the series, but they are not involved with the writing for this, like they did in the original.

They are executive producers, according to NBC's own report on the series. They mention that they wrote the original film, but said nothing about if they are writing. While the Wikipedia article also claims that the pair are also writing the series, there is no sources to back the claim up. A twitter post from Simons mentioned that they were in the writers room, yes, but due to a likely NDA, he couldn't just say how good/bad the quality of the writing is. The article also states that, "The original writers of the film, Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons, are signed on as executive producers with Celebrity Deathmatch creator Eric Fogel. JD Ryznar will be co-executive producer and story editor." Even Simons' own Twitter handle say he is the co-creator/EP of the series but not the writer.

EPs are not the same as writers in the field of animation, and in the field in general. They work more to consult while providing expertise on the matter as well as helping with fundraising for the project. I myself understand this. My class's animation, Star Fall, was going through a lot of story beats and changes, and all of us pitched in in making it as air tight as possible (in a four week time period). Obviously the main creator, Cory, she need me to make thumbnails and story boards for shots to make it make some form of sense. Could they have been consulted on for story beats and plot points? Of course, it isn't out of the realm of possibility. Frankly, I believe it is likely. Given that stuff from the art book exists, who is to say that they were given a go-ahead for a sequel and series, but have someone else write the series for them under Universal's demand?

Remember how Don Mancini turned down the title of Executive Producer when the 2019 Child's Play reboot came out? He had little to no involvement with the film in general as they were practically changing a lot of things to fit the newer script, and MGM were doing whatever they want despite the fact that it was he and David spent years putting everything into Chucky. And Don is not only the EP of his respective Child's Play/Chucky franchise, but he wrote the films and directed the series since Curse. And it is obvious that the 2019 reboot missed the mark as it, while being passible horror movie, wasn't as good as the OG.

I feel like a similar thing happened here; Schoolcraft and Simons were given an opportunity to get a Megamind sequel and sister series after fourteen years, but were only given only just a small amount to properly work on due to Universal's request. Still doesn't answer where the budget went to...

on series 14: I kinda lumped it together with the 60th special because I have only been hearing news and am unable to properly place them with one or the other. Here are the things I am mainly concerned about:

RTD bringing back everyone from last time and (apparently?) actively keeping new talent at bay. Moffat and Murray Gold are the biggest names and yes I loved their work and yes I understand they're buddies. But the thing I liked about Chibnall's era was the attempt to let more diverse voices speak as writers and directors. Both rtd1 and Moffat era have flaws (chibnall's too obv, but I don't think he will be involved from now on?) and we should have learnt from them. The biggest takeaway should have been that we need more input from different writers/directors/people in charge of decisions. And so far it seems like series 14/the 60th is actively preventing that. Also, Murray Gold's music is amazing but we've had 10 series of that. We could give someone else a chance! (This rejection of change is my main point of concern tbh but it's a big one)

Conected to that I am concerned about racism. Especially rtd1 is - not great with that. And we'll be having our first full-time black Doctor. Luckily, it sounds like Ncuti was able to add to the role and decide some things. But if everybody writing for him is white? (not saying that they are but I've yet to hear the opposite) I am afraid how that will go down. There's already been that unfortunate (to put it lightly) bit about the announcement in a twitter post and the wrong regeneration plus numbering issue, making Ncuti be overshadowed by both David and Millie. That's not a good start. So, I sincerely hope they will do better from now on but as I said, reason for concern.

Again, connected to that. Rose. Oh God. I hope the name is just a coincidence that will go without further comment. Do not have a second woman of colour be forced into the shadow of Rose Tyler. Please.

Ruby. I actually thought Rose would be travelling with the Doctor, so in the beginning I was just confused. And since then I've been kinda bored? I mean, Millie's sweet. But I was hoping for an alien companion. Or a proper old companion. Or a literal child. Or a single male companion. Or a black companion. Literally anything but yet another young, white woman. We've had that so many times now? But like, honestly, this is a weaker concern. I'm still hoping she might be an alien after all and even if she isn't, it'll be fine. I've loved every single companion until now, I'll love her, too.

The clothes. There's the obvious thing with the regenerating suit but also the other outfits have left me kinda baffled? Since when does the Doctor know how to dress? But I mean, maybe it's an incarnation thing or maybe Ruby is just a really good influence. I'll take it, at least it looks beautiful.

Several of the things happening ( the regenerating suit, the old writers+Gold, the way press has been handling it (!) ) , also feels to me like they're trying very hard to forget about Chibnall Who. To make it seem like it never happened. Maybe that's paranoia but I think there were some really beautiful takeaways from 13 and her run (first and foremost how explicity nonbinary the Doctor is) that I am afraid might get erased/hidden now. I mean, canon is flexible in dw anyway and that's a good thing. But 13 is important to me and I want her to be honoured and remembered suitably.

Now, as I said, these are merely concerns. Not unfounded, I guess, but I am ready for the show to prove me wrong. I hope series 14 will be everything we hope for and that I'll be able to laugh about my ridiculous fears from above once it takes off. But, well, for now I remain only very cautiously optimistic.

Okay yeah, in terms of ppl working on the show, I agree that there's vibes of them making RTD2 have RTD1 vibes. I think the main RTD1 team being back makes some amount of sense bc I guess RTD just likes to work with the same group of ppl and they presumably all work at Bad Wolf together, and Moffat potentially doing an ep or two won't bother me as long as the line up of writers isn't just made up of returning writers (which I'd like to think it won't be). Murray Gold being back is probably the thing I'm most not happy about bc I think it's idk, cowardly? lazy? boring? to decide to bring him back instead of seeking out new talent. I saw some ppl be like 'well we need someone who we know can do good DW music' and I'm like... why are you acting like composers are rare as hell like I'm sure there's plenty out there that would've loved to work on Doctor Who but now they don't have the chance bc RTD brought back the same guy whose already done 10 seasons. I don't think it's the end of the world bc yeah I like Gold's stuff too but there will always be part of me, regardless of how good his new stuff is, that will be a bit bitter than RTD didn't get someone new in for S14 onwards. I think it makes sense for Gold to do the 60th, that's kinda fun, but past that it's like... why.

I defo agree about the racism concern. RTD1 isn't great with it at all. I always think about that bit in The Shakespeare Code where Ten tells Martha to walk around like she owns the place and the fact it's in an era ran by the person who is now in charge of our first main black Doctor. The general treatment of both Martha and Mickey is awful at times as well. I think I'm just kinda assuming/hoping that he's grown/learnt over the last however many years and will take more care with things. Bc I am interested to see how being black effects how the Doctor is able to get by in some situations and if we get some Shakespeare Code bs every time he's in that kind of situation I'll lose my mind a little bit. and yeah if RTD doesn't bring in at least a couple of black writers that will be genuinely weird as hell imo. Like even if the Doctor wasn't black, I think it's important for the show to keep trying to bring in diverse writers, new talent, etc, but especially now that the Doctor is black, a big ass team of white writers would be odd.

Honestly I think no matter why Rose Temple-Noble is called Rose - if it's a coincidence put in there purely for 14 to have a shock reaction or if it has some explanation within the story - I think RTD casting a black trans woman and naming her character Rose is ridiculous and I'll never be fully on board with it. There's literally been articles calling her Rose Tyler and imo it's very possible it has just increased the amount of hate Yasmin Finney has had thrown her way bc ppl don't like the idea of someone else (probably especially a black and/or trans woman) being called Rose or replacing Rose Tyler (even though that isn't what she's doing). I honestly find that interesting bc one of RTD's reasons for not wanting to have DT wear 13's outfit was bc he didn't want tabloids to run with it and stir up more transphobia but he has no issue casting the first trans actor in the show and giving her the name of one of the most beloved characters the show has ever seen??

Yeah I don't really feel much of anything towards Ruby rn. I'll probs like her once we see her in episodes bc I tend to like all companions but rn I'm just in awe at how unoriginal RTD has been in his character creation of a white blonde teenage girl who has a four letter name that means red and is, as far as I know, from London. Feels like 2005 all over again. the main thing that I've heard that I think sounds fun is how they've described 15 and Ruby's relationship as sibling-like.

14 not wearing 13's clothes is something I will be salty about forever and based on RTD's DWM explanation I think some of his reasoning for it was really not great despite what he says about it being out of concern for giving tabloids a reason to be more transphobic than they already are. I'm not about to analyse what he said rn bc this is getting long enough but the vibes are off imo. 15 is definitely way too fashion conscious like yeah the outfits for the most part look great but they don't scream Doctor to me at all. I also don't love that he so far doesn't seem to have a signature outfit, he's always in something different.

Tbh I think chances are the big step away from 13's eras that seems to be happening is probably bc RTD wants his new era to feel like a good stepping in point for the show (which is a thing I can't stand) but it doesn't worry me too much bc the show has obviously done that kinda thing before.

There's a couple things I will always be not too happy about but yeah most stuff atm is very dependant on how things go over the next year-ish. I'm really hoping all of these concerns just get washed away and RTD2 is amazing, and tbh I'm hopeful that it will be amazing and most of this stuff will end up not being an issue, but I don't think that means we're not allowed to have these thoughts rn yknow? Like I'm more than capable of changing mind as more info comes out and I'll gladly do that for these things.

Yeah so I’m back

blows off dust, gestures at title Yes I dusted off The Old Tumblr just because Twitter’s turning into a dumpster fire trainwreck and that whole “zero content moderation” thing that’s going on over there Will Not End Well. The one thing I always did miss over there was just being able to tag the hell out of the content for sorting/categorizing purposes, plus being able to long format blog because I like doing that sort of thing, so time to do what I like best.

Highlight words in your post to made them look fancy. Wanna make things pop? Wanna change your mind on things?  Well there you go! Just selected the text you wanna use and hit what you want. There’s a way to change color of text and fonts but I still have no clue how to do that one. Example:

Shift + Enter to continue the same line of text/paragraph. Hit Enter to start a new line. When you start a new line you get the options to add media of your choice. The last one in the list is a Read More. Read Mores in my option are very important. It’s to hide bulk. You add it to your post and then anything under the line will be hidden and will only reveal it’s self if you click the read more button. Yes you can go on and on and on but most people fucking hate long posts. Hit read more and put your bulk under it. Such as long photos. Also important for hiding sensitive or NSFW information that could fall between the cracks of tag blacklist extensions. Great for wanting to vent in the open but also wanting to hide it.

Use one or all of these extensions to make you’re life easier on tumblr. These are are all free btw (Also hot tip words with underlines are words that have a link attached to them)

You can lock your likes and followers list so no one can see them. They’re in your settings to change them. I use it. I don’t like people seeing my likes because I don’t wanna people see how cringe I am.

If you notice a pattern of someone likes your posts and a different blog reblogs right after. It’s always the same two users back to back. Then it’s most likely that the reblogging blog is a side blog and the liker is their main blog. You can not like things via your side blog; thus seeing a different user popping up. Side blogs are other blogs with different handles that are connected to your main account. They are often made for the purpose to get one certain thing on that one blog to keep your main neat. Such as fandom or art related posts. For example, this blog is a side blog that I use for posting art and now I’m slowly making it also into my vtuber side blog. My art doesn’t get buried under whatever shitposts I’m putting on my main.  Some people get a whole new account to avoid the mismatch names on liking+rebloging. There are different pros and cons to side blogs and side accounts. Do whatever you feel like is best for you.   Another things about side blogs is you can attach other people to them. As in admins or moderators. So more than one person can share a side blog.

so most of the AU has been primarily set on twitter (my twt RP accounts are SCARY_MONSTERZ (diego & dio) / DlRTY_DEEDS (valentine) / TOTHESKIIES (shikari, they're an OC)!!), but their accounts have been recently transferred here to set up a sort of a parallel timeline of events!! but ALL information here rings true for BOTH timelines.

i'm writing from late-SBR into post-canon on tumblr, but obviously, if anyone wants to write pre-SBR / early/mid-SBR, i'm always down lol.

anyway actual au info (please note there will be some spoilers!!! also under readmore bcuz this is wordy. i'll be speaking exclusively for the main cast as well as the characters i personally write here.)

ITS SET (mostly) POST-CANON WHERE EVERYONE LIVES-- yes, EVERYONE. none of the main OR side cast have died, however some have retained injuries that still very much effect them in post-canon.

Diego Brando (the original) was the winner of the Steel Ball Run race, and has obtained Manhattan Island as its mayor. consider him the sort of 'main character', as i mostly wrote this AU based HEAVILY around Diego's antics-- he was my first SBR muse!

Valentine is still President, and his wife, Scarlet, has a Stand in this AU. Her Stand is known as Love At First Feel, named after an AC/DC song. her Stand ability allows her intangability, which essentially grants her invulnerability to many attacks (including D4C & The World to an extent! however, she's very unsure how to use it at the moment; its primarily used for its defensive capability).

Also... Lucy Steel has a Stand. the exact details are a little "???" to me atm, but another Lucy writer on Twitter had her Stand basically allow her to turn her own body fluids into objects (somewhat seen in canon iirc, also forgot the handle of said Lucy</3). but the Lucy Steel in this AU, can see and interact with Stands

Johnny, Gyro, H.P, & Diego are friends!!! they were initially forced to work together after the train almost killed Diego, & they worked as a team to attempt to kill Valentine. however, immediately after the race ended, Johnny, Gyro, and H.P returned to Italy. Diego chose not to join them due to his injuries, fearing he may not survive the journey bcuz of them.

Alternate world Diego (known exclusively as Dio in this AU) is also still here. He was tasked with securing the Holy Corpse, but got ahead of himself and chose to attack Johnny whilst they were nearing the end of the race. he ended up losing his leg during this battle (as seen in canon!), and technically didn't finish first as he never crossed the finish line, choosing to take a different route to ensure the Corpse was secured.

as for where Dio's story goes after that, he does continue to work with Valentine for a short while, before he gets written off when Diego is offered his placement as Mayor. said Mayorship is only offered bcuz Valentine very much wants Dio & Diego to try and kill eachother, so neither of them will get in his way again.

and of course, at first, Dio & Diego were very much enemies. but as written on twitter, Dio eventually becomes one of the guardsmen for Diego, & works as a sort of personal hitman. he also takes over as Mayor whenever Diego is unavailable, as most won't know their visual differences.

also my SBR OC does play a role within the early-story & post-canon; Shikari is Valentine's Head of Defense. they are beneath Blackmore- as Blackmore is Valentine's second in command- but they act as a sort of standby whenever Blackmore goes down.

whilst Shikari is indifferent to Diego, they do have a strange fondness for Dio. its thought they sympathise for him; after he recovered from his leg injury & did some work for Valentine before he was fired, they worked together extensively. he was mostly placed with them due to Shikari's very reserved nature & patience.

also Shikari is very aware that Valentine views them as disposable. but due to the nature of their Stand, Take To The Skies, which is an object based stand taking the form of a cape, it does allow D4C to quickly 'generate' another Valentine from them in emergencies.

Additionally, Valentine is EXTREMELY cunning and evil in this AU. moreso than canon. with the Holy Corpse secured, he very much views other human life as entirely disposable, even those who work closely to him. he is REAL fucked up.

This blog has mostly fallen out of disuse, just as Tumblr more generally has for me. This was never my main blog, but even my main blog goes untouched for a year or so at a time, until some old memory brings me back here. Anyway, why am I posting here? Well, as I said, this was never my main blog, but it was the blog I came to to say what was on my mind. And these days there is a lot on my mind. Things that would make X's character limit quake in terror.

During this year's nostalgia trip, I rediscovered a post I made a few years ago called vive le roi. In it, I discussed my thoughts about the future of AI. It was an extremely interesting find - of course, I remember writing it, but I had forgotten exactly what it said. And, in rereading it, I gained insight into how my thought on the subject has developed in just a few years. I no longer think the primary danger of AI is rogue robots with guns, for example (although this danger is also not negligible). More generally, I no longer think the alignment problem is the only serious issue with AI. The other issue is political, social, and economic, and represents the final conclusion of the conflict between capital and labor. More will be written about this, of course.

It's only natural that this development in thought should have happened - most people probably have more well-thought-out ideas on the future of AI than they did several years ago. But I found this time capsule so fascinating that I realized how much I'm missing out on by not cataloging my current thoughts for future reflection.

So, yes, I will be writing about AI. But I will also be writing about related subjects that have captured my attention over the last few years, between which AI might be considered the common thread. These include:

politics and political economy, particularly in the age of AI

the philosophy of mind, considered both with respect to AI and as an independent subject

general metaphysics - most likely with an emphasis on applications to the philosophy of mind, but again, sometimes considered for its own sake

whatever else I might be mulling over at any given time

In short, this is where I will be posting off-the-cuff essays on things I would otherwise be spinning around in my head - which is much harder to do in a structured way. All this is in addition to the occasional dream-journaling, life-updates or whatever else I feel compelled to come here for.

Okay so some Critical Role drama from a couple years ago, in one of the episodes a kid died and that upset some members of the fandom, so some of them decided to try to start an project that lists trigger/content warnings for each episode, which by itself aint too bad of an idea, except for 1 big big problem, the people running it were incompetent. And the person(let's call them Red) running it had a very holier than thou I know better then you attitude.

One of their ideas for a cw was "Graphic plant suffocation" and "violence", violence for a dnd Livestream/podcast

Also one of the rules established early on was that they wouldn't tag for characters, except that they tagged one of the characters Astrid because "abuse storyline" and refused to tag when her abuser showed up.

Near the end of campaign 2 the character Lucien showed up, a cult leader who is a pos, well Red made a huge thread on Twitter talking about how it's obvious that the main party are actually the bad guys here and are excited because they didn't expect Matt to go there. They even claimed that they wouldn't tag cw for when Lucien gaslights people because "he believes what he's saying". Cue Lucien fully going evil. Red still refused to tag anything about him because "it's obvious that he's evil" like you fucking fell for him.

Well when some people complained about how this "serious" project was being handled red would complain about them on Twitter or the project discord server going so far as to call one of them "an emotionally draining tiring little bitch".

Ah yes. I don't even know where to start, so I will just mention my favorite phenomenon I've noticed when it comes to this sort of drama: the slippery slope of "I must only like morally correct things" to "people liking an evil character are automatically evil too" to "every character I like must be a good person because I am a good person" to "actually I knew the character was evil and irredeemable all along, so I liked them CRITICALLY, all of you guys are abuse apologists though"

Gets me every time.

There is also something very amusing about a dnd podcast viewer trying to condemn violence because. If you want dnd without the battles and violence, maybe look into a system that isn't made for battling monsters? Pen and paper, my beloved. (Not that fictional violence is a problem in itself, of course, it's just.... why complain about fictional violence in the violent goblin kill simulator game)

Steel My Heart fanfic WIP

So basically this fanfic is gonna be my take on the story Ginny Di's OC Temper "wrote" under the same title, Steel My Heart. After watching Ginny's vid with Edith & Augury, I got motivated to really work on this again (after my initial kick to after this tweet exchange (yes that's my main twitter, which I barely use))

—so I've decided to share what I have so far. If you haven't heard Ginny's ad with Temper (I cannot for the life of me find the vid with the world anvil ad she was in T^T), basically she's a blacksmith that moonlights as a writer; her current story is about an "adventurer who falls in love with [his] sword, but they can’t be together because the sword is so sharp, their love is dangerous."

I don't know how long it's going to take me to finish this fic, or if I'll actually write beyond the beginning/meet cute between the MC & the sword (in which case I'll release my brainstorming notes that have a lot of fun details). Once it IS done, I'll be posting it in a new post here, and on AO3. Links will be shared on Ginny's patreon discord too.

CH 1 - Woe to Weal

“How much can I get with—” Anneal paused as he dumped his coin purse on the bar and counted, meekly continuing, “three silver?” He was down to his last coins. He didn’t enjoy relying on the sympathy of others, but he had no choice but to bank on it.

The barkeep gave him a pitying look before going back into the kitchen. Hopefully that was good. There hadn’t been much in the way to scavenger or hunt on his way into this village, so any food would be good. On cue, his stomach growled like an owlbear. Not that it could be heard over the boisterous group that stumbled in, making everyone turn and look. A hallow pang turned Anneal’s head back to his measly fortune.

A fortune that was swiftly swiped up by the barkeep. In its place, a plate of food and a stein of mead were set. And the key for a room.  He was about to thank the barkeep but one of the new, rowdy patrons all but slammed into the bar beside him. “Good friend, some drinks and food, if you please!” the halfling lilted. “And later some rooms so we may rest at ease.”

They eyed the gold she offered, then the group of hers who were all lost in their own conversation. “You’re adventures.”

“That we are, indeed. And we’re open for hire, should you so need,” she honeyed on.

“Yeah, actually.” They reached under the bar and pulled out a small flier. “Go see the mayor. She’ll give you the details. If you can manage to handle this tonight, you can imbibe and stay for free.”

“Well well, what a deal—”

“Sorry,” Anneal cut in, “but is this request open to all adventurers?”

They both looked at him. The barkeep raised their brow as they looked him over again. “You’re an adventurer?”

“I am.” Anneal cleared his throat, then straightened up and adjusted himself. “I admit, I’m… a bit down on my luck at the moment, but I can hold my own.”

A strong hand clamped on his shoulder. It seemed that the halfing’s group had been listening in and were all now circled behind me. The orc woman leaned in close. “Trying to be competition, little man?”

She could easily snap him in half—he had mixed feelings about that. “No, no!” he quickly defended. “I—I’m clearly no competition for the four of you.”

“Correct,” she said.

“I merely meant more of a… partnership? If you will—if the job is even something that would benefit from more fighters?” He glanced to the barkeep, hoping his desperation wasn’t noticeable to everyone.

It was.

The barkeep shrugged. “Hell if I know. Mayor knows more,” they deflected, then promptly removed themself from the situation developing between all of the adventurers.

Anneal slowly turned and faced the group he callously interjected himself into for this job they knew nothing about. Their expressions ranged between friendly, curious, reluctant, and unimpressed.

The orc spoke up again. “So, how do you fight? You look like fragile magic wielder.”

“Uhh…” He didn’t enjoy being called fragile, but compared to her, it was fitting. Especially with how scruffed up he was at the moment. “Well, I guess it’s sorta like magic.” He flicked his hand and in it appeared a spectral dagger. “Right now, these are all I got. But I know how to fight with other weapons, too. I’m best at being sneaky and such. You know—rogue shit.”

She nodded acceptingly. “Not bad. Maybe we work on more fighting skills for you.”

“Wait, so… you’re all fine working together?”

“We all fall on hard times at least once. It’s always good to help others when you can.” The elf with pastel hair held out her hand. “I’m Cerromet.”

“Anneal. Nice to meet—ahh!” When he went to shake her hand, a small creature jumped over Cerromet’s shoulder and tried to bite his hand. Luckily, he withdrew in time.

Acting fast, Cerromet turned her hand and grabbed the little psudo-dragon by the belly. She held the fang-bearing creature to her chest and pet it sweetly below its chin. “Sorry about Bloom. She’s just hungry.”

“She’s not the only one!” piped up the gnome. She hopped up on the stool beside him and leaned over for a better look at the plate the barkeep left him. “It’ll be nice to have some actual food instead of goodberries.”

“I’m sorry the ones I make are so sour,” Cerromet pouted with a little attitude. “That’s just how my magic is, Pen.”

The halfling leaned on the bar and stole his stein of mead. She took a swig then said, “I’m Burr, by the way; and Bi’Kern is our burly friend. She’s tough, for sure, but kind in the end.”

“I don’t mean this as a criticism, but just an honest question. Do you always speak in rhyme?” Anneal asked.

“It’s more fun to speak in song. Try it sometime and tell me I’m wrong.”

“Do you ever not speak in rhyme?”

“You’ll sooner see ancient dragons fill the sky, than you’ll hear a lilt fail from I.”

“Okay, okay… what’s a rhyme for orange?”

Bi’kern smacked the back of his head. “Stop being ass. Just drink already.” Burr made a point to start chugging the drink she stole from him while conspicuously returning to the table they had claimed.

Fun Notes: Most main characters are blatantly based off Ginny’s other OCs, and renamed after smithing terms (in case it doesn't come up later in the story, Pen is short for Pennyweld). Also, going to be adding various quests Ginny has made too (can you guess what this first one is gonna be?)

You were cleaning up your station so you can get home and stream. You loved your day job as a tattoo artist but you also really enjoyed streaming. It started as a way to promote yourself as an artist and the shop you worked at but it eventually became a really fun way to destress at the end of the week (or day if you were really itching to stream). “Hey Y/N was that your last client?” your boss, KC, asked as she walked to the front of the shop and put new flash drawings on the walls.

“Yes ma’am!” You said back excitedly. You finished cleaning your station and tossed your black gloves in the trash. “And you can’t trick me into staying and taking walk-ins,” you joked with her. She rolled her eyes and walked back into her office “It was one time,” she said as you slid on your jacket. As you walked out your phone buzzed in your pocket and you checked to see who had texted you. It was a message from Sean asking if you were free to play Among Us with him and some other streamers. You replied that you were on your way home right now and totally down. You were excited to see who was playing this time around since their Among Us streams are super entertaining and have gotten really popular.

On your way back you tweeted and posted to your Instagram story that you’d be streaming soon and set up all your stuff once you made it home. After a few minutes, you had a couple of thousand people watching. You entered the discord chat and Sean spoke up. “Everyone this is Y/N she’s sensitive so be gentle.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you guys and I’m not gentle, I'm ruthless,” You say into your mic and notice the chat calling you a liar. Everyone was in the lobby waiting for the game to start. “You sound way too sweet to be ruthless,” Corpse said. The countdown started and you were imposter with Charlie.

“This should be fun,” you told the stream. Yout tried playing strategically but after such a long shift your brain was mush. You saw Poki in nav and killed her then vented into shields. Not long after the body was reported and you were sure you were going to get voted out or at least sussed.

“Where was the body?” Felix asked. “Nav and I didn’t see anyone near there so whoever is imposter must have vented,” Corpse responded. Felix spoke up again. “I think I saw Y/N walk that way and I haven’t seen her since.”

Shit, shit, shit shit. “I’m in shield right now so-” you said trying to defend yourself but Charlie spoke up. “I was doing tasks with her earlier and I saw her walk into shields so she’s safe but I’m still not sure about Rae.” Everyone discussed a bit more and some people, including Corpse, voted for you but Rae got the majority vote and was ejected. You released your breath and kept playing being extra careful.  

“Okay, guys that was super close. Corpse knows and is out to get me,” you said to the chat. You were eventually voted off but one round later victory was written across your screen with your ghost and Charlie’s avatar. “Good game guys,” Corpse said.

“I told you guys I was ruthless!”

You sat at your station doing nothing because a client had canceled a four-hour session. You were listening to music and sketching some stuff but you were bored out of your mind and you didn’t want to leave in case you got a walk-in. The music got quiet as you received a twitter notification saying someone had messaged you. You reached for your phone and saw you had gotten a dm from Corpse.

C: hey :)

You didn’t know what to respond. You were mostly confused as to why he decided to message you out of the blue. Did he want something? But what would he want?

Y: Hii! This is sudden

C: was i bothering you?

    shit sorry!

Y: Youre fine I wasn’t doing anything rn

C: how has your day been

    i dont usually do stuff like this

Y: Im glad you did im doing better now I was so bored

C: what were you doing that was so terrible

Y: NOTHING! thats the problem :(

C: im sure youll find something to do

You stared at his message. Unsure what to respond.

Y: Im gonna give myself a tattoo

C: what?

    NO!

You tossed the needles you used for your tattoo into the sharps box. “Oh my god you didn’t,” KC said. She noticed the wrap on your calve from the tattoo you just gave yourself out of boredom. “It’s not my fault I didn’t have anything else to do!” You said trying to defend yourself. She sighed and just shook her head. “Just go home business is slow today.” It was raining so the shop probably wasn’t going to get a walk-in anyway and you didn’t have any more clients for the day. It was only 2 pm but you drove home and after making lunch for yourself decided to stream. You weren’t expecting too many people so it was bound to be super chill. Your leg felt sore reminding you of the tattoo. You snapped a quick pic of the fresh jack-o-lantern on the side of your calve and messaged it to Corpse.

C: thats  super cool actually

    i was concerned why you would just give yourself a tattoo but i found your instagram and       youre super talented

What’s that supposed to mean?

You sat in your apartment watching tv, hand lost in a bag of Doritos, and scrolling through twitter. You had stopped paying attention to the anime playing on the screen since you’ve watched it a hundred times and knew you wouldn’t miss anything. It was Saturday and you usually take those days off. Take the time to do chores or meet up with some friends but today you felt like not doing any of those things. As you continue your endless scroll (not helping the twitter addiction you told yourself you’d try to get a handle on) you got a message from Corpse.

C: wanna talk?

You looked down at the message unsure of how to answer. It was a simple yes or no and the obvious answer was yes. You and Corpse had started talking more regularly. You still didn’t have each other’s phone numbers but it was fine. Your conversations weren’t too big-- just you sending him memes, tiktoks, and telling him how much you liked the songs he would drop. Or him complimenting a tattoo you did. Sometimes he’d message you during streams telling you funny stuff his fans would say in the chat and you’d do the same. You learned a bit about each other but nothing too deep or serious. Like how you two lived a few cities away and you both really liked Donnie Darko. When Sean first invited you to that game out of everyone else there you were most excited to meet Corpse. He’s just so sweet and funny. Of course, you’d love to talk to him but you were also itching to talk to him and the last thing you’d ever want to do was make him uncomfortable.

Y: Yeah id love to talk

Here goes nothing.

Y: Wanna facetime or something?

     No pressure or anything it could even be a regular call

     I think facetime is just my default lol

You sent those last two messages quickly after you had sent the first. You wished you could know what he was thinking. It was killing you to think you had turned him off from talking to you completely. You put your phone down on the couch and went to wash your hand of Dorito dust. When you got back from the kitchen you turned off the tv and tossed yourself onto the couch.

Still no message.

Why am I so fucking stupid?  

Just as you were standing up to stretch from sitting on the couch all day your phone buzzed. You reached for it fast and looked to see that it was him. You became super excited still not even knowing what the message said. It could have told you to never talk to him again for all you knew.

C: sure lets facetime

You had his phone number. You added him to your small but growing contact list and called. You sat on your couch waiting for a response when he finally picked up the screen was black. It didn’t upset you; you kind of expected it and didn’t care what he had to do to make himself more comfortable during this call.

“Hey,” he said. His voice was raspier than usual.

“Did you just wake up?” You asked and looked at the time. It was about a little past noon and you had only eaten Doritos all day. Shit, you should probably make a decent meal.

“Not that long ago but yeah,” he responded and giggled. That giggle.

“Well, I’ve eaten nothing but Doritos all day while rewatching Ouran High School Host Club, so you’re welcome to join me as I make myself something to eat.”

“Sounds like fun; what are we eating?”

“I don’t know yet,” You said as you stood up and made your way to the kitchen. You opened the pantry and looked. You noticed a can of diced tomatoes and reached for it then checked the expiration date. It was still good. On your counter were some onions and garlic. “How about some tomato soup?”

“Sounds delicious.” you smiled at Corpse and your phone screen not knowing if he was also looking at his screen or not. “You’re really pretty-- you know that?”

“Thanks, but you don’t have to--”

“I’ve already told you what an incredible artist you are so many times I bet you’re tired of hearing it, but you already know what a talented artist you are.”

“That is very kind of you Corpse,” you said to him bashfully as you chopped the onion and opened the can of tomatoes. “But once again you don’t have to reach so far to compliment me.”

“I’m not reaching you are talented and beautiful and--”

“I thought I was pretty.” You could hear him chuckle with a smile on his face. “You’re both,” he said. You could feel your face getting warm from blushing.

“Fuck you you’re making me blush. My face is all hot and stuff.”

He laughed at how flustered you got. “That’s the cutest thing ever.”

You didn’t know how to respond so you just put some olive oil in a pot and tossed in your onions. It became silent but it was a comfortable silence. You turned the stove on and watched the flame for a few seconds. “If it was dark we could pretend we were together and having a bonfire or something,” you said to the phone as you turned the camera to show him the flame (still not 100 percent sure if he was looking at you or not).

“I’ll put it on the list of things to do when you visit me someday.”

So I want to talk about Sessrin shippers and their harassment.

Hello IY/HNY fandom, I’m sweepingtree. You would have found my handle familiar by now if you’re active in the fandom. Not intentionally, but because some people are starting drama for no reason.

So the past few weeks have been really something, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t affected at all by it, although I really am trying to be unbothered. I had said I don’t want to react to shippers, and had really decided on not interacting with them at all. I received so many anons the first time round but I deleted them all because I really did not want to blow this up.

But it has come to my attention that shippers are accusing me for being provocative first, and basically saying that me receiving su*cide bait and de*th threats for drawing some FAN ART is in bad taste but not unexpected. They have dragged my handle through filth for no goddamn reason, when in the first place, as I have already emphasised multiple times, I DO NOT CARE FOR INTERACTING WITH SESSRIN SHIPPERS. I don’t like them, but I don’t attack them. I see sessrin art and I just block and move on with my day. My block list is over a hundred for this reason.

But I’ve been harassed by shippers now for several weeks, in several languages, on several platforms, and their rationale for doing this is that THEY THINK I STARTED THE HARASSING AND BULLYING FIRST.

So this brings me to my first point.

1. The comment I left on Satou Hisako’s (the animator from Sunrise who made Sessrin fan art) tweet.

I know the shippers are claiming that they’re all up in my shit because I left a comment on her fan art so here it is, here’s my dastardly comment which attracted the ire of all shippers. I deleted it afterwards because the QRTs were getting annoying but some shipper screenshot it as some kind of a “HA! I HAVE PROOF OF YOUR WRONGDOING” thing to try to say that the harassment that I’m receiving is well deserved so here it is lol.

For those of yall who can’t see it, I said “まさか、佐藤さんはロリコン？ああああキモイね“ which roughly translates to “It can’t be, Satou-san, are you a lolicon? Ah gross.”

I’m not sorry. I don’t take what I said back. Rin looks tiny in that art, and she’s wearing her childhood kimono with bright patterns that are really rarely seen in adult kimono. And asking someone if they’re a lolicon isn’t attacking them.

I get that I can’t expect foreigners to understand some nuances in Asian culture but I’m going to try to explain this: as much as I disapprove of it, lolicon isn’t taboo in Japan. Lolicon very specifically refers to depiction of child-like fictional characters, and even though it is side-eyed by many people, it isn’t illegal. Asking if someone is a loli in Japan DOES NOT have the same connotation as asking an American person if they are a paedophile. It’s probably similar to if someone asked you if you do dr*gs, or if you have a smoking habit. If you go on twitter and you search up lolicon , you’ll even find LOADS of japanese accounts with “lolicon” in their handles or display names, identifying themselves as lolicon.

Is this gross? Yes. But is this illegal or taboo? Unfortunately, no.

But whatever. The main point is that my ONE SINGLE TWEET to a professional animator with thousands of followers is not me attacking them. Compared to what I received from shippers, it’s NOTHING.

2. Shippers starting harassing me WAY BEFORE I sent that one tweet to Satou.

This, in fact, was the one tweet that started it all coming in.

Look at the number of quote retweets which were spawning MORE quote retweets from both shippers and antis defending me. I’m not going into specifics of what those tweets say but the general gist of it was basically talking about how I’m a child kidnapper because I took ‘Rin’s kids and gave them to Kagura’ lol and how I’m jealous and unoriginal and boring etc etc. I haven’t deleted this tweet so you can check out the shit show for yourself if you want to. I’ve also addressed the anons I’ve got in this post here.

I posted this work on 29th March; shippers already STARTED coming for me in my mentions. The comment that I made on Satou’s tweet was made on 29th April. A good whole MONTH after Sessrin shippers started harassing me non-stop. So people who are saying something like ‘oh she had it coming because she attacked the *poor widdle innocent baby do-no-wrong-ever Japanese* professional animator sessrin artist so she completely deserves whatever she got‘ are quite literally talking out of their asses because it happened AFTER the harassment started.

And yeah! Of course I argued back with the shippers when the harassment started. Of course I was rude to them and telling them to f*ck off. But you’re telling me I was unfounded? You’re telling me that if someone attacked you for making some goddamn unproblematic fan art you’re supposed to just sit idly by and say ‘oh I’m so sorry! I’ll never do it again! You’re right and I am indeed despicable!’? Is that what you guys would do if your art is just dragged for literally no reason other than people trying to police what kind of fan art is allowed?

I know some shippers are genuinely not such deranged f*ckers. They simply jumped onboard when they saw a few weird f*cks accusing me of starting the ‘bullying’ in the first place and there was just too much everywhere for them to understand what’s ACTUALLY going on, or even bothering to find out what’s ACTUALLY going on.

So I hope this post clears it up.

Y’all came for me again and again and again; I ranted to my friends on private discord servers, I tweeted on my personal twitter account without mentioning anyone or anything, and I censor sessr*n every time I want to rant about it so shippers won’t accidentally find my tweets.

3. Sessrin shippers are actually, literally ACTIVELY bullying me on multiple platforms, all because I made fan art in which Kagura is the mother of the twins.

They are. That is simply what they are doing. I don’t actively search up ship tags, and I just block the moment I see ANY suggestion of supporting sessrin in any account. I’m entitled to block as liberally as I want because I personally find the ship repulsive. Some of you ‘neutrals’ may think I’m being harsh and you may disagree with my opinion about sessrin, but I don’t care. I really DO NOT WANT TO SEE ANY SESSRIN because that shit is triggering af for me.

But I hear from friends about the indirect tweets that are targeting me, I see them subtweeting me on the sesskagu tag, I even heard from a Chinese anti about shippers from CHINA slandering me on weibo, claiming that I’m known for being toxic in the Chinese community (which I’m not even a part of ffs!) sometimes for tweets/posts that are NOT even relevant to IY/HNY at all.

Most recently, I made a drawing of an OC. You can see him here. In this post, and on twitter, I wrote a small bit about how his name is Bob, and how sesskagu named him that at Kirinmaru’s suggestion and they though a foreign name was cool and exotic.

Lol. I know. It’s dumb. I’m poking fun at non-Japanese people who either 1) write their names in kana even though they don’t know the language or 2) invent a fake Japanese name for themselves even though they are not Japanese because they think its cool and exotic. I don’t need to give examples, and I don’t want to specify anyone even though I’m sure you all have someone specific in mind. It’s such a common practice that y’all definitely know at least one or two weirdos who do this. In fact, I don’t even use my actual given Japanese name because of how involuntarily cringe I feel about this and I don’t want to be mistaken for being one of those weirdos.

TL;DR BOB IS A JOKE NAME. I’M MAKING FUN OF WEEBS WHO FETISHISE JAPAN AND JAPANESE PEOPLE.

This joke went right over their heads, though. And they started making fun of me for my OC.

Hey, weirdos. That’s the point. I’m making fun of you Western weebs calling yourself some variation of Japanese or Korean names (don’t think I don’t see some of yall also being kpop stans who fetishise Koreans as well). Asian names are carefully selected and chosen, and each character and its combination matters. I’m not going to f*cking choose a Japanese name for a fictional OC because that’s disrespectful to the naming process IMO. And look at them f*cking accusing me of faking my ethnicity again. I thought about addressing this, and those who know me personally already know about my ethnicity. But I decided I’m not going to reveal any more about my personal life because I really don’t owe that to anyone, not especially some dumb f*cks on the internet. I can’t believe I would ever in my life find anything in common with Barrack Obama of all people but here we both are, embroiled in truther conspiracies about our fucking origin story ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(to be fair, Bob is also 100% a name that a Japanese person might give themself if they want an English name because some people DO think a foreign name is exotic and cool. I’m not kidding. I’m really not. I don’t get it, but hey, I don’t judge.)

I think it is evident that ultimately, these shippers are simply coming for me because I drew the twins as Sesshomaru and Kagura’s daughters.

I have talked about my feelings about that before in another post, so I’m not going to say more. And I think enough Inukag shippers and Mirsan shippers have talked about how they literally wouldn’t mind if they made those characters’ kids into some other characters’ so I’m not going to elaborate. I will still be making fan art of whatever the hell I want to because this is my hobby and I enjoy it, though I might be taking a break for awhile now.

I think I’ve nearly covered most of the bullsh*t that has been happening for the past few weeks, so I’m going to stop soon. But at the end of it, I think you all can see and make the judgement for yourself. From the very start, I had made it a point to not interact with any sessrin shipper, no matter how much I dislike the sh*t they’re putting out. That had not changed. I still do not want to interact with them, will not talk to them involuntarily, and will also not be responding about this matter any further.

Sessrin shippers, if you’re reading this, and you’re not one of the deranged and unreasonable ones (I refuse to believe that every single person who ships sessrin is so out of touch with reality to such an extent), I hope you can understand how truly ridiculous it is to be sending unwarranted de*th threats and su*cide bait to an artist with a really small following just because of some fan art of fictional characters and their fictional children. If you do have to talk sh*t about me or my works, do it privately.

I don’t expect you to like me. I don’t like you either. Just fuck off.
